The Philosophy Of Passive Management
speaking, not true. In particular, it was assumed that the market is in the state of equilibrium (i.e.
all investors have finished to complete their portfolios), operational and transaction costs
(payment of intermediaries services, staff, information services, taxes, etc.) are insignificant, the
investor has the ability to receive and grant loans on the same risk free rate, and so on.
Nevertheless, the idea that the market portfolio is probably close to an effective portfolio,
initiated a passive portfolio management. This strategy means that when the investor prepares the
portfolio, determining the expected return, he is focused entirely on the market portfolio and he
doesn t carry on to make any changes in the composition of the portfolio after its formation.
Hence is the name. The philosophy of passive management is to minimize the costs of market
research and the formation of the portfolio if there is sufficient guarantee of obtaining a stable
high yield. In fact, an investor, preparing the portfolio, is focused on some reference portfolio
(benchmark portfolio), i.e. portfolio with standard yield in comparison with the actual yield of the
portfolio manager. This is not necessarily to consider as a reference only the market portfolio.
There are dozens of different investment funds, called index funds, which focus on the benchmark
portfolio, consisting of securities, selected for a particular trait (eg: a part of any index). So, there
are index funds holding

Special Education Curriculum For Students With Disabilities
1.From your perspective, what exactly, are we talking about when we say special education
curriculum ? At first I was a little confused about this question. I was thinking about special
education curriculum in the terms of an adaptive curriculum. After reading the articles form this
module and locating my own article, special educationcurriculum refers to what educators are doing
to make the general education curriculum accessible to students with disabilities. Although there
have been many changes related to the education of students with disabilities, there is still a
noticeable gap in achievement between students without disabilities and students with disabilities
(Aron Loprest, 2012).
2.Describe the legal climate of special education today. How does this climate affect the decisions
we make in designing and implementing special education curricula? Provide specific examples.
There are many legal issues that arise in the area of special education. During the summer 2015
school term I completed the course Special Education Law. In this course I discovered that
litigation regarding the laws of IDEA and Section 504 are on the rise. Parents are more educated
of their rights and there are advocates as well as organizations readily available to assist student
with disabilities as well as their parents. Some of the topics that can cause legal issues include
placement in the least restrictive environment, progress monitoring of goals and objectives and

Snowmobiling on Priest Mountain Essay
Snowmobiling on Priest Mountain
In late May I never pictured myself carving a highmark on Priest Mountain. Priest Mountain is
nestled on the east edge of the Grand Mesa National Forest. Deep sugary snow and feathery blue
spruce trees cover the mountain and the area around. One fine day it occurred that I had the
opportunity to carve my highmark and I still I have the mental image of my territory after that day.
Even before that day, Priest has left a impression on me. Priest Mountain, for me, has been such a
majestic riding area; IГve been riding in this area for more than 10 years, and it is such a magical
place to ride.
On this one fine day, we had a typical Colorado snow storm.. I can recall this very trip to the

The large lot was completely full; the trucks and trailers were packed into the lot like a can of
sardines. I finally found a place to park and we unloaded the machines. There was slight breeze
and a whisper in the air; Priest Mountain was calling my name!
Once my dad arrived, we were on our way. I jumped out into the first park that we came to and
the fresh new powder exalted me. We then rode over to our friend s cabin to say hello and have
a Pepsi. We asked our friend, Bob to come along for the ride and he was delighted to join us.
From there we cut across flat lined Twin Lake and then across the untracked Eggleston Lake. To
my unpleasant surprise, we approached the lodge, and sleds were buzzing around like crows on
road kill. Ten miles down the road I expected to, at least, see some other people riding, but we had
the whole mountain to ourselves. We rode from mountain to mountain, crossing open drainages and
gigantic playgrounds of snow one after another.
After an hour of hard riding we came to our first rest stop and decided to ride over towards
Priest. Of course, we played and got stuck along the way. We hung a right at the Weir and Johnson
turnoff, and blazed up the trail. I had the privilege of breaking trail through the pristine powder.
My Yamaha Viper purred into the brisk cold air, tasting like a fresh water ice cube.
At one point, we jumped over to the south, rode through a park blanketed with powder until we
reached a cliff over looking Delta

