Impacts of Tourism Development
Sustainable tourism is an industry that attempts to make a low impact on the environment and local
culture while helping to generate income, employment, and the conservation of local ecosystems. It
is responsible tourism that is both ecologically and culturally sensitive. Meaning, sustainable
tourism activities have minimal impact on the environment and culture of the host community. It
aims to meet the needs of the present tourists and host communities whilst protecting and enhancing
needs in the future. According to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP),
sustainability principles refer to the environmental, economic, and socio cultural aspects of tourism
development, and a suitable balance must be established between these... Show more content on

There are also a number of downsides to the area because of economic impacts that the travel
and tourism industry bring that mostly affects the locals of the area. First is the increase in
living costs. As more and more tourists come to the area, tourism related facilities increase the
prices of their goods knowing that most tourists can afford their prices. A good example of this
negative impact is taxi drivers charging tourists more than the usual. Second is leakage.
Leakage is defined as the amount of money for supplies and services paid for outside an area or
in simple terms, money that does not benefit the economy of the area. The economic benefits of
the area can be lost if the goods and services are imported rather than for the local goods and
services to be used. Leakage can be avoided by sourcing local materials, using local products,
allowing local people to sell in resorts and hotels and employing more local people. Third impact
is the decline of traditional employment. As the tourism industry grows there is a bigger demand
for people to be employed in it. More and more people are attracted to this industry for it provides a
more attractive option rather than the harder, lower paid traditional jobs. This then results to the
traditional industries suffering for the younger generation no longer want to learn the skills of the
old jobs like weaving and thatchery resulting that

The Nursing Career
Nurses entering this specialty must highlight not only their clinical skills, but also their critical
thinking, advocacy and analytical abilities. Communities are dynamic, and nurses must adapt to
and be able to provide patients with whatever care is needed. (Meadows, 2009). The PHN uses
clinical knowledge along with an ecological viewpoint. A public healthnurse can practice in clinics,
healthdepartments, faith based organizations, mobile vans, homes, correctional facilities,
occupations, community centers and hospitals. There is no setting that a public health nurse cannot
practice to deliver a community focused intervention.
Delivering a successful intervention can be challenging but with learning competencies and skills,
the PHN can achieve results. At all times the focus must be on the health needs of an entire
population including imbalances and the unique needs of sub populations. A PHN must be
analytical by defining a problem and use data to determine an effective solution. A PHN must be
able to communicate effectively, and understand how the media delivers information.
Of great importance is the role of cultural competency in public health nursing. Cultural competency
is the ability to effectively consider the worldviews, healthcare practices and preferences of people
from diverse, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. The PHN must put an
emphasis on prevention and focuses attention to multiple determinates of health. The skill of

Examples Of Companionship In Frankenstein
Companionship vs. Loneliness: Characters tend to want companionship but are driven to
loneliness. What are examples of this? What makes them solitary? Is it something in their
personality or actions? Does anyone find true companionship? After reading Frankenstein, I
chose to write about companionship vs. loneliness. One example of companionship is Victor and
his family. According to the text, Much as they were attached to each other, they seemed to draw
inexhaustible stores of affection from a very mine of love to bestow them upon me. My mother s
tender caresses, and my father s smile of benevolent pleasure while regarding me, are my first
recollections (Chapter 1). While it is true that Victor was an only child for several years, he was

Black And White By Lila Quintero Weaver
We are all born equal is a concept that was not widely known in Souther America during the
1960s. Some accepted the multitude of races while many did not. In Darkroom: a Memoir in
Black White by Lila Quintero Weaver she depicts from the eyes of an outsider of what truly
happened during this trying time between races. Weaver and her family had no idea of the
history that was about to be made when they arrived back in the United States. While in
Argentina her family was seen as different they were not treated as poorly as the blacks in
America. Throughout the novel Weaver chooses to use black and white images to depict how
she saw the world in the time during the Civil Rights movement for many reasons but some that
stand out was the lack of perspective, the choice of racism based on skin color, and because of
what she grew up loving, her fathers pictures. By the time Weaver and her family had arrived
slavery was a thing of the past but the ideas of the social standards of blacks had still not left the
minds of white southern Americans. Children are not born racist and never will be the,
selfishness of the parents and their beliefs is what causes the outrageous comments and actions to
continue between generations. Blacks being forced to sit in the back at movies (Weaver 72),
Blacks refusing to join in on White s affairs even when asked (Weaver 74 75), not being allowed
to dine together (Weaver 106), and vulgar language that should never be repeated are just a few

Summary Of Hugo Chavez s The Bolivarian Republic Of Venezuela
Hugo Chavez called his government The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. After me! That is
hilarious, because I utterly disagree with his beliefs, his government, and what he is trying to do.
I was the liberator of South America, I wanted social justice, I wanted everyone, every class, to be
equal and have equal opportunities. Chavez shares none of these ideals. He attempts to help the
poor, but in reality he hurts them.
For example, Chavez imposed price controls on basic necessities, to help the lower class afford
food, but this action had an adverse effect. Because manufacturers couldn t make a profit, they
stopped selling their goods, and food shortages became rampant! In short, even though Chavez tries
to help the lower class, he ends up hurting them, against my beliefs, because I believe in helping the
entire population.
As these food shortages go on, one of the saddest ramifications of it is malnutrition in children.
Children are starving to death as their parents look on, because they cannot afford food. And what
is the government doing? Nothing! President NicolГЎs Maduro has acknowledged that people are
hungry in Venezuela, but he has refused to accept international aid (Kohut Herrera). That is not
just. A leader should do what is right for his people, not what is good for his ego! Maduro s
country is starving, and he can t fix it, yet he refuses help because he blames other countries for his
problems.
I think Maduro is a horrible leader, just because he is not

Essay on The Heart of Tragedy Based on Oedipus Rex
During the Ancient Greek period, Aristotle, a great philosopher, wrote a book called the Poetics
to describe what makes a great tragic play. Using the Oedipus Rex by Sophocles as the basis for
his book, Aristotle goes into great detail about plot, character, and much more, breaking up the
components of a tragedy. Since Oedipus Rex had a huge part in the creation of Aristotle s book, it
fulfills many of the Greek philosopher s requirements for a tragic play.
According to Aristotle, plot is one of the most important components of a tragedy. It must have a
clear beginning, middle, and a cascade of events leading to the ending. The incentive moment in
Oedipus Rex is when Creon comes back from visiting the oracle at Delphi with news on how to ...

