Summary Of Will Storr s Visit To Past Life
In the previous chapter, Will Storr visited a Past Life Regression therapist who essentially opened
the floodgates of his mind. This inspired his decision to take some time in the Blue Mountains of
Australia to meditate in this chapter. While he intended to enroll in the Vipassana Meditation
Center s meditation session purely for the purpose of a mental retreat, Storr quickly discovered
that it was also a physically taxing experience. He got so into his own zone that he found himself
unable to help others who were more obviously struggling alongside him. This lead him to wonder
about the origin and function of cognitive dissonance why do we feel one thing and say or do
another? He cited many psychological experiments before coming to the... Show more content on

For example, people in the study believed they were more likely to win the lottery if they chose the
numbers versus having the numbers randomly generated. Assuming that the individual choosing
the numbers knows no more about the winning sequence than the random generator, then this
notion is illogical. Choosing is as arbitrary by a person as a random generator the only difference
is that people often choose numbers with sentimental value, such as a birthday, anniversary, or
favorite number. However, in this particular instance, people felt that their odds were increased
when they chose the numbers despite no apparent logical reason to think so ergo, the illusion of
control (Sanger). It is important to note that the illusion of control had no measurable effect in this
scenario whether people chose their numbers or not, their odds did not change. I think this implies
that even when we are able to achieve unity between our interior and exterior selves, some things
are simply out of our self s reach. Sometimes, other factors are simply too powerful to ignore;
consequently, they are given control. Is it not possible that this could relate to the disconnect we
feel between our interior and exterior selves, particularly in stressful

Financial Markets
Historical View of Financial Markets and Financial Institutions
Economics of Money and Banking
Professor E. Todd
February 16, 2012
Many issues have changed within financial markets and institutions. Many years ago, even BC,
there were banking institutions available. Transactions were very informal in the early years to
extremely formal in the present day. Financial Markets and Institutions have progressed
considerably in the last 50 years. More opportunities of different types have evolved and are
available for us to become involved in. Opportunities to invest, save and acquire loans have
progressed considerably in financial markets and institutions.
What are financial institutions?
The two types of financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many individuals depend on the sound functioning of our banking system in order to pay bills,
save, invest, and provide for their future. When banks are unable to fulfill their duties to the
economy due to over speculation or poor risk assessment, it is the role of the regulators to step in
and right the ship.
Once technology was introduced to the banking world many things changed. Banking and any
transactions related to banking had to be done in person. Along came the telephone, in which
allowed banking to be conducted at home or work. A phone call is what it took to have
transaction implemented. The age of ATM s (Automatic Teller Machines) allowed banking 24
hours a day. Debit cards and Credit cards allowed us to transfer monies or put things on credit
instantly. Next came the era of online banking and electronic transfers of money, which allows us
to take care of many other transactions instantly. From the 1st day until today the every changing
world of banking changes the way we live and we do business.
Credit unions go back to 1852 in Germany. A credit union is mutual owned by the people who
deposit money into the credit union. Credit unions offer saving, loans, or credit and other financial
services. The credit union will use its own money deposited in the bank to lend out to members.

Late sleepers like inside staterooms because early daylight won t disturb them.
Suites are the most expensive accommodations on a ship. Some vessels have only a few, others
boast an entire upper, conciergelike deck madeup of larger staterooms and/or suites. By the
traditional definition, a suite should feature a living room, a sleeping room and a bathroom. This

When cruise clients and travel agents study a deck plan, they should carefully examine the
relationship of a stateroom to the ship s public places,
Miscellaneous Considerations
What else should you know about cruise ships? Here are some thoughts:
* A ship s registry usually has nothing to do with where the line is headquartered. Financial,
legal, labor, and routing concerns tend to dictate the shup s registry. The name of the country
where the ship is registered is usually painted on the exterior of the vessel s stern and the ship
flies that country s flag.(This is called flag of convenience.) * On some ships smoking is
permitted almost everywhere onboard. On most its limited to certain officially designated
places. One or two ships are smoke free. * Where do ships go when they retire ? Some are turned
into scraped metal(mostly in India). Others are parked at ports(especially in Greece and in
Bahamas), with the hope that someone will buy, refurbish, and return them to active cruising. *

Religious Beliefs And The Role Of Dress In The Religious...
Religious ideologies regarding dress are based on religious organizations individual dogmas, who
believe that your outwardly appearance should reflect your inner beliefs. Similarly, adhering to a
strict code of dress, that symbolizes its group s traditions and customs, also helps in controlling
the body s sexuality. Hunt Hurst and Miller Spillman (2012) stated that being well dressed
(modestly) is a religious duty and not a personal preference (p. 266). Dress in a matter of speaking
is an outwardly symbol of religious identification and showing ones connectedness to their religious
organization. Arthur (n.d.) believes a group identity is projected through dress because people use
self presentation and self promotion to visually present identity that is congruent with their belief
systems (Religionand Dress, para. 1). Since each religious organization perceives the role of dress,
as it pertains to the expression of identity, differently one must also understand the basis of said
religious organizations beliefs in order to comprehend how their beliefs mirror the role of dress.
Islamis a monotheistic faith, one that believes in a single God, emphasizes submission to God or
Allah, as well as the group over the individual. The Qur an, the literal word of God, lays out the
role of dress and its meaning for both men and women (Hunt Hurst Miller Spillman, 2012; Islam,
2017). According to the Qur an men are to lower their gaze and be modest, which is purer for them,

John Wilkes Booth s Assassination
John Wilkes Booth is an important figure of history because he assassinated Abraham Lincoln.
President Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America; he was
assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 15, 1865. The Civil War had just finished, and the
Union was victorious. Meanwhile, Booth was a Confederate supporter. Booth had many factors to
motivate him to killLincoln, but there were some very important ones that are probably the reason
he killed Lincoln.
First, Booth thought Lincoln was a tyrant and should be killed. After Booth shot President Lincoln
he jumped off stage and yelled Sic semper tyrannis! (Thus ever to tyrants) The south is avenged!
This shows that Booth thinks Lincoln is a tyrant. Also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to biography.com it says Tell mother... I died for my country. This is implying that he
is willing to risk his life to save the country because he thought Lincoln was a bad person and he
was the reason the Confederates lost the war. Additionally, biography.com says that Booth became
involved with a kidnapping plan. It also says the plan including bringing him to Richmond and
either demand peace or the release of Confederate supporters. In this piece of evidence he is saying
that he wants to have revenge and avenge the south. When he jumped off of the stage he yelled the
south is avenged. That also says that he thinks he is getting revenge for the south.
Additionally, he is mad that his kidnapping plan didn t work. biography.com says Frustrated at
seeing his plot fail Booth resolved to go to an even further extreme. This is saying that Booth was
frustrated that his plot failed, and he was going to assassinate the president. biography.com also
says Booth enlisted six southern sympathizers, but their March 1865 attempt in Washington D.C
failed. This shows his support of the South, and it also shows how their plan failed.
John Wilkes Booth, the murderer of Lincoln, had many reasons for his actions. This is very
important to people because there still might be some unknown factors for why John Wilkes Booth
slaughtered Lincoln. Booth thought that assassinating Lincoln was a good idea, but it really only
turned him into a hated and despised

The Documentary Whale Rider By Witi Ihimaera
Nikki Caro Whale Rider Speech
Hello Year 8, my name is Nikki Caro and today I am going to talk to you about the film Whale
Rider. I directed Whale Rider in 2002. I did not write the plot by I was adapting he book Whale
Rider written by Witi Ihimaera. When I was directing the film I wanted to keep the traditional
Maori culture as a main feature of the film and also represent the changes to the culture through
generational differences. Today I will be talking to you about how I used filmic techniques to
represent the strong sense of Maori culture and to show the generational differences between the
Maori elders and the modern world. I will show the use of filmic techniques through two short film
extracts from Whale Rider

I then showed Nanny Flowers talking to Koro saying No good to you, you reckon? , Koro then
shh s her. This scene shows how Nanny flowers sees Pai potential and how she can adapt to the
modern world of women s leadership. This is the first time we can see the changing cultural
traditions in this clip.
When the children are performing, we can see how they have less respect for the culture by
mucking up and not concentrating. I showed this disrespect by doing a full length shot on all the
kids and then zooming in on Pai s face showing her in shock. I also added in a scene showing the
community laughing. This scene shows how the whole community isn t committed to their culture.
Pai is the only child who doesn t find this disrespect funny. This scene shows how Pai is fully
committed to her culture and the generational differences between the elders and the new
generation. The new generation in the film do care about their culture which is the complete
opposite to the elder generations who show full respect to their ancestors.
When Pai s father, Porourangi arrives, the mise en scene of their surroundings is important because
it connects them with their culture. Their surroundings include carvings and cultures of their
ancestors and their Gods .
In the second film extract, I started the scene by doing an establishing shot on the whale rider,

