The Top Five Coffee Shops Essay
Any Top List is always subjective, in my opinion. There will probably be people in my town of
Johnson City, Tennessee, who will disagree with the top 3 coffee shops that I have chosen.
However, I think that these three independent coffee shops, which are all quite different, are
exceptionally good. Beasley s Southern Bistro Beasley s Southern Bistro, located at 2203
McKinley Road in Johnson City (locals will remember the building as the old Klopman Mills),
moved from its location on South Roan Street. It also changed its style a bit. The old Beasley s
was known for its home cooking, which it still offers; however, they have also expanded the
menu and added some unique sandwiches (including a lobster sub) and, of course, various types
of coffees. My husband and I were frequent visitors to the Beasley s on South Roan and have
followed them to their new place. I loved their regular coffeeat the old location. I adore their vanilla
cappuccino at the new location. There is nothing better than Eggs Benedict for breakfast and a
large cup of cappuccino. You can order other flavors and lattes, as well. In addition, when you
first walk into the old Klopman Mills, you will notice that it is being turned into a large building
full of dozens of spaces for offices or small retail establishments. Also, in the large entryway,
Beasley s has set up comfy couches and chairs in front of a large stone fireplace where you can
enjoy your coffee if you choose to skip the wonderful

Difference Between Christianity And Ancient Egyptian Religion
There are many arguments of how Christianity is an evolve religion from ancient Egypt religion.
Especially with the talk between Horus and Jesus, and isis and mary. Christianity both have many
similarities also they have a lot of differences. They both have a god but for ancient Egypt its gods,
they both have a god that has a son, both Christianityand ancient Egyptreligionhas practices like any
other religion.
Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion have supreme being that they look up too, for
Christianity being God and ancient religion has many gods and the main ones that are known are
Osiris, Horus, and Iris. In both religions Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion they both have
gods battling some type of evil., while god will be battling the devil and Ra would be fighting
chaos to keep balance in the world and not let evil consume the earth. Like the sun god Ra for

In ancient Egyptian religion they have over two thousand gods, and in Christianity, there is one
god. Another difference between Christianity gods and African religion gods is that Christians god
has one purpose while in ancient Egyptian each god has its own purpose and its own story like the
Egyptian god Thoth the god of knowledge.
Even though mary is not a god she was a virgin who gave birth to Jesus the son of god, while the
same thing happened to Horus and his mother Isis. In both Christianity and ancient Egyptian
religion, both sons of gods died and were resurrected. Jesus resurrecting for the Christians and
hours resurrecting ancient Egyptian religion. The name king of kings is mainly established to
Jesus but Osiris shares the same name king of kings also the of the lord of lords. Like Jesus being

Mexican-American War Dbq
Was the United States Justified in Going to War With Mexico?
They have taken the land away from the people of the United States, oh wait that s not right. Of
course people know about the Mexican American War, but people haven t heard both sides of the
story. This conflict happened in the 1840 s starting with Americans migrating to the west. Mexico
shouldn t have allowed us to move into their territory because the people of the United Sates stole
land that belonged to Mexico. When the two countries started to argue over the land, it would
eventually lead to war. The United States was not vindicated in going to war with Mexico because,
it was Mexico s land, slavery, and border disputes.
The land didn t even belong to the United States. This is supported by documents C and D. Mexico
allowed the people of the United States to expand to the west into what is now the southwest part of
the United States. The United States had no right to annex Texas. The annexation of Texas into the
United States would be considered a declaration of war (C). American settlers in California
believed the land was theirs because Mexico had no control of it. The United States took the land
away from Mexico by moving into their territory and calling it their own. ... Show more content on

This claim can be supported by document D. Slavery has been in America for as long as the
country has been around. When Mexico allowed Americans to move into Texas, people brought
slaves across the border of Texas. Slaveholders crossed the Sabine river with their slaves, in
defiance of the Mexican ordinance of freedom (D). Mexico had already abolished slavery, so
Americans were breaking the law by bringing slaves into Mexican

Impact Of The Progressive Movement
At the turn of the twentieth century many things needed a change in order for a better society. The
Progress Movement was an extension of reformers ideas and programs of the late nineteenth
century. The Progressive Movement was a period of social activism and political reform in the
United States that flourished from the 1890s to the 1920s. The European immigrants were one of
the many to have an impact of the Progressive Movement. High minded European messengers of
the social gospel promoted a brand of progressivism based on Christian teachings. A social gospel
was the reform movement led by Protestant ministers who used religious doctrine to demand better
housing and living conditions for the urban poor. Social gospel was very popular at the turn of the
twentieth century; it closely linked to the settlement house movement, which brought middle class,
Anglo American service volunteers into contact with immigrants and working people. Meanwhile,

This resulted in the popular vote election; this allowed the voice of the voters to be heard. The
public now felt like they were finally being heard again, the public could choose who was voted in
to office, who would not be in office, and what laws would be made official. The political reformers
believed that woman s vote would elevate the political tone, and the foes of the saloon felt that they
could count on the support of enfranchised females. But it would take until the very end of the
Progressive Movement, 1920, when women actually get the right to vote. The Progressive
Movement had extended on ideas and programs of reformers in the late nineteenth century. When

Corporate Responsibility And Corporate Social...
Stevan Jakovljevic Professor Laud MGT 3550 Values, Ethics and Sustainability 10/18/16
Chapter 3: Define corporate responsibility (CSR). Describe the benefits. Why do some
executives support CSR while others find it troublesome and argue against it? Corporate social
responsibility is what a company uses to self regulate itself and refers to business practices
involving initiatives that benefit society. A business s CSR can encompass a wide variety of
tactics, from giving away a portion of a company s proceeds to charity and implementing greener
business operations. Companies use implement Corporate Social responsibilities for various
reasons and this can be argued. Large corporations have a more reasons for CSR to protect their
image Corporate social benefits also have many different benefits for the company. One of the
primary reasons companies use CSR is to preserve the environment. Many large corporations
have had bad track records in the past when it comes to pollution and a business no matter how
large has a large carbon footprint. Even if the smallest amount of effort is used in order to reduce
the amount of damage they do to the environment is good and that s why we see CSR being
implemented. For a long stretch of time companies in the United States of America have been
destroying the earth slowly by cutting down forests, polluting water ways and disposing of garbage
in large amounts in the ocean. Now that these companies have been under attack by the people and

Returning to School Essay
Wanting to return to school has been a dream for a long time. I am starting out a little late, at 45
years old, but I have finally found my passion, working in education. Since the age of thirteen, I
have been working multiple jobs day and night, only to still be below the poverty line; stuck in
survival mode for so long now that I need to have a permanent positive change that will help me
accomplish more than I ever have. The reason for me going back to school is to get certified so I
may become a teacher. Our low income was the culprit on pushing me to get started. I have been
struggling for so long that now it is time for me to make a real difference in my life and those
around me, hopefully resulting in an increase in my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While doing everything, I have been the only income, and support for my family, working three
jobs, and volunteering for the PHS Band Boosters. Stress is high at home, and I just do not feel
welcome. Our power was turned off, the phone and internet have already been disconnected, the
house is a mess, the cars are breaking down, and we have no clothes, or shoes that are decent,
and no money to buy any. I cannot afford to have the trash hauled off, so we live with piles of
garbage outside and inside. I am two months behind on the rent, and we live out of the local food
banks for our food. I m so embarrassed of how we live that I won t let anyone come over to visit.
I hear the kids and my husband saying that they blame me for how we live. It s my fault that I
am not home to keep things clean, or help with their homework, or that I am not bringing in
enough money to pay the bills. I have to fight each day just to prove myself, to those closest to
me. At this time the best that I can do, is to talk with one of the counselors at school, to see if
they may be able to help us out as a family. Working with so many different types of people
throughout the years, has taught me that there is a way if it is important enough to you. Giving up
is not an option In order for this to work a serious change at home will need to take place, getting
everyone back on track, and setting their priorities straight. I will need

