The, Peace, Night, Day, Love, Hate
Introduction
Binaries are embedded within every facet of our perceptions. War, peace, night, day, love, hate; we
are inclined to believe that every subject, idea, and thing has a polarizing companion. While this
paradigm may be beneficial in understanding the distinction and differences between these pairs, it
fails to entertain an idea even more compelling; that these polar opposites may not in fact be that
different from one another, and the bold notion that these dichotomies might not be as real as we
presume. Art and physics have been traditionally painted as polar opposites; neither resembling the
other even remotely. One is rational, objective, and logical, while the other is interpretive,
subjective, and, at times, seemingly illogical. While these superficial characteristics make a
persuasive argument for an antagonistic relationship between these subjects, it fails to acknowledge
their overarching commonality. Both disciplines have rich and prolific histories, saturated with
radical ideas, incredible individuals, and ground breaking discoveries and progressions. These rich
histories have provided the necessary foundation for the modern interpretations of these subjects
and all the wonderful innovations and understandings this modernity has entailed. While many
factors, movements, and people are responsible for this progression, two such movements in
particular have caused radical paradigm shifts in their respective disciplines. Impressionism and

1 How did Lenovo make such a great change so quickly?
Lenovo is a manufacturer of computers, tablets and smart phones. Its headquarters is located in
Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, home of IBM ThinkPad group and in Beijing, China. It is
also incorporated in Hong Kong. The company was founded in 1984 by a group of 11 engineers.
In terms of weakness findings, Lenovo has shortcomings of late entry in related market, weak
global brand image and low brand awareness, and ongoing cultural integration. Analyzing leading

So Lenovo decides to expand internationally his brand.
In 2003, Legend announced the birth of their new logo Lenovo to prepare its expansion into the
international market. Lenovo initiates IGRS Working Group, in cooperation with some large
companies and the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry, in order to promote the creation of
industry standards. The company would continue to serve the IT market in China, while
considering how to expand abroad. The company would seek to strengthen further Lenovo s brand
image with a series of new product introductions. Lenovo would invest in R D. International
expansion would entail developing international distribution channels and incurring substantial
marketing and sales costs. Lenovo s global expansion began with a move into Hong Kong, with
plans to enter the U.S. and Europe after that. One approach would be to acquire foreign companies
with distribution capabilities while another would be to rely on wholesalers and retailers for
distribution, and the company would need to compare the costs and benefits of alternative
distribution channels.
Meanwhile IBM was having losses for 3 years and a half. So Lenovo stood to gain scale from the
acquisition because it might benefit from economies of scale in manufacturing. In

The Greenhouse Effect On Earth
When you hear about global warming many things come to mind. The greenhouse effect,
pollution, carbon dioxide and of course, the earths temperatures rising. When people hear of the
greenhouse effect do they actually know what it is. The suns UV rays hit the earth and 30% of the
energy reflected back into space, 47% gets absorbed by gasses and turns into heat energy. The rest
is shared between the water cycle, photosynthesis Some of the heat tries to escape back into the
atmosphere but is trapped by the greenhouse gasses. This in turn makes eartha liveable planet.
Without these greenhouse gasses the earth would have an average temperature of 18 degrees
instead of a nice liveable 15 degrees Celsius.
So the greenhouse effect is supposed to be a good thing. It makes life on planet earth possible.
However, with the increase of greenhouse gasses the earth is absorbing a lot more heat than it
needs. When there are too many greenhouse gasses floating around the atmosphere and excess heat
becomes trapped causing earths temperature to rise.
The enhanced greenhouse effect causes global warming. Simply put, global warming is earths
temperatures increasing due to pollution. The first person to predict global warming was a Swedish
chemist named Svante Arrhenius. He predicted that with the increasing amount of carbon dioxide in
the atmosphere. Between 1880 and 1940 the temperature rose but then dropped between 1940 and
1970. Because of the drop there looked to be no

Levi s Not by Jeans Alone
With other companies starting to encroach upon the Jeans market share, Levi s decided to introduce
a new product. With the goal to gain profits, Levi s pursued diversification with the new product.
This product was formal clothing for men.
Levi s divided the consumers into five segments based on demographics, attitudes and beliefs. Q2
and Q1 appeared to be desirable target segments, however, Levi s decided to focus on the Q2
consumers, the classic independent males. These consumers were well dressed, cared about their
appearance, shopped alone and mostly at specialty stores. They weren t price sensitive and
preferred wool/wool blends in conservative colors.

Levi s decided to place their product in department stores as they had good relations with the
retailers due to their volume sales of jeans. They did not have any real relationship with the
specialty stores where the independent male shopped. Rather than placing their new products
which would be considered as high end in these specialty stores and where they would be among
the lower price range, they chose to place their products in the department stores where their
products showed a deviation from the regular Levi formula and were considered very pricy as
compared to other high end department store brands such as Haggar s. This price raised some
concerns among the retailers as they were unsure if Levi s formal wear would move out of the
stores at a required pace. Also, due to price quality inference, if Levi s was placed in a specialty
store, the Q2 customer might prefer to buy a more expensive product. Levi tried to sell these
formal clothes in the same stores as their casual clothes for the same segment of customers.
Customers saw these formal clothes at the same place priced higher than the casuals, and therefore
found them to be expensive.
Due to the above reasons and lack of promotion, Levi s achieved only 65% of their sales target.
They promoted the wrong product under their brand, for the wrong price at the wrong place. They
failed to understand the needs of their customers.
Levi s would have been able to avoid these mishaps if they changed their target

Pulau Blakang Mati, island behind dead, Singapore Looking at the old pictures in album, Jane
found her memories of vacation she spend with her 4 friend in Singapore island called Sentosa,
also referred as Pulau Blakang Mati (behind the dead) between local people. She learned that one
night sitting on the sand with man she never seen before or after. He was not local, moved there
with his parents when his father was stationed there before Singapore got independent from
United Kingdom. He moved back to UK for couple of years, and again went to Pulau Blakang

memory of that little piece of heaven, perfectly organized and well planned. Every inch of island

