Threat To The Mojave Desert
A current threat to the Mojave desert is its renewable energy sources, or windmills as people most
know them as. About 50,000 acres of desert tortoise habitat has been built over, mostly in California.
Dunes which house many Mojave Fringe toed lizards have been impacted, as well as windmills that
have been built in the way of golden eagle habitats. This causes many collision between the birds, a
threat that many of them face. Many of these renewable energy sources people are able to see heading
down to Palm Springs or getting on the freeway to LA. A large area of the desert was plowed and
flattened out for solar panels destroying many homes for animals. More and more windmills are also

The Opposite Sex Is A Necessity
The opposite sex is a necessity in our lives. If we did not need them, none of us would be here right
now, literally. By nature, we need someone else in our lives, be it a male or female, and be it friends,
significant others, and family of the opposite sex. We need each other for company, support, and
contentment.
Men and women, on their own, are very strong individuals. They can be happy and have a fulfilling
life individually AT times, but not all the time. Single people go to clubs, they hook up and have one
night stands with their opposite sex. What does this behavior show? It shows that women have a need
for men, and men have a need for women. It shows they need each other s company, even if it is for a
couple of hours. Everyone needs company; loneliness is a very sad state to be in. Think about being
lonely, and automatically your face expression turns neutral or maybe it turns sad, it does not bring
happiness or fulfillment. Yes, sometimes one needs some alone time, but to making it a routine that
calls for misery. Even people that are part of the LBGT community need the opposite sex, maybe not
as a partner but as friends and family. When these people confess their attraction to the same sex, they
wish for their friends and family, male and female, to accept them. Living a happy and fulfilling life
with the opposite sex does not necessarily mean being with a boyfriend or girlfriend in the sense of
being in an intimate relationship. It means fathers,

Persuasive Essay On March Madness
4 Reasons Why You Should Watch March Madness
When it comes to March Madness, like most things, there are those who get it and those who don t.
However, unlike other annual sports events, there is more to March Madness than meets the eye. For
those who have no plans of watching the upcoming March Madness, here are four reasons why you
should.
The pressure
With most sports, teams have plenty of chances to compete before they are kicked out of a
tournament. With NCAA March Madness, on the other hand, players only get one shot at the game
after which they are sent home. That kind of pressure is what makes it so amazing. It is a do or die
moment, and they battle it out with all they ve got. It is nerve racking to watch the games, especially
since any of the teams can be winners. The nerves, pressure, and adrenaline rush are a definite reason
why you should watch the event.
The brackets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Picking out brackets is such a huge deal, Trump received criticism for refusing to do so on ESPN like
his predecessor. Brackets are a lively way for fans to get involved with the game without having to go
to the actual matches or playing in the games. While some people do this professionally to earn some
money, most people do it for fun and the spirit of the game. There s something very thrilling about
watching your predictions come true just as you predicted they would.
The passion
Unlike professional basketball like in the NBA, NCAA March Madness is played by college students
for nothing but the glory of the game. Young people come together in the spirit of sportsmanship and
play to their heart s content. In this games, the players don t get paid, and you only get one shot at
every turn. Nevertheless, they come out and play with everything they have. If not for the game itself,
you should watch March Madness to admire the passion and dedication of the players.

Persuasive Track Essay
After a long, challenging, and hopefully scenic walk, what better way to relax than by rewarding
yourself with some of the most stunning natural scenery in the world? But some vistas can t be
explored entirely by walking alone. One of these, though, should be a destination on every journey
aiming to witness as much of the landscape as possible in New Zealand. Walking near to the coast,
ramblers can discover sites not normally associated with walking, such as Milford Sound and
Doubtful Sound, along the famous Milford Track. Walking the Milford Track Milford Track, New
Zealand s most famous tramping route, is commonly known as the finest walk in the world , spanning
over fifty kilometres from Lake Te Anau to the fjord of Milford Sound. It makes a huge difference
when you decide to embark on your journey across New Zealand; walking during the peak season (of
late October to late April) is strictly regulated, with no more than ninety walkers allowed to start the
trail per day, and a time limit of four days to complete the track, moving northwards only. It is
definitely a challenging trek, but it s safer than the off season when some bridges over wetland
sections are removed to prevent damage. But walking the trail rewards a persistent explorer with

Firm s Failure Wall Lets Workers Learn From Their Mistakes
In Nita Lelyveld s, Malibu Firm s Failure Wall Lets Workers Learn from their Mistakes, she asks if we
would be able to write our failures for everyone to see, including a boss. She talks about Jeff Stibel, a
chief executive of Dun Bradstreet, who has a Failure Wall that he found more useful and educational.
Stibel wanted to encourage creative risk by embracing failures and the lessons that come with it.
Lelyveld s conclusion was that acknowledging mistakes helps us feel less fear about mistakes and
encourages risk taking, creatively and personally. I couldn t agree more with what Lelyveld had to say.

