The Representation Of Interracial Relationships
In the multi cultural society that we live in today, relationships from all different cultures are
welcomed. The mixing of races has been going on for hunherds of years and dates back to the
unfortunate years of slavery. Where the mixing of white and black was a taboo, but still carried
out by the white slave masters on their black maids/ slaves.
In this essay I will be looking at the representation of interracial relationships and how these
relationships have been portrayed in cinema from 1903 up until present. I will be discussing the
how miscegenation has been represented to audiences over the years as a problem, and something
that is unnatural. This essay will be anasyling scenes from movies such as Birth of a Nation, and

It was this filmed that sparked the 1927 production code, which was called the Don t and Be
Carful s. This production code was a guideline for professionals in the industry, on what was not
to be depicted on the screens for audience to watch. The representation of miscegenation was
strictly prohibited from the years 1930 1956. This production code was a reflection of the views
that were held in society at the time. As cinema is often a reflection of society, miscegenation
when it is present in films is often if not always represented to the audience as problematic. The
relationships start off great but have a hard time progressing to anything further as, each side has to
deal with problems that they cannot relate to, or has issues addressing with their partners. These as
these were the views of society at the time, the view that these interracial relationship wouldn t
work and were unnatural were projected on our screens to further reinforce the message to the
audience.
Miscegenation was first shown on screens in 1903, in the film What happened in the tunnel? .
Unusually the interracial relationship is not represented in its typical form. There is no physical
relationship presented to the audience, miscegenation is presented to the audience when a white
man catches the eye of a white woman while embarking on a train

Essay about Comapring Porters 5 Forces for the Airline...
Assignment # 1
Strategic Practice Exercise: (page #81)
1. Score each competitive force in the airline industry and provide a brief rationale for your
assessment.
В·Rivalry Among Existing Firms: (High)
When one major company in an industry makes a change in costs or services that could
potentially increase their clientele, a major competitor almost always follows suit. Price matching
is a prime example of that, therefore the threat is high. West Jet is one company that offers flights
at a discount and forced Air Canada to create new banners to compete with the discounted prices.
All major companies and firms in an industry watch each other s every move very carefully, and
match any move with a countermove. During slow season in the airline ... Show more content on

Therefore, the threat of substitution is a significant factor in the airline industry. However, if a
customer has to travel very quickly or a significant distance, that person would most likely choose
the flight option instead of a cheaper alternative.
В·Bargaining Power of Buyers/Distributors: (Medium)
Bargaining power is a tricky one because it can work both ways. Buyers have a certain level of
power in any industry. A buyer may switch suppliers very easily if there are no penalties and it is
cost effective for them. If a large firm makes a large purchase of goods from another firm, it may
be mutually beneficial and if serviced well, have the potential for repeat business. However, the
buyer then has the power to use a substitute or competitor which would negatively affect the
seller. Buyers are always the more powerful of the two because some buyers have the ability to
put pressure on lower costs from suppliers, while demanding an increase of the quality of
products or services provided to them. Also, the bargaining power in industries with high fixed
costs like the airline industry can play a big factor. On the other hand, things like jet engines, tires
and other key safety devices on aircrafts can cause severe consequences if this equipment
malfunctions. For that reason, the buyer has a reduced amount of bargaining power with suppliers
in this industry. The bargaining power of buyers is both high and low, so I ranked it medium.

Understand Child and Young Person Development
Sequence and Rate of Each Aspect of Development and the Importance of Them
When looking at and discussing a child s development, you have to remember that all children
are different and grow at different rates. Every child will follow the same sequence but they may
not necessarily do it at the same time as each other. For example, you could have two, 6 month old
babies, 1 could already be able to crawl, and the other 1 may not have mastered it yet and may not
until they are a bit older. You must remember that your child is an individual and not group him
with another child and expect him/her to reach the milestones at the same time. It is important also

Charles Darwin s Life
Charles Darwin was an English naturalist, which is now known as a biologist, who is best known
for his contributions to the theory of evolution by natural selection and his interest in the
Galapagos Islands through the adaption of species. The life of Darwin was highly influenced
through his childhood. His family greatly helped Charles with their financial and moral support
aboard the H.M.S. Beagle, the voyage [which] took nearly five years, from December 1831 to
October 1836. (American Museum of Natural History). In particular, the Galapagos and South
America greatly intrigued Darwin, where he discovered species such as the marine iguana, the
giant tortoise, the finch, and the blue footed booby (Cappadocia). It was due to the research... Show

The distribution of plants and animals in the Galapagos was puzzling to Darwin; where did
these species originate from? Why don t the same species appear in similar environments? Many
species only lived on the Galapagos and sometimes, only one certain island. How did these
species end up there? There were species on the Galapagos such as insects and reptiles that
resembled some species in South America, but were also different in very slight ways. Darwin
began to wonder if species would travel to the Galapagos, and then adapt to their new
environments over time. If two species came from a common ancestor, it would make sense for
them to live together. For example, Darwin s finches he discovered on the Galapagos had
differently sized beaks. These beaks would differ in size according to the area these birds were in
their appearance and behavior quickly adapted to this closed and rapidly changing environment.

As a respiratory therapist at a local hospital, I was called to the Emergency Department to await

coughing, congestion, fever, and runny nose for the previous five days. He is currently taking

The Pros And Cons Of Assassination As A Tool Of Modern...
The changing face of conflict has brought about an evolution on how we conduct and even think
about warfare. Gross (2010) states that assassination was once prohibited under the statutes of
international law but has increasingly become common in the modern day battlefield. A dilemma is
presented when we question is there any ethical basis of using assassination as a tool of modern
warfare. There is increasing realization that one cannot engage in war using the conventional
means. Terrorismand insurgence being the new methods employed in modern warfare mean
fighting using conventional rules puts one at a major disadvantage. The killing of Osama Bin

Osama bin Laden s case was special since while he was not the head of a government, he was the
leader of a terrorist organization that was engaged in terrorist attacks against the United States. And
as concluded by White (2012) this notion can be used to support the rationale of using terrorism
as a tool of war on some specific special targets. Assassination though is not a just means of
engaging in warfare as explained by Gross (2010) since there is no basis of choosing who is a
terrorist engaging in warfare and who is not a terrorist. Nelson Mandela was labeled a terrorist
by the South African government but he subsequently became a head of state and leader of
South Africa. If assassination was used as a tool to eliminate him then it would complicate the
justification of assassination as stated by White (2012) as a tool to eliminate terrorists in the
event of a war. Mandela transformed from being a terrorist to a Nobel Peace prize winner. Justice
cannot be served through assassinations as a method of war. The discretion of whether to use it or
not cannot be left to the whims of those in government since they could use it on any of their so
called enemies whom they could label as

Earthquakes With Earthquakes
Earthquakes: The Same Effects, but Different Responses
Earthquakes occur as a result of the abrupt release of energy in the Earth s crust that creates a
series of waves known as seismic waves. Earth quakes greatly affect people whether they are living
in economically disadvantaged countries or in economically developed countries. However, the
way each of them responds to the hazard is different.
The tectonic movements in the earth s crust are the initial causes of earthquakes. These
movements bring about forces of tension and pressure, these forces stress up the earth s crust. As
the stresses increase, an imbalance in equilibrium of the rocks which results into breaking of
rocks and displaced. The energy accumulated during the process is released giving raise to waves.
The waves cause vibration of objects they come across with causing a lot of impact on them. This
may include shaking and rapture of the ground. As a result there is damage of infrastructure,
landslides, fires due to damage caused to electric and gas lines.
Volcanic eruptions can also cause earthquakes since they are often very violent and can cause
vibrations to the earth s crust, this can result into rupture of geological faults. This is as a result of
the movement of lava beneath ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

realise that the responses were totally different. In Los Angeles almost all schools had been
opened in a period of just one week, and in three weeks all schools had been opened. However, in
Kashmir it was distinctively a different case, whereby rebuilding and re supply of schools took

