2. The Desert Is No Place For A Man And Cormac Mccarthy
The desert is no place for a man and Cormac McCarthy makes that perfectly clear from the onset of
Blood Meridian. At first, it s hard to tell which will be more desolate and brutal: the environment or
the men that traverse it. However, McCarthy initially seems to establish that unbridled nature will
triumph over man every time regardless of the circumstance. If natureis God, then man is hopeless
to stand against it. Yet McCarthy makes an important distinction between nature as it exists in
the wild and nature that has been tamed by man. Although a lot of his depiction of nature comes
from the landscape, he uses animals in a telling way to prove a larger point: nature is only so
powerful until it is conquered by men. It is an obvious approach to look at the ways in which the
landscape and the desert environment domineer over the gang of men throughout the novel. Less
obvious, and at the same time, painfully overt, is the role that wild animals take within the
framework of the story. The Judge is quoted as saying that God speaks in stones and trees, the
bones of things (116) and the overall understanding of this message is that god resides in nature;
the force of nature is the force of god.
This force is seen clearly the first time someone in the band is attacked by a bear. The first
compelling part in this scene is the way the men s horses react to the bear. One horse was
described as falling backward and [the Delaware] was trying to turn it, beating it about the head

3. Lloyd George Contribution
David Lloyd George was a British prime minister during World War I. During this time period,
countries involved in the war went through rough times. This essay will discuss George s early life,
education, his political life, highlights of his ministership during the war, and his life after his
ministership and the war.
On Saturday the 17th day of January, in the year of our Lord, 1863, in Chorlton on Medlock,
Manchester, David Lloyd George was born to William George and Elizabeth Lloyd. Unfortunately,
when Lloyd George was only one, his dad died of pneumonia, forcing his family to move to his
uncle s house. George s uncle, Richard Lloyd, was both a shoemaker and a minister who served
at local churches. Along with being a shoemaker and a minister, Richard Lloyd was also a strong
liberal who influenced George in his political life and his later life. Shortly after moving, George
went to Llanystumdwy National School for educational purposes. After going to Llanystumdwy
Nation School for a few years, he and his family decided that tutors would have more of an
educational influence on him.
In 1884, Lloyd George became a solicitor; he started his practice in 1885. It was also this year he
became politically active; he had campaigned as a Liberal in the 1885 election. On January 24,
1888, David Lloyd George married Margaret Owen. She was from a family of farmers. Lloyd
George also founded a newspaper, the Ugdorn Rhyddid, and won the Llanfrothen burial case. In
1889, he joined the

4. The Influence of Confucianism on Chinese Culture Essays
The Influence of Confucian Culture on Chinese Culture
Introduction
Confucian culture, also known as Confucianism, was founded by Confucius during the Spring and
Autumn Period, which was developed gradually after the Han Dynasty with benevolence as the
core. Since the Han Dynasty, Confucianism was the official ideology and the basis of mainstream
ideology in the vast majority of historical periods of China, and it also influenced many southeast
Asian countries in history. After a variety of shocks, Confucianismwas still the core values of China
s social public, and represented the Chinese culture and national tradition in the world (Littlejohn,
2010). In the contemporary society, the Confucian culture in China increasingly spread, at the ...

Confucianism is used by rulers for over two thousand years, which plays an important role in
maintaining the traditional social stability and peace.
However, the Confucian culture is exclusive to the contemporary political culture. In contemporary
China, although socialist political culture has been widely spread and the actually implemented
with the aid of the power of the state apparatus, people are still unable to completely get rid of the
influence and control of traditional Confucian culture. In Confucian culture, the unity political view
had the most influence, and the divine right of authority and the benevolence, righteousness,
propriety, wisdom, and faith, combined with the Chinese characteristic of the small peasant
consciousness, made socialist political system also exist some traces of traditional political culture
inevitably, and a large amount of the residual traditional culture values affect the process of political
development in a variety of ways (Bell, 2010). Today as you can see, the development of market
economy makes profound changes taken place in people s social interest structure. Corresponding
to it, while people s political consciousness is fundamentally unified under the banner of socialism
and patriotism, but the concrete political tendencies such as political attitude, emotion and policy
orientation appear differentiation, which

5. German History Essay
Most would agree that it is valuable to acknowledge history, whether it be through documentation,
education, or architectural preservation. However, history can be complex and ugly, stained by war,
genocide, and destruction. Therein lies a philosophical controversy: should these historical stains be
acknowledged or buried? What role do these ugly histories have in the development of a society?
Within the last century, no nation has been forced to confront these questions on the same scale
that Germanyhas (Levinger 118). With a twentieth century historymarked by hatred and the abuse
of power, National Socialism and Soviet communism, Germany s dark history lies only decades in
the past. For this reason, these histories remain freshly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In essence, historic preservation roots collective memory in a physical, tangible space. To many
scholars, memory in this context is not simply information that is recalled and retold (qtd. in Till
11). Instead, it is the act of continuously finding and contextualizing history by means of physical
space. Preservation of historical architecture is therefore unique, as it juxtaposes this history and
memory with the surrounding modern world. This highlights the importance of preserving history
through architecture, rather than museums, textbooks, and archives alone. By preserving the
physical remnants of a city s dark history, residents and passersby are forced to confront this
history nondeliberately. Moreover, according to Rudy J. Koshar, a preserved site must maintain
some present value or purpose. This is particularly relevant when considering the preservation of
buildings or sites which represent a history that is controversial or shameful, as it is important to
balance the shame evoked by this space with the benefits of its preservation.
The task of historic preservation is especially challenging in nations such as Germany which have
pasts that many are reluctant to remember. Germany is a particularly interesting case, as it is now
recognized as one of the most progressive, economically powerful, and politically liberal countries
in the world. Yet, no comparably modern country is

