Ratio Analysis On The Performance Of Business Organisations
Several academicians are moving towards elimination of ratio analysis as an analytical technique in
assessing the performance of business organisations. Theorists downgrade arbitrary rules of thumb,
which includes company ratio comparisons, widely used by practitioners. Since attacks on the
relevance of ratiooriginated from esteemed members of scholarly society, this poses the question if
ratio analysis is limited to the world of nuts and bolts ? Can we bridge the gap rather than sever the
link between traditional ratio analysis and the popular rigorous statistical techniques which is more
popular among academicians in recent years (Edward Altman 2012).
The Co operative is a group of people acting together to meet the common needs and objectives of
its members. The ownership of the businesses belongs to its members and decisions are made
dramatically by the group. The group are not about making big profits for its members, but believe
in creating value for its customers; this is what makes the co operative groups stands out amongst
its competitor s.
The Co operative Group was founded in 1844 in Rochdale Lancashire. By 1990, the group owned
over 1,400 independent separate co operative businesses in the UK, which all are members of the
wider Co operative Group; during this period most of these independent societies began to merge
to form a formidable force in both the retail sector and other food chains. The Group is the largest
mutual business in the UK, owned by eight

Ardennes Offensive Advantages And Disadvantages
The Allies faced various disadvantages during the Ardennes Offensive: пѓ Since the Allies had
reached the German border after the Normandy landings by this time, they faced an important
intelligence disadvantage. The Germans used only telephones and tele printers within the German
borders. Radios were not used as the Allies had cracked Enigma by then. пѓ The Allied aircraft
reconnaissance suffered due to the autumn fog and withheld them from making optimum use of air
power especially the tank busting Typhoons of the RAF or Mustang fighters from the USAAF
which would have been used against German tanks. Though the weather was typical for the
Ardennes in winter, the ground was hard enough for military vehicles to cross and this suited the
armored attack Hitler envisaged. пѓ Germans used charcoal instead of wood to reduce smoke
detection. The Battle of Bulge Military Situation maps: 16th December 1944 On the morning of
16th December, the Germans launched an attack on the Allied forces through the Ardennes. The
plan for Dietrich s 6th Army was for the three infantry divisions to punch a hole on either side of
Udenbrath, and then swing north west to form a hard shoulder facing north while the four armored
divisions drove through the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lack of fuel and manpower on the western front made it inevitable had the German offensive
would fall through unless Allied supplies could be captured intact and that was a long shot in
any case. Hitler had been defeated by Allied air superiority, by the defenders of Bastogne, by
poor coordination among his own forces (especially between the Fifth and Sixth Panzer
Divisions) and by a new weapon, the proximity fuse which could make a shell go off at a distance
from its target through the use of radars. However, in the end it was his extreme military belief that
attack is the best defense , that proved fatal to the German

George Arnold And George Herbert s Dover Beach And Easter...
Some might claim human suffering is a natural part of life. Others may argue pain is inevitable,
but suffering is optional. The speaker in Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach appears to shield from
the current state of despair in the living world through the glorification of personal relationships.
The speaker in George Herbert s Easter Wings appears to simply embrace the world s suffering as a
catalyst for Gods mercy, to bring strength and spiritual intimacy through Christ s crucifixion and
resurrection. Both speakers of Matthew Arnold s Dover Beachand George Herbert s Easter Wings
lament the current state of suffering in humanity. While the speakers may appear to have differing
beliefs, they both have hidden fears that place their hope in the afterlife. Arnold s Dover Beach
opens with a tranquil scene. A place where waves crash on the shoreline of the English Channel,
and a couple gazes out a window at the moonlit water. The speaker uses the imagery and sound of
pebbles in the surf to create a metaphor for the story of souls and the persistent, incremental decline
of faith that his culture has suffered. The poem ends with the suggestion of promulgating lovein a
world of violence and fear and pain. This is actually a metaphor, for God is love. When the
speaker promotes love between couples, this love is what will help prove their faith, not denounce it.
In Dover Beach, the speaker appears to blame the retrograde of the Sea of Faith (line 21) for the
world s

The Sociological Canon
The field of sociology has three sociologists who form the sociological canon, of whom many
theories, and strategies have formed how we look at society. Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile
Durkhiem all share a similar timeline when they were born, but even with that similarity these
sociologists saw the world in vastly different scopes which influenced their theories. These
contrasting values and theories show clearly in their work and has led to some of the most
influential works within the field, hence their place as the sociological canon. It is interesting to
see the contrasting nature between these very influential sociologists and will be the focus of
this essay. While looking at the three sociologists who make up the sociological canon it is
important to take into consideration how they view social order and social change. Karl Marx
used his theory of social class in order to explain how society structured itself (Bratton, Denham
2014). Marx theorized that classes were relational, exploitive, and conflictive in nature. Marx
explained social order, by way of the labour market and modes of production. His theories showed
a pessimistic but realistic view of how the system abuses and takes advantage of the working class,
and through strife the working class needed to empower themselves to grow and reach their
potential. Emile Durkheim theorized about the division of labour, which was a written work that
analyzed the relationship between social solidarity and the

My Learning Experience
In the last year, I have moved from New Jersey to New York to Iowa. Moving away from your
family is hard, but can be done by having a strong relationship with people and good friends.
Moving multiple times for the same reason, hockey, can be mentally and physically tough, but the
outcome and experiences that you will encounter will make up for it. Moving is hard but can be
overcome and can be viewed as a learning experience. Being born and raised in New Jerseyhas
impacted my life in a very special way. From kindergarten through eighth grade, I was in the
same school called St. Paul s, which is located in Princeton. I made some amazing friends during
my time in middle school. During this time, I was playing hockey for a team called The Little
Flyers, which was just outside of Pennsylvania. We were a remarkable team that won many games
and championships over the years. The coach was a former player in the National Hockey League
named Stephane Charbonneau. He was a special coach who had exceptional advice and
knowledge of the game. Two days out of the week, when I did not have team practice, I would
have goaltending lesson with a goaltending coach named George Bosak. George is one of my
favorite goalie coaches I have ever worked with. He has so much knowledge and love for the game.
After eighth grade when I graduated from St. Paul s, I had to make a decision: stay and play high
schoolhockey, go to Buffalo, New York or go to Canton Michigan to play and develop my skills as

Queen Victoria s Influential Reign Over the British Empire...
Queen Victoria is connected with Britain s economic progress, great age of industrial expansion,
and particularly, empire. Right at the moment of her death it was believed, Britain had a
worldwide empire on which the sun never set (Hibbert 3). Queen Victoria established the nature
of the British Empire for future monarchs by reigning through sequences of commanding prime
ministers who acquired political control of Britain. Queen Victoria was born on May 24 1819 in
London (Williams 24). The morning of June 20th, 1837 the king before Queen Victoria had seen
his last couple of days and Princess Victoria had become Queen Victoria. She had to quickly learn

With Prime Minister Lord Melbourne being her first political mentor, in 1840, this guidance would
be switched with that of Prince Albert. The British Population never grew to liking him very much.
Britain had been taking on the switch to a constitutional monarchy in which the ruler is set with
firm authorities and projected to continue above any politics party s. In 1857, after the Indian
Mutiny, control was transitioned from East India Company to that of the crowns. In 1861, the
death of her husband would establish her into mourning for the balance of her lifespan. Staying
out of the public eye completed her to be unpopular but then rebounded during the late 1870s and
1880s (Hibbert 15). In years time, the secluded influences of Queen Victoria s family and the
pleasing responsiveness of Benjamin Disraeli, Prime Minister in 1868, she slowly began to reclaim
her public responsibilities. During 1877, Queen Victoria had become the monarch of all India,
Canada, Austria, New Zealand, and large regions of Africa. During this instant in time Britain was
not heavily tangled in much European activities. Queen Victoria s magnificent Golden Jubilee took
place in 1887 and her astonishing Diamond Jubilee in 1897 were distinguished with excessive
passion. With a rebellion in British administration, massive manufacturing extension and the
evolution of a global kingdom, Alexandrina Victoria peacefully passed away on