Analysis Of The Book The Wizard Of Oz
The Wizard of OZomoness There is no place like home, Which could not be more true for the
most of us, is a famous quote from The Wizard Of OZ, a movie about a girl who finds herself in a
world different from hers, wishing to return to her farm in Kansas. Along the way, she discovers
many things about herself that she never thought she was capable of. Although her time in the Land
of OZwas just a dream, it sends powerful messages. Not only that there is no place like home,
but that in our dreams we realize who we are. The outside world never sees who we truly are or
what makes us happy. We feel a need to conform to society and act how other people act, so that
we don t stand out. Why wouldn t people express themselves for who they truly are? Bird
Clarkson, a man on a mission, seems to ask a similar question. Clarkson, a faculty member in the
Communication and ARTS Department at Central Michigan University, entered a piece in the
ArtPrize 2016 competition in Grand Rapids (MI) named The Wizard of Ozomoness. It is an
interpretive dance play of sorts that is meant to get kids or people alike to express themselves and
let them know that their dreams can come true. The piece we chose was the backdrop of the
Emerald Citythat is meant for this play and we evaluated how its appearance and representation of a
dream world further emphasized the meaning of the piece. We proved this by interpreting its
physical attributes, with interviews with people observing the piece and with a

The Most Important People In My Life
They say families always are there for you all the time that they are the most important people in
your life. In this case, that is true they are, but at the same time friends become more than that
which makes them be part of the family. The people that help me accomplish my goals would be
my mom, stepfather and my boyfriend.
My mom s name is Maria Reyes, and she currently lives in Brownsville, Texas about 1,318 miles
away from here in Iowa. She is works as secretary for two companies; she has been doing this more
than 15 years. My mother would prefer for me to focus on school because she was very intelligent
when she was my age. She notices that I love sports when I was very young like around 7 years
old therefore she allowed me to play sports. She was worried that I will only focus on sports and
not school. I got to my senior year; my mother started noticing that I was getting emails from
different colleges to compete for cross country and track so she finally realize it was time to let
her daughter do what she loves to do which was running. She started supporting me in going to
William Penn University, so she helped buy what I needed to start my journey here in Iowa. She
motivated me each day to do really good in school and sports in my senior year. She is
everything to me because she helped get me this far with my dreams of actually competing in
college and going out of state to do pursue my career. She is the reason why I am here today

Good Versus Evil In The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight (2008), directed by Christopher Nolan, demonstrates the idea of good versus evil.
Batman is known as the protagonist, and Joker is known as the ultimate villain. The representation
of crime in the film is seen from the actions of both characters. The film essentially depicts the act
of deviance meaning, behaviour that violates social norms, including laws . In normality the
government would have the greatest amount of power, but in the Gotham city, power is complex.
There is minimal structure of law and order in Gotham city due to powerful people like Batmanand
the Joker. Citizens of Gotham city can no longer fight for themselves in a world filled with
supernatural powers. Therefore, the only hope that citizens have rest in the hands of Batman.
Although Batman attempts to save Gotham city from Joker s criminal intentions. Batman,
however, also plays a role in deviant activity while attempting to catch the Joker. Realistically,
Batman violates the moral code due to destructive behaviour, and putting the lives of citizens at
harm. He does not care for social norms, nor whether his acts are of legality. He is devoted to
combat organized crime with Harvey Dent, a district attorney in Gotham city. Batman is in fact, the
definition of crime, he understands but does not abide to individual rights and social contracts
which make up the rule of law. In addition, the man behind Batman, Bruce Wayne also portrays a
form of deviance by disguising himself as Batman.

We Wear The Mask Literary Devices
Since the major part of the poem s recitation process has reached its finish line, I am relaxed,
satisfied, and able to reflect on it adequately. I regard to the whole process as a fascinating, valuable
and challenging adventure.
Approximately two months ago, I began looking for a poem, which was a serious work since I
pursued a powerful verse that was appropriate to my present state. Moreover, the poem s selection
procedure involved studying historical and cultural aspects, for the reason that I was grown under a
different circumstance and shared another background. I acknowledge the challenge of reading
poetry in a foreign language due to an effort to realize the main message of the poem immediately
and recognize the literary devices directly. Conversely, reading poetry in a native language seems
natural and habituated inasmuch the sounds, music, vocabulary, phraseology, images and events
are accustomed and familiar. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the fruits of my labor because the poem was
chosen and the more I read it, the more I became aware, inquisitive and fascinated by it.
The poem s memorizing was followed by its choice and represented ... Show more content on

I wanted to convey my own perusal of the poem, which altered throughout the practice for the
reason that every time I discovered new features of the verse. I admit that a deeper reading of
the poem We Wear the Mask and studying the poet s background forced me to look at the
problem of African Americans from the other perspective. Similarly to the white world , I ignored
the thought of their suffering and pain since in the movies that I watched or on photographs that I
saw, African Americans appear smiling. I did not know that they pretend to be happy in order to
survive. Moreover, I thought that the racism exists overseas. The avoiding of noticing of oppressed
people is identified with wearing the mask of indifference and

Science in the Media
Science in the Media Project
In the movie Back to the Future part II, Dock goes to Marty s house and parks his flying car in
Marty s driveway. Just before they leave to head off into the future, Doc rummages through Marty
s trash. In there he finds waded up paper bags, a banana peel, and a partially filled beer can. Doc
then inserts the trash that he finds into the top of the engine component of his flying car.
Immediately after doing so, they hover off into the future. This particular scene in Back to the
future basically communicates that a vehicle such as Docs car, can use organic waste as fuel and that
it can do so immediately after placing trash into its engine component. While it would be
extremely convenient and cost effective for society to be able to walk into their garage, grab
some trash and place it into their vehicles as fuel, and be able to be on the road in real time, the
idea is not in fact completely real and is partially science fiction. There is a scientific process
known as gasification a process for converting garbage into fuel and electricity without
incinerating it Bullis (2009). This must take place in order for everything to work. This process
is timely and requires spacious waste management facilities before a usable product is produced.
The first thing to do is to separate the usable organic trash from the non usable waste. Organic
usable trash is considered to be carbon based and will work in converting to fuel. Once all organic

The Mystery Of Iniquity By Lauryn Hill
The audience may think the top of their heads might blow off, when first hearing the song
Mystery of Iniquity by Lauryn Hill. The album that the song was on (MTV Unplugged No. 2.0)
went on to sell 5 million copies. Sure, there are females that rap, sure there are other ground
breaking studio productions that were a work of art in and of itself, and sure rappers use lyrics that
connect to relationships, politics, faith, and cultural criticism, but not like the famous Lauryn Hill.
The poetic devices in Lauryn Hill s Mystery of Iniquity reveal society s inevitable self destruction
through societal stigmas and stereotypes, justice system flaws, and religious references. To all the
people who said that hip hop had nothing important to say, and had not a lick of musical bone in
them, this song was a smack in the face to all the haters.

Crisis Management
Crisis management Once a crisis happens in an organization, the nature of the activities
undertaken to respond to a major threat to the organization is what is referred to as the crisis
management. The management of crisis such as the one in the case study on the copper mine
collapse includes identifying the nature of the crisis and coming up with an appropriate plan to
deal with it as the organization minimizes the damages and ultimately recovering from the crisis.
Here there is a lot of focus that is directed towards the public relations to recover any public
image damage suffered during the crisis as you assure the stakeholders of the recovery.
Considerations in this crisis management There are ten fundamental steps to consider in such a
magnitude of crisis as it involves potential life threatening conditions, as noted below (Khera
Communications, Inc. 2009): 1. Have a comprehensive plan. The mine management should have
a comprehensive plan that will enable the organization to get out of the crisis. The plan should be
one that is able to address any bespoke and random vulnerabilities within the industry. 2. Crisis
identification Identify the crisis as soon as possible once it happens and move fast towards
finding a corrective measure. There are three golden rules in PR crisis communication that are
fundamental in crisis control; as soon as a crisis happens, Tell it all, Tell it fast and Tell it honestly.
This consideration will control the flow of the

The recruiting aspect is definitely made more efficient through product and proven ways of
marketing, but our process will take things a step further. We will need to make sure that after
we have a recruit, again that this is the person that is going to fall in line with what we are
ultimately trying to get accomplished. We will put jobs in individual categories. What I mean
by this statement is that though we are looking for people who are going to be infantry and
cavalry ready, we also are going to have different roles in the structure of the unit. While we have
some people who are much more hands on and like to learn by doing, we also are going to have
people who will not necessarily be as hands on but can do a good job of leading by thinking
through issues. This is going to be the basic structure of the group, and with this two types of
structures, we will be able to categorize any job in a blanket way to fall into these areas. We will
use the recruiting process overall along with testing and background to encourage the recruits to
take their careers in the direction that not only will be in our best interest, but also in theirs as well.
Operations The operations side of the unit will be ultimate responsible for making sure the overall
business side of things are running efficiently and effectively