I was the person who bended the needles at a specific angle and covered them with a plastic top. It
was my first week and I was learning very quickly but I had gotten a little cocky and tried to do
everything too fast. My shift after lunch had just started and I was given blue needles to cover, I
covered them with precision and speed. I was given another set of blue needles and covered the
majority of them before I noticed I was mixing two different needles together. I panicked; I rushed to
get a second box and started sorting through about 100 needles. I couldn t sort through all of them and
fessed up that I had made a mistake. I was called to the manager s office and was given a warning. It

The first type of authority is legal, or rational authority. Weber writes, It is concerned with how a
political order is regarded as legal in the eyes of the population...and the legitimacy is maintained by
reference to a legal code (13). Individuals or groups with legal rational authority are functional
superiors or bureaucratic officials. This type of authority rules through the law, the government, and
established norms. The reason their authority is accepted is that people generally believe rules and
regulations are necessary in order to maintain a functioning society. Examples of legal authority
figures are members of Congress, the President, the Queen of England, and average police officers.
These authority figures are able to maintain their dominance because it has been accepted as a norm
and necessity to follow the law. The second type of authority is traditional authority. Weber states, this
type of authority is: resting on an established belief in the sanctity of immemorial traditions and
legitimacy of those exercising authority under rule (12). Those with traditional authority inherit their
position from long established traditions and customs. Examples of traditional authority figures are the
Pope, doctors, and teachers. This tradition of obedience has been passed on from generation to
generation and it is seen as customary to obey those in charge of your faith, health, and education. We

Qualitative Case Study In Organizational Politics
Methodology
In order to explore individual meanings, definitions, examples and attitudes about organizational
politics other authors used a purely qualitative methodology (Buchanan, 1999; Buchanan and
Badham, 1999). This research uses a case study as the research strategy that allows researchers to
concentrate „on a single phenomenon or entity (the case), from which the researcher uncovers the
interaction of significant factors characteristic of the phenomenon. The case study focuses on holistic
description and explanation . Merriam (1998:29). Moreover, one review found that case studies to be
the most popular qualitative research strategy primarily due to its potential to generate novel and
groundbreaking theoretical insights (Piekkari, Welch Paavilainen, 2009). ... Show more content on

Using the qualitative case study approach can help find answers to the what, how and why questions
of the case to achieve a better understanding of the phenomenon studied by providing a descriptive
and explanatory account (Yin, 2003). Finally, the analysis of the case should generate an
understanding and explanation of why the story unfolded in the way it did. The micro political
perspective can help readers understand how managers behaved and managed the change which was
based on the goals, interests, experiences, interpretation and views of the participants involved.
The authors decided to limit the research to only one real time case study of an organization
undergoing organizational restructuring. Yin (2009) argues that the use of single case designs is
legitimate in following situations:

Language, Subsistence Practices, Kinship And Descent,...
In this paper I will be discussing in depth the Maori people. I will include a short background and a
quick summary of history and then describe a few aspects of their culture including: language,
subsistence practices, kinship and descent, marriage and household, beliefs and worship, and a unique
cultural practice.
The Maori, culturally Polynesians, are the indigenous inhabitants of New Zealand. The people who
call themselves the Maori are originally from the Polynesian islands and settled in New Zealand
around the 13th century. The tribes of the Maori did not identify themselves by a collective name until
European settlers arrived and then the use of the name Maori, which means ordinary came into use.
The Maori today make up about 15% (565,329 people) of New Zealand s population with the majority
living in urban area, while there are still few who live in the ancestral tribal areas. Many also live
overseas with 70,000 in Australia and 10,000 in England.
Around 1300 AD, a great migration of people set sail for what is now New Zealand. These people
came in seven very large canoes called Waka which were built to withstand rough seas and carry many
people including all of their possessions over long journeys. The present day Maori people can trace
their origins to the various Waka. The settlers from each Waka separated into tribes called iwi . As
time went on and population grew, the people spread out through the land and created a social
structure with iwi (tribes), hapu

Overview
For this psychological disorder analysis paper, I picked the movie American Psycho. American psycho
is a 2000 American Canadian black comedy psychological thriller horror film directed by Mary
Harron. The movie was based on Bret Easton Ellis s novel with the same name. The movie was stars
by Christian Bale playing the main character and the movie s narrator, Patrick Bateman. The movie
was set in New York City in the years of 1980s. The main character, Patrick Bateman is a investment
banker. The movie starts with Patrick doing his everyday activities like hanging out with his friends
and co workers, going to clubs, working, and his daily morning routines. Then his insanity starts, he
starts killing people. The first killing was on one of his colleague at his company named Paul Allen.
He then takes over Paul Allen s apartment and use it to conduct a series of illegal outrageous
behaviors such as rape, torture, cannibalism, and mutilation necrophilia.
Near the end of the movie, when Patrick Bateman finally realizes that he is insane and his killing
sprees is going out of control. He calls his lawyer named Harold Carnes, and got the answering

Evolution of Cognitive Psychology
Evolution of Cognitive Psychology
Cognitive psychology is defined as the scientific study of mental processes (Riegler Riegler 2008, p.
1). During the 1960s, cognitive psychology became an emerging presence in the field of psychology.
During this time period, attention to the study of how internal states, such as thoughts, feelings, and
moods influence behavior (Cherry 2010, p. 12). Cognitive psychology studies how individuals think,
comprehend language, and form beliefs. Human development involves cognitive development.
Researchers attempted to study thought through introspection. However, introspection was not

