Secret Window For Mise En Scene Analysis
Analysing a five minute clip of Secret Window for Mise en Scene and Performance
The first thirty seconds of this clip are of the main character, Mort Rainey in his car. The first
thing we see is the book in his hands, the depth of focus changes as he runs his finger across the
stubs of pages. The focus changes as the character makes a discovery, this could be to emphasise
to the audience how important this discovery might come to be. Then we are shown the character
himself, the only thing slightly obscuring our view of him is the steering wheel, this adds to the
creation of the setting. The symbolic idea behind having the character in his car at this particular
moment, could be to show that he is still discovering things, he hasn t got all of the answers yet,
but he s well on his way.
The actor, Johnny Depp, shows the expression of surprise on the character s ... Show more content

The smart hat is at odds with his unkept appearance and he looks even stranger and more insane
with the hat on. The character quickly stands up and we see his reflection in the mirror. His face
is again almost completely black and you cannot make out his face, he could be anyone stood there.
The fact that his face is obscured is significant, because the character is in the middles of doubting
his own identity.
As Mort Rainey steps towards the mirror, the camera zooms in and shows his face in much more
clarity, this may be an indication of the character s own clarity as to who he is, although it is
more likely, since we are only seeing his reflection, that it is symbolic of the character seeing
himself more clearly, not total clarity. Again, we hear the character talking to his own thoughts,
this along with the way he s playing with the rim of the hat and the way his face seems to indicate
he feels comfortable in the hat, makes the character seem darker and even more

Exploring The Traditional Chinese Culture
Exploring Traditional Chinese Culture
China is one of the oldest civilizations on the planet, records of Chinese civilization dates back to
around 1766 B.C.E. China is located in eastern Asia along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. With
approximately 3.7 million square miles, China is the fourth largest nation in the world. In the west,
the area consists of mountains, high levels, and desert. The eastern areas are described by fields,
deltas, and hills, the highest point being the largest mountain in the world; Mount Everest. China is
also the most populous country on earth. The assessed population in 2014 was 1.36 billion people,
which is more than one fifth of the world s populace. (Central Intelligence Agency, 2016) Of these
individuals, 92 percent are Han Chinese; the remaining 8 percent are individuals of Zhuang,
Uyghur, Hui, Yi, Tibetan, Miao, Manchu, Mongol, Buyi, Korean, and different nationalities.
Mandarin Chinese is the official language. However, China is also home to several other languages
including Cantonese, Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, Zhuang, English, and Portuguese.

Relationships Traditional Chinese culture discouraged any intimacy between unmarried couples, as
well as public display of affection between boys and girls. However, over time China has become
more accustomed to the idea of dating and premarital sex. According to a survey, one third of urban
youth thought premarital sex should be condoned by society and that

The Girl Scout Way
1) Our goal throughout our project was to address the lack of enthusiasm with helping others. We
selected to tackle this issue so that we could help those who are less fortunate as well as so that we
can be a model to all who look up to us.
2) At our schools, a program had been established that introduced volunteering to teens. This
program was implemented to bring awareness to the scarcity in the number of volunteers. This
program gives students opportunities to help those who need it. Recently, our community held a
fundraiser to find the cure for cancer. This fundraiser had been held every year for a long time.

Mandate Of Heaven Essay
The influence that the Mandate of Heaven and the Dynastic cycle had upon Chinese politics was
that it dictated the ruling of Chinese emperors during the time. The Mandate of Heaven asserted
that only one dynasty can rule at a time. While the Dynastic cycle was a series of historic periods

King Narmer s Second Dynasty
On a cultural, economic and political level, Egypt has been largely shaped by the idiosyncrasies of
its various rulers. Egypt s first leap towards becoming an advanced civilisation began with King
Narmer s unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. Although the first 200 years of Egypt s unification
do not appear to have been peaceful, cultural development accelerated ahead during the early
dynasties. The tensions between the North and South throughout Egypts second dynasty continued
to grow until Khasekhemwy s ascension to the throne. As the last King of the Second Dynasty, he
is widely recognised as the King that resolved the conflict between the two sides, however, how
this was achieved is not known. The beginning of the third dynasty started with his son, Djoser,
who now ruled over a politically stable Egypt. Egyptian society advanced significantly under...

The validity of Narmer s pharaonic title is supported by the seal impressions found in the
Abydos tombs which have provided an ancient list of Kings, of which Narmer is recorded as a
pharaoh. His rule was further consolidated by his marriage with Neithhotep, a supposed Lower
Egyptian Princess, as suggested by Sir Flinders Petrie. Egyptian culture has not only benefited from
the Unification, rather the economy as well. Narmer s name has been found outside Egypt, in Syria
Palestine which indicates that some form of contact and active trade was present between Egypt
and parts of the Ancient Near East, and thus creating trade links bettering Egypt s future economic
prospects. As a result of the accelerated cultural development brought upon by Narmer s unification
of Upper and Lower Egypt, handicrafts, mason s skills, architecture, burial customs , writing art,
bureaucracy and politics have improved dramatically. In terms of writing art and iconography, the
reign of Narmer illustrates the transition between old and new systems of royal iconography. On an

Jacksonian Era Essay
The Jacksonian Era (1824 1848)
Although the Age of Jackson wasn t a time era, which brought forth a great political, social, or
economic freedom and equality to the U.S., it did in fact put our country through a metamorphosis
in our political lives of the nation. The start of a new presidency (Jackson s presidency) was
accompanied by huge numbers of Hickoryites (Jacksonian supporters) and official hopefuls. Many
of these hopefuls were granted their desire of holding office, which is one of the changes brought
into Washington by Andrew Jackson.
The major accomplishments of Jackson during his presidency pertain to his rural upbringing and
democratic beliefs. To name a couple of Jackson s memorable accomplishments and decisions not

The selection of officials of Jackson was in many cases the return of a financial grant during
campaigning. The consideration of the ability to govern, have intelligence and responsibility etc.
were ignored in the wake of compensation. Although opposites alike were granted power they were
not always for the continuance of democracy.
Jackson was the most democratic of any president at that time to come to power. In practically all
areas of political application there was the existence of liberal thinking. This was especially
apparent in his previously mentioned appointment of officials. Jackson considered the roles of
officials fairly simple and could and should be carried out by all people not just the members of
the socially and intellectually elite. The belief of complete equality is with out a doubt Jacksonian.
Despite this already democratic view, Jackson took it one step further and appointed the illiterate
and plain incompetent members of society to office.
Tariffs plagued the president also many times, but the most remembered were the Tariff of
Abominations in 1828, and the tariff of 1832. South Carolina passed an Ordinance of Nullification,
and upset Jackson tremendously. They stated that those tariffs were null and void to South
Carolina, and it would be unlawful to collect for duties. They also had the nerve to warn the

