Native American Mascot Research Paper
In 1992, St. Bonaventure s mascot was changed from the Brown Indian to the Wolfpack. The Brown
Indian was the mascot during a time of racial tensions between the Native people and those who
immigrated. The changing of the mascot was a good idea because having a Native American mascot
negatively affects that group of people.
One of the problems with having a Native American mascot is the representation and meaning of it. It
is not represented as a tribute or support of the Native people. Its meaning is quite the opposite. It
represents racism and bigotry. It represents oppression. Its meaning is to make fun of and put down the
Native people. It is the practice of humiliating them. Professional sports teams use their platform to
spread the message

Literary Elements In The Matrix
The Matrix is a well known blockbuster film which was released in the year 1999. Viewers commonly
it identify by the fascinating video effects as well as the unreal (yet real in the movie) acts performed
in the scenes. The idea which I aim to explore concerning the movie in this essay dwells on the usage
of cinematographic elements, the theme of fate as well as the stylistic use of literary elements.
The movie is well known for the advanced cinematographic effects and for a person who understands
film, the effects which are used in the film bring about a scientific as well as imaginary concept which
make the film fall under the genre of science fiction. Although most films are fiction, sci fi films are
quite intriguing because of the technologically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Neo is with the oracle, she examines him and says that his muscles have not been used and this

Canada s Contribution To The World
Canada s role in intervening in world incidents that pertain to humankinds wellbeing had different
impacts. It has only been over a hundred years since Canada has emerged into the international arena.
In the early twentieth century it made its contributions to the world even when not being an
autonomous state. Canada has joined different organizations that showed its stance in the world. As
time progressed the country s reputation stems from its distinguished contributions to maintain peace.
The country gained recognition for its efforts in the First World War; the most notable being their
victory at Vimy Ridge. Canada acquired an independent seat when the League of Nations formed and
partook in signing the Treaty of Versailles. As Canada developed a sense of independence, this meant
they d be an influence on foreign affairs, separate from Britain. During the interwar periods, Canada

HOW AFRICAN AMERICAN SEGREGATION INFLUENCED SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN
FOLK MUSIC DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION
John Hilderbrand
History 255: Race, Rock and Roll, and American History
April 29, 2016
Introduction Folk music was shaped and influenced by segregation during the Great Depression
between blacks and whites, which led to divergent forms of African American folk music in isolated
towns where black music could evolve from its African origins. Even before the Great Depression,
earlier African American music styles have influenced the folk music of southern Appalachia. The
banjo is one of the most important musical instruments playing in Appalachia folk music, and it is a
little known fact that this instrument was introduced by African Americans, as well as African work
songs and chants to this region.1 This paper will address how segregation between blacks and whites
have influenced folk music, if at all, and if racial tensions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some African Americans families settled in small towns which became predominantly black and poor.
This occurred throughout Appalachia, where blacks and whites tended to live in separate towns. When
black folk bands traveled to different festivals, they interacted with white folk artists and exchanged
musical methods weather they knew it or not. Some of the songs from African American folk artist
were adopted by white banjo players as early as 1830s such as Dan Emmett and Billy Whitlock, who
were part of a traveling minstrel show in Virginia according to historian George Gibson7. George
suggests that the blending of white and black music took place well before the minstrel performers
during the 1840s7. Which would allow for white folk artists to use their influence popularizing song
material that would have not gained much notice if it was kept within the confines of the black
folklore and

Application Of App Preceptor Programs Essay
The focus of the evidence of this literature review is to explore the need for of APP preceptor
programs to aid in new hire transition to practice. The review will begin broadly by presenting the
evidence that supports the need for preceptor program implementation due to common themes
identified by novice APPs. Then, the need for preceptor development will be discussed. Finally, the
review will conclude with current evidence that preceptor development is not only needed, but is
effective in bridging the practice gap for novice APPs. Significant Studies For the sake of brevity, only
the literature regarding preceptorship of novice APPs will be evaluated in this paper. Two studies are
older than 10 years, but were included to fully explore the applicable literature. All of the literature
reviewed can be found in Appendix A. The Johns Hopkins Evidenced Based Practice Evidence Rating
Scale was used to evaluate the literature (Newhouse, Dearholt, Poe, Pugh, White, 2007). In a
frequently cited study, Kelly and Mathews (2001) described the themes of loss of control of privacy
and time, relationship changes, isolation and uncertainty in a new NP role. The authors identified the
most successful coping strategy was the development of a support network and a mentor to aid in role
development. The study was rated a Level 3 due to its qualitative nature. It was given a quality rating

Homo Neanderthals Research Paper
Homo neanderthalensis is the closest extinct relative of Homo sapien. They were named for the
Neander valley region in Germany where some of the first Neanderthal remains where discovered.
Lime miners stumbled across the remains in a cave belonging to a bear; the fossils were then given to
a local teacher and amateur naturalist, Prof. Dr. Johann Carl Fuhlrott. (Tattersall) He identified them as
being very old and distinctly different from any other human bones he had seen before. Fuhlorrt then
brought a skullcap and partial skeleton to the Professor of Anatomy at the University of Bonn,
Hermann Schaaffhausen. (Tattersall) They published their findings in 1857 that these remains
belonged to a different people then modern humans.