Catullus Relationship Essay
In Catullus 2, it does not seem like Catullus and Lesbia have any kind of relationship at this
point, he seems to be admiring her from afar. This poem gives the impression that Catullus is
stalking Lesbia. He wishes to be the sparrow on Lesbia s lap as she is loving and affectionate
towards the sparrow. He wishes he could be with her and play with her like she does with the
sparrow. Catullus clearly desires Lesbia s affections and holds her in high regard at this point in
time.
In Catullus 5, Catullus and Lesbia have now entered into a physical relationship. In this poem,
Catullus brags about the many kisses they have shared and is rejoicing in their love. Catullus
beseeches Lesbia for her constant affections and believes that no amount of kisses from her would
ever be enough. He wants an infinite number of kisses. Catullus is besotted with Lesbia and
believes that nothing could go wrong at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He comes to the realisation that Lesbia is fickle and doesn t always mean what she says. A
positive sign in the relationship comes when Catullus states that Lesbia would choose to marry
him over anyone else, even Jupiter who is a God. It seems as though the tables have turned and for
once Lesbia feels more for Catullus than he does for her. Catullus and Lesbia s relationship is
tumultuous and their feelings for each other change rapidly constantly.
In Catullus 72, Catullus and Lesbia seem to have parted ways. This is a sad poem as Catullus
reveals that Lesbia has been with someone else but that his feelings for her remain. Once again
Catullus is reminiscing about the good times they shared together and the passionate love they had
for one another. Catullus asserts that Lesbia has injured him in such a manner that his is no longer
as friendly as he once was. He calls Lesbia insignificant which leads us to believe that he has given
up on her and their relationship in

Tacitus Equality
An example of a major source, which chiefly opposes the alternate interpretations provided by
numerous other sources, is evident through the portrayals delivered by Tacitus in the Annals which
contain a prospect of first century Rome, from Tiberius to Domitian. However in general, Tacitus
offers a vivid representation of the Roman Empire, and doesn t overlook the deadly exploitation and
inhumaneness of the time, especially in regards to Augustus. This same view is further supported as
Tacitusstates that the Protection of the laws were continually deranged by violence, intrigue and
corruption and that he, along with all of the Roman people, were Stript of equality... as they ...all

Free Will In Julius Caesar Research Paper
Throughout Shakespeare s Julius Caesar a series of events portray a path that leads to Caesar s
destiny being controlled by fate. Some may believe Caesar s destiny is controlled by Caesar and
his own free will since he makes many of his own decisions. Those people are incorrect for the
reasoning that no matter what Caesar or anyone else does, he would still end with the same
destiny. He would end up in the same place as he would even if he had not questioned anything, or
he had questioned everyone and everything more, Caesar would still end up being stabbed in the
back by enemies and old friends.
Although some think it is fate, others believe it was free will that controlled Caesar s destiny since
he made all of the choices on his own. Those believing that Caesar chose to refuse the crown
three times say Caesar s destiny is in his own hands. Ay, marry, was t, and he put it by thrice,
every time gentler than the last; (I, i, 225). By saying this, Caesar was making a decision on
whether or not he wanted to rule Rome. Some say his decision will decide his destiny, however no
matter what Caesar does, he will still be following his fate. Before his trip to the capitol, ... Show

of fate controlled by the gods. Alas, my lord, your wisdom is consumed in confidence. Do not go

he is full of himself. Caesar is too confident sometimes because of his ego and is willing to go

Immigration Policies And Naturalization Laws During World...
During the years between 1882 and 2000, immigration and naturalization were always important
issues for the United States. The United States stance on its policies and laws towards immigrants
and their naturalization saw drastic changes during this time period, which reasons ranges from
American s experience with the immigrants and the nation s changing relationship with other
countries. During the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the United Statestook a
restrictive approach on its immigration policies and naturalization law, mainly because of American
s fear of job competition with the immigrants, and also because of their racism. However, the
change in relationships between United States and other nations during World War II marked the
turning point of the nation s approach on those policies and laws, where the United States slowly
began to reopen its door of immigration. And in the late 20th century, the United States continued
its approach on open immigration policies and naturalization laws that began during World War II
due to the same reason, but at the same time the nation also passed restrictive policies towards
undocumented immigrants. During the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the
United States policies towards immigration and naturalization became more and more restrictive
due to American s fear of competition with immigrants for jobs and their buildup of racism towards
those immigrants. Chinese immigrants were the first

Gas Line Repair Fort Worth
For household s that depend on gas for heating, cooking and hot water, safe gas lines are
essential. If you are not a professional trained in gas line repair in Fort Worth, trying to work with
a gas line can be a dangerous and costly mistake.
Gas is a clean and efficient fuel that is relatively safe, but gas line leaks are extremely dangerous,

Franklin licensed plumber uses routinely.
For the homeowner, the best means to determine if you have a gas line leak is by the odor. An
additive is added to naturally odorless natural gas that is similar to rotten eggs. The scent is added
to help people identify a gas leak. If you detect the odor of gas, get everyone out of the house, and
when you are safely away from your home, and the odor of gas, call 911 and your gas provider.

The Life and Contribution to the Development of the British Empire of James Cook
I) Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to describe the life and the contribution to the development of the
British Empire of one of the most important English explorers. It was in the second half of the 18th
century when James Cook, originally a poor farm boy, explored and mapped vast uncharted areas
of the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean. However, James Cook was not only an explorer. He can also
be called a scientist he managed to introduce new principles into seafaring and cartography.
For better understanding, the paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is the

Such a structure of commerce enabled the immense growth of wealth of the country.
An imperial enthusiasm the British found out that they could grow rich from the trade with their
colonies. As a result it led to a constant, unending search for new markets for British products, new
trading centres and eventually, new lands to settle their surplus criminals and poor, unemployed
citizens.
New inventions in navigation these inventions had a profound influence, not only upon Britain, but
even upon much of the rest of the world. John Hadley s invention of the reflecting quadrant made
it possible to determine the latitude at noon or by night. Extremely accurate, it was quickly
adopted by the admiralty (1730). John Harrison s ship chronometer was to revolutionise the world
s shipping (1736). A new method of combating scurvy was found James Lind recommended to use
citrus juice (1747) and finally, John Campbell introduced the new sextant to the Royal Navy (1757).
All of these inventions helped to create Britain s naval supremacy.
A new philosophical approach the 18th century in Western Europe is the beginning of the Age of
Reason, the philosophers and scientists stressed the value of global discovery, of learning more
about the earth and of collecting unusual flora and fauna from around the globe.

The Importance Of Location In The Awakening
Location in The Awakening Location, location, location. People everywhere form their daily
routines based on location. People, past and present, are bound to the social customs and
expectations that are tied to where they live. Authors throughout history have used this fact to
symbolize conflicting mindsets or ideas. Kate Chopins novel, The Awakening, demonstrates this
metaphor perfectly. Through her characterEdna vacationing on the Grand Isle, then returning to
her old life in New Orleans, Chopin exemplifies how location is extremely impactful on one s
life and represents the conflict within. The Awakening begins on the Grand Isle where Edna
Pontellier and her family are vacationing. While there, Edna meets Robert Lebrun, and she feels
a special connection to Robert. Her time on the island s beach only intensifies her attraction
towards Robert as her more erotic side shines through. Because the beach acts as the backdrop for
her new, tempting nature, the Grand Isle represents Edna s change in mentality about how she is
living her life. The Grand Isle represents her freedom. Freedom from society and others telling her
what she is expected to do. The Grand Isle represents Edna s realization that she wants to lead a

How Does Antony Use Ethos In Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar essay Speaking to a group of people is troublesome, but striving to make them feel
and comprehend the purpose is even more complex. Pathos, ethos, and logos are rhetorical
strategies to persuade a crowd to feel a certain way. Speakers and writers use these devices to
pursue their point of view to an audience. When a speech makes the crowd feel a certain way or
makes them have an emotional connection to the topic then the speaker is using pathos. Logos is the
connection to logic. In other words the speaker makes correlations to make the crowd feel that the
point of the speech is logical. Ethosis credibility. The speaker therefor makes points in his or her

point he receives an emotional connection with the audience. As he mourns over Caesar s death
the crowd starts to feel the sadness from the death of their friend and leader Caesar. Antony
states in his speech, But yesterday the word of Caesar might have stood against the world; now
lies he there. And none so poor to do him reverence. In this instance he uses feelings to his
advantage. He states that yesterday Caesar was here and now he is dead and no one seems to
care that their once caring friends is gone. He is making them feel remorseful for dishonoring
Caesar. The crowd starts to feel the guilt on their shoulders. Antony uses guilt to his advantage. As
Antony expresses, Have patience, gentle friends. I must not read it; It is not meet you know how
Caesar loved you. You are not wood. You are not stones, but men; And, being men, bearing the
will of Caesar. he uses pathos in a palpable manner. He attracts the men s feelings and empowers
them by declaring them as men. He is explaining that the will will extricate emotions from them
because all humans have feelings. Pathos is an effective component in arguing to a group of people

Without physical therapy, there would not be as much positivity for Huntington s patients and
would be harder to live with this disease. However, there are other ways to help treat patients with
Huntington s such as using certain medications or drugs to decrease the progress of Huntington s.
Drugs that are used to help treat this disease include tetrabenazine, antipsychotic medication, and
benzodiazepines. These medications help to restrain the symptoms of involuntary movements from
this disease. The tetrabenazine medication assists in decreasing the amount of dopamine in the
body to extend to nerve cells within the brain, since this disease affects a part of the brain. It is
widely used to help treat Huntington s disease since it does help decrease the involuntary
movements that the body can have. Tetrabenazine has side effects of sedation, hypertonia, muscle
rigidity, depression, bradykinesia, restlessness, drowsiness and akathisia. (n.a. Tetrabenazine Side
Effects in Detail; n.d.) Benzodiazepine medication is used because it can help relieve irritability,
reduce anxiety, muscle relaxer, to treat seizures, and help with memory loss, which are some
symptoms of Huntington s. (Anderson. L., Benzodiazepines: Overview and Use. N.p.; 2014.) This
medication is also a class of psychoactive drugs that also helps stop a neurotransmitter known as
GABA from reaching the GABA receptor. GABA is a neurotransmitter that affects the central
nervous system by restraining nerve transportation to the brain and therefore calms nerve activity.
This neurotransmitter being prevented from reaching its receptor would help to decrease nerve
activity which would be good for people who have Huntington s disease because they have trouble
controlling movements within the body. Benzodiazepine would be a supplement because it helps
reduce the GABA from reaching its receptor.