The Effects of Differing Response-Force Requirement in...
Introduction Previous research have demonstrated that avoidance responding is influenced by
shock intensity and duration (Leander, 1973; de Souza et al., 1984; Badia et al., 1973). Powell
(1970) investigated the effect of two shock intensities in single and multiple avoidance schedules
and found that the higher shock intensity was generally more effective in producing avoidance
responding. Leander (1973) investigated the effects of shock intensity and duration on free operant
avoidance. The results indicated that shock intensity and shock duration combine in a
multiplicative fashion to determine the avoidance performance. The relation between shock
intensity and shock duration suggested that longer shock durations can be substituted with lower
shock intensities (Leander, 1973). The increased strength and magnitude of shock predicted higher
rates of avoidance responding. However, there seems to be a minimum threshold for shock to
establish and maintain avoidance responding. De Souza et al. (1984) found that there are individual
differences in sensitivity to shock. There was a minimum shock intensity necessary to establish and
maintain avoidance responding; and intensities higher than this minimum value had little or no
effect on responding (de Souza et al., 1984). This suggests that once the range of minimum
threshold sensitivity to shock for individuals in a group is identified, any shock intensity higher
than largest value in the range can potentially establish and

Summary
This paper researched the fact that the Toys R Us Company was displaying a weakness in financial
related issues due to the lack of proper strategic planning. This made the company susceptible to
many threats in the industry s competitive environment. The research has shown that its main
competitors Walmart, Target, and Amazon are functioning successfully in the industry while Toys
R Us heads for bankruptcy. This research emphasizes the fact that Toys R Us has not taken steps to
strategize its operations properly which resulted in a loss of revenue and opportunities in their
environment. If the company does not take steps to better its strategic planning, the company will

focus is kids and families every day of the year unlike some of our competitors who only play (pun
intended) a few weeks a year Toys R Us Inc.,2017, Oct 24). Another innovative way the company
has gained competitive advantage recently is by introducing Play Labs nationwide. Play Labs
are a free reality application which includes AR games and play experiences that children can
play on their smartphone or tablet devices while they are in the stores shopping. Toys R Us is
now more than just a place to shop, they have created experiences which bring their stores to life
with their interactive games that the kids highly enjoy playing (Toys R Us Inc, 2017). There are
different ways how Toys R Us can reach profitability by obtaining customers year round. The
company should appeal to its established historic customer base that will respond to its stores
because of their loyalty to the company. The company can do this by opening new product lines.
They can focus on obtaining products that are high in demand by their competitors. They can use
their already established company popularity to obtain strong supplier relationships for the
additional products. These will supply the company with an additional source of income and the

career and she s only seventeen. Thanks to her uncle who is a professional guitarist in Los Angeles,

She intends to return to Los Angeles and record more in the future if possible, and understands
that she is at somewhat of a crossroads in her life at this moment. She feels that both college and
the pursuit of music need to be pursued now or never. That said, she does have a plan to
integrate her studies in the future. The music business is difficult to crack into according to
Delaney and she hopes to study business as a means to get a leg up on her non business minded
competitors in the industry. Furthermore, she also says that if recording does not work out a
business centered degree can apply in a variety of fields. She also dreams of potentially entering
music from the business side rather than performance in the far future. For now, her sites are set
on the completion of her final NorthWood Choir performances and a trip to Chicago the group
is taking later this spring. Regardless of where she is or what avenue of music she is pursuing or
will pursue, it is clear that music will remain an important part of Delaney s life moving forward,

Misconstrued Time in Ferdi RiskiyantoВґs Advertisment
Time has overtaken the minds of society today in a multitude of ways. Daily tasks such as visiting
family members, attending meetings, and paying bills all incorporate the substantial importance in
tracking every second of a person s life. In addition to scheduling, time is often denoted as a
system of counting down until an indefinite end occurs. In an advertisement by Ferdi Rizkiyanto, a
digital artist, an hourglass is used to represent time before the fate of humans concludes due to
global warming. Within the hourglass, sand has been replaced by the water of melting icebergs,
and the droplets trickle into the lower level containing the homes of modern day society. The
global warming hourglass ad attempts to emphasize the importance of immediately solving earth
s impending environmental problems by appealing to the emotions of fear and pity, but the
awaiting disaster used in the visual is ineffective because it will not occur during the audience s
lifetime. In this advertisement by Ferdi, the world is placed within the lower chamber of an
hourglass. All of society continues to follow their daily routines, and nothing seems out of the
ordinary. However, far above their heads, the polar ices caps are slowly melting. Many artic
animals lose their homes and become stranded due to this issue. As the ice melts, it slowly filters
into the earth bearing chamber, eventually causing the entire population to be flooded in a problem
that could have been slowed, if not stopped

In general an emerging market is defined as an economy that is steadily progressing towards
reaching the status of an advanced economy. According to the World Bank, there are 28 major
emerging markets to date (The World Bank 2016).

of the world s population. With 82% of the world s population under its belt, this market poses an
exceptional potential for business development. By 2020, these markets economy is predicted to
develop three times faster compared to an advanced market (The World Bank 2016).

Analysis of Statistical Data
Statistics In the Smith, et al (2006) study, 26 patients were used. They all had COPD that was
stable, and they all complained of coughing. Their age, mean FEV, and smoking history were all
accounted and controlled for (Smith, et al, 2006). Methods used involved a cough challenge test,
sound recordings of their cough day and night, and a questionnaire that involved their perceived
quality of life (Smith, et al, 2006). The coughs were actually manually counted and then translated
to coughs per hour. The cough seconds per hour was quantified based on the number of seconds in
each recorded hour that contained a cough. The overall median time that was spent coughing was
calculated to be 7.5 cough seconds for every hour, although this lessened considerably at night
(Smith, et al, 2006). The subjective cough scores were taken into account and compared with the
actual cough seconds per hour. It was found that the study participants often thought that they spent
more time coughing than what the data indicated to b accurate (Smith, et al, 2006). By looking at
the statistical data used (median cough seconds per hour), it can be seen that people with COPD do
not (on average) spend that many seconds per hour coughing. However, because of the disruptive
nature of coughing repeatedly throughout that hour, these individuals often think they spend much
more time coughing than they actually do (Smith, et al, 2006). This was evidenced by the fact that
a subjective measure of coughing

