Compare And Contrast Maria And Olivia
Share our similarities, celebrate our differences M. Scott Peck. When two humans from
different lifestyles along with even being in two separate books have so much in common that s
when people will start to look into the differences a bit more. Everybody has theses things about
them that make it where no one even if they were twins would have the exact same idea for
every tiny detail about themselves. If everyone in this world was the same as the person next to
them could you think of how boring this word would be? This earth would be unlike it is right
now so instead of everyone having their own life and things that make them special no it would
just be the same thing over and over again like you are just out of a copy machine. Therefore...

Maria looks up to Fatima, just like an older sister. She even called Fatima, sister at the end of the
book. Even though Maria didn t really talk a lot in the first half of the book she took time in her
work and because of that she had a wonderful imagination. Olivia looks up to Isabel her sister just
as Maria did to Fatima. Olivia also likes to go and dance to any music that she may hear. She
likes to make up her own moves and just like Maria this shows how much imagination she really
has. Even with similarities these two girls also have some unique differences in their character
traits. These girls may have some in common but their character traits are quite different from
each other. Maria is brave because she didn t make the carpet that was assigned to her instead
she made one with a kite. She is also Independent because at the beginning of the book she kept
to herself and didn t speak. Finally, she s loving because she never left Fatimas side when she
needed help. Olivia just like Maria is Loving and would do anything for her family. Olivia is
caring for when Isabel would get in trouble with their dad, Olivia would do something funny and
try to make Isabel happy again. She is outgoing too, because she would try to make friends with
everyone and didn t care who watched her while she danced. Lastly, she is adaptable because when
they moved to their aunt s house at the beginning of the book she adapted

Benjamin Rand Metaphors
Just like everybody else in the novel Benjamin Rand s takes the words of Chance when he talks
about the garden and uses that as a huge metaphor about being a productive businessman. Ben Rand
being the very best businessman that he is interprets what chance is saying to exactly what a
productive businessman would need to do but the meaning to what Chance was saying has a little
different meaning to what Ben thought.
Chance is saying that when plants are like people, he really means that they start as a sprout and
they grow to either become a flower and plant or a tree, and when they times comes from the sprout
to die it will die peacefully after it has done all of its duties to why it was made. The sprout cannot
do it on its own though. The

Daoism And Confucianism Essay
Daoism, Confucianism, Shintoism There are many religions that originated in Asia. These
religions that we are focusing on include Daoism, Confucianism, and Shintoism. The religions of
Daoism and Confucianism mainly originated in China, but like most religions, have now spread
all throughout Asia to many different cultures. Shintoism on the other hand, originated in Japan
and like the other two has also spread all throughout Asia. In this essay I will briefly discuss a few
of the main points of each of these religions and ways of life.
The first religion I will talk about is Daoism. Daoism seems to go pretty hand in hand with
Confucianism, both originating in China, but they obviously have a few differences too. Daoism
worships The Dao. Just like many other religions, their main person they worship isn t actually a
specific person but more so of a spiritual figure of worship. Daoism is a more relaxed religion
compared to Confucianism. The Daoist outlook is a very positive and accepting and joyful way
of life. Daoism also focuses a lot on the unknown and the metaphysical parts of life. This is a big
difference that distinguishes it from Confucianism, who does not value that as much. They do still
accept the metaphysical but do not necessarily value it or consider it of much importance. Daoism is

This religion is a study of the teachings of Confucius who was a widely known and popular
Chinese philosopher. To me Confucianism seems less like a religion, than it does more a way of
life. Confucianism has its own outlooks on basically everything, politically and spiritually. This is
a pretty unique religion. One main thing that Confucianism values is family and respecting your
elders. This is a common value found in a lot of religions but especially held high in this particular
one. Overall, Confucianism to me sounds like a way of life and culture, more than it does a

Literary Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy
Sylvia Plath, an incredibly renowned poet and novelist, is well known for her macabre, troubling,
yet amusing works of literature. One of the hallmarks of this is her poem Daddy. In this poem, the
speaker figuratively describes her relationship with her father through many caustic, abrasive
metaphors. The narrator emphasizes her resentment towards her father in this poem, however, the
speaker is unable to conceal the fact that she loves him as well. As such, this poem is filled with
raw emotional turmoil and no clear ideological champion by the end.
One of the most striking things about this poem is the continuous metaphor Plath uses comparing
the speaker s father to a Nazi and the speaker to a Jew. This simile conveys to the reader the degree
to which the narrator has suffered at the hands of her father. The narrator indicates that she is
not actually Jewish in her use of simile here: she states that she is like a Jew (34), which implies
that the speaker is distancing herself from actual Jews. However, the speaker says she may well
be a Jew (35) because her father s words served as an engine Chuffing [her] off like a Jew [...] to
Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen (33). In choosing to describe her relationship with her father as
analogous to the holocaust one of the most horrific, cruel, and inhumane events in human history
the narrator conveys the feeling of being tortured by her father. The narrator paints herself as a
helpless victim by saying that she related to people on trains to concentration camps. Although this
is a gross exaggeration of the speaker s circumstances, her use of this metaphor shows the
undeniably intense pain the speaker experienced at the hands of her father.
In addition to the animosity the speaker clearly has towards her father, another component
contributing to this disdain is fear of her father. In the first stanza, the narrator describes her father
as a black shoe/ In which [she has] lived like a foot/ For thirty years, poor and white,/ Barely
daring to breathe or Achoo (2 5). This is a telling metaphor because in the narrator describing
herself as the poor white foot in a black shoe, it demonstrates that she is unable to escape a
constraint which should not be forced

The objective of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) is to protect those who create works, such as
artistic works or literary works, as well as those other subject matter, such as films or sounds

But, what about those who use these protected works and other subject matter for interests different
to the above? Such as for educational purposes or for broadcasting? Under the act, there are listed
many defences to protect an individual or a corporation from infringement of copyright, or in other
words, directly or indirectly, infringing those exclusive rights that the copyright owner possess, also

Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar
According to The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, There was much debate concerning
the proper place of women and the ideal characteristics of femininity throughout the nineteenth
century (610). The Victorian Era formally followed the reign of Queen Victoria in England from
1837 to 1901, but the era is not so rigidly set. The ideologies, values, and mores associated with the
Victorian Erawere present before Queen Victoria, and then followed into America and also lived
sixty years past its recorded date of death. In the United States during the 1950s and 60s, the idea
of femininity was still being explored, just as it was a century prior in another country. Women in
the Victorian Era and in 1950s and 1960s America experienced... Show more content on

In the Victorian Era, men served as the head and face of all laws; therefore, women were
tyrannized by men through the law because man and law were inextricably linked together. All
women were expected to marry, so most oppressions took place within the marriage. Once a woman
married a man, she abandoned a part of herself. According to the Broadview Anthology of British
Literature, The common law doctrine of overture ensured that a woman s legal identity was
subsumed in that of her husbands upon marriage. In effect, the law of coverture regarded the
husband and wife as one person: the husband (508). Women had no identity or purpose beyond
that of her husband. After marriage, she was stripped of her former self only to then function as an
add on to his more superior person. Additionally, with the power that deemed the male as the
dominant counterpart, men were granted full control of his wife s personal property and any
earnings she acquired during the marriage (Broadview Anthology 508). For a Victorian woman, to
join a man in holy matrimony was to sign away all autonomy.
Moreover, women received pressures from the law and from society: The idea that women ought
to be subordinate to her husband was not only a matter of social expectation; it was also