Saving Private Ryan
I got a bad feeling about this one. When was the last time you felt good about anything? This is
the exact same feeling I got after I witnessed this horrific film. The film Saving Private Ryan is
based on a rescue mission to find Private Ryan after all of his brothers were killed in action.
Directed by Steven Spielbergand starring starts such as Tom Hanksand Matt Damon, the film is
notable for its accurate re enactments of WW2 battles. Because of these accurate WW2 battles,
Saving private Ryanhas won various awards. Due to the film having an incredibly relatable setting
to those in WW2. The scenes in this film puts you in the first person truth which links us to the
horror of war and tragedy of warfare. Awarded for such things such as... Show more content on

The cinematographer, Janusz Kaminski, who also shot Schindler s List, brings a newsreel feel
to a lot of the footage. He manages to make everything visually intelligent. Amongst the chaos of
the D day landing scenes, kaminski focuses on the attack on the stationed machine gun nests,
and a prolonged sequence of a defensive actions on the bridge. The cinematographer does this is
a way that keeps us oriented. When the exposition comes into play, it leaves the audience with a
post war reaction as to how soldiers who came back from war reacted when they see their dead
comrades... And how they hope that was enough. I hope that, at least in your eyes, I ve earned
what all of you have done for me quote from older Private Ryan. The editing is impeccable. They
have made sure that the intensity of events in the film is like a roller coaster. One minute you re
laughing and the next shook silently, planted in your seat. They even make sure that even events
without sound have a lot of impact. For instance, when Cpt. Miller gets shell shock the impact
of editing shows cut scenes, editing makes us experience what shell shock during is like during
the war. The sound effects and the use of dialogue is outstanding and very realistic as well. They
make it feel as if you re in a war zone. You could open your door, listen to sound effects and you

Conspiracy Theory Of Autism And Autism
Millions upon millions of people would die everyday form deadly disease and there was nothing
anyone could do about it. As a result, vaccinations were created to stop the sickness and mass
tragedy that came along with them. The measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations (MMR), that are
supposed to help are being questioned by people believing they are linked to Autism. Numerous
studies have shown that there is no connection between the two. The holes and lies in this theory
are prevalent when looking in depth at how this theory was established, whom it benefits if it s true,
and the facts that disprove it. Science is supposed, to tell the truth, but because humans are the ones
performing the experiments sometimes there are flaws. For instance, Andre Wakefield in 1998 of
Royal Free Hospital in London, England, said the Measles, Mumps, and rubella vaccines were to
blame for autism. Andrew Wakefield came to this conclusion based on results found in eight out of
twelve children. His results were then published in a medical journal called Lancet. Andrew
Wakefield condemnation of vaccination caused the public to become scared ( vaccinations and
Autism . . .). Andrew Wakefield s research was the starting point of the conspiracy theory that the
measles, mumps, and rubella vaccinations cause Autism. Furthermore, It made people, especially
parents of autistic kids, question and lose trust in vaccinations. Without Wakefield s research
people, might not question vaccinations as much as

king cobra s special abilities and how they would help fight each other. If a gray mongooseand a
king cobra were to engage in combat I think the gray mongoose would win, because of many
points. In this essay I will be telling about the mongoose defenses, attacks and weapons.
First, the mongoose has a variety of defenses they picked up. According to Grolier Online (2015),
mongoose has thick fur. So, it the mongoose has thick fur than the short fangs of the cobra could
not penetrate the thick fur of the mongoose. According to the text in Cambell (2015), mongoose

The Importance of Music In Marketing Techniques
Music has become an important part of the marketing tool s extent, with the compound usage of TV
and radio as the mean of communicating with the consumers.
Music can serve universal promotional goals in one or more of several capacities. The classic
jingle is the most common musical technique for aiding memorability and thus product recall.
Some of the biggest products and companies in the world are successful solely because of the
customer satisfaction, this is also because the customers like a particular jingle/music in an
advertisement the brand produced. An intimate jingle/music catches the customer s attention and
makes them think twice about a product; and a bad jingle might make a company famous for the
wrong reasons, or persuade people from looking at a certain brand. The usage of music and jingles
in marketing has proven to be of importance. It helps to create the product or brand s image and it
also helps, together with all of the other marketing tools to promote the product and to make it
memorable for the consumers. (Shimp Andrews, 2013 pp 65 66)
One of the important aspects in music in advertising is the music fit or the degree of congruity
between the advertisement and song content. Marketing and music can definitely agree. This
involvement refers to the amount of attention directed toward the advertisement and its content. It
can be implied or directly stated, changing the way in which background music interacts with
advertisement viewing or listening.

