Greek Religion And Public Life In Ancient Greece
The Greek people had many things they were proud of for evolving as their era began to pick up
steam. The things they were well known for were their religious beliefs and their philosophies.
Though both were pivotal for the Greek people, these two areas were very different.
Greek Religion To the Greeks, religion, was a major part of their private and public life every day.
Greek religion was big on public rituals, community festivals, showed great community pride, and
was big on their heritage. Their religion was more public than private. Their religion was divided
up into two categories. The Olympian deities whom they felt dwelled in the skies or mountaintops.
Olympian religion felt that the deities intercede in daily activities, and that

The And Its Effects On The Perception Of The External...
After washing away all prior beliefs of the external world about us, Descartes builds a system of
doubt that forces readers to question if they truly know anything about the external world around
us. His factors building this doubt include the possibility of madness, sensory deception, chance or
the continuous chain of events leading to our present state, omnipotent beings, or the idea that we
may be dreaming. Descartes claims that there is no way to indubitably know the truthof our external
environment, however it is indubitable that there is an internal being or self. Whether it is based
on a personal experience or someone else s, one can agree that all of the factors given could
result in skewed knowledge. Aristotle once said that, our senses can be trusted but they can be
easily fooled. Because our senses can be so easily deceived, trustworthiness is perhaps not the best
trait to award it with. The eyes and mindcan always play tricks on you. One often comes by optical
illusions in which one line looks longer than another when they are both the same size, or circles
appear to be spinning when they are actually still, or numerous other kinds of these tests. Our eyes
trick us constantly into believing things to be happening when they are not. For example, young
kids claim to see monsters or ghosts in their rooms at night because their eyes and mind trick them
into seeing these creatures. Once on a ghost hunting TV show, one of the hosts addressed a common

Progressive Education Essay
John Keating, a student at Welton Academy inspired his fellow classmates, to meet in caves and
read challenging poetry of the past, not with flashcards, but with these words, Now, my class,
you will learn to think for yourselves again. You will learn to savor words and language. No
matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world. Typically, students do not
hear enough of this type of passion in a traditional classroom. However, a progressive classroom,
be it a cave or college can inspire students to memorize facts, not because they have to, but rather
because they want to for the betterment of humanity. Society desperately needs students educated
in a progressive style because America needs students who realize... Show more content on

Educational philosopher, Marie Montessori was a strong advocate for such learning, particularly for
children under age three who have a strong interest in learning through the use of movement and
verbal play (So what s Montessori and Piaget?).
John Dewey, another educational philosopher believed Education is a social process. Education is
growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself. (Inc.) He felt that learning
took place only when students had internalized what they had gained through experience and
practiced it in their own lives. In a progressive classroom, the teacher designs experiences for
students with the idea that through experience, students build knowledge and skills. A society of
individuals conforming to studying flashcards may be good, but a society of literate individuals
consciously aware of why and how the facts on the flashcards and in mass media can solve new
problems is better.
A progressive classroom looks different, and a progressive teacher inspires unique thinking in
individual students differently, as well. Instead of being strict with a set curriculum and specific
subject to cover, teachers find their students present interests, abilities, and needs. Developing
individualized education plans based on student interests and

Charlemagne s Disappearance
After the fall of Rome, havoc descended upon Europe as it fell into a dark age of chaos and
destruction. Everything that the Romans had ever aspired to build was put into disfunction. As
the people were free from a governing rule, the long period of peace was over. The previous
Roman citizens were left with a new world that they had not experienced before one without a
job to works in, a job to feed their families. They no longer had anyone to pay taxes to. As a
result, all of the other benefits of the kingdom such as the aqueducts and the roads, were no longer
being repaired. Daily life was a struggle, as barbarians ruled the streets, making homes and camps
out of great monuments such as the Coliseum and the Circus Maximus. However, around... Show

To start, Charlemagne was respected by his people because he gave people what they needed: a
better way to live life. He provided free education for all of the people in his kingdom, by
creating new schools to educate his people to have a better life. As a result, Charlemagne
became even more likable, with the people enjoying a chance to have a better education as well
as a better view point of a life less barbaric. Next, Charlemagne tried to be more than a ruler and
more a part of the community. One of the reasons why Charlemagne is so famous is because he
tried to educate himself. He was described by Einhard as a great teacher, as he was capable in
multiple languages, along with being taught by some great teachers. Rather that being a great
ruler by educating his people, he became an even greater ruler by educating himself. By doing
this, his people had even more faith in the fact that he was going to rule properly, that every
decision that he made was well thought out. Born into a period where education was scarce if
existent, this was an astonishing act. Lastly, Charlemagne was respected by his people because of
his work with public structures. This King, who showed himself so great in extending his empire
and subduing foreign nations, and was constantly occupied with plans to that end, undertook also
very many works calculated to adorn and benefit his kingdom... (Einhard). Some of these
additions included a half mile long bridge, and a basilica. Whenever Charlemagne would see
something is disrepair, he would consult priests to go get it fixed. To finish, Charlemagne, was not
only a great battle leader, but was also interested in improving his

The Future Of Zoos During The World Of Activists Attacks
The Future of Zoos In the Midst of Activists Attacks
In an increasingly threatening environmental crisis, zoos are participating in the conservation of
species. The biodiversity of the animal and plant worlds is being deeply affected, on the one hand
by the disruption of ecosystems caused mainly by climate change and deforestation, and on the
other hand, by the globalization of trade, travel, transport, and tourism. These two factors are
increasingly reducing animals habitats and endangering many species (Keulartz 336). Even in the
face of the environmental serial destruction, animal protectionist and wildlife conservationist
activists criticize zoo s efforts to protect the animals they house. The ways zoos progresses in the
future to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Doctor Chris Parsons, former Director of the Society for Conservation Biology, explains
animal welfare groups accept the use of animals for some human interests like clothing, food,
recreational need, or scientific experiments, as long as the animal is free of stress and pain . The
influential groups, the Humane Society and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals, recognize on their website some zoos are beneficial to animals supporting conservation
programs, participating in the preservation and restoration of endangered species, and promoting
education about the importance of wildlife. However, this statement holds under certain conditions.
First, the Humane Society recommends zoos to be organized around a core mission that educates
the public about the needs of the animals and the threats they face . Also, zoos should provide
animals with humane care and adapted to their physical, social and psychological needs. Finally,
ASPCA indicates, zoos should participate in tightly controlled breeding programs and their display
should stress the themes of endangered species, wild habitat destruction and reduced biodiversity .
Unfortunately, many zoos are not falling under this description, but they can act on several factors
in the intent to work towards the animal welfare activists demands.

Christian Middle Ages Architecture Analysis
THE proof of the endowment of a true artist is always to be found in the fact that his work of art
expresses the general will of a period. Perhaps that is most clearly shown in architecture.... The
religious mystical world of the Christian Middle Ages, turning inwards upon itself, found forms of
expression which were possible only for that world for that world alone could they be of service. A
Gothic stadium is as unthinkable as a Romanesque railway station or a Byzantine market hall. The
way in which the artist of the Middle Ages, of the beginnings of the modern world, found the
artistic solution for the buildings which he was commissioned to create is in the highest degree
striking and admirable. That way, however, is no evidence that the conception of the content of
life held by the folk of his day was in itself either absolutely right or absolutely wrong; it is
evidence only that works of art have rightly mirrored the inner mind of a past age. It is therefore
quite comprehensible that insofar as the attempt is made to carry on the life of that past age, those
who search for solutions of artistic problems can still seek and find there... Show more content on

The art of Greece is not merely a formal reproduction of the Greek mode of life, of the
landscapes and inhabitants of Greece; no, it is a proclamation of the Greek body and of the
essential Greek spirit. It does not make propaganda for an individual work, for the subject, or for
the artist; it makes propaganda for the Greek world as such, which confronts us in

