Selling A Home Is A Real Estate Agent Essay
Selling a home can be a daunting task for a professional real estate agent. With property
promotion, open houses and a fluctuating market, trial and error usually wins out over book
knowledge and written rules. But, what about the homeowner who decides to sell their home
without the help of a professional. Believe it or not, you may find some of your greatest help in
comp homes. When placing your homeon the market for sale, you will inevitably look in your
neighborhood for other comp homes also for sale. Competitively pricing your home will draw in
potential buyers more quickly than pricing your home out of the range of other comp homes in
the area. This pricing model only works if you can find a comp home in your neighborhood. But,
how will you know if a home is comparable? Homeowners should always look at their rival
competition for help in selling a home. Visiting the open houses of other homes in the area, or
arranging for a walk through with the owners or real estateagent handling the sale, will help you
to gauge the home s condition, in comparison to your home. This tactic is also helpful for
homeowners selling a home without a real estate agent. Seeing how a real estate agent offers the
information about the comp home, viewing the real estate agent s fliers and promotion sheets, as
well as, seeing the changes or key points a real estate agent stresses during a walk through will
help you to better understand how you should be handling those aspects of your sale.

Catholic Faith In Schools
Demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of the catholic faith and mission of the school I believe it
is important to create an environment that children feel safe and comfortable to take risks with
their learning. The catholic faith helps to create this type of inclusive classroom when reinforced
throughout all curriculum areas and interactions with the students. When this is achieved, children
will be able to develop into the best version of themselves. In order to create a safe classroom, I
would be accepting of different cultures and beliefs of the students in my classroom. I would do this
by including their beliefs in discussions about faith and spirituality. Students could better connect
the catholic faith to their own lives which will enable them to have meaningful understandings. This
would allow other students to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I will actively be spreading the word of the bible through good deeds in the community. I have
been an active blood donor for several years now and understand the importance of supporting
those people in the community who need help like the sick. I have also been a part of different
volunteer programs in the community. Growing up in a small rural community, my family was
actively involved as volunteer firefighters. This involved supporting other farming families with
paddock burn offs and more serious issues like attending out of control bushfires which I never
had to experience. Since beginning my teaching degree, I have been a part of a local playgroup
program which allowed different families to come together and connect. The children were the
focus of the initiative as the program allowed social interaction, gross motor development and oral
communication to name a few. It also allowed the parents to talk to educators in a relaxed setting
about issues about their children they might not feel comfortable discussing

Supply Chain and Bergerac
Bergerac Systems: The Challenge of Backward Integration
Abstract
Veterinary expenditure has been on an increasing trend due to the increase in pet ownership in the
United States. Bergerac is a company producing equipments used for testing pet patients in the
veterinarian clinics. Omnivue is one of the most successful equipments produced by the company,
which is priced at a competitive rate to attract lower and middle sized veterinarians. The production
of Omnivue involves the use of plastics and chemical reagents supplied by two major suppliers,
GenieTech and Elsinore. The management of Bergerac is planning to take control over its suppliers
to reduce the production fluctuation and overhead costs of the firm. There are three strategic ...

Hence, manufacturing department should not interfere in the distribution department, and the latter
should be experienced in distribution of products like Omnivue to the end customers.
Strategic Alternative 2 Backward Integration
Backward integration is a type of vertical integration in which a company takes control over its
suppliers. It is a form of acquisition of the intermediary players involved in supplying the raw
materials used in the production process of the firm. Raw materials, intermediate manufacturing and
assembly are controlled by the firm whereas distribution to the end customer is done by a third
party company. In this way, company increases production efficiency and gains a competitive
advantage by lowering its production cost.
Bergerac can opt for the buy option and implement its backward integration by acquiring
GenieTech. GenieTech can provide the company with eight efficient molding machines for the
acquisition price of $ 5.75 million. The price includes experienced labor force and management.
Bergerac can fulfill its chemical reagent demand by using 4 out of 8 moulds provided in the
acquisition. Rest of the presses can be used in the expansion process or can be used to meet the
demand of a third party. This investment can result in the reduction of overhead expenses by
twenty six percent per unit. Bergerac can pay the amount over a period of five years making the

An Infinity Of Little Hours Summary
In An Infinity of Little Hours: Five Young Men and Their Trial of Faith in the Western World s
Most Austere Monastic Order, a novel written by Nancy Klein Maguire, readers are regaled with an
extensive look at the life of mid twentieth century Carthusian monks, which as one would infer from
the title, is quite ascetic. A rare look inside Parkminster, the Carthusian monastery referred to as a
charterhouse, creates a unique opportunity for readers to gain great insight into the Carthusian
Order.
Maguire regales and educates readers with a nonfiction story about five Carthusian monks from
the 1960 s. Readers learn how each man came to the monastery and what he left behind. They
learn about life as a novice and life in a cell. They learn about ... Show more content on

The least helpful features of the book included the author s lack of clarity in characterization which
could have been strengthened either by better character development or simply fewer characters
and names to keep straight (the appendix at the close of the story was not an adequate solution),
the dramatic shifts in point of view, and the occasionally overwhelming amount of detail
provided. For the most part, remedying these faults, was the evidence employed by the author.
Maguire seems to have done a brilliant job researching her subject, and it is clear to the readers
that what is presented to them is, without a doubt, an accurate account of life within the walls of
Parkminster. Under the pretenses that it was the author s goal to give readers that intimate look at
the ascetic life of mid twentieth century Carthusian monks, it is clear that she achieved her goal.
If readers are able to look past the confusion created by some of Maguire s stylistic choices and
the many monks and their many names, then he or she will likely be quite pleased by the
especially insightful, extraordinarily personal, and enormously in depth account of Carthusian
monasticism provided by Nancy Klein Maguire in An Infinity of Little Hours: Five Young Men and
Their Trial of Faith in the Western World s Most Austere Monastic

Defining The Area Of Intellectual Property Law That...
The term of copyright used to describe the area of intellectual property law that regulates
copyrighted work such as book, songs, films and computer programs. This is governed by
Copyright, Designs, and Patents Act 1998 (CDPA). Sec 1 of CDPA give the creator right to

typographical arrangements. This concept expressed in Art 2 of TRIPS that it protects the
expression of an idea. However, when an idea could only be expressed in one particular way, it won

and confer greater freedom for certain bodies. However, this changes is likely to affect businesses,
publisher, individual and institutions who deal in copyright works.
A landmark case on private use exemption can refer in Basca and others v Secretary of State for

exception if the copy for private use caused no more than minimal harm to copyright holders,
otherwise compensation would be payable. In UK, government create an exception which caused

An Invasive Point Of View

BOT 1 Term Paper

An Invasive Point of View
Day to day, we are faced with perpetual decisions based on practical criteria. They have become
so engrained within our regular schedule that we may not even think about the consequences. The
automatic movements that we go through each day usually don t require a major ethical
decision. However, when they do, values, world views and personal interest are all considered.
The decision making process is very often initiated with a world view, or with some sort of bias.
The outcome is based on one s understanding of the facts, or even based on one s upbringing.
Environmental ethics often come into play when considering invasive species. On a global scale, we
live in a high array of technological advances in transportation. We are able to travel across vast
distances that open pathways for ourselves and exotic plant hitch hikers. The more we travel, the
more species we transport. The issue arises of whether or not this is a natural process in which
nature should be able to take its course. When considering this, multiple perspectives are formed in
the process. Some intend to take advantage of this resource, while others aim to eradicate the entire
non native population. While many people understand that an invasive species has the potential of
being harmful, they still intend to let nature run its course. Therefore, it is important to understand
all perspectives that factor into the decision making process

Summary Of Seamus Heaney s A Call
Seamus Heaney s A Call explores the speaker s building contemplation of their father s mortality
and the subsequent sense of adoration that the speaker experiences. Throughout their typical call
home, the speaker s thoughts increasingly grow out of context, especially in regards to their father s
mortality. After contemplating this mortality to a great extent, the speaker recognizes the eventual
impact that their father s impending deathwill have on them. An unexpected focus on their father s
mortality leads the speaker to experience intense lovefor their father during a seemingly casual
phone call.
As the speaker casually calls their parents, a setting of calm expectations is established. While
greeting the speaker, the mother s decision to run out and get (1) the father highlights the lack of
urgency that is present. The mother is calm and fetches the father in an expected and relaxed
fashion, further establishing the calm expectations of the ongoing call. The mother additionally
states that the weather here s so good (2). Heaney s use of the word good reflects the setting of
the mother and father s home; the atmosphere of where they live is pleasant and unperturbed. The
weather serves as a projection of the father s own state, implying that the father is in good health
and that death is not yet looming over him. The last spoken words in the poem reveal that the
father was conducting a bit of weeding (3). The word weeding highlights the capability of the

Essay on Mortgage Crisis on Money Supply

Impact of the Mortgage Crisis on Money Supply in the US This paper presents the effects of
expansionary monetary policy to macro economic variables in the economy. The United States of
America recorded a mortgage crisis since 2007. The financial sector issued out massive amounts of
money to individuals to acquire homes. This was in line with government campaigns for equitable
housing of US citizens in the United States. This led to an increase in loans offered to citizens to
purchase homes, leading to an expansionary monetary policy. Though this strategy brought equity

