Ansoff Matrix on Apple
soff MatMarket Penetration: The signature product that made Apple, Apple, was the Macintosh.
It first had a famous Television Advertisement in the US in 1984 introducing its signature
product the Macintosh. This was led by Anya Major who was chased by agents of Thought
Police, threw a sledgehammer into the screen of big brother David Graham. At the end, it says,
Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you ll see why 1984 won t be like 1984. This
screen of big brother David Graham supposedly represented IBM, but the production crew says
that it is not exactly the case. This could be a really good ad because it s a very catchy
commercial, and these people were famous at this time. This would attract people to buy this
product because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apple still prevails to be really creative in terms of diversifying by adding new products into the
market. Expect them to release again a new one soon, which will be a hit because they ve already
established their name. Apple still continues to have ways in growing their company. Once upon a
time this was small time, but now it is the most valuable company in the world. Sometimes people
even use the word Apple or Mac for a computer. This just comes to show that Apple has really gone
to another level, shaping people s minds of what an ideal computer should be. Their ways of
operations, advertising, and growing have been really effective throughout the years. I would
suggest that they put up more Apple stores, because Apple products are very much in demand in
the Philippines. It s expensive to build an Apple store, but they will break even with time. especially
the colonial mentality of the Filipinos which they buy all foreign products, I believe that an Apple
store in the Philippines will be a really successful venture. Sources: All accessed on 10/14/2012

Jimmy Hoffa and Unionism
Hoffa and Unionism As an organizer for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), Jimmy
Hoffa made significant progress toward improved working conditions for truckers and was fore
mostly responsible for the rapid progression and development of the union. With over 1.5 million
members during Hoffa s tenure as president, IBT eventually became the largest single union in the
United States (International Brotherhood of Teamsters, 2012). Through interpretive reactive
analysis, topical course comparison, and personal professional experience, this paper will

Union organizers were dismissed and union meetings forbidden as indicated by Fossum (2012) who
writes that employers used security forces to police the workforce, forcibly kept out organizers, or
ferreted out internal union activists or sympathizers from the late 1800s to World War II (p. 196).
The fact that many US employers look down on, discourage, and blatantly combat unionization is
not a recent occurrence as successful organization thereof can result in decreased profits and
inflated personnel costs. Fossum (2012) argues that employers have long resisted attempts to
unionize (p. 215) and implemented various strategies to remain union free and greedily persist in
their efforts toward heightened profitability through utilization of unfair labor practices. Lawful
Strategies for Union Avoidance Although Hoffa and the Teamsters faced stark resistance from
employers concerning unionization, the resulting creation and evolution of employment legislation
has since improved working conditions and impacted the type of strategies implemented by
employers to avoid organization. Employers are taking more proactive and less historically
barbaric approaches to address employee job satisfaction and union avoidance. Godard and Delaney
(2000) argued that traditional collective bargaining agreements among unions have been replaced

Chinese Foreign Relations During The Imperial Era
Among the plethora of events which have influenced modern China s foreign policy, the so called
century of humiliation holds particular sway. Also known as the hundred years of national
humiliation , it refers to the period of intervention and imperialism by western powers and Japan in
China from 1839 to 1949. It has had a profound impact on how the decision makers in Chinahave
perceived the world order since then and has heavily influenced China s policies on a strategic,
political and military front. During the imperial period, China s relations with its neighbours and
people of other ethnic groups was heavily clouded by Sino centrism and a concept of Chinese
superiority through the tribute system (John K Fairbank). Although... Show more content on

Defeats in wars led to harsh treaties, territorial loss, repeated episodes of foreign barbarism,
waning of Chinese influence in many areas in Asia and exploitation of its rights by foreign
powers. Starting from the first Opium War, China experienced military defeats and loss of its
territory and influence in Asia. This experience made the Chinese people aware that China was
inferior to the foreign powers (1968 Lucian). China s defeat in the Sino Japanese war sent a great
tremor among the Chinese people. It was perhaps the final nail in the coffin of the century of
humiliation as Japan was always regarded as a tributary or inferior barbarian country by the
Chinese. All this led to a belief in the need of self strengthening and intensifying its military by
enriching the country and importing western technology to fit itself to the new world order with
effective diplomacy in order to maintain its national security, leverage and status. From 1860 to
1896, the Self Strengtheners tried to draw western expertise and technology to strengthen China
militarily (The legacy of the past).
This time period also led them to understand the need of allying with other countries in order to
survive. For example, memories of Japanese atrocities led to the Chinese alliance with the USSR
in 1949 and again normalizing relations with Russia in the 1980 s as Japan re emerged as a

Sterilizing Delicate And Heat-Chemical
1. Explain some of the problems involved in sterilizing delicate and heat sensitive instruments such
as endoscopes, catheters, etc. *
Although sterilizing instruments for procedures is an effective way to reduce the risk of
contamination, not all instruments are able to endure the level of heat with this process. Many
endoscopes, for example, are flexible to allow for the ease of movement in the body and are not
made of sturdy material, but delicate ones. The heat used in sterilization could potentially damage
the instrument creating a vehicle for bacteria to enter the body. Some delicate pieces could be
destroyed and manipulated and introduce bacteria during a procedure, jeopardizing the health of a
person. Catheters, especially indwelling ones, must be sterile to ensure the prevention of the
introduction of bacteria to a patient/person. Made of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Visibly soiled hands (bodily fluids, etc.) should and must be washed with soap and water to
substantially rid the hands of microbes. Studies found that hand sanitizers with an alcohol content
of 60 95% can kill germs effectively (instead of hand washing) compared to those hand sanitizers
that contain less than a 60% alcohol concentration or those without alcohol. Growth of microbes
or bacteria present on the hands may be inhibited, but will not completely rid their presence.
They may still stay on the hands and not completely wash off, like that during the process of
rinsing during hand washing where water will rinse them off the hands and into the sink. Bacteria
like Clostridium dificile or E. coli are familiar organisms present in the healthcare settings and
may not be effectively removed by hand sanitizers (those with alcohol content) alone. They may

Nasa s Space Exploration
When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not
describe it fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth
exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has
turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which
there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said
to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of
humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries
like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity... Show more

One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows
the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life
outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another
argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way.
According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of
money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet.
(9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests
depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would
allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by
humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet
so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of
our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and
that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation. (11)
This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered, but Westfahl fails to acknowledge
that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our universe and our planet. This
allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to a greater understanding of

Southern Colonies Characteristics
Southern Colonies Attributes Report
This paper is about the different characteristics of the Southern colonies for use in the plausible
war. Based upon the areas of geography and climate, resources, and political and social life, the
southern colonies will prove to be an asset to England in a possible war with France.
The geography of the southern colonies consists of deep wide rivers, the Atlantic coastal plain,
and good harbors. These will all be positive attributes due to the rivers and harbors can be used for
transportation and the Atlantic coastal plain is easy to travel on. The climate however, can be
challenging at some points. The summers are very hot and humid which could be difficult to
function in. But the winters are very mild and would be much better. Overall the geography and
climate seem fall in the middle. The geography is an asset but the climate may be an obstacle.
Natural resources of the Southern region, to state a few, are cotton, tobacco, and harbors. These
are good because since cotton and tobacco are both cash crops we can ... Show more content on

