Essay on Mesoamerican Astronomy
Introduction For centuries, people from all latitudes have been fascinated by the night sky. The
unreachable stars, the Moon, the comets and all the events happening in the sky, fired up
imaginations and became symbols of life and death, of war, peace and the passing of time and the
seasons. The movement of the stars was used to establish the time for planting and harvesting, to
prepare for the long winters and to try to discover the future and destiny, the eternal unknown
destiny of the human race. Three large human groups, the Mayans, the Aztecs and the Zapotecs
populated the Central and Southeastern regions of Mexico long before the discovery of the
continent by Columbus. These ancient cultures developed a very complex knowledge of... Show

They produced a very accurate 360 day long calendar they used to measure long periods of time.
Developing an extended astronomical knowledge was not very easy because their astronomers
did all their observations with the naked eye. However, they were able to do all kinds of
incredibly precise astronomical measurements and calculate the seasons, the solstices and eclipses.
They did all this by following the patterns of the movements of planets and stars, observing the
shadows cast by the Sun, and using some rudimentary instruments. The practice of astronomy was
relegated to the ilhuica tlamatilizmatini, or wise man who studies heaven . These priest
astronomers had a great amount of power, given the fact that they could essentially predict the

Mechanism of action of organophosphorus compounds used in pesticides and nerve agents is
the same however, the compounds in pesticides are developed to be more specific on insects

After exposing to organophosphorus compounds, prevention of serine aging and release of

Swan Lake Analysis
Matthew Bourne s Swan Lake was first performed at the Sadler Wells Theatre in London in 1995.
Bourne s version of Swan Lake is the longest running ballet in London s West End and on
Broadway. It has been performed in a number different countries such as United Kingdom, Europe,
Australia, South Korea, Japan, Israel and Singapore. Mathew Bourne s rendering is best known for
having traditionally female parts of the swans danced by men. Graeme Murphy version of Swan
Lake is not so much a battle between Odette (Good) and Odile (evil), which is presented through
the original Swan Lake. But it examines love and betrayal, and other elements of the original story.
Through comparing and contrasting Acts 2 and Act 4 of Graeme Murphy s rendering of Swan Lake
and Mathew Bourne s Act 2 and Act 4, this essay will interpret and evaluate how each
choreographer portrays movement and non movement components throughout their piece.
Act 2 By Royal Command, Odette is committed to a sanatorium
Throughout Act 2 by royal command, Odette is determined to a mental institution. Graeme Murphy
effective interprets Movement and non movement components throughout the duration of Act 2. He
uses movement components such as general and personal space, contracting, sustained and
repetition movements. He also interprets Port de bra, Allegro, Chaines and jete. He uses these to
portray the emotion of Odette frustration and here transition into a swan, he also uses abstract and

Analysis Of Frederick Douglass s World Literature
Jenifer E. Forrest Leslie LovensteinWorld Literature from 1650 to the Present Online 26
November 2014 Frederick Douglass: From Chains to Podium When a man grows up as an
untaught slave in the southern eighteenth century, he has no other ambitions than to be free. But
for Frederick Douglass, freedom was merely step one. Douglass began his life on a plantation
owed from the moment he arrived. He was not destined to stay put there. Born in (what he can
come close to) 1818, he began life out as a man in chains but ended up a respected wordsmith,
but still apologetic for his short comings. Douglass learned how to read, write, and give
speeches; he influenced a nation for changes among writers today; and he had different
approaches to the era he lived in, but knew he wanted change to exist among all. These things
were needed to occur in order for the slavery and African American society to be recognized as
equals among all. His wit was not small nor was his leadership not seen as defiance. Each step of
his journey, brought him to a different place where he faced a challenge that could not have
been met any other way, but with strength and education where he was successful in obtaining.
Douglass was not only a speaker, but was an author of his time. Many colleagues wrote of him and
his life even after he passed away. In Douglass works he spoke of his ignorance and blunders, but
continued to sow his good seed. In the book The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglas an