21). Human beings process information in a similar way. The creation of the computer was a great
advantage in the field as well. Scientists found that the human mind and a computer shared many
features in input, information processing, and organization.
Another reason in the emergence in cognitive psychology was the S R approach. The S R approach of
learning language was devised by B.F. Skinner; which was a behaviorist approach. Skinner argued
that even complex ability like language could be captured in purely S R terms (Riegler Riegler 2008,
p. 20). Noam Chomsky criticized Skinner s analysis regarding the S R approach claiming it to appear
to be scientific. Chomsky felt that language was grasped in the mind, thus, popularized cognitive
psychology. Overall, behaviorism was unreliable in the explanation of language.
Impact of the Decline of Behaviorism on Cognitive Psychology
The decline of behaviorism enabled the presence of cognitive psychology. Critics of behaviorism
believed that the failure was to address factors such as free will, internal thoughts, and other methods
of learning (Cherry, 2010). Behaviorists introduced the emphasis on scientific method, therefore,
opening the door to cognitive psychology. According to Riegler Riegler (2008) the failure of the S R
approach, coupled with the promise and excitement

Personal Values Of Art
Art History 3.6
Values such as personal, symbolic, religious and iconic can be shown in these three major artworks,
Christian Boltanski s 2010 s artwork Personnes , Damien Hirst s 2007 s artwork For the Love of God
and Jeff Koons s 1994 2010 s artwork Balloon Dog/Balloon Rabbit .
Christian Boltanski s Personnes reflects personal values as he believed that art raises many questions
and fulfilling emotions but there s no answer to neither of them. He assumes that death is
unpredictable, chance is watching every human life as they live on their life. His intention is to allow
each viewer to observe these compiled clothes of mass graves and honouring the dead . He created
this artwork to reflect the personal values of each deceased personal experience and commemorate the
lives of others , to leave the human trace as they moved onto the afterlife. Personal values is reflected
on each part of the artwork such as the compiled pile of clothes making up the whole artwork itself
and form them as shrines of the deceased, creating a personal effect on the viewer as well as
communicating with them. Personal values are also reflected on not just clothes but other people s
belongings, as reminders that there was a time when they once wore them and show sympathy and
connect with them on a deeper level, as Laura Cumming, art critic for The Observer states; this was an
art that spoke so clearly and simply that a child could understand it and so it is, to some extent, with

Yucca Plants and Yucca Moths: A Coevolutionary Point of View

BIOL 3700: Evolution
Maxence Salomon
Introduction
According to Thompson (1994), coevolution is defined as the reciprocal evolutionary change in
interacting species . This occurs when one species has a significant effect on the survival or
reproductive success of another species and vice versa, leading to the gradual evolution of both
species. It is important to study this topic, as it is possible that the evolution of a majority of the world
s life forms was affected by the coevolution occurring between plants and insects (Smith et al., 2009).
It is generally accepted that there are three forms in which coevolution can take place ... Show more

Coevolution in this scenario occurs by selection for those organisms from both taxa which possess
trait which allow them to take the best advantage of this mutualism relative to their conspecifics. An
example of this relationship is the plant pollinator interaction between yucca plants and yucca moths.
While the relationship between yucca plants (Family Agavaceae) and yucca moths (Genus Tegeticula
and Parategeticula) can be defined as mutualistic, it is more than an ordinary mutualism (Sheppard
and Oliver, 2002). In a generic mutualistic relationship, both organisms gain fitness benefits from the
interaction, but are not dependent on each other for survival. In the yucca plant yucca moth
interaction, the yucca moth provides essential cross pollination services to the yucca plant, and the
yucca plant provides a predator free location for the yucca moth to lay its eggs, as well as providing
nutrition for the larvae in the form of some of its seeds (Moisett, n.d.). Since the interaction between
these two organisms is necessary for the survival of their species, it is called an obligate mutualism
(Lunau, 2004). The relationship between the yucca plants and yucca moths serves as the theme for the
remainder of this paper.
Objectives
To discuss the widely accepted hypothesis for the evolutionary mechanism behind the yucca plant
yucca moth relationship.

notorious MS 13 and 18th street gang. This documentary was made to inform people that there is a
serious gang problem not only in the United States, but in other parts of the world as well.
Furthermore, I will discuss the Gangs of El Salvador, current issues regarding gangs, and how the
country of El Salvador is combating the gang issue.
According to the United States Federal Government and the Department of Justice, the definition of a
gang is an association of three or more individuals, whose members collectively identify themselves
by adopting a group identity. In addition, it then describes the ways that gangs can identify themselves
by tattoos, hand signs, a common name, slogan, and graffiti. On the other hand, the definition then
goes into saying that the group s focus is to implement fear, engage in criminal activity, and intimidate
others. If we look into the history of MS 13 and 18th street gang, we can see that the refugees had a
tough time assimilating into the American culture in the 1980s when they came over from El Salvador
to Los Angeles. With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he interviewed the local police department, a lot of the officers said that they are waging war on
the gangs of El Salvador because the murder rate is too high. In addition to the police response, the
gangs took this act as an act of aggression and declared war on the cops. I feel that this approach is
only going to antagonize the gang members and aggravate them and make them want to kill cops. On
the other hand, I think that the police should try to win over the hearts and minds of the gang members
and try to educate the population, so that the youth don t resort to joining

Measure For Measure, And A Short Account Of The Destruction
The works discussed thus far illustrate that one must possess a strong sense of determination and a
lasting endurance in order to achieve a sense of freedom and independence from others. With this
independence they are able to discover not only their identity, but also their role in society. The works
Heptameron, Measure for Measure, and, A Short Account of the Destruction of the Indies not only
highlight this notion, but also demonstrate the advancements in which one achieves when one goes
against the grain. In which involves one finding their sense of identity. In the work Heptameron, a