The Global Epidemic Of Elder Abuse Essay
Evidence suggests that one in 10 older adults experiences some form of elder abuse, but only one in
25 cases is reported to social services agencies (Dong, 2012, p. 2151). Elder mistreatment can occur in
a variety of settings including domestic and assisted living. Elder abuse includes psychological,
physical, and sexual abuse; neglect to include both caregiver and self neglect; and financial
exploitation. With the vast explosion of the aging population in today s society elder abuse can no
longer loom in the shadows.
Literature Review After many years, the global epidemic of elder abuse is beginning to receive the
public attention it desperately needs. Forty years after child abuse and domestic violence first entered
mainstream of the publics eye, elder abuse, which attacks all demographic, geographic, and economic
populations on earth is finally making headway. Studies have shown that elder abuse is severely
underreported with about 10% of all elderly being subjected to some form of abuse and an estimated
less than half of these cases ever get reported (B. J., Holroyd Leduc, 2012). The American dreams
includes that we believe in the right to live free of abuse, neglect and exploitation and violence
regardless of age, gender, race and economic standing.
Statement of Problem According to Gibson and Qualls (2012) victims of elder abuse are usually, white
widowed females ages 70 to 89, however anybody can be affected. The first step is understanding

Today it is in our best interest to encourage everyone s potential by dedicating ourselves to the
continual improvement of our own abilities and those of the people with whom we work and live.
Total Quality is, essentially, a win win approach which works to everyone s ultimate advantage.
According to Deming, no human being should ever evaluate another human being. Therefore, TQM
emphasizes self improvement process. In addition, this principle also laminates to the focusing on
students strengths, individual learning styles, and different types of intelligences. A System of
Ongoing Process The third pillar of TQM as applied in education is the recognition of the organization
as a system and the work done within the organization must be seen as an ongoing process. The
primary implication of this principle is that individual students and teachers are less to blame for
failure than the system in which they work. Quality speaks to working on the system, which must be
examined to identify and eliminate the flawed processes that allow its participants to fail. Since
systems are made in the quality of those processes largely determine the quality of the resulting
product. In the new paradigm of learning , continual improvement of learning outcomes replaces the
outdated teach and test mode. Leadership The fourth TQM principle applied to education is that the
success of TQM is the responsibility of top management. The school teachers must

Partition Of Chapel And State Essay
At the point when Thomas Jefferson initially utilized the expression mass of detachment, it is sure that
he never would have expected the contention that encompasses that term two centuries later. The
representation has turned out to be powerful to the point that more Americans are more acquainted
with Jefferson s expression than with the genuine dialect of the Constitution.{1}
In one sense, the possibility of partition of chapel and state is a precise portrayal of what must happen
between the two establishments. History is loaded with cases (e.g., the Inquisition) of the risks that
emerge when the establishments of chapel and state turn out to be excessively interwoven.
However, the contemporary idea of detachment of chapel and state goes a long ways past the
acknowledgment that the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In spite of the fact that that ought to be a conspicuous explanation, it is astounding what number of
residents (counting legal counselors and government officials) don t have the foggiest idea about that
basic actuality.
Since the expression is not in the Constitution and not even fundamentally examined by the composers
(e.g., The Federalist Papers), it is interested in wide understanding and error. The main clear
proclamation about religion in the Constitution can be found in the First Amendment and we will take
a gander at its administrative history later in this article.
Thomas Jefferson utilized the expression detachment of chapel and state when he kept in touch with
the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. At that point the expression slipped into lack of clarity. In
1947, Justice Hugo Black restored it on account of Everson v. Leading body of Education. He
composed that the First Amendment was planned to erect a mass of division amongst chapel and State.
He included that this divider must be kept high and

As the reference voltage vector is formed using discrete switching vectors, the operating voltage
vector does not follow the reference trajectory []. The deviations between applied switching vector
and reference voltage vector results in the ripple in the output current waveform. For any switching
instance, the instanteneous current ripple due to application of ith switching vector (i.e. application
corresponding voltage vector Vi) can be written as (d(ΔI) ⃗)/dt= 1/L⌊□((V_i ) ⃗ ) (V_ref ) ⃗⌋ (1)