Inflation went up to 4% in 2007 and over 5% in 2008. However, the country tightened its monetary
policy in 2009 leading to a reduction in inflation though minimal (U.S Government, 2011). This
has also led to exportation of inflation and economic decline to other countries. Many countries
rely on the United States economy for financial donations and aid as well as markets for their
goods and services. The decline in economic performance in United States and the subsequent
decline in its purchasing power reduced the level of donations and loans to other countries. Markets
for foreign goods in the United States equally declined.
Foreign Exchange Rate and Money Supply With the mortgage crisis recorded in the United States,
the country s currency declined in value in respect to other world currencies. Increase in money
supply led to an increase in the volume of money in circulation in the United States. This led to a
rise in prices of goods. Because of this, the value of the dollar declined in the international money
markets. The decline in value of the dollar led to imports becoming very expensive. This further
reduced the country s production capability, leading to a further economic decline. A devalued
currency makes a country s exports cheaper than those of other countries. This has the potential of
boosting the level of exports in countries with devalued currency thus reducing their balance of

A Romantic And Modernist Perspective
Kyle D. Brubaker
Dr. Vernooy
ENG 237 01
11 December 2014
Memory: A Romantic and Modernist Perspective During an age when Britain was producing more
writing than perhaps ever before in its history; romantic writers such as Wordsworth and Coleridge
place a large emphasis on nature and what impact this construct has on the mind and imagination,
while modernist writers such as Hardy, Lawrence, and Yeats attempt to exercise a strong break from
tradition. This ideal of straying from the pack creates a sense of bitterness and radical doubt
throughout the modernist period, and thus, causes citizens living in this time to carry about their
daily activities with doubt and pessimistic attitudes.
After examining the literary movements of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One can argue that William Wordsworthbelieves that memory can be utilized as an anecdote that
is able to cure someone s pain, while a writer such as Thomas Hardy would disapprove of this
Wordsworthian ideal by believing that memory is simply a shroud of gray (Vernooy). This
claim can be supported as true when Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern
Abbey is examined more closely. Within this piece, Wordsworth states, These beauteous forms
/Through a long absence, have not been to me/As is a landscape to a blind man s eye/But oft, in
lonely rooms, and mid the din/Of towns and cities, I have owed to them/In hours of weariness,
sensations sweet (Wordsworth 23 27). Here, Wordsworth provides a detailed description about
how nature is able to provide a safe haven for him in a time when Britain s cities are looking to
industrialize more than ever. By personifying nature during this time of economic crisis,
Wordsworth is creating an outlet that aids him in moving forward.
Conversely, Thomas Hardy encompasses the idea of nature and memory by almost insulting
Wordsworth. For instance, Hardy would argue that one cannot sit on the couch and rekindle old
memories in order to transgress, but instead, one needs to be out and about in order to gather as
many physical memories as humanly possible. Within Hardy s Under the Waterfall, the female
persona is attempting to rekindle one of her past memories, which as we all

Snow White Archetypes
Taylia Terrell Mrs. Weiner English 4 13 September 2017 Hunting Down the Archetypes
Archetypes play a big role in many books, short stories, TV shows, and movies. There are several
different kinds of archetypes, but many of the same archetypes can be repeated throughout a
storyline. An archetype could be a character, theme, symbol, or even a setting. Some examples of
those include: The Bully (a character who intimidates others), White (a color that represents purity
and peace), and The Garden (a setting in which fertility and love are symbolized). In Snow White
and the Huntsman, many archetypes are brought to the viewer s attention. The Devil Figure is a
common archetype; it is one who is infatuated with evil, offers worldly goods in exchange... Show

In the story that everyone knows, Snow White is the fairest of them all. She is pure, kind,
innocent, and has good knowledge. All of those things fall under the White archetype. She also
shows us the Battle between Good and Evil. Typically, good triumphs. This archetype is
normally seen as light versus dark. Snow White is originally running from the Queen, and along
the way she fights many obstacles, such as, the Queen s guards/armies. Eventually, she develops
her own army and goes to fight Ravenna. Which brings me to the Light and Darkness Archetype:
light is a symbol of hope and renewal whereas darkness symbolizes the unknown, ignorance, evil,
and despair. Snow White is pure, honored, and gives an example of hope to reestablish her
kingdom, while The Queen is anything but honored. The people of the kingdom resent her and the
darkness that she displays. Last but not least, Snow White exhibits The Task archetype. In this
archetype, the hero will save a kingdom and identify themselves so that she may assume her
rightful position. Snow White s task is to restore life and take back the kingdom that was taken
from her by the

Aristotle s Ideas Of Potential Infinity
Aristotle supported the idea of potential infinity but refuted the idea of actual infinity . He defined
potential infinity by saying if you are counting natural numbers, logic would tell us that we can
always add one to the previous number and that can potentially go on forever. He also said that we
could potentially use this logic in geometry if we imagined a line that extended beyond both points
with no recognizable end. On the contrary, actual infinityseems paradoxical because even if we had
an infinite number of things in a category then infinity would still be whole in a sense with a
beginning and an end. Aristotle s ideas were supported for many centuries ( Aristotle , n.d.).
The philosopher Zeno of Elea (495 435 B.C.E.) came up with the idea of infinite divisibility . The
basic concept of the theory was that you could take any object, cut it in half, cut those halves in
half, and so on until you reached the end of the divisibility process and were left with only particles,
or elements as he called them. The first conclusion he drew from this theory was that the elements
were essentially nothing, which meant that the sum of all the pieces made the whole object
nothing. The second conclusion was that the elements were something but that they had no size,
which meant that the sum of the whole object also had no size. The last conclusion was that the
elements are something and they do have a size. But that would mean that you would never reach

In 1899, Pablo dropped his scholarly studies and joined a group of young artists. The group
brought together a number of writers and artists well known as modernistes (Klein, 2010). Their
art assimilated modern trends in art like symbolism. It also evoked the mood and atmosphere
rather than the traditional literal description. With regard to poster design, graphic arts and
illustration, their art followed the art nouveau from French, which was characterized by
artificial colors, twisting contour lines and simplified shapes (Fandel, Picasso, 2006). By the
early 1900, Pablo and his colleagues art had moved further to place emphasis on social causes
and political anarchy. For instance, Pablo s work showed sympathy for the poor in urban areas
like Barcelona and Paris. The artist had traveled to Paris for a number of times in the 1900
before he finally decided to permanently settle four years later (Art in Action, n.d). Most of his
fellow young artists also moved to the same capital where their works were displayed in salons

The World Of A Plane Crash
In September of 2004, Lost first aired on ABC. The drama series about people stranded on an
island after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate
millions every episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and
their personal backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series
progresses, characters once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single
episode and shed light on topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode
in season two, demonstrates this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic
of the series is toned down to bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria.
The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has
affected the lives of many who live there, what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of
influence drug trafficking has around the world. The episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye

statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in open and revealing the heroininside. Eko then
demands that Charlie take him to the location where he found the statue, which happens to be a

What Is The Tone Of My Last Duchess
Love, death, and infidelity were weaved through the readings this week. In My Last Duchess by
Robert Browning, the speaker is a Duke who is looking at a painting of his last (now deceased)
Duchess and remembering her. His memories are not fond; he was jealous and possessive, and
frankly, a bit of a dramaqueen. His suspicion is evident repeatedly, starting in line 13 where he
states, Sir, twas not/ Her husband s presence only, called that spot/ Of joy into the duchess cheek
. Lines 21 24 boldly say what he was alluding to earlier on, She had/ A heart how shall I say? too
soon made glad,/ Too easily impressed: she liked whate er/ She looked on, and her looks went
everywhere. She blushed easily and enjoyed looking at things, so in his mind she was a bit
promiscuous. He thought his wife unfaithful basically because she was polite. This, as well as his
uppity attitude, are both made clear in lines 31 34, She thanked men, good! but thanked
/ Somehow I know not how as if she ranked/ My gift of a nine hundred years old name/ With
anybody s gift. He thinks that his name alone is a better gift than anything else; he s conceited and
entitled.

Analysis Of The Immortal Lie Of Neil Armstrong
The Immortal Lie of Neil Armstrong
That s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind . That is how Neil Armstrong
characterized his first steps on the moon. Or perhaps, his first steps across a stage, in front of a
film crew. That line sounds an awful lot like a good movie line after all. Whether or not the U.S.A.
has ever actually reached the moon is a hot topic that has been debated for decades, and for good
reason. The space race was so much more than a scientific expedition, it was a battle of a
communist way of life versus a democratic one. That is why when the astronauts arrived, it was
paramount that an American flag be planted in order to assert dominance over the soviets, and
the world. On May 25th of 1961, President J.F.K. made it the public goal of the United States to
successfully send a man to the moon and to bring him home safely. It was then, according to
some scientists, that N.A.S.A. adopted a policy of, If you can t make it, fake it (Moffet). The
space program tried, and failed, for 9 years trying to achieve this goal before having to resort to
plan B. The men and women of the U.S. were in a frenzy over communism throughout the 1950 s
and 60 s. Simply being accused of being a communist could ruin someone s social life and career
in an instant. During this so called Red Scare senator Joseph R. Mccarthy of Wisconsin become
infamous for accusing anyone of being a communist on loose evidence or a whim. He took down

Sociological Issues On Social Issues
When thinking about sociological issues taking place in our society today, issues concerning our
environment commonly are not ones we put on the top of the list, however they should be. It is not
that any of the other social issues do not matter, but without a world to live on, or an environment
to live off of those other issues would not even be taking place. Our environmenthas been
something that we neglect and carelessly use for our own personal economic growth because it is
what has been done for many years. We are destroying our world s land and using up its natural
resources and are even wasting them without concern about what consequences are resulting from
doing so. There are ways that we could fix and eliminate problems that we have caused to our
environment, but in order to do so we will have come together and put in the effort to make the
change and become more environmentally conscious in the aspects of our everyday lifestyles.
Much of our world s land is destroyed to provide for our growing population through the
occurrence of deforestation which causes loss of biodiversity and soil depletion. There are
natural causes of deforestation such as wildfires, but most of it occurs through urban development
and most notably agricultural development. We destroy acres of forests in order to have more
land for cattle and other farm animals to graze upon, but also to have land to produce grain that
won t be fed to us, but to the animals. It is also seen that a majority of

Visit Keraton Yogyakarta:, Indonesia, a A Javanese Palace withthat Has a Live History in Indonesia
Indonesia in the ancient times, from Aceh in the west to Ambon in the east is the place where
many kingdoms existed in the past. The kingdoms were then ruled by the Dutch colonial in the
17th century before finally merged and formed the Republic of Indonesia in 1945. Now we can
only see some traces of the kingdoms in the form of royal palaces that are spread throughout
Indonesia. However, among many of the palaces, keraton Yogyakarta(Yogyakarta palace) is the
only Indonesian s ancient palace that still maintains its activities, just like what the royal people did
in the past. Why is that? Well, to understand that, we need to learn a bit about Indonesian history.

