Deer Persuasive Essay
What if I told you there was a way to save so many lives by just keeping one animal off of the
roads? There is a serious problem that a lot of people are facing especially late at night. There
have been as horrible incidents as to where people have lost their lives. Or in less serious but still
devastating incidents peoples cars become completely totaled. You never know you might just be
on a late night drive heading down main street to pick your kid up from soccer practice when all of
a sudden a deerjumps out from nowhere in front of your car and completely destroys it. That is
just talking about damage to the car too. Hitting a deer can also put your life at risk and can cause
fatal injuries.
Deer have been coming down from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The car suffered severe damage including the passenger side door wouldn t open. And one of the
headlights was completely broken and the alignment of the car was completely off because the
deer was hit at such a high speed. And then after the auto body shop finally found time to look at
the car the total bill was thousands of dollars. Overall something needs to be done to keep deer off
of public roads (Potter).
Solution
Given these points, something has to be done to keep deer off of public roads. There are many
different ideas and solutions that have been brought up to prevent this serious issue. But nothing
has actually ever been done publicly at least where I live to keep deer off of public roads. We are
facing a serious issue everyday. Our public roads have become crossing ground for deer. We should
put out large salt blocks around the the bases of all mountains surrounding the city and public roads.
The salt blocks would be very large so they would last a very long time. They would be placed
every 5 miles around the bases of all mountains surrounding the city and public roads. This would
go into effect immediately by putting the salt blocks out right now before more deer start to come
down the mountain. The city will pay for these salt blocks and instruct city workers where to
strategically place them so that they cannot be passed by deer coming down the mountain. The
deer will then stop and lick the salt blocks instead of coming down and crossing public

Dracula Anti-Christian Beliefs
Dracula, superstitions of the past
Anti Christianity is a major reoccurring theme throughout Bram Stoker s Dracula. The novel
portrays Anti Christian values and beliefs, through one of its characters. Dracula one of the main
characters in the novel is used to take on the characteristics of the AntiChrist. Stoker uses many
beliefs from the Christian religion to display numerous amounts of Anti Christian values,
superstitious beliefs of the protection towards evil, and to compare and contrast the powers of God
with those of Dracula. It is a theme that is used throughout the entire book. There are many ways
that Bram Stoker s character Dracula can be considered the AntiChrist, mostly because of the
showing of Anti Christian values and abuses

Pearl Harbor Case Study
5c. Describe the opening moves of each side.
How did the attacking forces move their units across the line of departure?
The attacking forces, 2nd Battalion Raiders, moved their forces through the line of departure via
submarine and rubber boat. The USS Argonaut (SM 1)(EX V4) and USS Nautilus (SS 168)(EX
V6) transported rubber inflatable motor boats to the Makin Atoll (Carlson s Marine Raiders: Makin
Island 1942, Gordon L. Rottman 24 25). The transit of the troops took around 9 days from Pearl
Harbor due to its winding path to avoid obvious detection. Submarines held position within 500
yds of the reef line to deploy troops and rubber boats. The rubber boats were held within the
external torpedo storage of the submarines along with weapons and supplies for the mission
(Rottman 43). The twelve rubber boats from the Argonaut traveled towards the Nautilus, with it s
eight boats joining them, and continued towards the island. Company A (Carlson s Group) had
landed on Beach Z (actual) instead of Beach Y (planned) which was an improvement since they
re closer to the target. The Raiders made it to land but some boats got capsized causing the spread
of weapons and supplies along the beach, or separated from the group. Peatross group that was
separated from the main body had advanced towards objective despite lack of numbers.
How did the defending forces react to the attack?
The natives of the land, that were supposedly working for the Japanese, had welcomed and
hospitalized the Raiders. False information had been given to them, though, when Raiders
inquired of Japanese personnel (Rottman 46 47). The Japanese soldiers had seemingly
anticipated the attack or had been aware of it with no reports of the natives. Japanese soldiers
had been deployed close to where the path and position of the target of the Raiders (Rottman 47).
This was most likely due to the panic friendly fire shots by Raiders which had occurred frequently
throughout the Raider s presence. The Japanese had automobiles and special weaponry, such as
flamethrowers, machine guns, etc. to use on the island against the Raiders as well. The Japanese
had also placed camouflaged snipers amongst the palms in advance to pick off any hiding or
unprepared Raider

Emile Durkheim Religion
Through ethnographic research, Durkheim can explain the fundamentals of religion and its relation
to society. We are not born with the innate knowledge of structural situations or cultural effects that
occur within a society. Nor, are we aware of the effects our behaviors and attitudes have on a
society. Durkheim s worked untimely explained how the moral realm functioned by focusing on
primitive religion. Religious ceremonies closely resemble social life, containing highly routined
acts. The essential elements of religion include rites which are expressed by rituals and practice.
Rituals unite social groups regardless of individual differences, which are found in both modern
and traditional societies because rituals are a part of both. Durkheim noted, to have a... Show more

I, for example, am very unfamiliar with the society of sports, however, I am able to apply
Durkheim s fundamental concepts to deconstruct the sacred and profane of it. In football or any
other major sports, has become a religion for many. How so? Sports fans often elevate their
players and define them as a god to the team, and practice rituals for certain games, their church is
their stadium where their follows go to admire and support them. The put significant sacredness on
their team s logo (symbols) and despise the profane acts such as jinxing the team by doing
something out of the usual routine. Although such example is a bit extreme, it does prove
Durkheim s observations and considerations of collective representation in making a society
cohesive. If society did not have these elements, it would cause constant chaos and further
disagreements on morality. He provides an understanding of the discipline of sociology and the
social phenomena that is observed in each

Economic Impact Of The Germany Economy
Germany today is seen as successful, thriving and prospering nation with a strong economy putting
it ahead of its European counterparts, one of which is the United Kingdom. Despite the challenging
economic setting within the European Union, Germany continues to be one of the world s most
influential and dynamic economies. Business and investment freedom are robust. Long term
competitiveness and entrepreneurial growth are supported by openness to global commerce, well
protected property rights, and a sound business regulatory environment.
The German economy has progressively developed from the effects of the global financial crisis,
which had a serious negative impact both on Germany s public finances and on its economic
growth. Actions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this a couple of decades after Germany`s industrialisation it had experienced
hyperinflation following poor government decisions which had become unpleasant with the
German population. Policies such as the war bonds and taxes being reused resulted in public
anxiety. Paying reparations by printing more money had resulted in a fall in the currency. The
economic impacts of industrialisation will be highlighted throughout the project.
The effects of industrialisation on the economy:
What is industrialisation?
It is the process by which an economy is converted from primarily agricultural to one created on the
manufacturing of goods. Individual manual labour is often replaced by mechanized mass
production, and craftsmen are replaced by assembly lines. Features of industrialization include
economic growth, more efficient division of labour, and the use of technological innovation to
solve problems as opposed to dependency on conditions outside human control i.e. the weather for
agricultural work.
Economic and historical research has showed that industrialization is linked to rising educations,
longer life spans, growing individual and national income, and improved overall quality of life, in
the long term which could be a period of many years.
The beginning of the industrialisation in Germany:
In the beginning of the 18th century, Germany was not a united nation and was economically weak

