The Question Of Origin Of Life
The Question of Origin Life began when Allah created every living thing from water (The
Koran 21:30). Allah then created the universe in six days (The Koran 25:59). These six days can
be interpreted as six distinct periods or eons (Doge 143). The reason the six days can be
interpreted is because of the word youm. Youm is understood as a long period of time, an era or
eon. (Dodge 143). Allah created the universe and the physical earth in two days, and then used
the next four days to populate it with life (Dodge 143). Once he had created everything Allah
established Himself on the Throne, to oversee all of creation (Dodge 144). Unlike the gods of
Christianity and Judaism Allah does not require rest (The Koran 50:38). Allah also created... Show

The Qur an has several different answers pertaining to mankind s creation. The answers given
are a blood clot (surah 96:1 2), water (surah 21:30), burned clay (surah 15:26), dust (surah 3:59),
nothing (surah 19:67), earth (surah 11:61), or a drop of thick fluid (surahs 16:4, 75:37) (Caner
92). With all these differences, there is only one similarity between the biblical worldview and the
Islamic worldview concerning creation. Both worldviews believe in a transcendent creator. It is
almost impossible to give an understanding of origin because the origin of life is not considered
important to most Muslims. This quandary supports evidence that Allah is not a personal God. He
doesn t care if his followers understand their origin, instead he places their very salvation in their
own hands. Out of the one hundred and two names Allah goes by not one of them is considered an
intimate name (Caner 117). In contrast the Bible consistently refers to God as our father, thus
presenting a more intimate creator. (Word count 519)
The Question of Identity To be human is to be honored above creatures of the earth and sea (The
Koran 17:70). Allah also gave man the ability to discern good from evil and freewill (Baianonie).
Not only are humans able to discern right from wrong we have the potential to learn and acquire
knowledge... (Bainanonie). With these abilities given by Allah this means we are responsible and
accountable for everything given (Baianonie). Also, apart of being

Analysis Of The Movie The Revenant
The Revenant is a very long and very intense movie. In the blockbuster, Leonardo DiCaprio plays
Hugh Glass, a seemingly indestructible savage machine. Glass survives the impossible on more
than one occasion. In three scenes in particular, Glass is put through a climatic, thrilling
situation. The first scene is in a misty forest where Glass finds himself alone when he stumbles
upon bear cubs and soon after is nearly mauled to death by the mother bear. He escapes death
when he was able to pull out his knife to kill the bear. Consequently, he is now in critical
condition and is not able to walk, move, or even talk. The next mind blowing scene, Glass just
rode his horse off a cliff while a blizzard encroaches him. His horse did not survive the fall and
the only thing to help Glass stay alive was his knife so he used it to gut the horse completely
hollow then Glass removed all of his clothes and crawled inside the horse to wait use its body heat
to protect him from the harsh snow storm. Finally, the thought to be climaxof the movie, Glass
finds the man who murdered his son while he helplessly watched, and Glass kills him in a long,
bloody exchange of gunshots and knife wounds and ultimately drags him in the nearby ice cold
stream
I believe that this action packed blockbuster that gave Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar is boring. I
believe this not because it has a poor scenery or bad acting, the acting is phenomenal and the
scenery and special effects are very detailed and

Adsorption Modeling Of Breakthrough Curves
Adsorption modeling of breakthrough curves
A successful design of a column adsorption process requires prediction of the concentration time
profile or breakthrough curve for the effluent. (a,aa14, aa15, aa7, aa2). There are two widely used
approaches to obtain the breakthrough curve of a given adsorption system: direct experimentation or
mathematical modeling. The design of an adsorption column through experimental method
provides a direct determination of the salient parameters based on the breakthrough curve.
However, the extensive experimentation is usually a time consuming and economically unfeasible.
(B6 ) Comparatively, mathematical modeling is simple and provides a method of estimating the
column adsorption capacity without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A linear regression was applied to equation 4 and the values of No and ka were computed from
the slope and intercept of the BDST plot between ln(Co/Ct 1) versus t at different adsorption
parameters such as flow rate, bed height and influent adsorbate concentration. These BDST
parameters were used to predict the maximum metal uptake capacity (qcal) under different
process conditions and were compared with the experimental values (qexp) in relation to the
estimated values of ka and No. As shown in Table 1a and b, the values ka decreased with
increasing bed depth and influent metal concentration, but increase with increasing flow rates.
Meanwhile, the values of No declined with the increase in bed height and flow rate. This trend
can be explained on the fact that at increased bed heights more number of active sites is available
for sorption to give higher total metal uptake but reduced per unit removal, whereas at increased
flow rate the volume of adsorbate that entered the column was higher and caused the bed to
saturate early. As with increased metal concentration, the No values were found to be increasing
due to higher loading of metal on the adsorbent achieved in a short period of contact. This
discussion shows that the overall kinetics of adsorption process is governed by external mass
transfer. (aa26, aa7,aa14, aa27)
The BDST model is valid for the describing the initial part of breakthrough curve

Han and Roman Views on Technology
Han and Roman Views on Technology
The Hans and Romans understood the importance of technology, but unlike the Hans, the Romans
viewed anyone who worked with tools or with their hands to be a person of lowly status. The
Romans only showed appreciation for technologies that could hold some benefit for the upper
class. The upper class Romans thought that craftsmen, people who made a living out of making
tools, was hardly an occupation that deserved any respect. The Hans appreciated the use of tools in
their labor and how it could help the people. The Hans showed a great appreciation of their
technological advancements, and its effect on society.
The Roman attitude toward technology was that any person who worked in workshops, devoting ...