Light And Dark Symbolism In Scarlet Letter
The author of The Scarlet Letter, Nathanial Hawthorne, is constantly using symbolism to keep
the reader engaged and curious. A symbol can stand for one thing but mean another. These
include symbolism s of light and dark, variations of the letter A , weeds and flowers, as well as
the scaffold. Because Nathanial Hawthorne wrote portraying a lot of symbolism, he created a
new style of writing. Hawthorne uses light and dark to symbolize the battle between good and
evil. Between Hester, Pearl, and Chillingworth. The first example is found in the first sentence
of chapter one, A throng of bearded men, in sad coloured garments and grey steeple crowned
hats (Hawthorne 11). The use of the color grey symbolizes sadness and a gloomy setting. Hester
s beauty and light is covered up by her sin and darkness. Hester is the only character that is
characterized by both light and dark. Chillingworth is only characterized by darkness and Pearl is
innocent and drawn to the light. The first variation of the letter A that Hester wears is used to
describe adultery. She is made to wear this letter on her chest to show other people that she is sinful
and committed adultery. Despite the big red letter on her chest, her beauty still shined through. The
letter A was meant to have a negative meaning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hawthorne writes that Chillingworth tortured Dimmesdale, it was observed that he gathered
herbs and the blossoms of wild flowers, and dug up roots and plucked off twigs from the forest
trees (83). It remains evident that Chillingworth was plucking the life out of Dimmesdale. Weeds
symbolize darkness overtaking and how it corrupts society. Hawthorne writes, which evidently
found something congenial in the soil that had so early borne the black flower of civilised society
(12). Black flower simply means non existence. It is expressed as negative and comes to mean the

J. L Granatstein s Who Killed Canadian History
I will be examining J. L. Granatstein book Who Killed Canadian History? on its general concept
and solution of the problem at hand. First and foremost, it is important readers know who
Granatstein is because it will explain why he writes so passionately about Canadian history.
Granatstein is one of the most recognized Canadian historians and authors, who have written an
impressive total of 45 books. Along with writing many books regarding Canada, he has won
many awards in regards to his work such as the UBC Medal for Canadian Biography, the J. B.
Tyrrell Historical Gold Medal, the Vimy Award, and the Order of Canada. His academic
achievements include honorary degrees from Memorial University and the University of Calgary.

I figured it was appropriate that the author did not place the blame on one party. Instead, he
addressed the various individuals in Canada that were not providing a fair education in its national
and political history as well as for the reasons why this is such a big deal. This book was
educational as it gave readers brief and sometimes precise examples, like how Canadians lack
national and political conscience within the academic curriculum. The Country s educational
system needs to do a better job training its educators and ultimately restructuring curriculums to
deal with our current problems. The book s exterior appearance is bright red, and often red, is
associated with power. I believe that this book has the authority to make readers think about their
experience concerning Canadian history but unfortunately, a majority of the population does not
know enough of its history to learn from the mistakes and successes of our predecessors. Along
with the strengths of this book (argumentative perspective, educational, and exterior appearance),
there were a few weaknesses as well. To elaborate on Granasteins effort, I believe he wrote from an
androcentric perspective. There were times when he sounded like a grumpy old historian man. I
think his little rants reduced the effectiveness of the book. He made many prejudice remarks
concerning multiculturalism and social history (gender studies, urban, economics, demographics,
etc.). Since history is an accumulation of time periods and each period varies in length, and the
intensity of the events, it might be tough to establish the nation s needs for clear, measurable
standards for history. There is only so much information that an individual s brain can retain for a
period before they start losing

Value Of Sacrifice Research Paper
The word sacrifice means that something is given up in order to benefit another person.
Sacrifices are placed into categories based upon what is being given up in order to benefit
someone else. There can be political, personal, and in this piece of literature, religious sacrifices.
Therefore, I will be discussing the vital values of sacrifices established in bible stories along with
when they are to be taken place.
As mentioned previously, sacrifices can vary in types such as personal, political, and religious. A
personal sacrifice comes from within someone such as a someone giving up a get together with
friends to help their mom around the house or helping out a friend study for future exams instead
of going to the movies. Next are political sacrifices which are all about political events, obviously,
and it all can go from quitting your job, giving up money and joining a simple protest to raging
mobs all depending on the drive of the people and their reaction to the event. Now religious ... Show

Take Abraham for example, a patriarch, who was a very devotional and humble servant of God,
willing to exchange his wealth and comfort from living in a nice home and in the suburbs to
living in a nomadic lifestyle. He was willing to do this because he had faith, love and trust in
God who asked him to do this life changing action. His sacrifice pertains value of Abraham s
relationship with God. Furthermore, Abraham also had to give up his son. He and his wife
Sarah had given out hope of parenting, but God had promised Abraham that he and his
descendants were going to be blessed. His supposedly blessed son was asked to be offered as a
sacrifice to God, Jehovah. Not only was Abraham making a sacrifice, but his adult son Isaac was
also willing to obey his father in giving his life without questioning. The value of obedience and
trust are portrayed with this sacrifice. Though, when is it proper to make a

Introduction of Art Nouveau
Introduction to Art Nouveau
The Art Nouveau ( new art ) movement was one of the first departures from classical art and
design, towards a new modernism. The Modernism and Art Nouveau movements occurred during
what was known in France as the Belle Г‰poque, or beautiful era period of the late 19th and
early 20th centuries. The movement was primarily influenced by the radical work of Czech
(Moravian) artist Alfons Mucha, Swiss decorative artist EugГЁne Grasset, and English illustrator
Aubrey Beardsley ( The Peacock Skirt ) and the ground breaking architecture and design work of
Hector Guimard of Paris and Antoni GaudГ of Barcelona.
The Art Nouveau movement focussed heavily on the themes of nature, fantasy, and the female

In particular because of the art gallery La Maison de l Art Nouveau , which was opened as a
showroom for the new art by a Japanese art collector, Siegfried Bing.
All the Art Nouveau artists were largely reacting against the Classic aesthetic, a style described as
often fussy and inhibited. They found a freeing vocabulary in natural and organic forms. The
movement s signature motif was the S curve, which might be found in a flower s stem on a brooch
or the trail of smoke from a cigarette depicted in a theater poster.
The Art Nouveau artists were not shy about the naked body, contrary to their predecessors, and the
Art Nouveau style is often described as a feminine one. But some Art Nouveau was also geometric
as the forms designed by Wiener Werkstatte and Josef Hoffmann.