Examples Of Contrastive Analysis In Foreign Language
Contrastive analysis finds out differences between two languge against similarities to be useful in

All fields such as business, culture, social, technology, education, etc. are using English as a
standard language to impart news, especially in comunication. Vietnam is trying to create the

all levels of education from nursery education to university education by many different subjects to

Dynamic Characters In Things Fall Apart
The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.
These are the words of Socrates on change and the human energy it may take to embrace it. One
culture that experienced significant change was the Ibo culture and its people. The novel Things
Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, clearly demonstrates the changes that took place in the Ibo culture
to a Western audience. By following the life of many dynamic characters throughout the story,
Achebe is able show the reader what the Ibo culture entails. Characters play a dominating role in
Chinua Achebe s novel by displaying how one must change in order to survive in the evolving
world. One of the most dynamic characters in Achebe s novel is Okonkwos son, Nwoye. From the

Even though many say that the idea of allowing same sex would be against God s will, and that
women are also the lesser sex of the two binary genders, as well that it is unnatural for people to
be transgender, everyone, regardless of gender (binary or otherwise) and Sexual/Romantic

homosexual couples have marriage rights. This leaves thirty three states with those who want to

Reflection Paper On Teaching A Lesson
I prepared for these lessons first by thinking carefully over how I was going to teach a specific
concept and what I was going to need. I did this several days before I actually began teaching the
concepts. Each day I found the items I would need for that day s lesson and had it in an easily
accessible place. Since this was my first week teaching I did not have previous experience to go
off of from this class. However, I did have an understanding that preparation is key because of
previous experiences giving instruction and not being prepared by thinking out exactly how I
would go about teaching the lesson.
Depending on the day I had different sets. On Monday, I created a picture graph for the students to
work with about the student s favorite sport. I believe this was an effective set because it got the
students moving and excited about sharing while learning something new. On Tuesday, I did not
really have a set. Because it was a test day I jumped right into reviewing what was learned
through the last few lessons. On Wednesday, I almost had a set, but since it was not using
interactive material, it failed to grab the attention as much as I had wanted. On Thursday, I used a
story for my set and felt that because I was having the students interact with the book by giving
answers, it captured their attention and interest. On Friday, I had the students talk about their
favorite animals. This was a good beginning to a set but after the fact, I felt as if I should have

Why Is Princess Diana Considered A Game Changer
What makes a person a game changer? A person is a game changer because of the way they
believe in a better world and try their best to help that world emerge. They want to make a change,
they inspire hope, show compassion, even if it is indirect, and they are loved. They would rather
make a difference than be in power. That is why Princess Dianais considered a game changer, she
even says: I d like to be a queen of people s hearts but I don t see myself being queen of this
country. Princess Diana is also considered a game changer because she changed the way that
people viewed the Royal Family; showed that even though one is rich, one can show compassion;

She raised her sons to love and inspire people. She showed them the motherly love that she
herself had not received and anyone in the Royal family has ever been shown. The author
recounts, Diana kissed them and hugged them hard. Motherly love could hardly be clearer.
Contrast that scene with a similar situation a generation earlier. When Diana s mother in law, the
Queen, returned from foreign travel she would greet a young Charles with a handshake. (Owen
77) Diana loved her kids more than anything in the world, even if her relationship with their
father did not work out. She knew she wanted to play a major role in how the young princes
grew up, and she most definitely did. Both of Diana s little princes show the contradictory sides
of their mother s personality. (Owen 76) Harry is a charmer, like his mother, while William is
sensitive and finds it challenging to deal with the media attention. Both sides of their mother that
each boy shows will be helpful to them in the future with their different responsibilities. It also
helps them because they both got compassion and a strong instinct from their mother as well.
William and Harry were truly the cornerstone of her life. So much so, it was wanting to be near
them that kept her in Britain, when other parts of the world without such intrusive media and
tougher privacy laws, often seemed more appealing to her. (Owen 77)