Near-Death Experience Theory
Death is something every human is afraid of. We know it will happen sooner or later; it is
inevitable. Death takes away loved ones, it takes away people that are so important to us. So
many people have gone through near death experiences, which is why those people look at life
like it is so precious. Spiritual and physiological hypotheses are about near deathexperiences. While
there are some differences between a spiritual hypothesis and a physiological hypothesis, the
similarities are evident.
According to Oxford Dictionary, a near death experience is an unusual experience taking place on
the brink of death and recounted by a person after recovery, typically and out of body experience
or a vision of a tunnel of light . According to howstuffworks.com, ... Show more content on

Ode on Melancholy commentary
AP Literature 19 August 2013 Ode on Melancholy John Keats s poem, Ode on Melancholy ,
serves as an instructional manual on how to cope with sadness and the feeling of melancholy.
Through his vivid use of lyrical language and allusions, Keats s is able to depict vivid images
that haunt the soul and is able to convey his message that the only way to deal with a sense of
melancholy is to accept it. Keats believes that once one can accept sadness and make it a part of
his identity, then he can overcome the overwhelming feelings of depression and find true happiness
in life. The author also implies that happiness must be earned; to find happiness, one must endure
the travesties and turmoil to reach it. Overall, Keats s work has the... Show more content on

In this statement, Keats is stating that should sadness appear, one should embrace the sadness
and take it in rather than to push it away. By absorbing the sadness and drowning it out with
thoughts of happiness, such as gazing upon her peerless eyes , one can find happiness once
again. The third stanza begins with Keats addressing the mistress as she Dwells with beauty
beauty that must die . Continuing with the metaphor of the mistress and the feeling of sadness,
Keats says that beauty must die. By saying that the mistress is beautiful, Keats is implying that
sadness and happiness are linked. The happiness, which is the beauty of the mistress, in life is
evanescent and continuously leaving. This comparison of happiness and sadness and the beauty
of the woman reinforces the idea that happiness isn t permanent. It is short lived and comes with
its repercussions. Through his poem, Ode on Melancholy , Keats tries to find the balance
between happiness and show his readers how to achieve it. He tells the readers that by accepting
the sadness, one can find happiness, even if it is only temporary. Through his allusions and lyrical
language, Keats is able to paint the image of happiness and sadness through comparisons to
poisonous drugs and beautiful sceneries as well as convey his message to his

John Mill s On Liberty
In John Mill s On Liberty, he addresses the topic of individual decision making and the
restrictions that can be placed on it. Mill argues that if an object or action has potential for harm
but also the potential to accomplish an outcome other than harm, then that event or object should
not be forcibly regulated or restricted. He uses an example of a person crossing a dangerous
bridge as support to his argument. Assuming that this individual is in a reasonable mental state,
the individual should only be warned of the danger of crossing the bridge but not forcibly
restricted from crossing. Mill states that because a poor outcome is only possible and not certain,
the individual should be allowed to cross as this fits his definition of liberty.... Show more content

Mill could make the argument, but what if the decision has no consequence for others? My
rebuttable would be that there is rarely (if any) a scenario that a detrimental decision by an
individual doesn t leave other unaffected. Even in Mill s hypothetical scenario of the bridge
crossing, a person could be under the bridge and become injured if the person falls while crossing.
Furthermore, a rescue crew could be sent and crash on the way there. There are far reaching
consequences beyond the individual and his/her decision that need to be taken into

The Flaws Of The Titanic And The Titanic
Despite how entertaining the film Titanic actually is, it has many flaws that can be pointed out.
Titanic is a love story between a woman of the upper class and a man of the lower class.
Throughout the movie they face the difficulties of Jack (Lower class man) not being high enough
stature to please the family of Rose (upper class woman) while they sail through the ocean on a
luxurious cruise ship. As the Titanicsinks the film shows the two being together and going through
the catastrophe that is the final hours on the Titanic. In the movie, Titanic, director James Cameron
used a few important actual events that occurred in the history of The Titanic. However, there are
some things that were only added for detail, entertainment, and action in film. Real life survivors
from the ship s sinking report what is valid and incorrect in the movie.
Many things in the movie, Titanic, actually happened in the actual event. One similarity is when
The Titanic s band continued to play as the ship went under. The lead violinist realized the chaos
around him and started playing, soon to be joined by his band members. An article on the
Titanic says, After the ship struck an iceberg, Wallace Hartley assembled his eight man band,
and they eventually ended up on the Boat Deck near the entrance to the Grand Staircase. There,
they played ragtime and waltzes. ( Questioning The Story ). This is reported by survivors to be a
valid occurrence in the sinking of the Titanic. Another similarity between the movie and actual
event is when ice landed on the main deck of the Titanic. When the ship hit the iceberg, huge
pieces of ice fell onto the main deck. A story on the Titanic says, Survivor William Lucas reported
seeing about a couple of tons of ice on the fore well [deck] on the starboard side of the ship. (

Titanic. The Titanic movie has many similarities to the actual event.

must however be reasonable immediate as in Thomas where threats by pickets to miners on a bus

Symptoms of Narcissism in Eve Using Paradise Lost
Symptoms of Narcissism in Eve I. Introduction A. The allusion to pagan fable that most haunts
views of Milton s Eve is her Narcissus like behavior when, fresh from her Creator s hand, she
pauses at the verge of the mirror lake attracted by her own reflection and has to be called twice:
first by God, who leads her to Adam, and then, as she starts back toward the softer beauty of the
face in the lake, by Adam himself. (McColley 63). B. Eve s scene in which she observes herself at
the pool can be seen as a biblical form of the myth of Narcissus. C. I will argue, first, that Eve s
scene alludes to Ovid s myth of Narcissus. Second I dispute interpretations that view Eve s actions
as a narcissistic impulse,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scholars have attempted to come up with an answer which explains Eve s Narcissus like
tendencies. Some scholars feel that Eve s narcissism is an innocent stage of human development
since she quickly outgrows it. (McColley 63). One scholar feels that There is a certain beauty in
Eve s narcissism because it is the linking of above and below. (Norford 10, 14). Others, like
Jonathan Collett, gather the idea that Eve s scene at the pool is simply a biblical form of the
Narcissus myth. The myth of Narcissus, written by Ovid, is the tale of a hero whose self love
gradually brought him to his death. Although Eve s memorization of herself at the pool did not
ultimately take her life, there are many similarities which tie Eve s scene at the pool and the myth
of Narcissus together. Mr. Collett writes, This situation by the pool echoes Ovid s tale of
Narcissus and attributes to Eve a native vanity that issues in the Fall, sometimes finding additional
sinister implications in periodic resemblances between the creation of Eve and the birth of Sin.
(Collett 88). Throughout his article, Collett notes on similarities found not only between Narcissus
and Eve, but also between the birth of Eve and the birth of Sin. One similarity can be found in the
myth of Narcissus. Echo, a local nymph, crosses paths with Narcissus, and at first glance, notices
his beauty and falls in

Rhetorical Analysis Of Games By Steve Johnson
If you put yourself in an environment with lots of different perspectives, you yourself are going

with the knowledge of other perspectives. Also, the new ideas will encourage debate and
conversation. Not only will other people s views enhance ideas, but also is crucial for writingon a

Johnson has written similar books to these topics and has done research for them, therefore, he
must have previous knowledge to some extent before writing Games. In the first paragraph
Johnson is already showing he has done his research and writes about Dr. Spock and what he must
say about video games (196). Afterwards, Johnson introduces another source he has studied, this
time about reading, written by Andrew Solomon (197). Both studies Johnson introduces shows he
has researched both video games and reading. Later in his piece, Johnson writes, When I read
these ostensibly positive accounts of video games... (200). Johnson is showing the audience he is
analyzing video games for himself by reading about them and the actual content of the games.
Concluding his piece, he states that video games can be hard (Johnson 201). This statement
implies Johnson has played video games himself, otherwise he would be contradicting himself of
what he says in the context. He talks about the gap between people who have or have not played
them. People who have not played them cannot talk about them coherently (201). Therefore,
Johnson must have played video games and gained a personal experience that makes him qualified

Dangerous Liaisons By Pierre Ambroise Laclos
It is true that in the old times women did not have equal rights as men. Men had more social and
political freedom comparing to women, and the system was organized on men. It took a really
long time for women to gain at least some equality. In the book Dangerous Liaisons by Pierre
Ambroise Laclos there are many examples of women having much less rights comparing to men
in the 18th century. Back then, women simply couldn t do what men could simply because they
were women and they weren t considered as powerful as men were. Women had to do more
things in order for them to do the same things as men. For example, if women wanted to have an
affair it had to be kept secret and no one was supposed to find out about it, because if someone did