The Revolt Of Mother
American Realism: The Movement American Realism is defined as a literary movement in which
the author focused on writing about life as it actually was. Realist authors, such as William Dean
Howells, Mary E. Wilkins Freeman, and Charles Chesnutt, wrote about common life experiences
rather than on how one wanted their life to be like. The whole movement of American Realism
involved a transition of the reader s mind from the previous movement, American Romanticism.
American Romanticism focused on the ideal lifestyle involving imagination and emotion. Realistic
author s purpose in their writing was to get people to view life as it was when they woke up in the
morning. This is only one characteristic to define a work as realistic. Other characteristics... Show

Wilkins Freeman s, the author of The Revolt of Mother, purpose in writing this story was to
bring awareness to feminism, which could also be the Cult of Domesticity. The Cult of
Domesticity was a collection of attitudes that associated true womanhood with the home and
family. Women were to manage their homes, children, and husbands. They were not allowed to
engage in hard labor, political life, nor eth competitive individualism of the industrial economy,
just like feminism. In the story, Mother wants to know why were there men digging in the field
and after she kept asking Father, he told her that they were building a cellar for a new barn. She
asked him why he would build a barn when they needed a house but he did not answer and he
left. She asked her son, Sammy, what was Father going to do with the barn and he told her that
Father was going to buy four cows. Her actions of washing the dishes vigorously made it known
that she was upset but she did not say a word. While washing dishes, her daughter, Nanny, asks
her if she thought it was too bad that Father was building a new barn as much as they needed a
house. Mother tells her that they are women and women know only what men folks think we
do, so far as any use of it goes, an how we d ought to reckon men folks in with Providence an not
complain of what they do any more than we do of the weather, which means it s not a woman s
place to question a man about his work even if she disagrees. After dinner Mother had a talk with
Father about a new house versus a new barn. She stood her ground on why they needed another
house by pointing out the flaws in the current house such as limited space. Father did not answer
Mother s question of whether he thought it was right to build another barn when they needed a
house. Instead he went back to the field. Time passes and Father gets an opportunity to go to
Vermont to buy a horse. While Father is away, Mother demanded that the men not put anything in

Essay On Outsourcing American Jobs
Outsourcing American Jobs
Outsourcing, no word in today s workforce is so loved or hated. Depending on who you are it is
the greatest thing ever or an evil act by money hungry businesses at the expense of American
workers. But what is the truth? Is it good? Is it bad? Is it both? Perhaps more importantly, what is it
exactly?
Many people think that outsourcing is jobs that were held in this country going somewhere else.
That is not entirely accurate. Outsourcing is actually one company paying another to do some
work for it. Outsourcing can be as simple as paying a company to paint your building. Or it can be
as complex as paying a company to control your human resources department.
When you think of outsourcing it is probably ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The save don?t pass the savings on to you and pocket the money. This can be good for employees
at the company (probably more so the higher you go up) and it can be good for stock holders if it
is a publicly traded company. Sometimes the companies can reinvest the money back into the
company and use it for marketing or innovations which can intern help the company make more
money.
Saving money isn?t the only reason to outsource though. In Dash?s article the number two
reason given was ?Having access to experts? that was given by 38% of the companies. But what
does that mean? Simply put it means that good help can be hard to find. And if you?re a
company that needs to have something done it may be hard to wait and see if you can find
people that are able to do the work for you. It may be easier to outsource to a company that already
has skilled employees trained to do the work.
In the days were most outsourced jobs were low wage and for unskilled labor most people didn?t
pay much attention. Or no one brought it too there attention. When a McDonalds closes not
many people think about the people who are loosing there jobs. I mean who in the U.S. wants to
work a minimum wage job anyways right. But when the jobs are of people who are making forty
to eighty thousand a year people sit up and pay attention. Middle class hard working people are
loosing there jobs something has to be done. This is the United States who has better trained people