Race And Ethnic Stratification Research Paper
Essay 2: Race and Ethnic Stratification Research Paper
In 1957, Malaysia became an independent country and in 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson
signed the Civil Rights Act. Within seven years, the two countries underwent critical
transformations from a history of systematic oppression to new freedoms. Both the United States
and Malaysia are comprised of multiple ethnicities, races, and dynamics that define their social and
economic relationships. Because of the timing of social and economic change, residual effects of
oppression influence the ability of both countries to lessen racial and ethnic inequalities. However,
similarities between racial and ethnic dynamics in the two countries end there. After independence,
Malaysian society was able to progress in a way that significantly reduced socioeconomic
stratification, while in the U.S., the progress was less notable. Much of this discrepancy is due to
the differences between ethnicity and race: in Malaysia, ethnic differences are complex and subtle,
making them easier to ignore or forget; in the U.S., racial distinctions are often as clear and rigid
as the difference between black and white, making significant and lasting progress more difficult to
achieve.
A number of reasons for this contrast between Malaysia and the U.S. will be discussed. For one
thing, the conditions succeeding from the U.S. racial climate did not favor African Americans in
terms of employment and status, whereas in Malaysia, independence had a

Industrial Culture And The Cultural Industries
1.Introduction
Nowadays, with the continuous development of social economy, the traditional industries of
economic growth begins to decline, in many countries around the world, cultural industries has
become the core of economic activities (Hesmondhalgh,2013). Naisbitt (1996) claims that the
industrial culture and the cultural industries are the two major trends of economic restructuring in
the future. The media industry as the core of the cultural industries was placed on prime location. It
is difficult to provide a perfect definition for this new product, however, Hilmes (2009) points out
this includes massive specific elements such as print, sound, screen, and digital bits in space
corporate communications, advertising, websites, novels, films, recordings, and music being
shared person to person on the internet. Media industry as a new term was mentioned in the 1930s
and 1940s.The media industry has continued vitality. For example, a program that began in 1937 on
daytime radio, still broadcasts on television today. From an industries approach to the critical study
of media, media industry has the close connection with other traditional industries, such as how to
come together people s interests from the efforts around the goods production or services, it also
has commercial propose making profit (Hilmes,2009).But for media industry, it still has some
special features which are distinctive from other industries. It can be argued that the media

Advantages And Objectives Of BYOD
Bring Your Own Device:
In today s world BYOD (Bring your own device), play a crucial role as it allows millions of
employees to bring their own smartphones and laptop to their work place which in return allow
them to work and connect to the company network. This is relatively a new approach to
technology. We have both advantages and disadvantages in using BYOD process.
BYOD Advantages:
пѓ The first greatest advantage is it improves the productivity.
пѓ Also it helps employees to work anytime they wish for as they have company network access to
their smartphones or laptops.
пѓ Another benefit is it also improves employee morale. There will be great employee job
satisfaction with BYOD as they use their own device rather than given by IT team.

All the businesses which hold BYOD policies should have additional security measures in order to
protect them from cybercriminals and finally ensure that the network is free. There is great amount
of pressure on IT department as every employee hold different varieties of devices and should
ensure that device is meeting all the security standards.
BYOD Policies:
In order to protect the company from various security issues companies have certain policies. The
following are the effective BYOD policies:
пѓ The company has to specify to which device and operating system they are supporting.
пѓ Third party applications should to banned that cause additional security issues.
пѓ Providing password protected facility for all the devices for additional security.
пѓ Explaining the employees in detail to which functions like email access, word documents etc.,
they have access from their mobile devices.
Ways to keep company s data secure in a BYOD environment: Every employee has to sign the

After the stock market crash, known as Black Tuesday, in 1929, people panicked. As too much
money was withdrawn from banks and they closed, people lost all their money. America, which
was just in the Roaring Twenties , fell into the Great Depression. Suddenly, people were laid off
their jobs, couldn t buy things they had once not thought twice about, and struggled to afford food
for their families. People lost their homes, and teenagers lived on the streets. Farmers were in
debt, losing their farms, and had to deal with the Dust Bowl. The president at the time, Herbert
Hoover, decided that the country would pull out of the Depression on their own. Since the citizens

Ethical Framework In Teleological Framework
A case study was done on the closing of a textile manufacturing company in North Carolina, which
decided to relocate the business to another country. The decision to transfer was based on the fact
that the company would generate more revenue at a lower cost. However, the proponents of such a
move were based on an ethical teleological framework decision. However, an ethical leader has
certain qualities that are needed to build trust and develop sustainable relationships amongst
numerous stakeholders (Eisenbeils Brodbeck, 2014). According to the reading in Unit V, the
proponents and decision to move the textile company to Southeast Asia are based on the
teleological framework.
Also, to understand why this move is considered to be ethical, we must look at the meaning of
teleological framework. Teleological is based on one s consequences of action; nevertheless, these
results of interests are those that affect the individuals directly. Additionally, teleological ethics
determines the value of a moral action or a moral life result from that action or life; consequently,
philosophies within teleological ethics are also known as consequentialist ethical theories (Kocyigit
Karadag, 2016). Further, the leader is also in favor of utilitarianism, whereas they can find
themselves confronting undecidable dilemmas for which making a particular decision becomes
almost random (Farmer, 2015). Although, moving to Southeast Asia can be seen as a good and
assessable magnitude,

Adoption Causes Grief By Haley Peck
Adoption Causes Grief
Haley Peck
Caledonia Mumford High School
Abstract
An unborn child stays in their mother s womb for approximately 9 months. During that time, they
make an unbreakable connection with each other. When adoption takes place at any age of the
adoptees life, it is difficult for both the mother and child. When infants are abandoned, or feel that
they are being abandoned, it causes them to grow up with many unresolved issues. This is
because the first thing they learn about life is that it is lonely and hostile, unlike their mother s
womb. This can cause adoptees to grow up with many psychological issues and the major one is
grief. They grieve the loss of their birth mother and the life that they could have lived. No matter
how dedicated an adoptive mother is, she can never fill that void.
Discussion
Adoption is an amazing process and it is strongly encouraged in our country. However, adoptees
face several psychological issues, including grief. The biological mother and child have a very
strong bond and, when broken, it leaves the child with many unresolved issues. When the baby is in
the fetal stage, the mother is the whole world for the baby and completely supports the fetus. After
the baby is born, maintaining that connection is needed for the infant to feel a sense of well being
and wholeness. Following an adoption, the infant often feels helpless, empty, hopeless, and alone.
This is because the baby is missing something which is