Disadvantages Of Medicinal Plants
In recent decades there has been increased public interest in prevention, control and treatment of
diseases by medicinal plants. However, providing the required resources from wild growing species
couldn t always meet the demand. Anthropogenic interferences with natural habitats and ecosystems,
and threats posed by humans to comply the demand make many medicinal plants endangered.
Cultivation of medicinal plants to provide needed plant materials is one of the strategies to conserve
the plants and avoid depletion of wild resources. Furthermore, using cultivated plants material instead
of wild collected ones has some other advantages such as precise control of growing condition,
harvesting at right time, and reduction the possibility of adulteration. However, it should be
considered chemical constituents may vary between cultivars and wild grown ones by type or amount
and then their biologic effects may differ from each other. Several studies have compared cultivated

Stress May Sabotage Diet Tenacity
Overview
Stress can significantly influence whether you are going to make a healthy food decision or not, a new
study suggests. When you are in a stressful situation, you are more likely to snack on a cake instead of
a fruits. According to the new study, it was found out that even moderate amount of stress can weaken
your willpower to go for healthier options when selecting foods. With that said, you should try your
best to avoid making food decisions when stressed. This will prevent sabotaging your lifestyle fitness
goal of maintaining a healthy weight or losing extra pounds.

moderate stress were requested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was demonstrated through brain scan where researchers found that stressed men had decreased
activity in areas that help regulate the long term goal of eating healthy food in stressed participants.
According to Maier, stress increases brain signals that influence taste preferences, while decreasing
brain signals in charge of good health.
Study Suggestions
According to Maier, a single stressful day may not completely sabotage a person s lifestyle fitness
goal if the stress ends within the same day. The person can go back to eating a healthy and balanced
diet. However, the study suggests that even common moderate stressful events that occur frequently
can cause lapses in self control. If you rely on your willpower to wield your self control in order to
stick with restrictive diet, it will be difficult to go for healthy options when you become moderately
stressed, said Maier.

Character Analysis of Ophelia in Hamlet by William...
Ophelia is completely virtuous and dependent on the men in her life, which is something I can identify
with. Of all the characters in the play Hamlet, the one I liked the most is Ophelia. Shakespeare
portrayed her beautifully and put all his emotions into Ophelia s character. Ophelia showed the exact
image of the majority of women from my home country. In the play Hamlet, Ophelia was the most
innocent, meek, but distraught character.
Ophelia was a young, innocent girl, who was spirited and was the age of daydreamers. Her dreams
were all about the young prince Hamlet; she believed he was the man for her. A little bit of attraction
seems like love to girls of her age. She was immature so she started to believe in Hamlet s love for her
and gave her untouched heart to him. Ophelia told Polonius, And hath given countenance to his
speech, my lord, with almost all the holy vows of heaven (I.iii.114). We have evidence that Ophelia
thought Hamlet really loved her. When her father asked her about Hamlet she replied, He hath, my
lord, of late made many tenders of his affection to me (I. iii. 100). Her heart always convinced her that
Hamlet loved her. While she was crazy, she admitted that Hamlet already used her and, due to her
innocence, she lost her virginity. She still was heartbroken that Hamlet thought that she was not loyal
to him. She wanted to say no to her father, when he asked Ophelia to spy on Hamlet but she could not
do it because the women of that era had no power to

Organizational Structure Of The Organization
Over the years, most organizations have been urged to consider changing their organizational structure
so as to promote employee flexibility as well as empower them with the discretion of making
decisions. As a result, organizations across the world have resorted to de layering or flattening their
organizational structures with the hopes of achieving employee flexibility and improving the
operations of the organization as well. De layering or flattening, in this case, refers to the elimination
of certain layers in an organization s hierarchy and the broadening of the span of control of managers.
Research has indicated that pushing down the process of decision making to the lower organization
levels not only makes employees responsible for their actions but also promotes accountability (Hirsch
De Soucey, 2006). It should, however,be noted that these changes in organizational structure have also
left organizations in the midst of chaos. In fact, as organizations delayer their structure and downsize
their labor force, employees, as well as managers, find themselves in working environments that have
redefined their work as well as the corporate culture.
It has been argued that the primary objective of flattening organizational hierarchies which also
includes the downsizing of the organization s workforce is to encourage workers in the lower positions
to participate in the decision makingprocess of the organization. However, research has shown that in
some cases, the