Hydrauling Fracturing is a process used in nine out of ten natural gas wells in the United States,
where millions of gallons of water, sand and chemicals are pumped underground to break apart the
rock and release the gas. Hydrauling Fracturing damages the land, contaminates drinking water,
pollutes the air, cause illness in surrounding communities and has aslo known to cause earthquakes
(Goldman, Jennifer). It has major threats towards our climate. Methane gas the main competed of
natural gas is less common but more potent to greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide 85 to 105 time
more powerful than carbon dioxide at disrupting the climate over 20 years (Goldman, Jennifer
).Water and Pollution are also infected by this. In Texas and Colorado more than 3.6 million
gallons of water are used very time a well is fracked. Fracking fluids and waste have made their
way to our drinking water and aquifers (Hoffman, Joe ). The counter argument to this problems is
fossil complains claiming that these fracking fluids are harmless because they re roughly 2%
chemicals and 98% other.
The Sierra Club enforces the environmental law and targets the most pressing issues of our

Crime And Punishment During The Elizabethan Era
Crime and Punishment Draft The topic of crime has been booming in modern day news. Stories
of corrupt policemen and sexual misconduct allegations have flooded social media and everyday
conversation, but crime has always been a large aspect of society. However, modern day laws
have been overall consistent for a long period of time. During the Elizabethan era, many new crimes
and punishments were created by a growing development and knowledge. Accordingly, the
evolution of law grew dramatically during the Elizabethan age.
Laws originated from localism and were often controlled by ecclesiastical courts until the
medieval age ended. Laws were influenced heavily by the idea of localism, which commonly
revolved around the need for local goods, local government, and a local justice system. Often crime
was defined by ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s
conception of sin were handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to
define crime became a duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to
define crimes, even crimes of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until
the introduction of the inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. However, it was said
This form of prosecution gave little power to judges. (Crime and Punishment 2004).
Crimes and punishments were often made to be equal for both commoners and aristocrats. Crimes

suggestion to combat this issue is to reenforce intervention strategies of certain government

the main factors for why people are homeless is due to the mental and physical illness and
substance abuse. Effective intervention strategies must be achieved in order to combat
homelessness and to ensure veterans are receiving aid they deserve. An example of improving

Relationships that are not traditionally accepted result in negative consequences. Father Dowling
blindly goes into making a relationship with two street walkers without even thinking about the
consequences. The society he lives in does not see prostitutes as humans with rights. Father
Dowling felt more love for them than for any one he had known in his parish, a curious, new love
that gave him a strange contentment (18). He feels a new emotion when he meets these two
girls and since he feels a strange contentment, he could potentially be feeling a fleshy love,
instead of a divine love. He keeps fooling himself into thinking that his love is just divine, but he
is hesitating on which type of affection he is giving to the girls. The relationship between a
priest and two prostitutes will not be accepted within their society and leads to many negative
consequences. In addition, the loss of rationality in decision making is an effect of radical shifts
in opinion. Father Dowling convinces himself that the girls need his love the most because no
one loves them for who they are. He decides to continue to help them and has a different opinion

Essay on The Action of Ans-Related Drugs on Smooth Muscle
The action of ANS related drugs on smooth muscle
Introduction
In the following experiment, the key objective is to compare the mechanical changes in tonic force
by longitudinal smooth muscle after the addition of different concentrations of the drugs
noradrenaline and acetylcholine. Peristalsis is the wave of muscle contractions that allow circular
muscles to constrict the gut and longitudinal muscles to shorten it in an attempt to move the food
bolus towards the rectum. A series of dilutions were prepared for both drugs to deduce the effect
this would have on the contractions of the mammalian gut. These were added, in turn, to Ringers
solution containing the gut (a solution resembling blood serum in its salt constituents used for ...