Logical Fallacies Examples
(TS) There are many examples of logical fallacies in this year s presidential campaign, but one of
the main ones is Ad hominem or Name Calling, which can be seen in many instances in
presidential debates, particularly by Donald Trump, and other times when one candidate is asked
to speak about the other. Understanding these fallacies and being able to spot them will help you
find whom would be the superior candidate. (PS)Name Calling is shown when Donald Trump
repeatedly insulted Hillary Clinton s character and has also made several sexist remarks, which
shows that Donald Trump is making a weak argument and trying to back it up by insulting the

Pygmalion Vs Makeover Essay
Pygmalion Vs. The Makeover
Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, is a play written in 1912 based off of the Ancient Greek
myth, Pygmalion. The play is about a girl named Eliza who is transformed from a nearly
homeless, ill mannered girl to a beautiful lady by two well off men; this is similar to the Pygmalion
myth of a man creating his ideal woman out of ivory. The Makeover is a movie intended to re
make George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion. Although The Makeover does an outstanding job at
depicting the underlying themes and holding similar to the plotline of Pygmalion, there are still
several differences between the two pieces of work.
Although the main events of both plotlines are identical, the movie sways from the play on
several accounts. In Pygmalion, the protagonist being made over is a girl and her transformers
are two well off men; while in The Makeover the protagonist being made over is a man and his
transformers are two well off women. This is a trend of difference between the two works. The
Makeover flipped the genders of all of the characters in Pygmalion. Another difference is the
introduction of the main protagonist in each work. In Pygmalion, Eliza is brought into the story as

you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway. The good you do today

your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak. Do you have faith? Have it to yourself

clergies must live by their faith in God. This is also applicable to tithing (giving), as a clergymen

not for the faint of heart, but for those who are convinced it is what God has called them to do, it
becomes a passionate endeavor. Coupled with certain convictions and preferences over pay, a
clergy might also in effect have to crop out some of the more luxurious articles of first world life
or maybe first world life in total (as in the instance of many 3rd world missionaries), regarding
this, sacrifices are made by all those who follow this career path. Furthermore, clergies often do not

The purpose of this project is to decrease potential medication errors in the facility. This will be
done by following some strategies: Developing a policy that emphasizes the importance of
medication errors preventions, this policy will require one of the healthcare providers to give
training after the hiring process (orientation, interviewing, and competency evaluation) and before
assigning personnel to particular care. Competency evaluation will be done for all healthcare
personnel. Establishing policies and procedures that acquire reasonable workload and ensuring staff
not to exceed the required hours. Before medication administration, the original prescription will be

but the assessment shows that the client does not need the dose now, the staff members have to
stop giving the medication. III. Empirical Evidence/Literature Review There is a lot of evidence
shown that medication errors in healthcare practices can be caused by many factors such as type of
shift including night shift vs day shift and/or 12 hour shift vs 8 hours shift. Kind of shift scheduling

Gender Issues In The Secret Life Of Bees
The Secret Life of Bees includes many issues that were going on during the 1960 s. Some issues
stated were more sought after than others depending where in the country one was located. In the
book, Lily lives in the heart of the south, South Carolina, which makes it easy to point out specific,
debatable topics. With this, The Secret Lifeof Bees portrays many of the movements and issues
prevalent in the 1960s like Gender Issues, the Women s Rights Movement, and the Civil Rights
movement.
As stated, the Secret Life of Bees provides an inside look at Gender Issues. During the 1960s,
women started to break free from the stereotype that they had to find marriage in their early 20s
and have children in the following years. In Secret Life of Bees, August does not follow the usual
stereotype and decides to be without a husband. The Daughters of Mary provide each other with
support a man could not. Although women started to rebel during this time, they still could not

The story Daisy Miller is a romance of a love that can never be. The character Annie P. Miller
(known as Daisy Miller) is portrayed as a young naive wild yet, innocent girl who want to do
nothing more but have fun with the company she please. The story Daisy Miller is a lot like The
Age of Innocence. In both the movie and the book the leading ladywas shunned from society
because of their behavior. Both Daisy and the Countess Olenska were misunderstood and out casted
because they were saw as different. These women did not want to conform to what the society
thoughtwas proper and good, they had their own opinion and was bold in their time to state it.

She enjoyed herself and that was enough for her to be happy.
The Countess Olenska was much like Daisy. The Countess was a free sprit who did not care that
society did not agree with her suing for a divorce. She wanted to be free. She hated when
everyone that she felt were so nice turned and gave her the cold shoulder. The Countess did not
like being shunned so she did give consideration to society s chants. She did not sue for the
divorce but she refused to go back to her husband. Society was not the reason for her actions
although, considered, did not make the final decision.
Like every romance there has to be a charming gentlemen. In The Age of Innocence there were
Newland and Winterborne in Daisy Miller . These two man were a lot alike and in so many ways
so different. They were different because of their circumstance but also had different point of views.
They were both gentlemen and made choices as gentlemen should.
Newland was a gentlemen gentleman. He did not like for people to talk ghastly of The Countess.
He felt she should make her own choice. Newland was inclined to a woman being equal to and
having equal freedom as a man. Newland, however, had a set of circumstance that made this
romance go for a loop. Newland was engaged to The Countess Olenska s cousin. The fact did not
stop him from confessing his love to The Countess. He made the choice to go ahead with the

Analysis Of A Raisin In The Sun
A Raisin in the Sun written by Lorraine Hansberry tells the story of a lower class African
American family s struggle to gain middle class acceptance when Mama, the sixty year old
mother, receives a $10,000 insurance check from the death of her husband. The drama primarily
focuses on how the ten thousand dollars should be spent. Walter Lee Younger, the son, so
desperate to better provide for his family, wants to invest all the money into a liquor store with
two of his friends. Mama objects and instead decides to use part of the check as a down payment
on a house in a white neighborhood. Conflicts with Walter escalate. In an attempt to resolve
things with her son, Mama entrusts Walter with the rest of the money. He immediately invests
it, without the consent of Mama, in his liquor store idea, with the belief he will quadruple his
investment. However, one of Walter s business partners runs off with the money. In spite the
loss and being warned by white neighbors that blacks are not welcomed, the Youngers continue
with their plans to move. A Raisin in the Sun previously named The Crystal Stair debuted on
Broadway at Ethel Barrymore Theater on March 11, 1959. It had a total of 530 performances
before the curtain closed one last time on June 25, 1960. But this successful play didn t have an
easy beginning. Before it even premiered for the first time, the play was considered a risky
investment and took a year to raise money to launch it. However, this rocky start lead to a

The Failure of Integration Essay
The Failure of Integration
After four decades of school integration America has given up, and the question is: quot; Why?
quot;. I believe the answer is because absolutely nothing worked!
Bussing was a hassle, most magnet schools were set up for false reasons, and everything was
very costly. With everything they tried there were still no significant changes in the test scores of
the minority students. So now here we are in the late 21st century and it can all be summed up
with what Chris Hansen of the American Civil Liberties Union in New York City believes the
courts are saying, quot;We still agree with the goal of school desegregation, but it s too hard, and
we re tired of it, and we give up. quot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
quot; There is evidence that federal courts are realizing that the 25 year old policy of busing to
achieve racial balance in schools has not worked as a means for ending segregation or improving
the academic performance of minority students. quot;(NCPA)
Busing did not work out as planned; scores for minority students were not higher and neither was
their happiness. Peter Schmidt opinion is that quot;after seeing some districts labyrinthine busing
maps, that mandating the integration of classrooms has cost a good number of students any chance
of a fair and quality education. quot; Another reason why plans for integration stopped was that
many believed they were morally wrong. Mr. Symington, a Republican, said, quot; The education of
Arizona s children should not be held prisoner by a racial quota system. quot; While
Edward Newsome feels it s just patronizing to blacks, quot;that the courts are so willing to assume
that anything that is predominately black must be inferior. quot;
There were also problems with magnet school programs. Most were designed to attract white
students to predominately black schools and vice versa. The communities were using magnet
schools to lure whites away from private schools.
Along with being unjust the magnet school plan also did not work. In 1985 one district was 73.6%
minority, 11 years later the district is now 75.9% minority.
Missouri v. Jenkins stopped the unjustness of Judge