Couch Potato Slacker
Imagine a world where everyone received the same exact amount of money every payday despite
the diverse career and job opportunities available. In a given neighborhood with equally nice
houses, heart surgeons and lawyers could be living right next door to garbage collectors and
waitresses. No matter how much hard work and effort an individual person puts into their job, that
person will still inevitably get the same paycheck as the couch potato slacker living right next door.
Equally upsetting is the lack of capacity to do something about this potential free rider problem; the

A Brief Look at the Work of Evan Holloway
Evan Holloway resists any definite classifications. Holloway employs a wide variety of found
objects such as tree branches, tires, and barbed wire, but also sculptural material such as steel and
paper Mache.
Holloway incorporates a lot of the figural objects into his sculptures. Small crudely formed faces
created with sculptamould which is a material similar to plaster, are often found in his work.
Usually adhered to steel rods or peering out from the side of the boxes. Each face is painted to
highlight the eyes and mouth, therefore each expresses a certain degree of personality. For the
work of 58, this face motif appears repeating itself fifty eight times. The work is part of an
ambitious series of one hundred total works that presents a numbered sculpture with the
corresponding amount of sculptamould faces easily balanced on steel rods. Based on doomsday
theories about population growth, this sculpture is at once calculated and rigorous but also playful
and amusing to look at.
When I look at this piece I see something different that I have never seen because when you first
look at it you think what is this? it s very random, but when you take a close look at it like at the
face molds you see the face expressions on them and each one is different like there trying to tell a
story about what s going on. As well as it look like a depressing story was being told about lost

The Is Not The Only Accusation Made By God Against Israel...
Idolatry was not the only accusation made by God against Israel and Judah. Corruption had
become the norm for the priest, leaders, businessmen, and common man alike. The people of
these nations cared only about what they had and wanted. They would lie, cheat, steal, and even
kill to get what they wanted. Their priests would only teach if they were paid. God gave the
priests a position of trust and responsibility to be the caretakers of the people. They were
supposed to be the shepherds, not the oppressors, of God s people. Instead, they turned their
backs on God s law and began selling themselves for money, power, and approval while they hid
behind the appearance of righteousness. God warned them that all of the wealth and
possessions they had prostituted themselves to get would once again be used to buy other
prostitutes. This statement may be confusing to some so look at what God is saying. The
people of Israel sold their integrity, morals, and beliefs for pleasure, popularity, and personal
gain. God is now telling them that all of these things will be taken from them and Satan will use
them to lure other people into the same type of prostitution. God s warnings and accusations that
are recorded in the books of the Major and Minor Prophets are not just for these ancient
Kingdoms. They apply to our world today. If we focus on His accusations of evil and not the
people or nations that these prophets warned, we can see the same rebellion and wickedness in our

Essay about Bravely J. Silver s Forces of Labour
There are several sociological theories in the study of contemporary labor unrest. However, this
essay will start off to examine the rationale of capital mobility and labor transformation
processes, as a coherent point of departure. To what extent is this approach significant? A simple
answer is the sociological framework of Silver (2003), which is our central focus, is in contrast
with the above approaches. Therefore, it s imperative to provide an overview of what Silver was
critical about. Silver conceived that the above approaches and numerous other literatures about labor
unrest and globalizationcomprise severe methodological ramifications. Contrary to these she states
that a coherent methodology should be able to situate ways in... Show more content on

The last section
In this section, we aim to explain ways in which the conceptualization of the race to bottom
generates different sociological interpretations. Although proponents of this thesis contradicts each
other in abstractions, yet they agreed that the impact of the late twentieth century has led to what
Zolberg (1995) calls an entire extinction of the social fabric, which sustains working class
formation (cited in Silver, 2003:1). The most polemic explanation to this trend, however, is central
to the impact of capital mobility and modifications of modern processes of a global capital
accumulation; of which both ushered under the archetype of what Silver calls the rubric of
globalization (2003). In the analysis that follows, we shall evaluate the degree to which
hypermobility of productive capital is hyped in explicating contemporary labor unrest. To this
extent, we can now turn to explore the effect of Multinational Corporations on existing labor unrest.
It has been shown that multinational corporations did enhance a thriving global job market, yet it
has unleashed a terminal effect to the traditional characteristics of working class. To this extent,
global workers were not only forced into frantic competition, but their most influential instrument
barging power has been diametrically devalued (2003:4). Buttressing this view, the

Abnormal Psychology Essay examples
It s human nature to wonder why we act the way that we do and why things happen. So many
scholars over the years have come up with numerous theories in order to categorize the things that
are known and explanations of what it all means. Life is full of trials and tribulations and those who
study maladaptive behavior usually focus on the thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and skills one uses
during daily living. Feelings, thoughts, perceptions and skills all combine to aid in creating our
mental states and lead to behavioral abnormalities. Thoughts are made up of ideas, concepts and the
internal dialogue a person has within their mind. Perceptions are how one interprets incoming

This perspective truly focuses on the mind body connection (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p.47). The
psychodynamic perspective believes that biological and mental are both equal contributors to
human life. Those who support the psychodynamic perspective believe that personality is shaped
by combining inner and outer events, with emphasis on the inner events (Sarason Sarason, 2005,
p.59). Basically, our experiences shape who we are. Sigmund Freud is the most well known
theorist of this type with the basis of his concept involving the conscious and unconscious psychic
connection (Sarason Sarason, 2005, p60). The third theory of abnormal behavior is the behavioral
perspective specifically focusing on how the environment affects how we behave. Those who
formed the behavioral perspective felt that Freud s ideas were too complicated and that this was a
simpler way to explain human behavior simply that we are a product of our environment (Sarason
Sarason, 2005, p.67). The cognitive perspective puts emphasis on how people acquire and interpret
information and use it in problem solving. This perspective also emphasizes the mental processes
that people are unaware of or can be made aware of. The cognitive perspective focuses on our
present thoughts and relationships between emotions, motivations and

We would enter Belgium using FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) entry strategy. There are several
reasons why we choose this entry strategy. FDI provides companies with new markets, cheaper

is defined as a company from one country making a physical investment into building a factory in
another country. Reduction of Production Costs. Brewingbeer in Belgium is cheaper, we believe
that we would find 20% or more cost savings on brewing beer in Belgium. Also, it may also be

Direct foreign investment is also driven by significant strategic considerations. Selling in
Belgium, directly or indirectly, is a chance to diversify risks and reduce the risk that economic,
financial or political problems in one market will have a significant impact on financial
statements. If the market encounters a slowdown, our business will be materially affected.
However, our sales would be spread out equally over the foreign market, a downturn in one may
not have a material impact on its sales, profits, ratios or stock price.
Protecting or Increasing Sales Revenues. We want to begin to produce in Belgium market in order
to be as close as possible to our major customers. Also, production in a foreign market can also be a
means of obtaining new customers.
Vertical Integration. Rather than trying to integrate outsiders, we feel that it is easier to perform all
the functions ourselves. Such internalization cuts back on the coordination and potential conflicts,
and allows us to exercise control over all aspects of the production. We also might be able to shift
profits to operations in lower tax jurisdictions.Competition in Belgium is huge in beer market.

