Essay on Right Wing Resurgence
Right Wing Resurgence In the mist of a disgruntled working class, one Austrian born man rose to
power, playing on their fears of immigrants, unemployment and globalization. By mixing social
populism, xenophobia, German nationalism with personal charisma, he was able to make his political
party one of the strongest in his nation. Many would believe that this would be a description of the
infamous dictator Adolph Hitler. Rather, it is a description of Jorg Haider, recent governor of the
Austrian state of Carinthia and former leader of the Austrian Freedom Party. Austria s freedom party
has increased it s power significantly in the last few years. No other party in Austria has more workers
among its voters. Also the Austrian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both of these parties have been able to obtain much political recognition in their countries. They also
share many of the same characteristics, as well as tactics that have allowed them to become
successful. First, both parties are lead by very charismatic leaders. The Swiss People s Party is lead by
the industrialist Christoph Blocher, while the Freedom Party is lead by Jorg Haider. Both men are
extremely charismatic and energetic. Secondly, these two parties carry much of the same policy, like
incoherent economic policies, a rejection of European integration, and ugly attacks on immigrants.
Oddly, both leaders also have similar views on WWII and the Holocaust. Christoph Blocher once
praised a book that claimed that the Holocaust never took place, while Jorg Haider has publicly
praised Hitler s employment practices, and called SS veterans patriots (UPI). Similar leaders is not the
only thing that the Freedom Party and the Swiss People s Party have in common. Both parties gain
power by playing on people s fear of losing what they have. For example, both parties claim that
immigration is taking jobs away from citizens. Austria however has 4 percent unemployment, which is
less than half of the European Average. Despite an economic downturn, Switzerland continues to be
one of the world s wealthiest nations. (UPI) While Austria and Switzerland currently have the

because of their love Mercutio had to pay the price with his life.
Scene 2 1. When the nurse tells Juliet of the fight between the three men (Tybalt,Romeo, and

Analyzing Kate Chopin s The Storm
Tremane Parker
Larisa Platt
ENG 102 02
30 September 2014
The Storm In the story, The Storm, Kate Chopin tells a reader about what had occurred during a storm
that passed by. The story goes into detail about two main characters, Alcee Laballiere and Calixta, and
the setting. Also, the other characters in the passage were Bibi, Bobinot, and Clarissa. The setting had
took place at store called Friedheimer s, and Calixta s house during a dark, stormy, and dreary day. In
addition, the story will explain about a relationship between Alcee Laballiere and Calixta in the past.
Even though Kate gets into detail of The Storm, she begins the story of Bobinot and Bibi at the
Friedheimer s store during the storm. They decided to stay at the store until the storm had passed. Bibi
is a four year old little boy, and he looked very clever. Also, Bobinot was Bibi s father. They were told
to go to Friedheimer s, a wooden store, to buy shrimp for their dinner. Bobinot explained that this
storm were somber clouds that developed in the west of part, along with a threatening roar of lighting
invading the area (Chopin, 335). While they were at Friedheimer s, they sat by the door on two empty
kegs. Bibi laid his little hand on his father s knee while they watch the storm to pass together (Chopin,
335).

between Alcee and Calixta. Calixta and Alcee did not understand any blame of engaging in an

Customer service durations in the restaurant are variable, for example, some may take 90 minutes and
some may take 60 minutes.
Opportunities
Increased capacity presents opportunities for increased profits and provides better competitiveness in
the very competitive restaurant industry.
Threats
Adding a second food preparation area may create bottleneck that defeats the purpose of reducing the
customer waiting time.
Utilizing seats in full capacity may make customers feel crowded and compromise the customers
dining experience.
The market may not need the increased capacity.
FINANCIAL ANALYSIS
Assumptions
1. All data will only apply to busy nights (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), when the restaurant is in
full capacity.
2. During the busiest hours, 6:00 to 10:00 pm, each table would seat 4 separate groups of customers
rather than 3.
3. Information from the London location are used to analyze the Waterloo location, such as an average
of 3 trips to the food preparation area during dinner, average group of 4 to 6 people spent 90 minutes
on busy nights.
Analysis between design changes versus capacity changes (see Appendix D)
A combination design of adding a second food preparation area and moving the cooking grill will
have the most impact on the capacity by increasing volume by 19%.
Analysis scenarios of design change associated with capital cost, operating expense, gross profit, and
payback time (see Appendix E).

Comparing Republic And Plato s Republic
The central idea of both philosophers writing is that the citizens of a state should preserve good, and
act justly and fairly, and their rulers should abide by the rules and regulations of the state and treat
their fellow citizens in the same way. Both philosophers claim that being good and doing good leads
to happiness the ultimate good in human life and a life connected with money, pleasure, and all sorts
of materialistic possessions is an unrealistic life. This paper will outline and further elaborate the
major similarities and differences between the way these philosophers perceive the philosophical
anthropology and the political philosophy based on their time, context, and the society.

