Examples Of Racism In The Native Son
The Native Son by Richard Wright took place in Chicago, Illinois during the nineteen thirties.
The protagonist, Bigger Thomas, is a twenty year old African American boy who hates white
supremacy and racism. He is involved with gangs and is constantly disappointing his family.
Since Mr. Thomas (Bigger s father) died, Bigger s family has lost everything. The family of four
lives in a tiny rat infested apartment, and has barely enough money to survive. Bigger s mother
wants Bigger to get a job as a chauffeur. Bigger, on the other hand, has other ideas. Bigger Thomas
his friends, Gus, G. H., and Jack, were going to meet before they went out to go rob a store, but
this robbery wasn t going to be like any other robbery that they have done before.... Show more

The sound effects were out of place and did not fit with the moods of some scenes. Also, the
acting was not up to par for such an influential novel. The movie leaves out many scenes that
show Bigger s viciousness, such as, him forcing Gus to lick his knife. After reading the novel,
those scenes feel flat, but Young Oprah Winfrey plays Bigger s mother. That means everyone can
enjoy the film. In addition, the movie changes how the audience views the story of Bigger by
putting the novel in context of the thirties. People can view the story instead of just imagining it.
People who grew up in the twenty first century would have never imagined how the city and
houses looked. It provided a visual aspect of the story which added even more suspense to the
already suspenseful

Ballistics Reflection Essay
Good Evening Mr. Yolen,
I just wanted to get in touch with you regarding a couple things that have been on my mind.
Hopefully you can help me out with my situations.
First and foremost I am extremely discouraged about the grade I have in your class right now as
it does not reflect at all what I have put in. Starting from the beginning of the year, I understand
what I did wrong on the Engineering Presentation. Where I am a little disappointed is where for
example, on the 4.2 Linear Motion homework, you gave me a C+ and out of the whole assignment
you only crossed out the word usually . Also, on the 4.2.2 Projectile Motion homework, you gave
me an F because I read one of the questions wrong even though I had written the correct answer
on the paper and I wrote down for the third question 1) Initial Velocity, 2) Firing Angle which I
understand why it was unnecessary to put it down, and 3) Gravity. For these 2 minuscule
mistakes on this sheet, I do not think it is an F quality homework. I have both of these sheets still
on file and will take a picture of them for your review because I truly feel like those should be
changed but that is up to you in the end. In regards to the Ballistics Quiz, I do not know what went
wrong as I did very well with the classwork you assigned but there is nothing I could do about that
now.
Second, I am also quite upset about my results on the whole Ballistics Project. I wanted to inform
you that without even getting the assignment back, I feel

Broken Arm Or Just A Muscle Torch Research Paper
Broken Arm or Just a Muscle Stretch
You always sit in that room and play your silly video game, can you at least go outside for a walk
or something? Mom screamed. It was a beautiful sunny day. One of those pleasant, brilliant days
that all you want to do is relax on the beach. Sit under a colossal umbrella, drink some kind of icy
lemonade and not think about anything. But at the same time, the sun was like a lava from an
erupting volcano . The more you were standing in the sun without cover, the worst it gets. The sun
was striking with its brightness like a lightning, super bright and sparkly. As always emptiness was
around the corner in my head, and games were the answer. For me the games were basically
everything. Deeply would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With gigantic fear in my brain I ran to the kitchen. The kitchen is a great base for armory. Well, I
was thinking smart, i took the best weapon of all, a broom. The deadliest of them. I was like a
ninja, more specific like samurai is running through the hall to the door. My mind was not
thinking, couldn t imagine who was it. Because I knew my parents never come that early. And
they boycott to open the door with the key, they knock. And it couldn t be my brother, he was in
Ukraine. As I see the door open just a tiny crack, i close my eyes and hit. With all my power, i
smack someone in the face with the broom. All you could hear is a slam of the broom. As I open
my eyes, I see my Mom. With a enormous shock I was stunt. Couldn t talk or do anything. And
there it goes , Are you kooky? What are you doing? What s the matter with you? With a big
anger she screamed. Well, she never said that in English, she shrieked that in Ukrainian with
inappropriate language. The translation is better. She walked in, like a bull entering arena. She
closed the door gently. I was surprised that she never smacked it. Why did you do that? Did you

Questionnaire
Chapter 5 QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN AND SCALE DEVELOPMENT
Naresh K. Malhotra, Georgia Institute of Technology
Introduction
This chapter describes the importance of a questionnaire and presents the process for developing
questionnaires and observational forms. Guidelines for questionnaire construction are provided at
each stage of the process. In addition, commonly used scaling techniques and use of questionnaires
in experimentation are discussed and the design of observational forms is presented.1
What Is a Questionnaire?
A questionnaire is a formalized set of questions for obtaining information from respondents. The
overriding objective is to translate the researcher s information needs into a set of specific questions
that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are exceptions to this rule. Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or
sponsorship of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about
the full range of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study.
Early in the interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with
respondents and capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At
times, certain questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity.
Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One?
In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the
solution. Consider the following question:
Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores?
(Incorrect)
A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the
respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices,
or that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled
question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions
should be asked separately,

Relationship Between Corporate And Corporate Social...
This essay will evaluate the relationship between Corporate Strategy, Corporate Social
Responsibility and will give some examples in order to give an idea to companies why they should
engage in CSR and the consequences of engaging on it. It has been told that engaging on Corporate
Social Responsibility is a cost, but recently has been demonstrated that if it is well managed the
money that you put on CSR implementation can be taken into account as an investment.
Companies engage in CSR not only because moral questions, it has been demonstrated that CSR is
a door to an increase in the reputation of the company. In the long term companies realize that
customers really appreciate the engagement of the company to social or environmental activities.
Managers nowadays realize on how the consumers mind are changing towards a more responsible
consumption and how these consumers look for information on how the products they consume
have been produced. So these managers in order to increase in a long term base the good reputation
of the company are investing nowadays on changing their strategy and trying all the company to
engage in responsible practices. As explained in more detail in this paper the consequences of
engaging in CSR are worth more than the cost of changing the company strategy. Some of them are
the increase of consumer loyalty, investor attractiveness, political stability and economic benefits. 2.

Second Hunting Weekend Narrative
My second hunting weekend was about to begin, I was pulled out of Library class at CCE and
came home to find out I wouldn t be leaving until five or six o clock because one of my dogs had
eaten some pills she shouldn t have.
We eventually left and dropped by a Walmart in Hays, Kansas where my dad and I bought food
for the weekend. We then went to meet my dad s friend Fred and his son Quint with whom we
would hunt with until the sun went down. We then fed and watered the dogs as they had been
running all day and we shot a bb gun and a .22 rifle which hit me in the eye with the scope. I was

them off. Fred did not yell, but spoke firmly when ha ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Sermon On The Mount
Sermon Outline Draft (25mins)
Text Announcement Matthew 7:13 14 1 Minute max
Scripture Introduction
Our text for today is found in the Gospel of Matthew
Written by: Levi aka Matthew a disciple of Christ
Between AD 50 70
Written by a Jew, to Jews and about a Jew
The purposes of Matthew s Gospel are many, one being to convince the Jews that Jesus of Nazareth
is the promised Jewish messiah.
Context 2 mins
Our text finds its place in the section famously called The sermon on the mount . This sermon is
the most famous sermon Jesus ever gave, perhaps the most famous sermon ever given by anyone
spanning from chapters 5 7. You can find a condensed version of this sermon in Luke 6:20 49.