6. Wellcome Merger Case Study
In this individual discussion post, a review of the acquisition of Wellcome by Glaxo is explored
with focus on the complexities of Wellcome s business structure with Promedico. Additional focus
is placed on Ofra Sherman, manager of Wellcome Israel, as to her history with the company, team
interactions, reporting chain, and her reactions to the pending acquisition.
Glaxo Wellcome merger
Through a hostile bid for control, Glaxo announced in 1995 its plan to create the world s largest
pharmaceutical company with the acquisition of Wellcome. Wellcome was known as an antiviral
specialist and had ranked between tenth and twentieth worldwide in revenue (Jick Peiperl, 2011,
p. 348). The Wellcome employees felt secure in their position in this industry that had seen many
takeovers and mergers with assurances from Wellcome Trust, holder of 40 percent of the firm s
shares, that the holding was secure and would not be sold without advance communication.
Communication of the acquisition did not occur however and the bid came as a complete surprise
to the Wellcome employees who felt betrayed by the decision. Details of the acquisition should
have been originally shared by Wellcome Trust as promised, but now should be done by Glaxo as
the CEO, Sir Richard Sykes, assured Wellcome CEO, John Robb, Wellcome managementwould
play a role in the acquisition including job placement. This is an important aspect of any
acquisition as the lack of or ineffective communication strains the employer employee relationship
during such time and reduces personnel morale (Bansal, 2017, p. 421). Of particular importance to
both companies should be discussion and strategy as to how Glaxo would partner Wellcome Israel
with their existing Israel distributor, CTS.
Ofra Sherman s actions
Ms. Sherman was conflicted by the situation before her with the acquisition and had no answers
to the many questions leaving her with a sense of loss of control. As noted by Jick and Peiperl
(2011), most individual s negative reaction to change is related to control and a threat to their
influence, surroundings, pride, and accustomed way of working (p. 337). She had built a successful
team delivering results and was concerned with her team s

7. Comparing War Horse And A Raid Night
The novel War Horse by Michael Morpurgo published in Great Britain in 1982, and the short
stories A Raid Night by Henry Major Tomlinson (1922), The French Poodle by Wyndham Lewis
(1916) and Introduction to the Trenches by Richard Aldington (1929) have views of traditional
warrior values in a mechanized war. The authors use characters that possess at least one
traditional warrior value; the authors show us how these traditional values interact with the war.
The authors of the novels and short stories have a clear image of the traditional warrior values
and when these traditional values are present in the war only bad things happen because of the
conflict between warrior ideals of previous wars and mechanized warfare. Morpurgo shows us
how courage and bravery could not prevent the slaughter of the cavalry unit which charged
towards the German machine guns. In A Raid Night the speaker is disgusted by soldiers who kill
innocent civilians, these soldiers are loyal to a fault. Lewis has a protagonist who is brave but he
is also insane, the protagonist goes back to war and dies. Aldington makes fun of how of how the
soldiers were fighting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact he makes fun of the situation the soldiers are in. The soldiers rarely fight and instead
battle Mother Nature. Both sides were chiefly occupied in having pneumonia and trying to keep
warm (Aldington 97). This quote is effective because it gives us an insight into what the soldiers
actually do, which is battling disease. Hardly any fighting takes place and this shows the
irrelevance of traditional warrior values, both sides are not concerned with victory, honour or
glory. The reader can see that there is no honour in sitting around and surviving diseases. The
soldiers also dig holes, this activity is something more suited to a civilian, the promises of old
wars does not transfer into the WW1 and Lewis pounces on this by showing how the war is

9. Family In The Count Of Monte Cristo
In the film The Count of Monte Cristo, based on the novel of the same name by Alexander
Dumas, the idea of family serves as serious matter that is capable of dictating the allegiances and
motivations for the primary characters of the film. Furthermore, the idea of family is also depicted
in the film, as a liability for the characters and a vulnerability that others in the film exploit. Within
this examples can be seen in Villefort s action of imprisoning Edmond to protect his father, Albert s
change of heart when it is revealed that Edmond is his father, and the class discrimination that
Edmond encounters prior to his imprisonment. Edmond s imprisonment at the hands of Villefort is
a defining moment of the film and is one motivated entirely by Villefort s filial ties. During this
scene, Edmond shows evidence of a Bonapartist conspiracy through a letter given to him by
Napoleon Bonaparte. Initially, Villefort realizes Edmond s innocence, but upon inspecting the letter
it is revealed to him that the its contents incriminate his father. When this is revealed to him,
Villefort burns the letter and imprisons Edmond for life in order to silence him. Through this, it is
seen that the idea of family is capable of drastically altering the goals of characters, as Villefort
immediately realizes that he must destroy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