Your walking through a cemetery at night. You feel as if someone is watching you though no
life is there. You look away for a split second and you see a man about 20 feet in front of you. You
freeze looking straight towards the man as if you are being arrested. The man walks slowly to
you, you are still frozen. You start to walk back slowly then faster. You start sprinting and you

Many people ask what are ghost. A ghost is an apparition of a dead person that is believed to
appear or become manifest to the living, typically as a cloud/hazy image. They are all over the
world and most likely in your own home. I have had my fair share of experiences with ghost.
For example I was pushed down the stairs by a ghost and or I was not being careful. I was also
with by brother and we heard footsteps and laughing upstairs when nobody was home except us.
My brother had heard a demon and that s why I am a firm believer of the supernatural. You never

Big Fish And Atonement Comparative Essay
The two movies Atonement and Big Fish are very similar although at first, the average viewer
would not normally acknowledge it. The two movies seem very different, from the calm narration
of the historical fiction movie Atonement and the wild extreme imagery that the narrators from Big
Fish, a fantasy drama film, expelled to the audience. Yet the narrators from these two movies are
the aspects that make these films similar. The film Atonement at first seemed like it had four
different narrators, Briony Tallis as a child, Briony Tallis as a young adult, Cecilia Tallis and

Argument Against Biosafety Levels
When dangerous diseases like Ebola and the Zika virus infect large populations of people and
becomes a threat to public health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) takes
the lead in responding to them. Microbes that fall into the highest level of containment
Biosafety Levels (BSL) three and four are easily transmissible in the air with little or no
treatment available (CDC, Recognizing Biosafety Levels ). To fight against such threats, the
CDC conducts critical research to track and find what is making people sick and the most
effective ways to prevent it (CDC, Mission, Role, and Pledge ). However, in 2014, news reports
emerged of the CDC accidentally sending live samples of Ebola to a lower level facility and
discovering forgotten vials of smallpox in a cardboard box in a facility owned by the National
Institutes of Health (NIH) (Young and Penzenstadler, Inside America s secretive biolabs ). The
CDC is reknowned for successfully eradicating diseases like smallpox and polio, but these
incidents damage the reputation of the agency because workers did not follow biosafety protocol.

The Controversy Behind Shakespeare s Work
Shakespeare or Bacon For many centuries, there has been a controversy over whether or not
Shakespeare wrote his plays himself or whether another author wrote the works and gave him
the credit. Shakespeare (1564 1616) is recorded to have written 37 plays and 154 sonnets, but
the authorship of Shakespeare s work has been disputed. There is valid reason to believe that
Francis Bacon is the genuine author behind Shakespeare s name. Bacon s similar high status,
numerous travels, and the Baconian theory are valuable reasons that give evidence to Bacon
possibly being the author. Francis Bacon lived a short extraordinary life from places he was able
to travel to, to the things he wrote, and to people he experienced along the way. Bacon was a
highly intelligent child, not only was he homeschool throughout his early years, he then enrolled
in the Cambridge s Trinity College at age 12. This schools constricted curriculum started to bore
Bacon to the point that he decided to unenroll 2 years later. His next stop was Gray s Inn College

Cause And Effect Essay On Drivers Driving
Automobile accidents are a leading cause of death in the United States today. A high percentage
of these accidents are caused by elderly drivers who are not fit to drive. Health issues, lack of
knowledge of new driving laws, or the development of bad driving habits are some factors that
contribute to this issue. However, not all older drivers are dangerous behind the wheel. Actually,
many are safer drivers than their younger counterparts. They are more cautious, adapt to weather
conditions better, and tend to be less distracted behind the wheel. But the government should not
ignore the elderly drivers who have killed others while behind the wheel due to age related
issues. Licensed drivers over the age of 65 should be required to retake their driving test every
year due to health issues that come with age, updated driving laws, and bad driving habits that
develop over time. Health issues that come with age can heavily affect a driver s ability to
control an automobile safely. Dementia, strokes, and impaired vision are just a few examples of
many health issues that cause some senior drivers to be unfit to drive. Dementia affects its
victims by severely decreasing thinking skills and causing memory loss. When a stroke occurs,
blood flow is cut off from the brain, which eliminates the driver s ability to control their vehicle.
The chance of a stroke increases tremendously with age. From a decrease in depth perception,
blurry vision, and cataracts; impaired vision can come in

separate them into multiple stories so that when they someone reads them all they will see a
bigger picture. In these stories the three messages are exile, fate, and loneliness. One main
message in The Seafarer translated by Burton Raffel, is exile. Exile plays a big role in all three

Benefits Of Payment Reimbursement Systems Within The...
Effective payment program strategies are a major part of administering health care.
Reimbursement programs are a part of the United States (U.S) health care system. They represent
a financial tool for providing cash flow to service physicians and hospitals. Most often, the ability
to provide quality health care depends on the payment for the services given by physicians and
hospitals. This paper presents a view of payment reimbursement systems within the health care
industry. A comparative overview and description of payment reimbursement will be given in order
to understand the flow of finances in the health care industry. The focus will be on the levy and fee
for service reimbursement systems. Readers will then be able to conclude that... Show more content

The costs of health care are higher in the United States than in other countries and put a strain on
the overall economy. In the United States, health care is technologically advanced but expensive.
Health care costs were about $2.6 trillion dollars in 2010. For decades, the amount of money spent
on health care has increased more than the overall economy has grown. Health care is paid for by
government programs, private health insurance plans, and the person s own funds.
Private insurance
Private insurance can be purchased from for profit and not for profit insurance companies.
Although there are many health insurance companies in the United States, a given state tends to

is not considered taxable income for the employee. Because the government enables employees to