The Wonderous Words of Charles Dickens Come to Life in the...
Charles Dickens is an infamous writer of wondrously worded and descriptive British Victorian
novels. Not only does he go above and beyond the call of a writer to descriptively transform
worlds around him into literary works of art, but he also has a way in which he is able to hide
different symbolic sentiments and objects that seem to pop up around each and every twist and
turn he gives us. Oliver Twist is no different. Charles Dickenscleverly centered the entire novel on
twists and objects that do just that; such as handkerchiefs, neckties and ropes. The handkerchief is
an ongoing symbol that has different significances that really pull the entire novel together. In
Oliver Twist, the handkerchief takes on its own meaning and symbol of brilliantly tying Oliver s
world that is full of twists and turns itself, all together. We are first introduced to the image or
symbol of the handkerchief when Oliver encounters Faginand his mischievous group of young
thieves. After running away from his apprenticeship that he was treated poorly at, Oliver goes to
the city of London. There, Jack Dawkins also known as the Artful Dodgertook pity on him and
gave him not only food and shelter, but a deal with the devil as well. Dawkins takes Oliver to
Fagin (also known as the Jew ); the leader of a group of thieves, and this is where the
handkerchief makes a first and lasting impression. Dickens writes Oliver to be very observant and
he notices the handkerchiefs while he is taking in

The Rise And Development Of Liberalism
The concept of ownership is one that seems elementary; however, when thought about, it is
something very puzzling and convoluted. You do not really own anything unless you created it.
You can buy a book with your own money that you earned, and you will have that book, but you
will not truly own it. You did not write the words inside it or drew the art on the cover, it is not
yours. You do not even own the paper upon which the book is printed. You just have possession of
another person s creation. People are most often guided into thinking that if you have something,
you own it.
The rise and development of liberalism in Enlightenment political thought has many relations with
the growth of what is today called civil society , the society characterized by work and trade in
pursuit of private property. Several Enlightenment thinkers, such as John Locke had thoughts about
ownership and what it means to be an owner of private property. In Locke s Second Treatise he
writes: It is very clear, that God, as king David says, Psal. cvx. 16, has given the earth to the
children of men; given it to mankind in common. But this being supposed, it seems to some a
very great difficulty how any one individual should ever come to have a property in any thing ... I
shall endeavour to show how men might come to have a property in several parts of that which
God gave to mankind in common, and that without any express compact of all the commoners He
makes the point of that while we all share

Tartaric acid contains H+ that can dissociate and react with the OH ions to form water and thus
create an equilibrium reaction. This also allows the tartaric acid to dissolve to form tartrate. In
low pH solutions, there would already be a lot of H+ ions in the solution and so tartaric acid would

Similarities Between Jane Eyre And Chinese Cinderella
Both of the stimulus texts show the struggle of unwanted girls in different eras and countries and
explore the theme of orphans. Jane Eyre is known as one of the most famous orphans in literature,
therefore, the text would be ideal for the theme. The two texts: Chinese Cinderella and Jane Eyre,
share some similarities; Jane Eyreis an orphanliving with her aunt, Mrs Reed, and although
Adeline lives with her father and her step mum she lives like an outsider just like Jane. In the
autobiography Adeline is treated poorly by her parents just like Jane Eyre is by Mrs Reed.
Although, Adeline is not a typical orphan she is treated as one by her father. I chose the theme of
orphans because it was an appealing topic as although, have evolved there is still a high amount of

So I decided charity appeal to help less fortunate girls would be appropriate and an Ofsted report to
show the treatment of orphans in the Victorian era in a comedic manner.
The charity appeal targets parents, particularly women because they possess maternal instincts
making them more empathetic towards abandoned young girls because they can relate. The sole
purpose of the text is to persuade people to donate money to a charity which supports orphaned
girls in China because Adeline is Chinese. Alternatively, it was written to educate those unaware of
mass amounts of abandoned girls in China. The text is inspired primarily by Adeline Yen Mahs
autobiography, Chinese Cinderella. Yen Mah writes about her childhood, growing up as an
unwanted child, If you had not been born, Mama would still be alive . Similarly, Jane Eyre is an
unwanted girl which is why she is sent by Mrs Reed to Lowood the focus of my second text, a

Association Between Damage Associated Molecular Patterns and Outcomes in Trauma Patients
Introduction
Despite medical advancements over the past decade, trauma remains the leading cause of fatality
among persons 1 to 44 years of age, and is the 4th leading cause of death among all ages in the
United States1,2. Although many trauma victims succumb to overwhelming injuries early on,
patients who survive initial injury undergo a period of immunoinflammatory dysregulation which
under overwhelming circumstances, can lead to organ dysfunction, respiratory distress syndrome
(ARDs), nosocomial infection, multiple organ failure (MOF), and ultimately death3,4. Although

Review Of No Art Passes Our Conscience On The Way Film
Chapter 1 | INTRODUCTION TO TASK No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and
goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls. Ingmar Bergman1
Making motion pictures is business from over a century. Though, this field is considered as the
most expensive form of Art. To execute a perfect scene, there are hundreds of people working
behind the camera, holding and managing equipments. Equipments are for enhancing the beauty of
film. Now a day this art is not limited for film theatres or multiplexes. We live in an era of Internet
and have plenty of platforms like YouTube and Vimeo and Netflix to showcase this art. But for
small production house, it s impossible to have the same equipments as the mighty film makers has.
This project work is to help out those productions which cannot afford the advance technology
named Motion control. The technique is commonly used when duplication of an element which
cannot be physically duplicated is required; motion control is the primary method of featuring
multiple shots of the same actor in a scene that consist of camera movement. For this method, the
camera typically films exactly the same motion in exactly the same location while the actor
performs different parts. With the help of engineering we will make such a product that can be used
by small budget film makers out there. Under 7th Semester Project, we talked with emerging

Many argue that the practice of sharecropping was just a continuation of slavery. Oftentimes,
conditions were poor and the compensation terms for work were unfair. Due to illiteracy, the

sharecropping really that different from slavery? People also argue that racism from pre Civil War
America was the same as racism during reconstruction. Racism was even used as a political tactic

The Plasticity At A Young Age
The brain is constantly changing and molding from new experiences. The plasticity at a young
age presents itself in an enormous amount which allows the brain to change and adapt. When a
child is bestowed with a traumatic experience at a young age they learn from that and are
effected tremendously, because that s all the knowledge they contain. Traits are hard wired into
people and that coming from parents it already sets a path to follow and in a way already makes
them who they are, but an environment plays a substantial role in molding a person. One
experience can change a person forever depending on the level of intensity of the situation. The
genes of a person help decide their decisions and the environment in which they are raised also
grants a contribution towards the development of the brain. Furthermore, at a young age the brain
is not completely developed to its maximum potential of functioning. The frontal lobe, which
controls decision making, problem solving, and judgement, isn t fully developed till the age of
twenty five. Young children pick up and mimic actions they observe from others which helps
create their personality and reasoning of action. The frontal lobe, as well as other parts of the brain,
develop around experiences granted to a youthful child. Children learn skills easily and take that
into their newly learning brain. Babies will do things the same way naturally but differ in a growing
aspect which depends on their surrounding environment. The

Employees Regular employees are not that well paid but they are Ok. Since most of their stores
are located in rural areas, they are able to have employees for cheaper wages. 4. Respect In a
way, people in rural areas do not have the experience of buying higher quality products. Most of
those Brands being sold by them are either lesser known ones or, specially made with discounted
prices by cutting corners. For example if I buy a Brut Deodorant for a $ 1.00, it s quality
wouldn t be the same as the one that I would buy from Maycees. Same goes with other products.
In terms of Respect, they need to respect the intelligence of the customer. So, those Brands
mentioned in their website is an eyewash and is of inferior quality. 5. Opportunity Certainly
there is a good opportunity for buying cheaper products. Most goods are bought in large
volumes and factories in poorer countries are compelled to offer cheaper prices to keep their
factories running with that kind of bulk buying. DG does not require a factory to be Audited and
certified for quality standards and social compliance. Their products are sourced from the lowest

Commander s Intent
The commander s intent is a critical part of mission command. The commander, through the
commander s intent, must blend the art of command and the science of control that integrates all
joint warfighting functions. ADM Wesley McDonald, Commander US Atlantic Command
(LANTCOM), failed to convey the commander s intent to the joint force for Operation Urgent Fury.
This failure promoted misunderstanding and mutual trust issues among the joint force that affected
the integration of joint functions such as intelligence and sustainment.