Core Econ Textbook
The Core Econ textbook provides a very clear overview of the microeconomics concepts. Some
ideas that were introduced by the textbook are very interesting and somewhat relevant to real
world, but do not completely explain real life phenomenons. On the other hand, it also
introduced many ideas that allowed me to perceive certain topics in a different light. One very
interesting idea that the textbook brought up is the idea of altruism . The textbook treated this
idea as purely a social preference. The book defined it as: someone is willing to bear a cost to
benefit somebody else. Though I agree that this is true in many cases, there are also many cases in
which some people are willing to bear a cost because there are negative externalities, which is
something that was not talked about in Chapter 4. For example, nations join together to reach
agreement on reducing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chapter on inequality discussed some important ideas that were not frequently talked about in
the classroom. When Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz came to Stuy to talk about economics a few terms
ago, he brought up inequalities in different countries. He mainly focused on how to eliminate
income gap in different countries, and, in the data he showed, many Northern European countries
were extremely effective in keeping the income gap low. After reading the textbook, I realized
something that was not mentioned in his lecture, which was the effect of income gap on GDP. As
the book stated, income gap motivates people to work harder in order for them to ascend through
social classes. I think this partially explains why though those Northern European countries are
able to reduce income gap, their ranking in worldwide annual GDP ranks are usually not
extremely high. Because those societies are fairly equal and social benefits are great and readily
available to most people, residents in those countries become less motivated to work extremely

Wedding Song Analysis
Farideh Goldin s Memoir Wedding Song recounts the author s childhood living in the Jewish
community of Iran. Her dedication to detail and collection of stories to not only talk about the
past but also about the present and the traditions that come with it draws in an audience
intrigued by what is to come next. The author s collection of memoirs draws themes about abuse
and sexual misconduct, age old customs, education, and sexism in order to emphasize the
struggles of being an Iranian Jew. Abuse inside and outside the home plays a central role in
Wedding Song as Farideh recounts multiple stories of her classmates and her own experiences
with older men inappropriately touching her..The issue of abuse also comes into play from
other families especially when one of Farideh s classmates, Golee, describe how the girl s father
would caress her back and put her hands in her panties...and lick his fingers (Pg. 112). This made
me feel so disgusted and also sad for the girl because she assumed everyone s father did the same.
It made me question how this was even allowed or what kind of twisted parent would do this to
their child. Another theme that was emphasized were age old rituals and customs to fix problems.
I found it so interesting when it came to the grandmother s health, there were multiple remedies
from leeches to going to a soothsayer. At first, they believed she has just fallen ill but because her
condition was getting worse and worse, but she felt like she was cursed and

It s Time To End Poverty In The United States
Throughout years poverty has been an ongoing situation that has only been increasing throughout
the years. Many efforts have been issued by the government over the situation; but yet many of
those efforts have failed to succeed. Increased dependency is the only long term impact that
government efforts have had on poverty. By solving poverty the government could make the
economy grow more for everyone , because many people would be going back into the workforce.
The government has a responsibility to end poverty through providing education, better programs,
and jobs.

Their are some drawbacks to ending poverty; If the government were to end poverty in the united
states it would take a lot of time and money. Their would also be many arguments over the topic
between wealthy people and poor people because the wealthier people would not benefit from it.
Which would eventually lead to a communism because if they were to solve poverty throughout
the united states there would have to be a tax implemented for it. Which is where the argument
would lead to; the tax that the people would have to pay. There would also be arguments over
blaming the poor because people against the situation would make the argument of it being the
individual s fault for putting themselves in a position like the one they are in. Overall solving
poverty has its pros and cons. Its pros would be that it would give many people a better life and
by providing education; they can have the opportunity to get better jobs. Solving poverty would

Arguments Against Abortion Pro Life
Abortion is a tough topic in which you can only decide to be either for or against it. There is a
huge amount of people who believe that abortion should be legal and that everyone should
respect that decision; however, there is also people who are against this ideology and believe
that abortion is something immoral and should be illegal. People, who is pro abortion, prefer to
say that they are pro choice. They like better this term because they say that they aren t fighting
for abortions, instead, they are supporting woman s right. This means that they are pro choice to
fight for equality in woman s rights and not because they like to abort. The same happens with
people that are against abortions, many people prefer to be pro life. A pro life person is someone

Humans beings have a tendency of arguing and defending our ideology, and because of this we
create counterattack arguments, to defend what we believe is true and right. By doing this we
exhibit our beliefs and concerns about the topic discussed. Aborting does not only involve
women, it also involves the unborn baby and the father. Reasons as having the right to choose or
take our own decision on what to do with our body, or abortion helps women to have or develop
a professional career and helps to achieve their goals, or making abortion illegal would cause
catastrophic problems to women; those reasons are some arguments that could be counterattacked

Personal Context Essay: All Falls Down
Kanye West produced the popular song All Falls Down in 2004. He is well known for creating
many wonderful tunes but this one stands out above the rest. While his other songs contain bass
heavy instrumentals and contain lyrics about money and women, this one is strays away from the
previous structures. All Falls Down catches the attention of youth, with its mellow melody, to send
a strong message concerning the overemphasis on money and education and how it can be harmful
through the lyrics. The issues contained in the message are highly focused on the idea that money
and education will not always be there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Artists tend to showcase a slower tempo for the song if it dealt with negative views of drugs
because it is important to raise the awareness. Kanye tries to usher the ideas that money and
education shouldn t be the only objectives of life, so it shouldn t be so important. Because it is
unimportant, why express it with such detail in a slower pace? The music and lyrics therefore
are contrasted with a purpose. The tempo is created with a bass guitar and drums. Add these to
the already established acoustic guitar and female vocals and the beat sounds very complex.
This suggests that the issues are also complex; they cannot be easily understood and solved. The
lyrics of a song often have no substance and a clear example would be any Britney Spears song.
The lyrics of All Falls Down are very deep. They talk about the ideal situation in life; We should
go to school, get a good job and make money to buy what we want. The lyrics then ask, what if
this doesn t happen? This is prevalent in the first verse. She has no idea what she doing in
college. That major that she majoring, it don t make no money. The song questions these everyday
values because we focus so much on these things, we don t realize there are more important things
in life such as life itself. Even Kanye admits that he spent money at Jacob s Jewellery store before
he thought about a house. I went to Jacob with

The Importance Of Dreams In James Welch s Fools Crow
A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you are fast asleep. This nostalgic melody sung by
Disney s Cinderella expresses the importance and meanings that dreams can have. In Native
American culture, dreams are used as tools to guide one through life. Many big decisions made
by Native Americans are influenced by dreams. It is said that supernatural powers or omens
from spirits or gods are to be received via dreams or visions. In receiving them, magical abilities,
or the ability to look into the future can be bestowed onto one. In Fools Crow, James Welch,
illustrates several characters having visions and dreams. Throughout the book the dreams are
seen as visions of the future. Welch uses these messages to reflect upon Native American culture
and to foreshadow motives or events that will affect the characters later in the book. Mik api,
the medicine man has a dream about a raven. Mik api asked White Man s Dog to prepare the
sweatlodge, thus beginning White Man s Dog s apprenticeship to him. Mik api begins telling
him about a dream he had the previous night. As I slept, the Raven came down to me from some

IT 377 GRADUATE RESEARCH PAPER ON ZIGBEE TECHNOLOGY BY: KAVYA GUPTA
1.ABSTRACT
The networking industry is experiencing new technologies every now and then. From the
migration of wired to wireless networks, there are drastic changes in the way, networking was
earlier perceived. Connecting devices in a multiple different ways is possible using new IEEE
standards and protocols. The research paper aims at discussing some potential features of a wireless
technology, ZigBee , which in a way is similar to the Bluetooth. What is actually ZigBee?, Why do
we need it ? and its acceptance in the market, are some of the questions which would be answered
in the coming sections of this research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It uses the mesh topology for transmitting data. This way it offers a secure way for communicating
wirelessly with a number of other such devices.
The research project is aimed at studying ways in which this new technology is helpful for day to
day communication needs. It focusses on the potential benefits that can be reaped by following
this standard for wireless connectivity. The cons related to it need to be understood thoroughly so
that it can be improved in its coming versions so that we may progress more in the wireless
communication domain. Since it is based upon Layer 1 and part of layer 2 OSI Model, it may
prove further useful to connect a number of devices.
3. TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION
The ZigBee technology, has different subdivisions and names and works on the several layers of
the OSI model, each having a different name and a distinguished function. This paper focuses on
the first two layer of the OSI which is responsible for point to point connectivity. The ZigBee
technology has an embedded set of features, which can be applied to a wide variety of consumer,
commercial and industrial applications. ZigBee builds upon the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, and
provides low cost solutions to short distance communications meant mainly for Personal Area
Networks. It is in some ways similar to the Bluetooth Technology. This IEEE standard provides
characteristics for Low Rate Wireless Personal Area Networks (LR WPAN). The

