Psychological Effects Of Cocaine
Cocaine
Cocaine is a hard substance, but in order to fully understand how cognitive behavorial therapy
works, we must first understand cocaine and the effects it has on the body. Cocaine is obviously
a strong drug. The leaves are grown in South America and the whole plant itself is very dangerous
that affects the person physically. When the powdered form is in play, it is usually snorted or
inhaled where the nasal tissue absorbs it. Once absorbed it will then be injected into the
bloodstream ( National Institute, 2013 ). Although it creates a euphoria and even energy, it can also
cause the heart rate and blood pressure to increase. Along with that, the respiratory rate increases
as well and so does their sweating while their appetite is suppressed (Maisto, 2015). Their blood

Basically amplifying the amount of dopamine within, and causes a disturbance with brain
communication ( National Institute, 2013 ). This is what makes cocaine enticing; the high that
people are looking for. Being really social and talkative is one of the positive effects of cocaine.
Users have a sense of bliss and are very happy and they are more alert and aroused. Their
performance might even be better as well (Maisto, 2015). However, this is only for a short
duration. When cocaine is used for a long period of time, it creates dependence to it, because the
tolerance to it also increases. Cocaine abusers will fill the withdrawals associated with it, and
think they will need another dose. Only the next time, they decide to increase the dose, because it
doesn t quite feel as potent as before. By doing this, and increasing dosages, cocaine abusers are
setting themselves up for addiction. Then they feel that there is no way out simply because they can
t deal with the withdrawal

Canada Day Essay
On Canada Day, we celebrate our great country; a nation that allows us to be Canadian while
rejoicing in our personal heritage and diversity.
While countries around the world struggle with the notion of immigration, Torontonians can take
pride in a recent BBC study that declared Toronto as the most diverse city in the world.
It couldn t be a more fitting time for the new Toronto Ward Museum to begin operations. The
museum seeks to create a space for the life stories of everyday people to be heard. It also challenges
Torontonians to connect stories of the city s past, not only to their own history, but to current issues
affecting newcomer communities today.
While the task may seem daunting, the Toronto Ward Museum has already begun to tell the city s
local stories in an unconventional way through food.
This past week, the museum initiated the Dishing Up Toronto program with three walking tours in
Toronto and its suburbs. Immigrants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enjoyment and appreciation of food is universal and has provided so many bridges between
disparate cultures. Chinese food was adapted for Western palates and became the main attraction for
people to venture into Chinatown and have the chance to meet and learn about Chinese people.
City Councillor Mary Fragedakis, attended one of the Dishing Up Toronto tours. It is just wonderful
how the Ward Museum wraps together fabulous food, history, cultureand learning into a truly
enchanting experience, she explains.
Gracia Dyer Jalea, co founder of the Toronto Ward Museum, obviously agrees. History often gets
told by an elite few. The life stories of everyday people are seldom recognized, she says. Food has
the ability to open people s minds and hearts, she adds. It is an intimate experience that can create
space for dialogue. It can bring us together!
Ahead of Canada, we can all say bon apetit to

The Role Of Technology In The Modern American Household
Over the past 30 years, technology has made great strides towards becoming a fundamental part of
our everyday lives; and for millions of parents and their children, it already is. The modern
American household is catered towards the technologically inclined computers, tablets, gaming
systems, and smart TVs have become commonplace in many homes. Not only do they serve their
practical purpose, but devices such as these also offer many opportunites for children and toddlers
to learn, play, and experience things they d previously been unable to. Many might challenge ideas
such as this without outdated statistics or conservative mindsets, but the truth of the matter is, the
technological era has arrived; and our children need to learn how to live in it.
With the growing population of middle class households that have access to internet and cable,
educational programming has seen a burst in activity and popularity. Families that were otherwise
unable to access educational TV and games before are now able to do so, and their children have
the opportunity to learn and play as they never have before. Increased exposure to such educational
mediums has allowed for households with young children to experience types of knowledge and
interaction that they ve never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Food Labeling Research Paper
Food safety and grocery costs are two important issues to me and thousands of others here in the
U.S. That s why I would like you to support a new piece of legislation, known as the Safe and
Accurate Food Labeling Act.
This new bill will address two important topics, GMOs and the need for a nationwide set of
standards regarding the labeling of our food. The bill will give the Food and Drug Administration
additional oversight and tools to guarantee the safety of new GMOs before they re introduced
into our food supply. It will also set a standard for food labeling in our country. The FDA would
be able to certify food as GMO free, and manufacturers would have to pass a series of tests to
prove that their food is indeed GMO free before the FDA would allow them to put the GMO free
label on their food. This new standard for food labeling would ensure consistency across the
country and would help prevent prices from rising at the grocery store. If costs were to increase
much more than they already have, I wouldn t be able to afford a lot of the products that I currently
buy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I d also like a national standard in place to make my grocery shopping easier. I d like to feel
confident knowing that what I m buying is labeled correctly. This will be easily done if the
FDA is allowed to implement a national set of standards for food labels. Right now, there is no
such set of standards, and, as a result, individual states are beginning to implement their own
laws for labeling food. This is a terrible idea because it will result in higher food costs and more
confusion for consumers. Manufacturers will have to create a different label for every state where
their product is sold. This added expense would be passed on to consumers at the grocery store,
and I don t think that s

WhatВґs Neonatal Jaundice
Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants
will develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong
Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to
prevent acute bilirubinencephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus
(American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of
unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after
discharge home will now be discussed. Risk assessment for jaundice should be performed on an
infant before discharge from the hospital, using TB or transcutaneous bilirubin and/or assessment
of risk factors. Therefore, if the TB is plotted on a nomogram prior to discharge, the PNP will
have an idea about the infants risk for developing hyperbilirubinemia at the initial newborn visit
and can guide the need for laboratory evaluation. If this is not available, the PNP should be aware
of major risk factors for the development of hyperbilirubinemia including jaundice present in the
first 24 hours of life, blood group incompatibility, gestational age of 35 36 weeks, sibling history of
phototherapy, cephalohematoma or significant bruising, exclusive breastfeeding, and East Asian
race (AAP, 2004).
Recommendations for laboratory evaluation with a TB include every infant who is jaundiced in the
first 24 hours after birth,

Future Visions of America in Looking Backward by Edward...
Published in 1888 Looking Backward depicts a future vision of America. Utopian Boston of the
year 2000 is designed in a constructive method that excludes capitalism. Through the medium of
romantic novel, Bellamy seeks to impose the idea of socialism into the nineteenth century American
society. Written at a period when economic growth went off the rails triggering the rise in unequal
distribution of wealth, Looking Backward attempts to propose a reform in social and economic
systems.
From the eyes of the narrator, the novel presents a spectrum of changes and possibilities for the 19th
century audience. Plagued by the social chaos of the Gilded Age, Julian West falls asleep with
difficulty in 1887 to wake up to the Boston of year 2000, and finds out that all the evils bothering
him in the 19th century have been cast aside.
As the last sparkles of the Civil War cooled down, a period of transformation took over U.S. and
the endeavour to restore post Civil War economy initiated. The Gilded Age, as Mark Twain referred,
was a time identified with economic boom and social change. During those years, U.S. experienced
the transition from agricultural to urban together with industrialisation, scientific innovations and
an economic boom. This modernisation evolvement however, was followed by negative outcomes:
as labour demand amplified the need for immigration broke out and poverty became a remarkable
issue. What is more, the growth of middle class and its insatiable appetite

Conditioned Emotional Response
A conditioned emotional response is seen in classical conditioning after a conditioned stimulus has
been paired with an emotion producing unconditioned stimulus. In other words it is an emotional
response that has been classically conditioned to occur to learned stimuli. Watson and Rayner
created this for the first time with little Albert when he was about eight months and twenty six days.
They struck a hammer against a suspended steel bar and at the third time was when little Albert
reacted and began to cry. The next time they tested a conditioned emotional response was when
little Albert was at the age of eleven months. They created this conditioned emotional response by
starting off the experiment with a white rat. At the beginning little

On September 11, 2001 the United States became ground for numerous terrorist attacks, killing
many innocent Americans. One of the attacks included the crashing of United Airlines Flight
93. The plan crashed at 10:03 A.M into a field in Shanksville Pennsylvania at 580 mph. It was
Boeing 757 that held 37 passengers and 7 crew members that all were killed from the crash. The
flights path was originally suppose to fly from Newark, New Jersey to San Francisco, California,
until four Muslim Hijackers took control of the plane and were headed toward Washington D.C

