Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the topic of "Essay Example" can prove to be a challenging endeavor, as
the irony lies in the inherent complexity of elucidating a subject that seemingly demands clarity
and simplicity. The very nature of the task requires navigating a delicate balance between
providing a concrete example while maintaining the fluidity necessary for an engaging and
insightful piece.
One of the primary challenges lies in avoiding the trap of redundancy. Writing an essay on a
topic that directly implies providing an example necessitates a meticulous selection process. It's
crucial to choose an illustrative example that not only resonates with the theme but also offers
depth and nuance, steering clear of clichГ©s or overused instances. The challenge is to strike a
chord between uniqueness and relatability, fostering a connection with the reader without
succumbing to predictability.
Additionally, the writer must grapple with the intricacies of structure and coherence. Shaping an
essay that seamlessly weaves together the chosen example, analysis, and supporting evidence
demands a keen understanding of the topic's nuances. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a
clear and concise argument but also in ensuring that each paragraph flows logically into the next,
forming a cohesive narrative that captivates the reader's attention.
Furthermore, the challenge extends to the art of engagement. Crafting an essay on such a topic
requires the writer to captivate the audience from the outset and maintain their interest
throughout. Balancing the informative aspects with a compelling writing style proves to be a
constant juggling act, where the writer must be mindful of not overwhelming the reader with
technicalities or sacrificing depth for simplicity.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the seemingly straightforward topic of "Essay Example" is a
task laden with intricacies. It involves a delicate dance between clarity and complexity,
uniqueness and relatability, and information and engagement. Successfully navigating these
challenges requires a deft hand and a nuanced understanding of the subject matter.

Reddi Wip Argument Essay
Whether it be after a large meal and everyone has cleared their plates and the
dessert utensils are coming out, one product seems to always be in conjunction
with the desserts themselves, whipped cream. Whipped cream goes splendidly
well with any type of dessert. But there is one brand of whipped cream that is
better than the rest, favored by most Americans and most well know. That brand is
Reddi Wip. Reddi Wip was invented in 1948 and still has a large impact on the
dessert world today. I think the product of Reddi Whip is an interesting artifact that
fits well with the theme of Science and Technology because it is not a product
directly found in nature, when first created people needed to experiment with it to

The process of making basic whip cream can be done at home quite easily. All one
needs to is place heavy whipping cream into a bowl and whatever flavoring desired
into a bowl and start whisking. After a couple of minutes the contents of the bowl
will be look light and airy. Now one would think that was how the cans of Reddi
Wip are prepared, but with the advances of technology that is not the case. Cans are
filled with the machine stirred ingredients. Although the main ingredient is still
cream in this process the product would not be as popular if all it had was cream.
The second main ingredient is sugar, although each flavor of Reddi Wip has less than
two percent of the recommended grams of sugar per serving, with thirty seven
servings in one six and a half ounce can. After all the miscellaneous ingredients are
added there comes a very specific ingredient, this allows the contents of the can to
be spun around to release the favored topping. Nitrous oxide is a chemical that is
primarily used for doctor performed surgical purposes, to put the patients asleep
while they are being operated on. But once placed in a can with cream and sugar it
helps whirl the ingredients together to create the whipped goodness that we place
onto our desserts. Through technological breakthroughs Reddi Wip has been able
safely add minimal amounts of this chemical to their product to enhance it to create
the desired whipped and light form they intended
Persian Empire Chapter 1 Summary
Arya Rawal Miss Haselton AP World History Period 6 12 September 2015 Chapter
4 IDs Eurasian Empires Thesis Statement: 1. Persian Empire: The Persian Empire
was one of wealth and splendor based in Iran and the Persian Gulf. From 557 to 331
B.C.E., it spanned from Egypt to the Indus River. Through conquests, 35 million
people came to live under Persian rule. This empire was heavily influenced by
previous civilizations, like Babylon and Assyria. Monarchs with absolute,
unquestionable power ruled the empire. Ahura Mazda, a Persian god, assigned this
authority to the rulers. Because The Persian Empire was so large, it shaped cultures
with its taxes, translators, coins, and canals. (Political, Interaction, Cultural) 2.
Ashoka: Ashoka was a monarch of India, ruling from 268 to 232 B.C.E. during the
Mauryan Empire. Unlike Alexander the Great and Shihuangdi, Ashoka ruled with
more liberal policies, adopting the principles of Hinduism and Buddhism. His reign
was short lived, and his death marked the end of the Mauryan Empire. (Political,

empire thrived under Confucianism due to its lax policies and merit based systems.
Wudi, a bureaucratic leader, opened up several elite academies educating officials on
the teachings of Confucianism. These academies spread Chinese values throughout
the entire empire and secured them up until the early 1900s. The fall of the Han
Dynasty indirectly came from the Yellow Turban Rebellion of 184 C.E. Peasants
were being forced into tenant farming by wealthy families, leading many peasant
revolts. As conquests continued, The Chinese Empire grew increasingly large in size,
making it difficult to enforce rules and collect taxes. This caused a weak central
government. Eventually, the empire became vulnerable to outside attacks, and fell.

Analysis Of Paul Auster s The Country Of Last Things
The way characters act in novels can typically reflect the actions of our own world
today. In The Country of Last Things by Paul Auster, situations present themselves
in the story that normally show how humans would react in our world today. The
protagonist of the story, Anna Blume, as well as many minor characters introduce
the realities of dealing with real problem. As we explore Anna s journey of finding
her missing brother, William, readers encounter the tragedies that a dystopian world
has to offer. At every corner, events such as theft, famine, and death exist. Her
expedition was a rough one that leads to trouble physically and mentally. Food, one
of the most essential items to keep humans alive, is scarce; the people adapt to the
famine and survive on the basis of preserving the livelihood of their own family.
Theft has become so rampant that no one even considers it a crime anymore and
people welcome death with open arms through suicide or assassination. Looking for
shelter becomes a difficult task when Anna tries to find a place to call home because
it would only last momentarily. As a result, the novelshows the true nature and well
being of humans and tackles the idea that we act based on situations that would only
benefit ourselves. Death is an ever occurring event that happens rampantly throughout
the novel. The grandson of Dr.Woburn, Willie, shows his reaction to the death of a
family member. His grandfather, being one of the influential beings in his life,
The Red Badge Of Courage Essay
Henry Fleming s character changed several times throughout The Red Badge of
Courage. These changes showed how Henry became a man and how he gained the
confidence and courage required to be a soldier. In Chapter 1, Henry is completely
engaged in his own thoughts. He daydreams about his farm, his home, and the
conversation he had with his mother. This shows that, at the beginning of the novel,
Henry is excited and has unrealistic ideas of glory. He is a dreamer. He doesn t think
of death, especially not the possibility of his own death. In Chapter 2, Henry starts to
connect with the other soldiers in his regiment. He listens to the soldiers talking the
enemyand the coming battle. As he listens to these stories, Henry doesn t know if
they are all true and because he doesn t know if they are true and whether or not to
believe them, he starts to become afraid. He keeps his feelings to himself,
separating himself from the others. In Chapters 3 and 4, Henry s fears and doubts
are increased by rumors from soldiers. At this point in the novel, he has seen battles
but has not been part of one yet. Henry s fear of not knowing what will happen
grows because he has not seen the enemy. His fear of the unknown is greater than the
idea of having to face the problem head on.
The first major character change that Henry made was in chapter 5. It is the first day
of the first battle for Henry and the other soldiers. As he forgets his doubt and fears
about how he performs, he stands tall and
Should The Government Surveillance Of Internet Privacy
The internet is a vast global interconnected network enabling numerous people to
access countless information and communicate with others miles away. When
browsing the web nowadays, however, many forget what’s really happening
behind the scenes. Internet cookies and complex algorithms are being downloaded
behind your back allowing big brand companies and even the federal governmentto
track what the people are doing. This is a major violation to our right to privacywhich
is implied in the Constitution. On the other hand, it’s understandable for the
government to have a substantial amount of surveillance of the internetto monitor
terrorists and people seeking to cause harm, but the extent the US government
controls over the web is absurdly large and unnecessary. Overall, surveillance and
order must be maintained throughout the internet to deter fanatics intending to cause
harm, but the United States government have increased their range so wide it has...