A Compare and Contrast of Horror and Science...
The good thing about films is that we not only have the opportunity to choose from a wide
selection of different genres, but also compare them and understand their purpose in the world. The
Horror genre has used the basic principles throughout time, and as a result, films of this type have
not proven to be as timeless as another genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy. At first, these two genres
might at times seem similar as they have at several occasions been blended together, but their basic,
common theme serves different meanings about humans. I shall compare and contrast these two
genres and focus on both classic films and modern films. From the Horror genre perspective I shall
discuss Psycho(1960) and The Mist (2007), while in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre I will
examine 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Pan s Labyrinth (2006), and Serenity (2005). Although the
Science Fiction/Fantasy genre and the Horror Genre share some similarities, the differences lie in
their focus on humanprogress.
The genres relationship lies in the danger of human lives in an unfamiliar milieu. There is a threat
to the lives of the characters whose fear and danger is a common element. The source of this can
be from both humans and imaginary monsters. The horror films Psycho and The Mist both have
humans as the real threat to the main characters. Schizophrenic Norman Bates in Psycho is a
heinous, disturbed killer who dresses up in woman s clothes when he is about to kill someone. The
danger is first

Antiheroes: neither villains nor supermen but the tragic heroes of daily life. Discussing the

Pitts Singer provided me with very helpful information about the impact of UV levels within
Greenhouses and how they may affect the behavior of bees. This gave me insight on what i
might expect to observe from the bees. Benefits of having low transmission of UV is that it will
ward off harmful pests within the greenhouse. Unfortunately UV is an aiding factor of the bees
vision and orientation. Under glass with a good UV transmission (up to 80%), bees behave
normally. Under PVC or PC, with a very low UV transmission (less than 3%), they perform
poorly, at least until they learn to cope with the lack of UV vision ( Rosalind James and Theresa
L. Pitts Singer, 2008) Because of this article i was able to pinpoint key factors that may cause
the bees to struggle, for example, the book addresses that high humidity within greenhouses may
be an inconvenience to the bees and may affect pollination levels. In order to fix this, we must
alter the light permeability and circulation within the greenhouse. It also recommends having a
sufficient floral supply when using solitary bees in order to warrant successful reproduction.
Failure to provide a floral resource for active bees decreases the reproductive success of bees and, in
some cases, may cause them to leave the crop vicinity in search of alternative forage ( Rosalind

Hybrid Cars And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
In this day and age people argue more often about which kind of car is better overall; is it the
internal combustion engine, ICE, or hybrid car? Consumers are led to believe through
advertisements and online articles that hybrids are a better buy because of their reduced impact on
the environment, and ease of use. These reasons are in fact false because hybrid cars are no better
for the environment because of their production emissions and other variables.
There is a growing scientific consensus that increasing levels of greenhouse gas emissions are
changing the earth s climate. Also oil prices continue to skyrocket while tougher regulations and
policies on permitted exhaust gases are being instituted in major cities of the world. These and
some other related issues are compelling vehicle manufacturers to come up with fuel efficient
vehicles. These types of vehicles are known as hybrid electric vehicles (Omoigui).
Since their invention, most cars use an internal combustion engine, which is what all engines that
use a fuel and pistons. These ICE cars run off of only gas and other forms of fossil fuels. On the
other side of the spectrum, there have more recently been completely electric cars that are quiet
and have a large amount of batteries. In the middle of these two is the hybrid car; there are six
different kinds of hybrid configurations between the ICE and the batteries all with pros and cons.
Some reduce emissions of the ICE and others increase the torque on the axle

How A Company Can Use Its Weaknesses And Opportunities
The GE case is an example of how a company can use its weaknesses and opportunities to further
its progress. The company saw the potential of the internet in changing businesses. Moreover, for a
change to be effective and be felt across the organization, it must start from the top as Jack Welch
showed by taking typing classes. Further, companies should embrace technology involve their
clients whenever planning to change. This was seen when GE decided to launch the icenter to
connect with customers on its products and services. GE s strategy, like the other companies, chose
to change its way of doing businessby embracing the power of the internet and seeking to be a
leader in the field (Laudon Laudon, 2014).
Rand McNally, on the other hand, provides businesses with lessons, such as changing the
corporate culture to embrace productivity. The company had to do away with the conservative
corporate culture. The CEO of the company chose to personally interact with employees through
an open door policy and responded personally to emails. This is reminiscent of Welch s
leadership at GE. Moreover, businesses should incur worthwhile risks to generate more income in
addition to addressing the needs of their target audience. Businesses can learn from the Randy
McNally case that proper planning is essential to a business, which is opposite to what boo.com
did hence their failure. Like, GE, Income, Mashaweer, and B N, Rand McNally chose to address
the needs of its clients.

The Voter Turnout In Texas
The voter turnout in Texas has been low for a very long time. For the past 50 years the numbers of
citizens that participate in the national, state, and local elections have decreased. Voters turn out is
the percentage of voters that are able to vote legally, that actually cast a vote in the elections. There
are a number of things that can increase the percentage but I m sure these examples will never
happen. I believe that the voter turnoutis low because people aren t into politics because many
believe they are all corrupt. People rather not vote because they believe their vote won t make a
difference but in reality I will make an impact. There are other reasons people choose not to vote
such as not being registered, disabilities, being

The And Environmental Energy Conservation
PERSONAL STATEMENT DRAFT_081114
Growing up my dad would always say switch off the lights, save power and do not waste things,
other people need to use it those statements instilled in me an indelible dislike for wastage of any
kind and to be considerate of other people s needs like just my dad. These doctrines helped also
helped to forge my interest in recycling and environmental energy conservation especially now
as the demand for energy resources is growing at an alarming rate. Chevron PLC stated in an
article that the world population which is currently around 7 billion is projected to grow by an
additional 1 billion in the next 12 years, especially in NOECD or developing countries as
predicted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), this growth would result in more
demand for energy resources particularly global fossil fuel consumption, clean water supply,
electricity as well as food, public health services and shelter.
Having grown up in Nigeria, a country with a population of 167 million persons and ranked as
the seventh crude oil producer in the world and the largest oil producing country in Africa, it is
ironic that about 117.8 million Nigerians rely on fuels such as animal dung, crop residues, wood,
charcoal and kerosene as sources of energy to cook and to power lanterns, an estimated 60 million
Nigerians own generators, and spend an estimated N1.56 trillion ($13.35m) annually to power them.