Similarly, navigating through Plato s writings, it is conspicuous that he provides the same notion as to
how the rulers of the state should act. Plato claims that law does not make any particular class in the
city outstandingly happy but it spreads happiness throughout the city by bringing the citizens into
harmony with each other through persuasion or compulsion and through sharing the benefits with each
other. The law produces people who make use of the citizens to bind the city together; however, it
does not allow them to turn the city into the direction they desire

Chinese Immigrants In The Chinese Must Go
In The Chinese Must Go the cartoonist depicts the Chinese as running with a money bag to China
which symbolizes the American belief that Chinese laundrymen were exploiting the American
economy. The Chinese man is running from San Francisco to China with a bag of money in his hand,
which was likely earned from working in the laundry business, this can be inferred from the cleaning
tool in his arm and the stereotype of Chinese immigrants being laundrymen. This depiction makes
sense given the historical period, because the Chinese primarily labored in lower paying industries and
firms... such as domestic and laundry work. (Almaguer 171) The Chinese immigrants were subject to
lower paying professions because the whites saw the Chinese presence

Because there was a higher concentration of sucrose in the syrup compared to the sucrose solution,

Analysis of the Film The Rise of the Planet of the Apes Essay
The movie that I choose to watch is The Rise of the Planet of the Apes . In class we learned that
primates have different categories. The categories include; movement, reproduction, intelligence and
behavior patterns. In the movie, the main ape, Caesar, as well as the other primates in the movie shows
examples of these categories. Although, like most modern day movies, some behaviors and
characteristics are not true and do not relate to the material that we studied in class.
This film was made in 2011 starring James Franco as the main character, Dr. Will Rodman. The movie
takes place in San Francisco, where Will works in a laboratory hoping to discover a cure for
Alzheimer s disease. The main thought in Will s head every day, is trying ... Show more content on

Will named the baby ape Caesar, and right away he noticed how intelligent baby Caesar was. The first
day that he brought Caesar home, Caesar already knew the correct way to hold a bottle and feed
himself. By the age of three, Caesar was doing tasks that normal eight year old children would do.
Impressed with the results Will was finding from Caesar, Will takes a chance and steals some of the
ALZ 112 from the lab to bring home to Charles. After giving the shot to his father, his father quickly
recovered and no longer had any symptoms relating to Alzheimer s disease. Unfortunately the
medicine did not permanently cure Charles, years later he returned back to his old ways. When Caesar
looks outside his window, he sees Charles getting yelled at by neighbor. Protective over Charles,
Caesar runs outside and attacks the man, which resulted in Caesar being taken away from his family
and imprisoned in an ape sanctuary.
While begin in the sanctuary, Caesar along with the other apes are not treated very well. From the
mistreatment, Caesar starts to make plans about how to escape. He would draw on the walls of his
cage, and think of a route to break free. When the owners son takes his friends into the sanctuary, one
boy went over to see Caesar, this gave the intelligent ape to steal the pocket knife that the boy had
without him knowing. Caesar makes a tool that helps him to unlock his cage and free himself and the
other apes. Caesar leads the

Gomer s Argument In Hosea Prostitution
Hosea married a woman with the characteristics that God had instructed him. In Hosea 1:2 God says,
Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is
guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord So, Hosea married a woman, Gomer, who was a prostitute and
who bore 2 sons, Jazreel and Lo Ammi, and a daughter Lo Ruhamah. Gods instruction of marriage for
Hosea is suggestive of the fact that Gomer was a prostitute because God describes her as a
promiscuous and an adulterous woman. Further indication that may suggest that Gomer was a
prostitute in Hosea 3:3 where Hosea says, ...you must not be a prostitute...
I believe that the woman in Hosea 3 is in fact Gomer. This is because in Hosea 3:1 the Lord says,

Given the Position of Secretary of the State
Given the position of Secretary of the State, I would lead the operations of international relations,
diplomatic missions, foreign policy of the United States, and other diplomatic efforts. (U.S.

recommendations would be to bring the troops home, as a sign that we are moving in the direction of
becoming a peaceful nation. Given that we have a large military overseas it would send a message that
we are willing to start negotiating peacefully and not forcefully. In 2007, the research from the
Worldwide Network of US Military Bases: The Global Deployment of US Military Personnel revealed
that personnel accumulated 325,000 in foreign countries not including the wars in Iraq and
Afghanistan (Dufour, 2007). The numbers are staggering:
800 in Africa, 97,000 in Asia (excluding the Middle East and Central Asia), 40,258 in South Korea,
40,045 in Japan, 491 at the Diego Garcia Base in the Indian Ocean, 100 in the Philippines, 196 in
Singapore, 113 in Thailand, 200 in Australia, and 16,601 Afloat. In Europe, there are 116,000 US
military personnel including 75,603 who are stationed in Germany. In Central Asia about 1,000 are
stationed at the Ganci (Manas) Air Base in Kyrgyzstan and 38 are located at Kritsanisi, in Georgia,