These tools are also sold at very high prices considering their low quality. The Han government has
dominated the trade of iron, controlling the quality of tools used by the people to do work, and the
quality of tools the government uses to perform its public duties, such as repair work and the
building of public structures.
All the previous documents used above were all in the perspective of an upper class citizen. An
additional document that would have shown the attitude of the lower class citizens and the
women s perspective of these technological achievements would have added authenticity to this
argument. A document from the perspective of an upper class woman in Roman or Han society
would show if new technologies affected their everyday work/obligations, or if technologies
were solely for the benefit of men. Another source that would have been helpful would be from a
lower class woman to show the similarities and differences of the work expected of lower class
and upper class women. Men were dominate in both Roman and Han societies, but the attitude that
the lower class men had of technology was excluded from the list of documents provided. The
documents consisting of the feelings of the upper class citizens in the Han and Roman society s
states that people of the lower class used tools to perform their work, but it is unknown how they
personally felt about technology and its affect on them. From the information

Symbolism In William Jennings Bryan s The Wonderful...
During the late 1800 s, a pervasive sense of melancholy permeated throughout the forgotten, dreary
Midwestern United States. While the industrial revolution boosted the economy on the coasts,
Midwestern farmers were victims of deflationary debt increases, exorbitant shipping and railroad
rates, a high protective tariff, and a government that for the most part ignored them.1 Desperate
circumstances moved the everyday American farmers to join together and voice their grievances.
Instead of seeking federal aid or economic relief, they attempted to use the power of the ballot to
achieve their goals.1 The united group of farmers used the Populist Partyas a springboard to launch
their complaints and eventually got their candidate, William Jennings Bryan, nominated for the
presidential election of 1896 by the Democratic Party. L. Frank Baum, a newspaper writer who
lived in a small prairie town in South Dakota, experienced the populist wave firsthand, attending
Bryan s famous Cross of Gold speech in Chicago, and subtly incorporated many aspects of Bryan s
campaign into his children s novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.2 Despite his own claim that this
novel was written solely for the entertainment of the children of today , several historians have
discovered that the book clearly reflects the culture of the time period in which it was written.3 By
symbolically representing the struggles of the everyday working man, Bryan s political enemies,
and the campaign for free silver, Baum

Pros And Cons Of The Safe Drinking Water Act
Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is required
to establish the concentrations of contaminants that are permitted in public drinking water systems.
A public water system is defined by EPA as a system for the provision to the public of water for
human consumption through pipes or other constructed conveyances, if such system has at least
fifteen service connections or regularly serves at least twenty five individuals (63 Fed. Reg. 41940
[1998]). Section 1412 of the act, as amended in 1986, requires EPA to publish maximum
contaminant level goals (MCLGs) and promulgate national primary drinking water regulations

3. Should I include sports and clubs that I m a part of on my resume?
Many high school students have resume format questions about including their extracurricular
activities on their resume. Sports, clubs and other high school organizations you belong to show
employers that you are dedicated and reliable. Include these items on your resume in your education
section. Additionally, include any special projects in your education section that will make you
stand out.
4. I really enjoy taking pictures. Should I include this and other things I m interested in on my
resume?
Hobbies and outside interest make you a well rounded person. Including them on a resume can
give you experience if they are related to the job you are applying to get. For example, if you enjoy
taking pictures and are trying to get a job as a cashier, photography isn t relative to the job, so it
should be left off your resume. However, if you are applying to college as a public relations
major, your photography hobby will show your background in media arts. Including it in this case

Existential counselling is a philosophical form of counselling which addresses the situation of a
person s life and situates the person firmly within the predictable challenges of the human condition.
Existential counselling considers human living to take place within four dimensions: physical,
social, psychological and spiritual. It shows each of these dimensions to be constituted like a force
field, within which predictable paradoxes, tensions and dilemmas play out. Human beings can
learn to deal with these tensions and conflicts more effectively by facing up to the negatives as well
as the positives of their lives, including the tensions of life and death, love and hate, strength and
weakness and meaning and absurdity. Best known... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We may even choose actions that cause harm to ourselves or to others. Reflecting on these
behaviours, with the help of a psychologist, gives us insight into the reasons we chose these
actions and helps us to learn from our mistakes and make better choices in the future. You do not
need to be an existentialist to benefit from existential therapy; you need only a desire to be
happier and a willingness to reflect upon how your choices are part of the solution. Existential
Therapy is an approach to counselling that helps us to understand ourselves, other people and
the world we all inhabit together. Existential Therapy helps people to build confidence that they
are making good choices. Existential Therapy is not reserved solely for people who suffer from
severe psychological problems; it is for everyone who is having trouble making a good decision

opportunity to explore the world including the dreams, fantasies and spiritual dimensions of our
existence. Talking about it helps to identify dilemmas, develop a strategy to deal with them and

Tips On Growing Tomatoes Of Containers
5 tips on growing tomatoes in containers
Growing tomatoes in a container can be rewarding if done right. But it can be disastrous if the
wrong approach is used. Tomatoes are not the easiest plants to grow, but there sure are the favorite
for many gardeners. The taste of healthy fresh picked tomatoes is a motivation to many people to
grow tomatoes in a natural organic garden.
The good news is you don t need large space to grow. You can utilize that small space in your
backyard and grow enough potatoes to feed your family and sell to your neighbors. Many home
owners are using containers to grow different crops in areas with limited space, tomatoes are some
of the crops that are doing well in containers.
While there some problems you have no control over to prevent tomato fail, like critter, bad weather
and late bright, there are basic rules that you can follow to improve the success your chances for
growing tomatoes in containers.
Here are 5 tips on growing tomatoes in containers:
Tip #1: Preparation
Preparation for growing tomatoes in containers is easier than growing using any other method. You
will the need healthy tomato plant, the right container and compost and/or plant fertilizer.
Select the right tomato variety.
There are different tomato varieties available in the market. Most of these varieties are suitable for
containers, however bushy tomatoes are the recommended container tomatoes since they don t
require sticking and are also good for hanging containers.

The Role Of Choice In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Threat and Prestige of Choice Mankind has assumed the role of Godlike power that was
once left in the hand of deities. As a soldier walks onto a battlefield the power that he holds is in
the barrel of the gun. He makes the decisions whether to pull the trigger or not. He makes his
way towards the enemy s base and sees a target. He fires. The power that that soldier had was
once only associated with God. That God has the ability to bring people into this Earth as well as
to take people from it. With mankind s divine powers comes great responsibility. This is what
John Steinbeck is emphasizing in his 1962 Nobel Prize speech. He believes that because human s
have taken Godlike power, we must seek responsibility for our actions. He ties this... Show more

This decision that George has to make is not one he wants to do, but one he has to do. While in
hiding George contemplates, And George raised the gun and steadied it, and he brought the
muzzle of it close to the back of Lennie s head. The hand shook violently, but his face set and his
hand steadied. He pulled the trigger (Steinbeck 106). This quote relates to Steinbeck s nobel
speech because they both relate to the idea that choice is a pain and a virtue. As Steinbeck states
in his speech, The danger and glory and the choice rest finally in man. The test of his
perfectibility is at hand. Having taken Godlike powers, we must seek in ourselves for the
responsibility and the wisdom we once prayed for some deity might have (John Steinbeck
Banquet Speech). This quote from Steinbeck s speech and the quote from Of Mice and Men are
linked through the idea that choice is both a pain and a virtue, and that with choice comes
responsibility and wisdom. George s decision to shoot Lennie is a test of perfectibility in George
s morals if killing Lennie is the right or wrong thing. George is taking Godlike powers as he
contemplates whether to take George from this world.