10. Otto Von Bismarck s Triple Alliance During World War I
The countries of Europe formed various alliances with each other in the years leading up to World
War I, eventually splitting the continent in two. Otto von Bismarck was instrumental in forming
many of these alliances in an attempt to keep the European Concert together. He was eventually
dismissed by Kaiser Wilhelm II, but would still accurately predict the beginning of the first
international war.
Initially, the Triple Alliance was a defensive pact between Germany, Austria Hungary, and Italy. It
guaranteed mutual support in event of an attack by another power. The Triple Entente, between
Britain, Russia, France, was a treaty in direct response to the Triple Alliance. It was a series of
mutual defense pacts that was to stay in place for the duration of the Triple Alliance. If a member
of the Triple Alliance attacked a member of the Triple Entente, the members of the Triple Entente
could attack the aggressor and the allies of the aggressor once they attacked. Going back a bit, Otto
von Bismarck s greatest diplomatic achievement, the Reinsurance Treaty, was a treaty between
Germany Russia guaranteeing they would remain neutral in a war unless Germany attacked France
or Russia attacked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Triple Alliance was initially a strength, offering protection to a weak Austro Hungarian Empire
and Italy. However, the fear it generated in countries such as Russia, Britain, France (future Triple
Entente) would lead to turmoil in Europe. The Reinsurance Treaty was also strong, preventing
conflict between the opposing sides that would go to fight the war to end all wars. When Kaiser
Wilhelm II let the Reinsurance Treaty expire, Germany now had two enemies, one to the east and
one to the west. The Triple Entente of 1907 was intended to increase security between Britain,
Russia, and France. The treaty failed to do this in the end, only heightening the arms race which
would ultimately lead to World War

12. How A Company Needs Help Expand Into New Markets
A company needs funds to expand into new markets, while governments need money for
everything from infrastructure to social programs. The problem large organizations run into is that
they typically need far more money than the average bank can provide. The solution is to raise
money by issuing bonds (or other debt instruments) to a public market. Thousands of investors then
each lend a portion of the capital needed. Really, a bondis nothing more than a loan for which you
are the lender. The organization that sells a bond is known as the issuer. The bond market(also debt
market or credit market) is a financial marketwhere participants can issue new debt, known as the
primary market, or buy and sell debt securities, known as the secondary market. This is usually in
the form of bonds, but it may include notes, bills.
A bond s price fluctuates throughout its life in response to a number of variables. When a bond
trades at a price above the face value, it is said to be selling at a premium. When a bond sells
below face value, it is said to be selling at a discount. The coupon is the amount the bondholder
will receive as interest payments. It s called a coupon because sometimes there are physical
coupons on the bond that you tear off and redeem for interest. However, this was more common in
the past. Nowadays, records are more likely to be kept electronically. The maturity date is the date
in the future on which the investor s principal will be repaid. Maturities can

13. My Faith In My Life
My mom once told me when I was young and ignorant, Faith is the foundation of a beautiful
friendship with the one person who will always remain by your side . These words were
expressed even more profoundly every Sunday in the echoing corridors of a small church by a
priest I had yet to know or even care about. Preaching with his perplexing words in which I could
only muster barely a fourth of my full attention span listening to. Thus, the term faith did not
exactly resonate with me until many years later. My early years were filled with the teachings of
the bible in Sunday school and later on as well in middle school during Friday night sessions.
Unfortunately, my mom was an extremely strong enforcer of our faith for she was also raised
Catholic from birth, but my dad on the other hand has a more scientific approach to how the
world came to be. The years I spent in Sunday school blurred into an everlasting line of bleak
nothingness just a ticking clock waiting till an end. Even today I do not remember anything that
occurred within those taxing sixty minuets of constant bible studies it s as though I lost the key to
the inner workings of my childhood. Nonetheless, there have always been unbelievably great role
models in my faith such as my mom, youth ministers, and friends who encourage me to be open to
my faith. However, it s always been my own restrictions that prevent me from furthering my
relationship with God. So when my sister suffered her first severe