The missionary s continuations of preaching the word of the Lord, allowed them to build trust with the
indigenous people. Across the works the protagonist moral seemed to be challenged or discovered.
With this exposure they realize that in order to defend in what they believe to be is just, they must take
action. In addition these works demonstrate that freedom is not a given but something for which one
must strive. Silence is the greatest inhibitor of progression. Silence not only inhibits one from freely
expressing themselves, but it also prevents one in expressing themselves freely. This silence was seen
in the collection of stories named Heptameron. In this collection of stories, one story in particular
deals with this idea of silence. This story features a Prior who tries to use his power to seduce a nun.
The Prior, being tired of trying to express his love for the nun, attempted to touch her breast. When
she pushed the Priors hands from her breast he responded, What business has a nun to know that she
has breast? In response to this she replied, and I am very certain that neither you nor anyone else shall
ever touch them (35). The tone in which Prior speaks suggest he is coming from a more of a dominant
role. He being a male figure only adds to him to feel entitled. Thus only displaying how significant the
nuns actions were. Not only does she physically push away the Prior, but she also retaliates by stating
that he has no role in tainting

Abstract
When asked what to define a Psychopath people will often respond with descriptions such as
remorseless or lacking in empathy . However due to the results of studies from the past 20 years there
may now be reason to believe that this is not always true. This study investigates the relationship
between Primary and Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy.
The Levenson Self Report Psychopathy Scale and the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test were used to
work out the Primary Secondary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy scores of 452 students studying
Psychology at Victoria University of Wellington. Scores were put into a correlational design and it
was found that Primary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy have a significantly negative correlation.
This meant that there was a relationship between Primary Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy.
The Relationship Between Primary Secondary
Psychopathy and Cognitive Empathy Alot of research has been done to understand the relationship
between Primary(PP) Secondary Psychopathy(SP) and Cognitive Empathy(ToM). Psychopathy has
been divided into two subgroups: PP and SP. This distinction was made by Karpman(1948, cited in
Levenson, Kiehl and Fitzpatrick, 1995) . PP s are

U.s. War On Terrorism Essay
The United States vision of and for the world changed dramatically, and perhaps permanently, on
September 11, 2001. The aftermath frightened and impacted the nation s reputation, and in order to
measure the nature and extent of our policies, it is important to understand our efforts after this
national attack on US soil. Many interesting documents released earlier that year provides a detailed
perspective of America s economic policies and actions towards the War on Terror. The U.S. came out
with a massive debt that has impacted the nation in several ways, but this leads to a basic question
with a complex answer: How did the U.S. War on Terrorism impact the American Debt Crisis? After
researching further into the 9/11 attacks, clearly most of the money put into the war was wasted or
misspent. Even though it was crucial going after the terrorists, especially since they had taken many
lives and were capable to repeating their attack caused fear throughout the nation. It is important to
signal out that the U.S. was attacked from a terrorist organization that had their focus on the U.S. for a
long time. The impact that this served after 9/11 plays a clear role in defining the results of how these
economic policies were taken into action. After looking over this tragic event in the U.S. history, there
should have been a very high consideration towards how the money was going to be used in an effort
to defeat terrorism before this event occurred. The top priority for the U.S. has

Fad Diet Essay
FAD Diets A fad diet is a diet that promises fast weight loss through unhealthy and unbalanced meals,
they are targeted for people who manly want to lose fat without exercising and it s not good for your
body. There are many types of fad diets and i m gonna start with one the the most dangerous, the
tapeworm diet. The tapeworm diet was created by Dr. Meyers of Sheffield and it started to be
advertised in the early 1900 s. During the process of this diet, you are digesting tapeworm eggs and it
grows in your stomach and basically crawls around eating all the food you have consumed and you are
losing weight at the same time. This can be very dangerous because it could go to other parts of your
body through the blood system and can cause abdominal pain, weakness, headache, nausea, diarrhoea,
constipation, bloating and even death. To me it is totally disgusting and just not worth it. The
tapeworm diet is thankfully illegal in the US and you usually get the tapeworm eggs in a bottle
commonly found in Mexico for $1500. Back then they were usually advertised using posters saying
No diet, no baths, no exercise. FAT the enemy that is shortening your life BANISHED. How? With
sanitized tapeworms jar packed This whole diet is called unhealthy for many reasons, it is extremely
risky, after the tapeworm is gone people are most likely going to gain all the weight back they lost
because of unhealthy eating habits, you are not eating healthy or exercising so it s not good for your

Apple Watch Debate
The Apple Watch has a few changes, but not as much as the new IPhone 7. For example the Apple
Watch is now Waterproof. I would say that is the biggest change. It also has personalized watch faces,
and that s not that big of a change. In my opinion, I would stick with the one you have and wait for the
nicer, newer one to come out.
In the article I read today, they were talking about the flu shot. It s that season again and it s time to
get vaccinated! But maybe wait until November. They mentioned how the Flu virus might show up
later in the year, and so if you get it too early, the vaccination might wear off. That not too good for
me, because I already got mine.
I read on last night s debate with Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. In the Articles that I read, most
of them said Clinton won, and some Trump. I know that their all opinions, but the majority was

was the insults. Trump had no fresh information or insults. Do not think that me saying this means I m