They don t understand how is debris from the plane crash could have been able to travel that far
from the impact with out being struck by something before it crashed. They give three examples
of historic plane crashes such as, Turkish Airlines Flight 981, Air India 182, and Japan Flight
123. All three crashes left behind a good size of wreckage, numerous bodies and one, Japan
Flight 123, even managed to have 4 survivors (Avery). So how does a Boeing 757 and all its
passengers completely disappear they ask. Then they go on to show the reports that no jet fuel
was left behind in water or soil from the department of environmental protection. They also
questioned how that could have been possible when the plane crashed with 5,000 gallons or
37,500 pounds of jet fuel. Lastly the documentary states the fragile items that were left behind,
such as a red bandana, the hijacker s driver s license, passports, and a Marriot hotel card from the
flight attendant. They overall conclude that there was no way a 757 could have crashed on that
day. They claim it had to have been a smaller plane shot down as a cover up and that the original
plane landed somewhere safely. Another source from BBC news argues differently. They say there
are clear pictures that show airplane wreckage and that the cockpit voice recorder showed that the
passenger tried to regain control of the plane. They also

The Importance Of Life In A Boarding School
Boarding school compares to an exclusive club as there is a huge advantage of attending
boarding school for students can garner social and cultural capital. Being in a boarding school,
in of itself, is a privilege. However, the students themselves in Old School see privilege tied
strictly to socioeconomic background. Nonetheless, students divide themselves between the
disadvantaged and privileged, while others put on a facade to appear more wealthy. The book
tells the story of an unnamed narrator, most likely Tobias Wolff himself, who attends a
pretentious male boarding school during the 1960s. Therefore, the narrator, a competitive writer,
competes with other boys alike to gain the attention of famous authors and poets like Ernest
Hemingway and Robert Frost. While social pressures force students to worry with their social
status, the narrator becomes fixated on writing stories that are utopian in nature so not to reveal
his mundane and blue collared lifestyle. Privileged students from upper class backgrounds
experience the utmost respect of the school and simultaneously never have to worry about an
empty future. Specifically, Jeff Purcell is one of the characters in the novel who comes from a
long line of privileged heritage and is proud, stubborn, and judgmental of every other student. In
the opening of the novel, the narrator notes that class is a depth of ease in certain boys, their innate
affable assurance that they would not have to struggle for a place in the world,

Schlieffen Plan Failure
When war was declared in 1914, the Germans had devised a plan to avoid fighting a two front
war against both, Russia and France; the Schlieffen Plan. The plan however, did not solve
Germany s problem of a two front war and the leadership of Helmuth von Moltke determined its
failure, to a great extent, but not entirely; erroneous assumptions the plan was based on and
countless mistakes made on the battlefield also contributed to its lack of success.
The Schlieffen Plan was devised to prevent fighting war on two fronts simultaneously, against
France and Russia, aiming to defeat France before Russia could Mobilize. Both Winter
(1993,pg.60) and McAndrew (2005,pg.56) concurred the plan was devised by Count Alfred von
Schlieffen, Chief of the German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The plan had failed to take into account human endurance, the First Army had to cover 30 40km
per day to reach the required goal of the Schlieffen plan, many men were physically exhausted by
early September others reduced to fifty percent of their original strength, Winter (1993,pg.64). The
fast pace of the plan caused a delay in communications between the front and the commanding
officers back in Luxemburg, leading to ill advised advances on the battlefield, (Winter
1993,pg.64). Both Morgan (2001,pg.6) and the authors of The Great War Sources and Evidence
Stewart, Fitzgerald and Pilchard (1995,pg.37) agreed there were a number of weaknesses in the
plan; the time anticipated for Russia to mobilize was over estimated. Stewart (1995,pg.37)
comments; Russia had developed into a momentous military power between the formulation of the
Schlieffen Plan and the actual war. Evidently Moltke moved soldiers from the right flank over to
the eastern front to hold off the Russians. Author of Expanding Worlds, (Sauvain 1993,pg.94)
remarks; the violation of Belgium neutrality proved to be a stumbling block, Belgium offered more
resistance than planned for, inevitably allowing the British to cross the channel and be ready to
help France by the time the Germans had arrived. The strength of support the British gave the
French was also greatly misjudged; as Guest, Laurence and Eshuy (1990,pg.53) authors of World
War I Causes, Courses and Consequences identified, the Germans had to bring up heavy artillery to
defeat the British Expedition Force at the Battle of the Mons, eventually the British retreated, but
the Germans were slowed down dramatically. Consequently, their attack plan was revealed to the
French; therefore by the time the right flank had reached the Marne, the French had launched a
counter attack, which resulted in the

Why Do People Use Drones
War has been a part of life for centuries, from the days of sword and shield to advanced rifles with
high fire rates. Conflict is a part of human life and it is inevitable no matter the preparation.
Mankind has always sought to improve their means of fighting in hopes to preserve peace with the
newest weapon unveiled being the drone. When waroutbreaks, drones are used to great extent, they
are efficient and coordinated, calculated and powerful, however, drones are costly and at times
cause innocents to die. The usage of drones, however, is heavily debated.
The main cost of warfare is human life with few people hope to see their neighbors dying on the
front lines of a grueling and brutal conflict. The death of a drone is much more acceptable ... Show

In a span of hours, a Reaper can wipe out a terrorist alcove, and as described by Jeff Davis, a
pentagon spokesman, A senior leader of the group, Noureddine Chouchane, and 48 other Islamic
State fighters were killed (Thomas 3). A precise drone strike can wipe out dozens of hostiles, and
prevent the need for land based forces to enter the conflict and endanger themselves. The drones
also save on the manpower and strategic planning needed to coordinate a ground assault, getting
the job done quickly. Drones also add a new dimension of tactics to battles, involving much safer
air vehicles to perform bombing runs. On the other hand, drones aren t free, and are far from it.
Infantry in the modern day have a cost of roughly $17,500 per soldier (WSJ 5), a drone is much
more expensive than a single soldier. According to Joakim on Aeroweb, a Gray Eagle is roughly
$4.45 billion to purchase, and a Reaper has an average cost of $12.23 billion (Joakim 1).
Hundreds of soldiers can be outfitted and sent out compared to a single aerial drone. Humans are
also more capable of handling themselves in an armed conflict, able to think on their feet and plan
accordingly, while a drone cannot. It is utterly more cost efficient to raise an army than a

Summary Of The Song Shake It Out
Act 3 Scene 1
For this scene I chose the song Shake It Out by Florence and The Machine. I chose this song
because it talks about having a battle with yourself and not telling anyone about it. It s about
having dilemmas of whether to tell people about whatever you re having trouble with or to just
not tell anybody and keep it to yourself. A quotation from the song that explains this is: And I ve
been a fool and I ve been blind I can never leave the past behind I can see no way, I can see no
way I m always dragging that horse around. This song also describes great misunderstandings and
how the singer doesn t understand what exactly she s done or what she s going to do. This song

Positive And Negative Effects Of Censorship In Society
Censorship is the suppression, alteration, or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, music,
etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Censorship is an
action that has been performed for many years on several subjects of the world, and it is still
happening today. Although censorshipis an action occurred on many subjects, music is one of the
biggest censorship problems in today s world. Music can have both positive and negative effects
on a person in society. Either way, music shapes everyday lives of people around the world.

Protecting the young people in today s society is important because they are the future, if they are
raised right, it will be carried on to their kids and so on. Censorship of music in the United States
dates back to the 1800 s after the Civil War when people in the south were banned from singing
confederate songs. And censorship of music is still happening today. With music uncensored,
little kids and adolescents are likely to think that everything they hear in the music they listen to
is acceptable in today s society. Many songs in today s society mention use of drugs, alcohol,
sex, violence, cursing, and mistreatment of others. If people of today s society want our future
generations to be fine with these traits and acceptable with wrong things happening in our world,
vote for no censorship. Listening to society s songs uncensored will influence kids to be active
in violence, drugs, alcohol, and other disrespectful activities at a younger age. This will impact
our world to continue to roll down hill in the act of violence and war. If uncensorship impacts the

Maternity Leave In Ohio
The advantages are social and cultural, giving the mother time to destress and care for her baby,
while also taking the stress of earning money away. New mothers and families will gain the
security and safety of paid maternity leave, resulting in a better future for our state, our country.
An economical advantage is for the mothers and families who will be financially stable during this
time and without the worry of earning money they need to provide necessary, basic needs to the
newborn. By implementing this solution, lower and middle class families of Ohio are better cared
for and women get the rights they deserve. All in all, the solution will bring many positive changes
to our state. The disadvantages are mostly economical for businesses,... Show more content on