In the United States today there are millions of corporations in many different industries. All of
them must abide by the current taxation rules and regulations that have been set by IRS and
congress. The Internal Revenue Code, which was originally founded in 1939, set the foundation for
the codification that we have in place today. The code arranged all Federal Taxprovisions in a
logical order and placed them in a separate part of the federal status. Over the years, congress has
updated and amended the tax code in 1954, in 1986 Tax Reform Act, and is constantly updating the
code due to its importance in assessing judicial and administrative decisions. The ... Show more

Importance Of Being A Minister Of Christ Essay
Why does Richard Baxter emphasis the importance of being a minister of Christ?
If there is anything that is to be the characteristic of the reformed pastor it is that his mind and
life must bear the image of the servanthood of Christ. Following after Christ words, I have come
not to be served but to serve others and to give my life as a ransom for many .This is why in his
book, The Reformed Pastor, Baxter is eagerly encouraging those in ministry to know their called
identity as under shepherds of the Great Shepherd; and therefore following the model of Jesus
Christ earthly ministry as their personal template for shepherding the Lord s flock.
He does this by first expounding on the meaning behind the title of his work. It is not for those
of the reformed or Calvin doctrine, but for all those in ministry to continually be reforming the
character of their lives. This does not mean the reforming that is called to take place is solely
found in the reshaping of the mind through the doctrines of grace, though important. But it is a
wholistic reviving of their life; touching every aspect of it and coating it in the the doctrines of
grace; so that, to mirror and live as Christ lived, to be in His likeness. So the reforming of the
Pastor is not just for a micro and personal wholistic change but also for the people of God, causing
it to become a macro restyling and clothing in the doctrines of God. He is called to do this by
modeling the transforming power of the Word of God and

Quantum Technology Essay
While the current leaders in the field of quantum computing are undoubtable Google and IBM they
tend to keep the details of how their quantum computers to work a secret, only releasing the
capabilities of their current machines occasionally. So, instead we must look to D Wave, a
Canadian company that was the first to commercially sell quantum computers, specifically their
most recent model, the 2000Q. This machine isn t quite the super computerthat was hypothetically
brought up in the previous section, but instead, according to the company s website it is hyper
focused on a single task, finding the minimum value of a complex system [10]. Like all quantum
computers, it uses qubits instead of classical bits, and like the name implies, it... Show more content

The other quantum aspect to this computer is that the quantum states may overlap with
neighboring magnets, which to put straightforwardly, means that they can act collectively [11].
This is important because there could be a scenario where an individual magnet flipping would
cause the energy state to increase while several flipping at the same time would cause the energy
state to decrease [11]. This switch of several simultaneously would ordinarily be highly unlikely,
but due to the quantum states overlapping there is a much higher probability of this occurring
[11]. Though cooling the chip down to near absolute zero the magnets will realign themselves
many times, each time at a lower energy state, eventually reaching what is very likely the correct
solution [10] To account for the fact that it isn t guaranteed to be the best answer the computer will
return several values scaled to show which if the answers is optimal [10]. The black box housing
the chip not only houses the cooling unit, but also helps to regulate many other environmental
factors. One of the more important ones is that it shields to 50,000 times less than Earth s magnetic
field which is very important considering that the qubits are themselves small magnets [10]. It also
reduces pressure to ten billion times lower than standard atmospheric pressure which makes sure
that there aren t stray gas particles floating around in the magnetic fields [10]. And one

Historical Importance of Civil Codes and Laws
Amy Webb HIS 121 02 WESTERN CIVILIZATION I Fall, 2011 Historical Importance of Civil
Codes and Laws When studying history we must consider the importance of law. Before there
was written word, and set guides for what we consider civil behavior, there was no way for a
civilization to grow under a centralized government with set laws and order to influence the
actions of its population. When a crime was committed there was no set punishment. Where there
is no law there is no transgression (KJV Bible, Romans 4:15). Historically civil code and laws

The Negative Impacts Of Social Media, Technology And Privacy
Social media and technology play major roles today. For example, we use technology and social
media to connect with one another and attain knowledge. While these advancements have
helped improve our quality of life, there are a multitude of negative aspects that come alongside
today s technology. There are countless of victims who have had to go through issues dealing
with privacy and securing personal data. These negative factors can cause personal harm, such
as, the loss of personal information and the manipulation of firsthand assets. We are connected to
numerous websites and applications that have our personal information on their records. These
applications are not always secure as we would hope they would be. For example, I have had
issues in the past with my PlayStation account being hacked. I enjoy playing a variety of games
which I buy through the PlayStation Store while having payment methods on file. I was locked

To overcome this resistance to change, it is essential that Eitel form positive relationships with his
workers along with good support and commitment. He could do this by encouraging better
communication in the company and educating the management about his plan by communicating
the logic of his proposed changes. If the employees see the full facts and solve the
misunderstandings, resistance should subside. This can be done by allowing the employees to
develop and form the plans to introduce changes with him which would allow for enhanced
participation and acceptance of the change as the employees would have a sense of ownership in
the change made which will make it much easier for them to conform once everyone is on board
for the decision. Eitel should also make sure that all changes are fair to everyone and do not come
of as being biased which could create discrepancies among the workers.
Other than that, he should focus on activities such as intergroup development, which seeks to
change the groups attitudes, stereotypes and perceptions about each other through training sessions,
which focus on differences among occupations, departments, or divisions within an organization.

The Theme Of Forgiveness In The Power Of One Peekay
Forgiveness can have different reason for forgiving and different ways it would effect a person.
There is forgiving someone for just being rude or calling someone names. There is forgiving
someone for harming them mentally or physically. No matter the reason for forgiving someone the
impact can be big on the person doing the forgiving. In The Power of OnePeekay and a few others
forgive people for harming them or just insulting them. Peekay is the one who forgives people
most often. Peekay was still able to forgive the Judge after he wronged him multiple times. He
still had it in his heart to do so. Peekay also would forgive the Judge because he realized that what
the Judge had done to him had improved him physically and mentally. Even though Peekay was
able to forgive people that didn t mean he was able to forget the things they had done to him. He
was still hurt by the way they treated him. In The Power of One, Bryce Courtenay uses the theme
of forgivenessto demonstrate how Peekay can forgive after many hardships, how Peekay can
forgive someone because the way they wronged him helped him later in life, and how forgiving
doesn t always mean forgetting. Courtenay expresses the theme of forgiveness by using Peekay as
an example of how someone can forgive even after many hardships. Throughout the story Peekay is
continuously having struggles with bullies, losing people, and trying to start his boxing career. The

Islamic Banking Practices Compared to Conventional Banking...
Introduction
The co existence of conventional banking along with Islamic banking gives an exceptional
platform to compare Islamic banking practices with those of conventional banking practices. It is
clearly known that Islamic banks are different from those of conventional banks since they do not
deal with interest (Riba), i.e. usury, which is totally banned in Islam. In other words, banks are not
allowed to take an interest rate on the loans given to customers. The concept considered in Islamic
banking is the profit and loss sharing (PLS) which is based on profit sharing and joint venture that
goes with Islamic Sharia. In fact, PLS adapts the system of integration in which borrowers share

Importance of the Study
The privilege of Islamic banking is that it provides the same services the conventional banks
provide but with the Islamic Sharia. What is more important of this study is to find out more about
the profit and loss sharing PLS paradigm.
Objectives of the Study
The main objective of this study is: (a) to find out the extent of using profit and sharing paradigm
in Islamic banks in Jordan; (b) to search about the main principles of Islamic interest free banking
and operations compared to interest based banking system in Jordan; and (c) to compare between
conventional deposit rates and Islamic investment rates.
This study examines the principles and criteria Islamic banking operates in providing their financial
services which make different from those of conventional banks.
The Methodology
To find out more about the usage of profit loss sharing paradigm in Islamic banking system, the
researcher will consider the long run relation and the short run dynamics between conventional
deposit rates and Islamic investment rates. To investigate about the profit and loss sharing
paradigm, we follow (Chong Ming Hua, 2009) long run and short run principles and efficiencies
tests to compare the conventional deposit rates with those of Islamic banking rates. The Bivariate
Granger Causality Test will be first used to determine the dependent and independent variables of
this feature.
Two hypotheses will be tested: (a) changes in the