The Destructiveness Of The Slave Trade
ATIENZA, Rizsa Mae 03 October 2015 Fall 2015 HIST 177 Primary Document Analysis The
Destructiveness of the Slave Trade Olaudah Equiano begins the narrative by describing his home. He
paints for his audience a charming, very fruitful picture of his province Essaka. It was a place where
all the neighborhood children would come together and play whilst their parents were away laboring
in the fields. He recalls being taught by his mother how to defend himself. They would practice
shooting and throwing javelins all the ways of their greatest warriors. It was to his utter dismay
however; that he would never again be able to relive those moments, for he and his sister had been
captured. He stated that an end was put to his happiness the day they were kidnapped. He goes on to
speak of the days following the abduction, and how he and his sister tried to resist and break free but
to no avail. The little comfort they found was in each other, but it was not long before they too were
forced to separate. Olaudah s narrative shines light on the resistance of many African captives while
sharing his very own experience and the resentment he felt towards the hostile and desensitizing slave
trade. Early in the passage Olaudah makes a comparison of his people to the Jews. He lists the
similarities in their cultural practices, such as: circumcision, feasting, and the naming of their children
after special events or circumstances. His purpose in doing this was to legitimize his people by

Big Brother s Government
The blatant evils of an all controlling government are spelled out by George Orwell in his novel, 1984,
in an effort to push his agenda against totalitarianism. Orwell offers a look into a future governed by
dictators. He points out the exaggeratingly blind faith people have in following the convention,
turning them into sheep to be easily preyed on by a power hungry government. So long it will please
Big Brother, the ruling government in the plot, the public welcomes around the clock surveillance of
their every action and thought, extreme rationing for an unproved war, absolute restrictions on all
relationships, a forced nationalism and the most minimal quality of life. George Orwell challenges this

The author created an alternate dimension where the future was a nightmare: being watched at all
times, no private moments, and no ties to anyone except Big Brother were allowed. 1984 is an
endeavor by Orwell to make the public face their reality head on, to make them realize that they are
capable of choosing their way of life. Choosing powerful themes, he wants to awaken primal emotions
in his audience; he wants them to struggle under the finger of Big Brother and not be tolerant of such
dictatorship. Orwell needs people to think and decide for themselves what they want in life. He doesn
t want to them to follow submissively but guide and construct their own future by any means

Dorothea E. Orem is a nurse from the United States who greatly contributed to nursing theory in the

Analysis Of Richard Rodriguez s A Stranger And Strange...
Comparative Analysis
Over the past month, we have been studying the concept of reading and writing in different
communities. To assess this, we have read two different texts. Richard Rodriguez s the achievement of
desire , from his autobiography Hunger of Memory ; and Lucille McCarthy s A Stranger in Strange
Lands: A College Student Writing across the Curriculum from Research in the Teaching of English .
Both answer key questions regarding what it takes to become a great reader and writer, however, from
the reading that I have done, each one only answers one part of the question. Rodriguez s main focus
is in the aspect of reading, whereas McCarthy mainly focuses on the writing portion. Both do a decent
job of analyzing and putting forth a view of how they believe a person can best perform in these
environments. This then allows us to use their concepts and create our own version, based on their
points of view. But why should we care? Most people at this level of academia will have developed a
system of writing that works for them, and will have a difficult time breaking from it if they re process
doesn t meet the criteria that Rodriguez, and McCarthy put forth. The reason it s so important is
because of implications these ideas have. Both authors put forth concepts that are indirectly related to
one another and that are highly beneficial to all who will apply them. They will force you to conform
to new environments in order to succeed, this in turn will make you more

Comparing Christianity And Islam
Christianity and Islam are both well known and respected religions, whose teachings share many
similarities as well as many differences. First we are going to discuss Christianity and their beliefs.
The word Christians is defined as a follower or disciples of Jesus Christ. According to The Bible,
Jesus Christ was born from Marry, who was a virgin, this was only made possible by the Holy Spirit.
Therefore he was not just man, but he was also God at once. In The Bible it is written in Matthew
1:23, The virgin will be pregnant. She will have a son, and they will name him Immanuel , which
means, God is with us. Jesus Christ, God and the Holy Spirit are three in one, known as the trinity.
Christians believe that God sent Jesus Christ to save ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Angels, which are defined as unseen beings who carry out Gods orders throughout the universe.
Gabriel the angel who came to visit Muhammad is a key figure in Christianity and Islam. We can go
all the way to the beginning, when sin was first developed, when Adam disobeyed God and cursed all
of man with death. Christians and Muslims believe that starting with Adam, God appointed
messengers, or prophets, throughout history to spread God s word and to teach the world about him.
Another thing they agree upon is judgement day and the hereafter life. They believe that when
judgment day comes that God will come back and Judge everyone, humans will be judged for their
actions on earth and be held accountable and those who rejected him will be sent to hell, which brings
me to the Ten Commandments, which are ten moral laws.
Though the Ten Commandments are not specified in the Quran, nine of the Ten Commandments are
quoted throughout the Quran. For example, the first pillar and the first commandment start with there
is only one, God, only worship that God. Another important thing that they have in common is they
both worship the God of Abraham. They both believe in Satan. Though their beliefs share similarities,
they also have differences as