Should Bartenders Be Held Responsible For Their Positions
What is a bartender? Merriam Webster states it s a person who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks
at a bar. Nowhere in the definition does it say, Attend to behavior , or, Watch for drunken
disorder. Bartenders are those that fill orders of patrons at a bar itself or are given a beverage order
by a waiter or a waitress that he or she will pick up and serve to the patron. (Benson, Beth). Being
a bartender takes patience, and a great deal of responsibility. A job is a job no matter what the
job is. If he or she is hired for a position, he or she is obligated to do what is required of the
position. Bartenders should not be held responsible for the behavior of their patrons. Despite the
fact that patron s feel that bartenders are there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In many cases, when a bartender refuses to serve a patron who is under the influence, it
becomes a problem and they get offended. (Killgannon, Corey). Patrons start to become irate,
and not aware of their behavior. In most states, bartenders are required by law to cut you off if
you ve had too much to drink....you re having trouble walking, talking or even just sitting there.
(Bailey, Kristen). In addition to bartenders not being compensated to babysit adults, but rather
bartend, patrons should be aware of his or her drinking limits. A countless number of people
may blame their drunken state on the bartender who shoved drinks down their throats, however,
that does not happen. Bartenders do not force drinks on people, only provide what is asked.
Some may order drinks one by one; on the other hand, one may order drinks all at one time. It is
a case by case basis if the bartender will provide a patron with more than one drink at a time.
Your body puts out serious and obvious warning signs after that amount of alcohol has been
consumed, such as passing out and vomiting. (Wagner, Tom). Many bartenders assume orders
placed for more than one drink are for the patron s party and not for that patron alone. Bartenders
will not guess how much alcohol a patron has already had when they go to the bar. Majority of
bartenders will server his customer as if he has not had anything to drink, besides what he has put

Visual Media s Influence on Society
Information is easily accessible to Americans through the media. Americans can get this
information from print, audio, visual, and online. For eight to eighteen year olds, media in some

As stated by the National Eating Disorders Association, mass media s influence is greatly

hopes of reaching women struggling with body image issues. Dove s campaign began as a way to
strike up a discussion over the true definition of beauty. Since 2004, Dove s campaign has had many
different ways of achieving this goal to reach out to those struggling with beauty. These campaigns
include counterarguments on issues including aging, thin as beautiful. Dove even made a

coming in and describing that same person to the artist. Later the women got to come back in and
see the difference in the drawings, which gave them an insight to how others view them and their

Society s Criminal Justice System
Society views many crimes , such as assault, rape, battery, robbery. Murder, and burglary as

Analysis Of Sudden Shower Over Shin-Ohashi Bridge And Atake
Japan is often recognized as a land of peace, beauty, and diverse landscapes and climates that
cannot be witnessed anywhere else on the planet. A majority of Japanese citizens practice
Shintoism, a polytheistic religion whose gods exist within plants and animals. Because of this, an
appreciation for nature is ingrained deep into the foundation of Japan s values. This can be seen
throughout the country s entire history; much of its art and poetry has been focused solely on its
natural beauty. Sudden Shower Over Shin Ohashi Bridge and Atake is a famous Japanese
woodblock print by Utagawa Hiroshige published in 1857, one of many that shows an appreciation
for Japan s beautiful landscapes. The print belongs the ukiyo egenre that emerged between the 17th
and 19th century. Ukiyo e literally translates to pictures of the floating world and the style
dominated the art of Japan s Edo Period. What began as a reflection of Japan s indulgent and
hedonistic culture, portraying subjects like beautiful women and extravagant scenes from the
Kabuki theater, gradually transitioned into capturing landscapes and the lives of average people.
Hiroshige was one of the pioneers of this transition with his famed One Hundred Famous Views
of Edo, a 119 piece series that features celebrated landscapes in his hometown of Edo, known as
Tokyo today, and his last great success before his death. Sudden Shower Over Shin Ohashi Bridge

The Human Body Is A Complex System
The human body is a complex system that is composed of billions of cells, undergoing growth,
division and death in an orderly fashion on a daily basis. When this process occurs in an abnormal
manner, the outcome is typically referred to as a tumor. In today s world, tumor is a term that is
commonly heard throughout the world. Also referred to as neoplasm, a tumor is an abnormal
growth of tissue resulting from the rapid cell division due to some form of mutation (Cooper). They
are classified into four main groups: benign, in situ, malignant and those with uncertain or unknown
behaviour. Of the four classes of tumor, malignant neoplasms are those tumors that are typically
referred to as cancers (Cooper). These tumors involve abnormal cell growth that has the potential to
invade and destroy the surrounding tissue, possibly forming metastases and becoming fatal. Eye
tumors are secondary tumors that results from a primary tumor that has spread from other parts of
the body and have invaded the eye. There are two primary types that occur within the eye:
retinoblastoma in children, and melanoma in adults.
Ocular melanoma is a rare cancer that occurs in the adult eye (GuГ©nel et al.). Although there are
other types of eye cancer, ocular melanoma is the most commonly occurring and the most
dangerous. It is a malignant tumor that metastasizes and become fatal in about half of all occurring
cases. It is the second most common type of melanoma that occurs and accounts for 5% of all

Hard Times Sowing Essay
A child with no imagination is like an Earth without wildlife. Cold, boring, and desolate. Dickens
cleverly names the three sub books in Hard Times Sowing, Reaping, and Garnering. As Galatians

return. Dickens alludes to the bible and general farming terms in the titles of the three books to
condemn the educationsystem of the 19th Century Victorian era and furthermore foreshadow the
plot of the books. The first of the three books, Sowing , lays the foundation for the whole story by
introducing us to Thomas Gradgrind and his school. The opening lines to the whole story read

Speech On Polar Bear
Land without ice is a very difficult environment for polar bears. This was proven by Canadian
photographer Paul Nicklen and Sea Legacy filmmakers when they arrived on Baffin Island in late
summer. They came face to face with a shocking sight a polar bear, starved and slowly dying.
We stood there crying filming with tears rolling down our cheeks, said Nicklen.
In the video, the polar bear was limping and hanging by a thread of life. The animal had a thin
and bony frame, covered with white fur, while its back legs were likely suffering from muscle
atrophy due to wasting. It rummaged a nearby trashcan used by Inuit fishers seasonally, however,
nothing was edible. The polar bear dejectedly collapsed on the ground, deprived of food.
Nicklen thought of helping the bear but without a tranquilizer gun or 400 pounds of seal meat, he
could do nothing. Also, feeding polar bears in Canada is illegal. Nicklen also considered not to
prolong the agony of the poor animal, instead, he recorded the bear s slow death from starvation.
When scientists say bears are going extinct, I want people to realize what it looks like. Bears are
going to starve to death. This is what a starving bear looks like, Nicklen stressed out.
The heartbreaking sight of the starving and dying polar beat was a sign on how deadly climate
change to mankind and animals. According to climate scientists, the Arctic region is melting way
too fast than at any time in the last 1,500 years. Some parts of the region