The Mother By May Herschel-Clarke Essay
2015 marks the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli where ANZAC Legends such as Simpson and his
donkey were born. These stories shed light on war but left the heart break of mothers and death
of millions of soldiers in the dark. During World War 1 (WW1) about 42 million men in the
Allied countries heeded the call of their country to show their patriotism and courage. After the
long, harsh war the death of 5 million soldiers left families around the world without a son.
WW1, the war to end all wars as said by Woodrow Wilson an American president, clearly didn t
end the suffering instead started more which can still be seen in the 21 century with wars in Iraq
and against the ISIS terror group. People could not experience the reality of war first... Show more

The Mother is an allusion to The Soldier , which glorifies war and the death of soldiers. The
Mother is the complete opposite, imparting the horrible realities of war, creating a very
melancholy and sombre tone. The poem starts with similar word choices as The Soldier but
written in the perspective of the mother. The mother tells his son that when he dies he will be in
a place of quietness and free from the loss and bloodshed . This reinforces the fact that the
battlefield was full of horrors and death. The poem then moves onto how men may rest
themselves and dream of nought explaining that the soldiers do not have to fear for their lives
after their death. This illustrates how they feared for their lives and had negative connotations.
Through the use of poetic devices such as metonymy and alliteration, poets are able to emphasise
key ideas. Clarke talks about draining a bitter cup , a metonymy for poison which she drinks
because of the miserable thought of her son dying. Clarke infers that idealism of war and
patriotism is naГЇve, and does not take into account the pain and suffering endured by their loving

of efforts have been made by researchers to synthesis Ag nanoparticles by various methods, such as,

many advantages to synthesis AgNPs over any other approaches due to low cost, non toxicity,
repeatability, bulk production, environmental friendly, less time consuming, ease of synthesis,

the Union (northern states) was fighting against the Confederates (southern states that succeeded
from the Union). The war resulted in the death of 620,000 plus Americans and left millions injured.
During the Civil War there were many important battles that took place over the years. Battle of

Barrow became impressed with Sir Newton and Sir Newton eventually succeeded Barrow as the

By this time he was reaching his middle ages and Sir Newton s work was said to distinctly
advance every branch of mathematics then studied . He worked more on the binomial theorem,
harmonic series by logarithms, his identities and methods, optics, cubics and finally mechanics
and gravitation which have a strong relation to projectiles and ballistics. Two of the main
workings of Sir Newton which also relate strongly to projectiles and ballistics is the famous one
named Newton s Apple which is fundamental in all education in the world today and of which
most of the world will recognise and also his Law s of Motion which is largely similar to
Newton s Apple where most people will recognise what these laws are and who they came from.
This demonstrates what a significant impact Newton had on Mathematics and Physics in his time

Analysis Of Educating Rita
Educating Rita: A Realistic Film From the Director s Perspective
Educating Rita is a realistic look at a woman s journey to change and find herself. The director
keeps the film simple while watching her overcome a lack of confidence and other obstacles. The
film is considered a comedy but is still a relatable story because the director represented Rita s
character as she really would be(dictionary.com).
Rita, real name Susan, is a young married hairdresser that wants to get an education. Frank is an
alcoholic literature teacher who is assigned to help her through the program she enrolled in. Both
have rocky relationships and the audience could easily assume they end up falling for each
other(Maslin). Rita has a thirst for knowledge but little understanding of what she is quoting. Rita
makes new friends and tries new things. She even marvels at how much she liked seeing
Macbeth(Maslin). By the end of the movie she gains an understanding of her education and passes
her test with distinction. Through this series of events both characters end up single, yet part in the
same manor that they met(Maslin).
Lewis Gilbert, the director of the film, had the responsibility of using all the elements of film to
interpret the writers ideas(dictionary.com). In Educationg Rita he uses realistic lighting and very
little mood music to indicate how the viewer should feel during the scene. Another way a director
can get a viewer to feel a certain way or to focus on a particular conversation, is

Ring Contraction Of A Ring
RING CONTRACTION
All the carbons of a ring are equivalent (a ring has no ends like an open chain compound does),1
ring compounds can be classified as either monocyclic or polycyclic compounds.
As the word contraction means shrinking, ring contraction can be defined as the process of
shrinking larger ring compounds which are less strained into a more strained smaller ring
structures. Instead of making small strained ring by chemical reaction which is very strenuous to
do, ring contraction is a process of easing the stress of forming smaller strained ring on their own.
A ring contraction reaction is a type of organic reaction in which usually a hydrocarbon ring is
reduced in size.2 Ring contraction reactions are an important method to increase molecular
complexity in a single step, because, in many cases, the reorganization of the bonds occurs with a
high level of selectivity, affording products not easily accessible by other synthetic approaches.2.
and 3.
The smallest ring compound possible is cyclopropane, this is so because we need at least three
carbon atoms to form a ring structure. Cyclopropane is the most strained ring compound due to
the fact that its carbon atoms are sp3 hybridized, sp3 carbon have an angle of 1090, but the carbon
atoms in cyclopropane are strained in an angle of 600. Scheme 1: Mechanism of a typical ring

METHODS FOR RING CONTRACTION
Ring contraction occurs through rearrangement of carbon atoms to form a smaller ring structure.

Business Plan Proposal
Business Plan Proposal
Introduction
The development of start ups is an important business activity that requires effort, time, and
financial resources. It is important to correctly establish the resources that are required by opening
a business in order to be able to successfully reach the objectives established for businesses in each
situation. In this case, the business plan refers to developing a restaurant that focuses on providing
meals that are based on organic foods.
The benefits of organic foods are well known. There are numerous studies in the field that have
identified the benefits that organic foods have on individuals health. There are also numerous
studies that reveal the effects that fast food has on people. Certain governments in different
companies develop campaigns intended to increase awareness on such issues, and to modify the
eating habits of people in these countries. However, it is difficult to reach this objective when
customers have numerous fast food restaurants to choose from. These restaurants provide fast
service at smaller prices, and this is what most customers want.
Therefore, it is important that food providers participate in campaigns developed by governments in
their attempt to improve eating habits. Restaurants that provide healthy food have a better image on
the market in comparison with fast food restaurants. But health food is considered to be more
expensive. This refers to higher production costs, increased costs of

The Causes And Effects Of The Enslavement Of Africa
There were a lot of causes of the enslavement of Africans but the effects that it left had a much
bigger impact, even in our lives today. In fact the effects caused by the Africans enslavement are
still somewhat around to this day. Some are even huge political issues that consume our country
and its social structure. The causes of all this started way back in the Atlantic world, from the 15
to 1850 s, when traders and colonists went to Africa and took Africans out of their societies. When
the Americas were first settled they began to fish and hunt and eventually learned how to farm.
However these farmers could not tend to all of these fields all by themselves, they needed workers.
Soon they found out that there had already been slavery... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the fact that their skin color was different was another deciding reason they chose them. For
example if they run away they couldn t just blend in with the people of the community and get
out of working for their master. Also there was already slavery in Africa so there were plenty of
slaves already they just needed to bring them to America. But the Europeans weren t the only
ones trying to take advantage of the African slaves, so were the muslims. However the Muslims
weren t nearly as harsh on their slaves as the Europeans were. They let their slaves have
freedoms and rights and even allowed them ways to get out of slavery. Such as marrying into the
owner s family or into someone else s. As for the Europeans slaves, they had no rights, barely
any food, and terrible living conditions. Along with that they used the gang system as for how
they divided the work among the slaves, while the Muslims slaves had the task system which
meant they did the job assigned and had time to do whatever they wanted as long as they stayed
on the property and didn t go against any of their masters rules. As a result of the African slave trade
, the african societies they took them from had been left in ruins. There was no one left for there
to be any societies anymore. Some slaves were taken by force so there was most likely some
physical damage to their structures as well. Also many of the slaves they had were beaten to death