At the end of the novel he is left a blind man with only his daughter.
Spectacle is the act of avoiding violence and having ferocious events take place offstage to stop
the evocation of the emotions pity and fear. These feelings are evoked in Oedipus Rex because if
bad things happened to a good man, then they can happen to anyone. However, pity and fear are
kept at bay when the messenger relays Jocasta s suicide and Oedipus s act of self harm because
they didn t witness the events that took place offstage.
Dues ex Machina is the idea that an unexpected power, such as the gods, will come and fix the
situation. Aristotle dismisses this idea, believing that it is better to have a realistic and practical
plot or else it will take away the story. Two good places to have divine intervention in Oedipus
Rex would have been either before Oedipus left his adoptive parents or before he had
unknowingly killed his father. A god or a higher being could have informed him of his origins and
the curse, and he could have prevented the murder of his father and marriage to his mother. Instead,
without the use of dues ex machina, Oedipus fulfilled the prophecy which resulted in his downfall.
Oedipus Rex by Sophocles embodies all of what Aristotle described to be a proper tragedy in his
book Poetics. The plot is a clear and concise beginning, middle, and end that starts with a cause that
results in many effects, one of which

Anti-Semitism and Lack of Concern Among Non-jews During...
Thesis Statement:
Antisemitism is to blame for the lack of concern among non Jews during the up rise of the
Holocaust.
It is hard to grasp the number of lives lost during the Holocaust. How someone could have so
much hatred towards one group of people. Or how so many people could set back and watch
something like this take place without protest. To begin to understand how a tragedy like the
Holocaust could have took place without intervention we need to understand antisemitism.
Merriam Webster OnLine defines antisemitism as quot;hostility toward or discrimination against
Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group quot;(Blah, Blah, Blah). Antisemitism is a little more ...

At the same time new forms of antisemitism emerged. There were leaders in Europe that wanted
to establish colonies in Africa and Asia. These leaders argued that whites were superior to other
races and therefore had to spread and take over the weaker and less civilized races. A lot of
writers applied this argument to Jews, mistakenly defining Jews as a race of people called Semites
who shared common blood and physical features. With this type of antisemitism Jews remained
Jews even if they did convert to Christianity.
Politicians even began using the idea of racial superiority in their campaigns to get votes. Such
politicians would blame Jews for bad economic times. One of the politicians was Karl Lueger
(1844 1910). He became Mayor of Vienna, Austria at the end of the century through the use of
antisemitism. Lueger was viewed as a hero to a young man named Adolf Hitler, who was born in
Austria in 1889. Hitler s ideas, including his views of Jews, were shaped during the years he lived
in Vienna, where he studied Lueger s tactics and the antisemitic newspapers and pamphlets that
became readily available during Lueger s long rule. 3
In 1932, Hitler s National Socialist (Nazi) Party, made up 37% of the legislative assembly
representing Germany. This was a huge jump from only 3% in 1929. At 37%, the Nazi party was
the biggest party in the legislative assembly. On January 30,

Methylcyclohexane Synthesis Essay
Discussion: While hydrogen is not normally observed as a functional group, however, one
exception involves free radical substitution through halogenation. This mechanism essentially
function by first initiation step in which the halogenated molecule splits into two halogenated
radicals which is followed by the formation of a hydrocarbon radical. The next step of the radical
mechanism, propagation, involves the hydrocarbon molecule reaction with a halogenated molecule,
thus producing a hydrocarbon halogen (R X) compound, and more halogenation molecule thus
allowing the reaction to continue on to completion. A control mechanism will allow for the
prediction of what product will be obtained from a radical reaction. If random chance of the halogen

This is once again due the reasoning stated earlier, as in terms of hydrogen reactivity: benzene
aromatic ~ aliphatic tertiary secondary primary. This is based on the reasoning in Hammond s
Postulates that the more stable radical will have a smaller rate determining step and the transition
state will resemble the products more so, thus indicating why it can be considered more stable.
The actual order observed was methylcyclohexane ethylbenzene toluene tert butylbenzene ~
cyclohexane. This was not the predicted order as methylcyclohexane should have reacted third
fastest instead of reacting first as observed, however, excluding the error of methylcyclohexane
the rest of the prediction seem to line up with the observed results. Since methylcyclohexane was
the only contributor to the misalignment with the predicted and observed indicates that some sort
of error occurred in the process of carrying out the reaction. The source of error is most likely due
to the possibility that methylcyclohexane had the bromine added to it a few seconds prior to being
set down and timed for a reaction. The reasoning behind this is because methylcyclohexane should
react fast, however, should still be slower than ethylbenzne and toluene. Another source of error
that was likely a major contributor was the amount of each compound present in the test tube. If
too much of the arene was added to the test tube a the reaction time will likely be noticeably
slower as there will b more product to brominate. Therefore, it is possible that the
methylcyclohexane test tube (#13) had too little of methylcyclohexane in it. The toluene reaction
time at 15 seconds also indicates that this test tube possibly had too much toluene placed in it, thus
leading to a slower observed reaction time. Therefore, it is unlikely that the initial prediction was
wrong due to the reactivity of the

A Summary Of Livy The Early History Of Ancient Rome s Rape...
It would be easy to assume that thousands of years later, the rape culture evident in ancient Rome
would have evolved, changed significantly, or quite simply been eradicated, but in this world, there
still exists many similarities between ancient Rome s rape culture and modern rape culture. In Livy
The Early History of Rome, we read the founding myths which shaped Rome. These stories
include the tale of Romulus and Remus, but I will be talking about their mother, Rhea Silvia who
was made into a Vestal Virgin, raped, and imprisoned, and how her story relates to the modern
world. Although rape is not as pivotal in modern countries narratives as it was in Rome s history,
the culture and actions towards rape have remained the similar.

