2. The Upper Class In The Importance Of Earnest
The story of The Importance of Earnest happens in England in the late 19th century,
which is the Victorian Era. It reveals the contrasts of the behavior between the upper
class and the lower class. People from the upper class display a high degree of pride
and pretense with the feeling of inherent entitlement to their wealth and social
position. Instead of analyzing the social classdifferences, this essay will discuss on
the theme of perpetuating the upper class in regard to Lady Augusta Bracknell.
The scenes take place in two identical locales, the lavish London and a countryside
estate. As the heart of England, the urban center of London is a global political and
financial capital as well as a city of poverty. Lady Bracknell is portrayed... Show

Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole
theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately, in England, at any
rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious
danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence of Grosvenor
Square. (p.15) With the use of irony, Lady Bracknell is insinuating that if the poor
and lower class were taught to think or question, the ruling class might have the
chance of being overthrown. For the benefit of the aristocrats, she firmly believes
education should never give any opportunity of substantial change or revolutionary
ideas to the public. The power should be kept in the hands of few or the upper class
might lose its privileged position. In the meantime, to guarantee the inheritance of the
entire rights and wealth of aristocracy, keeping the father s first and last name is
absolutely essential. In the Victorian era, the crucial duty for the eldest son of a
family is to ensure the survival and continuation of his family name. This can be
shown from the dialogue between Jack and Lady Bracknell. Being the eldest son you
were naturally christened after your father.
3. Tornado Script
Tornado Script
By: Rachel Lee
My name is Rachel Lee. What is severe weather? Is a tornado a type of severe
weather? If you want to know, it is yes. A tornado is a type of severe weather. A
tornado is a violent, and narrow row of air that moves fast in a circular way, which
comes from a thunderstorm to the earth. Tornadoes are recognized or known as
cyclones. Cyclones can also be hurricanes, typhoons, or more. They are storms that
counts as severe weather and move quickly around in a circular way. A tornado
happens during a bad thunderstorm. Winds up high blow faster than winds down and
lower. They both go in directions, which makes a circular motion. Then it starts to
rotate faster and faster until it creates a tornado. Before the tornado hits, it dangles ...

Things inside the tornado does not get much damage. Things that are thrown aside
or hit by debris get much more damage. Some people could get killed, and some are
very injured. Little people are left unharmed. You need to pick a place where anyone
can find and be at if a tornado comes. Make sure that everyone is safe. Also, you
have to close the windows, if a safe room has windows. But, try to stay in a safe
place without windows. A tornado looks like a thin rope and twirls fast in a circular
way. The winds from a tornado can swish across and go toward the land as quickly as
100 300 miles per hour. One well known storm is the Great Tri State Tornado. This
tornado was devastating and incredible because it went through three states;
Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana in less than 4 hours. Another very well known storm
is the Flint Beecher Tornado. A tornado had struck the cities Flint and Beecher in
Michigan. It had hit at night, so it was more difficult to understand that there was a
tornado, where it is currently, and what it will damage. In the United States, in the
Midwest, it is also known as the Tornado Alley. There, a lot of tornadoes occur. In the
Midwest, they have tornado
4. Should Children Be Allowed To Play Sports Essay
Children involved in a team atmosphere develop traits to be a good leader, a good
teammate, and key characteristics of a beneficial member of society. Each of
these aspects correlate to advantages in the professional world. Being a part of a
team is applicable in the work force and will benefit the child to understand the
importance of collaborating with others and fulfilling duties of a job. Sports also
teach honorable qualities for successful citizens including, respect, discipline, and
trust. In order to develop these social skills and other skills needed later in life,
improve academics, and combat the rising number of obese or inactive children,
they should be allowed to play sports. According to researchers at Michigan State
University s Institute, Children that are physically active perform better in school,
have better attendance, and improved behavior in academic settings. Physically
active children exhibit an array of benefits in schools such as forty percent higher
test scores and fifteen percent more likely to go to college. Likewise, children with
higher levels of physical fitness have higher grades. Students who are physically fit
also recall nearly twice as much information than those who are not. This... Show

Researchers estimate that if children play on two or more sports teams each year,
the prevalence of obesity would decrease by 26%. From 1971 to 2011 prevalence of
obesity in children more than tripled, making childhood obesity the number one
leading concern for parents in the United States. Children are beginning to develop
health issues that were only seen in adults prior to this epidemic. Along with health
concerns, there are a number of psychological issues in these children as well, such
as depression, low self esteem, and negative body image. Not only do youth sports
combat obesity, they also help develop strong personal and social traits that can be