The Critical And Conceptual Inquiry
In the early 1950 s, Ludwig Wittgenstein (1953) openly condemned psychology as a
discipline plagued with conceptual confusion, and rife with experimental methods
that are often completely irrelevant to the problems they set out to solve. Although
written over half a century ago, Wittgenstein s criticism actively reflects the distinct
conundrum of modern day psychology, in which expeditious empirical expansion is
coupled with conceptual and theoretical turmoil (Hacker, 2007). Despite this
ambiguity, the advancement of contemporary experimental techniques continues to
cultivate a naГЇve, unjustified assurance in the status of psychology as a physical
science. Openly condemning metatheoretical psychologists , the proposition under
scrutiny is directly representative of the common neglect of philosophical
investigation within the scope of contemporary psychological research. Irony lies in
the fact the critical and conceptual inquiry undertaken by such philosophical types is
imperative in the formation of factual, scientific theories (Boag, 2011). In this sense,
I will argue that to label metatheoretical psychologists as cowboy builders is absurd.
They do not tear down edifices in the lust for destruction as suggested by the premise
at hand, instead, they play a much more important role by providing conceptual
critique in the hope of theoretical improvement and stability (Noaparast, 1995).
Abstract analysis such as this can prove helpful in exposing conceptual
Willie Mcgee Analysis
Willie McGee was a married African American man from Laurel, Mississippi who
was accused of raping a white woman in 1945. His trial, which ended in a
sentencing of the death penalty, was the inspiration for Harper Lee s famous novel
To Kill a Mockingbird. Willie McGee was born in Laurel, Mississippi in the midst of
Jim Crow segregation. He grew up attending all black local schools. Willie began
work while still a young man and obtained a job as a local grocery delivery man in
his 30 s. He was married on April 15, 1935 and had four children with his life.
McGee was arrested for the alleged rape of Willette Hawkins, a 32 year old white
housewife in town. He was tried within a month in front of an all white jury. It took
less than three minutes for them to sentence him to death in the electric chair.... Show

In March 1951, Faulkner (the 1950 Nobel Prize Laureate) spoke to a group of
northern and southern McGee supporters, arguing that McGee was framed and
innocent of the charges against him. Wright raised $18,000 for McGee s widow
and children. Williams even added reference to the McGee case in his play
Orpheus Descending through the character of Carol Catrere (Act 1, Scene 1): And
when that Willie McGee thing came along, he was sent to the chair for having
improper relations with a white whore. [Her voice is like a passionate cantation.] I
made a fuss about it. I put on a potato sack and set out for the Capitol on foot. This
was in winter. I walked barefoot in this burlap sack to deliver personal protest to the
governor of the state. Oh, you know how far I got, six miles out of town. Hooted,
jeered at, even spit on†every step of the way and then arrested. Quoted from
Wikipedia. United States Supreme Court Justice Burton granted McGee a stay of
execution on July 26, 1950. Though, once McGee s habeas corpus relief was denied,
McGee was executed on May 8,
The Kansas State University Orchestra Conducted
I recently attended the Kansas State University Orchestra conducted by Dr. David
Littrell and graduate student Travis Hale. The orchestra featured four pieces,
Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Minor composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Petite Suite
composed by Claude Debussy arranged by Henri Busser, Overture to La Gazza Ladra
(The Thieving Magpie) composed by Gioachino Rossini, and Overture to Le roi d Ys
composed by Edouard Lalo. The first piece of musicperformed was the Orchestral
Suite No. 3 in D Minor. The melody of this piece was very conjunct and smooth.
The pitches fit together well and were played staccato, but in the Air, portion the
melody became more legato. Since a suite is a collection of dances this is very
metric. It is very easy to find a beat and tap your toe to the beat. Every movement of
this suite was very easy to find the beat. I believe the piece was in a quadruple
meter because the continuo, played by the double bass, could be counted into
four. The dynamics were very moderate staying within the range of forte and piano,
which is typical of the baroque period when this piece was written. The piece was
polyphonic and each section had their own parts that worked together to make the
piece. The piece could also be considered a call and response in the Bouree and
Gigue movements. The violins and woodwinds would play a part of the melody and
then the brass and bass would come in with a short response to their melody. The
next piece performed was Petite Suite

Budweiser insists on innovating, by launching new products (like the ice beer Bud

young people that drink beer while hanging out at home, watching sport at TV. But
this target is not realistic as it seems that most BudweiserВЎВ¦s buyers are older than

Johannes Brahme Minor E Minor Symphony 9
The fourth and last symphony of Johannes Brahms is in E minor, Op. 98. The
symphony is played by four horns, two flutes, two clarinets, two oboes, two bassoons,
contrabassoon, two trumpets, triangle, strings, three trombones and timpani. It
contains four movements; first, Allegro non troppo in E minor, second, Andante
moderato in E minor E major, third, Allegro giocoso in C major and the final Allegro
energico e passionato in E minor.
The piece starts beautifully with a minor and starts to build up slowly and gradually.
The first movement was absolutely abstract. It builds up a soothing feeling inside of
you. The music is slow and peaceful. It just takes me to somewhere peaceful. It gives
a calming sense and takes away all the tension from

Notes On The Physics Of Physics
Overview During my time in physics, I have learned a variety of topics, equations,
formulas, and ideas that further continue my intelligence and learning when it
comes to my life. However, there has always been something in nature that has
always gripped my attention more than anything else. Water. Water as a general
concept is something that is truly a miracle for life. It allows all living creatures to
survive through drinking, bathing, and an overall healthy and happy life for all.
Because of this, I was able to derive the law from two different scientists regarding
this topic. One of which was Evangelista Torricelli(Galileo s assistant), who was able
to derive Torricelli s law v2 = 2gH, in where g represents the acceleration due to the...

