Essay For Smoking
Writing an essay on the topic of smoking can be a challenging task for various reasons. Firstly,
the subject itself is controversial and multifaceted, encompassing health concerns, social
implications, and individual choices. Navigating through the vast amount of information
available, including scientific studies, personal anecdotes, and societal perspectives, requires
careful consideration.
Addressing the health aspects involves delving into the intricacies of the impact of smoking on
physical well-being. The writer must sift through medical research, statistics, and potential
counterarguments to present a comprehensive view. Moreover, conveying the emotional and
psychological aspects of smoking, whether exploring addiction or the reasons behind the choice
to smoke, adds an extra layer of complexity.
Incorporating social perspectives requires an understanding of cultural norms, public policies,
and the ongoing discourse surrounding smoking. Analyzing the influence of tobacco companies,
anti-smoking campaigns, and legislative measures involves extensive research and critical
thinking.
Additionally, framing the essay in a way that engages the reader and communicates the
importance of the topic is essential. Striking a balance between informative content and
persuasive elements is a delicate art that requires a deep understanding of the audience's mindset.
Despite these challenges, writing an essay on smoking can be a rewarding experience. It offers
the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on a significant societal issue and
encourages personal reflection on one's stance.

How To Braid Essay
How to blend natural hair with braids
Whenever it becomes necessary to blend braids with your natural hair, the first step is
to ensure that you choose extensions or braiding hair that closely matches your own
texture. Alternately, it is possible to manipulate your own texture to match those of
the extensions, such as doing a braid out or twist out to obtain a texture that would
blend well with curly extensions. If the extensions are straight, it is also possible to
stretch and straighten your natural hair using heat free methods. Ensure that you
consider any blending that might need to be done when considering a braided style to
install.

Natural hair braids, as point out before are great ways to protect the hair and style
it in a visually interesting manner. As long as braids are installed in a manner that
does not apply tension to the hairline or any other part of the hair and scalp, then
braids are a great way of promoting hair growth. Always prepare the hair for braiding
by deep conditioning to replace moisture and moisturise frequently while wearing the
style to ensure that hair continues to thrive. Happy hair
Character Analysis of Yossarian in Catch 22
Yossarian is the main character of Catch 22, and one of just a few characters that get
fleshed out during the story. Yossarian represents many of the themes and ideas of
Catch 22, and provides a character that most people can sympathize with. Yossarian
is continually worried about dying but at the same time continues to fly his missions
so someone else doesn t have to fly his for him. Yossarianthinks he is sane while
everyone else is crazy; however everyone else thinks the exact opposite. He is also
seen as different because of name, as nobody has heard it before. The battles of life
versus death and sanity versus insanity are some of the things that define Yossarian
while he himself represents the psyche of a soldier during war.
Yossarian is described as a big burley Assyrian man. His appearance makes him
markedly different from the rest of the people in his squadron and is one of the
ways that he is seen as an outsider by the rest of the squadron. In addition to his
appearance, his name also makes him stand out, as it is completely different from
everyone else s and no one has ever heard it before Yossarian himself. These
differences alienate him from the rest of the squadron, save for a few of Yossarian s
close friends, and make it seem like Yossarian is special in some way, even though it
is revealed that he is not really much different than the rest of the squadron.
Even though Yossarian is different in physical appearance and name then the rest of
the squadron, it is

Killer Queen Description
Killer Queen by Queen is very intriguing to me for one big reason, depending on
how I look at the lyrics; I cannot decide whether the song is about a classy prostitute
or a homosexual man; however, before going into this ambiguity, I must establish
some background for the song and its history. Queen is a British rock band formed
in 1970; at the time of this song being written, the lineup was: Freddie Mercury, on
lead and backing vocals; Brian May, on electric guitar and backing vocals; Roger
Taylor, on drums and also backing vocals; and John Deacon on bass guitar. Though
the band started out with heavier rock, this song marked their transition towards a
more glam rock or pop rock tone of music; a change that proved extremely successful

As an example we can look at the first verse; it opens by informing listeners that
this queen keeps a very fancy wine (MoГ«t et Chandon) in her cabinet, showing
that she is a person who wants to come across as refined and fancy, and then moves
into saying that she recites the famous Let them eat cake quote, Just like Marie
Antoinette , the queen of France before the French Revolution. This line is where
it starts alluding to the fact that she is not simply the refined and high class lady
she appears to be. Marie Antoinette is famously misattributed to that quote, and
while initially well received and liked by the French populace, people grew to
dislike her and accused her of being promiscuous in addition to other accusations.
So while the line seems to just be painting her as a refined person, it is actually
alluding to her true nature. The song goes on in many other lines to describe this
Killer Queen ; she appears to be a high class woman who is at times, as Mercury
himself put it, a whore. This forms the basis of the most accepted (and perfectly
valid) interpretation of the song; however, as it is already well accepted, it is not the
interpretation I would like to focus on getting

TITLE AND CITATION: Parker v. Levy, 417 U.S. 733 (1974)
TYPE OF ACTION: Levy was sentence to three years to prison and appealed his
case in violation of the First and Fifth Amendment, which his request was denied by
the District Court but the Court of Appeals overturned, holding that article 133 and

FACTS OF THE CASE:
Howard Levy, a doctor and high commander of the Army he was instructed as a
Chief of the Dermatological Service of the United States Army Hospital at Fort

Mis589 Wk4 Mini-Case Mega Corp
MIS589_WK4_Mini case MegaCorp_PC
Questions:
MegaCorp is a large manufacturing firm that operates 5 factories in Dallas, 4
factories in Los Angeles, and 5 factories in Albany, New York. It operates a tightly
connected order management system that coordinates orders, raw materials, and
inventory across all 14 factories. What type of WAN architecture and WAN service
would you recommend? Why?
Recommendations:
When designing a WAN, numerous factors must be considered. Organizations
attempting to connect multiple factories or offices and remote personnel must take
into account a number of variables that will impact overall costs and network
functionality. When designing and implementing wide area networks (WANs) that
integrate voice, video, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So therefore, based off the information provided, I would recommend a packet
switched architecture, or more specifically a Frame relay with a CIR 45 Mbps WAN
service. Frame Relay is packet switched data link layer protocol that handles multiple
virtual circuits using High Level Data Link Control (HDLC) encapsulation between
connected devices. (Cisco, 2005) In many cases, Frame Relay is more efficient than
X.25 and generally less expensive than ATM. Also the data provided does not
suggest that MegaCorp specifically has needs for the extensive QoS information
that ATM provides that would enable the setting of very precise priorities among
different types of transmissions such as high priority for voice and video and
lower priority for email. If the company were a consulting firm with a high
propensity for needs on bandwidth because of video conferencing or high
bandwidth requiring applications then perhaps ATM architecture with a T1 or T3
WAN service might be more suitable. Even though MegaCorp is a large
manufacturing firm recommending Ethernet services might prove to be too
expensive of a proposal as well and thus causing us to lose the project. The cost
associated to having each factory connected by fiber optic cables to the provider s
city wide MAN backbone plus the cost of the Ethernet switch might not be justified
by the company s bandwidth needs.

intransitive verbs in list B such as resit, rego, relapse,...
C. When re is attached to a word or stem, the part of speech of the resulting word or
stem still remains. For example: do : a verb( redo is also a verb.
D. In general, adding the prefix re to a word or stem, the meaning changes indicate