Describe Helenwood
Growing up in small town makes trying to figure out you re purpose in life in my opinion, a
little harder. It makes it very difficult to break away from the small town roots that you grew up
knowing. I grew up in a small town named Helenwood, Tennessee, to me, the greatest place on
earth. Others would definitely disagree with me and I m well aware of that, but I consider this
place like a Garden of Eden. Helenwood is a tiny town on the outskirts of East Tennessee. Here,
everyone knows just about everyone, you attend church every time the doors are open and ride
the dirt roads on the weekend. Being from a small town very much shaped whom I grew up to be

Helenwood has many dirt roads and trails. The scenery surrounding these trails is absolutely
beautiful. Since there isn t much to do in Helenwood, riding dirt roads becomes something you
learn to love. People get together in their jeeps, four wheelers, and other ATVs and ride to the top
of Chitwood Mountain, a popular off road area. Here, people just sit around and shoot the bull
around a fire. A popular off road event held in Huntsville, Tennessee, near Helenwood, is called The
White Knuckle Event on Brimstone. Brimstone is an outdoor recreation offering the adventure
seeker the ultimate outdoor experience. Many people from all over the country come here to attend
this event. During this event, people ride one of the many trails located on Brimstone until the
concert begins. Many country singers, such as Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell, Hank Williams Jr.,
Justin Moore, etc have performed at this local event. All of this might sound boring to some, but
it is what I grew up knowing and where I planted my roots. Some of the best memories I have
made in my lifetime have been on these dirt roads with all my friends. I will reminisce on these
memories for years to

In the Millionaire: The Philanderer, Gambler, and Duelist Who Invented Modern Finance,
Gleeson (2001) provided an account of John Law s case. In the book, she highlighted the fact
that people can make fortunes and lose them eventually due to various reasons. She also
depicted that the poor and the low class people could become rich while the high class people
could collapse. Eventually, Gleeson accomplishes her objective in addressing this philosophy.
She outlined how John Law made his way from a life of gambling to one of the richest men who
ever lived during the seventeenth century. Through the book, Gleeson (2001) explained how Law
and many other middle class people in France became rich due to Law s paper money policy. She

The book I Survived the Bombing of Pearl Harbor was written by Lauren Tarshis . This book;
like most historical fiction books; mixed actual events with fictional characters. I overall liked

events. The summary of the book is about a boy named Danny who lived with his Ma in New
York City, but that all changed when Finn; a friend of Danny; fell off a balcony and got hurt.
Danny s Ma then decided to move to Hawaii because she thought it was much safer there; Danny
really wanted to get back to New York and Finn; he even thought about stowing away on a ship that
traveled between Hawaii and California. Then he met a boy named Aki; and later his mother

Close Reading of What the Snakes Brings to the World by...
What the Snake Brings to the World is a 2002 poem by the Canadian poet Lorna Crozier. The
poem is free verse, with four stanzas of 6, 4, 4 and 9 lines respectively. The poem is riddled with
Biblical allusions, with the snake being its focal point, making extensive comment on the nature
and consequences of the aforementioned snake. A dominant reading of the poem outlines the
duplicity of the nature of evil and sin and related consequences. An alternate reading of the poem
conveys the idea of the human progression reflected by post lapsarian linguistics. Finally, a resistant
reading attacks the very nature, role and impacts of the Judaeo Christian tradition, claiming it to be
fault laden.
The primary, dominant, idea being conveyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The end of the poem confirms that without the snake that is modern linguistics, we d have to
live with the singular of everything , expressively oppressed by the lack of freedom within dated
language systems that existed before the Fall of Man. However, there is possible ambivalence
within in poem, as the final word is truth with a capital T , a letter previously sidelined along with
its association to dated and useless language systems. This may possibly suggest that there is in
fact room for pre lapsarian linguistics, but perhaps only within a Biblical context.
A resistant reading of the poem uncovers the idea that religion, specifically the Judeo Christian
religious tradition, is intrinsically harmful and retrogressive in nature. If the snake is interpreted as
a synecdoche for Judaeo Christian religious tradition as a whole, a profoundly negative opinion of
such an ideology is formed throughout the poem. Without the snake that is this religion, there
would be no pain and suffering . The poem asks, what could bear such a weight , interrogating the
conscience of religion, implying guilt on its behalf. Furthermore, the imagery suggested in the
second stanza surrounding the snake s shadow evokes negative ideas concerning the nature of the
religion, which is further bolstered by its ability to separate itself from this shadow, and to move on

Pros And Cons Of Vice President Joe Biden
This week, speculation about a potential presidential run from Vice President Joe Biden has
increased. Maureen Dowd, a columnist for the New York Times wrote that the death of his son,
Beau, has caused him to reconsider running in the 2016 election. She reports that he has been
meeting with friends and family about becoming a candidate. Dowd never named any sources and
the credibility of the report is not good. But it has ignited a debate this week over whether the 72
year old Vice President, will run, should run, and any possible question less certain the media can
ask than Will Hillary win the Democratic nomination? Biden has not ruled out a third presidential
campaign but has done nothing to indicate one either. Aides say many condolence... Show more

Biden is well liked by nearly everyone in Washington and his supportive role in the Obama
administration has helped his stature. He s seen as an authentic and funny guy. While Biden
makes a great Onion headline and uncle, his vulnerabilities make him not a great candidate for
president. Biden s previous presidential campaigns have been terribly executed. In 1988, Biden
plagiarized speeches from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign.
Biden ran for president in 2008 as well, earning less than one percent of the vote in Iowa. Biden
s foreign policy and national security record is slim at best. Obama s first secretary of defense
wrote that he found him nearly always wrong on issues of foreign policy and national security.
Despite recent drop in polling numbers, over 75 percent of Democrats support Hillary. She s
garnered more endorsements at this stage of the election than any modern era. She s raised 68
million dollars. Biden doesn t have a significant advantage over Hillary in the general election. If
voters are tired of Obama and Democrats, they re tired of Biden as well. His age is also a
hinderance as well. While Americans aren t concerned about a 72 year old executing the duties of
vice president, most don t know what a vice president does. Biden would be 74 on the date of his
potential inauguration. Reagan was nearly 70. If for some reason Clinton bombs out of the race,
Biden is the candidate with the best odds. But until then, the odds of him winning the Democratic
nomination aren t good enough for him to

