Nebuchadnezzar s Portrayal In The Book Of Daniel
Nebuchadnezzar is widely known through his portrayal in the Bible, especially the Book of
Daniel. The Bible discusses events of his reign and his conquest of Jerusalem. Daniel 2 contains
an account attributed to the second year of his reign, in which Nebuchadnezzar dreams of a huge
image made of various materials (gold, silver, bronze, iron and clay). The prophet Daniel tells him
Gods interpretation, that it stands for the rise and fall of world powers, starting with
Nebuchadnezzar s own as the golden head.
Daniel 3 is an account of Nebuchadnezzar erecting a large idol made of gold for worship during a
public ceremony on the plain of Dura. When three Hebrews, whose names were Hananiah, Mishael,
and Azariah (respectively renamed Shadrach,

Similarities and Differences between the Hellenic and...
There are two main periods in Greece history, Hellenic and Hellenistic period. They have some
similarities but they are significantly different. Many people believe that the Classical era is the
most impressive due to the success in literature, science, philosophy and architecture, which does
not mean that the Ancient Greeceis less significant. While in Hellenic era they saw rising and
falling of the polis in Hellenistic era it was more about war and fighting for among the prevailing
dynasties. The thing that they have in common is that they were consistent in discovering new
philosophies and science also decreasing the role of gods.
Culture
As we know the first period was Hellenic period which is most known for their polis, each polis had

During the era before Classical Greece Sparta and Athena had different paths because Sparta had
two kings and an oligarchic government, while Athens had instituted democracy. Sparta treated
men to be warriors and women could have their own properties, while in Athena men were trained
to be public speakers and women had only several rights. Despite the differences they joined to a
war against Persia, and after that there was a Peloponnesian war between the two poleis, where
Athena lost, at the end, Sparta, Athena and Thebes each took turn on the dominant Greek power.
One interesting fact is also that the buildings that they built had a political purpose also to
celebrate civil power and pride.
The time of Hellenistic period is marked in two ways, when Alexander and his father lived and
when Alexander died. King Phillip developed amazing military skills and found the resources to
pay the troops. Some states did not want to self defend and he found allies who wanted a new
unity so after the final battle Macedon ruled the Greece. After his death, Alexander came and
expanded the empire and promoted Hellenistic culture, so we can safely say that the Hellenistic
politics is centered on military

Comedy In Mean Girls
Do you find girl drama entertaining? In the 2004 film, Mean Girls, that is exactly what one can
expect. High school cliques like the popular crowd against all the other cliques is guaranteed to
always bring drama. This film, directed by Mark Waters, includes all the crazy things that teenagers
think they need to do to be popular including, drunken teen parties, pranking high schoolteachers,
and stealing boyfriends to look popular. This movie will only appeal to a certain audience. It is a
typical girl movie with drama men may not care for. Unexpectedly many males could also find
Mean Girls hilarious. There is comedy in every scene that appeals to many. While many people tear

The script is smart and creative, which many teens can relate to. It keeps the comic side of the
movie, while hitting some major real emotional memories some teenagers go through. This film
has said to be stereotyped, but as I see in Mean Girls, most likely everyone would fit into a
category seen in the film. The film focuses on the small funny touches, which the audience will
not forget. An example is the one of the Plastic s mother who thinks she is one of the Plastics.
Waters even adds funny little details to the background of the characters, like Lohan s character
being from Africa. The film s script is aimed towards teenagers and people over there teenage
years. There are many scenes with pranking and teenage humor that many people will find
comical. The dialogue is sharp and too the point while being adding humor to every scene. Mark
Waters has been known for making harmless comedies. I believe, while there may be a bad scene
or two, that the overall message is the truth and amusing. Waters also keeps it short and moving at
a fast pace. He keeps all viewers interested because it is not dragged out and there is something to
laugh about in every

The Act Of Selfishness In Ayn Rand s Sleepy Hollow
The act of selfishness is painted all over the story. This can be seen with our very own Ichabod
Crane, with him being selfish toward his relationship with Katrina wherein he did not truly love
her, but desired her father s wealth instead. In fact, it was in his plans to sell off the Van Tassel
family s farm once he d gotten married to Katrina. While it s true that he would help around the
places he stayed in and make the old wives happy, he did these things for his own benefit. He
only worked to make his hosts happy enough to feed him as much food as he wanted, not as a
kind deed or as a way to show his gratitude for letting him stay with them. Even as he left Sleepy
Hollow, he did not bother to come back to what he had left behind, but continued on his way as if
the village had never existed. If he had truly loved Katrina, or cared about the children he taught,
or those housewives he ate with, he would have come back, wouldn t he? It seems like he just
moved on to the next house of whoever would feed him.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I say so because he thinks only of himself and his own desires. He had no good thought for Ichabod
and leeched off of his fears and worries. We all know that he did this to humiliate Ichabod in
order to capture Katrina s heart by making her believe that Ichabod was a weak coward and that
he, Brom Bones, was manly and powerful. Furthermore, he would constantly play pranks on the
people of the village (like he did to Ichabod), not caring about how they felt or what the effects of
his actions were. Believe it or not, the dainty Katrina who is the love interest of our two main
men, was self centred as well! I mean... in her own way. She practically used Ichabod to make
Bones jealous! It kind of makes you think: who truly loved