The Overview of Culinary Tourism A variety of terms have been used to express the relationship
between food and tourism: culinary tourism, cuisine tourism and gastronomic tourism. To indicate the
definition of those words, cuisine is defined as style of food preparation in effect, styles of cookery.
Cuisine does not mean for cooking only but applying to other activities in the scope of culinary
includes ingredients, prepared foods, beverages, food production, motivations, activities, institutional
structures, and tourism. Culinary as the adjective form of cuisine means kitchen in Latin (culina). This
term seems to be focused on the actual practice (e.g. culinary utensil ) denotes styles of food
preparation and consumption as well as the social context in which food is acquired and prepared for
sharing (Ignatov Smith, 2006, p.237 238). Gastronomy is involved in the enjoyment of good food and
beverages as a part of an affluent or aesthetically superior lifestyle and concerned the total
consumption of the meal (Gillespie, 2001).
Culinary Tourism recently becomes trend in tourism industry and explores new cultures through food.
It is defined as traveling for food, traveling through food, eating out of curiosity, or integrating food
into tourism. Moreover, culinary tourism can denote distinctive destination sites, such as restaurants,

The Impact of Poor Nutrition On the Student s Achievements
Abstract
Chapter1: Introduction
The ability of the students in the schools to learn is being hindered by foods that are widely available
in the schools which have affected the academic performance. The state of boards in the schools have
been in a mission to improve the education systems in schools which in return will improve the
academic performance of the students. To achieve this, they have to find the reasons as to why the

These programs have been of great benefit to the students because their school attendance has
improved and their academic performance have improved. Poor nutrition in students does not only
affect their academic performance but also affects their social skills, cognitive development, learning
and social behavior. However, there are some steps of actions that can be taken that will help to solve
the problem of poor nutrition in schools. Some of this action may involve central themes including
creativity, collaboration, and patience. Fixing the issue of poor nutrition among students will also help
in tacking the health constituents that majority of the students suffer from such as obesity,
undernourishment, and even eating disorders which have raised concern in the United States of
America.
The issue of providing students from low income families with nutritious meals has been debated for
many years. As from the period of the Great Depression some schools started to offer their students
with lunch and this had two major goals. The first goal of the school lunch program was to ensure that
students from low income families did not have poor nutrition by giving them meals with nutritional
benefits. On the other hand, the second goal of the school lunch program was to make good use of the
surplus agricultural commodities that the government had bought from

The Great Thing About Art, By Giotto Di Bondone And Duccio...
The great thing about art, is that there are multiple portrayals of one idea but, the artist s own personal
style allows one to feel something that another may not. Early Renaissance painters, Giotto di
Bondone and Duccio di Buoninsegna established their own unique style to depict a biblical scene
known as, The Betrayal of Christ. Through a close analysis of each artist s representation of, The
Betrayal of Christ, one is able to compare and contrast the artists own understanding of the scene
through their attention to detail, character, and space throughout the painting. When examining these
two works, one will have a stronger emotional response towards Giotto s interpretation rather Duccio
s, due to his methods of handling organization, figures, and space. Within each artist s painting, is a
major scene within the Betrayal of Christ known as, The Pact of Judas. This biblical story, is about
one of Jesus s twelve disciples, Judas, who agrees to give up Jesus for thirty silver coins. The chief
priests, agree to pay Judas and decide that the night before his crucifixion Judas would kiss Jesus so
authorities could recognize him out of the large crowd (King James, Matthew: 26). Once Judas
realized, that Jesus was sentenced to die due to his actions, he was remorseful and tried to return the
coins to the priests and eventually hung himself, due to his guilt (King James, Matthew: 26). Giotto
and Duccio each painted their own representations, of Judas receiving the thirty

In addition to this, the Animals are not only demeaned, but also beaten and brutalized. During Fiyero s

This recognition was carried over into the wording of the Second Amendment which states, A well
regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and
bear arms, shall not be infringed. It might be surprising to some that these 27 words comprise the
entirety of the Second Amendment. In the run up to the American Revolutionary war, the citizens of
the American colonies were restricted in their gun rights by the British Government (Henderson,
2000). Forming a militia to fight the British was essential in establishing the freedom for the citizens.