Cross Country Oodgeroo Noonuccal Poem Analysis
Cross Country: A Book Of Australian Verse second edition was published in 1988. Edited by
John Barnes and Brian McFarlane. It contains a comprehensible and thought provoking selection
of Australian poetry from the early years of European settlement to the present. A common
thread that connects numerous poems in the Cross Country anthology is the contrast between
what the past was and what it is now. This is shown through the loss of aboriginal culture and
past times. Each poem expresses a different scenario or memory about the loss of indigenous
culture and how the past was a noble past, as compared to the present. Oodgeroo Noonuccal s We
are Going, portrays the deep feelings of loss shown through the poem towards the aboriginal
culture. The poem is written from a straightforward point of view that is easy to decipher. As the
poem progresses it goes through what the aboriginal community has lost because of the settlers

Historical Characters Of The Astell, Galileo, And Florence...
You want to believe it or not, but it was so. It was a raining, dull summer day, not typical for
South Jersey climate. I was rocking in my rocking chair on the porch while reading my Western
Civilization history book. I was on the 15 chapter, reading about outstanding historical characters
of the 17 century. I don t know if it was relaxing historical book, or atmosphere, created by the
weather, but I felt how I was drowning in sleep. Suddenly, I heard the loud noise coming from our
garage where my crazy brother was recently working on some mysterious machine. Hearing that
noise, I rushed into the garage where I found my brother screaming that he invented the time
machine. At first, I thought it was his imagination, but then he suggested... Show more content on

Astell s works inspired many women to follow her ideas. Mary wanted to create the institution that
would be oriented towards women personal development, where they would be able to become self
sufficient beings, both emotionally and intellectually. Her feminist innovation was to recommend
that women should educate themselves, look for ways to support themselves, and cultivate
friendships with other women rather than seeking shelter in the marriage and accepting their
husbands as the absolute authorities. Mary Astell and many other feminist philosopher and writers
of the Enlightenment period spoke out and made their voices heard on the issue of women being
educated.(Sowaal, A).
Making some noise, the time machine produced the bright light, through which I saw the feminine
outline. It was Mary Astell. Confusedly looking around, she came out from the light. Understanding
her astonishment and fright, I hurried to explain the situation. While I was trying to calm down

Essay On Communist Manifesto
The Communist Manifesto may be a merely ?? pages, but it sure packs a lot of punch for such a
small book. The main purpose of the Communist Manifesto was to convey the teachings of
communism. The Communist Manifesto seems like a weekend project for a couple of power
fighting , rebellious, and controversial citizens, but it still paved the way for modern day
communism. By power fighting , rebellious, and controversial citizens, I mean Karl Marxand
Friedrich Engels . The Communist Manifesto is more like a pamphlet people on bikes that show
up at your doorstep would give you, rather than a book. It basically states who they (Communists)
are and what they believe in. So, what do communists believe in exactly? Great question!
Communism is just a form of socialism. What is socialism? Another great question! Socialism is a
way of running a society where all businesses are socially owned(kind of makes since why it s
called socialism.). Democracy is a free enterprise, meaning anyone can start a new business and
grow it to be a billion dollar company. Thats why a lot of billion dollar companies are companies
started and ran from within the U.S. Companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook,
Twitter, Exxon, and many more are all companies started and raised in the U.S. Makes you proud

Essay Business Ethics
The stockholder and stakeholder theories are two popular frameworks used to examine the
purpose of business and its ethical obligations. With reference to the quote above, both theories
seem rational and enjoy strong support. However, a common failing of both is typically how
humans interpret and implement the theories in contemporary business environments. For
instance, Enron was so focused on the raising the price of their stock that they cooked the books
to produce fake profits 1. This paper will provide a description of each theory and, analyze ethical
justifications and major objections to each theory. The ethical justifications will be based on
pertinent examples policies and actions, of businesses such as Wal Mart. Based on this... Show more

The stock chart below illustrates how Wal Mart, one of the companies seen as being stockholder
focused, has benefited its stockholders immensely over the last three decades. Ethical theories
provide adequate support for the stockholder theory as detailed below. Entitlement theory
maintains that if someone acquires resources by just means they are entitled to those resources.
Stockholders who acquire ownership of a business by investing in it are therefore the owners of
the business and entitled to its profits. The entitlement theory also states that benefiting other
stakeholders at the expense of stockholder dividends is akin to stealing. Year after year, it has
been quoted that Wal Mart pays low wages and appears to aggressively seek to keep wages down
2. In this respect, Wal Mart s policy on employee wages seems to indicate that they respect the
stockholder rights over those of their employees. Utilitarianism theory holds the view that profit
maximization directly or indirectly maximizes benefits for the greatest number of people. Wal
Mart uses its retail clout to bring the lowest possible prices to its customers and the giant retailer
is at least partly responsible for the low rate of U.S. inflation 3. Wal Mart s legendary toughness in
dealing with suppliers forces them to improve every aspect of their operations and this can help
profit growth with other customers as well. Desert

Everyone s A Critic By Neil Gaiman
Everyone s a critic. We critique everything we see. We critique people s outfits, their sense of
style, and even how they write. Imagine putting stories or novels out there for everyone to see.
Well millions of writers get critiqued everyday on their writing especially Neil Gaiman. Neil
Gaiman s stories How To Talk to Girls at parties , Cinnamon , and Stardustall share one thing in
common that a feminist critique would point out: the poor portrayal of woman. A feminist critique
would point out the unfair bias or lack of equality. In all three of these pieces the woman are shown
in different light as men.
Neil Gaiman s short story How to meet girls at parties shows how Victor s attitude towards girls
was very disrespectful and demeaning. Before entering the party Victor had his eyes set on one
thing. Girls. Girls! Girls! Girls! He grinned with white teeth. He walked in and found exactly what
he s looking for, a beautiful girl. However throughout the story Vic would look at Stella as
property rather than an equal. He was standing with his arm around Stella, protectively, waving at
me. By placing his arm around Stella, he is trying to show the other boys at the party that Stella is
strictly his also, by showing her public displays of affection when he kisses her in front of
everyone. But, Enn had a very different experience at the party. Enn runs across a very strange girl,

The Unemployment Rate Is A Good Start
The unemployment rate has worried the Federal government since the collapse of 2008. The
biggest task of any Federal Reserve chairman has been to fix these crises. Over the last seven
years the Federal Reserve tried to get the job market on track. Many have said, when the
unemployment rate fell to 5.5 percent that this translated to a mission accomplished. I am sorry, but
this isn t a mission accomplished. The unemployment rate right now is a good start, but this is still
a great worry for most. Janet Yellen, my advice for you is think outside the box with the
unemployment rate. Yes, 5.5 is a perception, but think of all the people that aren t in the job market.
This number will increase greatly because of all the new students coming out of school. Also, try
taking into the account about the monetary and fiscal policy and how it will affect the tradeoff
between unemployment and inflation. This is a work in progress to help this country grow, we
should all stand together as one and help the job market.
As I begin to write what will help create jobs for the unemployed I must write about the monetary
policy. The monetary policy is an very unique policy that impacts inflation and can create a
worldwide demand for goods and services, which would create jobs. As a result, employees who
produce goods and services primarily through its influence on the financial demands face
troublesome include households and firms. The Federal Reserve also can affect financial

Museum Of Disability Essay
The Museum of Disability was very informative on displaying the progressive history of
individuals with disabilities. Prior to visiting the museum, I only knew that people with certain
disabilities perform in the circus, but did not know how badly they were being treated. People
often forget that those with disabilities are still human and have rights like any other human
being. The ways people perceive individual with disabilities have majorly progressed since the
Middle Ages until now. In the Middle Ages, those with disabilities were called idiots, which
meant they were ignorant or not well informed. Growing up with disabilities was hard during this
time. Many became street beggars, while a few served as jesters for the royal courts. In rural
areas, family used their disabled family members to help around the house. During the Renaissance

