3. how the stock market crashed Essay
Many factors played a role in bringing about the depression; however, the main cause for the Great
Depression was the combination of the greatly unequal distribution of wealth, banking problem,
industrial power houses and agricultural depression which ultimately lead to the infamous Stock
Market Crash of 1929. The roaring twenties was an era when our country prospered greatly. The
rapid increase in industrialization was fueling growth in the economy, and technology
improvements had the leading economists living that the uprise would continue. During this boom
period, wages increased along with consumer spending and stock prices began to rise as well.

Modern industry had the capacity to prodded vast quantities of consumer goods, but this created a
problem: Prosperity could continue only if demand was made to grow as rapidly as
supply(Heibert 74). People had now been looking away from traditional values such as saving,
postponing pleasures and purchases, and buying only what they needed (Hicks
99). New advertising methods were used to persuade people to buy new products like
automobiles and radios and house hold appliances. The result was rash buying and consumption
which kept the economy going through most of the 1920 s. Three quarters of the United States
population spent basically all of their yearly incomes to purchase consumer goods like food,
clothes, radios, and cars. These were the poor and middle class: families within comes around, or
usually less than $2,500 a year (McElvaine 44).
A good question was why were so many people in the United States invested in the stock market
during this time. One reason was the rising stock dividends. The stock market was propped up by
new investors entering the market , who viewed it as an easy way to get rich quick. However,
economic historians estimate that a relatively small number of Americans, about 4 million, had
investments in the market at any one time
(Kindlesberger 190). The constant influx of new investors coming in and old investors moving out

leadership style and foster genuine followership, learn from what s out there and weave it into
something meaningful and authentic. (Feiner, 2015) For the last two weeks, I have spent time self
analyzing and soul searching to identify the qualities I bring to a leadershiprole. Many of the core
values important to me also align between the participative leadership style and laissez faire
leadership style. These values include working in a team environment, empowering others to
make decisions and providing support for those decisions, keeping an open mind to new ideas

participative/laissez faire leadership style. Mr. Page believes employees should be empowered to

Common characteristics of classical music include strong dynamics, changing rhythms, simplistic
melodies, and homophony (Tomlinson and Kerman 155 158). When focusing on the aria played in
The Shawshank Redemption, one hears the natural use of the voice. We re not asking the voice to
do anything that it really doesn t want to do, and it s naturally dramatic (Greenberg). The
homophonic music accompanies Susanna s aria, but does not over power her voice; it is simple.
The changing rhythms and dynamics express Susanna s emotions as music during the
Enlightenment was considered akin to the motions of the human soul, from which it follows that
music is able to apprehend and convey the impulses and moods of the human soul (Lang 96). These
feelings, however, are not those of the Church or government institution; they are the feelings of a
servant who wants to marry Fiagaro and the Countess, who is conspiring against her husband.
Another introduction in comic opera was the ensemble, a number sung by two or more people
(Tomlinson and Kerman 189). The ensemble allows the characters, Susanna and the Countess, to
express their emotions simultaneously. Musically, the duet in The Marriage of Fiagaro incorporates
the popular characteristics of the Classical period to express the natural emotions of two women.
The Shawshank Redemption is a critically acclaimed movie that addresses topics such as infidelity,

controversial to the usual perspective of a woman since these adjectives are associated with a
man more than a woman. This exhibits that the typical views of what femininity is changed

masculinity but it is used in the poem to describe women. The poem also shows femininity to be
related to toil because Pope mentions a girl who does a milk round in the rain (3). The physical
hard work of the woman is to be revered according to Pope. The imagery of not being caged or

to women. A definitive declarative statement is made in the 9th line of the poem, They re going

their country by being the workforce. The shift in the gender roles is empowering for women
during the wartime and Pope associates this with patriotism as well. The heavy van the girl is

22. The Importance Of The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The American Dream: Is is fact or fiction? In the United States Declaration of Independence, our
founding fathers set forth the idea of an American Dream by providing us with the recognizable
phrase Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness . The green light at the end of Daisy Buchanan s
dock symbolizes Jay Gatsbys Pursuit of Happiness in the novel, The Great Gatsby, set in the 1920s
on Long Island, New York. The American Dream can be defined as the belief that anyone,
regardless of where they were born or what class they were born into, can attain their own
version of success in a society where upward mobility is possible for everyone. The American
Dream is achieved through sacrifice, risk taking, and hard work, not by chance (Fontinelle, Amy).
At the birth of our country in 1776, our founding fathers introduced the American Dream as a
personal desire to pursue happiness; however, the pursuit of happiness was not intended to
promote self indulgence, rather to act as a catalyst to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit. As our
country has changed, the idea of the American Dream, in some cases, has evolved into the pursuit
of one s own indulgences such as material gain regardless of the consequences. As American broke
away from the Great Britain powers, the idea of an American Dream began to take shape. Written
by our founding fathers in 1776, the Declaration of Independence states We hold these truths to be
self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are