When they eat those foods, the bacteria create an acid that attacks tooth enamel and causes decay.
The acids that cause tooth demineralization (cavity formation) are produced by specific types of
bacteria (mutans streptococci and lactobacilli) that live in dental plaque.
These bacteria are living organisms just like we are. When we consume foods and beverages, we
create waste products. Bacteria do the same thing. The bacteria that cause tooth decay utilize sugars
(glucose, sucrose, fructose, lactose, or cooked starches) as their food source. The waste products
created from digesting these sugars are the acids (especially lactic acid) that cause the
demineralization of tooth enamel and dentin.
Since the bacteria that live in our mouth eat when we do, as we ingest foods which contain
sugars (such as soda, candy, milk, and even fruits and vegetables) these bacteria get a meal too.
And within minutes they start producing the acids that cause tooth decay. Bacteria that are
exposed to sugars or carbohydrates can make acid, which attacks the crystal like substance in the
tooth s outer surface. This process is known as demineralization. The first sign of this is a chalky
white spot. Acid formation, and hence tooth demineralization, begins within minutes of the
bacteria receiving a sugary meal. It can take up to several hours for saliva to penetrate the layer of
dental plaque and neutralize these acids. At this stage, the decay process can be reversed. Using

The Atmosphere Built Up By Jonny Greenwood
There Will Be Blood takes place in the early 1900 s, where prospector Daniel Plainview sets out
on a journey to claim his fortune though oil drilling. The longing for riches, and the slow accent
into madness are the key components in what makes the film and it s character so enticing. The
atmosphere built up by Daniel is completed by the unique orchestral sounds; feelings of woe,
suspense, fear, and uncertain conclusions are skillfully captured. The pace of the film, the various
scores, and a deeply driven character all sum up to a masterfully skilled piece of work. Scored by
Jonny Greenwood, lead guitarist from the band RadioHead, uses his skills as a composer to
deliver a unique sound that pairs well with the film. Described as RadioHead s jack of all trades,
Greenwood is skilled in plying not only the guitar, but also the xylophone, sampler, keyboards
and the ondes Marenot, the instrument used in the film (Bekkala). Showing his master in rock;
his interest span to other genres including classical. His inspirations come from Messiaen and
Ligeti, two paramount 20th century composers skilled in serialism and postmodernism
respectively. Their influences are clearly shown in Greenwood s There Will Be Blood scores.
Another composer, Penderecki,a modern skilled composer and conductor also shows in
Greenwood s work. I love hearing Penderecki played by live orchestras there s noting like it... But

How Is Language Used In Her First Ball
Katherine Mansfield s short story Her First Ball introduces us to Leila, a country girl on her way
to her first ball with her cousins, the Sheridan sisters. A range of language features convey Leila s
attitude of naive and excitement as the ball begins, and her transition to a young woman who is
more socially experienced and mature by the end of the story. The story conveys the message that
loss of innocence and youthful fantasy is an inevitable and vital part of the transition from
adolescence to adulthood. At the beginning of the story, Leila s attitude towards the ball is one of
exuberance as she has ever experienced anything like it before. Mansfield uses expressive language

Equity in Education
Introduction
According to Nielsen (2013), in the United States, the government has been working hard in the due
process of providing education to the children in the country. Despite the efforts that have been
initiated by the United States education department, there is a problem of equity in education
access around the nation. There are a good number of students who do not have the same
opportunities as others when it comes to the education sector. For instance, in most cases, the
quality of education that a student will get depends with their social class in the community. Those
with a weak living condition are less likely to have the same quality of education as those who
belong to the wealthy families. Therefore, the importance of equity, issues with sameness and the
strategies suggested by Natalie (2013) and the report by the equity and excellence commission will
form the basis of discussion for this paper.
Importance of education equity
Economic improvement
When each child gets equal access to education, the result is always a working and productive
portion of the country s population. With the state having a large percentage of working people,
there is a remarkable improvement realized in the economy due to the high revenues collected by
the government. For instance, if the low performing would have hard better measures to ensure
educational equity, each would have