The world in today, a concept of global village , that mean in the earth are no
nation or group have suggested by Samovar Porter (1991). Something happen in a
part of world and the other part of the world will know immediately, such as in
14th November, 2015, ISIS have been attack Paris and over 140 people get kill by
terrorists, and in the next hour whole the world news are putting this on steam, also
some of the country change the color of their main building to blue, white and red
and produce the message of support Paris. From the transport make us go to
anywhere easily, world become smaller and smaller, we can be more easily to
communication with someone who are from other country or have different culture
background. Even technology is good for communication, Castells (1996) have
pointed out internet appear changed the whole world of mobile communication, to
create a new form of migration of network society, which change the people
relationship and living in long distance, and there are two forces were reshaped the
social life in the world, the virtual online society and mobile communication
technology are affecting the development of the way of human communication. But in
somewhere you never been, also in some moment is hard to communication with
someone who did not have same language or they even do not want to help you, face

6. Essay On The Tragedy Of King Lear
Up until the mid point of his career, Shakespeare divided his plays between the
three major genres: Comedy, Tragedy, and History. The tragic genre is perhaps the
oldest genre in literature, dating back to the ancient Greeks. It started with the
ancient Greek celebrations of Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility. The very
simple plot of a tragedyinvolves a protagonist who desires something which could be
a lover, power, wealth, authority, and obstacles come in his way as he reaches its
fulfillment. However, After undergoing a series of challenges, the protagonist does
not overcome the obstacles, which eventually lead to his downfall and destroy him.
That is apparent in the Shakespearean Tragedyas tragedy does not only mean death or
calamity,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The full title of the play itself The Tragedy of King Lear puts the play in the tragic
genre. As with all tragedies, there exists a tragic hero, one who possesses a fatal flaw
that initiates the tragedy and all the sufferings that follow. King Lear, king of
England, would be the tragic hero because he held the highest position in the
social chain at the very beginning of the play. His social position gave him pride
as he remarked himself as Jupiter and Apollo . Moreover, according to the
definition of a tragic hero, one must be born into nobility, endowed with a tragic
flaw, fail to judge, fall from great heights, being aware that they have made an
inevitable mistake, and faces and accepts death with honor. King Lear meets all of
these qualities. King Lear was a tragic hero that was born into nobility, endowed
with a tragic flaw and fails as he makes a serious mistake in judgement. He owned
vast amounts of land and ruled over many people. Give me the map there. know that
we have divided In three our Kingdom.
The plot is driven by the power and consequence of losses, more specifically, the
losses of King Lear. Throughout the play, because of his flaws, King Lear loses his
authority as a king, his identity as a father, and his sanity as a man. One loss
becomes related to one another. Moreover, his greatest loss, and what
7. Daniel 7 Vs. 1-8
Daniel seven is divided into three distinct parts. The first section of the chapter (vs.
1 8) are about Daniel s vision of the four beasts. The second part (vs. 9 14) are about
the judgement of God. The final part of the chapter (vs. 15 28) are about the
interpretations of his visions. In the first section, Daniel has a vision of four
beasts. These beasts appear in the form of different animals. The first beast, was
like a lion and had eagle s wings, represented Babylon. This image brings the reader
back to the time of Babylonian captivity. The second beast, was like a bear,
represented the Medes. The third beast, was like a winged leopard, represented the
Persians. The fourth and final beast represented the Greeks. This beast... Show more