Speech In Favor Capital Punishment
Speech In Favour Of Capital Punishment
Capital Punishment is the lawful infliction of death and has been used in Britain since the 5the
century. It was not until 1964 that capital punishment was abolished and this has been described by
many historians as Britain s worst decision in over 500 years.
Along with these Historians, I also believe that our country was much better off with the death
penalty as a punishment for sick and twisted people, murderers, rapists and peadophiles. Did you
know for instance that in 2003 there were 1048 murders and 172 attributed to one man. . . Harold
Shipman. Compare this to 1963 when the death penalty was used as an active deterant to murder,
how many? 300. Three hundred murders compared to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I hate to bore you with the statistics again but it is true that the threat of a hard punishment is
enough to scare without having to carry it out. In the Isle of Man, there was a punishment up until
1975 called birching, a public beating for any crime. The crime rate in the isle of man for 17 years
in a row? Less than 2%. A few minor crimes in 17 years. Birching was abolished and now the
crime rate in the Isle of Man is sky high, just like the rest of the UK. Proof that if the punishment is
severe enough, there wont be a crime to start with.
So will Britain ever restore capital punishment? In a survey of 2000 UK residents 72% would like
it re instated. Despite what the government tells us we live in a society of ever rising serious
crime and wether we like it or not, something needs to be done. And harder sentencing is not
enough. We need a real deterrent, Capital Punishment is the answer to our prayers. Hanging was
my family s business for over 14 years and we were honored to protect our country and perhaps in
advertantly save lives. I know for a fact that if hanging was re instated as the quick and painless
punishment to kill, i would gladly pull the lever.
I am as sure as I can be that capital punishment is the answer. The mandatory life sentence is just
not enough. It fails, in my view to distinguish between really awful crimes and those crimes, whilst
still murder, are more understandable. Ask yourself, is it right that a serial rapist

An Investigation Of The Capacity And Lateral Torsional...
Abstract The study includes an investigation of the stresses, deflections capacity and lateral
torsional buckling behavior of regular I section steel column of jib crane subjected to a axial
compressive eccentric loading. The lateral torsional buckling is the main failure mode that controls
the design of slender column. Different shapes of columns are proposed in this study with
different cross section, web shapes and materials. Finite element analysis and experimental study
are carried out on both types (i.e. Regular and proposed column) to calculate and validate results.
An optimization technique is used to optimize the solution from proposed different designs. The
thickness of the web and thickness of column is constant for all specimens with length 2 to 3 m
and tested for 500, 750 and 1000 Kg load lifting capacity. Structural analysis is done to examine the
influence of the section dimension due to axial compressive eccentric loading on column. Using
the study it is observed that not only the web thickness, but also the shape of web, angle of web and
sectional cross section of steel column influences the resistance to lateral torsional bucklingand
bending.
Keywords Slender, bending, lateral torsional buckling, sectional cross section, web shape.

The storage of RAM is expressed in megabytes and its capacity or size limited. An area of RAM
set aside for storage of most frequently accessed information is the CACHE memory. It is a
temporary high speed data holding area between the memory and the central processing unit.
RAM has four parts: the conventional memory which consist of the first 640KB of RAM, used

How Does Luis Valdez Use Stereotypes In Los Vendidos
Stereotypes are the shackles that keep masses of people unable to be free in the world. One of
the main themes illustrated through the play is the basis of stereotyping in America and how it
has and continues to affect chicanos. Valdez s definition of actos is to inspire others to take social
action , the playwright successfully fulfils his definition through the dialogues and events he
describes. The dehumanizing way that Valdez introduces all of the characters in the play solidifies
the pressure they feel to assimilate and why many resist assimilation. In the play Los Vendidos by
Luis Valdez, the author fulfills his own unique definition of actos in the play by showcasing some
of the stereotypes and prejudices held against Mexican Americans to illustrate the real social
standards that are placed upon them. The play uses stereotypes and biased cultural... Show more

quickly corrects him by using the Anglo pronunciation of her last name rather than how it was
intended. When she states My name is Miss JIM enez. Don t you speak English? What is wrong

abandoned her culture and fully taken on American culture instead. This is an example of Valdez s
definition of actos because Chicanos should not have to be forced to totally assimilate to a culture
that is not their own to please those around them or for others to accept them. I believe that Miss
Jimenez s character and the hardship that she represents for many Chicano Americans is important
because many do not feel that they are Chicano enough or American enough. Forcing them to

Postmodernism And Modernism
Successfully marketing a product is a fundamental component in remaining competitive in the
vicious dog eat dog world of business. The rise of postmodernism in society redefined what
successful and adaptive marketing looks like and consequently it gave branding a whole new
meaning and significance. Postmodernism means different things to different disciplines, yet the
general consensus is that it is a contemporary cultural phenomenon (Brown 1996). The postmodern
brandmodel enabled brands to have an identity that connects with its customers by presenting
brands in an anthropological view via customer engagement promotions. The gradual domination of
social media in western society enables organizations to market their brands to exist beyond... Show

Hyperreality is one of the most apparent features in all forms of advertising. Common examples of
hyperreality advertising include beauty promotions that were touched up with photoshop,
products that claim to have outrageous effects (e.g. Redbull gives you wings ), and it is also sold
in fantasy video games (League of Legends, Street Fighter, Assassins Creed, etc.). Furthermore,
advertising is often clandestinely placed in sporting video games because it s integrated in its
culture (adverts on the boards in NHL games, billboards in racing games, etc.) (Kaplan and
Haenlein 2009, 565). Hyperreality exists in reality television shows such as Big Brother and
Survivor , the participants of the show are aware that they are being perpetually recorded and it
alters their regular behavior and mannerisms. Social network communities further perpetuate the
existence of hyperreality online as there is over a combined one billion users between just
Facebook and Twitter alone. These social networks are then used to communicate with its customers
and concurrently encourage consumers to share their brand experiences with each other.
Anti foundationalism is the final trait being reviewed, in a marketing context it is about brands
and/or advertisementss going against the grain of societal norms. Geico is an example of how anti
foundationalism can be enforced successful for a brand s image. Geico, a company that sells car
insurance, managed to make it s brand

Compare The Stranger And Crime And Punishment
The research paper critiques the choice of crime presented in The Stranger by Albert Camus and
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. By focusing on the detachment and solitary
meaning creation of the protagonists of both the novels, the paper discovers similarities and
differences in the existential questions answered by the protagonists through their choice of crime.
In an existentialist viewpoint meaning is constructed by the conscious individual in an attempt to
find a rational explanation for his/her existence. The paper reveals different dimensions of the
notions of detachment and freedom based on the existential outlook of the protagonists. The
protagonist s crimes and their response to the ideas of punishment and repentance which the State
and Christianity try to impose upon them depict a conflict between the individual and the society.
Analyzing this conflict the paper finds that the deviation of the protagonists from serious
consideration of prevailing social principles is a result of their detachment and solitary life. The
idea of meaninglessness of existence is analyzed by examining the crimes of the protagonists and...

