A Guided Epiphany By Mary Joyce
A Guided Epiphany
In Eveline the main character, Eveline, lives a terrible life with a stern father, a miserable job,
and a dreary home. When she is given the opportunity to leave her awful life and start a new life
with her partner Frank, she rejects the offer and stays in Ireland. Immediately this presents the
reader with an apparent paradox. Why did Eveline stay? Wasn t her life terrible? It is not until the
reader digs a little deeper into Eveline does the paradox solve itself. Joyce uses various literary
techniques to justify why Eveline did not leave with Frank.
In order to solve the paradox of Eveline, Joyce uses sentence structure to show the importance of
various characters to Eveline. The father in Eveline is given a lengthy amount of the story and
longer sentences. Sentences such as He said she used to squander the money, ... he was usually
fairly bad on Saturday night. (Joyce 65 68), and When they were growing up he had never gone
for her ... for her dead mother s sake. (55 58) contain forty words and forty eight words
respectfully. Frank at the beginning is given slightly longer sentences at his first introduction. The
third sentence in Frank s introduction, She was to go away with him by the night boat to be his
wife and to live with him in Buenos Ayres where he had a home waiting for her. (80 82), is thirty
words long. As the story progresses Frank s sentences becoming increasingly shorter and shorter.
After Eveline remembers her father caring for

Discrimination And Oppression Of Gays In The World Today
Gays are going to rot in hell! Gays need to all die. In the past, these were all common teaching
taught by the religious leaders of Christianity, Judaism and Islam. The people learned that
homosexuality was a violation of God s will and relentlessly killed all the sinners. Gays, repeatedly
persecuted in the past, and are still not accepted in religious communities today. They still face
discrimination and have trouble fitting in and receiving equal treatment their religious and
neighborly communities. Gays have and still experience theologically based discrimination and
oppression.

Yet, even in a safe countries such as the United States, the persecution of gays continue
(Whitaker). On June 6, 2016, in Orlando Florida, Omar Mateen entered a gay club and started
firing an assault rifle and a pistol. In the name of ISIS, a radical Islamic military group, he killed 49
people and injured over 50 (Ellis). This incident was not only a hate crime against gays but also a
projection of the radical beliefs of Islam against homosexuals.
Today, unlike the persecution of gay Muslims by the Islamic religion, the persecution of gay Jews
within the Jewish community is not as acceptable. Much of the Jewish culture has shifted from
harshly condemning gays to accepting them, and the majority Jewish groups either welcome gays
but reject homosexual behavior, or completely disregarded the ancient Jewish ideals and accept
homosexuality. Specifically, the Orthodox Jews are famous for their support of homosexuality and
their rejection of Judaism s teachings

Why Do People Use Social Networks Detrimental To...
Social networks have been increasingly used by people all over the world. Surging since the
creation of Facebook which now has over one billion active users. These social networks are
services that allow individuals to create an online profile and create their own group of friends
with whom to share a connection. They also allow users to share ideas, pictures/videos, posts,
events, activities and their interests with people in their chosen network. There are many
different social networks providing the same basic service to anyone who wishes to use them,
but also bringing the same problems and risks. Social networks were made for communication,
overcoming barriers like distance; however, it could also be that it is detrimental to
communication and reduces basic communication skills. Trends indicate that 47 percent of
American adults use a social network. A national survey in 2009 found that 73 percent of online
teenagers use social network sites, which is an increase from 55 percent three years earlier. It s
no wonder our real world social lives are seeing some changes. We once used to communicate
with a single person by telephone or letter; writing has now become a very social way of
communicating although it was once a solitary activity. Now, with one post we can reach
thousands of people. Personal barriers are quickly broken down through the use of social media.
There are things people would never tell anyone over the phone or in person, but through Facebook

Groupthink Differences
The term groupthink was coined in 1952 by William Whyte a business author and editor in Fortune
magazine (West Turner, 2014). However, it was not until 1972 that Irving Janis combined the
concept with foreign policy decision making and a communication context (Janis, 1972; in West
Turner, 2014). The main tenet of groupthinkis that the need for everyone to agree causes the group
to suppress conflicting opinions by means to get along and make decisions. It is a way of
deliberation that minimizes conflict and emphasizes the need for unanimity (West Turner, 2014, p.
252). However, this may result in neglecting better and more effective decisions that deviate from
the conformity. My experience since transferring to The College of... Show more content on

9, in What is Groupthink, n.d.). while the concept and theory of Group think was developed by
Janis in relation to foreign policy decision making and in the context of communication, it can be
expanded to, although it does not apply directly, other situations such as my experience with
Student Film Union. Not all the antecedents applied to my experience and the decision made
about what kind of short film we are to make as club will most likely not be unethical due to my
lack of input. However, Groupthink also appears frequently in the business world (Sims, 1992). A
desire for cohesion and quick decision making, neglects the effective and unheard ideas which are
silenced in result. To avoid Groupthink, the ideas of all group members must be considered,
leaders should be impartial, the isolation of the group should be avoided, and decisions should not

We Can Not Control The Passage Of Time
Our divided selves and our Self s: how we betray ourselves through our design
O plunge your hands in water,
Plunge them in up to the wrist;
Stare, stare in the basin
And wonder what you ve missed.
As I Walked Out One Evening,
W. H. Auden
We cannot control the passage of time: like water, it slips through our fingers and reminds us that
we are ephemeral. If we are born into this world without our will and we leave it without our will
then, alone, each of us is vulnerable and separate. Vulnerable to the external forces which influence
our sense of identity and then separate from one another due to our biological parameters. As life
experience accumulates these newly deposited substances sediment and float to the surface to
convalesce into ideas, opinions and emotions and, as Edward de Bono puts it, is where the brain
becomes mind.
Even if we cannot halt the passage of time or stop the water from flowing, our actions in the present
have the power to direct the stream so that once we learn to swim we are able to choose what we
do with our lives. If our time is biologically limited and if we need each other, in order to be
personally fulfilled, it stands to reason that we should strive for a good life for everyone, so how
can we do more good? If there is a mechanism which absolves us from our responsibility to be
good, what is it? The simple answer could be that we are human.
But what is humanity and how does our self awareness dictate our capacity to be good? A