John from his earliest days was studious, thoughtful, and reverent. At the early age of twenty
seven he wrote one of the world s greatest books, The Institutes of the Christian Religion, when
he died at Geneva in 1564 he bequeathed to the world the great principles of democracy and
religious freedom. The other brother, Charles, pursued a course of profligacy and dissipation and
lived life as worthless and infamous as his brother s life was noble and glorious. How do you
explain the difference between those two men? Not heredity, not in environment, not in education,
for they had the same heredity, the same environment, the same home, the same early influences.
The difference is to be explained in choice.
We are plagued with many choices in our lives.
Choices from marriage, to living, work, family, etc.
A Researcher from Columbia did a study and found that the average person makes about 70
decisions every day.
That s 25,500 decisions a year.
Over 70 years, that s 1,788,500 decisions.
But There is one awkward question that demands a decision which has eternal consequences.
How will you respond to Jesus?
In our selected text Jesus is giving us an invitation, a choice to make. He covers the fact that there
are four sets of features characterising two paths for man to

WIRELESS NETWORKING
Introduction
A wireless network is any type of computer network that uses wireless data connections for
connecting network nodes .Wireless networking is a method by which homes, telecommunications
networks and enterprise (business).Installations avoid the costly process of introducing cables into
a building, or as a connection between various equipment locations. Wireless telecommunications
networks are generally implemented and administered using radio communication. This
implementation takes place at the physical level (layer) of the OSI model network structure.
Examples of wireless networks include cell phone networks, Wi Fi local networks and terrestrial

Hardware Access Point with Internet
Wireless connected computers using a Hardware Access Point for shared Internet access.
If I have more than one hardware access point, how can I share a single Internet connection?
If an existing wired LAN already has an Internet connection, then the hardware access points simply
connect to your LAN and allow wireless computers to access the existing Internet connection in the
same way as wired LAN computers.
IEEE 802.11:
Wireless networking hardware requires the use of underlying technology that deals with radio
frequencies as well as data transmission. The most widely used standard is 802.11 produced by the
Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). This is a standard defining all aspects of
Radio Frequency Wireless networking
Roaming:
A wireless computer can roam from one access point to another, with the software and hardware
maintaining a steady network connection by monitoring the signal strength from in range access
points and locking on to the one with the best quality. Usually this is completely transparent to the
user; they are not aware that a different access point is being used from area to area. Some access
point configurations require security authentication when swapping access points, usually in the
form of a password dialog box.
Access points are required to have overlapping wireless areas to

Hockley In Titanic
The Titanic Depth of the Heart of the Ocean
Ahh, open your heart to me, Rose, pleads Caledon Hockley of the young Rose
in James Cameron s film, Titanic, just after he gives her a most expensive
diamond. The actor Billy Zane plays Hockley as a callous, jaded, been there done
that sophisticate who seems to want her heart simply because he believes it is for sale
and he has a right to it. His blindness to higher motives in love totally disqualifies him
from being worthy of Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet. But perhaps it is
also the opaque nature of love itself that defeats him. This scene between Hockley and
Rose is one of several ways in which Cameron develops the idea of the closed heart ... Show more

The crew is stumped. But then
Rose hears a newscast about it, sees her picture on TV and calls the ship, asking, I
was just wondering if you had found the heart of the ocean yet, Mr. Lovett?
The literal gem, then, serves to drive the plot. People explore wrecks for the
challenge and for scientific purposes, but Cameron has Brock Lovett, played by Bill
Paxton, and his salvage crew searching for a diamond. This motivation works on two
levels. It gives a reason for the dangerous and expensive dive that the people sitting in
the dark theater can appreciate. Many people in this materialistic world can relate to
and understand betting one s life and fortune on a diamond that rivals the Hope
diamond in value. On an artistic level, though, the search for material wealth parallels
the confidence that the Titanic s owners place in material goods and technology. And
of course, just as money and wealth by themselves fail to make life worthwhile for most
people, all of the confidence her owners and passengers mistakenly place in the
integrity of this man made ship cannot keep them warm in ice water.
In addition to driving the plot, the diamond functions on a figurative, symbolic
level. The gem represents the human heart, the repository and driving force behind
people s emotions. Toward the end of

Recently published literature reveals that there are several key components of any effective
reward and recognition program. Multiple authors argue that programs missing any one of
these key components will, at best, fail to engage employees, and at worst alienate employees.
In fact, according to Bob Nelson, the author of 1001 Ways to Reward Employees, some forms of
awards can hurt organizations by promoting a culture of entitlement. Additional research reveals
that programs that are impersonal or reward too few people may alienate employees. These key
14,15,16 components and case examples of their influence are detailed below: 17 SSMART

Ee Cummings Research Paper
Edward Estlin Cummings, better known as E.E. Cummings, was a well known American poet
who lived between October 14, 1894 and September 3, 1962. His long career spanned all the way
from 1904, when he was ten years old, up to his death in 1962. At the time of his death, Cummings
was the second most widely read poet in the United States, after Robert Frost. His countless
contributions to American poetryas well as his immense influence on American poetry is evident to
this very day.
E.E. Cummings was born on October 14, 1894 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to Rebecca Haswell
Clarke and Edward Cummings. E.E. Cummings father was a professor at Harvard University, where
his son later went to college. As a kid, Cummings wrote poetry as early as the age ... Show more

Cummings had a unique career and writing style. Over time, he developed his writing style to
become an innovative poet because of his lack of stylistic and structural conformity. After
publishing quality poems for much of his career, he eventually found wide recognition. In his
work, Cummings experimented radically with form, punctuation, spelling, and syntax, and by
abandoning traditional techniques and structures to create a new, highly idiosyncratic means of
poetic expression, he challenged the status quo in literature and poetry. This is highly reflective
of his writing, however, later in his career, Cummings was often criticized for becoming more
conservative and less progressive with his work. E.E. Cummings ultimately refined his
signature style and avoided pressing his work toward further evolution. Nevertheless, he
attained great popularity, especially among young readers, for the simplicity of his language,
his playful mode, and his attention to subjects such as war and sex. The poet and critic Randall
Jarrell once said that Cummings is one of the most individual poets who ever lived, and though
it sometimes seems so, it is not just his vices and exaggerations, the defects of his qualities, that
make a writer popular. But, primarily, Mr. Cummings s poems are loved because they are full of
sentimentally, of sex, of more or less improper jokes, of elementary lyric insistence. Clearly,
Cummings work was rebellious and contrarian to traditional literature. E.E. Cummings was part of
the Modern literary period. Other famous American poets from this era include Robert Frost,
Langston Hughes, E. St. V. Millay, Audre Lord, Walt Whitman, and Edwin Arlington. This literary
period had a profound impact on Cummings work and even world events influenced his poems.
Over the course of E.E. Cummings career, several major world events took place. World War I and
World War II both occurred during

