The Other Wes Moore One Name Two Fates Essay
The book The Other Wes Moore One Name, Two Fates was written by Wes Moore. The novel consists
of two boys who had an identical name: Wes Moore. One gets to experience things he never thought
of and the other we will be behind bars until death for a robbery. In this novel, it really shows the
difference between the two and how they grew up. They grew up at the same time, on the same streets,
and with the same name. Their stories came together and one helped the other. It was a large story that
consists of young boys in a chaotic part of history and violent time and apparent to succeed and fail in
revolutionary ways. How one takes action for doing good and the other going down the wrong road. In
society, we are the ones who decide our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His behavior was getting out of control as well. It was like a flip of a switch that set him off. When he
was punched in the face by a smaller guy in front of his friends. He ran home and was wiping his lip
off from the blood that was there. He was in the kitchen and was looking for a knife as a result of
remembering what Tony said If someone disrespects you, you send a message so fierce that they won t
have the chance to do it again (Moore 33). Woody knew that Wes took it to heart and was trying to
divert his attention. To no avail, he was already outside where the group was hanging out not knowing
the cops were there. I Moreover, we shouldn t become someone who we are not. I believe what drives
our judgement is the way people think of others. Today in this world, people are close minded and not
open to new ideas. Society s think that people who grew up from the bad side of town, they will get
nowhere in life. We judge people for the way they look, what they wear, where they re from, where
they live, etc. We judge out of our own fears and insecurities. We must treat people the way the want
to be treated, not by how you think they should be treated. When we judge someone, do we really
know what goes on in their life. Also, still discriminate others to this day, such as, we still judge
people based on their race. We have to treat people with equal rights no matter what race or ethnicity
they are. We have qualities

Personal Branding
Personal Branding is already conflicting with Company Branding outside the work place. A middle
school teacher was suspended with pay for making remarks about her students on Face Book
(Norwalk, 2010). A woman was fired after criticizing her boss on face book ( Fired over Facebook,
2011). A young man was rejected for a position at Cisco because he tweeted that he had to weigh the
fat paycheck against the drive and work (Popkin, 2009). These examples go on and on. Entire sites
have been dedicated to helping employees build their personal brands without conflicting with their
company brand (Schawbel, 2009).
However, the issue of employee s personal branding will grow in the minds of middle management as

Clay Shirky writes in her book Cognitive Surplus of a day where HR departments will overlook small
statements against organizations because in the future most everyone will have at least made one
mistake (2010).
Addressing the issue of conflicts in personal branding in the future will rely heavily on the individual
company policies. Middle managers will need to formulate new business and functional level
strategies. For example they will have to establish functional level policy s to allow employees to
communicate personal brands in a business oriented fashion. Middle managers will also have to
implement company level restrictions for issues that may harm the company brand. Middle
management will also have to formulate functional level strategies with the HR department. These
strategies will focus on hiring employees with both character in their personal brands and talent in
their resumes. These strategies will be heavily influenced by both internal factors (the mission
statement and culture of the company) and external factors (the laws, politics, company opportunities,
threats, and environment).
Both middle managers and employees of the future will have high levels of resiliency in order to
compete in such an interconnected world. Employees will have to take on a work life that is never
ending, with more responsibilities. In implementing

Reasons For The Study Of Spirituality From A Theological...
ntroduction The aim of this essay is to discuss Wolftiech s reasons for the study of spirituality from a
practical theological perspective. It will do this by outlining the reasons for study found in Wolftiech s
writings. Resultantly, it will discuss the strengths, weaknesses, and implications of Wolftiech s reasons
viewed from a Reformed theological frame of reference. Finally, a conclusion will be offered
suggesting a reforming approach to Practical theology.
Wolftiech s reasons Wolftiech considers practical theologians as having a rich understanding of the
nature of practice and possessing methods for constructing critical dialogue between traditions and
contemporary contexts , as well as an explicitly formative and ... Show more content on

Theologians such as have also offered definitions of theology which wholeheartedly embrace this
idea. John Frame has defined theology as: the application of the Word of God by persons to all areas
of life 7 This idea of whole life application has an impact upon our thought/orthodoxy, our
action/orthopraxis and our affection/orthopathos.8,9 However, this definition, in contrast to Wolftiech,
gives primacy to the authority of Scripture. Within the reformed perspective, primacy is given to
scripture as the rule for faith and life .10Frost and Hirsch assert that orthodoxy right belief is an
indispensable element of any Christian discipleship. It is evident the church frequently sees orthodoxy
in the narrow sense, as a commitment to propositional truth, assuming that the knowledge of God is
only received cognitively, However, the cognitive knowledge of God needs to be balanced by
orthopraxy and orthopathy in order for the believer to come to a full orbed, biblical engagement with
(and knowledge of) God. 11 Conversely, Wolftiech at times places much emphasis on pathos. When
dealing with the question of pneumatology and religious experience, appeal is made to questioning

Leadership Style Of A Leader Essay
Each individual possesses a certain capacity for leadership. Whether is is learned or innate,
communication skills are a key factor in how a leader is perceived and followed. An individual s
leadership style is comprised of several factors within the workplace environment and the individuals
that comprise it.Some theories debate whether leadership remains the same no matter the
circumstance, where others maintain that individuals might use others to gain leadership for noble
means. Regardless of the charisma or communication an individual uses in their leadership style, each
person should follow the example of Christ to become a respectable, caring, and honorable role model
of love and generosity.

How Leaders Lead Almost every single day an individual has an opportunity to be a leader. Whether it
be leading a political party, an office project group, or simply leading by setting an example, all
leaders have their own approach and individual style. Not every form or style of leadership is
appropriate for every situation. How we choose to implement our leadership style and translate it to
the situation will dictate the effectiveness of our leadership.

The Anti War Of The Vietnam War
In the mid 1960s a pervasive anti war atmosphere came about surrounding the Vietnam War.
Encompassing this war, the anti war movement was fueled by three ambitious groups who, in their
quest for distinct changes, induced the downfall of the liberalist democratic party and set the stage for
the new conservative republicans with three movements that made up the anti war radicalism. These
three movements include, the New Left movement, Black Power and Women s liberation movement.
All three movements were initiated due to the negative effects of the Vietnam War on their needs,

Many black in America began to feel the need to address this white supremacy that they felt
suppressed under and found that they are only being used as a tool of the white liberal establishment;
liberal whites have not begun to address themselves to the real problem of black people in this
country. The most important lesson they learned was that anything the white man does is never in the
best interest for the black man or community. This led to a growing rage amongst blacks and led them
to take a stand against the problems they faced. However, from the testimony of Anne Moody, a black
girl growing up in Mississippi, the black power movement led to much tension and violence between
the blacks and whites; After the sit in, all I could think of was how sick the Mississippi whites were.