An angel explains to Daniel what the four beasts represent. Daniel is visibly
worried about these beasts and is told that the fourth beast will be overcome by the
Most High. The beast will be judged and will be put away. The temporary kingdom
set up by this beast will be conquered by the everlasting kingdom. For the people
reading Daniel, they saw the faith of him and his friends in the earlier chapters.
These stories reinforce the idea of having faith under great persecution. Daniel
would not give in to the oppressors, and that is what the people under the Greek
oppression are being called to do as well. They must not change their customs,
simply because they are told to. They must not bow down to other Gods. This
chapter, and the whole book is a call to those people. The readers are able to see
Daniel rewarded for doing what he knows is right in the eyes of the Lord. The
people are also able to see that there will eventually be an end to all their suffering.
This gives them hope for a future. God will judge their oppressors. This hope alludes
not only to the people living right now but to future times. The hope would bring the
people to think about the nation of Israel overcoming the oppressors with the help of
people like the
8. Liquid Chromatography Lab
Chromatography is a technique used to separate a mixture of compounds for
analytical or preparative purposes. In liquid chromatography, the mixture of
compounds is dissolved in a liquid mobile phase and then travels through a stationary
phase, which acts as the adsorbent. Solute molecules interact with the stationary
phase through adsorption and desorption. A compound which has stronger
interactions with the stationary phase will move slower than a compound with
weaker interaction with the stationary phase. The components of a mixture are
separated based on their differences in mobility. Usually the stationary phase is a
polar porous compound, such as silica gel, which has a large surface area and
hydroxyl groups, giving it the ability to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ortho hydroxyacetophenone travelled higher up the silica gel TLC plate than its para
counterpart because ortho was less polar and formed fewer interactions with the silica
gel adsorbent. Ortho hydroxyacetophenone formed intramolecular hydrogen bonds
between its carbonyl and hydroxyl groups. Para hydroxyacetophenone formed
intermolecular hydrogen bonds with its carbonyl and hydroxyl group. P
hydroxyacetophenone was more polar, so it travelled a shorter distance up TLC plate
due to its many interactions with polar silica gel. Polar compounds have stronger
dipole dipole interactions which require more energy and higher temperatures to melt,
accounting for p hydroxyacetophenone s high melting point. Unknown #16 contained
the compounds acetaminophen, caffeine, and acetylsalicylic acid. The distances
acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen travelled along the silica gel plate were very
similar, but since the Rf value of the unknown was closer to acetylsalicylic acid than
to ibuprofen, it was determined that acetylsalicylic acid was one of the unknown
compounds. Since ibuprofen and acetylsalicylic acid travelled the greatest distance
up the TLC plate, they had the least amount of attraction to the silica gel plate,
making them the least polar solutes. For column chromatography, unknown #16
contained 0.0457g ferrocene, 0.0137g 9 fluorenone, and 0.0114g acetylferrocene.
Their mass percentages were 44.15%, 13.24%, and 11.01%, respectively, determined
from a total of 0.1035g of the compound mixture. Ferrocene, 9 fluorenone and
acetylferrocene had melting points of 174 175МЉC, 83 86МЉC, and 83 85МЉC,
respectively. The mixture after evaporation accounted for roughly 68% of the original
mixture. This was mainly due to product loss from keeping only the pure test tubes.
Based on the amount of product obtained, unknown #16 consisted of mostly
ferrocene, and least of
9. 1970 Civil Defense
The fact that these lack any reference to fear or anger demonstrates that civil defense
was working remarkably well in North Dakota in 1964.
While civil defense was effective in 1964, six years passed before protests over the
ABM emerged. Civil defense had more than enough time to erode during this time,
but it did not. Government produced civil defense literature produced between 1964
and 1970 shows the government still had an interest in promoting the psychological
purpose of civil defense. Material produced by local civil defense groups, as well as
further newspaper coverage, demonstrated this was successful.
The first sources to examine are the Government plans regarding civil defense in the
six year period between the installation of the Minuteman Missiles and the
installation of the ABM. The government plans were a result of President Kennedy s

With the economy in a downturn it makes it a lot more difficult for people to
justify spending the money on things that they really do not need. And since these
stores are not everywhere you go it causes people to travel long distances in order
to visit, which means they have to spend additional money on fuel to get there. The
gas prices have been increasing to amounts that have put a damper on a lot of
peoples travel plans. With all of the economic problems some customers are going to
go somewhere that is more local and better in their price range. In addition, Bass Pro
Shops face threats from traditional and specialty sporting stores, mass merchandisers,
and catalog and Internet based retailers. These merchandise providers are everywhere
and the 50 Bass Pro Shops that are currently in the United States and Canada can be
quite a distance for the outdoor enthusiast that already knows what he or she may
need. Furthermore, the consumer who enters a store with the intention to only touch
and / or play with an item that he or she ultimately plans to purchase online threatens
all retail stores.
We would recommend that Bass Pro Shops continue to make their stores unique;
however, making a few smaller stores with some of the same features, lower prices,
and closer to large shopping centers would allow customers to experience the
environment, which may entice them to visit the larger stores. I think that since they

14. Key Differences Between Sedc And Sedlc
Abstract
In today s complex IT system because of the wide abundance of threats and
deliberate attempts to attack networks and IT assets, it is crucial to have a stream
lined process which attempts to incorporate security as an integral part of the
development process as opposed to including security measures after the development
cycle has finished. System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) is a hypothetical method
created for the design and step by step implementation of general information system
in business organizations using six different phases. Security System development
lifecycle (SecSDLC) uses the same six phases to implement the security project