The Importance Of Job Related Stress Among Police Officers
As a police commander or administrator, addressing the concerns of the officers in your employ,
is one of the most important duties that you have. This is especially true when addressing the
issues of job related stress. Studies have shown that many police officers perceive the most stress,
which they experience, originates from within the department. The studies have also shown that
job related stress is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease in policeofficers (Vicini, 2013). With
these thoughts in mind, it is imperative for police administrators to have a plan of action in place,
to evaluate and validate the concerns of the officers, and to provide the most effective practices to
reduce this stress. As an administrator, who officers had confided their concerns to, the first thing
that I would needto do would be to evaluate the validity of the officers claims about the stressors
which they are dealing with. The first step of this process would be to meet with the officers, in a
one on one setting, so that I could evaluate their appearance, mood, level of agitation, and their
sincerity concerning the issues which they are bringing forward. This meeting would be a way of
showing the officers that I am truly concerned with heir issues, and their wellbeing. Once I have
met with the officers, I would move to the next step of the evaluation. For me, the next step in the
evaluation process would be to meet with the complaining officers direct supervisors and

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Nausea
What Does Nausea Feel Like
One of the early signs of pregnancy is nausea, and many expectant mothers experience nausea
during early pregnancy. Nausea is usually a common symptom throughout the first trimester or even
longer, and it is typically the most complained about symptom that women report. Fortunately, even
though nausea can be terribly uncomfortable, it is not harmful to you or your baby. Not
surprisingly, first time mothers want to know, what does nausea feel like?

it, I realized that odors were triggering my bouts of nausea. The smell of eggs and garbage was

Why Would I Experience Nausea in Pregnancy?
Nobody can say exactly what causes nausea during pregnancy. However, it is probably a
combination of the many changes your body is going through and some of the possible causes
could include:
$Estrogen: The hormone estrogen increases rapidly during early pregnancy and may contribute to
feelings of nausea.
$Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG): This hormone also increases during early pregnancy, and
especially if the pregnancy is with twins. While not much is known about its contribution to nausea,
the timing suggests that it might increase a mother s sensitivity to it.
$Enhanced Sensitivity to Odors: It s very common for pregnant women to be overwhelmed by
certain odors. Culprits can include eggs, raw meat,

The Blonde Bimbo. Long or fluffy hair, revealing clothes. Sometimes dumb, not able to use

When I watched the TV to find some examples of stereotypes, the first thing I saw was a trailer for

Abstract Israel has complex security concerns that include both Palestinian and Syrian concerns.
The roots of the problem are complex and vast. To deal with these, this essay, therefore, focused

The Truth About SARS Essay
The Truth About SARS
People in general are both fascinated and paranoid of the onset of new infectious diseases. While
films such as Outbreak are smash hits at the box office, when an actual disease becomes apparent
people often react with a kind of mass hysteria. Last year, a new illness reared its evil head. While
the name SARS has become fairly well known, the actual facts behind the illness are not as widely
talked about.
SARS is an acronym for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. The illness usually first becomes
evident with a temperature above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, general malaise, and body aches. This
adds to the difficulty of identifying SARS; the general signs of the illness are so similar to more
common ailments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists have detected a previously unrecognized coronavirus in SARS patients, and this has
become the leading hypothesis for the cause of SARS. Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that,
when viewed under a powerful microscope, have a halo or crown like (hence corona) appearance.
Viruses under these headings are known to commonly cause mild to moderate upper respiratory
illness in humans. In animals, coronaviruses are associated with respiratory, gastrointestinal, liver,
and neurological diseases. Also, new ways to detect SARS have been discovered. Serologic
testing for the SARS syndrome can be performed using indirect fluorescent antibodies or enzyme
linked immunosorbent assays that are specific for the antibody that was produced after infection. A
reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (known as RT PCR) test can also detect SARS in
specimens such as serum, stool, and nasal secretions. Also, viral cultures and isolation have been
used to detect SARS lt; 1 1)yahoo.com.
While many conclusions have been drawn about SARS, such as its incubation period and
symptoms, the unknowns concerning the syndrome remain unsettling. The fear that people have
concerning the syndrome is not unwarranted. According to the World Health Organization, as of

Entrepreneurial Orientation In The Apple Computer Company
Entrepreneurial orientation is a key concept when organizations are creating strategies to do

techniques that allows them to maintain market dominance. We ll go into further detail discussing
how both these companies effectively executed entrepreneurial orientation to achieve such success;

An Theoretical School District, School, And A Classroom
In this paper I am going to present an theoretical school district, school, and a classroom as
examples of
the ideal that our educational system should strive to achieve. The philosophy my schools will be
based
on is one of equality. Every single child will have an opportunity to receive the best possible
education.
However, we will never lower our standards for the sake of equality. Each child will be pushed to
his or
her personal best, not an average standard.
Before talking about what goes on inside the schools, I d like to mention the district itself. There
will be
no alternative school choices, bussing, or deliberate desegregation practices. Each school will be
remarkably similar to the others in the district so that every child may receive a similar education
regardless of the neighborhood they live in. When students are separated to different schools for any
reason (academic talent, wealth, interests, race, gender) they fail to interact with different types of
people that they will undoubtedly encounter in the real adult world. In addition, I feel that is very
important for children from the same neighborhood to attend the same school in order to increase a
sense of community. Finally, as the Case Study of Boulder Valley points out, school choice takes
valuable
resources away from teaching and places them in school competition (Howe 144).
Within a typical high school, there will be many different kinds of students. Likewise, there will be

Witches And The Witch Trials
In Europe from the late fifteenth to early seventeenth centuries many people, both men and
women, were persecuted as witches. The reasons for the persecution of individuals as witches
included gender discrimination, religious fanaticism, an explanation for the otherwise
unexplainable events that took place, and even as a way for secular officials to gain more wealth.
Misogyny being a cause to the witch trials may have resulted from the new roles of women in
society conflicting with the traditional views of women as sinful, and also accounts for why the
majority of individuals persecuted were women. A religious spark was ignited during the Protestant
Reformationas people became more religiously devoted and wanted to eliminate threats to their
faith, such as witches. Many strange occurrences such as disease or even non harmful events that
were simply unexplainable led people to believe witches as the causes. Some people may have not
even believed another person to be a witch but may have just wanted wealth and that person s
possessions and declared them a witch for that reason. All these factors contributed to the period
now known as the witch craze, which resulted in the torture and death of many people.
One of the main factors in the persecution of witches comes from the men of the time s
misogynistic attitudes. During this time, women were beginning to take more prominent roles in
society, like the notable humanist Christine de Pizan or The First Lady of the Renaissance,

achieve a better insight about the topic, highlighting Apu and Aparna s relationship during their
marriage. Before Delhi became the capital of India during the British Raj, Calcutta was the first one

Also, he does not show any instance in raising a family. Notwithstanding this aspect, Apu accepted
to marry Aparna out of sympathy. Despite the economic problems, they were happily married
during marital life in which there was no such a thing as female submissiveness or oppression,
unlike other conventional marriages. In terms of presentism, Apu and Aparna s attitudes as
spouses would not be atypical nowadays but would be opposed to the mentality of the fifties
regarding the role of the man and woman. Another example of presentism is Apu s reaction when
Aparna dies. He cried, showing his sensitivity and emotions, which is associated with femininity.
Afterwards, he became an emasculated man who is not capable of showing love to his son. In the
50s, the reaction would be totally different to get a new wife as Apu s neighbor

My Informative Speech On Parcheesi
For any presentation, keeping the audience engaged is the number one priority. Over the course of
the semester we learned various techniques to engage with the audience and to keep them focused.
For example, asking the audience questions either during or after your presentation can be a good
way to make the audiencefeel involved. Asking for volunteers is another way to make your
audience feel important. These were some techniques that I liked to use during my presentations.
I used both of these techniques specifically during my informative speech about Parcheesi. One
reason that I think the audience was the most engaged during my informative speech is because
it was a new topic for most of them. A lot of people have not heard of Parcheesi and I think the
introduction of a new topic helped keep the audience engaged. When I would around while giving
my informative speech I saw a lot of active listeners . The textbook defines active listening as