The total amount of water I chose to fill the bottle with is approximately 1700 mL
since above that level of water the bottle shape begins to change. I chose to
measure 100 mL differences for water volume differences in order to achieve a
total range of numbers between 500 and 1700 mL. I also determined that at 1700
mL, the flow rate allowed for the water to drain nearly 100 mL over the 5 seconds
recorded. If I used a value that was less than 100 mL, I would find that one trial
would go into another trial. I chose use a period of 5 seconds for a few reasons.
This period allows us to collect a vast range of data for the amount of drainage,
between the values of 27 and 96 mL. If I used a longer duration, like for instance,
10 seconds, I would find that the amount of water drained would be roughly
between the values of 50 and 200 mL, which would go into the other trials. The
reason why I did not choose a value less than 5 seconds was because such a small
value would greatly amplify the problem of my reaction time. Also, the values
collected would go between 5 mL and 25 mL, which would be too small for this
experiment to work. Finally, I chose to use 6 trials for each condition. Materials:

Analysis Of Orphan Train By Christina Baker Kline
My first impressions of Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline were positive. As I
do with every book before I read it, I looked up this novel on Goodreads to get a
sense of what I was in for. To my satisfaction the book had many positive reviews
acclaiming it as a gripping novel of historical importance. I found the summary
intriguing. I had never before heard of the orphan trains. It is an event that has slid
mostly unnoticed through time, but it is a part of America s history and deserves to
be known. Just the fact that Orphan Trainwas a historical fiction novel about an
event that I had known nothing about was enough for me to become invested in
the book. Upon reading it, I was not disappointed. The plot was enticing and the
characters were relatable. Though I would have liked to see further character
development of Molly, I liked that we were learning Vivian s story through Molly
s community service hours and portrait project. This allowed us to see how Vivian
s life unfolded beyond the orphan trains and her budding relationship not only with
Molly but also with the daughter she gave up long ago. The lack of attention on
Molly did make it seem like she was a side character to Vivian. That may have been
the author s intent, but it made me care much more for Vivian and her story as
opposed to Molly s story. Vivian s life was such a train wreck it was hard to stop
reading. Literature is often defined as writing that evokes empathy in the reading.
Christina Baker Kline certainly achieved that with her novel. Even the beginning
of the book where Niamh was living as a poor immigrant with an alcoholic father
and a depressed mother made me want to pluck her out of the book and offer her a
nice meal and a warm bath. My favorite part of the story was when she was living
with Miss Larson and Mrs. Murphy. This seemed to be the time when she was the
happiest. Despite Dorothy s happiness, she knew she could not stay. I was glad she
finally found a family to care for her, even if she could not fully love them. Like
many others I was grieved by Dutchy s loss and despondent over Vivian s decision to
give up their child. However, I did understand her decision even if I did not agree
with it. The book was depressing as

I just set out on my great Alaskan adventure. This may not be my first day in Alaska
but this definitely the start of my true adventure. I am alone out here. The only other
living creatures here are the animals. I have prepared for this. I know I am ready.
After leaving the last man who I hitchhiked with I set out on the trail. He offered me
a sandwich that I am currently eating while sitting here and contemplating my
surroundings. The land is vast and the stampede trail seems almost never ending.
It is cold but not unbearable so. I plan to forage for dinner using my guides to find
edible plants and berries. This may be my last big adventure I take on. The reason
for that may be my own choice or the choice of nature. Things look good at the
moment and I do not see a reason for that to change. I don t get lonely easily and I
don t particular seek out human companionship, but I do feel as if I may start to
miss some of the people who I have come to be attached to ... Show more content on

I attempted to leave but I was forced to turn around because of an unexpected river. I
am very weak, unable to accomplish the necessary tasks in order to survive out here.
I am dying. If I do not get help soon I will be dead. I am not able to hunt and I fear I
will soon start to lose my grip and succumb to starvation. I have very little to support
myself and I am in a very unhealthy state. I believe this is caused by something I have
eaten. All I can say at this point is I am happy I was able to experience this before I
died. I was able to live up to the writing I gained my inspiration from. Like
Huckleberry Finn and the premise of Jack London s novels I have rejected what I
saw wrong with society and lived to my own accord. I am content with how I have
lived my life over these last few years, and I believe I made the correct choice to
come out here. I just truly hope I am able to receive help soon. So I guess this may

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Essay
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a chivalric romance. The romance is by the
Gawain Poet; although it was translated by John Gardner. It is very interesting and
has a shocking climax. The Green Knight arrives in the beginning of the story, New
Year s Day to be exact. He arrives asking to play a game, while King Arthurand his
knights celebrate. The Green Knight arrived unarmed, with no shield neither spear
shaft. King Arthur stares bravely at the Green Knight. The game which the Green
Knight wanted to play consisted of someone striking him with his own ax, wherefore,
the person who accepts will receive the same (a srike with the ax) a year later.
Shocked that no one came forward, the Green Knight coughed in embarrassment. He
looked at King Arthur and his knights as honorable men. King Arthur then accepts,
but Sir Gawaincomes forward and takes it. Because of Sir Gawain being the striker,
he will have to come forward a year later. Sir Gawain will face many challenges
involving integrity on his pathway, will he pass or fail?... Show more content on

Clothed with the sash, Sir Gawain approaches no chapel, but hears loud noises.
Gawain calls out to the Green Knight as he comes forward. The Green Knight
grabs his sharpened ax to strike. Gawain was noticeable afraid, therefore he flinched
twice. The Green Knight sarcastically mentions, You can t be Gawain, Who s
thought so good. The Green Knight states that he never moved a muscle when Sir
Gawain came down. He only strikes three times, as he only hits once. As hard as he
hits, he doesn t hurt him. The hit only slits Sir Gawain s neck. The Green Knight
then confronts Sir Gawain. He admits that he was the Lord and him and his wife
staged to set him up. The Green Knight informs Sir Gawain that the sash he is
wearing is his. Although he failed to mention the sash, the Green Knight invites Sir
Gawain to celebrate New Year s with them. In embarrassment, Sir Gawain
Bra Informative Speech
Ah, the bra. This icon of femininity is no longer simply a functional piece of
clothing. The science of the bra has progressed incredibly, providing us with amazing
support and exceptional comfort that comes in all shapes, sizes, fabrics, and fashions.
Today we discuss the various bra types that are on the market. They range from the
flashy to the functional, from supportive to sexy, from novelty to nursing. Some
you are likely aware of. Others may be all new to you. So take a walk with us through
the wonderful world of the brassiere. You might just end up a little more bra savvy

The bra has special cups to hold breast prostheses, providing the appearance of natural
breasts.
The Enhancers
The padded bra is a traditional bra with a little extra padding in the cup linings. This
gives the appearance of slightly larger or fuller breasts.
The push up bra is designed for maximum cleavage enhancement. It has a unique
structure with considerable padding designed to push the breasts up and together.
Sometimes the padding is included in the lining, and in other cases, silicone or water
inserts can be inserted.
The minimizer bra is specifically for women with a very large bust generally over
34C. The minimizer bra compresses and shapes the breasts, not only making the
breasts appear smaller, but also providing greater comfort and support.
The bridal bra is a corset that shapes the waist to fit into a wedding gown. This bra
style promotes good posture and provides comfortable support for the breasts.
The Novelties
The shelf bra is little more than a band that runs beneath the breasts, covering little to
none of the breasts. This bra provides no support, and is more of a sexual clothing
How Does Shakespeare Present Ophelia
There s rosemary, that s for remembrance. / I pray you, love, remember (IV.v. 199
200). Ophelia giving out these tokens to her loved ones to cherish and remember
Polonius memory may have been a foreshadow into her own death. In The Tragedy
of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark by William Shakespeare, Ophelia puts on an antic
disposition when Hamletkills her father Polonius. Ophelia s mad state appears when
Hamlet breaks his promise to Ophelia in the intent to marry her. Ophelia panics
because she now feels dirty, used and impure. One may say that Shakespeare paints
Ophelia much older than she appears to be in reality. However, her young age
becomes clear by seeing how she copes with her father s death. I believe that her