It is distinguishable that when acetylcholine is added, the tonic force in the gut increases as the
concentration increases. This is especially true at higher concentrations of acetylcholine, eg at a
concentration of 1x10 5, the tonic force of the gut was 12.6mN. Conversely, at higher
concentrations of Noradrenaline the tonic force in the gut decreases. The gut does not show any
change in tonic force at lower concentrations, there is minimal or no change which can be
determined from the graph. The tonic force of the gut at the highest concentration of 10 5 was 4mN
which is significantly lower in comparison to what acetylcholine portrayed. So as concentration of
noradrenaline increases, the tonic force in the gut decreases whilst as concentration of acetylcholine
increases, the tonic force of the gut also increases.
Discussion
1) The results obtained demonstrate that increasing concentration of acetylcholine increases tonic
tension in the section of gut, conversely increasing noradrenaline concentration decreases tonic
tension of the gut.
2) Both drugs do not influence the rate of rhythmic contractions yet they alter force and peak. The
rate should remain fairly constant as it signifies the transmission of impulses being sent from the
nervous system, any slowing in rate would suggest deprivation of nerve supply yet this is not the
case as the same gut is used for both drugs and all concentrations.
3) The amplitude

analytical work for a food company. She did gain excellent instrumentation skills in this job

research at her own pace, which she loved because she was highly motivated to learn as much as
possible, as fast as possible. She got involved with areas outside of chemistry, like immunology,
pharmacology, and virology (McGrayne, 2002). Little was known about enzymes or nucleic acids
at the time, so her main focus was on purines. Hitchings would always let Elion know that he was

Eukaryotic Organelles
Introduction:
There are many questions frequently asked in the field of microbiology, one being which
eukaryotic organelle is the most crucial to the function of living organisms. Whilst all organelles
are essential to eukaryotes, undoubtedly the nucleus is the most important. Yet, many argue that the
mitochondrion or endoplasmic reticulum (ER) are equally if not more important to cellular
function. Although both organelles have similarities with the nucleus and work with it to complete
various functions it is evidential that the nucleus is more crucial.
The Nucleus:
The nucleus presence is used to classify cell as a eukaryote rather than prokaryote. The nucleus is
the most prominent organelle within the cell and is a large spherical shape, ... Show more content on

These processes occur when ribosomes and RNA leave the nucleus and attach to the RER and begin
to synthesise proteins. Before moving on any required modifications to newly formed proteins are
made. These proteins can then pass through the translocon and into the lumen where they undergo
quality control (British Society for Cell Biology, 2017a). From there can be transported to different
parts of the RER and eventually to other organelles that require them such as mitochondria (Kaiser,
2007). This creates all the proteins that the cell and living organism need to function. These vary in
type and function from enzymes, used in all chemical reactions within the organism, to somewhat
simpler proteins such as hormones that organisms used to regulate their functions (Wilson, 2015).
The transportation network the ERs create is also vital in ensuring that all other organelles function

The Role Of Sterilization On The Individual
For many centuries, countries have used forced sterilization for various reasons for their cultures.
They have used this method of sterilization to help control their populations, help grow their
economies, and for their beliefs or laws within their countries. As for the United States, we have
depicted our country as the land of the free. Our nation was founded on the premise that all human
beings are created equal, stated Philip Roos, author of Psychological Impact of Sterilizationon the
Individual, and possess inalienable rights (45). However, some people would disagree because of
how our country has changed since it has become a country. People do not have the freedom in
which some believe we should have. In addition, we have advanced beyond most other countries
when it comes to opportunities for our people.
According to the authors of Federally Funded Sterilization: Time to Rethink Policy, Sonya Borrero,
Nikki Zite, and Mitchell D. Creinin:
Female sterilization has been a popular method of contraception since the 1970 s. Despite the
relatively high utilization of sterilization in the United States, there is considerable evidence that
there is an unmet demand for the procedure among some segments of the United States population.
In particular, low income women may face significant system level barriers to obtaining a desired
sterilization procedure. (1822)
Forced sterilization no longer means just sterilization with the element of not being able to have
children