So the author can also hide Cecile s true feeling because she doesn t want everyone to know that
she was raped. This would make her life in the future miserable, because none of the men would
want to marry her, since back then men wanted to have pure wives. Another part of this
argument is that Valmont said that since he had the key to Cecile s room, people would believe
him rather then her. Cecile states that in the letter to Madame de Merteuil: ...he was careful to
tell me that, if anyone came, he would know how to put all the blame on me; and, indeed, it was
very easy, because of the key. (letter 97, page 148). That could be true the people would believe
Valmont rather than Cecile because of the key, but Cecile could have also brought up that she
gave him the key because she wanted him to bring the letters from Danceny, since Cecile s
mother already knew that Cecile was writing to Danceny before. This could have saved her from
the rape from Valmont. But because she didn t not do that, I do not believe that the scene with
Valmont seduction of Cecile, could be considered as rape. This can also be showed how women
had much less rights because people were more likely believe Valmont rather than Cecile if
something was to come up about that seduction. Cecile wasn t able to share it with anyone
except for Madame de Merteuil because she knew she basically had no rights and her life would
be over. On the other hand Valmont was happy to share that he had an affair with Cecile because it
was an accomplishment for him, even though it was not as big as his usual

class twice a week. Wes Moore states, Some days I would check into homeroom; other days I d
head directly back to the train and return to the neighborhood, where I d meet up with one of the

Persuasive Essay On Junk Food
Today, obesity is such a huge problem in America that the average revolving door had to be
widened from 10 feet to 15 feet. Americans nowadays cannot control themselves when it comes
to fast food or simply just junk food in general. Everywhere people look there are those giant,
gold double arches on the corner or there are those chips they have been craving all week at their
checkout. With that being said, who really is there to blame? Most might blame the foodindustries
for the recent increase in obesity. I believe just the opposite. Although the food industry may be a
huge contributor to obesity in America, the citizens are to blame for their poor choices.
It may appear that junk food is simply unavoidable with all of the overwhelming, tempting ads
and products everywhere, but having self control is key in controlling obesity rates. People are
so quick to pick up something that looks good without even knowing about the deceiving looks
behind it. Food companies like McDonald s advertise foods such as the quarter pounder with
cheese and without a doubt most people would buy it, but when they break it down to just an
over salted slab of gray beef with high fructose corn syrup and a cheese product, all of a sudden it
becomes disgusting (Maiello). Americans need to learn how to read between the lines, they have
to know when they should have certain foods and how much of that food is ok for them, so instead
of buying those chips everyday at school, Americans should be

The Process Of Conducting Vulnerability Assessments And...
Abstract The purpose of this report is to explain the process of conducting vulnerability assessments
and modeling threats. Vulnerability assessments are conducted to keep organizations safe from
device and network vulnerabilities. There is a process that should be followed in order to perform a
proper vulnerability assessment, if it is followed properly the organization will eliminate most if not
all vulnerabilities from their network. Modeling threats is also an important step in creating a safe
computing environment. It is a way for organizations to classify threats to their network,
applications, and devices. Classifying the threats allows an organization act accordingly when it
comes to the threats that are present on their networks. All organizations should adopt some form of
vulnerability assessment and threat modeling, this will help protect the organizations reputation as
well as its data that resides and travels through the network.

Forced Labor Camps In Germany
In this research paper, I will explain the different aspects of slavery in the forced labor camps of
Germany in the late 30 s and early 40 s. Many different categories of labor camps were created
during the second World War in order to classify the inmates. These prisoners were not treated
the usual way an inmate might be treated. They would be forced to work in bad conditions with
limited access to sustenance. They were forced to work at an unrealistic pace and would be
killed if they were unable to keep up that rate. Many deaths were caused by these forced labor
camps which were directed and guided by the Nazis and, as the war continued, slave labor camp
procedures continued to increase which, as a result, brought many more deaths. During

Scrooge s life is vaguely going downhill in the story by his rudeness towards others and his need
for monetary gain. He realizes he is in a crisis to change his way of life, and if he does not he
will be sent to Hell. Whereas in Inferno, Dante s crisis is getting to heaven, but if he does not
change his way of life he will stay in Hell as he travels through it. He had a guide just as Scrooge
did to help see how their sins could end them in Hell. Each story shows how Scrooge and Dante
had strayed away from the simple, beaten path to Heaven. They both take the indirect path by
being shown the sins not to inherit. As Dante journeyed through Hell, he stopped in each level and
acknowledged each of the sinners stories. He learns that certain sins determined their level of hell
and punishment. Dante learns not to acquire these sins. Whereas in A Christmas Carol, Dickens
solely focuses on just Scrooge s sins, but he is shown by the ghosts how he became the man he was.
Lastly, Scrooge s friend, Jacob Marley had sent to him the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present,
and Future to help guide him through his expedition of his own life. Marley was Scrooge s only

Regarding The Topic Of Theism, One Must Take Into...
Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or
repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite
difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of
either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to
the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further
thought. On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theismhas
ingrained itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday
becoming a holy day and holidays... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in
order to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to
explaining the wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain
phenomenons such as miracles, personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using
it to justify science and laws of nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any
case, both modern and ancient believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and
to be aware of the realities beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus).
Indulging in theistic belief gives more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps
the common consensus of a widely accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further
solidifies these beliefs. Additionally, several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including
the argument from design and the ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical,
empirical, and moral considerations into thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet
there are corresponding rebuttals that raise skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in
The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a

life because he has live in the free north before so he knows what it like to be free from
segregation and have the same thing as white people. He knew what freedom mean and what he
talks in the television is true because he has experience freedom not like many people in the
south. After meeting with Thurgood Marshall, Beals knew that freedom will come to the people
that live in the south and she knew that integrate into Central High School will be the first step
for the people in the south to experience freedom. Beals want the reader to know the differences
between the people that have live in freedom for their entire life. The person that have live their
entire life with freedom show that he has no fear and speak with his mind. Thurgood Marshall
does not afraid of what the people think about the way he talks. Unlike Beals parent, who afraid of
the white people and afraid to talk against them. They think that the white people deserve
everything and they are afraid that if they talk back to those people they will get beaten or

What Are The Primary Reasons For The Fall Of Rome

The superpower of the Mediterranean world was the Roman Empire which lasted from 50 BCE to
200 CE. Rome became the center of one of the world s greatest empires around 750 BCE. It became
magnificent settlement with many wealthy people. Around 200 BCE Rome was transforming into
a enormous, expanding empire. Rome was expanding into foreign lands, officially enhancing a
powerhouse. The primary reasons for the fall of Rome were outside invasion(DC), corruption(DE),
and diseases(DF).
Outside invasion was one of the many reasons for the collapse of Rome. there were two groups
that invaded in Rome. One of the invaders were the Visigoths. The other one was Ostrogoths. The

Reflection Of Katrina And Federalism
Katrina and Federalism Reflection Essay
Before watching the video titled Federalism: Lessons of Katrina, I expected it to be about how the
government responded to hurricane Katrina. Not only was my assumption correct, I gained a better
understanding of federalism by observing how the local, state, and national levels of government
responded to one of the worst crises in American history. From my observation, it seemed that the
government on all levels failed to prepare, and then aid, the victims of the disaster. I think this
failure was caused by the lack of communication between the different levels of government and
could have been prevented had the governments worked together. In addition, I think the
government s failure to respond effectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During Katrina there were many times that the local, state, and federal governments did not
cooperate effectively. For example, the governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco, addressed the issue
her state faced and asked for everything the federal government had, as in disaster relief and aid,
but the ambiguity of the statement caused the federal government to withhold resources until the
governor addressed more specific needs. Issues such as these prevent the different levels of
government from cooperating in an effective manner and demonstrate one of the most significant
problems with federalism. Another example of how the different levels of government fail to
cooperate effectively is a statement by William Lokey from the federal government s disaster
relief agency, FEMA. During an interview with the press, Lokey tells the governor and the entire
nation that certain areas of Louisiana s coasts are safe and that flood waters are receding. The
statement made by Lokey misinformed the public and other levels of government, causing more
confusion and hindering relief

Analysis Of Homer s Snap The Whip
Snap the Whip is an oil painting on canvas, created by the American artist Winslow Homer.
Although the exact month and place where this art was created are unknown, it was made in 1987.
During the same year, this painting was created, there were important events in the history of the
United States. New York s Metropolitan Museum of Art opens (History). Victoria Woodhull
becomes 1st woman nominated for U.S. President (History). Britain pays U.S. $15 M for damages
during Civil War (History). It is an artwork that illustrates happiness of the children. In the painting,
eight children are holding hands while running. One child falls on the grass while another is
pulling a kid. The children are playing in the front yard of a redhouse. In the background, there are
a lot of trees and flowers. Homer painted a clear day with clouds and very blue sky. This setting
integrates well with the harmony of the painting.
In the painting Snap the Whip Homer used horizontal and vertical lines to create the house in the
background. He also used it to make the windows and doors by using medium thick lines. Homer
also used thin lines to create the wooden boards that make up the house. The colors that Homer
used to create this painting were earth tones such as blue, gray, green, red, yellow, white, and
brown. Homer painted the kids between green and brown to create more emphasis to their happy
faces. The house s an inorganic shape because it s geometric. The space in the painting is

Characteristics Of A Good Friend
A good friend Friendship is such a strong bond of relationship without which a person s life is an
execration. It is not hard for me to believe a person without a relative but it is hard for me to
even imagine of a person without any good friend. A good friend fill up the vacuum which no
family members can. No matter how close bond a person share with the family, there is always a
limit beyond which a person cannot express their thoughts or confess about their problems to
family members. A good friend remain unaffected by these limits and a person can pour their
heart out in front of them. A friend plays a very poignant role in a person s life. There are many
characteristics of a good friend. One of those characteristics is loyalty. A person can never be
considered a good friend if he or she is not loyal. That s the reason why a dog is considered to be
man s best friend. A good friend is someone who will remain loyal and stick with us even during
bad phase of our life. When a person is strike upon by adversity, disappointment surrounds from
all directions and darkness engulf a person s happy life then only a good friend comes as a ray
of hope to illuminate a person s life and rescue them from being drown in the calamity. For
example, during bad times, failure in exams, rejection in job, family problems, break up; a good
friend support us morally, physically and financially and help us to relive

they are checking out their environment. Dropping the feed afterwards doesn t help. They don t