Therefore, it was an honor to become one, but was it? We don t have accounts from Vestal
Virgins and more important from Rhea Silvia which could tell us about their joy or despair.
Rhea Silvia was forced into becoming a Vestal Virgin by her uncle, Amulius who wanted to
ensure his seat of power. Though he claimed it was to do her honor, her becoming a Vestal
Virgin made it unlikely for her to have children who could later take Amulius s power (Livy 34).
Rhea was forced into a life where she would have to value her virginity above everything
including her life. Though there are not as many official positions for virgins anymore, the
modern world sees a lot of girls forced to hold their virginity in high regard similar to Rhea. The
threat of someone taking your virginity is felt strongly among women in many countries today
where it could be the difference between life or death. Countries such as South Africa, Turkey,
India, Indonesia, Somalia, and many more practice virginity testing. Females grow up in a culture

Gentrification In The Bay Area
Gentrification is an existential threat in the Bay Area due to urban renewal, spatial capital, and
inequity. This threat can best be described as the process of residential or commercial use of an
urban area shifting towards higher economic classes (Center, 199). The process of gentrification
has caused many native residents to be displaced from their homes, as well as being forced to
move further out of the area or become homeless. Neighborhoods that were once oasis for the
working class are shifting and becoming too expensive for the people who live there. Food and job
insecurity are two forms of inequity that contribute to gentrification practices. These three factors
are key in the gentrification that is threatening Bay Area residents.... Show more content on

Food insecurity can be tied to historical trends of inequity throughout the country, especially in the
Bay Area. Accessibility should not distract from the resident s ability to pay for food, which is the
problem due to overinflation of prices at certain stores (Short, 356). In order to combat this issue,
activists formed farmers markets, but the organizers received backlash from corporate food
processing companies (Drew, 322). This backlash from companies tie into the many impacts high
rise development has on the city, including job displacement, and housing availability (Hartman,
14). The appeal of the labor market in the Bay Area has caused displacement in prominent
communities all over, especially in Oakland and San Francisco (Pratt, 33). One way the labor
market does this is by outsourcing high tech jobs overseas to cut costs and make a profit. labor
arbitrage, a term which means searching for the same skills at a different price. (Ong, 160). The
Bay Area labor market facilitates inequity and displacement for middle and lower class residents,
which feeds food insecurity in

Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray as British Gothic Literature There is something at
work in my soul, which I do not understand. This quote from Mary Shelley s classic gothic novel
Frankenstein is very representative of the functional importance of gothic literature to humanity.
Gothic literature can be viewed as the dark side of the human soul, as good usually triumphs over
evil in storytelling; gothic literature is the release of all the darkness of the human experience
usually embodied in a character. When used to describe literature, the word gothic is defined as of
or relating to a style of fiction characterized by the use of desolate or remote settings and macabre,
mysterious, or violent incidents (Webster). In addition to these stylings, there are several elements
such as the supernatural, heroes, villains, and emotions that are very common of the gothic genre
(Marinaro). Frankenstein is often viewed as the archetype of gothic literature, for the novel is
certainly the most well known and studied literary work of the gothic genre, and also possibly
because of its usage of classic gothic themes. Oscar Wilde s The Picture of Dorian Gray, however
described as gothic literature, departs from many of the listed classic themes. The following will
examine the origins of the gothic novel, it s characteristics, and how the British novels Frankenstein
and The Picture of Dorian Gray exemplify, by usage

The Necklace Character Analysis
What would you do if you were in Loisel s shoes the night of the ball? Loisel in The Necklace
has three distinct traits; greed, selfishness, and insecurity. Loisel, is an interesting character with
many traits. The first trait that stands out was greediness in Loisel. She is married to a rich man
that works in the Department of Education. One night after work the husband came home with
an invitation to a ball. Despite his pride when he came with the invitation, she opened it and
threw the invitation on the table with annoyance, saying What do you want me to do with that?
She was aggravated with the fact she can t go because she did not have anything to wear and
didn t want to look poor in front of all the rich women. After discussing the invitation, she asked
her husband What do you want me to put on my back to go there? He says But the dress in
which you go to the theater. That looks very well to me. He stops resisting when she began
crying about not having anything to wear. As she cries, he asks how much would this cost, a
proper dress, which would do on other occasions; something very simple? , consequently giving
in to her greediness to buy her a new dress. After providing her with a nice dress she became
even greedier, desiring a new necklace. Her husband replied, You will wear some natural flowers.

owners need attorneys also. The following are four important services that a business lawyer
provides a small business.
Patent protection

Santiago Dream On Meaning
Dream on by Aerosmith connects to Santiago and his recurring dream in the beginning of the
story starting on Page 6. Santiago deals with a recurring dream and he does not understand why
he is having it. This dream occurs every time Santiago sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out
of the ruins of a church. In this dream a child tells Santiago to go after a treasure located by the
Egyptian pyramids. Santiago is confused by the message of the dream and goes to a gypsy woman
to try and understand the dream. She says that he should go to Egyptin pursuit of the treasure. This
leads to Santiago meeting a magical man who turns out to be the King of Salem. He says that
going to Egypt is Santiago s personal legend and he should set off for his journey tomorrow. This
journey leads to Santiago arriving in Tangier and a robber taking all of the money Santiago
brought in his journey towards the Egyptian pyramids. This leaves Santiago by himself as he
now has to find a way to push through adversity and get to his destination. Dream on is about
following your dreams and aspirations in life by following your journey. Dream until your
dreams come true is a line highlighted in the song that captures the purpose of following your
dreams. It is about your want to be someone and to accomplish what you are supposed to in life.
Santiago s purpose is to follow his personal legend by following the good omens throughout the
story and find his way to the Egyptian Pyramids. Santiago has to

The Effects of Subsidizing R D Projects
The effect of startup businesses on economic wealth is a hot topic nowadays. Not everyone agrees
with the current policies concerning entrepreneurship and its effect on innovation, job creation and
economic growth. Shane is one of those people who clearly disagrees with current incentives given
by the government(Shane, 2009). According to him, policy makers should no longer motivate
typical start ups by providing incentives to start a business like loans, subsidies and tax benefits.
This namely attracts marginal entrepreneurs that have a relatively high chance of failure. Instead,
policy makers should focus on the extraordinary entrepreneurs and help them by subsidizing R D
projects at small companies. According to Shane, those funds are much more likely to contribute to
economic growth and to create jobs. In this paper, I want to address this topic and investigate
whether this really is the case. The research question that will be answered is:
Is it possible for governments to pick winners to supply with R D subsidies and is this good policy?
First of all, I will investigate whether it is possible to categorize entrepreneurs into winners and
losers and subsequently I will analyze whether R D funds really contribute to economic growth and
create jobs. Furthermore, I will comment on fairness problems and unfair competition that could
arise when providing funds to elected firms only. Shane s suggestion to improve current policies is
to reallocate resources and