Prophets Are A Catalyst For Change
1) Prophets played such an important role in the time of the Old testament. It is because of these
prophets, that we have so much of our prophetic literature through the Old Testament today. They
played an integral role throughout the life and history of Israel. We can see through numerous
situations throughout the Old Testament that the prophets were a catalyst for change occurring in the
land/people of Israel. According to David L. Peterson in his book, The Prophetic Literature , a reason
as to why there were prophets that arose in the time and land of Israel, is because its said that the
prophets were fundamentally important in understanding the history and value of Israel, and that the
activeness of the prophets showed God s concern for His people . We see that the word prophet , in the
Greek language actually means to foresee . This in time brought about issues in regards to whether or
not the prophets weren t just prophets, but could be providing some sort of witchcraft. But in actual
fact, the prophets within the Old testament tended to not only speak about the future, but noted
circumstances that occurred in the past and that reeled on into their present time. As we move forward
in time from the times of the prophets, we can see the necessity of having the prophets in the land, life
and people of Israel. Prophets at times came under four different titles or labels in the Old Testament.
Seer , diviner , man of God , and prophet . Throughout different

Network Traffic Networks And Intrusion Prevention System
Introduction
Network traffic analysis shows that a single host is opening hundreds of secure shell (SSH) sessions to
a single host every minute. What can we do to stop it?
OWDSI has to perform the following which is in the event that SSH is not being utilized on the
personal computer then close the open port, which is port 22. On the off chance that the port needs to
stay open then make sense of the IP address that goes through the port and afterward shut the open,
however open it for the IP Address as it were. Since the host is attempting to open such a large number
of sessions to the next host the principal thin that rings a bell is a refusal of administration (DOS)
assault. Intrusion Detection System and Intrusion Prevention System can be utilized to remember this
assault and after the drop all parcels from the primary personal computer (PC) to keep the assault from
proceeding.
Network traffic shows that hundreds of hosts are constantly sending only synchronized (SYN) packets
to a single web server on campus. What can we do?
OWDSI has to run a report on the security protocol and their security and have all the personal
computers (PC) do a full sweep after the shift it s over. The explanation is that this is a typical attack
of DOS known as a SYN Flood. The assailant utilizes a satirize IP deliver that interfaces with nothing
and afterward sends a huge amount of parcels to the objective. The objective gets the bundles and tries
to send and affirmation to the sender yet

The Personality Typologies Of Carl Gustav Essay
Personality Typologies
Carl Gustav Young had quite an interesting mind. He believed that while he was growing up, his
mother had to different personalities. Shortly after, he began to believe he was more than one person.
He felt that he was both the child he actually was as well as a wise old man. Jung had a lonely
childhood. He was the only surviving child of his parents and when he wasn t dealing with their
completely opposite personalities, he was being left out when all the kids in school played.
Fortunately, he didn t mind being alone, on the contrary, he very much enjoyed the alone time he
could get to think about and reflect on events.
Ever since Jung was a boy, he looked deeper into the purpose of objects and events, asked theoretical
questions that no regular boy would ask and came up with possibilities that no one could take
seriously.
Carl Jung was born on July 26th, 1875 in Kesswil, Switzerland. Shortly after graduating from the
University of Zurich, Jung became a Psychiatrist. He went onto founding a new school of
Psychotherapy called Analytical Psychology, eventually becoming a very famous Swiss Psychiatrist.
Analytical Psychology is based on the idea that experiences dramatically shape who you are and the
way you live your life as well as predict the way you will be living in the future. This was also
sometimes called Jungian analysis. The point of Jungian analysis was individuation. Individuation is
the process of one forming his or her own personal

Research On The Learning Of An Educational Setup Essay
1.0 Introduction
New Zealand social researchers Carl Davidson and Martin Tolich (1999) point out that research fulfils
three roles exploring, describing and explaining (as cited in Mutch, 2005, p. 16). Research helps to
add more qualitative information to an existing body of knowledge or helps to decipher a problem
existing in an educational setup. Sometimes, research tends to bring into light certain issues that
required attention. Baumfield and Butterworth (2005) suggest that engagement in research by teachers
has a positive impact on the learning of the pupils in their classrooms (as cited in Menter, Elliot,
Hulme, Lewin, Lowden, 2011, p. 14).
Having taught General Science to primary and middle school students (ages 9 11) and Chemistry to
secondary section students (ages 13 15), I have observed a change in the students approach towards
the study of Science. As the students progressed to higher grades, they started losing their interest in
science. Applying scientific concepts in practical scenarios became a challenging process and yet,
many continued to study science simply due to the pressure of choosing a career in the field of
medicine or engineering.
2.0 Aim of my research
As a science teacher, lesson planning involves setting specific learning objectives and predicting the
expected outcomes. On learning a scientific concept, the students are taught to build up on the concept
and eventually look at the final scientific theory that resonates with their

The Governor Of Southern-Bough Summary
In the story, The Governor of Southern Bough, a man goes through a series of events that reflect the
views of Confucianism. Within the stories, the philosophy of Confucianism is being stated through out
the story by the relationships between the characters. The five basic human relationships can be seen
in these examples below.
1. The emperor and minister relationship can be seen on page 284 of the text with the conversation
Chunyu Fen has with the king. Now that he had to put up with groundless complaints and defamation,
he was very unhappy , this quote shows his obligation and respect that he has for the current king.
Even with all the hard work he did in Southern kingdom he did not let this inflate his ego. He remind
loyal to the king that has given Chunyu Fen his position of power.