When planning for joint operations, Commanders must include all services and multinational
partners to promote understanding. A joint force that understands the capabilities and limitations
among the force builds trust across the force. LANTCOM command did not foster a climate of
mutual trust during Operation Urgent Fury. Trust is essential element during operations. Senior
leader must trust the abilities of subordinates and subordinates must have trust in senior leaders.
The lack of mutual trust began at the senior level of military command and continued during the
execution of Operation Urgent Fury. The JCS rejected LANCOM s attempts to blend ground forces
and established boundary lines between ground forces. Additionally, subordinate commanders did
not trust the LANTCOM. During the initial ground operations, a brigade of the 82nd Airborne
Division came under attack. Instead of requesting reinforcements through joint operation channels,
the request for reinforcement went directly to the 82nd Airborne Division rear staff. Mutual trust is
difficult to build during operations. US armed forces must seek every opportunity to conduct joint
training exercises to build mutual trust before operations. Joint exercises develop habitual
relationships among the services and promote mutual trust. The lack of mutual trust not only affects
command and control but other joint function such as intelligence. LANTCOM failed to coordinate

Elizabeth 1 Accomplishments
During the 1500s, one woman prevailed in a society dominated by males. Queen Elizabeth I of
England served for forty four stable and prosperous years. She claimed the throne in 1558 and
reigned until her death in 1603. Because of her strong leadership, this time period was known as
England s Golden Age or Elizabethan Era. Queen Elizabeth s accomplishments were possible
because of her educational background, Protestant upbringing, and unmarried status. First, Queen
Elizabeth s reign was successful because she was well educated. According to the Folger
Shakespeare Library website, she received instruction that only men received during the 1500s.
She studied mathematics, history, and several different languages. She played music, danced,
rode horses and hunted. (Folger.edu) She supported the country s culture. For example, she loved
to attend plays written by William Shakespeare. She saw The Merry Wives of Windsor and Love
s Labor s Lost. (Folger.edu) As a queen, she was also able to communicate well with diplomatic
ambassadors from other countries because she spoke so many languages. Because of the education
she received, the kingdom thrived.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Power Of American Dream In The Great Gatsby
It is what preyed on Gatsby, what foul dust floated in the wake of his dreams that temporarily
closed out my interest in the abortive sorrows and short winded elations of men (Fitzgerald, 7).
These words introduce the thinking behind the novel The Great Gatsby, a classic novel written by
Scott Fitzgerald that follows Jay Gatsbys idealistic American Dream. Gatsby s life revolves
around the idealistic nature that wealth and notoriety can result in having the life he desires. His
ambition to succeed in wealth inspires Gatsby s resolution to sunder the roots which define his
social standing and realise his own dream of position and prosperity. Gatsby s motivation for an
accumulation of wealth separates him from his similar affluent counterparts such as Tom and
Jordan, as the purpose for Gatsby s social elevation is not simply the product of his pursuit of
fortune, but in order to win Daisy Buchanan s love. The character of Jay Gatsby symbolizes the
fallacies of American Dream in valuing wealth, status, and noteriority ultimately leading to an
illusion of happiness. The story illustrate the corrupting power of wealth and materialistic values
in the pursuit of the American Dream. As Gatsby falls in love with Daisy because of her wealth,
beauty, and charm, he realizes that Daisy would reject him if she knew of his poverty and decides
to gain wealth through illegal bootlegging in order to make Daisy admire him. This results in
Gatsby adorning himself in expensive items such

The Importance Of Rape Views
Sometimes it feels like students get the same lectures over and over, ones with the same content,
same lessons, and same takeaways. Understandably, it becomes harder to feel involved in these
lectures and even more difficult to want to change because of one whether that change comes from
altering how you act around others or how you fundamentally react to situations. This is
unfortunately very true for how educators are teaching the student body and faculty about how rape
cases are handled and the preventative and reactive measures in place at Brigham Young University.
The instructions have become tedious, boring, and repetitive. Because of this, students aren t

In order to get everyone and anyone invested in learning about how to confront rape, lecturers
and workshops need to begin teaching in ways that engage the listeners, to employ methods that
will get their listeners interested in what they re teaching and to be better prepared. It s easy to
agree that you would rather know how to perform CPR before you re faced with someone who
needs it to save their life and aren t trying to look up a demo on Youtube video while someone s
life is in danger. Although rape is a different scenario completely and I understand that it has far
more traumatic consequences than I could even imagine, but, heaven forbid, if I am ever faced
with a situation of sexual assault either personally or with someone I love I certainly would wish
I had known everything about the policies beforehand. What we need are lecturers who are able
to reach us on a more personal level, who can look us in the eye and grab our attention then help
us to have a change in heart, to create a desire to learn more, to become professionals and
advocates of knowledge, especially relating to cases of sexual assault. Unfortunately, there is still

Portrayal of Women in the Media Essay
Portrayal of Women in the Media Gender is the psychological characteristics and social categories
that are created by human culture. Doing gender is the concept that humans express their gender
when they interact with one another. Messages about how a male or female is supposed to act
come from many different places. Schools, parents, and friends can influence a person. Another
major factor that influences millions of impressionable females and males is television. Not only
does the television teach each sexhow to act, it also shows how one sex should expect the other sex
to act. In the current television broadcasting, stereotypical behavior goes from programming for the

female. In this show as well, the male is in charge of the activity. These two shows are only a
small insight into how the rest of the programming world shows girls being virtuous and
motherly. In commercials, girls are seen playing games like В‘Pretty, Pretty, Princess and
В‘Barbie . Viewers rarely see girls in the sandbox digging holes with construction toys such as
dump trucks and packos. Also, women are more likely to be in some sort of serious romantic
relationship or married. On the other hand the romantic status of most male characters is not
known. These virtuous images not only give little girls the wrong ideas, but little boys as well.
This can lead the males to think they can t enjoy dressing up and playing pretend. Or that if a
girl is roughhousing with the boys or digging in the dirt, she is somehow not a real girl. This can
cause boys to harass a so called В‘tom boy or bully other boys who are В‘sissies . Female

Mummification And Death Rituals Of Ancient Egypt
In ancient Egypt, scarabs (a sacred large dung beetle from the Mediterranean area) first appeared
in the late Old Kingdom (c. 2575 c. 2130 BCE) and were used for the living, as a sign of good
luck. Then when they evolved from the so called button seals scarabs, they remained rare until
Middle Kingdom times (1938 c. 1630 BCE). This was because they were now being associated
with the afterlife and death. Some were used simply as ornaments and decoration, while others
were purely sacred in purpose, such as the large basalt heart scarabs of the New Kingdom (1539
1075 BCE). Later they were also placed in the bandages of mummies and were symbolically
identified with the heart of the deceased. (Lace, William. Mummification and Death Rituals of

Immediately thereafter, God introduces Himself, I am the God of your father, the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. (Exodus 3:6) God s relationship to Moses
renews generation after generation, from host to host and blessed father to blessed son.
Without this continuity, God would be a stranger, or at best a long lost relative, someone whom
Moses would not need and probably would not recognize. Recognition of God s sovereignty is
at the heart of worship, the driving theme of the Book of Exodus, and the reason God so
severely punishes the Egyptians. God does not punish the Egyptians for keeping the Israelites as
slaves. God punishes the Egyptians for Pharaoh s attempt to better God by sacrificing His
firstborn: Israel. Although many arguments can be made against human sacrifice, none mitigates
God s anger with Pharaoh. In general, God s anger is rarely pacified: not even Moses protects the
Israelite idol worshipers at Mt. Sinai. At Moses command, the Levites slay three thousand of their
brothers, friends, and neighbors the innocent along with the guilty. Believing God s wrath has
branded them with righteousness, Moses praises the survivors as blessed. God has other plans:
another plague. With the deaths of those who break Faith, God is satisfied. As Supreme Ruler,
God defends those who worship Him and destroys those who worship idols. After leading the