An alternative solution is that one company decided to create a program to both allow mothers
time with their child while at the same time being able to advance in their careers. Inkwell
implemented a program where mothers would work almost as if part time and still have paid leave.
They would spend about 20 hours in the work week working and the rest of the time they would
spend raising their newborn. Not only does this help the woman s career keep moving, but it also
helps her spend time properly caring for her child. The program allows for flexibility in their
schedules so they can focus on both work and family, without putting one in front of the other.
While this is progress for the issue, it only pertains to the one company. The rest of America needs
to get on board. Some of the advantages to Inkwell s solution include the family is being supported
financially, the mother can continue improving in her career, stress is taken off of the mother
because of the flexible schedule, and the company doesn t completely lose a worker. The
disadvantages of Inkwell s solution include that while the mothers are still working part time, the
employer would still need to hire and pay new employees to fill the spots while the mothers aren t
working. Another alternative solution was developed when Marisa Torrieri wrote a Forbes article
about how unpaid maternity leave could work, if the mother takes some things into consideration.
Since money is one of the main things that mothers are worried about by taking a leave, Torrieri
highlights ways to ensure the money doesn t become a problem. The first thing a mother can do
is take extra work at their job before the baby comes so they can be financially sound during the
leave. She also states that some employers may be willing to give an employee paid leave, but most
mothers are reluctant to ask. She mentions practicing saving

Beech Forest Ecosystems
BEECH FOREST ECOSYSTEMS
INTRODUCTION
This essay will look at beech forest ecosystems, describing the main characteristics, along with pre
human and current distribution of beech forests. Vegetation structure and native fauna associated
with the ecosystem will be looked at with examples of species given.
Environmental effects such as altitude, latitude, rainfall and soil drainage, and how they can affect
beech forests will be investigated. Anthropogenic effects will also be looked at, explaining how
human activity can affect ecological processes and the composition of plant and animal species
within the beech forest ecosystem.

They form the highest tree line in the Wairau Valley in the vicinity of Nelson Lakes, and at Mount
Ruapehu in Central North Island (Wardle, 1984). Silver beech dominates the wetter, western
mountains, growing from sea level to the treeline in Southland and Fiordland. Black beech forms
lowland to mountain forests on eastern slopes from Canterbury to the East Cape, and is the only

All beech species grow together in the north west South Island and on the East Cape. Red and
silver beech co exist on mid slopes in the north west of the South Island (Orwin, 2009).
The beech forest canopy is made up of one or more species of beech (Salmon, 1986). There are no
emergent trees, and trees, shrubs and ferns in the understory are sparse (McLintock, 2009). Among
the scattered shrubs which may be present, the small leaved Styphelia (Cyathodes) fasciculate, S.
Juniperina (prickly mingimingi), Coprosma rhamnoides (red fruited karamu), and C. Microcarpa
are often encountered. The forest floor has a deep carpet of leaf litter, soft cushions of the pale
green milk moss (Leucobryum candidum) and masses of the translucent fans of the kidney fern
(Trichomanes reniforme).
Beech forests become more complex with higher rainfalls so its growth appears more luxuriant as
a result of lichens, mosses, liveworts and moss like filmy ferns clothing the forest floor and trunks
and branches of trees. Where the canopy is partly open there is more species

Some clan members, however, do rebel and burn some of the preachers shelters. This results in a
big meeting, both European and African. At the gathering the tribe members are told to decease
from any future acts of destruction or rebellion. Expecting his fellow people to support him,
Okonkwo kills their leader with his machete. However, when the crowd allows the other
Europeans to escape, Okonkwo realizes that his clan is not willing to go to war. Soon after the
murder, Okonkwo prideful character, and inability to accept defeat, results in his suicide. Heart of
Darkness and Things Fall Apart exemplify two different perspectives of African Literature. In Heart
of Darkness, Joseph Conrad shows the African Culture through the eyes of the white man or
colonizing Europeans. In this story the native Africans are depicted as vicious savages.
In response to Conrad s stereotypical depiction of Africans, Chinua Achebewrote Things Fall Apart
through the point of view of the natives to show Africans, not as primitives, but as members of a

Telling His Own Tale African Slave! English subject! Christian surveyor! Anti slavery writer! If
you are looking for this in a short story consider The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah
Equiano. The title of this story along, gave me knowledge that this story is not like other stories
because Olaudah Equiano is the author of the story and the word interesting stays with his
narrative all of these years so there got to be something interesting about this work. Also
examiming the title of this work, the reader can notice that prejudices had to be overcome by
black people. During the late 1700s , travel literature was very popular. Olaudiah Equiano was
born in 1745 in Eboe, in what is now Nigeria. He was kidnapped and sold to slave traders
heading to the West Indies. Equiano traveled extensively and was allowed to buy his own
freedom in 1766. Olaudah Equiano was an autobiographer, abolitionist, and a Christian advocate.
He explains his life through the middle passage and working his way up to freedom. Writing about
his life gave a voice to the many Africans who went through the same things as Equiano. This story
came out in 1789, when slaverywas legal and practiced in each of the thirteen colonies. While
Equiano s life was the voice of the unheard, he also gave light behind the hidden life of slavery. In

Bob Marley Fast Food Facts
It s being reported that the indentity of a dead homeless man who was found in a cardboard box in
the back of a Kingston, Jamaica fast food restaurant, is actually the legendary reggae singer, Bob
Marley. Even though the Coroners were not able to immediately identify this man as hadn t
identification on him. It is important to mention that the only items that were found in the elderly
man s possession were: faded photograph of the Houses of Parliament in London; dented tin can
containing a small quantity of marijuana and a battered old guitar. As the authorities had no leads

This had to be a mistake. It had been always believed that Bob Marley passed away from cancer
in 1981 because he returned to Jamaica by plane from Germany. However, if this happened, why
was his body lying behind the fast food restaurant? It is interesting that the Chambers were able
to come up with only one explanation: Naturally I concluded somebody was playing a joke on
us, and told my assistant to label the body as persons unknown . This would mean he could be
cremated by authorities and the death filed as that of an unknown male in his late 60s to early
70s. But it was then that things got really weird. That same afternoon, the chief coroner, was
visited by men in sunglasses. These introduce themselves as government officials . They were all
wearing black suits. They said that Bob Marley grow tired of all the attention he was getting and
the only thing he wanted was to live a quiet life of a street busker in Jamaica. That is why he faked
his own death in 1981. These men also confirmed that the body was indeed the reggae legend. The
Jamaican government admitted going along with Marley s plan, on the understanding they would
receive the royalties from his most successful album,

The Federalist And Anti Federalist
The Anti Federalist put up a long and hard fight, however, they were not as organized as the
Federalists. While the Anti Federalist had great concerns about the Constitution and National
government, the Federalist had good responses to combat these concerns. The Federalist were and
for the Constitution and feel the Article of Confederation were not worth ratifying, these should be
scrapped altogether. They felt that the Articles limited the power of congress, because congress had
to request cooperation from the states. Unlike the Anti Federalist, the Federalist organized quickly,
had ratifying conventions, and wrote the Federalist papersto rebut the Anti Federalist arguments.
An example of this is the Anti Federalist concerns about a republican government not working on
a scale this large or diverse. Like the Roman empire, whose government was based on the idea on
classical republicanism, they believed it would fall and turn into a monarchy in order to control its
people. The Federalist needed a theory to combat this argument so James Madison complied wrote
in Federalist 10 that factions were the great enemy of society. Madison defines a faction as a
number of citizens,... who united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest,
adverse to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the
community. Factions are dangerous because there will be a majority faction and then a risk of
tyranny will arise, because the

My First Cheerleading Research Paper
As I opened my eyes on an early Saturday morning, I immediately had butterflies in my stomach.
Today is my first cheer competition. I thought about this all morning as I was getting ready.
Everything had to be perfect in order for me to walk out the door ready to show the world my
cheerleading routine. It was an absolute crazy morning. The hair, the makeup, the uniform, and
the white cheer shoes. I never realized till then how much work it actually was just to get, the
look of a cheerleader. Glitter was covering my eyelid while my hair was perfectly curled in a
ponytail with my bow way bigger than my head. The whole way to my competition which was at

Narcissism In Romantic Relationships
Introduction
Most people envision someone in particular when hearing the word narcissist , yet not as many
people would think of themselves. When you have a narcissistic personality disorder, you may not
want to think that anything could be wrong because doing so wouldn t fit with your self image of
power and perfection (Mayo Clinic, 20140). Today, narcissismis viewed in a low light, which is
why even narcissists wouldn t openly want to admit they are narcissistic. Narcissism has been
studied in communication research, especially regarding narcissism and relationships. Although
narcissism tends to be looked down upon, studies have shown that there are positives associated
with people who possess this trait, both in their personal lives and in romantic relationships.
The purpose of this literature review is to study what is known about narcissism in relationships, the
bright side of narcissists and how they can contribute to society, and topics for future research.
There has been a vast amount of research conducted on narcissism in relationships, mostly
highlighting this trait being linked to conflict, anger, unrequited love, and infidelity and
commitment issues. Some research underlines positive outcomes associated with narcissism such
as motivation to volunteer, and unquestionable trust in romantic partners. In this literature review I
will discuss current research on this topic. I will first explain the background of narcissism and
define the disorder. Next, I will