Older brother and younger brother relationships does not go into great details in the story, but it is
mentioned briefly on page 283. In the text it stated, In those years, Chunyu Fen had five sons and five
daughters. The sons were all given positions by means of the official hereditary benefits, the daughters
all got engaged with sons related to the royal family . This text shows the rank the family system has
from sons to daughters.
5. The friend and friend connections is the last relationship in Confucianism. This relationship is one
based on trust . The second paragraph on page 282 is Chunyu Fen given the king all the reason he trust
Zhou Bian and Tian Zihua. Chunyu Fen trust these individuals based on their skills and ho long the
group has been friend for ten years.
In the end of the story, when Chunyu Fen returns from the Southern Bough, this is more of a personal
change in his life. After his friends death Chunyu Fen did not drink and have sex (pp. 286). The
change in his life was a way for Chunyu Fen to find balance in his life from all the bad choices he
made in his younger years. So, this moment reflects Taoism more than

Strategic Discussion on U.S Airline Industry
Strategic Discussion on U.S Airline Industry
Discussion Question 1: Use the model of the general environment (Chapter 2, Table 2.1) to evaluate
the opportunities and threats facing the U.S. airline industry and Southwest Airlines in particular.
What are the key opportunities and threats?
The health of the overall U.S airline industry is still tenuous in spite of the passenger traffic volumes
returning to pre 9/11 levels. A survey estimated that from 2001 through 2003, the US airline industry
reported to have lost $23.2 billion dollars, compounded by an additional $1.6 billion in the first
quarter of 2004. This $24.8 billion shortfall exceeds the total profits earned over the entire six year
period 1995 2000

The airline industry is lobbying with Congress for a extension of federal War Risk insurance program.
To summarize some of the opportunities and threats faced by the airline today are
• Rising fuel cost which impacts the profit margin of the industry.
• Added security cost by govt. to enhance the safety of aircraft and our airports.
• The industry forecast an increase in tax on the operating income which will further reduce the net
profit for the airline industry.
• Rising short term interest rate would add additional pressure on the airline industry.
• Improving economy and travel demand is likely to bring legacy airlines in positive territory of
profits.
• Expiration of Federal War Risk Insurance program
Discussion Question 3: Use Porter s Five Forces Model to determine the attractiveness of the U.S.
airline industry.
The Porter s five forces model provides a framework for industry competition as
1) Threat of new entrants
Based upon the analysis above #DQ1, the airline industry is faced with several distinct threats and
challenges. However, opportunities for new entrants exist in regional airline market where major
airlines have retrenched their operations and other airlines have not pursued their operation. In mature
market, the new entrant will face stiff competition from low cost airlines and the legacy airlines. 2)

The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill

A detrimental event occurred within American borders off the coast of the usually pristine and
beautiful landscape of Alaska. Our country s dependence on oil for energy pushed for the exploration,
exporting, and refining of oil in our largest state. The ship released around 11 million gallons of oil
into the Prince William Sound waters; it was the largest oil spill in American history at the time. The
cleanup was one of the most expensive endeavors, as the efforts cost around $2 billion over the course

Eight Legged Creepy Flies Research Paper
The Origin of Eight Legged Creepy Crawlies
The tragic tale of how spiders came into existence began with a young girl named Arachne; naive,
prideful and a bit too talented. Arachne challenged Athena, the goddess of weaving. In some versions
of the myth Arachne directly declared her superiority to the goddess and challenged Athena, and in
other versions, her sheer skill challenged the goddess. A contest followed, and although Arachne s
weaving was better than Athena s, it was disrespectful and showed a disgraceful vision of the gods.
Weaving the gods in a bad light was a tragic mistake for Arachne, and she paid for the transgression
with her human life. Athena in a rage decided to allow Arachne to weave forever and turned her into a
spider, or, scientifically known as an arachnid (Hamilton 302 303).
As the myth above explains, Arachne was the first spider, so the species took her name: Arachnid.
Contrary to common knowledge, spiders are not the only arachnids in existence, although they are the
most significant order in that class. Other animals which fall under the category of arachnids include
scorpions, mites, ticks, and harvestmen. Today aspects of the myth live on in the existence of

The music was indeed freeing, revitalizing, and refreshing. It evoked powerful emotions which is hard
to express. There is no language I may write that will effectively communicate how liberating the
music made me feel. But, if I had to try, I must say I was mostly impressed how the music became the
conduit where I could experience God s peace and presence. My body, mind and soul connection to
the music encoded a deep anointing on my spirit. The music involved a combined shift of body
jerking pulses with rise and fall intensity. Which created an emotional roller coaster for me. One
minute my body was twisting and jerking to earsplitting rock roll and the next minute I was immersed
in a near trance inducing atmosphere in which the music toned down to a more mystical sensation that
moved me to tears.
The Weakness of this Contemporary Worship I believe my biggest critique with this style of worship
is that I question if music is enough. Does music make true transformation in the way worship shapes
our affections, values, perceptions and beliefs? Sure, good music add to the experience of worship and
it may enhance someone s spiritual walk. But, does it build a true sustaining relationship with God or
with the people of God? Thus, it is my belief that music only functions as background, mostly on the
surface and not real