17. Nurture Strongly Influences Early Human Development
Roshan Akthar Jahir Hussain 200821027
Nurture strongly influences early human development
Introduction
While nature produces healthy, well formed infants, nurture helps in developing them in the early
stages of their lives through practice and experience. It means that the early development of a
human is effective and faster by nurture than what comes out of nature. All children go through the
same sequences of growth and development in the same order right from their mother s womb, be it
the development of parts of the body and the development of organs, motor development after birth,
development of speech, etc.. Nature leads to ordinary development of a fetus into a human but it
cannot develop an infant into a healthy minded or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
can affect normal maturation of a fetus. So, it can be clearly noted from above that a fetus can be
completely organized and well developed only when given quality nurturing.
Influence of genetics and environment on the motor development of a child after birth
All children go through the same sequence of motor behaviors in the same order but they go
through the sequence at different rates. It is because those children who are not given attention or
taken good of (nurtured) are seen to develop in a slower rate than those who are given quality
nurture. Even if a child is born physically challenged, he/she can be trained or given physiotherapy
treatment to improve him/her to at least take care of their own selves. This clearly illustrates that
practice and experience makes a child to learn things faster and in a much better way than those
children who are left unnoticed.
Genetic and environmental influence on a child s development of speech
All human infants learn to speak in the course of normal development, but not until they have
attained a certain level of neurological development. It is applicable for both, children who are
given as well as children who are given quality nurture. As we already discussed on the motor
development of a child after birth, even here, in the case of development of speech of a child, the
fact is

3.Inadequate Voter Registration
3.1 Multiple Registration
Multiple Registration is a huge challenge for holding a free and fair presidential election in
Afghanistan. Voter registration process in Afghanistan is different as compared to rest of the world.
According to the electoral law of Afghanistan, for presidential elections, the entire country is a
single electoral constituency (Ministry of Justice, 2016, p.29). This means that a voter can register
himself and vote in any voting station across the country. Therefore, voter s lists do not exist in the
voting stations, and the required documents are election cards that open entrance for voters to vote.
According to ICG, 10.6 million Afghans were registered within Afghanistan and 740,000 special
election cards were distributed to Afghan refugees in Pakistan in 2004(ICG, 2009, p. 15).
Later, in 2005, through a registration process, 1.7 million more elections cards added to the
previously available voter cards. Similarly, in 2009, 4.4 million new voter cards were issued for
those who supposedly were not registered before. With these new voter cards, a number of election

murders had been committed by the same people, due to the fact that the victims were of

Corporate Governance and Separating the Board Chairperson from the Chief Executive Officer
Numerous reports on corporate governance have emphasised the desirability of increasing the
number of outside directors on boards. An equally important and related issue is a growing
insistence that the role of chairman and chief executive should be separate, though on this issue
there is less unanimity in the U.S. than in other countries.
Choosing the right Chief Executive officer is the key task for the board of directors. Pressure on
chief executives to perform in ever decreasing time frames makes it essential that the CEO and the
Board work closely together. An effective chief Executive will drive company strategy, lead the top

Although in many cases that rationale holds true, there are considerable benefits to CEO duality.
Researchers have suggested that chairman/chief executive duality is a double edged sword .
While some stockholders are put off by the absence of board control and checks and balances,
others are reassured by the presence of unity of command and the absence of potentially
acrimonious conflict between strong minded individuals. Finkelsein and D Aveni found that a
major factor in divining the success of this duality was the level of CEO informal power.
Either perceptual or objective data can be used to measure informal CEO power. Although some
researchers have used perceptual measures of power, power is a sensitive subject for many
managers. In using perceptual measures, a researcher assumes that social actors are knowledgeable
about power within their organizations; informants are willing to divulge what they know about
power distributions; and such a questioning process
IIAdvantages of CEO Duality
When it comes to insiders versus outsiders on the board, a predominant role for insiders finds
support more often, probably because insiders are more familiar with the issues, the technology,
and the practice of the firm . Only they who are deeply involved and can make it work add value.

The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus: World Wonder The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, also known
as the Artemision, was once a remarkable sight that was considered to be one of the Seven
Wonders of the Ancient World. The temple itself was a rather mysterious as not much is known
about the rituals that may have taken place there. It is known that the Ephesian held Artemis is the
highest honor. It was believed by some that Artemis herself was born at the location of the temple
(Iosa, pg. 3). The temple had many motifs dedicated to this believe, it can be considered the

while helping to build a railroad between Izmir and Denilzi (Jenkins, pg. 51). While excavating
the great theatre in May of 1966, Wood found an inscription describing silver figures that were
dedicated to the goddess Artemis. The inscription also mentioned a procession that would carry
these objects to the temple on the goddess s birthday. Using this Wood realized that if he found
the gates, the Magnesian Gate and the Coressian Gate, described in the passage he could find the
location of the Temple of Artemis. He found the Magnesian Gate by the end of 1967 followed
later by the Coressian (Jenkins, pg. 52). The temple itself was finally found by the end of 1869.
Wood later published an account of the excavation, including what he thought what the temple may
have looked like. In 1904, the site was revisited D. G. Hogarth and A. E. Henderson. They
researched the temple s earlier history and determined that the site had three incarnations (Jenkins,
pg. 53). The Artemision was built in the early Ionic style of Greek architecture, as can be seen from
the columns. The columns were unusual as they had capitals that had large rosettes on them instead
of the normal volutes. The modern restorations of the capitals give them petals, but it is debated on

David Warlick once said, We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher

much of our world. But is that true? Technology is not only costly, but it also hinders the student s

essential part of their learning. The health of the student is very important, especially if they want