Pros And Cons Of International Family Planning
Before reading chapter 8 I had no idea what international family planning really was, and I have a
feeling I m not the only one who didn t. I believe that if most people knew what internationally
family planning was and what it really meant then then there would be a lot more people angry
with the decision to stop all funding to UNFPA. This organization does so much for everyone
around the world like, advises governments on family planning, reducing poverty, reproductive
health, and many other ways. The United States apparently stopped funding this program because it
supposedly supports or participates in the management of a program of coercive abortion or
involuntary sterilization . The UNFPA actually posted a statement on their official website denying
the claim and stating that all of its work promotes the human rightsof individuals and couples to
make their own decisions, free of coercion or discrimination . I don t think people or even the
president knows how negative of an impact denying future funds to the UNFPA is going to effect
the world. I believe that if our president Donald Trump had taken the time to learn about UNFPA
and what they stand for then maybe he wouldn t have stopped all funding. This decision has made
not only the women within the United States feel like they don t have a say in their reproductive
rightsbut, it also makes it look like we don t care about the reproductive rights of any woman in any
nation. The United States not supporting family

Criminal Law And Popular Culture
Question #1 Criminal Law and Popular Culture With the increase in crime rates and application
of criminal justice, it is factual that the filming industry has embraced the issue where more than
quarter of the television dramas and films are based on crime and criminal justice. Most of these
television programs and dramas exhibit values such as societal norms in law enforcement and
agencies involved in criminal law. Therefore, messages conveyed in these TV programs are based
on the real life law enforcement through legal processes, legal system adhered to, and the law
enforcers involved. Basically, these television programs feature the knowledge on the legal system,
law enforcers representations, legal rights, compliance, and victimization. Close scrutiny of these
programs exhibits that they are just fictions on law enforcement in the real life setting. Thus, they
depict law enforcers as moral people in the society who are qualified in attending to crimes.
Therefore, one can assert that criminal law helps the makers of these TV programs to draw a
distinction between law enforcers and the criminals. Furthermore, it helps TV programs convey
relevant information regarding the operation of the justice system. Citing from the CSI effect, it is
perceptibly factual that TV shows/dramas that adhere to forensic investigation as a way of solving
crimes are significantly affecting the criminal law in the contemporary CJS. Prosecutor and

The Bible And The Interpretation Of The Bible
Although the interpretation of the Bible is the particular task of the exegetes, it does not belong,
however, as a monopoly, since it involves, in the Church, aspects that go beyond the scientific
analysis of the texts. The Church, in effect, does not consider the Bible simply as a set of historical
documents concerning its origins. She welcomes it as the Word of Godthat directs her and the whole
world, in the present time.
This conviction of faith has as a consequence the practice of updating and inculturating the biblical
message, as well as the different ways of using the inspired texts, in the liturgy, the Lectio divina ,
the pastoral ministry, and the ecumenical movement.

The Causes Of Procrastination
Procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task that needs to be accomplished. It is a common
issue most Americans face today. Procrastination can be argued whether or not if it s caused by
choice. There are various factors that lead to procrastination such as; our being brain programmed
to procrastinate, feeling like you aren t in the right frame of mind to do a particular task, and the
lack of self confidence.
Procrastination doesn t happen just because, it is a result of our brain being programmed to do so.
Typically, we procrastinate because we visualize the hardest part of something that needs to be
done. It could be a range of doing a project, assignment, or even cleaning your house. According to
Ciotti (2012): our brain has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means we put important things off to avoid being uncomfortable. Dr. Sinclair also states, It
s a human reaction to avoid doing stuff we don t want to do to avoid potentially difficult
situations, it s all about our confidence and a fear that it won t go well and we won t be good
enough. This is something most can relate to because we visualize something going wrong so we
won t do it. Another thing that can be involved is perfectionism, we may not want to attempt
something unless we feel sure that we will be great at it. It becomes a vicious cycle, the more
we procrastinate the more distressed we are and undermine our own confidence. Procrastination
also happens because we may have a low self confidence. When difficulties arise, people with
weak self confidence easily develop doubts about their ability to accomplish the task at hand,
while those with strong beliefs are more likely to continue their efforts. (Heshmat, 2016).
Whenever this happens, people miss opportunities to acquire new knowledge and skills. An
example of this would be someone with a low sense of confidence for math avoids enrollment for
an upper level math course (Heshmat, 2016). Robert K., Lindsey K., and Sukaina R. have created 2

Gross Domestic Product Is The Measure Of A Nation s Total...
Gross Domestic Product is the curative measure of a nation s total economic activity. It
represents the monetary value of all goods and services produced within a nation s geographic
borders over a specified period of time. In other words, it s how to tell how the economy of a
country is doing. It is the total dollar valued of all goods and services; the size of the economy
usually in a given year. GDP first came into use in 1937 in a report to the US Congress in response
to the Great Depression, after Russian economist Simon Kuznets conceived the system of
measurement. The system used before was the Gross National Product (GNP). It was widely
adopted in 1944 as the standard means to measure national economist. The income approach to
calculate the GDP is the sum of the components. Labor income, rental income, interest income, and
profits earned by households in a year. What is spent on a product is the income to those who
helped to produce it and sell it. The expenditure approach, on the other hand, totals consumption,
investment, government spending, and net exports produced by a country in a year. The first
component of the GDP is consumption. It includes all private and public consumption, government
outlays, investments, and exports minus imports that occur within a defined territory. Is normally
the largest GDP component. Many persons judge the economic performance of their economic
performance of their country mainly in terms of consumption level of dynamics.

The Idea Of Social Entrepreneurship
On the idea of social entrepreneurship
The idea of social entrepreneurship implies diverse things to various individuals and analysts
(Dees, 1998). One gathering of scientists alludes to social enterprise as not revenue driven
activities looking for option financing methodologies, or administration plans to make social worth
(Austin, Stevenson, and Wei Skiller, 2003; Boschee, 1998). A second gathering of analysts
comprehends it as the socially mindful routine of business organizations occupied with cross area
associations (Sagawa and Segal, 2000; Waddock, 1988). Also, a third gathering sees social business
as a way to reduce social issues and catalyze social change (Alvord et al., 2004).
It is vital to take note of the theoretical contrasts between definitions. Meanings of social
entrepreneurship normally allude to a procedure or conduct; meanings of social entrepreneurship
people center rather on the author of the activity; and meanings of social endeavors allude to the
unmistakable result of social enterprise. In spite of the huge number of definitions, precise
endeavors to guide activities and definitions are uncommon (see Boschee (1995) and Waddock and
Post (1995), for two exemptions). While integral definitions, every concentrating on various parts
of the wonder, are not as a matter of course a hindrance in the quest for hypothesis, despite

The Crystal Land Poem Meaning
The Crystal Land: Constructing and Destroying Zembla
By shifting focus to the imagery of crystal, which carries contrasting connotations from the
windows of the previous narrative, Nabokov also shifts the setting from the realm of reality to
that of Kinbote s fantasy. The delicate extravagance generally associated with crystal can be seen
as a representation of the unattainable, subjective realm both internal authors fundamentally strive
for. The fact that crystal is able to refract light due to the presence of lead also supports that as it
alludes to the idea of the false azure projected by the windowpane in Shade s poem. Furthermore,
both Zembla and the ambiguous realm Shade portrays in the first stanza of his poem are dubbed the
crystal land. This continual reflection of images from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

imprisoned in his rose stone palace from a corner turret of which one could make out with the

semantic field of glass, here Nabokov is referring to the rose quartz crystal. By using the word
stone, however he evokes the juxtaposition of nature and glass imagery from the first narrative. By
synthesizing the two symbols here, he can thus shift the meaning of crystal to act as a barrier
entrapping the narrator within his fantasy. Furthermore, by placing Kinbote in the same
voyeuristic role as in the first narrative, Nabokov is able to once again convey Kinbote s inability
to transcend his fantasy due to his dissociation from reality. In effect, by including the fantasy
narrative, Nabokov has the freedom for romanticized invention which allows him to literally
imprison Kinbote in a crystal palace. This acts as a representation of the idea of the glass house