My First Pair Of Black Patent Leather Buckle Shoes Essay
My first pair of black patent leather buckle shoes were so shiny. I was wearing cotton socks with
lace trim that day. It was my first day of school; kindergarten. We were all sitting on the floor
listening to Miss Bronk read us the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Her voice was
fading off in the distance as I played with the buckles on my brand new shiny shoes. I nearly
jumped out of my skin when Miss Bronk harshly spoke my name. Take your shoes off and bring
them to me. She said. I just hung my head in shame. I was so embarrassed to be called out in
class like that. I peeked at her though the tears in my eyes; Miss Bronk got up out of her chair
and towered above me. Give me the shoes! she said. Unbuckling my shoes, I slipped them off
my feet and handed them to her. I spent the rest of that day in school without my shoes. I never
saw my pretty shoes again. After school that day I was standing out on the school portico
waiting for the bus to come pick us up to take us home. I stood in line in my white cotton socks
with lace tops. The kids made fun of me because I didn t have shoes. I didn t have nice clothes
either, like the other kids did; mine were bought off the chubby girl rack at Sears and Roebuck. I
didn t have one friend. Somehow I continued to go to kindergarten for the rest of the school term.
Miss Bronk never mentioned my shoes when we had our party on the last day of school. We had
cupcakes and milk that day. It was fun, but I didn t know anyone.

The Causes And Impacts Of Transnational Corporations
Transnational Corporations (TNCs), also known as Multinational corporations (MNCs), are
businesses that have subsidiaries in at least one other state other than their home state (Jackson,
2013) Due to their reach they have a fairly significant role on global politics. They control the
mass of the economy and GDP of many states, place pressure on policy makers through their
decisions and influence the decisions of citizens through media. They, however, would not be able
to function without the rules and economic control states have to create a market place and media
channels. This limits their power to an extent but they still retain a position of power within the
global political scene.
TNCs have had a massive growth post World War II with America dominating the international
market well into the 1960 s until Europe and Japan began to compete against them. In the modern
global market changes in political regimes and ideologies have allowed for a diverse market with
Eastern Europe and many other Asian countries finding their way in. China has made itself a super
power in international trade, manufacturing and export due to the cheap costs. Many Transnational
corporations have more worth than some states with Wal Mart being worth more than Israel, Poland
and many others. There is an estimated sixty one thousand TNCs that make up two thirds of the
global trade with a third coming from inter firm transactions (Raghavan, 1996). The states
themselves take advantage of the reach

Fortnite is a multiplayer survival game. There are two different game modes in fortnite; battle
royale and save the world. Fortnite s battle royale mode is a 100 player game. You can either
play solo, duos, or squads. Solo is typically the most hard to win in due to the fact that you re on
your own with no teammates to help you out. The point of the game is to be the last man standing.

The map has 19 different location to land at. Once you decide where you want to land, you jump
off the battle bus and skydive to your location. Once you get at a certain height, you will either
use a glider or an umbrella to safely land to the ground. The most popular place to go is Tilted
Towers. Tilted Towers is where about 30% of the 100 people go. Many people have said that
Tilted Towers should be removed from the game because of the ridiculous amount of people go
there. On the other side, a lot of people love going there because it is full of action. As you play
the game you will find what is called loot . This is all the things that you can pick up and keep in
your inventory. This includes guns, ammo, explosives, and meds. The different meds in the game
are bandages, medkits, shield potions, and chug jugs. When the game first starts, you are given
100% health and no shield. Finding shield potions and drinking them will make it harder for
enemies to eliminate you. You could think of shield as armour on a knight. If knights had no
protective gear, they would be easier to fight. You will continually lose shield as you are in fights.
Once your shield goes away, you

The Risk Factors of Osteoarthritis Essay
OA has a complex pathology, with numerous environmental and genetic risk factors. Generally,
OA is thought to be caused by a complex interaction between environmental and genetic factors
(Valdes et al., 2009). A variety of epidemiological studies have demonstrated that genetic
susceptibility is a key regulator of OA aetiology (Peach et al., 2005). Genetic variations may
influence several OA risk factors, including obesity, skeletal shape, bone mass and synovitis
(Valdes et al., 2011a). Furthermore, it has been shown that generalized OA phenotype, sensitivity
to pain and disease progression may be also determined by genetic susceptibility (Valdes et al.,
2010a; van Meurs et al., 2009; Kerkhof et al., 2010).
In the 1940s familial clustering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
OA is generally recognized as a complex multi factor disease that has mostly small and modest
effect susceptibility loci (Reynard et al., 2012). Over the past decade efforts have been focused on
the search for loci that predispose to OA. The following approaches most often have been attempts
to provide insight into the complexity of OA genetics: genetic linkage studies (LA), genome wide
association studies (GWAS) and candidate gene studies.
LA exploits the fact that genes have a tendency to be inherited together because they are located
close to each other. After identification of a linkage, all genes in the linked region need to be
identified and in this manner candidate genes of interest for a disease can be established. LA has
been successful in localizing chromosomal regions containing highly penetrant genetic variants.
However, in a common disease, such as OA, the success of LA is very limited for a number of
reasons, including the low power of identification of genes with modest effects and the large impact
of environmental influences (Risch et al., 1996).
After the completion of the Human Genome Sequencing project, which provided the opportunity to
systematically search across the genome and to test large numbers of common genetic variants for
association with disease, GWAS have been successfully applied to the study of many complex
diseases. GWAS make it possible to examine the associations of thousands of

A Muscle Relaxant
Introduction: A muscle relaxant is a pharmacologic aid use to alleviate tense muscles. It can be
obtained as an over the counter drug or medication that requires a doctor s prescription. I will be
presenting the value of muscle relaxant to overstimulated muscles with a neurologic involvement
such as spasticity, and how it can help mitigate and revive the person ability to recapitulate his
capability to perform his/her activities of daily living. Spasticity is described as an abnormal muscle
tone that is velocity dependent, and it is usually correlated with an upper motor neuron lesion with
an association of hyperactive deep tendon reflexes (Nair Marsden, 2014, p. 1). There are numerous
neurologic diseases that exhibit... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An interesting study of Orsnes, Sorensen, Larsen, Ravnborg, (2000, p. 247) stated that baclofen

demonstrated a minimal change is a vertical unsteadiness. The researchers have attributed this
change to the influence of baclofen on the knee extensors and ankle dorsiflexion at the final part
of swing phase. Since this study has a small sample size, and patients did not receive the maximum
dose to achieve a good result, further study in a larger group sample with different variations of

The mining industry in developing nations often lacks the enforcement of ethical principles, laws
and regulations. I therefore believe developing nations are better off without large mining
companies operating within them. Mining majors can use force to get there way and this often
includes political involvement and corruption. Mining companies often overlook the artisanal
miners, that use the mine as their lone source of income, and move them out from the mines. The
impact on locals is not usually not taken into account when a new mine is set up. Mining
companies often disregard the citizenship, fairness and dignity principles of the Global Business