Traditional dishes such as haggis, mince and tatties, and arbroath smokies indicate this. Mutton,
beef, and fish have been so popular in Scottish cuisine throughout time simply because they are
the most readily available ingredients. Dairy products are also widely used. These are provided
by the heavy grazing aspect of their agriculture industry, and their proximity to the ocean.
Because of this, mutton, beef, and fish are the main sources of protein in Scotland. Also, lipids
are most commonly received through the consumption of fish oil or dairy products such as milk.
Products such as oats, barley, and root vegetables, mostly potatoes, are also extremely common in
the Scottish diet, for the fertile lowlands and temperate climate provide perfect growing
conditions for such foods. This means that carbohydrates are mostly provided by potatoes and oat
and barley products such as cereal. However, in a health survey conducted in 2014, it was found
that only one in five Scottish adults met the daily recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables.
This suggests that while Scots are well provided with protein, lipids, and carbs, their diets may be
seriously lacking in vital nutrients provided by fruits and vegetables, such as fiber, potassium, and
vitamin

Their results indicate that the students chose not to major in accounting because they perceived it
to be too number oriented and boring.
A study by Friedlan (1995) asked Canadian accounting students both at the beginning and end of the
course the perceived importance of 12 skills on their ability to perform well in introductory
accounting, and the importance of 13 skills for performance as accounting practitioners. While the
Friedlan study assessed students perceptions of the skills needed to perform well academically and
professionally, it did not directly assess students perceptions of the introductory accounting course
itself.
Benefits
There have been several studies that have attempted to examine whether the introductory
accounting course has the ability to attract the best and the brightest students to accounting (e.g.,
Inman, Wentzler, and Wicker, 1989; Baldwin and Ingram, 1991; Adams, Pryor, and Adams, 1994;
Nelson and Deines, 1995; Riordan, St. Pierre, and Matoney, 1996). Riordan, et al. (1996) examined
whether the introductory course appeared to attract or retain quality students (as measured by
GPA). They found that the mean GPA of intended accounting majors was higher than that of non
accounting students before the introductory course, and that students transferring into accounting
after the course had higher GPAs than those transferring out. These results suggest that the
introductory course may

The Rise and Fall of Dynasties in China
The rise and fall of dynasties in china
Introduction
Rhoads Murphey describes the history of China history is on the succession of dynasties that
ruled it over a period of time until around 1912 when Republic of china was formed before rising
to the current People s Republic of China was formed in 1949. In China, a dynasty was made up of
Kings or emperors that came from the same family. They ruled in succession where a king could
be inherited by his son or his immediate relatives. Although china s history is majorly regarded on
the basis of dynastic ruling, other small kingdoms were established that ruled different part of
china. For example, in 200AD, the fall of great Han dynasty triggered formation of smaller
kingdoms all over the china which were later united by a short lived Sui Dynasty that reigned
between 580 and 618 AD.
In Murphey s book varied dynasties have been described how they came to power and how they
eventually collapsed. From his book, various reasons for dynastic rise in china can be
summarized as follows; most dynasties were founded through force and especially when there
was disorder in a given dynasty. This could even break into a fight and those who won could
take up and rule for a period of time waiting to be overthrown by other powerful people. Dynasty
could also rise as a result of leaders who were very powerful and vigourous. These leaders could
create their own stable and prosperous kingdom that secured it territories and people.

Vanity Fair Corporation Inc. Essay
Vanity Fair Corporation was founded in 1899 and originally went by the name of Reading
Glove and Mitten Manufacturing Company in Pennsylvania. The company is now
headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company is associated with more than 30
brands that can all be structured into five different coalitions, or categories. They are Outdoor
Action Sports, Jeanswear, Imagewear, Sportswear and Contemporary brands. The brands can
also be divided between heritage and lifestyle brands. A successful corporation like Vanity Fair
can date back its success for many years but it also has room for improvements. There are a few
issues that the company should really work on in order to stay successful for years to come.
Vanity Fair was initially a vertically integrated company that made its way to becoming a
company involved in extensive outsourcing. According to the case Vanity Fair Brands: Global
Supply Chain Strategy, Most apparel companies typically concentrated on design and marketing,
and generally performed little or none of their own production, much of which had been
transferred to low cost countries around the world. In fact, while 49% of retail apparel sold in
the United States was made domestically in 1992, by 1999 this figure had dropped to only 12%.
It was very common for companies to switch gears on their production operations in order to
maintain low costs for the company. This can be a problem for Vanity Fair because it does not
allow for a chance to expand on

Department Of Nutrition Essay
Our democracy is built off a system of separation of powers, however sometimes those powers get
more tied together than they are supposed to be. President Pisapia s new Department of Nutrition
has brought these branches together, involving party partisanship. Pisapia and the National Party
are supporters of this Department, competing against the American Party. This Department led to a
close battle in the Court, but it is eventually declared legal. However, now that the American Party
has come into power in the House, the path for the Department of Nutrition is unclear. This
situation is mainly driven by the parties divide over the matter. The Department of Nutrition sounds
like it has good intentions, however it could put limits on our... Show more content on

This also reflects on the congressmen of the National Party. They were in favor of a more
radical Department that would increase the role of the government in people s lives. As David
Mayhew, in Congress: The Electoral Connection, says, probably the best position taking strategy
for most congressmen at most times is to be conservative to cling to their own positions of the
past where possible and to reach for new ones with great caution where necessary (Congress: The
Electoral Connection). Because these congressmen took such stark stances on the matter, it made
them stand out and they became easily desired to be replaced. This led to a take over the House
by the American Party, reflecting the change in the will of the people. Not only is this issue a
polarizing subject within the House, but also within the Court. The creation of the Department was
ruled legal by the Court, however it can also be seen as unconstitutional. The Court ruled in favor
of the creation of this department with a 5 4 vote, calling that it was stated under the First Article.
A 5 4 vote is a close vote, and it is not surprising the judges aligned with their party. The judges that
were nominated by National Party were the ones that held up the law, and the American Party voted
against it. The ruling on this department depends on how

Weapons Of Mass Destruction In Iraq
However, in the months following this Resolution, evidence to suggest Iraq s non compliance
concerning the removal or destruction of Weapons of Mass Destruction could not be verified
through the United Nations. Hans Blix and Mohamed ElBaradei were still investigating when the
United States declared war, however, prior to the declaration, they reported no evidence of non
compliance. Colin Powell s plea to the UN to sanction the use of armed force was not obliged, in
response to this in March 2003, the United Statesclaimed diplomacy had failed, thus the only
rational course of action was toppling Saddam s regime. The United States had attempted to acquire
a UN sanctioned invasion but failed to do so. This begs the question; why did the United States use
an argument that cited UNSCRs, yet themselves, fail to comply with United Nations demands?...