(Kenneth Merrell, 2012) Because the population of transgender students is so small, many
professionals neglect to research and study the physical and emotional challenges of transgender
students (many of whom remain hidden out of fear of rejection). Transgender students live in a
world where they are made to feel isolated and rejected by their peers and society. Being African
American, I know that our culture doesn t readily accept transgender people and we frown upon
and ridicule a parent who allows their child to choose a different gender. When the situation arises
where someone in our culture chooses to openly change genders we believe that it is a condition
that will either pass or can be prayed away. This way of thinking forces our children s worldview
to be rooted in shame and embarrassment and they begin to feel trapped in the wrong body with
no way out and no one to talk to. Their individual identity is questioned because they do not feel a
part of any specific culture. Knowing that through the acknowledgement of a student s identity, a
school psychologist can avoid stereotyping them or approaching them in a stereotypical way,
(Kenneth Merrell, 2012), it is important for transgender students to form a solid personal identity.
However, so many transgender students feel like they don t belong to any group of people and this

Black Political and Social History
Marcus Mosiah Garvey, the Visionary Who is arguably the father of 20th century Black
Nationalism? Some may think of the leader W.E.B. Dubois or even Malcolm X as being the
father. Truth be told, the term Black Nationalism boils down to one person. Marcus Mosiah
Garvey, Jr is his name. He was the youngest of eleven children and born on August 17, 1887 in St,
Ann s Bay Jamaica. His parents were Marcus Garvey, Sr and Sarah Jane Richards. Marcus Garvey
s father was strict and abusive, but molded him into a strong figure that would soon lead masses ...

To outside peers, UNIA was a beacon of hope in the black community. Garvey s UNIA
showcased Black excellence in black communities in America. He showed blacks, they were
important and certainly could prosper that day in age. Garvey was dedicated to helping the
black race and it was evident. His intentions were good, but his execution was poor. Many times,
Garvey s ego was his greatest stumbling block. It got in the way of his decision making abilities,
which led to poor performance. His vision was for blacks all over the world to board his ships
and reclaim their place back in Africa. Some of his ideas and actions over time were questioned
by other leaders. Leeuwen states, He met with a prominent leader of the Ku Klux Klan in
Atlanta in 1922 to discuss their views on miscegenation and social equality. That meeting only
gave more fuel to his critics. In 1924 DuBois claimed that Marcus Garvey is the most dangerous

race issue as one of class more than skin color, called Garvey the messenger boy of the Klan and a

When I Heard The Learn D Astronomer Analysis
The poems Oh Looking up by Chance at the Constellations by Robert Frost and When I heard the
Learn d Astronomer by Walt Whitman have many similarities and differences in their themes and
structures. Frost s and Whitman s poems are written in free verse which means that there is no
defined pattern or rhymewithin the poems. The major difference between the poems structure is the
use of end stop and enjambment within the poems. Frost s poem uses both enjambment and end
stop throughout the poem. For example, The sun and moon get crossed, but they never touch,
Nor strike out fire from each other nor crash out loud. (5 6). Whitman s poem uses mostly
enjambment until the very end of the poem which is the only line of the poem with uses end

Fourth Amendment Essay
In the late eighteenth century, after the United States of America achieved their independence from
their former ruler, American leaders decided that their country was in need of a new document to
rule over it. They took upon themselves the task of drafting the Constitution, which has been the
supreme law since its ratification. As part of its Bill of Rights, the Fourth Amendment protects
American citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures . While the internet did not exist for a
couple more centuries, this right that citizens have expands and changes as society does, therefore
internet protection falls under the umbrella of the Fourth Amendment. The government monitoring
the internet could be considered illegal under this fourth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This justifies the previous claims that internet protection should be included in the penumbra of the
Fourth and Fifth Amendments. A few years ago, a former employee of both the CIA and NSA,
Edward Snowden, became a whistleblower as he leaked information pertaining to the illicit
activities of the NSA. One of the NSA programs that Snowden informed the public on was called
XKeyscore, which allowed members of the NSA to search through enormous databases of emails,
online chats, and browsing histories of targets, (Business Insider). The government having the
ability to investigate the internet content of ordinary citizens, in any fashion similar to that of
XKeyscore, is unjust and denies American citizens their rights. The uproaring havoc of the public
following the Snowden leaks reflects how Americans today, as a whole, feel about their internet
content being watched by the government. Recently, the possibility of the FCC removing net
neutrality concerned many citizens, afraid they were possibly going to lose their internet
privileges. While this does not directly correlate to monitoring the internet, it goes to show that
many Americans do not wish to have a reduction in their internet