Evaluation of Abercrombie Fitch based on the United Nations Global Compact s Principles In the
year 2000, the United Nations developed an initiative to make businesses more socially
responsible. It is called the United Nations Global Compact, or U.N.G.C. for short and it has 10
principles that are categorized into 4 groups. Human rights, labor practices, the environment, and
anti corruption policies summarize the 10 principles that businesses should follow. Since its
inception 15 years ago, more than 12,000 participants from all over the world have agreed to
follow the U.N.G.C. s principles (Participants and Stakeholders). So, where does Abercrombie Fitch
fit into all of this? In order to fully evaluate the business practices of Abercrombie Fitch, or A F
for short, we need to see if they are a part of the U.N.G.C. initiative, and what Abercrombie and
Fitch says they are doing versus what they actually are doing. After pointing out issues with
Abercrombie and Fitch s practices for the last 15 years, it s also important to look at the effect these
practices are having on the company s bottom line. Out the 12,000 participants that have joined the
U.N.G.C., more than 8000 of them are business (Participants and Stakeholders). Abercrombie and
Fitch is not one of them. Does this mean that Abercrombie and Fitch does not care about human

Cheer Captain Essay
Cheer Captain Essay

To be a cheer captain, there are many responsibilities and priorities. To be a captain you have to
be strong and not afraid to try new things. You need to have a great positive attitude the whole
time and not let the drama start on the team. You have to make sure your team is ready for
games and practices and make sure everyone knows what they are doing and if not to take it
slowly until they get it. Being a captain is a lot of responsibilities but it s an amazing opportunity.
I think I am fit to be the captain, because I can bring all these priorities or tasks in with me. I know
not to let my feelings drag the team down and I know that you always have to keep a smile on your

I know people s strengths and weaknesses, I also know how certain people work to with each
other and I understand that some people may not work well with others but I will try my hardest
to make sure nothing bad happens to the team and the people that make up the team, I will work
on everyone getting along with each other. To some people, leadership means to lead a group of
people but in cheerleading, and to me, it is so much more. In the community, on the sidelines, and
even in school, you are representing the team and the school you cheer for along with your
reputation. You have to work the hardest, encourage your team, always keep the smile going and
stay positive. Even at or not at practice or a sporting event you have to think of the team and how
your actions will rely on the team and affect the team, everyone relies on the leader. Being a
cheerleader to me isn t just about cheering on the football or basketball team. Cheerleading is more
than that. Cheerleading is a group of girls who have the passion and the trust with each other to
catch them and trust that they will do their part. Cheerleading are being a family and not being
able to have your own space. Priorities of cheerleading are; making your toes pointed, having a
good attitude, making great facial expressions, and having those little girls that look up to you,
have a great role model. These are just some reasons why I love to

The Movement For Higher Education

Abstract
New programs, courses, experiences and changing requirements for the development of new skills
pave the way for different opportunities for students to prepare for initial and continuing practice
in a rapidly changing society (Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 36). As a nurse there are so many great
opportunities. You can become a nurse by enrolling in different types of programs. Those
available programs today include diploma, associates, or bachelor s degree. The most popular
form is to attain an associate s degree. AND programs were so successful that they became the new

52).
The Movement for Higher Education in Nursing
Nurses in today s society should be required to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) as
the minimal degree required to practice as a registered nurse. A baccalaureates degree provides
great outcomes for both the patient and the nurse. While in that type of nursing program the
nurse will be able to gain more expertise. These programs provide the nursing student greater
depth in learning about the multiple disease processes that can be encountered with patients.
BSN programs focus more emphasis on the family and community and health promotion and
illness and prevention; a large part of clinical experience is in diverse community settings
(Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 52). Upon obtaining the BSN you will be able to further your education if
you decide you would like to specialize in a certain area. Most specialty areas require the BSN
degree for practice and as preparation for specialty certification. Admission into master programs
usually requires a BSN or other degree (Cherry Jacob, 2014, p. 52).
Choosing to Become a Nurse
Because of the multitude of changes, registered nurses need strong critical thinking skills that
enable them to change old and incorporate new care practices, as well as the ability to approach
clinical issues using multiple ways of thinking (Newton Moore, 2013, p. 154). The decision to
become a nurse for each individual varies. Some may become a nurse for the joy of

The Second Period
I finished weighing in and began to warm up. Same routine as always and soon I was up next.
Ankle bands on and ball of my foot on the line. A handshake, a whistle, and the match begins.
The first takedown came quicker in this match than it did in the last. I tied up, hand fought, and
set up my shots. The match was going my way and I wrestled smart through every scramble,
keeping the upper hand. It was the third period and I had a decent lead. I got another takedown
and turned him to his back. For a second I swear I had him pinned but the referee was not in
position to see it until my opponent was able to put a sliver of space between his shoulder and the

He was tall, the tallest wrestler in the bracket which was a problem for me since I m short and

opponents. Same game plan regardless and the match began.
In the first period I got in deep on several shots but he was able to get out of bounds and cause us
to reset in the middle of the mat. The second period began and it was my choice of position.
Usually I would choose to defer to the second period but since it was 0 0, I chose bottom position.
In the event of sudden death overtime the wrestler who scored first gets to choose whether they
want to be on top or bottom position. The first overtime would be one minute in the neutral
position and if no one scored then it would be two 30 second periods with each wrestler getting a
chance at top and bottom position. If it s still tied after that we would go to a 30 second sudden
death victory in referee s position, which is the starting position with one wrestler on top and the
other on bottom. An escape is more likely than turning and getting back points so that s why I
chose to take bottom in the second period.
I got the escape quickly and was up 1 0. Escapes were another thing I was really good at. The
wrestling club I went to, DC Elite, taught me to be an expert at takedowns and escapes. Becoming
an expert at what you re good at will improve you faster

Reflection Of Astroversions And The Value Of An Introverts
After countless years of being relegated to the back burner of society, introverts are finally getting
their moment in the spotlight. That said, misconceptions still abound and we ve yet to shake the
common admonitions to come out of our shell and step out of our comfort zone.
Introverts differ from extroverts in that we gain energy from spending time alone, rather than
through social interaction. The traits that separate us from extroverts are hardwired into our brains
it s not something we can simply change at whim.
But there s nothing wrong with being an introvert.
We don t need to be fixed we re perfectly fine just the way we are. Trying to change or be someone
we re not is a waste of energy. Besides, introverts have a lot of value to offer the world. We re
introspective, full of insight and reflection. We re self aware and observant. We re caring and loyal
friends. We focus on projects intently, think creatively, and solve problems we re excellent
employees and empathetic leaders.
It took me a long time to embrace my introversion. Like many introverts, I thought my preference
for staying in with a good book on a Friday night meant there was something wrong with me.
However, once I educated myself on introversion and its special qualities, I was able to accept
myself for who I was and better maintain my work and personal relationships.
It s not always easy moving through the world as an introvert. If you re struggling to embrace your
introverted nature, consider incorporating the following three methods of self care into your daily
life.
Practice Gratitude
When you re feeling down and someone tells you to count your blessings , it s hard not to tell
them right where to shove it. Empty platitudes rarely make us feel better in fact, they often end
up making us feel worse. That said, gratitude does have a surprisingly powerful impact when it
comes to the world of self care. Studies have shown that people who practice self care through
gratitude have fewer health issues, feel more positively about the future, are more satisfied with
their lives, and get more sleep and feel more refreshed upon waking.
Keeping a gratitude journal a daily or weekly diary of things you re grateful for