The Importance Of Expensing R D Expenditure
Some accounting committees and countries prefer expensing the R D expenditure to
capitalization, they concern about the conservatism rule, future economic benefit uncertainty and
avoiding profit manipulated of R D expenditure. However, expensing R D expenditure also
cannot perfectly deal with these problems as they expected. As the rapidly development of
technology, especially in high tech industry, intangible asset take up large number of the overall
assets, whether the firm is successful or not largely relay on these intangible assets, therefore,
simple expensing all R D expenditure is apparently inaccurate. One of the most important factors
of expensing R D expenditure is the uncertainty of R D. The Australian accounting profession s
SAC 4 (1992) refers assets as future economic benefits, which controlled by the entity as result of
past transactions or other past events. And the asset should be recorded in the statement of
financial position when the expenditure of the asset can be measured reliably and the future
economic benefit generates from the asset is highly likely backflow to the company. However, it
is impossible of a company to accurately measure how possibility of a firm can have future
economic benefit generated by the asset. Moreover, the loose concept of control of an asset that is
the capacity of the entity to benefit from the asset in the pursuit of the entity s objectives and to
deny or regulate the access of others to that benefit. (Walker and

Finding the right location is top priority for this project. The garage must not be far away from
either the shopping complex or the casinos. If it is the project may fail because it does not alleviate
the inconvenience of walking for the shoppers. The projected length of time for this project is 12
18 months. This takes the weather into account and gives ample time for any unforeseen problems
with suppliers, contractors, the city, and any permit problems.
Budget
The national average of a five level parking garage is approximately 145,000 square feet (Reed
Construction Data, 2012). The project will require the hiring of an architect and a contractor.
The architect duties will include creating a schematic design and draft floor plans, finalize
drawings, obtain necessary permits and serve as the development manager of the project. The
contractor will provide the services and materials need for the job and is responsible in hiring
subcontractors. The national average for the cost per square foot to build a five level parking
garage is between $50 and $70 (FixR, 2011). On average masons and excavators charge $70 per
hour, electricians charge $65 to $85 per hour and plumbers charge somewhere between $45 and
$65 per hour, so this project will take into consideration all of the hourly rates for all specialties
(FixR, 2011). Taking from the national average costs this project will cost $65 a square foot

Criminal Behavior And Its Effects On Genetics
Criminal Behavior as seen in Genetics Criminal behavior is something that sociologists commonly
study. There are many theories about criminal behavior and deviance that have been made. One
that stands out is the theory that criminal behavior, or deviance, being closely related to genetics.
This theory refers to cases in which different genetic groups phenotypically respond differently to
the same array of environments. Basically, it states that through family a person can become or
think like a criminal. The thought that genetics can cause a human to become deviant seems a bit
far fetched. Humans have a mind of their own and can make their own decisions, what is in their

They would not be considered at fault because it is in their genetic makeup that they are aggressive
and want to hurt others. The MAOA gene is a metabolic enzyme, which means that it stops the
work of the neurotransmitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, causing problems within
the enzyme that are associated with aggression (Wolfson, par 10). These problems within the
enzyme were made apparent through maltreatment of children. The primary maltreatment that
Caspi and Moffitt studied was when a child was a victim of physical and sexual abuse (Tabery 2).
What was found in their study was people with low MAOA activity drastically increase the risk of
having an antisocial personality disorder, while people with high MAOA only gradually develop
the risk (Tabury 3). Having an antisocial personality disorder be in your genetic makeup would not
make the person having it at fault. If it was in ones genetic makeup, then it would not be
possible to actually convict someone in court and they would have to be considered not
medically sane. The MAOA gene is found in everybody s X chromosome, so while women have
two copies of the X chromosome, men only have one so it s more common that men will have
more problems with MAOA gene (Wolfson, par. 10). However, even though everyone has this
gene, it does not cause a problem for most people. Through the Caspi Moffitt study it was shown
that the MAOA gene, while being there does not actually affect the brain

The Impact Of Ancient Greek Theater And Tragedy
Michimasa Kamata

The Impact of Ancient Greek Theater and Tragedy Ancient Greek culture has influenced our
modern culture in many ways from philosophy to medicine to government. We still use many of
their concepts, technology, and even alphabet system. Without ancient Greece, our modern world
would not have advanced as far. A significant contribution of the ancient Greek culture to the world
today is the Greek theater, more specifically the structure of tragedy. Some contributions are the
structure of tragedy in modern literature, rise of opera, and the creation of the theater. Greek drama
originally started out as a ritual to honor the god of wine, Dionysus, by the cult of Dionysus. In
the ritual, drunk men dressed up in goat skin would sing and have dialogue in chorus to
welcome the leader, the person acting as Dionysus (Sayre 151). In these revel filled festivals,
men dressed as satyrs, companions of Dionysus who are half man and half goat, while the
women dressed up as maenads, the immortal followers of Dionysus. As the participants become
drunk and filled with ecstasy, they transform into a different identity from before. Later on this
behavior became the satyr play, a form of Greek drama. Tragedy is said to be originated from the
Dionysian rites, where the name comes from tragoidos, which means the goat song from the satyrs
companions of Dionysus who are half man and half goat. This could be in reference to the fact that
Dionysus was also the

Essay about Issues In Psychological Profiling
Issues In Psychological Profiling
Historically, crime and criminals have always caught the attention of law abiding citizens.
Whenever there is mention of serial killers or unsolved murders or abductions, psychological
profiling, floats to the top of the list of concerns (Egger, 1999). Psychological profiling is an
attempt to provide investigators with more information about an offender who has not yet been
identified (Egger, 1999). Its purpose is to develop a behavioral composite that combines both
sociological and psychological assessment of the would be offender. The type of person who could

By the mid 1950s, a psychiatrist named Dr. James Brussel, with no prior links to law enforcement,
was asked by the New York City PoliceDepartment to profile the Mad Bomber of New York
(Padbury, n.d.). After studying crime scene evidence and the bomber s mail to the press,
Brussel was able to develop a profile that described the bomber in detail. He claimed that
offender would be heavy set, middle aged, and foreign born. That he was Roman Catholic, single
and lived with a sibling. He added that when found, the offender would most likely be wearing a

Software Development Life Cycle Model
SDLC Models The quality of a software highly depend on the process that is followed in the
organization for the projects. There are a large number of projects failed in the software
nowadays due to lack of a SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) model or selecting a poor
SDLC model for their projects. By selecting right software process model a better and high
quality product can be found within budget and time (Neha Satinder Pal, 2011). SDLC models
are tools that allow the development team to correctly follow the SDLC Steps to create software

a complete set of steps that a team of information systems professionals, including database
designers and programmers, follow in an organization to specify, develop, maintain, and replace
information systems. Textbooks and organizations use many variations on the life cycle and
may identify anywhere from 3 to 20 different phases. (P.65) There are different models defined
for the systems development in today s world. Some of them have seven steps involved in it and
others have 4. The traditional SDLC models have 4 phases involved. However, later few of the
phases have been further split and made 7 phase models. 7 Step SDLC model The 7 step SDLC