23. Maturity In Stephen Crane s The Red Badge Of Courage
Throughout life, everyone goes through experiences that reconstruct them from immaturity to
maturity through circumstances and situations life throws at them. In the beginning of Stephen
Crane s book The Red Badge of Courage he shows us this transformation through the protagonist
Henry Fleming s story. From when he enlists in the army, he is faced with the question of whether
or not he should flee from a battle and struggles to face the issue. The Red Badge of Courageis a
story of Henry s personal struggles with conscience, fear and bravery. Henry, or The Youth as
Crane calls him, goes through a psychological transformation from a naive, cowardly individual to
a mature, brave soldier. The challenges he faces in warhelp mold him into his future self, a national
hero.
The story begins with Henry dreaming of becoming a hero like the Greek gods and enlists in the
army thinking of it as an easy way of turning into a hero. From the first time the thought of
enlisting in the army lingered in Henry s head, his mother was against it knowing he was not fitt
for warfare, but Henry never took heave of his mother s advice. When leaving to the army, she said,

25. The Pros And Cons Of Brexit Referendum
Brexit Could Be Britain s Stepping Stone to A Better Future The Brexit referendum has been a
very controversial topic for the past 6 months. The referendum option surfaced due to the changes
happening in the European Union as an organization. The European Union (EU), formerly known
as the European Coal and Steel Communities (ECSC), is originally created under the vision of
creating a trading agreement which ease the transaction between the members. However, the EU
now not only creates a single market system to ease the trading between members, but also holds
power over the member s government, parliament, and court. Before the crisis in 2008 which is

26. Major Feminist Criminological Perspectives
With the pass of the time, females are more involve in society. The amount of women s that stay
at home and don t go out for work has been reducing. At the same time, we see that women s have
been involved with some criminal events. Because of this, five major feminist criminological
perspectives have been creating. During this essay, three of this perspective will be exposed and
explain. First, these three perspectives will be mention and contrast from each other. Finally, these
three perspectives will be comparing with each other. First, one of the major feminist
criminological perspectives is Liberal Feminism. This attitude can be described as the first feminist
perspective in criminology that focuses on genderdiscrimination. Also, the general notion of this...

In other words, if a woman commits a crime should receive the same punishment that men receive
when he commits the same type of crime. At the same time, these liberal females challenged the
prevailing assumption that males and females have a different role in society. Another significant
feminist criminological perspective is Radical Feminism. This aspect deals with the way in which
the capitalist economic system fosters crime through the creation of a patriarchal and sexist society.
This perspective is that women have to stay at home as an unpaid housekeeping, and men have the
right to control women. In other words, women have to follow all the instructions and rules that her
husband establishes at the house. By this perspective, women s can exercise control over their
bodies and the restructuring family relationship in order to eliminate male domination. However,
radical feminist does not believe that women s liberation will increase female crime rates. Another
important feminist criminological perspective is Socialist Feminism. This view identifies the
oppression of women as a symptom of the patriarchal capitalist system. This aspect considered

All Things Being Equal
Most of us have heard Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream speech, or part of it, at some point
in our lives. In 1964, one year after the speech was given, Lyndon B. Johnson signed Executive
Order 11246, which signaled the birth of affirmative action. Affirmative action refers to efforts to
increase educational and employment opportunities for minorities and women. In November, 1997,
California voters did away with affirmative action [at the state level] by passing proposition 209.
They were convinced that it was no longer needed, that it gave minorities and women special rights.
Governor Pete Wilson wrote in 1996 as part of his campaign against affirmative action:

An example of this fighting over crumbs is the California proposition 209. White people felt they
were not getting jobs, scholarships, into college, because the jobs, scholarships, etc., were being
given to less qualified people of color. Some people of color were also against affirmative action
because they didn t feel like they made it on their own accord but were hired or admitted to
college, etc., because of their skin color and not because of their merits. This inferiority complex is
shared by Richard Rodriguez, an American essayist and teacher. According to the biographical
sketches in Literacies, Despite his academic success, Rodriguez left the university partly because he
was uncomfortable with advantages he felt he received because of his minority status. (Brunk 697)
To understand affirmative action we must look back in history. According to Cornel West,The
fundamental aim of affirmative action was to put a significant dent in the tightly controlled
networks of privileged white citizens who monopolized the good jobs and influential positions in
American society. (Curry 32)

image and the bride of Christ. In order to complete the process and walk in victory we re going
to have to get things right in the church. Let me say it again, if we are to walk in the manifested
power of the Glory of God we have to be transparent, accountable and get things right or God is
going to strip us naked in front of everybody. We must stop perpetrating, be real and keep it real on
this journey. We must take authority over every unclean spirit and everything that s not like God.
Rebuke those spirits! Rebuke the spirit of fear and intimidation in the name of Jesus! Renounce the
spirit of passivity. Renounce the spirit of insecurity, for in your weakness God s strength is
made perfect. Weakness is where the anointing is. We got to speak over ourselves, speak over
our situation: Now God I decree in the name of Jesus that I m walking into health, body, soul and

name of Jesus. Wash me Lord! Satan will not stop the advancement of the church. He will not stop

The House of the Seven Gables: Blood Imagery and Metaphors
Signs of blood imagery and metaphors are traced throughout Nathaniel Hawthorne s The House of
the Seven Gables. This novel was written in the year of 1851. The House of the Seven Gables
was originally depicted as a classic piece and Nathaniel Hawthorne was originally depicted as a
hermit. Why so much blood? What does all of this blood represent? The common man would
assume that this blood simply represents death and being cursed by a wizard . Is that really what
this means? Looking into the depths of the text in this novel, maybe there is a deeper meaning
behind the gore. God hath given him blood to drink! (13). This is the exact sentence that Matthew
Maule, the executed wizard, shouted while pointing at Colonel Pyncheon just before being
executed. From that point on, a curse had been cast upon the Pyncheon blood line. Colonel
Pyncheon had taken over Matthew Maule s estate after the execution. Old Jaffery Pyncheon and his
nephew, Judge Jaffery Pyncheon, were both found dead with blood stained all over their facial hair
and their clothing. This event itself opens up a possible theme for the blood. The blood can stain
clothing and skin, so of course, the curse that Matthew Maule put upon the Pyncheon family has
stained their bloodline. The fact that Colonel Pyncheon sinned in the past while executing Matthew
Maule has ruined the destiny for all of the members of the Pyncheon family to come. (Hawthorne,

Kids are invincible, they believe that they can do anything in the world. The reason kids are like
this and adults are not is because kids have never been told that they cannot do something. That
is why kids run around saying their going to be the president of the United States, because no
one has ever crushed their dreams yet. When you grow up you begin to see whats realistic for
oneself and what is not. Other people shape our perception of ourselves and what we think we can
accomplish. As people grow from being a baby, to an adolescence, to an adult they see how others
treat them and form a self image based on what they think others think of his or hers behaviors and
appearance. This is known as sociologist Charles Cooleyidea of the Looking Glass Self. A persons
looking glass self develops throughout their life time and shapes based on their social
interactions and context of what others think of them. While ages one to five kids are only
surrounded by their primary group. Kids imaginations can run wild and this allows them to
believe that anything is possible. All kids are the same therefore, the social interactions of kids
don t shape their self image until they are older. Unless kids have bad home lives they think they
are the best think ever. But as kids begin to grow and go to elementary school they become more
self conscious. They feel if they dress nicely others will like them more. This is when we start

Fair Value accounting is a measurement application to value assets and liabilities based on current
transactions among buyers and sellers in the market. In other words, the price market participants
pay or receive in an orderly transaction at a certain date. There are different techniques for
measuring fair values depending on assetand market activity. It includes market approach, cost
approach, and income approach. Financial Accounting standards (FAS 157) defines fair valueas the