The answer to this is, of course, change the argument. Prior to the invasion, the United States
declared the war an act of pre emption, based on shaky evidence that they were unwilling to
corroborate. The United States claimed that Saddam had Weapons of Mass Destruction, and also
colluded with terrorist organizations. Considering this, the United States felt that it was imperative
that they topple the regime in order to safeguard the country from an attack by either Saddam or by
terrorists backed by

The Contract Will Stand Between Ben And Colin Essay
Defined by MacQueen and Thomson, a contract is: ... an agreement between two or more parties
having the capacity to make it, in the form demanded by law, to perform, on one side or both, acts
which are not trifling, indeterminate, impossible or illegal. . While drunk on a stag night out in
Glasburgh, Ben bought a 1970s London style Routemaster for ВЈ57,000. Which on the following
morning he said that did not mean to order the vehicle, but Colin (the seller) insisted on the deal. To
determine whether the contract will stand between Ben and Colin, as defined by MacQueen and
Thomson, the essential features of contract formation, together with the intention to create legal
relations and his contractual capacity will need to be examined.
The first important issue that would have to be tackled is that of contract formation. Was there an
offer and a relevant acceptance of that offer? To begin with, it needs to be determined whether there
was an offer. Ben bought the bus through the garthdon jumbles.eu website and despite a price being
displayed the initial advert was an invitation to treat. An invitation to treat is when the person who
made the invitation to treat is not obligated to accept the offer in the absence of a promise to do
so . The invitation to treat was only then made into an offer when Colin sent an email of
acceptance saying: Hello Ben! Thank you buying the Routemaster! I confirm that I accept your
offer to buy the vehicle for ВЈ57,000. When can I expect you to

Osteoporosis Is The Most Common Bone Disease
Osteoporosis
Background: Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease and is characterized by low bone
mass, deterioration of bone tissue and disruption of bone architecture, compromised bone strength,
and an increase in the risk of bone fracture. The World health organization (WHO) defines
osteoporosis as having a bone mineral density (BMD) at the hip or the lumbar spine of less than or
equal to 2.5 standard deviations below the mean BMD of a young adult reference population. Based
on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III (NHANES III), NOF has
estimated that more than 9.9 million Americans have osteoporosis and an additional 43.1 million
have low bone density.2 About one out of every two Caucasian women will experience an
osteoporosis related fracture at some point in her lifetime, as will approximately one in five men.
The bone remodeling process consists of continually removing older bone and replacing it with new
bone and plays and important role in maintaining a healthy skeleton. A decrease in bone density
occurs when this balance is altered, resulting in greater bone removal than replacement. This
imbalance is seen greatly with advancing age and menopause. With the onset of menopause, the
rate of remodeling increases and it increases the risk of fractures.
Prolia (denosumab) is a RANK ligand that is approved by the FDA in 2010.

Religion, Money, And The Scientific Revolution
The modern world was created through many events such as Scientific Revolutions, factors such
as religion, money, and even the creation and fall of widely known empires. With these
revolutions, factors and institutions it shaped the world from the start to how we see the world
now. One revolution couldn t happen without the start of another down the road, and the fall of
one empire would spark the start of another. These are only a few reasons of how the modern
world was created. The most important ones that shaped the world we live in today are religion,
money, and the Scientific Revolution.
Religion can be defined as a system of human norms and values that is founded on a belief in a
superhuman order (p.210). Religion helped cultures define ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Without the evolution of money from shells and skills that people had we would not have bills
and coins and our trade would be limited greatly and this would not make us a modern world. A
money system needed to happen for the world to continue effectively. As well as the evolution of
religion this plays a big part in how we communicate with each other. If religion empires would
have not been conquered by people who believe in humanist religions we could possibly still be
under a rule where people have to summit to a certain religion. Lastly the Scientific Revolution was
able to shape our modern world for the best. The Scientific Revolution almost coincided with the
Industrial Revolution in that new technology emerged. It also created modern medicine which is
vital to anyone in todays world. Although it funded capitalist creed it was not such a bad thing
because we need capital in our world to keep finding new findings. People are not just going to go
and explore unknown parts of the world for free. Our modern world is a beautiful place even
though some issues that occurred during the formation of modernization the planet are still being
worked on today.