The Testament Of The Bible Essay
Like many individuals in today s world, not many of us actually know of the true accounts
conveyed to us by means of the Bible. Being able to decipher the Bible, in its own way is a task
in itself. Growing up as a young child, I had attended church with my grandfather, but back then I
was not really exposed to the Bible, as I have been exposed to it by taking this course. The purpose
of this assignment, is to research Mosesand the Passover in Exodus 10 15 of the Old Testamentin the
Hebrew Bible. By using various resources such as commentaries, dictionaries, and the Bible itself
has helped me grasp a better knowledge of Moses and the role that he played within the Bible, as
well as the story of Passover. I always knew that Moses was considered to be an important figure
within the Bible. But, I never knew exactly how significant he truly remained. Since enrolling in
this religion course, I have learned background information, that I never knew previously. The text
studied within this course was a brief introduction to the Old Testament discussing the Hebrew
Bible in its context. The Old Testament integrates the scared writings of the Jewish belief, that are
all inscribed at different periods of time from anywhere around 1200 to 165 BC. The Old Testament
positions the foundations for the education and proceedings that transpire in the New Testament. I
find it absolutely necessary to study the Old Testament in order to gain the concept of events,

Effects of War on Morality and Religion of a Person
Introduction Most people in the world have experienced the effects caused by war. War causes
negative effects on religion, moral values, death and destruction of properties. The morality of
war has become a debatable issue in the modern society. This is because of the adverse effects
caused by war. Morality in the society is determined by the behavior and character of an
individual. For example, society appreciates people having good behaviors as they are viewed as
morally right. The society condemns people who have bad behavior as they are not morally right.
Morality is made up of several elements like beliefs, values. Morality is important in the society as
it determines the character of members in the community. Religion refers to... Show more content

They do not consider the effect war has on the morality of the participants, and the society. For
example, just theory supports use of war to defend the society or country. Other people believe
that war is not morally right and people should not fight. People should not fight to defend their
country or society, but they should exercise peace when solving disputes (Gert, 2005). War has
adverse effects on a person s personality. Morality means a persons conduct (Gert, 2005).
Societies have different moral values. Most societies appreciate people who have good
behaviors. The society condemns people who have bad behaviors and as they affect the society
negatively (Gert, 2005). War affects the morality of a person negatively. It affects the morality
of people who fight during war and the society in general. War does more harm to the moral of
people in the society than property and other valuables. The moral evil of war is suffered by
people participating in the war and people in the society experiencing the war (Gert, 2005). Most
researchers have carried out research to determine if war is moral or not. Most researchers argue
that war is not moral because of the destruction it causes to property, lives and moral values. Most
people do not support use of war to settle disputes (Gert, 2005). Christians and other people support
pacifism. Pacifism is the opposition to use of war to settle disputes. They

Symbolism plays a big role in the short story by Raymond Carver because only towards the end

because as the narrator and Robert, the blind man, are watching television Robert asks the
narrator to describe him what a cathedral looks like since he has never been able to see one.
However, because the narrator stated that he does not believe in something in particular, to him a

Holes Character Analysis
Stanley Yelnats is the main character in the book Holes, written by Louis Sachar. Stanley is an
overweight 14 year old boy who has to spend 18 months at Camp Green Lake, a juvenile
correctional facility, because he is wrongly accused for stealing the shoes of the famous baseball
player, Clyde Livingston. In the book, the author portrays Stanley as a young boy who is
unlucky because of a family curse. However, during his stay at Camp Green Lake, Stanley
discovers other traits about himself that he didn t know that he had. In addition to his unlucky
trait, bravery and kindness are also characteristics that can be used to describe Stanley. Stanley
considers himself an unlucky person. He thinks that he and his family have been cursed because
of his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather. Stanley is unlucky because he does
not have any friends at school, his teachers sometimes make hurtful comments about him, his
family is poor, he lives in a small apartment, and his father is an unsuccessful inventor. What
makes Stanley feel really unlucky is that he s being punished for a crime he did not commit.
Stanley did not steal Clyde Livingston s shoes. He happened to be walking under an overpass when
the shoes fell on him. Unfortunately, since the shoes happened to be in his hands when the police
showed up, he was found guilty and sent to Camp Green Lake. On page 7, the author points out that
Stanley has this unlucky trait about him by stating that

Ravens (Corvus corax) are known to be scavengers and there have been observations that they
may have developed a foraging strategy that involves grey wolves (Canis lupis). Henrich et al.
(2002) discussed the benefits that the common raven gain by utilizing kleptoparasitism as a
foraging strategy in order to reduce risk and search time, as well as obtaining mammalian prey
that they would likely never be able to hunt without wolves. A kleptoparasitic relationship means
that ravens steal the prey that the wolves have caught. Hayes et al. (2005) discussed how skillful

King Louis VII and it was a miracle that King Louis VII could bear a son so late in his regime.
His birth at Paris on 21 August 1165 was the occasion of exceptional rejoicing for his parents,

Ethical Leadership In The Island And Kurt Vonnegut s The...
According to the Oxford Dictionary, Ethical Leadership is leadership that is directed by respect
to embrace the ethical beliefs and values as well as the dignity and rights of others. However, not
all leaders are driven by their moral principles given that authoritative people can often be selfish
and inconsiderate of the people under their control. In The Island, a film directed by Michael
Bay, Dr. Merrick, the founder of Merrick Biotech, is in control of secretly bred clones. Similarly,
Kurt Vonnegut s All the King s Horses, characterizes a Colonel named Bryan Kelly who
dominates sixteen other Americans. A leader s exertion of power to manipulate others is
commonly discerned in a negative and invidious way. Nonetheless, this notion is challenged as
it pertains to both the film and the story in different ways. Although both works exhibit a leader s
manipulation of humans for one s personal gain, The Island portrays a superior, Dr. Merrick as
an unethical leader, whereas All the King s Horses shows a manipulator, Colonel Bryan Kelly,
who abides the moral principles of an ethical leader. Should thesis specify what makes the leader
ethical? The Island manifests an unethical leader, Dr. Merrick, who dictates the lives of the
clones, not with the purpose of improving and facilitating the clone s lifestyle, but solely for the
purpose of earning a profit. Dr. Merrick is the leader of all the clones and everyone under his
control depend on him to keep them healthy.

The Plight Of Low Income Individuals And Their Families
Saul Alvarez English 101 The Plight of Low Income Individuals and Their Families According
to the PRB article U.S. Low Income Working Families Increasing , 42.7% of people live below
the poverty line, with 32.1% of them living 200% below the poverty line; this group is
categorized as the low income group.(PRB) 59% of low income working families have one or
more minority parents. Living in a low income community limits one s standard of living through
academic gaps, the selection of food available, an ever present fear of victimization , and a lack
of resources available to both children and adults. The differences in academic gaps between
children and teenagers from low income neighborhoods and affluent neighborhoods present
themselves in the schools the students attend. A study by the Department of Education showed
that students in low income areas did not have access to the same rigorous courses, and when
they did, the resources available to the low income students was lacking compared to the
resources the students in high income neighborhoods had access to. In the low income areas black
and Hispanic students were twice as likely to have teachers with less experience, with one or two
years in the profession, compared to schools in affluent neighborhoods with well to do white
students. Another thing increasing the academic gap is that only 22 percent of local districts
reported offering pre kindergarten or other early learning programs for low income children.