Pretty Little Liars- Psychology Analaysis Paper
Introduction
Pretty Little Liars is a television show based on a set of novels that focuses on the lives of four
teenage girls and the struggles that they face daily. After the murder of their cliques Queen Bee,
Alison, each girl begins to get harassed and an anonymous bully threatens to expose all of their
secrets. They are abused mentally after what seems like a never ending search to discover who the
anonymous person that is harassing them is. The strong relationship that the girls maintain through
their anxiety ridden high school career shows us that friendship can help to keep you strong. We will
be looking specifically at Abnormal Behavior demonstrated throughout the girls high school days;
Social identity theory demonstrated by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many scenes where Alison has different hair colors and looks, and at one point she even
takes on another identity. Her alter ego was a girl named Vivian Darkbloom, and Alison made Vivian
into everything that she wanted to be, but wasn t. There is one scene were Alison is talking to Hannah
and she says Sometimes I like pretending that I m somebody else, haven t you ever tried it? (King,
2010). When Alison says this to Hannah, she says it in a tone of voice that makes the audience believe
that Alison believed it was normal to take the place of another.
The social identity theory is a theory developed by Henry Tajfel, in which Tajfel believes that who we
are socially determines how many positive feelings we have towards ourselves. Basically, if we like
where we stand socially, then we will like who we are and display happiness. In this theory, Tajfel
labels the in group and the out group and says that we will always compare our in group to another s
out group. By comparing these groups, we develop a better personal view on ourselves (King, 2009).
A big factor of the social identity theory is that the groups will tend to critique the differences of the
groups, and overlook the similarities. A modern day example of the social identity theory would be
your everyday high school cheerleaders versus band members. The cheerleaders think of themselves
as the queen bees of the school,

Remembering Charles Dickens Charles Dickens is a famous author who wrote numerous books which
were enjoyed by many throughout the years. His books are known xquisite characters and real life
settings. Charles experienced difficult times as a young boy ( Charles Dickens par. 7). These difficult
times followed him throughout his life. He uses ideas from these struggles to express his feelings
through the books he writes. The many struggles of Charles Dickens early childhood greatly
influenced his writing, making him a great novelist from the Victorian times. Charles Dickens had

8). When his father was released from prison, Charles went to Wellington House Academy where he
Broussard 2 attended school from 1824 to 1827 until his dad was imprisoned again for debt. He
expresses these feelings of despair and loneliness in his novels and short stories. Many of these pieces,
like Great Expectations and Oliver Twist , reference the poor and the oppressed (Merriman par. 5).
Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol displays his feelings about being poor during Christmas
time. Charles references Scrooge s nephew as a poor child, and Scrooge asks his nephew what he has
to be merry about when he doesn t have any money (Dickens, A Christmas Carol 4). The forces that
inspired Dickens to create a powerful, impressive and enduring tale were the profoundly humiliating
experiences of his childhood, the plight of the poor, and their children during the boom decades of the
1830s and 1840s (A Christmas Carol par. 5). Charles family grew up poor and Christmas time is
typically not a good time for people who do not have money. Dickens used his story A Christmas
Carol to voice his feelings about the poor during Christmas time while he was growing up ( A
Christmas Carol par. 4). Charles Dickens uses people from his life as character references for his
books. For example, Charles uses his childhood memories of his father as one of the character
references in A Christmas Carol . While Dickens

Essay on The Media Should NOT Define our Self-Image
Do we choose to define ourselves? Everyday we turn on the television; we are subjected to
advertisements about what we are supposed to be, what we are supposed to wear, and even what we
are supposed to drive. Ultimately we choose the vehicles we drive, but the media has a huge influence
on us. Three television advertisements reveal the vehicles women and men are believed to drive. The
Honda Odyssey is shown in advertisements with a woman driving around kids to their daily functions.
The Ford F150 and the Chevy Silverado are shown with men four wheeling through the hills.
Advertisements tell us what roles we are supposed to play in society. In reality men and women s roles
in society have greatly changed from the past, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Media shapes the world we live in, through advertisements. Most women are working mothers today.
It is a frequent occurrence for a man to help out with daily chores; cooking dinner, cleaning, and
watching the children after school. Yet, many advertisements still depict women taking care of the
children, cleaning house and cooking dinner for the family. Many dads are picking their children from
school, taking them to sports practice, and picking them up afterwards. The van commercial shows a
working mom, but she is still in charge of being the family taxi. The truck commercial shows the dad,
taking his stress out on the road. While mom is hauling the kids around dad is out having fun off
roading in the hills.
Everyday we are defined by the media. Vehicle companies are not the only ones guilty of shaping
society. There are several. American s are getting larger and still models are getting thinner everyday.
Everyone on television has the perfect skin, the perfect hair, and the perfect body, or so it seems to the
viewing audience. The aerodynamic shape of the new van represents a woman s curves and the sleek
outside her smooth, delicate skin. On the other hand the truck is portrayed as indestructible, tough, and
emotionless; like a man should be. Your vehicle isn t just a means of transportation, but an

Essay on Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange
Choice and free will are necessary to maintain humanity, both individually and communally; without
them, man is no longer human but a clockwork orange , a mechanical toy, as demonstrated in Anthony
Burgess novel, A Clockwork Orange . The choice between good and evil is a decision every man must
make throughout his life in order to guide his actions and control his future. Forcing someone to be
good is not as important as the act of someone choosing to be good. This element of choice, no matter
what the outcome, displays man s power as an individual.
A Clockwork Orange starts with Alex posing the question: what s it going to be then, eh? . Burgess
begins the story by demonstrating that Alex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government controls Alex s free will by means of the Ludovico Technique, which makes Alex
physically ill at the mere consideration of violent thoughts. When Alex is in the staja the Governor
states that criminals can best be dealt with on a purely curative basis. Kill the criminal reflex... . The
Governor does not understand that criminal intent is not an unrestrained reaction, but the result of
autonomy. The voice of reason in the prison is the prison Chaplin who questions the ethics of
interfering with God s gift of moral choice, goodness comes from within....goodness is something
chosen. When a man cannot choose he ceases to be a man . Again through one of his characters,
Burgess is stating that inhibiting a person s free will is more evil than a person s ability to choose evil
over good. If one cannot choose, one ceases to be human and is exactly like a machine controlled by
the government.
After Alex undergoes the Ludovico Technique, he stops asking what s it going to be then, eh? only to
prove that Alex has lost his free will. Alex s question that was so prominent disappears and the mere
thought of violence makes him physically ill. Dr Branom explains the effects of the technique to Alex
: you are being made sane, you are being made healthy . The government and the doctors are
convinced that they are making Alex sane and healthy . On the contrary, they are controlling his ability
to have a choice in his actions. The doctors are

in Iraq, would the military get rid of people with such valuable talents? The answer is simple: these
men and women are homosexual. Gays and lesbians can serve in the U.S. military but only if they

to be accepted into the European Union, which would force them to replace their discriminatory

British military started allowing gays to serve openly in its armed forces in 2000, with many citizens

The Interrelationship Between The Overcoat And Gogol
The interrelationship between The Overcoat, written by Nikolai Gogol, and Gogol, written by Jhumpa
Lahiri, may not be apparent at first, but with the help of My Two Lives, also written by Jhumpa Lahiri,
one can see that both The Overcoat and Gogol are connected by ties that hold them together. Although
Gogol and the speaker in My Two Lives share similar backgrounds and can directly relate to each
other, Akaky can also connect to Lahiri and Gogol because all they all yearn for acceptance from those
around them. One point of comparison is the practice of naming connects Akaky, from The Overcoat ,
and Gogol together by having similar practices. Another similarity between all three works is that each
main character questions their identity, eventually overcoming their struggle of being seen as different.
Both Akaky Akakiyevich, and Gogol Ganguli live in cultures where their names have substantial
meaning. Although the way that a person is named differs from culture to culture, the naming process
has similar characteristics. Readers can infer from both The Overcoat and Gogol that names in
Russian and Bengali have significant meaning and helps shape who the person is when they grow
older. However, one thing that varies greatly between these two cultures is when they are named and
how many names they have. In Russian culture, the name is picked after the baby is born, in which the
mother or elders give the child a name and hope that he or she will live up to the

Relationship Between Parents And Parents Spend More Time...
Simple causal relationship tells of the varied effects to society when parents spend more time with
their children. Again, the report by Gerard Clark from New Zealand puts into words some of these
effects. He pointed out how secure attachment formed in the early months, between parent and child,
is a predictor of resilience in later life . He also pointed to how many adolescent issues like crime,
drug abuse, and mental health have their roots in early childhood.
In an article for The Washington Post, author Jane Waldfogel pointed us to a study in Norway linking
the reduction in high school dropout rate to the country s generous parental leave statute. This lower
dropout rate, they claimed, is because of parental involvement in the early months of the child s life, a
very crucial stage when fathers connect with their children and form the foundations of future
relationship; when mothers get to provide the nourishment that their baby needs through breastfeeding
and the emotional connection this practice forms. Again, a properly designed parental leave can
encourage mothers to nurse their babies, a practice that apparently not only helps make healthy babies
now but also well rounded adults later (n. pag.).
Perhaps another reason more involved parents discourage children from dropping out of school is the
amount of support and guidance they are able to relay to their children. This perceived interest from
parents encourages children to achieve more to make their parents proud.