High School s Peer Mentorship Program
Weston High School s peer mentorship program provides a constructive relationship
for students with intellectual challenges that helps them navigate through the
obstacles of high school. The main focus of a mentor is to help make the mentee
comfortable in an environment that is exceptionally stressful for them. In the school
setting, people with Autism, specifically Asperger s Syndrome, experience a multitude
of issues because they might have a sensory overload and struggle to socially interact
with their peers. As a mentor, you need to stay with your mentee throughout the
school day and help guide them through any problems that arise, while also
attempting to prevent any tantrums. The main goal of your relationship with your
mentee is to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many ways to successfully aid them in making it through the class period,
including providing the mentee with consistency by supplying them with a schedule
that outlines the structure of the class. People with Autism or Asperger Syndrome
crave consistency, structure, and predictability and if these elements are not present,
they will mentally breakdown. Likewise, there is an underlying routine for every
class period, even though a new subject is constantly taught by the teachers. As a
mentor, it would be beneficial to create a schedule for the mentee, so, therefore, the
structure and order that they crave is evident in the classroom environment. For this
reason, the student might begin to feel comfortable, which would allow them to have
a greater capability to focus on the specific tasks. In addition, another way to help the
mentee in the classroom setting is to break down the information that was taught or
attempt to present it to them in a different manner, if they do not understand it.
Students with Autism or Asperger Syndrome sometimes struggle to understand the
lesson as they cannot process the way the teacher has expressed it to the class. It then
might be harder for them to complete an assigned task about that topic and by
breaking it down, they will be able to complete more work. Also, there are many
advantages to presenting the information to them in a different manner, including
Corporal Punishment Should Be Taught Essay
Corporal is derived from the Latin word corporДЃlis bodily which is equivalent to
corpor meaning, of the human body; bodily; physical , as defined by the dictionary.
The Merriam Webster dictionary defines corporal punishment as, punishment that
involves hitting someone: physical punishment . The Committee on the Rights of the
Child in the General Comment No. 8 defines corporal or physical punishment as, any
punishment in which physical force is used and intended to cause some degree of
pain or discomfort, however light. Most involves hitting ( smacking , slapping ,
spanking) children, with the hand or with an implement; in the view of the
Committee, corporal punishmentis invariably degrading. The negative psychological
consequences that stem from corporal punishment far outweigh the positive results
that have been recorded over the centuries corporal punishment has been used; rather
than enforcing corporal punishment to teach students to behave more appropriately
in the classroom, educators should be taught new ways to handle different behaviors
within the classroom without resorting to violence.
Corporal punishment is used as a mechanism for controlling behavior in more than
just the education system. Although corporal punishment is commonly associated
with the education system as a means for punishing school children in modern times:
corporal punishment is in no way limited to punishing children and is commonly used
towards adults. Corporal punishment has been

Situations I thought I wouldn t be in and there I was. Junior year, I did it. There s

band. I loved watching the band, and every show I was fascinated by the majorettes. I

I was happy, I had what I wanted to do, I made a goal for myself and I had reached

were still playing instruments. Every single practice we would go down far away
from everyone else and they would have me work on the same things by myself all
the time, while they did other things. If I didn t get something right away it was
assumed I wasn t going to get it at all. If I asked to be shown something a different
way, I was yelled at for not understanding. I went from loving the majorettes to hating
them, wanting to be like them, to hoping I never was like that. Band camp was
horrible, plain and simple. They gave me two days to learn everything and since
they came up with everything they already had it down. I had two awful panic
attacks that week, one while we were on the field. The other three acted like they
hated me and it wasn t subtle. I couldn t do anything with them, and I could barely
talk to them without them being patronizing. Practices continued. Nothing changed;
except for me. I kept going, I didn t let them win and I didn t quit. Now the
moment: the first game. I wasn t as nervous as I thought I d be. I felt that since I
had made it so long already with dealing with the three that I could get through

Child soldiers is an inside look at the widen existence of armed children who
participate in hostilities. In this study, Professor Goodwin Gill and Dr Cohn
emphasize the ways in which international humanitarian law fails to provide effective
protection, particularly in the internal conflicts, examine the consequences of
children participation in armed conflicts and provide factual suggestions for
preventing the recruitment.
More analytically, the authors examine all the aspects that lead children to bear arms
by focusing on conflicts in Guatemala, Israeli, El Salvador, Sri Lanka and Liberia.
The book firstly responds to the question of what the child is and secondly to what
are the reasons for children participating in armed conflicts. At the end, significant
suggestions are given on how to prevent and halt the recruitment of children into
armed groups.
The authors, Professor Guy Goodwin Gill and Dr Ilene Cohn, are two eminent
lawyers whose work on Child soldiers was commissioned by the Henry Dunant
Institute, the research centre of the Red Cross movement in Geneva. It is probably
not coincidence that this book was launched in 1994, three years after the Conference

The Power Of Fate In Romeo And Juliet
There are many powerful forces on this earth. It can permanently affect a person s
life, whether it be fortunate or atrocious. Romeo and Juliet illustrates the lives of
two young star crossed lovers who take their lives together after they discover that
their affection will never be compatible. They are lead to believe that they love
each other, and though love is a strong element in life, love is not what drove them
to meet each other, or eventually kill themselves. It is fate that wrote their lives
like a book, and its fate that decided when to write the last page of that book. Fate
is the development of events beyond a person s control, regarded as determined by
a supernatural power. It is the force that is more powerful than any element of
human nature on earth. No one can surpass/change it; it is impossible to try to
erase the words of your story. Fate is inevitable, and whether it is good or bad, you
must accept it. In Romeo And Juliet, Romeo tries to accept the fate that draw him
and Juliet apart, but at the end of the book, he tries to defy fate, saying Then I defy
you, stars (Act 5, Scene 1, Page 266), then takes his life. However, fate is so strong,
that by killing himself trying to defy fate, he actually followed its guidelines. In
Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare uses characterization and foreshadowing to
illustrate that it is human nature to recognize that life is controlled by fate, and good
or bad, it cannot be changed. Fate acts quickly in the play.

What Is The Similarities Between The Scarface And The...
I. Introduction
Scarface is a crime drama film that is famously known for being one of the most
violent and profanes films during its time of release. Focusing on the rise of Tony
Montana (Al Pacino) on the criminal ladder and becoming more psychotic as his
career as the leader of his drug empire progresses, leading to his eventual downfall.
Directed by Brian de Palma, written by Oliver Stone and with performance of the
cast with the lead Al Pacino, Scarface became a cult classic among the masses.
The Godfather is a mob film focuses on the Corleone Family, with its head Vito
Corleone (Marlon Brando) trying to find a suitable heir to his empire, while war is
breathing down the neck of other crime families. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) then
steps in to organize the family back to shape. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and
based from the novel of the same name written by Mario Puzo. It received critical
acclaim by critics and was cited as an influence by real life mobsters due to its rather
realistic portrayal of gangster life and Cosa Nostra.
Even with the similarities of theme, both movies have a parallel between how it
portrays itself, and it further widens the gap due to its difference of timelines.