Why Is Robert Lowell Confessional Poetry
Robert Lowell is a brilliant writer and poet. He is one of the geniuses of his time. Paul N. Calvert
said, The period in which Robert Lowell wrote has been called The Age of Lowell, a testament
to his genius as a poet, and this poet was truly a genius. Lowell was born on March 1, 1917 and
died on September 12, 1977. Throughout his lifetime, Lowell wrote many poems and even a few
books, but he is mostly famous for his works of poetryand the movement in which he utilized.
Lowell is famous for complying with the form of Confessional Poetry, a literary term which will
later be defined. Some poems demonstrate this movement more than other poems, but most, if not
all, of Lowell s poems contain the ideas of Confessional Poetry. These poems often... Show more

However, this poem is one of the most prominent. Temple Cone simply stated that Skunk Hour is
an important example of confessional poetry and this is a true statement. This poem also has
aspects of Lowell s life; more specifically, aspects of Lowell s personal, psychology life, (Cone).
The man in the poem is described as ill and this depicts Lowell s personal, psychology life,
(Cone). Another clue that points out that this is a Confessional Poem, is found in lines one
through three: Nautilus Island s hermit / heiress still through winter in her Spartan Cottage;
/ her sheep still graze above the sea, (Lowell). These lines actually depict where Lowell, a man
who comes from a very old, upper class American family, spent several summers: Castine, Maine.
The setting of this poem alone tells the reader that this is confessional poetry. The poem is set
up in a place Lowell is very familiar with; this is partly why this poem is considered
Confessional. In the poem, the narrator seems to be struggling in life and is almost depressed and
then this skunk appears. The skunk in the poem provides a counterforce to the devastating effects
of the world at large, and it distracts the speaker from his depression and therefore turn his focus to
survival rather than thriving (Cone). This counterforce or skunk can be seen in the last two stanzas
of the poem. Lowell describes the illness or depression that the speaker is

Medifast Program Analysis
The Medifast program is a scientifically backed weight loss program. This program consists of
nutrient dense meals and vitamins (Medifast Inc., 2016). Medifast s most popular meal plan is
five Medifast meals and one lean and green meal. Each Medifast meal has the same amount of
calories and nutrients, meals are 100 calories each, the lean and green meal consists of 7oz of
lean protein and endless amount of greens in the form of veggies or salad. The reason why this
plan works is individuals are only consuming less than 1000 calories a day. This helps individuals
with portion control and gives them the daily requirements of vitamins and minerals. The basic
nature of the Medifast diet it to restrict the caloric intake of obese individuals and supplement with
Medifast prepared meals, this ensures optimal weight loss, medical monitoring comes along with
this diet, individuals will need to get blood work and routine physician visits, this ensures that
individuals are following the meal plan.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obesity and morbidity obese individuals tend to have co morbidity, these co morbidity are
hypertension, high blood cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes, just to name a few. Obesity is any
individual with a body mass index of 30 and over (Lenfant, M.D., C. 1998). Obese individuals are
given a five and one meal plan, which means five Medifast meals and one lean and green meal.
Each Medifast meal is less than 150 calories per serving, the lean and green is 7oz of lean protein
and endless amount of salad and vegetables, and very little dressing (Medifast Inc., 2016). Obese
individuals are restricted from earing no more than 1000 to 1500 calories a day. According to
Lenfant, M.D., C (1998) obese individuals should be placed on a weight loss plan that has a caloric
deficit of 500 k/cal to 1000 k/cal per day in order to achieve a 10% weight loss during a six month

Symptoms And Treatment Of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
In the current world population there is a large increase in people diagnosed with inflammatory
bowel diseases (IBDs), lactose intolerance and/or a combination of the two. Theories suggest that
the delayed onset of lactose intolerance, in patients who already have IBD s, may arise as
secondary lactose intolerance but only as a byproduct of the IBD. This begs the question of if the
prevalence of an IBD predisposes that same person to lactose intolerance and if so, what are the
drivers that allow this to happen? Inflammatory bowel diseases are categorized into two subset
categories, ulcerative colitis(UC) and Crohn s disease. IBD s are defined as a chronic inflammation
of all or part of a digestive tract. The inflammation takes place... Show more content on

Those who are lactose intolerant also have diminishes levels of lactase, the small intestinal enzyme
responsible for the catalysis of lactose. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some
cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance.
During infancy the vast majority of humans have the ability to digest and catabolize lactose into
glucose and galactose via the lactase enzyme. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn
mammals, given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the
weaning period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of
the lactase enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose.
While this may be the natural progression of the expression of the lactase enzyme, there remains a
large, predominantly western population that maintains a steady production of lactase, those
individuals are known as lactase persistent (Baumgart, et al.).
Lactase Persistence Causes: Lactase persistence has been strongly suggested to be a function of
genetic causes and its inheritance occurs in an autosomal recessive manner. Individuals that exhibit
the highest lactase activity are genotypically homozygous recessive for lactase persistence; where
as individuals who show lower lactase activities are heterozygous or homozygous

Face-Name Recall and Associative Memory
Furthermore, while numerous studies have investigated the effect of either mnemonic cues and

The Effects Of Video Games On The Video Game Industry
An Atmosphere Unknown This is the future of the video game industry. Imagine looking
through the eyes of your favorite video game character but in reality, you are actual sitting on
the couch. Look to the left and you see R2 D2 trying to communicate to you. To the right, you
have rebel fighters shooting at storm troopers that are attacking your home planet. Virtual reality
lets you do all of this from the comfort of your home. However, Augmented reality lets you do
this as well, but it is less virtual and more technological. Imaging walking down the street and
you see a Pikachu on the side of the road through technology based glasses. You are in the real
world, but it is modified by the use of a computer. How has Virtual and Augmented reality?
evolved the video games industry ? The history of video games goes all the way back to the
1930 s when the first coin operated entertainment was invented. The first pinball machines were
invented during this time and are still around with us today in arcades and bars around the
world. Video games around that time were actually called Electromechanical games.
Electromechanical gaming graphics were only as good as artists could draw them. However,
Electromechanical games were very limited. There was hard labor in assembling the games
because of their use of motors, coins, and mechanical brackets. Also, the cost of these components
were on the rise. Luckily, in the early 1960 s, Steve Russell programmed a PDP 1 to play a game