The Importance Of Culture On My Culture
My culture is the Netflix and/or binge watching culture. This culture has a variety of different
elements that are within it. These elements each have their own importance to how they impact my
culture. Also, without any of these elements it would change the culture completely.
To begin, the first element is the values of my culture. Values are the principles or standards that
society uses to make judgments. One of the values associated with Netflix is modification. Netflix is
always being modified so that the viewers could see newly released shows as well as movies. Movies
and TV shows are always being produced as well as what is trending in the country and world.
Another value is variation, this allows subscribers to have an unlimited number of movies and TV
shows to watch. On the Netflix website, the values they used to convey themselves was judgment,
productivity, creativity, intelligence, honesty, communication, selflessness, reliability and passion. I
think these all represent the company very well.
The next element to my culture is beliefs. Beliefs are the opinions or theories that people accept. Some
of the beliefs associated with the beliefs of Netflix are the 5 star rating system that is used to measure
the quality of the show. The higher number of stars the better the movie/show should be. This is also
based on a consensus so even if it has a high rating you still might not like the movie/show and vis
versa. Another belief is that Netflix is more for watching movies not necessary TV shows like Hulu
offers. Some other TV/movie online media streaming websites are: Amazon Prime, Hulu, Sling TV,
HBO Now, etc.

The Long, Bitter Trail

The Long, Bitter Trail
The Indian Removal Act was very controversial during its time, receiving influence from individuals,
local, state and mostly by the federal government. This act gave the president, Andrew Jackson, the
authority to make transactions with Indian tribes in the Southern region of the United States. The
Indian Removal Act was a deal made by President Andrew Jackson with the Indian tribes, forcing
them to leave their occupied land, which happened to be federal territories west of the Mississippi
River. President Andrew Jackson s primary method in Indian Removal was his speech to Congress
regarding his opinions on the act, which included many positive outcomes that would happen if the
Indians were to leave the territory. He claimed that this act would not only benefit the United States as
a whole, but it would also benefit the Indian people. This benefit was called Manifest Destiny or the
idea of the United States expanding its territories from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific. This
expansion would benefit the country not just economically, but agriculturally as well. However,
Manifest Destiny was only an idea, and in order for this idea to become a reality, the governments had
to take action. This action in entirety was the removal of the Indian tribes from the southern regions,
making them travel through very harsh conditions so that Americans could settle in their former
homeland. Overall, the American government wanted to rid the

Zen Buddhisim and Japan Essay
Zen Buddhism and Japan
Japan and the development of Zen Buddhism went hand in hand towards the beginning of the sixth
century. Buddhism was in full bloom in India and the Chinese were adapting it to there Lifestyle when
several Japanese clans began picking it up. Zen Buddhism
Zen Buddhism is a combination of Indian and Chinese thought process revolving around the world as
it is and the discipline of finding enlightenment. The idea of enlightenment or Satori as the Japanese

If there is a statement relating to Geese flying, the quote is then not about actual geese, those are the

that reveals itself when the speaker looks inside at himself. D.T. Suzuki say that Satori must be the
growth of one s inner life and not a verbal implantation brought from the outside (p.10). Zen is a daily
experience, not something brought from outside. The second part of attaining enlightenment is the
following Zen actions just in general. In a way Zen verbalism is similar to Zen actions but Zen
verbalism refers to just the teachings that relate to Zen. This second way of finding enlightenment is
following the path of the Buddha in your everyday life style.
Zen Buddhism became the prominent religion in Japan due to support from popular leaders in the
country. The teaching of Buddhism came into to Japan during the sixth century when Japan was faced
with many feuding clans. Several clans picked up the new religion and soon after one of those clans

Buddhism was declared the official religion of Japan. This created even more feuding, despite the
initial attempts at declaring Buddhism Japan s new national religion. Shinto was the other religion that

The Overall Quality Of Life Of The Asian American Community
Healthcare access, unfortunately, is more difficult for residents for who cannot access transportation
easily. All households in San Francisco, though, are within a quarter mile of a local bus route or rail
station. Proximity, however, does not necessarily equal accessibility, as vulnerable residents like low
income individuals or immigrants have a harder time utilizing services. San Francisco is also known
for having the highest income inequality in the state (CDPH, 2012; SFDPH, 2012).
Experience
One can conclude that the overall quality of life of the Asian American community is moderate. There
is access to resources and services that they need, and most of them are readily available. Not all of
the communities living in San Francisco, though, have equal access to certain services, and there are
still various services that needs to be up to par with the state and national benchmarks. Some of the
major factors that affects access are the inability to pay or distance of the service from their location.
For Chinatown residents, they are living in overcrowded conditions, which can increase their risk for
respiratory and ear infections (CDPH, 2012; SPDFH, 2012). They also face poor sanitation, high
environmental noise, and residential fires. Chinatown residents are facing an increasingly elderly
population, while sitting in a medically underserved area (SFDPH, 2012; Human Service Agency of

My opinion: yes!
Free Bus Rides for The Elderly
Should the elderly receive free bus rides? This is a controversial issue that many countries are faced
with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into consideration. Some
people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have right to benefit the giving back
from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other hand, some disapproval
voices emerge in terms of influence of social economy or unequal treatment between the elderly and
the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should receive free bus rides are lacking of
finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public transportations. A lack of finance is the
first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides. A majority of elderly is limited in their
finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even not able to pay their fundamental living needs
such as medicine and groceries. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 12% seniors are living at the
poverty level, and their income become lower and lower with increasing age; therefore, they would
have difficulty in their constant expenses such as healthcare, housing, food, and so on. About 14.2% of
all these expenses are spent on transportation. The National Council on Aging shows as well that the
elderly are struggling with housing and health bills, lack of access to

The Franciscan Order; a Victim of Its Own Success Essay
The Franciscan movement was a religious order that arose out of one man s ideologies and beliefs. St.
Francis of Assisi s ideals of absolute poverty, obedience, humility, and simplicity were uncomplicated
and basic, but during his life and even shortly after his death these ideologies were gradually shifting
and causing a great amount of debate. The immense size of the Franciscan Order combined with the
mass amount of popularity that the Order gained made changes in the ideology and objectives of
Francis messages and teaching almost an inevitable necessity. Some could argue that in many ways
the Franciscan Order s original ideologies were a victim of the movement s success. This is evident in
the main rules of the Order, what the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francis did not want any kind of class distinction in his Order. However, as the priests became more in
number, so did their demands for books and altars. And lastly was the matter of study, Francis was
against any kind of studying, he felt that it interfered with the notion of absolute poverty and humility,
but none of the priest friars were open to the idea of being entirely cut off from any form of
intellectual pursuit. They argued that education was required in order to preach, convert and prevent
heresy. The sheer size of the Order, accompanied by the feelings of many of the new members with no
direct loyalty to Francis made it nearly impossible for his followers to maintain Francis ideals and
objectives while he was still alive. New members in distance provinces had no real or physical
connection with the saint except for the popular piety that his order had evoked. Many wanted rules
within the Order changed, and with the large number of reformers, it became more difficult for Francis
to maintain the direction of the Order he had founded. These were just the initial problems that the
Franciscan Order faced, after the death of Francis in 1226 many of the rules dealing with main
ideologies began to shift from austere to lax, and as a result there was a splitting and shifting in the
faction.
Another problem with the Order was the ideal to live a life like Christ, to be a lowly person and

The meaning of a word to me is not as exact as the meaning of a color. Colors and shapes make a
more definite statement than words. I write this because such odd things have been done about me
with words. I have often been told what to paint. I am often amazed at the spoken and written word
telling me what I have painted. I make this effort because no one else can know how my paintings
happen. Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant. It is what I have done with
where I have been that should be of interest.