Today these philosophical positions have grown and taken deeper root in the international

The Critique Of The Film Casablanca
The three time Academy Award winning film Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film

The first writers on the script were twin brothers who left the film for another opportunity in 1942 and
the other credited writer, Howard Koch was hired. He wrote around thirty to forty pages for the script
but as soon as the twin brothers returned, his work went to garbage and had the brothers re write the

The Eighties
The nineteen eighties were the most important and remembered decades; Ronald Reagan, MTV,
cliques, fashion icons and Blockbuster. High school was different than today. The Breakfast Club
(1985) by John Hughes was the most iconic movie to sum up the eighties; a movie delving into the
different stereotypes and stigma of mental illness and bullying, in high school. Adolescence was the
time of transition between childhood and adulthood; it is a time for sense of identity. (Chronological
Description) For example, there were many labels used on the students by others. (Exemplification)
There was the jock, rich girl, geek, outcast, and the rebel. (Objective Description) In the end it had
also showed that perspective stereotypes do not matter. The clothing was represented on what was
worn in the eighties, in which the trend is slowly coming back into style. The Breakfast Club best
describes this era because of how the students labeled each other, disrespected one another, and by the
way they dressed. During and after the 1980 presidential election, the Reagan Democrats provided
millions of crucial votes for the Republican candidate, Ronald Reagan.( Morning in America,16) He
won 51 percent of the vote; once a Hollywood actor, his outwardly reassuring disposition and
optimistic style appealed to many Americans. (Ethos) His campaign cast a wide net, big tax cuts and a

Charles Lindbergh Embodiment of the American Dream
The 1920 s are well known for social movements ranging from women s rights and racial equality to
fashion and art. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American Dream.
America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to Paris, France
was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an easy road to get
there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was not available at the
time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start of a new age of
technology and mechanics, an art in its own right.
With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and broken,
including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the highest recorded
speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles Lindbergh set off from
New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully complete the journey.
Rising from obscurity to follow his dreams while doing what he loved, Charles A Lindbergh embodied
the American Dream as much as the 1920 s did.
Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 4, 1907 to Charles Augustus
Lindbergh and Evangeline Lodge Land. His family was from Minnesota, where he grew up. As a
child, he frequently visited his father in Washington, D.C., as his father served in the U.S. Congress.

Essay on The Physics of a Toilet
The Physics of a Toilet
Almost everyone in America has used, is using at this very moment or will use a flushable, indoor
toilet. Their privacy, and in some cases cleanliness, are taken for granted day by day. The basic
physics of siphoning, and the right amount of water, makes the toilet operate in our desired fashion.
This has been the concept of toilets for over 200 years. Some questions do come to mind when
witnessing this event; how does the water and waste get sucked out of the toilet bowl? Why does the
water get sucked out in a spinning motion? Does it matter which side of the hemisphere creates a
certain trend of spin in the water? These phenomena are more common than one may think, these
things happen through a variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bowl siphon is the one mechanism that makes the flushing feat possible. It s the gooseneck
section leading from the toilet bowl to the sewage pipes. According to the online howstuffworks.com,
the siphon is Any pipe, hose or tube that is used to move a liquid from a higher location to a lower
location. The actual design of the siphon is dependent on the effect caused by it. The function also
depends on the amount of water being transferred to the toilet bowl at one given moment. The tank of
the toilet contains approximately 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of water, when all of that water is moved to the
toilet bowl in a matter of seconds, all of the water going down the pipe creates the siphon effect,
sucking everything out of the toilet. If I were to dump a cup of water, or 25 cups (6 liters) of water for
that matter, it would not be enough to create the siphon effect. The water would only spill over in the
mechanism and drain itself to be level with the highest point of the gooseneck bowl siphon. Doctor
Louis A. Bloomfield, at the online site physicscentral.com, explains that the siphon effect works with
the combination of water and gravity at their finest. H2O has its own variety of different potential
energies.
Gravitational potential energy is at work all night, all day, and every second in between, while water
has its own potential energy due to having either low or high pressure. Water s total potential energy

The Russian Transitional Economy Essay
SBEJ review paper Comments to the Author The paper tackles an important and interesting topic such
as Barriers to Entrepreneurship. The context of investigation in the Russian transitional economy adds
value to the paper too. However, here are some of the major comments 1. The original element of the
paper is use of use of Double Bind Situation (DBS) theory to explain the entrepreneurial behavior in
an extreme environment of transition. In particular, the paper does greater in terms of addressing the
interactions of entrepreneurs and state individuals using DBST. Use of this theory to explain
entrepreneurial behavior is important contribution to the field. 2. The review of entrepreneurship
literature dealing with barriers is very brief. Author(s) should discuss more critically this literature by
pointing some limitations. For example, paper argues that several authors have conceived of barriers
as static while there is no discussion of some recent studies that use panel data technique, add dynamic
component in their analysis, and of course overcome some of limitations of previous cross sectional
studies. The studies, analysis in the theoretical part are based on the cross sectional. 3. Data and
method needs some more careful details and discussion. First, there is no clear discussion how the
sample of qualitative interviews was selected. This is very critical for implications of the study and its
limitations. 4. Author(s) claim that businesses for the study were either