Meaning Of Greasy Lake
Joshua Glidden

July 8, 2015
Greasy lake The title of Boyle s short story Greasy Lake before I start lets quickly get introduced
to the word greasy and how it is used during this short story. the word greasy is indicating that the
persons manners or behaviors are effusively polite in a way that is felt to be insincere and
repulsive. Also it is based off of Bruce Springsteen s song Spirit in the Night. The lyrics It s about
a mile down on the dark side of Route 88 . The story focuses on three nineteen year old men
living in a time (probably the 1960 s) the authors origin and motive of this story is to show the
view of his childhood and the hell that he rose in the 80 s, time period and we can relate to this
type of greasy behavior today. And generations to come. The narrator says, it was good to be bad,

off family and he didn t have to take that road, but we all have the choice and every generation
goes though it. The narrator also tips of his rebirth and baptism in the lake while he was running
from his fight that he just encountered with the tire iron he trips over a body floating in the
lake. All in all I thought this story was super fun to read and relate to in the sense of being wild
and ruthless, but the song that came along with it was pretty awsome and was fun to listen to and

Urban Sprawl In Los Angeles Essay
Los Angeles is built on the vast and flat landscape; it was their opportunity to grow fast as a
metropolitan. With this environment, the constant influx of population was enough to generate a
significant community even outside of downtown. The urban sprawl started on its endless
horizontal ground. However, soon they confronted the limit of the carrying capacity. L.A couldn t
handle its urban sprawl; it needed a solution to keep growing. Los Angelescouldn t deal with the
increasing housing demand and lacking of public space. Compared to other metropolitan, such as
New York, Los Angeles showed the dramatic comparison in population density. The urbanized area
of Los Angeles was the densest in the country in 1990, more so than even New York City
. The 2000
figure for the Los Angeles Long Beach Santa Ana Urbanized area is 7,068 people per square
mile, compared to 5,309 for the New York, New jersey Connecticut urbanized area. (Grey 90) In
detail, 90 districts of L.A have more than 10,000 people per square mile. Especially Koreatown
has the biggest number which is 42,000 square per mile (LA times Sewell 2016). After decades,
when it confronted its housing problem due to unaffordability, people finally realized there is no
suburban area for them to move or build new housings in Los Angeles. They reached their limit of
growing. Unnerving lesson in man s infinite capacity to mess up his environment. (Grey 238) The
population kept larger, the price of housing also increased. Los

What Does The Dream Of The Rood Mean
The Dream of the Rood is a work which inspires one to think, to contemplate, and to begin to
better understand one s own faith. The Rood tells us of its life, from being a tree to being the
instrument in Christ s death to its visions after Christ s death, burial, and resurrection. I felt the
Rood s agony as it became an unwilling participant in the death of the Lord. The purpose of this
poem is to bring the glory back to God, reflecting on his goodness and his purposes in the earth.
The dreamer, who heard and recounted the Rood s story, ends with hope in Christ and a hope in the
future of everlasting life in heaven.
The Rood communicates to the dreamer that God recognizes this type of faith. For its tremendous
self discipline and submission to the Lord s will, the Rood gains a rich reward. Just as Christ s
obedience to his Father was recognized by God, the Rood s faithfulness is also acknowledged. He
stresses the notion that the gift of salvation is so great that it transcends human understanding. The
gift of redemption, which assures man pardon of his sins and never ending happiness in the
presence of his creator, is so immense that it cannot be fully understood in human terms. On the
basis of cultural and ethical concepts valid in this life, man may be able to comprehend part of the
mystery of Christ s self sacrifice, but not the fullness of God s grace. By twisting the theme of
service, the poet urges his audience to give to God the return gift that he demands,

India s Tobacco Advertising Ban
India s Tobacco Advertising Ban
The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that worldwide, five million tobacco users die
annually and estimates that one million Indians die each year prematurely from tobacco use
(2015). As late at 2009, India was the world s second largest consumer and third largest producer of
tobacco (Economist, 2009, p. 5). In an attempt to reduce consumption, India introduced its first
adverting ban on tobacco in 1990, followed in 2003 by the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products
Act (COTPA) to close loopholes and further regulate tobacco adverting. This paper examines the
arguments for and against these advertising bans and explores whether or not tobacco creates a
conflict of interest when governments profit from the tobacco industry.
For the Ban
The most compelling reason to ban tobacco advertising is the growing body of evidence linking
tobacco ads to increased tobacco use, particularly children. Studies following a 1998 settlement
prohibiting U.S. tobacco companies from targeting American youth have shown a steady decline,
with the lowest levels in forty years of teenage smoking reported in 2015. Despite COTPA, Indian
youth s exposure to cigarette advertising has increased in part because of aggressive point of sale
marketing, promotional support of music and sporting events, through social media, and smoking
portrayed in Bollywood films. Multiple authorities agree that a ban on tobacco advertising has to
be all encompassing and free from

What Role Does Nature Play In Frankenstein
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a novel written in the Romantic period of literature. In the
Romantic period, nature and human emotion played quintessential roles in the plot of nearly
every story. Frankenstein is no exception. Throughout the novel there are glimpses, or full page
descriptions, of nature that correlates directly to the plot underway. More specifically, the
seasons play a significant role in the lives and fates of the characters. As Thomas C. Foster

Being brought into the world and being immediately forced into the season of hibernation, lack
of growth, punishment, and death is incredibly foreboding as to how the rest of his life will pan

innocence allows him to experience the seasons as any human would. From his hovel, he
notices that winter kills nature s beauty and therefore made life difficult for humans so he
understood, on a smaller scale, the power of death and destruction while he also felt ecstatic at
the prospect of spring coming along soon after, calling the earth a fit habitation for gods, which,
so short a time before, was bleak, damp and unwholesome (81). The Monster, as any human does,
forgets the sorrows of the winter and of death and looks forward to the bright rays of the sun and

To take a closer look at the financing, the proposal to date is that the general partners will be
made up of the group and the hospital. The general partners will contribute $500,000 and will
retain 100% management control over the hospital. The limited partners will supply $500,000 but
have no liability beyond the initial investment. The hospital will borrow $1 million from Miami
National Bank for a five year term with interest rates of 8%. This initial $2 million will purchase
and pay for the start up costs associated with the machine.
As the current proposal stands the limited partners are to receive their initial investment the first
two years of the project whether it is successful or not. In order to look at what that means the
numbers are important. A cash flowanalysis is important to determine feasibility of the project.
So, three cash flow statements are prepared; best case scenario, most likely, and worst case
scenario. In the best case scenario, the cash flow distribution would be $247,588 to the general
partners and $577,294 to the limited partners. As you can see the limited partners are paid twice
as much as the partners since in the proposal the limited partners are to receive their initial
investment back first. However, after year one the cash flows are split 50/50 general partners to
limited partners, this is good for all parties involved. In the most

Abstract
To improve the properties of microalgae as sources for biodiesel production, Nannochloropsis

(NH4HCO3, (NH4)2SO4, NaNO3, NH4NO3 and Urea, 0.88 mmol N lв€’1). The growth, total lipid
content, fatty acid profiles of the microalga were assayed after 15 days of cultivation. The results
indicated that the growth based on cell number of N. oceanicawas lowest in medium with
ammonium nitrate and increased significantly in medium with ammonium carbonate. The
microalgae treated with ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate had the highest total lipid
contents, which were 90 and 87 %, respectively. The fatty acid profiles of the microalgawas
significantly different. The major fatty acids incultures supplemented with ammonium bicarbonate,
ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate and urea, C14:0, C16:0, C16:1, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2,