Authors use different kinds of persuasion to influence the reader or the person listening. They use
those modes of persuasion to get their purpose across to the intended audience. The poem Caged
Bird by Maya Angelou and Hillary Clinton s Women s Rights Speech use logos, ethos, and pathos
to get their purpose across to a wide variety of individuals.
In Caged Bird written by Maya Angelou, She has two different perspectives in the poem, one
being a caged bird, and the other being a free bird. The poem might not seem like it has much
depth, but the true meaning of this text is inspiring. This poem was able to bring hope to
Americans who were fighting for civil rights. She uses the caged bird in the poem to show the
battle that many Americans faced during this time. In one stanza, Angelou states, his wings are

26. A Research Study On Periodontitis Is Recognised As...
Periodontitis is recognised as chronic, low grade, inflammatory and pathogenic infection, which
continuously changes at a systemic level (Reddy, Phulambriker, Wanjari, Srivastava, 2012).
Persistent inflammatory infection as a result of Gram negative anaerobic bacteria lead to the
destruction of bone and other tooth supporting structures; an outcome of periodontitisis periodontal
pockets (Usin et al., 2014). This fact enables bacteria and their by products to spread to areas
indirectly through the body s immune inflammatory response (Usin et al., 2014), thus creating
potential damages to other systems and organs.
It has been investigated that oral infections, such as periodontitis may increase the risk of low birth
weight (LBW) (Abati et al., 2013). Offenbacher et al., (1996) pioneering study suggested a
significant correlation between periodontitis and premature and/or low birth weight infants, and
further studies have identified the potential connection. However, the topic has remained
controversial since publication, with additional studies failing to find any positive associations
(Abati et al., 2013).
Depending on the geographical location periodontal disease has been observed in 10 60% of the
population and been associated with osteoporosis, foetal restriction, diabetes, respiratory and

Epilepsy
Epilepsy is a neurological condition of the brain that is also known as seizure disorder causing an
individual to have recurrent seizures ( Epilepsy and Seizures ). Epilepsy and seizures are often
interchangeable when defining a neurological condition; both involve the nervous system. The
primary difference is that epilepsy is a disorder and seizures are considered a symptom. An
individual can experience changes in behavior and their ability to focus. The seizures happen when
the electrical activity of the brain is disturbed and causes them to experience involuntary jerking of
the muscles, experience an altered state of consciousness or other peculiar behaviors. Epilepsy is ...

In Ancient Greek and Babylonian times, the symptoms of epilepsy were seen as being caused
by spirits and demons. Each symptom of Epilepsy was related to different demons. People were
afraid of individuals that exhibited symptoms and would stay away, believing it was contagious.
Individuals with epilepsy were isolated and stigmatized. In 400 B.C, the early physician,
Hippocrates, labeled epilepsy as the scared disease resulting from a brain disorder that is caused
by cold, sun and the changing restlessness of winds (Zenman, 2008). Ongoingly throughout
history misperceptions of the disease were identified. The ranged from evil spirits, witches or
satanic. In the mid 1800 s three neurologists John Hughlings Jackson, Sir John Russell Reynolds
and Sir William Richard Gowere focused on clarifying epilepsy as a medical disorder and their
studies have assisted in the current research.
In our society today epilepsy is usually identified after an individual has experienced at least two
seizures that are not due to a medical condition. The cause of epilepsy continues to be unknown,
but they suspect many possible causes such as trauma at birth where the baby experiences a lack

29. Portrayal Of Women In The Odyssey Essay
hough women play a central role in The Odyssey written by famous author Homer the portrayal
and characterization of said women highlights the negative portrayal of women at the time as well
as shows double standards that still plague our society today. All of the women are characterized
with few traits, most of which only describe their looks, while the reader is constantly reminded of
all of Odysseusgood traits, most of which have nothing to do with his looks. Even Penelope, who
is portrayed as the ideal woman, is only ever described as beautiful and faithful . Sadly, this
sexism is reflected in the Ancient Greek s patriarchal society in which women were considered the
property of men and they were married off with or without consent at very young ages. Women
play a central role in the Odyssey, yet due to the Ancient Greek s society prejudices the women are
written in a way that clearly highlights the double standards of society and the way men used to
portray women. In the society of Ancient Greecewomen were never in charge of their own
decisions and often had little to no say in them and were often married at young ages and were
judged, not by her own achievements, but by their looks, and the wealth and status of their
fathers or husbands. Even Penelope seems to acknowledge this when she says My looks, my face,
my carriage, were soon faded or lost. knowing that is what the people of the Ancient Greek society
judged people on. After Odysseus is presumed dead,