In this paper I am going to write about stuff I like. First I m going to talk about parkour. If you

If you don t know D D is a role playing game where you can do whatever you want. First you create
a character and you can make how strong you are or if you re a wizard or a rogue or a knight. You
play it with dice and a dungeon master. The dungeon master controls the game with their
imagination, like if you re walking through a forest the dungeon master can say a pack of goblins
attack you. How you play is let s say you see a pond with a frog on a rock, what do you do? You
could kill the frog by throwing your sword at it but that s a tricky shot so you take a twenty sided
die and you ll have to roll a ten or higher. The main point of the game is to do an objective like kill
an evil wizard or free a world from an evil overlord. You can basically do whatever you want as
long as the physics of your character allow it. My character is a rogue that used to be a criminal, i
m very acrobatic and I am awesome.

The Abjection Stage And The Narcissistic Stage
These are the Chora stage, the Abjection stage and the Narcissistic stage. The Chora stage covers
the first six months of an infant s life. It is a pre linguistic stage where the infant is dominated by
a chaotic mixture of acuities, feelings and needs. It is also a stage when the infant is oblivious
about the need to distinguish itself from its mother or the world around and is fully dependent on
its mother for the gratification of its desires. This stage is followed by the stage of Abjectionwhich
occurs from 4 8 months of age. The infant at this stage becomes conscious of the differences
between self and m/other and in a bid to develop the contours between self and m/other separates
itself from the mother. Kristeva refers to this act of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now the child has a clear perception of the subject, object and the abject. The subject (child)
submits himself to the prevailing rules and customs of the society, the object (other) opposes the
subject and disturbs the smooth run of things whereas the abject threatens the very identity and
wholeness of the subject. Objects can lead to either or both fascination and repulsion. When an
object is on the verge of destroying the subject s existence, it becomes an abject i.e. something to
get rid of. In a similar manner an abject becomes an object, when it is no longer a serious threat to
the subject s hegemony over its own self. In the Symbolic realm or the linguistic stage the child is
further separated from a connection with the mother as language itself finds meaning within its
own internal logic of differences. For example the meaning of the word hot is understood only
when we deduce the differences while comparing it with the word cold . Expanding upon this
concept of abjecting or differentiating ourselves from others, Kristeva further contends that all acts
of abjection or creating borders between the subject and the abject at the level of individuals,
communities, states, nations etc. originate from the psychic isolation prompted

Chrysler is the largest automobile manufacture in the United States. In the recent years, the
company is facing many obstacles. Chrysler established a poor business strategy and lack of
innovation that resulted in financial problems. From a strategic management view, they were
more unsettled than any other automakers. Their business strategy was focusing on SUV and

The Parthenon Essay
The ancient Greek civilization contributed many great new ideas and aspects to everyday life that

temples, acropolis and other grand architectural structures. Among these structures stood one of the
most famous, the Parthenon. The Parthenon was a symbol of Greek society and culture as it stood as
one of Greece s most important architectural buildings. Besides being the Athenians greatest
architectural achievement, the Parthenon serves a basic purpose. The Parthenon is a temple

As a cause of this relationship, the Parthenon plays a trick and strikes an illusion to the eye. Greek
architects Ictinus and Callicrates erected the temple atop the southern flank of the acropolis, the
central hill of the Greek city state which was used for defensive and religious purposes, then in
seventeen years, Ictinus and Callicrates completed the decorations of the Parthenon (Harper OL).
The Parthenon is made entirely of a marble from Mount Pentelicus called Pentelic marble and
stands approximately eighteen meters high. The selections made for the material of the Parthenon
were chosen with many points considered to ensure a strong and sturdy future. The Parthenon was
commissioned by Pericles sometime after Greek victories over the Persians between 490 and 480
BC (Glancey 26, 27). During the Persian Greek wars, Athens believed that Athena watched over
them and that she helped them throughout the war. The Parthenon represents the wealth, power,
society, and culture of Athens. The building of the Parthenon cost the Athenians four hundred and
sixty nine talents, which symbolized Athens as wealthy.

Biodiversity is the variety of spices within plants and animals in the environment, it is an indicator
of ecosystem health. The importance of biodiversity:
Biodiversity provides humans with food and materials (like wood) that benefiting the economy.
Biodiversity performs a variety of ecological services: from absorbing chemicals to cleaning water
and providing oxygen. Some types of animals work as fertilizers (earthworm) and water filters
(jello fish).
Biodiversity also makes it easier for the environment to adapt to changes. If specific types of
animals extinct, similar types can take their place in the environment., serve as a source of food for
another animal or be predators themselves.
Protects climate stability.
Cultural importance. A lot of extinct animals were playing huge role in religious believes in some
civilizations
Gives more medical and pharmaceutical resources. For example, some amphibians are resistant to
cancer and etc.
Scientific importance. 2. Give 3 examples of biodiversity from my presentation (what does it
include)?
Earth has a large variety of ecosystems: hot and humid

Direct Current (DC) Motors
1.0 Overview of DC Motors
A Direct Current (DC) motor is a broad classification of electric motors that operate from a direct
current (DC). Nearly all mechanical devices used in electric applications are powered by electric
motors. Motors transform electrical energy to mechanical energy. Thus, they are essential for
energy conversion in electrical machines. All types of electrical motors comprise a stationary field
commonly referred to as stator, and a rotating field (or rotor). According to Krishnan, (2010), the
mechanism of operation of DC motors is based on the interaction between electric current and the ...