1.When comparing Alfred Binet and Lewis Terman on their approaches to
intelligence testing there are some similarities amongst the two. One such similarity
would be regarding content. Alfred Binet s approach to intelligence testing consisted
of tests that ranged in difficulty levels from easy to hard. These tests required one to
demonstrate his or her own cognitive ability, decision making, and verbal skills.
Lewis Terman s approach to intelligencetesting was an updated version of Binet s.
Terman also used cognitive ability, decision making, and verbal skills in his testing;
however, he added mathematics, attention span, and processing skills. However, their
purposes for intelligence testing were quite different from one another. Alfred... Show

This view believes that the body and mind are two separate entities from each
other, and that they function separately from each other. Lewis Terman s view of
philosophy was that of pragmatism, in which it relies on more of a practical
nature. This view believes that principles of merit should be based solely on one s
workability, effectiveness, and practical ideas. Technical advances for Alfred Binet
would be the fact that he had measures ranging in different difficulty levels. Binet
also had a proper scoring technique in which he matched an individual s mental age
with their actual physical age. Alfred Binet did not create a suitable standardization
model. Lewis Terman created a way for Alfred Binet s intelligence test to be
standardized. He included a measure of intelligence quotient and renamed it the
Stanford Binet Intelligence Test. Lewis Terman s technical advances also shone a
light on individuals that scored in the extreme areas.

from Harvard, he believes that SAT s should be the only basis for admissions to the
elite ivy league schools today. Pinker feels that standardized testing is the key to
creating the best graduates. Steven Pinker goes on to say that standardized testing
will eliminate the students who do not belong in an ivy league school, and that have
no academic standing. I do not agree with Steven Pinker s

manage this secured LAN, via VPN, for our customers by outsourcing servers and

How Did John Kramer Overcome Jigsaw
John Kramer (also known as The Jigsaw Killer or simply Jigsaw) is a fictional
character from the Saw franchise. He is portrayed by American actor Tobin Bell.
As opposed to other killers, Jigsaw does not actually intend to kill his subjects. The
purpose of his traps are to see if the subject has the will to survive, hoping their
experience will teach them the value of life and save them from their own demons.
Prior to Becoming Jigsaw, Kramer was a successful engineer as well as a devoted
husband to Jill tuck, who ran a recovery clinic for drug users. Jon and Tuck were
both expecting their first child, Gideon. Unfortunately, she was assaulted by an addict
named Cecil Adams, resulting in miscarriage. This incident changed John s outlook

Carbon Nation
Carbon Nation is a film on the solutions to the problem of climate change. The
documentary shows the advantages of tackling climate change, including a healthy
and safe environment, an improved economy and enhanced state and energy defense.
The film is meant for those who have over the years lost interest in matters
concerning global warmingand its effects on our world. The movie highlights that
climate changeis an issue to be deeply concerned about, but at the same time, people
have the necessary tools to improve the situation. It has been noted by scientists and
environmentalists all over the world that the problem of climatechange is causing
natural disasters such as hurricanes and tsunamis. If not addressed immediately and

Carbon Nation opens up with what can be done about climate change. It does not
dwell on its causes or its existence. The main topic that has been highlighted in the
movie is the fact that it is a time that we as humans look for alternative renewable
energy sources and stop depleting fossil fuels. Alternatives proposed are such as
wind power or solar panels, all of which are renewable. The movie is especially
informative on what we can do to lessen climate change. It provides hope that there
is still a lot that can be done to save our environment. It is not enough to say that there

lessons that have impacted my career in the military Lesson 7 Too often in

Banking Concept of Education Essay
Banking Concept of Education
Philosopher and educator Paulo Freire once said, Education either functions as an
instrument which is used to facilitate integration of the younger generation into the
logic of the present system and bring about conformity or it becomes the practice of
freedom, the means by which men and women deal critically and creatively with
reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of their world. In Freire
s work of the Banking Concept of Concept , he describes how the education system is
failing to help student find success in the real world as well as it provides a
framework for the teachers to oppress the students through the distribution of power.

The oppressors act upon any attempt to chance this system as this situation is quite

Thus they react almost instinctively against any experiment in education which
stimulates the critical faculties and is not content with a partial view of reality but
always seeks out the ties which link one point to another and one problem to another.
(Freire 9)
Freire shifts his focus to talk about the current consciousness state of the students.
The consciousness of the students is the key to keeping them oppressed, by being
able to change their consciousness it makes the students easier to control.
To solve the problem plaguing the education system, Freire offers a solution which
involves a problem posing education . In this system the roles of teachers and
students become mixed and left more open to interpretation. Both the teacher and
student actively participate in effective communication to gain an understanding of
the information being taught instead of just memorization. According to Freire,
Knowledge emerges only through invention and re invention, through the restless,

The Circle Dave Eggers
This is not a Fairy Tale: An Analysis of The Circle by Dave Eggers
The fairy tales passed down from generation to generation have planted the idea of
an happily ever after in the head of every developing child. Since then human
beings have been hardwired to strive for their own personal happy ending. We are
so fixated on this idea that we expect every story to end well, and when it doesn t
we feel cheated. Maybe happy endings should be reserved solely for the children s
fairy tales. While some readers may argue that stories with a positive ending provide
a more clear resolution, I would argue that the clear resolution that comes with happy
endings is not always what readers need to feel whole. The completeness you feel in
response to a story often comes from an important lesson that changes your outlook or
perception. The greatest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Father And Son Relationships In The Odyssey
The Bond Between Father and Son Father and son relationships in The Odyssey
are very important. This novel tells us the story of the hero Odysseus and his
journey back home after the Trojan War. His complications start after the fight
when he is on his way back. On his journey home, he encounters multiple
challenging obstacles. However, Odysseus and the gods are determined to get him
back home to his son. In The Odyssey by Homer, we see the importance of father
and son relationships between Poseidon and his son Polyphemus and Odysseus and
his son Telemachus and we can see which aspects of the relationship that the Greeks
valued. Several things that happen in this book are a result of what the father and son

When Odysseus fulfills his prophecy and blinds Polyphemus, he prays to his father
to grant him revenge on Odysseus by either never letting him reach his home, or if
he must, let him come late after long suffering, with all of his comrades dead, and
let him find trouble waiting for him at home on page 110. Poseidon hears his
prayers and creates a storm that nearly kills Odysseus on page 60. The Greeks may
value Poseidon s drive to avenge his son because this shows that he wants to
defend his son and hurt those who have done wrong to him. They may also value
that Polyphemus could depend and trust his father to carry out revenge on
Odysseus. The relationships between Odysseus and Telemachus and also of
Poseidon and Polyphemus in The Odyssey gives us several examples for the
aspects in which the Greeks valued in father son relationships. If you think about it,
people admire similar aspects today. Fathers can still be relied upon to defend their
sons and are motivated to help raise them into good men. However, we can compare
them to how we view father and son relationships today and see how they may have
changed and why. Nevertheless, the bond a father has with his son can impact the
lives of them and the people around them

Yellowstone was made popular because it made a lot of sense at the time, but she

Yellowstone was collected throughout many years of observation and trials, but it is