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
A diagnostic medical sonographer who specializes in obstetric sonography is able to capture the
images of a fetus inside the mother s uterus. This type of sonography is used to monitor the growth
and development of the fetus as well as its health. Imagine seeing a parent s joyful expression towards
one another when they hear the sound of their baby s heartbeat for the first time. Or to witness their
smiles from ear to ear when they get to see their baby move and wiggle about inside the mother over
the ultrasound screen. This special moment is something that an obstetric sonographer has the pleasure
of witnessing every day. Pursuing an education is important when it comes to being successful at a
career. To become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, it is essential to graduate high school and
college, taking all the required classes that are necessary. High school classes that are most beneficial
to students wanting to become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer are classes in anatomy, physiology,
and physics (Kriegh, Chaylene). To become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, a college degree is
needed. It usually takes four to six years to complete a bachelor s or master s degree in sonography
(Hiltgen, Lisa). The first two years of college are focused on completing an associate s degree in an

As the revolutionary time period continued to surge, the Haitian revolted against the French as giving
way for political independence and the freedom of the inhabitants, however the economy diminished
for many countries did not want to trade with the Haitians. With the success in the Haitian revolution,
the Haitians gained political freedom from the French and created their own government in 1804. Not
only did the Haitians gain political freedom, but they also abolished slavery for the citizens and gained
the right to be a free man and a citizen. Since the slave revolution succeed, many countries blocked

for the slaves under their rule. The revolution leaders gathered to affirm their commitment to one

Frank Sinatra Success
No one will argue against Frank Sinatra s success in the music industry. An Academy Award winner,
11 time Grammy winner, and a Peabody recipient, Frank Sinatra led what many consider a successful
life. Although he died wealthy, married, and famous, one must wonder if Frank Sinatra was truly
happy? Sinatra was known for mood swings which often resulted in fights, and had attempted suicide
multiple times ( 8 Things you didn t Know about Frank Sinatra ). Just because Frank Sinatra was
outwardly successful, does not mean he was happy. Many believe that success is rooted within
monetary gain. That to be wealthy is to be successful, or to be powerful, but I believe that holistic
success has little to do with one s net worth but rather one s happiness. By extension, success and
happiness do not directly correlate. Success is not necessarily monetary gain or popularity, but rather
self fulfillment and happiness with one s achievements and choices.
As the 19th century English poet, Robert Browning, puts it, Better have failed in the high aim, As
I/Than vulgarly in the low aim succeed . In other words, Browning believes that it is more important
to fight for achievements that do not only better oneself, but effect change on a deeper level are more
honorable, in contrast to the quest for personal gratification. The secular pursuit of wealth or success

problem, China has promoted policies with the intent of slowing down the growth rate of that nation s
approximately 1.3 billion people. The population policies that are be ing adopted raise fundamental
issues concerning human rights. Does a government have the right to place limits on the size of the
family through official policies? The answer to that question is No! The Peoples Republic of China s

Conclusion
China s official policy concerning the size of the family by its mere existence is a viola tion of basic
human rights an human reproductive rights that been reaffirmed throughout human history and is
becoming an international norm. Furthermore, it is unlikely that China s official policy regarding
family size will go away; more than likely the current policy will be replaced by another of similar

Authors Final Thoughts
I have seen firsthand the effects of China s, One Child policy. I was in China over the summer of 2015
attending a summer camp sponsored by the Confucius Institute at CCD on the campus of The
University of Jinan. I encountered with a lot of students my age and I noticed that the majority of them
are an only child with an exception of one who had two other siblings; meaning that the family had to
pay the government for two extra children. The students and I were talking about our families and I
mentioned that I have three other siblings and their reaction was that of shock due to coming from a

What would happen without the whales? Would the sea life die? Having a bad environment? There are
so many questions that what would be the effects without whales. People have been whaling for a long

made to protect the whales and stop whaling for commercial. Anti whaling activists ban whaling

The research showed that whales contribute important nutrients and they are heart on marine food

Descartes And Descartes s Theories Of Skepticism And...
Every person has a unique answer to so called life questions, but experts like Blaise Pascal and Rene
Descartes have examined and reasoned with the norms of the enlightenment era. The theologians and
philosophers during that time have produced such popular works that they have been used as a
foundation for reason today. In Pascal s Pensees, and Descartes Discourse on Method, they take steps
to examining and reflecting on their own answers to life questions. If Pascal and Descartes conversed
with each other about skepticism and searching for the truth, their approaches would be different and
highly critical of each other, but their conclusions would be the same.
A life question is one that produces an answer entirely dependent on the individual. Descartes wrote a
Discourse on Method, which is his philosophy on how to answer such questions. Pascal wrote
Pensees, which is his thought process on how to answer them as well. Both Pascal and Descartes
address the issue of skepticism in opposing ways. Descartes, as a skeptic, produces a thinking process
to analyze doubt until the truth is found. Pascal takes a more critical approach to skeptics and reveals
that a genuine skeptic has never existed. A skeptics argument to find one s purpose through natural
reason is not possible, but that God will give you faith through your heart, according to Pascal.
Descartes begins his journey for reason by reaching an intense state of thought. By locking himself in
a room, he landed on a