Serial Killer Nature Vs Nurture
Serial Killers: Nature vs. Nurture
Crime over the years has become a very popular subject. There are countless movies, shows, books
and documentaries about such events. Individuals are very entertained for one reason or another by
these types of shows. There have been many discussions, debates and research studies done
particularly pertaining to the question What causes someone to become a serial killer?
Psychologists, criminologists and scientists agree that the Nature nurture debate is the most
essential phenomenon in psychology. Researchers have conducted a lot of research to be able to
answer the question What causes a person to commit a murder? . The popular and logical
hypothesis is that criminal behavior is more complicated than it had been thought and they say
that a person s genetic makeup creates criminal behavior (It is called nature.) While others
suggest that criminal behavior is solely related with a person s upbringing and life experience
(It is called nurture.) (Newton 2006). Both opinions of this subject are on polar opposite sides.
While one side states that if0 someone has a rough childhood and are faced with severe
adversity they have a greater chance of becoming a serial killer. An example would be Edmund
Kemper. The opposing side states that a person is born with a certain set of genes that could turn
them into a serial killer. A prime example would be Ted Bundy or Charles Manson. This is a highly
diverse debate among scientists and criminologists

For My Second Practicum, I Wrote Two Lesson Plans Because
For my second practicum, I wrote two lesson plans because I wanted to allow my student to
choose what book he wanted to read. I planned a shared reading lesson over The Story of Henny
Penny by Richard Carson and an interactive reading lesson over I Think I Forgot by Mercer Mayer.
Planning for two different books was not difficult, but I had to keep in mind that my student was
only going to have the opportunity to read one of the books, and in the end, my student chose to
read The Story of Henny Penny. For this shared readinglesson, I followed the steps for a shared
reading by Gail E. Tompkins (2014). I had to adjust and adapt the steps slightly because I only see

Reread the story. 5. Continue the process. 6. Students read independently.
If I had more time or saw my student more frequently, I would make sure to include these steps
during a shared reading lesson.
After I planned the shared reading portion of the lesson, I planned a short writing activity where my
student would have the opportunity to write down the three main events from the story.
The teaching part of this lesson went in a totally different direction than I had planned. After the
picture walk, my student showed a deep interest in trying to read the book out loud on his own,
and I made the decision to let my student give the book a try. Since this book was a level above
what my student s level, I figured that after a page or so he would want me to take over the
reading. That is not what happened though.
My student read the entire book on his own with minimal error! This slight change in my lesson
plan meant that I was no longer teaching a shared reading lesson, but rather a guided reading
lesson. After my student finished reading, we proceeded with the lesson I had planned. We
discussed the story, what happened, what plot was, and then the plot of this story. Then he used
the story cards to retell the story. I labeled clothes pins with numbers one through six and had them
on a piece of yarn to symbolize that the events on the card happened in order to form a whole story.

Cannery Row Essay
In John Steinbeck s Cannery Row, Mack and his ravenous companions depart the inhospitable
coastal fog of Monterey, California, and head east toward Carmel Valley, searching for sun.
Turning down a sinuous two lane road running alongside the Carmel River, they discover an
Elysian plain basking beneath crystalline skies. Wildflowers stippled the orchards and quilted
greenery at the base of the Santa Lucia Mountain Range.
The men scoop up carrots fallen from a flatbed. Their truck runs over a rooster. They snag a bay
leaf from a tree, make a fire, and prepare a feast.
Luck, Steinbeck writes, blossomed from the first.
Steinbeck s Depression era saga was published in 1945. Exactly 20 years later, a 15 year old

Does Energy Have To Do With Acid Rain Essay
November 1st 2015
To the federal government:
The purpose behind this letter to you is to inform you with the big issue that is taking place in our
planet, which is the effect of acid rain on lakes and streams (aquatic systems).
Acid rain occurs because of the dissolution of acidic oxides in the atmosphere. When these two
compounds are released into the air, they form acid rain, which are nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide
S + O2 SO2, which is produced by natural means, like volcanoes and industrial processes such as
the burning of fossil fuels (brown coal) C + O2 CO2. The two compounds dissolve in water and are
carried very far by wind where they become part of snow and fog. Oxides from sulfur and nitrogen
react with moisture in the clouds ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though acid rain is a big issue, there are ways it can be prevented. One of the biggest ways acid
rain can be stopped is by lowering your energy consumption. Now you might think, what does
energy have to do with acid rain ? It actually has a big affect. By switching off the lights when
you leave a room, turning off your computers televisions when they aren t being used. Closing the
air conditioner/heaters when you leave your home can make a big difference, because when less
electricity is used, the pollution from power plants decreases. Power plants also known as power
station is an electric generating station
Another way acid rain can be prevented is by using fewer cars! There are so many different ways
of transportation. You can use bikes if you aren t going a long distance, you can use a train, if you
live near a friends house you can car pool, and this all decreases reliance on fossil fuels. Cars also
emit carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming which is affecting the environment. As
the temperature rises, more rain falls, which increases the risk of heavier flooding. Ice is melting,
and that is dangerous for future sea level rise. Also many countries already have very low water,
and when the climate changes it changes precipitation patterns, and increasing droughts, which is
dangerous because people are running out of water. But a positive impact is that electric cars are
better for the environment because they only use battery power, meaning there is no burning of
gasoline or other fossil

Comparison And Contrast Of The Shepherd And The Nymph
Christopher Blake Martinez Mrs. Doorway Shepherd Nymph Essay 27 September 2017
Comparison and Contrast of The Shepherd The Nymphs A comparison and contrast of The
Passionate Shepherd to His Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd reveal that these poems
both have different viewpoints on love, nature, time and the material world. In this essay, I will be
presenting how the Shepherd and the Nymph both have totally different views on love, nature,
time and the material world. In the two poems, the shepherd and the nymph both have distinctly
opposing views of love. talks about love. The shepherd believes that love will never die. He
thinks that love will live forever and will always be pure and young. An example of this is seen
in ВЁFor thy delight each May morning (line 22.) He is offering his love, and saying that he will
always show and prove his love to her. In the ВЁNymph s replyВЁ she says that she doesn t
believe that the shepherd thinks about life and how as life goes on you will lose love for
someone, it may be that you love them, but you re not in love with them the life you were when
your journey first began. She knows and understands how feelings and love will die out. It
shows in ВЁIf all the world and love were youngВЁ(line 1). In both of the poems, both the
shepherd and the nymph have distinctly opposing views of nature. The shepherd loves the
nature and how beautiful it is, he believes that nature will always be beautiful. He promises her a
bed of roses and a life of enjoying nature to its fullest. He shows this in ВЁAnd we will have the
pleasures prove, That valleys, groves, hills, and fields. Woods, or steepy mountains

this from nature, but she understands that nature isn t always beautiful and nature dies. Things
in nature will only last for a little while, then they die and new are born again. She says this in
ВЁThe flowers do fade, and wanton fieldsВЁ(line 9). In these poems, the shepherd and the
nymph have different views on time. The shepherd thinks that time will never move and time is
always going to be good and not ever be a bad time in your life. He shows this in ВЁAnd we will

The Supreme Court also referred to the Voting Rights Act with respect to the outlawing of a

Since all states fall under Federal Law that the state could not use this as a requirement. Since state

The Supreme Court also looked at the restriction of travel since this residential law was a
punishment on anyone who had made a recent interstate move. Since the right to travel is a
fundamental right there should not be any laws that restrict citizen s rights to do so if there is no
compelling government interest. In this case, citizens were burdened by having their right to vote
revoked. It seems that the reason why the court case was not more controversial was because it did
not remove the states power to impose residential qualifications in other social projects. The only
restriction on to the states was that the state cannot have a residential requirement in order to allow

The Tensile Of Tensile Test
The tensile test is a standout amongst the most normally utilized tests for assessing materials. The
tensile test is done just by grasping inverse finishes of test thing and applying elastic power with the
machine. This outcomes in continuous stretching and consequent fracture in the test thing. During
this procedure, power expansion information normally are checked and recorded. Malleable test
measures properties like extreme rigidity and most extreme stretching specifically simultaneously,
utilizing these estimations different properties, for example, Young s Modulus, Poisson s
proportion and yield quality can likewise be resolved. At the point when appropriately directed, the
pliable test results power expansion information that can measure a few vital mechanical properties
of a material. The ductile test led for this paper is done in room temperature under the ISO 6892 1
standard.