  • 2. Compare And Contrast Maria And Olivia Share our similarities, celebrate our differences M. Scott Peck. When two humans from different lifestyles along with even being in two separate books have so much in common that s when people will start to look into the differences a bit more. Everybody has theses things about them that make it where no one even if they were twins would have the exact same idea for every tiny detail about themselves. If everyone in this world was the same as the person next to them could you think of how boring this word would be? This earth would be unlike it is right now so instead of everyone having their own life and things that make them special no it would just be the same thing over and over again like you are just out of a copy machine. Therefore... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Maria looks up to Fatima, just like an older sister. She even called Fatima, sister at the end of the book. Even though Maria didn t really talk a lot in the first half of the book she took time in her work and because of that she had a wonderful imagination. Olivia looks up to Isabel her sister just as Maria did to Fatima. Olivia also likes to go and dance to any music that she may hear. She likes to make up her own moves and just like Maria this shows how much imagination she really has. Even with similarities these two girls also have some unique differences in their character traits. These girls may have some in common but their character traits are quite different from each other. Maria is brave because she didn t make the carpet that was assigned to her instead she made one with a kite. She is also Independent because at the beginning of the book she kept to herself and didn t speak. Finally, she s loving because she never left Fatimas side when she needed help. Olivia just like Maria is Loving and would do anything for her family. Olivia is caring for when Isabel would get in trouble with their dad, Olivia would do something funny and try to make Isabel happy again. She is outgoing too, because she would try to make friends with everyone and didn t care who watched her while she danced. Lastly, she is adaptable because when they moved to their aunt s house at the beginning of the book she adapted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Benjamin Rand Metaphors Just like everybody else in the novel Benjamin Rand s takes the words of Chance when he talks about the garden and uses that as a huge metaphor about being a productive businessman. Ben Rand being the very best businessman that he is interprets what chance is saying to exactly what a productive businessman would need to do but the meaning to what Chance was saying has a little different meaning to what Ben thought. Chance is saying that when plants are like people, he really means that they start as a sprout and they grow to either become a flower and plant or a tree, and when they times comes from the sprout to die it will die peacefully after it has done all of its duties to why it was made. • 4. Daoism And Confucianism Essay Daoism, Confucianism, Shintoism There are many religions that originated in Asia. These religions that we are focusing on include Daoism, Confucianism, and Shintoism. The religions of Daoism and Confucianism mainly originated in China, but like most religions, have now spread all throughout Asia to many different cultures. Shintoism on the other hand, originated in Japan and like the other two has also spread all throughout Asia. In this essay I will briefly discuss a few of the main points of each of these religions and ways of life. The first religion I will talk about is Daoism. Daoism seems to go pretty hand in hand with Confucianism, both originating in China, but they obviously have a few differences too. Daoism worships The Dao. Just like many other religions, their main person they worship isn t actually a specific person but more so of a spiritual figure of worship. Daoism is a more relaxed religion compared to Confucianism. The Daoist outlook is a very positive and accepting and joyful way of life. Daoism also focuses a lot on the unknown and the metaphysical parts of life. This is a big difference that distinguishes it from Confucianism, who does not value that as much. They do still accept the metaphysical but do not necessarily value it or consider it of much importance. Daoism is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This religion is a study of the teachings of Confucius who was a widely known and popular Chinese philosopher. To me Confucianism seems less like a religion, than it does more a way of life. Confucianism has its own outlooks on basically everything, politically and spiritually. This is a pretty unique religion. One main thing that Confucianism values is family and respecting your elders. This is a common value found in a lot of religions but especially held high in this particular one. Overall, Confucianism to me sounds like a way of life and culture, more than it does a ... • 5. Literary Analysis Of Sylvia Plath s Daddy Sylvia Plath, an incredibly renowned poet and novelist, is well known for her macabre, troubling, yet amusing works of literature. One of the hallmarks of this is her poem Daddy. In this poem, the speaker figuratively describes her relationship with her father through many caustic, abrasive metaphors. The narrator emphasizes her resentment towards her father in this poem, however, the speaker is unable to conceal the fact that she loves him as well. As such, this poem is filled with raw emotional turmoil and no clear ideological champion by the end. One of the most striking things about this poem is the continuous metaphor Plath uses comparing the speaker s father to a Nazi and the speaker to a Jew. This simile conveys to the reader the degree to which the narrator has suffered at the hands of her father. The narrator indicates that she is not actually Jewish in her use of simile here: she states that she is like a Jew (34), which implies that the speaker is distancing herself from actual Jews. However, the speaker says she may well be a Jew (35) because her father s words served as an engine Chuffing [her] off like a Jew [...] to Dachau, Auschwitz, Belsen (33). In choosing to describe her relationship with her father as analogous to the holocaust one of the most horrific, cruel, and inhumane events in human history the narrator conveys the feeling of being tortured by her father. The narrator paints herself as a helpless victim by saying that she related to people on trains to concentration camps. Although this is a gross exaggeration of the speaker s circumstances, her use of this metaphor shows the undeniably intense pain the speaker experienced at the hands of her father. In addition to the animosity the speaker clearly has towards her father, another component contributing to this disdain is fear of her father. In the first stanza, the narrator describes her father as a black shoe/ In which [she has] lived like a foot/ For thirty years, poor and white,/ Barely daring to breathe or Achoo (2 5). This is a telling metaphor because in the narrator describing herself as the poor white foot in a black shoe, it demonstrates that she is unable to escape a constraint which should not be forced ... The objective of the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) is to protect those who create works, such as artistic works or literary works, as well as those other subject matter, such as films or sounds recordings, from those who would serve to exploit or profit from their labor, skill and creativity. • 8. Sylvia Plath s The Bell Jar According to The Broadview Anthology of British Literature, There was much debate concerning the proper place of women and the ideal characteristics of femininity throughout the nineteenth century (610). The Victorian Era formally followed the reign of Queen Victoria in England from 1837 to 1901, but the era is not so rigidly set. The ideologies, values, and mores associated with the Victorian Erawere present before Queen Victoria, and then followed into America and also lived sixty years past its recorded date of death. In the United States during the 1950s and 60s, the idea of femininity was still being explored, just as it was a century prior in another country. In the Victorian Era, men served as the head and face of all laws; therefore, women were tyrannized by men through the law because man and law were inextricably linked together. All women were expected to marry, so most oppressions took place within the marriage. Once a woman married a man, she abandoned a part of herself. According to the Broadview Anthology of British Literature, The common law doctrine of overture ensured that a woman s legal identity was subsumed in that of her husbands upon marriage. In effect, the law of coverture regarded the husband and wife as one person: the husband (508). Women had no identity or purpose beyond that of her husband. After marriage, she was stripped of her former self only to then function as an add on to his more superior person. Additionally, with the power that deemed the male as the dominant counterpart, men were granted full control of his wife s personal property and any earnings she acquired during the marriage (Broadview Anthology 508). For a Victorian woman, to join a man in holy matrimony was to sign away all autonomy. Moreover, women received pressures from the law and from society: The idea that women ought to be subordinate to her husband was not only a matter of social expectation; it was also ... • 9. Light And Dark Symbolism In Scarlet Letter The author of The Scarlet Letter, Nathanial Hawthorne, is constantly using symbolism to keep the reader engaged and curious. A symbol can stand for one thing but mean another. These include symbolism s of light and dark, variations of the letter A , weeds and flowers, as well as the scaffold. Because Nathanial Hawthorne wrote portraying a lot of symbolism, he created a new style of writing. Hawthorne uses light and dark to symbolize the battle between good and evil. Between Hester, Pearl, and Chillingworth. The first example is found in the first sentence of chapter one, A throng of bearded men, in sad coloured garments and grey steeple crowned hats (Hawthorne 11). The use of the color grey symbolizes sadness and a gloomy setting. Hester s beauty and light is covered up by her sin and darkness. Hester is the only character that is characterized by both light and dark. Chillingworth is only characterized by darkness and Pearl is innocent and drawn to the light. The first variation of the letter A that Hester wears is used to describe adultery. She is made to wear this letter on her chest to show other people that she is sinful and committed adultery. Despite the big red letter on her chest, her beauty still shined through. The letter A was meant to have a negative meaning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hawthorne writes that Chillingworth tortured Dimmesdale, it was observed that he gathered herbs and the blossoms of wild flowers, and dug up roots and plucked off twigs from the forest trees (83). First and foremost, it is important readers know who Granatstein is because it will explain why he writes so passionately about Canadian history. Granatstein is one of the most recognized Canadian historians and authors, who have written an impressive total of 45 books. Along with writing many books regarding Canada, he has won many awards in regards to his work such as the UBC Medal for Canadian Biography, the J. B. Tyrrell Historical Gold Medal, the Vimy Award, and the Order of Canada. His academic achievements include honorary degrees from Memorial University and the University of Calgary. Instead, he addressed the various individuals in Canada that were not providing a fair education in its national and political history as well as for the reasons why this is such a big deal. This book was educational as it gave readers brief and sometimes precise