Hamlet responded enraged, Get thee to a nunnery (III. i. 130), Hamlet s reaction

the top. She doesn t have Hamlet to lean on anymore, since his rejection of her and
feels all alone. Ophelia then begins to act out, eventually drawing attention to her.
Ophelia s promiscuous demeanor to the guards and random singing in the halls
provokes an immense sign of distress in my opinion. She makes known of her
anger towards the court by not performing proper social conduct to her peers,
because they put Polonius in the ground without another thought, ...I would / Give

Ophelia s performance in King Claudius s chair became an obvious cry for
attention. Distributing a bouquet of flowers to her loved ones signifies her feelings
and warns those around her that she no longer has the will to live because her father
Similarities Between Calgary And Makkah
Recently, I have observed that people all over the world act differently. For
example, someone from The Calgary, Canada would behave differently then
someone from Makkah, Saudi Arabia because of several reasons. Personally, I
believe that culture, geography, and climate play a major role in determining how
people act. The similarities and differences between Calgary and Makkah are very
obvious.
An essential point that affects the way people behave is, culture. Calgary is very
multicultural city, there are people from all over the world who have different
cultures and religions. On the other hand, everyone in Makkah is Muslim so
everyone there essentially has the same culture. Culture affects how people act
because of religion and clothing. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Calgary, the climate is very humid and it averages daily temperatures of 16.5 В°C
in July to в€’6.8 В°C in December. In contrast, Makkah has a hot desert climate and it
maintains its warm temperature in winter, which can range from 18 В°C at night to
30 В°C in the day. Summer temperatures are extremely fiery, often being over 40
В°C during the day and 30 В°C at night. Climate, affects things such as clothing,
sports, cars, and houses. In Calgary, the climate fluctuates quite a lot, but around
summer time most people will be wearing t shirts and shorts whereas in winter they
would be covered up with a warm jacket, mittens, toque, a scarf. Furthermore, in
summer the soccer season would be played outdoors but because of the climate in
winter we have indoor soccer season. In addition to that, the cars that are on the
streets during the summer are usually sedans, but in winter people are driving huge
trucks. Also, in Calgary the houses are very insulated because it can get very cold
outside in winter, since the houses are insulated the people don t feel how cold it is
outside at all. In addition to that, the houses have double garage doors showing the
significance of a car. On the other hand, in Makkah, the temperatures remain warm
so people usually wear quite thin clothing. Sports in Makkah would be played
outside because there is no need to go inside. The cars that are on the roads in
Makkah stay the same because there is no change in the seasons besides the
temperature. The houses in Makkah are concrete and not insulated because it is
already warm. In summary, we can agree that climate affects how people
Ankle Sprains Research Paper
It s challenging to prevent repeat ankle sprains but it is possible. Unfortunately, with
each occurrence it gets more likely it will happen again. The tendency increases
because the passive stability structures, the ligaments, become loose. The key then is
to optimize the other stability structures.
Sprains typically happen in a side to side direction. The first step is to make sure
that you have the best possible motion in the front to back direction. Stretch the
calves and Achilles tendon to make sure you have good dorsiflexion (toes up towards
knees).
Next, work on balance activity to get the muscles around the ankle working as well
as possible. Start with simple single leg balance with the foot in a good position with

To finalize the process, you will need to progress the stabilization exercises to
include the hip muscles and movements which the ankle decelerates movements in
multiple directions. This is where the skilled advice of a corrective exercise
specialist will become necessary.
Once you sprain your ankle you are more likely to do it again. To strengthen your
ankles do range of motion exercises. Try writing the alphabet with your ankle, so
that you are moving the ankle in all directions. You can also get rubber
strengthening bands and perform the same exercises with resistance. Single leg toe
raises, where you go up on your tiptoes while standing on one leg might also help.
You should be able to do this 10 times in a row without any problem. Physical
therapy can also sometimes be helpful if you do not feel you are making progress on
your own.
It is important to improve ankle dorsiflexion after an ankle sprain. Research
indicates a loss of ankle mobility with chronic ankle sufferers primarily in ankle
dorsiflexion which is the motion you need to walk correctly. Reserach also indicates
a change in muscle control patterns not only in the ankle but also up the kinetic
chain, such as a loss of hip
Deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest Essay

its own interests to the detriment of others. Deforestation in the Amazon has led to
conflicting interests in the Amazon region. Potentially it can affect societies

Deforestation in the Amazon benefits some people at the moment. It also causes

In Brazil, there is a huge inequality between the rich and the poor 1% of the
population owns 45% of the land. Large areas of the Amazon rainforest have been
destroyed as governments have tried to develop it to make Brazil a better country.
Some estimates suggest that a fifth of the Amazon rainforest was cleared between
1960 and 1990. It is also estimated that approximately 7.5 million hectares of
rainforest are being cut down each year. This is extremely unlikely to be replaced.
The Amazon rainforest is in extreme danger. Developments such as deforestation are
proving to be a huge problem.
Developments that have taken place
Numerous types of developments have taken place in the Amazon rainforest. The
aim of this is to bring wealth to the area by using its natural resources. . A large
amount of iron ore, gold, copper, bauxite and other minerals have been discovered
in the rainforest. Mining companies have cut down trees to get to these deposits.
An example of this is the Carajas Iron Ore Project; this is what led to highway
building. A lot of new roads have been built in the rainforest for transport and
commuting. The longest is the Trans Amazonian Highway, a 5300km (3300miles)
long road, built across Brazil from east to west. Other major highways, which were

Odysseus As An Epic Hero
Lance Armstrong once said, Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or
a day, or even a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its
place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever . This quote resembles that one of the most
important qualities of a hero is persevering through rugged obstacles. As the quote
refers to time, Odysseuss journey took 20 years to accomplish and throughout it he
faced many trials, showing how great heroes are made up of those trials in life.
Throughout the Odysseywritten by Homer, Odysseus journeys home to Ithaca and
throughout the journey, he gains qualities of an epic heroby facing and overcoming
numerous challenges.
Odysseus shows he is an epic hero by persevering through his crews betrayal of
him by the opening of the sack of air from Aeolus. With home in sight and
Odysseus sleeping, his men open the bag of wind thinking that it contains gold and
silver. The author explains, The bag of wind thus escapes and blows the ship all
the way back to Aeolus s island (Homer 10). Odysseus men betray him, by causing
Odysseus to navigate the crew all the way back to Ithaca again. Therefore, Odysseus
men betray him and go behind his back. He perseveres and sticks with them and
starts the voyage again to return home. He has to navigate to Ithaca all over again.
Odysseus handles many major setbacks and huge obstacles along his journey. For
instance, when the laestrygonians hurl boulders at Odysseus ships
The Effects Of Smoking On The Baby
In the world today, it is becoming more socially acceptable to smoke while
pregnant. It has gone as far as some doctors telling their patients to continue to
smoke while pregnant. Do mothers that decide to continue to smoke while pregnant
really know all the negative short and long term effects it has on their baby? The
fact that this is becoming more accepted in today s world to smoke while pregnant
is completely unacceptable. The list of negative effects that smoking while pregnant
have on the baby range from premature labor to brain defects. Clinical studies have
proven the negative short and long term effects that smoking while pregnant can
have on a baby. Smoking while pregnant should be illegal, due to the amount of
negative effects it has on the baby. One of the most common effects of smoking
while pregnant is premature labor. A premature birth is any birth before 37 weeks of
pregnancy. Premature labor is one of the leading causes of neonatal deaths. Around
15% of babies born premature die within the first month. In the article Associations
between Passive Maternal Smoking during Pregnancy and Preterm Birth: Evidence
from a Meta Analysis of Observational Studies the authors point out that smoking
tobacco while pregnant is a contributing factor for premature birth (Cui, Hong 4 5).
Some doctors will tell the patients not to quit smoking only to cut back as much as
they can because quitting suddenly could cause too much stress on the mother s
body. This is a valid