White Privilege Unpacking The Invisible Knapsack Analysis
This week s readings focused on a topics associated with the white population of America. Some of
these topics included the privileges white individuals are often unknowingly accustomed to
(McIntosh,1) as well as the lack of responsibility and motivation many whites feel when it comes to
eliminating racism. This is a social problem because it constructs biases that often times negatively
affect the interactions between whites and individuals of color. This potentially leads to many
issues including racism, hate crimes, and the unequal treatment races.
In Peggy McIntosh s article, White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack, McIntosh
embarked to uncover the countless advantages whites tend to have over those of color. By doing so,
she validated her credibility to the reader by listing her findings along with research and evidence to
supplement her claim. After reflecting on the privileges she found, McIntosh stated, ...whiteness
protected me from many kinds of hostility, distress, and violence, which I was being subtly trained
to visit in turn upon people of color (McIntosh, 3). This makes it obvious to the reader that
McIntosh s findings are unjust and should be changed. Unfortunately, most white individuals are
currently doing nothing to modify these unfair privileges. McIntosh concludes the article by posing

St. Therese Of Lisieux s Saturday Evening Mass
On September the 10th, I visited St. Therese of Lisieux s Saturday evening mass. Before
attending this mass, this summer I had the opportunity to attend a Catholic Mass during a trip
California. Because of this previous experience and the reading detailing the meaning behind
each part of Mass, I was able to more clearly understand the workings of the service. Additionally,
with regards to the Erickson essay, I learned how to differentiate between Catholic mass and
Zwinglian view of the Lord s supper. When attending Mass at St Therese, I witnessed hundreds
of years of tradition transpire via the saintly icons, the reading of the Old and New Testament text,
the papal prayer, and beautifully somber hymns for glorification of Christ. Immediately, I was
impressed by the congregation s knowledge of the routine structure of the service. Before sitting,
congregation members kneeled and made the sign of the cross on one s self. Furthermore, I was
surprised that the church goers knew the songs by heart without referring to hymnal or having a

drummers had done a lot of solos on record, but that doesn t mean some of the best solos didn t
come out in this decade. I put together a list that features 15 well known drum solos from the 1980 s.
The List: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Velcro Fly by ZZ Top from the Afterburner album released in 1987. From ZZ Top s electronic
period, probably the most complicated thing drummer Frank Beard did during this period. It s a
pattern that he repeats throughout the song, making the song most known, not for it s guitar but for
the drums, a rarity from a band with Billy Gibbons on guitar.
14. In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins from the Face Value album which was released in 1981. You
hear very little drums in this song, until the solo part, which after the solo the drums are very
pronounced.
13. Freedom by Alice Cooper from the Raise Your Fist and Yell album which was released in 1987.
For Alice Cooper, this is one of his heaviest albums, this song kicks off the album by showing it s
going to be heavier than anything he s ever done by doing some double bass drum work.
12. Radar Love by White Lion from the Big Game album which came out in 1989. This song was
a cover of the Golden Earring song. This solo features a trade off between just the drummer, and
the whole band playing along, and then he starts playing a little shuffle type, utilizing his ride

Sandwich Generation Research Paper
The Sandwich Generation Feeling the Squeeze
Multigenerational caregiving is on the rise. As life expectancies continue to go up and couples
choose to have children later in life and often support them after the age of 18. Many baby
boomer(s) are now balancing dual caregiving responsibilities and have been labeled the sandwich
generation. How does the sandwich generation balance caregiving responsibilities for two
completely opposite age groups? The sandwich generation is a generation of families on the rise
that are required to confront the varied burdens of raising children and caring for elderly parents,
often having to face the damaging effects to their lives including stress, anxiety, financial problems,
time lost from work, loss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maintaining control of their debt now becomes of the utmost importance as they would need to
stay clear of as much new debt as possible. They may need to reassess their planned retirement date
and the amount of savings they were planning to amass for retirement. The sandwich generation
should remember that their children s financial needs should come first as the children have no
one else to depend on and no financial resources to pull from. But the sandwich generation should
also remember not to sacrifice their retirement savings in lieu of their children s college education
fund. This way at least the sandwich generation will not have to ask their children to help pay their
bills when they retire, repeating the cycle. This does then put them in the situation where the child
may need to move back home after college. Student loan payments can be significant and it would
be understandable that with the mounting bills, it would be difficult to live on their own. If an
adult child has to live at home, they should be made to contribute both monetarily and with
physical work (yard work, cleaning, or

Essay on The Poetry of Robert Hayden
Although the majority of Robert Hayden s writings address racial themes and depicts events in
African American history, he also wrote short poems that capture his own personal experiences.
Hayden has an enormous amount of great poems and short stories, but as I read through many
of them, I was touched by two specific poems that I felt I could personally relate to. I chose these
poems because I am able to put myself into the story line and understand what the writer is
talking about. I believe that a good writer is able to reach any reader regardless of race, gender, or
age. Hayden possessed an incredible skill with his language and the structures of his poems that
could almost pull the reader right out of their chair and place them in the... Show more content on

The first thing I had learned about Hayden s style before I began reading his actual poems was
that he frequently used first person point of view. Many critics mimic the same thoughts when
they discuss how a large majority of his poems were based on his personal experience. He uses
his recollection of himself in relation to something else: other characters, different experiences,
and even through works of art. He tends to reflect back on numerous times of his childhood. They
are clearly personal and some almost seem biographical as he remembers his past and his family as
he grew older. These writing are not usually happy for him or easy to put on paper for everyone to
see. They seem to bring up pain, guilt, sorrow and a sense of suffering. His writings reflect what he
feels on the inside: lost identity, loneliness, and his longing need for attention.
In Those Winter Sundays Hayden tells a story about a son looking back at his father during his
childhood. The poem describes a father that through words doesn t necessarily show love or
affection towards his family. It captures the need of love from a distant father to his child. Through
reading this poem, it is discovered that the love the son was looking for was always present it was
just communicated more through the fathers efforts and less through the type of tenderness that is
expected from a child. He explains in small details his fathers suffering. The man

Explain The Concept Of Sunk Cost Effect And Give A...
1.Please EXPLAIN the concept of sunk cost effect and give a personal example from your
experiences.
The sunk cost effect is when you feel like you have to get your money s worth no matter the
circumstance or negative outcomes is. The decision is based on future costs and benefits alone. It
is an investment that has already been made and cannot be recovered. Therefore, it is the hard
money we made and paid for to risk the chances of enjoying it or not.
I paid $350 to go on a family reunion in Norfolk, Virginia. When we got on the bus early that
morning, and fell all sleep quickly as we began to ride. Our first stop at the convenient store turned
into a disaster. We found out that the AC on the bus was not working, and was forced to stay...