Thalidomide Lab Report
Thalidomide is a drug, which has the molecular formula of C13H10N2O4, it is made up of a pair of
optical isomers. Optical isomers are two or more forms of a compound that have the same structure
but are mirror images of each other. They have identical physical and chemical properties. They differ
in how they react with different chiral molecules (a carbon attached to four different types of atoms.
The isomers are extremely difficult to separate. Thalidomide was first synthesized by reaction of N
phthaloyl glutamic acid anhydride (III) with ammonia or urea at high temperatures. The reaction can

Lydia Litvyak Biography
Lydia Litvyak was a Russian female pilot during World War II. She was one of the few brave women
to fight in the war. Lydia paved the way for many women to become part of battle and she proved that
fighting wasn t just for men. Litvyak defied the odds and became one of the few female pilots during
the nineteen thirties and nineteen forties. Even though Litvyak lived a short life of only twenty one
years, she was and still is a inspiration to women around the world.
Litvyak was born in Moscow, Russia on August 18, 1921 into a Jewish family. She began flying at age
fourteen and fell in love with it. At just fifteen, she performed her first solo flight. Soon after, she
graduated from Kherson Military Flying School. By the time the German Soviet War had begun, she
had already trained forty five pilots. She was one of very few women to pilot during the second World
War. Considering her religion being Jewish, it was quite an accomplishment to be a female pilot

The Process Of Mitosis And The Function Of Chromosomes,...

The process of mitosis is one performed millions of times a day by every living thing. Each of these
cells contains the blueprints of our bodies, which are scientifically known as chromosomes, genes, and
DNA. The purpose of this paper is to inform people about the process of mitosis, and to teach people
about the function of chromosomes, genes and DNA, and the relation between one another.
The process of mitosis is a five step process that starts from just a single cell. Every minute of
everyday, cells are dying, and in order for us to stay alive and functioning they must be replaced. For
example, if you get a cut on your hand, cells die. In order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Half of the chromosomes go to one side and half go to the other. When the chromosomes are on either
side telophase begins. Telophase is when the division is almost done. The cell membrane closes and
splits in two. From this you get two different cells. The process is complete... for now. Interphase is
when a cell is in it s resting state. The cell is just going about its normal business and getting ready for
another cell division that is soon to come.
The process of mitosis is a fascinating process which occurs when a cell needs to split into two child
cells. The process happens all the time as we grow, get injured, and need cells to repair our body, or
just to replace cells that have died.
Chromosomes, genes, and DNA are all connected. Each goes into each other like russian nesting dolls.
You start with the human body, inside the human body you have trillions of cells, which all contain
nuclei. Inside the nuclei are twenty three pairs of chromosomes, forty six total. Coiled inside each of
these chromosomes is DNA, and the DNA is made up of genes.
Every cell has different organelles, and these organelles eliminate waste and produce energy. The cell
nucleus is an organelle, and it is here that we find chromosomes. Imagine chromosomes like a
briefcase carrying the blueprints of life. Chromosomes are an outer casing for DNA, and they are the
ones who carry all of the information related to our bodies composition

The Labeling Theory In The Criminal Justice System
Labeling theory argues that people tend to identify themselves and behave in ways that reflect how
others label them. The behavior of one individual will influence and is influenced by the audience s
reaction; while at the same time, the audience s reaction will affect one s self perception, and in turn,
influences his behavior (shown as below). According to this theory, an individual s self image is
actually constructed of ideas about what he/she thinks others are thinking about him/her. Human
behavior is the result of meanings created by the social interaction of conversation, both real and
imaginary (Mead, 1934; Macionis, 2012). In other words, according to the labeling theory, if an
individual believes others think he is delinquent, then the chance is, he will regard self as delinquent
as well, and make more delinquent movements. Therefore, the effect of punishment is negative
according to the labeling theory. The individuals who were convicted and sent to the prison will be
labeled as the felony and as the consequence, they will gradually accept this recognition and see
themselves as the criminals who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deterrence is the primary justification for punishment. In the practice, this deterrence centric
philosophy serves as the fundamental principle for many criminal justice systems in the U.S., no

hypotheses of the deterrence theory are that crime can be prevented when punishment is more
significant than the perceived benefits, and the punishment should be swift, certain, and severe.
Generally, there are two types of the deterrence, one is general deterrence, which emphasized on the
impact of punishment on the general population; while the other one is specific deterrence, which uses
punishment to reduce recidivism (Stafford and Warr,