Conqueror Of Basketball
The Conqueror s Sport: Basketball
There is no question as to the immense and still growing popularity of basketball as
one of the major competitive sports in the world. There is almost no major country in
the world without an official team participating in the Federation Internationale
Basketball (FIBA) leagues nowadays. Our own country, the Philippines, loves the
sport with a passion.
For all those unfamiliar with the sport (which are very hard to find nowadays),
basketball is a two team game, composed of five players per team, with the goal of
scoring the most points in a given amount of time. A score, or a field goal in
technical terms, is made when the basketball is shot through a hoop, or a basket. The
team with more points after 48 minutes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these countries were colonies, and some were just close neighbors. But
nevertheless, this shows that America has been affecting neocolonialism on countries
through basketball, and is most prominent on countries which America has had
influence on. And observations have been made to prove these
claims.Topendsports.com, a website that performs sports related surveys, conducted
a study on the popularity of basketball per country. What s interesting is that the top
five of the list are USA, Philippines, Canada, Australia, and Iran, most of which have
had deep connections to America in their respective pasts. The Philippines was a
colony of the States. Canada is the closest geographically to the US. Iran was
involved with the US during that Iraq thingy. As for good ol Aussie, their culture has
some semblances to American culture.
The point is, there seems to be a connection between the popularity of basketball in a
country to the eventuality of interaction between them and America. That in itself is
one of the proofs that basketball has a connection to American Neocolonialism, that
the continuity of a country s influence is maintained by assimilation of a part/s of its
culture, in this case,

What Is Lyra s Journey Of Growing Up
Growing up isn t as easy as it seems, it s a very difficult process that we go through
in our life. Like from the novel Northern Lights by the author Philip Pullman, Lyra
became her own individual once she went against her mother and said no to the
separation she wasn t as innocent as we would had thought. All children grow up
but some people as they get older they grow apart from their inner self, from who
they really are either to fit in to or for religious reasons. Like Lyra s mom who was
so distant from her soul (daemon), she grew to be an alien and stranger to herself,
she didn t actually reach adulthood as an individual. While on the other hand, Lyra
developed at a very young age and became more mature than her own parents. Her
cleverness and disobedient character and her insistence on becoming something
gave her the chance to mature. To grow up isn t just a physical change in
appearance, it s more of a mental and spiritual growth. Just like what we noticed
between Lyra and her mom in the book Northern Lights that was about the journey

beliefs, she couldn t accept the separation and what they were doing to the children.
To her the way they treated children was pure cruelty. A lot of critics said that
Pullman was against religion and he was encouraging children to disobey their
parents. But he wasn t. He was actually trying to help people think about who they
really are and stop pretending to be something they are not, and he wanted to

The Negative Effects Of Cheating In High Schools
1. Introduction
Cheating in schools is getting worse and worse as the days fly by and here s why.
Studies have shown that more students are cheating to get a good grade and thrive.
The problem is that students shouldn t have to use cheating as a option for success in
their grades, it shouldn t even be an option in the first place. Cheating has skyrocketed
over the years as education has become more complex. Students are choosing
cheating as a way to take the easy way out because they don t understand the work
that is given to them. Plus, cheating is becoming much more easy to do due to the
updates on technology (smartphones). The outcome of this is that cheating is
getting worse because there is so many outlets for students to use to cheat and get
away with it, there needs to be more rules enforced about cheating and more
awareness on it so that cheating can lower down and not be a problem in schools and
or at least become less of a problem than it already is.
2. Background
For years, cheating has been a main problem in schools and has only gotten worse
over the years and not better at all. Cheating has been used for many years and not
only in the academic world. At one point in your life I m sure you ve cheated
someway somehow. Cheating in schools usually starts around elementary school. In

Defense Of Masks By Kenneth Gergen
What are masks? One usually thinks it is an object the individual puts on and takes
off.
When given the thought, one makes the comparison that masks are used to describe
our personalities. In In Defense of Masks by Kenneth Gergen, he describes the
conclusions of other psychologists that one needs to live with a coherent sense of
identity (Gergen, 198). In other words, they have deduced that one should develop a
consistent sense of self to which they can always be true to. Gergen s research has
led him to believe those assumptions are false. He doubts the idea of a coherent
sense of identity because individuals will acquire emotional distress. Gergen claims
that we cannot have a self to be true to at all time since we have multiple masks. All
the mask that one possesses changes their behavior and in turn, adds to their
personality. Likewise, our masks change depending on the given social situation.
Gregg Henriques
One Self or Many Selves givens a claim that: In sort, change the situation and you
change my behavior and thus I enter into a different self state (para 11). He explains
himself being disconnected on an uninteresting topic; otherwise, he is passionate
about the conversations.
Situations matter because it dictates how one will react based on the given moment.
For example, Parents, friends, lovers, teachers, kin, counselor, acquaintances all
behave differently towards us... (Gergen, 198). Likewise the case, Henriques asserts
that masks are constructed for
Feminist Criticism In The Second Sex By Simone De
Beauvoir
Simone de Beauvoir is an incredibly influential French philosopher, writer, activist,
intellectual, and social theorist. In 1949, she wrote what is perhaps her most
noteworthy text, The Second Sex . In the novel, Beauvoir explores the notion of
femininity and the history of the relationship between men and women, and makes
the ambitious claim that One is not born, but rather becomes, Woman. (283) This bold
statement has sparked the interest of many feminist activists and scholars, but for
one to truly understand Beauvoir s work, one must ask, what does it mean?
Although this statement is ostensibly simple, it holds great meaning and depth.
Essentially, it signifies that women are taught to be women, by their mothers and
by society, and are not simply born being society s definition of a woman. She
exemplifies this on multiple occasions in her novel. In one instance, she writes, It
is here that little girls first appear privileged. A second weaning, slower and less
brutal than the first one, withdraws the mother s body from the child s embraces;
but little by little boys are the ones who are denied kisses and caresses; the little girl
continues to be doted upon... (285) Here Beauvoir shows that even from birth, the
stereotype that girls are more delicate and fragile than boys is perpetuated by parents
treating girls with more affection and delicacy. In another example, she states, The
boyis also brought up by his mother in the beginning; but she respects his maleness

Essay on The Battle of Crete
| The Battle of Crete: Important or Insignificant? | The Battle of Crete began May
20th, 1941. Nazi Germany launched an airborne attack called Operation Merkur or
Operation Mercury on the island of Crete. This battle will be important because it
will hold great influence over the course of the war in the means of power. The
Greek, Allied forces and even civilians attempted to defend the island and after day
one the Germans suffered heavy casualties. The next day, the Allies were confident
they could gain control back but they would have miscommunications that would lead
to Germany gaining Maleme Airfield and flying in reinforcements to overwhelm the
defenders of the island. This research is being used to answer the question why the...