Feminism in Gibson s Neuromancer
Feminism in Gibson s Neuromancer
Regarded as the beginning of the cyberpunk movement, William Gibson s classic novel
Neuromancer, confronts the pronounced societal issues of feminism of the time. By distorting the
female traits of his characters, Gibson illustrates that gender equality is only achieved when the
female persona is able to transform away from both the desired and rejected feminist attributes
imposed by societies fixed gender roles.
Although the Cyberpunks are almost always male, Gibson s portrayal of the female character,
Molly, is quite rare and illustrates the perceptions of women during the time. Quite opposite to the

It returned, but he still couldn t read the features (Gibson 18). In the final scenes, Neuromancer
comments on Case s visual failure by saying he never saw Molly again (Gibson 271).This final
commentary is critical because it reveals that though intimate with Molly, Case is only able to
see the outline of her existence, but never expose her actual being hidden behind her lenses.
However, it is during the simstim scenes, that Case s ocular frustration becomes truly visible. In
one scene Molly was moving through a crowded street, past stalls vending discount software...
For a few frightened seconds he fought helplessly to control her body (Gibson 56). Though Case
is able to see through Molly s eyes he is still unable to control her, rather she controls him by
exposing his vulnerability as a result of only allowing only her view not what he chooses. This
represents that though forced to become the embodiment of a male, Molly is able to utilize her
female strengths to maintain control though physically sacrificed to the opposing sex. Later, Case
comments on her control by saying, he began to find the passivity of the situation irritating (Gibson
56). Cases mirrors Rivera s feeling of being threatened when in simstim scene because though
experiencing through Molly, Case is unable to suppress her mind or control her body, taking away
his masculine empowerment. In both cases, Gibson illustrates that it through the

A Brief Note On Impressionism And Post Impressionism
IWT1 Task 1
Impressionism and Post Impressionism
By WGU student
In early 19th century, the French government controlled the Academies des Beaux Arts and Salon
de Paris of paintings. The Academies were considered the ruling authority and held annual art
exhibits called salons. The salons featured works of art that conformed to their standards. In the
second half of the 19th century, Impressionism began which was a result of French artists rejecting
traditional government and their standards. In 1874, the first independent art exhibition was held.
A few of the famous artists who participated and organizing this exhibition was Claude Monet,
Berthe Morisot and Pierre Auguste Renior along with several other artists. This group of artists ...

In addition, the French government was experiencing other vast changes. For example, they
changed from absolute monarchy to an Expansionist Empire. Religious entities did not understand
the new age advancement in neither science nor the knowledge it brought to society. Besides, this
innovative scientific knowledge was not aligned with the ancient scriptures. The ultimate change
that had a profound influence on the artists of this time was the invention of photography.
Photography essentially freed painters to become more abstract with their subject matter and
enhance their artistic freedom.
On the other hand, the Post Impressionism period began around 1880 and ended approximately
1910. The first person to coin the term post impressionism was British artist and art critic, Roger
Fry. Fry played a big role in putting on the exhibition called Manet and the Post Impressionists at
Gragron Gallery in London, which lasted from November 8, 1910 to January 15, 1911 (Voorhies,
2000). Some well known artists from this period were Vincent Van Gogh
, George Seurat, and Paul
Cezanne. The post impressionist artists focused on a different style of painting to express their
emotions. Instead of just mastering optical impressions they also used symbolism while alluding to
their deeper theme.
Symbolic and highly personal meanings were particularly important to Post Impressionists such as
Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh. Rejecting interest in

common concept in which can destroy people and their relationships. Throughout William
Shakespeare s play Othello, acts of betrayal are committed among characters when Iago betrays
Othello, Othello betrays Desdemona, and finally, when Othellobetrays himself. Revenge plays a
major role as to why Shakespeare includes betrayal to form conflicts and help advance the
tragically dramatic plot. To begin, the main characters, Iagoand Othello, introduce this act of
betrayal by creating conflicts due to jealousy. Originally, the plan for revenge began when Iago
dreamed and expected to be the general Othello s lieutenant; however, Othello chose Cassio....

Desdemona respected and cherished Othello, calling him her noble lord (69). Her powerful
affection was validated when blaming herself (85) while Othello was murdering her. Still,
stubborn Othello considered her as a whore and a liar [who has] gone to burning hell (85).
Shakespeare includes this betrayal because it precisely displays an example where passion can
be broken through the influence of strongly effective characters like honest Iago (83). This
betrayal leads to one of the dominant treasons in the work as a whole: Othello abandoning
himself. Lastly, Othello betrays himself when he realizes how he relied on honest (51) Iago,

Attachment In Middle Childhood Research
Literature has proven the importance of attachment in the early years but Brumari (2015) relegated
the most important time for attachment is in the middle childhood where the child is becoming
more independent at this time it is more about the availability than proximity of the attachment
figure. The attachment figure instead of being the provider becomes the counsellor the role model

Ford Mustang And The Chevrolet Camaro
GM and Ford team up again, but there are other partnerships between automotive rivals to consider.
Who would have thunk it?! For 2017, the Ford Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro will share a 10
speed automatic transmission as a result of a collaborative engineering effort between General
Motors and the Ford Motor Company.
How s that again?
In 2013, Detroit s top rivals signed an agreement to jointly develop new 9 and 10 speed automatic
transmissions with front and rear wheel drive variants. The collaborative effort means both
companies are able to design, engineer, establish, test, corroborate and distribute new transmissions
at a faster rate and for a lower cost than they would have on their own.
Improved Performance, Better Efficiency
The effort has yielded a new 10 speed automatic transmission, one that will find its way into
various models over the next few years. That the two competing pony cars will share the same
transmission means one less important edge for both manufacturers. Instead, the two companies
will have to find other ways to beat each other with such factors as horsepower, steering and
handling, and aerodynamics providing key differences.
At the same time, buyers of both models will enjoy two important benefits 10 speed transmissions
provide better off the line acceleration with a shorter first gear and improved fuel economy with
the taller top gears. (Jim, see the Popular Mechanics explanation) Incidentally, the 10 speed will be

Solon Vs Solon
What is the underlying mechanism that causes the downfall of leaders and the collapse of
societies? A superstitious individual could attribute these transitions to the gods. Solon, ancient
Athenian poet and political philosopher, would disagree with this sentiment and argue that it is
men themselves who cause their own destruction. Often, the unwillingness of rulers to hear and
understand the potential dangers of their greed and selfishness starts this process. To ascertain
the best possible choice, one must look to the future. What are the plausible outcomes and
pitfalls of one s decisions? A failure to consider this question and a lack of foresight is where
many go wrong. In both Herodotus representation of Solon and in his own poetry, Solon is a
wise man who devotes his entire life to his objectives and warns foolish leaders of their
irresponsibility. He offers a political ideology about the rise and fall of powerful men and great
empires. This can be briefly summarized by Herodotus when he says human prosperity never
abides long in the same place (Herodotus 1.5.3 4). However, the representations of Solon are in
some ways different. For example, the Herodotean version uses anecdotes to teach moral lessons,
while the lyric Solon explicitly lays out his grievances against the Athenian oligarchy and proposes
ways to reform Athens. Solon s reformations brought Athens out of an age of treachery and
lawlessness rife with dishonest, unjust and essentially criminal rulers. He

Essay on September 11 and America’s Careless Diplomacy
For the past century, Americans have viewed the United States as standing as a symbol of strength,
freedom, and prosperity. Recently, however, this perceived symbol of a higher society has been
directly attacked by those who strongly disagree with the values projected by the United States.
This is the first timesince the Cold War that the stance of America has even been questioned. The
most deliberating issue resulting from this atrocity has been how America shouldretaliate, or if the
US should even retaliate at all. Within the past few weeks this question has been answered by
actions from Washington. This action, however, has caused the emergence of even more questions.