President George Bush Essay
George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents,
he had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty third president of The United States.
Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of
being the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never
gave up on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when
George was only two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George s father, had just graduated
from Yale and wanted to attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of
Texas called Odessa, and though times were not always easy , it eventually became a... Show more

He became the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed drinking, playing
football, and dating. His grades were not his main priority (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21). Bush
admired his history professor Thomas T. Lyons at Yale. This admiration led George to major in
history. George had very little intellectual curiosity and was not interested in politics. However,
some of his classmates believe that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader
were pre political experiences. While he was a well known figure, there were many times he
faced conflicts at school for being a male cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for
the world of politics. Bush himself claims that his student activities qualified him for the White
House. After he attended Andover, he persistently demonstrated the same leadership: not a
powerful intellect or dazzling policy but rather an exceptional ability to make friends, work a
crowd, cheer people up and take them all in his direction (The New York Times Company). When
he was the governor of Texas, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans, and built
successful coalitions which led him to become a popular leader without becoming engaged in
policy details (The New York Times Company). George Bush, the forty first president, was
surprised to see his first born son become interested in politics,

The Collective Bargaining Process Of The Uaw
This report represents the analysis of the collective bargaining process of the UAW (known as the
CAW today) and GM (General Motors), presented in the film The Final Offer , 1985. Canada and
the United States were part of the negotiations with General motors to reconcile a bargaining
settlement in 1984. There was a compromise among labor and management that resulted to strike
throughout months of the negotiation process. Craig as well as Hebdon and Brown have framed 3
hypotheses that will concentrate on the economic situation, the consequences of strike, in addition
to, the community interests during bargaining and negotiations. The factors mentioned have been
founded by categorizing the actors, diverse environments, outputs and the conversion mechanisms.
Prior to analyzing the 3 hypotheses we should define the main actors that were a part of the
negotiations. Management part included Rod Andrew (Canadian GM negotiator) and Roger B
Smith (United States GM negotiator). Labor part included Owen Bieber (UAW agent), Buzz
Hargrove and Bob Nickerson (UAWC deputies), as well as, Robert White (UAWC director). Also,
the votes that powerfully counted were the Canadian plant legislators, therefore, based on that we
count them as actors. During 4 nerve wrecking months, there were comprehensive negotiations and
discussions among the management and labor to achieve a sensible understanding agreement
between the parties. The strike made an impact on the agreement, which made a great

Social networking was created to help us make new friends and stay in touch with old friends.
Unfortunately people have misused the site for numerous inappropriate needs but more
importantly people practice bad grammar and slang. With these careless behaviors this
generation and beyond will be underachievers. The author asked and important question he said,
are we really networking in a social sense, or are we just hiding behind our keyboards, and
building list of virtual friends rather than getting out there in the real world ?(Nickson1). We
have become mesmerized by technology and disconnected for reality. However if we keep up
this behavior socially we will never get ahead and we only have ourselves to blame. In
conclusion as a member of generation anti social slackers our goals of living the American
dream is inane but not impossible and our superficial values are promising although we value our
narcissistic attitudes it may sometimes get in the way of our goals. We have become so
disconnected from reality and allowed technology to effect our growth. What could we do to snap
out of these narcissistic, anti social unsuccessful trends? How can this generation transform from

Why Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged
Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home schooling is becoming an increasingly popular
choice of education for parents in the United States of America. Homeschooling refers to the
practice of parents educating a child at home, rather than in a conventional public or private school
setting (Hess and Okun). This can take the form of individual instruction by a single teacher at
home or in a small group setting with combined resources of teachers and materials. It was
estimated in a 1999 report by the U.S. Department of Educationthat more than 850,000 students
were being educated at home. This number was increasing at rate of 7 to 15 percent annually (Hess
and Okun). The numbers are increasing because of the advantages for home school students. In
order to promote individualized learning, creativity, and self confidence, home schooling should be
considered for more students. Home schooling promotes individualized learning. Individualized
learning is a learning environment where a student and a teacher have one on one teaching
situation. The teacher is able to focus on the individual student. This method is beneficial because
the instructor is able to focus and identify the student s strengths, weaknesses, and needs
immediately. This enables the student to know if he or she is on the right track in the learning
process. The student is better able to learn faster and cover more material. Another reason
individualized learning should be promoted is the student is able to have a more in depth
understanding of the content because it is tailored to the individual s learning styles. These learners
benefit because they are also able to get feedback as soon as the instructor examines the work. This
prevents the student from learning the subject incorrectly. Individualized learning is obviously an
advantage for home schooling students. The success of individualized learning is shown in that
some preliminary researcher suggests that children who are home schooled may outperform their
counterparts in public or private schools (Hess and Okun). When children are not in a classroom
full of other students, their creativity can flourish. Gillian Bowditch states that Home educated
children are invariably described as

Domestic Violence And Drugs And Crime
Violence and drugs are typical factors of a crime related lifestyle. Drug users may not take part in
legitimate economy and are exposed to situations that encourage crime so the odds and frequency
of association in illegal activity is increased ( Fact, 1994). Drugs effect the behavior of users and
often time generates violence and can snowball into many other poor decisions. In Centervale,
California, domestic violenceis not taken lightly. Independently, domestic violence is an extremely
serious matter but adding other violations to the list of charges, the offender is staring at a heavy
sentence. In this case, Abby and Bobby have been in trouble with the law and this incident outside
their home may be what puts them both away for a very long time.
My officer and I received a call to respond to a domestic abuse situation. When we arrived at the
scene, Abbey and Bobby appear to be having an altercation outside of their house. There is blood
trickling down the side of Abby s head that she seemed to be oblivious to, her speech is garbled,
and Bobby has scratches all over on his hands and face. With this incident continuing outside and
the physical evidence, it has granted probable cause for an arrest. Probable cause is defined as facts
and circumstances that would lead a reasonable person to believe that there is evidence of a crime
located at a particular place or on a person (Argosy University Online, 2017). Both Abby and Bobby
are subjected to several charges. One of the

What Is The Idea Of Voltaire
The Ideas of Voltaire
David Zakharian
9/24/2017
The Ideas of Voltaire The enlightenment can be described as an era where people took the ideas
and methods of the scientific revolution, and tired to see if there was a way to find the natural
laws that govern the universe and human society. People looked through a new lens and
questioned the basic presumptions of an idea to come to a better understanding of things. People
asked questions about why things functioned the way they do. Many philosophers attempted to
find the solutions of problems people faced by using reason. These thinkers tried to make life for
people in Europe better. They explored political representation, the natural rights of man, the ideals
of how to find a ruler, what limits rulers should have, the ideals of religion, and how society could
be beneficial for everybody. What happened was a progression of ideas during this period of time.
One major philosopher of this era includes Voltaire, his ideas included support of civil rights like
freedom of speech, disapproval of authority, opposition to the Church, and deism. His idea of
disapproval of authority stemmed from his distrust in democracy. In his opinion, a monarch
should be advised by wise and educated people to make decisions. During his time, most people
were uneducated and illiterate. That is why Voltaire dismissed the idea of democracy, his only
view of functioning government was based on educated and honest people. His model of an
ideal government would be an enlightened monarch that had philosophers as his advisors who
would counterbalance his desire for more power and wealth at the cost of society. Furthermore,
another belief he had was deism. This was associated with his disapproval of how corrupt
churches were. Voltaire considered churches to be hypocrites. For example, priests would take
vows of celibacy, but still give into their desires. Besides that, stealing is considered a sin. It was
common for clergy to use the ignorance and naivety of simple people to take their possessions.
Voltaire thought that clergy were unneeded, since they were corrupt along with royalty. He believed
a simple religion was much better, and thought that people should have the

Impact Of Privatization In Sri Lanka
Privatization policy was introduced in Sri Lanka in 1977. The great efforts were taken by the
government after privatization to reform economic policies including allowing private ownership in
the plantation sector, to open the country for foreign direct investment and promoting free trade
with other countries. Three major sectors of the Sri Lankan economysuch as agriculture sector,
industrial sector, and service sector were also subjected to economic reforms under this new trend.
Several studies have been conducted to evaluate the impacts of new economic policy in various
sectors of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka s agriculture export income mainly depends on Tea, Rubber and
Coconut plantations. Further, rice is cultivated as a stable crop of Sri Lanka. 27.1 percent
employment is occupied in Agriculture sector while agriculture sector contributes to 7.1 percent of
Gross Domestic Product of Sri Lanka.

Exceptional Students Served In Special Schools
I believe there are several reasons why twice exceptional students fail to be identified and served.
The first reason is because teachers are undertrained and do not know how to identify. Another
reason is that some talents are only seen at home or in non academic settings. The third reason is
many students with a learningdisability (identified or not) often get missed because the LD over
shadows the talents or the talents compensate for the LD and both go unidentified. The main reason
I think special educationand gifted education are mutually exclusive in many schoolis because many
people hold the belief that the two are serving different types of learners with different types of
needs. However, they actually share students.
I think

Persuasive Essay On Japanese American Internment
Would you want to be locked up in an internment camp for 3 years? Japanese Americans were
interned for 3 years and lost all of their possessions because of the potential threat they posed of
espionage and tyranny. Japanese Americans were put into internment camps out of an act of racism
by the U.S. people. Japanese Americans were legal citizens at birth. Under the constitution if they
were born in the U.S. than they were by law a legal citizen. They went to programs such as school
just like any other person and they were lawfully a citizen. They were having their rights violated
when the U.S. took the nearly 75,000 American born Japanese Americans to internment camps.