In contrast, Historical Cost accounting is defined by recording assets or liabilities on its acquired
cost. The nominal value that a company paid for an asset or recorded a liability. This measurement
is based on a cost principal that states to record assets/liabilities at the acquisition value. In this
approach, assets or liabilities are adjusted to its net realizable value in a systematic manner. For
example, depreciation of fixed assets, amortization of intangible assets, and depletion of natural
resources. These rational and systematics approaches to adjust assets value to bring these
instruments to its carrying value, deviating from the recorded historical cost. HCA (Historical Cost
Accounting) and FVA (Fair Value Accounting) measurements techniques are accepted by both
accounting standard setters FASB (Financial Accounting Standard Board) and IASB (International
Accounting Standard board). Under both measurement approaches, there could be significant
differences in reporting, measuring, adjusting, and disclosing values of assets and liabilities. GAAP
(Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (Internal financial Reporting Standards)
mostly apply fair value concepts to financial assets and liabilities up to certain extent. On the other
hand, HCA is usually used for fixed assets e.g. property, plant and equipment. FVA measurements

42. Zen Buddhism Essay
Zen Buddhism was first introduced to China by a South
Indian man called Bodhidharma in around 520 CE. Bodhidharma, according to tradition, was a
man so epic that he removed his own eyelids in order to win a staring contest with a rock wall
(from his severed eyelids sprang tealeaves, and thus, the connection between Zen Buddhism and tea
drinking). The main teaching of Zen is that of zazen, or seated meditation, and that only through
meditation and action, rather than cogitation, can one achieve enlightenment (Elwood, 127 132).
There are two main sects of Zen Buddhism: Rinzai and Soto. Rinzai is the older of the two
schools, and was introduced to Japan by Eisai, a Tendai monk who traveled to China and was

If the new tenzo, or cook, makes a mistake...a senior monk will surely give him a tongue lashing
in front of everyone. The cook will be criticized if the rice is too hard, the soup is too salty, the
vegetables have been cut too small, the tea is lukewarm, the faucet is left dripping (Hori, 13 14).
Hori goes on to say that if Zen Buddhist masters taught rationally, rather than intuitively, a new
cook would be taken aside for a while in the weeks preceding his appointment and shown how to
cook properly. However, in not being taught the proper way to prepare meals, and through being
forced to constantly be mindful of his actions and the effects they will have on the reactions of his
fellow monks, Zen is effectively being practiced.
Another thing that Rinzai and Soto have in common is their effort to keep monastic life simple to
the point of being almost primitive. This includes the use of wood fires, non flushing toilets, no
running water, no heating or air conditioning, and often no electricity. (Hori, 14) By not allowing
the use of modern, time saving innovations, Zen Buddhist monks are forced to spend much more
time focused on simple, day to day activities, again improving the general state of awareness that
Zen Buddhism seems to be all about.
Along the same lines, monasteries have strict, often harsh, rules dictating many mundane aspects of
everyday life. As we saw in the movie,

they will love again. All of these songs, through their lyrics, structure, and rhythm, are all meant to
cope with a person s sadness that results from a break up. Paris by the Chainsmokers is a song that
reflects on the happy side of a relationship that is rarely seen in break ups. The song is essentially
the writer remembering a relationship with fondness. It tells the tale of two young lovers on their
own and in love who eventually break apart. It also touches on happy memories like the lyrics We
were staying in paris,/ to get away from your parents (Chainsmokers, 1 2). By highlighting the
highs instead of lows, it shows the listener that they should not be sad about their loss but happy
that they ever got to experience the joy and happiness that most relationships provide. Almost no
relationships end with happiness but this song shows that it is possible to think happily of a
relationship that has ended. This song also uses higher pitched, electronic music to

44. A M University Memo
Date: June 29, 2015
To:Professor Amanda Renee Rico Texas A M Professor English 210:192 Technical Business Writing
From: Alexander N. Hotze, Texas A M Student
Subject: Recommendation Report for the Campus Maps System at Texas A M University
Following this letter you will find an attached report for my study, Examining and Updating the
Campus Map System at Texas A M University: A Recommendation Report. Working diligently
over the past two weeks, I have completed all six tasks listed in my previous proposal, which was
submitted on June 14, 2015. Following the task areas I set for this report, I was able to come to a
firm understanding of the usage of our current system, observe and evaluate areas of strength and
weakness, communicate with current or potential users, and develop an understanding of the
processes and means of creating a new system.
In an effort to be as thorough as possible, I conducted my own research that consists of both
primary and secondary sources. I reviewed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While interviewing many members of the Texas A M community it was discovered that there is
a strong desire from the younger students when it comes to providing a more interactive service.
However, there was a sort of indifference from the older students as they saw the need for the
application but as they already know the campus well after a few years, they seemed less
enthusiastic regarding the idea of a new system. Additionally, it was discovered that there is some
serious additional start up cost for the creation of a new system that would be compatible on both
computers and smart phones nonetheless, it seems like a necessary expense when it comes to
keeping up with the changing times in this