Osama bin Laden and his supporters have claimed their hostility toward the West is partly a result
of the United States past support and involvement with Israel. U.S. involvement began during the
conflict between Egypt and Israel, Great Britain, and France when their diplomatic intervention
persuaded the countries to withdraw. The United States, however, continually supported Israel by
aiding them financially and militarily. Israel proceeded to engage in the Six Day War of 1967,
which caused the oil producing Arab States to issue a 15 percent reduction of oil production and
an embargo of shipments to the United States. The October War soon broke out in 1973, and the
same countries issued yet another reduction, this time a 25 percent reduction, causing the United
Nations to call a cease fire. The Arab nations and Israel both refused direct diplomatic relations
with one another, solidifying their conflictual positions. American administrations however
became intent on breaking the diplomatic barriers between the two groups. This brought the Arab
nations and Israel into the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. Large
advances in the acclimation of peace were facilitated by America s Henry Kissinger in 1973. The
Camp David Accords were drafted, facilitated by U.S. President Jimmy Carter, and Israel and

Scott Sanders Staying Put Analysis
Scott Russell Sanders s Staying Put: Making a Home in a Restless World counters the
orthodoxy of a nation rooted in ideas. In response to an essay by Salman Rushdie, a migrant of
his native India, Sanders articulates the ceaseless nomadic thinking of Americans as a romantic,
heedless migration reaping no bounty. Sanders s writing challenges the American fanaticism of
migration wherein uprooting brings intolerance and thereby not only responds to a text but
creates literary value himself.
A definitive facet of Sanders s writing is his series, often paired with repeating
adjectives, pronouns, conjunctions, and prepositions. This combination of repetition and listing
creates a rhythm when addressing Rushdie s opposing philosophy: ... Show more content on

The Bolsheviks and the Tragedy of the October Revolution
The majority of the people are with us. The majority of the working and oppressed people all over
the world are with us. Ours is the cause of justice. Our victory is assured. 1
October was a classic coup d Г©tat, the capture of governmental power by a small minority, carried
out without mass engagement. 2
The October Revolution was perhaps the most momentous event of the twentieth century. It led to
the creation of the Soviet Union, the first avowedly Communist nation in history, which was to
become a global superpower, an inspiration to many, an object of the hatred of many more. Possibly
more important was the role the memory of the October Revolution played in the ... Show more

The October Revolution was interpreted quite differently by those hostile to the Communist
leaders of the Soviet Union. In their top down histories of the Russian Revolution the common
people appeared as the passive objects of the evil machinations of the Bolsheviks. 4 The
Bolsheviks cynically adopted populist and anarchist slogans in order to recruit the masses as foot
soldiers in their own quest for power. If any apparent support for the October Revolution was seen
among the masses, it was the product of ignorance, skilled propaganda and a supple improvisation
by the Bolsheviks themselves, who transformed their elite operation into a temporary mass
organization 5 to seduce the Russian masses. The socialist reality of October was imaginary, and
the Revolution itself was an amateur police operation masked with expert propaganda to give an
appearance of proletarian legitimacy 6
Both of these interpretations are heavily politicized. The former s purpose was to establish the
legitimacy of the Soviet Union as the genuine embodiment of the will of the Russian Proletariat, the
authentic People s State. The latter was meant to strip the USSR of that legitimacy and expose the
oppressive and unpopular dictatorship that ruled the country with an iron fist. As is not uncommon
in such situations, both of these interpretations

Unequal Pay Among Women
In the status quo, it is estimated that eighteen million women are left to live in poverty. (NWLC,
2014). This leads to women struggling to make ends meet. It s important to raise awareness for
those whose voices have been silenced due to their lower status in society as they cannot be heard
on their own. Many people tend to believe that both genders are equally exposed at the risk of
poverty. However, it is statistically proven that women have higher poverty rates due to unequal
pay rates, low paying occupations, a rise in divorcerates, and a growing number of single mothers
from unplanned pregnancies. Worldwide, women are likely to have unjust pay rates which is a
significant reason for poverty among women. According to the Institute for Women s Policy
Research, women receive 80 cents for every dollar a man receives. (IWPR, 2015). Not only does
the difference in pay rates result in women receiving lower salaries than men, but it results in
women having to rationalize the low amount of money that they do receive. It is difficult to live
in a world where resources are costly with a low salary. According to the United Nations
Statistics Division, ...consistent with other studies, men s average salary was higher than women
s average salary. (Barry A. Gerhart, 2015). This informs us of one of the reasons as to why
women have a higher poverty rate. The unequal pay has been a strong issue debated in current
society by many people. However, there has yet to be a solution to a

Do you think the United States is currently an imperialist country? Why or why not? No I do not
think the United States is an imperialist Country. We do not try or even want to take over any
other countries. We want to buy their products instead, and sell our products to them. Also when
the United States attacks another country it is out of defense, we only support wars that are in self
defense. During WWI we took no possessions as our own, and prevented others from doing this.
During WWII we helped to rebuild Japan and Germany instead of taking control, and returned full

The Importance Of The Railway In Canada
Canada is a great country but it wouldn t be the same without the Trans Canada Railway. The great
achievement of this railway helped form and unite this great country in many ways. These are some
of the reasons why I think the CPR helped in forming a strong, united Canada.
Confederation on July 1, 1867, brought together the Eastern Colonies of Canada, but as a country,
Canada was interested also in making a connection with the West Coast Colonies. One of the
ways this was accomplished was by promising to build a railway from coast to coast. The
province of Manitoba was convinced to join confederation by 1870, and British Columbia joined in
1871, but only when the Canadian government promised to build the railway within ten years.
Unfortunately, that government was unable to follow through with it s promise and true
construction only began in 1881 and finally completed in 1885. The first train ran in 1886 from
Montreal to Port Moody. The CPR was an important way to connect the large country of Canada.

communities on the coast, such as Oregon and California and may have eventually chosen to ...

company also ended up finding natural gas in Alberta when they were digging a well to find water
for their steam engines. In this way, the CPR ended up being more than a railway company but got
involved in transporting goods in different ways such as steamships and

born with a larger than normal body a condition called macrosomia which can make delivery

Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Functional cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a
diagnostic imaging modality that uses magnetic resonance imaging to assess cardiac function (5).
Cine studies can reconstruct images across several phases of the cardiac cycle. This method of
MRI can measure left ventricular volume, ejection fraction, myocardial contraction, and strain rate
(10). MRI has the ability to provide information on left ventricular function as well as regional
profusion simultaneously (11). The new MRI techniques can also evaluate angiogenesis and
myocardial viability. This has proven to be a valuable tool in diagnosing many heartconditions such