America took all of their stuff besides a few small belongings and forcibly moved all of them to
internment camps. That denies the constitution under the fourth amendment where it specifically
states, No belongings or personal items shall be taken or seized in any way without the proper
search warrant or reason to do so. The U.S. took the stuff of the Japanese Americans without the
proper warrants, so that makes another reason why it was unconstitutional for the U.S. to take the
stuff of the Japanese Americans. Although Japanese Americans rights were violated, people at
this time didn t know if they posed a potential threat to the U.S. or not. For all they knew the
Japanese Americans could have a secret organization dedicated to helping and coordinating
Japanese attacks. The hysteria was there at this time, so it may look like a bad thing now that
they got interned but people didn t know what they were or could be doing. Even though the rights
of Japanese Americans may look like they would have been violated, nowadays back then people
did not know what they were capable

  • 2. Selling A Home Is A Real Estate Agent Essay Selling a home can be a daunting task for a professional real estate agent. With property promotion, open houses and a fluctuating market, trial and error usually wins out over book knowledge and written rules. But, what about the homeowner who decides to sell their home without the help of a professional. Believe it or not, you may find some of your greatest help in comp homes. When placing your homeon the market for sale, you will inevitably look in your neighborhood for other comp homes also for sale. Competitively pricing your home will draw in potential buyers more quickly than pricing your home out of the range of other comp homes in the area. This pricing model only works if you can find a comp home in your neighborhood. But, how will you know if a home is comparable? Homeowners should always look at their rival competition for help in selling a home. Visiting the open houses of other homes in the area, or arranging for a walk through with the owners or real estateagent handling the sale, will help you to gauge the home s condition, in comparison to your home. This tactic is also helpful for homeowners selling a home without a real estate agent. Seeing how a real estate agent offers the information about the comp home, viewing the real estate agent s fliers and promotion sheets, as well as, seeing the changes or key points a real estate agent stresses during a walk through will help you to better understand how you should be handling those aspects of your sale. ... Catholic Faith In Schools Demonstrate a commitment to the ethos of the catholic faith and mission of the school I believe it is important to create an environment that children feel safe and comfortable to take risks with their learning. The catholic faith helps to create this type of inclusive classroom when reinforced throughout all curriculum areas and interactions with the students. When this is achieved, children will be able to develop into the best version of themselves. In order to create a safe classroom, I would be accepting of different cultures and beliefs of the students in my classroom. I would do this by including their beliefs in discussions about faith and spirituality. An Infinity Of Little Hours Summary In An Infinity of Little Hours: Five Young Men and Their Trial of Faith in the Western World s Most Austere Monastic Order, a novel written by Nancy Klein Maguire, readers are regaled with an extensive look at the life of mid twentieth century Carthusian monks, which as one would infer from the title, is quite ascetic. A rare look inside Parkminster, the Carthusian monastery referred to as a charterhouse, creates a unique opportunity for readers to gain great insight into the Carthusian Order. Maguire regales and educates readers with a nonfiction story about five Carthusian monks from the 1960 s. Readers learn how each man came to the monastery and what he left behind. The least helpful features of the book included the author s lack of clarity in characterization which could have been strengthened either by better character development or simply fewer characters and names to keep straight (the appendix at the close of the story was not an adequate solution), the dramatic shifts in point of view, and the occasionally overwhelming amount of detail provided. For the most part, remedying these faults, was the evidence employed by the author. Maguire seems to have done a brilliant job researching her subject, and it is clear to the readers that what is presented to them is, without a doubt, an accurate account of life within the walls of Parkminster. Under the pretenses that it was the author s goal to give readers that intimate look at the ascetic life of mid twentieth century Carthusian monks, it is clear that she achieved her goal. If readers are able to look past the confusion created by some of Maguire s stylistic choices and the many monks and their many names, then he or she will likely be quite pleased by the especially insightful, extraordinarily personal, and enormously in depth account of Carthusian monasticism provided by Nancy Klein Maguire in An Infinity of Little Hours: Five Young Men and Their Trial of Faith in the Western World s Most Austere Monastic ... • 8. An Invasive Point Of View Sophie Hamann BOT 1 Term Paper 11/7/14 An Invasive Point of View Day to day, we are faced with perpetual decisions based on practical criteria. They have become so engrained within our regular schedule that we may not even think about the consequences. The automatic movements that we go through each day usually don t require a major ethical decision. However, when they do, values, world views and personal interest are all considered. The decision making process is very often initiated with a world view, or with some sort of bias. The outcome is based on one s understanding of the facts, or even based on one s upbringing. Environmental ethics often come into play when considering invasive species. On a global scale, we live in a high array of technological advances in transportation. We are able to travel across vast distances that open pathways for ourselves and exotic plant hitch hikers. The more we travel, the more species we transport. The issue arises of whether or not this is a natural process in which nature should be able to take its course. When considering this, multiple perspectives are formed in the process. Some intend to take advantage of this resource, while others aim to eradicate the entire non native population. While many people understand that an invasive species has the potential of being harmful, they still intend to let nature run its course. Therefore, it is important to understand all perspectives that factor into the decision making process ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Summary Of Seamus Heaney s A Call Seamus Heaney s A Call explores the speaker s building contemplation of their father s mortality and the subsequent sense of adoration that the speaker experiences. Throughout their typical call home, the speaker s thoughts increasingly grow out of context, especially in regards to their father s mortality. After contemplating this mortality to a great extent, the speaker recognizes the eventual impact that their father s impending deathwill have on them. An unexpected focus on their father s mortality leads the speaker to experience intense lovefor their father during a seemingly casual phone call. As the speaker casually calls their parents, a setting of calm expectations is established. While greeting the speaker, the mother s decision to run out and get (1) the father highlights the lack of urgency that is present. The mother is calm and fetches the father in an expected and relaxed fashion, further establishing the calm expectations of the ongoing call. The mother additionally states that the weather here s so good (2). Heaney s use of the word good reflects the setting of the mother and father s home; the atmosphere of where they live is pleasant and unperturbed. The weather serves as a projection of the father s own state, implying that the father is in good health and that death is not yet looming over him. The last spoken words in the poem reveal that the father was conducting a bit of weeding (3). The word weeding highlights the capability of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States of America recorded a mortgage crisis since 2007. The financial sector issued out massive amounts of money to individuals to acquire homes. This was in line with government campaigns for equitable housing of US citizens in the United States. This led to an increase in loans offered to citizens to purchase homes, leading to an expansionary monetary policy. Though this strategy brought equity in home ownership, it also brought financial imbalance in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Inflation went up to 4% in 2007 and over 5% in 2008. However, the country tightened its monetary policy in 2009 leading to a reduction in inflation though minimal (U.S Government, 2011). This has also led to exportation of inflation and economic decline to other countries. Many countries rely on the United States economy for financial donations and aid as well as markets for their goods and services. The decline in economic performance in United States and the subsequent decline in its purchasing power reduced the level of donations and loans to other countries. Markets for foreign goods in the United States equally declined. Foreign Exchange Rate and Money Supply With the mortgage crisis recorded in the United States, the country s currency declined in value in respect to other world currencies. Increase in money supply led to an increase in the volume of money in circulation in the United States. This led to a rise in prices of goods. Because of this, the value of the dollar declined in the international money markets. The decline in value of the dollar led to imports becoming very expensive. This further reduced the country s production capability, leading to a further economic decline. A devalued currency makes a country s exports cheaper than those of other countries. • 12. A Romantic And Modernist Perspective Kyle D. Brubaker Dr. Vernooy ENG 237 01 11 December 2014 Memory: A Romantic and Modernist Perspective During an age when Britain was producing more writing than perhaps ever before in its history; romantic writers such as Wordsworth and Coleridge place a large emphasis on nature and what impact this construct has on the mind and imagination, while modernist writers such as Hardy, Lawrence, and Yeats attempt to exercise a strong break from tradition. This ideal of straying from the pack creates a sense of bitterness and radical doubt throughout the modernist period, and thus, causes citizens living in this time to carry about their daily activities with doubt and pessimistic attitudes. After examining the literary movements of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One can argue that William Wordsworthbelieves that memory can be utilized as an anecdote that is able to cure someone s pain, while a writer such as Thomas Hardy would disapprove of this Wordsworthian ideal by believing that memory is simply a shroud of gray (Vernooy). This claim can be supported as true when Wordsworth s Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey is examined more closely. Within this piece, Wordsworth states, These beauteous forms /Through a long absence, have not been to me/As is a landscape to a blind man s eye/But oft, in lonely rooms, and mid the din/Of towns and cities, I have owed to them/In hours of weariness, sensations sweet (Wordsworth 23 27). Here, Wordsworth provides a detailed description about how nature is able to provide a safe haven for him in a time when Britain s cities are looking to industrialize more than ever. By personifying nature during this time of economic crisis, Wordsworth is creating an outlet that aids him in moving forward. Conversely, Thomas Hardy encompasses the idea of nature and memory by almost insulting Wordsworth. For instance, Hardy would argue that one cannot sit on the couch and rekindle old memories in order to transgress, but instead, one needs to be out and about in order to gather as many physical memories as humanly possible. Within Hardy s Under the Waterfall, the female persona is attempting to rekindle one of her past memories, which as we all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Snow White Archetypes Taylia Terrell Mrs. Weiner English 4 13 September 2017 Hunting Down the Archetypes Archetypes play a big role in many books, short stories, TV shows, and movies. There are several different kinds of archetypes, but many of the same archetypes can be repeated throughout a storyline. An archetype could be a character, theme, symbol, or even a setting. Some examples of those include: The Bully (a character who