Male And Female Characters In A Streetcar Named...
Male and female writers communicate differently as to how a character is portrayed. The way
female characters are depicted in short stories, poems, books, and essays all change depending on
the writer. The perspective changes due to how the writer sees things and how they relate to the
character. Male writers insinuate how a femalecharacter is depending on their view of the world
and other females. Female writers resemble the female characters they write about and how much
they relate to their life to the character. For example, the reader can compare A Streetcar Named
Desire by Tennessee Williams and A New England Nun by Mary E. Wilkins Freeman to see the
difference in comparison of female characters by writers of the opposite sex. The formal writingof
males and females contradict each other by way of contrasting views. A Streetcar Named Desire
is written by a male by the name of Tennessee Williams. His character Blanche DuBois struggles
with many different circumstances through out her life. One of those things being the fact that she
found out her late husband was gay and then committed suicide. This broke her heart and she
resorted to lying about several things. She would lie so much that when she stopped lying no one
believed her any more and had determined she had become mentally ill. By the end of the story
her sister is sending her to a mental hospital where she will end up dying. Williams constructs

Trying to Understand Bundling
Bundling: Bundling is a term that refers to the process of transportation of goods belonging to
various flows in a common vehicle intermodal unit such as truck, train or barge or other segments
during part of their journey. As a result, this process is a major business of the transportation sector
given that operators occasionally examine their service networks and change their bundling
operations. The adjustments made in bundling operations are usually a reaction to changing cost
structures, situations, and competition with regards to the requirements of demand and
performance. During the adjustments, the operators basically change the bundling type, extent of
network concentration, frequency of service, vehicle load, and utilized physical means
(Kreutzberger, 2010, p.160). Generally, the major factors for adjustments are changes in flow
directions and sizes and the operator s share in the market. According to market players in the

The s Argument That The Holocaust Is Only Available...
Miller, like Glowacka, understands that literature, even fiction, transmits ideas and emotions to the
reader which are central to comprehending and learning from traumatic experiences. Miller
references Susan Suleiman s argument that the Holocaust is only available through representation .
Suleiman made this argument in response to Holocaust deniers who claim that fictitious memoirs
confirm the inexistence of the Holocaust. However, the point supports the idea that art, including
literature, allows the public to experience something like the Holocaust that otherwise would be not
be available to experience.
On the other hand, Miller successfully argues that fake memoirs are meant to highlight the
problematic nature of authenticity and capitalism has changed the idea of what we think is real and
what is not. By citing Baudrillard, Miller states that our idea of real is only a series of
representations that we think are real. In fact, all our ideas of reality are fabrications because
memory is not factual. The discovery of these fake memoirs can cause society to realize that all
memoirs are, in fact, fabrications. With that in mind, this article contradicts the idea that the public
can understand trauma through experiencing art. Overall, Stylised Configurations of Trauma
contributes to the art, trauma, and memory theme through proving that the study of fraudulent
memoirs can help explain the strange expectation that literature is able to provide access to

Student:Lyn Marie James
Abstract
There is diversity of forms of government (Laundy, 1989) and different ways of classifying them
and as such, this paper sets out to discuss the budgetary powers of the legislature under different
forms of government, and the environment that informed the political structures. The paper
discusses the different forms of government systems that exist in various countries with specific

The expansion of budgetary control over the rest of the military and into non military areas during
the Eighteenth Century was slow and inconsistent. However, as Parliament became more
accustomed to allocating funds, some modern concepts and terminology began to develop. In 1733
Robert Walpole, Whig Prime Minister under George I, began referring to the inauguration of the
discussions on the Crown s proposed expenditures as the opening of the budget. This convention
continued, and gradually by 1800 this usage was universally accepted in England.
In France a conscious effort to make government rational was initiated. Following the lead of the
Philosophers during the Age of Reason, and eager to replace the medieval traditions of the ancient
regime, the French introduced sweeping changes to their government and society during the reign
of Napoleon.
As with the English, except with different motives, Napoleon s first concern was with mastering the
military budget. To obtain better information on, and to control expenditures, he established a
Corps des Comptes. The general who headed this corps became,

The State Of Texas Gained Its Independence
The state of Texas gained its independence on December 29, 1845 after six and a half enduring
months of ceaseless brawls. The colonization of Texas first began with Stephen F. Austin, whom is
also recognized as the Father of Texas. Stephen began the uprising for self reliance against the
Army of Mexico, led by Antonio LГіpez de Santa Anna, when he proposed opening up Texasto a
swamp of immigrants. This action of his branched off throughout the years into countless battles for
the Lonestar state to become individualistic. The first battle of the Revolution was the Battle of
Gonzales, ending with only two casualties and the victory of the Texas soldiers. The Alamo is one
of the most memorable engagements within this period of time, where the legendary cry,
Remember the Alamo! originated from. The Alamo still stands tall today and is visited by many
each year, and represents the Texan soldier s heroic opposition to injustice versus the government of
Mexico. The Battle of San Jacinto was the shortest and final confrontation of the Texas Revolution.
This resulted in a Texan victory, and an overall win for the Texian
soldiers as they wash away
Mexico with their statement of independence. The Texas Revolution was a conflict in the
nineteenth century between the people of Texas and Mexican soldiers. This revolution led the the
independence of the Lone Star state, and opened floodgates to numerous significant battles along
the way. This rebellion included various engagements,

leave quickly as if you simply flushed it or you have to fill the toilet with water while holding

from the gap and the water just stays there then set the plunger back in and cover the opening. This
time top the bowl off to the base of the edge and after that evacuate the plunger if the water quickly

In the novel Beloved, the author, Toni Morrison, attempts to promote a variety of different themes

throughout the entire novel and is very crucial to the understanding and analyzing of the text. A