In SDLC, information security is not considered from the inception of the project
from the investigation phase, in contrast, SecSDLC implements information security
in each stage of the phases. Implementation of security as an integral part of the
development process helps to avoid vulnerabilities in the system and integration of
security at each stage of the phases will be a seamless operation and the amount of
spending and time requirement will be significantly minimized. Another key
difference which makes the SecSDLC more attractive over SDLC is the fact that
SecSDLC attempts to analyze existing security policies and find loopholes in the
system, examine legal issues and perform risk assessment of the current threat to the
IT infrastructure at hand and based on the assessment results buildup of security
blueprint and incident response planning will be performed (Whitman Mathord,
2012, p.26 28). This stream lined process makes the SecSDLC more suitable for
current IT Systems where threats and vulnerabilities are limitless. Systems designed
with no inherent security blueprint in place such as the traditional SDLCs fail to
survive in the current and future IT systems. In the current and future IT
implementation, prevention is given more emphasis than finding a cure once
exposed to threats and

idea of starting a business excited them. Entrepreneurs are people who have

strong self confidence, and a passion for the business. We all question what is the
best age for getting started. There is really no simple answer to that question. Most
businesses require some background knowledge. A certain amount of time is usually

The development and constant change of infants is mind blowing and incredible.
Each infant develops at approximately the same, quick pace, but each small life in
the grand scheme of infant development could vary greatly (Santrock, 2016). There
are many different factors that must be considered in the first years of life that are
extremely crucial for development and change. In order to better understand infant
development, it is important to consider how each of these factors will affect the
baby; three examples of these factors are sleep patterns, eating habits, and motor
development, all which impact the general health of the infant overall.
It is relatively general knowledge that infants tend to sleep much more than the
average child, adult, or adolescent. My virtual child, Margo, in between three and
eight months, was sleeping six hours out of the night, and taking a few two hour
naps during the day, consistently sleeping about 12 hours per day (My Virtual
Child, 2014). The average amount of sleep that an infant will get on any given night
is anywhere in between ten to twenty one hours per day (Santrock, 2016). Based on
this knowledge, it can be concluded that Margo s sleeping habits are not necessarily
abnormal for her age. Margo was also strictly breastfed. In the study Infant Sleep
Development from 3 to 6 Months Postpartum: Links with Maternal Sleep and
Paternal Involvement, it was stated that there was correlation between infants that
were strictly breastfed at

20. Literary Uses Of Hyperbole In Go Ask Alice
Hyperbole: A hyperbole is an exaggerated statement or claim not meant to be taken
literally. In Go Ask Alice, the author uses this literary device effectively by using
the exaggeration to illustrate how the character is feeling. Throughout a lot of the
book, she is feeling very sad and overwhelmed. In the very beginning of the book,
she says, And now the whole world is cold and gray and unfeeling. This is an
exaggeration because the whole world isn t literally cold and gray, but that is how
she is seeing it. As the reader, I can get a better understanding of her feelings by her
exaggerations.
Details (selection of detail): Having detail in your writing is very important and can
make the difference in the piece of literature. Detail can help the reader have a better
understanding of what they are reading. On page 134, the author writes, It s a good
thing most people bleed on the inside or this would be a gory, blood smeared Earth.
Anonymous is explaining her feelings about the world around her using immense
detail. As the reader, I can have a better idea of how she is seeing and describing
her world. Simile: A simile is a figure of speech that compares of two things that are
different than each other in order to make a description of something more prominent.
An example of when this is used in the book is when it says, Well, like oil and
water, I can t quite adapt or fit, on page 18. She is comparing to how oil and water
don t mix together to her own situations
21. Education Of Women During The Colonial Period Essay
Education of women in America has changed immensely. Between colonial times and
the present day, women have made great strides in education. In colonial times,
education for most women was limited to reading the bible. Since then, women have
earned equality in primary and secondary education as well as college. This process
has been aided by the enacting laws and through decisions of the courts. This has led
to the equal opportunity that women enjoy today.
Colonial Days
Throughout the colonial period education was limited to both men and women, but
was even more limited to women. There was a gap in education between males and

the facts that you had to pay for schooling. There was also the fact a woman s

Families that wanted to educated their females had very few options of schooling.
They could be home schooled or go to a Dame school. There was a third option of

Marijuana Legalization
The legality of cannabis varies from country to country. Possession of cannabis is
illegal in most countries and has been since the beginning of widespread cannabis
prohibition in the late 1930s. However, possession of the drug in small quantities had
been decriminalized in many countries and sub national entities in several parts of the
world. Furthermore, possession is legal or effectively legal in the Netherlands,
Uruguay, and in the US states of Colorado, Oregon, Alaska and Washington as the
federal government has indicated that it will not attempt to block enactment of
legalization in those states. The federal district of Washington D.C. legalized cannabis
for possession and use in 2015 but was blocked by a Congressional rider from
instituting commercial sales and taxation. Cannabis is also legal in some U.S cities
such as Portland and South Portland, both of which are in Mane. And the United
States Department of Justice is allowing all recognized Indian Reservations to
regulate the legalization of cannabis, and the laws are allowed to be different from
Federal and state law. On 10 December 2013, Uruguay became the first nation in the
world to legalize the sale, cultivation, and distribution of cannabis.
The medicinal use of cannabis is legal in a little bit of countries, including Canada,
the Czech Republic and Israel. The federal law in the United States no longer has a
ban on the use of medical marijuana. States that
23. Afterlife
Since the beginning of human life on Earth, one question has bothered our society
more than anything else. This question, as easiest as it might sound, is the one
question that had driven our society more and more towards new ideas, new