MRI does not expose the patient to radiopharmaceuticals, which gives cardiac MRI an advantage
over nuclear medicine (13). MRI also has better resolution than nuclear medicine. The excellent
contrast resolution of MRI produces a well defined endocardial border (7). MRI does not have the
problem of limited acoustic windows that sometimes inhibits echocardiographic imaging. Although
MRI is a reliable modality for cardiac imaging, there are some limitations to consider with this
modality. MRI is contraindicated for patients implanted devices such as pacemakers or
defibrillators. As with MUGA and SPECT studies, cardiac MRI is not as accurate in patients with
cardiac arrhythmias. When calculating ejection fraction with MRI, it is necessary for the patient

Progressivism During The Progressive Era
The Progressive Movement sought to impose significant restrictions on capitalism in the interests
of democracy. These Progressive ideals were later continued during the New Deal. Progressivism
was primarily a midde class movement and thus sought to reform capitalism and end some of its
worst excesses in order to preserve traditional representative democracy. During the late nineteenth
century, monopolies were identified as an example of capitalist excess that not only threated
economic stability but also the principles of democracy itself as these monopolies were able to
influence politics to their benefit. Thus, Progressives helped to push through trust busting statutes
such as the Sherman Act, Clayton Act, and the Federal Trade Commission Act which restricted the

humiliation for young people across America. Not to mention the cost of registration fair for the
true pedophile but not for the young person lacking a job or real place to call home. Our laws seem
to have taken away the true threat to society, the grown adult that actually has sexual intercourse
with children, the true predator. They are the true offenders and our young people are being
grouped in with them and in many cases forcing our teenagers to live with them at times,
consequently causing more emotional harm than has already been inflicted upon them.

How does social networking affect teens? Social Networking is the use of dedicated websites and
applications to interact with other or to find people with similar interests . Social networking
consists of various social media websites such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. These social
media applications have become increasingly popular amongst teens. The web s social network has
grown to be one of the largest and most influential outlet on the internet. Social media have both a
positive and negative affect on how teens interact on day to day basis. Social networking has given
teens an opportunity to communicate with others, express themselves, and establish a political
stand on the government. However, some negative effects... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Political figures are able to reach out to the youth for support. In India back in 2009, they
opened the first online registration and campaigns. This was the first step taken for politicians
to connect with a younger generation to gain support during the campaign in India. Thus,
making elections more accessible for younger audiences through many social sites. (8) Social
networking has modernized today s culture and lifestyle among teenagers. It has sparked the rise
of mass communication globally. A study was shown in India that 63 cent of people spend time
on Facebook and around 48% spend around 2 3 hours on social sites. Social media sites such as
Snapchat, instagram, and facebook main objective is to allow people to become socially active
with friends and family. Countries around the world have been experienced the effect of
modernization within their society, due to social networking. Youth are able to create long
lasting friendships while communicating on social sites. Also, social networking allows students
to engage in academics and collaborate with classmates on projects. It is considered the source
for new knowledge , teenagers are able to receive the newest information and news with the touch
of a button. (5) The Unites States is look as a consumer country and social media has impacted
the lifestyle who live in it. It is known that 78% of the US population owes some sort of social
media account . This causes

The Perception Of A Social Group
The ability to manipulate perception when it comes to social movements or collective action is
key. Not just for those on the outside looking in, but those who are participating as well. It not
only determines what a social group will do to invoke change, it will also affect how a society
will agree or disagree with the change. This manipulation of perception is best defined as
framing, and is more than just labeling something as good or bad. Pulling from the articles read
from this week the most convincing conceptualization of the term framing was the argument that
it consisted of three elements, with the first being the diagnosis of something as problematic and
need for alteration, followed by a proposed solution that specifies what needs to be done, and
finally a call to rational engagement in corrective action. (Snow Benford 1988) The first point
highlighted the importance of contention when it comes to collective action. Problems within any
given society are prevalent at all times, however, not until there is a call for a change does
collective action occur. Contention rests in the need for a change, whether or not opportunity is
the catalyst for contention is debatable, however the conceptualizing of framing laid out by Snow
and Benford also brings into question whether or not collective action is a choice rather than a
response. In the each of the three steps mentioned above there has to be a framing. There has to be
a framing of a situation as problematic and

Creon Antigone Analysis
In Antigone, Creon s mind is pulled in two opposite directions: His hubris, and, in contrast, his
human duty to the gods. His decision to not follow the gods decrees and the consequences of that
decision are used by Sophocles to remind the audience to stand with the gods.
Creon, the King of Thebes, produced a law in lines 222 228 that a man named Polynices could
not be buried, a law that he knew was in direct opposition to a law of the gods. When Antigone
tried to follow the gods law by burying Polynices, Creon had her locked up. Creon would have
known the laws of the gods, being Grecian perhaps even better than most, being an educated man
however, he made the law anyway. Sophoclesexample through Creon gives the audience an
example of deliberate disobedience and how easy it is to affront the gods, even if it seems like the
honorable thing to do. And Creon did think this; because Polynices was a traitor, Creon was
opposed to honoring him with burial, so inducting the law that he could not be into society. Nobility
notwithstanding, this law was against the gods. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Creon instructs Tiresius (1152 1158) that not even the gods could stop his resolve to lock up
Antigone and leave Polynices corpse exposed. However, when his son, Haemon (1296), as well
as his wife, Eurydice (1412 1414), kill themselves because of Creon s decisions, he has a complete
reversal in attitude. Despite the attempt to right his wrongs (1235 1239), admitting that he could
not best or control the gods, Creon received punishments, his crimes against the gods too great.
Sophocles exaggerates the everyday occurrence of going against the gods to the audience sin order
for them to learn from Creon s example, telling them that the consequences will always find

Benefits Of Drones Research Paper
Kongslie
Drones overall will be more impactful than I think people will recognize, in positive ways to
help society. (Bill Gates). I like this quote because some people don t see drones benefits. The
technical name of a drone is unmanned aerial vehicle, or UAV for short. Abraham Karem was
the person who came up with the idea for the reaper, the drones purpose was for fighting wars
oversea and keeping civilians safe(Lawrence 2). Some type of drones is the reaper, predator,
quadcopter, delivery drones, and photography drones. The reaper and predator both serve for the
military and is used in wars to be for surveillance or striking the target with weapons. The
quadcopter is a personal recreational drone. Delivery drones is something that Amazon uses to
deliver packages to their customers. Photography drones can be used for filmmakers and can take
pictures from the sky. Drones have become controversial because people don t know how to use
them correctly. The benefits of using unmanned aerial vehicles in the military is their inexpensive

Different Techniques Used Wide band phased array antenna is implemented to scan in the range of

improving directivity. Two radiation beams off broadside are obtained by operating the patch
antenna at the higher order mode instead of the fundamental mode, which radiates a broadside
beam. Broadening the antenna bandwidth is achieved by using the U slot technique. Micro strip
antennas have been widely used in modern communication systems, because of its robustness,
planar profile, and low cost. Most of these antennas operate at their fundamental mode, which
gives a broadside beam. Micro strip antenna operating at the higher order mode has dual
symmetric radiation beams [2]. It is well known that the major drawback of a micro strip antenna
is its narrow bandwidth (3%). One of the popular techniques for broadening the patch antenna
bandwidth is to incorporate a U slot on its surface as proposed [5].