Religious Tolerance
I am tolerant, you are permissive, I have reasonable scruples, and you are a conservative. (Author
Unknown)
Does this sound like the thoughts of most of us? Many people think that they have to understand
and accept the religious beliefs of others in order to get along with them. Respecting someone s
choice to practice their religion does not mean that you must believe the same as they do. In
today s society, we are faced daily with choices on whether or not to tolerate the practices and
actions of people around us. More times than not, people ignore actions of those around them when
their actions do not affect them personally. If a person dresses in an offensive style or uses
inappropriate conduct in the presence of others, more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Students claim that their beliefs are openly mocked in college classrooms around the country and
the professors do not encourage the same respect be shown for their religion as every other belief
system discussed in class. When religious leaders insist that public schools perform plays, such as
the Nativity, in the name of religious tolerance it should be examined to determine if it is a self
serving request. Would they also demand that the Battles of Krishna be re enacted? All children
should be taught of other religions and to learn the history of other religions, but not be required to
act out specifics from a particular religion. We may wish that state schools embraced our religious
beliefs, but must recognize that secularism in education is the beginning of religious tolerance, not
the suppression of it. The state system must use its non denominational status to educate children in
all the major faiths, but that is where it must stop.
What can we do about it? Every hour a hate crime is committed and half are

Australian Defence Policy Essay
The discourse surrounding an appropriate defence policy in Australia has been an intense debate,
extending back to the beginning of the 20th century. Stemming from the Creswell Foster divide has
emerged two sides, the state centric, geostrategic concept of the Defence of Australia and the
alliance centric concept of the Security Based Defence . As well as these policy approaches is the
statecoercive notion of puritive deterrence .
The following paper aims to compare and contrast the main arguments regarding Austalian defence
policy, through the relevance of geo strategic location and gobalisation. It will appraise the three
aforementioned options of defence policy, as presented by Paul Dibbs, Michael Evans, and Ross
Babbage and will then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They state that transnational issues...are not always military problems, but military resources may
prove useful to monitoring, controlling or recovering from them. They later go on to say that the
armed forces may be required to coordinate their operations with humanitarian relief organisations ,
as non state actors influence their warfighting.
Peter Dean and Ken Gleiman of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), have also noted
the revised role of the ADF in combating these unconventional threats, which has led to
amphibious forces across the globe being deployed to support a range of operations, including
assaults, raids, withdrawals and demonstrations. These forces have been used in counter piracy
operations in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean, and against radical groups such as Al Shabaab in
Somalia.
It is thus evident that globalisation has had a great impact on defence policy, due to the emergence
and increased danger of non state actors, highlighting a need to revise policy formulation in order to
combat the threats they pose.
Conclusion
By assessing the relevance that geostrategic location and globalisation have on Australian defence
policy, this paper has been able to compare the stances of Paul Dibbs, Michael Evans and Ross

How Theu.s Dollar Became The World s Most Dominant Reserve...
The objective of this paper is to give a clearer picture to how the U.S dollar became the world s
most dominant reserve currency . Several countries use it as their official currency, and many
others use it as the de facto currency . Moreover, American dollar is the primary reserve currency,
which is used as the standard unit in international market for commodities such as gold and
petroleum. However, the dollar has been declining over the last three decades; in fact it has lost
almost half its value against other major currencies. The purpose of this research is to bring clarity
for the following questions: How, when and why the dollar became the world s reserve currency?
Benefits of having the largest world reserve currency? Comparing the dollar with the pound and the
up and rising Chinese Renminbi (RMB), and predictions for the future.
Keywords: Currency fluctuation; Reserve Currency; International Market; Global Reach
I.Introduction
We use the term reserve currency when we mean other countries use of dollars in international
trade. If Sweden, for example, buys goods from China, the goods can be paid with American
dollars instead of Swedish Krona. The methodological approach to address how, when and why
the dollar became the world s reserve currency will be supported by a historical and statistical
analysis. With a better understanding on how the U.S dollar become the most powerful currency
we can advance to understand the cost and benefits of it.

Theme Of Betrayal In Jane Eyre
In the novel, Jane Eyre, by Charlotte BrontГ« there were many incidents that had affected the
overall plot of the book. Sometimes an author adds certain events or ideas to help accentuate the
plot. In this novel there is a recurring theme of betrayal. The one that seems to be affected by the
curse of betrayal the most is the main character, Jane Eyre, herself. Her first encounter with
betrayal came about when she was still just a child. And as she grew older and experienced the
world new ways unlike before, she could never escape the curse of betrayal. Jane s first
encounter with betrayal was when she was still a child and her Uncle Reed brought her along to
live with him and his family in Gateshead, after Jane s parents had passed away. Jane s Uncle
Reed had promised to raise her as if she were one of his own children. However, this only lasted
until Uncle Reed passed away. After Jane s uncle had passed, Jane s aunt and her three children
had mistreated her and in some cases physically abused. On one particular day she was minding
her own business whilst reading Bewick s History of British Birds, her obnoxious cousin John
Reed was looking for Jane. Once he finds her, he treats her as if she was inferior to him, he
wants his cousin to refer to him as Master Reed. This already not being indicative of raising Jane
as one of their own, her cousin John continues to undermine her even more and takes the book
from her and ends up throwing it at her causing her to get a cut by

The Chums Consulting present the following recommendations to the board of directors of HTC
for your review.
Challenge
HTC, while maintaining its current ODM business, will develop a strategy that leverages its core
competence as a mobile phone manufacturer to create a premium HTC branded smart phone to
achieve a 12% global market share of all end user smart phones within 3 years.
HTC will form strategic partnerships with one or more operating system providers to ensure the
design of the smart phone is tailored and optimised to the selected operating system(s).
HTC will reach customers and create a sustainable sales channel by developing a dynamic sales

The middle and low end models will be distributed internationally via a range of carriers to provide
consumers seeking a lower priced smartphone with the ability to buy a quality HTC smartphone
without changing their current carriers or contract options.
Solution
Based on the analysis of the market and given the potential alternatives, we recommend that the
third alternative will be the best solution for HTC. A Porters analysis was undertaken for an
assessment of the smartphone market which shows that there are two main forces to take into
consideration: competing sellers and buyers. Considering these characteristics of the market we
believe that HTC will be able to feasibly and profitably enter the smartphone market under its own
branded phone.
In addition to the Porters analysis a SWOT analysis (Appendix 1) was conducted that highlighted an
opportunity to form a strategic partnership with Google to customize the UI using their Android
operating system (a free open resource OS), significantly reducing licensing costs.
For a sustainable manufacturing future, HTC with use the revenue gained from the cost savings by
using of the Android OS to further develop its R amp;D department to ensure it remains
competitive and successful in hardware design. Moreover, as an established ODM company,

Characteristics Of Drunk Driving
Drunk Driving
Although situations differ and each person is unique, some common traits have been identified
among drunk drivers. In the study personality traits and mental health of severe drunk drivers in
Sweden , 162 Swedish DUI offenders of all ages were studied to find links in psychological factors
and characteristics. There are a wide variety of characteristics common among DUI offenders which
are discussed, including: anxiety, depression, inhibition, low assertiveness, neuroticism and
introversion . There is also a more specific personality type found, typically more antisocial,
among repeat DUI offenders. It is also common for offenders to use drinking as a coping
mechanism, not necessarily for social or enjoyment reasons, when they are antisocial in nature and
have a father with a history of alcoholism. Offenders who begin drinking at an earlier age for
thrills and fun are more likely to be antisocial later in their lives. The majority of the sample,
72%, came from what is considered more normal circumstances. This group was older when they
began drinking, came from families without a history of alcoholism, were relatively well behaved
as children, were not as physically and emotionally affected by alcohol when compared with the
rest of the study, and had the less emotional complications, such as anxiety and depression. The
smaller portion of the sample, 28%, comes from what is generally

Comparing Rowlandson And Incidents In The Life Of A Slave...
Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs.
Mary Rowlandson are both nonfiction narratives that describe the struggles of women in some
form of captivity. The similarities between these two texts are in some ways incredibly obvious,
for instance they are both written in the first person from the perspective of marginalized women
struggling to merely survive. Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl specifically deals with the
extreme level of sexual abuse that female slaves were subjected to and it is frequently cited as first
hand proof that women were treated even worse than men on plantations. While this may be true it
is not a similarity that it has to A Narrativeof the Captivity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Similarly, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl offers many insights into the suffering that life can
sometimes offer. Her account does not have the same subtle optimism found in A Narrative of the
Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson , however, it similarly shows how many can
take their luxurious lifestyles for granted, by outlining the suffering or even discussing a woman
who was happy her child was dying and would be removed from a life of pain (23). Both of these
texts clearly outline how resilient human nature can be they both tell the stories of women who
are put into incredibly challenging situations and yet they both continue to survive. This survival
mechanism of humans is an intriguing recurring theme in both texts and is a similarity that links
them both together. While there are a myriad of similarities between these two texts, there are
also significant differences in context, theme, and scope. For instance, A Narrative of the
Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson is the story of only eleven weeks of
captivity. This is naturally a far less comprehensive experience than in Incidents in the Life of a
Slave Girl which tells the narrative of a girl who suffered her entire life. Naturally, reading both of
these texts shows a shocking difference in narrative view. A Narrative of the Captivity and
Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson is quite optimistic, as one reads through her account it is