Christianity, Judaism, And Islam
World religions have been a key factor in the development of the world throughout the course of time.
Religions like Christianity, Judaism, and Islam have been the major players in the development. These
religions impacted the world and future development through their holidays, foods, and through their
sports. The future of the world was shaped around these three religions and more is yet to come. They
impacted the world in many ways, but there were certain things like all the different holidays and the
different cultures that were practiced to make the world have a more diverse culture.
There are many different holidays celebrated in each of these religions. Each religion celebrates
different holidays and in many different ways. The way each faith celebrates represents their diversity
from one another. Each religion stands out by the major holidays it celebrates and what each holiday
stands for.
Christianity celebrates many different holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Ash Wednesday, and

Why Did Ancient Astronomers Study
Star Spotters by David Jefferis 8 202
Question: How did ancient astronomers study the sky?
Answer: These people used their eyes to look at the stars, moon, and sun. They also used an astrolabe
which could pinpoint and predict the moon, stars, planets, and sun s location. This information helped
them know when to plant their crops.
Question: What positive things does the sun do for us?
Answer: Life on Earth wouldn t be possible without the sun. It gives us light and warmth. Also, by
studying the sun, we can predict weather forecasts. These aided farmers in knowing when they should
plant and harvest their crops. The sun s energy also helps power many electrical appliances on Earth
and in space.

are taught on what their parents tell them. Then slowly it starts growing into our cultural identity over
the multiple generations. As you probably know, there is a big age gap between your parents and your
self. In the nowadays generation, the way we talk is considered to be rude to someone that is a lot

Another thing that shows a big generation gap is the music. Music has changed a lot from the 1900 s,

The Stoop Effect of Interference
The Stroop Effect Since birth, we are taught that certain words are connected with certain ideas. For
example, the word R E D is associated with the color of the wavelength of light from approximately
620 740 nm on the electromagnetic spectrum (Bohren (2006)) or in simpler terms, the color of stop
signs, roses or strawberries. What if after you have connected the word RED to this certain color, the
word changed to A H P A H, a nonsense syllable? Kline (1921) created a law that says: If a is already
connected with b, then it is difficult to connect it with k, b gets in the way. In the example above,
anyone who is accustomed R E D being associated with the color red, would have difficulty
connecting the color red to AHPAH. This law is not just specific for colors. Any example involving
concepts or routines makes sense in the law. In Stroop s (1935) interference article, it was discovered
that there is more interference in color naming then color reading. The experiment described in the
article tested whether there was more interference from words or from colors (Stroop 1935). Two tests
were administered each with a separate control. The RCNd test determined how fast one could read
color names where the color was different from the color name while the NCWd test determined how
fast one could name colors where the color was different from the word on the page. The mean time
for 100 responses increased from 63.3 seconds on the RCNd test to 110.3 seconds on the NCWd test

The Air Capital Of The World
In 1928 Wichita began to promote themselves as the Air Capital. Most of the population agrees that

Shortly after that, in 1928, The Air Capital was Wichita s new nickname. As Wichita went on to grow,
so did the industries. In 1932, Walter Beech and his wife Olive formed Beech Aircraft company. Their
first aircraft was the Model 17R also know as the staggerwing. It took its first flight in November of
that year. The Model 18 Twin Beech aircraft was just what the company needed to boom. It turned
Beech Aircraft into a huge corporation. The Staggerwing production was ended in 1946 and replaced
by the Beechcraft Bonanza. The first airport began its production in 1930 but was not finished until
1935. Its name was The Wichita Municipal Airport. After seventeen years, the Air force built a base
and began to use the airport for their own operations. Also in 1935, the world s most efficient airplane
began its production. It was named the Cessna Airmaster.

This track is off of the band s 1992 album, Wish. Lyrics include, I don t care if Monday s blue /
Tuesday s grey and Wednesday too / Thursday I don t care about you / it s Friday I m in love. Perhaps

wonderful surprise / to see your shoes and your spirits rise / throwing out your frown / and just smiling

the particular period in which the work was created and the influences that may have attributed to the
final product. The early 19th century in Europe was marked by a desire to return to the classicism of
the Greek and Roman empires as it connoted a sense of stability after the upheaval of the French

Asperger Syndrome (AS) is a developmental disorder. It is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), one of