The history of the AGHS began in 1886, when an English couple a Mr. and Mrs. Williams, came

responsibility of running the school. At this time the school had boarding facilities for local

Although gangsters did show the government that they could be overtaken, they also showed that

Daily Survival in theSoviet Labor Camps
During World War II the Soviet labor camps were established by the Russian governmental
agency called the Gulag. While in effect these camps housed about fourteen million people, in
which almost half of these prisoners were imprisoned without a trial. The conditions within these
camps were inhumane, which resulted in the death of many prisoners. As seen in Alexander
Solzhenitsyn s novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, the only way to survive in these
labor camps was to stay nourished. Not only must one stay physically nourished, but they must
also be mentally nourished. In order to keep one self properly nourished, they must encompass
certain qualities in order to survive. In order to survive, prisoners must maintain a sense of self
dignity and individuality in a camp whose main goal is to dismantle all individual personalities.
Self preservation is a challenge in a camp with inhumane conditions where the bedding doesn t
have any covering, where the prisoners are strip searched out in the frigid temperatures, where the
prisoners are called by a random collection of numbers and letters, and where all other living
conditions are intolerable, one must find something to cling onto that allows them to mentally
survive. Shukhov attempts several things that allow him to possibly remain civil and to retain his
dignity. For example, he removes his cap at every meal before eating in order to maintain a feeling
of civility. Furthermore, Shukhov is inimitable

How Does Michael Curtiz Use Music In Casablanca
Michael Curtiz the director of Casablanca uses sound, music, and dialogue in a way that catches

World War II, after the Germans invaded France. When the soldiers refer to Captain Strasser and
his men, Curtiz used the sound to set the tone for Strassers personality even before the audience
got to see who he was. When the plane was landing, we hear a lot of violins as well as bombastic
bass. We get the sense that this situation won t be good, nor does it make us comfortable. The
audience is kind of scared to see who this character is and it gives us the notion that this might be

Gun Control and Self Protection Essay
Gun control is probably one of the most debatable concerns in the constitution. There are many
scenarios in which you can see the good in pro gun control and also other scenarios where con gun
control is good. Gun control should not be a plan the U.S government should take because there
are many cases in which a firearmwill determine you from death or life. And the right to carry a
firearm is like the right to protect our freedom, and to self defend ourselves. Firearms are used
defensively roughly 2.5 million times per year, more than four times as many as criminal uses.

Firearms are your defense from criminals. If we are not to have our 2nd amendment our crime rates
will increase because criminals will invade houses more freely because they know that that
citizen doesn t have a firearm or another words protection .Also new types of crimes will
probably be created such as home invasion robberies or car hackings. Not only that but a rise in
intimidation where criminals will intimidate people to give up their valuables so they can avoid

but our nation will be enduring more violence then it already is enduring. If we are to keep our

The Effects Of Gun Control As Related To Mass Shootings
Gun Control as Related to Mass Shootings in Inner Cities Rough Draft 2 There have been copious
events throughout time in which people have been killed by the use of firearms. Embedded within
these tragedies are incidents in which numerous people lost their lives almost simultaneously.
After the initial reactions of shock and sorrow, anger and frustration begin to set in and we look to
assign blame for the evil that has occurred (Domenech). Gun control advocates argue that
strengthening gun laws and banning civilian s right to use certain firearms will decrease the
number of mass shootings by limiting access to firearms. Second Amendment proponents disagree
and believe that societal and mental health issues are to blame and that law abiding citizens will
lose the ability to defend themselves from predators and government tyranny with increased gun
regulations. Psychologists, law enforcement, and many other professionals study mass shooting
events to gain understanding and develop prevention and intervention techniques. Inner cities
present a unique perspective on mass shootings due to a centralized population and access to
resources. Mass shootings are evil and have many causes. Like many, I have asked myself how
some people can be so cruel to one another through violence and lack an appreciation for the value
of life. A degree of gun regulation is necessary to protect the safety of society at large, but extreme
regulation will not remove firearms from the hands of

Comparing And Contrasting Christianity And Islam
Comparing and Contrasting Christianity and Islam Religion is a guide to live a life that offers a
fixed set of morals, as well as something to hold onto in times of misfortune and remarkable
miracles. It is something that one will always grasp for, obey, and learn from as they carry on with
their everyday lives. Christianity, which stands as the most practiced religion in the world, and Islam
, which stands second, both portray how something that starts off so small can grow to enormous
proportions and bring abundant rejoice and enlightenment to ones life. Christianity and Islam
differ from each other because one bases its beliefs on the Bible while the other focuses on the
Qur an. One also has seven layers of Hell, while the other does not. The two are similar because
they have analogous outlines of how the human race should live; for Christianity it is the Ten
Commandments and for Islam it is the Five Pillars. Another way they are similar is that both have
judgment take place after death occurs. The writing of the Bible took many years and multiple
authors to portray the teachings of God. On the other hand, Muhammad individually recorded the
Qur an the holy book of Islam. Though Muhammad recorded the Qur an, God was the one that told
him what should be written. Having said this, the two differ immensely. Firstly, Christians believe
that Jesuswas resurrected from the dead after three days. Muslims, on the other hand, believe that

2.2.5 Benford s Law definition
At the end of the nineteenth century Simon Newcomb stumbled upon what we now call Benford s
law. But in 1937, Frank Benford succinctly pronounced that a certain distribution law applies to
numerical data in general, but particularly to random data with regard to leading digits.
In 1881, astronomer and mathematician, Simon Newcomb, published the first known article
describing what has become known as Benford s law in the American Journal of Mathematics. He
noticed that books of logarithmic tables with low digits were considerably more dog eared; but
log tables dealing with higher digits were progressively less worn. He inferred from this pattern
that fellow scientists used books with tables of lower digits far more often than they used books
concerning logarithms whose first digit started with seven, eight, and nine.
In the 1930s Benford clarified this phenomenon. To put it simply, because of the effect of
compounding, there are greater frequencies of numbers where the first digit is one, then fewer
frequencies of numbers with first digit two, then three, and so on. Consider this example of the
number 1.0000 grown at a rate of 10%:

Aristotle s Theory Of Falling
My thesis is twofold: Aristotle s empirical arguments supporting the view that the earth is a sphere
are not convincing ; however, his hybrid argument combining a priori and empirical claims based
on his theory of falling succeeds in displacing Pre Socratic Cosmology and empirically grounding
the creation cosmology of Plato s Timaeus.
Aristotle inherited a tradition of cosmologies espoused by the Presocratics beginning with Thales,
The Earth floats on water, which is in some way the source of all things (Kirk B13) . The
tradition continues with Anaximenes, The earth is flat and rides on air (B13) and reaches a zenith
with Parmenides, ...there is a furthest limit, it is perfected, like the bulk of a ball well rounded on
every side, equally balanced in every direction from the center (Fr. 8 32 49). These three quotes
identify two themes that Aristotle would face while developing his cosmogony: how does the earth
maintain its place in the universe and what is its shape.
Aristotle also labored under the imposing shadow of his teacher Plato who developed his
cosmology in the Timaeus, ...he should fashion the world as a single whole... And he gave it a
shape appropriate to the kind of thing it was... Hence he gave it a round shape, the form of a sphere
... (Timaeus 33a b). Plato identifies the correct shape of the earth but he does not argue for this
conclusion. Aristotle will have to ground this idea in empirical science not myth.
The first step for Aristotle in On the Heavens is

Sn1 Reaction Lab Report
SN1 reactions only occur with certain reagents under very specific conditions. These reactions have
an intermediate and occur in two distinct steps. The first step is the formation of the carbocation
once the leaving group departs from the molecule. The type of leaving group is vital in determining
if an SN1 reactionwill occur. In general, the efficiency of the leaving group increases as the size of
the halide ion increases. However, p Toluensulfonate is the most effective and reactive leaving
group. As this step forms a carbocation, it is important to note that the type of carbocation that will
form. SN1 reactions will not occur if the intermediate is not stable. Therefore, the degree of
substitution of the leaving group, and consequently the carbocation, is vital.... Show more content

Correspondingly, primary alkyl halides are the least likely to react. Additionally, the solvent has the
ability to stabilize the carbocation. A polar protic solvent is favored as it will form hydrogen bonds
to further stabilize the carbocation intermediate. Overall, SN1 reactions are widely dependent on
the formation of a stable carbocation intermediate. Since SN1 reactions are dependent on the
formation of the carbocation, and that step occurs separately from the nucleophilic addition, the
rate of the reaction is not typically affected by the nature or concentration of the nucleophile. The
mechanism of an SN1 reaction is consistent. First, the leaving group leaves forming the
carbocation. The intermediate carbocation is planar and achiral. The nucleophile is then free to
attack from either side of the carbocation, which forms the substituted product in either a racemic
mixture or with some form of