Osteoporosis Malady And Its Counteractive Action

As per World Health Organization (2004), osteoporosis is an illness that influences the casualty s
bones making them diminish in their thickness and be more powerless against crack. It has been
turned out to be specifically identified with the mass of bones that an individual figures out how to
accomplish amid both his/her adolescence and pre adult phases of life. Specialists have kept on
stressing the preventive way to deal with this sickness urging folks to guarantee that their
youngsters hone sound propensities which, as they accentuate, can actually lead them to breaking
their bones amid later phases of life. Such an awesome accentuation is put significantly in light of
the fact that the ailment has no cure. This review presents research discoveries on osteoporosis
malady and its counteractive action beginning from right on time youth.
As indicated by Lucas (2006), bones shape the system which permits the development of any kid.
He takes note of that bones, as living tissues, tend to change and that at whatever point this is
going on, specific bones are supplanted by the recently created ones. In his outline, he clarifies that
amid the two early phases of life, that is youth and immaturity, there is a bigger number of bones
being saved with the development of the skeleton than those which are being framed. He takes note
of that the kid s bone mass regularly increments till the kid achieves his/her 20s. As of right now,

Comparing Carnivores And The Immune System
Science Assessment
Question 1
The slice of apple enters the mouth, which is the first component of the digestive tract. Inside, the
teeth break the apple down into smaller pieces through chewing, which is a form of physical
digestion. The tongue moves it around in our mouth, and the salivary glands produce saliva which
mixes with the apple to begin the breaking down process, which is called chemical digestion. The
enzyme in the saliva, called amylase, begins breaking down starch from the apple into sugars such
as glucose. There also other enzymes in our mouth that begin the digestion process and these
include lipase, which digests the very small amount of fats in the apple; mucin which coats and
lubricates the food and bicarbonate ions which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A horse s stomach is small as it doesn t eat 3 large meals a day, instead it eats several smaller
meals. A herbivores stomach (including a horses ) is much smaller in comparison to a carnivore s
stomach as herbivores eat less in one go, therefore needing less processing of food at any one time,
resulting in smaller stomachs.
Liver: does not produce much uric acid.
Saliva: Contains digestive enzymes such as amylase which break down carbohydrates and starch
from the plant matter.
Large Intestine: Long, puckered and winding in order to slow down wastes with a high water
content, so there is time for the water and nutrients to be extracted from the waste and filtered back
into the bloodstream.
Mouth: developed, muscular tongue to move food around in the horses mouth as well as smaller
mouths and molar teeth to grind the food down into swallowable pieces.
A herbivore also has an enzyme which can digest cellulose, which is the main building block in a
plant s cell wall. Carnivores do not have this enzyme.

funds for an investment pool in order to buy large blocks of shares of major U.S. corporations at
prices that were above the current market. This stopped the slide that day and stabilized the
market. However, in the Pecora Commission investigation of the Wall Street crash it was
discovered that starting in September of that year Wiggin began selling short his personal

company to buy the stocks. Additionally, Wiggin accepted a $100,000 a year pension for life but
later declined the pension because of public uproar. All Wiggin s money was made legally at the

Cole Weston s Influence On Photography
Cole Weston was the fourth and youngest son out of all his famous brothers. He was inspired to
do photography from his other brothers, Brett Weston and Edward Weston. Unlike his brothers,
this younger brother was the fame of the 20th century. A 4 by 5 Autoflex camera from his older
brother, Brett, started his journey. Weston went to Cornish School in Seattle to graduate with a

probably learned a lot of things as a person and with his camera. Once he was done with the

Computer-Mediated Communication Use among Adolescents and...
This study uses a combination of two frameworks which are Self Determination Theory and
Uses and Gratification Theory. Both theories have been applied in a variety of disciplines from
psychology to media studies. Specifically, the SDT is concerned primarily with the satisfaction
of three psychological needs are essential nutrients for well being and self initiated actions.
These needs consist of: a) autonomy, refers to human agency or volition for one s action and

To understand why do people use media and what do they use them for, UG was applied to
understand gratification from media exposure. In the context of this theory, it posits that (1) the
social and psychological origins of (2) needs which generate (3) expectations of (4) the mass media
or other sources which lead to (5) differential patterns of media exposure (or engagement in other
activities), resulting in (6) need gratifications and (7) other consequences, perhaps mostly
unintended ones . It is assumed that media use is purposive and motivated, which users are active
rather than passive consumers of media.
This theory would then hold that media choice lies with the users in order to lead to desired
outcomes or goals. This notion can be literally defined as audience centered, and prompts a shift
from what media do to people to what people do with media . In so doing, users often evaluate
their available media options and should be likely to choose a medium that best fulfilling their
needs. It is likely that the degree of the users gratification obtained from the media exposure will
contribute to the continuance of media use. Taken together, these two theories give a clear
justification that individuals are always fully aware of what they are doing and proactive enough to
ensure their needs met and away from those that thwart need fulfillment. The decision of merging
theories provides

Social Classes In Hinduism And The Caste System
Hinduism reinforces the caste system, which is a division of society into social classes that are
created by birth or occupation and it is a prevalent social system of Hinduism (Molloy 90). Thus,
class and race are both elements affected by the caste system. There are different castes, or social
classes, and there are also subcastes. Despite the castebeing permanent for one s life, it s not to
say that those in lower castes cannot move up to a higher caste. This is where the concept of
rebirth comes into Hinduism, which is the idea that an individual can make certain choices in their
lives, good or bad, and this can affect what caste they will be reborn into. There are five main
social classes in Hinduism, they are as follows: the priest, the warrior noble, the merchant, the
peasant, and the untouchable. Theses classes are known as Brahmins, Kshayriyas, Vaisyas,... Show

where gender plays a role within the caste system as well. The peasant does manual labor and is
expected to serve the higher castes, while the untouchable is the lowest caste system and is
expected to do the lowest work, such as cleaning toilets, sweeping streets, collecting animal

Critical Appreciation Of Poetry
Poetry comes up very often in our lives whether we realize it or not. Poetry has managed to leave a
significant impact on my life. Since I ve been a kid, I ve always defined poetry as a bunch of
words on a page. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now, and the two poems, How To
Eat a Poem by Eve Merriam and, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert combined to expand my
understanding of the analysis of poetry; my ability to judge poetry s meaning; and poetry s actual
definition. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now helped to expand my
understanding of the poem: A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert. It also reinforced my belief
that analysis is needed to gain full enjoyment of poetry. The first time around, it may be hazy, but,
the second time around, the clouds will part and the sun will shine through. Similarly, the first
time you read something and you don t understand it, you go back and reread it. The poem, A
Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert made no sense whatsoever when I read it the first time. I
thought it was supposed to help ameliorate my definition of poetry but it did no such thing. Sorrow
everywhere. Slaughter everywhere... praise the Devil... After reading such things, I found the poem
to be useless in enhancing my definition of poetry. I was so confused with the mention of blood,
slaughter, starvation, poverty, and sickness when I thought the poem was supposed to have an
influence on my understanding of poetry. The

Malcolm Gladwell Plagiarism
Malcolm Gladwell wrote Sometheing Borrowed: Should a charge of plagiarism ruin your life in
What the Dog Saw: And other Adventures. Gladwell s main point in his story is that plagiarism is
unfair and dishonest. He then goes on to discuss the many facets of plagiarism; like melodies in
songs and picnic tables. Gladwell wants people who are interested in the arts and humanities to
read this because he pulls pieces of music, art and literature to use as examples since plagiarism is
a key component in these areas. This is because people change up others work and make it into
their own for the world to develop and grow. Malcolm Gladwell explains that when an idea goes
public, people are allowed to copy it and make others work into a grander cause. Overall I think
Gladwell was trying to focus on why ideas are plagiarized and their reasoning behind it, rather than
just focusing on the fact that it was plagiarized. Gladwell starts off by introducing a psychiatrist by
the name of Dorothy
Lewis whose work and life had been amalgamated in a Broadway play called
Frozen. Lewis s friends had continuously nagged her to go see the play, after a short few
months she received a phone call from the theatre production of frozen asking her if she would

worship songs, and intellectual debate don t excite us, therefore it s the inner silence, peace, and
stillness that ones soul longs for (Foster, 1978).
Resources for Spiritual Formation
Like many areas of study, spiritual formations offer a litany of great resource. The author has read
and worked through various spiritual formation classics and have found many to be most valuable,
some more valuable than others. Research has concluded that each bare a certain value and have
proven valuable to a certain time or season of life and ministry. Furthermore, others withstand the
test of time and season, and prove valuable continually through each every one of life s challenges.
The daily resource that has been most beneficial would be A Guide to Prayer for Ministers and
Other Servants (Job Shawchuck, 1988). It s daily readings of scripture; writings of past and
present spiritual giants, and reflective prayer have proven to be great resources for an everyday
prayer and journaling guide. It also offers hymns for worship and reflection and season