Examples Of Fear In East Of Eden
In the novel East of Eden many examples show just how powerful fear can be if used for selfish
gain or as a defence mechanism. Fear being one of the biggest overtones (if not the biggest)
allows us to see how huge an influence fear can be in a person s life, as with Cathy the main
antagonist who lives to hold the fearof her blackmailing someone and men s sexual desires over
their heads to attain whatever her twisted desires are. Cathy the embodiment of evil in the novel,
who lives by fear is found consistently using it to her advantage to apprehend whatever her black
corrupted heart desires from the unsuspecting people around her. Often times she would blackmail
men and uses sex as her weapon of destruction, her blackmailing these men often led to them
committing suicidedue to the impending stress that she implements in their lives, in the beginning
of the novel Cathy preys on her lust driven teacher and eventually drives him to suicide and lures

Nazi Propaganda In Nazi Germany
Nazi Propaganda
Propaganda tries to force a doctrine on the whole people... Propaganda works on the general
public from the standpoint of an idea and makes them ripe for the victory of this idea, (United
States Holocaust Memorial Museum 1) written by Adolf Hitler in his book Mein Kampf published
in 1925. Propaganda is defined as the spreading of ideas, information or rumors for the purpose of
helping or hurting an institution (Propaganda in Nazi Germany 1). After the Nazi seizure of power
in 1933, they used this method of persuasion to spread the ideas of National Socialism, racism,
anti Semitism, and to explain who was excluded from Hitler s perfect community. Hitler saw

Hitler believed the Aryan people and those of true German decent were predestined to rule the
world. All other races were seen as a threat to the end product of his master plan(The Holocaust
Explained). This led to deportation, being forced to live in ghettos, and eventually the killing of
races seen as degenerates to the Nazi party. Propaganda was used to create stereotypes and bad
images of Jews and other unworthy races, while creating a fear, distrust and eventually a hatred of
these supposed enemies. Anti Semitic and other racist propaganda was used to justify the status of
pariah being given to Jews and others deemed as undesirables (The Chief). This form of
manipulation also helped to portray Germany as the defender of the west after the German invasion
of the Soviet Union. The propaganda painted a catastrophic image of what would have happened if
the Soviets would have won, hoping with this, German citizens would better support the Nazis in
the war efforts (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

Something that is too dark which we cannot let others know. From time to time, we keep carrying

of giving and receiving kindness. It actually improves the soul of our heart, but also its physical

B.Main point II: Kindness reflects leadership quality because it teaches leader how to lead and take
initiatives.
Orly Wahba, CEO of Life Vest Inside, once said that a small act of kindness shows that we have a
power to make a change like a leader (TED Talk, 2014). It also demonstrates that we push ourselves
out of our comfort zone and take actions to help others (TED Talk, 2014).
She emphasizes that our kind actions, big or small, prove that we want to take charge and make
the world become a better place (TED Talk, 2014). And that, in her opinion (also mine), kindness
is such a simple, valuable quality which demonstrates a powerful role, a leader (TED Talk, 2014).
Transition: I want to you take these two points and understand them through my story and my
perception.
Need + Satisfaction + Visualization: Imagine this, you, in my body, wake up and ready to start

Christian Leadership Bible
Leadership, as it relates to the Bible, is a guide or a way of living. Leadership is not only an
outward manifestation of task, objectives, and strategies that are seen in the secular arena, but
leadership is from within. Christensen (2015) points out
Christian leadership is not a combination of two individual tasks; it is a full embrace of the
Christian world view and way of living and the leading from that understanding is (christian
leadership)...The primary call of the Christian is to follow God and be formed in the image of his

In other words, a Christian and/or leadership does not live outside of itself And whatsoever ye

theories because alternatives will affect individuals and organizations. Because the sacred text

Comparison Of Oliver Cromwell And The New Model Army
Oliver Cromwell and the New Model Army utilized advanced and brutal tactics alike to have great
success in battle as well as intimidating their enemies. Cromwell and the New Model Army had
many different technologies at their disposable throughout the campaign in Ireland. They had
infantry, cavalry, and artillery. The New Model Army was well versed in the use of each unit they
had; depending on the battlethey faced they would only bring what was needed. At Drogheda they

Religious Experiences are in the Mind of the Believer Essays
Religious Experiences are in the Mind of the Believer
A religious experience is a spontaneous or induced mental event over which the
recipient has relatively little control. It is often accompanied with the gaining of
certain knowledge and the experience is always unique. [1] Elton Trueblood s
definition of a religious experience is very broad, including any experience of feelings
of love, power, glory or strength from God. This differs from a simple experience
which can be defined as an event or series of events participated in or lived through,
especially one that makes a powerful impression on the mind and sense. [2]
It is obvious that religious experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When people try to describe an experience
of God they tend to make comparisons which raises problems philosophically, and
many argue that the analogies have weaknesses.
The definitions of mystical experience used by researchers and clinicians vary
considerably, ranging from Neumann s (1964) upheaval of the total personality to
Greesley s (1974) spiritual force that seems to lift you out of yourself to
Scharfstein s (1973) everyday mysticism. William James created four
characteristics which he believed will enable people to identify mystical experiences,
a term that is used in a vast variety of contexts. These include ineffability, noetic
quality, transciency and passivity. From James four characteristics, mystical
experiences are concerned with noetic quality and transciency. Noetic quality refers
to knowledge that is gained through intuition and perception however not in the
conventional manner, whilst transciency refers to the duration of the experience; it
appears that most religious experiences last between a few minutes and two hours.
However the effect and the significance are out of proportion to its physical duration.

Modern forms of literature have helped a considerable amount in reducing rates of racism targeted
at indigenous people of Australia, Kevin Naderian explains this phenomenon.
Non indigenous people often consider land as a materialistic possession something they own, a
commodity to be bought, sold, and trade, an asset that they intend to make profit off of.
Indigenous people, however, have a much deeper connection with the land. Rather than owning it,
it owns them not literally, of course. They live for the land, and are connected to it. According to a

The rest of the movie is a story of how the proprietor, Darryl Kerrigan, stood up for his rights and

It s commonly agreed upon that the plot of the movie represents the Aboriginal Land Rights
Movement, more specifically, the Mabo Land Rights Case of 1982 Eddie Mabo was also mentioned
in the movie, backing up these beliefs. Oh, the Aboriginal guy. Told the government to shove it.

court throughout the movie did a very good job at appealing to the anti authoritarian values that
most Australian s hold, further helping towards the popularity of the movie.