we rarely acknowledge where they originate from or even don t have the foggiest

Examples Of Theoretical Perspective On Family
Theoretical Perspectives of the Family
There are multiple lenses in which we can view the family unit. To gain a clearer
understanding of our families we develop theories to explain certain phenomenon
within the family. These theoretical perspectives include the psychodynamic theory
of families, family stress and coping perspective, family resilience perspective and
the family systems perspective. Throughout the course of learning about the
family life cycle, I ve examined these perspectives of family in relation to my own.
I ve noticed elements within each perspective that parallel my own personal theory
regarding my family. One perspective that I did not thoroughly examine was the
theory of resilience in the family. Resilience in the family is typically measured
when a family undergoes a major crisis, such as the loss of a loved one or
unemployment (Patterson, 2002a). In terms of research, there is some disagreement
as to whether family resilience should be measured in terms of how capable is the
family in overcoming such stressors, or measured in terms of the process which is
most commonly studied (Patterson, 2002b). For the purposes of the family
genogram, I did not find it helpful to study this theory in relation to my own family.
Instead, I focused on the family perspective of coping with stress.
From a young age, my parents stressed the importance of viewing our family as a
team. When one person is facing difficulty, everyone is responsible for making sure

Persuasive Essay On Michelle Obama
The one leader s commitment to the field of healthcare I would estimate on is
Michelle Obama. Michel would characterize her administration style as the First
Lady of the United States, by utilizing her position in people, in the generals eye to
address the issue of adolescence obesity. Her program Let s Move!, propelled in
2010, was focused on closure the epidemic of adolescence obesity in one era.
Today, 33% of all kids in the United States are overweight and will probably
confront diabetes or other obesity related medical issues later in their lives. The
First Lady requested that Americans consider how national uses on weight related
conditions, at present about $190 billion every year, will increase if the condition
of the country s wellbeing doesn t change. The Let s Move! program was intended
to handle the issue by instructing parents; establishing access to nutritious, moderate
nourishment; providing healthy foods in schools; and urging children to be all the
more physically active. The program started to see improvements in the spring of
2014, when the Center for Disease Control detailed a 43% drop in rates of obesity
among 2 to 5 year olds (Retrieved May 18, 2017 from, http:/
/www.masterspublichealth.net/30 most influential people in public health).. A focal
test for a leader, in healthcare services administrations and earlier periods, is the way
by which to alter three fundamental segments of the relationship to pass on regarding
successfully and sensibly:
Causes Of Small Enterprise Development
Eddison (2015) indicated that the most common causes of MSE failure were lack of
government financing, lack of coaching and counselor and high attention rates and
taxes. The study recommended that the South African Government should review its
MSEs governing policies and make them more elastic towards MSE establishment.
Government should also create transparent contact channels between start up MSEs
and bigger organizations within the same field of interest and also sponsorship for
additional studies to be conducted based on MSEs failure (Eddison 2015).
To prosper, small enterprises need comfortable business environment and regulations,
adequate basic infrastructure services, access to short and long term financing at
reasonable rates, equity and venture capital, advisory support, and knowledge about
market opportunities (LukГЎcs, 2005). They typically suffer from weak
entrepreneurial skills as well as deficiencies in accounting, production management,
and business planning. As small enterprises develop, they increasingly need
connectivity to export markets and the world economy (LukГЎcs, 2005).
So far, the lessons of international experience show that very few government and
donor initiatives have succeeded in implementing sustainable strategies for small
enterprise development. To succeed, sustainable small enterprise development will
require concerted efforts among the various parties concerned, including commercial
and rural banks, leasing companies and equity
The Importance Of Sociological Imagination
The sociological imagination to me is how a person connects with their
environment and how they interact with their peers. Charles Wright Mills wrote
this work to inform people about the relationship between society and individual
people. This theory has to do with how different scenarios and outcomes come from
a person s surroundings throughout life. A person s sociological imagination shapes
who they are to become. Growing up I have always been interested in playing and

The Status Of Women In Algonquian Society
The status of women is directly tied to the culture in which they live in. Mary
Jenison lived in both english colonies and with indians, she analyzed both societies
and women s role in both. John Winthrop documented the 1600 s view on women
through his journal. The status of women in Algonquian and Iroquoian society. The
Europeans viewed the structure of Native American society lacking the complexity
of their own community. Their drawings and accounts of the Indian people reveal
that the tribe s division of labor and gender roles were actually very advanced,
especially where the status of women was concerned. Since married women in
Europe held few rights to their property, family wealth, or even children, women of
the tribes had greater independence and discretion over their produce, conditions of
labor, and property. Native women even served as representatives in the tribal
councils, and held rights over the land they worked. This demonstrates that although
women s work was belittled in European cultures, Native women s daily contributions
were recognized by Native men and the tribe as a whole as vital to the prosperity of
the community and worthy of respect. Analyzing the condition of women in America,
a woman s status in their community was directly related to the social hierarchy,
religious culture, and natural environment in which they lived, and that the
combination of those ingredients varied vastly across the continent. In the english

Standard Based Learning And Its Impact On Education
Standard based learning has led to the demise of public education for years. Standard
based learning is an educational system that measures students achievement and
mastery of skills by their performance on assessments. Institutions that implement
standard based learning use learning standards that explicitly describe what students
should theoretically know and what lessons that educators should teach. The learning
standards were created to define the adeptness of the students, ensure the retention of
information, and the acquisition of the appropriate skills. Law makers tend to believe
that standards will make the educational system a better place. With each political
campaign a new educational reform is presented and it usually... Show more content

Southerland cite that NCLB was an improvement policy that required, ... greater
accountability to improve students achievement scores on statewide administered
summative tests for both teachers and school systems. (Aydeniz 234). This can be
said for all of the political reforms the agenda is to improve the test scores not the
education of our children Educators are not only limited financially but they are
deprived to the freedom to actually educate their students. Standards are subjective
requirements that tend to hinder the true abilities of students and educators; no
student is the same therefore it seems almost impossible to require every student to
be able to comprehend on the same levels.
In order to measure student competency evaluations are given. These evaluations
formally known as standardized tests are not only used to measure students wit they
are also used to give an indication of the educators performace.Standardized tests are
the main focus for many educators in state funded public schools. Criterion
Referenced Competency Tests, End of Course Tests, Graduation Tests, Milestones
and state writing tests seem to all have one thing in common; they are used to
determine the amount of money schools will receive. Education is yet another pawn
in the political revenue game. The success rate of the schools determine the amount
of funds that they receive from the government, meaning that if a school does not
meet qualifications then their
The Joy Luck Club Themes
In the film The Joy Luck Club , author Amy Tan clearly demonstrates various
different themes throughout her work. The film itself is truly compelling. Tan shows
how discrimination can take control of an individual s life. Amy Tan amazingly
showed her audience the struggles that took place and she creatively crafted her life
into an amazing film. . Each character had their own flaw. Primarily, prejudice and
discrimination resulted in character flaw.Chinese women often faced prejudice and
discrimination throughout the film. Each character had their own flaw. Many
examples of discrimination added to the plots in the film and also the setting. For
example the film shows that men discriminated women, women discriminated