answer to it, has defined us: from reasonable to unreasonable, from the most
intelligent creation that has ever walked on the face of the Earth, to simply: beasts

Talmud gives another interpretation, which is that after death the soul is brought to
judgment, and those who have lived a pure life will enter into the World to Come and
sinners will enter

perception is not acceptable. In Hinduism according to Bhagavat Gita a book of
24. Essay On Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
In order to understand how much the Charter of Rights and Freedoms has truly
changed our nation for the better, we have to look back in history at the first form of
the Charter that we have today. This was known as the Bill of Rights, which was
introduced by Conservative Prime Minister John Diefenbaker in 1960. Its preamble
contains the Parliament of Canada, affirming that the Canadian Nation is founded
upon principals that acknowledge the supremacy of God, the dignity and worth of
the human person and the position of the family in a society of free men and free
institutions. It also guarantees that people remain free only when moral and spiritual
values and the rule of law are respected. This Bill sounded good at the time, but had

It was signed by Queen Elizabeth the II, and enacted by the Liberals under the helm
of Pierre Trudeau on April 17, 1982. This Charter has implemented an entirely new
identity for Canada and has become a symbol of freedom and equality, as well as,
among other countries around the world. The Bill of Rights that was created in 1960
intended on protecting individual rights and freedoms from government legislation,
but it was not entrenched in the Canadian constitution, and so it did not allow the
Supreme Court to have ultimate power over striking down legislation. The Charter
of Rights and Freedoms corrected this oversight, and not only gave the courts the
authority to strike down laws, but also to recommend amendments. However, the
Supreme Courts power over this process has caused some to question whether or not
their role in the government promotes or diminishes Canada s democratic ideals.
Therefore, The Charter of Rights and Freedoms should be used in other countries for
it provides Canadians with the important element of equality, as long as everyone
respects all the measures of
25. Parenting Styles And Risk Taking Essay
According to the 2003 Youth Risk Behaviour Survey , adolescents involvement in
risk taking behaviour has been on the decline since 1991, but despite this decline
adolescent lives are still in danger due to their risk taking, so it continues to be a
significant problem. Resnick et al. proposed that there is a relationship between close
ties to parents and adolescent development, it was found that adolescents that did not
have close ties were involved in risky sexual behaviour and use of narcotics and
alcohol. With time, the relationship between parenting styles and risk taking
behaviour in adolescents is understood. Risk may be defined as the potential of
gaining or losing something of value . According to Arnett , risks taken by Danish
adolescents include drug use, unintentional injuries while driving different vehicles

This paper will establish the extent to which parenting styles affect risk taking
behaviour in adolescents and findings from this paper may translate into insights for
improving parenting styles and for parents to understand the effect they have on their
children. Further, parents should understand that some forms of adolescent behaviour
are not only a risk to their child but can be dangerous to many other people as well
such as drunk driving or criminal behaviour. A parenting style is a psychological
construct representing standard strategies that parents use in their child rearing .
Research shows that quality and quantity of time spent with the child is an important
factor in their upbringing and personality. Some cultures have a standard parenting
style, but most can be segregated into several types. This essay is an opportunity to
evaluate the effectiveness of various parenting styles on

To address the problem, we need to compare and contrast the modern form of the
postal service: electronic mail (e mail). Although email is favorable because it
makes communication remarkably fast and you can send things for free , in many
ways the good old letter is better. We want to identify when and how the letter is
better. Even though it is free to send an email, you still need access to internet and a
computer, both in which cost hundreds of dollars, opposed to a letter where you can
have everything you need to send a letter under a dollar. A letter is also hard
evidence, it s harder to forge than an email, since handwriting is unique, and typing is
not. Computers can have many internal errors; the computer can crash, information
can be lost or leaked to someone.