As corruption is seen as a cheaper alternative to fixing the problem. I believe that developing
nations are better off without mining majors in operation within them because of the possibility
for government corruption. Developing nations are better off without mining majors because
the country is seen as a target for large revenue gains, the Global Business Standards Codex and
fair treatment of local people can often be disregarded at the expense of profits. Artisanal miners
live in or around mines and generally do all of their work by hand, including the extraction of
ore, to make a living. As these people live on the mine, if a company wants to buy the mine then
they have to move the whole town elsewhere. In accordance with the fairness principle, which has
always been involved with ethical thought (Paine et al. 2005), the mining company should provide
housing for the artisanal miners. However, by doing this, the company is taking the miners away
from their source of money and livelihood, which creates an imbalance. An example of this is the
Canadian mining company in Essakane, Burkina Faso (Siegel 2013). As global mining companies
seek new avenues of revenue they are increasingly turning to the developing world. In developing
countries mining is used by locals as a source of income when farms fail, which is becoming
increasingly common with global warming. The increasing number of artisanal miners causes

A Schizophrenic Mind By John Nash
A Schizophrenic Mind
Cody B. Helms
Fort Mill High School
A Schizophrenic Mind
In the movie, A Beautiful Mind, the main character John Nash, a genius mathematician, struggles
with the constant pressure he puts upon himself in regards to creating an original idea. This intense
stress and anxiety eventually develops into paranoid schizophrenia. Throughout the movie Nash
and his wife, Alicia, have to try and cope with his constant delusions. This movie, by going through
the life of John Nash, depicts his struggle with schizophrenia, the different treatments he has to
endeavor, and his development as a person which can be seen through Gardner s Theory of Multiple
Intelligences.
Once John arrives at Princeton he is still on the search for his original idea. The constant stress
that he brings upon himself in order to try and achieve his goal is starting to have negative
effects on him. This can be seen during the scene in which he meets his roommate Charles, who
is a lackadaisical character who doesn t have the same drive and passion as John does in regards
to achieving greatness. There is also another very important thing about Charles; he is not actually
real. Another scene that is relevant to this topic is the one where John Nash was in the courtyard
at Princeton arguing in front of everyone with Parcher in regards to his work for the government.
However, just like Charles, Parcher is not real and neither is Nash s job for the government, rather it

How Did George Jefferson Influence Pop Culture
George Jefferson is a late 90 s television icon, brought to life by Sherman Hemsley. A husband,
father, and entrepreneur; managing to be both the antagonist and protagonist of every show he
has made an appearance in. He made his stride in television and America by introducing a new
portrayal of the black man and the black family, in ways that did not require them to lose their
black identity. Jefferson s importance goes beyond the existence of his fictional depiction. He
played a role in branding a social mark on the real world and in Hollywood. In this paper, I will

He first made his appearance on the nine season long American sitcom, All in the Family, where
him and his family lived as neighbors and frenemies to the Bunker family. Jefferson s appearance
on this popular show boosted so highly that his brother, who filled George s position in the
Bunkers life, became somewhat of a nuisance to the audience once he returned. Jefferson s

when he stepped onto the screen and captured the hearts and ratings of many across the country.
This lead to his spin off show, The Jeffersons, centered around George Jefferson, his wife,

Hyperbole Ideas Of Love In Sonnet 130 By William Shakespeare
Writers in the sixteenth century had grandiose ideas about love. The renaissance is a period when
love poems were common. Many of those poems came in the form of sonnets describing the
author s love interest. These sonnets include flowery language comparing women to objects such
as the sun, moon, and stars. William Shakespeare has also used this type of poem to describe
women. He has also employed the typical poetic devices in many of his sonnets. However, in Sonnet
130, Shakespeare uses simile, hyperbole, and allegory to parody the conventional sonnets of his
time. First, Shakespeare employs simile to describe his speaker s loveinterest. A simile is a figure
of speech comparing two unlike things to make the description seem more vivid. Shakespeare uses
simile to negate the likeness of the woman s beauty to inanimate objects. He states, in the very first
line, that her eyes are not like the sun, which is in direct opposition to other sonnets of that time.
Shakespeare implies that this woman is not an epitome of beauty and that more beautiful things
exist (Woolway). By reversing the language, he conveys that describing a woman as a beautiful
object seems almost ridiculous. He continues the negative comparison throughout the poem proving
he does not praise her for some exalted, unrealistic standard of beauty (Kramer). The speaker loves
his mistress for her imperfections which Shakespeare exaggerates to make a point. Shakespeare
uses hyperbole in his sonnet

The Respect of Soldier s Rank
In the U.S. Military services, rank determines who gets to tell whom what to do. The higher one s
rank the more authority (and responsibility) they have. U.S. Military personnel fall into one of three
categories: (1) enlisted members, (2) warrant officers, and (3) commissioned officers. Warrant
officers outrank all enlisted members, and commissioned officers outrank all warrant officers and
enlisted members.
Rank and pay grade are closely associated terms, but not quite the same. Pay grade is an
administrative classification, associated with a member s pay. Rank is a title and denotes the
member s level of authority and responsibility. An E 1 is the lowest enlisted pay grade. That

petty officers trace their insignia heritage to the British. Petty officers were assistants to the
officers aboard ship. The title wasn t a permanent rank and the men served at the captain s

1841, Navy petty officers received their first rank insignia an eagle perched on an anchor. Ratings
job skills were incorporated into the insignia in 1866. In 1885, the Navy designated three classes
of petty officers first, second and third. They added chevrons to designate the new ranks. The rank
of chief petty officer was established in 1894.During World War II, the Army adopted technician
grades. Technicians of a given grade earned the same pay and wore the same insignia as equivalent
noncommissioned officers except for a small T centered under the chevrons. Technicians, despite
the stripes, had no command authority over troops. This evolved into the specialist ranks, pay
grades E 4 to E 7.

George Orwell s 1984
George Orwell author of 1984 recently made it on Amazon s list of 100 books to read before you
die for his widely read novel with thought provoking subjects like: the dangers of totalitarianism,
physical control, psychological manipulation, manipulation of information and history, and
technology. Through the themes in 1984, George Orwell demonstrates that a dystopian society
created by totalitarian rule can infiltrate the minds of its citizens through various mediums. The
famous novel falls into the same dystopian genre as other great works such as Fahrenheit 451 by
Ray Bradbury, Brave New World by Aldus Huxley , and Orwell s very own allegorical Animal

The Party s true power is finally revealed in the Ministry of Love as O Brien questions Winston.
It shares a philosophy similar to The Antichrist, Nietzsche: What is good? Everything that
heightens the feeling of power in man, the will to power, power itself. What is bad? Everything
that is born of weakness. What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is
overcome. [The true human being should seek] not contentedness but more power; not peace but
war; not virtue but fitness....What is more harmful than any vice? Active pity for all the failures
and all the weak. (http://archive.org/) In the concluding chapters, Winston faces the leader of the
party O Brien who had been spying on him since the beginning of his rebellion. O Brien
embodies the ideas of power mentioned in Nietzsche s writing on behalf of the party. It was he
who had complete control and trapped Winston into joining the fake resisting party. Ultimately,
Winston was the only person who valued the truth in history and believed in the defeat of the
totalitarian government. Oceania is an example of a perfect dystopia. The Party managed to
completely break down any enemy of the state including Winston who symbolized the spirit of
man; it strove for complete control and at the end achieved happiness which is defined as the
feeling of growing power. Orwell s novel has played a significant role throughout history. At the