Your first job in the introduction is to get the attention and interest of the audience. You can do
this by posing a question, telling a story, making a startling statement, or opening with a
quotation. The purpose of all these methods is to create a dramatic, colorful opening that will
make your audience want to hear more (Lucas 65). In my introduction for my informative
speech I used a lot of the techniques that the book discusses. For example I asked questions, like
How many of you like to play board games and Have any of you ever played Parcheesi? (Sullivan
1). Another technique that I used in my introduction was telling a story. In my introduction I said,
Every night before I go back to school my grandma comes over and my mom, brother, grandma,
and I eat spaghetti and then play a game of Parcheesi (Sullivan 1). I also used a quote in my

Secure Training Process
I m fortunate enough to have my internship, Giant Steps, be affiliated with my current place of
employment, Care Point Health, Christ Hospital. All employees under the CarePoint Health
umbrella have to go through annual training called Secure Training . Secure Training is a de

the job is an all day educational class. After your initial all day training, the individual goes yearly

Since I ve been at Giant Steps, there have not been any real altercations, with the exception of
maybe one or two fights between the clients. Maybe that s why they have never thought to have
security or maybe it has to do with the fact that we are not in a hospital. Giant Steps is a rented
space and we use St. Joseph s Rectory.
Another safety issues that was just resolved was leaving the trash can in front of the door once the
Administrative Assistant left for the day. The staff did this because on the second floor we cannot
hear the doorbell when it rings. Once the Administrative Assistant leaves for the day, there is no
one there to open the door. It s dangerous to have the trash can keep the door open. Anyone can
walk through those doors. I sometimes go downstairs after the Administrative Assistant leaves on
Tuesday s and Thursday s so that I can open the door for the clients.
When it comes to the clients, I don t have any fears for my safety. I trust that if anything should
happen, I can resort back to my training from secure training and I know that staff will be there
as well. My main concern, as I had previously discussed, was being left alone and having to walk
by myself to my car at night. I know that Hoboken is a quiet place, for the most part, but still cannot
take that for granted because anything can

Similarities Between Jewish And Prewar Germany
Jews and Prewar Germany During the early 1930s, at the time of the Nazi rise to power,
Germany was undergoing great economic hardships due to World War I. When Hitler came to
power, he used Jews as a scapegoat, blaming them for Germany s economic problems. During that
time, Jews were very successful in business, and well represented in the professions. It is assumed
that these reasons were why Hitler blamed them for the economic problems. Despite all
assumptions, it is obvious that treatment of the Jewsworsened after his rise to power. One of the
first acts against Jews occurred on April 1, 1933, it was an organized boycott of Jewish
businesses. Nationwide, Storm Troopers (SA) stood menacingly outside of Jewish owned
businesses. The Star of David was painted on the doors and windows of said businesses with
slogans such as Don t buy from Jews and The Jews are our misfortune . The boycott itself wasn t
very successful, Germans still bought from those stores. However, the second attempt was more
successful. The Night of Broken Glass took place on November 9, 1938. In just two days, over
seven thousand Jewish businesses were burned down in flames, with fire brigades, or firemen
standing by doing nothing. This event triggered more curfews and made life harder for the Jews of

Ethical Relativism
For an argument to be valid the structure of the argument must be good. A valid argument is not
focused on the content, but more so the structure of the argument. The premises are supporting
statement in an argument. Premises could be false and the argument would still hold validity just
because of its structure. When an argumentis being judged on validity, to be valid the argument has
to have a particular form that guarantees if the premises are true the conclusion is absolutely true.
The reason we look at the structure and not the content is because the argument is deductive.
Meaning, it is supposed to give logically conclusive support to its conclusion. Premise one in the

A sound argument is a valid argument plus actually true premises. For the argument to be sound the
conclusion has to be true. The conclusion of this argument is saying that ethical relativism is true.
Ethical relativism is a theory that relative to the norms of one s culture is morality. Based on the
argument discussed above with the different premises this argument is a sound argument. The
premises appear to be true describing that the moral behavior from one society to another differs,
but if societies shared the same rules and principles the moral behavior would be relatively the
same. Although the second premise counter acts ethical relativism and is true, but it holds no
ground because societies do not share moral behaviors. It is also explains in the third premise that
societies do not share the same morals and behaviors, and since they do not ethical relativism is
true. Being as the argument was a valid argument and the premises were true, the argument was
sound. Although the argument was sound, if premise two had a counterexample such as, the
moral behavior in different societies would be mostly the same if, societies shared cultural values
and beliefs. Assuming the other premises did not change this argument would still be valid. The
reason is because yes, premise two raises some questions and is probably true. For example,
anytime you re around certain things for a long period you are going to adapt to them. But the
conclusion of the argument is stating ethical relativism is true. The factor in this argument that still
makes it sound is premise three. Societies do not share moral rules and principles that is why so
many different cultures have developed because everyone is creating their own. The fact societies
do not share their principles determines ethical relativism being truthful in that morality is relative
to the norms of

most lethal and Type 3 neurological symptoms are need of the most support. Type 1 GD, can be

This causes glucosylceramide to accumulate in the body. Scientist have been trying to figure out a
way to combat this. Eliglustat is that answer. Glycosphingolipid synthesis and degradation relies
on glucosylceramide for its base cerebroside to make more complex glycosphingolipid. The
glycosphingolipid pathway starts with ceramide and UDP glucose making glucosylceramide via
glucosylceramide synthase which will then be used to make Ceramide via ОІ glucocerebrosidase
and eventually Ganglioside GM2 and GM1. Now on a histology level glucosylceramide
accumulate in lysosomal compartment of macrophages which gives rise to foam cells or Gaucher
cells. Eliglustat blocks glucosylceramide synthase cause a decrease in level of all
glucosylaceramide based glycospholipids (J. A. Shayman, 2010). Patients taking Eliglustat can
experience fatigue, head ache, back pain, nausea, diarrhea, pain in extremities and upper
abdominal pain. These conditions were said to be the most common for people taking the drug.
Other symptoms that were reported were dizziness, gastroesophageal reflux disease, palpitations,

In some cases, patients develop infections due to poor conditions at a hospital and healthcare
facility, or due to hospital staff not following proper standard procedures, such as improper hand
washing before and after patient care, lack of proper clinical wound cleaning and perineal care.
Proper sanitation and other proper healthcare hygiene procedures omitted during patient care. Some
patients also acquire NI by interacting with other patients , which may result from sharing of
personal belongings, and body contact. Others may encounter bacteria, fungi, parasites, or viruses
in their hospital environment (Graham, 2016). A research on Human metapneumovirus (hMPV)
recently discovered virus and a member of the subfamily Pneumovirinae, as the major cause of
hospitalization of infants suffering from respiratory tract infection (French et al., 2016). It can
manifest as flu like symptoms, and later dispose into shortness of breath with nasal congestions. It s
likely to be transmitted via direct contact and droplet.
Symptoms of NI
Symptoms of NI vary by type. They include inflammation, discharge, fever, and abscesses. Patients
may experience pain and irritation at the infection site, and many experience visible symptoms.
Many forms of NI can be diagnosed through sight alone. Pus, inflammation, and rashes may all be
indications of infection. Blood and urine culture tests (Diekema et al., 2003) can be used to

England s Influence On Normandy
Although England s monarchy has played a prominent role throughout its history, its very first
monarch was actually a conqueror from another land. King William began his journey in
Normandy, a region that is current day France. Sometime during the year of 1028, he was born in
Falaise, France to Arlette (also known as Herleva), a tanner s daughter, and Robert I, the Duke of
Normandy. As an illegitimate son of his father, he was known as William the Bastard among his
enemies and critics. He eventually rose to power through his conquest of England, and all
throughout history his descendants held the English throne. William the Conquerormarried Matilda
of Flanders as an assurance of an alliance, and they had 4 sons, one of which died at an early age.