Twelfth Night is still considered to be one of Shakespeare s most successful comedies in modern
times. Doubling is the act of having a character pretend to be another character by using a
disguise or by trickery. Although there are not a lot of instances of doubling in Twelfth Night, it
is still considered to be one of the main literary devices that make this play a comedy.
Shakespeare manipulates the story line and its characters by using disguises and trickery. The
main plot of this story revolves around disguise. Viola, the main character, disguises herself as
Cesario. She decides to disguise herself in order to gain entrance into the Duke Orsino s house.
Viola pleads to the ship captain: Conceal me what I am, and be my aid/ for such disguise as
happy shall become/ the form of my intent. I ll serve this Duke (I.ii. 56 58). This is the moment
in which Viola decides that she will double under the name of Cesario. Doubling in Shakespeare
s time was very common, especially girls being disguised as boys. This allowed for one actor to
play many parts, and since there were no girl actors in Shakespearian time, many men played girls
who disguised themselves as men. This allowed for a sense of comedy to overshadow the play. The

ABSTRACT
The GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri is an afterburning gas turbine engine that was developed by the Gas
Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE) division of the Defence Research and Development
Organisation (DRDO). In 1989, the DRDO started developing the GTX 35VS Kaveri engine as an
indigenous power plantto replace the General Electric F404 engines that were initially set to power
the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), the Tejas, designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency
(ADA) and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The Kaveri Engine has a
higher thrust, both dry and wet thrust, than the SNECMA M88. However, due to the Kaveri
engine not being able to satisfy the performance requirements for the LCA, and several delays and
cost overruns, the GTX 35VS was decoupled from theTejas programme in late 2008.
A case study of the GTRE GTX 35VS Kaveri engine is being done to look at the engine that was
developed over the 25 year programme, and the shortfalls of the engine design are being analysed
using information, and documents that have been declassified. The Kaveri project has now been
disbanded, and has been used as the foundation point for the successors being called the K9+ and
the K10, being developed for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), and the final

Red wine is controversially associated with heart disease; specifically consuming red wine is
thought to decrease the incidence of heart disease, among other recently emerging hypothesized
health benefits. Although, to date this information is not scientifically proven, consumers enjoy a
glass of wine with the assumed benefits of heart health. Despite many being unaware of the exact
mechanisms behind this concept, it is a seemingly popular trend to associate red wine
consumption with health benefits. Exactly what in red wine causes this health benefit?
Resveratrol. Resveratrol is a component present due to the grapes used to create red wines. It has
many specific properties that allow wine to possess the beneficial traits necessary to potentially
benefit health. The purpose of this paper is to review the components, composition and health
benefits of resveratrol, and to identify the specific qualities of red wine. The initial interest in the
components of wine came about in 1992, due to various studies determining an inverse
relationship between wine consumption and risk of coronary heart disease. (Higdon Stewart,
2008) A 60 Minutes episode sparked an interest in resveratrol when two doctors proposed this was

played board games every saturday night. Your neighborhood kids hate the cold so they stay in, this
means a much more peaceful neighborhood. Winter also meant that mosquitoes are not biting you
to death. You conclude that winter is an amazing season, however, spring has your pick. Despite
your allergies and your fear of bees, you love the amazing springy aroma, the beautiful colorful
flowers, and the grass on your lawn. Unlike winter you don t have to worry about shoveling,
warming up your car, or paying extra on your heating bill. You love to wake up an hour early to
go for a jog under the beautiful Minnesotan sunrise. You somehow find joy is watching birds fly
through the beautiful clear skies. Night when the rain falls heavy are the best; you stay up all
night and binge watch Netflix until you doze off under the found of rain. Even though winter is a
beautiful and relaxed season, spring has a lot more to offer. Spring is the season of good vibes and
relaxation. At the end, you are thankful to live in Minnesota because of the unpredictable weather.

40. Influences In Beowulf
Christian vs. Pagan Influences in BEOWULF Beowulf is the epic story of a young hero who
battles the monster Grendel and his mother. Beowulf is a prince of the Geats, the son of Ecgtheow

Scyld Scefing. There at Heorot, Beowulfdestroys the monster Grendel, who for twelve years has

41. Falstaff s Role in Henry IV, Part One Essay
Falstaff s Role in Henry IV, Part One
Henry IV, Part One, has always been one of the most popular of
Shakespeare s plays, maybe because of Falstaff. Much of the early criticism
I found concentrated on Falstaff and so will I. This may begin in the
eighteenth century with Samuel Johnson. For Johnson, the Prince is a young
man of great abilities and violent passions, and Hotspur is a rugged
soldier, but Falstaff, unimitated, unimitable Falstaff, how shall I
describe thee? Thou compound of sense and vice . . . a character loaded
with faults, and with faults which produce contempt . . . a thief, a
glutton, a coward, and a boaster, always ready to cheat the weak and prey
upon the poor; to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one can deny that he is
in fact a glutton and a thief. A coward is debatable. I choose to think he
is. He is self centered and cares only for his own profit and enjoyment. He
will protect himself at all costs including playing possum if necessary
to avoid injury. When he misuses the money intended to buy troops and
weapons, he turns it into profit for himself. Once again, with no concern
for anyone else, he potentially jeopardizes the troops, the battle and the
kingdom with substandard men and materials while making money for himself.
It makes the reader question, what kind of friend is he to Hal that he
would misuse the trust that has been given him. All the easier for Hal to
42. ultimately recognize that this is not the kind of person or people he wants
to associate himself with, let alone approve of.
Johnson s second assumption that you can detach Falstaff s frivolity
from the real drama is in fact true, but what would you have left? A less
interesting, less amusing drama with only one main plot. Falstaff is of
paramount importance to the sub plot dealing with Hal s decision between
continuing his carefree life style or maturing into the role he is destined
to play as a respected prince and later king. This story would be pretty
dull if Hal didn t have to choose between an entertaining life like
Falstaff s or an honorable one as a gallant warrior and respected