Rizzoni (2004) asserts that when electrical energy is supplied to the windings perpendicular to the
direction of the magnetic field, the flowing current and the magnetic field will interact. As a result,
mechanical energy will be produced by the magnetic field, leading to motion. Fleming s Left Hand
Rule can be used to determine the direction of the motion
Figure 1: Fleming s Left Hand Rule (Rizzoni, 2004) The direction of both the magnetic field and
the current are pointed by the first and second fingers respectively. The thumb indicates the
direction in which the conductor is pushed by effects of the magnetic field (Rizzoni, 2004).
1.3 Operation Principles of a DC Motor
In order to demonstrate the operating principles of a DC motor, this paper will focus on a coil
subjected to a magnetic field with a flux density of B (Hambley et al., 2008). When a D.C voltage
is supplied to the coil, it induces current to flow through the coil. The electric current and the
magnetic field will therefore interact and create a force that pushes the coil to move in the direction
shown in Figure 2 below.
Figure 2: Torque production in a DC motor (Hambley et al., 2008)
A practical DC motor comprises several coils wound on the rotor as shown in Figure 1. The coils
are aligned in the direction of the force that induces them to rotate. The current flowing in the coil
is directly proportional to the magnetic field produced as well as the rate

Childhood is a social construct that has been weaved together by societal norms and domineering

novel Keywords for Children s Literature, she explains how the attitudes and atmosphere
surrounding childhood have vastly changed throughout history to yield the general, modern
conception of childhood. Children have been deemed adults in the Middle Ages and childhood has

Peter unveils how children encounter similar difficulties as adults do in society since children do
live in a society where there is an organized hierarchy of injustice, struggle, and real world issues.
The rivalry between groups in Neverland is explicit when the lost boys [are] out looking for Peter
[and] the pirates [are] out looking for the lost boys (Barrie 112). In Neverland this frenzy occurs
as there is a mutual disdain between the pirates and the lost boys. The lost boys are playful and
rambunctious with the presence of their leader Peter while the pirates are vexed by the boys
attitudes, especially since there [never has] been a cockier boy than Peter (91). Captain Hook also
seeks to kidnap the young girl Wendy from the lost boys so that Wendy shall be [his] mother and
fill the gap of his traumatic past with his parents (146). This tension between the lost boys and the
pirates represents the unsteadiness between conflicting social groups that naturally exist in the
world of adults. This situation also does not represent typical, innocuous play and is rather a grave
activity of fighting that the children in Neverland confidently participate in. The ubiquitous
struggle for power commonly seen in the adult world when fighting a war or striving for new

One Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Analysis
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich can be seen as a testament to
the spirit of the Russian people by exposing the suffering and struggles of the Gulag. Solzhenitsyn

Kant Duty
It begins with a presented value of intrinsic goods, through analysing the relationship between
the good will and duty. He claims there is nothing that can be held be held to be good, without
its limitations except good will itself. For example, an act of courage, can be an act of arrogance
or carelessness unless the good will is there to correct their influence on the mind. Thereby it
corrects the entire principle of action. Furthermore, the good will will is only good through its
willing, therefore it does not need an end or purpose. It is higher than any will that is brought
about by inclination and eventually the good will presents itself like a shining jewel. The aim of

Universal Law
If duty really is a concept that contains legislation for our actions, then it has to be equal amongst
all rational beings, If something is equal, it is universal.
Kant argues the will must be commanded by the principle; one must be able to will that a maxim
of our action should become a universal law. This principle is only accomplishable through the
practice of reason free from any incentive or influence, something the hypothetical imperative
cannot do. In practice, this means if genocide was a universal law, the human race would soon
become extinct, thus it is not a practical principle. Whereas acting in accordance to prolonging and
sustaining human lives is a universal law everybody should desire. Therefore, the good will is
guided by rationale.
ii.Humanity
To expand on the first formulae, the good will is made objective by humanity. Like the categorical
imperative, rational beings exist as an end in itself, they are directed toward themselves as well as
other rational beings. Therefore rational beings should not treat themselves or others as a means.
This is consistent with the examples mentioned by Kant such as the suicidal man treating himself
as a means in order to escape from his condition, or the dishonest man abusing the trust of others
through his false promises, abusing others as a means for their own financial

Compare And Contrast The French And Indian War
Deezhi Peralta Dec.1, 2017 Hour 9 The French and Indian War The French and Indian War was a
battle over a territorial dispute of the Ohio River Territory between France and Great Britain, this
had soon lead to the U.S. Revolutionary War. The war determined which country would control
North America, where the Indians assisted both countries in the fight over territory. The war
came to a compromise after nine years. Without the conflicts between Great Britain and France,
the U.S. would not have been found. It began when conflict started between the line of the British
Empire and the French Empire in the year 1754. Britain wanted to expand its territory toward the
Ohio River Valley, but the French were already settled in the area. The Ohio River Valley was a
trading route with Native Americans and other territories that was rich with many traders which
both countries wanted and needed for their empires, although the area originally belonged to the
French. In 1754, this changed because Great Britain wanted to expand their colonies and land, so
they decided to expand toward the Ohio River Valley for more trading routes with the people
around that area. They however, they did not know the French had already settled there and in their

The Influence Of Dragons On East Asian Culture
Dragons are prevalent in myths all across the world. Eastern countries in particular hold dragons
in the highest regard in their cultures. The dragons of East Asian legend have sweeping powers.
They breathe clouds, move the seasons, and control the waters of rivers, lakes, and seas. They are
linked with yang, the masculine principle of heat, light, and action, and opposed to yin, the
feminine principle of coolness, darkness, and repose. Dragons have been part of East Asian culture
for more than 4,000 years. In the religious traditions of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism, they
have been honored as sources of power and bringers of rain. (amnh.org)
Dragons hold more significance in China than nearly anywhere else in the world. They are
usually depicted as brightly colored snakes with legs that, in legend, can be as small as a garden
snake or large enough to connect heaven and earth. These dragons are connected to divine and
auspicious powers that typically control disasters related to water, such as floods or hurricanes.
These powers make dragons a symbol of strength and power among the Chinese people, enough so

At the end of his life, Beowulf went to fight a dragon which he killed and then died from his
wounds. Other legends include St. George and the dragon, who rescued a young maiden that
had been taken by a cruel and monstrous dragon, as well as many Arthurian legends. Over time
these dragons became a symbol of treachery, danger, and the unknown in Europe. Unlike in Asia
however, dragons were never as completely imbedded in the culture and minds of the people.
Tolkien s works, particularly the Hobbit, brought focus back onto a legend that was beginning to
fade. Now, modernly, dragons have become a staple of any work of fantasy. They are depicted on
television shows for children and for adults, they are in many fantasy novels, and are used in many