A Magneto Rheological Shock Absorber
A magneto rheological shock absorber or magneto rheological damper is a damper filled with
magneto rheological fluid, which is controlled by magnetic field, usually using an electromagnet.
This allows the damping characteristics of the shock absorber to be continuously controlled by
varying the current in the electromagnet. This type of shock absorberhas found applications in semi
active vehicle suspensions which may adapt to road conditions, as they are driven by continuous
sensor monitoring and also with prosthetic limbs. Fig. No.1. Magneto Rheological damper
Above figure shows the schematic of magneto rheological damper which is consist of cylinder,
piston, piston rod and electrical winding. There are three types of the magneto rheological damper
are,
Mono tube MR damper
Twin tube MR damper
Double ended MR damper
MONO TUBE MR DAMPER
From the three types, the mono tube is the most common since it can be installed in any direction
and it is small in size. A mono tube MR damper, shown in Figure, has only one store for the MR
fluid and it is associated with accumulator mechanism to accommodate the changes in volume that
results from piston rod movement. The accumulator piston is used for providing a barrier between
the MR fluid and a compressed gas (usually nitrogen) that is used for accommodating the volume
changes of liquid that occur when the piston rod enters the housing. Fig. No.2.Mono tube MR

Military Desertion Research Paper
Bryce Peterson

If Military hierarchies are not an effective form of ranking systems how have they been successfully
used for thousands of years? Although it is true that there is tension among the military, there are
several reasons that debunk all theories about justifying military desertion and treason. For
thousands of years all branches of any nations or empires Army were extensively trained for
combat and situations that may arise in that environment. To say a officer in the military would
leave even under command not to because they are under stress, is a very poor reason to break the
law and millitarys codes.

Should Autistic Children Be Placed In Special Schools
For many years people have discussed whether autistic children or teens should be placed in
regular classes, given special aides, or if they should be placed in special classes. In the book,
The Spark, by Kristine Barnett, it talks about how Kristine s son, Jacob, otherwise known as
Jake, was diagnosed with autism at age two, yet he overcame all of the stereotypes placed on
autistic children. Jacob was in a special Ed class, but his mother pulled him out because he was
not making any progress. She decided to prepare Jacob for mainstream kindergarten, all on her
own. She knew that the special Ed class was helping him learn or retain the information being
taught to him, it wasn t helping him at all, it was hurting his education. They had focused... Show

They want nothing but the best for them, even if it means going out of the way. Jacobs s mother
didn t like the way the special Ed was only focusing of her son s inabilities to focus and get things
done, but when she pulled him out and decided that she would be the one to teach him she
ultimately knew that she had to concentrate on what he was able to do. She wasn t satisfied with
the way the school was teaching the special kids. I also am not satisfied with how they place
autistic kids or teens in our school system. Children with autism should be placed in classes that
their parents want them to be placed in, they shouldn t just be placed in a special class, because
the school feels that they are incapable of meeting the class standards. If the parents feel like
they should be placed in regular classes, they should be given special aides. As for teens with
autism, they should be able to choose where they want to be placed in regular courses with the
help of a special aide, or if they want to be placed in special classes. The children, teens, and
parents should be the ones to decide if they should be placed in regular classes, or special
classes, not the school. At my high school I met this boy in one of my classes, he didn t have
autism however he did have a hearing aide, and he couldn t speak. He was in one of my AP
classes, he was brilliant in that subject, and he always had one of the highest grades in the class,
I also had him for a regular class, he had a special aide there to help him with that subject. In the
class he had a special aide in he used her help minimally, he did everything that he could on his

The Usurped The Role Of The Church And Family System
Over the past few centuries, the United States government has slowly usurped the roles of the
church and family system, causing Americans to put their trust and hope in the government. The
government has taken the responsibilities from the church and children from the family. As the
future progresses, government, church and family progress along with the changing society;
government has removed God from many things and replaced Him with science and modern
beliefs. Government has taken the trust from the people out of the church. People now trust the
government to provide for them instead of the church. When people needed jobs, the government
gave us welfare. When people needed food, the government gave us food stamps. When people
needed medical attention, the government gave us Medicaid. When people needed housing, the
government created homeless housing. The government created hope for the... Show more content

Taxes are part of the government s duties. Now when taxes are paid, the government takes them
and does whatever they see fit to do with them. Our taxes pay for different government services
which then, in turn, take the other responsibilities of the church. The Bible says though that the
church is to take the taxes and distribute them to whoever and whatever they see fit. The
government takes 30% of our income while Scripture says to only take 10%. According the
Constitution, we do have the right to freedom of speech and freedom of religion, but our beliefs
cost us now. We are no longer free to say what we believe. Christians are persecuted everywhere for
their religion. The church teaches us about miracles and the wonders of God. The government
teaches us that science is the end all. Once science has said something, that is the truth and that is
what should be believed. Over time, government has become the positive influence for many and
the church has lost many of its previous responsibilities and

A Fellowship At Schaefer Centre Of Public Policy
It is with great enthusiasm that I apply for a fellowship at Schaefer Centre of Public Policy Insti at
the University of Baltimore. After researching a few universities, I found the university appealing
for its track record of academic excellence, mentorship and its proximity to Washington DC, the hub
of public policy. My inspiration to study public administration stems from, my vision to become an
agent of change, a change that will not only better the lives of women and children but, humanity
as a whole.Having lived and schooled in three different countries, I have seen firsthand the impact
of policyon the lives of citizens. In my own home country, public policy is the missing link in
growth and sustainable development. The breakdown of rule of law, absence of institutions and
absolute corruption has sent the economy to the grave. Zimbabwe, once the bread basket of Africa,
is now a dustbowl with over 13 million citizens surviving on international Aid. I am fully convinced
that, better standards of living, economic development, positive health outcomes and sustainable
development can only be achieved through effective policy formulation, implementation, and
administration.
The change Zimbabwe needs, demands knowledge and skill. A doctorate degree will give me
thorough understanding in the discourse of Public Administraion through, intergrating theory and