Compare and Contrast: The Great Gatsby Of Mice and Men
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. (Fitzgerald, 180). In
the book The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald covers the American dream from someone who
lives it during the roaring twenties. The book was about a man named, Nick, who lived in the
West Egg in New York next to Jay Gatsby
, a newly wealthy man. Then ten years later in the book,
Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck covers the American dream during the height of the Great
Depression. This book is about two men, George and Lennie, who are trying to achieve their dream
by working at a ranch. The books depict how the American dream ... Show more content on

This farm was mentioned several times in the book. This thing they had never really believed in
was coming true. (Steinbeck, 66) This dream that George kept telling Lennie was what it was, a
dream. This is what kept George and Lennie working and together, the hope that one day they
could actually get the house and animals they desired. While working at the ranch they met a
man named Candy, an old man who had lost his hand while on the ranch. One of the other really
important symbols in Of Mice and Men was Candy s dog. Well hell! I had him so long. Had him
since he was a pup. I herded sheep with him. He said proudly, You wouldn t think it to look at
him now, but he was the best damn sheep dog I ever seen. (Steinbeck, 49) This was an old dog
who was too old to do any work and he was in pain all the time. This symbolizes the past, and how
fast something can change. The roaring twenties was a period of great change represented in the
book The Great

Conflict, Power, and Influence in Interpersonal Communication
Conflict management deals with many levels of communications. Power and influence play a
key role in how conflict is resolved in situations involving conflict. The film Lean On Me was
first and foremost about transformation on several different levels. At first glance the tactics of
Crazy Joe Clark seem harsh and arbitrary. It helps to understand that Joe Clark in real life was a
sergeant in the Army reserves. (Gallene 1989) Much of the tactics displayed in the movie would
be familiar to anyone who had ever been to boot camp. It is a tenant of modern police training that
under stress people will revert to their latest or strongest training. For many years as a principal of

The movie does not say. However, the real Joe Clark was the master of using a dramatic gesture
to make at point. Communication played a key role in how Principal Joe Clark chose to
communicate with the students at Eastside High. Because of his impressive reputation and power,
he was brought back at the school in hopes to make changes to the severe demise of the school. He
was given the mission and assignment to change the environment of the school that had become
violent with very low test scores and rapid drug use. The students lacked respect not only for the
faculty, staff and other students but also for the school in which they attended. As the movie takes
places and Joe Clark accepts the assignment as Eastside High school principal, he is very disturbed
at what has become of the school. One of his many strategies that he used was his power to
influence the attitudes and behaviors of Eastside High students which left him with a no
nonsense reputation and the credit of named one of the nations 10 Principals of Leadership by
the governor of New Jersey in 1986. As a former drill sergeant of the Army, Joe Clark used his
skills of tough discipline in an effort make some very drastic changes to the school. Although many
of his methods were thought of as irrational and intimidating, he was willing to take steps he felt
necessary make these changes occur. He realized that the task was far greater than what he initially
accepted, but used his power

What Is Male Dominance In The Yellow Wallpaper
Introduction
Charlotte Perkins Gilman is an author, but also a well known feminist who believed that
heterosexuality had become the means by which men subjected women through an economic
dependency . (feminism 1) Throughout my research there is one word that best describes the era of
a male dominated and controlled society, Patriarch! During this period of male dominance, Gilman
wrote The Yellow Wallpaperto prove a point and to get Dr. Weir Mitchell to change his ways. (3).
Gilman suffered from neurasthenic, melancholia, suicidal depression and after the birth of her
child post partum depression. Gilman was a patient of Dr. Mitchell and was prescribed the Rest
Cure , which is to rest and never write again. Gilman follows the recommended prescription for a
month but found it was weakening her intellect. The Yellow Wallpaper was written during the time
of a patriarchal society and the reader becomes witness to male dominance. The male dominance in

The Verbal Incongruity In Shakespeare s Othello
Shakespeare s plays depend to a great extent on incongruity. There are three sorts of incongruity
introduced in this novel. They are: situational, verbal, and sensational. Incongruity assumes an
imperative part in Othello. It makes anticipation, also adds enthusiasm to the story.
There are numerous cases of situational incongruity in this play. Cassio was the one Iago needed
dead or out of his position. Toward the end of the play, Cassio was the stand out that did not bite
the dust and Othello really advanced him to a higher position. At last Iago never finishes what he
began to do to give just desserts to Othello and take Cassio s spot. Both Othello and Iago treat their
wives horrendously. Both slaughtered their wives even through their ... Show more content on

Othello frequently said things that were really the inverse of Iago: O, thou craftsmanship
insightful! and Tis certain (Act IV, Scene I), Fair Iago . . . (Act V, Scene II), (Act II, Scene, III)
and (Act I, Scene, III), I know, Iago, Thy genuineness and adoration doth mince this matter (Act
II, Scene III). These lines are simply a couple of the humorous that Othello says to Iago. They
demonstrate the trust that Othello erroneously puts in his closest companion. Most things Iago
says are humorous and he s continually lying. Othello still thought of him as his closest
companion yet Iago was the one and only Othello trusted in spite of the fact that he was
continually lying. He says, My ruler, you know I cherish you (Act III, Scene II). This is an
obtrusive untruth Iago does also would do anything to make his lord s life hopeless. He doesn t
love Othello. One line that Iago says is exceptionally humorous in a few ways. He says, O, be
careful, my master, of desire! It is the green looked at creature, which doth mock the meat it
encourages on (Act III, Scene III). This line covers numerous things in light of the fact that desire
is the reason Iago is selling out Othello and demolishing other people s lives in any case.
Additionally, desire is the thing that causes Othello to in the end execute his wife. Simply a short

The paper was suspended using a toothpick that was put through the top of the paper, which was

The Conflict Of The Civil Republic Of Yugoslavia
1. Introduction
Whilst both Palestine have distinct cases for statehood, there cases have also many similarities.
Kosovo struggle for statehood has been going on since the collapse of Soviet Federal Republic of
Yugoslavia in 1992. Whilst the Palestinian campaign for statehood has endured since 1948.
Examining both of their cases under the theories of statehood and recognition, neither country
emerges with a conclusive case for statehood. However, Palestine has the objectively easier case. In
order to assess each case for statehood, first one must analyse the different eligibility for statehood
under the right to self determination. Next, one must evaluate the cases for statehood in respect to
the different theories of statehood. Following that, one should evaluate each entity s case for
recognition. Having completed the above process, it will become clear whether either state or both
states have a strong case for statehood.
2. Self Determination
For states to recognise an entity s status as a state, they must place great importance on whether the
entity has the right to self determination. This right initially arose in the context of de colonisation
after World War II as a demand for a people s equal rights to be independent and represented in front
of the international community. The right to self determination is the right to freely determine their
political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development . It has carried