Working capital is the money that a company has after paying off its current liabilities and with
which it can finance its operating and working capital requirements. The higher a number the
better a company is able to pay off its debt and have cash for meeting its financial obligations.
The current ratio is used to gauge a company s ability to pay back its short term liabilities (debt
and payables) with its short term assets (cash, inventory, receivables). The higher the current
ratio, the more capable the company is of paying its obligations. A ratio under 1 suggests that the
company would be unable to pay off its obligations if they came due at that point. The current
ratio denotes the efficiency of a company s operating cycle or its ability to turn its products into
cash, which is a key requirement for business success. Quick ratio is an indicator of a company s
short term liquidity. The quick ratio measures a company s ability to meet its short term obligations
with its most liquid assets, essentially cash and cash equivalents. The higher the quick ratio, the
better the financial position of the company in terms of its ability to meet its liabilities. Debt ratio

Potassium Chloride And The Molecules Through Semipermeable...
Potassium Iodide Binds to Polysaccharide Molecules through Semipermeable Membrane
Introduction:
Diffusion is defined at the net movement of molecular substances from an area of high
concentration to an area of low concentration. Beyond that, diffusion can further be divided into
two different kinds of net movement of substance to opposing concentration gradients, dialysis and
osmosis. Dialysis is defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass
through a semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992).
When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys
ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood. It would prove to be fatal if the
kidneys failed to remove the roughly 1,500 liters of waste building up in the body (Nordqvist,
2015). This experiment mimics the nature of a selective plasma membrane and with time, monitors
to passing of substances in and out of the barrier. The end results should appear to show a color
changing chemical reaction within the more concentrated tube of 15%glucose/1%starch solution.
Initially the clear and milky appearance should transform into a black and deep purple hue from the
attachment of iodine to the sugar solution. The experiment has been conducted previously yielding
various results. External factors affecting the rate of diffusion play a part in this experiment. Heat
due to its influence on the thermodynamics of the molecular substances. Increasing

Mobile Communication Is Multi Hop Ad Hoc Systems
INTRODUCTION: The Latest advances in Wireless Communications have extended conceivable
applications from straightforward voice services in early cell systems to new incorporated
information applications. These days, numerous up to date cellular telephones are likewise
incorporated with functionalities including FM radio, advanced camera, and MP3 player. Hence,
the services upheld by mobile communications have extended from basic voice to sight and sound,
for example, video conferencing and portable gaming. These new services require a higher service
quality and also more prominent information rate. Moreover, with mobile access to the Internet, the
expanding development in information movement will further drive the requirement for higher data
transmission. Current foundations that bolster mostly voice activity are confronting an incredible
test in meeting both the transmission capacity and quality of service requests of future mobile
communication clients. For mobile communication, one concept with successful improvement is
customary single hop cell frameworks where a mobile station (MS) speaks specifically with a base
station (BS) [1]. Another idea of mobile communication is multi hop ad hoc systems, which are
infrastructure less, self sorting out and quickly deployable with no site arranging, dissimilar to
traditional cell systems. At the point when associations need to move between heterogeneous
systems for performance and high accessibility reasons, consistent

The Legacy Of Martin Luther
Martin Luther was a big deal in history. He had a big part in the reformation. Priests would take
your money by telling you that you could get rid of your sin if you paid them. Martin knew that
it was all a scam. He started going up against the priests, and telling the people that it was a scam.
You could ask for forgiveness from God on your own for free. He fought for what he believed,
and he made a good impact in history. Luther was a born in a peasant family. His father worked
hard to keep food on the table, and keep his family happy. Martin was born on November 10,
1483 in Saxony, Germany. He died on February 18, 1546 in Saxony Germany. He was a German
reformer, which is a person who works to change old practices, and beliefs. He became a lawyer
to increase his family s success. Martin got a bachelor of arts degree in 1502, and a matter of
arts in 1505. In the same year he enrolled into the instructors of law, giving martin a great look as
to being a successful, and smart man. Martin changed from being a lawyer to getting into
religion when a bad thunderstorm happened. He screamed out to the mother of virgin mary
pleading for her to save him. Martin promised her that he would become a monk if she saved his
life, and she saved his life. He had troubles becoming a monk, because he was letting down his
parents, but he kept his promise to God. His counselor told him he should get a stronger connection

Some will show objects for Egyptian mythology, including the Sphinx. We do not know if these
formations left a lasting im pressions on the Egyptians, but we know the variety of rocks helped
them survive as long as they did. While only a few places had exposed rocks, many places had a
soft layer of sandstone that was covered up by different types of limestone, which the ancients
used for building. While in Egypt, the Te thys Sea uncovered what became a great deposit of
limestone and sandstone, used to build structures. This process made stone spilt horizontally by

The Rolling Stones And The Stones
The Rolling Stones Stones, a simple concretion of earthy or mineral matter, a rock, a building

stones, a pack of random men to play music. They first started as a small measly band that soon

they also created one of the most iconic styles of music, rock and roll. The Rolling Stoneswere

gruesome political troubles. Even with some hardships and struggles their success was quickly
awarded with countless music rewards.
The Creation of the Rolling Stones The group named The Rolling Stones took a very long time
to form and it all started with the founding trio. The Rolling Stones were a rock band formed by
the famous trio of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Brian Jones. Together they recruited
musicians to their rock and roll group. The Rolling Stones Biography states that, The Rolling
Stones origins date back to the boyhood friendship of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, formed in
1957. In October 1960 Richards and Jagger ran into each other. They both noticed their enthusiasm
or the rock and roll and blues music. After the encounter Richards soon joined Little Boy Blues and

The Impact Of Multi-Ethnicity On Queer Identity
The Impact of Multi Ethnicity on Queer Identity During the interview, Hans pointed out that his
multi ethnic background has a big impact on his identity formation and his current lifestyle. In
particular, he stressed on the psychological trauma of the doubt, that it would be impossible for him
to know for certain if discriminationhas prevented him from access to tangible opportunities or
benefits: there is looming sense of did I not get this because of my lack of skill or talent or is it
because of my sexual identity and race? I think the doubt is even more pervasive and detrimental
than any one instance of explicit discrimination. He stated that this doubt is ever present, and he
often feels helpless about it, because racismand heterosexism is built in most of the societies and
cultures, and most of systemic prejudice derives from actions and ideologies that are covert and
oblique. Prejudice is dark, and idiotic, and frustrating, and pure negativity... I try not to get too
bogged down with the fact that I feel that my personal culture is working against my ultimate goals
in life.
Although he never experienced bullying or abusive relationship, he dealt with various forms of
microaggressions and subtle discrimination against his sexuality and his ethnicity throughout his
life. For example, a form of microinvalidation happens when his female friends make insensitive
comments as you don t dress well for gay guy, because this comment carries hidden insulting
message.