Factors Influencing Organisational Structure Essay
Introduction
The influence of factors on organizational structure and their impact on the organization has been in
focus by researchers since many years. This paper reviews the literature and analyses the factors
that influence the structure and design of organizations. Organizational structures are mainly
grouped as functional and divisional structures on the basis of functions or jobs. The most
important and powerful tool for enhancing performance in an organization is the organizational
design although there is no perfect or unique design. Organizational change occurs when a company
makes a shift from its present state to a desired state, which is necessary in today s competitive
environment.

The factors that contribute to development of an organization include its size, technology human
resources, production program and environmental requirements. The role of political environment
is also stressed. For effective and also efficient utilization of resources, designing an ideal

are decentralization of decision making, customer interaction, value of innovation and marketing
considerations. They can be grouped into two factors: internal that was from environment under the
firm s control and external, that were not under the control of the firm. Today, companies require
undergoing changes almost constantly to remain competitive. Globalization of markets and rapidly
growing technology force organizations to respond in order to survive. The ultimate competitive

1.read and understand a simple passage on everyday life;
2.engage in a simple conversations;
3.listen and understand simple messages.
In this useful investigation into language aims, Gattullo and Pallotti (2000) show that students will
have developed reading, listening and speaking skills for simple topics when they leave primary
school. These objectives seem to be reasonable and in line with the ability of six to ten year old
pupils.

The Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) developed by the European Council

employed to set up level for school leavers: primary students achieving level A1, lower
secondary school pupils achieve A2 and high school leavers achieving level B1 (in vocational

teaching and assessment because learning outcomes statements (known as can do statements)
are indicated clearly and fully for all skills: it describes in a comprehensive way what language
learners have to learn to do in order to use a language for communication and what knowledge and

Impact Of The Dodge Plan
POST WAR JAPAN S ECONOMIC MIRACLE The Dodge Plan of 1948 In the year 1947, Cold
War unrest had started building up in Eastern Asia that prompted the United States of America
to revise its policies towards Japan in order to accelerate its economic recovery. The Dodge Plan
conceived by Joseph Dodge in 1948 was implemented as a solution to bring Japan back to its
complete strength and economic recovery. The Dodge Plan focused on resolving the serious
problem of inflation and establishing a more stable Japan through three policies. First being a
balanced budget, followed by suspension of new loans from the Reconstruction Finance Bank
(this source of supply of money was identified as the root cause of inflation), and lastly, reducing

in accelerating the Japanese economy. Dodge s policies caused problems along the way in its

Comparing Alvord s The Scalpel And The Silver Bear
After reading Alvord and Cohen s The Scalpel and the Silver Bear, I found myself looking at the
world in a new spiritual way. Alvord is known to many as the first Navajo woman surgeon.
Having grown up as a Navajo with a white mother, her life was a constant mix of her Navajo
ways and the ways of the Western world. One of the main philosophies of her Navajo culture of
healing that she focuses on is walking in beauty . The Navajo do not view the body as a single
being but as a connection to the rest of the world. With the belief that everything is connected, the
Navajo believe that negativity in any aspect of one s life will bring something bad to the person
later. A harmonious life, one in which their mind, body and spirit is positively connected to those
around them, leads to a healthy one. When Alvord decided to go against her Navajo ways and enter
the world of Western medicineshe did so with the goal to bring the healing philosophies of her
people with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alvord uses her personal experiences of working as a Navajo surgeon to teach her readers the
philosophies her people follow to heal. Her philosophy is that instead of looking at each patient
as a mechanical system with each part separate, look at their mind, body and spirit as being
connected. If one can do this, patient care will improve. She also touches upon being culturally
competent in the work place by knowing your patient population s beliefs on healing and health
care. After reading her story, I believe that in order to be the best health care providerone must look
into the spiritual aspects of their patients lives. As providers we must provide care using the
biopsychosocial model of care and become knowledgeable on our patients beliefs. Like Alvord
states within her story, we must walk in beauty, become harmoniously connected to those around

But there are a number of good poets also, like Dom Moraes, Nissim Ezekiel, P. Lal, Kamala

phenomenon, it is interesting that since 1947 a great deal of poetry has been written by Indians
in English; that in both quality and quantity, this poetry compares very well with the English

What Extent Was Roosevelt Isolationist In The 1930s
During the time period 1930s, Isolationist atmosphere could be seen all over America due to fear
and past experience of war; the public and congress are no longer willing to get involved in war.
However in this essay I would be discussing how the President of US, President Roosevelt had

Isolationist, How he could be considered as a Pragmatist, and How he could be considered as a
Gradualist? in order to have a better understanding of what PresidentRoosevelt is aiming for in his

he is both Gradualist and Pragmatist; however he Is to a greater extent a Gradualist than a

Technology, Medicine, And Player Safety
As I begin the research for this paper, I want to know what has occurred in the sports world that
has caused some of my favorite elite players to get hurt and never be able to play the game with the

Giants have had to deal with some terrible injuries, but why? Aren t sports supposed to get safer as
time moves on because as time progresses so should advancements in technology, medicine, and

started to train differently. They train more like professionals, and are really pushing themselves
to outwork others. I also know that some of the most devastating injuries are knee injuries. Players
such as Derrick Rose who are known for their speed and explosiveness lose confidence in their
knees once the injuryhappens there is no turning back. I also think that players are playing the
sports with a different mindset. They are more aggressive and have different capabilities
compared to the old school athletes. After doing all my research I hope to learn what athletes may
be doing wrong at the get go that makes them more susceptible to injuries. I hope to see why there
is an increase in major injuries and what may change must happen to stop this epidemic. Hundreds

Blood Splatter Inaccurate Evidence
Crime investigation is a tricky thing. Often times there s piles upon piles of evidence, but
sometimes there s nothing but a crimson smear on the back of a couch. The process can take
years too, due to insufficient evidence. But what if there was a way to make it easier? With a drop
of blood scientists can paint whole pictures. If bloodcan do so much with so little, it s crazy to say it
s not valuable evidence in a crime scene.
Blood splatter can verify the position of the people involved in the crime, as well as give clues on
how people were injured or died. Mainly, blood splatter eliminates many possibilities. It can show
injuries the victim had, what happened as they were dying, and the angle the crime happened at
(McShane) To further add on, blood splatter produces spines when dropped. Scientists determined
that counting the spines determine what height and speed the blood fell down at (Powell). This can

Generation of electricity:
Nuclear Energy
A report for Zebra Tech
Abstract
This report reviews energy sources of the world traditionally used to generate electricity, namely
renewable and non renewable sources, giving a brief overview of each of the 6 methods and how
they generate electricity, and evaluates the suitability of each by weighing up their advantages and
disadvantages. It introduces nuclear energy and gives a detailed description of the setup and process
whereby electricity is produced from nuclear energy. By weighing up a broad spectrum of
advantages and disadvantages of using nuclear energy, specifically various costs, risks and
efficiency, in comparison to traditional generation methods, the report determines that nuclear
energy is indeed suitable to use throughout the world.