Comparing the Atkins and South Beach Diets Essay
Comparing the Operations of the Atkins and South Beach Diets
In today s society, an ongoing trend of diets have played a major impact in the nutritional and dieting
markets such as the Atkins and South Beach. Both diets may be considered similar since they were
both designed and intended for dieters to produce similar results of dramatic rapid weight loss within
stages. Though the end result may be similar, the method of achieving the weight loss differs in many
aspects. Both the Atkins and South Beach diets, varies in the choice of foods consumed by the dieter
and the step by step process on how the diet operates. In the Atkins diet, it involves eating foods which
are high in protein and fat, while limiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The South Beach differs with the Atkins in that it allows carbohydrates, especially those high in fiber
like multigrain bread and wild rice. The South Beach diet relies on the glycemic index or GI to
determine good carbohydrates from bad carbohydrates. The glycemic index is a system that ranks
foods by how they affect your levels of blood sugar and insulin. Low GI foods that are less than 55
produce a gradual rise in blood sugar that s easy on the body. Foods between 55 and 70 are
intermediate GI foods. Foods with high GI that is more than 70 would make blood sugar as well as
insulin levels spike fast, which is a major health risk. The glycemic index is important since keeping
insulin levels low is the central principle behind all low carbohydrate diets. So under South Beach,
bad carbohydrates with a high glycemic index like refined flour products, potatoes, pasta, and white
rice are forbidden, while good carbohydrates with a low glycemic index like whole wheat products
and wild rice are permitted. The limitations and choices of carbohydrates, in both the Atkins and the
South Beach, may be one of the main differences, but they also differ in the way the diets are executed
in a step by step process. In the Atkins diet, it requires several stages in order to achieve the intended
goal weight reduction. There are four phases within the diet. The first phase is known as the induction
phase, where dieters are urged to be on a low carbohydrate and a