Relationship Between Audiences And Films
Unit 24 Assignment 4
Audiences and Films
The BBFC has commissioned me to undertake research as part of a project to ascertain to what
degree films can be regarded as powerful within contemporary society. In this assignment, I will
comprehensively explain the relationship between audiences and films with well explained
examples. I refer to the different sectors relating to the topic that include the following:
a)active and passive audience models
b)the preferred readings theory
c)reception theory and viewing contexts
d)your own research into the relationship between audiences and films
Active and Passive Audiences
An active audience is the opposite. An active audience can interact with the programme and tell
them their views, and what they would like to see. They can influence the outcome of the whole
show.
A passive audience is an audience that has no influence over the outcome of the programme. They
cannot change it in any way and it is up to the writers to decide what happens and when.
Hypodermic Needle Model
The Hypodermic Needle Theory is one of the oldest in the field of media studies. Also known as the
Magic Bullet Theory, it states that media has a direct, complete and immediate effect on the
audience. The message for the media is directly received and wholly accepted by the user. The
audience is considered to completely passive entities that are left at the mercy of the media. Media
is considered to be super strong with the potential of mesmerizing its

Restrictive Cardiomyopathy Essay
Other forms of secondary restrictive cardiomyopathy include scleroderma, Friedreich s Ataxia,
hemochromatosis, glycogen storage disease and sarcoidosis. Chemotherapy and radiation
therapy used to treat cancer can also cause restrictive cardiomyopathy. Sarcoidosis is caused by
the infiltration of granulomas in the heart and other tissues of the body. Lungs and lymph nodes
are the main organs targeted by this disease, but no organ is spared as it also affects the central
nervous system and skin. In the USA, the occurrence in the white population is estimated to be
11 per 100,000. It affects people between the ages of 20 to 30 years and occurs more in women
than in men (Dubrey, Bell, Mittal, 2007). Hemochromatosis is caused by the buildup of iron in
the heart tissue which can then lead to heart arrhythmias. Scleroderma is a disorder of the
connective tissue that leads to fibrosis of the skin, heart and lungs. Glycogen storage disease, also
named Pompe s affects infants. It causes increased storage of glycogen and fat tissue in the body.
This causes the heart then to become very heavy and thick. Infants tend to struggle to breath, have
trouble feeding and fail to meet developmental steps on time like rolling over and sitting up. Fabry

Amy Tan Fish Cheeks Essay
Fish Cheeks
The essay Fish Cheeks by Amy Tan takes place in her teenage years and it s about something that
happened at that time. On the day of Christmas Eve, Amy s mother invites the minister and his
family over, who are Americans, so that both families can celebrate together. For dinner that
Christmas, Amy s mom had prepared all of her favorite foods (like fish cheeks). However, even
though her favorite foods were served, she constantly felt mortified through out the night. From the
love of her life, also known as the minister s son, Robert, who was at the dinner table, all the way
to the cultural differences in manners caused Tan to depreciate her familytraditions on that
Christmas dinner because she was unaware of what the American family was thinking of her
Chinese traditional dinner. However as we age and become older we also gain a lot of wisdom and
understanding of the reality we live in through hard times and challenging situations, which we

thought shots. She would constantly feel embarrassed from the moment the American family
arrives all through the very end of Christmas Eve dinner. Considering the smelly and gross
looking Chinese traditional dishes also the loud and weird acting relatives, I witnessed a good
imagery from the way Amy describes them. The main concerns to Tan are how and what the
American family thinks of them. In my life I also struggled with internally wanting approval from
the others however I got over it by realizing that the external reality cannot control how I feel. Later

Ancient Greek Theatre And Modern Theatre
How Has Ancient Greek Theatre Impacted Modern Theatre?
Theatre! America s favorite pastime! Not quite. Or is it? I would agree that most of us do not think
of spending an afternoon at Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro as fun. However, watching
an episode or two of The Office doesn t sound that bad. What we do not realize is that even though
television, Netflix, and movies are the most prevalent forms of entertainment in today s society, we
would have none of these without the ancient Greeks idea of entertainment: theatre. From ancient
comedy, we have gained stand up comedy, romantic comedy, and just plain forms of comedy
entertainment. From tragedies, we have gained dramas and tear jerkers. Those couple examples and
so many others are just a few ways that our modern day entertainment is similar to the ancient.
The setting of a theatre almost always consisted of stadium style seating with the acts at the
bottom and in the middle. Most plays were open to the public and people were allowed to sit
wherever they wanted. However, important officials and officers usually sat near the front. Their
seats were usually made out of stone to show high status, and the rest were made out of wood.
Like many theatres today, these consisted of the left and right wings, the main floor, a backdrop
which was more or less a curtain, and an orchestra section. Bibler 2
The context of ancient Greek theatre was hugely based on poking fun at politics, religion, and the

Best Garage Door Opener
Best Garage Door Opener How To Know You Ve Found The Best Garage Door OpenerAs with
many other gadgets we take for granted, finding the best garage door opener is probably level
with finding the perfect soap on a rope on most peoples list of priorities. When you consider the
impact they have on the safety and security of your home, however, you ll realize that it may be
prudent to give them a little more thought. Think about it that garage door is probably the largest
moving appliance in your home bar none. And a real potential hazard lies in such a device being
controlled via remotes indeed, this makes this type of garage door very prone to causing accident
and injury. No other appliance can so easily be accidentally activated as the garage door opener. It s
important to note that, following the many unfortunate incidents involving garage doors and
children, automatic garage door openers were actually reviewed and subjected to experiments by
medical and safety authorities. Their findings showed that, in the period spanning between 1974
and 1995 alone, no less than eighty five children died or suffered permanent brain trauma from
these terrible accidents.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