Her mind is clouded with emotions and rememories. But in the ice skating scene this appears to
change as Morrison writes, Anybody feeling sorry for [Sethe], anybody wandering by to peep in
and see how she was getting on would discover that the woman... was sailing happily on a frozen
lake (Morrison 174). Sethe appeared to be happy once again. At one point, Sethe takes on the
qualities of some kind of wild animal, having four legs. After falling on the ice Sethe rose to her
hands and knees, laughter still shaking her chest, making her eyes wet. She stayed that way for
a while, on all fours (Morrison 175). Paul D also refers to her as being an animal and having four
legs later in the novel. It is also interesting that Morrison writes, Sethe couldn t skate a lick...
(Morrison 174) Sethe did not know how to skate, just like she did not know how to be a parent.
This inability later leads to the downfall of the family.
Morrison takes great detail in describing which shoes each member of the family wears while ice
skating. Sethe says, We ll take turns. Two skates on one; one skate on one; and shoe slide for the
other (Morrison 174). Morrison writes, Beloved wore the pair (Morrison 174). Beloved was given
the two best skates because she was the least stable of the three. She needed the most attention, the

The Influence Of Western Imperialism
Western scientists proposed new ideas regarding biological races that enhanced their beliefs that
westerners are naturally superior than other groups. Europeans were convinced that colonization
and enslavement of other societies were justified and as a result imperialism of the western world
began and influenced the basis of America. By taking over these new colonies, such as India and
Sri Lanka, science was able to develop and incorporate new information on the origins of humanity
with respect to the organization of the natural world. Within the beginnings of Western
imperialism, America was able to develop and thrive from the influences of previous European
activity, which granted the advancement of science and thus entirely changed the definition of
modern science. The British invasion of India came after the desire of the East India Company
wanting to grow trade and thus required knowledge of the indigenous living in India, so they
became highly interested in the Sanskrit texts (Sivasundaram 130). The importance of such texts
showed scientists that India s past...was glorified, and progress was tied not to the body or
physiognomy but to language (Sivasundaram 131). This new discovery allowed for the intelligence
of the culture of India to change and demonstrated the differences among environments Europeans
were not exposed to. The anti British Indian Mutiny of 1857 showcased Europeans taking over
India and science develop as the wars allowed for the catalogue

Halothane Case Study
This paper briefly touches on a case study by a nursing assistant student who is assisting with an
anesthesiologist that she is shadowing. The student was asked to monitor vitals during a knee
surgery. The patient was given Halothane and the surgery began. After two hours in surgery, the
patient, who was a young athletic female named Sharon Riley, began to show signs of distress.
This patient s temperature elevated to 105 В°F and pulse began to rise up to 120 bpm, and her
blood pressure began to drop down to 60/56 mmHg. This triggers the monitors alarm because
normal vitals for this patient were a temperature of 98.6 В°F, 75 bpm pulse and blood pressure of
105/60 mmHg. This causes the doctors to react quickly and begin to assess what is wrong... Show

Describe the pathophysiology. It is possible that the Halothane triggered a genetically predisposed
condition called Malignant hyperthermia (MH) in the patient Sharon who was having surgery on
her knee. Sharon presented with symptoms 2 hours after administration of inhaled Halothane. She
had a temperature that elevated to 105 degrees, increased heart rate of 120 bpm and low blood
pressure of 60/56. All of these symptoms are abnormal for this patient but can be signs of the
condition MH. This condition can be triggered by exposure to volatile inhaled anesthesia drugs like
Halothane and signs can be seen during surgery or shortly after surgery (library book, pg510). MH
alters the calcium channel in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and this allows large quantity of
calcium to be released from the SR creating hyper action in skeletal muscle; this reaction increases
oxygen consumption and increased heat production that ultimately leads to a hypermetabolic state
after the inhaled Halothane has triggered the condition (Knies). The continuous elevation of
calcium also causes excessive stimulation of anaerobic glycolytic metabolism. This creates
respiratory and metabolic acidosis, rigidity (muscle contractions), and hyperkalemia (elevated
potassium) and can ultimately lead to death

He is the Prince of Denmark and is 30 years old. Hamlet is hostile when it comes to his mother
and uncle. He is intelligent, having studied at the University of Wittenberg and he also someone
who is difficult to understand when it comes to decision making. Some of his choices are based
on impulse while others are made off of fact and logical thinking. His mind is mysterious and
difficult to comprehend. There is always an underlying message in the words that Hamlet speaks.
Hamlet s father s death impacted him greatly while he was studying at the university. He is
contemplative about life after death and trying to prove his uncle guilty of killing his father.
Hamlet also turns into a madman sometimes in this play with his disapproved behavior. When
Hamlet s mother remarried to his uncle after his father s death, his behavior changed. His attitude
toward women became hostile and unfriendly. Overall. Hamlet is a very intelligent man, but there
are times in his life where the mind will come before the

Coral Bleaching Informative Speech
A. Attention Grabber: Imagine your daily routine here, you walk to class, work, run into your
friends on north campus. Maybe you even stop and splurge on some Starbucks on the walk to
the library. Now imagine waking up to do that same routine again, only when you step outside
your door, everything is demolished. There are no buildings and north campus is a desiccated,
brown wasteland. Your friends that usually meet you near the library are nowhere to be found.
This is how millions of fish and other marine life feel when their coral reefs have been degraded,

Dangers: If awareness is not spread and action is not taken, coral bleaching events will continue
to occur and kill more and more valuable ocean habitats per day. According to Chasing Coral, the
2017 documentary about coral bleaching starring several prominent coral biologists, if this
trend continues, 90% of our coral reefs will be gone by 2050, which is an incredibly depressing
fact. Transition: Now that you are aware of these shocking statistics, you are probably
wondering what you can do to help. B. Solution: An easy way to get involved and help restore
coral reefs in Florida and in the Caribbean, is to donate to Coral Restoration Foundation. 1.
Clearly Explain Plan: Coral Restoration Foundation is the world s largest reef restoration
program. It was created in 2007 by Ken Nedimyer, a native Floridian who noticed the coral dying
around him after decades of diving in the Keys reefs. CRF began actively restoring reefs in the
Florida Keys in 2003 and has since branched out to Bonaire and Curacao. 2. Funding: In order to
fund their programs, the Coral Restoration Foundation relies mostly on donations and large grants.
3. Enforcement: Coral Restoration Foundation is a nonprofit organization, which means they are
not allowed to create or distribute a profit and there are no shareholders who own or control the