Argumentative Essay On Religion
Religion was discovered back in 2000 BC and is considered to be a trait common to cultures
worldwide to this day. Some use religion as a way to cope, to connect, but few could use
religion as a weapon against others. Since religion began, over 195,035,000 lives have been lost
in tragedies brought on in the name of faith. Regardless of the brutality religion has created, it has
also caused others to come together in order to speak out. As a result of religions regression in
society, humans are able to progress for the sake of defending human rights. Christianity is one of
the largest religions to stand with more than 2.22 billion followers. However, not all Christians
share the same stance on issues, whether it be political or moral. An example would be the
Westboro Baptist Church; a hate groupknown for its hostility towards those who do not meet up to
their standards, specifically members of the LGBT, Catholics, American soldiers, and Muslims. The
church originally received national attention in October, 1998, for picketing the funeral of a man
named Matthew Shepardwho was beaten and tortured for being gay. Romaine Patterson, a friend
of Shepard s, recalled that she couldn t take her eyes off of the neon signs that read, God Hates

Toni Morrison
The issue of abandonment and the will that it takes to survive the hardship of it is a reoccurring
theme in Toni Morrison s writing. Tar Baby, Sula and Paradise all deal with the issue of
abandonment and how it relates to the characters in her stories. Through her fiction, Toni Morrison

Unlike Howard University, where black culture was neglected or minimized, at Texas Southern

abandonment of her roots and her black culture. This idea of abandoning the black culture is the
main theme in her novel, Tar Baby.

On the other hand, to further comprehend the reasons behind the continuous usage of emojis, we

Human Rights And The International System
Understanding Human Rights in the International System Through a Liberal Perspective
Human rights as a topic of study may have a simple, incontestable sound to it, but this is far from
the case. Yes, most people will recognize that human beings deserve certain rights, but past that
point all opinions begin to split and scatter. As it stands, human rightsare an ever changing and
complex category of issues. In order to try and make sense of these complex topics, scholars
employ a range of theories. Theories act like a lens, helping to organize the analytical process and
point people in the appropriate direction. Without the foundation that theory lays out, the thought
process, as well as arguments, can quickly become a mess of smaller thoughts, often with
contradicting outcomes. In this paper, I will utilize Liberalism to try and understand the nature of
human rights as a political issue within the international system.
Human rights and the discussion thereof are complex and dynamic. Human history is filled with
the sluggish progression of human rights. The rapid process of ever increasing globalization has
helped to speed up the fight for human rights over the last century. However, many obstacles still
exist, the most notable being the debate over Universalism and Cultural Relativism. Put simply,
Universalism asserts that all rights should be universal (everyone deserves the same rights
regardless of sex, race, religion, geographic location, age, etc.). On the

ranking people shows how well she was recognized. Anguissola is another female who wanted to
be recognized in the Rococo era. She used her painting skills to demonstrate her social status
(Bailey 110). In Sofonisba Anguissola, a painting, she exhibited her aristocratic status through
her rich velvet gown and lace collar (Bailey 110). She used her skills in her art works to portray
her power. In the Eighteenth century France There were also women professional writers. Even
though professional women writers were vulnerable to bad publicity , writing gave women
power (Thomason 12). Most of these women were women who were restricted by the laws, and
had to participate in the restrictive marriage system (Thomason 1). Eliza Haywood was a

Candide By Voltaire And The Song `` Pursuit Of Happiness...
Throughout history people have been looking for something that made life special, spectacular, or
one of a kind. Today, this search is known to the world as the pursuit of happiness . The phrase use
was heightened during the enlightenment period and lingered for long after. This impact of its use
did not only impact the way life was looked at but also impacted the arts during that time and for
the future. Two pieces that show this evidence is the novel Candideby Voltaireand the song Pursuit
of Happiness by Kid Cudi. Both of these works, even though they were published more than two
centuries apart, carry the theme of the pursuit of happiness. These pieces are evidence of the
unchanging pursuit that mankind goes through.
The beginning of the pursuit is where both of the stories start off. Where the characters get a
taste of what they believe to be pure happiness . In Kid Cudi s song, the narrator finds what they
believe to be happiness in drugs and alcohol. Crush a bit, little bit, roll it up take a hit... I don t
care hand on the wheel, drivin drunk I m doin my thing. (AZ Lyrics) However, in Voltaire s
Candide, the character Cunegonde starts an infection of the search in the other character through
the observation of Pangloss, her teacher, giving her mother s chambermaid a lesson in natural
experimental philosophy (3 Voltaire) in the park. She was filled with the desire to be learned;

Case Analysis Of Ritter V. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends
Case Law Analysis Case Summary
In a perfect world, there would be no need for laws protecting people from employment
discrimination; however, in this often unjust world, discrimination continues. Hence, federal and
state protections exist for certain groups of people sharing common characteristics. Some of these
protected classes are race, religion or creed, gender, and disability (EEOC, 2015). In the legal case
of Ritter v. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends (ARFF), Ritter claimed she became the target of age
discrimination after the business was sold to two people under the age of thrty. The following is
an overview of the case that highlights how ignorance of or willful disregard of the rights of
others can be a costly mistake. While laws are unlikely to change the minds of those who seek to
discriminate, those breaking the law must be held accountable.
Case Summary
In the above referenced case, Ritter, the appellant, began her employment as the general manager
at the boarding kennel approximately one year prior to the sale of the business. In 2012, the
business changed ownership to Annie Haubenhofer and Mike McKinley. Upon taking ownership,
they required all current employees to reapply for their jobs. AARF rehired all of the existing
employees, including Ritter, subject to a 90 day probationary period. As general manager, Ritter
informed Haubenhofer that questions on the new application, such as age and year of high school

performing general maintenance and landscaping for Adelphia offices (Beebe Michel, 2002).
The company also paid $26 million for the 3,600 acres adjacent to the farm to preserve the view

they made a point to publicly state that the family would own the hockey team, not the

A Book That Is So New And Fresh On The Literary Scene
Reading a book that is so new and fresh on the literary scene that even the professor has yet to
finish reading it is something that I don t encounter very often on college courses that often
have a tendency to focus on books that are at least ten years old. In addition to this novel being
so new, it was also special in the fact that it took place in the area that we are studying it in. This
gives the class the opportunity to talk about the piece in the way that they can really relate to, and
this is only more true when the author of the book is able to come and speak with the class. So
with these things being taken into consideration, being able to read and analyze this book in this
class is definitely a notable opportunity. Reading this specific piece of creative nonfictionis a perfect
example of how much of a privilege getting a college education as a top tier university truly is. This
book is part of the longstanding American tradition of men to write about their experiences in
nature. It is important to note how important nature is in the scope of American literature. The
ability for a person the retreat into nature is what makes differentiated American life and the books
based on it from the European country that it gained independence from. This nature writingwas
revitalized by Transcendentalists such as Emerson and Thoreau who normalized the narrative of the
everyman being able to go into nature and learn about himself and the environment that he is a part
of.