Growing Up In Peter Pan By J. M Barrie
Growing Up
Parents can only give good advice, but the final forming of a person s character lies in their own
hands. Anne Frank. In the book Peter Pan, by J.M Barrie, the character Wendy Darling grows up.
Her time on the island Neverland shows her that she can stay young forever, but three forces shape
her life changing decision. Both her family and realization help her choose what she wanted to do.
Because of age, she grows up, which is another force that changed Wendy and her character. In the
book, Peter Pan, age, family, and realization both changed and impacted the character Wendy
Darling.
One major force that majorly changed Wendy was age. As the story advances, she grows older, as
all children do. At the beginning, she is a young girl and very innocent and pure. It is evident that

Throughout the first part of the book, Wendy is fine with being at Neverlandand away from home.
But slowly, she started to see something in her brothers. What did disturb her at times was that
John remembered his parents vaguely only, while Michael was quite willing to believe that she
was really his mother. (72; ch 7). The story goes on to explain how Wendy was a little scared by
this, but she makes tests to refresh her brother s memory. Later, Wendy is telling a story to her
children about coming home to their mother and everything is is happy and good. But Peter Pan
is in the room listening and he tells his side of the story. Long ago, he said, I thought like you
that my mother would always keep the window open for me; so I stayed away for moons and
moons, and then flew back; but the window was barred, for mother had forgotten all about me,
and there was another little boy sleeping in my bed. (106; ch 11). At that moment Wendy felt that
their mother would forget them if they stayed as long as Peter had. This changed her because she
realized that she needed to go home to her family and grow

Analysis Of Xxxtentacion s Song Everybody Dies In Their...
Music is a form of art that affects everyone in one way or another. Music is a piece of art that
fully reflects the artist s feelings or lifelong experiences. Art affects everyone emotionally and
everyone can relate to music because the lyrics are meaningful in every way just like a story. For
example, XXXTentacion s musicreflects his feelings and his emotional struggles and how he had
problems with suicide and clinical depression. I relate to one of his songs, Everybody Dies in
Their Nightmares .
In this song, he talks about how he is trapped in his mind. The line Tired of feeling like I am
trapped in my damn mind demonstrates this very clearly. By this, he means that he is stuck
feeling the same emotions, is depressed and not able to change. I relate to this line from the song
because I have dealt with a lot of emotional issues related to my childhood. This song is a
reminder of my past issues and helps to remind myself that life is worth living and that all my
efforts were worth it. XXXTentacion has an introduction to his album 17 where he talks about how

Throughout my life my parents have used me as a way to upset the other parent by making them

Processed Food Is Bad For You Summary
Response to Why is Processed Food so Bad for you? Upon reading the ingredient list of my
favorite Ritz crackers, I noticed there were some strange ingredients, such as riboflavin and
mononitrate. These ingredients sound like elements from the periodic table, not ingredients that go
in a simple Ritz cracker. Many consumers don t realize what are the true ingredients that go into
many of their favorite foods. Michael Hobbes is a journalist and an animator that writes for the
Huffington Post. In Hobbes article, Why is Processed Foodso Bad for you? , he concentrates on
how processed food can be unhealthy for many consumers. Though Hobbes explains how
processed food is unhealthy, and also the difficulty of finding organic food; Hobbes overlooks the
key issue of the high cost of healthy food.
First Hobbes explains processed food is unhealthy. Hobbes explains by using one of his
examples, and another example would be how much fast food restaurant there are and how
consumers go out to eat more than once a week. One of the examples Hobbes uses to explain
how preservatives have to go into almost every food that goes into the market is his marinara
sauce. Hobbes describes that if he were to put his marinara sauce out into the market he would