Lgbt Views On Lgbt Rights Movement Essay
The LGBT Rights Movement (in which LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender )
dates its beginnings back to almost a century in the United States. The movement aims to bring
equality and acceptance on all platforms of life to those who identify as LGBT. Whether it be in
the workplace, in school, or even in church, LGBT individuals have historically been discriminated
against across the globe. While the overt and systemic discrimination against those who identify as
LGBT has subsided significantly over the years in a few regions such as the United States, the
entire continent of Africacontinues to struggle. The systemic complexities of African countries (i.e.
religion, culture, social climate) have greatly hindered the progression of the LGBT Rights
Movement in Africa; the Motherland of Humanity. Throughout African history, many have
attempted to justify the discrimination and brutality against LGBT individuals through false
assumptions and accusations, research on mental illness, and claims of condemnation from a
biblical standpoint (God Loves Uganda). African countries in present day frequently claim that
homosexualitywas brought upon their nations via the import of external ideas during foreign
colonialism. In contrast to this, research has found that a historical existence of homosexuality in
Africa has been depicted by documented accounts of same sex patterns observed by Portuguese and

a half a dozen men at arms and another dozen royal archers escorting Princess Wyrd to the stage.
The Black Princeand the Count were waiting for her on the stage, along with a number of courtiers.
She wore a huntsman outfit, a green leather shirt and a green cloak with tan colored leather pants
and riding boots.
Julie kicked her mule and trotted up to me. The princess isn t letting her brother stand alone in the
spotlight.

March by regiments, move out! The Black Prince shouted. He jumped from the stage looking
disgusted at the outcome. His sister had gotten the better of him.
Commands followed and regimental warriors turn in place facing right, turning their line into a
column. More commands followed and the 1st regiment marched around the rampart with the 2nd
and 3rd following in their own columns of five men abreast. I saw Captain Minetos trot up and
down his column of men, as did the other captains along their own regiments. Soon after the
Prince and his noble escort rode their horses to the front of the column. He is making a show of
it, I thought. I expect the Black Prince to drop back and get in the carriage once it is out of sight of
the city.
Like us, Count Vee and the lancers waited until the army got well ahead of us before departing.
Neither of us wanted to eat their dust. Prince Wyrd carriage followed behind Count Vee s, which
surprised me. I thought she would led the Count s party because of her status, princess before count.
Perhaps the princess wants the lancer protection in the front, I

Impact of Movies
IMPACT OF MOVIES
THE THREE BIG LIES
The three lies that often movies and movie makers say .....
1. It s only entertainment. It does not influence anybody.
2. We just reflect reality. Don t blame us; blame the society.
3. We give the public what it wants. If people don t like it they can always turn it off.
IMPACT OF
Among all media, movies play a major role in impacting the thinking pattern of the society. The
question is whether the influence is positive or negative?
As we all know if a super duper movie is released today then, tomorrow there will be a great
demand of dress of the actor which he wore in the movie. Day after tomorrow people will start
coping the styles in which he talks, walks and behaves. This all means that ... Show more content on

Studies are finding that boys, like girls, may turn to smoking to lose weight. Even the
Bollywood/Hollywood fashion has a huge impact on the youth. When youngsters see their
favorite actors/actresses wearing fashionable clothes and accessories they imitate them. So, to
copy their style icons, they spend thousands to lakhs of rupees to have the same pair of shoes or
dress. They don t mind spending money, but they want to look just as perfect as their favorite
movie star. In this way the fashion statements set by celebrities lay a negative impact on
youngsters. ALCOHOL, DRUGS, SMOKING: Movies are spoiling the youth and children most
because there is the competition between youths to copy the style of the hero either it was good
or bad. Children who watch a lot of movies featuring alcohol are twice as likely to start drinking
compared to other kids who watch relatively few of such films, according to new research. The
more smoking and drinking that young teens see in movies, the more likely they are to start
smoking or binge drink, according to a pair of new studies. To find out more about movies
influence on alcohol use in young teens, researchers surveyed more than 16,000 adolescents ages
10 to 19. They randomly picked 50 box office hits from a list of 655 films. They then asked the
teens how often they had seen each movie, which was color coded for scenes of alcohol use.

Alexander Hamilton Stephens and George Bush
Alexander Hamilton Stephens and George Bush A little, slim, pale faced, consumptive man just
concluded the very best speech of an hour s length I ever heard. So said Congressman Abraham
Lincoln about Alexander Hamilton Stephens.1 Stephens was born near Crawfordsville, Georgia
on February 11, 1812. His mother died shortly after his birth and his father died when Stephens
was only 14. Even in childhood he was amazingly bright and his brilliant mind was noticed by
many mentors who paid for him to attend college. Stephens graduated at the top of his class from
Franklin College and then went on to become a lawyer. Soon after he was admitted to the bar, he

Stephens was an excellent public speaker despite his high pitched girlish voice. Often his views
on slavery were questioned. He was a humanitarian, so his slaves were treated very fairly.
Stephens never jailed of whipped them, and he never separated families. In fact, none of his
slaves ever tried to run away. Also during his term as Vice president, he centered his official duties
on aiding soldiers in hospitals and prisons because he emphasized with them. He himself suffered
from angina, bladder stones, colitis, migraine headaches, pneumonia, pruritis, rheumatoid arthritis,
and sciatica. He was a leader of the moderate faction of Confederates and an advocate of a peaceful
resolution of the war. After the war, he was imprisoned at Fort Warren in Boston for five months in
1865, then released. He was then reelected by Georgians to the U. S. Senate under the terms of
President Johnson s lenient Reconstruction plan. But, Radical Republicans, refused to recognize the
new state governments in the South, so Stephens was not allowed to take his seat. When

The Bloody Massacre In Kings Street Analysis
The Bloody Massacre in Kings Street is an engraving done by the great Paul Revere. The
engraving depicts the British lined up alongside an officer giving an order to fire, indicating that
the British soldiers are the aggressors. He goes on to depict smiles on the faces of some of the
soldiers as if to show they are enjoying this brutal murder. The Bostonair was thick with tensions
between the American colonists and the British leading up to March 5, 1770. This tension began to
brew in the early 1760s, as American colonists began to disagree with the British who thought
themselves to be the superiors. As the decade progressed, the British felt themselves losing their
intimidation factor as American colonists ensued peaceful protests in the streets. On March 5th,
1770, British soldiers are at fault for murdering innocent protesters because, they were practicing
carelessness, assuming a position of false superiority, and enacting a last ditch effort to remain in
control.
As to what happened on the evening of March 5th, 1770, there is a plentiful amount of perspectives
that have been studied for centuries. In the decade leading up to the massacre tensions were high,
and as it is put by Wheeler and Becker, the Massachusetts colony became a hotbed of opposition to
imperial policy innovations (81). There was intense strain on the relationship between the British
and the American Colonists. More specifically this rising hostility honed in between the Boston
residents, and

Is Satire Useful
Satire: Is it useful?
In the modern day there are satirists like John Oliver, Trevor Noah, John Stewart and many others.
These satirists use satire which is used to expose truth behind a concept, like ad s, consumerism,
and the government. One of the oldest examples of satire is A Modest Proposal, written by an Irish
man named Jonathan Swift. It s purpose was to expose the British government for oppressing the
Irish and sarcastically stating how the British eat babies. It exposes how they consume imported
goods made by people from less fortunate countries who die in the process of making their goods.
Satire is useful because it exposes a gruesome topic to an audience so they understand why
something is an issue and it can hopefully ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1) All these were made in factories in other countries, like children in China or children in Africa.
Satirists in the modern age and in 1700 s Ireland have exposed behind the scenes of
consumerism in the higher classes and goods production, and how consumers don t want to
know that so they can indulge themselves, people are dying. Those who are more thrifty (as I
must confess the times require) may flay the carcass, the skin of which, artificially dressed, will
make admirable gloves for ladies and summer boots for fine gentlemen. ( A Modest Proposal, Pg.
15). Jonathan Swift exposes how the higher class in British society are consumers and only care
about there accesories and there goods not caring where they come from, and not much has
changed since then, it s now escalated. Satire raises awareness for the effects of consumerism and
how addicted people are for products and