Being Human In Book I Of Nicomachean Morals
Humans have come a long way. To think that the only way you could create a fire was to use
sticks and coal and now it only takes a lighter or a match to create a fire. To think that we as
humans use to think the world was flat and now where flying in space to different planets. As
humans we have done so much in this world but there are still a lot of question that still are
unanswered and the biggest one is what does it mean to be human?
There are a wide range of implications to being human. Being human means being an ordinary
that tries to understand its otherworldly presence. We are not human, we are basically being
human. If we were not to be conceived as people, we may have been conceived as creatures. In
Book I of Nicomachean Morals, Aristotle presents his contention by recognizing two sorts of
finishes which individuals make progress toward. He states, For the end is here and there a
movement, in some cases an item past the action; and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allowing that character is given to us by nature, he makes the inquiry of whether we can really
characterize our own character. Ideals enables us to consummate what nature has given us as
our character. This suggests one s having a decent good character is totally the aftereffect of his
or her choice to take part in idealistic activities reliably. As Aristotle states in Book III of
Nicomachean Morals, Now the ethics, as we say, are intentional, since in certainty we are
ourselves in a way together in charge of our conditions of character, and by having the kind of
character we have we set out the kind of end we do (70). Although the choice or decision lies in
the activity itself, great or awful, Reason is the thing that aides us toward that activity. In this
manner, we can perceive how Reason is an immediate accomplice in the choice to be ethically
idealistic if we take a gander at the distinction between two of what Aristotle calls our Levels of

I Call It The Pursuit Of Happiness, By The Mega Marketing...
Understanding Who We Truly Are Many people will agree with the idea that happiness is the key
to a successful life. Everybody has their own perception of happiness, whether it is a loving family,
a healthy lifestyle, or maybe even money. As people progress through the journey of life, or as I call
it the pursuit of happiness, they undergo an ample of events or experiences that help them
understand the difference between who they think we are, and who they really are. By going
through these favorable or unfavorable experiences, they become emotionally stronger. However,
this situation is not always the case. Most of the times, people find themselves unintentionally
altering reality and avoiding the truth to make almost every situation beneficial. To properly
understand happiness, we have to first tackle the idea of understandingourselves. The way we view
ourselves shapes our experiences of events to a great extent because we finally understand why
we go through what we do. After thoroughly reading both Immune to Reality , and The Mega
Marketing of Depression in Japan , I am confidently able to say that reality in our lives is strongly
based on our subjective perceptions of things. To effectively comprehend the stories of ourselves
we can begin by looking at what factors shape how we understand and communicate our emotional
experiences. We all know that culture is ones upbringing and roots that are embedded into their
minds at a young age. In addition to that, we found

Searching A Pupil S Locker Without Probable Cause Is A
Searching a pupil s locker without probable cause is a violation of trust and the Fourth
Amendment. Probable cause is legally defined as Apparent facts discovered through logical
inquiry that would lead a reasonably intelligent and prudent person to believe that an accused
person has committed a crime, thereby warranting his or her prosecution, or that a Cause of
Action has accrued, justifying a civil lawsuit or the search of the person or premises by the free
dictionary (Probable Cause). Locker searches have always been a risky and delicate precaution
taken by schools that have occasionally lead to lawsuits, one instance of legal action being taken
as a result of the search of a student is the notorious 1980 s New Jersey v. T.L.O... Show more

Though a fair amount of time and money towards searches there is still an alarming amount of theft
and assault on school property. As technology has advanced over the years schools have gotten
electronic gadgets and techniques to keep students out of trouble. As the amount of technology and
precautions taken to avoid students getting in trouble the amount of students breaking rule
increases with it. Though schools take many steps to protect students, pupils still report that drugs
are made accessible to them on school property, schools combine document that nearly 2 million
crimes were reported to them, and many students still feel unsafe (violence in U.S. public schools).
These reports show that millions of dollars provided by taxes go towards school security and it has
done less than intended. When schools search lockers and students without probable cause they
become vulnerable to many legal issues. In the last decade students have lost much of their fourth
amendment rights, students are losing their rights because the U.S. supreme court continues to give
schools more and more leeway to ensure a safer and more disciplined (Ascd. School right to search
students) school. The fourth amendment states that in order for someone to be searched and