Alexander II And The Russian Revolution
In the 1800 s Russia was facing a very difficult time. Russia s recent defeat in the Crimean war
was a wake up call to the autocracy. This defeat proved to the autocracy that Russia had fallen
dangerously behind their western neighbors, ultimately making it easy for other countries to
attach and invade. At that point, Russia knew it was time for a change and it started with Tsar
Alexander II. Alexander II took over as emperor due to his fathers (Nicholas I) death in St.
Petersburg. Some say the reason for Russia s backward spiral was because of him. However, in
1855 the reign of Alexander II in Russia began and during his time he directed a period of
political and social reforms. Some of the reforms Alexander II thought had to be changed
included: education, military, government, and judicial. Even after trying to make multiple
changes and reforms to better the government, someone was still not clicking in the Russian
government. The main reason the society had so many problems dealt with the peasants. As
many soviet historians have claimed, these reforms were put in place to pacify the peasantry in
order to ward off revolution. During this time the peasants had to work on their lord owners land
and didn t have many other options. While under the new Tsar Alexander II the government ran
into a dry wall and needed a way out. Alexander II did something that to this day goes down as two
perspectives. The first one can be seen as a charter of freedom

Educational Achievement In Pima County
Educational attainment within Pima County is referencing the highest level of schooling, on
average, that the population in the county achieves.
In the most general form, the data will include people who are 25+ years old, whether they do or
do not have a high school diploma, and who out of this age group went on to obtain a higher
degree. As seen in Figure 5, close to 49% of people, aged 25 and older, in Pima County received a
high school diploma and 38% of this population obtained a higher degree. To be more specific,
when looking at the percentages of male versus female education attainment they do not vary by
much. When referencing Figure 6, it can be seen that males had a greater percentage than females

include schools for a range of ages. Some of the districts in this category are Ajo Unified (PK 12th

provided are charter schools. These schools are tuition free state funded public schools, made by
legislation in 1994, that contract with the State Board of Education and the State Board for Charter

of the child through tuition. Some private schools include Casas Christian School (KG 8th), Desert

schools in the Pima County are Christian faith based schools. Also, there is the fourth category,

that need to be followed. In general, homeschooling is nonpublic school ran by the parent, guardian,
a person in custody of the child, or by instruction from one of these three (Pima County School

must be filed with the county school superintendent and have the child s name, birth certificate,
address that it will take place, etc. (Pima County School Superintendent, 2014a). Along with these
things, the parents doing the homeschooling are accountable for their curriculum but must teach the
child the subjects of math, reading, grammar, science, and social studies (Pima County School

The National Rifle Association ( Nra )
Of the many interest groups that have a viable, unwavering presence in both the campaign and
election process and in the hands of its taxpaying voters is the National Rifle Association
(NRA). The nonprofit organization has a staunch and straightforward message: to advocate and
protect the second amendment. As of late, the NRA has received criticism by some candidate
who is running for presidency, and even the President himself, but this has not changed the
purpose or image of the organization through the eyes of the American people. Other candidates
can see this, and they are in full fledge of their support for the NRA, which is not only cohesive
but reciprocal, and has been one of the standing points for these candidates. Because of this,
Fortune magazine has recognized NRA as the most powerful lobbying force in the United States.
The National Rifle Association is an effective interest group because of its strong advocacy for
gun rights, its strong support from taxpayers and politicians, and its notable presence in policy
making and legislation. The NRA is a powerful organization that has a long, illustrious history of
advocating gun rights and the second amendment. The nonprofit organization was founded in
November of 1871 by William Conant Church and George Wood Wingate, and has educated and
informed its members on gun related legislation and policy since the mid 1930s after the first
federal gun control law was passed. By the mid 1970s, however, the NRA has directly

Creon Is The Tragic Hero In Antigone
Identifying the tragic hero in Sophocles Antigone has been an ongoing controversy for years. It is
out of the ordinary for there to be two tragic heroes in a Greek tragedy and in Antigone there is
only one. Creon possesses some of the traits that confirms a tragic hero but he does not have all the
paramount traits. The tragic heroin Antigone is indeed Antigone, she embraces all the attitudes of
a true tragic hero. Aristotle describes the traits each character must have to be identified as a
tragic hero. Antigone possesses all of them she is persistent in her behavior, she is trustworthy
and believable, she overcome her conflict within herself, she is a good ethical person and she
remains focused on becoming a better person throughout the drama. A tragic hero also in some
aspect has to go through a tragic event. To be a tragic hero Antigone must primarily be a good
ethical person. Up until the burial of her brother Polynieces, Antigone obeyed all the laws of the
land. The drama portrayed her as compassionate and humane. Antigone s decision to bury her
brother was definitely ethical and respectful, and most people in her position would agree. Antigone
in no way intentionally wanted to break the laws... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Creon only changes his mind because he is afraid of the things that will happen to him and his