Some Bullshit Happening Video Analysis
History under the influence It is argued that history can be very interesting in the normal state of
mind but being under the influence makes the topic much more intriguing. We are presented with
drunken history video capturing three distinct history incidents. The first video presents Claudette
Colvin and Rosa Parks, second is John Adamsvs. Thomas Jefferson , and final is Breaking News:
Some Bullshit Happening. Two of the videos are presented in a unique under the influence
presentation explaining historical events. Each video will be analyzed and broken down of how
each person used three categories of rhetoricwhich include a logical appeal defined as logos

The anchor of the show begins the broadcast in clarifying that it is not very interesting and only
a desperate attempt to fill twenty four hours of programing which clearly is a lack of ethos
driving the audience away. The first presented footage is a loose bear running around the
community and it being common but residents were shocked to see this fairly common thing
happening which does not make compete sense as if it was a common occurrence then the
residence would not be as shocked. One of the interviewed individuals is an old man who stated
I m an older man so you can trust what I say however, being older the information can be very
skeptical and uncredited. In addition, he comments that authorities in special uniform rushed to
the scene to stand around while our cameras filmed them and this is not very logical as we know
that authorities arrive to a scene to assist in emergencies and not to be recorded. Throughout the
entire broadcast his voice tone is very dull with little emotion and the words are very repetitive in
the use of bullshit . Austin, in Reading The World of Ideas That Matter explains the importance of
incorporating strict sense and a mode of persuasion (179) and this video lacks both qualities. There
is a lack of pathos and ethos which give no real reason, aside to get a laugh out, to continue

They should always rely on their research on the needs of their customers so that they can create
products that will satisfy their needs. Looking at the situation of the economy will also help them

means to substitute the products they have or they can focus on acquiring companies that can help
them improvise their product so that customers won t find other substitutes. They should makes

Implementation In order for these plans to be attained, IBM should always have an open mind on
the possibilities that new technologies will enter the market. In order for them to compete with
rival companies, they should continue acquiring companies that will broaden their product line

The Canadian Government And The Aboriginal People
In the 19th century, The Canadian government believed that it was their job to educate the
Aboriginal people in Canada. European settlers felt that the aboriginal people were savage,
ignorant, and like children needed guidance, and needed to be civilized . Ultimately, they
wanted to assimilate the Aboriginal people into Canadian and Christian ways of living life in
Canada. The Canadian government came up with a policy called aggressive assimilation to be
taught at industrial schools that would be run by the churches and government funded. They
chose children to go to these schools because they are easier to manipulate and mold than the
adults and felt that school was the best way to do so. With the hopes of the assimilated children
will teach their children their new way of life and that their traditions and culture will diminish or
be completely gone in a few generations. In the 1880 s, the government began to construct the
residential schools across Canada. Authorities often would take kids from their home, to isolate
them from their family and familiar communities. In 1920 is when the Indian Act came in effect
where every Aboriginal child was obligated to attend a residential school and it was illegal for
them to go to any other institution. Moving on to oppression which Aboriginal children faced
much of. Oppression is defined as the social act of placing severe restrictions on an individual,
group, or institution. The ultimate goal of oppression is to keep the people

Network Design Essay
3 General Ideas:
The three general ideas which are interesting to my preference would be,
Network Security
Network Architecture and
Artificial Intelligence
1. Network Security:
Keeping a network secured is always mandatory because information cannot be share by a person
who is unauthorized and network security is an advanced procedure where it will prevent possible
access or misuse of information on network or modify any data on the network without having an
access to it. There are several ways of network security by which a network can be secured.
The three sub areas which I have selected in Network Security are,
Data Loss Prevention: Any company which has a network and few work stations which work on
this network should make sure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, NAC (Network Access Control) is the process which will be giving limited access depending on
their designation.
2. Network Architecture:
This is one of the most important phase while creating a secured network. Network architecture
will discuss the design of network which has both software and hardware connectivity along with
process of transmission and communications in both wired or wireless networks. There are few
topologies (star, bus, loop or mesh) and types of networks (LAN, WAN or MAN) which are to be
considered and then need to work on the architecture accordingly.
The three sub areas which I have selected for Network Architecture are,
Planning of Network Design: A proper planning of a network design will always lead to better
results. Planning should be done in such a way that network should always run properly and
should be secured 24/7. Strong firewalls and updated components are to be picked for proper
planning of network. There should always be a space in network so that we can either expand or
add few more components to network which will make network even more big. Blueprints of
networks must be made prior to network design because they are the ones which will be helpful in
designing the actual network.
Data Transfers within the network: Making sure that data is

Essay On Fiver In Watership Down
Fiver, one of the main characters in the book Watership Down, evolves from a weak rabbit that
always chooses to rely on his special power, into a strong, brave rabbit, through experiencing all
the hardships he and the other rabbits have. His development in mentality and in the relationship
with others are things readers of this book will enjoy and should focus on. At the beginning of the
story, Fiver is described as a small, weak rabbitwith the power to foresee the future. There is a
quote in the book that explains him: He was small, with wide eyes and a way of raising and
turning his head which suggested not so much caution as a kind of ceaseless, nervous tension.
(page 4) We can see in this scene that Fiver is an immature character, both mentally and
physically. Also, when Fiver sees a notice board in Chapter one, he panics greatly, which shows
his lack of power to control his mentality and action. Moreover, in Chapter 17 when Cowslip and
Hazel s rabbits are having dinner together, he only believes his own premonition that the warren is
dangerous, and suddenly tries to run away. The fact that Fiver always withdraws into his shell is
shown from his behavior in these scenes. Furthermore, his physical immaturity is shown in Chapter
eight when he is too tired to swim across a river, while the others still have the... Show more content

Call Of Duty is a Parasite in the Gaming Industry
Call of Duty, also known as Cod has, as many know it as, has become one of todays most popular
video games. So popular, that Cod has raked in more money than the highest grossing movie in
America. However, despite it s popularity, Cod is killing the gaming industry. Many may be
puzzled why a game so popular could possibly be ruining the gaming industry, but it is. Cod is
affecting the gaming industry through it s popularity and influence. First however, One must
know the reasons for Call of Duties popularity and how it achieved it s fame. Call of Duty s

Eventually, this endeavour became successful, but they were still not top dog on the gaming
market because of Halo s established hierarchy. So here was a multi platform game rivaling an
exclusive Xbox title. However, at this time, Halo remained the King of the Hill. So, through
several adoptions taken from already present games, Infinity Ward (the developers of CoD)
finally felt a fit to their game, which was applied their installment Call of Duty: Modern Warfare .
This game received massive success on release, becoming the second best selling shooter on the
xbox 360, just under Halo 3. Reason for its success was due to it s multiplayer which consisted
largely of player rewards and in game unlocks to keep the player interested. Because of this
success and Activision s title a year contract, which involves two developers releasing a CoD
every year, CoD quickly became the most popular shooter on the market. So naturally, developers
would use some aspects from call of duty and include them in their very own game. Except,
instead of taking just a few features, developers found themselves painting over their entire
installments with call of duty elements. Almost every developer did this to CoD, creating carbon
copies of the already aggrandized game. CoD s multiplayer has been ripped on so much that most
of modern day shooters have no variety. Other developers see the success of CoD and integrate

Analysis Of Waffle House Operations Express
Technology is evolving more and more every day, making it nearly impossible to be employed
without at least some knowledge of technology such as cell phones, computers, and the internet. As
a result of the consistent increase in technology, human resource management (HRM) is evolving
into a technology based function in many organizations. Several HRM services have been made
available through the use of technology, changing the face of HR from a person to a portal. The
practice of human resource managementhas drastically changed as companies provide universal
access to HR services through technology and web based applications. The term E HR refers to
the use of web based technology for human resource service delivery (Johnson, 2011).... Show more