  • 6. The Opposite Sex Is A Necessity The opposite sex is a necessity in our lives. If we did not need them, none of us would be here right now, literally. By nature, we need someone else in our lives, be it a male or female, and be it friends, significant others, and family of the opposite sex. We need each other for company, support, and contentment. Men and women, on their own, are very strong individuals. They can be happy and have a fulfilling life individually AT times, but not all the time. The Maori, culturally Polynesians, are the indigenous inhabitants of New Zealand. The people who call themselves the Maori are originally from the Polynesian islands and settled in New Zealand around the 13th century. The tribes of the Maori did not identify themselves by a collective name until European settlers arrived and then the use of the name Maori, which means ordinary came into use. The Maori today make up about 15% (565,329 people) of New Zealand s population with the majority living in urban area, while there are still few who live in the ancestral tribal areas. Many also live overseas with 70,000 in Australia and 10,000 in England. Around 1300 AD, a great migration of people set sail for what is now New Zealand. These people came in seven very large canoes called Waka which were built to withstand rough seas and carry many people including all of their possessions over long journeys. The present day Maori people can trace their origins to the various Waka. The settlers from each Waka separated into tribes called iwi . Scientists found that the human mind and a computer shared many features in input, information processing, and organization. Skinner argued that even complex ability like language could be captured in purely S R terms (Riegler Riegler 2008, p. 20). This occurs when one species has a significant effect on the survival or reproductive success of another species and vice versa, leading to the gradual evolution of both species. It is important to study this topic, as it is possible that the evolution of a majority of the world s life forms was affected by the coevolution occurring between plants and insects (Smith et al., 2009). Coevolution in this scenario occurs by selection for those organisms from both taxa which possess trait which allow them to take the best advantage of this mutualism relative to their conspecifics. An example of this relationship is the plant pollinator interaction between yucca plants and yucca moths. While the relationship between yucca plants (Family Agavaceae) and yucca moths (Genus Tegeticula and Parategeticula) can be defined as mutualistic, it is more than an ordinary mutualism (Sheppard and Oliver, 2002). In a generic mutualistic relationship, both organisms gain fitness benefits from the interaction, but are not dependent on each other for survival. In the yucca plant yucca moth interaction, the yucca moth provides essential cross pollination services to the yucca plant, and the yucca plant provides a predator free location for the yucca moth to lay its eggs, as well as providing nutrition for the larvae in the form of some of its seeds (Moisett, n.d.). Since the interaction between these two organisms is necessary for the survival of their species, it is called an obligate mutualism (Lunau, 2004). The relationship between the yucca plants and yucca moths serves as the theme for the remainder of this paper. Ever since Jung was a boy, he looked deeper into the purpose of objects and events, asked theoretical questions that no regular boy would ask and came up with possibilities that no one could take seriously. Carl Jung was born on July 26th, 1875 in Kesswil, Switzerland. Shortly after graduating from the University of Zurich, Jung became a Psychiatrist. He went onto founding a new school of Psychotherapy called Analytical Psychology, eventually becoming a very famous Swiss Psychiatrist. Analytical Psychology is based on the idea that experiences dramatically shape who you are and the way you live your life as well as predict the way you will be living in the future. This was also sometimes called Jungian analysis. The point of Jungian analysis was individuation. Individuation is the process of one forming his or her own personal ... • 32. Research On The Learning Of An Educational Setup Essay 1.0 Introduction New Zealand social researchers Carl Davidson and Martin Tolich (1999) point out that research fulfils three roles exploring, describing and explaining (as cited in Mutch, 2005, p. 16). Research helps to add more qualitative information to an existing body of knowledge or helps to decipher a problem existing in an educational setup. Sometimes, research tends to bring into light certain issues that required attention. Baumfield and Butterworth (2005) suggest that engagement in research by teachers has a positive impact on the learning of the pupils in their classrooms (as cited in Menter, Elliot, Hulme, Lewin, Lowden, 2011, p. 14). Having taught General Science to primary and middle school students (ages 9 11) and Chemistry to secondary section students (ages 13 15), I have observed a change in the students approach towards the study of Science. As the students progressed to higher grades, they started losing their interest in science. Applying scientific concepts in practical scenarios became a challenging process and yet, many continued to study science simply due to the pressure of choosing a career in the field of medicine or engineering. 2.0 Aim of my research As a science teacher, lesson planning involves setting specific learning objectives and predicting the expected outcomes. On learning a scientific concept, the students are taught to build up on the concept and eventually look at the final scientific theory that resonates with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Analysis The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Wildlife s Immediate and Long Term Effects Andria Schmitz Purdue University A detrimental event occurred within American borders off the coast of the usually pristine and beautiful landscape of Alaska. Our country s dependence on oil for energy pushed for the exploration, exporting, and refining of oil in our largest state. The ship released around 11 million gallons of oil into the Prince William Sound waters; it was the largest oil spill in American history at the time. The cleanup was one of the most expensive endeavors, as the efforts cost around $2 billion over the course of an intense four summers (Tweed, 2014). 26 years after the incident, marine and terrestrial wildlife in the Alaskan ... • 37. Eight Legged Creepy Flies Research Paper The Origin of Eight Legged Creepy Crawlies The tragic tale of how spiders came into existence began with a young girl named Arachne; naive, prideful and a bit too talented. Arachne challenged Athena, the goddess of weaving. In some versions of the myth Arachne directly declared her superiority to the goddess and challenged Athena, and in other versions, her sheer skill challenged the goddess. A contest followed, and although Arachne s weaving was better than Athena s, it was disrespectful and showed a disgraceful vision of the gods. Weaving the gods in a bad light was a tragic mistake for Arachne, and she paid for the transgression with her human life. Athena in a rage decided to allow Arachne to weave forever and turned her into a spider, or, scientifically known as an arachnid (Hamilton 302 303). As the myth above explains, Arachne was the first spider, so the species took her name: Arachnid. Contrary to common knowledge, spiders are not the only arachnids in existence, although they are the most significant order in that class. Other animals which fall under the category of arachnids include scorpions, mites, ticks, and harvestmen. There are three key components to the IHOP Atlanta Missions Base: 1) Prayer 2) Mission and 3) Community. IHOP Atlanta has a very contemporary worship space. Hence, the devotional prayer room, which in most churches would be considered their sanctuary, is the centerpiece of all that they do. Per the signage that is placed at the entrance of the prayer room, group prayer at IHOP Atlanta is facilitated by way of their corporate intercession sets which is offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The music was indeed freeing, revitalizing, and refreshing. It evoked powerful emotions which is hard to express. There is no language I may write that will effectively communicate how liberating the music made me feel. But, if I had to try, I must say I was mostly impressed how the music became the conduit where I could experience God s peace and presence. My body, mind and soul connection to the music encoded a deep anointing on my spirit. The music involved a combined shift of body jerking pulses with rise and fall intensity. Which created an emotional roller coaster for me. One minute my body was twisting and jerking to earsplitting rock roll and the next minute I was immersed in a near trance inducing atmosphere in which the music toned down to a more mystical sensation that moved me to tears. The Weakness of this Contemporary Worship I believe my biggest critique with this style of worship is that I question if music is enough. Does music make true transformation in the way worship shapes our affections, values, perceptions and beliefs? Sure, good music add to the experience of worship and it may enhance someone s spiritual walk. But, does it build a true sustaining relationship with God or with the people of God? Thus, it is my belief that music only functions as background, mostly on the surface and not real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing the Atkins and South Beach Diets Essay Comparing the Operations of the Atkins and South Beach Diets In today s society, an ongoing trend of diets have played a major impact in the nutritional and dieting markets such as the Atkins and South Beach. Both diets may be considered similar since they were both designed and intended for dieters to produce similar results of dramatic rapid weight loss within stages. Though the end result may be similar, the method of achieving the weight loss differs in many aspects. Both the Atkins and South Beach diets, varies in the choice of foods consumed by the dieter and the step by step process on how the diet operates. In the Atkins diet, it involves eating foods which are high in protein and fat, while limiting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The South Beach differs with the Atkins in that it allows carbohydrates, especially those high in fiber like multigrain bread and wild rice. The South Beach diet relies on the glycemic index or GI to determine good carbohydrates from bad carbohydrates. The glycemic index is a system that ranks foods by how they affect your levels of blood sugar and insulin. Low GI foods that are less than 55 produce a gradual rise in blood sugar that s easy on the body. Foods between 55 and 70 are intermediate GI foods. Foods with high GI that is more than 70 would make blood sugar as well as insulin levels spike fast, which is a major health risk. The glycemic index is important since keeping insulin levels low is the central principle behind all low carbohydrate diets. So under South Beach, bad carbohydrates with a high glycemic index like refined flour products, potatoes, pasta, and white rice are forbidden, while good carbohydrates with a low glycemic index like whole wheat products and wild rice are permitted. The limitations and choices of carbohydrates, in both the Atkins and the South Beach, may be one of the main differences, but they also differ in the way the diets are executed in a step by step process. In the Atkins diet, it requires several stages in order to achieve the intended goal weight reduction. There are four phases within the diet. The first phase is known as the induction phase, where dieters are urged to be on a low carbohydrate and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