Baumol Model Of Cash Management
It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance
under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash
balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity
costs) and the transactional costs.
Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash.
Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when
the firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities. It is also known as interest rate because
it is the interest rate that are foregone by the firm by not investing in marketable securities.
Just like all most model, the Baumol model works with assumptions. The first assumption is that
the firm must be able to forecast its cash requirements and receive a specific flow of cash at
regular intervals. Its cash flows must be certain. The other assumption is that the firm must be able
to change to change the securities that it owns into cash keeping the variable and fixed costs of
transactions the same. The firm must also be aware of it opportunity cost when holding cash. The
opportunity cost should stay constant for a long period of time.

Understanding Email Threats
Time is a scare resource. Everyday people make decisions on how to allocate the finite amount of
minutes they have during day. In the business world, the waste of time is a luxury organizations
can seldom afford. Checking emails, answering phone calls, and other daily tasks, become a hassle
when the majority of these activities interrupt the workflow of a person.
The use of email adds another layer of complexity for organization. Email has become a de facto
medium to spread malware, propagate scams, and attack a system. The stories of people being
scammed via emails are no longer urban legends. Businesses must do everything they can to
minimize their exposure to threats.
Understanding Email Threats Spam and Phishing are the two major types of email attacks.
Organizations need to clearly understand what these terms mean in order to assess their impact and
minimize their spread. Spam is unsolicited commercial e mail. Phishing, on the other hand, uses
legitimately looking emails that trick the receiver into giving out sensitive information (Boyle
Panko, 2015). Spam is the annoying email promising the reader to get rich, skinny, prettier etc.

Trudeau’s Imposition of the WMA in Canada Essay example
Since the Confederation of Canada until today, the province of Quebec has always wanted
become its own nation by separating from Canada. As a result, Canada s scariest ever terrorist
group, the Front de LibГ©ration de Quebec (FLQ), wrote the darkest chapter in Canadian
history, The October Crisis. To end the terror, Canadian Prime Minister, Trudeau, was forced to
invoke the War Measures Act (WMA) during his term in 1970 which was flawed with
disapproval and controversy since it was the first time the Act was used during peacetime.
However, despite the criticism, his decision to invoke the War Measures Act was reasonable
because of the fear presented by the FLQ, the public and governmental demands, and the end result
of the October Crisis.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The manifesto stated that there are 100,000 revolutionary workers, armed and organized! This
statement was one of the major factors in the implementation of the WMA. This is because the high
number stated by the FLQ caused anxiety in Canadians especially the police as they were uncertain
the number was accurate. The chief of the Montreal police, Marcel Saint Aubin, stated that, the
police of Montreal could not handle maintain peace and order in Quebec as well as so investigations
regarding the FLQ. He asked for the federal government to interfere and send the military so the
police and military can work together. This request from the chief of the MontrГ©al police and the
uncertain number of FLQ members is another reason for Trudeau s implementation. Therefore, the
fear caused by the FLQ was terrifying resulting in the WMA.
In 1970, despite the robust disapproval by separatists, civil rights activist and intellectuals , the
majority of Canadians was largely supportive of Trudeau s decision in invoking the WMA. As well
as, the provincial and municipal governments of Quebec and MontrГ©al, respectively, requested
Prime Minister Trudeau for assistance in this outbreak. On November, 1970, Gallup, a public
opinion polling company, surveyed Canadians, asking them, In general do you approve, or

He asks the question, How much more garbage will college basketball take from this person
(Watts 1)? I will not argue with Watts that Bobby Knight practices poor behavior from time to
time. The choking of a player and assaulting of individuals has no place in society, never the less
college athletics. Watts feels that a permanent timeout and firing is the answer to end the negative
image portrayed by coach Knight. He feels Knight needs to be removed from his coaching duties
and denied the excuses that have been given to him for countless years: He is just a competitive
driven individual. This clique has been the support and back bone for Bobby Knight for many years.
In comparison to Knight, Watts feels that Dennis Rodman and Mike Tyson are in similar
categories. Mike Tyson bites off an opponent s ear...and we call him a manic depressive . Dennis
Rodman acts like Dennis Rodman and we call him a nut (Watts 1). These comparisons may have
similar references in a way, but we need to look at Bobby Knight with the positives that he has
brought to the game of college basketball. Sure he may be the King of the rude and crude as said
in the comical comment by Watts (Watts 1). Or maybe he will continue to create off court
problems. But before anyone wants to look to oust a coaching icon, people should look to the
positives. Although Watts and other various critics feel Bobby Knight should be released of his

Homophobia In Canada
As time has progressed, Canadian society has adapted an increasingly liberal attitude towards
controversial subjects. Such changes have thereby prompted an evident surge of positive perceptual
changes within the nation. Various prominent social advancements in Canadian history consist of
the recognition of coloured individuals, multiple movements for gender equality and the
acknowledgement of the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender population, also

Homophobia is the concept in which people are hateful or fearful towards lesbians and gays
(Dictionary.com, 2014). Fear and revulsion of the LGBT population commonly emanate from
religious concepts or traditional ideas of society. In 2011, 18% of hate crimes based upon sexual
orientation were reported, however, the number proved to be higher than expected due to the fact
that many more individuals are reporting these crimes to the authorities (Northhumberland View,
2013). This further demonstrates the progression of LGBT rights in Canadian society due to the
fact that lesbian, gay and transgender individuals alike feel comfortable enough to report these
matters to the police and receive justice rather than allowing the issue to go unnoticed out of fear of
being judged. Also, though many laws have been implemented to prevent discrimination, it is a
reality in which many members of the LGBT community still face today. In terms of bullying, 25%
of homosexual adolescents reported being physically harassed by heterosexual peers in 2009 (CBC,
2010). However, in 2002 approximately one third of homosexual students were harassed based upon
their sexuality (Riese, 2014). Although discrimination and bullying based upon sexual orientation
is prevalent in today s society, Canadians have become more accustomed to the idea of
homosexuality which is reflected through the decrease in the amount of harassment that occurs.
However, with adequate education and continuous learning about the matter, discrimination based
upon sexuality can be virtually eliminated in the