City of God Review
October 10, 2010 St. Augustine s work, The City of God, portrays the Roman virtue and describes it
s affect on the manners of the Romans. Though the people did not worship God, St. Augustine
points out that God still blessed them by increasing their dominion. In this text, Augustine finds
many aspects of the ethos Roman Empireboth admirable and problematic. He does this in a way
that gives the reader a better understanding on his views of how to live a life dedicated to God.
He also shows the problems of living for other men rather than living for the righteousness of God.
Augustine speaks of the manners of the ancient Romans, and shows in what sense it was due to the
virtue of the Romans themselves, and in how far to the counsel of... Show more content on

This shows the greatness with being pure in all ways and waiting for the good things in life and
not being greedy. I really think this is Augustine way to show respect towards the pure and
admire what they have done for God. In To What Profit the Romans Carried on Wars, and How
Much They Contributed to the Well Being of Those Whom They Conquered, Augustine wrote
that humans, because mortal and are only on earth for so long, shouldn t be concerned over
whose government a dying man lives, if they who govern do not force him to impiety and
iniquity? The Romans tried to impose laws and regulations on nations they took over but they
themselves did not live by these. If everyone was under the Roman Empire, than everyone in that
empire should have the same privileges and rights. It does no good, according to Augustine, to do
this. Take away outward show, and what are all men after all but men? But even though the
perversity of the age should permit that all the better men should be more highly honored than
others, neither thus should human honor be held at a great price, for it is smoke which has no
weight. Men that may not seem as if they have accomplished much greatness in the eyes of other

Research Paper On Seashells
Walking along the Florida coastline, I find myself not only travelling across space, but across
time. I look down at the dozens of seashells some small, some large, striped, dotted, blue, pink,
grey; these seashells have been around the world. Just like people, these shells started off in one
place, familiar and comfortable, and ended up somewhere new, ready for someone to pick them
up and appreciate the grooves of the journey. Each seashell has taken a wild journey to get to this
coastline, to be at my feet. Each seashell s journey is unique to itself, just like each person has a

There are 18 variety of different kinds of properties using eggshell in real life. Eggshell is
usually used by four major section in daily life. First of all, the common way of using eggshell is
agriculture such as feeding it to chicken and the wild bird, giving plants a calcium boost, tossing
it in the compost pile. In the second place, the eggshells are utilized in medical part such as tooth
re mineralizing, using the shell s membrane as an all natural bandage, canine diarrhea remedy.
The third, the usage of the eggshells is for a human. For example, people usually use it to make
calcium power for intake in daily and your coffee for making the smooth flavor. And also some
people use it cleaning clothes for stain remover Lastly, charismas ornaments and sidewalk chalk
are made from eggshell by people. For these reasons, I figured out a chemical formula for the
eggshell. Eggshell is made up of 95% calcium carbonate and 5% calcium phosphate with
magnesium carbonate.
The formula CACO3 is very common in natural such as limestone cave, animal s bones. Normally,
the cement production and agriculture have deployed this component. The formula CACO3 is
utilized to enforce the strength of cement in the company. Increasing the strength is one of a good
property of eggshell. The other one is raising a plant and garden. Most fertilizer companies

Augusten Burroughs s Running With Scissors
A Life of Running All writers have a story to tell about themselves. This story consists of their past,
and the sort of events that occured to get them to where they are today. In his memoir Running With
Scissors, Augusten Burroughs tells the story of his rough upbringing and unusual teenage years,
and how it leads to his writingcareer. Burroughs lives his childhood amidst his constantly arguing,
dysfunctional parents. To distract himself from this, he develops an obsession with organization
and shininess. He dreams to become a doctor, or a television actor playing a doctor, and to live in
a world filled with crisp, white jackets. He even intentionally injures himself in order to go to the
doctor s office and experience this world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

accustomed to this sporadic way of life, even though part of him wishes that he could just be
normal.
In addition, Burroughs becomes involved in an intense homosexual relationship with the Finches
older adopted son, Neil Bookman. The Finch family does not mind, and this continues for years.
Bookman develops an obsession over Burroughs, who enjoys maintaining power over the older
man. However, Bookman eventually runs away one night, and is never heard from again.
Natalie, one of the Finch daughters who is close to Burrough s age, eventually becomes his best
friend. They get involved in all sorts of antics together, and explore the world around them. When
they turn eighteen, they leave the Finch house and attempt to start a new life of their own.
Burrough s dreams of becoming a doctor change to ones of becoming a hairstylist and creating a
beauty empire, and then back to a doctor as he enrolls as a pre med in community college.

darkness to a safe and sane futureВЁ John F. Kennedy. John F. Kennedy was born on May 27th
1917. He became the 35th president of the united states in January 1961. The JFK assassination
shocked the world and left many pieces to an uncompleted puzzle behind it.
First things first, The JFK assassination impacted the nation for some period of time. The JFK
assassination was in Dallas November 22th, 1963 and was considered the crime of the century
(Warren commission). Next, The gunman Lee Harvey Oswald was also hired to kill officer Tippit

intelligence officer that he overheard someone at a bar bet 100$ on Kennedy s death (Sara Putt).
An ex CIA officer believes the white house and the agency are actually concealing the most
important documents (Sarah Putt). The evidence suggests Oswald could have been part of a
conspiracy, but the theory has not yet been proven. The second theory is proven by the evidence
presented by Sarah Putt which gives a strong case and gives theorists a difficult challenge.
Lastly, even though JFK s death was tragic the puzzle left behind, it is one filled with twists and
turns. The 1st theory shows how the assassination could have been revenge for Fidel Castro. The
2nd theory gives evidence that could suggest that Oswald could have been part of a much larger
conspiracy. The assassination of John F. Kennedywas a tragedy that set the nation in a period of
grief and shocked the world. These are just two theories how many could there be? Maybe the

Long-Term Consequences of Childhood Exposure to Domestic...
Long Term Consequences of Childhood Exposure to Domestic Violence
Abstract:
Domestic violence effects everybody in a family. Patterns of abuse from one parent to another,
between both parents or directed toward a child all have a composite effect of inflicting potentially
severe emotional damage upon the child. The research outlined here identifies domestic violence as
a serious sociological problem and consequently provides a usable definition of domestic violence
for the present study. This is followed by a discussion on the various psychological consequences
of exposure to domestic violence for a developing child. This includes acknowledgement of the
manner in which this exposure may damage the ability to formulate healthy social relationships
later in life as well as a greater proclivity toward behavior problems, learning difficulties, substance
abuse and a learned pattern of violent tendencies.
Outline:
Introduction:
Problem Identification: Domestic violence is a widespread sociological problem wherein women
and children are most often the victims. The problem is compounded by the fact that so much
domestic violence goes under reported
Support: According to an article by Hannah (1998), sparse data exists on the number of domestic
violence cases that arrive in the criminal justice system and what happens to them once they get
there. (44) The federal government and a majority of the states collect statistics on domestic
violence, but there are wide variations in