Hobbes does not state that organic food is very costly, and can be hard to find in places where
there is not any gardens or agriculture. Corporations make processed foods cheaper than many of
the freshly grown foods that farmers sell. Kluger states that even though some meats are labeled
that they don t have any nitrates they are still not considered healthy. This is false advertisement
and many consumers believe it is true and buy these more expensive foods. Consumers will buy
anything that is considered a good price and if store bought bread is a better price than making the
bread, consumers will go the cheapest way

Why Did Sodastream Fail In Advertising
Scarlett Johansson s Sodastream ad fails on a number of levels in its bid to become a viral

the exception of the second most poorly received video, Jennifer Anniston s Smartwater), and
they all received millions of extra views and feel more authentic as a result. The message or goal
should never feel forced in any advertisement, and Sodastream certainly failed in that regard. A
second issue with this ad is the belief that it had any of the characteristics to support a viral
campaign. The message fails to provide any social value as the consumer doesn t learn anything
new or exciting about the product or the brand, and the ad fails at giving any chance or reason for

Health care is extremely important, but one form which is overlooked or often not talked about
often is sexual healthcare. Did you know these facts? Over 25 million people have died from

miscarriages. Everyday 12,000 American teens contract an STD. 1 in 5 Americans have genital

If a woman is pregnant and she has an untreated STD such as hepatitis B, herpes, and syphilis, it
could also potentially spread to the fetus, potentially leading to premature birth, stillbirth, and birth
defects. Because Planned Parenthood is so affordable, many people depend on it as a reproductive
health clinic. In fact, about one half of the organization s patient s use doctors at Planned
Parenthood as their primary physicians, because they would be unable to afford anything else.
Planned Parenthood also provides accurate sexual education, and they speak about all forms of birth
control, including abstinence, and the dangers of sexually transmitted diseases. 26 states require
abstinence only education, and some argue that by not providing other information about sexual
health, this increases the chance of unintended pregnancy. In fact, the two states with the highest
rates of teen pregnancy are Mississippi and New Mexico. Mississippi does not require sex education
, but when it is taught, it is restricted to be abstinence only, and New Mexico has no requirements at
all about what should be included in sex education. By providing sexual education that encompasses
all forms of birth control and STD prevention, including abstinence, Planned Parenthood reduces the
risk of unplanned pregnancy and protects the health of women and men alike. Overall, Planned

and females act differently because of sexual attitudes and sexual behaviors. Even though that is the
case, the evolutionary views that are made up are through assumption and not evidence. People are
not locked into the adaptive behaviors from the evolutionary past. Evolutionary vies pays slight

Abortion in the United States
The issue of abortion is notoriously controversial. Since the Supreme Court s 1992 ruling in Casey
v. Planned Parenthood, states have enacted different restrictions on the procedure. These
restrictions vary from state to state. Nineteen states currently have laws prohibiting partial birth
abortion, and forty one states strictly prohibit abortions except in cases of life endangerment. One
particularly incendiary area of abortionlaw is that of public funding. However, as of this year there
are only seventeen states that cover abortion procedures through public funding. In this paper we

Georgia s requirements were as follows: firstly, the abortion had to be approved by a hospital
abortion committee. Secondly, the procedure could not begin until it had been approved by two
other doctors. Finally, abortions were only provided to Georgia citizens. The court ruled these
restrictions unconstitutional, as they not only posed an undue burden, but also violated both the
woman s right to privacy and the physicians right to practice. In 1992, Roe v. Wadewas upheld in
Casey v. Planned Parenthood. However, the Supreme Court had become significantly more
conservative in that time, and this ruling favored the states rights to establish tighter abortion
restrictions. In Pennsylvania, women were only permitted first trimester abortions if they had
been given information about the fetus s gestational state and the dangers of having the
procedure. A married women was also required to inform her husband prior to having the
abortion, and minors had to seek approval from at least one parent unless given a legal bypass.
On top of these restrictions, there was also a mandatory 24 hour waiting period (McBride, Casey v.
Planned Parenthood ). Though it was ruled that states must still make abortions available in the first
trimester, it was decided in a five to four vote that the states retained the right to place restrictions as
long as there were intended to protect the health