German Blitzkreig Essay
German Blitzkreig
The Blitzkrieg was one of the most powerful weapons in World War II. Hitler used it to quickly
defeat whole countries in a matter of weeks, before any defenses could even be thought of, much
less deployed. Poland, Norway, and Belgium all fell before Britain had time to defend them. Later
on, after D Day, when the allies had massed great amounts of troops and combat weapons in
France, the allies started there own blitzkrieg which quickly pushed the Germans back to the
Rhine River at a rate of 40 miles per day. The blitzkrieg at the beginning of the war doomed Hitler
at the end. Blitzkrieg tactics gave Hitler an overwhelming amount of confidence that made him

The paratroopers then held the airfields until cargo planes of infantry could land and make the
airfield their own. Hitler would utilize this new improvement in warfare in his blitzkrieg over and
over again. The allies also adopted it for their own use. The allies used paratroopers in almost all
major operations, including D Day. Next came the German Blitzkrieg in France. On May 10, 1940
the Germans attacked Belgium and the Netherlands to surpass the Maginot line. However, the
main attack came through the supposedly impassable Ardennes Forest. In two days, May 13 to
15, the Germans forced two crossings of the Meuse River and tore a 50 mile gap in the French
front. On June 10, Italy entered the war on Germanys side and attacked France in the South. On
June 14, the Germans entered Paris, and on June 22, France surrendered to Germany. All of
Europe was now under German control, or German Allies control. They had taken Poland,
France, Norway, Denmark, Czechoslovakia, Romania, and the Balkans, all using blitzkrieg
tactics. Nobody up to this point had ever had enough time to set up a defense to truly test the
German Army, and Hitler s only way of war. By this point in the war, Hitler was so confident in
his blitzkrieg tactics, that his next move was to use blitzkrieg tactics on Soviet Russia, and
attempt an air blitzkrieg on Britain. By June of 1941 Hitler s confidence was booming. His
blitzkrieg tactics had taken over all

Meaning Of Homeland
Moving forward, the nationalist sentiments did not stop after the Holocaust, but were furthered, and
now captivated other nations in the world to support a Jewish state as well. Before the Holocaust,
Jews knew there was a mass presence of anti semitism throughout Europe, in which was a driving
factor to establish a homeland. After the Holocaust Zionismcontinued to gain popularity. In the
essay The Meaning of Homeland the author Amos Oz gives his own personal perspective on
Israeli nationalism when claiming being a Jew in the diaspora means that Auschwitz is meant for
you. It is meant for you because you are a symbol, not an individual. (237) By saying this he
argues nationalism is a necessity because even if a Jew has nationalism for the

How Did The French Revolution Influence Art
The French Revolution and the Art it Influenced
Liberty, equality, fraternity, or death; the last, much the easiest to bestow, O Guillotine! wrote the
famous author Charles Dickens, in his classic book, The Tale of Two Cities. The French
Revolution (1789 1796) was a fight for liberty and equality, which ultimately led to the execution of
Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, by way of guillotine. And, eventually Napoleon
Bonaparte became the ruler of France. This was a transforming time in not just France s history,
but European history and World history. The people of France were fed up with the monarchy
and the burden of high taxes, as the monarch rulers squandered money away while the people
faced famine and poverty. The Revolution was so powerful that artists not only painted about it,
but they became revolutionaries themselves, like Jacques Louis David, who is famous for his
works, Oath of the Horratii, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps. In 1830, the second French
Revolution broke out and this was known as the Three Glorious Days , in which the people of
France protested Charles X after he imposed ordinances that prevented freedom of the press and
increased the power of his monarchy ( French Revolution , n.d.). The famous allegorical painting
by Eugene Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People, is a historical depiction of the second French
Revolution and illustrates the connection between socioeconomic and political issues, and art.
This paper will look at David s Napoleon Crossing the Alps, and Delacroix s Liberty Leading the
People and analyze the impact of the French Revolution on art of those periods.
Jacques Louis David (1748 1825) was one of the most famous Neoclassist painters, as well as a
devout revolutionary in 19th century France. He painted works that some consider propaganda of
the time, yet he did so in pure Neoclassical fashion (Pollitt, n.d.). Eventually, he became the
personal painter for Napoleon Bonaparte, as he continued to support the revolution through art. In
Napoleon Crossing the Alps, we see a diagonal, yet static composition. The diagonal that is created
by the horse is reminiscent of Baroque figures, yet it lacks the movement that the Baroque style
portrayed so well.

Impact Of Visual Merchandising On Consumer Behaviour
High fashion brands all over the world use numerous tactics and methods to influence consumers
buying behavior. One of these methods is the use of visual merchandising and placement in their
retail stores. This paper will analyze how high fashion brands use visual merchandising in their
retail stores to influence consumer behavior and the effects it has on consumers buying habits,
arguing that the right visual merchandisingwill positively stimulate consumers buying behavior. For
the purpose of this paper we will use the following definition of visual merchandising: Visual
merchandise is the presentation of a store and its merchandise in such a manner that will attract the
attention of potential customers. It involves decorating the store keeping the interior presentation
the same as what is promised on the outside. (Economic Times) And consumer behavior as ... the
study of individuals, groups or organisations and the processes they use to select, secure, use and
dispose of products, services, experiences, or ideas to satisfy needs and the impact that these
processes have on the consumer and society... (Cant, et al. 2013) Today s fashion and retail market
is highly competitive making it essential for brands to create the right atmosphere and convey the
right message through their visual merchandising. Visual merchandising, when done correctly, is
the most direct way of stimulating consumers and influencing their buying behavior. Shopping is

There are times when someone does something important to help the person that is suffering.
One example is from the book Night; this is when Elie s dad was about to be thrown out of the