A popular renewable energy source is wind energy, used globally. Kinetic energy in the form of

Respect Essay
Respect Many people have different ideas about what respect means. I think it means having
respect for others, property, and respect for yourself. Most people want respect even if it is just a
little. The American Heritage Dictionary states that respect is 1.A feeling of appreciative, often
deferential regard, esteem. 2.The state of being regarded with honor or esteem. 3.Willingness to
show consideration or appreciation. People demand different amounts of respect, though not
everyone is willing to give the amount needed. Maybe this is because not every one knows what
respect means. The first rule is respect for others. A few of those others are teachers, police,
authority figures, and business people. Respect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This respect should be shown on every ones property including friend s, teachers, and even
strangers. The last rule is respecting yourself. Respecting yourself can mean holding your head
up high and respecting your own ideas. You can share your ideas even if you might not thing
they are right. But it can lead to more important things like peer pressure, and not giving into it.
It is about not letting it affect you in any way or sort. You can not have respect for others if you
can not respect yourself. There are many little things you can do to show respect. For example
you can clean your room and set the dishes. You can raise your hand when some one else is
talking when you have an opinion. Don t be afraid to share your opinions and ideas. They can be
a good example for someone. Be a person that another person would want to look up to. You can
not be this person when you have a lack of respect. You may not notice it, but respect plays a role
in our daily lives. Respect follows you wherever you go. Whether it is in school, your home, or
in a restaurant. You may not notice it that other people give you respect, but you do notice when
they don t. Even for the simplest reasons. If you are not respectful than you will not be respected.
You can t DEMAND respect, nor make people give respect out of fear. The scare will not work.
You have to get respect by earning it. Remaining calm in bad situations and being

Persuasive Essay On Bilingual Education
In 1967, a senator in Texas named Ralph Yarborough introduced the Bilingual Education Act.
Through this act, the federal government was to provide funds to schools to have bilingual
educational programs. The act primarily focused on Spanish speaking children, but later was
amended to benefit other children as well (Glavin). Several states in the United States opposed
bilingual educationand in 2002, Initiative 31 was on the Colorado ballot. Initiative or Amendment
31, required schools to be taught only in English (figure 1). Parents were given the option to
request bilingual education, but it would be extremely difficult for it to be accepted, due to schools
having the right to deny their request. Instead, non English speakers would be placed in an English
immersion program. In this program, students would be given a year to learn English and later
move to a normal classroom ( Amendment 31 ). On November 5, 2002, the initiative was rejected
by 55 percent (Benz 1). Considering the rejection of the initiative, Colorado began adapting
programs to assist English language learners (ELLs). Nonetheless, dual language education remains
highly controversial. While bilingual education has many positive outcomes, we cannot ignore the
fact that it is not 100 percent effective. Not every child learns the same; therefore, bilingual
education does not provide equal opportunities for everyone. Instead of completely throwing
bilingual education out the window, we should turn to alternatives

How Does Juicing Work?
Juice cleanses are becoming more and more popular. Some people use them for detox. Others
replace one or more meals with fresh juices to shed fat or maintain their weight. A typical juice
cleanse involves drinking at least 16 ounces of juice every few hours, plus a lot of water, for three

The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process
Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to
this video for more information.
The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of
material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the
form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is
shared generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been
transferred and they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut
Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts . There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of
wood is used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my
opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video
showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, Hydra , I thought the design in the
ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece. But this may only be for the
reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn t the only artist
who uses this printmaking process. Another artist who uses Relief Printmaking is Katsushika
Hokusai. Hokusai used the same process to create his color woodcut piece called South Wind,
Clear Sky , a portrayal of Mount Fuji. Describe the Intaglio Printmaking process. List an artist who

Four Theories Of Aging Essay
Age is more than the number of years a person has lived. It is measured according to an individual
s physiological health, their psychological well bing, as well as sociologically and culturally.
Theories of Aging:
Disengagement: Gradual and mutual withdrawal of the elderly and society from each other is a
natural process. The elderly disengage so that new people can be phased in to replace them.
Activity: People continue at the level of activity that they had during their middle years. High
levels of activity do not necessary mean they will live longer but that they will have a high life
satisfaction.
Conflict: The elderly compete with younger generations for jobs and resources.
Age Stratification: The elderly both affect and are affected by social change.
Modernization: In premodern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Developing social bonds can keep them from feeling isolated and abandoned.
Interpersonal: Negative assumptions based on physical appearance of the individual.
The sandwich generation refers to adults who not only are caring for children but also find
themselves caring for their parents. There are two levels of care for the elderly, physical needs and
instrumental needs. Physical needs consist of such things as feeding, bathing, and toileting.
Instrumental needs may consist of grocery shopping, managing bank records, paying bills, etc.
Many issues are a concern for the elderly. Some of these include housing and health. Many senior
citizens own their home, but the upkeep and repairs may eventually be a problem as they continue
to get older. Good health care is vital. Alzheimers and dementia are major concerns for senior
citizens. The better their health, the more satisfied they are with their life. Elderly people can be
successful in the aging process.
Successful aging includes the following:

Ethical Dilemma Of Mandatory Vaccinations
Introduction
The classic essay Tragedy of the Commons describes the dilemma society faces when the interests
of a group conflicts with the interests of individuals (Hardin, 1968). The example presented is that
of a group of cattle ranchers commingling their cattle in a common pasture. At full capacity, each
cattle owner still has an incentive to include additional cattle, since the slight decrease in overall
yield per animal is offset by the additional animal. Unfortunately, this overgrazing inevitably leads
to failure of the commons. The community goal of maximizing food production can only be
achieved by placing controls on the interests of the individual cattle ranchers in favor of those of
the community (Hardin, 1968). This paper is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is called an immune response. Vaccinationis an attempt to manipulate the immune system to
provide protection from disease caused by a pathogen without subjecting the person to the actual
disease. The cowpox virus was sufficiently similar to the smallpox virus that if an individual were
exposed to cowpox, the person would develop antibodies that would subsequently attack and
disable the smallpox virus. This basic principle discovered by Jenner over two hundred and fifty
years ago is used today to develop the dozens of vaccines we take for granted.
What Is Herd Immunity?
The term herd immunity first appeared in a paper published in 1923, entitled The Spread Of
Bacterial Infection The Problem Of Herd Immunity (Topley Wilson, 1923). Herd immunity refers to
the protection of populations from infection, which is brought about by the presence of immune
individuals (Anderson May, 1985). Herd immunity occurs when the proportion of people in a
population that has immunity to a pathogen is so high, the pathogen cannot find enough
susceptible hosts to infect and consequently can no longer survive (Coico Sunshine, 2015).
For example, if only 50% of a population has immunity to pathogen X, the chances of an infected
person coming in contact with a susceptible person to pass along pathogen X, is one in two. On the
other hand, if 90% of

Withdrawal Design Withdrawal designs are often used in determining if the treatment is directly
effecting the change in a behavior. In order to show a direct correlation between the treatment and
the altered behavior, withdrawal designs remove the treatment during one or more phases of the
experiment (Richards, Taylor, Ramasamy, 2014). Withdrawal designs allow the researcher to
directly show cause and effect between the behavior and the intervention treatment (Richards,
Taylor, Ramasamy, 2014). In order to present the experiment effects on a behavior the investigator
must first determine that the intervention is in fact the cause for the changed behavior, by showing

According to Byiers, Reichle, Symons (2012) in multiple baseline designs the evidence is
answering research questions regarding the effects of an independent variable across three or
more variables such as individuals, behaviors, stimuli, or settings. In other words, this design
provides evidence of the effects of the same independent variable across three variables. When a
multiple base line design is introduced all participants start in Baseline or the (A) phase. The
second step is to introduce the variable to the intervention in a scientific staggered method in order
to show experimental control which is considered the (B) phase ( Byiers, Reichle, Symons, 2012).
Once the intervention phases is stabilize the next step in the sequence is introduce. For each
variable the data is individually documented so that visual analysis can show the varying
conditions throughout the process. The visual analysis of graph often appears as a series of AB

the entire process data is collected and conditions change in the sequence until all steps in the AB

Femmer s Murder Is Wrong
The Natural Law Theory suggested that Elmer s murder is wrong because it violates moral
principles. While I do agree with this, Gray makes a strong argument in the sense that the court is
expected to follow the law created by the people in authority. Before Francis s death, there was no
mistakes in the will and the language of the statute governing wills was clearly written, making it a
valid one. In other words, the court is required to uphold the validity of the will. In placing morality
above the demands of the law, the majority judges meets the burden of overruling the written law.
Therefore, positivists would agree that the rules governing wills must be applied as written and that

Violence in The Arts В– Plato vs. Aristotle
Nowadays, it is hard to turn on a television program, catch a movie or buy your younger sibling a
video game without encountering a warning for extreme violence. Everyday, our lives are
exposed to violence on the screen, whether it is in the latest Sopranos episode or even watching
the six o clock news. For quite a while now, people have been demanding that stricter censorship
be placed on the media, especially those programs and video games that can easily be obtained by
the youth, due to their feelings that this violence can influence people to act out . However, this is
not a new idea. Back in ancient Greece, the philosopher Plato believed that exposure to the
emotions of the arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato perceived the dramas as dangerous, because he felt that they created confusion,
miscommunication and ignorance. He also felt that the entire world s evils came from a defective
sense of reality and that these dramas promoted that. For example, take a young child who grew up
somewhat isolated from the outside world and whose only outlet to our society is through the
media. His steady contact with violent programs (which in the end, show a happy conclusion no
matter what happens throughout) may convince him that this type of behavior is normal and
accepted. Plato was concerned especially about the influence that drama and even pornography
would have on children, because he felt that their minds were not developed to the full extent in
order to differentiate between the right and wrong that they see in the dramas. Many people will
be quick to agree that a child should not watch a rated R action movie, yet they still allow them to
view a Saturday morning cartoon in which the main character gets run over every episode and still
comes back the next week. This can create a faulty understanding of reality to a child, as well as an
unsuspecting adult, because it does not clarify that death is final.
What about the movies that emulate and perhaps glorify the lives of drug dealers and gangs? Are
they encouraging one to participate in

Overview of Criminal Profiling Essay
Being a criminal profiler is not like it is on all the television shows, but it is still an interesting
and important job. Criminal profilers have been used to close many police and federal cases.
They work in several homicide cases involving rape, racial killings, brutal killings, and involving
serial killers. They help make it easier for the police to find the right person by examining the crime
scene. Being a criminal profiler is a tough job but with hard work and dedication it is a great
career choice. A criminal profiler gives a description of what they think the suspect looks like and
acts like. They do this by examining the scenes of where the victims were murdered and looking
for clues on why the suspect did it, how they did it,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A criminal profiler can work for the state, federal, or local law. Many work for the FBI, CIA, and
as private investigators. They can also work as an independent consultant or at colleges.
Criminal profilers are also able to testify in the court room (CriminalJusticePrograms). Some
personal qualifications to be a criminal profiler are they must be able to examine gruesome
crime scenes and be able to deal with appalling killers; having a weak stomach would not be
good for this job. They must also be well organized and ready for some tough work (Denis). An
overemotional, easily spooked, or somebody who does not understand others emotions well
would not be a good match with this career. Somebody with a logical mind and enjoys solving
puzzles would fit much better in this career (Dwilson). Not all profilers fit in these
characteristics but it will help one understand if they could be a potential good match. I would
only recommend people if they have the right temperament and personality: you cannot be timid
or scared in this line of work (Wilson). Educationally there is not a certain degree one needs to take
because this field is so small. There are several different options to choose from. Taking courses in
topics of police investigation or death investigation is a good start. Having a master s degree or a
Ph. D will improve the chances of finding somewhere to get a job. Most profilers have a degree in
psychology or more

Smoothie Blenders
A smoothie is a great way to get the nutrients your body requires from fruits and vegetables.
Smoothies have become very popular with health conscious people and are available in a variety
of flavors. What is a smoothie? A smoothie is a chilled blended beverage made from fruits and/or
vegetables. It is sometimes sweetened and may contain chocolate. Many smoothies include crushed
ice, honey or frozen fruits. They are consistent like milkshakes and are thicker than slush drinks.
Usually smoothies do not contain ice cream but there are some that contain milk and yogurt.
Smoothies are now available in cafes, coffeeshops and even in supermarkets but the best way to
get a smoothie that is tailor made for you is to make it yourself. To do this you... Show more content