  • 2. Examples Of Racism In The Native Son The Native Son by Richard Wright took place in Chicago, Illinois during the nineteen thirties. The protagonist, Bigger Thomas, is a twenty year old African American boy who hates white supremacy and racism. He is involved with gangs and is constantly disappointing his family. Since Mr. Thomas (Bigger s father) died, Bigger s family has lost everything. The family of four lives in a tiny rat infested apartment, and has barely enough money to survive. Bigger s mother wants Bigger to get a job as a chauffeur. Bigger, on the other hand, has other ideas. Bigger Thomas his friends, Gus, G. H., and Jack, were going to meet before they went out to go rob a store, but this robbery wasn t going to be like any other robbery that they have done before.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sound effects were out of place and did not fit with the moods of some scenes. Also, the acting was not up to par for such an influential novel. The movie leaves out many scenes that show Bigger s viciousness, such as, him forcing Gus to lick his knife. After reading the novel, those scenes feel flat, but Young Oprah Winfrey plays Bigger s mother. That means everyone can enjoy the film. In addition, the movie changes how the audience views the story of Bigger by putting the novel in context of the thirties. People can view the story instead of just imagining it. People who grew up in the twenty first century would have never imagined how the city and houses looked. It provided a visual aspect of the story which added even more suspense to the already suspenseful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ballistics Reflection Essay Good Evening Mr. Yolen, I just wanted to get in touch with you regarding a couple things that have been on my mind. Hopefully you can help me out with my situations. First and foremost I am extremely discouraged about the grade I have in your class right now as it does not reflect at all what I have put in. Starting from the beginning of the year, I understand what I did wrong on the Engineering Presentation. Where I am a little disappointed is where for example, on the 4.2 Linear Motion homework, you gave me a C+ and out of the whole assignment you only crossed out the word usually . Also, on the 4.2.2 Projectile Motion homework, you gave me an F because I read one of the questions wrong even though I had written the correct answer on the paper and I wrote down for the third question 1) Initial Velocity, 2) Firing Angle which I understand why it was unnecessary to put it down, and 3) Gravity. For these 2 minuscule mistakes on this sheet, I do not think it is an F quality homework. I have both of these sheets still on file and will take a picture of them for your review because I truly feel like those should be changed but that is up to you in the end. In regards to the Ballistics Quiz, I do not know what went wrong as I did very well with the classwork you assigned but there is nothing I could do about that now. Second, I am also quite upset about my results on the whole Ballistics Project. I wanted to inform you that without even getting the assignment back, I feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Broken Arm Or Just A Muscle Torch Research Paper Broken Arm or Just a Muscle Stretch You always sit in that room and play your silly video game, can you at least go outside for a walk or something? Mom screamed. It was a beautiful sunny day. One of those pleasant, brilliant days that all you want to do is relax on the beach. Sit under a colossal umbrella, drink some kind of icy lemonade and not think about anything. But at the same time, the sun was like a lava from an erupting volcano . The more you were standing in the sun without cover, the worst it gets. The sun was striking with its brightness like a lightning, super bright and sparkly. Well, she never said that in English, she shrieked that in Ukrainian with inappropriate language. The translation is better. She walked in, like a bull entering arena. She closed the door gently. • 5. Questionnaire Chapter 5 QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN AND SCALE DEVELOPMENT Naresh K. Malhotra, Georgia Institute of Technology Introduction This chapter describes the importance of a questionnaire and presents the process for developing questionnaires and observational forms. Guidelines for questionnaire construction are provided at each stage of the process. In addition, commonly used scaling techniques and use of questionnaires in experimentation are discussed and the design of observational forms is presented.1 What Is a Questionnaire? A questionnaire is a formalized set of questions for obtaining information from respondents. The overriding objective is to translate the researcher s information needs into a set of specific questions that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are exceptions to this rule. Filler questions may be added to disguise the purpose or sponsorship of the project. For example, in brand studies, a researcher may include questions about the full range of competing brands so that the respondents won t know who is sponsoring the study. Early in the interviewing process when the researcher is attempting to build a relationship with respondents and capture their attention, a few easy to answer neutral questions may be helpful. At times, certain questions may also be repeated for the purpose of assessing reliability or validity. Are Several Questions Needed Instead of One? In some cases, two questions are better than one. However, asking two questions in one is not the solution. Consider the following question: Do you think JC Penney offers better variety and prices than other department stores stores? (Incorrect) A yes answer will presumably be clear, but what if the answer is no ? Does this mean that the respondent thinks that JC Penney does not offer better variety, that it does not offer better prices, or that it neither offers better variety nor better prices? Such a question is called a doublebarreled question because two or more questions are combined into one. To avoid confusion, these questions should be asked separately, 178 178 Do you think JC Penney offers better variety than other department stores? It has been told that engaging on Corporate Social Responsibility is a cost, but recently has been demonstrated that if it is well managed the money that you put on CSR implementation can be taken into account as an investment. At the early age of twenty seven he wrote one of the world s greatest books, The Institutes of the Christian Religion, when he died at Geneva in 1564 he bequeathed to the world the great principles of democracy and religious freedom. The other brother, Charles, pursued a course of profligacy and dissipation and lived life as worthless and infamous as his brother s life was noble and glorious. How do you explain the difference between those two men? Not heredity, not in environment, not in education, for they had the same heredity, the same environment, the same home, the same early influences. The difference is to be explained in choice. We are plagued with many choices in our lives. Choices from marriage, to living, work, family, etc. A Researcher from Columbia did a study and found that the average person makes about 70 decisions every day. That s 25,500 decisions a year. Over 70 years, that s 1,788,500 decisions. But There is one awkward question that demands a decision which has eternal consequences. How will you respond to Jesus? Hockley In Titanic The Titanic Depth of the Heart of the Ocean Ahh, open your heart to me, Rose, pleads Caledon Hockley of the young Rose in James Cameron s film, Titanic, just after he gives her a most expensive diamond. The actor Billy Zane plays Hockley as a callous, jaded, been there done that sophisticate who seems to want her heart simply because he believes it is for sale and he has a right to it. His blindness to higher motives in love totally disqualifies him from being worthy of Rose DeWitt Bukater, played by Kate Winslet. People explore wrecks for the challenge and for scientific purposes, but Cameron has Brock Lovett, played by Bill Paxton, and his salvage crew searching for a diamond. This motivation works on two levels. It gives a reason for the dangerous and expensive dive that the people sitting in the dark theater can appreciate. Many people in this materialistic world can relate to and understand betting one s life and fortune on a diamond that rivals the Hope diamond in value. Cummings had a unique career and writing style. Over time, he developed his writing style to become an innovative poet because of his lack of stylistic and structural conformity. After publishing quality poems for much of his career, he eventually found wide recognition. In his work, Cummings experimented radically with form, punctuation, spelling, and syntax, and by abandoning traditional techniques and structures to create a new, highly idiosyncratic means of poetic expression, he challenged the status quo in literature and poetry. This is highly reflective of his writing, however, later in his career, Cummings was often criticized for becoming more conservative and less progressive with his work. E.E. Cummings ultimately refined his signature style and avoided pressing his work toward further evolution. Nevertheless, he attained great popularity, especially among young readers, for the simplicity of his language, his playful mode, and his attention to subjects such as war and sex. The poet