The For A Hospital Campus At Cresson ( Sci Cresson )
As one turns off Old Route 22 in Cambria County at the site of the former State Correctional
Institution at Cresson (SCI Cresson), it readily becomes apparent that the facility is closed. It hasn t
been an ongoing enterprise since it ceased operations in 2013.
There are few indications that this facility was once a vital component in Pennsylvania s anti
tuberculosis campaign.
Upon further study, several buildings appear out of place. Their architecture is more akin to that
found on a hospital campus.
This peaceful setting masks the legacy of the untold story of thousands of Pennsylvania civil
servants who dedicated their professional careers over several generations to treat those stricken
with this illness. One of the most noteworthy was a nurse by the name of Eliza C. Allison. She
served in the institution known commonly as the Cresson San from its opening in 1912 to her
termination in 1935.
Born in Fairfax County, Virginia, she served the Commonwealth for over two decades as the
Director of Nursing in one of Pennsylvania s three tuberculosis sanatoriums. Amongst her many
achievements was developing a training Institute for student nurses and pioneering a school for
tuberculin children. Prior to her tenure at Cresson San, Ms. Allison s skills were refined at the
Philadelphia (PA) Home for the Incurables and the Washington (D.C.) Hospital for the Foundlings.
This is where she received her training at a local nursing school.

sleep apnea include
loud or irregular snoring excessive daytime sleepiness repeated nightly arousals non refreshing sleep
morning headache nightly periodic absent breathing Loud snoring at night can be more than just a
nuisance. It can actually signal to you that something could be wrong with breathing during sleep.
In most cases, there are no serious medical consequences associated with snoring.
But for about 20 million Americans, this loud, habitual snoring can indicate a life threatening
disorder know as sleep apnea. An apnea is actually a lack of breath. For most people during sleep,
it is normal for the breathing muscles to relax. The problem is, for some people, excessive muscle
relaxation occurs which disrupts breathing. Disordered breathing during sleep also can occur if the
brain stops sending the needed messages to the breathing muscles. In either case, the presence of
apnea should be taken seriously.
Sleep apnea is more common in middle aged men and overweight people.

the value of the flexibility into the option price. It values the option to exercise but not the
obligation to make future investments. It is based on the law of one price (the price of two

increases with great uncertainty (see Exhibit 3). The major uncertainties are Arundel Partners

Selective Inos Inhibitor
Specific Aims
We propose to modify the recently discovered natural product terpenoids to develop a selective
iNOS inhibitor with improved in vivo properties.
Specific Aim #1: To confirm and enhance bonding of terpenoids to iNOS. A SILAC experiment
will allow the action of the small molecule on iNOS, eNOS, and nNOS to be confirmed. SAR
studies will then be performed to enhance selectivity towards iNOS and improve pharmacological
properties.
Specific Aim #2: To study the effects of iNOS inhibition on angiogenesis. The development of
vessels from human umbilical stem cells in the presence of either one of our terpenoids, a
traditional iNOS inhibitor, a genetic knockdown, or a control will be studied to determine the effect
of iNOS inhibition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Provided the natural product does not simply quench nitric oxide, further testing will be
performed. Alternatively, if the natural product does show activity towards nitric oxide, it will
be modified to a moiety less sensitive to the radical before further testing is performed. To test
for the selectivity of these molecules SILAC testing will be performed. Using the computer dock
data from the terpenoid paper, a bead will be attached to the small molecule near the isopropyl
group, which does not seem to be involved in any major interactions in the active site. This bead
placement will need to be confirmed experimentally by testing the nitric oxide production of cells in
the presence of the compound and the compound with the bead are similar. After the location of
bead placement is determined, one set of cells will be grown with the small molecule in heavy
medium and another control set of cells in regular medium with no compound. After incubation, the
proteins that have attached to the small molecule can be determined through mass spectroscopy

of inadequacy has vanished. He no longer feels insecure about himself or ordering of his
crewmen. He also orders the men to move the ship closer to the island, giving Leggatt a chance to
escape and survive. The Chief Mate responds by saying, Do you mean, sir, in the dark amongst the
lot of all them islands and reefs and shoals? (45). Instead of hesitating or doubting, the Captain
responds calmly, saying that they must go to find the land breezes. This shows the Captain s
confidence in himself and his judgement. Although the crew is afraid, the Captain fearlessly leads
the ship to the island. This is the first time that the Captain has taken full control of the ship without
second guessing himself or worrying about what the crewmen will think of him. No one in the

This was because their failure undermined her own performance. This phenomenon is explored in

of a situation due to many fluctuating external variables such as a doctor trying to treat mutating

imperative for a person to exercise a locus of control geared closer towards that of an external locus

Pension Reform Essay
The analysis of networks of Turkish pension reform is interesting for two reasons. The first reason

criticisms about the policy making processes and the justifications of Turkish pension reform.
Turkish political context for policy network approach Turkish political context is in a nutshell that
state is everything. Turkish state exhibits a highly centralized and interventionist characteristic. In

Further, policy networks provide a legitimization of criticized policy reforms. Turkish pension
reform In the context of structural programs conducted by IMF and credit agreements with
World Bank, Turkey has taken a series of significant steps for pension privatization. World Bank
(1994) has suggested a three pillar pension system: a publicly managed, anti poverty system as
the first pillar; privately managed, individual retirement accounts as the second pillar; and a
voluntary, supplemental benefit plan as the third pillar (World Bank, 1994). After these steps
were taken, current Turkish pension system consists of a large first pillar (encompassing
PAYG), a small second pillar and a modest but growing third pillar (Cecen et al., 2016). The
reform also includes measures that harden the retirement conditions such as a gradual increase in
retirement ages and contribution periods and withdrawal of the state guarantee in retirement
finance of the employees. Considering steps taken, we could examine Turkish pension system in
four periods (Table1). The wave of reform first arrived in Turkey in 1999. Before 1999, pension
scheme consists of a broad first pillar depending on PAYG system and a rudimentary second pillar.