A great example would be books. We read website and blog s and they advertise book s stating
that it gives detail s about how to make fast money and even retire in your 30 s. Therefore,
convincing us to buy the books just to purchase them and tells us thing s we already know. When we
go to the book store we notice a new book saying 100 ways to make a fortune within a month.
Since we already paid for the other book, we are easily convinced that may this could be the right
book that actually gives us real ways to become rich. So then we buy it and still feel like the
information is not enough. We go back to the bookstore and look again. Since we already lost a lot
of money in the other book s we are hoping that eventually we will find that right book with
authentic information to finally know how to make a fortune.
3.Watch a news entertainment show on cable or via the internet for 30 minutes. Pay attention to the
guest experts that appear. Classify/identify one of the guests as either a fox or a hedgehog, giving
details from their interview that support your classification.
There was a short clip of Trump supporter Vicki Sciolaro and CNN news anchor Brooke Baldwin
speaking about Trump s locker room talk. In the interview, news anchor Baldwin asked Sciolaro
about how she felt about what Trump said in the video. Sciolaro felt as if it was offensive, but
irrelevant since it

  • 2. Impacts of Tourism Development Sustainable tourism is an industry that attempts to make a low impact on the environment and local culture while helping to generate income, employment, and the conservation of local ecosystems. It is responsible tourism that is both ecologically and culturally sensitive. Meaning, sustainable tourism activities have minimal impact on the environment and culture of the host community. It aims to meet the needs of the present tourists and host communities whilst protecting and enhancing needs in the future. According to the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), sustainability principles refer to the environmental, economic, and socio cultural aspects of tourism development, and a suitable balance must be established between these... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are also a number of downsides to the area because of economic impacts that the travel and tourism industry bring that mostly affects the locals of the area. First is the increase in living costs. As more and more tourists come to the area, tourism related facilities increase the prices of their goods knowing that most tourists can afford their prices. A good example of this negative impact is taxi drivers charging tourists more than the usual. Second is leakage. Leakage is defined as the amount of money for supplies and services paid for outside an area or in simple terms, money that does not benefit the economy of the area. The economic benefits of the area can be lost if the goods and services are imported rather than for the local goods and services to be used. Leakage can be avoided by sourcing local materials, using local products, allowing local people to sell in resorts and hotels and employing more local people. Third impact is the decline of traditional employment. As the tourism industry grows there is a bigger demand for people to be employed in it. More and more people are attracted to this industry for it provides a more attractive option rather than the harder, lower paid traditional jobs. This then results to the traditional industries suffering for the younger generation no longer want to learn the skills of the old jobs like weaving and thatchery resulting that ... Communities are dynamic, and nurses must adapt to and be able to provide patients with whatever care is needed. (Meadows, 2009). The PHN uses clinical knowledge along with an ecological viewpoint. A public healthnurse can practice in clinics, healthdepartments, faith based organizations, mobile vans, homes, correctional facilities, occupations, community centers and hospitals. There is no setting that a public health nurse cannot practice to deliver a community focused intervention. Delivering a successful intervention can be challenging but with learning competencies and skills, the PHN can achieve results. At all times the focus must be on the health needs of an entire population including imbalances and the unique needs of sub populations. A PHN must be analytical by defining a problem and use data to determine an effective solution. A PHN must be able to communicate effectively, and understand how the media delivers information. Of great importance is the role of cultural competency in public health nursing. Cultural competency is the ability to effectively consider the worldviews, healthcare practices and preferences of people from diverse, racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. The PHN must put an emphasis on prevention and focuses attention to multiple determinates of health. The skill of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Is it something in their personality or actions? Does anyone find true companionship? After reading Frankenstein, I chose to write about companionship vs. loneliness. One example of companionship is Victor and his family. According to the text, Much as they were attached to each other, they seemed to draw inexhaustible stores of affection from a very mine of love to bestow them upon me. My mother s tender caresses, and my father s smile of benevolent pleasure while regarding me, are my first recollections (Chapter 1). • 6. Black And White By Lila Quintero Weaver We are all born equal is a concept that was not widely known in Souther America during the 1960s. Some accepted the multitude of races while many did not. In Darkroom: a Memoir in Black White by Lila Quintero Weaver she depicts from the eyes of an outsider of what truly happened during this trying time between races. Weaver and her family had no idea of the history that was about to be made when they arrived back in the United States. While in Argentina her family was seen as different they were not treated as poorly as the blacks in America. Throughout the novel Weaver chooses to use black and white images to depict how she saw the world in the time during the Civil Rights movement for many reasons but some that stand out was the lack of perspective, the choice of racism based on skin color, and because of what she grew up loving, her fathers pictures. By the time Weaver and her family had arrived slavery was a thing of the past but the ideas of the social standards of blacks had still not left the minds of white southern Americans. Children are not born racist and never will be the, selfishness of the parents and their beliefs is what causes the outrageous comments and actions to continue between generations. Blacks being forced to sit in the back at movies (Weaver 72), Blacks refusing to join in on White s affairs even when asked (Weaver 74 75), not being allowed to dine together (Weaver 106), and vulgar language that should never be repeated are just a few ... • 7. Summary Of Hugo Chavez s The Bolivarian Republic Of Venezuela Hugo Chavez called his government The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. After me! That is hilarious, because I utterly disagree with his beliefs, his government, and what he is trying to do. I was the liberator of South America, I wanted social justice, I wanted everyone, every class, to be equal and have equal opportunities. Chavez shares none of these ideals. He attempts to help the poor, but in reality he hurts them. For example, Chavez imposed price controls on basic necessities, to help the lower class afford food, but this action had an adverse effect. Because manufacturers couldn t make a profit, they stopped selling their goods, and food shortages became rampant! In short, even though Chavez tries to help the lower class, he ends up hurting them, against my beliefs, because I believe in helping the entire population. As these food shortages go on, one of the saddest ramifications of it is malnutrition in children. Children are starving to death as their parents look on, because they cannot afford food. And what is the government doing? Nothing! President NicolГЎs Maduro has acknowledged that people are hungry in Venezuela, but he has refused to accept international aid (Kohut Herrera). That is not just. A leader should do what is right for