This is only possible when the parents notice a difference in behavior in their toddler or take the
advice of a pediatrician for the child to be assessed. (refer to the CHAT assessment attached) This
assessment allows the medical professionals and families to identify the behavior. However, it is not
easy to do because of the child s age and the similarities to other autistic syndromes. A child diagnosed
with Asperger they can attend a public school. Although this legislation (The Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law ensuring services to children with disabilities throughout
the nation. IDEA governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education
and related services to more than 6.5 million eligible infants, toddlers, children and youth with
disabilities) is necessary and it protects a child s rights to the fairest education possible, it poses a
challenge for educators. So many classroom have enrollment limits that increasing beyond capacity.
The public school teachers are spread thin. The inclusion laws require educators to instruct children at
many different places developmentally. In addition to being in different places, the addition of
children with learning disabilities such as Asperger s requires the instructor to use a variety of
teaching strategies in order to reach each individual. Middle school and high school present even more

The changing of the mascot was a good idea because having a Native American mascot negatively affects that group of people. One of the problems with having a Native American mascot is the representation and meaning of it. It is not represented as a tribute or support of the Native people. Its meaning is quite the opposite. It represents racism and bigotry. It represents oppression. Its meaning is to make fun of and put down the Native people. It is the practice of humiliating them. African American Folk Music Research Paper HOW AFRICAN AMERICAN SEGREGATION INFLUENCED SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN FOLK MUSIC DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION John Hilderbrand History 255: Race, Rock and Roll, and American History April 29, 2016 Introduction Folk music was shaped and influenced by segregation during the Great Depression between blacks and whites, which led to divergent forms of African American folk music in isolated towns where black music could evolve from its African origins. Even before the Great Depression, earlier African American music styles have influenced the folk music of southern Appalachia. The banjo is one of the most important musical instruments playing in Appalachia folk music, and it is a little known fact that this instrument was introduced by African Americans, as well as African work songs and chants to this region.1 This paper will address how segregation between blacks and whites have influenced folk music, if at all, and if racial tensions ... A System of Ongoing Process The third pillar of TQM as applied in education is the recognition of the organization as a system and the work done within the organization must be seen as an ongoing process. The primary implication of this principle is that individual students and teachers are less to blame for failure than the system in which they work. Quality speaks to working on the system, which must be examined to identify and eliminate the flawed processes that allow its participants to fail. Since systems are made in the quality of those processes largely determine the quality of the resulting product. Of all the characters in the play Hamlet, the one I liked the most is Ophelia. Shakespeare portrayed her beautifully and put all his emotions into Ophelia s character. Ophelia showed the exact image of the majority of women from my home country. In the play Hamlet, Ophelia was the most innocent, meek, but distraught character. Ophelia was a young, innocent girl, who was spirited and was the age of daydreamers. Her dreams were all about the young prince Hamlet; she believed he was the man for her. A little bit of attraction seems like love to girls of her age. She was immature so she started to believe in Hamlet s love for her and gave her untouched heart to him. Ophelia told Polonius, And hath given countenance to his speech, my lord, with almost all the holy vows of heaven (I.iii.114). We have evidence that Ophelia thought Hamlet really loved her. When her father asked her about Hamlet she replied, He hath, my lord, of late made many tenders of his affection to me (I. iii. 100). Her heart always convinced her that Hamlet loved her. While she was crazy, she admitted that Hamlet already used her and, due to her innocence, she lost her virginity. She still was heartbroken that Hamlet thought that she was not loyal to him. Organizational Structure Of The Organization Over the years, most organizations have been urged to consider changing their organizational structure so as to promote employee flexibility as well as empower them with the discretion of making decisions. As a result, organizations across the world have resorted to de layering or flattening their organizational structures with the hopes of achieving employee flexibility and improving the operations of the organization as well. De layering or flattening, in this case, refers to the elimination of certain layers in an organization s hierarchy and the broadening of the span of control of managers. Research has indicated that pushing down the process of decision making to the lower organization levels not only makes employees responsible for their actions but also promotes accountability (Hirsch De Soucey, 2006). It should, however,be noted that these changes in organizational structure have also left organizations in the midst of chaos. In fact, as organizations delayer their structure and downsize their labor force, employees, as well as managers, find themselves in working environments that have redefined their work as well as the corporate culture. It has been argued that the primary objective of flattening organizational hierarchies which also includes the downsizing of the organization s workforce is to encourage workers in the lower positions to participate in the decision makingprocess of the organization. The great thing about art, is that there are multiple portrayals of one idea but, the artist s own personal style allows one to feel something that another may not. Early Renaissance painters, Giotto di Bondone and Duccio di