Fast Five Movie Analysis
Fast Five Film Review A 2011 American Action Film directed by Justin Lin. The movie was
written by Chris Morgan. The movie is the 5th film for The Fast and Furious Series. It was first
released in Australia on April 20, 2011 and then later released in the United States on April 29,
2011. Cinematography for the movie was put together by Stephen F. Winden. The film was
distributed by Universal Pictures. Fast Five was a financial success that broke box office
records for the opening weekend in April of 2011. The movie was so popular that is overpassed
the Fast And Furious action movie series. In the flourishing stages of the film, Universal studios
veered away from street racing and wanted to pull off an action packed heist involving fast cars.
They took this route to attract an even larger crowd than the Fast and Furious series already did.
Fast Five is considered the transitional film for the series where it includes only one racing
scene and more action packed scenes such as gunfights, melee, and a $100 million bank heist.
The production company had a tactic that included advertising through social media and
NASCAR itself. Fast Five made over $626.1 million in sales in the United States Box Office. It
made 66 on the list for the all time worldwide list for highest grossing movie sales. The movie is
rated PG 13 and its total running time is two hours and 10 minutes. The main characters set in
the movie are Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Matt
Schulze, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Tego Calderon, Don Omar, Joaquim de Almeida, Dwayne
Johnson, etc. After a successful prison escape, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, and Jordana Brewster
flee to Rio De Janeiro. Sooner than you know it, they are involved in another high speed race car
theft. As the film goes on, their plan goes south and things start to get out of hand. During this
time, they kill three DEA Agents and are wanted by the Kingpin leader of a drug cartel, Joaquim
de Almeida, and a ruthless federal agent, Dwayne Johnson. As their time begins to wind down,
Vin and Paul gather up a group of elite outlaws to stage a $100 million heist while being chased
down all over the city of Rio De Janeiro. The characters in this film are so

Stakeholder Attitudes To Inclusion Paper
1. Introduction
Attitudes to inclusion play a pivotal role in the success of inclusion strategies in the classroom
(Graham Spandaguo, 2011; Morin, Rivard, Crocker, Boursier Caron, 2013). Successful inclusion
incorporates the student s ecological context including peers, family, school staff and the broader
community (Foreman Arthur Kelly, 2014). Since the 1990s attitudes towards inclusionhave become
more positive (Morin et al., 2013). Nevertheless, negativity towards inclusion continues among
stakeholders. These negative attitudes may relate to which schools students attend, how prepared
schools and teachers are and how to adapt the curriculum to their needs. The attitudes of various
stakeholders may impact on the success of inclusion in the classroom. Therefore, stakeholder
attitudes require understanding and consideration for possible intervention strategies. Through a
synthesis of current research, three recommendations will be outlined to help various stakeholder
views conform to existing inclusion policy.
2. Discussion
2.1 Previous research
Previous research has delved into factors among demographics that might make them more or less
receptive to inclusion. From this research, inconsistencies are evident in attitudes towards inclusive
education. For example, a body of research reports negative correlations ... Show more content on

Art Therapy Informative Essay
Art therapy started in America and Europe in the 1940 s and has spread throughout the world and
now people in all countries are using art therapy. By the 20th century, art therapy was in all
hospitals and mental health facilities after discovering that art therapy really helps people s
emotions. Researchers found that art therapyis important to people because nowadays people don
t want to take medication to be treated instead, they are looking for an alternative therapy. It is
also important to people who don t have the ability to communicate because all they have to do
is draw to express how they are feeling.Art therapy can be used when people are having a hard
time focusing or under stress and don t know how to solve their problems. To use art therapy
people don t have to know how to draw to express their feelings, instead they just draw how they
are feeling and art therapist determines their emotions through what they drew. Art therapy causes
kids and teenager s brains to expand and have caused their thinking to be more creative than
others. Kids who feel let down or don t have any type of encouragement use art therapy because it

Time Warner vs Orc
Time Warner vs ORC
Optical Recording Corporation (ORC) was established in 1984 with the main purpose of
capitalizing on the technological innovation of James T. Russell. Russell s new technology was
based on his recent invention that revolutionized recorded music storage devices. Although Russell
was not the first to come up with the concept of the Compact Disk (CD), he was among the first
people to patent this technology. By 1985, Russell held over 25 patents in 7 countries across the
world to various technologies related to optical recording and playback. Russell s intellectual

It was key for ORC to sign Sony to a licensing agreement. Agreeing to Sony s terms was a
strategic move which not only solidified a revenue stream but also paved the way for other firms to
follow suit.
Upon signing Sony to a licensing agreement, Phillips Dupont seemed to follow suit primarily to
avoid costly litigation. Specifically, ORC managed to sign a licensing agreement with Phillips on
moderate terms that did not fully utilize the legal leverage of ORC. In other words, ORC was not
able to negotiate the license on their terms but more out of desperation of signing a licensing
agreement. Despite having the upper hand, ORC was unable to capitalize on their strong position.
During the Sony deliberations, ORC was experiencing financial troubles in Canada. The Canadian
government wished to immediately resend their tax credits which awarded ORC, as a research
firm, $6.5 million Canadian dollars. Adamson refused to pay the $6.5 million which was primarily
based on the fact that ORC could not afford to pay them. Nevertheless, the aforementioned decision
of the Canadian government was a potential threat to ORC, and could have resulted in a different
business development strategy employed by the company.
To capitalize on the recently successful licensing program, ORC turned their attention towards the
next largest manufacturer of CD media in the U.S. WEA Manufacturing (Subsidiary of Time
Warner). Initial talks to Time Warner

Apocalyptic Consciousness In The Book Of Revelation
The study of apocalyptic consciousness is of high importance in what people call the last days.
Last day stems from the New Testament. It refers to the day at the end of time following
Armageddon when God will decree the fates of all individual humans according to the good and
evil of their earthly lives. There is a strong interconnection between ancient apocalyptic declaration
and the things that are happening in the modern world. There are many books in the bible that
reveal the connection between the prophecies declared and the events happing now. But the book
of Revelationgives a play by play description of what is going to happen at the end of time. There

There is an interconnection between ancient apocalyptic declaration and the things that are
transpiring in the modern world. Throughout the Bible there are symbols and images that have
been carefully explored and now, can be used to help explain certain phenomena. In Luke 21:25
it says, There will be signs in the sun in the moon and in the stars . In John Hagee s book Four
Blood Moons, he conveys the idea of god using the sun, moon, and stars as his personal high
definition billboard. This is referring to the Biblical text of Joel 2:30 31. Such apocalyptic
consciousness finds expression in the contemporary popular culture in light of the fact that even
the scientific world refer to such phenomenon. Through research it is known that this
astronomical event is actually called a blood moon. The red moon is possible because while the
moon is in total shadow, some light form the sun passes through the earth s atmosphere and is
bent towards the moon. While the other colours in the spectrum are blocked and scattered by earth
s atmosphere, red light makes it way through. Due to the moon s vivid colour, NASA scientists
often refer to it as the blood moon. The blood moon may not result in the total destruction of the
planet but the prophets and apostles of biblical times spoke about it and used it a prophecy for

Classifying Personality Disorders
A challenge with classifying personality disorders is that personality disorders are not stable over
time while the very definition of personality disorders suggests that they should be stable over
time. However, according to figure 15.2, half the people with a personality disorder at some point
in time had achieved remission when interviewed two years later (455). Another challenge with
classifying personality disordersis that personality disorders are highly comorbid. For instance, a
person diagnosed with borderline personality disordercan also be diagnosed with paranoid
personality disorder they also predict poorer outcomes for these disorders (another challenge).
Moreover, it was found that more than 50% of people diagnosed with a personality disorder also
met the diagnostic criteria for another personality disorder. Furthermore, in the alternative DSM 5
diagnoses (appears in the appendix of the DSM 5) are based on personality traits and includes two
types of dimensional scores that can be rated using self report items. The two types of dimensional
scores are 5 personality trait domains and 25 more specific personality trait facets. For instance,
negative affectivity includes anxiousness, emotional... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dialectical behavior therapy, psychodynamic therapy and longer term versions of cognitive therapy