You can choose between a portable immersion unit and a full sized container blender. The
portable immersion unit is designed for individual needs and is portable enough to carry to the
office for on the spot use. To make more than one glass of smoothie at a time you will need a
container blender. These electric blenders sit on your counter top. They are used to make large
batches of smoothies. They have a lot of power and can even blend ice and frozen fruits.
When choosing your smoothie blender you should consider how often you will be using it.
Different blenders run for different periods of time, if you are planning to use the blender for
longer periods of time then you need to get a heavy duty blender that will be able to handle the
load. Usually the run time of a blender depends on the RPM (Rotations per Minute) of the motor. A
good rule of thumb is that the lower the RPM the longer the run time though this is not always the
case.
Blenders run at a very high speed so it is important to get a blender that is sturdy. If you leave
your blender unattended it should not walk across the counter because of the vibrations from its
motor. Your blender should also come with a lid that fits snugly. The lid should not pop off and
cause a mishap if you are not there supervising. You should get a blender that has a tight lid and a
heave base, such a blender will be much safer to

An Analytical And Conceptual Framework On The Possibility...
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION This thesis explores an analytical and conceptual framework
on the possibility of employee ownership influence on organizational loyalty as it applies to the
modus operandi of John Lewis Partnership. There are divergent views about the influence of
employee ownership on organizational loyalty. Research suggests that ownership may influence
organizational loyalty (e.g. Taylor, 2011) but it is not completely clear how, thereby prompting
various researches and scientific experimentation on the subject matter. Scholars (e.g. Lampel et al,
2010) reviewing the performance differences between companies that practice employee ownership
framework and other forms, like State owned Enterprises (SOE) have provisioned mixed results. On
the average, these investigation by various scholars and academia opined that employee ownership
and privatization usually results in improved loyalty and financial performance (e.g., Andrew and
Dowling (1998); Martin and Parker (1997), Lioukas and Kouremenos (1989)). The process of
employee ownership, involving all business activities and functions associated with exploitation
and opportunities identification (Bygrave and Hofer, 1991; Shane and Venkataraman, 2000), have
spawned considerable interests from practitioners and academics. In reality, the employee
ownership functionalities are processes and elements that are vital to the growth of a business
organization and economy.

Pros And Cons Of Legalizing Drugs
Drug legalization is one of the hottest topics in the world today. Drug has both of advantages and
disadvantages for human, for society, or even for a country. It is common to see different views
held by people. Some people support drug legalization but others opposes that. This essay will
argue that drugshould not be legalized because although they are relaxing, there are also harmful
for one s health and can have a bad influence.
Some people think drugs should be legalized that could help people release painful and reduce
crime and violence without increase drug abuse. Drugs can help people who are in pain from
diseases like cancer relaxed and feel less pain. The chemical elements and hormones can make
people have a different feeling after they take the drugs. People could feel relax and pleasure during
they take the drug. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drug could reduce crime and violence. Most of the illegalized drug costs a lot so that people
who depend on taking drug have to pay money for their drugs, which would lead to more people
begin to stealing things by breaking the laws. (John intext ref) Property crime takes nearly half
of all crime in the United Kingdom and the amount of money is about two billion annually.
Legalizing drugs would reduce the costs of drug so that most of drugs are affordable, there
would be less people being crime and violence by stealing. Reducing the cost of policing drug
users who do not commit other crime can reduce the expenditure of the government and country
because it would costs a huge amount of money for government to send people who take illegal
drugs to court and prison. Legalized drug will not increase drug abuse. (intext ref) There is a
statistics show that dependent users take about 9% of all marijuana

Ode To A Nightingale Critical Analysis
Where does one go when he or she feels the need to disconnect from their reality ? People often
seek to escape their reality physically, but also mentally by using imagination. Imagination
allows one to disconnect from the real world problems that may cause fear, despairs, or isolation.
In John Keats poem, Ode to a Nightingale discusses the idea of mortality and death throughout
the poem by escaping reality. By looking at escapism, one can see the poet s struggle with
physical and mental state, which most readers don t see; this is important because it shows
symbolism through the nightingale. In Ode to a Nightingale Keats writes, My heart aches, and a
drowsy numbness pains/ My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk, comparing his heart ache
to the drowsy numbness pains because his pain makes him lack physical sensation. By drinking
the hemlock it is known he wants to escape and forget the heartache that does not make him feel
by drinking the poison. The poets urge to forget is shown he drinks the poison One minute past,
and Lethe wards had sunk , which refers to the river of forgetfulness. By drinking the poison and
drowning in Lethe wards it symbolizes his urge to drown in urge to feel by feeling numb to the
pain. It shows how to does not seek to face reality with his sorrow. Moreover, Keat arises the
question of his mental and physical state by envying the nightingale by stating Tis not through envy
of thy happy lot, / But being too happy in

Carrie Chapman Catt Research Paper
Peterson 1
Carrie Chapman Catt, one of the most influential women of the nineteen twenties, was born on
January 9, 1859. After living a meaningful life she died with integrity on March 9, 1947.
Carrie Clinton Lane was born in Ripon, Wisconsin to her parents Lucius and Maria. Carrie was the
second born of the three children that Lucius and Maria conceived. She graduated High School in
1877, after her family moved to Charles City, Iowa when she turned seven. After High School,
Carrie worked hard to get herself an education. She financed her way through college washing
dishes, working in the school library, and teaching. Finally, in 1880, she graduated as the only
woman in her class and the highest ranking from Iowa Agricultural College and ... Show more

The marriage with Mr. Catt allowed her to travel due to his support morally and financially; thus
leading to her national involvement with NAWSA (National American Woman Suffrage
Association). Becoming notorious for her writing and speeches, Catt spoke at the Washington D.C
convention for NAWSA, and later, as requested by Susan B. Anthony, Congress. These were major
accomplishments that led to Ms. Anthony s decision to choose Ms. Catt as her successor of
NAWSA. From there on Catt spent the majority of her time organizing women at campaigns, and
educating them with her speeches. With her newfound political experience Catt longed to broaden
her horizons to an international level. Accordingly, she organized the International Woman Suffrage
Alliance (IWSA). This new role led her to step down from her position as the president of NAWSA
to work with the thirty two nations involved with IWSA.
Her resignation in 1904 was consequently founded by her sickened husband. She spent a year
caring for him before his death in 1905. From there to 1907 Catt was anguished with the numerous
deaths that followed, Her close friend Susan B. Anthony passed away in 1906, followed by her
younger brother, William in 1907, and finally her mother. Notwithstanding, Catt