Waffle House s portal (Ops Express) serves as an intranet resource to all employees, in which the
page s functionality depends on the type of employee accessing it. HRMs can access the portal as
an HRMS, upper management can obtain resources and documents necessary for their jobs, and
unit managers can gain access to their payroll stubs and training.
Employee Productivity
Waffle House requires its unit managers to have cell phones in order to call in their sales
numbers to their district manager every day. The company also requires the managers to have
internet access so that they can access metrics reports as they are uploaded to the portal; this
allows managers to be aware of their performance by the day. Managers are also paid a monthly
bonus based off of their performance so they are able to access what bonuses they should be
expecting as well. The district, division, and area managers have access to these reports as well;
however they can also access performance management documents and disciplinary forms (Waffle
House Info Portal, 2010). Improvements to improve the employee productivity technology would
be to have all company metrics reports to show the employees production benchmarked against the
other unit managers across the company. This way the employees know the expectations and could
reach out to the top performing managers for tips and best practices. T

Pros And Cons Of Random Eugenics
There is clear evidence in the news everyday, our population is sinking in a pool of poor genetics
and the average intelligence level is sinking to new lows. Not only is there a lack of common
sense, but there is the inability for many American citizens to even learn basic responsibilities of
daily living. Shootings, mass destruction, sexual abuse, and the deterioration of society as a whole
is the current national status. There are no control mechanisms on the population. There are too
many people living and producing more of themselves in the United States. There are too many
individuals who cannot care for themselves financially, physically or emotionally, who then drain
away resources that could be put to better use. Selective reduction... Show more content on

Greek Women And Roman Women
Goddesses, Whores, Wives, and Slaves: Women in Classical Antiquity by Sarah B. Pomeroy
The title of this book, Goddesses, Whores, Wives, and Slaves is written in order of the ranking
of women. In classical antiquity, in some aspects, a whore had more freedom and rights than a
married upper class woman. This alone is evidence of the degree that women in classical
antiquity were oppressed. Classical Greek Athenian women and Roman women had similarities in
their life styles and expectations to become wives and mothers, but Roman women developed
minor freedoms throughout the duration of the empire that Greek Athenian women did not
possess. The only known exception to this are the women of Sparta, who had a unique level of
freedom in the Greek world. Roman and Greek women were both under the protection of men,
with their primary life goal being motherhood. (62, line 15. Find Roman citation here!) Greek
women s marriageability was dependent on their dowry, and a woman was obliged to marry the
men selected by her guardian. (64,line 4) However, in Roman society the women had more say in
whom they married. If the woman deemed the potential husband to be morally unfit, she could deny
the marriage. After their father and potential guardians passed away, a Roman women could even
select her own husband. (157,line 26). Throughout the duration of marriage, Athenian women were
expected to stay within the home, taking care of the children and spinning her wheel. This
seclusion was

Should the Internet Replace the Book As the Chief Tool of...
At present, the Internet and other technology are well developed and keep improving. People use
those new tools to do everything, and try hard to make human life easier and more perfect. From
business to finances; industry to entertainment; services to education, the use of the Internet has
increased and become more mainstream. Some people believe that the Internet and other electronic
technology can replace all kind of jobs that humans do, including teaching students with screens and
keyboards instead of books. They emphasize that the Internet can help people interact to each other
beyond the barrier of distance, so books are somehow not necessary in humanlives. However, in my
opinion, this idea cannot be more ridiculous. Books are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. . . all it needs is light, a human eye, and a human mind (2008, В¶ 2). On the other hand,
generally speaking, the publishing process for the book is more stringent and credible than
online resources. As people realize the fact that the Internet is so open and free that everyone
can write anything on the web, a great amount of misleading information have been circulated
for perusal around the network. It is a great challenge to distinguish which of them is true or
credible; however, information from books is basically, generally believable. One of the reasons
for this is that people can easily find out who the author and publisher are of a book. In contrast,
an article from a web page may have trouble to prove its credibility. In short, the Internet cannot
always provide valuable message and information that respects to intellectual property rights.
Therefore, people should keep using book as the chief tool of learning. Another important reason
why the Internet and other technology should not replace the book is that the use of the Internet
and other technology may be a travers of developing social skills. It has been confirmed by
sociologists and anthropologists that the face to face communication between people is too
important to be ignored in the society. To be honest, it is

Overview: Market segmentation can be done in various ways. Most companies choose to use not
just one but a combination of methods:
1.Demographic segmentation
Demographics is the study of the make up of the population. Demographic trends illustrate how the