Chris McCandless is NOT a Hero in the Book, Into the Wild...
Many people have read the story Into the Wild By Jon Krakauer, when mentioning the name
Chris McCandless he is either viewed as hero or as a dumb man. The people who view him as a
hero tend to believe that he was determined enough to want to do something. Others view him as an
idiot who just wanted attention. Him being unprepared and not knowing much about how to
survive in the wild made McCandless an idiot, the dumb jerk. Also causing him to be a poor role
model to multiple people causing them to end up in dangerous situations that could be threatening
to their lives.
Having the right supplies for hiking or in Chris s case going out to live in the wild is critical.
Chris was lacking in this category. When Chris was found a few weeks later in the woods it was
evident that he didn t have the food supply he needed to survive. Matthew Power from Men s
Journal The Magazine, brings up the point that Chris only brought a few things with him,
Setting off with little more than a twenty two caliber rifle and a ten pound bag of rice,
McCandless hoped to find his true self by renouncing society and living off the land. Chris later
proved that even if you intend to live off the land if you are not used to it and living that way it is
going to be extremely hard and may even result in death.
Chris was on a death mission weather he realized it or not. He went into the wild and is now causing
people to unintentionally cause self harm to themselves. Peter Christian added, Some like

  • 2. Ansoff Matrix on Apple soff MatMarket Penetration: The signature product that made Apple, Apple, was the Macintosh. It first had a famous Television Advertisement in the US in 1984 introducing its signature product the Macintosh. This was led by Anya Major who was chased by agents of Thought Police, threw a sledgehammer into the screen of big brother David Graham. At the end, it says, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you ll see why 1984 won t be like 1984. This screen of big brother David Graham supposedly represented IBM, but the production crew says that it is not exactly the case. This could be a really good ad because it s a very catchy commercial, and these people were famous at this time. This would attract people to buy this product because... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple still prevails to be really creative in terms of diversifying by adding new products into the market. Expect them to release again a new one soon, which will be a hit because they ve already established their name. Apple still continues to have ways in growing their company. Once upon a time this was small time, but now it is the most valuable company in the world. Sometimes people even use the word Apple or Mac for a computer. This just comes to show that Apple has really gone to another level, shaping people s minds of what an ideal computer should be. Their ways of operations, advertising, and growing have been really effective throughout the years. I would suggest that they put up more Apple stores, because Apple products are very much in demand in the Philippines. It s expensive to build an Apple store, but they will break even with time. especially the colonial mentality of the Filipinos which they buy all foreign products, I believe that an Apple store in the Philippines will be a really successful venture. • 3. Jimmy Hoffa and Unionism Hoffa and Unionism As an organizer for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), Jimmy Hoffa made significant progress toward improved working conditions for truckers and was fore mostly responsible for the rapid progression and development of the union. With over 1.5 million members during Hoffa s tenure as president, IBT eventually became the largest single union in the United States (International Brotherhood of Teamsters, 2012). Through interpretive reactive analysis, topical course comparison, and personal professional experience, this paper will summarize the movie Hoffa and discuss the variance of organizational necessity of the IBT and Hoffa within the context of historical and present day working conditions and the... Union organizers were dismissed and union meetings forbidden as indicated by Fossum (2012) who writes that employers used security forces to police the workforce, forcibly kept out organizers, or ferreted out internal union activists or sympathizers from the late 1800s to World War II (p. 196). The fact that many US employers look down on, discourage, and blatantly combat unionization is not a recent occurrence as successful organization thereof can result in decreased profits and inflated personnel costs. Fossum (2012) argues that employers have long resisted attempts to unionize (p. 215) and implemented various strategies to remain union free and greedily persist in their efforts toward heightened profitability through utilization of unfair labor practices. Lawful Strategies for Union Avoidance Although Hoffa and the Teamsters faced stark resistance from employers concerning unionization, the resulting creation and evolution of employment legislation has since improved working conditions and impacted the type of strategies implemented by employers to avoid organization. Employers are taking more proactive and less historically barbaric approaches to address employee job satisfaction and union avoidance. Godard and Delaney (2000) argued that traditional collective bargaining agreements among unions have been replaced with innovative high performance work and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Chinese Foreign Relations During The Imperial Era Among the plethora of events which have influenced modern China s foreign policy, the so called century of humiliation holds particular sway. Also known as the hundred years of national humiliation , it refers to the period of intervention and imperialism by western powers and Japan in China from 1839 to 1949. It has had a profound impact on how the decision makers in Chinahave perceived the world order since then and has heavily influenced China s policies on a strategic, political and military front. During the imperial period, China s relations with its neighbours and people of other ethnic groups was heavily clouded by Sino centrism and a concept of Chinese superiority through the tribute system (John K Fairbank). Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Defeats in wars led to harsh treaties, territorial loss, repeated episodes of foreign barbarism, waning of Chinese influence in many areas in Asia and exploitation of its rights by foreign powers. Starting from the first Opium War, China experienced military defeats and loss of its territory and influence in Asia. This experience made the Chinese people aware that China was inferior to the foreign powers (1968 Lucian). China s defeat in the Sino Japanese war sent a great tremor among the Chinese people. It was perhaps the final nail in the coffin of the century of humiliation as Japan was always regarded as a tributary or inferior barbarian country by the Chinese. All this led to a belief in the need of self strengthening and intensifying its military by enriching the country and importing western technology to fit itself to the new world order with effective diplomacy in order to maintain its national security, leverage and status. From 1860 to 1896, the Self Strengtheners tried to draw western expertise and technology to strengthen China militarily (The legacy of the past). This time period also led them to understand the need of allying with other countries in order to survive. For example, memories of Japanese atrocities led to the Chinese alliance with the USSR in 1949 and again normalizing relations with Russia in the 1980 s as Japan re emerged as a ... Explain some of the problems involved in sterilizing delicate and heat sensitive instruments such as endoscopes, catheters, etc. * Although sterilizing instruments for procedures is an effective way to reduce the risk of contamination, not all instruments are able to endure the level of heat with this process. Many endoscopes, for example, are flexible to allow for the ease of movement in the body and are not made of sturdy material, but delicate ones. The heat used in sterilization could potentially damage the instrument creating a vehicle for bacteria to enter the body. Some delicate pieces could be destroyed and manipulated and introduce bacteria during a procedure, jeopardizing the health of a person. • 8. Nasa s Space Exploration When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not describe it fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. (9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation. (11) This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered, but Westfahl fails to acknowledge that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our universe and our planet. This allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to a greater understanding of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Based upon the areas of geography and climate, resources, and political and social life, the southern colonies will prove to be an asset to England in a possible war with France. The geography of the southern colonies consists of deep wide rivers, the Atlantic coastal plain, and good harbors. These will all be positive attributes due to the rivers and harbors can be used for transportation and the Atlantic coastal plain is easy to travel on. The climate however, can be challenging at some points. The summers are very hot and humid which could be difficult to function in. But the winters are very mild and would be much better. Overall the geography and climate seem fall in the middle. The geography is an asset but the climate may be an obstacle. Alessio Kurti Professor Mike VanHemert BA 400 27 March 2015 Evaluation of Abercrombie Fitch based on the United Nations Global Compact s Principles In the year 2000, the United Nations developed an initiative to make businesses more socially responsible. It is called the United Nations Global Compact, or U.N.G.C. for short and it has 10 principles that are categorized into 4 groups. Human