The flowers that she created epitomize her growth, success, magnetism, and energy at that certain

attraction to flowers, and the idea of something fresh and fragile.
Close observations of O Keeffe s flowers show that she never really pursued the realistic approach.

A Report Of The Bezymianny Volcano During The Kamchatka...
Abstract
Zoning in plagioclase feldspar is often an indicator of magmatic differentiation. This is mainly due to
the process of fractional crystallization changing the chemistry of magmatic bodies, and has been
documented in many localities. A case study will examine a 2010 report of the Bezymianny Volcano
in the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia, where researchers studied oscillatory zoning in the plagioclase.
An interpretation of the results has shown frequent replenishments to the magma chamber, and many
magmatic differentiation processes including magma mixing, addition of volatiles, and reheating and
convection the melt body (Shcherbakov et al., 2010).
Introduction
Zoning occurs in plagioclase feldspars as they crystallize out of a melt, as composition of the magma
changes. These changes occur due to the formation of minerals consuming certain elements present in
the magma (Gill, 2010). Plagioclase is an excellent indicator for this progressive depletion of
elements, as it forms a continuous series of anorthite (calcium rich, CaAl2Si2O8) to albite (sodium
rich, NaAlSi3O8) (Nesse, 2011). Because of the differences in composition, the feldspar chemistry
can be used to interpret the magmatic processes which led to the production of these feldspars. The
zoning pattern reflects the chemical changes, which have occurred to the magma body and can show
magmatic differentiation processes such as magma mixing and changes in temperature, pressure and
water content (Churikova

Essay about Freedom of the Flapper
Partying, drinking, and dancing; these are the adjectives most commonly associated with the life of a
flapper. While these descriptions are accurate, they do not inform people of the advantages and gains
flappers made for the female gender. The flapper embodied the idea of freedom from the usual duties
of a young female in the 1920s. These women were no longer tied down with the expectation that they
immediately become a wife and mother, as well as being conservative and modest. By diving into a
look at the fashion, music, and lifestyle of the flapper during the 1920s it will become obvious that
they were not only independent, liberated, and enjoying many more freedoms than they had

However, it is in their style where they contrast the most greatly with the women of the 1920s. They
wore long skirts and dresses which hugged their curves and their hair was long. The look of the
flapper was drastically different from that of the earlier generations of women in the United States.
Their hair was cut into a short bob and they wore much more make up than previous women. The hem
line of the flapper s dresses rose to the knee and they began bounding their chests and wearing high
heels. Along with the rise of the hem line, nude colored stockings were favored over the former black;
the flapper also bared her arms; this gave off a much more naked look than any previous generations.
They did away with the corset and instead adopted the girdle, which simply flattened the abdomen
rather than emphasizing the waist. The infamous Gabrielle Coco Chanel s clothing designs became the
epitome of 1920 s style.1 Flappers who enjoyed dancing and jazz music were referred to as jazz
babies . The music of the 1920s included ragtime, blues, and jazz; all of which were considered to be
an American art.2 However, it is jazz music that resonated most thoroughly with the flapper. Jazz was
an extremely different type of music for this era in comparison to that of their parents. This new music
was loud and sultry with innovative and unusual rhythms; it was seen as being a bad influence which

Forced Ranking
In today s market world many companies use forced ranking as a effective performance management
approach. According to Bryars, using this technique encourages a negative impact on productivity, a
competitive work environment, dysfunctional staff performance, and no employee engagement as a
team effort. Furthermore, when employers rank employees, they lose information. For example, the
difference between someone who is ranked at 70% and someone who is ranked at 20% would be
minimal information compared. Let s take for example salesmen, the difference between your top
performers and your bottom performers is the information needed, this could the difference of a very

For example if you re in sales, you can boost your personal sales by 60%, and if percentage is more
than your peers you are going to be ranked at the top. Seems like a win win right, but here s the
problem. It s called the law of unattended consequences, and according to Norton, the concept of
unintended consequences is one of the building blocks of economics maintained that each individual
is seeking only his own gain led by an invisible hand to promote an end which was no part of his
intention. The second way a person can succeed in being ranked is making sure that the teammates
they are competing with in the rankings, do less as well. For example if I m a salesperson, I can
damage you as my competitor in the rankings, then I m going to do better. The bottom line is there is
no I in team. When employers start ranking as something like sales figures, employers are not taking
into account other items. For example, a teammate that helps others do well in their sales compliance.
So what happens is in the ranking system, employers provide a hindrance for employees to help one
another. The result of this would be working against one another, withholding information,
withholding of resources (Norton,

A paycheck cannot be the only motivation. The employee must want to take stake in the operation of
the company and understand their work is critical to the mission of the company. Continuous Learning
/ Workforce Development Former CEO of Intel Andrew Grove once said, Success breeds
complacency. Complacency breeds failure (1996). It is important for a company to provide its staff
with the opportunities to develop and provide new insights into company processes. While in his
tenure at Intel, Grove urged executive to allow staff to experiment with new techniques and processes
while concurrently performing the production of existing products (Grove, 1996). Acknowledging the
importance of creative freedom and invention allows for an improved process to be implemented
without a significant reduction in production levels (Sheridan, 2004). Learning enhances people s
abilities; it drives creation, workplace competencies and motivates others to do the same (Loon, Lim,
Teck, amp; Lai, 2012). A company can develop their staff internally while creating new ideas,
updating procedures and processes. Constant improvements do not come automatically. Instituting a
program that promotes continuous learning and workforce development can eliminate down time
between successes and will create a substantial competitive advantage. Strategic decision maker As an
organization undergoes change, its leaders also need to have the willingness to do so.

Energy Is An Important Part Of Human Evolution
Energy has been an important part of human evolution. Ever since human began development, energy
was a major factor. We need energy for everything we do. Heat is one of many types of energy, and it
is a very important type of energy. We use heat to warm our shelter, drive cars. Heat transfer is one of
the most obvious processes in the nature. It occurs at all the places such as machine, biological
creatures, etc... In engineering this heat transfer is a key part of understanding heat energy. The study
of heat behaviour and harnessing heat energy is called thermodynamics. Thermodynamics is used for
many areas such as nuclear power plant, car engines, etc... This essay will cover topics such as, what
is energy, and what makes it useful? , what is thermodynamics, success rate for harnessing and
manipulating energy and how energy is vital to us all and how we use it.
Firstly, energy is a power produced from physical or chemical resources, such as heat provided to
work the machines. It defines the capacity for doing the work, generating heat, etc... There are many
types of energies such as mechanical, electrical, thermal, nuclear, etc... This essay will cover thermal
energy. Thermal energy is the random motion of particles in the substance. An example of this
situation would be warming a cup of water, where water particles gets in random motion when heated.
The uses of thermal energy are very broad. Thermal energy is used in simple tasks such as a coffee