Psychology, Trait Theory And The Study Of Human...
In psychology, trait theory (also called dispositional theory) is an approach to the study of
human personality. Trait theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which
can be defined as habitual patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion.[1] According to this
perspective, traits are relatively stable over time, differ across individuals (e.g. some people are
outgoing whereas others are shy), and influence behavior. Traits are in contrast to states which
are more transitory dispositions. In some theories and systems, traits are something a person
either has or does not have, but in many others traits are dimensions such as extraversion vs.
introversion, with each person rating somewhere along this spectrum. Contents [hide] 1History

characteristics found in some degree in every person and finally secondary traits are those seen

driving distance, and the car should charge for the battery again in order to drive for a longer
distance. Many electric designs have limited range, due to the low energy density of batteries
compared to the fuel vehicles. Electric cars mostly have less limited distance for one charge, but
fossil fueled cars can travel for long travel. But they can need time to recharge. On the other
hand, electric car can be charged at home at night, while fossil fueled cars cannot. In America, 71
percent of car drivers drive less than 40 miles a day, and just for a quick topping up. (UC Davis,

The Benefitions Of Hard Work In My Life
As a young child, my Mother always would tell me; If you want something work hard for it. It s
that simple. That saying was constantly being stated around the house when my brother or I
would want to achieve a certain goal in school, sports or anything. This saying has transformed
me over the years into the hard worker that I am to this day. Throughout my life coaches, family,
and teachers regularly told me to work hard and give 100% effort no matter what and I will
succeed. The characteristic of hard working and constantly giving outstanding effort describes
me as a person immensely because I consistently strive to achieve my goals. Ever since the age
of ten, my Mother told me do chores if I wanted extra money in order to buy anything my little
ten year old heart desired. She composed a chore list and pinned it to the fridge for me to earn a
little money, but only if I did the task the best I could. Although somehow my Mother can always
tell when my brother or I aren t giving our full potential. How? I am still unsure to this day, but
we never wanted the repercussions that came if one of us got caught slacking. Despite giving
100% effort and completing the chores the best I could for money seemed great, I happened to
have what seemed to be a mile long chore list. Overtime out of all my chores, I realized that my
main income from ages ten to fourteen involved scooping up the dog poop in our backyard for a
dollar per pile. Despite the gross appeal, picked up the dog s poop happened to become a steady
income rapidly. Everyday after school I made sure the yard was spotless so I could earn my
money. As years went on, I stopped getting paid to do household chores and they quickly became
an expectation since I live there. With no longer getting paid to do chores I would soon have to
get a job. Eventually I got a job, it was this past summer, I helped bail hay for my uncle and
helping out on his farm when needed. I made sure I was constantly giving a 100% effort to get
that job done because that s what my Mother taught me to do. Since I was consistently hard
working, he knew he could rely on me. Although a household chore and a real job may seem
different, I feel that I should work hard on any chore or job no

How Marketing Can Be Defined As A Managerial And Social...
Marketing can be defined as a managerial and social process whereby groups and individuals
obtain what they need or desire through the creation of a product, offering it and exchanging the
product of value with others. Some of the marketing concepts include needs, wants, and demand;
products; cost, value, and satisfaction; transactions and exchanges; networks and relationships;
markets; marketers and prospects. A need is a state by which basic satisfaction is deprived. A
need is usually a biological concept that is not created by the marketer. Examples of needs are
thirst, safety, shelter, food and clothing. Wants, on the other hand, can be defined as the desire
for a particular satisfaction of need that is considered to be another level of need. An example of
a want is when an individual is in need of food; he would want the food to be prepared in a
particular way and would want the food to be fish or chicken. Demand, on the other hand, is a
want of a particular product backed by the ability as well as willingness to buy the product. A
product can be defined as goods and services that bring forth the satisfaction to human needs, wants
and value. Cost satisfaction, on the other hand, is defined as the consumer estimates and the
capacity of the product to satisfy another need. For one to get the value of something then there
must be something that he is able to give up the opportunity cost. Different products cost differently
depending on the level of satisfaction perceived.

We Real Cool: Poetry Explication
We Real Cool is a poem written by Gwendolyn Brooks in 1959, and published in her book The
Bean Eaters (We Real Cool, pg 1). A simple and light poem, We Real Cool is vague enough to
allow readers to visualize their own characters and setting, but specific enough to keep a consistent
rebellious image. Brook s attitude toward the characters is undecided, as the tone is neither tragic
nor victorious, but more so just balanced and neutral.
We Real Cool is written from the perspective of the involved fictional characters. It is as if the
reader is in the presence of these characters as they introduce themselves. They speak with

The second half of this stanza is, We left school. This is an obvious statement of action, but leaves
the reader questioning whether they left a not yet dismissed school day or a school day that had
come to an end. As a third option, the reader might also assume they left school for good.
The couplets continue in the next stanza with, We lurk late. With this line we can assume the verb
lurk is meant to represent a much less gracious movement, an almost monstrous, but comical way
of walking. In the poem s consistent three word lines, the word late is included to end the
sentence. This gives the reader an idea of when the poem can possibly take place within the time
of day. Although it may not be a literal statement regarding the time of day, as it can also translate
to a rebellious activity the characters wish to point out. The second sentence within this stanza is,
We strike straight. This line can also have multiple meanings depending on the usage and
perspective of the words strike and straight. Two possible literal translations can be deal with
fighting, as strike means hit or punch, while another meaning of strike is how one lights a cigarette.
The fourth stanza begins with, We sing sin, a line that can also have multiple meanings. If taken
from a paradox angle, the gentleness and innocence of singing contradicts with the literal meaning
of sin. This method of verbal irony is what keeps the tone consistently light throughout