intimidates others), White (a color that represents purity and peace), and The Garden (a setting in which fertility and love are symbolized). In Snow White and the Huntsman, many archetypes are brought to the viewer s attention. In the story that everyone knows, Snow White is the fairest of them all. She is pure, kind, innocent, and has good knowledge. All of those things fall under the White archetype. She also shows us the Battle between Good and Evil. Typically, good triumphs. This archetype is normally seen as light versus dark. Snow White is originally running from the Queen, and along the way she fights many obstacles, such as, the Queen s guards/armies. Eventually, she develops her own army and goes to fight Ravenna. Which brings me to the Light and Darkness Archetype: light is a symbol of hope and renewal whereas darkness symbolizes the unknown, ignorance, evil, and despair. Snow White is pure, honored, and gives an example of hope to reestablish her kingdom, while The Queen is anything but honored. The people of the kingdom resent her and the darkness that she displays. Last but not least, Snow White exhibits The Task archetype. In this archetype, the hero will save a kingdom and identify themselves so that she may assume her rightful position. • 14. Aristotle s Ideas Of Potential Infinity Aristotle supported the idea of potential infinity but refuted the idea of actual infinity . He defined potential infinity by saying if you are counting natural numbers, logic would tell us that we can always add one to the previous number and that can potentially go on forever. He also said that we could potentially use this logic in geometry if we imagined a line that extended beyond both points with no recognizable end. On the contrary, actual infinityseems paradoxical because even if we had an infinite number of things in a category then infinity would still be whole in a sense with a beginning and an end. Aristotle s ideas were supported for many centuries ( Aristotle , n.d.). The philosopher Zeno of Elea (495 435 B.C.E.) came up with the idea of infinite divisibility . The basic concept of the theory was that you could take any object, cut it in half, cut those halves in half, and so on until you reached the end of the divisibility process and were left with only particles, or elements as he called them. The first conclusion he drew from this theory was that the elements were essentially nothing, which meant that the sum of all the pieces made the whole object nothing. From this, he was able to draw much inspiration and opportunities to study in a well reputed art schools, which were located in Barcelona and Madrid. At the beginning, he did not have a definite direction in relation to his style; hence, experimented on a lot of techniques and forms. He joined a number of other young artists, authors and architects that took the direction of contemporary art in their work. The formative years of his career ended in 1901 (Fandel, Picasso, 2006). The group brought together a number of writers and artists well known as modernistes (Klein, 2010). Their art assimilated modern trends in art like symbolism. It also evoked the mood and atmosphere rather than the traditional literal description. With regard to poster design, graphic arts and illustration, their art followed the art nouveau from French, which was characterized by artificial colors, twisting contour lines and simplified shapes (Fandel, Picasso, 2006). By the early 1900, Pablo and his colleagues art had moved further to place emphasis on social causes and political anarchy. For instance, Pablo s work showed sympathy for the poor in urban areas like Barcelona and Paris. The artist had traveled to Paris for a number of times in the 1900 before he finally decided to permanently settle four years later (Art in Action, n.d). Most of his fellow young artists also moved to the same capital where their works were displayed in salons and galleries. Pablo s personal style was a combination of several techniques and styles that he had previously drawn influences from. For instance, it introduced bright and pure colors with one of the major subjects being scenes of nightlife in Paris and an image of Manach Pere, one of the greatest promoters of Pablo s work at ... The drama series about people stranded on an island after a plane crash, had elements of science fiction that J.J Abrams used to captivate millions every episode. The series starts by introducing the main characters, Jack and Kate, and their personal backgrounds leading up to the commercial plane crash. However, as the series progresses, characters once believed to have little impact in the show, are highlighted in a single episode and shed light on topics never previously thought about. The 23rd Psalm, the tenth episode in season two, demonstrates this aspect of the series very well. The science fiction characteristic of the series is toned down to bring attention to the drug trading in Africa, specifically Nigeria. The 23rd Psalm attempts to inform people around the world how organized crime in Nigeria has affected the lives of many who live there, what they have to do to survive, and the sphere of influence drug trafficking has around the world. The episode begins with Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje) finding out that Charlie Pace(Dominic Monaghan) has in his possession a Virgin Mary statue. Eko demands to see the statue only to break in open and revealing the heroininside. Eko then demands that Charlie take him to the location where he found the statue, which happens to be a small plane crash site farther inland on the island. In My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, the speaker is a Duke who is looking at a painting of his last (now deceased) Duchess and remembering her. She blushed easily and enjoyed looking at things, so in his mind she was a bit promiscuous. He thought his wife unfaithful basically because she was polite. That is how Neil Armstrong characterized his first steps on the moon. Or perhaps, his first steps across a stage, in front of a film crew. That line sounds an awful lot like a good movie line after all. Whether or not the U.S.A. has ever actually reached the moon is a hot topic that has been debated for decades, and for good reason. The space race was so much more than a scientific expedition, it was a battle of a communist way of life versus a democratic one. That is why when the astronauts arrived, it was paramount that an American flag be planted in order to assert dominance over the soviets, and the world. On May 25th of 1961, President J.F.K. made it the public goal of the United States to successfully send a man to the moon and to bring him home safely. It was then, according to some scientists, that N.A.S.A. adopted a policy of, If you can t make it, fake it (Moffet). The space program tried, and failed, for 9 years trying to achieve this goal before having to resort to plan B. The men and women of the U.S. were in a frenzy over communism throughout the 1950 s and 60 s. Simply being accused of being a communist could ruin someone s social life and career in an instant. During this so called Red Scare senator Joseph R. Mccarthy of Wisconsin become infamous for accusing anyone of being a communist on loose evidence or a whim. He took down actors, authors, politicians, physicists, singers, athletes, and anybody else who stood in his way. He was eventually called out for his tactics, publicly condemned, and spiraled into alcoholism ( Joseph McCarthy Meets ). But, the damage had been done. Behind the moon landing, the second most important date in the space race was October 4th, 1957. That was the day that Sputnik launched from the Soviet Union. Sputnik was the first satellite to ever orbit Earth. Americans were terrified and the New York Times had to print a story assuring the public that it was incapable of dropping bombs on us (Moffet). It is not that any of the other social issues do not matter, but without a world to live on, or an environment to live off of those other issues would not even be taking place. Our environmenthas been something that we neglect and carelessly use for our own personal economic growth because it is what has been done for many years. We are destroying our world s land and using up its natural resources and are even wasting them without concern about what consequences are resulting from doing so. There are ways that we could fix and eliminate problems that we have caused to our environment, but in order to do so we will have come together and put in the effort to make the change and become more environmentally conscious in the aspects of our everyday lifestyles. Much of our world s land is destroyed to provide for our growing population through the occurrence of deforestation which causes loss of biodiversity and soil depletion. There are natural causes of deforestation such as wildfires, but most of it occurs through urban development and most notably agricultural development. Through his vivid use of lyrical language and allusions, Keats s is able to depict vivid images that haunt the soul and is able to convey his message that the only way to deal with a sense of melancholy is to accept it. Keats believes that once one can accept sadness and make it a part of his identity, then he can overcome the overwhelming feelings of depression and find true happiness in life. By absorbing the sadness and drowning it out with thoughts of happiness, such as gazing upon her peerless eyes , one can find happiness once again. The third stanza begins with Keats addressing the mistress as she Dwells with beauty beauty that must die . Continuing with the metaphor of the mistress and the feeling of sadness, Keats says that beauty must die. By saying that the mistress is beautiful, Keats is implying that sadness and happiness are linked. The happiness, which is the beauty of the mistress, in life is evanescent and continuously leaving. Mill argues that if an object or action has potential for harm but also the potential to accomplish an outcome other than harm, then that event or object should not be forcibly regulated or restricted. He uses an example of a person crossing a dangerous bridge as support to his argument. Assuming that this individual is in a reasonable mental state, the individual should only be warned of the danger of crossing the bridge but not forcibly restricted from crossing. In the movie, Titanic, director James Cameron used a few important actual events that occurred in the history of The Titanic. However, there are some things that were only added for detail, entertainment, and action in film. Real life survivors from the ship s sinking report what is valid and incorrect in the movie. Many things in the movie, Titanic, actually happened in the actual event. One similarity is when The Titanic s band continued to play as the ship went under. The lead violinist realized the chaos around him and started playing, soon to be joined by his band members. An article on the Titanic says, After the ship struck an iceberg, Wallace Hartley assembled his eight man band, and they eventually ended up on the Boat Deck near the entrance to the Grand Staircase. There, they played ragtime and waltzes. ( Questioning The Story ). This is reported by survivors to be a valid occurrence in the sinking of the Titanic. Others, like Jonathan Collett, gather the idea that Eve s scene at the pool is simply a biblical form of the Narcissus myth. The myth of Narcissus, written by Ovid, is the tale of a hero whose self love gradually brought him to his death. Although Eve s memorization of herself at the pool did not ultimately take her life, there are many similarities which tie Eve s scene at the pool and the myth of Narcissus together. Men had more social and political freedom comparing to women, and the system was organized on men. It took a really long time for women to gain at least some equality. In the book Dangerous Liaisons by Pierre Ambroise Laclos there are many examples of women having much less rights comparing to men in the 18th century. Back then, women simply couldn t do what men could simply because they were women and they weren t considered as powerful as men were. So the author can also hide Cecile s true feeling because she doesn t want everyone to know that she was raped. This would make her life in the future miserable, because none of the men would want to marry her, since back then men wanted to have pure wives. Another part of this argument is that Valmont said that since he had the key to Cecile s room, people would believe him rather then her. Cecile states that in the letter to Madame de Merteuil: ...he was careful to tell me that, if anyone came, he would know how to put all the blame on me; and, indeed, it was very easy, because of the key. That could be true the people would believe Valmont rather than Cecile because of the key, but Cecile could have also brought up that she gave him the key because she wanted him to bring the