Compare And Contrast Superman Vs Batman
Who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman? is a question that has dated back to the
creation of both characters. Starting with the launch of the New 52 event, DC Comics revamped their
entire comic line rewriting the history and abilities of their characters. I will be focusing on the state of
both Superman and Batman as they exist after the New 52. While many would argue that Batman
could outsmart Superman, I would argue that Superman s overall strength and previous history

Karen Sternheimer Media Violence Does Not Cause Youth...
Over the last decade, media has taken over the majority of the world through twenty four hour
coverage, various television shows and movies, and endless advertisements. There is no way to escape
the media, especially the younger generations. Because of the constant coverage, some violence may
be covered on the news, in video games, or entertainment. Some believe that the violence brainwashes
younger generations and causes them to mirror that cruelty. In Media Violence Does Not Cause Youth

In her introduction, she ensure her readers that she is not biased by revealing that she has been accused
of only challenging the media violence connection because [she] is secretly funded by the

obvious she is trying to build her ethos by saying this but with her background as a lecturer in the
Department of Sociology, she does not need to address this. Beginning with this puts a damper on her
ethos until she established them again with the presented assumptions and rebuttals. Another problem
found was one assumption made: we seldom hear public outcry about the declining morals of adults
(Sternheimer, 2010). Not everyone has the same morals, so to say that adult morals are declining is not
sound; someone, who has different morals, may not see it as that much of a decrease. Also, there are
many counterarguments that the other side could come back with to prove that there is public outcry
about the violence committed by adults. Overall, though, Sternheimer s argument is well thought out

The Complete Maus By Art Spiegelman
The Holocaust was a genocide led by Adolf Hitler in the 1930 s and 40 s that took the lives of between
six and eleven million people. The graphic novel, The Complete Maus, written by Art Spiegelman,
follows a father and son discussing and inscribing the story of the father s struggle through the
Holocaust. Vladek Spiegelman uses his skills and wit to avoid the same fate as roughly six million
other Jews. His son, Artie, is having his father recount his story so he can write it down and preserve it
as a piece of history. He uses the format of the graphic novel to provoke emotion and truly display
what life was like for Jews during this time. Spiegelman uses icons, bleeds, and elements of
scrapbooking throughout the text, seen in the men hanging imagery on page 85. These techniques, in
one moment of interdependence, signify events to come, the looming presence of the Nazis, and the
long struggle for Vladek ahead.
The men hanging for selling items on the black market is an important moment textually and visually
that signifies Vladek s realization that the Nazi s would not tolerate people disobeying their rules and
that there would be deadly consequences. The text in this scene describes that four men have been
taken for dealing without coupons and in the same frame Vladek s present time words say, I did much
business with Cohn! (Spiegelman 85). The middle panel, the visual representation of the four men
hanging bleeding into the page, creates a feeling for the reader that

Ability s Inability (Rough Draft)
When considering Christian allegories that have been written through the years, one has stood out
from the rest. This piece of literature has stood the test of time and remained beloved by many readers.
In Class Formation, Politics, Structures of Feeling Geoff Eley states Pilgrim s Progress is, with Rights
of Man, one of the two foundational texts of the English working class movement: Bunyan and Paine,
with Cobbett and Owen, contributed most to the stock of ideas and attitudes which make up the raw
material of the movement from 1790 1850 (Eley 217). The Pilgrim s Progress was written by John
Bunyan in February of 1678. At the time, Bunyan titled it The Pilgrim s Progress from This World to
That Which Is to Come; Delivered under the Similitude of a Dream . In modern publications of the
work, Bunyan s sequel to the work titled simply Pilgrim s Progress, Part II has been added at the end
of the original tale. Although the two tales were not originally published back to back, reading them
one after the other shows the striking differences between them. Bunyan specifically used different
events, people, and circumstance in the two different parts to symbolically show how Christian life
can vary greatly depending upon the individual.
John Bunyan s readers wanted the story in The Pilgrim s Progress to continue beyond the original tale.
Two years after publishing the original story, Bunyan wrote his first sequel to The Pilgrim s Progress

Why aren t they the same thing?

Both kinds of plans encourage you to use preventive care. But health insurance is more about paying
for unforeseen problems. Dental insurance is more about regular care and prevention.
With most cases, preventive dental care is free. In most health insurance plans, preventive care often

You can t get X rays every month. But you can still get routine care like X rays and cleanings without

Health insurance is required under ACA; dental care is not. The Affordable Care Act made health

Although I personally love the smell of a new book, I agree that there must be a better way to publish
these books. Perhaps electronic text is that way. Rogers certainly believes so. The Internet presents all
the elements needed for a true reinvention and renaissance of book publishing (Rogers). If books were
distributed on the web, paper would not be wasted, and publishers would not be taking a risk because
the copies not sold would never have actually been printed they simply would never have been
downloaded. I believe that the future of e books is an exciting area to explore.
There are others who see e books as more threatening than exciting. They believe that e books will
one day snuff out current book publishing and that all books will have to be read off of a computer. It
is not only books that those offended by electronic text are worried about. They are worried about
newspapers and periodicals as well. Nicholas Baker is one of those offended. He writes in his book