Persuasive Essay On Beauty Dumpster
Makeup never comes cheap for anybody. Some of the most popular brands even charge a huge
amount for something as simple as primer or powder. Beauty enthusiasts everywhere would go to
the lengths just to find a way to save up for the makeup they would want to own and behold. Then
again, in a recent spur of events, some beauty bloggers found a way to get the makeup they want,
and get it for free.
The saying goes, one man s trash is another man s treasure, and that applies to beauty bloggers who
have introduced a new way at getting makeup and that is through dumpster diving. Dumpster
diving has been a practice since the dawn of time, teenagers jumping into these said dumpsters and
finding something quite rare if they are lucky. In most cases, these beauty bloggers have struck gold
in their feat in the trash.
A forerunner in beauty dumpster diving is a YouTuber named Miss Skelliton. Miss Skelliton has
achieved number of ultimate finds when dumpster diving, one time even hauling in makeup worth
$6,700. Miss Skelliton shows what she has found from dumpster diving in her YouTube videos.
There, people can see that, surprisingly, most of these makeup appear undeterred and fresh out of
the shelf. In other cases, there are thrown out testers that do not look as used up. Miss Skelliton,
and a number of other dumpster divers, have yet to figure out why these unharmed makeup sets

Similarities And Differences In Cinder And Ella
Although, Cinder and Ella have many similarities such as they both believe kindness is the
answer, they also have many differences, such as where they live or who their friends are. After
watching the movie and analysing the characters I found that there are more differences than
similarities. The main similarities between Cinder and Ella, are that they both believe kindness is
the answer. Also they both work/slave for their ugly step mothers . In addition they both have
very cruel step siblings and both of their biological parents died . In the end of both book and
movie Cinder and Ella both find out they are the rightful queens to their kingdoms. Between
similarities and differences I feel Cinder and Ella have more differences.

Working Hard Drinking Hard Is An Ethnography Written By...
Working Hard Drinking Hard is an ethnography written by Adrienne Pine who is an Anthropologist
that focused her research work based out of Honduras and it took place from 1997 2003. Honduras
is a country located in Central America neighbouring to Nicaragua and Guatemala. Throughout field
notes, audio, and video clips along with participant observation Adrienne Pine was able to capture
the way of life for certain Honduranswho were able to tell her their stories. Poverty has been a key
association of many issues for the Honduran peopleand has had a tremendous impact on: work and
employment, alcohol abuse, and violence within the community.
Poverty is a major issue that many Hondurans are faced with each and everyday. In 2002, 77.3% ...

This is because large corporations can take advantage of developing countries and not abide to the
same standards of ethics and employment treatment as they would in a developed country and Pine
was able to demonstrate that through her ethnography.
In the Maquiladoras the workers are 70% women, they are subject to poor working conditions
and sexual harassment. Illegal work practices also occur such as firing pregnant women and
denying maternity leave. Women are paid less than men and are let go around the age of 30 with
very few skills. (Pine 2008, p.142)
This shows that although the Maquiladora industries are able to provide employment to those in
poverty, the end result does not help these men and women prepare for a future outside of their
alienated tasks at these factories and they are also subject to unethical practices, making it clear the
poverty affects the work of Hondurans. Another academic source The Economist published an
article in 1997 which was during the uproar of the clothing manufacturing industries and had this to
say about what they found out on the Maquiladora industries: In the worst sweatshops, women
work 16 hour days with a single half hour break. Some work 80 hours a week without overtime pay

Reflection Paper On Capsim
PERSONAL REFLECTION PAPER #2 Capstone Simulation: CAPSIM Phase One C560
Business Planning ACC Team: ACC Baldwin (Anne Anderson, Ashlee Morelli, Charles Weaver,
Geetha Eappen, Kate Greif, Scott Lieberman) In two pages or less, what is your assessment of
your team s performance in Phase One of Capsim? Strengths, weaknesses, decision making
process, planning process and so on? My assessment of the performance of our team (ACC
Baldwin) in Phase One is that we performed decently in terms of strategy, but we have a lot of
room for improvement in terms of implementation of strategy in the simulation exercise. Strategy
Planning: For the first phase of CAPSIM, we decided, as team, to work collaboratively and
collectively make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From a production perspective, we invested heavily in the early rounds in automation and
building capacity for the new products. In the early rounds, we also invested a lot in marketing
to create as high a customer awareness as possible. Due to this, our finance strategy was to fund
these activities in R D, production and marketing by taking loans (long term short term debts), in
the initial rounds. At the same time, we took care to implement all the steps to avoid emergency
loans. In terms of sales and marketing, we adapted our strategy based on how the products
played in each segment. Our strategy was to spend efficiently in marketing sales to keep the
customer awareness and accessibility high for the premium products, while maintaining a decent
level of awareness and accessibility in other segments. We also tried to keep the contribution
margin well above 30%, but in later rounds when we focused solely in the high end segment, we
were forced to undercut prices and cutting our contribution margin to sell off our products such as
Buddy, Bold and Bead. Strengths: I think one of our strengths was corrective learning. In terms of
strategic decision making, we were able to learn from some of our mistakes in the early rounds so
that we ended up performing slightly better than how we started in terms of net income,
segmentation focus etc. which helped us

Texas Senate Election Essay
Shrestha2
Kiran Shrestha Professor Sharifian GOVT 2306 73433 30th April 30, 2018 Assignment Three After
I win the Texas Senate election my every work will be for the benefit of every Texan and U.S.
citizen. When I win the election, I will focus on the three main committees, Insurance, Agriculture
and Livestock, and Economic and Small Business Development Committee. The insurance
committee consists of nine members. It performs tasks relating to insurance with the insurance
industry. It works on the formation of policy and law as per need in TexasState. It also incorporates
different state agencies like; 1 the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas Health Benefits
Purchasing Cooperatives and the office of Public Insurance Counsel.
Most of the citizens complain about the high rate of insurance. Thus, I want to lower the rate of
insurance to the citizens so that everyone can afford it. According to the survey done in US in
2015 by Texas Medical Association the percentage of uninsured population was 12.5% among
which Texas has 21.6% ranking 1st( https://www.texmed.org/Template.aspx?id=42282). Hence, I
want to remove Texas from this list and try to rank 1st in highest insured state in US. I will try to
provide health insurance to the citizens in a way that one health insurance will cover every single
medical bill so that they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Design Of The Hardware
The selection of the hardware is a very critical part of the hardware implementation of the
project; the selector must know the pros and cons on the design of each component that is being
used. The selection can lead to the failure or success of the project. Therefore, special attention is
required to the selection process and it was discussed with the specialist of the electrical and
mechanical engineering fields to be on safe side. The main components of the system that are
used in this project are as follows: 1.Motor 2.Microcontroller 3.LEDs 4.Sensor for Synchronizing
5.Power Supply 4.1 Motor The two major classifications of the motors are AC and DC motors.
Only the DC motors clearly fits our system because the AC motors are... Show more content on

It includes a motor controller. The function of the motor controller is to convert the DC into AC.
Mechanically, these motors have simpler design than the other types of the DC motor as there is
no requirement of transferring power to the spinning rotor from the outside of the motor. The
position of the rotor is sensed by the control of a Hall Effect sensor or any other such device to
optimize torque and regulate speed. Advantages Advantages of the Brushless DC motor are their
long life, better efficiency, and high RPM with no maintenance required. Disadvantages The
design of the controllers for these types of the motors is a bit more complex and they have
relatively higher initial cost. These are the only disadvantages of the Brushless DC motor. 2.
Brushed DC motors: The generation of the torque in the brushed DC motors is coming directly
from the DC power. The internal commutation and the magnets that are stationary (magnets can be
permanent or electromagnet) supply the power to the motor to generate the torque. These motors
include carbon brushes to transfer the power to the rotating shaft. Advantages The cost required
for a brushed DC motor is relatively low compared to other DC motors. These are highly reliable
and have very simpler and basic type to control the motor. Disadvantages The major disadvantages
of this type of motor include a shorter life span

Integrating Technology for Better School Security Essay
Integrating Technology for Better School Security
Using new technology for better school security is not always easy because it is difficult to address
the correct problem with the right equipment, there also exists economic issues, and mental unrest
among staff and students.
School safety is an issue that has been concerning this country for many years. With the populations
of our schools growing, the crime rates with in them have been as well. The student to staff ratio
has greatly increased and there are concerns on how to regulate student behavior as well as crime
prevention among students.
Along with regulating student behavior, more security issues need to be addressed in order to
maintain a safe school. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When dealing with an issue that involves children and a place where they are supposed to feel safe,
you need to consider the mental unrest of students, staff, and parents/community. High intensity
equipment could make a school feel like a prison. The security systems are meant to make the staff
and students feel more secure in their learning environment. Not to scare them into behaving
properly or make them feel imprisoned.
Before technology should be used as a quick fix , the school s individual needs should be
analyzed. If a school was to make a quick move to newer security equipment, they could create a
false sense of security in the school. If the equipment does not address the correct problems, then
the staff and students are under a false impression of security. The equipment that is purchased
could be ineffective and costly. This would mean that the school spent more of its already low
budget on equipment that is not serving a purpose.
Considering to use newer technology for a more secure school should not only be district
specific, but school specific as well. Within a school district there could be several different types
of schools. Those different schools will not always have the same security issues to address. Some
schools may only have security problems vandalism or minor theft. Where other schools in that
same district could be dealing with fights