examples, like how Canadians lack national and political conscience within the academic curriculum. The Country s educational system needs to do a better job training its educators and ultimately restructuring curriculums to deal with our current problems. The book s exterior appearance is bright red, and often red, is associated with power. I believe that this book has the authority to make readers think about their experience concerning Canadian history but unfortunately, a majority of the population does not know enough of its history to learn from the mistakes and successes of our predecessors. Along with the strengths of this book (argumentative perspective, educational, and exterior appearance), there were a few weaknesses as well. To elaborate on Granasteins effort, I believe he wrote from an androcentric perspective. There were times when he sounded like a grumpy old historian man. I think his little rants reduced the effectiveness of the book. He made many prejudice remarks concerning multiculturalism and social history (gender studies, urban, economics, demographics, etc.). Since history is an accumulation of time periods and each period varies in length, and the intensity of the events, it might be tough to establish the nation s needs for clear, measurable standards for history. • 11. Value Of Sacrifice Research Paper The word sacrifice means that something is given up in order to benefit another person. Sacrifices are placed into categories based upon what is being given up in order to benefit someone else. There can be political, personal, and in this piece of literature, religious sacrifices. Therefore, I will be discussing the vital values of sacrifices established in bible stories along with when they are to be taken place. As mentioned previously, sacrifices can vary in types such as personal, political, and religious. A personal sacrifice comes from within someone such as a someone giving up a get together with friends to help their mom around the house or helping out a friend study for future exams instead of going to the movies. Next are political sacrifices which are all about political events, obviously, and it all can go from quitting your job, giving up money and joining a simple protest to raging mobs all depending on the drive of the people and their reaction to the event. The Modernism and Art Nouveau movements occurred during what was known in France as the Belle Г‰poque, or beautiful era period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Holloway employs a wide variety of found objects such as tree branches, tires, and barbed wire, but also sculptural material such as steel and paper Mache. Holloway incorporates a lot of the figural objects into his sculptures. Small crudely formed faces created with sculptamould which is a material similar to plaster, are often found in his work. Usually adhered to steel rods or peering out from the side of the boxes. Each face is painted to highlight the eyes and mouth, therefore each expresses a certain degree of personality. For the work of 58, this face motif appears repeating itself fifty eight times. The work is part of an ambitious series of one hundred total works that presents a numbered sculpture with the corresponding amount of sculptamould faces easily balanced on steel rods. Corruption had become the norm for the priest, leaders, businessmen, and common man alike. The people of these nations cared only about what they had and wanted. They would lie, cheat, steal, and even kill to get what they wanted. Their priests would only teach if they were paid. God gave the priests a position of trust and responsibility to be the caretakers of the people. They were supposed to be the shepherds, not the oppressors, of God s people. Instead, they turned their backs on God s law and began selling themselves for money, power, and approval while they hid behind the appearance of righteousness. God warned them that all of the wealth and possessions they had prostituted themselves to get would once again be used to buy other prostitutes. This statement may be confusing to some so look at what God is saying. The people of Israel sold their integrity, morals, and beliefs for pleasure, popularity, and personal gain. God is now telling them that all of these things will be taken from them and Satan will use them to lure other people into the same type of prostitution. God s warnings and accusations that are recorded in the books of the Major and Minor Prophets are not just for these ancient Kingdoms. They apply to our world today. However, this essay will start off to examine the rationale of capital mobility and labor transformation processes, as a coherent point of departure. To what extent is this approach significant? A simple answer is the sociological framework of Silver (2003), which is our central focus, is in contrast with the above approaches. Therefore, it s imperative to provide an overview of what Silver was critical about. Silver conceived that the above approaches and numerous other literatures about labor unrest and globalizationcomprise severe methodological ramifications. Although proponents of this thesis contradicts each other in abstractions, yet they agreed that the impact of the late twentieth century has led to what Zolberg (1995) calls an entire extinction of the social fabric, which sustains working class formation (cited in Silver, 2003:1). The most polemic explanation to this trend, however, is central to the impact of capital mobility and modifications of modern processes of a global capital accumulation; of which both ushered under the archetype of what Silver calls the rubric of globalization (2003). In the analysis that follows, we shall evaluate the degree to which hypermobility of productive capital is hyped in explicating contemporary labor unrest. To this extent, we can now turn to explore the effect of Multinational Corporations on existing labor unrest. It has been shown that multinational corporations did enhance a thriving global job market, yet it has unleashed a terminal effect to the traditional characteristics of working class. To this extent, global workers were not only forced into frantic competition, but their most influential instrument barging power has been diametrically devalued (2003:4). • 22. Importance Of Being A Minister Of Christ Essay Why does Richard Baxter emphasis the importance of being a minister of Christ? If there is anything that is to be the characteristic of the reformed pastor it is that his mind and life must bear the image of the servanthood of Christ. Following after Christ words, I have come not to be served but to serve others and to give my life as a ransom for many .This is why in his book, The Reformed Pastor, Baxter is eagerly encouraging those in ministry to know their called identity as under shepherds of the Great Shepherd; and therefore following the model of Jesus Christ earthly ministry as their personal template for shepherding the Lord s flock. He does this by first expounding on the meaning behind the title of his work. It is not for those of the reformed or Calvin doctrine, but for all those in ministry to continually be reforming the character of their lives. This does not mean the reforming that is called to take place is solely found in the reshaping of the mind through the doctrines of grace, though important. But it is a wholistic reviving of their life; touching every aspect of it and coating it in the the doctrines of grace; so that, to mirror and live as Christ lived, to be in His likeness. So the reforming of the Pastor is not just for a micro and personal wholistic change but also for the people of God, causing it to become a macro restyling and clothing in the doctrines of God. This switch of several simultaneously would ordinarily be highly unlikely, but due to the quantum states overlapping there is a much higher probability of this occurring [11]. It comprises the northern third of Great Britain and the 790 islands surrounding it. Despite its high latitude, Scotland s climate is actually quite temperate. Distinguished by the Highland Boundary Fault, the topography is split into two distinctive regions; the Highlands and the lowlands. The Highlands, located in the north and west of Scotland, are characterized by a more mountainous terrain that is difficult to cultivate. Traditional dishes such as haggis, mince and tatties, and arbroath smokies indicate this. Mutton, beef, and fish have been so popular in Scottish cuisine throughout time simply because they are the most readily available ingredients. Dairy products are also widely used. These are provided by the heavy grazing aspect of their agriculture industry, and their proximity to the ocean. Because of this, mutton, beef, and fish are the main sources of protein in Scotland. Also, lipids are most commonly received through the consumption of fish oil or dairy products such as milk. Products such as oats, barley, and root vegetables, mostly potatoes, are also extremely common in the Scottish diet, for the fertile lowlands and temperate climate provide perfect growing conditions for such foods. This means that carbohydrates are mostly provided by potatoes and oat and barley products such as cereal. However, in a health survey conducted in 2014, it was found that only one in five Scottish adults met the daily recommended amounts of fruits and vegetables. This suggests that while Scots are well provided with protein, lipids, and carbs, their diets may be seriously lacking in vital nutrients provided by fruits and vegetables, such as fiber, potassium, and vitamin ... In China, a dynasty was made up of Kings or emperors that came from the same family. They ruled in succession where a king could be inherited by his son or his immediate relatives. Although china s history is majorly regarded on the basis of dynastic ruling, other small kingdoms were established that ruled different part of china. For example, in 200AD, the fall of great Han dynasty triggered formation of smaller kingdoms all over the china which were later united by a short lived Sui Dynasty that reigned between 580 and 618 AD. In Murphey s book varied dynasties have been described how they came to power and how they eventually collapsed. From his book, various reasons for dynastic rise in china can be summarized as follows; most dynasties were founded through force and especially when there was disorder in a given dynasty. This could even break into a fight and those who won could take up and rule for a period of time waiting to be overthrown by other powerful people. Osteoporosis Is The Most Common Bone Disease Osteoporosis Background: Osteoporosis is the most common bone disease and is characterized by low bone mass, deterioration of bone tissue and disruption of bone architecture, compromised bone strength, and an increase in the risk of bone fracture. The World health organization (WHO) defines osteoporosis as having a bone mineral density (BMD) at the hip or the lumbar spine of less than or equal to 2.5 standard deviations below the mean BMD of a young adult reference population. Based on data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey III (NHANES III), NOF has estimated that more than 9.9 million Americans have osteoporosis and an additional 43.1 million have low bone density.2 About one out of every two Caucasian women will experience an osteoporosis related fracture at some point in her lifetime, as will approximately one in five men. The bone remodeling process consists of continually removing older bone and replacing it with new bone and plays and important role in maintaining a healthy skeleton. A decrease in bone density occurs when this balance is altered, resulting in greater bone removal than replacement. This imbalance is seen greatly with advancing age and menopause. With the onset of menopause, the rate of remodeling increases and it increases the risk of fractures. Prolia (denosumab) is a RANK ligand that is approved by the FDA in 2010.