  • 2. The Question Of Origin Of Life The Question of Origin Life began when Allah created every living thing from water (The Koran 21:30). Allah then created the universe in six days (The Koran 25:59). These six days can be interpreted as six distinct periods or eons (Doge 143). The reason the six days can be interpreted is because of the word youm. Youm is understood as a long period of time, an era or eon. (Dodge 143). Allah created the universe and the physical earth in two days, and then used the next four days to populate it with life (Dodge 143). Once he had created everything Allah established Himself on the Throne, to oversee all of creation (Dodge 144). Unlike the gods of Christianity and Judaism Allah does not require rest (The Koran 50:38). Allah also created... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Qur an has several different answers pertaining to mankind s creation. The answers given are a blood clot (surah 96:1 2), water (surah 21:30), burned clay (surah 15:26), dust (surah 3:59), nothing (surah 19:67), earth (surah 11:61), or a drop of thick fluid (surahs 16:4, 75:37) (Caner 92). With all these differences, there is only one similarity between the biblical worldview and the Islamic worldview concerning creation. Both worldviews believe in a transcendent creator. It is almost impossible to give an understanding of origin because the origin of life is not considered important to most Muslims. This quandary supports evidence that Allah is not a personal God. He doesn t care if his followers understand their origin, instead he places their very salvation in their own hands. Out of the one hundred and two names Allah goes by not one of them is considered an intimate name (Caner 117). In contrast the Bible consistently refers to God as our father, thus presenting a more intimate creator. (Word count 519) The Question of Identity To be human is to be honored above creatures of the earth and sea (The Koran 17:70). Allah also gave man the ability to discern good from evil and freewill (Baianonie). Not only are humans able to discern right from wrong we have the potential to learn and acquire knowledge... (Bainanonie). With these abilities given by Allah this means we are responsible and accountable for everything given (Baianonie). Also, apart of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of The Movie The Revenant The Revenant is a very long and very intense movie. In the blockbuster, Leonardo DiCaprio plays Hugh Glass, a seemingly indestructible savage machine. Glass survives the impossible on more than one occasion. In three scenes in particular, Glass is put through a climatic, thrilling situation. The first scene is in a misty forest where Glass finds himself alone when he stumbles upon bear cubs and soon after is nearly mauled to death by the mother bear. He escapes death when he was able to pull out his knife to kill the bear. Consequently, he is now in critical condition and is not able to walk, move, or even talk. The next mind blowing scene, Glass just rode his horse off a cliff while a blizzard encroaches him. His horse did not survive the fall and the only thing to help Glass stay alive was his knife so he used it to gut the horse completely hollow then Glass removed all of his clothes and crawled inside the horse to wait use its body heat to protect him from the harsh snow storm. Finally, the thought to be climaxof the movie, Glass finds the man who murdered his son while he helplessly watched, and Glass kills him in a long, bloody exchange of gunshots and knife wounds and ultimately drags him in the nearby ice cold stream I believe that this action packed blockbuster that gave Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar is boring. I believe this not because it has a poor scenery or bad acting, the acting is phenomenal and the scenery and special effects are very detailed and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Adsorption Modeling Of Breakthrough Curves Adsorption modeling of breakthrough curves A successful design of a column adsorption process requires prediction of the concentration time profile or breakthrough curve for the effluent. (a,aa14, aa15, aa7, aa2). There are two widely used approaches to obtain the breakthrough curve of a given adsorption system: direct experimentation or mathematical modeling. The design of an adsorption column through experimental method provides a direct determination of the salient parameters based on the breakthrough curve. However, the extensive experimentation is usually a time consuming and economically unfeasible. (B6 ) Comparatively, mathematical modeling is simple and provides a method of estimating the column adsorption capacity without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A linear regression was applied to equation 4 and the values of No and ka were computed from the slope and intercept of the BDST plot between ln(Co/Ct 1) versus t at different adsorption parameters such as flow rate, bed height and influent adsorbate concentration. These BDST parameters were used to predict the maximum metal uptake capacity (qcal) under different process conditions and were compared with the experimental values (qexp) in relation to the estimated values of ka and No. As shown in Table 1a and b, the values ka decreased with increasing bed depth and influent metal concentration, but increase with increasing flow rates. Meanwhile, the values of No declined with the increase in bed height and flow rate. This trend can be explained on the fact that at increased bed heights more number of active sites is available for sorption to give higher total metal uptake but reduced per unit removal, whereas at increased flow rate the volume of adsorbate that entered the column was higher and caused the bed to saturate early. As with increased metal concentration, the No values were found to be increasing due to higher loading of metal on the adsorbent achieved in a short period of contact. This discussion shows that the overall kinetics of adsorption process is governed by external mass transfer. (aa26, aa7,aa14, aa27) The BDST model is valid for the describing the initial part of breakthrough curve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Han and Roman Views on Technology Han and Roman Views on Technology The Hans and Romans understood the importance of technology, but unlike the Hans, the Romans viewed anyone who worked with tools or with their hands to be a person of lowly status. The Romans only showed appreciation for technologies that could hold some benefit for the upper class. The upper class Romans thought that craftsmen, people who made a living out of making tools, was hardly an occupation that deserved any respect. The Hans appreciated the use of tools in their labor and how it could help the people. The Hans showed a great appreciation of their technological advancements, and its effect on society. The Roman attitude toward technology was that any person who worked in workshops, devoting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These tools are also sold at very high prices considering their low quality. The Han government has dominated the trade of iron, controlling the quality of tools used by the people to do work, and the quality of tools the government uses to perform its public duties, such as repair work and the building of public structures. All the previous documents used above were all in the perspective of an upper class citizen. An additional document that would have shown the attitude of the lower class citizens and the women s perspective of these technological achievements would have added authenticity to this argument. A document from the perspective of an upper class woman in Roman or Han society would show if new technologies affected their everyday work/obligations, or if technologies were solely for the benefit of men. Another source that would have been helpful would be from a lower class woman to show the similarities and differences of the work expected of lower class and upper class women. Men were dominate in both Roman and Han societies, but the attitude that the lower class men had of technology was excluded from the list of documents provided. The documents consisting of the feelings of the upper class citizens in the Han and Roman society s states that people of the lower class used tools to perform their work, but it is unknown how they personally felt about technology and its affect on them. • 6. Symbolism In William Jennings Bryan s The Wonderful... During the late 1800 s, a pervasive sense of melancholy permeated throughout the forgotten, dreary Midwestern United States. While the industrial revolution boosted the economy on the coasts, Midwestern farmers were victims of