  • 2. Essay on Right Wing Resurgence Right Wing Resurgence In the mist of a disgruntled working class, one Austrian born man rose to power, playing on their fears of immigrants, unemployment and globalization. By mixing social populism, xenophobia, German nationalism with personal charisma, he was able to make his political party one of the strongest in his nation. Many would believe that this would be a description of the infamous dictator Adolph Hitler. Rather, it is a description of Jorg Haider, recent governor of the Austrian state of Carinthia and former leader of the Austrian Freedom Party. Austria s freedom party has increased it s power significantly in the last few years. No other party in Austria has more workers among its voters. Also the Austrian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of these parties have been able to obtain much political recognition in their countries. They also share many of the same characteristics, as well as tactics that have allowed them to become successful. First, both parties are lead by very charismatic leaders. The Swiss People s Party is lead by the industrialist Christoph Blocher, while the Freedom Party is lead by Jorg Haider. Both men are extremely charismatic and energetic. Secondly, these two parties carry much of the same policy, like incoherent economic policies, a rejection of European integration, and ugly attacks on immigrants. Oddly, both leaders also have similar views on WWII and the Holocaust. Christoph Blocher once praised a book that claimed that the Holocaust never took place, while Jorg Haider has publicly praised Hitler s employment practices, and called SS veterans patriots (UPI). Similar leaders is not the only thing that the Freedom Party and the Swiss People s Party have in common. Both parties gain power by playing on people s fear of losing what they have. For example, both parties claim that immigration is taking jobs away from citizens. Austria however has 4 percent unemployment, which is less than half of the European Average. Despite an economic downturn, Switzerland continues to be one of the world s wealthiest nations. (UPI) While Austria and Switzerland currently have the strongest radical ... The Destructiveness Of The Slave Trade ATIENZA, Rizsa Mae 03 October 2015 Fall 2015 HIST 177 Primary Document Analysis The Destructiveness of the Slave Trade Olaudah Equiano begins the narrative by describing his home. He paints for his audience a charming, very fruitful picture of his province Essaka. It was a place where all the neighborhood children would come together and play whilst their parents were away laboring in the fields. He recalls being taught by his mother how to defend himself. They would practice shooting and throwing javelins all the ways of their greatest warriors. It was to his utter dismay however; that he would never again be able to relive those moments, for he and his sister had been captured. He stated that an end was put to his happiness the day they were kidnapped. He goes on to speak of the days following the abduction, and how he and his sister tried to resist and break free but to no avail. The little comfort they found was in each other, but it was not long before they too were forced to separate. Olaudah s narrative shines light on the resistance of many African captives while sharing his very own experience and the resentment he felt towards the hostile and desensitizing slave trade. Early in the passage Olaudah makes a comparison of his people to the Jews. He lists the similarities in their cultural practices, such as: circumcision, feasting, and the naming of their children after special events or circumstances. Every person has a unique answer to so called life questions, but experts like Blaise Pascal and Rene Descartes have examined and reasoned with the norms of the enlightenment era. The theologians and philosophers during that time have produced such popular works that they have been used as a foundation for reason today. In Pascal s Pensees, and Descartes Discourse on Method, they take steps to examining and reflecting on their own answers to life questions. If Pascal and Descartes conversed with each other about skepticism and searching for the truth, their approaches would be different and highly critical of each other, but their conclusions would be the same. A life question is one that produces an answer entirely dependent on the individual. Descartes wrote a Discourse on Method, which is his philosophy on how to answer such questions. Pascal wrote Pensees, which is his thought process on how to answer them as well. Both Pascal and Descartes address the issue of skepticism in opposing ways. Descartes, as a skeptic, produces a thinking process to analyze doubt until the truth is found. Pascal takes a more critical approach to skeptics and reveals that a genuine skeptic has never existed. The cell is just going about its normal business and getting ready for another cell division that is soon to come. The process of mitosis is a fascinating process which occurs when a cell needs to split into two child cells. The process happens all the time as we grow, get injured, and need cells to repair our body, or just to replace cells that have died. Chromosomes, genes, and DNA are all connected. Each goes into each other like russian nesting dolls. You start with the human body, inside the human body you have trillions of cells, which all contain nuclei. Inside the nuclei are twenty three pairs of chromosomes, forty six total. Coiled inside each of these chromosomes is DNA, and the DNA is made up of genes. Every cell has different organelles, and these organelles eliminate waste and produce energy. The cell nucleus is an organelle, and it is here that we find chromosomes. • 30. The Labeling Theory In The Criminal Justice System Labeling theory argues that people tend to identify themselves and behave in ways that reflect how others label them. The behavior of one individual will influence and is influenced by the audience s reaction; while at the same time, the audience s reaction will affect one s self perception, and in turn, influences his behavior (shown as below). According to this theory, an individual s self image is actually constructed of ideas about what he/she thinks others are thinking about him/her. Human behavior is the result of meanings created by the social interaction of conversation, both real and imaginary (Mead, 1934; Macionis, 2012). In other words, according to the labeling theory, if an individual believes others think he is delinquent, then the chance is, he will regard self as delinquent as well, and make more delinquent movements. Therefore, the effect of punishment is negative according to the labeling theory. The individuals who were convicted and sent to the prison will be labeled as the felony and as the consequence, they will gradually accept this recognition and see themselves as the criminals who ... • 31. Compare And Contrast Superman Vs Batman Who would win in a fight between Superman and Batman? is a question that has dated back to the creation of both characters. Starting with the launch of the New 52 event, DC Comics revamped their entire comic line rewriting the history and abilities of their characters. I will be focusing on the state of both Superman and Batman as they exist after the New 52. While many would argue that Batman could outsmart Superman, I would argue that Superman s overall strength and previous history fighting Batman would suggest Superman would win. When it comes to pure unadulterated power Superman is undoubtedly stronger than Batman. Superman possess immense strength, enough to wield a fifty ton semi truck like a baseball bat (Johns). He wears body armor and has other forms of protection but underneath it all he is still a human susceptible to injury and illness. In his contingency plans for the Justice League he includes a plan that could be used to defeat him, which involves distracting him with thoughts of his parents or taking hostages. Batman, like Superman, has a self imposed aversion to killing, however, he is not forced to show the same level of restraint to meet this rule as Superman. Encounters between Superman and Batman have happened many times over the years for a variety of reasons. In examining the history of the battles I will be focusing on the main Earth 1 universe, and only events that occurred after the New 52 reboot event. Over the last decade, media has taken over the majority of the world through twenty four hour coverage, various television shows and movies, and endless advertisements. There is no way to escape the media, especially the younger generations. Because of the constant coverage, some violence may be covered on the news, in video games, or entertainment. Some believe that the violence brainwashes younger generations and causes them to mirror that cruelty. In Media Violence Does Not Cause Youth Violence, Karen Sternheimer argues the opposite. It is obvious she is trying to build her ethos by saying this but with her background as a lecturer in the Department of Sociology, she does not need to address this. Beginning with this puts a damper on her ethos until she established them again with the presented assumptions and rebuttals. Another problem found was one assumption made: we seldom hear public outcry about the declining morals of adults (Sternheimer, 2010). Not everyone has the same morals, so to say that adult morals are declining is not sound; someone, who has different morals, may not see it as that much of a decrease. Also, there are many counterarguments that the other side could come back with to prove that there is public outcry about the violence committed by adults. • 34. The Complete Maus By Art Spiegelman The Holocaust was a genocide led by Adolf Hitler in the 1930 s and 40 s that took the lives of between six and eleven million people. The graphic novel, The Complete Maus, written by Art Spiegelman, follows a father and son discussing and inscribing the story of the father s struggle through the Holocaust. Vladek Spiegelman uses his skills and wit to avoid the same fate as roughly six million other Jews. His son, Artie, is having his father recount his story so he can write it down and preserve it as a piece of history. He uses the format of the graphic novel to provoke emotion and truly display what life was like for Jews during this time. Spiegelman uses icons, bleeds, and elements of scrapbooking throughout the text, seen in the men hanging imagery on page 85. These techniques, in one moment of interdependence, signify events to come, the looming presence of the Nazis, and the long struggle for Vladek ahead. The men hanging for selling items on the black market is an important moment textually and visually that signifies Vladek s realization that the Nazi s would not tolerate people disobeying their rules and that there would be deadly consequences. The text in this scene describes that four men have been taken for dealing without coupons and in the same frame Vladek s present time words say, I did much business with Cohn! (Spiegelman 85). This piece of literature has stood the test of time and remained beloved by many readers. In Class Formation, Politics, Structures of Feeling Geoff Eley states Pilgrim s Progress is, with Rights of Man, one of the two foundational texts of the English working class movement: Bunyan and Paine, with Cobbett and Owen, contributed most to the stock of ideas and attitudes which make up the raw material of the movement from 1790 1850 (Eley 217). The Pilgrim s Progress was written by John Bunyan in February of 1678. At the time, Bunyan titled it The Pilgrim s Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come; Delivered under the Similitude of a Dream . In modern publications of the work, Bunyan s sequel to the work titled simply Pilgrim s Progress, Part II has been added at the end of the original tale. Although the two tales were not originally published back to back, reading them one after the other shows the striking differences between them. Bunyan specifically used different events, people, and circumstance in the two different parts to symbolically show how Christian life can vary greatly depending upon the individual. John Bunyan s readers wanted the story in The Pilgrim s Progress to continue beyond the original tale. If books were distributed on the web, paper would not be wasted, and publishers would not be taking a risk because the copies not sold would never have actually been printed they simply would never have been downloaded. I believe that the future of e books is an exciting area to explore. There are others who see e books as more threatening than exciting. They believe that e books will one day snuff out current book publishing and that all books will have to be read off of a computer.