New Predictive Model For Vaginal Birth After Cesarean
A clear objective of this study has been demonstrated in the paper: To construct a new predictive
model for vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), which incorporates the factors that can only be
obtained as the pregnancy progresses and compare the new model with a previous model that
only have variables available at the first prenatal visit. In this study, authors stated that in a
previous model is limited to the variables which are available at the first prenatal visit, and they
want to know whether incorporating pregnant woman s most recent circumstances can refine
the predicted probability of VBAC. Model and Variables: Logistic model has been use in this
study. In previous model, only variables at first prenatal visit have been used. In this study,
Grobman et. al developed the model by adding the variables that can only be obtained as the
pregnancy progresses. Cross validation method was used to evaluate the predictive power of
models. Dataset was equally divided into two parts. Models were fitted on training set and
tested on testing set. Results The significant factors in the model were presented in table 1. In
Fig 1 and 2, calibration curves (empirical probabilities vs predicted probabilities) were presented.
The predicted probabilities are the mid points of five equal intervals (0% 20%, 21% 40%, ..., etc).

The Holocaust And The Extermination Of The Holocaust

by the Nazis during Hitler dictatorship. It all began when Hitler was given the opportunity by
Hindenburg to be Germany s chancellor on January 30, 1933. This opportunity turned in an
abuse of power, in fact Hitler governed Germany according to his belief. Hitler, and the Nazis
more in general, strongly believed in the German biological superiority. According to the article
Before Germans Slaughtered Jews They Slaughtered Africans , a mixed society in Germany was
seen as a threat to the national s identity. Jews, in particular, were considered sub human. For this
reason, under Hitler s Nazi regime, they were treated as animal or way differently from Germans.
But the separation occurred gradually; in fact, at the beginning of his governance, Jews had to
leave their homes and were placed in assigned ghettos where little or no food was available to
them. As months passed, ulterior separations occurred. Old

Organization Structure and Inter Organizational Dependency:

Contingency theory and Systems theory are the two dominant theories that bring out the link
between organization structure and the environment. Systems theory has evolved over time and
undergone several transitions.

linking with the object observer model from physics. Additionally, the paper gives a finer view of

Organizational environment is not dealt as it is not a part of the external environment.
Open vs. Closed Systems
The whole idea of systems theory was under question in embracing the open systems view which
was diametrically against the traditional closed system view. The traditional closed system relied on
the concept of internal efficiency and stability and the organization theorists downplayed the role of
the environment. It was the open systems view which brought the role of environment to the
forefront. Open and closed system were held across a continuum and partially open and partially
closed system gained prominence. A typology of object systems is given in Table 2.
It is noteworthy that a super imposition of object systems as such into systems theory of
organization is not genuine. The observational phase of science consists of at least an observer
and an object. The behavior of all the objects are contextual and one who looks into the dynamics
associated with the behavior of an object in a particular setting is defined as an observer by the
object systems. However, different observers decode the same behavior in different ways. The
same theory argues that process is any activity that involves change which is measured by duration,
succession and co existence. Thus, only open and closed systems are of importance and were
considered for the study of organizations. The other two quadrants were between the two

Broken April Analysis
Broken April Final Essay
In Broken April, Ismail Kadare conveys how social expectations and rules can mentally and
physically trap someone in a violent and depressing cycle.
In regards to being physically trapped, a character that conveys this idea is Gjorg. Kadare s
character does this throughout the text, and the conflicts Gjorg faces with his devotion to the
Kanun. In the beginning of the text while Gjorg is in the funeral procession, He is described as
[Feeling] the urge to get out of that absurd situation, to bolt from the funeral cortege . (pg 16).
And later on in that chapter of the text, it states that ...he knew very well that he could never run
away, no more than his grandfather, his great grandfather, his great great grandfather, and all his
ancestors five hundred, a thousands years before him had been able to run away. (pg 16). The
repetition of his ancestors convey a very trapped tone, showing not only that they could not run
away from the funeral, but the kanun itself. Later in the text, when Gjorg is on his way to pay
the blood tax, he thinks about the rules of the Kanun, and says that he could not escape its
definitions (pg 27). Again, the tone is very negative, and Kadare uses the phrase could not escape
to emphasize that no matter how much Gjorg wanted to, he had to obey the rules and definitions
within the Kanun. The last time Gjorg appears in this book is in chapter 7, when his bessa is over
and he is finally murdered. Before he dies, he thinks

According to Impact of Immigration on UK Economy, net migration shows a steady increase from
1991 to 2014, which caused the increases on aggregate demand and GDP in Britain. Since most of
immigrants aged above 18, they usually involved in labor market and caused rise on labor force.
From the chart of UK GDP v.si GDP per head, the GDP increased rapidly from 2005 to 2015. Even
though there was a depression during 2008, the overall GDP trend was still increased. Immigrants
tend to have higher education level. However, from government s official data, immigrants tend to
pay more taxes and receive less welfare benefit from government in this situration. From the data,
immigrants received 45% less than native citizens which shows an equal treatment between
immigrants and native citizens. Assume that immigrants pay some amount of tax with Native
Britains, the 45% of welfare benefit plays an important role on government finance(Bennett, 2013).
Bennett s report demostrated that immigrants paied more taxes than the benefit they received from
government, and positively influenced Britain s economy and GDP. If more and more people are
immigrants, and that the government will get more financial resources, which will help the UK

consumption accounts is the biggest piece of the overall economic development. Furthermore, it is
inevitable that consumption is always accompanied by tax, more spending will bring more tax
revenue. For the immigrants, they came to UK and brought more consumption, and paid more tax.

I Have Pretty Serious Concerns About Donald Trump
Just like on television, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump dominated the discussion
among a handful of voters scattered around Wayne County Tuesday.
All said this election was an important one and a big one which could change the direction the
country is headed and change how elections are done in the future.
For some, like Jennifer Gunnoe, who lives overseas in Tbilisi, Georgia, Trump was among the
motivating factors in getting out to vote.
I have pretty serious concerns about Donald Trump, Gunnoe said. I want my candidate to win, but
another major motivating factor is the state of our country if Donald Trump is elected.

Eleanor Tylka went to the parish hall at St. Mary Catholic Church to vote, which she feels is an

The Devil s Arithmetic And Comparison Essay
The Devil s Arithmetic Compare/Contrast Essay The Devil s Arithmetic teaches us countless
lessons throughout both forms of publishing. Each form however has a different lesson and
develops them in different ways. The book differentiates from the movie in numerous ways. In both
the book and the movie there are many similarities, but there is still diversity. Each form of media
develops their individual themes differently because that makes it more apparent for the viewers to
understand and absorb.
Jane Yolenwrote The Devil s Arithmetic with the main theme about remembering what
happened, sacrifices, and honoring those who died. Hannah Stern ,a 13 year old girl, is tired of
remembering and doesn t want to go to the Seder. Hannah faces a dream that seems like reality
where she learns what happened in Concentration Camps to the Jews. She learns that she must
remember what happened to the Jews and she learns about sacrifice and honoring the dead. After
waking from her dreams she realizes she must remember the Holocaust, honor the dead Jews, and
stay true to her religion. The Devil s Arithmetic film was made in 1999 based on the book written
by Jane Yolen. The movie highlights the horror and dismay the Jews faced in the camps. Hannah
the main character faces the disheartening nature of these camps in her dream which feels like
reality to her. Hannah learns about the Holocaust and what happens if you were in the camps
during the Holocaust while in her dream and she learns to

to Kant ethical theory?

law of nature .It states that act only in accordance with that maxim through which you can at the
same time will that become a universal law .It should be in conformity with concept of reversal
.It literally means that when we act to others and that is acceptable if others can also do it us