  • 2. The, Peace, Night, Day, Love, Hate Introduction Binaries are embedded within every facet of our perceptions. War, peace, night, day, love, hate; we are inclined to believe that every subject, idea, and thing has a polarizing companion. While this paradigm may be beneficial in understanding the distinction and differences between these pairs, it fails to entertain an idea even more compelling; that these polar opposites may not in fact be that different from one another, and the bold notion that these dichotomies might not be as real as we presume. Art and physics have been traditionally painted as polar opposites; neither resembling the other even remotely. One is rational, objective, and logical, while the other is interpretive, subjective, and, at times, seemingly illogical. While these superficial characteristics make a persuasive argument for an antagonistic relationship between these subjects, it fails to acknowledge their overarching commonality. Both disciplines have rich and prolific histories, saturated with radical ideas, incredible individuals, and ground breaking discoveries and progressions. These rich histories have provided the necessary foundation for the modern interpretations of these subjects and all the wonderful innovations and understandings this modernity has entailed. While many factors, movements, and people are responsible for this progression, two such movements in particular have caused radical paradigm shifts in their respective disciplines. Impressionism and Albert Einstein s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The company would seek to strengthen further Lenovo s brand image with a series of new product introductions. Lenovo would invest in R D. International expansion would entail developing international distribution channels and incurring substantial marketing and sales costs. Lenovo s global expansion began with a move into Hong Kong, with plans to enter the U.S. and Europe after that. One approach would be to acquire foreign companies with distribution capabilities while another would be to rely on wholesalers and retailers for distribution, and the company would need to compare the costs and benefits of alternative distribution channels. Meanwhile IBM was having losses for 3 years and a half. So Lenovo stood to gain scale from the acquisition because it might benefit from economies of scale in manufacturing. In ... • 5. The Greenhouse Effect On Earth When you hear about global warming many things come to mind. The greenhouse effect, pollution, carbon dioxide and of course, the earths temperatures rising. When people hear of the greenhouse effect do they actually know what it is. The suns UV rays hit the earth and 30% of the energy reflected back into space, 47% gets absorbed by gasses and turns into heat energy. The rest is shared between the water cycle, photosynthesis Some of the heat tries to escape back into the atmosphere but is trapped by the greenhouse gasses. This in turn makes eartha liveable planet. Without these greenhouse gasses the earth would have an average temperature of 18 degrees instead of a nice liveable 15 degrees Celsius. So the greenhouse effect is supposed to be a good thing. It makes life on planet earth possible. However, with the increase of greenhouse gasses the earth is absorbing a lot more heat than it needs. When there are too many greenhouse gasses floating around the atmosphere and excess heat becomes trapped causing earths temperature to rise. The enhanced greenhouse effect causes global warming. Simply put, global warming is earths temperatures increasing due to pollution. The first person to predict global warming was a Swedish chemist named Svante Arrhenius. He predicted that with the increasing amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Between 1880 and 1940 the temperature rose but then dropped between 1940 and 1970. Because of the drop there looked to be no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Levi s Case Analysis Video Case Study Analysis ARTI MUNSHI Levi s Not by Jeans Alone With other companies starting to encroach upon the Jeans market share, Levi s decided to introduce a new product. With the goal to gain profits, Levi s pursued diversification with the new product. This product was formal clothing for men. Levi s divided the consumers into five segments based on demographics, attitudes and beliefs. Q2 and Q1 appeared to be desirable target segments, however, Levi s decided to focus on the Q2 consumers, the classic independent males. These consumers were well dressed, cared about their appearance, shopped alone and mostly at specialty stores. They weren t price sensitive and preferred wool/wool blends in conservative colors. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Levi s decided to place their product in department stores as they had good relations with the retailers due to their volume sales of jeans. They did not have any real relationship with the specialty stores where the independent male shopped. Rather than placing their new products which would be considered as high end in these specialty stores and where they would be among the lower price range, they chose to place their products in the department stores where their products showed a deviation from the regular Levi formula and were considered very pricy as compared to other high end department store brands such as Haggar s. This price raised some concerns among the retailers as they were unsure if Levi s formal wear would move out of the stores at a required pace. Also, due to price quality inference, if Levi s was placed in a specialty store, the Q2 customer might prefer to buy a more expensive product. Levi tried to sell these formal clothes in the same stores as their casual clothes for the same segment of customers. Customers saw these formal clothes at the same place priced higher than the casuals, and therefore found them to be expensive. Due to the above reasons and lack of promotion, Levi s achieved only 65% of their sales target. They promoted the wrong product under their brand, for the wrong price at the wrong place. They failed to understand the needs of their customers. Levi s would have been able to avoid these mishaps if they changed their target ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Effects of Differing Response-Force Requirement in... Introduction Previous research have demonstrated that avoidance responding is influenced by shock intensity and duration (Leander, 1973; de Souza et al., 1984; Badia et al., 1973). Powell (1970) investigated the effect of two shock intensities in single and multiple avoidance schedules and found that the higher shock intensity was generally more effective in producing avoidance responding. Leander (1973) investigated the effects of shock intensity and duration on free operant avoidance. The results indicated that shock intensity and shock duration combine in a multiplicative fashion to determine the avoidance performance. The relation between shock intensity and shock duration suggested that longer shock durations can be substituted with lower shock intensities (Leander, 1973). The increased strength and magnitude of shock predicted higher rates of avoidance responding. However, there seems to be a minimum threshold for shock to establish and maintain avoidance responding. De Souza et al. (1984) found that there are individual differences in sensitivity to shock. There was a minimum shock intensity necessary to establish and maintain avoidance responding; and intensities higher than this minimum value had little or no effect on responding (de Souza et al., 1984). This suggests that once the range of minimum threshold sensitivity to shock for individuals in a group is identified, any shock intensity higher than largest value in the range can potentially establish and ... • 15. Analysis of Statistical Data Statistics In the Smith, et al (2006) study, 26 patients were used. They all had COPD that was stable, and they all complained of coughing. Their age, mean FEV, and smoking history were all accounted and controlled for (Smith, et al, 2006). Methods used involved a cough challenge test, sound recordings of their cough day and night, and a questionnaire that involved their perceived quality of life (Smith, et al, 2006). The coughs were actually manually counted and then translated to coughs per hour. The cough seconds per hour was quantified based on the number of seconds in each recorded hour that contained a cough. The overall median time that was spent coughing was calculated to be 7.5 cough seconds for every hour, although this lessened considerably at night (Smith, et al, 2006). The subjective cough scores were taken into account and compared with the actual cough seconds per hour. It was found that the study participants often thought that they spent more time coughing than what the data indicated to b accurate (Smith, et al, 2006). By looking at the statistical data used (median cough seconds per hour), it can be seen that people with COPD do not (on average) spend that many seconds per hour coughing. However, because of the disruptive nature of coughing repeatedly throughout that hour, these individuals often think they spend much more time coughing than they actually do (Smith, et al, 2006). This was evidenced by the fact that