  • 2. Ratio Analysis On The Performance Of Business Organisations Several academicians are moving towards elimination of ratio analysis as an analytical technique in assessing the performance of business organisations. Theorists downgrade arbitrary rules of thumb, which includes company ratio comparisons, widely used by practitioners. Since attacks on the relevance of ratiooriginated from esteemed members of scholarly society, this poses the question if ratio analysis is limited to the world of nuts and bolts ? Can we bridge the gap rather than sever the link between traditional ratio analysis and the popular rigorous statistical techniques which is more popular among academicians in recent years (Edward Altman 2012). The Co operative is a group of people acting together to meet the common needs and objectives of its members. The ownership of the businesses belongs to its members and decisions are made dramatically by the group. The group are not about making big profits for its members, but believe in creating value for its customers; this is what makes the co operative groups stands out amongst its competitor s. The Co operative Group was founded in 1844 in Rochdale Lancashire. By 1990, the group owned over 1,400 independent separate co operative businesses in the UK, which all are members of the wider Co operative Group; during this period most of these independent societies began to merge to form a formidable force in both the retail sector and other food chains. • 3. Ardennes Offensive Advantages And Disadvantages The Allies faced various disadvantages during the Ardennes Offensive: пѓ Since the Allies had reached the German border after the Normandy landings by this time, they faced an important intelligence disadvantage. The Germans used only telephones and tele printers within the German borders. Radios were not used as the Allies had cracked Enigma by then. пѓ The Allied aircraft reconnaissance suffered due to the autumn fog and withheld them from making optimum use of air power especially the tank busting Typhoons of the RAF or Mustang fighters from the USAAF which would have been used against German tanks. Though the weather was typical for the Ardennes in winter, the ground was hard enough for military vehicles to cross and this suited the armored attack Hitler envisaged. пѓ Germans used charcoal instead of wood to reduce smoke detection. The Battle of Bulge Military Situation maps: 16th December 1944 On the morning of 16th December, the Germans launched an attack on the Allied forces through the Ardennes. The plan for Dietrich s 6th Army was for the three infantry divisions to punch a hole on either side of Udenbrath, and then swing north west to form a hard shoulder facing north while the four armored divisions drove through the... Lack of fuel and manpower on the western front made it inevitable had the German offensive would fall through unless Allied supplies could be captured intact and that was a long shot in any case. Hitler had been defeated by Allied air superiority, by the defenders of Bastogne, by poor coordination among his own forces (especially between the Fifth and Sixth Panzer Divisions) and by a new weapon, the proximity fuse which could make a shell go off at a distance from its target through the use of radars. • 5. George Arnold And George Herbert s Dover Beach And Easter... Some might claim human suffering is a natural part of life. Others may argue pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. The speaker in Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach appears to shield from the current state of despair in the living world through the glorification of personal relationships. The speaker in George Herbert s Easter Wings appears to simply embrace the world s suffering as a catalyst for Gods mercy, to bring strength and spiritual intimacy through Christ s crucifixion and resurrection. Both speakers of Matthew Arnold s Dover Beachand George Herbert s Easter Wings lament the current state of suffering in humanity. While the speakers may appear to have differing beliefs, they both have hidden fears that place their hope in the afterlife. Arnold s Dover Beach opens with a tranquil scene. A place where waves crash on the shoreline of the English Channel, and a couple gazes out a window at the moonlit water. The speaker uses the imagery and sound of pebbles in the surf to create a metaphor for the story of souls and the persistent, incremental decline of faith that his culture has suffered. The poem ends with the suggestion of promulgating lovein a world of violence and fear and pain. This is actually a metaphor, for God is love. When the speaker promotes love between couples, this love is what will help prove their faith, not denounce it. In Dover Beach, the speaker appears to blame the retrograde of the Sea of Faith (line 21) for the world s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Sociological Canon The field of sociology has three sociologists who form the sociological canon, of whom many theories, and strategies have formed how we look at society. Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkhiem all share a similar timeline when they were born, but even with that similarity these sociologists saw the world in vastly different scopes which influenced their theories. These contrasting values and theories show clearly in their work and has led to some of the most influential works within the field, hence their place as the sociological canon. It is interesting to see the contrasting nature between these very influential sociologists and will be the focus of this essay. While looking at the three sociologists who make up the sociological canon it is important to take into consideration how they view social order and social change. Karl Marx used his theory of social class in order to explain how society structured itself (Bratton, Denham 2014). Marx theorized that classes were relational, exploitive, and conflictive in nature. Marx explained social order, by way of the labour market and modes of production. His theories showed a pessimistic but realistic view of how the system abuses and takes advantage of the working class, and through strife the working class needed to empower themselves to grow and reach their potential. Emile Durkheim theorized about the division of labour, which was a written work that analyzed the relationship between social solidarity and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. My Learning Experience In the last year, I have moved from New Jersey to New York to Iowa. Moving away from your family is hard, but can be done by having a strong relationship with people and good friends. Moving multiple times for the same reason, hockey, can be mentally and physically tough, but the outcome and experiences that you will encounter will make up for it. Moving is hard but can be overcome and can be viewed as a learning experience. Being born and raised in New Jerseyhas impacted my life in a very special way. From kindergarten through eighth grade, I was in the same school called St. Paul s, which is located in Princeton. I made some amazing friends during my time in middle school. During this time, I was playing hockey for a team called The Little Flyers, which was just outside of Pennsylvania. We were a remarkable team that won many games and championships over the years. The coach was a former player in the National Hockey League named Stephane Charbonneau. He was a special coach who had exceptional advice and knowledge of the game. Two days out of the week, when I did not have team practice, I would have goaltending lesson with a goaltending coach named George Bosak. George is one of my favorite goalie coaches I have ever worked with. He has so much knowledge and love for the game. After eighth grade when I graduated from St. Paul s, I had to make a decision: stay and play high schoolhockey, go to Buffalo, New York or go to Canton Michigan to play and develop my skills as ... • 8. Queen Victoria s Influential Reign Over the British Empire... Queen Victoria is connected with Britain s economic progress, great age of industrial expansion, and particularly, empire. Right at the moment of her death it was believed, Britain had a worldwide empire on which the sun never set (Hibbert 3). Queen Victoria established the nature of the British Empire for future monarchs by reigning through sequences of commanding prime ministers who acquired political control of Britain. Queen Victoria was born on May 24 1819 in London (Williams 24). The morning of June 20th, 1837 the king before Queen Victoria had seen his last couple of days and Princess Victoria had become Queen Victoria. With Prime Minister Lord Melbourne being her first political mentor, in 1840, this guidance would be switched with that of Prince Albert. The British Population never grew to liking him very much. Britain had been taking on the switch to a constitutional monarchy in which the ruler is set with firm authorities and projected to continue above any politics party s. In 1857, after the Indian Mutiny, control was transitioned from East India Company to that of the crowns. In 1861, the death of her husband would establish her into mourning for the balance of her lifespan. In years time, the secluded influences of Queen Victoria s family and the pleasing responsiveness of Benjamin Disraeli, Prime Minister in 1868, she slowly began to reclaim her public responsibilities. During 1877, Queen Victoria had become the monarch of all India, Canada, Austria, New Zealand, and large regions of Africa. During this instant in time Britain was not heavily tangled in much European activities. • 9. Catullus Relationship Essay In Catullus 2, it does not seem like Catullus and Lesbia have any kind of relationship at this point, he seems to be admiring her from afar. This poem gives the impression that Catullus is stalking Lesbia. He wishes to be the sparrow on Lesbia s lap as she is loving and affectionate towards the sparrow. He wishes he could be with her and play with her like she does with the sparrow. Catullus clearly desires Lesbia s affections and holds her in high regard at this point in time. In Catullus 5, Catullus and Lesbia have now entered into a physical relationship. In this poem, Catullus brags about the many kisses they have shared and is rejoicing in their love. Catullus beseeches Lesbia for her constant affections and believes that no amount of kisses from her would ever be enough. He wants an infinite number of kisses. Catullus is besotted with Lesbia and believes that nothing could go wrong at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He comes to the realisation that Lesbia is fickle and doesn t always mean what she says. A positive sign in the relationship comes when Catullus states that Lesbia would choose to marry him over anyone else, even Jupiter who is a God. It seems as though the tables have turned and for once Lesbia feels more for Catullus than he does for her. Catullus and Lesbia s relationship is tumultuous and their feelings for each other change rapidly constantly. In Catullus 72, Catullus and Lesbia seem to have parted ways. This is a sad poem as Catullus reveals that Lesbia has been with someone else but that his feelings for her remain. Once again Catullus is reminiscing about the good times they shared together and the passionate love they had for one another. Catullus asserts that Lesbia has injured him in such a manner that his is no longer as friendly as he once was. Tacitus Equality An example of a major source, which chiefly opposes the alternate interpretations provided by numerous other sources, is evident through the portrayals delivered by Tacitus in the Annals which contain a prospect of first century Rome, from Tiberius to Domitian. However in general, Tacitus offers a vivid representation of the Roman Empire, and doesn t overlook the deadly exploitation and inhumaneness of the time, especially in regards to Augustus. This same view is further supported as Tacitusstates that the Protection of the laws were continually deranged by violence, intrigue and corruption and that he, along with all of the Roman people, were Stript of equality... as they ...all looked up to the commands of a sovereign without the least ... • 11. Free Will In Julius Caesar Research Paper Throughout Shakespeare s Julius Caesar a series of events portray a path that leads to Caesar s destiny being controlled by fate. Some may believe Caesar s destiny is controlled by Caesar and his own free will since he makes many of his own decisions. Those people are incorrect for the reasoning that no matter what Caesar or anyone else does, he would still end with the same destiny. He would end up in the same place as he would even if he had not questioned anything, or he had questioned everyone and everything more, Caesar would still end up being stabbed in the back by enemies and old friends. Although some think it is fate, others believe it was free will that controlled Caesar s destiny since he made all of the choices on his own. Those believing that Caesar chose to refuse the crown three times say Caesar s destiny is in his own hands. Ay, marry, was t, and he put it by thrice, every time gentler than the last; (I, i, 225). By saying this, Caesar was making a decision on whether or not he wanted to rule Rome. Some say his decision will decide his destiny, however no matter what Caesar does, he will still be following his fate. Before his trip to the capitol, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Do not go forth today: (II, ii, 48) Caesar has been warned many times to not go, and is now being told that he is full of himself. The United States stance on its policies and laws towards immigrants and their naturalization saw drastic changes during this time period, which reasons ranges from American s experience with the immigrants and the nation s changing relationship with other countries. During the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the United Statestook a restrictive approach on its immigration policies and naturalization law, mainly because of American s fear of job competition with the immigrants, and