He was also able to persuade the Pope to back him, because the Pope was outraged that Harold
had sworn on his precious holy relics and didn t keep his word. With the power of holy influence
and 700 ships, William set sail towards England to claim back what was rightfully his. Fortunately
for the enraged Duke, England was already occupied fighting Tostig and another Harold, a
Norwegian duke, who wanted the throne as well. Nevertheless, King Harold was able to meet
William s troops in a final battle which would eventually be known as the Battle of Hastings. In
September 1066, the Normans (France) and the Anglo Saxons (England) finally met and charged
into battle. Due to the inefficiency of warfare during this era, none of the soldiers could see their
leaders, who were feared dead on multiple occasions. Duke William finally turned the tide of
battle by yelling out and rallying his troops, and the battle was won when King Harold was shot in
the eye. At long last, William the Conqueror had gotten his crown, and was now the ruler of

Nature Is A Product Of The Earth
Coastlines have always been something of interest throughout human history. We have built homes,
parks and even cities along them, but at what cost? Coastlines are not found in nature; they are
products of human initiative... (Gillis 99). This quote said by John R. Gillis brings up a very
important discussion. Are coastlines found in nature or have they been built into something we as
humans wanted them to be? When the quote is first read, it may be easy to say of course coastlines
exist in nature because they are nature. Although, when looking at it deeper one must ask what is
the definition of nature. Nature is defined as the physical world collectively, including plants,
animals, the landscape, and other features and products of the... Show more content on

Without those piles and bulkheads those houses would not be able to be there. Which is an
example of changing nature to support the want we have to live on the coast. This was seen also in
San Francisco in the mid 1800 s.
The gold rush hit San Francisco in 1849 and in two years the town of 1,000 people turned into a
large coastal city of 25,000 people. The land behind the bay was mountains and was not a good fit
for expanding the city so they built near the shore. As the city grew throughout the years a need for
more land increased. They began to build into the bay and actual changed the outline of the
coast entirely. They used the steam paddy to fill in large areas of the San Francisco s coast. As
they began to make land and build on it numerous problems began to be discovered. Besides
physically changing the entire shoreline of San Francisco, it created man traps that were
uneven fillings of land that would sink when people stepped on them, it also created seismic
hazards, which was seen by the 1906 Earthquake, and fire hazards, which was also seen by the
Great Fire of 1851 (Dyl Lecture). This is a perfect example of a coast being a product of human
initiative. As the need for land increased along the coast we as people had no problem changing the
coast. J.D. Stillman was quoted in the Overland Monthly in 1868 saying Men, in their

Marius Pontmercy s Rebellion Against The French Government
Marius Pontmercy should not be convicted for his participation in the rebellion against the
French government because it was not a direct assault on the government. First, the friends of
Marius were very involved in the uprising and Marius felt an obligation to support his friends in
their cause since they had been so supportive of him. Second, Marius father, Georges Pontmercy,
was a soldier in Napoleon s army. He was dedicated to a cause he believed in and because Marius
had a great respect for his father, he probably wanted to honor his legacy by following that
example determination. Finally, the night of the uprising was the night Maris learned of Jean

Individualism In This Side Of Paradise
The novel, This Side of Paradise, was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald s. It was his first novel. It

Why Homework Is Homework
There are many students who realize that it is important to get good grades. But those students
are also stressed, exhausted, and frustrated. How would you feel if you had to study for more
than three hours a day just to earn a good grade? If you re a student, you probably fall into the
category of those who do not have time to do things other than school. You may also feel as though
homeworkdoesn t actually do anything. Most students get so busy with activities outside of
school and just simply do not have time to do homework or study for a test for 5 hours. So ask
yourself, is all of this necessary? Or can all of this unnecessary stress be avoided?
Of course, nobody truly knows if homework is actually effective or not. It may be stressing
student out for no good reason. Many students said they often do homework they see as pointless
or mindless in order to keep their grades up. Homework should have a purpose and a benefit. It
should be designed to actually teach kids instead of stress them out. It would be one thing to have
as much homework that is assigned if students actually learned or benefited from it, but it doesn t
do anything besides worry them.
In addition, most kids do not have hardly any time to do anything other than school related things.

With the sixth season upon us, I was expecting something exciting and emotional but was a bit
disappointed. I wanted an episode that started right where we left off at the end of the fifth season.

The infected are trapped by strategically placed trucks that are blocking their path. Only one at a
time would be able to squeeze through, not enough to create an actual threat. Rick is creating a
plan to excavate the walkers when one truck falls off the ledge, leaving an open path for the
walkers to travel.
I guess this discovery determines how Alexandria has stayed in tact for so long. But the bigger
problem is, how are they going to get rid of these walkers so they don t become a larger threat.
This is where the episode kind of lost me...Ricks plan is to basically lead the infected 20 miles
away. Doesn t this seem a bit ridiculous? Why couldn t they set them on fire? Or at least come up
with a different plan. I find it hard to believe they couldn t think of something other than this
complicated and insane idea to lead infected away with noise and using Daryl as bait. I understand
that it makes things interesting but it just seemed like such a stretch to me.
Another grievence I had with this episode is the character, Carter. We meet him and he is
obviously very apprehensive towards Rick. He even tries to create a plan to kill Rick before he
gets anyone killed. Eugene overhears this plan and almost gets shot but Rick comes into the house
just in time and threatens