Definition Of Vanity And Pride By Guy De Maupassant
Vanity and Pride by Guy De Maupassant Vanity and pride are different things, though the words
are often used alike. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion
of us, to what we would have others think of us . In the story of The Necklace by Guy de
Maupassant, Guy de Maupassant believes that vanity and prideare dangerous. Pride is a high
opinion of one s own worth or abilities and vanity is a quality of people who have too much
pride in their own appearance abilities, achievements and the quality of being vain. Vanity and
pride are dangerous because it can makes your life miserable and because it s like you re too self
centered and you only think about yourself. And pride doesn t go you anywhere good; it makes
you look like a jerk. In the story, the character named Mathilde Loisel is a pretty and charming girl.

The Prince Lessons
The Prince written by NiccolГІ Machiavelli was first published during the Italian Renaissance in
1532. The book teaches politicians how to be powerful and yet viewed positively among the
people. Machiavelli discussed actions of past rulers of Europe and whether or not their actions
were correct. He analyzed how these men seized, retained and lost political power as well as
land. The book has lasted throughout the ages and is referred to as a classic by many. The reason
behind this is that its messages are applicable to all forms of government even in present day.
However this was not what Machiavelli intended when he first started writing the book. If read
carefully, it can be seen that he mainly targets a certain area for his guide. Also, most... Show more

A key lesson is in chapter III when the reader learns how to retain land in a mixed principality.
There are two different types of rulers that Machiavelli talked about. The first one he talked
about was King Louis XII of France. He lectured that King Louis occupied Milan (an Italian
state) and just as quickly lost it (Machiavelli, 9). The author said that he seized it correctly but did
not do anything to retain the land he had captured. Machiavelli then introduces his ideas about
retaining land and compares them to the Romans in that same chapter. He then said the Romans
captured and held massive amounts of surrounding area as they followed the correct actions.
Three main actions are taught in chapter three. The first action is to make a ruler s land/country
superior and the defender of your neighboring lands/countries. The second is to not alter a newly
seized territories s way of life and to go and live there. These will both result in the people not
viewing the prince as a foreigner therefore having a less chance of rebellion. Lastly keep out and
limit foreigners in the prince s seized land. This will stop the prince from having anyone that gains
more influence than himself. Machiavelli used many ruler that ruled before his time in his

Larc Blackwood Persuasive Speech
A WORLD ON FIRE
Prologe Good afternoon fellow leaders! projected Larc Blackwood, I have all called you here
today to propose an idea that can truly end all wars and national conflicts throughout the world!
The other politicians and world leaders snickered and whispered their doubts to one another, a
few hopeful youths always proposed a way to end all conflicts a few times a year but they were
always cast aside as futile attempt at something that could never be obtained, true world peace. And
how do we know your idea will be so different from all the others we ve heard? asked Wilson
Brightland. A sudden hush fell across the room, Wilson Brightland was the leader of one of the
most powerful nations known as Ultras and his voice carried much influence. He was six and
half feet and 250 pounds of pure muscle and raw leadership, he rose through his countries ranks
with prejudice speed and assumed the High Graceship when he was only 28, the youngest to
have ever accomplished such a fet. His glare made Blackwood hesitate, but he carried on in his
usual commanding manner, I propose that rather than waring with each other and progressively
making ourselves weaker, we all unite under one common banner, with one king chosen by the
council, to rule over the world as one unified nation! There was a long pause. One minute went
by, then slowly a second one followed. A bead of sweat started to form on Blackwood s face. He
feared that they thought him crazy, that his idea would be cast aside like the others, but luckily a