Relative risk is used when considering medical clearance, exercise testing, and level

risk factors one associates with. Based on the presence or absence of known
cardiovascular, pulmonary, or metabolic diseases as well as the total number of
CVD risk factors, a flow chart can show a patient what risk classification they fall

they exemplifying signs or symptoms. However, moderate risk patients have two or
more CVD risk factors while

Most of the previous authors looked at the typical German woman of the Third
Reich, but what Anna Marie Sigmund s 2000 text Women of the Third Reich set
out to do was to educate readers about the women in the sphere of the Nazi Elite.
Sigmund focused on eight women: Eva Braun, Magda Goebbels, Carin Goering,
Emmy Goering, Geli Raubal. Lenu Riefenstal, Getrud Scholtz Klink, and Henriette
von Schirach. Each of these women was either related to Hitler, married or related
to one of his officers, or worked for the Nazi party (both directly and indirectly). By
working in the same style as Owings, Sigmund gives reader glimpse into individual
lives, utilizing written primary and secondary sources rather the personal interviews,
and from these stories, commonalities can be found, and conclusions drawn.

32. Ethics of Deception in Advertising
Ethics of deception in advertising: Why is deceptive advertising morally
objectionable? 1. Introduction In the world of today, the role of marketing within the
business community has increased exponentially. Nowadays consumers are presented
with countless purchase opportunities, numerous providers and various points of
value. In order to attract and retain their buyers, economic agents devise and
implement a wide array of strategic efforts, including the creation of strong and
aggressive marketing campaigns. Marketing today is virtually present in all aspects
of life and it addresses virtually anybody, from young children to senior consumers,
and selling anything from toys and diapers to medicine. And in ensuring an increase
in the demand for the advertised product, often times marketers use deception in their
campaigns. The specialized literature on the aspect of deception in advertising is
rather scarce and its primary shortage is that of not having coined a universally
accepted definition of deceptive advertising. Additionally, another problem is raised
by the fact that deceptive advertising is often accepted as unethical, yet evidence
lacks in this sense. In such a context then, the current project sets out to establish a
more thorough understanding of the concept of deceptive advertising and to assess
its ethical dimension. 2. Deceptive advertising defined As it has been mentioned
throughout the previous section, the specialized literature has not yet
33. The Characteristics Of Male Characters In The Iliad
The Iliad, an ancient Greek classic poem by Homer, is set 10 years into the Trojan
War. It is believed that the Gods, specifically Zeus, were fascinated by war and
initiated the Trojan battle as a way to reduce the increasing mortal population
(Cartwright, The Trojan War ). The war, fought between the Greek and Trojan
armies, would produce leaders on both sides who were their respective militaries
greatest fighters. As such, several of the male characters in the Iliaddisplay heroic
characteristics. Each have prominent strengths and weaknesses which are obvious at
many times throughout the conflicts played out in poem. Two key examples of such
characters are Achillesand Hektor. These two characters have noticeable differences
in their approach to heroism. But despite their differences and the fact that they are
fighting for opposing forces, they have several similar traits as well. They both
display behaviors that could be described as heroic.
According to Homer, Achilles, who is depicted as one of the Greek Archaean s
most valuable warriors, and glorious Hektor, who was ever the bravest fighter of the
Trojans (Homer, Iliad 6.460) , are esteemed and adored by citizens of both sides.
They are considered the most important characters in the Iliad. Their differences arise
in the way they conduct their family affairs and relationships, their leadership of their
respective armies, and their interaction with the Gods. The prominent difference
between Hektor
34. Heat and Iron
A clothing iron, also called a flatiron or simply an iron, is a small appliance: a
handheld piece of equipment with a flat, roughly triangular surface that, when
heated, is used to press clothes to remove creases. It is named for the metal of
which the device is commonly made, and the use of it is generally called ironing.
Ironing works by loosening the ties between the long chains of molecules that exist in
polymer fiber materials. With the heat and the weight of the ironing plate, the fibers
are stretched and the fabric maintains its new shape when cool. Some materials, such
as cotton, require the use of water to loosen the intermolecular bonds. Many materials
developed in the twentieth century are advertised as needing little or no... Show more