Lee Harvey Oswald had felt an indifference towards the economic and governmental ideals of the

Fahrenheit 451 could not of had a better plot. Not only was the novel thrilling the entire time but

story is Guy Montag starts out as a average fireman who loves doing his job, which is burning
books. He s married and lives a normal lifestyle in an unspecified city in a society where reading
is illegal, and being intellectual is frowned upon. That would be the exposition of the story. On
his way home from work one day, he meets a curious lady named Clarisse, who tells that she
loves reading and nature. Clarisse gave Montag a desire to change society s way of thinking for
the better, and eventually the curiosity spreads to Montag and he begins to steal books. This
would be the rising action. At this moment he questions the ethics of the society he lives in. That
would be the main conflict. His wife and boss eventually find out what he s doing, so firemen
stop in front of the salamanders own house, raid his home, finding and burning down all the
books. Montag kills Beatty with a flamethrower. This would be the climax. Knowing something
like this would happen, Montag flees for his life. Montag follows the directions given to him by
Faber and finds a band of men devoted to the same cause preserving the truth of book. In the end,
Montag is rescued by a community of people, each of whom introduces himself as the title of a

Flu that sister Ethel had to temporarily take up residence with them in Mid June of 1919 to see
them through. As William gained experience he moved down the line to Washago as a RR
foreman. The son now lived in the first place his father worked in Ontarioback in 1881.
Tragedy befell the childless couple when they went on a 19th June 1927 trip, Margaret fell from

##s And Weaknesses And Strengths Of Rudy Giuliani
Like all famous leaders, Rudy Giuliani had his fair share of strengths and weaknesses. Giuliani
showed the country and the world what true leadership was in the wake of 9/11. During a time of
crisis, he demonstrated courageousness, dedication and composure. Even though Giuliani is mostly
remembered for his strengths, his weaknesses are usually overlooked. He was criticized for being
unfaithful and allowing lust to break up his marriage. Another weakness of Giuliani was his
inconsistency to reprimand his policeforce. Giuliani was a man of positivity. No matter the
situation, Giuliani always looked at the positive side of things and didn t allow his emotions to get
the best of him. This strength of his leadership style stemmed from the core values his father
taught him. In an interview with Barbara Walters, Giuliani talked about what his father taught him.
Giuliani explained that his father had taught him how to act during a crisis: When there is a crisis
going on, the most important thing is to be calmer. If everybody s getting very upset and very
emotional, the best way to figure out your way through it is to actually become calmer and relax
more. He understood that when in a time of uncertainty, being calm was the key. Another key
strength of Giuliani was how he was a natural born leader. NYPD Commissioner William Bratton
commented on Giuliani s natural born leadership. I ve seen the mayor in many instances during the
time I worked with him as police commissioner

Binge Drinking in Colleges and Universities
A recent event that showcases that binge drinking is still a problem for many college students at
the University of Iowa is the story of one Iowa student during the 2013 football season.
Samantha Goudie, who is a twenty two year old University of Iowa student, was once known as
Vodka Samm not only around the Iowa City area but nationally. One day in a highly intoxicated
state, she tried to jump onto the field during a regular home football game and after quickly being
arrested was known around the nation as The World s Drunkest College Student. She was cited for
having a blood alcohol level of .341 percent, which is more than four times the legal driving limit.
This event just continued to help solidify the Universityof Iowa s out of control party school
reputation. However, it did bring light to the serious problem of the students binge drinkingand its
effects especially during home football games. In 2009, to try to reduce the amount of underage
and binge drinking, Iowa City passed an ordinance that banned people under the age of twenty one
from being in the bars pass 10:00 PM. Since this ordinance was enacted there has been a drop in the
number of citations for public intoxication, possession of alcohol for minors, and driving under the
influence. (Hennigan) The ordinance has brought good change to the city, but many people argue
that instead of actually changing the amount people drink it has only shifted where and how people
drink alcohol. Since the ordinance