a subjective measure of coughing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Shakespeare (1564 1616) is recorded to have written 37 plays and 154 sonnets, but the authorship of Shakespeare s work has been disputed. There is valid reason to believe that Francis Bacon is the genuine author behind Shakespeare s name. Bacon s similar high status, numerous travels, and the Baconian theory are valuable reasons that give evidence to Bacon possibly being the author. • 21. Cause And Effect Essay On Drivers Driving Automobile accidents are a leading cause of death in the United States today. A high percentage of these accidents are caused by elderly drivers who are not fit to drive. Health issues, lack of knowledge of new driving laws, or the development of bad driving habits are some factors that contribute to this issue. However, not all older drivers are dangerous behind the wheel. Actually, many are safer drivers than their younger counterparts. They are more cautious, adapt to weather conditions better, and tend to be less distracted behind the wheel. But the government should not ignore the elderly drivers who have killed others while behind the wheel due to age related issues. Licensed drivers over the age of 65 should be required to retake their driving test every year due to health issues that come with age, updated driving laws, and bad driving habits that develop over time. Health issues that come with age can heavily affect a driver s ability to control an automobile safely. Dementia, strokes, and impaired vision are just a few examples of many health issues that cause some senior drivers to be unfit to drive. Dementia affects its victims by severely decreasing thinking skills and causing memory loss. When a stroke occurs, blood flow is cut off from the brain, which eliminates the driver s ability to control their vehicle. The chance of a stroke increases tremendously with age. The good thing about films is that we not only have the opportunity to choose from a wide selection of different genres, but also compare them and understand their purpose in the world. The Horror genre has used the basic principles throughout time, and as a result, films of this type have not proven to be as timeless as another genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy. At first, these two genres might at times seem similar as they have at several occasions been blended together, but their basic, common theme serves different meanings about humans. I shall compare and contrast these two genres and focus on both classic films and modern films. From the Horror genre perspective I shall discuss Psycho(1960) and The Mist (2007), while in the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre I will examine 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), Pan s Labyrinth (2006), and Serenity (2005). Although the Science Fiction/Fantasy genre and the Horror Genre share some similarities, the differences lie in their focus on humanprogress. The genres relationship lies in the danger of human lives in an unfamiliar milieu. There is a threat to the lives of the characters whose fear and danger is a common element. The source of this can be from both humans and imaginary monsters. The horror films Psycho and The Mist both have humans as the real threat to the main characters. Unfortunately UV is an aiding factor of the bees vision and orientation. Under glass with a good UV transmission (up to 80%), bees behave normally. Under PVC or PC, with a very low UV transmission (less than 3%), they perform poorly, at least until they learn to cope with the lack of UV vision ( Rosalind James and Theresa L. It also recommends having a sufficient floral supply when using solitary bees in order to warrant successful reproduction. Also oil prices continue to skyrocket while tougher regulations and policies on permitted exhaust gases are being instituted in major cities of the world. These and some other related issues are compelling vehicle manufacturers to come up with fuel efficient vehicles. These types of vehicles are known as hybrid electric vehicles (Omoigui). Since their invention, most cars use an internal combustion engine, which is what all engines that use a fuel and pistons. These ICE cars run off of only gas and other forms of fossil fuels. On the other side of the spectrum, there have more recently been completely electric cars that are quiet and have a large amount of batteries. In the middle of these two is the hybrid car; there are six different kinds of hybrid configurations between the ICE and the batteries all with pros and cons. • 33. How A Company Can Use Its Weaknesses And Opportunities The GE case is an example of how a company can use its weaknesses and opportunities to further its progress. The company saw the potential of the internet in changing businesses. Moreover, for a change to be effective and be felt across the organization, it must start from the top as Jack Welch showed by taking typing classes. Further, companies should embrace technology involve their clients whenever planning to change. This was seen when GE decided to launch the icenter to connect with customers on its products and services. GE s strategy, like the other companies, chose to change its way of doing businessby embracing the power of the internet and seeking to be a leader in the field (Laudon Laudon, 2014). Rand McNally, on the other hand, provides businesses with lessons, such as changing the corporate culture to embrace productivity. The company had to do away with the conservative corporate culture. The CEO of the company chose to personally interact with employees through an open door policy and responded personally to emails. This is reminiscent of Welch s leadership at GE. Moreover, businesses should incur worthwhile risks to generate more income in addition to addressing the needs of their target audience. Businesses can learn from the Randy McNally case that proper planning is essential to a business, which is opposite to what boo.com did hence their failure. The poem is free verse, with four stanzas of 6, 4, 4 and 9 lines respectively. The poem is riddled with Biblical allusions, with the snake being its focal point, making extensive comment on the nature and consequences of the aforementioned snake. A dominant reading of the poem outlines the duplicity of the nature of evil and sin and related consequences. Finally, a resistant reading attacks the very nature, role and impacts of the Judaeo Christian tradition, claiming it to be fault laden. The primary, dominant, idea being conveyed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The end of the poem confirms that without the snake that is modern linguistics, we d have to live with the singular of everything , expressively oppressed by the lack of freedom within dated language systems that existed before the Fall of Man. However, there is possible ambivalence within in poem, as the final word is truth with a capital T , a letter previously sidelined along with its association to dated and useless language systems. This may possibly suggest that there is in fact room for pre lapsarian linguistics, but perhaps only within a Biblical context. A resistant reading of the poem uncovers the idea that religion, specifically the Judeo Christian religious tradition, is intrinsically harmful and retrogressive in nature. If the snake is interpreted as a synecdoche for Judaeo Christian religious tradition as a whole, a profoundly negative opinion of such an ideology is formed throughout the poem. Without the snake that is this religion, there would be no pain and suffering . The poem asks, what could bear such a weight , interrogating the conscience of religion, implying guilt on its behalf. In 1988, Biden plagiarized speeches from a British politician, destroying any chance of a successful campaign. When they eat those foods, the bacteria create an acid that attacks tooth enamel and causes decay. The acids that cause tooth demineralization (cavity formation) are produced by specific types of bacteria (mutans streptococci and lactobacilli) that live in dental plaque. These bacteria are living organisms just like we are. When we consume foods and beverages, we create waste products. Bacteria do the same thing. The bacteria that cause tooth decay utilize sugars (glucose, sucrose, fructose, lactose, or cooked starches) as their food source. The waste products created from digesting these sugars are the acids (especially lactic acid) that cause the demineralization of tooth enamel and dentin. Since the bacteria that live in our mouth eat when we do, as we ingest foods which contain sugars (such as soda, candy, milk, and even fruits and vegetables) these bacteria get a meal too. And within minutes they start producing the acids that cause tooth decay. Bacteria that are exposed to sugars or carbohydrates can make acid, which attacks the crystal like substance in the tooth s outer surface. This process is known as demineralization. The first sign of this is a chalky white spot. Acid formation, and hence tooth demineralization, begins within minutes of the bacteria receiving a sugary meal. It can take up to several hours for saliva to penetrate the layer of dental plaque and neutralize these acids. At this stage, the decay process can be reversed. Using ...