The Case Of The Exclusive Pink Color Essay
Risks and Impact Risks can vary depending on the specific item that is launched. In the case of the
exclusive pink color introduction of the toy medical kit, the risks associated with this launch will
be somewhat minimized, given the success of the existing green medical kit available to all
retailers. While the riskis minimized with the existing history of the item, the color itself has the
potential to limit the demographics. The medical kit is rated for an age range of three to six
years old. (Fisher Price, n.d.) While this item can be used by all children, pink is generally
viewed as a female specific color choice. Parents may still choose to purchase the green kit to
make it appealing to all children in the family. It may unintentionally limit the amount of people this
specific color would appeal to, thus creating a slower inventory turn. Fisher Price would run this
color in a batch productionbut any unsold inventory creates a liability. Additional risks can be in
the production itself. Toys are in a very regulated industry and any defects in production that are
not within the regulatory standards can be either recalled if they are already being sold to
consumers or cause the entire production run to be discarded or destroyed. Both instances are very
costly but taking the initiative to create a safe work environment that is compliant with all
regulations can mitigate that risk.

Objections To The Adminstrative Process Theory
Croley faces many objections to his administrative process theory. Some objections are in defense
of the public choice theory while others seek to disprove the administrative theory itself. Despite the
outcome of these arguments, Croley seeks to emphasize publically interested regulation is a
possibility according to the administrative process theory and that under the right circumstances it
will prevail. The main claim being there is more not less to the story of regulationthan legislative
control and interest group influence, notwithstanding the inordinate explanatory weight these
factors are usually thought to carry. An initial objection uses the basic argument that a few cases of
regulation successfully advancing the public interest does not undermine the public choice theory.
This theory, known as the straw theory, puts forth the idea that regulation does not always end with
interest groups receiving regulatory rents, but does enough times to draw attention to the
efficiency of the regulation process. The theory should be able to incorporate these few cases.
Croley responds in this case first by explaining the conceptual criticism of the theory would remain
regardless of the analyses of the cases in this particular circumstance. Furthermore, if the theory
were to accommodate those few successful examples of regulation it would not have predictive or
explanatory power because of its inability to rule out any regulatory outcomes. In this case, the

Philip Larkin s Faith Healing Essay
How typical in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification is Faith Healing by Larkin?
Philip Larkin s Faith Healing In 1964, Philip Larkin published his third book of poetry, entitled
The Whitsun Weddings . One of the many critically acclaimed poems was Faith Healing . In this
essay, I intend to explore how typical this poem is in terms of subject, theme, structure and
versification. In Faith Healing, women flock to an American Faith Healer for a blessing. The
persona of the poem is written from an outsider s point of view, looking in at this sight. Faith
Healing is divided into three stanzas, each of ten lines. Iambic pentameter is used to give 5 major
stresses to each of the 10 lines. The three stanzas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By now, all s wrong . It is interesting to note that with all 3 of these poems, Larkin adopts a
personal persona. He is omniscient; in Mr Bleaney, it is as though he is a man looking for
accommodation; in Here, it is as though he is the one on a journey and in Faith Healing, he is
present, observing this spectacle. Therefore, I feel that Mr Bleaney and Here are closely linked
to Faith Healing in terms of structure and versification. Faith Healing is an ambiguous poem
that seems critical of religion. At the start of the poem, many flock to the Faith Healer but by
the third stanza, the 20 seconds with the American seem to have ruined their lives. They have
had their true feelings and emotions unlocked and have realised that they have never really been
loved. An immense slackening ache. Spreads slowly through them . The Faith Healer thaws
these emotions and we see the women suffer a sense of real loneliness and depression as this
reality dawns. This strongly correlates with the theme in Mr Bleaney, a poem exploring
loneliness and the fear in which it evokes. In the poem, we are told of Mr Bleaney s old room
that is cheap and not cared for. The persona explores Bleaney s life. Ironically, he finds he can
identify with him in some respects. So it happens

Health And Safety Performance Through Integration Of...
Various issues affecting health and safety have characterized the construction industry. The
industry is considered as one of the high risk areas of operation both in developed and developing
nations. As such, various efforts have been introduced to help address this problem appropriately.
This paper undertakes a literature review in the issue of health and safetysystems characterizing
construction firms and the diverse management systems they are adopting to facilitate to help them
meet OHSAS 18001 certification standards. It shows that since construction firms have a major
influence on gross domestic product and employment in countries, there is a need to ensure that the
firms operating in this industry meet the health and safety standards needed. The paper embarks a
methodology for measuring the health and safety performance through integration of integrated
management system and the role of initial safety review in allowing firms to follow the
regulations, policies, and standards of operation, which in turn boost their compliance with OHS.
Furthermore, it recommends organizations, such as ABC Company to devise ways of inspecting
results and measuring performance of H S and OHSAS 18001 to ensure that companies realize
increased competitiveness in the marketplace. HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGEMENT

Civil Rights Heroes By Jonathan Kozol
The names Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Langston Hughes, Jackie Robinson, Fannie Lou
Hamer and Thurgood Marshall are all civil rights heroes, not to be forgotten. However, Jonathan
Kozol reveals that the schools he has had experience with that are named after these civil rights
champions are actually dishonoring the dead. Professor Gary Orfield indicates that schools that
are comprised mostly of minority students, less than 1% white, are essentially apartheid schools.
There is a reciprocal action, To give up on integration....requires us to consciously and deliberately
accept segregation (Orfield and Eaton, 20). It is noted that some of the reasons New York has this
problem is due to government enforced school boundaries, housing segregation and non enforced
fair housing laws. Thus, the schools are named after the heroes in a show of respect and honor, yet
their segregation is a dishonor to the namesakes. The racial isolation of the students leaves them
feeling hidden, unwanted and inferior. This is a dishonor to those students and the people who
fought so persistently for equal opportunities.
Among other injustices, some schools in the South Bronx and other areas do not have basic
essentials needed to conduct a safe environment ripe for learning. The apartheid schools are unsafe
and underfunded, lacking enough rooms, chairs, play areas, libraries and enriching programs such
as art and music. The funding disparity is saddening; with the Board of Education