How Well Informed are Pension Scheme Members on Their Future Pension Benefits? Evidence
from Ireland explores pertinent issues regarding Irish retirees. The article, written by Alan Barret,
Irene Mosca and Brendan Whelan appeared in the Journal of Aging and Social Policy in 2015.
The paper begins by acknowledging the significance of providing the Irish community with an
adequate and financially sustainable pension system (Allan Barret, 2015). The paper notes that in
Ireland, the private sector offers an incredible platform for enhancing pension savings. The paper
s key objective entails exploring patterns of knowledge of a private pensions system. In the study,
the authors employ the first wave of The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), Ireland s
representative study of residents aged fifty years and above. The dataset is a key strength of the
paper mainly because it includes a module regarding retirementplanning. The article arrived at its
goal through questioning respondents and offering them the freedom to provide honest responses.
Firstly, the authors highlight some of the key features of the Irish Pension System including the
three pillars revisited earlier on in this paper. This is followed by an in depth literature review of the
Irish pension system thereby providing more insight into the intricacies surrounding Irelands
Retirement system. The authors revisit a 2005 study in order to comprehend potential retirees
perception of future pension benefits. By

Tuckman s Model

50 years have passed since the Tuckman s classical model of Small Group Development was
presented to the world. According to Miller (2003, cited by Bonebright, 2010, p. 111), Tuckman s
model has become the most predominantly referred to and most widely recognized in
organizational literature . Established by Bruce W. Tuckman in 1965 and reconsidered by Tuckman
and Jensen in 1977, the model represents the well known phases of team development: forming,
storming, norming, performing, and adjourning.

McMorris, Gottleib, and Sneden stated that one of the strengths of the Tuckman model is its ease
of use at the practitioner level, noting its practical perspective and common sense approach
(McMorris, Gottleib, Sneden, 2005 cited by Bonebright, 2010, p. 118). First, recent theories
recognize the complexity of group dynamics in today s world and are not easily represented in a
simple model. Second, the wide body of literature on organizational and workplace issues means
that practitioners have access to information about many specialized areas of group development
such as leadership, motivation and rewards. These theories are broader and deeper than Tuckman s
original model. They provide detailed discussion of many aspects of group dynamics from forming

The article was written by Kelin Emmett and reviewed by Firmin DeBrabander .

criticize the media by encouraging fear. The article claims that the communities most affected by

the guns as emblematic of freedom.
My opinion about the subject of this article is:

If more beds are acquired, Mt. Sinai Hospital will have immediate additional cost of purchasing
more beds as well as additional cost in the x ray department as serving more patients will results in
handling more x rays. This optimal solution will use up its maximum unutilized capacity of 7,000
more x rays.
(c) Laboratory tests: 3.1m + 2.6s ≤ 15000
Optimal solution: m= 2790.909, s= 2104.545
Laboratory tests: 3.1(2790.909) + 2.6(2104.545) = 14123.63≈ 14124
The laboratory is not utilized to its maximum capacity. The laboratory is capable of handling
another 15,000 tests per year. In this optimal solution, there will be another 14,124 lab tests only.
Hence, it is able to perform 876 more lab tests (15,000 14,124) per year.
If Mt. Sinai Hospital acquires more lab space, there will be no additional cost until it reached its
maximum capacity of 15,000 additional lab tests. However, there will be additional cost if it
exceeds its maximum capacity.

Optimal solution: m= 2790.909, s= 2104.545
X ray: 1(2790.909) + 2(2104.545) = 7000
The x ray facility is being used to its maximum of 7,000 x rays in this optimal solution. The x ray

Nursing 109 Case Study
Gena Stockland
Nursing 109, Case Study 2
October 4, 2017
During an annual physical examination, Henry Oats, a 59 year old hospital administrator, was
diagnosed as having an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Abdominal CT angiography confirmed the
diagnosis. The CT showed an abdominal aortic aneurysm greater than 10cm in diameter and he was
scheduled for an open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair. Mr. Oats has arrived to the hospital for his
scheduled surgery.
Mr. Oats is upset by his diagnosis stating that he does not have time to be admitted right now and is
only doing this because his physician insisted. As the nurse enters the room to admit Mr. Oats, he is
sitting on the edge of the bed talking on the phone, giving multiple instructions to his secretary. His
admission findings include:
TPR 37 C P 98 R 20 BP 190/106
He has no complaints of pain or discomfort. He is mentally alert and seems impatient and irritable.
He is upset that he had to be hospitalized since he feels fine and is worried about the forthcoming
hospital accreditation survey.
A pulsating mass in the abdomen can be visualized and palpated when he is supine. There is a
faint palpable dorsalis pedis in the left foot. The dorsalis pedis is absent to palpation and doppler
on the right. The right foot is cooler than the left but both have normal color.
1. What is the rationale for the surgeon insisting that the procedure be done so quickly after the
diagnosis? (5%)

Marie Antoinette s Influence On The French Revolution
In 1755, JosГЁphe Jeanne Marie Antoinette was born as the daughter of Empress Maria Theresa;
the sovereign who ruled the Hapsburg Lorraine House in Austria. As a princess and a member of
the Hapsburg dynasty, she inherited good looks which earned her a title of youthful goddess of
beauty and virtue upon her arrival in France. At her age of fourteen, her mother sent her off to
faraway France to married Dauphin, later known as Louis XVI, in order to secure a diplomatic
alliance through marriage with France, a former enemy of Austria. Initially, Marie Antoinettehad
charmed the French people with her delicate looks; however, as she became the queen, slanderous
accusations piled continuously which eventually damaged her reputation and led to her death. Why
the French people hated Marie Antoinette so much and what are the sinful things she did in order
to earn their wrath? From the existing pamphlets published before the French Revolutionup to
Coppola s film Marie Antoinette, the press demonized the once adored lady into a highly
lascivious whore. Marie Antoinette s sexual abuse were caused by the public perception as a
sexualized body, a hidden fear towards all publicly active women and the potential power of their
bodies, in which they use their sexual advantages toward men to gain an access to political power.
First, the queen was an unwelcome guest in French people s eyes. Marie Antoinette was treated as
a scapegoat due to her gender and the French people s fear of