The Omnivore s Dilemma By Michael Pollan
Food dominates the lives of people. It is used as comfort and fuel. But the controversy is, what
should people consume? Burkhard Bilger s piece, Nature s Spoils, explores the abnormal way of
eating, which is the fermentation of food. It is usually a safe practice, and also produces vitamins
in the making. The Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollan expresses the problem of how humans
select food. In How Do We Choose What to Eat? by Susan Bowerman she points out the influences
on people s life that affects their eatinghabits. By using Bowerman s article as the keystone, Nature
s Spoils and The Omnivore s Dilemma can be compared and contrasted. Since the food that people
consume daily can affect them in the future, it must be chosen carefully.
In Nature s Spoils by Burkhard Bilger, he follows Katz Sanders, who is a lover of sauerkraut and
fermented food. The biography that Bilger includes of Sanders from goes back to when Sanders he
was a political activist in 1972 before becoming a fermentation fetisht to where he was tested
H.I.V. positive around 1991. One of the places they spent most was in Hickory Knoll, where
Sanders spent a majority of his time experimenting with fermented foods. Along one of the stops
during their road trip, they met a man named, Garth. Garth tells them of his story of eating raw
milk and other food that hasn t been processed, and how it had only made him feel stronger, which
brings up the controversy of what is risky or beneficial to eat. As

A New Form of Expansion Essay
A New Form of Expansion
Before the start of the Spanish American War of the late nineteenth century and World War I in the
early twentieth century, the United States had encouraged expansion as being a way of gaining
power. For example, the Frontier thesis, conveyed that it is through the expansion of new lands that
humanity would continue to progress. Also the United States portrayed its impatience to expand
through Manifest Destiny: the desire to expand from sea to sea with the goal to own and cultivate
as much land as possible. However, as the late nineteenth and early twentieth century appeared,
America experienced a change. It grew from an ambitious, power seeking country, to the ... Show

Pacific is our ocean….And the Pacific is the ocean of the commerce of the future…The

The United States interfered with foreign affairs whenever necessary to keep order. As shown
through the Annual Message to Congress, Theodore Roosevelt conveys that if it (a nation) keeps
order and pays its obligations, it need fear no interference from the United States (Doc F). The Platt
Amendment of 1901 specified the conditions under which the U.S could intervene in Cuba s
internal affairs; stating that Cuba could not make a treaty with another nation that might impair its
independence. Secondly, it was through the approval of the 1898 Treaty of Paris, that the Spanish
American War ended and

How Did Greek Culture Influence The Minoan Culture
In order to explain the influence the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures had on the later Greeks it is
important to understand the beginnings of Greek culture. The first known civilization of Greek
culture were the Minoans, consequently, there is not a lot of information about this group (The
Flow of History, 2007). The language used by the Minoans is referred to as Linear A, the
language is said to have been the foundation for later Greek language. The Mycenaeans broadened
the Linear A language to make it their own, it is known as Linear B.
The Minoans were thought to be a peaceful society, conversely, the Mycenaeans were geared
most toward warfare. The peacefulness of the Minoan culture is depicted in their artwork, pottery,
as well as their architecture (The Flow of History, 2007). The ruins of the palaces from the
Minoans do not display any fortification to indicate they needed to protect themselves from
enemies. The weapons used in later Greek culture was similar to the weaponry crafted by the
Mycenaeans, as well as the Minoans. The noted difference is the metal, the Minoans and the
Mycenaeans crafted their weapons with bronze the later Greeks used iron (Matthews et. al., 2014).

In the later Greek culture, following the Dark Ages, trade was again the main focus for the
prosperity of the civilization (Matthews et. al., 2014). In both cultures there is a religious belief
in gods and goddesses, moreover, both shared in the worship of Zeus. There are various statues
depicting the gods, goddesses, as well as the heroes of both the Minoans and the Mycenaeans. The
Minoan culture worshipped Zeus in the form of a child who died as an adult, conversely, the
Mycenaeans worship Zeus as an immortal god who created and ruled both mortals as well as

Cardinal Law
Many people will argue that God was speaking to humanity in a language they would understand
for the period in history when it was written. Let s take a look at what religion has accomplished
in the twenty first century. Meet Cardinal Bernard Francis Law, former Archpriest of the Basilica
di Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome from 2004 to 2011. Cardinal Law was appointed by Pope John
Paul II, considered in the Catholic Religion to be the Vicar of Christ on earth (earthly
representative of Jesus). Before his appointment by the Popein 2004, Cardinal Law was the
Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Churchin Boston when church documents showed he had,
according to the Boston Globe, covered up sexual abuse committed by dozens of Catholic priests