Consequently, many of these challenges led to Chinese women lacking self
confidence because of how cruel and unfair they were treated. Moreover, the women
in The Joy Luck Club experienced discrimination in their own country and from their
own people. Identically, the characters also encountered the same challenges in a
completely different country and from a completely different origin of people.
Furthermore, many of their struggles began in China and later followed them to
America. Notably, many of these examples of discrimination and prejudice shown
throughout the film can also tie with feminism. One reason being that majority of
Chinese women faced a number of struggles and were eager to overcome them. In
one case, discrimination was the number one aspect to wrecking homes. For example,
because of discrimination within families, family members were often affected,
evidently as time went on family relationships strengthened. All in all, from watching
The Joy Luck Club film, I learned that discrimination came in many ways; men vs
women, women vs women, and Americans vs Chinese
Impact Of The Aviation Industry On Unplanned Events
That...
2.0. introduction: The purpose of this report is to outline 3 significant changes made
to the aviation industry due to unplanned events that have occurred in the last 20
years. 3 factors/events that have influenced changes in the commercial aviation
industry will be thoroughly investigated. 3.0. The events: 1.|UAV incident A drone
used to film the grand final between Australia and New Zealand crashed just south
of an arena in Melbourne. The ATSB found that radio frequency interference was the
cause of the crash. (TURF MATE , 2016)The possible effects of an increased volume
of radio frequency, mainly due to the use of mobile phones and broadcasting stations
at the arena were the major contributing factors leading to... Show more content on

After collecting more than a million pieces of debris investigators found that the
fire came from the planes in flight entertainment network. Vulnerable Arcing wires
above the cockpit set fire to the flammable fuselage insulation causing it to spread
rapidly. (CBC News , 2013) 4.0. Future implications: 1. Due to this accident and
many other UAV incidents CASA has responded to this issue by enforcing and
creating new rules when operating a drone. This year 2016 CASA has introduced
strict rules for drone operators such as, drones being kept more than 30 metres
away from other people and must not be flown over crowds at beaches or sporting
events. (Digital life, 2016). Drones also need to be operated in daylight where the
operator can see them and should be kept for at least more than five kilometres
from airports while staying below 121 metre height limit. CASA also made deals
with major drone companies to include the regulations inside each box and also
covering the importance of appropriate operational controls and procedures
covering drones. (RPAS, 2016) These strict rules are not only because of the
increasing numbers of incidents but because of the increasing number of drone s in
the air. Anybody can purchase a drone from fifty dollars to thousands of dollars
making it such an affordable and accessible toy. Because they are airborne objects
drones represent threats to people and property. Especially when faults occur in
equipment or in the
Asoka Dbq Analysis
Asoka the dirty ruthless conqueror or an amazing, enlightened ruler. Asoka was
the ruler of the Mauryan Empire. He has killed many innocent lives, but he also
gave rich gifts to the poor after he sought forgiveness of his wrong doings. There is
one question many people ask and that is, is Asoka a ruthless conqueror or is he an
enlightened ruler? Asoka is an enlightened ruler because he brought welfare of the
world ,he seeked forgiveness, and Asoka agrees with nonviolence. First of all , He
brought welfare of the world. In Document C , Asoka s Awakening it states Asoka
gave rich gifts to the poor. This quote means that Asoka had to be an enlightened
ruler to give RICH gifts to the poor. If he was a ruthless ruler, he probably wouldn t
have given such good gifts to the poor, maybe even no gifts at all . Another
example of Asoka showing welfare to the world is located on document D , The

An example of this is shown here on document C it states Asoka goes on a
pilgrimage seeking a guru a teacher. And by the river he met a Buddhist monk and
the monk told him to sit beneath the Bodhi tree where the Buddha had found
enlightenment. This means that Asoka felt remorse for his wrong doing. Asoka
felt bad enough to make him think he needs forgiveness so he sought for someone
to help. If Asoka was a ruthless ruler he probably wouldn t have cared at all.
Another example of Asoka seeking forgiveness is located in document E it states
The beloved of the gods (Asoka) believes that one who does wrong should be
forgiven as far as it is possible to forgive him. This quote means that Asoka believes
this because he was forgiven himself. He thought if he could get a second chance
everyone should. If Asoka was a ruthless ruler Asoka would have never sought
forgiveness, which would lead to him not being forgiven, which would lead to him
not allowing second
A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Wastewater...
Executive Summary Severodvinsk has its economy based on industry, mainly in
shipbuilding yards, civilian vessels construction and repair, manufacture of marine
tools and the most important submarine, nuclear submarines and military equipment.
Severodvinsk is situated on the shore of two different water sources: White Sea and
Northen Dvine River. There are around five months with relative high temperatures
when the snow will melt, raising the volume of river and sewage. Saying that
separate system is useful to guarantee a low variation of flow into the sewage. The
unit will be based on a preliminary, primary, secondary and tertiary treatments as for
this project the pre treatment for industrial wastes will not be considered, even though

Saying that, some assumption must be taken. The design is supposed to meet the
demand of whole year with low variation of efficacy. Waste water treatment plants
consists on a series of processes and units to produce a specific effluent of known
composition and flow rate. These treatments are essential to deal with domestic,
industrial and agricultural contaminations and pollutants mainly considering solids
of organic nature. The main focus on this design will be organic compounds in the
domestic waste water BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total
Suspended Solids). Based on the Royal Commission for UK and Ireland the
concentrations of effluents to be disposed on receiving water are 20mg/L for BOD5
and 30mg/L for TSS as theses parameters apparently would not cause any harm and
will not be favourable for other process such as eutrophication. Considering that
Severodvinsk is situated close to the Dvina River and White Sea these concentrations
does not need to be highly restricted once that there is plenty of water available for
further dilutions. Is important to have in mind that low parameters involves high
investments in processes and equipments. Before start designing the processes itself
is essential to understand the flows and concentrations of BOD5 and TSS that are
running into the units. Some