  • 2. The Top Five Coffee Shops Essay Any Top List is always subjective, in my opinion. There will probably be people in my town of Johnson City, Tennessee, who will disagree with the top 3 coffee shops that I have chosen. However, I think that these three independent coffee shops, which are all quite different, are exceptionally good. Beasley s Southern Bistro Beasley s Southern Bistro, located at 2203 McKinley Road in Johnson City (locals will remember the building as the old Klopman Mills), moved from its location on South Roan Street. It also changed its style a bit. The old Beasley s was known for its home cooking, which it still offers; however, they have also expanded the menu and added some unique sandwiches (including a lobster sub) and, of course, various types of coffees. My husband and I were frequent visitors to the Beasley s on South Roan and have followed them to their new place. I loved their regular coffeeat the old location. I adore their vanilla cappuccino at the new location. There is nothing better than Eggs Benedict for breakfast and a large cup of cappuccino. You can order other flavors and lattes, as well. In addition, when you first walk into the old Klopman Mills, you will notice that it is being turned into a large building full of dozens of spaces for offices or small retail establishments. Also, in the large entryway, Beasley s has set up comfy couches and chairs in front of a large stone fireplace where you can enjoy your coffee if you choose to skip the wonderful ... • 3. Difference Between Christianity And Ancient Egyptian Religion There are many arguments of how Christianity is an evolve religion from ancient Egypt religion. Especially with the talk between Horus and Jesus, and isis and mary. Christianity both have many similarities also they have a lot of differences. They both have a god but for ancient Egypt its gods, they both have a god that has a son, both Christianityand ancient Egyptreligionhas practices like any other religion. Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion have supreme being that they look up too, for Christianity being God and ancient religion has many gods and the main ones that are known are Osiris, Horus, and Iris. In both religions Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion they both have gods battling some type of evil., while god will be battling the devil and Ra would be fighting chaos to keep balance in the world and not let evil consume the earth. In ancient Egyptian religion they have over two thousand gods, and in Christianity, there is one god. Another difference between Christianity gods and African religion gods is that Christians god has one purpose while in ancient Egyptian each god has its own purpose and its own story like the Egyptian god Thoth the god of knowledge. Even though mary is not a god she was a virgin who gave birth to Jesus the son of god, while the same thing happened to Horus and his mother Isis. In both Christianity and ancient Egyptian religion, both sons of gods died and were resurrected. Jesus resurrecting for the Christians and hours resurrecting ancient Egyptian religion. The name king of kings is mainly established to Jesus but Osiris shares the same name king of kings also the of the lord of lords. • 4. Mexican-American War Dbq Was the United States Justified in Going to War With Mexico? They have taken the land away from the people of the United States, oh wait that s not right. Of course people know about the Mexican American War, but people haven t heard both sides of the story. This conflict happened in the 1840 s starting with Americans migrating to the west. Mexico shouldn t have allowed us to move into their territory because the people of the United Sates stole land that belonged to Mexico. When the two countries started to argue over the land, it would eventually lead to war. The United States was not vindicated in going to war with Mexico because, it was Mexico s land, slavery, and border disputes. The land didn t even belong to the United States. This is supported by documents C and D. Mexico allowed the people of the United States to expand to the west into what is now the southwest part of the United States. The United States had no right to annex Texas. The annexation of Texas into the United States would be considered a declaration of war (C). American settlers in California believed the land was theirs because Mexico had no control of it. The United States took the land away from Mexico by moving into their territory and calling it their own. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This claim can be supported by document D. Slavery has been in America for as long as the country has been around. When Mexico allowed Americans to move into Texas, people brought slaves across the border of Texas. Slaveholders crossed the Sabine river with their slaves, in defiance of the Mexican ordinance of freedom (D). Mexico had already abolished slavery, so Americans were breaking the law by bringing slaves into Mexican ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Impact Of The Progressive Movement At the turn of the twentieth century many things needed a change in order for a better society. The Progress Movement was an extension of reformers ideas and programs of the late nineteenth century. The Progressive Movement was a period of social activism and political reform in the United States that flourished from the 1890s to the 1920s. The European immigrants were one of the many to have an impact of the Progressive Movement. High minded European messengers of the social gospel promoted a brand of progressivism based on Christian teachings. A social gospel was the reform movement led by Protestant ministers who used religious doctrine to demand better housing and living conditions for the urban poor. Social gospel was very popular at the turn of the twentieth century; it closely linked to the settlement house movement, which brought middle class, Anglo American service volunteers into contact with immigrants and working people. Meanwhile, feminists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This resulted in the popular vote election; this allowed the voice of the voters to be heard. The public now felt like they were finally being heard again, the public could choose who was voted in to office, who would not be in office, and what laws would be made official. The political reformers believed that woman s vote would elevate the political tone, and the foes of the saloon felt that they could count on the support of enfranchised females. But it would take until the very end of the Progressive Movement, 1920, when women actually get the right to vote. • 6. Corporate Responsibility And Corporate Social... Stevan Jakovljevic Professor Laud MGT 3550 Values, Ethics and Sustainability 10/18/16 Chapter 3: Define corporate responsibility (CSR). Describe the benefits. Why do some executives support CSR while others find it troublesome and argue against it? Corporate social responsibility is what a company uses to self regulate itself and refers to business practices involving initiatives that benefit society. A business s CSR can encompass a wide variety of tactics, from giving away a portion of a company s proceeds to charity and implementing greener business operations. Companies use implement Corporate Social responsibilities for various reasons and this can be argued. Large corporations have a more reasons for CSR to protect their image Corporate social benefits also have many different benefits for the company. One of the primary reasons companies use CSR is to preserve the environment. Many large corporations have had bad track records in the past when it comes to pollution and a business no matter how large has a large carbon footprint. Even if the smallest amount of effort is used in order to reduce the amount of damage they do to the environment is good and that s why we see CSR being implemented. For a long stretch of time companies in the United States of America have been destroying the earth slowly by cutting down forests, polluting water ways and disposing of garbage in large amounts in the ocean. Now that these companies have been under attack by the people and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Returning to School Essay Wanting to return to school has been a dream for a long time. I am starting out a little late, at 45 years old, but I have finally found my passion, working in education. Since the age of thirteen, I have been working multiple jobs day and night, only to still be below the poverty line; stuck in survival mode for so long now that I need to have a permanent positive change that will help me accomplish more than I ever have. The reason for me going back to school is to get certified so I may become a teacher. Our low income was the culprit on pushing me to get started. I have been struggling for so long that now it is time for me to make a real difference in my life and those around me, hopefully resulting in an increase in my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While doing everything, I have been the only income, and support for my family, working three jobs, and volunteering for the PHS Band Boosters. Stress is high at home, and I just do not feel welcome. Our power was turned off, the phone and internet have already been disconnected, the house is a mess, the cars are breaking down, and we have no clothes, or shoes that are decent, and no money to buy any. I cannot afford to have the trash hauled off, so we live with piles of garbage outside and inside. I am two months behind on the rent, and we live out of the local food banks for our food. I m so embarrassed of how we live that I won t let anyone come over to visit. I hear the kids and my husband saying that they blame me for how we live. It s my fault that I am not home to keep things clean, or help with their homework, or that I am not bringing in enough money to pay the bills. I have to fight each day just to prove myself, to those closest to me. At this time the best that I can do, is to talk with one of the counselors at school, to see if they may be able to help us out as a family. Working with so many different types of people throughout the years, has taught me that there is a way if it is important enough to you. Giving up is not an option In order for this to work a serious change at home will need to take place, getting everyone back on track, and setting their priorities straight. I will need ... • 8. My First Pair Of Black Patent Leather Buckle Shoes Essay My first pair of black patent leather buckle shoes were so shiny. I was wearing cotton socks with lace trim that day. It was my first day of school; kindergarten. We were all sitting on the floor listening to Miss Bronk read us the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Her voice was fading off in the distance as I played with the buckles on my brand new shiny shoes. I nearly jumped out of my skin when Miss Bronk harshly spoke my name. Take your shoes off and bring them to me. She said. I just hung my head in shame. I was so embarrassed to be called out in class like that. I peeked at her though the tears in my eyes; Miss Bronk got up out of her chair and towered above me. Give me the shoes! she said. Unbuckling my shoes, I slipped them off my feet and handed them to her. I spent the rest of that day in school without my shoes. I never saw my pretty shoes again. After school that day I was standing out on the school portico waiting for the bus to come pick us up to take us home. I stood in line in my white cotton socks with lace tops. The kids made fun of me because I didn t have shoes. I didn t have nice clothes either, like the other kids did; mine were bought off the chubby girl rack at Sears and Roebuck. I didn t have one friend. Somehow I continued to go to kindergarten for the rest of the school term. Miss Bronk never mentioned my shoes when we had our party on the last day of school. We had cupcakes and milk that day. It was fun, but I didn t know anyone. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Causes And Impacts Of Transnational Corporations Transnational Corporations (TNCs), also known as Multinational corporations (MNCs), are businesses that have subsidiaries in at least one other state other than their home state (Jackson, 2013) Due to their reach they have a fairly significant role on global politics. They control the mass of the economy and GDP of many states, place pressure on policy makers through their decisions and influence the decisions of citizens through media. They, however, would not be able to function without the rules and economic control states have to create a market place and media channels. This limits their power to an extent but they still retain a position of power within the global political scene. TNCs have had a massive growth post World War II with America dominating the international market well into the 1960 s until Europe and Japan began to compete against them. In the modern global market changes in political regimes and ideologies have allowed for a diverse market with Eastern Europe and many other Asian countries finding their way in. China has made itself a super power in international trade, manufacturing and export due to the cheap costs. Many Transnational corporations have more worth than some states with Wal Mart being worth more than Israel, Poland and many others. There is an estimated sixty one thousand TNCs that make up two thirds of the global trade with a third coming from inter firm transactions (Raghavan, 1996). The states themselves take advantage of the reach ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tilted Towers is where about 30% of the 100 people go. Many people have said that Tilted Towers should be removed from the game because of the ridiculous amount of people go there. On the other side, a lot of people love going there because it is full of action. As you play the game you will find what is called loot . This is all the things that you can pick up and keep in your inventory. This includes guns, ammo, explosives, and meds. The different meds in the game are bandages, medkits, shield potions, and chug jugs. When the game first starts, you are given 100% health and no shield. • 11. The Risk Factors of Osteoarthritis Essay OA has a complex pathology, with numerous environmental and genetic risk factors. Generally, OA is thought to be caused by a complex interaction between environmental and genetic factors (Valdes et al., 2009). A variety of epidemiological studies have demonstrated that genetic susceptibility is a key regulator of OA aetiology (Peach et al., 2005). Genetic variations may influence several OA risk factors, including obesity, skeletal shape, bone mass and synovitis (Valdes et al., 2011a). Furthermore, it has been shown that generalized OA phenotype, sensitivity to pain and disease progression may be also determined by genetic susceptibility (Valdes et al., 2010a; van Meurs et al., 2009; Kerkhof et al., 2010). In the 1940s familial clustering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... OA is generally recognized as a complex multi factor disease that has mostly small and modest effect susceptibility loci (Reynard et al., 2012). Over the past decade efforts have been focused on the search for loci that predispose to OA. The following approaches most often have been attempts to provide insight into the complexity of OA genetics: genetic linkage studies (LA), genome wide association studies (GWAS) and candidate gene studies. LA exploits the fact that genes have a tendency to be inherited together because they are located close to each other. After identification of a linkage, all genes in the linked region need to be identified and in this manner candidate genes of interest for a disease can be established. LA has been successful in localizing chromosomal regions containing highly penetrant genetic variants. However, in a common disease, such as OA, the success of LA is very limited for a number of reasons, including the low power of identification of genes with modest effects and the large impact of environmental influences (Risch et al., 1996). After the completion of the Human Genome Sequencing project, which provided the opportunity to systematically search across the genome and to test large numbers of common genetic variants for association with disease, GWAS have been successfully applied to the study of many complex diseases. GWAS make it possible to examine the associations of thousands of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It can be obtained as an over the counter drug or medication that requires a doctor s prescription. I will be presenting the value of muscle relaxant to overstimulated muscles with a neurologic involvement such as spasticity, and how it can help mitigate and revive the person ability to recapitulate his capability to perform his/her activities of daily living. Spasticity is described as an abnormal muscle tone that is velocity dependent, and it is usually correlated with an upper motor neuron lesion with an association of hyperactive deep tendon reflexes (Nair Marsden, 2014, p. 1). The researchers have attributed this change to the influence of baclofen on the knee extensors and ankle dorsiflexion at the final part of swing phase. I believe that developing nations are better off without mining majors in operation within them because of the possibility for government corruption. Developing nations are better off without mining majors because the country is seen as a target for large revenue gains, the Global Business Standards Codex and fair treatment of local people can often be disregarded at the expense of profits. Artisanal miners live in or around mines and generally do all of their work by hand, including the extraction of ore, to make a living. As these people live on the mine, if a company wants to buy the mine then they have to move the whole town elsewhere. In accordance with the fairness principle, which has always been involved with ethical thought (Paine et al. 2005), the mining company should provide housing for the artisanal miners. However, by doing this, the company is taking the miners away from their source of money and livelihood, which creates an imbalance. An example of this is the Canadian mining company in Essakane, Burkina Faso (Siegel 2013). As global mining companies seek new avenues of revenue they are increasingly turning to the developing world. • 22. Hyperbole Ideas Of Love In Sonnet 130 By William Shakespeare Writers in the sixteenth century had grandiose ideas about love. The renaissance is a period when love poems were common. Many of those poems came in the form of sonnets describing the author s love interest. These sonnets include flowery language comparing women to objects such as the sun, moon, and stars. William Shakespeare has also used this type of poem to describe women. He has also employed the typical poetic devices in many of his sonnets. However, in Sonnet 130, Shakespeare uses simile, hyperbole, and allegory to parody the conventional sonnets of his time. First, Shakespeare employs simile to describe his speaker s loveinterest. A simile is a figure of speech comparing two unlike things to make the description seem more vivid. Shakespeare uses simile to negate the likeness of the woman s beauty to inanimate objects. He states, in the very first line, that her eyes are not like the sun, which is in direct opposition to other sonnets of that time. Shakespeare implies that this woman is not an epitome of beauty and that more beautiful things exist (Woolway). By reversing the language, he conveys that describing a woman as a beautiful object seems almost ridiculous. He continues the negative comparison throughout the poem proving he does not praise her for some exalted, unrealistic standard of beauty (Kramer). The speaker loves his mistress for her imperfections which Shakespeare exaggerates to make a point. Shakespeare uses hyperbole in his sonnet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yes, most people will recognize that human beings deserve certain rights, but past that point all opinions begin to split and scatter. As it stands, human rightsare an ever changing and complex category of issues. In order to try and make sense of these complex topics, scholars employ a range of theories. Theories act like a lens, helping to organize the analytical process and point people in the appropriate direction. Without the foundation that theory lays out, the thought process, as well as arguments, can quickly become a mess of smaller thoughts, often with contradicting outcomes. • 33. Candide By Voltaire And The Song `` Pursuit Of Happiness... Throughout history people have been looking for something that made life special, spectacular, or one of a kind. Today, this search is known to the world as the pursuit of happiness . The phrase use was heightened during the enlightenment period and lingered for long after. This impact of its use did not only impact the way life was looked at but also impacted the arts during that time and for the future. Two pieces that show this evidence is the novel Candideby Voltaireand the song Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi. Both of these works, even though they were published more than two centuries apart, carry the theme of the pursuit of happiness. These pieces are evidence of the unchanging pursuit that mankind goes through. The beginning of the pursuit is where both of the stories start off. Where the characters get a taste of what they believe to be pure happiness . In Kid Cudi s song, the narrator finds what they believe to be happiness in drugs and alcohol. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends Case Law Analysis Case Summary In a perfect world, there would be no need for laws protecting people from employment discrimination; however, in this often unjust world, discrimination continues. Hence, federal and state protections exist for certain groups of people sharing common characteristics. Some of these protected classes are race, religion or creed, gender, and disability (EEOC, 2015). In the legal case of Ritter v. Auntie Ruth s Furry Friends (ARFF), Ritter claimed she became the target of age discrimination after the business was sold to two people under the age of thrty. The following is an overview of the case that highlights how ignorance of or willful disregard of the rights of others can be a costly mistake. While laws are unlikely to change the minds of those who seek to discriminate, those breaking the law must be held accountable. Case Summary In the above referenced case, Ritter, the appellant, began her employment as the general manager at the boarding kennel approximately one year prior to the sale of the business. In 2012, the business changed ownership to Annie Haubenhofer and Mike McKinley. Upon taking ownership, they required all current employees to reapply for their jobs. AARF rehired all of the existing employees, including Ritter, subject to a 90 day probationary period. European settlers felt that the aboriginal people were savage, ignorant, and like children needed guidance, and needed to be civilized . The Canadian government came up with a policy called aggressive assimilation to be taught at industrial schools that would be run by the churches and government funded. On the other hand, generally speaking, the publishing process for the book is more stringent and credible than online resources. As people realize the fact that the Internet is so open and free that everyone can write anything on the web, a great amount of misleading information have been circulated for perusal around the network. It is a great challenge to distinguish which of them is true or credible; however, information from books is basically, generally believable. One of the reasons for this is that people can easily find out who the author and publisher are of a book. In contrast, an article from a web page may have trouble to prove its credibility. In short, the Internet cannot always provide valuable message and information that respects to intellectual property rights. Therefore, people should keep using book as the chief tool of learning. Another important reason why the Internet and other technology should not replace the book is that the use of the Internet and other technology may be a travers of developing social skills. It has been confirmed by sociologists and anthropologists that the face to face communication between people is too important to be ignored in the society. To be honest, it is ...