Alan Clarke said that the Germans felt it was forcing them to take over Mussolini
s responsibilities in the Balkans in order to secure their southern flank against the
Soviets. Knowing this, it begs to question why Hitler had to secure his flank
against a country that he was not at war with. Another historian, Graham Ross,
also states that Hitler would have to rescue Mussolini from the results of his
military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply secure the Balkans for Axis
power caused a setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the Germans to take
control. The Italians were much more humane and civilized when it came to
fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel and barbaric. This could
be the reason why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The
Italians did not have the fighting mentality like the Germans did. Of course there
are those such as Murray that beg to differ in opinions about the course of the war.
After the Germans had eliminated Greece and Yugoslavia, they decided to make
one last objective and that was attacking Crete. Hitler ordered an airborne attack to
finish the campaign and secure the Romanian oil fields from threats of bombing.
Hitler stated, Crete was the correct choice but such an attack would rely heavily on
airborne forces. The Germans had hoped that by taking control of the airfields they
could create a bridgehead
The Importance Of Hair Designs In Ancient Egypt
The ancient Egyptians were one of the first world civilizations to exist on our
planet being the first to set parameters. I often wonder if they knew they were the
first. When they were creating things such as the toothbrush and the calendar did
they feel like they were inventing for all of humanity? Or, were they just creating
things based on their needs in the present moment not realizing the impact it would
have on the Africa and beyond? After my research, I found out that they were the
original creators of one of my deepest passions the art of barbers. The ancient
Egyptians believed that being clean shaven was a sign of good hygiene and class.
This belief inspired them to create sharp stones that would trim their hair; by
advancing this technology they were able to carve out the first barbershop
industry in world civilization. The deep desire of intricate hair designs or braids,
short hair or shaven heads, or the desire for hair wigs organically led to the need of
tools that could revision their hair. In research done by W. Flinders Petries describes
the relationship of hair design in ancient Egyptby stating, There were periods when
the head was clean shaven, others when it was left to grow, cropped short or worn
shoulder long or even longer by both men and women. Egyptians invention of the first
barbertools begin 6,000 years ago where nobles crafted their barber tools out of
sharpened flint, shell, or stone. As time continued the tools continued to become more
Stereotypes In To Kill A Mockingbird By Harper Lee
Throughout the story of To Kill a Mockingbird many assumptions or stereotypes
were made based on what they saw or heard. First off, Boo Radley, who is a tall
mistreated boy, has rumors about him that make people think he is a freak. Next
is Tom Robinson, a tall black man who was accused of raping a woman named
Mayella. He was found guilty based on the color of his skin and the assumption
that African Americans are bad people. Finally is Scout, a 6 year old girl who is
the daughter of Atticus and sister of Jem. Most people look at her as a little
immature girl, but she isn t. She is an intelligent girl who cares about the goodness
of the people in her community. Which is why you shouldn t assume things based
on what you hear or see. Boo Radley is a reverent hero. He saved Jem And Scout
when they were being attacked by Mr. Ewell. He stepped in and stabbed Mr. Ewell
with a knife. He then carried Jem home to safety where he was looked at by a doctor
(Foote 75). However he is still merely looked at as a threat. Everybody knows him

Mayella is the daughter to Mr. Ewell who testified against Tom. Even though it was
obvious Tom was not guilty, the jury still found him guilty, because he was black.
First of all, Tom Robinson had no muscle in his left hand because he got it caught
in a cotton gin (Foote 61). Mayella s injuries were on the right side of her face, so
Tom wouldn t have been able to do that damage with a bad left hand. Second,
Mayella s stories were bad and she hesitated as she was asked the question Do you
remember him beating about the face? (Foote 60). With this evidence any white
man would have been not guilty, but people falsely accused him because he was
black. Sadly, after Tom was found guilty he was shot dead trying to run away. Tom
Robinson who was an innocent man, died because of the color of his skin and the

Comparing Hamlet And Oedipus The King
An Analysis of the Avoidable Fates of Oedipus and Hamlet
Hamlet and Oedipus Rex are two epic dramas written by William Shakespeare and
Sophocles respectively. Through these stories, Shakespeare and Sophocles tell the
tales of two tragic heroes with numerous similarities. Hamlet and Oedipus are brave,
courageous and noble heroes who met unfortunate and catastrophic fates. Hamlet met
his demise in an attempt to avenge his father s brutal murder and humiliation; Oedipus
willingly falls from glory as he tries to redeem himself from his mistakes. Although
many agree that neither hero deserved his fate, upon analyzing the plots of the two
epic dramas, one is forced conclude that Hamlet s and Oedipus actions were rash and
unnecessary, and that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

When the King and Queen appear to be greatly disturbed by the play, Hamlet decides
that the two are guilty, and that he must kill Claudius and torment Gertrude with
guilt. Today, almost anyone would agree that one s facial expressions upon watching
a play would not provide sufficient evidence to incriminate someone; however,
Hamlet irrationally bases his decision to kill his uncle and traumatize his mother upon
this evidence . Ultimately, it is this irrational thinking that leads to the deaths of
multiple characters, including his own. While Shakespeare emphasizes the
importance of rational thinking through, Hamlet s death, Sophocles also explores this
topic through Oedipus Rex. Like Hamlet, Oedipus too reaches his demise as a result
of rash thinking. The play begins with the citizens of Thebes begging Oedipus to
save them from the plague that has killed many. When Creon brings the news that
the Oracle at Delphi claimed that Gods cursed the city of Thebes with the plague due
to the unavenged murder of the Old King Laius, Oedipus is quick to proclaim the
following,
I solemnly forbid the people of this country,

Indian Child Welfare Act Case Study
Introduction:
In 1978, the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) passed through Congress in
response to a crisis affecting American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) children,
family and tribes (NICWA, 2017). ICWA s was enacted due to an exorbitant
amount of Native American children being removed from their parents and stripped
of their heritage as children were forced to assimilate to the dominant culture.
Approximately 85% of the 25 35% of children were placed outside of their families
and communities (NICWA, 2017), often in off reservation federally funded boarding
schools and/or foster placements where the values of christian, white, blue collar
were emphasized to civilize the children (Atwood, 2017). Native American children

Rawls Maximin Principle
Rawls Maximin Principle: Is It Really The Most Rational Solution?
Political philosophy aims to reflect the normative and conceptual dimensions of
political life. American philosopher John Rawls is widely recognized as one of the
leading political philosophers of the twentieth century. His A Theory of Justice(1971)
is one of the primary texts in political philosophy and proposes two principles of
justice. The first, the liberty principle, defines basic liberties and the second, the
difference principle, regulates disparity within rights, powers, and privileges through
what is known as a maximin strategy . The difference principle and underlying
maximin strategy, as any theory, has several credible components as well as some that

If you have a strong desire to get more than the minimum outcome, then it will be
rational to go for the option with a greater maximum possibility, even if it has a
minimum which is worse than the others. The final condition is that the alternatives
have unacceptable worst possible outcomes. If the alternatives had acceptable
minimums, then one might be willing to take a blind chance, and opt for principles
that may result in a system in which you have less than you could have В– since the
least isn t so bad .
In theory, the difference principle and maximin solution seem quite plausible but
after close scrutiny one begins to notice the loopholes that arise and are cause for
criticism. These loopholes can be found in many aspects of the theory, in particular
the definition of the original position, the influence of natural talents on inequalities,
and the risk adverse specification.
The description of the original position is rigged to yield the difference principle as
Rawls will admit . Those who object to the conditions of the veil of ignorance
purpose that people in the original position will not opt for a maximin solution
because it is not a rational principle to follow under conditions of ignorance about the
probability of outcomes. Rather, under such conditions it is most rational to count
each outcome as equally likely. For instance, given the number of possible outcomes

The Impact Of Technology On Socialization
At the beginning of Sunday morning, I reached for my phone for the last time to
silence my alarm that woke me up for church. My dependence on my phone and
other forms of technology has grown significantly since I joined online school. For
most of the day, it remains my only form of communication with the outside world
as I attend school from my living room. Because of this, I choose to attempt to do
the twenty four hours of technology free on Sunday. I would be with my family for
most of the day and normally wouldn t use most electronics for the time period any
way. However, my confidence in abstaining from my phone weakened shortly after as
I felt the urge to Snapchat my close friends. The increase in technology has changed