Buoninsegna established their own unique style to depict a biblical scene known as, The Betrayal of Christ. Through a close analysis of each artist s representation of, The Betrayal of Christ, one is able to compare and contrast the artists own understanding of the scene through their attention to detail, character, and space throughout the painting. When examining these two works, one will have a stronger emotional response towards Giotto s interpretation rather Duccio s, due to his methods of handling organization, figures, and space. High school was different than today. The Breakfast Club (1985) by John Hughes was the most iconic movie to sum up the eighties; a movie delving into the different stereotypes and stigma of mental illness and bullying, in high school. Adolescence was the time of transition between childhood and adulthood; it is a time for sense of identity. One could even go so far as to say that the decade embodied the American Dream. America, as a whole, stepped forward. The first nonstop solo flight from Long Island to Paris, France was one such display of social advancement in this decade. However, it wasn t an easy road to get there. Modern technology such as the Concorde Jet or any modern vehicle was not available at the time. The first affordable vehicle was invented in the 1920 s, signaling the start of a new age of technology and mechanics, an art in its own right. With technology advancing, aviation began to rise in popularity. Many records were made and broken, including Amelia Earhart s flight across the Atlantic, the altitude flight record and the highest recorded speed. But before all that, another record was made. On May 20, 1927, Charles Lindbergh set off from New York to Paris, France. He would be the first solo flyer to successfully complete the journey. Their privacy, and in some cases cleanliness, are taken for granted day by day. The basic physics of siphoning, and the right amount of water, makes the toilet operate in our desired fashion. This has been the concept of toilets for over 200 years. Some questions do come to mind when witnessing this event; how does the water and waste get sucked out of the toilet bowl? Why does the water get sucked out in a spinning motion? Does it matter which side of the hemisphere creates a certain trend of spin in the water? These phenomena are more common than one may think, these things happen through a variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bowl siphon is the one mechanism that makes the flushing feat possible. It s the gooseneck section leading from the toilet bowl to the sewage pipes. According to the online howstuffworks.com, the siphon is Any pipe, hose or tube that is used to move a liquid from a higher location to a lower location. The actual design of the siphon is dependent on the effect caused by it. The function also depends on the amount of water being transferred to the toilet bowl at one given moment. The tank of the toilet contains approximately 2 gallons (7.6 liters) of water, when all of that water is moved to the toilet bowl in a matter of seconds, all of the water going down the pipe creates the siphon effect, sucking everything out of the toilet. If I were to dump a cup of water, or 25 cups (6 liters) of water for that matter, it would not be enough to create the siphon effect. The water would only spill over in the mechanism and drain itself to be level with the highest point of the gooseneck bowl siphon. Doctor Louis A. Bloomfield, at the online site physicscentral.com, explains that the siphon effect works with the combination of water and gravity at their finest. H2O has its own variety of different potential energies. Gravitational potential energy is at work all night, all day, and every second in between, while water has its own potential energy due to having either low or high pressure. For example, the word R E D is associated with the color of the wavelength of light from approximately 620 740 nm on the electromagnetic spectrum (Bohren (2006)) or in simpler terms, the color of stop signs, roses or strawberries. What if after you have connected the word RED to this certain color, the word changed to A H P A H, a nonsense syllable? Kline (1921) created a law that says: If a is already connected with b, then it is difficult to connect it with k, b gets in the way. In the example above, anyone who is accustomed R E D being associated with the color red, would have difficulty connecting the color red to AHPAH. This law is not just specific for colors. Any example involving concepts or routines makes sense in the law. In Stroop s (1935) interference article, it was discovered that there is more interference in color naming then color reading. The experiment described in the article tested whether there was more interference from words or from colors (Stroop 1935). Two tests were administered each with a separate control. The RCNd test determined how fast one could read color names where the color was different from the color name while the NCWd test determined how fast one could name colors where the color was different from the word on the page. The Purpose Of Art And Its Felicity Joseph Anton Koch The purpose of art and its felicity lies both in its aesthetic quality as well is the instructive capacity of art, wherein the various perspectives employed by artist s help to understand the particular period in which the work was created and the influences that may have attributed to the final product. The early 19th century in Europe was marked by a desire to return to the classicism of the Greek and Roman empires as it connoted a sense of stability after the upheaval of the French revolution which had brought down existing social, political and economic structures to an end. The work ofJoseph Anton Koch, a German painter who chose to live in Rome and imbibe the traditions of the classicists shows in his work a clear attachment to the values of linear composition and idyllic subject matter and this is clearly apparent in his monumental workHeroic Landscape with Rainbow, now a part of the European gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts in New York City. This work is an apt illustration of the manner in which the neoclassical tradition of landscape painting became an important part of the works of European painters of the early 19th century as a means of portraying the kind of society which people aspired to after the upheavals of the late 18th century.