deflationary debt increases, exorbitant shipping and railroad rates, a high protective tariff, and a government that for the most part ignored them.1 Desperate circumstances moved the everyday American farmers to join together and voice their grievances. Instead of seeking federal aid or economic relief, they attempted to use the power of the ballot to achieve their goals.1 The united group of farmers used the Populist Partyas a springboard to launch their complaints and eventually got their candidate, William Jennings Bryan, nominated for the presidential election of 1896 by the Democratic Party. L. Frank Baum, a newspaper writer who lived in a small prairie town in South Dakota, experienced the populist wave firsthand, attending Bryan s famous Cross of Gold speech in Chicago, and subtly incorporated many aspects of Bryan s campaign into his children s novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.2 Despite his own claim that this novel was written solely for the entertainment of the children of today , several historians have discovered that the book clearly reflects the culture of the time period in which it was written.3 By symbolically representing the struggles of the everyday working man, Bryan s political enemies, and the campaign for free silver, Baum ... Water fluoridation is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as one of the 10 great public health achievements in the United States, because of its role in reducing tooth decay in children and tooth loss in adults (CDC 1999). Existential counselling is a philosophical form of counselling which addresses the situation of a person s life and situates the person firmly within the predictable challenges of the human condition. Existential counselling considers human living to take place within four dimensions: physical, social, psychological and spiritual. It shows each of these dimensions to be constituted like a force field, within which predictable paradoxes, tensions and dilemmas play out. Human beings can learn to deal with these tensions and conflicts more effectively by facing up to the negatives as well as the positives of their lives, including the tensions of life and death, love and hate, strength and weakness and meaning and absurdity. Reflecting on these behaviours, with the help of a psychologist, gives us insight into the reasons we chose these actions and helps us to learn from our mistakes and make better choices in the future. You do not need to be an existentialist to benefit from existential therapy; you need only a desire to be happier and a willingness to reflect upon how your choices are part of the solution. Existential Therapy is an approach to counselling that helps us to understand ourselves, other people and the world we all inhabit together. Existential Therapy helps people to build confidence that they are making good choices. Existential Therapy is not reserved solely for people who suffer from severe psychological problems; it is for everyone who is having trouble making a good decision when they experience the kind of challenges issued by life. Existential Therapy provides an opportunity to explore the world including the dreams, fantasies and spiritual dimensions of our existence. Abstract The study includes an investigation of the stresses, deflections capacity and lateral torsional buckling behavior of regular I section steel column of jib crane subjected to a axial compressive eccentric loading. The lateral torsional buckling is the main failure mode that controls the design of slender column. Different shapes of columns are proposed in this study with different cross section, web shapes and materials. Finite element analysis and experimental study are carried out on both types (i.e. Regular and proposed column) to calculate and validate results. An optimization technique is used to optimize the solution from proposed different designs. The thickness of the web and thickness of column is constant for all specimens with length 2 to 3 m and tested for 500, 750 and 1000 Kg load lifting capacity. Structural analysis is done to examine the influence of the section dimension due to axial compressive eccentric loading on column. Using the study it is observed that not only the web thickness, but also the shape of web, angle of web and sectional cross section of steel column influences the resistance to lateral torsional bucklingand bending. Nearly all mechanical devices used in electric applications are powered by electric motors. Motors transform electrical energy to mechanical energy. Thus, they are essential for energy conversion in electrical machines. All types of electrical motors comprise a stationary field commonly referred to as stator, and a rotating field (or rotor). Peter unveils how children encounter similar difficulties as adults do in society since children do live in a society where there is an organized hierarchy of injustice, struggle, and real world issues. The rivalry between groups in Neverland is explicit when the lost boys [are] out looking for Peter [and] the pirates [are] out looking for the lost boys (Barrie 112). In Neverland this frenzy occurs as there is a mutual disdain between the pirates and the lost boys. The lost boys are playful and rambunctious with the presence of their leader Peter while the pirates are vexed by the boys attitudes, especially since there [never has] been a cockier boy than Peter (91). Captain Hook also seeks to kidnap the young girl Wendy from the lost boys so that Wendy shall be [his] mother and fill the gap of his traumatic past with his parents (146). This tension between the lost boys and the pirates represents the unsteadiness between conflicting social groups that naturally exist in the world of adults. This situation also does not represent typical, innocuous play and is rather a grave activity of fighting that the children in Neverland confidently participate in. The ubiquitous struggle for power commonly seen in the adult world when fighting a war or striving for new heights in a job position is mimicked as Captain Hook attempts to steal Wendy from Peter. • 36. Kant Duty It begins with a presented value of intrinsic goods, through analysing the relationship between the good will and duty. He claims there is nothing that can be held be held to be good, without its limitations except good will itself. For example, an act of courage, can be an act of arrogance or carelessness unless the good will is there to correct their influence on the mind. Thereby it corrects the entire principle of action. Furthermore, the good will will is only good through its willing, therefore it does not need an end or purpose. It is higher than any will that is brought about by inclination and eventually the good will presents itself like a shining jewel. The aim of course is enjoying life and happiness, but reason is not best... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Universal Law If duty really is a concept that contains legislation for our actions, then it has to be equal amongst all rational beings, If something is equal, it is universal. Kant argues the will must be commanded by the principle; one must be able to will that a maxim of our action should become a universal law. This principle is only accomplishable through the practice of reason free from any incentive or influence, something the hypothetical imperative cannot do. In practice, this means if genocide was a universal law, the human race would soon become extinct, thus it is not a practical principle. Whereas acting in accordance to prolonging and sustaining human lives is a universal law everybody should desire. Therefore, the good will is guided by rationale. ii.Humanity To expand on the first formulae, the good will is made objective by humanity. Like the categorical imperative, rational beings exist as an end in itself, they are directed toward themselves as well as other rational beings. Therefore rational beings should not treat themselves or others as a means. This is consistent with the examples mentioned by Kant such as the suicidal man treating himself as a means in order to escape from his condition, or the dishonest man abusing the trust of others through his false promises, abusing others as a means for their own financial ... The war determined which country would control North America, where the Indians assisted both countries in the fight over territory. The war came to a compromise after nine years. Dialysis is defined as the separation of small molecules from large molecules as they pass through a semipermeable membrane (Koerner, 1992). When talking about dialysis, it is most often associated with the function or failure of the kidneys ability to process and rid the body of toxins from the blood.