Let`s take up an interesting example of a child being drowned in pond .As a supporter of Kanthian
ethics ,what is my stand
,if we strictly adhered to the kanthian ethics ,then we shoul ignore the consequences of our
actions .Our very actions should be determined by the rightful duties .So we must jump into the
pond even if we are predicted the inability to save the drowning child from drowned or being
attacked by a crocodiles or some other harmful creatures ,even if we fail to do so we did
something morally good and praiseworthy .Here we can juxtapose the differences lie between the
principles of kanthian ethics and the utilitiraniasm or consequentalism. If we think boiling a baby is
morally wrong ,absolutely it is wrong .We have little bit of Kanthianiasmin us .When we

What Are The Jim Crow Laws
The Jim Crow laws according to Pilgrim, was more than a series of rigid anti Black laws. It was a
way of life. (V.) These laws happened everyday for blacks and it formed into a way of life for
them. Often time s these laws were completely unjust and made Blacks have to work a lot harder
in life or struggle to get by in life. For instance A Black male could not offer his hand with a
White male because it implied that they were socially equal (Pilgrim). That law in general is
outrageous and shows how the White peoplethought of blacks and wanted them to be on the
bottom of the totem pole. There were some reasons that these laws were put into place and
enforced. One of these was because doctors said that they were inferior to whites. Whites

Indeed, the constant technology revolution has major contribution in making our space and time

The Film The Others ( 2001 ) By Alejandro Amenabar
The film The Others (2001) by Alejandro AmenГЎbar is a ghost story based around a family that
believes they are being haunted by spirits in their home but come to realize they have already died
and are haunting the new family that moved to the house. The title of the film refers to servants
that abandoned the house and is used constantly throughout the film to reference the intruders and
other spirits the original family believe are residing there. The main lesson to be learned from the
film is that things are never as they appear which is proven when we find out that the mother,
Grace, killed her own children and is a ghostalong with her children. Since Grace is a ghost
attempting to live in a world where her children are alive, she is living in the past which we find
out leads to her breakdown when she finds out she is already dead. This theme of living in the past
can also be found in Our Town, which is another ghost story.
Our Town (1938) by Thornton Wilder is a play centered around the American lifestyle in 1901
that follows two people as they grow up together, get married and eventually pass away. Each of
the three acts showcase a different period in Emily s and George s life until Emily dies during
childbirth at the beginning of the third act. Then the play shifts to Emily s life as a ghost as she
reflects back on life and learns that you cannot repeat the past. This play, like The Others, features
invisible people but they do not appear to be a threat as they were in

According to our text, there are 5 competitive forces that help shape strategy: competition from
existing players, supplier bargaining power, customer bargaining power, threat of new players, and
threat of substitutes. (Thompson, Peteraf, Gamble Strickland, 2017).
Competition
Under Armour faces competition from Nike, the Adidas Group, as well as any new players.
Nike and the Adidas Group are larger corporations and therefore have more resources to develop
new products.

Interracial Intimacy Summary
Today, interracial relationships are socially acceptable but that has not always been the case.
Rachel M. Moran, author of Interracial Intimacy, argues that the freedom to love across the color
line is a recent phenomenon in American history. As late as the 1960s, U.S. states had the power to
prohibit races from intermarrying, at one point, mostly all 50 states have banned interracial
marriages. During the colonial era, anti miscegenation laws were used to define the differences
between whites and blacks; the statutes aimed at keeping racial privilege. It was not until 1967 that
anti miscegenation laws were overruled by the Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia. Furthermore,
several other factors contributed to the overruling of statutes... Show more content on

Connecticut, the right to marital privacy was established; the Court claimed that although the
Constitution does not explicitly protect individuals general right to privacy, the various
amendments, in conjunction, establish a right to privacy. The First, Third, Fourth, and Ninth
Amendments, altogether create the right to privacy in marital relations, therefore, interracial
marriages, too, have the right to marital privacy (Griswold 1965). With both cases rulings we can
deduce that interracial relationships should not have been prohibited because, as the cases indicate,
every person has the right to marital privacy. According to the cases, anti miscegenation statutes

Supply Chain of Blood and Products in a Blood Bank
The objective of this case study is
1.To study the existing supply chain of blood and blood products in a regional blood bank
2.To identify cost and risk related problems in the supply chain of blood and blood products and to
develop a solution for cost and risk minimization.
BACKGROUND
Human blood is not an ordinary commodity because it cannot be substituted and its need will
always exist. Blood and blood products are also perishable, which complicates things even further.
Shortages lead to high costs for society and outdates on the other hand are not commonly accepted
either, since blood donors are a scarce asset of society and donors must respect a certain time period
between two donations, depending on the type of donation.
Blood Bank services are a key component of the healthcare system all over the world and a well
organised Blood Transfusion Service is a vital component of any health care delivery system and
yet the study and the analysis of such systems from a supply chain perspective have been a few
especially in India. The National Blood Policy of India aims to ensure easily accessible and
adequate supply of safe and quality blood and blood components, which is free from transfusion
transmitted infections, and is stored and transported under optimum conditions.

Investigating The Internal Controls Of The Business...
Fraud prevention is a concern to both small businesses and large corporations alike. Business
owners place their trust into employees who are hired to perform duties that contribute to the
success of the company. When that trust is broken, or ideally before this occurs, businesses must
look to their internal controls in an effort to limit the opportunity for such malicious behavior. The
purpose of this paper is to define internal controls, explain the purpose it serves in the business
environment, and common internal control measures. Additionally, an example of internal control
from this author s employer will be discussed as well as an incidence of embezzlement found while
researching this topic. Let s first take a look at its definition and some examples. Internal controls,
as defined by Investopedia.com, are methods put in place by a company to ensure the integrity of
financial and accounting information, meet operational and profitability targets, and transmit
management policies throughout the organization. This system works best when applied to
multiple divisions and deal with inter departmental transactions. An example of the latter may be
those occurring between the originating department from where the transaction is originated,
supply management, and accounts payable. These methods can be broken down between a
preventative and a detective category. Preventive controls are just such: those policies and
procedures that prevent an incident from occurring.

The Effect Of Heat On The Transport And Removal Of...
Effect of heat on the transport and removal of contaminants from soil
1.Introduction
1.1 Background
Soil remediation has emerged as an important field in Applied Sciences due to its potential in
environmental clean up of harmful chemicals and contaminants. Various incidents in the past like
the deep water horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has raised an alarming question regarding
how to protect the environments encountering such devastating effects and restore them to their
original state. In this regard, researchers have put together their efforts coming from various
disciplines to be able to find a solution for this challenging question.
Soil forms an important asset of today s urban and rural population. Crops growing on fertile soils
are important for feeding the millions around the globe. Accidental oil spills from water bodies and
industries contaminate the soil in its vicinity. Also, pollution due to pesticides and insecticides have
increasingly demanded soil clean up and restoration. Often we lay more emphasis on the role of
biotic agents in remediation/ biodegradation but forget the important role that some physical effects
have on the remediation of soils. This can be more advantageous and often is more effective in
contaminant removal than other chemical or biological processes. The potential for using such an
approach is clear in the fact that such methods are currently being used at some Superfund sites
throughout the United States. They have been proven