also because of their racism. However, the change in relationships between United States and other nations during World War II marked the turning point of the nation s approach on those policies and laws, where the United States slowly began to reopen its door of immigration. And in the late 20th century, the United States continued its approach on open immigration policies and naturalization laws that began during World War II due to the same reason, but at the same time the nation also passed restrictive policies towards undocumented immigrants. During the beginning of the time period between 1882 and 2000, the United States policies towards immigration and naturalization became more and more restrictive due to American s fear of competition with immigrants for jobs and their buildup of racism towards those immigrants. People, past and present, are bound to the social customs and expectations that are tied to where they live. Authors throughout history have used this fact to symbolize conflicting mindsets or ideas. Kate Chopins novel, The Awakening, demonstrates this metaphor perfectly. Through her characterEdna vacationing on the Grand Isle, then returning to her old life in New Orleans, Chopin exemplifies how location is extremely impactful on one s life and represents the conflict within. The Awakening begins on the Grand Isle where Edna Pontellier and her family are vacationing. While there, Edna meets Robert Lebrun, and she feels a special connection to Robert. Her time on the island s beach only intensifies her attraction towards Robert as her more erotic side shines through. Because the beach acts as the backdrop for her new, tempting nature, the Grand Isle represents Edna s change in mentality about how she is living her life. The Grand Isle represents her freedom. Drugs that are used to help treat this disease include tetrabenazine, antipsychotic medication, and benzodiazepines. These medications help to restrain the symptoms of involuntary movements from this disease. The tetrabenazine medication assists in decreasing the amount of dopamine in the body to extend to nerve cells within the brain, since this disease affects a part of the brain. It is widely used to help treat Huntington s disease since it does help decrease the involuntary movements that the body can have. Tetrabenazine has side effects of sedation, hypertonia, muscle rigidity, depression, bradykinesia, restlessness, drowsiness and akathisia. (n.a. Tetrabenazine Side Effects in Detail; n.d.) It contains a comprehensible and thought provoking selection of Australian poetry from the early years of European settlement to the present. Stockholders who acquire ownership of a business by investing in it are therefore the owners of the business and entitled to its profits. The entitlement theory also states that benefiting other stakeholders at the expense of stockholder dividends is akin to stealing. Mindfulness Meditation In Addiction Counseling (SUD) Introduction Although more research on Mindfulness Meditation is needed in general, recent literature on the subject has been encouraging for patients of SUD s, and their therapists alike. Currently, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of cases of SUD s along with an increase in methods becoming available to treat them. This insidious disease is chronic, progressive, and potentially fatal to its victims, proving the need for effective treatment and compassionate care for the individuals afflicted. Both theories have been applied in a variety of disciplines from psychology to media studies. These needs consist of: a) autonomy, refers to human agency or volition for one s action and decision (b) competence, refers to a sense of mastery and self proficiency in order to interact effectively with one s world, and (c) relatedness, refers to the feelings of being cared for, likened, and valued by other individuals. In the context of this theory, it posits that (1) the social and psychological origins of (2) needs which generate (3) expectations of (4) the mass media or other sources which lead to (5) differential patterns of media exposure (or engagement in other activities), resulting in (6) need gratifications and (7) other consequences, perhaps mostly unintended ones . It is assumed that media use is purposive and motivated, which users are active rather than passive consumers of media. This theory would then hold that media choice lies with the users in order to lead to desired outcomes or goals. This notion can be literally defined as audience centered, and prompts a shift from what media do to people to what people do with media . In so doing, users often evaluate their available media options and should be likely to choose a medium that best fulfilling their needs. It is likely that the degree of the users gratification obtained from the media exposure will contribute to the continuance of media use. Social Classes In Hinduism And The Caste System Hinduism reinforces the caste system, which is a division of society into social classes that are created by birth or occupation and it is a prevalent social system of Hinduism (Molloy 90). Thus, class and race are both elements affected by the caste system. There are different castes, or social classes, and there are also subcastes. Despite the castebeing permanent for one s life, it s not to say that those in lower castes cannot move up to a higher caste. This is where the concept of rebirth comes into Hinduism, which is the idea that an individual can make certain choices in their lives, good or bad, and this can affect what caste they will be reborn into. Gladwell wants people who are interested in the arts and humanities to read this because he pulls pieces of music, art and literature to use as examples since plagiarism is a key component in these areas. This is because people change up others work and make it into their own for the world to develop and grow. Malcolm Gladwell explains that when an idea goes public, people are allowed to copy it and make others work into a grander cause. Overall I think Gladwell was trying to focus on why ideas are plagiarized and their reasoning behind it, rather than just focusing on the fact that it was plagiarized. Gladwell starts off by introducing a psychiatrist by the name of Dorothy Lewis whose work and life had been amalgamated in a Broadway play called Frozen. Lewis s friends had continuously nagged her to go see the play, after a short few months she received a phone call from the theatre production of frozen asking her if she would do a talk back after the play. Fast Five is considered the transitional film for the series where it includes only one racing scene and more action packed scenes such as gunfights, melee, and a $100 million bank heist. The production company had a tactic that included advertising through social media and NASCAR itself. Fast Five made over $626.1 million in sales in the United States Box Office. Introduction Attitudes to inclusion play a pivotal role in the success of inclusion strategies in the classroom (Graham Spandaguo, 2011; Morin, Rivard, Crocker, Boursier Caron, 2013). Successful inclusion incorporates the student s ecological context including peers, family, school staff and the broader community (Foreman Arthur Kelly, 2014). Since the 1990s attitudes towards inclusionhave become more positive (Morin et al., 2013). Nevertheless, negativity towards inclusion continues among stakeholders. These negative attitudes may relate to which schools students attend, how prepared schools and teachers are and how to adapt the curriculum to their needs. The attitudes of various stakeholders may impact on the success of inclusion in the classroom. Therefore, stakeholder attitudes require understanding and consideration for possible intervention strategies. Through a synthesis of current research, three recommendations will be outlined to help various stakeholder views conform to existing inclusion policy. 2. • 51. The Benefitions Of Hard Work In My Life As a young child, my Mother always would tell me; If you want something work hard for it. It s that simple. That saying was constantly being stated around the house when my brother or I would want to achieve a certain goal in school, sports or anything. This saying has transformed me over the years into the hard worker that I am to this day. Throughout my life coaches, family, and teachers regularly told me to work hard and give 100% effort no matter what and I will succeed. The characteristic of hard working and constantly giving outstanding effort describes me as a person immensely because I consistently strive to achieve my goals. Ever since the age of ten, my Mother told me do chores if I wanted extra money in order to buy anything my little ten year old heart desired. She composed a chore list and pinned it to the fridge for me to earn a little money, but only if I did the task the best I could. Although somehow my Mother can always tell when my brother or I aren t giving our full potential. How? I am still unsure to this day, but we never wanted the repercussions that came if one of us got caught slacking. Despite giving 100% effort and completing the chores the best I could for money seemed great, I happened to have what seemed to be a mile long chore list. Overtime out of all my chores, I realized that my main income from ages ten to fourteen involved scooping up the dog poop in our backyard for a dollar per pile. Despite the gross appeal, picked up the dog s poop happened to become a steady income rapidly. Everyday after school I made sure the yard was spotless so I could earn my money. As years went on, I stopped getting paid to do household chores and they quickly became an expectation since I live there. With no longer getting paid to do chores I would soon have to get a job. Eventually I got a job, it was this past summer, I helped bail hay for my uncle and helping out on his farm when needed. I made sure I was constantly giving a 100% effort to get that job done because that s what my Mother taught me to do. Since I was consistently hard working, he knew he could rely on me. Although a household chore and a real job may seem different, I feel that I should work hard on any chore or job no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. How Marketing Can Be Defined As A Managerial And Social... Marketing can be defined as a managerial and social process whereby groups and individuals obtain what they need or desire through the creation of a product, offering it and exchanging the product of value with others. Some of the marketing concepts include needs, wants, and demand; products; cost, value, and satisfaction; transactions and exchanges; networks and relationships; markets; marketers and prospects. A need is a state by which basic satisfaction is deprived. A need is usually a biological concept that is not created by the marketer. Examples of needs are thirst, safety, shelter, food and clothing. Wants, on the other hand, can be defined as the desire for a particular satisfaction of need that is considered to be another level of need. An example of a want is when an individual is in need of food; he would want the food to be prepared in a particular way and would want the food to be fish or chicken. Demand, on the other hand, is a want of a particular product backed by the ability as well as willingness to buy the product. A product can be defined as goods and services that bring forth the satisfaction to human needs, wants and value. Cost satisfaction, on the other hand, is defined as the consumer estimates and the capacity of the product to satisfy another need. For one to get the value of something then there must be something that he is able to give up the opportunity cost. Different products cost differently depending on the level of satisfaction perceived. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Essay on We Real Cool, Poetry Explanation STUDENT NAME PROFESSOR CLASS DATE We Real Cool: Poetry Explication We Real Cool is a poem written by Gwendolyn Brooks in 1959, and published in her book The Bean Eaters (We Real Cool, pg 1). A simple and light poem, We Real Cool is vague enough to allow readers to visualize their own characters and setting, but specific enough to keep a consistent rebellious image. Brook s attitude toward the characters is undecided, as the tone is neither tragic nor victorious, but more so just balanced and neutral. We Real Cool is written from the perspective of the involved fictional characters. It is as if the reader is in the presence of these characters as they introduce themselves. They speak with confidence and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second half of this stanza is, We left school. This is an obvious statement of action, but leaves the reader questioning whether they left a not yet dismissed school day or a school day that had come to an end. As a third option, the reader might also assume they left school for good. The couplets continue in the next stanza with, We lurk late. With this line we can assume the verb lurk is meant to represent a much less gracious movement, an almost monstrous, but comical way of walking. In the poem s consistent three word lines, the word late is included to end the sentence. This gives the reader an idea of when the poem can possibly take place within the time of day. Although it may not be a literal statement regarding the time of day, as it can also translate to a rebellious activity the characters wish to point out. The second sentence within this stanza is, We strike straight. This line can also have multiple meanings depending on the usage and perspective of the words strike and straight. Two possible literal translations can be deal with fighting, as strike means hit or punch, while another meaning of strike is how one lights a cigarette. The fourth stanza begins with, We sing sin, a line that can also have multiple meanings. If taken from a paradox angle, the gentleness and innocence of singing contradicts with the literal meaning of sin. This method of verbal irony is what keeps the tone consistently light throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