44. Dover Beach Tone
Dover Beach is a poem that was written by Matthew Arnold which describes a speaker s view on
faith slowly fading from the world in which he lives. The primary purpose of this poem is to use
imagery to paint a picture of the dying religious presence in the world that the speaker finds
himself in. This is the central message that Matthew Arnold is trying to get across to his
audience. An excellent example of how Arnold translates this to the reader is how the tone of the
first eight lines and the tone of the final three lines of the poem differ from each other. The first
eight lines of Dover Beach sets the initial tone for the beginning of the poem. They are used to
paint a picture within the reader s head and to present a specific tone in the beginning. The speaker

He uses the term, The Sea of Faith , as a metaphor to describe the ocean of religious influence
that the world once had. (Arnold 21). He eventually ends the poem with three lines that possess
a completely opposite tone that the initially eight lines did. Instead of being in a calm, tranquil
place, the reader is told, And we are here as on a darkling plain (Arnold 35). The speaker has
taken us from a tone of tranquility and joyfulness to instead one of hopelessness and gloom. The
final two lines depict death and blind violence, Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight
/ Where ignorant armies clash by night (Arnold 36,37). The speaker specifically describes the
armies as clashing by night , in order to suggest that with the blackness of night the fighters are
most likely not only killing their enemies but also their allies. The speaker has seen the world s
dying religious faith and has come to accept that times are changing and that means that chaos is
coming. This change of thought is the primary purpose for the dramatic change on tone that we
witness within these

Dr. Leo Percer in his video presentation gave an excellent definition of Hermeneutics. He articulated
that hermeneutics was an art and science of biblical interpretation. My thoughts concur with his,
and in addition, hermeneutics could also be an in depth comprehension of biblical interpretation
that relinquish the apprehension of one s thoughts and focus mainly on how was the text develop
through the intellect of the author. The role of author as stated by Dr. Percer is the Supreme.
Nothing can be interpreted from the Biblewithout first engaging in research to determine what were

a prick or prod to the heart. 3 I grew up in a church that the author s interpretation was not stress,
simply stated, the Scripture would be read and the preacher would use life experiences to support
his premise. Stuart rebuttal this argument by stating, The first task of the interpreter is called

intended meaning. 4 In brief, Scripture is God s Word, and he wants people to read it because of

These valves are designed to control the direction of blood flow through the heart. The opening
and closing of these valves produce the heart beat sounds. When the heart beats, the valves close
to keep the blood form flowing backwards. The heart beats more than one hundred thousand
times per day. The valves must be able to flex, stretch and hold back pressure hundreds of
million times in an average lifetime. The mitral and aortic valves are on the left side of the
heart. These are most commonly affected by aging because the pressure is higher on this side.
The right heart valves can be damaged by infection or lung disease. Regardless of the valve
damage, as they harden or weaken they do not open properly and therefore blood flow may be
blocked. Heart valve conditions may also be congenital. Diseases such as rheumatic fever or
bacterial infections may also scar or destroy the valves. Heart valve diseases fall into two
categories, stenosis and incompetence. The stenotic heart valve prevents full opening of the valve
because of the stiffened valve tissue, therefore the heart works harder to push blood throughout the
valve. The incompetent valve cause insufficient blood circulation by permitting backflow of blood
on the heart. There are two main types of prosthetic valve designs: mechanical and bioprosthetic
(tissue). Mechanical heart valves were first implanted in 1952. Since then, over 30 different
mechanical designs have originated. The

47. Symbols In The Great Gatsby And Citizen Kane
The Great Gatsby and Citizen Kane are both stories in which the main character wants to get
back to times before where they presently are. In both stories they have an object that symbolizes
a time and person they wish to be. For Gatsby it is the green light and for Kane it is Rosebud.
What I want to explore is what happens when theses symbols are no longer symbols, but
memories. First I want to talk about Gatsby, in the book the green light symbolizes Daisy, which
we find out in the fifth chapter when Nick and Daisy are at Gatsby s house after he has showed
them all of his shirts. This is important because for Gatsby, Daisy is a physical embodiment of a
time when he was happier, and he wants to go back to that time therefore he has to attain Daisy.
The reason the green light represented Daisy was because it was the closest Gatsby could get to
her from the other side of the bay it was something he could look at every night and reminisce on
what he wants to make his future. Consequently, when Gatsby is telling Daisy and Nick how
you can typically see the green light on her dock the significance of the light vanishes and he
becomes absorbed at the idea of the death of light to where he doesn t notice the physical
embodiment of his happy time is in his reach. For example, it s like setting the goal of getting
into UT so you hang a poster in your room to represent the idea, and then you go for a visit but the
whole time you re thinking of the poster because it was all you had

business and society will be analysed. In gathering primary data however, it is evident how much
many different countries rely heavily on their agricultural sectors. Per Xu, Li Wan (2017, p. 95)
China s most important priority is feeding its people and with climate change levels trending