Evaluation Of A Summative Evaluation
Component Two
Type of evaluation The type of evaluation that will be conducted will be a summative evaluation.
The summative evaluation will be conducted at the end of the program to see if the goals of the
program were accomplished. Were the children able to learn about nutrition
Evaluation Goals
1)To determine if this program is successful in educating the children in various cooking techniques.
2)To help children in a low income area discover affordable ways to meal preparation.
3)To determine if the program can be conducted in other low in come areas.
Evaluation Questions
1)Are the children committed to coming to the class on a weekly basis?
2)Is the program providing the children with life skills they can apply at home?
3)Are the children enjoying the program?
Rationale
The rationale of this evaluation is to confirm that the goals of the program are being meet. That the
children are being educated in making healthy choices and participating in the program. In order
for the evaluation to be accurate research needs to determine if the program will be effective.
Component Three
Literature Review Learning how to cook is an essential life skill that not only children need but
youth as well. In an article by Jessica Herbert and her fellow authors they mentioned how by
participating in a cooking program it helps children gain a new perspective on cooking (Herbert et
al.2014). Mardie Townsend mentioned in the article Volunteering in a School Kitchen Garden

The Wonderful Workforce
Separation in the workforce between male and female jobs creates a setting of inequality and
instability in the work force, which limits certain career paths citizens should pursue and promotes
an idea of inequality in employment opportunities. In tradition, the man is the breadwinner of the
family; while this has changed, men still dominate many career paths. Once upon a time, only
men were allowed to play sports in high school. This had drastically changed, due to Title IX, a
law that provided opportunities to different career paths ( Mythbusting ). But, on a professional
sport level, women are not seen playing in the NFL or the NBA. Women have their own leagues,
like the Women s Basketball Association. There are blended sports, but, for the most part, men and
women are separate. The main argument is that women are not as physically able as men and
therefore, they should not compete with men. People see this separation as fair; but, this gender
separation will lead to men controlling the sports world (Faulmueller 1 2). However, the amount of
women in professional coaching careers is diminutive. A mere two to three percent of maleteams are
coached by females and in women s sports, the amount of femalecoaches has plummeted forty two
percent; female coaches already earn less than their counterparts and many are now struggling to
find new careers (Waldron 2. Facts 40). Another career path where women are poorly represented is
the military. The 1994 Direct Ground

The Gig Is Up by Nathan Heller is a lengthy article that appeared in The New Yorker, an American
magazine. In his article, Heller explains that more and more people are relying on a gig
economy as their source of income. He focuses on the millennials more than any other generation
because they seem to rely on this economy more. Although gigging can make life a lot more
simple, Heller leaves his audience with a lingering question. Can they survive it? He sets the stage
for his audience by telling a personal experience of his. He moved into an apartment but minor
tasks such as hanging picture frames and artwork had yet to be finished. When the incompletion of
tasks became overwhelming he found an online source, TaskRabbit, and hired someone to
complete the tasks for him. He found a man by the name of Seth F., who wore no tie but had a

A final conversation with Flickers leaves the audience wondering how great the gig economy
actually is: He rarely met other taskers, he said; there were no colleagues in his life with whom
he could share experiences and struggles. The flexibility was great, if you had something to be
flexible for. The gig economy is such a lonely economy (Heller 63). Not only does the excerpt
appeal to ethos but also pathos. The strategies used throughout the article make the audience
think about the opportunities the gig economy provides but also the problems it can create as
well. Highly educated people like Seth Flickers who are a part of this economy are now more than
ever before, aware of the careers that they re not pursuing (Heller 55). When people work twenty
or less hours a week, like Seth F., there tends to be more time to think about how comfortable they
are with the way of life. The gig economy does not allow its workers to have a fallback plan or a

The Importance Of Attacks During An Emergency
Attacks such as 9/11 and other recent disasters have forced organizations to become more proactive
rather than waiting for an emergency to happen and then responding afterwards which leads to
astronomical costs and fines to companies. The approach to risk management in organizations is
looking more extensively at their technology infrastructure and deciding the best ways to recovery
of data and making sure the employees can still work. Organizations have greater awareness of the
importance of recovery and the time an organization will need to recover. Additionally,
organizations are spending more money on IT and new technologies that will allow employees to

Organizations do need to consider geographic locations when preparing for backup operations or
datacenters. The effects of recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO)
help organizations make decisions such as where they should locate their secondary site and if
it is at enough distance from the primary site to ensure that if a natural disaster takes out one, it
won t take out the other. Ultimately, organizations need to know how fast their critical
operations can be back online before putting the business at serious risk. The recovery point
objective (RPO) is the time files that must be recovered from backup storage for normal
operations to resume if a computer, system, or network goes down because of a hardware,
program, or communications failure (Manning, 2014). The Recovery Time Objective (RTO)
specifies how long an organization will need to recover. Organizations may have multiple RTOs
depending on the data involved. For example, one RTO may specify how long before the major
functions of the enterprise are back on line while a second, longer, RTO will determine how long
until everything is fully recovered. It is an important consideration in disaster recovery planning