The values regarding how a good friend should act have dramatically changed to
someone that is always available and ready to talk. Ergo, because of the shift in
technology, socialization now includes a new set of rules on how to behave
regarding technology. By foregoing my electronics, I was breaking the more
recent values instilled by technological socialization. This made Sunday incredibly
difficult as I would be unaware if any of my close friends were in trouble. In
addition, since all of our plans are created through our group text, I was unaware
my friends had planned to hangout on Sunday night. I even went as far as to have
my best friend manage my snapchat for the day in order to ensure my snap streaks
were kept. I felt an immense pressure exerted by the social rules of technology to
break from the project and check my phone. However, I understood the goal was
for one day and it wasn t very long in actuality so I managed to not look at it. The
other forms of technology weren t as hard for me to avoid as they didn t carry the
same social rule set as my social media. Thus, although Sunday felt like I was
breaking a rule, I reluctantly followed the rule of the project and didn t use any
technology for the day. In conclusion, technology has changed socialization to
include values and rules based on technology. This negatively impacted my

School Size Has An Effect On College Enrollment Essay
As captain of her high school hockey team, leader of the art club, and the lead in
the school play my close friend was very involved in high school. Of course, this is
a lot of achievements, but she also did not have a lot of competition coming from a
school with a graduating class of one hundred and fifty. Given more involvement
smaller schools seem to be fantastic, but do larger schools send more graduates to
college? With this I researched the question if high schoolsize has an effect on
college enrollment. While compiling all my data, I also focused directly on four
specific Minnesota colleges in 2014.
The first school I chose was the high school for the Walker Hackensack Akeley
students. These three towns are about four hours north of the twin cities in north
central Minnesota, and all have populations under 1,000. Surrounded by many of
Minnesota s nice lakes such as Leech Lake, these cities tend to be busy cabin towns.
The high school in 2014 had about 42 graduates and had a result of 67% of their
students going to college. In exact numbers, 7 went to a public four year, 9 to a
public two year, 1 went to a private 2 year, 4 to a private 4 year, leaving the last 7
students traveling out of Minnesota. The student break down can be seen below,
blue is public 4 years, green is public two years, yellow is private two years, red is
private four years, and purple represents out of state colleges.

social changes usually seen in other countries only in times of war such as NAZI
Germany or Republic people of China. Since the revolution won the independence
of America nearly 200 years ago, America has undergone change after change. The
use and abolishment of slavery, the tolerance and rejection of immigration, the
Homestead act and giving tracts of land and the vote to thousands of people who did
not have before, are all examples of the big changes this country. These changes,

Additionally, its passage also helped rectify the system of free market capitalism in
America, through abolishing an ancient barrier to true merit based selection of
employees. The immediate result of the elevating of women s socio economic status,
through offering them a higher wage, was increased participation in both the
corporate world as professional employees and the world of higher education as
students. In both positions, women held much greater access and leverage to the
political system in America, through their active participation and influence in
student demonstrations, political movements, and through unions and professional
societies, respectively. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 should, in this context, be
considered one of the most important pieces of legislation passed in the journey of
women to a status of political, economic, and social equality with men in

  • 1. Essay For Smoking Writing an essay on the topic of smoking can be a challenging task for various reasons. Firstly, the subject itself is controversial and multifaceted, encompassing health concerns, social implications, and individual choices. Navigating through the vast amount of information available, including scientific studies, personal anecdotes, and societal perspectives, requires careful consideration. Addressing the health aspects involves delving into the intricacies of the impact of smoking on physical well-being. The writer must sift through medical research, statistics, and potential counterarguments to present a comprehensive view. Moreover, conveying the emotional and psychological aspects of smoking, whether exploring addiction or the reasons behind the choice to smoke, adds an extra layer of complexity. Incorporating social perspectives requires an understanding of cultural norms, public policies, and the ongoing discourse surrounding smoking. Analyzing the influence of tobacco companies, anti-smoking campaigns, and legislative measures involves extensive research and critical thinking. Additionally, framing the essay in a way that engages the reader and communicates the importance of the topic is essential. • 2. How To Braid Essay How to blend natural hair with braids Whenever it becomes necessary to blend braids with your natural hair, the first step is to ensure that you choose extensions or braiding hair that closely matches your own texture. Alternately, it is possible to manipulate your own texture to match those of the extensions, such as doing a braid out or twist out to obtain a texture that would blend well with curly extensions. If the extensions are straight, it is also possible to stretch and straighten your natural hair using heat free methods. Ensure that you consider any blending that might need to be done when considering a braided style to install. How to curl natural hair with braids Flexi rods or cold wave rods are affordable tools that may be used to curl your braids. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As long as braids are installed in a manner that does not apply tension to the hairline or any other part of the hair and scalp, then braids are a great way of promoting hair growth. Always prepare the hair for braiding by deep conditioning to replace moisture and moisturise frequently while wearing the style to ensure that hair continues to thrive. Happy hair
  • 3. Character Analysis of Yossarian in Catch 22 Yossarian is the main character of Catch 22, and one of just a few characters that get fleshed out during the story. Yossarian represents many of the themes and ideas of Catch 22, and provides a character that most people can sympathize with. Yossarian is continually worried about dying but at the same time continues to fly his missions so someone else doesn t have to fly his for him. Yossarianthinks he is sane while everyone else is crazy; however everyone else thinks the exact opposite. He is also seen as different because of name, as nobody has heard it before. The battles of life versus death and sanity versus insanity are some of the things that define Yossarian while he himself represents the psyche of a soldier during war. Yossarian is described as a big burley Assyrian man. His appearance makes him markedly different from the rest of the people in his squadron and is one of the ways that he is seen as an outsider by the rest of the squadron. In addition to his appearance, his name also makes him stand out, as it is completely different from everyone else s and no one has ever heard it before Yossarian himself. These differences alienate him from the rest of the squadron, save for a few of Yossarian s close friends, and make it seem like Yossarian is special in some way, even though it is revealed that he is not really much different than the rest of the squadron. Even though Yossarian is different in physical appearance and name then the rest of the squadron, it is

  • 5. Killer Queen Description Killer Queen by Queen is very intriguing to me for one big reason, depending on how I look at the lyrics; I cannot decide whether the song is about a classy prostitute or a homosexual man; however, before going into this ambiguity, I must establish some background for the song and its history. Queen is a British rock band formed in 1970; at the time of this song being written, the lineup was: Freddie Mercury, on lead and backing vocals; Brian May, on electric guitar and backing vocals; Roger Taylor, on drums and also backing vocals; and John Deacon on bass guitar. Though the band started out with heavier rock, this song marked their transition towards a more glam rock or pop rock tone of music; a change that proved extremely successful for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an example we can look at the first verse; it opens by informing listeners that this queen keeps a very fancy wine (MoГ«t et Chandon) in her cabinet, showing that she is a person who wants to come across as refined and fancy, and then moves into saying that she recites the famous Let them eat cake quote, Just like Marie Antoinette , the queen of France before the French Revolution. This line is where it starts alluding to the fact that she is not simply the refined and high class lady she appears to be. Marie Antoinette is famously misattributed to that quote, and while initially well received and liked by the French populace, people grew to dislike her and accused her of being promiscuous in addition to other accusations. So while the line seems to just be painting her as a refined person, it is actually alluding to her true nature. The song goes on in many other lines to describe this Killer Queen ; she appears to be a high class woman who is at times, as Mercury himself put it, a whore. This forms the basis of the most accepted (and perfectly valid) interpretation of the song; however, as it is already well accepted, it is not the interpretation I would like to focus on getting