According to How Things Work in Your Home by Time Life Books, a heat control
lever rotates a cam that regulates the opening between the contacts located on the
thermostat. A steam valve attached to a vapor chamber located above the heating
element opens up when the correct temperature is reached and water enters the
chamber and is converted into steam. From there, the water is converted to steam,
which exits from the soleplate at the bottom of the iron through the ports. On the top
of the iron, a pump draws water from the reservoir and sprays it through the nozzle.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance
Most problems occur when an iron is either dropped, the cord is frayed or mineral
deposits from hard water clog the ports. Time Life recommends that irons be rinsed
after use and a small brush used to clean the ports. To clean the aluminum soleplate
on the bottom of the iron, use a solution of one part baking soda to two parts water
on a cloth. Use a soapy scouring pad to clean steel soleplates. Whichever type of
cleaning method is used, dry the iron thoroughly. After heating it up over the lowest
setting, run the iron over a piece of wax paper and then a dry cloth, according to
Time Life. Irons with nonstick soleplates should be cleaned with a damp sponge or
cloth to avoid damage to the coating. Nicks can be buffed out with an emery board.
Cords should be replaced if the iron does not heat. This can be a do it yourself
project, according to Time Life;
35. The Picture Of Dorian Gray And Doctor Faustus Analysis
Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full
grown, gives birth to death (James 1:15). In The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar
Wilde and Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe; the character progression in the
protagonists of both novels is the epitome of one s demise from greed. Both Dr.
Faustus and Dorian Gray had desires out of their mortal reach, fueling their deals with
Evil for the lust that dwelt within them. However our titular characters had different
motivations that fueled their sin, with this motivation ultimately turning to regret in
the end. Despite the opportunity to repent, both protagonists chose their desires
instead, leading them down a path towards damnation. Both Dorian Gray and Dr.
Faustus had self serving aspirations that goaded both characters to covenant with
demonic powers; however what these aspirations the immoral protagonists had
differed. Dorian Gray was an innocent youth that went down a course of
exceptional hedonism under the influence of Lord Henry and his own volition.
Dorian s journey starts when witnessing Basil s portrait of him stating, If it was I
who were to be forever young, and the picture that were to grow old! unknowingly
selling his soul through the words, I would give everything! Yes, there is nothing
in the whole world I would not give! (Wilde 42). It was this desire to stay eternally
youthful that allows Dorian to freely experience society s vices. The furthest
extent of Dorian s sin was his murder of former friend Basil, who wishes to have
Dorian s influence, be for good, not for evil but in the end this opportunity for
redemption was literally stabbed in the back (Wilde 197). This climax of Dorian s
wickedness leads him to question his actions and the dualist nature between his
angelic appearance and devilish essence; the guilt of his sins weighing heavily on
Dorian s mind. Dorian reminisces of the past stating:
Was it really true that one could never change? He felt a wild longing for the
unstained purity of his boyhood, his rose white boyhood, as Lord Henry had once
called it. He knew that he had tarnished himself, filled his mind with corruption, and
given horror to his fancy; that he had been an evil influence
36. Persuasive Essay On A Healthy Diet
When it comes to picking a diet, there are 150 to choose from. So how do you
know which ones to choose? Well, pick one that is healthy and won t harm your
body, one that works well and can make you feel better about your self boost your
self esteem. Some people start to go on a diet because they think that all their
problems in their lives are about their weight. Others believe that it s an area of
their life that they can t control, they go on a diet so they can focus on something
that they can control their exercise and food intake. Some main diets that you
might hear are being a vegetarian and paleolithic. There are plenty of others, but
there is a diagnosis that is beginning to come around, which is being gluten free. A
vegetarian diet consists of only: vegetables, fruits, and dairy products to a certain
limit. When going on this diet, it excludes eating all meats. They don t believe in
the killing of animals and then eating them. A theory that most people have is they
can cook a healthy, meat free that supports weight loss and reduces the risk of
heart disease (Vegetarian Diet). Being a vegetarian, you can lose the daily needs
of your body, like the protein, but some grocery stores have soy burgers and fake
meat so that kind of diet can stay healthy. When purchasing these items, it can be a
bit overpriced. When looking for a source of protein, go towards eggs. They are a
good way to save money instead of buying pounds of meat. When looking for
grains, beans, and rice, being a vegetarian is the way to go (Vegetarian Diet). If
you keep eating fruits, veggies, and grains, they will make your body feel full of
fewer calories. When considering weight loss, it is likely to lose weight because
of the fewer calories and the body mass isn t high enough. When it comes to
preparing the food, there will always be a tasteful recipe on the internet that will
give you energy for the day and can cover your snacking habits (Vegetarian Diet).
Next is being a paleolithic. The aim of a paleo diet is to return to a way of eating
that s more like what early humans ate. MEAT! When following this diet, the main
goal is to lose weight, and they can sometimes have trouble planning their meal plans.