  • 2. Deer Persuasive Essay What if I told you there was a way to save so many lives by just keeping one animal off of the roads? There is a serious problem that a lot of people are facing especially late at night. There have been as horrible incidents as to where people have lost their lives. Or in less serious but still devastating incidents peoples cars become completely totaled. You never know you might just be on a late night drive heading down main street to pick your kid up from soccer practice when all of a sudden a deerjumps out from nowhere in front of your car and completely destroys it. That is just talking about damage to the car too. Hitting a deer can also put your life at risk and can cause fatal injuries. Deer have been coming down from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The car suffered severe damage including the passenger side door wouldn t open. And one of the headlights was completely broken and the alignment of the car was completely off because the deer was hit at such a high speed. And then after the auto body shop finally found time to look at the car the total bill was thousands of dollars. Overall something needs to be done to keep deer off of public roads (Potter). Solution Given these points, something has to be done to keep deer off of public roads. There are many different ideas and solutions that have been brought up to prevent this serious issue. But nothing has actually ever been done publicly at least where I live to keep deer off of public roads. We are facing a serious issue everyday. Our public roads have become crossing ground for deer. We should put out large salt blocks around the the bases of all mountains surrounding the city and public roads. The salt blocks would be very large so they would last a very long time. They would be placed every 5 miles around the bases of all mountains surrounding the city and public roads. This would go into effect immediately by putting the salt blocks out right now before more deer start to come down the mountain. The city will pay for these salt blocks and instruct city workers where to strategically place them so that they cannot be passed by deer coming down the mountain. The deer will then stop and lick the salt blocks instead of coming down and crossing public ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Pearl Harbor Case Study 5c. Describe the opening moves of each side. How did the attacking forces move their units across the line of departure? The attacking forces, 2nd Battalion Raiders, moved their forces through the line of departure via submarine and rubber boat. The USS Argonaut (SM 1)(EX V4) and USS Nautilus (SS 168)(EX V6) transported rubber inflatable motor boats to the Makin Atoll (Carlson s Marine Raiders: Makin Island 1942, Gordon L. Rottman 24 25). The transit of the troops took around 9 days from Pearl Harbor due to its winding path to avoid obvious detection. Submarines held position within 500 yds of the reef line to deploy troops and rubber boats. The rubber boats were held within the external torpedo storage of the submarines along with weapons and supplies for the mission (Rottman 43). The twelve rubber boats from the Argonaut traveled towards the Nautilus, with it s eight boats joining them, and continued towards the island. Company A (Carlson s Group) had landed on Beach Z (actual) instead of Beach Y (planned) which was an improvement since they re closer to the target. The Raiders made it to land but some boats got capsized causing the spread of weapons and supplies along the beach, or separated from the group. Peatross group that was separated from the main body had advanced towards objective despite lack of numbers. How did the defending forces react to the attack? The natives of the land, that were supposedly working for the Japanese, had welcomed and hospitalized the Raiders. False information had been given to them, though, when Raiders inquired of Japanese personnel (Rottman 46 47). The Japanese soldiers had seemingly anticipated the attack or had been aware of it with no reports of the natives. Japanese soldiers had been deployed close to where the path and position of the target of the Raiders (Rottman 47). This was most likely due to the panic friendly fire shots by Raiders which had occurred frequently throughout the Raider s presence. The Japanese had automobiles and special weaponry, such as flamethrowers, machine guns, etc. to use on the island against the Raiders as well. The Japanese had also placed camouflaged snipers amongst the palms in advance to pick off any hiding or unprepared Raider ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Emile Durkheim Religion Through ethnographic research, Durkheim can explain the fundamentals of religion and its relation to society. We are not born with the innate knowledge of structural situations or cultural effects that occur within a society. Nor, are we aware of the effects our behaviors and attitudes have on a society. Durkheim s worked untimely explained how the moral realm functioned by focusing on primitive religion. Religious ceremonies closely resemble social life, containing highly routined acts. The essential elements of religion include rites which are expressed by rituals and practice. Rituals unite social groups regardless of individual differences, which are found in both modern and traditional societies because rituals are a part of both. Durkheim noted, to have a... I, for example, am very unfamiliar with the society of sports, however, I am able to apply Durkheim s fundamental concepts to deconstruct the sacred and profane of it. In football or any other major sports, has become a religion for many. How so? Sports fans often elevate their players and define them as a god to the team, and practice rituals for certain games, their church is their stadium where their follows go to admire and support them. The put significant sacredness on their team s logo (symbols) and despise the profane acts such as jinxing the team by doing something out of the usual routine. Although such example is a bit extreme, it does prove Durkheim s observations and considerations of collective representation in making a society cohesive. If society did not have these elements, it would cause constant chaos and further disagreements on morality. Economic Impact Of The Germany Economy Germany today is seen as successful, thriving and prospering nation with a strong economy putting it ahead of its European counterparts, one of which is the United Kingdom. Despite the challenging economic setting within the European Union, Germany continues to be one of the world s most influential and dynamic economies. Business and investment freedom are robust. Long term competitiveness and entrepreneurial growth are supported by openness to global commerce, well protected property rights, and a sound business regulatory environment. The German economy has progressively developed from the effects of the global financial crisis, which had a serious negative impact both on Germany s public finances and on its economic growth. In addition to this a couple of decades after Germany`s industrialisation it had experienced hyperinflation following poor government decisions which had become unpleasant with the German population. Policies such as the war bonds and taxes being reused resulted in public anxiety. Paying reparations by printing more money had resulted in a fall in the currency. The economic impacts of industrialisation will be highlighted throughout the project. The effects of industrialisation on the economy: What is industrialisation? It is the process by which an economy is converted from primarily agricultural to one created on the manufacturing of goods. Individual manual labour is often replaced by mechanized mass production, and craftsmen are replaced by assembly lines. Features of industrialization include economic growth, more efficient division of labour, and the use of technological innovation to solve problems as opposed to dependency on conditions outside human control i.e. the weather for agricultural work. Economic and historical research has showed that industrialization is linked to rising educations, longer life spans, growing individual and national income, and improved overall quality of life, in the long term which could be a period of many years. The beginning of the industrialisation in Germany: In the beginning of the 18th century, Germany was not a united nation and was economically weak and slow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Wonderous Words of Charles Dickens Come to Life in the... Charles Dickens is an infamous writer of wondrously worded and descriptive British Victorian novels. Not only does he go above and beyond the call of a writer to descriptively transform worlds around him into literary works of art, but he also has a way in which he is able to hide different symbolic sentiments and objects that seem to pop up around each and every twist and turn he gives us. Oliver Twist is no different. Charles Dickenscleverly centered the entire novel on twists and objects that do just that; such as handkerchiefs, neckties and ropes. The handkerchief is an ongoing symbol that has different significances that really pull the entire novel together. In Oliver Twist, the handkerchief takes on its own meaning and symbol of brilliantly tying Oliver s world that is full of twists and turns itself, all together. We are first introduced to the image or symbol of the handkerchief when Oliver encounters Faginand his mischievous group of young thieves. After running away from his apprenticeship that he was treated poorly at, Oliver goes to the city of London. There, Jack Dawkins also known as the Artful Dodgertook pity on him and gave him not only food and shelter, but a deal with the devil as well. Dawkins takes Oliver to Fagin (also known as the Jew ); the leader of a group of thieves, and this is where the handkerchief makes a first and lasting impression. Dickens writes Oliver to be very observant and he notices the handkerchiefs while he is taking in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Rise And Development Of Liberalism The concept of ownership is one that seems elementary; however, when thought about, it is something very puzzling and convoluted. You do not really own anything unless you created it. You can buy a book with your own money that you earned, and you will have that book, but you will not truly own it. You did not write the words inside it or drew the art on the cover, it is not yours. You do not even own the paper upon which the book is printed. You just have possession of another person s creation. People are most often guided into thinking that if you have something, you own it. The rise and development of liberalism in Enlightenment political thought has many relations with the growth of what is today called civil society , the society characterized by work and trade in pursuit of private property. Several Enlightenment thinkers, such as John Locke had thoughts about ownership and what it means to be an owner of private property. In Locke s Second Treatise he writes: It is very clear, that God, as king David says, Psal. cvx. 16, has given the earth to the children of men; given it to mankind in common. But this being supposed, it seems to some a very great difficulty how any one individual should ever come to have a property in any thing ... I shall endeavour to show how men might come to have a property in several parts of that which God gave to mankind in common, and that without any express compact of all the commoners He makes the point of that while we all share ... • 11. Similarities Between Jane Eyre And Chinese Cinderella Both of the stimulus texts show the struggle of unwanted girls in different eras and countries and explore the theme of orphans. Jane Eyre is known as one of the most famous orphans in literature, therefore, the text would be ideal for the theme. The two texts: Chinese Cinderella and Jane Eyre, share some similarities; Jane Eyreis an orphanliving with her aunt, Mrs Reed, and although Adeline lives with her father and her step mum she lives like an outsider just like Jane. In the autobiography Adeline is treated poorly by her parents just like Jane Eyre is by Mrs Reed. Although, Adeline is not a typical orphan she is treated as one by her father. So I decided charity appeal to help less fortunate girls would be appropriate and an Ofsted report to show the treatment of orphans in the Victorian era in a comedic manner. The charity appeal targets parents, particularly women because they possess maternal instincts making them more empathetic towards abandoned young girls because they can relate. The sole purpose of the text is to persuade people to donate money to a charity which supports orphaned girls in China because Adeline is