  • 2. Greek Religion And Public Life In Ancient Greece The Greek people had many things they were proud of for evolving as their era began to pick up steam. The things they were well known for were their religious beliefs and their philosophies. Though both were pivotal for the Greek people, these two areas were very different. Greek Religion To the Greeks, religion, was a major part of their private and public life every day. Greek religion was big on public rituals, community festivals, showed great community pride, and was big on their heritage. Their religion was more public than private. Their religion was divided up into two categories. The Olympian deities whom they felt dwelled in the skies or mountaintops. Olympian religion felt that the deities intercede in daily activities, and that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The And Its Effects On The Perception Of The External... After washing away all prior beliefs of the external world about us, Descartes builds a system of doubt that forces readers to question if they truly know anything about the external world around us. His factors building this doubt include the possibility of madness, sensory deception, chance or the continuous chain of events leading to our present state, omnipotent beings, or the idea that we may be dreaming. Descartes claims that there is no way to indubitably know the truthof our external environment, however it is indubitable that there is an internal being or self. Whether it is based on a personal experience or someone else s, one can agree that all of the factors given could result in skewed knowledge. Aristotle once said that, our senses can be trusted but they can be easily fooled. Because our senses can be so easily deceived, trustworthiness is perhaps not the best trait to award it with. The eyes and mindcan always play tricks on you. One often comes by optical illusions in which one line looks longer than another when they are both the same size, or circles appear to be spinning when they are actually still, or numerous other kinds of these tests. Our eyes trick us constantly into believing things to be happening when they are not. For example, young kids claim to see monsters or ghosts in their rooms at night because their eyes and mind trick them into seeing these creatures. Once on a ghost hunting TV show, one of the hosts addressed a common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Progressive Education Essay John Keating, a student at Welton Academy inspired his fellow classmates, to meet in caves and read challenging poetry of the past, not with flashcards, but with these words, Now, my class, you will learn to think for yourselves again. You will learn to savor words and language. No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world. Typically, students do not hear enough of this type of passion in a traditional classroom. However, a progressive classroom, be it a cave or college can inspire students to memorize facts, not because they have to, but rather because they want to for the betterment of humanity. Society desperately needs students educated in a progressive style because America needs students who realize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educational philosopher, Marie Montessori was a strong advocate for such learning, particularly for children under age three who have a strong interest in learning through the use of movement and verbal play (So what s Montessori and Piaget?). John Dewey, another educational philosopher believed Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself. (Inc.) He felt that learning took place only when students had internalized what they had gained through experience and practiced it in their own lives. In a progressive classroom, the teacher designs experiences for students with the idea that through experience, students build knowledge and skills. A society of individuals conforming to studying flashcards may be good, but a society of literate individuals consciously aware of why and how the facts on the flashcards and in mass media can solve new problems is better. A progressive classroom looks different, and a progressive teacher inspires unique thinking in individual students differently, as well. Instead of being strict with a set curriculum and specific subject to cover, teachers find their students present interests, abilities, and needs. Developing individualized education plans based on student interests and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Charlemagne s Disappearance After the fall of Rome, havoc descended upon Europe as it fell into a dark age of chaos and destruction. Everything that the Romans had ever aspired to build was put into disfunction. As the people were free from a governing rule, the long period of peace was over. The previous Roman citizens were left with a new world that they had not experienced before one without a job to works in, a job to feed their families. They no longer had anyone to pay taxes to. As a result, all of the other benefits of the kingdom such as the aqueducts and the roads, were no longer being repaired. Daily life was a struggle, as barbarians ruled the streets, making homes and camps out of great monuments such as the Coliseum and the Circus Maximus. However, around... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start, Charlemagne was respected by his people because he gave people what they needed: a better way to live life. He provided free education for all of the people in his kingdom, by creating new schools to educate his people to have a better life. As a result, Charlemagne became even more likable, with the people enjoying a chance to have a better education as well as a better view point of a life less barbaric. Next, Charlemagne tried to be more than a ruler and more a part of the community. One of the reasons why Charlemagne is so famous is because he tried to educate himself. He was described by Einhard as a great teacher, as he was capable in multiple languages, along with being taught by some great teachers. Rather that being a great ruler by educating his people, he became an even greater ruler by educating himself. By doing this, his people had even more faith in the fact that he was going to rule properly, that every decision that he made was well thought out. Born into a period where education was scarce if existent, this was an astonishing act. Lastly, Charlemagne was respected by his people because of his work with public structures. This King, who showed himself so great in extending his empire and subduing foreign nations, and was constantly occupied with plans to that end, undertook also very many works calculated to adorn and benefit his kingdom... (Einhard). Some of these additions included a half mile long bridge, and a basilica. Whenever Charlemagne would see something is disrepair, he would consult priests to go get it fixed. • 7. The Future Of Zoos During The World Of Activists Attacks The Future of Zoos In the Midst of Activists Attacks In an increasingly threatening environmental crisis, zoos are participating in the conservation of species. The biodiversity of the animal and plant worlds is being deeply affected, on the one hand by the disruption of ecosystems caused mainly by climate change and deforestation, and on the other hand, by the globalization of trade, travel, transport, and tourism. These two factors are increasingly reducing animals habitats and endangering many species (Keulartz 336). Even in the face of the environmental serial destruction, animal protectionist and wildlife conservationist activists criticize zoo s efforts to protect the animals they house. The ways zoos progresses in the future to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Doctor Chris Parsons, former Director of the Society for Conservation Biology, explains animal welfare groups accept the use of animals for some human interests like clothing, food, recreational need, or scientific experiments, as long as the animal is free of stress and pain . The influential groups, the Humane Society and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, recognize on their website some zoos are beneficial to animals supporting conservation programs, participating in the preservation and restoration of endangered species, and promoting education about the importance of wildlife. However, this statement holds under certain conditions. First, the Humane Society recommends zoos to be organized around a core mission that educates the public about the needs of the animals and the threats they face . Also, zoos should provide animals with humane care and adapted to their physical, social and psychological needs. Finally, ASPCA indicates, zoos should participate in tightly controlled breeding programs and their display should stress the themes of endangered species, wild habitat destruction and reduced biodiversity . Unfortunately, many zoos are not falling under this description, but they can act on several factors in the intent to work towards the animal welfare activists demands. • 8. Christian Middle Ages Architecture Analysis THE proof of the endowment of a true artist is always to be found in the fact that his work of art expresses the general will of a period. Perhaps that is most clearly shown in architecture.... The religious mystical world of the Christian Middle Ages, turning inwards upon itself, found forms of expression which were possible only for that world for that world alone could they be of service. A Gothic stadium is as unthinkable as a Romanesque railway station or a Byzantine market hall. The way in which the artist of the Middle Ages, of the beginnings of the modern world, found the artistic solution for the buildings which he was commissioned to create is in the highest degree striking and admirable. That way, however, is no evidence that the conception of the content of life held by the folk of his day was in itself either absolutely right or absolutely wrong; it is evidence only that works of art have rightly mirrored the inner mind of a past age. It is therefore quite comprehensible that insofar as the attempt is made to carry on the life of that past age, those who search for solutions of artistic problems can still seek and find there... Logical Fallacies Examples (TS) There are many examples of logical fallacies in this year s presidential campaign, but one of the main ones is Ad hominem or Name Calling, which can be seen in many instances in presidential debates, particularly by Donald Trump, and other times when one candidate is asked to speak about the other. Understanding these fallacies and being able to spot them will help you find whom would be the superior candidate. (PS)Name Calling is shown when Donald Trump repeatedly insulted Hillary Clinton s character and has also made several sexist remarks, which shows that Donald Trump is making a weak argument and trying to back it up by insulting the competition. • 10. Pygmalion Vs Makeover Essay Pygmalion Vs. The Makeover Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, is a play written in 1912 based off of the Ancient Greek myth, Pygmalion. The play is about a girl named Eliza who is transformed from a nearly homeless, ill mannered girl to a beautiful lady by two well off men; this is similar to the Pygmalion myth of a man creating his ideal woman out of ivory. The Makeover is a movie intended to re make George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion. Although The Makeover does an outstanding job at depicting the underlying themes and holding similar to the plotline of Pygmalion, there are still several differences between the two pieces of work. Although the main events of both plotlines are identical, the movie sways from the play on several accounts. In Pygmalion, the protagonist being made over is a girl and her transformers are two well off men; while in The Makeover the protagonist being made over is a man and his transformers are two well off women. In fact, some clergies have convictions about accepting any pay for work do in the church! It seems crazy: the idea of working a second job after hours of labor is not for the faint of heart, but for those who are convinced it is what God has called them to do, it becomes a passionate endeavor. Coupled with certain convictions and preferences over pay, a clergy might also in effect have to crop out some of the more luxurious articles of first world life or maybe first world life in total (as in the instance of many 3rd world missionaries), regarding this, sacrifices are made by all those who follow this career path. Analysis Of A Raisin In The Sun A Raisin in the Sun written by Lorraine Hansberry tells the story of a lower class African American family s struggle to gain middle class acceptance when Mama, the sixty year old mother, receives a $10,000 insurance check from the death of her husband. The drama primarily focuses on how the ten thousand dollars should be spent. Walter Lee Younger, the son, so desperate to better provide for his