Performance is a visible entity: it can be seen and that in itself leads to an enabling
of mechanisms for measurement and standardisation to be put in place. However, the
formation of judgements and the making of decisions are much less visible and thus
resistant to quantitative systems of measurement and standardization. In the words of
Fish and de Cossart (2007), performance is more visible whereas judgement and
decision making are invisibles , being different and more reflective (and, in the words
of another interviewee (see page 57ff in this chapter), compatible with a more
qualitative assessment procedure. We will return to this point
43. How Yoga Can Help Relieve The Stress That College
Students
One would be hard pressed to find a college student who does not deal with high
levels of stress. According to the American College Health Association s annual
assessment last year, approximately 53% of college students reported experiencing
above average levels of stress (ACHA). What s more, 30% of those students said
stress had a significant negative impact on their academic performance (ACHA).
Unfortunately, attending college requires students to take on unavoidably stressful
situations, such as paying for tuition and living expenses, rigorous coursework, and
other social and family related obligations. Since the sources of stress cannot be
eliminated for the most part, the best way to students to successfully navigate their
college educationis to learn methods for stress management. One of these methods is
to practice yoga. In this paper, I hope to demonstrate how yoga can help relieve the
stress that college students experience by explaining the physical and mental
benefits of developing a yoga practice. In addition, I will address the limitations that
college students in the United States may face when getting involved with yoga,
and in turn offer solutions to these limitations. First, I will give a brief overview of
the history of yoga and explain what it is. The word yoga means to unite or connect.
It is a spiritual practiceand system of discipline that originated in India approximately
five thousand years ago. Although it is most commonly tied to the religion
44. Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
I have a 13 year old boy at school by the name of Cory and he is finishing up his 7th
grade year. Cory is a very nice and respectable young man but all year has struggled
to stay on task and turn work assignments in on time. Cory s mother has to come to
the school periodically to help him clean out his locker and at home clean out his
back pack to find some of Cory s missing assignments. Cory has been having a hard
time in school with his peers and some of his teachers. His friends thinks that most
of the time Cory is being annoying and his teachers complain that he cannot stay
on task, does not listen and talks too much. The teachers have spoken to Cory s
parents on several occasions to try to come up with solutions to the problem but so
far no success with any long term changes. When at home Cory acts as though he
has a million things to do moving around the house, talks to everyone nonstop but
can never seem to just take a break to have quiet time and finish homework etc. It
seems that Cory does not want to listen to his authority figures or just out right
does not do what is ask of him but when it is brought to his attention he is
apologetic and acts as though he really did not remember. According to the
symptoms for the DSM 5 Cory definitely meets the criteria for ADHD. Cory has
never had any other issues prior to being diagnosed now and these issues have been
going on for the past 8 months now. The problems in school started when Cory was
in the 6th grade
45. The Domino Effect In Hamlet By William Shakespeare
When you empower people you re not influencing just them; you re influencing all
the people they influence. (John Maxwell) Control gives you the power to change
what happens in your life and sometimes others. This can lead to good or bad
situations, but in a Shakespeare play Hamlet it s what leads to major events in the
play. William Shakespeare is known for his way of writing tragic events that are
usually caused by some character trying to manipulate others. People who try to
manipulate others for their benefit are more focused on achieving their plans than
helping. Family can manipulate someone in their own way and not intentionally, but
can be pursued as them taking control of your decisions. In the play Shakespeare s,
way of making the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Hamlet the control starts with Claudius the king whose also is Hamlet s uncle
starts the by controlling the Lord Chamberlin Polonius and manipulating him to use
his daughter Ophelia to find out why Hamlet is acting insane and what is he
planning to do. At such time I ll loose my daughter to him(Claudius). Be you and I
behind an arras then, Mark the encounter (2,2,165). As parents try to control their
children, it only leads them to think they can control everything and anyone,
especially them in their relationship where Ophelia tries to control Hamlet and the
way he is acting because she doesn t believe that Hamlet is truly insane. Trying to
take someone s right to be who they are and letting them be is what leads to
relationships, not lasting like Hamlet s and Ophelia s because of her trying to make
Hamlet into someone he was not anymore. The Domino theory was effective and
communism didn t spread, but in the twist of Hamlet, he ended up controlling all the
characters when they were all trying to control him. As they all try to manipulate the
situations and find out what Hamlet is real intentions are when he already knew
Claudius was controlling everyone around him into finding out what Hamlet knew
about his father s death. The dominos all fell into place as everyone thought but one
who controlled it all. Even though
46. Analysis Of Tinker V Moines
This article emphasizes the First Amendment and its limits. In this article, there are
many examples and cases that involve the First Amendment and how it is used. In
Tinker v. Des Moines, John Tinker and some fellow students that attended Des
Moines public school were suspended for wearing black armbands to school. They
wore the armbands to protest the Vietnam War. The school district was afraid of the
outcome of the students wearing the armbands rather than acknowledging their
freedom of speechThe students then brought a suit against the school saying that the
suspension violated their rights of freedom of speech. The case was appealed to the
Supreme Court. The Supreme Court decided that the students did nothing wrong.
They silently expressed