Analyzing Climate Change
Climate change has become one of the most important issues on the global political agenda. This is
largely due to the fact that the developments that influence climate change also impact the way in
which life is conducted at local, regional, national, and global level.
The present paper aims to analyze climate change from a general perspective with due consideration
for aspects that eventually define climate change as an essential challenge as well as for humanity
in its entirety and for the individual as a single element of society.
The first part of the research provides background information on what climate change is, what are
its most important constituent elements, and what are its implications. Climate change represents
in essence a global challenge that can only be tackled at the global level. This is why it is
important to consider the views and perspectives of global organizations such as the United
Nations, through the United Nations Environment Program among other organisms under the
coordination of the United Nations. Climate change has been at the center of vivid debates in
recent decades particularly because it affects all strata of human life, from food supplies to
education, health, and sustainable development. Its complex impact on human life makes climate
change an all the more important aspect to be taken into account by policy makers, world leaders,
and decision takers around the world.
The second part of the research focuses on the initiatives

The Role Of Technology In The 1980 s
Could you live without the technology we have today? Without the 1980 s, you would not have
any of your cell phones or computers. You also would not have most of the medical things we use
in the medical field today. The 1980 s played a huge role in the creation of recreational, medical,
and other technologies we use today.
In the 1980 s there were plenty of recreational inventions. One invention was the Walkman, which is
similar to an Ipod because you can listen to music with headphones in ( TechnologyInvented In The
1980s. ). The boombox was used in the 1980 s, but it was too big and it played the music too loud.
The Walkman let people listen to music whenever and wherever they wanted without being
embarrassed. Another invention was the cell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only did they help the people living in the 1980 s, they also play a huge part in the medical
field today. Some of these inventions are the implantable cardioverter defibrillator, personal
glucose meter, digital hearing aid, safety needles and syringes, and angioplasty balloon catheter.
The implantable cardioverter defibrillator is implanted into patients who could suffer from a
cardiac death. It sends out an electric shock once it detects the heart problem ( 30 Years/30 Devices
: 1979 : The 1980s : The 1990s : The 2000s : Older Technologies. ). The personal glucose meter was
a very significant step for diabetics. This new technology allowed diabetics to have testings done at
their homes instead of the hospital ( 30 Years/30 Devices : 1979 : The 1980s : The 1990s : The
2000s : Older Technologies. ). The digital hearing aid was a very big step for people with hearing
disabilities. It provided a more comfortable way to help and improve the hearing of people ( 30
Years/30 Devices : 1979 : The 1980s : The 1990s : The 2000s : Older Technologies. ). Also in this
time, a safety mechanism was invented to be put in needles and syringes. It was put in to prevent
the spread of bloodborne diseases such as AIDs ( 30 Years/30 Devices : 1979 : The 1980s : The
1990s : The 2000s : Older Technologies. ). Angioplasty balloon catheter was also made to save and
improve the lives of patients. These helped relieve

Analysis Of Joel A. Rogers
Joel A Rogers
Joel A. Rogers was born on September 6,1883 in Negril, Jamaica. Rogers was a journalist and
Historian, who spent most of his career and life writing about black diaspora in the United States.
Joel A. Rogers greatest achievement was his writing on racist depictions on people of black
ancestry, which acknowledge the history of black people in America and around the world. Rogers
worked for many African Americannewspapers where he published 100 Amazing Facts About the
Negro (1934), Crisis:The Suppression of Negro History (1940), Sex and Race Volume 1 (1941), Sex
and Race, Volume 2 (1942); Sex and Race, Volume III (1944); World s Great Men of Color
(1946),and Africa s Gifts to America (1961)(4). In addition to Rogers... Show more content on

Rogers knew that as a black man in white America there was going to discrimination and
suppression toward his works but his self determination pushed him further to write about black
opposition.
Joel A. Rogers is a man of self determination because of Rogers only obtaining a high school
diploma and educating himself further in his career where he became a prolific journalist and
author of histories and collective biographies of great black figures (1). His self determination
started at an early age when he escaped from rural Jamaica by joining the British army and from
that enlistment and emigrated to America. His time in America shaped his attitudes and beliefs
(which would stay with him later in his career) because of the United States reinforcement of white
hierarchy and unescapable discrimination. Even as a student, Joel A. Rogers, in school he had
resisted principles of white superiority, and in the United States he thought back on the
accomplishments of black West Indians who had excelled within the British educational and
military systems (2). As a student, Rogers grew into an eager and zealous opponent of American
racism. Rogers realized that the empowerment of African Americans depended upon a needed prior
revolution in their internalized self images. Furthermore, Rogers set out as a writer to disseminate
truth in spite of the barriers of