States and Australia have also seen a growing rate of awareness and attraction towards looking to

50. Beowulf s Heroic Code
Beowulf remains one of the most important works of English literature though it was written
centuries ago. One reason for this fact is that many of the themes that it touches on are still
pertinent in today s extremely different society. One of the most prevalent themes found in
Beowulf is the importance of the heroic code. Much of this epic poem is dedicated to conveying
and exemplifying the heroic code which values such attributes as strength, courage and honor.
Conflicting with this ideology are other factors such as Christianity, and these tensions affect the
lives and decisions of the narrative s characters. Over the course of the poem, Beowulfmatures from
a gallant warrior into a wise leader. This transition illustrates that a sometimes conflicting code of
values goes along with each of his roles.
In Germanic societies, such as the one in which Beowulf takes place, there were heroic codes
which defined how a noble person should act. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning he is a brave fighter, but by the end, he has become a wise and noble king. This
transition shows that perhaps a different code is necessary to fulfill these different roles. These
sets of values illustrate early on in the poem the contrary outlooks of Beowulf and Hrothgar.
Early in the poem, Beowulf is young, brave and has no one to worry about but himself. Because
of this he can risk everything in his quest for personal glory. Hrothgar, on the other hand, is
responsible for the lives of many people, and therefore seeks their safety rather than his own
honor. Hrothgar s example becomes invaluable to Beowulf in preparation for the time when he
will take the throne. He learns that as a king, it is his duty to praise his warriors as well as protect
his people. Hrothgar emphasizes the importance of creating a stable environment. He also says that
having good relationships with one s own men, as well as with other groups, is

51. Theme Of Foreshadowing In A Doll House
A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen, is a play that follows Nora Helmer and her husband Torvald
Helmer through the holiday season and the fall of their marriage. Within the two acts there are
many figurative language devices used to help further the story along, however, there are a few
in specific that stand out. The play s foreshadowing, symbolism, and irony all contribute the
most to the play s overall development of Nora s self affirmation. Foreshadowing in A Doll
House is present from the beginning of the story. Much of which is not noticeable until later
events. In the beginning of Act 1 Nora hides her macaroons from Torvald, HELMER: Hasn t
Miss Sweet Tooth been breaking rules in town today? ... taken a bite at a macaroon or two?
NORA: No, Torvald. (Ibsen, 1657). Although it is minor in nature, it reveals Nora s character of
being rebellious despite Torvald s wishes. The effect this characterization has on the story is that
she is not the obeying wife that many were in the Victorian Era. Through this foreshadowing the
reader can begin to identify the conflicts of Nora and Torvald s relationship that get developed on
as the play progresses. Another example of foreshadowing is in Act 2 when Nora is getting
ready to leave out to town, when she engages in a conversation with Anne Marie about the
children asking, Do they ask for me much? . To which Anne Marie responds, They re so used to
having Mama around, you know. . This is important because Nora replies with, Yes, but Anne
Marie, I can t be together with them as much as I was. (Ibsen, 1675). This hints towards Nora
abandoning her role as a mother, which in the end occurs when she leaves Torvald to find herself
and become independent. The foreshadowing throughout the play contributed to the dramatic
ending. Symbolism in A Doll House is another key element in the development of the play. The
setting of the play was during Christmas Eve throughout December 26th. Typically, this is the
ending of the year and represents family being together. However, as the play progresses, the
optimistic outlook on Christmas that is expected changes. In the opening description of the setting
in Act 1 Nora tells Helene, Hide the tree well... The children mustn t get a

52. Questions On Organizational Communication Concepts Essay
1. The movie I chose for this assignment is The Terminal.
2 Three Organizational Communication Concepts:
Organizational Cultural Elements: According to Keyton (n.d.), organizational culture is defined as
the set of artifacts, values and assumptions that emerges from the interactions of organizational
members (p. 550). Some examples of artifacts and values include, norms, customs, how members
should behave, and assumptions are revealed when talking about your work experiences. The
culture of an organization can be simply what it feels like to be there (Keyton, n.d.). Every culture
is dynamic, always changing and guides the construction of reality in a social community. There are
7 elements of culture which include metaphors, rituals, stories, artifacts, heroes and heroines,
performances and values (class notes, Oct. 25). In the movie The Terminalthe culture is constantly
changing and when Viktor Navorski arrives, just his presence and the things he does changes the
culture of the terminal and those people that he comes in contact with. One element is artifacts,
this can include how he gathers the carts and puts them back to get the quarters. When I think of
artifacts I think of how he remodeled the space where he is living; gate 67. He added a plant and
a wheel chair with a blanket and made his space his home. He made one area like a restaurant when
he had dinner with Amelia. The restaurants, stores, customs office etc. are all elements of artifacts.