  • 4. A Guided Epiphany By Mary Joyce A Guided Epiphany In Eveline the main character, Eveline, lives a terrible life with a stern father, a miserable job, and a dreary home. When she is given the opportunity to leave her awful life and start a new life with her partner Frank, she rejects the offer and stays in Ireland. Immediately this presents the reader with an apparent paradox. Why did Eveline stay? Wasn t her life terrible? It is not until the reader digs a little deeper into Eveline does the paradox solve itself. Joyce uses various literary techniques to justify why Eveline did not leave with Frank. In order to solve the paradox of Eveline, Joyce uses sentence structure to show the importance of various characters to Eveline. The father in Eveline is given a lengthy amount of the story and longer sentences. Sentences such as He said she used to squander the money, ... he was usually fairly bad on Saturday night. (Joyce 65 68), and When they were growing up he had never gone for her ... for her dead mother s sake. (55 58) contain forty words and forty eight words respectfully. Frank at the beginning is given slightly longer sentences at his first introduction. The third sentence in Frank s introduction, She was to go away with him by the night boat to be his wife and to live with him in Buenos Ayres where he had a home waiting for her. (80 82), is thirty words long. As the story progresses Frank s sentences becoming increasingly shorter and shorter. After Eveline remembers her father caring for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This incident was not only a hate crime against gays but also a projection of the radical beliefs of Islam against homosexuals. Today, unlike the persecution of gay Muslims by the Islamic religion, the persecution of gay Jews within the Jewish community is not as acceptable. Surging since the creation of Facebook which now has over one billion active users. These social networks are services that allow individuals to create an online profile and create their own group of friends with whom to share a connection. They also allow users to share ideas, pictures/videos, posts, events, activities and their interests with people in their chosen network. There are many different social networks providing the same basic service to anyone who wishes to use them, but also bringing the same problems and risks. Social networks were made for communication, overcoming barriers like distance; however, it could also be that it is detrimental to communication and reduces basic communication skills. Trends indicate that 47 percent of American adults use a social network. A national survey in 2009 found that 73 percent of online teenagers use social network sites, which is an increase from 55 percent three years earlier. It s no wonder our real world social lives are seeing some changes. We once used to communicate with a single person by telephone or letter; writing has now become a very social way of communicating although it was once a solitary activity. Now, with one post we can reach thousands of people. Personal barriers are quickly broken down through the use of social media. • 7. Groupthink Differences The term groupthink was coined in 1952 by William Whyte a business author and editor in Fortune magazine (West Turner, 2014). However, it was not until 1972 that Irving Janis combined the concept with foreign policy decision making and a communication context (Janis, 1972; in West Turner, 2014). The main tenet of groupthinkis that the need for everyone to agree causes the group to suppress conflicting opinions by means to get along and make decisions. It is a way of deliberation that minimizes conflict and emphasizes the need for unanimity (West Turner, 2014, p. 252). • 8. We Can Not Control The Passage Of Time Our divided selves and our Self s: how we betray ourselves through our design O plunge your hands in water, Plunge them in up to the wrist; Stare, stare in the basin And wonder what you ve missed. As I Walked Out One Evening, W. H. Auden We cannot control the passage of time: like water, it slips through our fingers and reminds us that we are ephemeral. If we are born into this world without our will and we leave it without our will then, alone, each of us is vulnerable and separate. Vulnerable to the external forces which influence our sense of identity and then separate from one another due to our biological parameters. As life experience accumulates these newly deposited substances sediment and float to the surface to convalesce into ideas, opinions and emotions and, as Edward de Bono puts it, is where the brain becomes mind. Even if we cannot halt the passage of time or stop the water from flowing, our actions in the present have the power to direct the stream so that once we learn to swim we are able to choose what we do with our lives. If our time is biologically limited and if we need each other, in order to be personally fulfilled, it stands to reason that we should strive for a good life for everyone, so how can we do more good? If there is a mechanism which absolves us from our responsibility to be good, what is it? The simple answer could be that we are human. But what is humanity and how does our self awareness dictate our capacity to be good? A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Impact Of The Dodge Plan POST WAR JAPAN S ECONOMIC MIRACLE The Dodge Plan of 1948 In the year 1947, Cold War unrest had started building up in Eastern Asia that prompted the United States of America to revise its policies towards Japan in order to accelerate its economic recovery. The Dodge Plan conceived by Joseph Dodge in 1948 was implemented as a solution to bring Japan back to its complete strength and economic recovery. The Dodge Plan focused on resolving the serious problem of inflation and establishing a more stable Japan through three policies. First being a balanced budget, followed by suspension of new loans from the Reconstruction Finance Bank (this source of supply of money was identified as the root cause of inflation), and lastly, reducing as well as completely eliminating subsidies. The above mentioned policies were identified to aid in accelerating the Japanese economy. Dodge s policies caused problems along the way in its implementation but it created a path for recovery without the help of America. The Navajo do not view the body as a single being but as a connection to the rest of the world. Several states in the United States opposed bilingual educationand in 2002, Initiative 31 was on the Colorado ballot. Initiative or Amendment 31, required schools to be taught only in English (figure 1). Parents were given the option to request bilingual education, but it would be extremely difficult for it to be accepted, due to schools having the right to deny their request. On November 5, 2002, the initiative was rejected by 55 percent (Benz 1). Considering the rejection of the initiative, Colorado began adapting programs to assist English language learners (ELLs). The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all over the paper. Ethical Dilemma Of Mandatory Vaccinations Introduction The classic essay Tragedy of the Commons describes the dilemma society faces when the interests of a group conflicts with the interests of individuals (Hardin, 1968). The example presented is that of a group of cattle ranchers commingling their cattle in a common pasture. At full capacity, each cattle owner still has an incentive to include additional cattle, since the slight decrease in overall yield per animal is offset by the additional animal. The second step is to introduce the variable to the intervention in a scientific staggered method in order to show experimental control which is considered the (B) phase ( Byiers, Reichle, Symons, 2012). Once the intervention phases is stabilize the next step in the sequence is introduce. For each variable the data is individually documented so that visual analysis can show the varying conditions throughout the process. The visual analysis of graph often appears as a series of AB designed experiment stacked on top of each other (Richards, Taylor, Ramasamy, 2014). • 44. Femmer s Murder Is Wrong The Natural Law Theory suggested that Elmer s murder is wrong because it violates moral principles. While I do agree with this, Gray makes a strong argument in the