his people, not what is good for his ego! Maduro s country is starving, and he can t fix it, yet he refuses help because he blames other countries for his problems. I think Maduro is a horrible leader, just because he is not ... • 9. Essay on The Heart of Tragedy Based on Oedipus Rex During the Ancient Greek period, Aristotle, a great philosopher, wrote a book called the Poetics to describe what makes a great tragic play. Using the Oedipus Rex by Sophocles as the basis for his book, Aristotle goes into great detail about plot, character, and much more, breaking up the components of a tragedy. Since Oedipus Rex had a huge part in the creation of Aristotle s book, it fulfills many of the Greek philosopher s requirements for a tragic play. According to Aristotle, plot is one of the most important components of a tragedy. It must have a clear beginning, middle, and a cascade of events leading to the ending. The incentive moment in Oedipus Rex is when Creon comes back from visiting the oracle at Delphi with news on how to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of the novel he is left a blind man with only his daughter. Spectacle is the act of avoiding violence and having ferocious events take place offstage to stop the evocation of the emotions pity and fear. These feelings are evoked in Oedipus Rex because if bad things happened to a good man, then they can happen to anyone. However, pity and fear are kept at bay when the messenger relays Jocasta s suicide and Oedipus s act of self harm because they didn t witness the events that took place offstage. Dues ex Machina is the idea that an unexpected power, such as the gods, will come and fix the situation. Aristotle dismisses this idea, believing that it is better to have a realistic and practical plot or else it will take away the story. Two good places to have divine intervention in Oedipus Rex would have been either before Oedipus left his adoptive parents or before he had unknowingly killed his father. A god or a higher being could have informed him of his origins and the curse, and he could have prevented the murder of his father and marriage to his mother. Instead, without the use of dues ex machina, Oedipus fulfilled the prophecy which resulted in his downfall. Oedipus Rex by Sophocles embodies all of what Aristotle described to be a proper tragedy in his book Poetics. The plot is a clear and concise beginning, middle, and end that starts with a cause that results in many effects, one of which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is hard to grasp the number of lives lost during the Holocaust. How someone could have so much hatred towards one group of people. Or how so many people could set back and watch something like this take place without protest. To begin to understand how a tragedy like the Holocaust could have took place without intervention we need to understand antisemitism. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the same time new forms of antisemitism emerged. There were leaders in Europe that wanted to establish colonies in Africa and Asia. These leaders argued that whites were superior to other races and therefore had to spread and take over the weaker and less civilized races. A lot of writers applied this argument to Jews, mistakenly defining Jews as a race of people called Semites who shared common blood and physical features. With this type of antisemitism Jews remained Jews even if they did convert to Christianity. Politicians even began using the idea of racial superiority in their campaigns to get votes. Such politicians would blame Jews for bad economic times. One of the politicians was Karl Lueger (1844 1910). He became Mayor of Vienna, Austria at the end of the century through the use of antisemitism. Lueger was viewed as a hero to a young man named Adolf Hitler, who was born in Austria in 1889. Hitler s ideas, including his views of Jews, were shaped during the years he lived in Vienna, where he studied Lueger s tactics and the antisemitic newspapers and pamphlets that became readily available during Lueger s long rule. 3 In 1932, Hitler s National Socialist (Nazi) Party, made up 37% of the legislative assembly representing Germany. • 13. Methylcyclohexane Synthesis Essay Discussion: While hydrogen is not normally observed as a functional group, however, one exception involves free radical substitution through halogenation. This mechanism essentially function by first initiation step in which the halogenated molecule splits into two halogenated radicals which is followed by the formation of a hydrocarbon radical. The next step of the radical mechanism, propagation, involves the hydrocarbon molecule reaction with a halogenated molecule, thus producing a hydrocarbon halogen (R X) compound, and more halogenation molecule thus allowing the reaction to continue on to completion. A control mechanism will allow for the prediction of what product will be obtained from a radical reaction. If random chance of the halogen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is once again due the reasoning stated earlier, as in terms of hydrogen reactivity: benzene aromatic ~ aliphatic tertiary secondary primary. This is based on the reasoning in Hammond s Postulates that the more stable radical will have a smaller rate determining step and the transition state will resemble the products more so, thus indicating why it can be considered more stable. The actual order observed was methylcyclohexane ethylbenzene toluene tert butylbenzene ~ cyclohexane. This was not the predicted order as methylcyclohexane should have reacted third fastest instead of reacting first as observed, however, excluding the error of methylcyclohexane the rest of the prediction seem to line up with the observed results. Since methylcyclohexane was the only contributor to the misalignment with the predicted and observed indicates that some sort of error occurred in the process of carrying out the reaction. The source of error is most likely due to the possibility that methylcyclohexane had the bromine added to it a few seconds prior to being set down and timed for a reaction. The reasoning behind this is because methylcyclohexane should react fast, however, should still be slower than ethylbenzne and toluene. Another source of error that was likely a major contributor was the amount of each compound present in the test tube. If too much of the arene was added to the test tube a the reaction time will likely be noticeably slower as there will b more product to brominate. Therefore, it is possible that the methylcyclohexane test tube (#13) had too little of methylcyclohexane in it. The toluene reaction time at 15 seconds also indicates that this test tube possibly had too much toluene placed in it, thus leading to a slower observed reaction time. Therefore, it is unlikely that the initial prediction was wrong due to the reactivity of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It would be easy to assume that thousands of years later, the rape culture evident in ancient Rome would have evolved, changed significantly, or quite simply been eradicated, but in this world, there still exists many similarities between ancient Rome s rape culture and modern rape culture. In Livy The Early History of Rome, we read the founding myths which shaped Rome. These stories include the tale of Romulus and Remus, but I will be talking about their mother, Rhea Silvia who was made into a Vestal Virgin, raped, and imprisoned, and how her story relates to the modern world. This threat can best be described as the process of residential or commercial use of an urban area shifting towards higher economic classes (Center, 199). The process of gentrification has caused many native residents to be displaced from their homes, as well as being forced to move further out of the area or become homeless. Neighborhoods that were once oasis for the working class are shifting and becoming too expensive for the people who live there. In order to combat this issue, activists formed farmers markets, but the organizers received backlash from corporate food processing companies (Drew, 322). Eric Haney Mr. Kearney English 4 AP 27 May 2015 Frankenstein and The Picture of Dorian Gray as British Gothic Literature There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand. This quote from Mary Shelley s classic gothic novel Frankenstein is very representative