letters from Danceny, since Cecile s mother already knew that Cecile was writing to Danceny before. This could have saved her from the rape from Valmont. But because she didn t not do that, I do not believe that the scene with Valmont seduction of Cecile, could be considered as rape. This can also be showed how women had much less rights because people were more likely believe Valmont rather than Cecile if something was to come up about that seduction. Cecile wasn t able to share it with anyone except for Madame de Merteuil because she knew she basically had no rights and her life would be over. Americans nowadays cannot control themselves when it comes to fast food or simply just junk food in general. With that being said, who really is there to blame? Most might blame the foodindustries for the recent increase in obesity. I believe just the opposite. Many deaths were caused by these forced labor camps which were directed and guided by the Nazis and, as the war continued, slave labor camp procedures continued to increase which, as a result, brought many more deaths. They both have very distinct similarities as well as differences. Although both have diverse layouts, the deeper you look into its intellectual properties you can find surprising similarities. A confusion may overcome you as you look at this and think how could you possibly compare Inferno to A Christmas Carol? They were not easy to find, but if you look deep enough into something you can certainly surprise yourself. In each story, there are three parts to Dante and Scrooge s journey. In Inferno, the main divisions of divine comedy are: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. Dante goes through the inferno,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scrooge s life is vaguely going downhill in the story by his rudeness towards others and his need for monetary gain. He realizes he is in a crisis to change his way of life, and if he does not he will be sent to Hell. Whereas in Inferno, Dante s crisis is getting to heaven, but if he does not change his way of life he will stay in Hell as he travels through it. He had a guide just as Scrooge did to help see how their sins could end them in Hell. Each story shows how Scrooge and Dante had strayed away from the simple, beaten path to Heaven. They both take the indirect path by being shown the sins not to inherit. As Dante journeyed through Hell, he stopped in each level and acknowledged each of the sinners stories. He learns that certain sins determined their level of hell and punishment. Dante learns not to acquire these sins. Whereas in A Christmas Carol, Dickens solely focuses on just Scrooge s sins, but he is shown by the ghosts how he became the man he was. Lastly, Scrooge s friend, Jacob Marley had sent to him the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future to help guide him through his expedition of his own life. Marley was Scrooge s only friend during his younger years and all the way up to the end of Marley s life. Similar to Dante s lover, Beatrice who had sent Virgil to help mentor Dante through Hell. • 39. Regarding The Topic Of Theism, One Must Take Into... Regarding the topic of theism, one must take into consideration several factors when justifying or repudiating its reasonableness due to its subjective and therefore controversial nature, it is quite difficult to say precisely whether theism is justified or otherwise. Personally, I am not convinced of either position yet, and as a recently converted Christian (in other words, I am still relatively new to the ideals surrounding western theology) both arguments seem plausible and require further thought. On one hand, theistic belief has existed for centuries upon centuries for so long, theismhas ingrained itself into the cultures and lifestyles of those who believe in a higher power, with Sunday becoming a holy day and holidays... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humanity has a clear desire to understand and have answers, and perhaps they turn to theism in order to justify these ideas in which case, theism is perfectly justified. It yields its purpose to explaining the wonders of the world. Today, individuals use theistic beliefs to explain phenomenons such as miracles, personal revelations, and supernatural concepts rather than using it to justify science and laws of nature as their ancient ancestors may have done. However, in any case, both modern and ancient believers seek to know, and to live, beneath the surfaces of life, and to be aware of the realities beneath the superficialities (Robertson Davies, The Lyre of Orpheus). Indulging in theistic belief gives more meaning to life for these particular individuals, and perhaps the common consensus of a widely accepted faith an organized religion and place of worship further solidifies these beliefs. Additionally, several arguments exist in order to justify theism, including the argument from design and the ontological, cosmological, moral arguments. Taking logical, empirical, and moral considerations into thought, the philosophical justification of theism holds; yet there are corresponding rebuttals that raise skepticism within my scientific self. For example, in The Analogy of the Watch by William Paley, a hypothetical situation arises in which one finds a pocket watch in the middle of the woods upon its discovery, one would figure that the laws ... Reflection Of Katrina And Federalism Katrina and Federalism Reflection Essay Before watching the video titled Federalism: Lessons of Katrina, I expected it to be about how the government responded to hurricane Katrina. Not only was my assumption correct, I gained a better understanding of federalism by observing how the local, state, and national levels of government responded to one of the worst crises in American history. From my observation, it seemed that the government on all levels failed to prepare, and then aid, the victims of the disaster. I think this failure was caused by the lack of communication between the different levels of government and could have been prevented had the governments worked together. For example, the governor of Louisiana, Kathleen Blanco, addressed the issue her state faced and asked for everything the federal government had, as in disaster relief and aid, but the ambiguity of the statement caused the federal government to withhold resources until the governor addressed more specific needs. Issues such as these prevent the different levels of government from cooperating in an effective manner and demonstrate one of the most significant problems with federalism. Another example of how the different levels of government fail to cooperate effectively is a statement by William Lokey from the federal government s disaster relief agency, FEMA. The children are playing in the front yard of a redhouse. In the background, there are a lot of trees and flowers. Homer painted a clear day with clouds and very blue sky. This setting integrates well with the harmony of the painting. In the painting Snap the Whip Homer used horizontal and vertical lines to create the house in the background. He also used it to make the windows and doors by using medium thick lines. Homer also used thin lines to create the wooden boards that make up the house. The colors that Homer used to create this painting were earth tones such as blue, gray, green, red, yellow, white, and brown. The Collective Bargaining Process Of The Uaw This report represents the analysis of the collective bargaining process of the UAW (known as the CAW today) and GM (General Motors), presented in the film The Final Offer , 1985. Canada and the United States were part of the negotiations with General motors to reconcile a bargaining settlement in 1984. There was a compromise among labor and management that resulted to strike throughout months of the negotiation process. Craig as well as Hebdon and Brown have framed 3 hypotheses that will concentrate on the economic situation, the consequences of strike, in addition to, the community interests during bargaining and negotiations. The factors mentioned have been founded by categorizing the actors, diverse environments, outputs and the conversion mechanisms. Prior to analyzing the 3 hypotheses we should define the main actors that were a part of the negotiations. Management part included Rod Andrew (Canadian GM negotiator) and Roger B Smith (United States GM negotiator). Labor part included Owen Bieber (UAW agent), Buzz Hargrove and Bob Nickerson (UAWC deputies), as well as, Robert White (UAWC director). • 51. Why Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home Schooling Should Be Encouraged Home schooling is becoming an increasingly popular choice of education for parents in the United States of America. Homeschooling refers to the practice of parents educating a child at home, rather than in a conventional public or private school setting (Hess and Okun). This can take the form of individual instruction by a single teacher at home or in a small group setting with combined resources of teachers and materials. It was estimated in a 1999 report by the U.S. Department of Educationthat more than 850,000 students were being educated at home. This number was increasing at rate of 7 to 15 percent annually (Hess and Okun). The numbers are increasing because of the advantages for home school students. In order to promote individualized learning, creativity, and self confidence, home schooling should be considered for more students. Home schooling promotes individualized learning. Individualized learning is a learning environment where a student and a teacher have one on one teaching situation. The teacher is able to focus on the individual student. This method is beneficial because the instructor is able to focus and identify the student s strengths, weaknesses, and needs immediately. This enables the student to know if he or she is on the right track in the learning process. The student is better able to learn faster and cover more material. Another reason individualized learning should be promoted is the student is able to have a more in depth understanding of the content because it is tailored to the individual s learning styles. These learners benefit because they are also able to get feedback as soon as the instructor examines the work. This prevents the student from learning the subject incorrectly. Individualized learning is obviously an advantage for home schooling students. The success of individualized learning is shown in that some preliminary researcher suggests that children who are home schooled may outperform their counterparts in public or private schools (Hess and Okun). When children are not in a classroom full of other students, their creativity can flourish. Gillian Bowditch states that Home educated children are invariably described as ... • 53. What Is The Idea Of Voltaire The Ideas of Voltaire David Zakharian 9/24/2017 The Ideas of Voltaire The enlightenment can be described as an era where people took the ideas and methods of the scientific revolution, and tired to see if there was a way to find the natural laws that govern the universe and human society. People looked through a new lens and questioned the basic presumptions of an idea to come to a better understanding of things. People asked questions about why things functioned the way they do. Many philosophers attempted to find the solutions of problems people faced by using reason. These thinkers tried to make life for people in Europe better. They explored political representation, the natural rights of man, the ideals of how to find a ruler, what limits rulers should have, the ideals of religion, and how society could be beneficial for everybody. What happened was a progression of ideas during this period of time. One major philosopher of this era includes Voltaire, his ideas included support of civil rights like freedom of speech, disapproval of authority, opposition to the Church, and deism. His idea of disapproval of authority stemmed from his distrust in democracy. In his opinion, a monarch should be advised by wise and educated people to make decisions. During his time, most people were uneducated and illiterate. That is why Voltaire dismissed the idea of democracy, his only view of functioning government was based on educated and honest people. His model of an ideal government would be an enlightened monarch that had philosophers as his advisors who would counterbalance his desire for more power and wealth at the cost of society. Furthermore, another belief he had was deism. This was associated with his disapproval of how corrupt churches were. Voltaire considered churches to be hypocrites. For example, priests would take vows of celibacy, but still give into their desires. Besides that, stealing is considered a sin. It was common for clergy to use the ignorance and naivety of simple people to take their possessions. Voltaire thought that clergy were unneeded, since they were corrupt along with royalty.