Persuasive Essay On Pitbulls
Stories can travel far and wide reaching everyone. This can benefit or destroy beings as the story
can twist and be changed along the way. A victim of this can t speak up for themselves but are
known as man s best friend . There are dogs all over the world that are being abandoned or put
down in shelters as a result of many factors. The history or story of a breed of dogcan influence how
people perceive them today. All the different breeds we know today have history behind them. We
can find out where they first originated and how they came to be. There is a breed of dog that
seems to take most of the hits, the American Pitbull. This breed of dog is quite intelligent, loving
and wants to please their owner.
Back in the day they were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not every dog is a good boy and we need to also remember that these are animals who will do what
they need to do in order to survive. This can mean them fighting for their life or adapting to their
surroundings in order to live another day. Animals are intelligent and amazing creatures that rely on
instincts as we cannot truly communicate with them. Though some breeds have gotten a bad
reputation, there are organizations out there that are doing everything they can to help save
innocent lives that are being ruined by bad stories. Big or small these people are putting their time
and effort to inform people of their ignorance.
Further spreading knowledge of this matter can help limit animals on the street and help find
ones in shelters new homes. Adopting those in shelters helps by giving them a second chance at
living a happy life but also allows for more room so other animals in need can move in. The
overabundance of animals in shelters can be limited if people would spay and neuter their pets. By
doing this it will eliminate the unexpected or unwanted pregnancies and allow for animals in the
shelter to be looked at more. Not many people are aware of the closest animal shelter or the
primary one that might be active in their community. This is one thing that needs to change as we
make this situation more aware to the community. Having the local animal shelters more accessible
as well as advertising them