  • 2. Summary Of Will Storr s Visit To Past Life In the previous chapter, Will Storr visited a Past Life Regression therapist who essentially opened the floodgates of his mind. This inspired his decision to take some time in the Blue Mountains of Australia to meditate in this chapter. While he intended to enroll in the Vipassana Meditation Center s meditation session purely for the purpose of a mental retreat, Storr quickly discovered that it was also a physically taxing experience. He got so into his own zone that he found himself unable to help others who were more obviously struggling alongside him. This lead him to wonder about the origin and function of cognitive dissonance why do we feel one thing and say or do another? He cited many psychological experiments before coming to the... Assuming that the individual choosing the numbers knows no more about the winning sequence than the random generator, then this notion is illogical. Choosing is as arbitrary by a person as a random generator the only difference is that people often choose numbers with sentimental value, such as a birthday, anniversary, or favorite number. However, in this particular instance, people felt that their odds were increased when they chose the numbers despite no apparent logical reason to think so ergo, the illusion of control (Sanger). It is important to note that the illusion of control had no measurable effect in this scenario whether people chose their numbers or not, their odds did not change. I think this implies that even when we are able to achieve unity between our interior and exterior selves, some things are simply out of our self s reach. Sometimes, other factors are simply too powerful to ignore; consequently, they are given control. Is it not possible that this could relate to the disconnect we feel between our interior and exterior selves, particularly in stressful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Todd February 16, 2012 Many issues have changed within financial markets and institutions. Many years ago, even BC, there were banking institutions available. Transactions were very informal in the early years to extremely formal in the present day. Financial Markets and Institutions have progressed considerably in the last 50 years. More opportunities of different types have evolved and are available for us to become involved in. Opportunities to invest, save and acquire loans have progressed considerably in financial markets and institutions. What are financial institutions? The two types of financial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many individuals depend on the sound functioning of our banking system in order to pay bills, save, invest, and provide for their future. When banks are unable to fulfill their duties to the economy due to over speculation or poor risk assessment, it is the role of the regulators to step in and right the ship. Once technology was introduced to the banking world many things changed. Banking and any transactions related to banking had to be done in person. Along came the telephone, in which allowed banking to be conducted at home or work. A phone call is what it took to have transaction implemented. The age of ATM s (Automatic Teller Machines) allowed banking 24 hours a day. Debit cards and Credit cards allowed us to transfer monies or put things on credit instantly. Next came the era of online banking and electronic transfers of money, which allows us to take care of many other transactions instantly. From the 1st day until today the every changing world of banking changes the way we live and we do business. Credit unions go back to 1852 in Germany. A credit union is mutual owned by the people who deposit money into the credit union. Credit unions offer saving, loans, or credit and other financial services. They also may feel that a stateroom is only a place to sleep. Late sleepers like inside staterooms because early daylight won t disturb them. Suites are the most expensive accommodations on a ship. Some vessels have only a few, others boast an entire upper, conciergelike deck madeup of larger staterooms and/or suites. By the traditional definition, a suite should feature a living room, a sleeping room and a bathroom. This is not so on a ship. When cruise clients and travel agents study a deck plan, they should carefully examine the relationship of a stateroom to the ship s public places, Miscellaneous Considerations What else should you know about cruise ships? Here are some thoughts: * A ship s registry usually has nothing to do with where the line is headquartered. Financial, legal, labor, and routing concerns tend to dictate the shup s registry. The name of the country where the ship is registered is usually painted on the exterior of the vessel s stern and the ship flies that country s flag.(This is called flag of convenience.) * On some ships smoking is permitted almost everywhere onboard. On most its limited to certain officially designated places. One or two ships are smoke free. * Where do ships go when they retire ? Some are turned into scraped metal(mostly in India). Others are parked at ports(especially in Greece and in Bahamas), with the hope that someone will buy, refurbish, and return them to active cruising. * Each year the CDC conducts about two passengers and that calls on U.S. ports. • 5. Religious Beliefs And The Role Of Dress In The Religious... Religious ideologies regarding dress are based on religious organizations individual dogmas, who believe that your outwardly appearance should reflect your inner beliefs. Similarly, adhering to a strict code of dress, that symbolizes its group s traditions and customs, also helps in controlling the body s sexuality. Hunt Hurst and Miller Spillman (2012) stated that being well dressed (modestly) is a religious duty and not a personal preference (p. 266). Dress in a matter of speaking is an outwardly symbol of religious identification and showing ones connectedness to their religious organization. Arthur (n.d.) believes a group identity is projected through dress because people use self presentation and self promotion to visually present identity that is congruent with their belief systems (Religionand Dress, para. 1). Since each religious organization perceives the role of dress, as it pertains to the expression of identity, differently one must also understand the basis of said religious organizations beliefs in order to comprehend how their beliefs mirror the role of dress. Islamis a monotheistic faith, one that believes in a single God, emphasizes submission to God or Allah, as well as the group over the individual. The Qur an, the literal word of God, lays out the role of dress and its meaning for both men and women (Hunt Hurst Miller Spillman, 2012; Islam, 2017). The Civil War had just finished, and the Union was victorious. Meanwhile, Booth was a Confederate supporter. Booth had many factors to motivate him to killLincoln, but there were some very important ones that are probably the reason he killed Lincoln. I directed Whale Rider in 2002. I did not write the plot by I was adapting he book Whale Rider written by Witi Ihimaera. When I was directing the film I wanted to keep the traditional Maori culture as a main feature of the film and also represent the changes to the culture through generational differences. This scene shows how Nanny flowers sees Pai potential and how she can adapt to the modern world of women s leadership. This is the first time we can see the changing cultural traditions in this clip. When the children are performing, we can see how they have less respect for the culture by mucking up and not concentrating. I showed this disrespect by doing a full length shot on all the kids and then zooming in on Pai s face showing her in shock. I also added in a scene showing the community laughing. This scene shows how the whole community isn t committed to their culture. Pai is the only child who doesn t find this disrespect funny. This scene shows how Pai is fully committed to her culture and the generational differences between the elders and the new generation. The new generation in the film do care about their culture which is the complete opposite to the elder generations who show full respect to their ancestors. When Pai s father, Porourangi arrives, the mise en scene of their surroundings is important because it connects them with their culture. • 9. Analysis Of The Book The Wizard Of Oz The Wizard of OZomoness There is no place like home, Which could not be more true for the most of us, is a famous quote from The Wizard Of OZ, a movie about a girl who finds herself in a world different from hers, wishing to return to her farm in Kansas. Along the way, she discovers many things about herself that she never thought she was capable of. Although her time in the Land of OZwas just a dream, it sends powerful messages. Not only that there is no place like home, but that in our dreams we realize who we are. The outside world never sees who we truly are or what makes us happy. We feel a need to conform to society and act how other people act, so that we don t stand out. Why wouldn t people express themselves for who they truly are? Bird Clarkson, a man on a mission, seems to ask a similar question. Clarkson, a faculty member in the Communication and ARTS Department at Central Michigan University, entered a piece in the ArtPrize 2016 competition in Grand Rapids (MI) named The Wizard of Ozomoness. It is an interpretive dance play of sorts that is meant to get kids or people alike to express themselves and let them know that their dreams can come true. The piece we chose was the backdrop of the Emerald Citythat is meant for this play and we evaluated how its appearance and representation of a dream world further emphasized the meaning of the piece. We proved this by interpreting its physical attributes, with interviews with people observing the piece and with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this case, that is true they are, but at the same time friends become more than that which makes them be part of the family. The people that help me accomplish my goals would be my mom, stepfather and my boyfriend. My mom s name is Maria Reyes, and she currently lives in Brownsville, Texas about 1,318 miles away from here in Iowa. She is works as secretary for two companies; she has been doing this more than 15 years. My mother would prefer for me to focus on school because she was very intelligent when she was my age. She notices that I love sports when I was very young like around 7 years old therefore she allowed me to play sports. She was worried that I will only focus on sports and not school. I got to my senior year; my mother started noticing that I was getting emails from different colleges to compete for cross country and track so she finally realize it was time to let her daughter do what she loves to do which was running. She started supporting me in going to William Penn University, so she helped buy what I needed to start my journey here in Iowa. She motivated me each day to do really good in school and sports in my senior year. • 11. Good Versus Evil In The Dark Knight The Dark Knight (2008), directed by Christopher Nolan, demonstrates the idea of good versus evil. Batman is known as the protagonist, and Joker is known as the ultimate villain. The representation of crime in the film is seen from the actions of both characters. The film essentially depicts the act of deviance meaning, behaviour that violates social norms, including laws . In normality the government would have the greatest amount of power, but in the Gotham city, power is complex. There is minimal structure of law and order in Gotham city due to powerful people like Batmanand the Joker. Citizens of Gotham city can no longer fight for themselves in a world filled with supernatural powers. Therefore, the only hope that citizens have rest in the hands of Batman. Although Batman attempts to save Gotham city from Joker s criminal intentions. Batman, however, also plays a role in deviant activity while attempting to catch the Joker. Realistically, Batman violates the moral code due to destructive behaviour, and putting the lives of citizens at harm. He does not care for social norms, nor whether his acts are of legality. He is devoted to combat organized crime with Harvey Dent, a district attorney in Gotham city. Batman is in fact, the definition of crime, he understands but does not abide to individual rights and social contracts which make up the rule of law. In addition, the man behind Batman, Bruce Wayne also portrays a form of deviance by disguising himself as Batman. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. We Wear The Mask Literary Devices Since the major part of the poem s recitation process has reached its finish line, I am relaxed, satisfied, and able to reflect on it adequately. I regard to the whole process as a fascinating, valuable and challenging adventure. Approximately two months ago, I began looking for a poem, which was a serious work since I pursued a powerful verse that was appropriate to my present state. Moreover, the poem s selection procedure involved studying historical and cultural aspects, for the reason that I was grown under a different circumstance and shared another background. I acknowledge the challenge of reading poetry in a foreign language due to an effort to realize the main message of the poem immediately and recognize the literary devices directly. Conversely, reading poetry in a native language seems natural and habituated inasmuch the sounds, music, vocabulary, phraseology, images and events are accustomed and familiar. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the fruits of my labor because the poem was chosen and the more I read it, the more I became aware, inquisitive and fascinated by it. Similarly to the white world , I ignored the thought of their suffering and pain since in the movies that I watched or on photographs that I saw, African Americans appear smiling. • 13. Science in the Media Science in the Media Project In the movie Back to the Future part II, Dock goes to Marty s house and parks his flying car in Marty s driveway. Just before they leave to head off into the future, Doc rummages through Marty s trash. In there he finds waded up paper bags, a banana peel, and a partially filled beer can. Doc then inserts the trash that he finds into the top of the engine component of his flying car. Immediately after doing so, they hover off into the future. This particular scene in Back to the future basically communicates that a vehicle such as Docs car, can use organic waste as fuel and that it can do so immediately after placing trash into its engine component. While it would be extremely convenient and cost effective for society to be able to walk into their garage, grab some trash and place it into their vehicles as fuel, and be able to be on the road in real time, the idea is not in fact completely real and is partially science fiction. There is a scientific process known as gasification a process for converting garbage into fuel and electricity without incinerating it Bullis (2009). This must take place in order for everything to work. This process is timely and requires spacious waste management facilities before a usable product is produced. The first thing to do is to separate the usable organic trash from the non usable waste. Organic usable trash is considered to be carbon based and will work in converting to fuel. Sure, there are females that rap, sure there are other ground breaking studio productions that were a work of art in and of itself, and sure rappers use lyrics that connect to relationships, politics, faith, and cultural criticism, but not like the famous Lauryn Hill. The poetic devices in Lauryn Hill s Mystery of Iniquity reveal society s inevitable self destruction through societal stigmas and stereotypes, justice system flaws, and religious references. To all the people who said that hip hop had nothing important to say, and had not a lick of musical bone in them, this song was a smack in the face to all the haters. Crisis Management Crisis management Once a crisis happens in an organization, the nature of the activities undertaken to respond to a major threat to the organization is what is referred to as the crisis management. The management of crisis such as the one in the case study on the copper mine collapse includes identifying the nature of the crisis and coming up with an appropriate plan to deal with it as the organization minimizes the damages and ultimately recovering from the crisis. Here there is a lot of focus that is directed towards the public relations to recover any public image damage suffered during the crisis as you assure the stakeholders of the recovery. Considerations in this crisis management There are ten fundamental steps to consider in such a magnitude of crisis as it involves potential life threatening conditions, as noted below (Khera Communications, Inc. 2009): 1. Have a comprehensive plan. The mine management should have a comprehensive plan that will enable the organization to get out of the crisis. The plan should be one that is able to address any bespoke and random vulnerabilities within the industry. 2. Crisis identification Identify the crisis as soon as possible once it happens and move fast towards finding a corrective measure. There are three golden rules in PR crisis communication that are fundamental in crisis control; as soon as a crisis happens, Tell it all, Tell it fast and Tell it honestly. Some ideas that were introduced by the textbook are very interesting and somewhat relevant to real world, but do not completely explain real life phenomenons. On the other hand, it also introduced many ideas that allowed me to perceive certain topics in a different light. One very interesting idea that the textbook brought up is the idea of altruism . The textbook treated this idea as purely a social preference. The book defined it as: someone is willing to bear a cost to benefit somebody else. Though I agree that this is true in many cases, there are also many cases in which some people are willing to bear a cost because there are negative externalities, which is something that was not talked about in Chapter 4. After reading the textbook, I realized something that was not mentioned in his lecture, which was the effect of income gap on GDP. As the book stated, income gap motivates people to work harder in order for them to ascend through social classes. I think this partially explains why though those Northern European countries are able to reduce income gap, their ranking in worldwide annual GDP ranks are usually not extremely high. The author s collection of memoirs draws themes about abuse and sexual misconduct, age old customs, education, and sexism in order to emphasize the struggles of being an Iranian Jew. Abuse inside and outside the home plays a central role in Wedding Song as Farideh recounts multiple stories of her classmates and her own experiences with older men inappropriately touching her..The issue of abuse also comes into play from other families especially when one of Farideh s classmates, Golee, describe how the girl s father would caress her back and put her hands in her panties...and lick his fingers (Pg. 112). This made me feel so disgusted and also sad for the girl because she assumed everyone s father did the same. It made me question how this was even allowed or what kind of twisted parent would do this to their child. Another theme that was emphasized were age old rituals and customs to fix problems. He is well known for creating many wonderful tunes but this one stands out above the rest. While his other songs contain bass heavy instrumentals and contain lyrics about money and women, this one is strays away from the previous structures. Artists tend to showcase a slower tempo for the song if it dealt with negative views of drugs because it is important to raise the awareness. Kanye tries to usher the ideas that money and education shouldn t be the only objectives of life, so it shouldn t be so important. Because it is unimportant, why express it with such detail in a slower pace? The music and lyrics therefore are contrasted with a purpose. The tempo is created with a bass guitar and drums. Add these to the already established acoustic guitar and female vocals and the beat sounds very complex. This suggests that the issues are also complex; they cannot be easily understood and solved. The lyrics of a song often have no substance and a clear example would be any Britney Spears song. The lyrics of All Falls Down are very deep. They talk about the ideal situation in life; We should go to school, get a good job and make money to buy what we want. The lyrics then ask, what if this doesn t happen? This is prevalent in the first verse. She has no idea what she doing in college. That major that she majoring, it don t make no money. Criminal Law And Popular Culture Question #1 Criminal Law and Popular Culture With the increase in crime rates and application of criminal justice, it is factual that the filming industry has embraced the issue where more than quarter of the television dramas and films are based on crime and criminal justice. Most of these television programs and dramas exhibit values such as societal norms in law enforcement and agencies involved in criminal law. Therefore, messages conveyed in these TV programs are based on the real life law enforcement through legal processes, legal system adhered to, and the law enforcers involved. Basically, these television programs feature the knowledge on the legal system, law enforcers representations, legal rights, compliance, and victimization. Close scrutiny of these programs exhibits that they are just fictions on law enforcement in the real life setting. Thus, they depict law enforcers as moral people in the society who are qualified in attending to crimes. Therefore, one can assert that criminal law helps the makers of these TV programs to draw a distinction between law enforcers and the criminals. Furthermore, it helps TV programs convey relevant information regarding the operation of the justice system. Procrastination can be argued whether or not if it s caused by choice. There are various factors that lead to procrastination such as; our being brain programmed to procrastinate, feeling like you aren t in the right frame of mind to do a particular task, and the lack of self confidence. Procrastination doesn t happen just because, it is a result of our brain being programmed to do so. This is something most can relate to because we visualize something going wrong so we won t do it. Another thing that can be involved is perfectionism, we may not want to attempt something unless we feel sure that we will be great at it. It becomes a vicious cycle, the more we procrastinate the more distressed we are and undermine our own confidence. Procrastination also happens because we may have a low self confidence. When difficulties arise, people with weak self confidence easily develop doubts about their ability to accomplish the task at hand, while those with strong beliefs are more likely to continue their efforts. In other words, it s how to tell how the economy of a country is doing. It is the total dollar valued of all goods and services; the size of the economy usually in a given year. GDP first came into use in 1937 in a report to the US Congress in response to the Great Depression, after Russian economist Simon Kuznets conceived the system of measurement. The system used before was the Gross National Product (GNP). It was widely adopted in 1944 as the standard means to measure national economist. The income approach to calculate the GDP is the sum of the components. Labor income, rental income, interest income, and profits earned by households in a year. What is spent on a product is the income to those who helped to produce it and sell it. The expenditure approach, on the other hand, totals consumption, investment, government spending, and net exports produced by a country in a year. The first component of the GDP is consumption. It includes all private and public consumption, government outlays, investments, and exports minus imports that occur within a defined territory. Is normally the largest GDP component. • 38. The Idea Of Social Entrepreneurship On the idea of social entrepreneurship The idea of social entrepreneurship implies diverse things to various individuals and analysts (Dees, 1998). One gathering of scientists alludes to social enterprise as not revenue driven activities looking for option financing methodologies, or administration plans to make social worth (Austin, Stevenson, and Wei Skiller, 2003; Boschee, 1998). A second gathering of analysts comprehends it as the socially mindful routine of business organizations occupied with cross area associations (Sagawa and Segal, 2000; Waddock, 1988). Also, a third gathering sees social business as a way to reduce social issues and catalyze social change (Alvord et al., 2004). It is vital to take note of the theoretical contrasts between definitions. Meanings of social entrepreneurship normally allude to a procedure or conduct; meanings of social entrepreneurship people center rather on the author of the activity; and meanings of social endeavors allude to the unmistakable result of social enterprise. In spite of the huge number of definitions, precise endeavors to guide activities and definitions are uncommon (see Boschee (1995) and Waddock and Post (1995), for two exemptions). While integral definitions, every concentrating on various parts of the wonder, are not as a matter of course a hindrance in the quest for hypothesis, despite everything we don t have a complete photo of the marvel and do not have an unmistakable comprehension of how social business ... • 39. The Crystal Land Poem Meaning The Crystal Land: Constructing and Destroying Zembla By shifting focus to the imagery of crystal, which carries contrasting connotations from the windows of the previous narrative, Nabokov also shifts the setting from the realm of reality to that of Kinbote s fantasy. The delicate extravagance generally associated with crystal can be seen as a representation of the unattainable, subjective realm both internal authors fundamentally strive for. The fact that crystal is able to refract light due to the presence of lead also supports that as it alludes to the idea of the false azure projected by the windowpane in Shade s poem. Furthermore, both Zembla and the ambiguous realm Shade portrays in the first stanza of his poem are dubbed the crystal land. This continual reflection of images from the ... This can be seen as a parallel to his previous position of observing from a glass house ; he is imprisoned in his rose stone palace from a corner turret of which one could make out with the help of field glasses lithe youths (97). While the rose stone doesn t initially seem to belong to the semantic field of glass, here Nabokov is referring to the rose quartz crystal. By using the word stone, however he evokes the juxtaposition of nature and glass imagery from the first narrative. By synthesizing the two symbols here, he can thus shift the meaning of crystal to act as a barrier entrapping the narrator within his fantasy. Furthermore, by placing Kinbote in the same voyeuristic role as in the first narrative, Nabokov is able to once again convey Kinbote s inability to transcend his fantasy due to his dissociation from reality. In effect, by including the fantasy narrative, Nabokov has the freedom for romanticized invention which allows him to literally imprison Kinbote in a crystal palace. This acts as a representation of the idea of the glass house explored in the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Peter Dean and Ken Gleiman of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI), have also noted the revised role of the ADF in combating these unconventional threats, which has led to amphibious forces across the globe being deployed to support a range of operations, including assaults, raids, withdrawals and demonstrations. These forces have been used in counter piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean, and against radical groups such as Al Shabaab in Somalia. Sometimes an author adds certain events or ideas to help accentuate the plot. In this novel there is a recurring theme of betrayal. The one that seems to be affected by the curse of betrayal the most is the main character, Jane Eyre, herself. Her first encounter with betrayal came about when she was still just a child. And as she grew older and experienced the world new ways unlike before, she could never escape the curse of betrayal. Jane s first encounter with betrayal was when she was still a child and her Uncle Reed brought her along to live with him and his family in Gateshead, after Jane s parents had passed away. Jane s Uncle Reed had promised to raise her as if she were one of his own children. However, this only lasted until Uncle Reed passed away. After Jane s uncle had passed, Jane s aunt and her three children had mistreated her and in some cases physically abused. On one particular day she was minding her own business whilst reading Bewick s History of British Birds, her obnoxious cousin John Reed was looking for Jane. Once he finds her, he treats her as if she was inferior to him, he wants his cousin to refer to him as Master Reed. Both of these texts clearly outline how resilient human nature can be they both tell the stories of women who are put into incredibly challenging situations and yet they both continue to survive. By going through these favorable or unfavorable experiences, they become emotionally stronger. However, this situation is not always the case. Most of the times, people find themselves unintentionally altering reality and avoiding the truth to make almost every situation beneficial.