  • 2. Reddi Wip Argument Essay Whether it be after a large meal and everyone has cleared their plates and the dessert utensils are coming out, one product seems to always be in conjunction with the desserts themselves, whipped cream. Whipped cream goes splendidly well with any type of dessert. But there is one brand of whipped cream that is better than the rest, favored by most Americans and most well know. That brand is Reddi Wip. Reddi Wip was invented in 1948 and still has a large impact on the dessert world today. All one needs to is place heavy whipping cream into a bowl and whatever flavoring desired into a bowl and start whisking. After a couple of minutes the contents of the bowl will be look light and airy. Now one would think that was how the cans of Reddi Wip are prepared, but with the advances of technology that is not the case. Cans are filled with the machine stirred ingredients. Although the main ingredient is still cream in this process the product would not be as popular if all it had was cream. The second main ingredient is sugar, although each flavor of Reddi Wip has less than two percent of the recommended grams of sugar per serving, with thirty seven servings in one six and a half ounce can. After all the miscellaneous ingredients are added there comes a very specific ingredient, this allows the contents of the can to be spun around to release the favored topping. Nitrous oxide is a chemical that is primarily used for doctor performed surgical purposes, to put the patients asleep while they are being operated on. But once placed in a can with cream and sugar it helps whirl the ingredients together to create the whipped goodness that we place onto our desserts. Through technological breakthroughs Reddi Wip has been able safely add minimal amounts of this chemical to their product to enhance it to create the desired whipped and light form they intended

Persian Empire: The Persian Empire was one of wealth and splendor based in Iran and the Persian Gulf. From 557 to 331 B.C.E., it spanned from Egypt to the Indus River. Through conquests, 35 million people came to live under Persian rule. This empire was heavily influenced by previous civilizations, like Babylon and Assyria. Monarchs with absolute, unquestionable power ruled the empire. Ahura Mazda, a Persian god, assigned this authority to the rulers. Because The Persian Empire was so large, it shaped cultures with its taxes, translators, coins, and canals. (Political, Interaction, Cultural) 2. Ashoka: Ashoka was a monarch of India, ruling from 268 to 232 B.C.E. during the Mauryan Empire. Unlike Alexander the Great and Shihuangdi, Ashoka ruled with more liberal policies, adopting the principles of Hinduism and Buddhism. His reign was short lived, and his death marked the end of the Mauryan Empire. (Political, Cultural) 3. These academies spread Chinese values throughout the entire empire and secured them up until the early 1900s. The fall of the Han Dynasty indirectly came from the Yellow Turban Rebellion of 184 C.E. Peasants were being forced into tenant farming by wealthy families, leading many peasant revolts. As conquests continued, The Chinese Empire grew increasingly large in size, making it difficult to enforce rules and collect taxes. This caused a weak central government. Eventually, the empire became vulnerable to outside attacks, and fell. (Political,
  • 4. Analysis Of Paul Auster s The Country Of Last Things The way characters act in novels can typically reflect the actions of our own world today. In The Country of Last Things by Paul Auster, situations present themselves in the story that normally show how humans would react in our world today. The protagonist of the story, Anna Blume, as well as many minor characters introduce the realities of dealing with real problem. As we explore Anna s journey of finding her missing brother, William, readers encounter the tragedies that a dystopian world has to offer. At every corner, events such as theft, famine, and death exist. Her expedition was a rough one that leads to trouble physically and mentally. Food, one of the most essential items to keep humans alive, is scarce; the people adapt to the famine and survive on the basis of preserving the livelihood of their own family. Theft has become so rampant that no one even considers it a crime anymore and people welcome death with open arms through suicide or assassination. Looking for shelter becomes a difficult task when Anna tries to find a place to call home because it would only last momentarily. As a result, the novelshows the true nature and well being of humans and tackles the idea that we act based on situations that would only benefit ourselves. Death is an ever occurring event that happens rampantly throughout the novel. The grandson of Dr.Woburn, Willie, shows his reaction to the death of a family member. His grandfather, being one of the influential beings in his life,
  • 5. The Red Badge Of Courage Essay Henry Fleming s character changed several times throughout The Red Badge of Courage. These changes showed how Henry became a man and how he gained the confidence and courage required to be a soldier. In Chapter 1, Henry is completely engaged in his own thoughts. He daydreams about his farm, his home, and the conversation he had with his mother. This shows that, at the beginning of the novel, Henry is excited and has unrealistic ideas of glory. He is a dreamer. He doesn t think of death, especially not the possibility of his own death. In Chapter 2, Henry starts to connect with the other soldiers in his regiment. He listens to the soldiers talking the enemyand the coming battle. As he listens to these stories, Henry doesn t know if they are all true and because he doesn t know if they are true and whether or not to believe them, he starts to become afraid. He keeps his feelings to himself, separating himself from the others. In Chapters 3 and 4, Henry s fears and doubts are increased by rumors from soldiers. At this point in the novel, he has seen battles but has not been part of one yet. Henry s fear of not knowing what will happen grows because he has not seen the enemy. His fear of the unknown is greater than the idea of having to face the problem head on. The first major character change that Henry made was in chapter 5. It is the first day of the first battle for Henry and the other soldiers. As he forgets his doubt and fears about how he performs, he stands tall and

  • 7. The Critical And Conceptual Inquiry In the early 1950 s, Ludwig Wittgenstein (1953) openly condemned psychology as a discipline plagued with conceptual confusion, and rife with experimental methods that are often completely irrelevant to the problems they set out to solve. Although written over half a century ago, Wittgenstein s criticism actively reflects the distinct conundrum of modern day psychology, in which expeditious empirical expansion is coupled with conceptual and theoretical turmoil (Hacker, 2007). Despite this ambiguity, the advancement of contemporary experimental techniques continues to cultivate a naГЇve, unjustified assurance in the status of psychology as a physical science. Openly condemning metatheoretical psychologists , the proposition under scrutiny is directly representative of the common neglect of philosophical investigation within the scope of contemporary psychological research. Irony lies in the fact the critical and conceptual inquiry undertaken by such philosophical types is imperative in the formation of factual, scientific theories (Boag, 2011). In this sense, I will argue that to label metatheoretical psychologists as cowboy builders is absurd. They do not tear down edifices in the lust for destruction as suggested by the premise at hand, instead, they play a much more important role by providing conceptual critique in the hope of theoretical improvement and stability (Noaparast, 1995). Abstract analysis such as this can prove helpful in exposing conceptual

The orchestra featured four pieces, Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Minor composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Petite Suite composed by Claude Debussy arranged by Henri Busser, Overture to La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie) composed by Gioachino Rossini, and Overture to Le roi d Ys composed by Edouard Lalo. The first piece of musicperformed was the Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Minor. The melody of this piece was very conjunct and smooth. The pitches fit together well and were played staccato, but in the Air, portion the melody became more legato. Since a suite is a collection of dances this is very metric. It is very easy to find a beat and tap your toe to the beat. Every movement of this suite was very easy to find the beat. I believe the piece was in a quadruple meter because the continuo, played by the double bass, could be counted into four. The dynamics were very moderate staying within the range of forte and piano, which is typical of the baroque period when this piece was written. The piece was polyphonic and each section had their own parts that worked together to make the piece. The piece could also be considered a call and response in the Bouree and Gigue movements. The violins and woodwinds would play a part of the melody and then the brass and bass would come in with a short response to their melody. The next piece performed was Petite Suite