Psychological Effects Of Cocaine Cocaine Cocaine is a hard substance, but in order to fully understand how cognitive behavorial therapy works, we must first understand cocaine and the effects it has on the body. Cocaine is obviously a strong drug. The leaves are grown in South America and the whole plant itself is very dangerous that affects the person physically. When the powdered form is in play, it is usually snorted or inhaled where the nasal tissue absorbs it. Once absorbed it will then be injected into the bloodstream ( National Institute, 2013 ). Although it creates a euphoria and even energy, it can also cause the heart rate and blood pressure to increase. Users have a sense of bliss and are very happy and they are more alert and aroused. Their performance might even be better as well (Maisto, 2015). However, this is only for a short duration. When cocaine is used for a long period of time, it creates dependence to it, because the tolerance to it also increases. Cocaine abusers will fill the withdrawals associated with it, and think they will need another dose. Only the next time, they decide to increase the dose, because it doesn t quite feel as potent as before. By doing this, and increasing dosages, cocaine abusers are setting themselves up for addiction. Then they feel that there is no way out simply because they can t deal with the withdrawal ... • 3. Canada Day Essay On Canada Day, we celebrate our great country; a nation that allows us to be Canadian while rejoicing in our personal heritage and diversity. While countries around the world struggle with the notion of immigration, Torontonians can take pride in a recent BBC study that declared Toronto as the most diverse city in the world. It couldn t be a more fitting time for the new Toronto Ward Museum to begin operations. The museum seeks to create a space for the life stories of everyday people to be heard. It also challenges Torontonians to connect stories of the city s past, not only to their own history, but to current issues affecting newcomer communities today. While the task may seem daunting, the Toronto Ward Museum has already begun to tell the city s local stories in an unconventional way through food. This past week, the museum initiated the Dishing Up Toronto program with three walking tours in Toronto and its suburbs. Immigrants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is just wonderful how the Ward Museum wraps together fabulous food, history, cultureand learning into a truly enchanting experience, she explains. Gracia Dyer Jalea, co founder of the Toronto Ward Museum, obviously agrees. History often gets told by an elite few. The life stories of everyday people are seldom recognized, she says. • 4. The Role Of Technology In The Modern American Household Over the past 30 years, technology has made great strides towards becoming a fundamental part of our everyday lives; and for millions of parents and their children, it already is. The modern American household is catered towards the technologically inclined computers, tablets, gaming systems, and smart TVs have become commonplace in many homes. Not only do they serve their practical purpose, but devices such as these also offer many opportunites for children and toddlers to learn, play, and experience things they d previously been unable to. Many might challenge ideas such as this without outdated statistics or conservative mindsets, but the truth of the matter is, the technological era has arrived; and our children need to learn how to live in it. With the growing population of middle class households that have access to internet and cable, educational programming has seen a burst in activity and popularity. Families that were otherwise unable to access educational TV and games before are now able to do so, and their children have the opportunity to learn and play as they never have before. Increased exposure to such educational mediums has allowed for households with young children to experience types of knowledge and interaction that they ve never ... • 5. Food Labeling Research Paper Food safety and grocery costs are two important issues to me and thousands of others here in the U.S. That s why I would like you to support a new piece of legislation, known as the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act. This new bill will address two important topics, GMOs and the need for a nationwide set of standards regarding the labeling of our food. The bill will give the Food and Drug Administration additional oversight and tools to guarantee the safety of new GMOs before they re introduced into our food supply. It will also set a standard for food labeling in our country. The FDA would be able to certify food as GMO free, and manufacturers would have to pass a series of tests to prove that their food is indeed GMO free before the FDA would allow them to put the GMO free label on their food. This new standard for food labeling would ensure consistency across the country and would help prevent prices from rising at the grocery store. If costs were to increase much more than they already have, I wouldn t be able to afford a lot of the products that I currently buy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This will be easily done if the FDA is allowed to implement a national set of standards for food labels. Right now, there is no such set of standards, and, as a result, individual states are beginning to implement their own laws for labeling food. This is a terrible idea because it will result in higher food costs and more confusion for consumers. Manufacturers will have to create a different label for every state where their product is sold. • 6. WhatВґs Neonatal Jaundice Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants will develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to prevent acute bilirubinencephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus (American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after discharge home will now be discussed. Risk assessment for jaundice should be performed on an infant before discharge from the hospital, using TB or transcutaneous bilirubin and/or assessment of risk factors. Therefore, if the TB is plotted on a nomogram prior to discharge, the PNP will have an idea about the infants risk for developing hyperbilirubinemia at the initial newborn visit and can guide the need for laboratory evaluation. If this is not available, the PNP should be aware of major risk factors for the development of hyperbilirubinemia including jaundice present in the first 24 hours of life, blood group incompatibility, gestational age of 35 36 weeks, sibling history of phototherapy, cephalohematoma or significant bruising, exclusive breastfeeding, and East Asian race (AAP, 2004). • 7. Future Visions of America in Looking Backward by Edward... Published in 1888 Looking Backward depicts a future vision of America. Utopian Boston of the year 2000 is designed in a constructive method that excludes capitalism. Through the medium of romantic novel, Bellamy seeks to impose the idea of socialism into the nineteenth century American society. Written at a period when economic growth went off the rails triggering the rise in unequal distribution of wealth, Looking Backward attempts to propose a reform in social and economic systems. From the eyes of the narrator, the novel presents a spectrum of changes and possibilities for the 19th century audience. Plagued by the social chaos of the Gilded Age, Julian West falls asleep with difficulty in 1887 to wake up to the Boston of year 2000, and finds out that all the evils bothering him in the 19th century have been cast aside. As the last sparkles of the Civil War cooled down, a period of transformation took over U.S. and the endeavour to restore post Civil War economy initiated. The Gilded Age, as Mark Twain referred, was a time identified with economic boom and social change. During those years, U.S. experienced the transition from agricultural to urban together with industrialisation, scientific innovations and an economic boom. This modernisation evolvement however, was followed by negative outcomes: as labour demand amplified the need for immigration broke out and poverty became a remarkable issue. • 12. The Importance Of Life In A Boarding School Boarding school compares to an exclusive club as there is a huge advantage of attending boarding school for students can garner social and cultural capital. Being in a boarding school, in of itself, is a privilege. However, the students themselves in Old School see privilege tied strictly to socioeconomic background. Nonetheless, students divide themselves between the disadvantaged and privileged, while others put on a facade to appear more wealthy. The book tells the story of an unnamed narrator, most likely Tobias Wolff himself, who attends a pretentious male boarding school during the 1960s. Therefore, the narrator, a competitive writer, competes with other boys alike to gain the attention of famous authors and poets like Ernest Hemingway and Robert Frost. While social pressures force students to worry with their social status, the narrator becomes fixated on writing stories that are utopian in nature so not to reveal his mundane and blue collared lifestyle. Privileged students from upper class backgrounds experience the utmost respect of the school and simultaneously never have to worry about an empty future. Specifically, Jeff Purcell is one of the characters in the novel who comes from a long line of privileged heritage and is proud, stubborn, and judgmental of every other student. In the opening of the novel, the narrator notes that class is a depth of ease in certain boys, their innate affable assurance that they would not have to struggle for a place in the world, ... • 13. Schlieffen Plan Failure When war was declared in 1914, the Germans had devised a plan to avoid fighting a two front war against both, Russia and France; the Schlieffen Plan. The plan however, did not solve Germany s problem of a two front war and the leadership of Helmuth von Moltke determined its failure, to a great extent, but not entirely; erroneous assumptions the plan was based on and countless mistakes made on the battlefield also contributed to its lack of success. The Schlieffen Plan was devised to prevent fighting war on two fronts simultaneously, against France and Russia, aiming to defeat France before Russia could Mobilize. Both Winter (1993,pg.60) and McAndrew (2005,pg.56) concurred the plan was devised by Count Alfred von Schlieffen, Chief of the German ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The plan had failed to take into account human endurance, the First Army had to cover 30 40km per day to reach the required goal of the Schlieffen plan, many men were physically exhausted by early September others reduced to fifty percent of their original strength, Winter (1993,pg.64). The fast pace of the plan caused a delay in communications between the front and the commanding officers back in Luxemburg, leading to ill advised advances on the battlefield, (Winter 1993,pg.64). Both Morgan (2001,pg.6) and the authors of The Great War Sources and Evidence Stewart, Fitzgerald and Pilchard (1995,pg.37) agreed there were a number of weaknesses in the plan; the time anticipated for Russia to mobilize was over estimated. Stewart (1995,pg.37) comments; Russia had developed into a momentous military power between the formulation of the Schlieffen Plan and the actual war. Evidently Moltke moved soldiers from the right flank over to the eastern front to hold off the Russians. Author of Expanding Worlds, (Sauvain 1993,pg.94) remarks; the violation of Belgium neutrality proved to be a stumbling block, Belgium offered more resistance than planned for, inevitably allowing the British to cross the channel and be ready to help France by the time the Germans had arrived. The strength of support the British gave the French was also greatly misjudged; as Guest, Laurence and Eshuy (1990,pg.53) authors of World War I Causes, Courses and Consequences identified, the Germans had to bring up heavy artillery to defeat the British Expedition Force at the Battle of the Mons, eventually the British retreated, but the Germans were slowed down dramatically. Consequently, their attack plan was revealed to the French; therefore by the time the right flank had reached the Marne, the French had launched a counter attack, which resulted in the ... Conflict is a part of human life and it is inevitable no matter the preparation. Mankind has always sought to improve their means of fighting in hopes to preserve peace with the newest weapon unveiled being the drone. When waroutbreaks, drones are used to great extent, they are efficient and coordinated, calculated and powerful, however, drones are costly and at times cause innocents to die. Positive And Negative Effects Of Censorship In Society Censorship is the suppression, alteration, or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, music, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. Censorship is an action that has been performed for many years on several subjects of the world, and it is still happening today. Although censorshipis an action occurred on many subjects, music is one of the biggest censorship problems in today s world. Music can have both positive and negative effects on a person in society. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protecting the young people in today s society is important because they are the future, if they are raised right, it will be carried on to their kids and so on. Censorship of music in the United States dates back to the 1800 s after the Civil War when people in the south were banned from singing confederate songs. And censorship of music is still happening today. With music uncensored, little kids and adolescents are likely to think that everything they hear in the music they listen to is acceptable in today s society. Many songs in today s society mention use of drugs, alcohol, sex, violence, cursing, and mistreatment of others. If people of today s society want our future generations to be fine with these traits and acceptable with wrong things happening in our world, vote for no censorship. Listening to society s songs uncensored will influence kids to be active in violence, drugs, alcohol, and other disrespectful activities at a younger age. This will impact our world to continue to roll down hill in the act of violence and war. If uncensorship impacts the world, our future generations will have no morals, everything will be ok. An economical advantage is for the mothers and families who will be financially stable during this time and without the worry of earning money they need to provide necessary, basic needs to the newborn. An alternative solution is that one company decided to create a program to both allow mothers time with their child while at the same time being able to advance in their careers. Inkwell implemented a program where mothers would work almost as if part time and still have paid leave. They would spend about 20 hours in the work week working and the rest of the time they would spend raising their newborn. Not only does this help the woman s career keep moving, but it also helps her spend time properly caring for her child. The program allows for flexibility in their schedules so they can focus on both work and family, without putting one in front of the other. While this is progress for the issue, it only pertains to the one company. The rest of America needs to get on board. Some of the advantages to Inkwell s solution include the family is being supported financially, the mother can continue improving in her career, stress is taken off of the mother because of the flexible schedule, and the company doesn t completely lose a worker. The disadvantages of Inkwell s solution include that while the mothers are still working part time, the employer would still need to hire and pay new employees to fill the spots while the mothers aren t working. Another alternative solution was developed when Marisa Torrieri wrote a Forbes article about how unpaid maternity leave could work, if the mother takes some things into consideration. Since money is one of the main things that mothers are worried about by taking a leave, Torrieri highlights ways to ensure the money doesn t become a problem. The first thing a mother can do is take extra work at their job before the baby comes so they can be financially sound during the leave. In response to Conrad s stereotypical depiction of Africans, Chinua Achebewrote Things Fall Apart through the point of view of the natives to show Africans, not as primitives, but as members of a thriving society. Things Fall Apart follows Okonkwo s life as he strives for prestige in his community. When European missionaries come to Umuofia, Okonkwo s clan, Okonkwo tries to protect the culture that the missionaries would destroy in the name of civilizing the natives. However his rigid mentality and violent behavior has the opposite of its intended effect, perpetuating the stereotype of the wild African in the eyes of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Federalist were and for the Constitution and feel the Article of Confederation were not worth ratifying, these should be scrapped altogether. They felt that the Articles limited the power of congress, because congress had to request cooperation from the states. Unlike the Anti Federalist, the Federalist organized quickly, had ratifying conventions, and wrote the Federalist papersto rebut the Anti Federalist arguments. An example of this is the Anti Federalist concerns about a republican government not working on a scale this large or diverse. Like the Roman empire, whose government was based on the idea on classical republicanism, they believed it would fall and turn into a monarchy in order to control its people. The Federalist needed a theory to combat this argument so James Madison complied wrote in Federalist 10 that factions were the great enemy of society. As seen in Alexander Solzhenitsyn s novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, the only way to survive in these labor camps was to stay nourished. Embedded within these tragedies are incidents in which numerous people lost their lives almost simultaneously. After the initial reactions of shock and sorrow, anger and frustration begin to set in and we look to assign blame for the evil that has occurred (Domenech). Gun control advocates argue that strengthening gun laws and banning civilian s right to use certain firearms will decrease the number of mass shootings by limiting access to firearms. Second Amendment proponents disagree and believe that societal and mental health issues are to blame and that law abiding citizens will lose the ability to defend themselves from predators and government tyranny with increased gun regulations. Psychologists, law enforcement, and many other professionals study mass shooting events to gain understanding and develop prevention and intervention techniques. It is something that one will always grasp for, obey, and learn from as they carry on with their everyday lives. Christianity, which stands as the most practiced religion in the world, and Islam , which stands second, both portray how something that starts off so small can grow to enormous proportions and bring abundant rejoice and enlightenment to ones life. Christianity and Islam differ from each other because one bases its beliefs on the Bible while the other focuses on the Qur an. One also has seven layers of Hell, while the other does not. The two are similar because they have analogous outlines of how the human race should live; for Christianity it is the Ten Commandments and for Islam it is the Five Pillars. Another way they are similar is that both have judgment take place after death occurs. The writing of the Bible took many years and multiple authors to portray the teachings of God. On the other hand, Muhammad individually recorded the Qur an the holy book of Islam. Though Muhammad recorded the Qur an, God was the one that told him what should be written. But in 1937, Frank Benford succinctly pronounced that a certain distribution law applies to numerical data in general, but particularly to random data with regard to leading digits. In 1881, astronomer and mathematician, Simon Newcomb, published the first known article describing what has become known as Benford s law in the American Journal of Mathematics. He noticed that books of logarithmic tables with low digits were considerably more dog eared; but log tables dealing with higher digits were progressively less worn. He inferred from this pattern that fellow scientists used books with tables of lower digits far more often than they used books concerning logarithms whose first digit started with seven, eight, and nine. In the 1930s Benford clarified this phenomenon. To put it simply, because of the effect of compounding, there are greater frequencies of numbers where the first digit is one, then fewer frequencies of numbers with first digit two, then three, and so on. Consider this example of the number 1.0000 grown at a rate of 10%: Table 2. 1 Benfords Law digit Growth Rate 10%

