Neanderthals
Ever since Neanderthals have been discovered they have been misunderstood. From their name,
physical traits, and their brain power we have misrepresented them in our novels, comic sketches,
cartoons, movies and even in scientific literature for a while. Recently in the past couple of
decades we have been gaining a better perspective of them through advancements in technology
and scientific methods. Here we are going to discuss some of the evidence that led our ancestors to

Nathaniel was an American writer who was born in Salem Massachusetts, with a long New
England history. Nathaniel s original name of the family was Hathorne, he added a w to
distinguish himself from his family history. His relative was a prominent judge in the Salem
witch trials of 1692 1693. Nathaniel grew up from the upbringing of his mother. His father, a sea
captain, died of yellow fever in Suriname. His uncle Robert Manning, help Nathaniel and his

On October 30th, we had our sixth presentation of this course. We are getting close to the end of
the course with two lectures left. The lecturer, this time, was Goucher s computer music professor
Samuel Burt, with Lisa Weiss helping him. According to his bio, among his title as a professor,
Samuel Burt is a composer. He had a Bachelors of Musicfrom the University of Georgia. Then, he
received a Master of Music from Peabody Institute for composition and computer music. He is a
member of the High Zero Foundation and has participated in the High Zero Festival. This
foundation is a way of showcasing experimental and improvised music in Baltimore. He
participated and performed in the Red Room series and the Worlds in Collusion at Artscape. To
add to his repertoire, he builds and sells daxophones, which are wooden friction based
instruments. He also creates/designs his own electronic music software that we had the chance to
experience for ourselves in his lecture. Before the lecture, Burt had been tinkering away at the
computer to make sure that everything was perfected beforehand. He then had us introduce

Today the majority of our farm bill is dedicated to food assistance programs. In 2013 through the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP) the U.S fed 47.6 million citizens at the cost

Bag #4 had a 40% solution of sucrose and was red. Bag #5 was half filled with pure water with
no coloring. Bags 1 5, where all half full with the described solutions, then tied close. Also,

grams on the scale, all bags where then placed into their respective beakers. They were weighed at
15 minute intervals, for a total of 60 minutes. Upon weighing all the packets where rinsed and
dried thoroughly to prevent any additional solution or water to cling to the exterior of the bags, the
results were recorded in Figure 1.

The idea of mental imagery has always been a controversial subject in the field of psychology.
Many psychologists have argued that such a concept is impossible to measure because it can not be
directly observed. Though they are right about this, it is not impossible to measure how quickly
mental rotations of images are processed in our brains. Subjects in this experiment were presented
two shapes simultaneously, via computer screen, and asked to make judgement, as quickly as

Of the 66 students 30 took part in the mental rotation condition and 30 in the manual rotation
condition.
As expected, findings showed that there was in fact a strong relationship between the reaction times
of the mental and manual rotations. As the angular disparity of both the mental and manual
rotations increased so did reaction times. In almost all cases manual and mental reaction times
matched each other. It was also observed by Wohlschlager amp; Wohlschlager (1998), that manual
object rotation did not always follow the shortest path. Findings showed that in some trials students

I was drawn to this song after first hearing it in the 1965 musical film, The Sound of Music.
Although it is a unique twist from the original with improvisation, I enjoyed the bouncier and
more upbeat tempo in Coltrane s interpretation of the song. There is an introduction in the song
followed by Coltrane s solo at 0:18 2:01. This solo played in A begins the melody and is supported
by the repeated rhythm of the pianowhich sets up the rest of the piece. He plays A and vamps in