  • 7. Mis589 Wk4 Mini-Case Mega Corp MIS589_WK4_Mini case MegaCorp_PC Questions: MegaCorp is a large manufacturing firm that operates 5 factories in Dallas, 4 factories in Los Angeles, and 5 factories in Albany, New York. It operates a tightly connected order management system that coordinates orders, raw materials, and inventory across all 14 factories. What type of WAN architecture and WAN service would you recommend? Why? Recommendations: When designing a WAN, numerous factors must be considered. Organizations attempting to connect multiple factories or offices and remote personnel must take into account a number of variables that will impact overall costs and network functionality. When designing and implementing wide area networks (WANs) that integrate voice, video, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So therefore, based off the information provided, I would recommend a packet switched architecture, or more specifically a Frame relay with a CIR 45 Mbps WAN service. Frame Relay is packet switched data link layer protocol that handles multiple virtual circuits using High Level Data Link Control (HDLC) encapsulation between connected devices. (Cisco, 2005) In many cases, Frame Relay is more efficient than X.25 and generally less expensive than ATM. Also the data provided does not suggest that MegaCorp specifically has needs for the extensive QoS information that ATM provides that would enable the setting of very precise priorities among different types of transmissions such as high priority for voice and video and lower priority for email. If the company were a consulting firm with a high propensity for needs on bandwidth because of video conferencing or high bandwidth requiring applications then perhaps ATM architecture with a T1 or T3 WAN service might be more suitable. Even though MegaCorp is a large manufacturing firm recommending Ethernet services might prove to be too expensive of a proposal as well and thus causing us to lose the project. The cost associated to having each factory connected by fiber optic cables to the provider s city wide MAN backbone plus the cost of the Ethernet switch might not be justified by the company s bandwidth needs. • 8. Child Reflection Paper I admitted a baby girl in the NICU weighing 1lb 7oz with esophageal atresia I also met the parents the same day of admission to orient them to the unit, the equipment, and to address any concerns regarding visiting time. This baby was in the unit for few months I frequently cared for her and the family. On this Sunday morning, the mother asked me Do you go to church I replied her with the name of the church also told her I volunteer at church as an usher on my off Sundays. When parents confirmed that they attend the same church we formed the bond between us. I asked the mother if prayers from the church is fine with her familyshe replied absolutely. I provided the mother with the pastor s contact number and asked for permission to inform the pastor in person to start prayerfor the baby girl and the family. This baby girl needed series of repair but feeding tube placement was the only surgery done in the hospital that I work. Through extensive search there was no hospital found in Florida capable of performing the baby girl s surgery than Boston Children s Hospital. There are many ways to successfully aid them in making it through the class period, including providing the mentee with consistency by supplying them with a schedule that outlines the structure of the class. People with Autism or Asperger Syndrome crave consistency, structure, and predictability and if these elements are not present, they will mentally breakdown. Likewise, there is an underlying routine for every class period, even though a new subject is constantly taught by the teachers. As a mentor, it would be beneficial to create a schedule for the mentee, so, therefore, the structure and order that they crave is evident in the classroom environment. For this reason, the student might begin to feel comfortable, which would allow them to have a greater capability to focus on the specific tasks. In addition, another way to help the mentee in the classroom setting is to break down the information that was taught or attempt to present it to them in a different manner, if they do not understand it. Students with Autism or Asperger Syndrome sometimes struggle to understand the lesson as they cannot process the way the teacher has expressed it to the class. It then might be harder for them to complete an assigned task about that topic and by breaking it down, they will be able to complete more work. Corporal Punishment Should Be Taught Essay Corporal is derived from the Latin word corporДЃlis bodily which is equivalent to corpor meaning, of the human body; bodily; physical , as defined by the dictionary. The Merriam Webster dictionary defines corporal punishment as, punishment that involves hitting someone: physical punishment . The Committee on the Rights of the Child in the General Comment No. 8 defines corporal or physical punishment as, any punishment in which physical force is used and intended to cause some degree of pain or discomfort, however light. Most involves hitting ( smacking , slapping , spanking) children, with the hand or with an implement; in the view of the Committee, corporal punishmentis invariably degrading. The negative psychological consequences that stem from corporal punishment far outweigh the positive results that have been recorded over the centuries corporal punishment has been used; rather than enforcing corporal punishment to teach students to behave more appropriately in the classroom, educators should be taught new ways to handle different behaviors within the classroom without resorting to violence. Corporal punishment is used as a mechanism for controlling behavior in more than just the education system. Although corporal punishment is commonly associated with the education system as a means for punishing school children in modern times: corporal punishment is in no way limited to punishing children and is commonly used towards adults. There s a little bit of a lead up to my moment and it goes back to my eighth grade year. I ve been in band for a long time and that year I had decided to become an aide for the band. I loved watching the band, and every show I was fascinated by the majorettes. I thoughteverything from the outfits to just twirling in general was amazing. A year had gone by, I didn t think much about the majorettes in between my eighth grade and freshman year. I went into marching band; I was in the trumpet section.... The other three I didn t really know and my friends were still playing instruments. Every single practice we would go down far away from everyone else and they would have me work on the same things by myself all the time, while they did other things. If I didn t get something right away it was assumed I wasn t going to get it at all. If I asked to be shown something a different way, I was yelled at for not understanding. I went from loving the majorettes to hating them, wanting to be like them, to hoping I never was like that. Band camp was horrible, plain and simple. They gave me two days to learn everything and since they came up with everything they already had it down. I had two awful panic attacks that week, one while we were on the field. The other three acted like they hated me and it wasn t subtle. I couldn t do anything with them, and I could barely talk to them without them being patronizing. Practices continued. Nothing changed; except for me. I kept going, I didn t let them win and I didn t quit. Now the moment: the first game. I wasn t as nervous as I thought I d be. I felt that since I had made it so long already with dealing with the three that I could get through anything. I can honestly say that for my first time really performing I couldn t have done better. In this study, Professor Goodwin Gill and Dr Cohn emphasize the ways in which international humanitarian law fails to provide effective protection, particularly in the internal conflicts, examine the consequences of children participation in armed conflicts and provide factual suggestions for preventing the recruitment. More analytically, the authors examine all the aspects that lead children to bear arms by focusing on conflicts in Guatemala, Israeli, El Salvador, Sri Lanka and Liberia. The book firstly responds to the question of what the child is and secondly to what are the reasons for children participating in armed conflicts. At the end, significant suggestions are given on how to prevent and halt the recruitment of children into armed groups. The authors, Professor Guy Goodwin Gill and Dr Ilene Cohn, are two eminent lawyers whose work on Child soldiers was commissioned by the Henry Dunant Institute, the research centre of the Red Cross movement in Geneva. • 16. The Power Of Fate In Romeo And Juliet There are many powerful forces on this earth. It can permanently affect a person s life, whether it be fortunate or atrocious. Romeo and Juliet illustrates the lives of two young star crossed lovers who take their lives together after they discover that their affection will never be compatible. They are lead to believe that they love each other, and though love is a strong element in life, love is not what drove them to meet each other, or eventually kill themselves. It is fate that wrote their lives like a book, and its fate that decided when to write the last page of that book. Fate is the development of events beyond a person s control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power. It is the force that is more powerful than any element of human nature on earth. No one can surpass/change it; it is impossible to try to erase the words of your story. Fate is inevitable, and whether it is good or bad, you must accept it. In Romeo And Juliet, Romeo tries to accept the fate that draw him and Juliet apart, but at the end of the book, he tries to defy fate, saying Then I defy you, stars (Act 5, Scene 1, Page 266), then takes his life. However, fate is so strong, that by killing himself trying to defy fate, he actually followed its guidelines. In Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare uses characterization and foreshadowing to illustrate that it is human nature to recognize that life is controlled by fate, and good or bad, it cannot be changed. Fate acts quickly in the play.