45. Consumer Driven Health Plans
Running head: THE DOWNFALLS OF CONSUMER DRIVEN HEALTH PLANS
The Downfalls of Consumer Driven Health Plans
Jamiee Coates
Professor Rhonda Bunce
July 27, 2008
Abstract
Healthcare today is a very important issue. Lack of health insurance can affect the health and
productivity of workers. Many people today do not have health insurance. Employment based
health insurance is in high demand to retain employees. The high healthcare costs make it hard for
employers to offer employees quality health plans. The premiums for employers are increasing so
they are forced to opt for cost saving health insurance plans. Consumer driven health plans are on
the rise and have become an option for many employers.
The Downfalls ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Employer contributions to these accounts are excluded from employees taxable income and
individual contributions are tax deductible. (Contribution to HSAs) The amounts that are
contributed by the employers into the Health Savings Accounts for employees are treated as
employer provided coverage for medical expenses. My class reading discuss that most of the
Health Savings Accounts have high deductibles. The deductibles have to be met first so this leaves
the employees with an out of pocket cost for their medical services. Numerous employees with high
deductible plans may postpone medical care and end up with severe conditions that might have
been prevented. Consumer driven health care plans and Health Savings Accounts might turn out to
be another cause for the rise of health care cost instead of the resolution. There is no federal law
that states that employers must offer employees health insurance benefits. Competitive
requirements have resulted in the offering of employee based health insurance plans to employees.
Since employer provided healthcare benefits are the major source of health insurance for most
people for most employees, it is recommended that employers understand what types of health
insurance plans their employees would like. Employers should really listen to better understand
employee s health care needs. They should offer a range of health plans that would fit all of their
employees. Employees would be able to

46. How Is Mr Wolf Portrayed In Little Red Riding Hood
As I am doing my own version of Little Red Riding Hood, I made Mr. Wolf the victim of this world
s cruelty in my story. Mr.Wolf became very nice to Red Riding Hood, because the kind hearted
little girl gave him some meat and a milk, when he is in the verge of starvation.
So, Mr. Wolf helped Little Red Riding Hoodto find the closer way to grandma s little cottage. He
went first, and leaved a mark (idea from hansel and Gretel в є), so that the little girl can follow.
Mr. Wolf found the cottage, but with his excitement to meet the grandma of the nice little girl, he
didn t wait for Little Red Riding Hood to arrive. He knocked on the door and getting ready to give
grandma a wonderful smile and greetings, but the old woman screamed and accused

47. A Research Study On Human Genetics
While some outside of the university setting think researchers within academia do not work, that
could not be farther from the truth. After following Ryan Hernandez, PhD, weekly duties, we saw
that his responsibilities are anything but few.
From family man to professor to researcher, he somehow manages to lead his laboratory of seven
people in their study of genetic variation. He also takes on additional tasks that are outside his job
responsibilities, like serving on several committees.
The population geneticist is an Associate Professor in the UC San Francisco School of Pharmacy,
Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences and serves as a core member in the
Quantitative Biosciences Institute and the Institute for Human ... Show more content on

By understanding what has been done and the holes in our knowledge, we can make steps to
identify ways to fill in those gaps.
The rest of Hernandez s week is filled with joint lab meetings with two other labs that have similar
lines of research that feature a presentation of one researcher s work and a discussion of possible
next steps. These meetings take place on Mondays and last 1.5 hours. Additionally, each year
Hernandez teaches for one quarter. This year he is teaching during the winter quarter and is in the
classroom for twice a week, for a total of three hours per week.
The most enjoyable part of teaching is interacting with students, Hernandez said. I also mentor
some students and post doctoral researchers by helping them develop scientific maturity in their
career development.
Two of the past students that Hernandez taught have completed their PhD s. One now works in the
industry for a startup, and the other is completing their post doctoral fellowship at Stanford
University.
Hernandez is also graduate advisor for the Biological and Medical Informatics Graduate Program
(BMI) and a co primary investigator for the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD)
Grant.
The IMSD Grant is an initiative for maximizing student development through a minority oriented
training grant where we seek to develop and foster underrepresented minorities at the graduate level
at UCSF to ensure that they are given the resources they need to be successful