  • 2. Secret Window For Mise En Scene Analysis Analysing a five minute clip of Secret Window for Mise en Scene and Performance The first thirty seconds of this clip are of the main character, Mort Rainey in his car. The first thing we see is the book in his hands, the depth of focus changes as he runs his finger across the stubs of pages. The focus changes as the character makes a discovery, this could be to emphasise to the audience how important this discovery might come to be. Then we are shown the character himself, the only thing slightly obscuring our view of him is the steering wheel, this adds to the creation of the setting. The symbolic idea behind having the character in his car at this particular moment, could be to show that he is still discovering things, he hasn t got all of the answers yet, but he s well on his way. The actor, Johnny Depp, shows the expression of surprise on the character s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The smart hat is at odds with his unkept appearance and he looks even stranger and more insane with the hat on. The character quickly stands up and we see his reflection in the mirror. His face is again almost completely black and you cannot make out his face, he could be anyone stood there. The fact that his face is obscured is significant, because the character is in the middles of doubting his own identity. As Mort Rainey steps towards the mirror, the camera zooms in and shows his face in much more clarity, this may be an indication of the character s own clarity as to who he is, although it is more likely, since we are only seeing his reflection, that it is symbolic of the character seeing himself more clearly, not total clarity. Again, we hear the character talking to his own thoughts, this along with the way he s playing with the rim of the hat and the way his face seems to indicate he feels comfortable in the hat, makes the character seem darker and even more ... Egypt s first leap towards becoming an advanced civilisation began with King Narmer s unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. Although the first 200 years of Egypt s unification do not appear to have been peaceful, cultural development accelerated ahead during the early dynasties. The tensions between the North and South throughout Egypts second dynasty continued to grow until Khasekhemwy s ascension to the throne. As the last King of the Second Dynasty, he is widely recognised as the King that resolved the conflict between the two sides, however, how this was achieved is not known. The beginning of the third dynasty started with his son, Djoser, who now ruled over a politically stable Egypt. Egyptian society advanced significantly under... Egyptian culture has not only benefited from the Unification, rather the economy as well. Narmer s name has been found outside Egypt, in Syria Palestine which indicates that some form of contact and active trade was present between Egypt and parts of the Ancient Near East, and thus creating trade links bettering Egypt s future economic prospects. The start of a new presidency (Jackson s presidency) was accompanied by huge numbers of Hickoryites (Jacksonian supporters) and official hopefuls. Many of these hopefuls were granted their desire of holding office, which is one of the changes brought into Washington by Andrew Jackson. Although opposites alike were granted power they were not always for the continuance of democracy. Jackson was the most democratic of any president at that time to come to power. In practically all areas of political application there was the existence of liberal thinking. This was especially apparent in his previously mentioned appointment of officials. Jackson considered the roles of officials fairly simple and could and should be carried out by all people not just the members of the socially and intellectually elite. The belief of complete equality is with out a doubt Jacksonian. Despite this already democratic view, Jackson took it one step further and appointed the illiterate and plain incompetent members of society to office. • 8. Race And Ethnic Stratification Research Paper Essay 2: Race and Ethnic Stratification Research Paper In 1957, Malaysia became an independent country and in 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act. Within seven years, the two countries underwent critical transformations from a history of systematic oppression to new freedoms. Both the United States and Malaysia are comprised of multiple ethnicities, races, and dynamics that define their social and economic relationships. Because of the timing of social and economic change, residual effects of oppression influence the ability of both countries to lessen racial and ethnic inequalities. However, similarities between racial and ethnic dynamics in the two countries end there. After independence, Malaysian society was able to progress in a way that significantly reduced socioeconomic stratification, while in the U.S., the progress was less notable. Much of this discrepancy is due to the differences between ethnicity and race: in Malaysia, ethnic differences are complex and subtle, making them easier to ignore or forget; in the U.S., racial distinctions are often as clear and rigid as the difference between black and white, making significant and lasting progress more difficult to achieve. A number of reasons for this contrast between Malaysia and the U.S. will be discussed. For one thing, the conditions succeeding from the U.S. racial climate did not favor African Americans in terms of employment and status, whereas in Malaysia, independence had a ... • 15. Ethical Framework In Teleological Framework A case study was done on the closing of a textile manufacturing company in North Carolina, which decided to relocate the business to another country. The decision to transfer was based on the fact that the company would generate more revenue at a lower cost. However, the proponents of such a move were based on an ethical teleological framework decision. However, an ethical leader has certain qualities that are needed to build trust and develop sustainable relationships amongst numerous stakeholders (Eisenbeils Brodbeck, 2014). According to the reading in Unit V, the proponents and decision to move the textile company to Southeast Asia are based on the teleological framework. Also, to understand why this move is considered to be ethical, we must look at the meaning of teleological framework. Teleological is based on one s consequences of action; nevertheless, these results of interests are those that affect the individuals directly. Additionally, teleological ethics determines the value of a moral action or a moral life result from that action or life; consequently, philosophies within teleological ethics are also known as consequentialist ethical theories (Kocyigit Karadag, 2016). Further, the leader is also in favor of utilitarianism, whereas they can find themselves confronting undecidable dilemmas for which making a particular decision becomes almost random (Farmer, 2015). During that time, they make an unbreakable connection with each other. When adoption takes place at any age of the adoptees life, it is difficult for both the mother and child. When infants are abandoned, or feel that they are being abandoned, it causes them to grow up with many unresolved issues. This is because the first thing they learn about life is that it is lonely and hostile, unlike their mother s womb. This can cause adoptees to grow up with many psychological issues and the major one is grief. They grieve the loss of their birth mother and the life that they could have lived. No matter how dedicated an adoptive mother is, she can never fill that void. Discussion Adoption is an amazing process and it is strongly encouraged in our country. However, adoptees face several psychological issues, including grief. The biological mother and child have a very strong bond and, when broken, it leaves the child with many unresolved issues. When the baby is in the fetal stage, the mother is the whole world for the baby and completely supports the fetus. After the baby is born, maintaining that connection is needed for the infant to feel a sense of well being and wholeness. • 17. Should Bartenders Be Held Responsible For Their Positions What is a bartender? Merriam Webster states it s a person who mixes and serves alcoholic drinks at a bar. Nowhere in the definition does it say, Attend to behavior , or, Watch for drunken disorder. Bartenders are those that fill orders of patrons at a bar itself or are given a beverage order by a waiter or a waitress that he or she will pick up and serve to the patron. (Benson, Beth). Bartenders do not force drinks on people, only provide what is asked. Some may order drinks one by one; on the other hand, one may order drinks all at one time. It is a case by case basis if the bartender will provide a patron with more than one drink at a time. Your body puts out serious and obvious warning signs after that amount of alcohol has been consumed, such as passing out and vomiting. (Wagner, Tom). A majority of Japanese citizens practice Shintoism, a polytheistic religion whose gods exist within plants and animals. Because of this, an appreciation for nature is ingrained deep into the foundation of Japan s values. This can be seen throughout the country s entire history; much of its art and poetry has been focused solely on its natural beauty. The print belongs the ukiyo egenre that emerged between the 17th and 19th century. In the video, the polar bear was limping and hanging by a thread of life. The animal had a thin and bony frame, covered with white fur, while its back legs were likely suffering from muscle atrophy due to wasting. It rummaged a nearby trashcan used by Inuit fishers seasonally, however, nothing was edible. The polar bear dejectedly collapsed on the ground, deprived of food. Nicklen also considered not to prolong the agony of the poor animal, instead, he recorded the bear s slow death from starvation. When scientists say bears are going extinct, I want people to realize what it looks like. Bears are going to starve to death. This is what a starving bear looks like, Nicklen stressed out. Miller, like Glowacka, understands that literature, even fiction, transmits ideas and emotions to the reader which are central to comprehending and learning from traumatic experiences. Miller references Susan Suleiman s argument that the Holocaust is