  • 2. The Representation Of Interracial Relationships In the multi cultural society that we live in today, relationships from all different cultures are welcomed. The mixing of races has been going on for hunherds of years and dates back to the unfortunate years of slavery. Where the mixing of white and black was a taboo, but still carried out by the white slave masters on their black maids/ slaves. In this essay I will be looking at the representation of interracial relationships and how these relationships have been portrayed in cinema from 1903 up until present. I will be discussing the how miscegenation has been represented to audiences over the years as a problem, and something that is unnatural. This essay will be anasyling scenes from movies such as Birth of a Nation, and What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was this filmed that sparked the 1927 production code, which was called the Don t and Be Carful s. This production code was a guideline for professionals in the industry, on what was not to be depicted on the screens for audience to watch. The representation of miscegenation was strictly prohibited from the years 1930 1956. This production code was a reflection of the views that were held in society at the time. As cinema is often a reflection of society, miscegenation when it is present in films is often if not always represented to the audience as problematic. The relationships start off great but have a hard time progressing to anything further as, each side has to deal with problems that they cannot relate to, or has issues addressing with their partners. These as these were the views of society at the time, the view that these interracial relationship wouldn t work and were unnatural were projected on our screens to further reinforce the message to the audience. Miscegenation was first shown on screens in 1903, in the film What happened in the tunnel? . Unusually the interracial relationship is not represented in its typical form. There is no physical relationship presented to the audience, miscegenation is presented to the audience when a white man catches the eye of a white woman while embarking on a train ... • 3. Essay about Comapring Porters 5 Forces for the Airline... Assignment # 1 Strategic Practice Exercise: (page #81) 1. Score each competitive force in the airline industry and provide a brief rationale for your assessment. В·Rivalry Among Existing Firms: (High) When one major company in an industry makes a change in costs or services that could potentially increase their clientele, a major competitor almost always follows suit. Price matching is a prime example of that, therefore the threat is high. West Jet is one company that offers flights at a discount and forced Air Canada to create new banners to compete with the discounted prices. All major companies and firms in an industry watch each other s every move very carefully, and match any move with a countermove. During slow season in the airline ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the threat of substitution is a significant factor in the airline industry. However, if a customer has to travel very quickly or a significant distance, that person would most likely choose the flight option instead of a cheaper alternative. В·Bargaining Power of Buyers/Distributors: (Medium) Bargaining power is a tricky one because it can work both ways. Buyers have a certain level of power in any industry. A buyer may switch suppliers very easily if there are no penalties and it is cost effective for them. If a large firm makes a large purchase of goods from another firm, it may be mutually beneficial and if serviced well, have the potential for repeat business. However, the buyer then has the power to use a substitute or competitor which would negatively affect the seller. Buyers are always the more powerful of the two because some buyers have the ability to put pressure on lower costs from suppliers, while demanding an increase of the quality of products or services provided to them. Also, the bargaining power in industries with high fixed costs like the airline industry can play a big factor. On the other hand, things like jet engines, tires and other key safety devices on aircrafts can cause severe consequences if this equipment malfunctions. For that reason, the buyer has a reduced amount of bargaining power with suppliers in this industry. The bargaining power of buyers is both high and low, so I ranked it medium. В·Bargaining ... • 5. Charles Darwin s Life Charles Darwin was an English naturalist, which is now known as a biologist, who is best known for his contributions to the theory of evolution by natural selection and his interest in the Galapagos Islands through the adaption of species. The life of Darwin was highly influenced through his childhood. His family greatly helped Charles with their financial and moral support aboard the H.M.S. Beagle, the voyage [which] took nearly five years, from December 1831 to October 1836. (American Museum of Natural History). In particular, the Galapagos and South America greatly intrigued Darwin, where he discovered species such as the marine iguana, the giant tortoise, the finch, and the blue footed booby (Cappadocia). It was due to the research... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The distribution of plants and animals in the Galapagos was puzzling to Darwin; where did these species originate from? Why don t the same species appear in similar environments? Many species only lived on the Galapagos and sometimes, only one certain island. How did these species end up there? There were species on the Galapagos such as insects and reptiles that resembled some species in South America, but were also different in very slight ways. Darwin began to wonder if species would travel to the Galapagos, and then adapt to their new environments over time. If two species came from a common ancestor, it would make sense for them to live together. For example, Darwin s finches he discovered on the Galapagos had differently sized beaks. These beaks would differ in size according to the area these birds were in their appearance and behavior quickly adapted to this closed and rapidly changing environment. ... • 7. The Pros And Cons Of Assassination As A Tool Of Modern... The changing face of conflict has brought about an evolution on how we conduct and even think about warfare. Gross (2010) states that assassination was once prohibited under the statutes of international law but has increasingly become common in the modern day battlefield. A dilemma is presented when we question is there any ethical basis of using assassination as a tool of modern warfare. There is increasing realization that one cannot engage in war using the conventional means. Terrorismand insurgence being the new methods employed in modern warfare mean fighting using conventional rules puts one at a major disadvantage. The killing of Osama Bin Laden according to White (2012) can be termed as an assassination; it was executed by a special... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Osama bin Laden s case was special since while he was not the head of a government, he was the leader of a terrorist organization that was engaged in terrorist attacks against the United States. And as concluded by White (2012) this notion can be used to support the rationale of using terrorism as a tool of war on some specific special targets. Assassination though is not a just means of engaging in warfare as explained by Gross (2010) since there is no basis of choosing who is a terrorist engaging in warfare and who is not a terrorist. Nelson Mandela was labeled a terrorist by the South African government but he subsequently became a head of state and leader of South Africa. If assassination was used as a tool to eliminate him then it would complicate the justification of assassination as stated by White (2012) as a tool to eliminate terrorists in the event of a war. Mandela transformed from being a terrorist to a Nobel Peace prize winner. Justice cannot be served through assassinations as a method of war. The discretion of whether to use it or not cannot be left to the whims of those in government since they could use it on any of their so called enemies whom they could label as ... Earthquakes With Earthquakes Earthquakes: The Same Effects, but Different Responses Earthquakes occur as a result of the abrupt release of energy in the Earth s crust that creates a series of waves known as seismic waves. Earth quakes greatly affect people whether they are living in economically disadvantaged countries or in economically developed countries. However, the way each of them responds to the hazard is different. The tectonic movements in the earth s crust are the initial causes of earthquakes. These movements bring about forces of tension and pressure, these forces stress up the earth s crust. As the stresses increase, an imbalance in equilibrium of the rocks which results into breaking of rocks and displaced. The energy accumulated during the process is released giving raise to waves. The waves cause vibration of objects they come across with causing a lot of impact on them. This may include shaking and rapture of the ground. As a result there is damage of infrastructure, landslides, fires due to damage caused to electric and gas lines. • 10. The Testament Of The Bible Essay Like many individuals in today s world, not many of us actually know of the true accounts conveyed to us by means of the Bible. Being able to decipher the Bible, in its own way is a task in itself. Growing up as a young child, I had attended church with my grandfather, but back then I was not really exposed to the Bible, as I have been exposed to it by taking this course. The purpose of this assignment, is to research Mosesand the Passover in Exodus 10 15 of the Old Testamentin the Hebrew Bible. By using various resources such as commentaries, dictionaries, and the Bible itself has helped me grasp a better knowledge of Moses and the role that he played within the Bible, as well as the story of Passover. I always knew that Moses was considered to be an important figure within the Bible. But, I never knew exactly how significant he truly remained. Since enrolling in this religion course, I have learned background information, that I never knew previously. The text studied within this course was a brief introduction to the Old Testament discussing the Hebrew Bible in its context. The Old Testament integrates the scared writings of the Jewish belief, that are all inscribed at different periods of time from anywhere around 1200 to 165 BC. The Old Testament positions the foundations for the education and proceedings that transpire in the New Testament. I find it absolutely necessary to study the Old Testament in order to gain the concept of events, characters, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