Chinese. Alternatively, it was written to educate those unaware of mass amounts of abandoned girls in China. The text is inspired primarily by Adeline Yen Mahs autobiography, Chinese Cinderella. Yen Mah writes about her childhood, growing up as an unwanted child, If you had not been born, Mama would still be alive . Similarly, Jane Eyre is an unwanted girl which is why she is sent by Mrs Reed to Lowood the focus of my second text, a parody of an Ofsted report. The text was written for ... Trauma Theory Association Between Damage Associated Molecular Patterns and Outcomes in Trauma Patients Introduction Despite medical advancements over the past decade, trauma remains the leading cause of fatality among persons 1 to 44 years of age, and is the 4th leading cause of death among all ages in the United States1,2. Although many trauma victims succumb to overwhelming injuries early on, patients who survive initial injury undergo a period of immunoinflammatory dysregulation which under overwhelming circumstances, can lead to organ dysfunction, respiratory distress syndrome (ARDs), nosocomial infection, multiple organ failure (MOF), and ultimately death3,4. Review Of No Art Passes Our Conscience On The Way Film Chapter 1 | INTRODUCTION TO TASK No art passes our conscience in the way film does, and goes directly to our feelings, deep down into the dark rooms of our souls. Ingmar Bergman1 Making motion pictures is business from over a century. Though, this field is considered as the most expensive form of Art. To execute a perfect scene, there are hundreds of people working behind the camera, holding and managing equipments. Equipments are for enhancing the beauty of film. Now a day this art is not limited for film theatres or multiplexes. We live in an era of Internet and have plenty of platforms like YouTube and Vimeo and Netflix to showcase this art. But for small production house, it s impossible to have the same equipments as the mighty film makers has. This project work is to help out those productions which cannot afford the advance technology named Motion control. The technique is commonly used when duplication of an element which cannot be physically duplicated is required; motion control is the primary method of featuring multiple shots of the same actor in a scene that consist of camera movement. For this method, the camera typically films exactly the same motion in exactly the same location while the actor performs different parts. The plasticity at a young age presents itself in an enormous amount which allows the brain to change and adapt. When a child is bestowed with a traumatic experience at a young age they learn from that and are effected tremendously, because that s all the knowledge they contain. Traits are hard wired into people and that coming from parents it already sets a path to follow and in a way already makes them who they are, but an environment plays a substantial role in molding a person. One experience can change a person forever depending on the level of intensity of the situation. The genes of a person help decide their decisions and the environment in which they are raised also grants a contribution towards the development of the brain. Furthermore, at a young age the brain is not completely developed to its maximum potential of functioning. The frontal lobe, which controls decision making, problem solving, and judgement, isn t fully developed till the age of twenty five. Young children pick up and mimic actions they observe from others which helps create their personality and reasoning of action. For example if I buy a Brut Deodorant for a $ 1.00, it s quality wouldn t be the same as the one that I would buy from Maycees. Same goes with other products. The way they work is not completely known, but it is thought that they limit the reabsorption of serotonin into the presynaptic cell which increases the extracellular level of the serotonin. They are used for symptoms of moderate to severe depression, but are shown to be more effective in more severe cases. • 35. New Predictive Model For Vaginal Birth After Cesarean A clear objective of this study has been demonstrated in the paper: To construct a new predictive model for vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), which incorporates the factors that can only be obtained as the pregnancy progresses and compare the new model with a previous model that only have variables available at the first prenatal visit. In this study, authors stated that in a previous model is limited to the variables which are available at the first prenatal visit, and they want to know whether incorporating pregnant woman s most recent circumstances can refine the predicted probability of VBAC. Model and Variables: Logistic model has been use in this study. In previous model, only variables at first prenatal visit have been used. In this study, Grobman et. al developed the model by adding the variables that can only be obtained as the pregnancy progresses. Cross validation method was used to evaluate the predictive power of models. Dataset was equally divided into two parts. Models were fitted on training set and tested on testing set. Results The significant factors in the model were presented in table 1. In Fig 1 and 2, calibration curves (empirical probabilities vs predicted probabilities) were presented. The predicted probabilities are the mid points of five equal intervals (0% 20%, 21% 40%, ..., etc). The empirical probabilities were calculated by average all women in the same interval. Imagine a four years old being given up by his family for a better future. Imagine your mom being killed because she is not productive to the society and your dad being forced to hard labor, including moving dead bodies of people from a place to another, for years. Imagine doing this and knowing that this one day can happens to you. . This was the Holocaust. The holocaust is known as the extermination of 6 millions of Jews by the Nazis during Hitler dictatorship. It all began when Hitler was given the opportunity by Hindenburg to be Germany s chancellor on January 30, 1933. This opportunity turned in an abuse of power, in fact Hitler governed Germany according to his belief. Hitler, and the Nazis more in general, strongly believed in the German biological superiority. According to the article Before Germans Slaughtered Jews They Slaughtered Africans , a mixed society in Germany was seen as a threat to the national s identity. Jews, in particular, were considered sub human. For this reason, under Hitler s Nazi regime, they were treated as animal or way differently from Germans. But the separation occurred gradually; in fact, at the beginning of his governance, Jews had to leave their homes and were placed in assigned ghettos where little or no food was available to them. Systems theory has evolved over time and undergone several transitions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Organizational environment is not dealt as it is not a part of the external environment. Open vs. Closed Systems The whole idea of systems theory was under question in embracing the open systems view which was diametrically against the traditional closed system view. The traditional closed system relied on the concept of internal efficiency and stability and the organization theorists downplayed the role of the environment. It was the open systems view which brought the role of environment to the forefront. Open and closed system were held across a continuum and partially open and partially closed system gained prominence. A typology of object systems is given in Table 2. It is noteworthy that a super imposition of object systems as such into systems theory of organization is not genuine. The observational phase of science consists of at least an observer and an object. The behavior of all the objects are contextual and one who looks into the dynamics associated with the behavior of an object in a particular setting is defined as an observer by the object systems. However, different observers decode the same behavior in different ways. The same theory argues that process is any activity that involves change which is measured by duration, succession and co existence. Broken April Analysis Broken April Final Essay In Broken April, Ismail Kadare conveys how social expectations and rules can mentally and physically trap someone in a violent and depressing cycle. In regards to being physically trapped, a character that conveys this idea is Gjorg. Kadare s character does this throughout the text, and the conflicts Gjorg faces with his devotion to the Kanun. In the beginning of the text while Gjorg is in the funeral procession, He is described as [Feeling] the urge to get out of that absurd situation, to bolt from the funeral cortege . (pg 16). Later in the text, when Gjorg is on his way to pay the blood tax, he thinks about the rules of the Kanun, and says that he could not escape its definitions (pg 27). Again, the tone is very negative, and Kadare uses the phrase could not escape to emphasize that no matter how much Gjorg wanted to, he had to obey the rules and definitions within the Kanun. The title of the film refers to servants that abandoned the house and is used constantly throughout the film to reference the intruders and other spirits the original family believe are residing there. Business owners place their trust into employees who are hired to perform duties that contribute to the success of the company. When that trust is broken, or ideally before this occurs, businesses must look to their internal controls in an effort to limit the opportunity for such malicious behavior. The purpose of this paper is to define internal controls, explain the purpose it serves in the business environment, and common internal control measures. Additionally, an example of internal control from this author s employer will be discussed as well as an incidence of embezzlement found while researching this topic. Let s first take a look at its definition and some examples. Internal controls, as defined by Investopedia.com, are methods put in place by a company to ensure the integrity of financial and accounting information, meet operational and profitability targets, and transmit management policies throughout the organization. Effect of heat on the transport and removal of contaminants from soil 1.Introduction 1.1 Background Soil remediation has emerged as an important field in Applied Sciences due to its potential in environmental clean up of harmful chemicals and contaminants. Various incidents in the past like the deep water horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has raised an alarming question regarding how to protect the environments encountering such devastating effects and restore them to their original state. In this regard, researchers have put together their efforts coming from various disciplines to be able to find a solution for this challenging question. Soil forms an important asset of today s urban and rural population. Crops growing on fertile soils are important for feeding the millions around the globe. Accidental oil spills from water bodies and industries contaminate the soil in its vicinity. Also, pollution due to pesticides and insecticides have increasingly demanded soil clean up and restoration. Often we lay more emphasis on the role of biotic agents in remediation/ biodegradation but forget the important role that some physical effects have on the remediation of soils. The Wonderful Workforce Separation in the workforce between male and female jobs creates a setting of inequality and instability in the work force, which limits certain career paths citizens should pursue and promotes an idea of inequality in employment opportunities. In tradition, the man is the breadwinner of the family; while this has changed, men still dominate many career paths. Once upon a time, only men were allowed to play sports in high school. This had drastically changed, due to Title IX, a law that provided opportunities to different career paths ( Mythbusting ). But, on a professional sport level, women are not seen playing in the NFL or the NBA. Women have their own leagues, like the Women s Basketball Association. There are blended sports, but, for the most part, men and women are separate. The main argument is that women are not as physically able as men and therefore, they should not compete with men. People see this separation as fair; but, this gender separation will lead to men controlling the sports world (Faulmueller 1 2). However, the amount of women in professional coaching careers is diminutive. A mere two to three percent of maleteams are coached by females and in women s sports, the amount of femalecoaches has plummeted forty two percent; female coaches already earn less than their counterparts and many are now struggling to find new careers (Waldron 2.