There is almost no major country in the world without an official team participating in the Federation Internationale Basketball (FIBA) leagues nowadays. Our own country, the Philippines, loves the sport with a passion. For all those unfamiliar with the sport (which are very hard to find nowadays), basketball is a two team game, composed of five players per team, with the goal of scoring the most points in a given amount of time. What s interesting is that the top five of the list are USA, Philippines, Canada, Australia, and Iran, most of which have had deep connections to America in their respective pasts. The Philippines was a colony of the States. Canada is the closest geographically to the US. Iran was involved with the US during that Iraq thingy. The point is, there seems to be a connection between the popularity of basketball in a country to the eventuality of interaction between them and America. Studies have shown that more students are cheating to get a good grade and thrive. The problem is that students shouldn t have to use cheating as a option for success in their grades, it shouldn t even be an option in the first place. Cheating has skyrocketed over the years as education has become more complex. Students are choosing cheating as a way to take the easy way out because they don t understand the work that is given to them. Plus, cheating is becoming much more easy to do due to the updates on technology (smartphones). The outcome of this is that cheating is getting worse because there is so many outlets for students to use to cheat and get away with it, there needs to be more rules enforced about cheating and more awareness on it so that cheating can lower down and not be a problem in schools and or at least become less of a problem than it already is. 2. When given the thought, one makes the comparison that masks are used to describe our personalities. In In Defense of Masks by Kenneth Gergen, he describes the conclusions of other psychologists that one needs to live with a coherent sense of identity (Gergen, 198). In other words, they have deduced that one should develop a consistent sense of self to which they can always be true to. Gergen s research has led him to believe those assumptions are false. He doubts the idea of a coherent sense of identity because individuals will acquire emotional distress. Gergen claims that we cannot have a self to be true to at all time since we have multiple masks. All the mask that one possesses changes their behavior and in turn, adds to their personality. Likewise, our masks change depending on the given social situation. Gregg Henriques One Self or Many Selves givens a claim that: In sort, change the situation and you change my behavior and thus I enter into a different self state (para 11). He explains himself being disconnected on an uninteresting topic; otherwise, he is passionate about the conversations. In 1949, she wrote what is perhaps her most noteworthy text, The Second Sex . In the novel, Beauvoir explores the notion of femininity and the history of the relationship between men and women, and makes the ambitious claim that One is not born, but rather becomes, Woman. (283) This bold statement has sparked the interest of many feminist activists and scholars, but for one to truly understand Beauvoir s work, one must ask, what does it mean? Although this statement is ostensibly simple, it holds great meaning and depth. Essentially, it signifies that women are taught to be women, by their mothers and by society, and are not simply born being society s definition of a woman. She exemplifies this on multiple occasions in her novel. In one instance, she writes, It is here that little girls first appear privileged. A second weaning, slower and less brutal than the first one, withdraws the mother s body from the child s embraces; but little by little boys are the ones who are denied kisses and caresses; the little girl continues to be doted upon... (285) Here Beauvoir shows that even from birth, the stereotype that girls are more delicate and fragile than boys is perpetuated by parents treating girls with more affection and delicacy. In another example, she states, The boyis also brought up by his mother in the beginning; but she respects his maleness

Knowing this, it begs to question why Hitler had to secure his flank against a country that he was not at war with. Another historian, Graham Ross, also states that Hitler would have to rescue Mussolini from the results of his military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply secure the Balkans for Axis power caused a setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the Germans to take control. The Italians were much more humane and civilized when it came to fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel and barbaric. This could be the reason why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The Italians did not have the fighting mentality like the Germans did. • 51. The Impact Of Technology On Socialization At the beginning of Sunday morning, I reached for my phone for the last time to silence my alarm that woke me up for church. For most of the day, it remains my only form of communication with the outside world as I attend school from my living room. Because of this, I choose to attempt to do the twenty four hours of technology free on Sunday. I would be with my family for most of the day and normally wouldn t use most electronics for the time period any way. However, my confidence in abstaining from my phone weakened shortly after as I felt the urge to Snapchat my close friends. The increase in technology has changed the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The values regarding how a good friend should act have dramatically changed to someone that is always available and ready to talk. Ergo, because of the shift in technology, socialization now includes a new set of rules on how to behave regarding technology. By foregoing my electronics, I was breaking the more recent values instilled by technological socialization. This made Sunday incredibly difficult as I would be unaware if any of my close friends were in trouble. In addition, since all of our plans are created through our group text, I was unaware my friends had planned to hangout on Sunday night. I even went as far as to have my best friend manage my snapchat for the day in order to ensure my snap streaks were kept. I felt an immense pressure exerted by the social rules of technology to break from the project and check my phone. However, I understood the goal was for one day and it wasn t very long in actuality so I managed to not look at it. The other forms of technology weren t as hard for me to avoid as they didn t carry the same social rule set as my social media. Thus, although Sunday felt like I was breaking a rule, I reluctantly followed the rule of the project and didn t use any technology for the day. In conclusion, technology has changed socialization to include values and rules based on technology. This negatively impacted my experience going twenty four

  • 54. School Size Has An Effect On College Enrollment Essay As captain of her high school hockey team, leader of the art club, and the lead in the school play my close friend was very involved in high school. Of course, this is a lot of achievements, but she also did not have a lot of competition coming from a school with a graduating class of one hundred and fifty. Given more involvement smaller schools seem to be fantastic, but do larger schools send more graduates to college? With this I researched the question if high schoolsize has an effect on college enrollment. While compiling all my data, I also focused directly on four specific Minnesota colleges in 2014. The first school I chose was the high school for the Walker Hackensack Akeley students. These three towns are about four hours north of the twin cities in north central Minnesota, and all have populations under 1,000. Surrounded by many of Minnesota s nice lakes such as Leech Lake, these cities tend to be busy cabin towns. The high school in 2014 had about 42 graduates and had a result of 67% of their students going to college. In exact numbers, 7 went to a public four year, 9 to a public two year, 1 went to a private 2 year, 4 to a private 4 year, leaving the last 7 students traveling out of Minnesota. The student break down can be seen below, blue is public 4 years, green is public two years, yellow is private two years, red is private four years, and purple represents out of state colleges. The top four colleges graduates decided to attend were Bemidji State

Additionally, its passage also helped rectify the system of free market capitalism in America, through abolishing an ancient barrier to true merit based selection of employees. The immediate result of the elevating of women s socio economic status, through offering them a higher wage, was increased participation in both the corporate world as professional employees and the world of higher education as students. In both positions, women held much greater access and leverage to the political system in America, through their active participation and influence in student demonstrations, political movements, and through unions and professional societies, respectively. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 should, in this context, be considered one of the most important pieces of legislation passed in the journey of women to a status of political, economic, and social equality with men in