War causes negative effects on religion, moral values, death and destruction of properties. The morality of war has become a debatable issue in the modern society. This is because of the adverse effects caused by war. Morality in the society is determined by the behavior and character of an individual. For example, society appreciates people having good behaviors as they are viewed as morally right. The society condemns people who have bad behavior as they are not morally right. Morality is made up of several elements like beliefs, values. Morality is important in the society as it determines the character of members in the community. Religion refers to... For example, just theory supports use of war to defend the society or country. Other people believe that war is not morally right and people should not fight. People should not fight to defend their country or society, but they should exercise peace when solving disputes (Gert, 2005). War has adverse effects on a person s personality. Morality means a persons conduct (Gert, 2005). Societies have different moral values. Most societies appreciate people who have good behaviors. The society condemns people who have bad behaviors and as they affect the society negatively (Gert, 2005). War affects the morality of a person negatively. It affects the morality of people who fight during war and the society in general. War does more harm to the moral of people in the society than property and other valuables. The moral evil of war is suffered by people participating in the war and people in the society experiencing the war (Gert, 2005). Most researchers have carried out research to determine if war is moral or not. Most researchers argue that war is not moral because of the destruction it causes to property, lives and moral values. Most people do not support use of war to settle disputes (Gert, 2005). Christians and other people support pacifism. Pacifism is the opposition to use of war to settle disputes. They ... • 13. Holes Character Analysis Stanley Yelnats is the main character in the book Holes, written by Louis Sachar. Stanley is an overweight 14 year old boy who has to spend 18 months at Camp Green Lake, a juvenile correctional facility, because he is wrongly accused for stealing the shoes of the famous baseball player, Clyde Livingston. In the book, the author portrays Stanley as a young boy who is unlucky because of a family curse. However, during his stay at Camp Green Lake, Stanley discovers other traits about himself that he didn t know that he had. In addition to his unlucky trait, bravery and kindness are also characteristics that can be used to describe Stanley. Stanley considers himself an unlucky person. He thinks that he and his family have been cursed because of his no good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather. Stanley is unlucky because he does not have any friends at school, his teachers sometimes make hurtful comments about him, his family is poor, he lives in a small apartment, and his father is an unsuccessful inventor. What makes Stanley feel really unlucky is that he s being punished for a crime he did not commit. Stanley did not steal Clyde Livingston s shoes. He happened to be walking under an overpass when the shoes fell on him. Unfortunately, since the shoes happened to be in his hands when the police showed up, he was found guilty and sent to Camp Green Lake. • 17. Ethical Leadership In The Island And Kurt Vonnegut s The... According to the Oxford Dictionary, Ethical Leadership is leadership that is directed by respect to embrace the ethical beliefs and values as well as the dignity and rights of others. However, not all leaders are driven by their moral principles given that authoritative people can often be selfish and inconsiderate of the people under their control. In The Island, a film directed by Michael Bay, Dr. Merrick, the founder of Merrick Biotech, is in control of secretly bred clones. Similarly, Kurt Vonnegut s All the King s Horses, characterizes a Colonel named Bryan Kelly who dominates sixteen other Americans. A leader s exertion of power to manipulate others is commonly discerned in a negative and invidious way. Nonetheless, this notion is challenged as it pertains to both the film and the story in different ways. Although both works exhibit a leader s manipulation of humans for one s personal gain, The Island portrays a superior, Dr. Merrick as an unethical leader, whereas All the King s Horses shows a manipulator, Colonel Bryan Kelly, who abides the moral principles of an ethical leader. Should thesis specify what makes the leader ethical? The Island manifests an unethical leader, Dr. Merrick, who dictates the lives of the clones, not with the purpose of improving and facilitating the clone s lifestyle, but solely for the purpose of earning a profit. Dr. Merrick is the leader of all the clones and everyone under his control depend on him to keep them healthy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Living in a low income community limits one s standard of living through academic gaps, the selection of food available, an ever present fear of victimization , and a lack of resources available to both children and adults. The differences in academic gaps between children and teenagers from low income neighborhoods and affluent neighborhoods present themselves in the schools the students attend. A study by the Department of Education showed that students in low income areas did not have access to the same rigorous courses, and when they did, the resources available to the low income students was lacking compared to the resources the students in high income neighborhoods had access to. In the low income areas black and Hispanic students were twice as likely to have teachers with less experience, with one or two years in the profession, compared to schools in affluent neighborhoods with well to do white students. Another thing increasing the academic gap is that only 22 percent of local districts reported offering pre kindergarten or other early learning programs for low income children. ... • 24. What Does The Dream Of The Rood Mean The Dream of the Rood is a work which inspires one to think, to contemplate, and to begin to better understand one s own faith. The Rood tells us of its life, from being a tree to being the instrument in Christ s death to its visions after Christ s death, burial, and resurrection. I felt the Rood s agony as it became an unwilling participant in the death of the Lord. The purpose of this poem is to bring the glory back to God, reflecting on his goodness and his purposes in the earth. The dreamer, who heard and recounted the Rood s story, ends with hope in Christ and a hope in the future of everlasting life in heaven. The Rood communicates to the dreamer that God recognizes this type of faith. For its tremendous self discipline and submission to the Lord s will, the Rood gains a rich reward. Just as Christ s obedience to his Father was recognized by God, the Rood s faithfulness is also acknowledged. He stresses the notion that the gift of salvation is so great that it transcends human understanding. The gift of redemption, which assures man pardon of his sins and never ending happiness in the presence of his creator, is so immense that it cannot be fully understood in human terms. On the basis of cultural and ethical concepts valid in this life, man may be able to comprehend part of the mystery of Christ s self sacrifice, but not the fullness of God s grace. India s Tobacco Advertising Ban India s Tobacco Advertising Ban The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that worldwide, five million tobacco users die annually and estimates that one million Indians die each year prematurely from tobacco use (2015). As late at 2009, India was the world s second largest consumer and third largest producer of tobacco (Economist, 2009, p. 5). In an attempt to reduce consumption, India introduced its first adverting ban on tobacco in 1990, followed in 2003 by the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) to close loopholes and further regulate tobacco adverting. This paper examines the arguments for and against these advertising bans and explores whether or not tobacco creates a conflict of interest when governments profit from the tobacco industry. For the Ban The most compelling reason to ban tobacco advertising is the growing body of evidence linking tobacco ads to increased tobacco use, particularly children. Studies following a 1998 settlement prohibiting U.S. tobacco companies from targeting American youth have shown a steady decline, with the lowest levels in forty years of teenage smoking reported in 2015. Despite COTPA, Indian youth s exposure to cigarette advertising has increased in part because of aggressive point of sale marketing, promotional support of music and sporting events, through social media, and smoking portrayed in Bollywood films. The first assault wave would have eight division, close to 80,000 men. Three of the eight divisions, 1 of Britain and two of the United States, would be airborne paratroopers and glider troops that would be dropped at night. The other five divisions would be Infantry divisions and would land on five beaches at the crack of dawn. After the Atlantic Wall had been broken by the first assault and a stable beachhead was obtained, more than thirty nine divisions would rapidly pour in. Capturing a strong hold of a beachhead was crucial to the success of the invasion. The beachhead would need to be able to hold back the inevitable counterattack of strong German forces. A port would have to be seized to be able to supply necessary supplies for land invasion. A strategic drop was to be made at the Contentin Peninsula of Normandy because its North was Cherbourg a major harbor. Abstract To improve the properties of microalgae as sources for biodiesel production, Nannochloropsis oceanica CCAP 849/10 was cultured in f/2 media supplemented with five different forms of nitrogen (NH4HCO3, (NH4)2SO4, NaNO3, NH4NO3 and Urea, 0.88 mmol N lв€’1). The growth, total lipid content, fatty acid profiles of the microalga were assayed after 15 days of cultivation. The results indicated that the growth based on cell number of N. oceanicawas lowest in medium with ammonium nitrate and increased significantly in medium with ammonium carbonate. The microalgae treated with ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate had the highest total lipid contents, which were 90 and 87 %, respectively. The