Aristotle s Theory Of Falling My thesis is twofold: Aristotle s empirical arguments supporting the view that the earth is a sphere are not convincing ; however, his hybrid argument combining a priori and empirical claims based on his theory of falling succeeds in displacing Pre Socratic Cosmology and empirically grounding the creation cosmology of Plato s Timaeus. Aristotle inherited a tradition of cosmologies espoused by the Presocratics beginning with Thales, The Earth floats on water, which is in some way the source of all things (Kirk B13) . The tradition continues with Anaximenes, The earth is flat and rides on air (B13) and reaches a zenith with Parmenides, ...there is a furthest limit, it is perfected, like the bulk of a ball well rounded on every side, equally balanced in every direction from the center (Fr. 8 32 49). These three quotes identify two themes that Aristotle would face while developing his cosmogony: how does the earth maintain its place in the universe and what is its shape. And he gave it a shape appropriate to the kind of thing it was... Hence he gave it a round shape, the form of a sphere ... (Timaeus 33a b). In general, the efficiency of the leaving group increases as the size of the halide ion increases. However, p Toluensulfonate is the most effective and reactive leaving group. Since SN1 reactions are dependent on the formation of the carbocation, and that step occurs separately from the nucleophilic addition, the rate of the reaction is not typically affected by the nature or concentration of the nucleophile. In addition they both have very cruel step siblings and both of their biological parents died . In the end of both book and movie Cinder and Ella both find out they are the rightful queens to their kingdoms. Between similarities and differences I feel Cinder and Ella have more differences. ... • 44. Working Hard Drinking Hard Is An Ethnography Written By... Working Hard Drinking Hard is an ethnography written by Adrienne Pine who is an Anthropologist that focused her research work based out of Honduras and it took place from 1997 2003. Honduras is a country located in Central America neighbouring to Nicaragua and Guatemala. Throughout field notes, audio, and video clips along with participant observation Adrienne Pine was able to capture the way of life for certain Honduranswho were able to tell her their stories. Poverty has been a key association of many issues for the Honduran peopleand has had a tremendous impact on: work and employment, alcohol abuse, and violence within the community. Poverty is a major issue that many Hondurans are faced with each and everyday. In 2002, 77.3% ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because large corporations can take advantage of developing countries and not abide to the same standards of ethics and employment treatment as they would in a developed country and Pine was able to demonstrate that through her ethnography. In the Maquiladoras the workers are 70% women, they are subject to poor working conditions and sexual harassment. Illegal work practices also occur such as firing pregnant women and denying maternity leave. Women are paid less than men and are let go around the age of 30 with very few skills. (Pine 2008, p.142) This shows that although the Maquiladora industries are able to provide employment to those in poverty, the end result does not help these men and women prepare for a future outside of their alienated tasks at these factories and they are also subject to unethical practices, making it clear the poverty affects the work of Hondurans. Another academic source The Economist published an article in 1997 which was during the uproar of the clothing manufacturing industries and had this to say about what they found out on the Maquiladora industries: In the worst sweatshops, women work 16 hour days with a single half hour break. Some work 80 hours a week without overtime pay or take ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Reflection Paper On Capsim PERSONAL REFLECTION PAPER #2 Capstone Simulation: CAPSIM Phase One C560 Business Planning ACC Team: ACC Baldwin (Anne Anderson, Ashlee Morelli, Charles Weaver, Geetha Eappen, Kate Greif, Scott Lieberman) In two pages or less, what is your assessment of your team s performance in Phase One of Capsim? Strengths, weaknesses, decision making process, planning process and so on? My assessment of the performance of our team (ACC Baldwin) in Phase One is that we performed decently in terms of strategy, but we have a lot of room for improvement in terms of implementation of strategy in the simulation exercise. Strategy Planning: For the first phase of CAPSIM, we decided, as team, to work collaboratively and collectively make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From a production perspective, we invested heavily in the early rounds in automation and building capacity for the new products. In the early rounds, we also invested a lot in marketing to create as high a customer awareness as possible. Due to this, our finance strategy was to fund these activities in R D, production and marketing by taking loans (long term short term debts), in the initial rounds. At the same time, we took care to implement all the steps to avoid emergency loans. In terms of sales and marketing, we adapted our strategy based on how the products played in each segment. Our strategy was to spend efficiently in marketing sales to keep the customer awareness and accessibility high for the premium products, while maintaining a decent level of awareness and accessibility in other segments. We also tried to keep the contribution margin well above 30%, but in later rounds when we focused solely in the high end segment, we were forced to undercut prices and cutting our contribution margin to sell off our products such as Buddy, Bold and Bead. Strengths: I think one of our strengths was corrective learning. In terms of strategic decision making, we were able to learn from some of our mistakes in the early rounds so that we ended up performing slightly better than how we started in terms of net income, segmentation focus etc. which helped us ... • 47. The Design Of The Hardware The selection of the hardware is a very critical part of the hardware implementation of the project; the selector must know the pros and cons on the design of each component that is being used. The selection can lead to the failure or success of the project. Therefore, special attention is required to the selection process and it was discussed with the specialist of the electrical and mechanical engineering fields to be on safe side. The main components of the system that are used in this project are as follows: 1.Motor 2.Microcontroller 3.LEDs 4.Sensor for Synchronizing 5.Power Supply 4.1 Motor The two major classifications of the motors are AC and DC motors. Only the DC motors clearly fits our system because the AC motors are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It includes a motor controller. The function of the motor controller is to convert the DC into AC. Mechanically, these motors have simpler design than the other types of the DC motor as there is no requirement of transferring power to the spinning rotor from the outside of the motor. The position of the rotor is sensed by the control of a Hall Effect sensor or any other such device to optimize torque and regulate speed. Advantages Advantages of the Brushless DC motor are their long life, better efficiency, and high RPM with no maintenance required. Disadvantages The design of the controllers for these types of the motors is a bit more complex and they have relatively higher initial cost. These are the only disadvantages of the Brushless DC motor. 2. Brushed DC motors: The generation of the torque in the brushed DC motors is coming directly from the DC power. The internal commutation and the magnets that are stationary (magnets can be permanent or electromagnet) supply the power to the motor to generate the torque. These motors include carbon brushes to transfer the power to the rotating shaft. Advantages The cost required for a brushed DC motor is relatively low compared to other DC motors. These are highly reliable and have very simpler and basic type to control the motor. Disadvantages The major disadvantages of this type of motor include a shorter life span ... Integrating Technology for Better School Security Essay Integrating Technology for Better School Security Using new technology for better school security is not always easy because it is difficult to address the correct problem with the right equipment, there also exists economic issues, and mental unrest among staff and students. School safety is an issue that has been concerning this country for many years. With the populations of our schools growing, the crime rates with in them have been as well. When dealing with an issue that involves children and a place where they are supposed to feel safe, you need to consider the mental unrest of students, staff, and parents/community. High intensity equipment could make a school feel like a prison. The security systems are meant to make the staff and students feel more secure in their learning environment. Not to scare them into behaving properly or make them feel imprisoned. Before technology should be used as a quick fix , the school s individual needs should be analyzed. If a school was to make a quick move to newer security equipment, they could create a false sense of security in the school. If the equipment does not address the correct problems, then the staff and students are under a false impression of security. The equipment that is purchased could be ineffective and costly. This would mean that the school spent more of its already low budget on equipment that is not serving a purpose. Considering to use newer technology for a more secure school should not only be district specific, but school specific as well. Within a school district there could be several different types of schools. Those different schools will not always have the same security issues to address. Some schools may only have security problems vandalism or minor theft. Where other schools in that same district could be dealing with fights ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This can mean them fighting for their life or adapting to their surroundings in order to live another day. Animals are intelligent and amazing creatures that rely on instincts as we cannot truly communicate with them. Though some breeds have gotten a bad reputation, there are organizations out there that are doing everything they can to help save innocent lives that are being ruined by bad stories. Big or small these people are putting their time and effort to inform people of their ignorance. Further spreading knowledge of this matter can help limit animals on the street and help find ones in shelters new homes. Adopting those in shelters helps by giving them a second chance at living a happy life but also allows for more room so other animals in need can move in. The overabundance of animals in shelters can be limited if people would spay and neuter their pets. By doing this it will eliminate the unexpected or unwanted pregnancies and allow for animals in the shelter to be looked at more. Not many people are aware of the closest animal shelter or the primary one that might be active in their community. This is one thing that needs to change as we make this situation more aware to the community. Having the local animal shelters more accessible as well as advertising them ...