and critic Randall Jarrell once said that Cummings is one of the most individual poets who ever lived, and though it sometimes seems so, it is not just his vices and exaggerations, the defects of his qualities, that make a writer popular. But, primarily, Mr. Cummings s poems are loved because they are full of sentimentally, of sex, of more or less improper jokes, of elementary lyric insistence. Clearly, Cummings work was rebellious and contrarian to traditional literature. E.E. Cummings was part of the Modern literary period. Other famous American poets from this era include Robert Frost, Langston Hughes, E. St. V. Millay, Audre Lord, Walt Whitman, and Edwin Arlington. This literary period had a profound impact on Cummings work and even world events influenced his poems. Over the course of E.E. Cummings career, several major world events took place. Calvert said, The period in which Robert Lowell wrote has been called The Age of Lowell, a testament to his genius as a poet, and this poet was truly a genius. Lowell was born on March 1, 1917 and died on September 12, 1977. Throughout his lifetime, Lowell wrote many poems and even a few books, but he is mostly famous for his works of poetryand the movement in which he utilized. Temple Cone simply stated that Skunk Hour is an important example of confessional poetry and this is a true statement. This poem also has aspects of Lowell s life; more specifically, aspects of Lowell s personal, psychology life, (Cone). The man in the poem is described as ill and this depicts Lowell s personal, psychology life, (Cone). Another clue that points out that this is a Confessional Poem, is found in lines one through three: Nautilus Island s hermit / heiress still through winter in her Spartan Cottage; / her sheep still graze above the sea, (Lowell). These lines actually depict where Lowell, a man who comes from a very old, upper class American family, spent several summers: Castine, Maine. The setting of this poem alone tells the reader that this is confessional poetry. The poem is set up in a place Lowell is very familiar with; this is partly why this poem is considered Confessional. In the poem, the narrator seems to be struggling in life and is almost depressed and then this skunk appears. The skunk in the poem provides a counterforce to the devastating effects of the world at large, and it distracts the speaker from his depression and therefore turn his focus to survival rather than thriving (Cone). This counterforce or skunk can be seen in the last two stanzas of the poem. Lowell describes the illness or depression that the speaker is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symptoms And Treatment Of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases In the current world population there is a large increase in people diagnosed with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs), lactose intolerance and/or a combination of the two. Theories suggest that the delayed onset of lactose intolerance, in patients who already have IBD s, may arise as secondary lactose intolerance but only as a byproduct of the IBD. This begs the question of if the prevalence of an IBD predisposes that same person to lactose intolerance and if so, what are the drivers that allow this to happen? Those who are lactose intolerant also have diminishes levels of lactase, the small intestinal enzyme responsible for the catalysis of lactose. Dietary supplementation of the lactase enzyme has, in some cases, proven to rectify the symptoms of lactose intolerance. During infancy the vast majority of humans have the ability to digest and catabolize lactose into glucose and galactose via the lactase enzyme. This catabolic capability is vital for newborn mammals, given that their primary source of nutrition comes from their mother s milk. During the weaning period, when children cease to use milk as a primary source of nutrition, the production of the lactase enzyme severely deteriorates and eventually leads to the inability to catabolize lactose. While this may be the natural progression of the expression of the lactase enzyme, there remains a large, predominantly western population that maintains a steady production of lactase, those individuals are known as lactase persistent (Baumgart, et al.). Lactase Persistence Causes: Lactase persistence has been strongly suggested to be a function of genetic causes and its inheritance occurs in an autosomal recessive manner. The popular and logical hypothesis is that criminal behavior is more complicated than it had been thought and they say that a person s genetic makeup creates criminal behavior (It is called nature.) While others suggest that criminal behavior is solely related with a person s upbringing and life experience (It is called nurture.) (Newton 2006). Acid rain occurs because of the dissolution of acidic oxides in the atmosphere. When these two compounds are released into the air, they form acid rain, which are nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide S + O2 SO2, which is produced by natural means, like volcanoes and industrial processes such as the burning of fossil fuels (brown coal) C + O2 CO2. In the two poems, the shepherd and the nymph both have distinctly opposing views of love. talks about love. The shepherd believes that love will never die. He thinks that love will live forever and will always be pure and young. An example of this is seen in ВЁFor thy delight each May morning (line 22.) He is offering his love, and saying that he will always show and prove his love to her. In the ВЁNymph s replyВЁ she says that she doesn t believe that the shepherd thinks about life and how as life goes on you will lose love for someone, it may be that you love them, but you re not in love with them the life you were when your journey first began. She knows and understands how feelings and love will die out. It shows in ВЁIf all the world and love were youngВЁ(line 1). In both of the poems, both the shepherd and the nymph have distinctly opposing views of nature. The shepherd loves the nature and how beautiful it is, he believes that nature will always be beautiful. He promises her a bed of roses and a life of enjoying nature to its fullest. He shows this in ВЁAnd we will have the pleasures prove, That valleys, groves, hills, and fields. Woods, or steepy mountains yields.ВЁ(lines 1 4). In the ВЁnymph s replyВЁ she says how the shepherd may promise all of this from nature, but she understands that nature isn t always beautiful and nature dies. Things in nature will only last for a little while, then they die and new are born again. She says this in ВЁThe flowers do fade, and wanton fieldsВЁ(line 9). In these poems, the shepherd and the nymph have different views on time. The shepherd thinks that time will never move and time is always going to be good and not ever be a bad time in your life. He shows this in ВЁAnd we will all the pleasures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Supreme Court also referred to the Voting Rights Act with respect to the outlawing of a durational residential requirement in voting in the presidential and vice presidential elections. Since all states fall under Federal Law that the state could not use this as a requirement. Since state matters are different though they concluded that anything longer than 30 days would be too long. The Supreme Court also looked at the restriction of travel since this residential law was a punishment on anyone who had made a recent interstate move. Since the right to travel is a fundamental right there should not be any laws that restrict citizen s rights to do so if there is no compelling government interest. In this case, citizens were burdened by having their right to vote revoked. It seems that the reason why the court case was not more controversial was because it did not remove the states power to impose residential qualifications in other social projects. Kosovo struggle for statehood has been going on since the collapse of Soviet Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992. Whilst the Palestinian campaign for statehood has endured since 1948. Examining both of their cases under the theories of statehood and recognition, neither country emerges with a conclusive case for statehood. However, Palestine has the objectively easier case. In order to assess each case for statehood, first one must analyse the different eligibility for statehood under the right to self determination. Next, one must evaluate the cases for statehood in respect to the different theories of statehood. Following that, one should evaluate each entity s case for recognition. Having completed the above process, it will become clear whether either state or both states have a strong case for statehood. 2. Self Determination For states to recognise an entity s status as a state, they must place great importance on whether the entity has the right to self determination. • 48. Baumol Model Of Cash Management It was developed by William J. Baumol. The model helps determine a firm s optimum cash balance under certainty. It is used for cash management. The model helps firms determine the optimum cash balances that they can keep by considering costs. The costs involved are holding costs (opportunity costs) and the transactional costs. Transactional costs are the costs incurred when changing between marketable security and cash. Holding costs are costs incurred when keeping cash. Opportunity costs are the costs incurred when the firm chooses to keep cash instead of buying securities.