fatty acid profiles of the microalgawas significantly different. The major fatty acids incultures supplemented with ammonium bicarbonate, ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate and urea, C14:0, C16:0, C16:1, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, C20:5 and C22:6 were detected. However in culture supplemented with sodium nitrate, C16:1 had very small peak. • 37. Lgbt Views On Lgbt Rights Movement Essay The LGBT Rights Movement (in which LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender ) dates its beginnings back to almost a century in the United States. The movement aims to bring equality and acceptance on all platforms of life to those who identify as LGBT. Whether it be in the workplace, in school, or even in church, LGBT individuals have historically been discriminated against across the globe. While the overt and systemic discrimination against those who identify as LGBT has subsided significantly over the years in a few regions such as the United States, the entire continent of Africacontinues to struggle. The systemic complexities of African countries (i.e. religion, culture, social climate) have greatly hindered the progression of the LGBT Rights Movement in Africa; the Motherland of Humanity. Throughout African history, many have attempted to justify the discrimination and brutality against LGBT individuals through false assumptions and accusations, research on mental illness, and claims of condemnation from a biblical standpoint (God Loves Uganda). African countries in present day frequently claim that homosexualitywas brought upon their nations via the import of external ideas during foreign colonialism. In contrast to this, research has found that a historical existence of homosexuality in Africa has been depicted by documented accounts of same sex patterns observed by Portuguese and European explorations of Africa. They don t mind spending money, but they want to look just as perfect as their favorite movie star. In this way the fashion statements set by celebrities lay a negative impact on youngsters. • 44. The Bloody Massacre In Kings Street Analysis The Bloody Massacre in Kings Street is an engraving done by the great Paul Revere. The engraving depicts the British lined up alongside an officer giving an order to fire, indicating that the British soldiers are the aggressors. He goes on to depict smiles on the faces of some of the soldiers as if to show they are enjoying this brutal murder. The Bostonair was thick with tensions between the American colonists and the British leading up to March 5, 1770. This tension began to brew in the early 1760s, as American colonists began to disagree with the British who thought themselves to be the superiors. As the decade progressed, the British felt themselves losing their intimidation factor as American colonists ensued peaceful protests in the streets. On March 5th, 1770, British soldiers are at fault for murdering innocent protesters because, they were practicing carelessness, assuming a position of false superiority, and enacting a last ditch effort to remain in control. As to what happened on the evening of March 5th, 1770, there is a plentiful amount of perspectives that have been studied for centuries. In the decade leading up to the massacre tensions were high, and as it is put by Wheeler and Becker, the Massachusetts colony became a hotbed of opposition to imperial policy innovations (81). There was intense strain on the relationship between the British and the American Colonists. More specifically this rising hostility honed in between the Boston residents, and ... These satirists use satire which is used to expose truth behind a concept, like ad s, consumerism, and the government. One of the oldest examples of satire is A Modest Proposal, written by an Irish man named Jonathan Swift. It s purpose was to expose the British government for oppressing the Irish and sarcastically stating how the British eat babies. It exposes how they consume imported goods made by people from less fortunate countries who die in the process of making their goods. • 47. The Case Of The Exclusive Pink Color Essay Risks and Impact Risks can vary depending on the specific item that is launched. In the case of the exclusive pink color introduction of the toy medical kit, the risks associated with this launch will be somewhat minimized, given the success of the existing green medical kit available to all retailers. While the riskis minimized with the existing history of the item, the color itself has the potential to limit the demographics. The medical kit is rated for an age range of three to six years old. (Fisher Price, n.d.) While this item can be used by all children, pink is generally viewed as a female specific color choice. Parents may still choose to purchase the green kit to make it appealing to all children in the family. It may unintentionally limit the amount of people this specific color would appeal to, thus creating a slower inventory turn. Fisher Price would run this color in a batch productionbut any unsold inventory creates a liability. Additional risks can be in the production itself. Toys are in a very regulated industry and any defects in production that are not within the regulatory standards can be either recalled if they are already being sold to consumers or cause the entire production run to be discarded or destroyed. Both instances are very costly but taking the initiative to create a safe work environment that is compliant with all regulations can mitigate that risk. • 48. Objections To The Adminstrative Process Theory Croley faces many objections to his administrative process theory. Some objections are in defense of the public choice theory while others seek to disprove the administrative theory itself. Despite the outcome of these arguments, Croley seeks to emphasize publically interested regulation is a possibility according to the administrative process theory and that under the right circumstances it will prevail. The main claim being there is more not less to the story of regulationthan legislative control and interest group influence, notwithstanding the inordinate explanatory weight these factors are usually thought to carry. An initial objection uses the basic argument that a few cases of regulation successfully advancing the public interest does not undermine the public choice theory. This theory, known as the straw theory, puts forth the idea that regulation does not always end with interest groups receiving regulatory rents, but does enough times to draw attention to the efficiency of the regulation process. The theory should be able to incorporate these few cases. Croley responds in this case first by explaining the conceptual criticism of the theory would remain regardless of the analyses of the cases in this particular circumstance. Furthermore, if the theory were to accommodate those few successful examples of regulation it would not have predictive or explanatory power because of its inability to rule out any regulatory outcomes. Philip Larkin s Faith Healing In 1964, Philip Larkin published his third book of poetry, entitled The Whitsun Weddings . One of the many critically acclaimed poems was Faith Healing . In this essay, I intend to explore how typical this poem is in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification. In Faith Healing, women flock to an American Faith Healer for a blessing. The persona of the poem is written from an outsider s point of view, looking in at this sight. Faith Healing is divided into three stanzas, each of ten lines. Iambic pentameter is used to give 5 major stresses to each of the 10 lines. The three stanzas... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By now, all s wrong . It is interesting to note that with all 3 of these poems, Larkin adopts a personal persona. He is omniscient; in Mr Bleaney, it is as though he is a man looking for accommodation; in Here, it is as though he is the one on a journey and in Faith Healing, he is present, observing this spectacle. Therefore, I feel that Mr Bleaney and Here are closely linked to Faith Healing in terms of structure and versification. Faith Healing is an ambiguous poem that seems critical of religion. At the start of the poem, many flock to the Faith Healer but by the third stanza, the 20 seconds with the American seem to have ruined their lives. They have had their true feelings and emotions unlocked and have realised that they have never really been loved. An immense slackening ache. Spreads slowly through them . The Faith Healer thaws these emotions and we see the women suffer a sense of real loneliness and depression as this reality dawns. This strongly correlates with the theme in Mr Bleaney, a poem exploring loneliness and the fear in which it evokes. In the poem, we are told of Mr Bleaney s old room that is cheap and not cared for. The persona explores Bleaney s life. Ironically, he finds he can identify with him in some respects. So it happens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Civil Rights Heroes By Jonathan Kozol The names Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Langston Hughes, Jackie Robinson, Fannie Lou Hamer and Thurgood Marshall are all civil rights heroes, not to be forgotten. However, Jonathan Kozol reveals that the schools he has had experience with that are named after these civil rights champions are actually dishonoring the dead. Professor Gary Orfield indicates that schools that are comprised mostly of minority students, less than 1% white, are essentially apartheid schools. There is a reciprocal action, To give up on integration....requires us to consciously and deliberately accept segregation (Orfield and Eaton, 20). It is noted that some of the reasons New York has this problem is due to government enforced school boundaries, housing segregation and non enforced fair housing laws. Thus, the schools are named after the heroes in a show of respect and honor, yet their segregation is a dishonor to the namesakes. The racial isolation of the students leaves them feeling hidden, unwanted and inferior. This is a dishonor to those students and the people who fought so persistently for equal opportunities. Among other injustices, some schools in the South Bronx and other areas do not have basic essentials needed to conduct a safe environment ripe for learning. The apartheid schools are unsafe and underfunded, lacking enough rooms, chairs, play areas, libraries and enriching programs such as art and music.