The Evolution Of Crime And Our Criminal Justice System
The evolution of crime and our criminal justice system over the past centuries has mirrored societal
change. Gone are the days when one might get their hand cut off for stealing, or stoned to death for
an act against the society, and in are cyber crimes, identify theft and other twenty first century
misdeeds. Along with this evolution, an often forgotten element in the criminal justiceprocess, the
victim, began making its way into the spotlight. Although there have always been victims present in
some crimes, victim rights and victim participation in criminal proceedings did not emerge until the
1970s. Fast forward to the present, and victim s rights have grown to include: right to restitution, the
right not to be excluded from criminal justice proceedings, the right to speak at criminal justice
proceedings, and the right to be treated with fairness, and respect for the victims dignity and
privacy. The inclusion of victims as a legally recognized participant with rights, interests, and voice,
has created an avenue for victim s voices to be heard, but spawn a delicate balancing act between
the interest of the state and the individual victim. Legal protection for victims varies from State to
State with differing statutes and State constitutions, and research has indicated states with stronger
statutory protections provide victims better access to be involved, and to feel the system is
responsive. Victim involvement in the

Analysis Of Edith Wharton s House Of Mirth
From Gender Roles to Gender Goals
Edith Wharton s novel, House of Mirth, written in 1905 centers around Lily Bart, a single woman
in her late twenties, who is constantly struggling to maintain her status in high society. Lily
navigates herself through the upper class with a double consciousness . This double consciousness
enables her to recognize ...that [she] is at the same time inside and outside the ideology of gender;
and conscious of being so, conscious of that twofold pull, of that division, that doubled vision
(Carson 695). Throughout the text she is constantly trying to balance a life of being a financially
independent woman or the New Woman Wharton and her contemporaries added to the female
archetypes, but then having to abide in the gender roles that society had established. The limits of
her sex contribute to her inevitable failure by the end of the novel but the knowledge of them
aided her deconstructing her role as a woman. This double consciousness is an advantage since
she is able to manipulate the upper class, but the facade she tries to maintain in order to achieve
her goal financial stability contributes to her falling victim to the society she tried to configure to
her own desires. In this paper, I will argue how the double consciousness of Lily Bart deconstructed
the tradition woman to assert the New Woman .
I.
It makes her look like the real Lily the Lily I know (Wharton 166). This seems to be a never
ceasing topic of who the real Lily