The unreachable stars, the Moon, the comets and all the events happening in the sky, fired up imaginations and became symbols of life and death, of war, peace and the passing of time and the seasons. The movement of the stars was used to establish the time for planting and harvesting, to prepare for the long winters and to try to discover the future and destiny, the eternal unknown destiny of the human race. Three large human groups, the Mayans, the Aztecs and the Zapotecs populated the Central and Southeastern regions of Mexico long before the discovery of the continent by Columbus. Developing an extended astronomical knowledge was not very easy because their astronomers did all their observations with the naked eye. However, they were able to do all kinds of incredibly precise astronomical measurements and calculate the seasons, the solstices and eclipses. They did all this by following the patterns of the movements of planets and stars, observing the shadows cast by the Sun, and using some rudimentary instruments. The practice of astronomy was relegated to the ilhuica tlamatilizmatini, or wise man who studies heaven . These priest astronomers had a great amount of power, given the fact that they could essentially predict the future. (Welser Sherrill) II Planets, Stars, the Moon and the Sun. Venus. The Mayans gave great importance to the planet Venus; they recorded its transit across the sky and used this information to create the Dresden Codex which contains the data for the full circle of this planet. The Mayans counted five repetitions of the cycle of Venus, each one with a length of 584 days, which correspond to approximately 8 years. In the Mayan mythology, Venus is the companion of the sun. But for Frederick Douglass, freedom was merely step one. Douglass began his life on a plantation owed from the moment he arrived. He was not destined to stay put there. Born in (what he can come close to) 1818, he began life out as a man in chains but ended up a respected wordsmith, but still apologetic for his short comings. Douglass learned how to read, write, and give speeches; he influenced a nation for changes among writers today; and he had different approaches to the era he lived in, but knew he wanted change to exist among all. These things were needed to occur in order for the slavery and African American society to be recognized as equals among all. His wit was not small nor was his leadership not seen as defiance. Each step of his journey, brought him to a different place where he faced a challenge that could not have been met any other way, but with strength and education where he was successful in obtaining. Douglass was not only a speaker, but was an author of his time. Many colleagues wrote of him and his life even after he passed away. Often crime was defined by ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s conception of sin were handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to define crime became a duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to define crimes, even crimes of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until the introduction of the inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. It is distinguishable that when acetylcholine is added, the tonic force in the gut increases as the concentration increases. This is especially true at higher concentrations of acetylcholine, eg at a concentration of 1x10 5, the tonic force of the gut was 12.6mN. Conversely, at higher concentrations of Noradrenaline the tonic force in the gut decreases. The gut does not show any change in tonic force at lower concentrations, there is minimal or no change which can be determined from the graph. The tonic force of the gut at the highest concentration of 10 5 was 4mN which is significantly lower in comparison to what acetylcholine portrayed. So as concentration of noradrenaline increases, the tonic force in the gut decreases whilst as concentration of acetylcholine increases, the tonic force of the gut also increases. Discussion 1) The results obtained demonstrate that increasing concentration of acetylcholine increases tonic tension in the section of gut, conversely increasing noradrenaline concentration decreases tonic tension of the gut. 2) Both drugs do not influence the rate of rhythmic contractions yet they alter force and peak. Upon reading the ingredient list of my favorite Ritz crackers, I noticed there were some strange ingredients, such as riboflavin and mononitrate. These ingredients sound like elements from the periodic table, not ingredients that go in a simple Ritz cracker. Many consumers don t realize what are the true ingredients that go into many of their favorite foods. Michael Hobbes is a journalist and an animator that writes for the Huffington Post. In Hobbes article, Why is Processed Foodso Bad for you? , he concentrates on how processed food can be unhealthy for many consumers. Secondly, the procedure could not begin until it had been approved by two other doctors. Finally, abortions were only provided to Georgia citizens.