Shor Theory Of Hypnosis
Hypnosis, also known as hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion, consists of a state of trance in which a
center of attention and a more intense concentration is experienced. Hypnosis is usually performed
with the help of a therapist who uses verbal repetition and mental images. When a person is under the
effects of hypnosis, they usually feel calm and relaxed, and are more willing to receive suggestions.
Hypnosis can be used to help people control unwanted behaviors or to help them cope better with
anxiety or pain. Contrary to what many people believe, although people will be more willing to
receive suggestions during hypnosis, they will not lose control of their behavior.
How does hypnosis arise? According to Ronald E. Shor, from ancient times, men of the most diverse
cultures practiced hypnotic and suggestive phenomena for the healing of the faith and for magical
religious and other purposes. Shor explains that, in spite of that, it was during the Age of Ultra

In his book African Religions and Philosophy professor John Mbiti continually explains that all
African cultures and societies, regardless of differences in national origin, language, or ethnicity are
deeply religious. African traditional religion is so much a part of the African traditional heritage that it
is found in every aspect of life. Traditional religion for the Africans is the normal way of looking at
the world and experiencing life itself. Therefore, as Mbiti interprets, A study of these religious systems
is, therefore, ultimately a study of the peoples themselves in all the complexities of both traditional

Furthermore, it is not unusual for an African Christian to participate in Christian religious practice by
going to church on Sunday and then to participate in African religious practice later on in the same
week.
At first this was something I did not truly understand because in my religion (Judaism) I believe we
are taught to only participate in the practice/rituals of one single faith, the Jewish faith. However, my
confusion was cleared up by professor Mbiti s following explanation:
It is not enough to learn and embrace a faith which is active once a week, either on Sunday or Friday,
while the rest of the week is virtually empty. It is not enough to embrace a faith which is confined to a
church building or mosque, which is locked up six days and opened only once or twice a week. Unless
Christianity and Islam fully occupy the whole person as much as, if not more than, traditional
religions do, most converts to these faiths will continue to revert to their old beliefs and practices for
perhaps six days a week, and certainly in times or emergency and crisis. (p.3)
When evaluating these statements in the context of what I had learned earlier regarding how African
traditional religions permeate every aspect of a person s life, everything in existence has actual or
potential religious significance, and that there is no dichotomy between

people looking to start a family in the United States are turning to international adoptions because the
process is easier than adopting within this country. However, many of these adoptive parents are not
ready for the challenges of adopting a child from another country. Not only are the adoptive parents
and the children at different levels of readiness to attach but the child is forced into a new culture as
well. Many of the children adopted internationally have been mistreated prior to adoption and as a
resulting have great difficulty forming attachments with their adoptive parents. It is difficult for these

A number of children when adopted come to the United States with nothing from their cultural pasts
and must face the anti immigrant sentiment that is prevalent in our society. Many adopted children are
mourning the loss of their cultural context in many ways that adoptive parents and practitioners are
not prepared to deal with.
Although the number of international adoptions are increasing in the United States there have been
few studies focusing on the adjustment, identity, and attachment of international adoptees. There is
very little research on adult adoptees and the ethnic/cultural socialization and identity developmental
process. According to Freidlander (1999), most of the available research considers self esteem or
adjustment of adopted children, not the process by which they begin forming an understanding and
acceptance of their identity.
This topic merits attention in the research field so this study proposes to understand the adoptive
experience of internationally adopted adults in terms of their identity development, attachment
experience, and adaptation to life in an American family. A qualitative interview approach will be used
while interviewing internationally adopted adults to understand the complex experience of adoption
and how one adapts to this experience. This study is developed in hopes to inform prospective
adoptive families and mental health practitioners of the experiences and challenges faced by
international adoptees so they are

Payment of College Athletes
Over the recent decades, school games have picked up tremendous popularity over the United States.
Whether it be football, ball, or hockey, since the time that the turn of the century, intercollegiate games
have accumulated a surplus of income to their individual Colleges, and also expanding the notoriety of
the School s notoriety. For instance, in a study directed by the Orland Sentiental, it was evaluated that
the College of Texas Sports System had the most astounding income of some other College at
$120,288,370 (Robbins, Josh). Yet with this expansive whole of cash, no school competitors are
lawfully made up for their work. As indicated by NCAA standards, You are not qualified for support
in a game on the off chance that you have ever. Taken pay, or the guarantee of pay, for contending in
that game (NCAA Regulations 1). Because of this law, not just are school competitors experiencing
issues in paying off their school educational cost, additionally numerous players are generally paid
under the table through underground markets. These novice competitors have no impetus to stay in
school and completion their individual degrees, as numerous can t bear to pay for the undeniably
costly school experience. While numerous contend that school competitors shouldn t be paid as they
are simply novices speaking to their schools, I contend that players must be paid to spare the

The Globe Theatre Research Paper
The Globe Theatre became what it is today because of its history. What was its history exactly?
Unfortunately, those are two questions many people don t have an answer to. So, what is the history?
The history of The Globe Theatre comes from a building known as The Theatre. The Theatre, had
been built by James Burbage, in Shoreditch (District in the East End of London) in 1576. The Burbage
s had a 20 year lease of the land where the theater had been built. When the lease was up, the landlord
intended on knocking the theater down. However, with the lease ending, James Burbage built the
theatre in Blackfriars as a replacement. Unfortunately the wealthy people of Blackfriars persuaded the
government to forbid its use for plays. James Burbage died in 1597. The members of the Lord
Chamberlain s Men had to rent a theater. In 1598, they decided to build a theater of their own. The
Burbage s sons got their fathers inheritance, Cuthbert and Richard, which were connected the
Blackfriars, they formed an agreement with Shakespeare and a few other actors, who became partners
for the new Globe. Each member had their own share, the two brothers, Cuthbert and Richard, got a
bigger share than the others. Each person s shares became smaller as ... Show more content on

In 1608, when the company could finally commit to James Burbage s plan, the members chose to use
both theaters, using the Globe in the summer and the roofed Blackfriars in the winter. If they had
wanted to, they could have rented a theater to someone else, since there was a shortage of theaters in
London during this time. They were also given another choice to change to the Blackfriars for good in
1613, when the Globe burned down to the ground, its roofing had accidentally got set on fire by a
cannon during a performance of Henry VIII. However, with the importance and the sentimental value
of the theater the members decided to rebuild the Globe better than it had been

Social Security And Retirement Practices
According to Moody Sasser, critics of retirement as it exists today have pointed out to the rigidity of
retirement practices. Retirement is typically an all or nothing proposition. Would it not be better to
have some form of flexibility or phased retirement, in which employees gradually reduce their work
hours or take longer vacation? The thinking goes that such an approach might enable older workers to
adjust better to retirement and permit employees to make gradual changes instead of coping with the
abrupt departure of a well integrated employee. Retirement could be radically redefined in the future if
phased retirement were to take hold. (p. 425).

Social security explain an estimate of your monthly benefits if you were to become disabled or
benefits for your surviving children and spouse. (Social Security Administration, n.d)
Many people are not aware that after the program gets depleted, that it can pay benefits at a reduced
level. About 10, 000 baby boomer are expected to retire every day which is the cost of the program.
The number of American retiring in 2033 will change from 44.6 million to 77 million. In the
meantime, workers paying into social security will fall from 2.8 to 2.1. This is a retirement crisis that
Generation X and millennials will have to face. Lawmakers will have to reduce benefits or raise
revenue for the program or both. Changes that are preferred are raising payroll taxes from 6.2 to 7.2

Responsibility Act
I take full responsibility for my own actions. I do things based on my own moral and values. If
someone is in the store and do not have enough money I give them the rest of the money. I am not
looking for anything in return. To me, this is nothing more than lending a helping hand. If I was in that
situation I would want someone to do it for me.
Social Justice As a global citizen, I like helping others in the form of donations or even volunteering.
When people are having fundraisers if I have the funds I just give them some money. I do not have to
render the services. I just make donations. I also do what I can to help others in need. I treat everyone
I come across with respect and love. I enjoy putting people in a positive environment. It brings
enjoyment to their live as well as mine. If someone calls me and needs a favor I never hesitate if I can
do it.