48. Infertility Fertility Benefits
Infertility is a heart breaking condition, which affects about 15 percent of the population of those
who are trying to conceive. Though the statistics vary, between 30 50 percent of these cases of
fertility are due to the male. This can be because of damaged sperm, low semen volume, or
difficulty maintaining an erection. Though infertilityis more common in older males, it can happen
to men of younger ages too. Many couples become so desperate to have a child that they turn to in
vitro fertilization after a year or more of trying with no success. This is very expensive though. A
much less costly option is to try fertilitysupplements instead. Some of the most popular ones to
take are the following:
L Arginine
This amino acid has numerous health benefits because of its ability to improve blood flow and
relax constricted blood vessels. Many heart patients take it to help prevent another heart attack
from occurring if they have previously had one before. Just as it helps increase heart flow
through the heart, it can do the same for a man who is struggling with maintaining an erection.
More blood flow to the genitals also increases their libido, and the more a couple has sex, the
more likely conception can take place. L Arginine also has a positive effect on sperm quality and
production. When taken by a man who has intercourse with his ... Show more content on

Not only does it improve their immune system, but it also reduces obesity, which is a major
contributor to infertility. The fatty acids within coconut oil balance a man s hormone levels too.
This is especially important for those who have low testosterone or androgen, which could be
affecting their sexual health. It is very important to mention that coconut oil should be taken only
as a supplement internally if one wishes to increase fertility. If it is applied externally to the genital
area during sex, it can reduce sperm count and the likeliness of

Fig. 3.1 Fingerprint scanning
Minutia points represent positions where friction ridges end abruptly or where a ridge branches into
two or many more ridges. A typical good quality fingerprint template contains 20 70 minutiae
points; the actual number depends on the size of the finger sensor surface and how the user places
his or her finger on the sensor. The system stores the minutiae information position and direction
along with the user s demographic information as a template in the enrollment database. During the
identification phase, the user puts the finger on the same sensor, generating a new fingerprint image
or template called query print. Minutiae points are carried out from the query print, and the matcher
module compares the set of query minutia with the stored minutia templates or image in the
enrollment database to find the number of similar minutia points. Because of variations present in
finger placement and pressure applied to the sensor, the minutia points take out from the template
and query fingerprints must be lined up, or submitted before matching. After line up the
fingerprints, the matcher decides the number of pairs of matching minutiae two minutiae points
that have similar location and directions. The system decides the user s identity by comparing the
match score to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

50. Analysis Of The Movie Hot Seat
A former hacker is trapped in his office with his chair wired to explode if he stands up and in
order to survive he must hack his way into a computer mainframe to open a vault for an unseen
assailant.
STORY COMMENTS
HOT SEAT is a well written thriller that fully engages the audience. It s the type of script in
which one feels as if they are watching the film. The plot is similar to the concepts used in SPEED
and in the film PHONE BOOTH.
In this story, the protagonist finds himself trapped in his office and forced to remain seated in a
chair wired by a bomb. If he stands up, the bomb goes off. The hero is forced to hack his way into
a complicated mainframe to open a vault for a mysterious assailant. To raise the stakes, his family is

He s proactive with trying and failing. There s a nice twist with the reveal of the perpetrator and a
nice climax at the end except for the perpetrator strapping a bomb vest on an 8 year old. This could
be highly disturbing to the audience. Even though the idea of the other right is skillfully set up,
there s a taboo about exploiting children and seeing an explosive vest on a child could dissuade a
producer.
With that said there are other areas worth discussing for possible revisions. However, even without
these possible revisions, the script feels marketable.
The first area worth discussing is the opening scene in central park and the hot dog cart. It s
creative and interesting choice, but highly unrealistic. When first read, one was not sure of the
tone, especially with the description of processed guts and yumminess. A more realistic scene
doesn t involve a hot dog cart, but simply people strolling in the park, and perhaps some teens or
a homeless person find something like a box and it s a bomb. The idea of the bomber going to the
trouble of getting a hot dog cart is more for dramatic purposes than realistic.
The scene between Jackson and Wally on page 2 isn t the most engaging i.e. their dialogue. What
works is the subtext about Life is chess. You better have a plan A, B, and C, or game over. On
page 28, again, their dialogue doesn t fully engage.
On page 3, a frantic officer tells them that there s an explosion in central park, and then on page 28,