sense that the court is expected to follow the law created by the people in authority. Before Francis s death, there was no mistakes in the will and the language of the statute governing wills was clearly written, making it a valid one. In other words, the court is required to uphold the validity of the will. In placing morality above the demands of the law, the majority judges meets the burden of overruling the written law. Therefore, positivists would agree that the rules governing wills must be applied as written and that a benefactor must inherit. It is true that the law can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Violence in the Arts В– Plato vs. Aristotle Essay Violence in The Arts В– Plato vs. Aristotle Nowadays, it is hard to turn on a television program, catch a movie or buy your younger sibling a video game without encountering a warning for extreme violence. Everyday, our lives are exposed to violence on the screen, whether it is in the latest Sopranos episode or even watching the six o clock news. For quite a while now, people have been demanding that stricter censorship be placed on the media, especially those programs and video games that can easily be obtained by the youth, due to their feelings that this violence can influence people to act out . However, this is not a new idea. Back in ancient Greece, the philosopher Plato believed that exposure to the emotions of the arts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato perceived the dramas as dangerous, because he felt that they created confusion, miscommunication and ignorance. He also felt that the entire world s evils came from a defective sense of reality and that these dramas promoted that. For example, take a young child who grew up somewhat isolated from the outside world and whose only outlet to our society is through the media. His steady contact with violent programs (which in the end, show a happy conclusion no matter what happens throughout) may convince him that this type of behavior is normal and accepted. Plato was concerned especially about the influence that drama and even pornography would have on children, because he felt that their minds were not developed to the full extent in order to differentiate between the right and wrong that they see in the dramas. Many people will be quick to agree that a child should not watch a rated R action movie, yet they still allow them to view a Saturday morning cartoon in which the main character gets run over every episode and still comes back the next week. This can create a faulty understanding of reality to a child, as well as an unsuspecting adult, because it does not clarify that death is final. What about the movies that emulate and perhaps glorify the lives of drug dealers and gangs? Are they encouraging one to participate in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Overview of Criminal Profiling Essay Being a criminal profiler is not like it is on all the television shows, but it is still an interesting and important job. Criminal profilers have been used to close many police and federal cases. They work in several homicide cases involving rape, racial killings, brutal killings, and involving serial killers. They help make it easier for the police to find the right person by examining the crime scene. Being a criminal profiler is a tough job but with hard work and dedication it is a great career choice. A criminal profiler gives a description of what they think the suspect looks like and acts like. They do this by examining the scenes of where the victims were murdered and looking for clues on why the suspect did it, how they did it,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A criminal profiler can work for the state, federal, or local law. Many work for the FBI, CIA, and as private investigators. They can also work as an independent consultant or at colleges. Criminal profilers are also able to testify in the court room (CriminalJusticePrograms). Some personal qualifications to be a criminal profiler are they must be able to examine gruesome crime scenes and be able to deal with appalling killers; having a weak stomach would not be good for this job. They must also be well organized and ready for some tough work (Denis). An overemotional, easily spooked, or somebody who does not understand others emotions well would not be a good match with this career. Somebody with a logical mind and enjoys solving puzzles would fit much better in this career (Dwilson). Not all profilers fit in these characteristics but it will help one understand if they could be a potential good match. I would only recommend people if they have the right temperament and personality: you cannot be timid or scared in this line of work (Wilson). Educationally there is not a certain degree one needs to take because this field is so small. There are several different options to choose from. Taking courses in topics of police investigation or death investigation is a good start. Having a master s degree or a Ph. D will improve the chances of finding somewhere to get a job. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You can choose between a portable immersion unit and a full sized container blender. The portable immersion unit is designed for individual needs and is portable enough to carry to the office for on the spot use. To make more than one glass of smoothie at a time you will need a container blender. These electric blenders sit on your counter top. They are used to make large batches of smoothies. They have a lot of power and can even blend ice and frozen fruits. When choosing your smoothie blender you should consider how often you will be using it. Different blenders run for different periods of time, if you are planning to use the blender for longer periods of time then you need to get a heavy duty blender that will be able to handle the load. Usually the run time of a blender depends on the RPM (Rotations per Minute) of the motor. A good rule of thumb is that the lower the RPM the longer the run time though this is not always the case. Blenders run at a very high speed so it is important to get a blender that is sturdy. If you leave your blender unattended it should not walk across the counter because of the vibrations from its motor. Your blender should also come with a lid that fits snugly. The lid should not pop off and cause a mishap if you are not there supervising. You should get a blender that has a tight lid and a heave base, such a blender will be much safer to ... CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION This thesis explores an analytical and conceptual framework on the possibility of employee ownership influence on organizational loyalty as it applies to the modus operandi of John Lewis Partnership. Research suggests that ownership may influence organizational loyalty (e.g. Taylor, 2011) but it is not completely clear how, thereby prompting various researches and scientific experimentation on the subject matter. • 50. Ode To A Nightingale Critical Analysis Where does one go when he or she feels the need to disconnect from their reality ? People often seek to escape their reality physically, but also mentally by using imagination. Imagination allows one to disconnect from the real world problems that may cause fear, despairs, or isolation. In John Keats poem, Ode to a Nightingale discusses the idea of mortality and death throughout the poem by escaping reality. By looking at escapism, one can see the poet s struggle with physical and mental state, which most readers don t see; this is important because it shows symbolism through the nightingale. In Ode to a Nightingale Keats writes, My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains/ My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk, comparing his heart ache to the drowsy numbness pains because his pain makes him lack physical sensation. By drinking the hemlock it is known he wants to escape and forget the heartache that does not make him feel by drinking the poison. The poets urge to forget is shown he drinks the poison One minute past, and Lethe wards had sunk , which refers to the river of forgetfulness. By drinking the poison and drowning in Lethe wards it symbolizes his urge to drown in urge to feel by feeling numb to the pain. It shows how to does not seek to face reality with his sorrow.