Swiss Army Man And The Myth Of Cain And Abel
Swiss Army Man the Myth of Cain and Abel
In the first book of the bible, the Book of Genesis, readers are introduced to the characters of Cain and
Abel. The myth of Cain and Abel relates to jealousy and rage, and how there are always consequences
for our actions. The morals that can be learned from Cain an Abel are still relevant today, but in
another format, such as in the poster for the 2016 film Swiss Army Man. The Swiss Army Man poster
and the myth of Cain and Abel have overlapping themes, such as death and isolation. These themes
are still prominent today, and the poster can serve as a modern day take on the centuries old myth.
The myth of Cain and Abel originates from the bible, and is best known for being a story of firsts.
Cain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
God favored Abel s sacrifice of milk and meat over Cain s offering of fruits. This angered Cain, and
presumably out of jealously, he murdered his brother, Abel. Just as Cain was the first physical birth in
the bible, Abel is the first recorded death (and murder) of the bible. God questions Cain on the death
of Abel, and Cain lies and tells God that he did not murder his brother.
Although is has been interrupted in multiple ways, it is ultimately believed that Cain s jealously of
God favoring his brother s sacrifice in relation to his own is what lead to his rage and commitment of
murder. A main moral in the myth of the story of Cain and Abel is that jealously can lead to sin. Cain s
jealously of Abel is what causes him to lash out, and later lie to God about his actions to cover up his
original sins.
Roland Barthes analysis of the Pazini ad in Rhetoric of the Image explains that the by putting aside the
linguistic message, we are left with the pure image (Barthes, 34). By ignoring the words written on the
image, the poster for the film Swiss Army Man (2016) depicts two characters on an isolated green
area, with water in the foreground and a faded skyline in the background. Although they equally share
the green area, one character is straight up, while the other is hunched over.
The one with straight body language is wearing brighter

Ancient Egypts Effect on Modern Society
The museum has always been a place for all different types of people from the public to go and
appreciate art and feel reconnected with the past. People may go to the museum for these reasons or a
variety of others. But for whatever reasons they choose to go to the museum it always has an influence
on that person s relationship between them and the history they viewed. Specifically speaking the
museum has a big influence on the public and Ancient Egypt. The museum is already a place of
history and mystery and Ancient Egypt is one of the most mysterious ancient cultures. With so little
known about these ancient people it only makes sense that the museum would be a good place to
strengthen that feeling of mystery. Ever since the modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weather that be through artifact relics or souvenirs somebody is always trying to take a piece of
history with them. They might be doing this for a variety of reasons. They may just want something
interesting on a shelf to start a discussion where they can gloat about their recent trip to Egypt. Or they
may want to have it because it makes them feel closer to the ancient times and the mystery of it all.
But for whatever reason people always want to have some sort of item that relates them to the history
or journey. The museum does this by providing them with a large varieties, the person who wants to
fulfill that desire of owning a souvenir or relic, to choose from. You can buy almost anything Ancient
Egypt related at the gift shop in a museum. From Lego pens to imitation artifacts, the museum is a
great place to fill a need to buy a souvenir. Also what better time would it be to buy something
Egyptian than right after viewing an exhibit of the real artifacts. So by being able to create a need for a
physical relic and then fulfill it the museum is a perfect place to strengthen the bond between the
public and Ancient Egypt. So the museum as it seams is a very powerful place when it comes to
strengthening the bond between the public and Ancient Egypt. Weather the museum is providing just a
simple craving of curiosity or to providing the perfect place to shop for a relic

Adolf Hitler And His Nazi Party
Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party are key in the story of the modern Jewish plight within central Europe.
Despite a vast number of the laws passed within Nazi Germany and then Nazi occupied Europe being
applicable to the Jewry of Germany, and Europe it is clear that it was not exclusively for the Jews and
the effect of this was not worse for one or another. However, this essay endeavours to discuss the main
characteristics of the Nazi policies on the Jewish population and it is easy to see that the main
characteristic was exclusion aided by terror, which only appeared to brew with the well established
feelings of anti Semitism and become increasingly more extreme. However it is important to
acknowledge the debate around the subject, as suggested by Wildt it is important to not willingly
accept and adopt the school of thought as a clear cut unfolding of Nazi policy, where he suggests that
anti Semitism has been a part of Germanic life for centuries and not a product of the regime. Before
going into the characteristics of the policies of the Nazi party it is important to understand about the
origins of the party itself and therefore the origins of the party s anti Semitic nature. The National
Socialist German Workers Party commonly known in English as the Nazi Party was a political party in
Germany active between 1920 and 1945. The party grew from the German Nationalist, racist and
populist anti communist paramilitary culture which fought against the communist uprisings