Despite the differences they joined to a war against Persia, and after that there was a Peloponnesian war between the two poleis, where Athena lost, at the end, Sparta, Athena and Thebes each took turn on the dominant Greek power. One interesting fact is also that the buildings that they built had a political purpose also to celebrate civil power and pride. The time of Hellenistic period is marked in two ways, when Alexander and his father lived and when Alexander died. King Phillip developed amazing military skills and found the resources to pay the troops. In fact, it was in his plans to sell off the Van Tassel family s farm once he d gotten married to Katrina. Even as he left Sleepy Hollow, he did not bother to come back to what he had left behind, but continued on his way as if the village had never existed. She wasn t satisfied with the way the school was teaching the special kids. I also am not satisfied with how they place autistic kids or teens in our school system. Children with autism should be placed in classes that their parents want them to be placed in, they shouldn t just be placed in a special class, because the school feels that they are incapable of meeting the class standards. If the parents feel like they should be placed in regular classes, they should be given special aides. As for teens with autism, they should be able to choose where they want to be placed in regular courses with the help of a special aide, or if they want to be placed in special classes. I would agree that most of us do not think of spending an afternoon at Carolina Theatre in downtown Greensboro as fun. However, watching an episode or two of The Office doesn t sound that bad. What we do not realize is that even though television, Netflix, and movies are the most prevalent forms of entertainment in today s society, we would have none of these without the ancient Greeks idea of entertainment: theatre. From ancient comedy, we have gained stand up comedy, romantic comedy, and just plain forms of comedy entertainment. From tragedies, we have gained dramas and tear jerkers. Those couple examples and so many others are just a few ways that our modern day entertainment is similar to the ancient. The setting of a theatre almost always consisted of stadium style seating with the acts at the bottom and in the middle. Most plays were open to the public and people were allowed to sit wherever they wanted. However, important officials and officers usually sat near the front. Their seats were usually made out of stone to show high status, and the rest were made out of wood. Like many theatres today, these consisted of the left and right wings, the main floor, a backdrop which was more or less a curtain, and an orchestra section. Meaning Of Homeland Moving forward, the nationalist sentiments did not stop after the Holocaust, but were furthered, and now captivated other nations in the world to support a Jewish state as well. Before the Holocaust, Jews knew there was a mass presence of anti semitism throughout Europe, in which was a driving factor to establish a homeland. After the Holocaust Zionismcontinued to gain popularity. In the essay The Meaning of Homeland the author Amos Oz gives his own personal perspective on Israeli nationalism when claiming being a Jew in the diaspora means that Auschwitz is meant for you. • 22. How Did The French Revolution Influence Art The French Revolution and the Art it Influenced Liberty, equality, fraternity, or death; the last, much the easiest to bestow, O Guillotine! wrote the famous author Charles Dickens, in his classic book, The Tale of Two Cities. The French Revolution (1789 1796) was a fight for liberty and equality, which ultimately led to the execution of Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI, by way of guillotine. And, eventually Napoleon Bonaparte became the ruler of France. This was a transforming time in not just France s history, but European history and World history. The people of France were fed up with the monarchy and the burden of high taxes, as the monarch rulers squandered money away while the people faced famine and poverty. The Revolution was so powerful that artists not only painted about it, but they became revolutionaries themselves, like Jacques Louis David, who is famous for his works, Oath of the Horratii, and Napoleon Crossing the Alps. In 1830, the second French Revolution broke out and this was known as the Three Glorious Days , in which the people of France protested Charles X after he imposed ordinances that prevented freedom of the press and increased the power of his monarchy ( French Revolution , n.d.). The famous allegorical painting by Eugene Delacroix, Liberty Leading the People, is a historical depiction of the second French Revolution and illustrates the connection between socioeconomic and political issues, and art. This paper will look at David s Napoleon Crossing the Alps, and Delacroix s Liberty Leading the People and analyze the impact of the French Revolution on art of those periods. Jacques Louis David (1748 1825) was one of the most famous Neoclassist painters, as well as a devout revolutionary in 19th century France. He painted works that some consider propaganda of the time, yet he did so in pure Neoclassical fashion (Pollitt, n.d.). Eventually, he became the personal painter for Napoleon Bonaparte, as he continued to support the revolution through art. In Napoleon Crossing the Alps, we see a diagonal, yet static composition. The diagonal that is created by the horse is reminiscent of Baroque figures, yet it lacks the movement that the Baroque style portrayed so well. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Upon further study, several buildings appear out of place. Their architecture is more akin to that found on a hospital campus. This peaceful setting masks the legacy of the untold story of thousands of Pennsylvania civil servants who dedicated their professional careers over several generations to treat those stricken with this illness. One of the most noteworthy was a nurse by the name of Eliza C. Allison. She served in the institution known commonly as the Cresson San from its opening in 1912 to her termination in 1935. Further, policy networks provide a legitimization of criticized policy reforms. Turkish pension reform In the context of structural programs conducted by IMF and credit agreements with World Bank, Turkey has taken a series of significant steps for pension privatization. World Bank (1994) has suggested a three pillar pension system: a publicly managed, anti poverty system as the first pillar; privately managed, individual retirement accounts as the second pillar; and a voluntary, supplemental benefit plan as the third pillar (World Bank, 1994). After these steps were taken, current Turkish pension system consists of a large first pillar (encompassing PAYG), a small second pillar and a modest but growing third pillar (Cecen et al., 2016). • 44. Marie Antoinette s Influence On The French Revolution In 1755, JosГЁphe Jeanne Marie Antoinette was born as the daughter of Empress Maria Theresa; the sovereign who ruled the Hapsburg Lorraine House in Austria. As a princess and a member of the Hapsburg dynasty, she inherited good looks which earned her a title of youthful goddess of beauty and virtue upon her arrival in France. At her age of fourteen, her mother sent her off to faraway France to married Dauphin, later known as Louis XVI, in order to secure a diplomatic alliance through marriage with France, a former enemy of Austria. Initially, Marie Antoinettehad charmed the French people with her delicate looks; however, as she became the queen, slanderous accusations piled continuously which eventually damaged her reputation and led to her death. Why the French people hated Marie Antoinette so much and what are the sinful things she did in order to earn their wrath? From the existing pamphlets published before the French Revolutionup to Coppola s film Marie Antoinette, the press demonized the once adored lady into a highly lascivious whore. Marie Antoinette s sexual abuse were caused by the public perception as a sexualized body, a hidden fear towards all publicly active women and the potential power of their bodies, in which they use their sexual advantages toward men to gain an access to political power. • 45. The Evolution Of Crime And Our Criminal Justice System The evolution of crime and our criminal justice system over the past centuries has mirrored societal change. Gone are the days when one might get their hand cut off for stealing, or stoned to death for an act against the society, and in are cyber crimes, identify theft and other twenty first century misdeeds. Along with this evolution, an often forgotten element in the criminal justiceprocess, the victim, began making its way into the spotlight. Although there have always been victims present in some crimes, victim rights and victim participation in criminal proceedings did not emerge until the 1970s. Fast forward to the present, and victim s rights have grown to include: right to restitution, the right not to be excluded from criminal justice proceedings, the right to speak at criminal justice proceedings, and the right to be treated with fairness, and respect for the victims dignity and privacy. The inclusion of victims as a legally recognized participant with rights, interests, and voice, has created an avenue for victim s voices to be heard, but spawn a delicate balancing act between the interest of the state and the individual victim. Legal protection for victims varies from State to State with differing statutes and State constitutions, and research has indicated states with stronger statutory protections provide victims better access to be involved, and to feel the system is responsive. • 46. Analysis Of Edith Wharton s House Of Mirth From Gender Roles to Gender Goals Edith Wharton s novel, House of Mirth, written in 1905 centers around Lily Bart, a single woman in her late twenties, who is constantly struggling to maintain her status in high society. Lily navigates herself through the upper class with a double consciousness . This double consciousness enables her to recognize ...that [she] is at the same time inside and outside the ideology of gender; and conscious of being so, conscious of that twofold pull, of that division, that doubled vision (Carson 695). Throughout the text she is constantly trying to balance a life of being a financially independent woman or the New Woman Wharton and her contemporaries added to the female archetypes, but then having to abide in the gender roles that society had established. The limits of her sex contribute to her inevitable failure by the end of the novel but the knowledge of them aided her deconstructing her role as a woman. This double consciousness is an advantage since she is able to manipulate the upper class, but the facade she tries to maintain in order to achieve her goal financial stability contributes to her falling victim to the society she tried to configure to her own desires. In this paper, I will argue how the double consciousness of Lily Bart deconstructed the tradition woman to assert the New Woman . I. It makes her look like the real Lily the Lily I know (Wharton 166). This seems to be a never ceasing topic of who the real Lily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