rights, labor practices, the environment, and anti corruption policies summarize the 10 principles that businesses should follow. Since its inception 15 years ago, more than 12,000 participants from all over the world have agreed to follow the U.N.G.C. s principles (Participants and Stakeholders). So, where does Abercrombie Fitch fit into all of this? In order to fully evaluate the business practices of Abercrombie Fitch, or A F for short, we need to see if they are a part of the U.N.G.C. initiative, and what Abercrombie and Fitch says they are doing versus what they actually are doing. After pointing out issues with Abercrombie and Fitch s practices for the last 15 years, it s also important to look at the effect these practices are having on the company s bottom line. Out the 12,000 participants that have joined the U.N.G.C., more than 8000 of them are business (Participants and Stakeholders). Abercrombie and Fitch is not one of them. Even at or not at practice or a sporting event you have to think of the team and how your actions will rely on the team and affect the team, everyone relies on the leader. Being a cheerleader to me isn t just about cheering on the football or basketball team. Cheerleading is more than that. Cheerleading is a group of girls who have the passion and the trust with each other to catch them and trust that they will do their part. Cheerleading are being a family and not being able to have your own space. • 15. Reflection Of Astroversions And The Value Of An Introverts After countless years of being relegated to the back burner of society, introverts are finally getting their moment in the spotlight. That said, misconceptions still abound and we ve yet to shake the common admonitions to come out of our shell and step out of our comfort zone. Introverts differ from extroverts in that we gain energy from spending time alone, rather than through social interaction. The traits that separate us from extroverts are hardwired into our brains it s not something we can simply change at whim. But there s nothing wrong with being an introvert. We don t need to be fixed we re perfectly fine just the way we are. Trying to change or be someone we re not is a waste of energy. Besides, introverts have a lot of value to offer the world. We re introspective, full of insight and reflection. We re self aware and observant. We re caring and loyal friends. We focus on projects intently, think creatively, and solve problems we re excellent employees and empathetic leaders. It took me a long time to embrace my introversion. Like many introverts, I thought my preference for staying in with a good book on a Friday night meant there was something wrong with me. However, once I educated myself on introversion and its special qualities, I was able to accept myself for who I was and better maintain my work and personal relationships. It s not always easy moving through the world as an introvert. If you re struggling to embrace your introverted nature, consider incorporating the following three methods of self care into your daily life. Practice Gratitude When you re feeling down and someone tells you to count your blessings , it s hard not to tell them right where to shove it. Empty platitudes rarely make us feel better in fact, they often end up making us feel worse. That said, gratitude does have a surprisingly powerful impact when it comes to the world of self care. Studies have shown that people who practice self care through gratitude have fewer health issues, feel more positively about the future, are more satisfied with their lives, and get more sleep and feel more refreshed upon waking. In the second half of the 19th century, Impressionism began which was a result of French artists rejecting traditional government and their standards. Religious entities did not understand the new age advancement in neither science nor the knowledge it brought to society. Besides, this innovative scientific knowledge was not aligned with the ancient scriptures. The ultimate change that had a profound influence on the artists of this time was the invention of photography. Photography essentially freed painters to become more abstract with their subject matter and enhance their artistic freedom. On the other hand, the Post Impressionism period began around 1880 and ended approximately 1910. The first person to coin the term post impressionism was British artist and art critic, Roger Fry. Fry played a big role in putting on the exhibition called Manet and the Post Impressionists at Gragron Gallery in London, which lasted from November 8, 1910 to January 15, 1911 (Voorhies, 2000). Solon, ancient Athenian poet and political philosopher, would disagree with this sentiment and argue that it is men themselves who cause their own destruction. Often, the unwillingness of rulers to hear and understand the potential dangers of their greed and selfishness starts this process. To ascertain the best possible choice, one must look to the future. What are the plausible outcomes and pitfalls of one s decisions? A failure to consider this question and a lack of foresight is where many go wrong. In both Herodotus representation of Solon and in his own poetry, Solon is a wise man who devotes his entire life to his objectives and warns foolish leaders of their irresponsibility. He offers a political ideology about the rise and fall of powerful men and great empires. This can be briefly summarized by Herodotus when he says human prosperity never abides long in the same place (Herodotus 1.5.3 4). However, the representations of Solon are in some ways different. For example, the Herodotean version uses anecdotes to teach moral lessons, while the lyric Solon explicitly lays out his grievances against the Athenian oligarchy and proposes ways to reform Athens. • 35. The Importance Of The Railway In Canada Canada is a great country but it wouldn t be the same without the Trans Canada Railway. The great achievement of this railway helped form and unite this great country in many ways. These are some of the reasons why I think the CPR helped in forming a strong, united Canada. Confederation on July 1, 1867, brought together the Eastern Colonies of Canada, but as a country, Canada was interested also in making a connection with the West Coast Colonies. One of the ways this was accomplished was by promising to build a railway from coast to coast. The province of Manitoba was convinced to join confederation by 1870, and British Columbia joined in 1871, but only when the Canadian government promised to build the railway within ten years. Unfortunately, that government was unable to follow through with it s promise and true construction only began in 1881 and finally completed in 1885. The first train ran in 1886 from Montreal to Port Moody. The CPR was an important way to connect the large country of Canada. The communities on the West Coast naturally felt like they had more in common with other communities on the coast, such as Oregon and California and may have eventually chosen to ... Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging Functional cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic imaging modality that uses magnetic resonance imaging to assess cardiac function (5). Cine studies can reconstruct images across several phases of the cardiac cycle. This method of MRI can measure left ventricular volume, ejection fraction, myocardial contraction, and strain rate (10). MRI has the ability to provide information on left ventricular function as well as regional profusion simultaneously (11). These Progressive ideals were later continued during the New Deal. Progressivism was primarily a midde class movement and thus sought to reform capitalism and end some of its worst excesses in order to preserve traditional representative democracy. During the late nineteenth century, monopolies were identified as an example of capitalist excess that not only threated economic stability but also the principles of democracy itself as these monopolies were able to influence politics to their benefit. Not just for those on the outside looking in, but those who are participating as well. It not only determines what a social group will do to invoke change, it will also affect how a society will agree or disagree with the change. This manipulation of perception is best defined as framing, and is more than just labeling something as good or bad. Pulling from the articles read from this week the most convincing conceptualization of the term framing was the argument that it consisted of three elements, with the first being the diagnosis of something as problematic and need for alteration, followed by a proposed solution that specifies what needs to be done, and finally a call to rational engagement in corrective action. (Snow Benford 1988) The first point highlighted the importance of contention when it comes to collective action. Problems within any given society are prevalent at all times, however, not until there is a call for a change does collective action occur. Contention rests in the need for a change, whether or not opportunity is the catalyst for contention is debatable, however the conceptualizing of framing laid out by Snow and Benford also brings into question whether or not collective action is a choice rather than a response. His decision to not follow the gods decrees and the consequences of that decision are used by Sophocles to remind the audience to stand with the gods. Creon, the King of Thebes, produced a law in lines 222 228 that a man named Polynices could not be buried, a law that he knew was in direct opposition to a law of the gods. When Antigone tried to follow the gods law by burying Polynices, Creon had her locked up. Creon would have known the laws of the gods, being Grecian perhaps even better than most, being an educated man however, he made the law anyway. Sophoclesexample through Creon gives the audience an example of deliberate disobedience and how easy it is to affront the gods, even if it seems like the honorable thing to do. And Creon did think this; because Polynices was a traitor, Creon was opposed to honoring him with burial, so inducting the law that he could not be into society.