One gets to experience things he never thought of and the other we will be behind bars until death for a robbery. In this novel, it really shows the difference between the two and how they grew up. They grew up at the same time, on the same streets, and with the same name. Their stories came together and one helped the other. Woody knew that Wes took it to heart and was trying to divert his attention. To no avail, he was already outside where the group was hanging out not knowing the cops were there. I Moreover, we shouldn t become someone who we are not. I believe what drives our judgement is the way people think of others. Today in this world, people are close minded and not open to new ideas. Society s think that people who grew up from the bad side of town, they will get nowhere in life. We judge people for the way they look, what they wear, where they re from, where they live, etc. We judge out of our own fears and insecurities. We must treat people the way the want to be treated, not by how you think they should be treated. When we judge someone, do we really know what goes on in their life. Also, still discriminate others to this day, such as, we still judge people based on their race. We have to treat people with equal rights no matter what race or ethnicity they are. A middle school teacher was suspended with pay for making remarks about her students on Face Book (Norwalk, 2010). A woman was fired after criticizing her boss on face book ( Fired over Facebook, 2011). A young man was rejected for a position at Cisco because he tweeted that he had to weigh the fat paycheck against the drive and work (Popkin, 2009). These examples go on and on. Clay Shirky writes in her book Cognitive Surplus of a day where HR departments will overlook small statements against organizations because in the future most everyone will have at least made one mistake (2010). Addressing the issue of conflicts in personal branding in the future will rely heavily on the individual company policies. Middle managers will need to formulate new business and functional level strategies. For example they will have to establish functional level policy s to allow employees to communicate personal brands in a business oriented fashion. Middle managers will also have to implement company level restrictions for issues that may harm the company brand. Middle management will also have to formulate functional level strategies with the HR department. These strategies will focus on hiring employees with both character in their personal brands and talent in their resumes. These strategies will be heavily influenced by both internal factors (the mission statement and culture of the company) and external factors (the laws, politics, company opportunities, threats, and environment). Both middle managers and employees of the future will have high levels of resiliency in order to compete in such an interconnected world. Reasons For The Study Of Spirituality From A Theological... ntroduction The aim of this essay is to discuss Wolftiech s reasons for the study of spirituality from a practical theological perspective. It will do this by outlining the reasons for study found in Wolftiech s writings. Resultantly, it will discuss the strengths, weaknesses, and implications of Wolftiech s reasons viewed from a Reformed theological frame of reference. John Frame has defined theology as: the application of the Word of God by persons to all areas of life 7 This idea of whole life application has an impact upon our thought/orthodoxy, our action/orthopraxis and our affection/orthopathos.8,9 However, this definition, in contrast to Wolftiech, gives primacy to the authority of Scripture. Within the reformed perspective, primacy is given to scripture as the rule for faith and life .10Frost and Hirsch assert that orthodoxy right belief is an indispensable element of any Christian discipleship. It is evident the church frequently sees orthodoxy in the narrow sense, as a commitment to propositional truth, assuming that the knowledge of God is only received cognitively, However, the cognitive knowledge of God needs to be balanced by orthopraxy and orthopathy in order for the believer to come to a full orbed, biblical engagement with (and knowledge of) God. 11 Conversely, Wolftiech at times places much emphasis on pathos. There is one scene were Alison is talking to Hannah and she says Sometimes I like pretending that I m somebody else, haven t you ever tried it? (King, 2010). When Alison says this to Hannah, she says it in a tone of voice that makes the audience believe that Alison believed it was normal to take the place of another. The social identity theory is a theory developed by Henry Tajfel, in which Tajfel believes that who we are socially determines how many positive feelings we have towards ourselves. Basically, if we like where we stand socially, then we will like who we are and display happiness. In this theory, Tajfel labels the in group and the out group and says that we will always compare our in group to another s out group. By comparing these groups, we develop a better personal view on ourselves (King, 2009). A big factor of the social identity theory is that the groups will tend to critique the differences of the groups, and overlook the similarities. A modern day example of the social identity theory would be your everyday high school cheerleaders versus band members. The cheerleaders think of themselves as the queen bees of the school, ... When his father was released from prison, Charles went to Wellington House Academy where he Broussard 2 attended school from 1824 to 1827 until his dad was imprisoned again for debt. He expresses these feelings of despair and loneliness in his novels and short stories. Many of these pieces, like Great Expectations and Oliver Twist , reference the poor and the oppressed (Merriman par. 5). Charles Dickens novel A Christmas Carol displays his feelings about being poor during Christmas time. Charles references Scrooge s nephew as a poor child, and Scrooge asks his nephew what he has to be merry about when he doesn t have any money (Dickens, A Christmas Carol 4). The forces that inspired Dickens to create a powerful, impressive and enduring tale were the profoundly humiliating experiences of his childhood, the plight of the poor, and their children during the boom decades of the 1830s and 1840s (A Christmas Carol par. 5). Charles family grew up poor and Christmas time is typically not a good time for people who do not have money. Dickens used his story A Christmas Carol to voice his feelings about the poor during Christmas time while he was growing up ( A Christmas Carol par. 4). The choice between good and evil is a decision every man must make throughout his life in order to guide his actions and control his future. Forcing someone to be good is not as important as the act of someone choosing to be good. This element of choice, no matter what the outcome, displays man s power as an individual. One might ask why, during this time of combating Islamic terrorist networks and insurgents in Iraq, would the military get rid of people with such valuable talents? The answer is simple: these men and women are homosexual. Gays and lesbians can serve in the U.S. military but only if they keep their sexuality a secret. The Interrelationship Between The Overcoat And Gogol The interrelationship between The Overcoat, written by Nikolai Gogol, and Gogol, written by Jhumpa Lahiri, may not be apparent at first, but with the help of My Two Lives, also written by Jhumpa Lahiri, one can see that both The Overcoat and Gogol are connected by ties that hold them together. Although Gogol and the speaker in My Two Lives share similar backgrounds and can directly relate to each other, Akaky can also connect to Lahiri and Gogol because all they all yearn for acceptance from those around them. One point of comparison is the practice of naming connects Akaky, from The Overcoat , and Gogol together by having similar practices. Another similarity between all three works is that each main character questions their identity, eventually overcoming their struggle of being seen as different. Both Akaky Akakiyevich, and Gogol Ganguli live in cultures where their names have substantial meaning. Although the way that a person is named differs from culture to culture, the naming process has similar characteristics. Readers can infer from both The Overcoat and Gogol that names in Russian and Bengali have significant meaning and helps shape who the person is when they grow older. However, one thing that varies greatly between these two cultures is when they are named and how many names they have. In Russian culture, the name is picked after the baby is born, in which the mother or elders give the child a name and hope that he or she will live up to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. Relationship Between Parents And Parents Spend More Time... Simple causal relationship tells of the varied effects to society when parents spend more time with their children. Again, the report by Gerard Clark from New Zealand puts into words some of these effects. He pointed out how secure attachment formed in the early months, between parent and child, is a predictor of resilience in later life . He also pointed to how many adolescent issues like crime, drug abuse, and mental health have their roots in early childhood. In an article for The Washington Post, author Jane Waldfogel pointed us to a study in Norway linking the reduction in high school dropout rate to the country s generous parental leave statute. This lower dropout rate, they claimed, is because of parental involvement in the early months of the child s life, a very crucial stage when fathers connect with their children and form the foundations of future relationship; when mothers get to provide the nourishment that their baby needs through breastfeeding and the emotional connection this practice forms. Again, a properly designed parental leave can encourage mothers to nurse their babies, a practice that apparently not only helps make healthy babies now but also well rounded adults later (n. pag.). Perhaps another reason more involved parents discourage children from dropping out of school is the amount of support and guidance they are able to relay to their children. This perceived interest from parents encourages children to achieve more to make their parents proud. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These elements each have their own importance to how they impact my culture. Also, without any of these elements it would change the culture completely. To begin, the first element is the values of my culture. Values are the principles or standards that society uses to make judgments. One of the values associated with Netflix is modification. Netflix is always being modified so that the viewers could see newly released shows as well as movies. Movies and TV shows are always being produced as well as what is trending in the country and world. Another value is variation, this allows subscribers to have an unlimited number of movies and TV shows to watch. On the Netflix website, the values they used to convey themselves was judgment, productivity, creativity, intelligence, honesty, communication, selflessness, reliability and passion. I think these all represent the company very well. The next element to my culture is beliefs. Beliefs are the opinions or theories that people accept. Some of the beliefs associated with the beliefs of Netflix are the 5 star rating system that is used to measure the quality of the show. The higher number of stars the better the movie/show should be. This is also based on a consensus so even if it has a high rating you still might not like the movie/show and vis versa. Another belief is that Netflix is more for watching movies not necessary TV shows like Hulu offers. Some other TV/movie online media streaming websites are: Amazon Prime, Hulu, Sling TV, HBO Now, etc. Knowledge is the ability to be informed and understand concepts to help people through life. There are several types of knowledge someone needs to understand when they use Netflix one of which is how to use the technology. From how to properly run a computer to how to run Netflix and navigate through the app. Another is the ability to understand the language the show is in, and if it s not offered in someone s first language then you can put the subscripts on so you can understand it. This act gave the president, Andrew Jackson, the authority to make transactions with Indian tribes in the Southern region of the United States. The Indian Removal Act was a deal made by President Andrew Jackson with the Indian tribes, forcing them to leave their occupied land, which happened to be federal territories west of the Mississippi River. President Andrew Jackson s primary method in Indian Removal was his speech to Congress regarding his opinions on the act, which included many positive outcomes that would happen if the Indians were to leave the territory. He claimed that this act would not only benefit the United States as a whole, but it would also benefit the Indian people. This benefit was called Manifest Destiny or the idea of the United States expanding its territories from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific. This expansion would benefit the country not just economically, but agriculturally as well. However, Manifest Destiny was only an idea, and in order for this idea to become a reality, the governments had to take action. This action in entirety was the removal of the Indian tribes from the southern regions, making them travel through very harsh conditions so that Americans could settle in their former homeland. All households in San Francisco, though, are within a quarter mile of a local bus route or rail station. Proximity, however, does not necessarily equal accessibility, as vulnerable residents like low income individuals or immigrants have a harder time utilizing services. San Francisco is also known for having the highest income inequality in the state (CDPH, 2012; SFDPH, 2012). Experience One can conclude that the overall quality of life of the Asian American community is moderate. There is access to resources and services that they need, and most of them are readily available. Not all of the communities living in San Francisco, though, have equal access to certain services, and there are still various services that needs to be up to par with the state and national benchmarks. Some of the major factors that affects access are the inability to pay or distance of the service from their location. This is a controversial issue that many countries are faced with in nowadays. People analyze this problem by taking both pros and cons into consideration. Some people are in favor of the elderly riding bus for free because they have right to benefit the giving back from the society to which they devote most of their lifetime. On the other hand, some disapproval voices emerge in terms of influence of social economy or unequal treatment between the elderly and the others. The reasons why I strongly believe the elderly should receive free bus rides are lacking of finance, preventing traffic accidents, and promoting public transportations. A lack of finance is the first reason that the elderly should receive free bus rides. A majority of elderly is limited in their finance after they got retired; they are sometimes even not able to pay their fundamental living needs such as medicine and groceries. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 12% seniors are living at the poverty level, and their income become lower and lower with increasing age; therefore, they would have difficulty in their constant expenses such as healthcare, housing, food, and so on. The immense size of the Franciscan Order combined with the mass amount of popularity that the Order gained made changes in the ideology and objectives of Francis messages and teaching almost an inevitable necessity. • 27. A Report Of The Bezymianny Volcano During The Kamchatka... Abstract Zoning in plagioclase feldspar is often an indicator of magmatic differentiation. This is mainly due to the process of fractional crystallization changing the chemistry of magmatic bodies, and has been documented in many localities. A case study will examine a 2010 report of the Bezymianny Volcano in the Kamchatka peninsula of Russia, where researchers studied oscillatory zoning in the plagioclase. An interpretation of the results has shown frequent replenishments to the magma chamber, and many magmatic differentiation processes including magma mixing, addition of volatiles, and reheating and convection the melt body (Shcherbakov et al., 2010). Introduction Zoning occurs in plagioclase feldspars as they crystallize out of a melt, as composition of the magma changes. These changes occur due to the formation of minerals consuming certain elements present in the magma (Gill, 2010). Plagioclase is an excellent indicator for this progressive depletion of elements, as it forms a continuous series of anorthite (calcium rich, CaAl2Si2O8) to albite (sodium rich, NaAlSi3O8) (Nesse, 2011). Because of the differences in composition, the feldspar chemistry can be used to interpret the magmatic processes which led to the production of these feldspars. The zoning pattern reflects the chemical changes, which have occurred to the magma body and can show magmatic differentiation processes such as magma mixing and changes in temperature, pressure and water content (Churikova ... • 34. Blood Doping In Sports Blood doping in sports has been a controversial topic for some time now. Debating on whether it should be legal have been plaguing experts for years. Some see doping as a major advantage to athletes. Others see it as just another source of training. Even with all the controversy you can not help but agree with the majority of experts; blood doping should stay illegal in sports. Blood doping is the injection of oxygenated blood into an athlete before an event in an attempt to enhance athletic performance. From most people s outlooks doping is natural. Blood doping is technically the same as sleeping at high altitudes, or in oxygen tents. They all cause the proportion of oxygen carrying red blood cells to rise. So if those are legal forms ... The manipulation for this study was to prime each group differently before taking the questionnaires. The positive humor group was asked to think of a moment when their spouse used positive humor, humor used to reduce tension and bring closeness. The avoidant humor group was asked to think of a moment when their spouse used avoidant humor, humor that is used to avoid conflict or change the topic. The control group was then asked to think of their spouse s somatic features. In his book African Religions and Philosophy professor John Mbiti continually explains that all African cultures and societies, regardless of differences in national origin, language, or ethnicity are deeply religious. African traditional religion is so much a part of the African traditional heritage that it is found in every aspect of life. Traditional religion for the Africans is the normal way of looking at the world and experiencing life itself. Therefore, as Mbiti interprets, A study of these religious systems is, therefore, ultimately a study of the peoples themselves in all the complexities of both traditional and modern life. (p.1). Furthermore, it is not unusual for an African Christian to participate in Christian religious practice by going to church on Sunday and then to participate in African religious practice later on in the same week. At first this was something I did not truly understand because in my religion (Judaism) I believe we are taught to only participate in the practice/rituals of one single faith, the Jewish faith. However, my confusion was cleared up by professor Mbiti s following explanation: It is not enough to learn and embrace a faith which is active once a week, either on Sunday or Friday, while the rest of the week is virtually empty. It is not enough to embrace a faith which is confined to a church building or mosque, which is locked up six days and opened only once or twice a week. Unless Christianity and Islam fully occupy the whole person as much as, if not more than, traditional religions do, most converts to these faiths will continue to revert to their old beliefs and practices for perhaps six days a week, and certainly in times or emergency and crisis. (p.3) When evaluating these statements in the context of what I had learned earlier regarding how African traditional religions permeate every aspect of a person s life, everything in existence has actual or potential religious significance, and that there is no dichotomy between ... Many adopted children are mourning the loss of their cultural context in many ways that adoptive parents and practitioners are not prepared to deal with. Although the number of international adoptions are increasing in the United States there have been few studies focusing on the adjustment, identity, and attachment of international adoptees. There is very little research on adult adoptees and the ethnic/cultural socialization and identity developmental process. According to Freidlander (1999), most of the available research considers self esteem or adjustment of adopted children, not the process by which they begin forming an understanding and acceptance of their identity. This topic merits attention in the research field so this study proposes to understand the adoptive experience of internationally adopted adults in terms of their identity development, attachment experience, and adaptation to life in an American family. Retirement is typically an all or nothing proposition. The thinking goes that such an approach might enable older workers to adjust better to retirement and permit employees to make gradual changes instead of coping with the abrupt departure of a well integrated employee. The morals that can be learned from Cain an Abel are still relevant today, but in another format, such as in the poster for the 2016 film Swiss Army Man. The Swiss Army Man poster and the myth of Cain and Abel have overlapping themes, such as death and isolation. God favored Abel s sacrifice of milk and meat over Cain s offering of fruits. This angered Cain, and presumably out of jealously, he murdered his brother, Abel. Just as Cain was the first physical birth in the bible, Abel is the first recorded death (and murder) of the bible. God questions Cain on the death of Abel, and Cain lies and tells God that he did not murder his brother. Although is has been interrupted in multiple ways, it is ultimately believed that Cain s jealously of God favoring his brother s sacrifice in relation to his own is what lead to his rage and commitment of murder. A main moral in the myth of the story of Cain and Abel is that jealously can lead to sin. Cain s jealously of Abel is what causes him to lash out, and later lie to God about his actions to cover up his original sins. Despite a vast number of the laws passed within Nazi Germany and then Nazi occupied Europe being applicable to the Jewry of Germany, and Europe it is clear that it was not exclusively for the Jews and the effect of this was not worse for one or another. However, this essay endeavours to discuss the main characteristics of the Nazi policies on the Jewish population and it is easy to see that the main characteristic was exclusion aided by terror, which only appeared to brew with the well established feelings of anti Semitism and become increasingly more extreme. However it is important to acknowledge the debate around the subject, as suggested by Wildt it is important to not willingly accept and adopt the school of thought as a clear cut unfolding of Nazi policy, where he suggests that anti Semitism has been a part of Germanic life for centuries and not a product of the regime. Before going into the characteristics of the policies of the Nazi party it is important to understand about the origins of the party itself and therefore the origins of the party s anti Semitic nature.