I also determined that at 1700 mL, the flow rate allowed for the water to drain nearly 100 mL over the 5 seconds recorded. If I used a value that was less than 100 mL, I would find that one trial would go into another trial. I chose use a period of 5 seconds for a few reasons. This period allows us to collect a vast range of data for the amount of drainage, between the values of 27 and 96 mL. If I used a longer duration, like for instance, 10 seconds, I would find that the amount of water drained would be roughly between the values of 50 and 200 mL, which would go into the other trials. The reason why I did not choose a value less than 5 seconds was because such a small value would greatly amplify the problem of my reaction time. As I do with every book before I read it, I looked up this novel on Goodreads to get a sense of what I was in for. To my satisfaction the book had many positive reviews acclaiming it as a gripping novel of historical importance. I found the summary intriguing. I had never before heard of the orphan trains. It is an event that has slid mostly unnoticed through time, but it is a part of America s history and deserves to be known. Just the fact that Orphan Trainwas a historical fiction novel about an event that I had known nothing about was enough for me to become invested in the book. Upon reading it, I was not disappointed. The plot was enticing and the characters were relatable. Though I would have liked to see further character development of Molly, I liked that we were learning Vivian s story through Molly s community service hours and portrait project. This allowed us to see how Vivian s life unfolded beyond the orphan trains and her budding relationship not only with Molly but also with the daughter she gave up long ago. The lack of attention on Molly did make it seem like she was a side character to Vivian. That may have been the author s intent, but it made me care much more for Vivian and her story as opposed to Molly s story. Vivian s life was such a train wreck it was hard to stop reading. Literature is often defined as writing that evokes empathy in the reading. Christina Baker Kline certainly achieved that with her novel. Even the beginning of the book where Niamh was living as a poor immigrant with an alcoholic father and a depressed mother made me want to pluck her out of the book and offer her a nice meal and a warm bath. My favorite part of the story was when she was living with Miss Larson and Mrs. Murphy. This seemed to be the time when she was the happiest. Despite Dorothy s happiness, she knew she could not stay. I was glad she finally found a family to care for her, even if she could not fully love them. Like many others I was grieved by Dutchy s loss and despondent over Vivian s decision to give up their child. However, I did understand her decision even if I did not agree with it. The book was depressing as

For example, someone from The Calgary, Canada would behave differently then someone from Makkah, Saudi Arabia because of several reasons. Personally, I believe that culture, geography, and climate play a major role in determining how people act. The similarities and differences between Calgary and Makkah are very obvious. An essential point that affects the way people behave is, culture. Calgary is very multicultural city, there are people from all over the world who have different cultures and religions. Summer temperatures are extremely fiery, often being over 40 В°C during the day and 30 В°C at night. Climate, affects things such as clothing, sports, cars, and houses. In Calgary, the climate fluctuates quite a lot, but around summer time most people will be wearing t shirts and shorts whereas in winter they would be covered up with a warm jacket, mittens, toque, a scarf. Furthermore, in summer the soccer season would be played outdoors but because of the climate in winter we have indoor soccer season. In addition to that, the cars that are on the streets during the summer are usually sedans, but in winter people are driving huge trucks. Also, in Calgary the houses are very insulated because it can get very cold outside in winter, since the houses are insulated the people don t feel how cold it is outside at all. In addition to that, the houses have double garage doors showing the significance of a car. On the other hand, in Makkah, the temperatures remain warm so people usually wear quite thin clothing. Sports in Makkah would be played outside because there is no need to go inside. The cars that are on the roads in Makkah stay the same because there is no change in the seasons besides the temperature. The houses in Makkah are concrete and not insulated because it is already warm. In summary, we can agree that climate affects how people

The status of women in Algonquian and Iroquoian society. The Europeans viewed the structure of Native American society lacking the complexity of their own community. Their drawings and accounts of the Indian people reveal that the tribe s division of labor and gender roles were actually very advanced, especially where the status of women was concerned. Since married women in Europe held few rights to their property, family wealth, or even children, women of the tribes had greater independence and discretion over their produce, conditions of labor, and property. Native women even served as representatives in the tribal councils, and held rights over the land they worked. This demonstrates that although women s work was belittled in European cultures, Native women s daily contributions were recognized by Native men and the tribe as a whole as vital to the prosperity of the community and worthy of respect. (RPAS, 2016) These strict rules are not only because of the increasing numbers of incidents but because of the increasing number of drone s in the air. Anybody can purchase a drone from fifty dollars to thousands of dollars making it such an affordable and accessible toy. Because they are airborne objects drones represent threats to people and property. Especially when faults occur in equipment or in the
  • 43. Asoka Dbq Analysis Asoka the dirty ruthless conqueror or an amazing, enlightened ruler. Asoka was the ruler of the Mauryan Empire. He has killed many innocent lives, but he also gave rich gifts to the poor after he sought forgiveness of his wrong doings. There is one question many people ask and that is, is Asoka a ruthless conqueror or is he an enlightened ruler? Asoka is an enlightened ruler because he brought welfare of the world ,he seeked forgiveness, and Asoka agrees with nonviolence. First of all , He brought welfare of the world. In Document C , Asoka s Awakening it states Asoka gave rich gifts to the poor. This quote means that Asoka had to be an enlightened ruler to give RICH gifts to the poor. If he was a ruthless ruler, he probably wouldn t have given such good gifts to the poor, maybe even no gifts at all . Another example of Asoka showing welfare to the world is located on document D , The Edict of Asoka is states , The faiths of others all deserved to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this is shown here on document C it states Asoka goes on a pilgrimage seeking a guru a teacher. And by the river he met a Buddhist monk and the monk told him to sit beneath the Bodhi tree where the Buddha had found enlightenment. This means that Asoka felt remorse for his wrong doing. Asoka felt bad enough to make him think he needs forgiveness so he sought for someone to help. If Asoka was a ruthless ruler he probably wouldn t have cared at all. Another example of Asoka seeking forgiveness is located in document E it states The beloved of the gods (Asoka) believes that one who does wrong should be forgiven as far as it is possible to forgive him. This quote means that Asoka believes this because he was forgiven himself. He thought if he could get a second chance everyone should. If Asoka was a ruthless ruler Asoka would have never sought forgiveness, which would lead to him not being forgiven, which would lead to him not allowing second
  • 44. A Brief Note On The And Its Effects On The Wastewater... Executive Summary Severodvinsk has its economy based on industry, mainly in shipbuilding yards, civilian vessels construction and repair, manufacture of marine tools and the most important submarine, nuclear submarines and military equipment. Severodvinsk is situated on the shore of two different water sources: White Sea and Northen Dvine River. There are around five months with relative high temperatures when the snow will melt, raising the volume of river and sewage. Saying that separate system is useful to guarantee a low variation of flow into the sewage. The unit will be based on a preliminary, primary, secondary and tertiary treatments as for this project the pre treatment for industrial wastes will not be considered, even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Saying that, some assumption must be taken. The design is supposed to meet the demand of whole year with low variation of efficacy. Waste water treatment plants consists on a series of processes and units to produce a specific effluent of known composition and flow rate. These treatments are essential to deal with domestic, industrial and agricultural contaminations and pollutants mainly considering solids of organic nature. The main focus on this design will be organic compounds in the domestic waste water BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspended Solids). Based on the Royal Commission for UK and Ireland the concentrations of effluents to be disposed on receiving water are 20mg/L for BOD5 and 30mg/L for TSS as theses parameters apparently would not cause any harm and will not be favourable for other process such as eutrophication. Considering that Severodvinsk is situated close to the Dvina River and White Sea these concentrations does not need to be highly restricted once that there is plenty of water available for further dilutions. Is important to have in mind that low parameters involves high investments in processes and equipments. Before start designing the processes itself is essential to understand the flows and concentrations of BOD5 and TSS that are running into the units. Some