of the functional importance of gothic literature to humanity. Gothic literature can be viewed as the dark side of the human soul, as good usually triumphs over evil in storytelling; gothic literature is the release of all the darkness of the human experience usually embodied in a character. When used to describe literature, the word gothic is defined as of or relating to a style of fiction characterized by the use of desolate or remote settings and macabre, mysterious, or violent incidents (Webster). In addition to these stylings, there are several elements such as the supernatural, heroes, villains, and emotions that are very common of the gothic genre (Marinaro). Frankenstein is often viewed as the archetype of gothic literature, for the novel is certainly the most well known and studied literary work of the gothic genre, and also possibly because of its usage of classic gothic themes. • 26. The Effects of Subsidizing R D Projects The effect of startup businesses on economic wealth is a hot topic nowadays. Not everyone agrees with the current policies concerning entrepreneurship and its effect on innovation, job creation and economic growth. Shane is one of those people who clearly disagrees with current incentives given by the government(Shane, 2009). According to him, policy makers should no longer motivate typical start ups by providing incentives to start a business like loans, subsidies and tax benefits. This namely attracts marginal entrepreneurs that have a relatively high chance of failure. Instead, policy makers should focus on the extraordinary entrepreneurs and help them by subsidizing R D projects at small companies. According to Shane, those funds are much more likely to contribute to economic growth and to create jobs. In this paper, I want to address this topic and investigate whether this really is the case. The research question that will be answered is: Is it possible for governments to pick winners to supply with R D subsidies and is this good policy? First of all, I will investigate whether it is possible to categorize entrepreneurs into winners and losers and subsequently I will analyze whether R D funds really contribute to economic growth and create jobs. Furthermore, I will comment on fairness problems and unfair competition that could arise when providing funds to elected firms only. The Importance Of Expensing R D Expenditure Some accounting committees and countries prefer expensing the R D expenditure to capitalization, they concern about the conservatism rule, future economic benefit uncertainty and avoiding profit manipulated of R D expenditure. However, expensing R D expenditure also cannot perfectly deal with these problems as they expected. As the rapidly development of technology, especially in high tech industry, intangible asset take up large number of the overall assets, whether the firm is successful or not largely relay on these intangible assets, therefore, simple expensing all R D expenditure is apparently inaccurate. One of the most important factors of expensing R D expenditure is the uncertainty of R D. The Australian accounting profession s SAC 4 (1992) refers assets as future economic benefits, which controlled by the entity as result of past transactions or other past events. And the asset should be recorded in the statement of financial position when the expenditure of the asset can be measured reliably and the future economic benefit generates from the asset is highly likely backflow to the company. However, it is impossible of a company to accurately measure how possibility of a firm can have future economic benefit generated by the asset. This theory refers to cases in which different genetic groups phenotypically respond differently to the same array of environments. Basically, it states that through family a person can become or think like a criminal. The thought that genetics can cause a human to become deviant seems a bit far fetched. The MAOA gene is a metabolic enzyme, which means that it stops the work of the neurotransmitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, causing problems within the enzyme that are associated with aggression (Wolfson, par 10). These problems within the enzyme were made apparent through maltreatment of children. The primary maltreatment that Caspi and Moffitt studied was when a child was a victim of physical and sexual abuse (Tabery 2). What was found in their study was people with low MAOA activity drastically increase the risk of having an antisocial personality disorder, while people with high MAOA only gradually develop the risk (Tabury 3). Having an antisocial personality disorder be in your genetic makeup would not make the person having it at fault. If it was in ones genetic makeup, then it would not be possible to actually convict someone in court and they would have to be considered not medically sane. The Impact Of Ancient Greek Theater And Tragedy Michimasa Kamata HUM 101 007 3/17/16 The Impact of Ancient Greek Theater and Tragedy Ancient Greek culture has influenced our modern culture in many ways from philosophy to medicine to government. We still use many of their concepts, technology, and even alphabet system. Without ancient Greece, our modern world would not have advanced as far. A significant contribution of the ancient Greek culture to the world today is the Greek theater, more specifically the structure of tragedy. Some contributions are the structure of tragedy in modern literature, rise of opera, and the creation of the theater. Greek drama originally started out as a ritual to honor the god of wine, Dionysus, by the cult of Dionysus. In the ritual, drunk men dressed up in goat skin would sing and have dialogue in chorus to welcome the leader, the person acting as Dionysus (Sayre 151). In these revel filled festivals, men dressed as satyrs, companions of Dionysus who are half man and half goat, while the women dressed up as maenads, the immortal followers of Dionysus. As the participants become drunk and filled with ecstasy, they transform into a different identity from before. Later on this behavior became the satyr play, a form of Greek drama. Some of these topics included the privileges white individuals are often unknowingly accustomed to (McIntosh,1) as well as the lack of responsibility and motivation many whites feel when it comes to eliminating racism. This is a social problem because it constructs biases that often times negatively affect the interactions between whites and individuals of color. This potentially leads to many issues including racism, hate crimes, and the unequal treatment races. In Peggy McIntosh s article, White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack, McIntosh embarked to uncover the countless advantages whites tend to have over those of color. Many baby boomer(s) are now balancing dual caregiving responsibilities and have been labeled the sandwich generation. How does the sandwich generation balance caregiving responsibilities for two completely opposite age groups? • 45. Essay on The Poetry of Robert Hayden Although the majority of Robert Hayden s writings address racial themes and depicts events in African American history, he also wrote short poems that capture his own personal experiences. Hayden has an enormous amount of great poems and short stories, but as I read through many of them, I was touched by two specific poems that I felt I could personally relate to. I chose these poems because I am able to put myself into the story line and understand what the writer is talking about. They are clearly personal and some almost seem biographical as he remembers his past and his family as he grew older. His writings reflect what he feels on the inside: lost identity, loneliness, and his longing need for attention. In Those Winter Sundays Hayden tells a story about a son looking back at his father during his childhood. The poem describes a father that through words doesn t necessarily show love or affection towards his family. It captures the need of love from a distant father to his child. Through reading this poem, it is discovered that the love the son was looking for was always present it was just communicated more through the fathers efforts and less through the type of tenderness that is expected from a child. He explains in small details his fathers suffering. The man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