only available through representation . Suleiman made this argument in response to Holocaust deniers who claim that fictitious memoirs confirm the inexistence of the Holocaust. However, the point supports the idea that art, including literature, allows the public to experience something like the Holocaust that otherwise would be not be available to experience. On the other hand, Miller successfully argues that fake memoirs are meant to highlight the problematic nature of authenticity and capitalism has changed the idea of what we think is real and what is not. By citing Baudrillard, Miller states that our idea of real is only a series of representations that we think are real. In fact, all our ideas of reality are fabrications because memory is not factual. The discovery of these fake memoirs can cause society to realize that all memoirs are, in fact, fabrications. With that in mind, this article contradicts the idea that the public can understand trauma through experiencing art. It will leave quickly as if you simply flushed it or you have to fill the toilet with water while holding the plunger over the gap, you at that point expel the plunger, and the water will quickly leave the bowl, the key is to have the water sufficiently high to leave the bowl. If you pull the plunger far from the gap and the water just stays there then set the plunger back in and cover the opening. This time top the bowl off to the base of the edge and after that evacuate the plunger if the water quickly leaves then you have unclogged the toilet if not it is as yet stopped up, and you have to continue diving until the point when it does. All the time is keeping enough water in the bowl to compel it through the obstruct. Doing the unclogging the way it was recently clarified the toilet would never flood since you are controlling the measurement of water entering the bowl, utilizing the handle you can t control the water entering the bowl. Endeavoring to flush and hold the flapper down is too unsafe as is stopping the water, you can cause a hole by simply turning the water valve, you can break or curve the flush valve parts attempting to hold the flapper close and causing to a higher degree an issue. Following the above advances is the least demanding and the most secure approach to never flood a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Essay on Toni Morrison s Beloved Symbolism in Beloved In the novel Beloved, the author, Toni Morrison, attempts to promote a variety of different themes and ideas by symbolizing them in minor events and situations. This symbolism is evident throughout the entire novel and is very crucial to the understanding and analyzing of the text. A good example of this is the ice skating scene. Morrison uses this scene to represent the slow, but consistent, deterioration of the family living in 124 and to foreshadow the ultimate demise of the family unit. Morrison writes repeatedly, Nobody saw them falling, yet in all reality they were falling, and falling fast (Morrison 174). There are a number of details, including the setting, Sethe s emotions, the choice of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her mind is clouded with emotions and rememories. But in the ice skating scene this appears to change as Morrison writes, Anybody feeling sorry for [Sethe], anybody wandering by to peep in and see how she was getting on would discover that the woman... was sailing happily on a frozen lake (Morrison 174). Sethe appeared to be happy once again. At one point, Sethe takes on the qualities of some kind of wild animal, having four legs. After falling on the ice Sethe rose to her hands and knees, laughter still shaking her chest, making her eyes wet. She stayed that way for a while, on all fours (Morrison 175). Paul D also refers to her as being an animal and having four legs later in the novel. It is also interesting that Morrison writes, Sethe couldn t skate a lick... (Morrison 174) Sethe did not know how to skate, just like she did not know how to be a parent. This inability later leads to the downfall of the family. Morrison takes great detail in describing which shoes each member of the family wears while ice skating. Sethe says, We ll take turns. Two skates on one; one skate on one; and shoe slide for the other (Morrison 174). Morrison writes, Beloved wore the pair (Morrison 174). Beloved was given the two best skates because she was the least stable of the three. She needed the most attention, the most help ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Influence Of Western Imperialism Western scientists proposed new ideas regarding biological races that enhanced their beliefs that westerners are naturally superior than other groups. Europeans were convinced that colonization and enslavement of other societies were justified and as a result imperialism of the western world began and influenced the basis of America. By taking over these new colonies, such as India and Sri Lanka, science was able to develop and incorporate new information on the origins of humanity with respect to the organization of the natural world. Within the beginnings of Western imperialism, America was able to develop and thrive from the influences of previous European activity, which granted the advancement of science and thus entirely changed the definition of modern science. The British invasion of India came after the desire of the East India Company wanting to grow trade and thus required knowledge of the indigenous living in India, so they became highly interested in the Sanskrit texts (Sivasundaram 130). The importance of such texts showed scientists that India s past...was glorified, and progress was tied not to the body or physiognomy but to language (Sivasundaram 131). This new discovery allowed for the intelligence of the culture of India to change and demonstrated the differences among environments Europeans were not exposed to. • 44. Halothane Case Study This paper briefly touches on a case study by a nursing assistant student who is assisting with an anesthesiologist that she is shadowing. The student was asked to monitor vitals during a knee surgery. The patient was given Halothane and the surgery began. After two hours in surgery, the patient, who was a young athletic female named Sharon Riley, began to show signs of distress. This patient s temperature elevated to 105 В°F and pulse began to rise up to 120 bpm, and her blood pressure began to drop down to 60/56 mmHg. This triggers the monitors alarm because normal vitals for this patient were a temperature of 98.6 В°F, 75 bpm pulse and blood pressure of 105/60 mmHg. This causes the doctors to react quickly and begin to assess what is wrong... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Describe the pathophysiology. It is possible that the Halothane triggered a genetically predisposed condition called Malignant hyperthermia (MH) in the patient Sharon who was having surgery on her knee. Sharon presented with symptoms 2 hours after administration of inhaled Halothane. She had a temperature that elevated to 105 degrees, increased heart rate of 120 bpm and low blood pressure of 60/56. All of these symptoms are abnormal for this patient but can be signs of the condition MH. This condition can be triggered by exposure to volatile inhaled anesthesia drugs like Halothane and signs can be seen during surgery or shortly after surgery (library book, pg510). MH alters the calcium channel in the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) and this allows large quantity of calcium to be released from the SR creating hyper action in skeletal muscle; this reaction increases oxygen consumption and increased heat production that ultimately leads to a hypermetabolic state after the inhaled Halothane has triggered the condition (Knies). The continuous elevation of calcium also causes excessive stimulation of anaerobic glycolytic metabolism. This creates respiratory and metabolic acidosis, rigidity (muscle contractions), and hyperkalemia (elevated potassium) and can ultimately lead to death ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is largely due to the fact that the developments that influence climate change also impact the way in which life is conducted at local, regional, national, and global level. The present paper aims to analyze climate change from a general perspective with due consideration for aspects that eventually define climate change as an essential challenge as well as for humanity in its entirety and for the individual as a single element of society. The first part of the research provides background information on what climate change is, what are its most important constituent elements, and what are its implications. Climate change represents in essence a global challenge that can only be tackled at the global level. This is why it is important to consider the views and perspectives of global organizations such as the United Nations, through the United Nations Environment Program among other organisms under the coordination of the United Nations. Climate change has been at the center of vivid debates in recent decades particularly because it affects all strata of human life, from food supplies to education, health, and sustainable development. Joel A. Rogers is a man of self determination because of Rogers only obtaining a high school diploma and educating himself further in his career where he became a prolific journalist and author of histories and collective biographies of great black figures (1). His self determination started at an early age when he escaped from rural Jamaica by joining the British army and from that enlistment and emigrated to America. His time in America shaped his attitudes and beliefs (which would stay with him later in his career) because of the United States reinforcement of white hierarchy and unescapable discrimination. Even as a student, Joel A. Rogers, in school he had resisted principles of white superiority, and in the United States he thought back on the accomplishments of black West Indians who had excelled within the British educational and military systems (2). As a student, Rogers grew into an eager and zealous opponent of American racism. Rogers realized that the empowerment of African Americans depended upon a needed prior revolution in their internalized self images. Furthermore, Rogers set out as a writer to disseminate truth in spite of the barriers of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