family, wants to invest all the money into a liquor store with two of his friends. Mama objects and instead decides to use part of the check as a down payment on a house in a white neighborhood. Conflicts with Walter escalate. In an attempt to resolve things with her son, Mama entrusts Walter with the rest of the money. He immediately invests it, without the consent of Mama, in his liquor store idea, with the belief he will quadruple his investment. However, one of Walter s business partners runs off with the money. • 16. The Failure of Integration Essay The Failure of Integration After four decades of school integration America has given up, and the question is: quot; Why? quot;. I believe the answer is because absolutely nothing worked! Bussing was a hassle, most magnet schools were set up for false reasons, and everything was very costly. With everything they tried there were still no significant changes in the test scores of the minority students. So now here we are in the late 21st century and it can all be summed up with what Chris Hansen of the American Civil Liberties Union in New York City believes the courts are saying, quot;We still agree with the goal of school desegregation, but it s too hard, and we re tired of it, and we give up. quot; ... Peter Schmidt opinion is that quot;after seeing some districts labyrinthine busing maps, that mandating the integration of classrooms has cost a good number of students any chance of a fair and quality education. quot; Another reason why plans for integration stopped was that many believed they were morally wrong. Mr. Symington, a Republican, said, quot; The education of Arizona s children should not be held prisoner by a racial quota system. quot; While Edward Newsome feels it s just patronizing to blacks, quot;that the courts are so willing to assume that anything that is predominately black must be inferior. quot; There were also problems with magnet school programs. Most were designed to attract white students to predominately black schools and vice versa. The communities were using magnet schools to lure whites away from private schools. Along with being unjust the magnet school plan also did not work. In 1985 one district was 73.6% minority, 11 years later the district is now 75.9% minority. Missouri v. These stories shed light on war but left the heart break of mothers and death of millions of soldiers in the dark. During World War 1 (WW1) about 42 million men in the Allied countries heeded the call of their country to show their patriotism and courage. After the long, harsh war the death of 5 million soldiers left families around the world without a son. The Mother is the complete opposite, imparting the horrible realities of war, creating a very melancholy and sombre tone. The poem starts with similar word choices as The Soldier but written in the perspective of the mother. The mother tells his son that when he dies he will be in a place of quietness and free from the loss and bloodshed . This reinforces the fact that the battlefield was full of horrors and death. The poem then moves onto how men may rest themselves and dream of nought explaining that the soldiers do not have to fear for their lives after their death. This illustrates how they feared for their lives and had negative connotations. Through the use of poetic devices such as metonymy and alliteration, poets are able to emphasise key ideas. Ring Contraction Of A Ring RING CONTRACTION All the carbons of a ring are equivalent (a ring has no ends like an open chain compound does),1 ring compounds can be classified as either monocyclic or polycyclic compounds. As the word contraction means shrinking, ring contraction can be defined as the process of shrinking larger ring compounds which are less strained into a more strained smaller ring structures. Instead of making small strained ring by chemical reaction which is very strenuous to do, ring contraction is a process of easing the stress of forming smaller strained ring on their own. A ring contraction reaction is a type of organic reaction in which usually a hydrocarbon ring is reduced in size.2 Ring contraction reactions are an important method to increase molecular complexity in a single step, because, in many cases, the reorganization of the bonds occurs with a high level of selectivity, affording products not easily accessible by other synthetic approaches.2. and 3. Chained to the kitchen sink, always cleaning and cooking. An old stereotype. In the advertisement for Shake `n Vac a woman is doing the vacuuming and dancing around shaking Shake `n Vac on the floor. An Theoretical School District, School, And A Classroom In this paper I am going to present an theoretical school district, school, and a classroom as examples of the ideal that our educational system should strive to achieve. The philosophy my schools will be based on is one of equality. Every single child will have an opportunity to receive the best possible education. However, we will never lower our standards for the sake of equality. Each child will be pushed to his or her personal best, not an average standard. Before talking about what goes on inside the schools, I d like to mention the district itself. There will be no alternative school choices, bussing, or deliberate desegregation practices. Each school will be remarkably similar to the others in the district so that every child may receive a similar education regardless of the neighborhood they live in. When students are separated to different schools for any reason (academic talent, wealth, interests, race, gender) they fail to interact with different types of people that they will undoubtedly encounter in the real adult world. In addition, I feel that is very important for children from the same neighborhood to attend the same school in order to increase a sense of community. Finally, as the Case Study of Boulder Valley points out, school choice takes valuable resources away from teaching and places them in school competition (Howe 144). • 41. Witches And The Witch Trials In Europe from the late fifteenth to early seventeenth centuries many people, both men and women, were persecuted as witches. The reasons for the persecution of individuals as witches included gender discrimination, religious fanaticism, an explanation for the otherwise unexplainable events that took place, and even as a way for secular officials to gain more wealth. Misogyny being a cause to the witch trials may have resulted from the new roles of women in society conflicting with the traditional views of women as sinful, and also accounts for why the majority of individuals persecuted were women. A religious spark was ignited during the Protestant Reformationas people became more religiously devoted and wanted to eliminate threats to their faith, such as witches. Many strange occurrences such as disease or even non harmful events that were simply unexplainable led people to believe witches as the causes. Some people may have not even believed another person to be a witch but may have just wanted wealth and that person s possessions and declared them a witch for that reason. All these factors contributed to the period now known as the witch craze, which resulted in the torture and death of many people. Similarities Between Jewish And Prewar Germany Jews and Prewar Germany During the early 1930s, at the time of the Nazi rise to power, Germany was undergoing great economic hardships due to World War I. It is assumed that these reasons were why Hitler blamed them for the economic problems. Despite all assumptions, it is obvious that treatment of the Jewsworsened after his rise to power. One of the first acts against Jews occurred on April 1, 1933, it was an organized boycott of Jewish businesses. Nationwide, Storm Troopers (SA) stood menacingly outside of Jewish owned businesses. When an argumentis being judged on validity, to be valid the argument has to have a particular form that guarantees if the premises are true the conclusion is absolutely true. For the argument to be sound the conclusion has to be true. The conclusion of this argument is saying that ethical relativism is true. Ethical relativism is a theory that relative to the norms of one s culture is morality. Based on the argument discussed above with the different premises this argument is a sound argument. The premises appear to be true describing that the moral behavior from one society to another differs, but if societies shared the same rules and principles the moral behavior would be relatively the same. Although the second premise counter acts ethical relativism and is true, but it holds no ground because societies do not share moral behaviors. It is also explains in the third premise that societies do not share the same morals and behaviors, and since they do not ethical relativism is true. Being as the argument was a valid argument and the premises were true, the argument was sound. Although the argument was sound, if premise two had a counterexample such as, the moral behavior in different societies would be mostly the same if, societies shared cultural values and beliefs. Assuming the other premises did not change this argument would still be valid. The reason is because yes, premise two raises some questions and is probably true. For example, anytime you re around certain things for a long period you are going to adapt to them. But the conclusion of the argument is stating ethical relativism is true. The factor in this argument that still makes it sound is premise three. • 54. Why Homework Is Homework There are many students who realize that it is important to get good grades. But those students are also stressed, exhausted, and frustrated. How would you feel if you had to study for more than three hours a day just to earn a good grade? If you re a student, you probably fall into the category of those who do not have time to do things other than school. You may also feel as though homeworkdoesn t actually do anything. Most students get so busy with activities outside of school and just simply do not have time to do homework or study for a test for 5 hours. So ask yourself, is all of this necessary? Or can all of this unnecessary stress be avoided? Of course, nobody truly knows if homework is actually effective or not. It may be stressing student out for no good reason. Many students said they often do homework they see as pointless or mindless in order to keep their grades up. Homework should have a purpose and a benefit. It should be designed to actually teach kids instead of stress them out. It would be one thing to have as much homework that is assigned if students actually learned or benefited from it, but it doesn t do anything besides worry them. In addition, most kids do not have hardly any time to do anything other than school related things. All because society tells them that they should keep up their ... • 55. Walking Dead Recaps Finally! The Walking Dead has returned and so have my recaps. I know most of my blog lately has been recaps and I m really sorry for that! I have been feeling unmotivated lately when it comes to photographing things and writing but I m trying to work on some things so that I can create more varying content for you all. With the sixth season upon us, I was expecting something exciting and emotional but was a bit disappointed. I wanted an episode that started right where we left off at the end of the fifth season. I know they showed flashbacks, which was cool, but I would have preferred an episode without flashbacks and just seeing how the community adapted after the meeting and the demise of Reg and Pete and the return of our favorite zen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The infected are trapped by strategically placed trucks that are blocking their path. Only one at a time would be able to squeeze through, not enough to create an actual threat. Rick is creating a plan to excavate the walkers when one truck falls off the ledge, leaving an open path for the walkers to travel. I guess this discovery determines how Alexandria has stayed in tact for so long. But the bigger problem is, how are they going to get rid of these walkers so they don t become a larger threat. This is where the episode kind of lost me...Ricks plan is to basically lead the infected 20 miles away. Doesn t this seem a bit ridiculous? Why couldn t they set them on fire? Or at least come up with a different plan. I find it hard to believe they couldn t think of something other than this complicated and insane idea to lead infected away with noise and using Daryl as bait. I understand that it makes things interesting but it just seemed like such a stretch to me. Another grievence I had with this episode is the character, Carter. We meet him and he is obviously very apprehensive towards Rick. He even tries to create a plan to kill Rick before he gets anyone killed. Eugene overhears this plan and almost gets shot but Rick comes into the house just in time and threatens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