He resigned from this position upon reaching the age of 80 in November 2011. Now, let s look
at where your religious contributions are heading when you put your hard earned money into the
offering basket during Sunday mass. The priest collects the funds, the funds are then sent to their
supervisory figures, the Archpriests, then up to the Cardinals, and finally the Pope. And where
has this money gone? To the families to silence them from letting you know of the rape and
torture of your children at the hands of Catholic priests. To simply say or hear the word rape,
assuming a priori that you understand what those children endured is part of the problem. You
first need to put yourself in the mindset and physical body of a child as an authoritative figure in a
white robe forces their heads in between the legs of the priest and forces them to perform disgusting

The General Film Essay
The General
Buster Keaton wrote, directed, and acted in the film The General (1926). The silent film is a chase
comedy enriched by realism. Siegfried Kracauer states that film represents reality as it evolves in
time with the aid of cinematic techniques and devices. Film literally photographs reality to record
and reveal physical reality. Physical reality being called material reality, physical existence,
actuality, and simply nature. The movement in the filmThe General emphasizes the motion of the
chase. There is a continuity of suspenseful physical action during many of the scenes where Buster
Keaton s character Johnny Gray is chasing his stolen engine then he himself is being chased once
he gets his engine back. This is continuous throughout the film with non stop motion. In a realistic
tendency, film gives image movement. It recreates stage reality through both actions and characters
and even the surrounding world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Buster Keaton uses his facial expressions in The General to help tell the story without dialogue
in scenes such as when his character is trapped in silence under the table surrounded by Union
army members. Johnny suppresses a sneeze, gets burned by a cigar, and hears the love of his life,
Annabel, voice. It shows us the facial expression as more subjective than speech or sound. All of
these techniques help create a physical reality, which makes the film realistic. During this sequence
the spectator also gets a point of view shot from the eyes of Buster Keaton s character. When he
looks through the cigar hole in the tablecloth we get a masked

  • 2. The Philosophy Of Passive Management speaking, not true. In particular, it was assumed that the market is in the state of equilibrium (i.e. all investors have finished to complete their portfolios), operational and transaction costs (payment of intermediaries services, staff, information services, taxes, etc.) are insignificant, the investor has the ability to receive and grant loans on the same risk free rate, and so on. Nevertheless, the idea that the market portfolio is probably close to an effective portfolio, initiated a passive portfolio management. This strategy means that when the investor prepares the portfolio, determining the expected return, he is focused entirely on the market portfolio and he doesn t carry on to make any changes in the composition of the portfolio after its formation. Hence is the name. The philosophy of passive management is to minimize the costs of market research and the formation of the portfolio if there is sufficient guarantee of obtaining a stable high yield. In fact, an investor, preparing the portfolio, is focused on some reference portfolio (benchmark portfolio), i.e. portfolio with standard yield in comparison with the actual yield of the portfolio manager. This is not necessarily to consider as a reference only the market portfolio. There are dozens of different investment funds, called index funds, which focus on the benchmark portfolio, consisting of securities, selected for a particular trait (eg: a part of any index). So, there are index funds holding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Special Education Curriculum For Students With Disabilities 1.From your perspective, what exactly, are we talking about when we say special education curriculum ? At first I was a little confused about this question. I was thinking about special education curriculum in the terms of an adaptive curriculum. After reading the articles form this module and locating my own article, special educationcurriculum refers to what educators are doing to make the general education curriculum accessible to students with disabilities. Although there have been many changes related to the education of students with disabilities, there is still a noticeable gap in achievement between students without disabilities and students with disabilities (Aron Loprest, 2012). 2.Describe the legal climate of special education today. How does this climate affect the decisions we make in designing and implementing special education curricula? Provide specific examples. There are many legal issues that arise in the area of special education. During the summer 2015 school term I completed the course Special Education Law. In this course I discovered that litigation regarding the laws of IDEA and Section 504 are on the rise. Parents are more educated of their rights and there are advocates as well as organizations readily available to assist student with disabilities as well as their parents. Some of the topics that can cause legal issues include placement in the least restrictive environment, progress monitoring of goals and objectives and making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Snowmobiling on Priest Mountain Essay Snowmobiling on Priest Mountain In late May I never pictured myself carving a highmark on Priest Mountain. Priest Mountain is nestled on the east edge of the Grand Mesa National Forest. Deep sugary snow and feathery blue spruce trees cover the mountain and the area around. One fine day it occurred that I had the opportunity to carve my highmark and I still I have the mental image of my territory after that day. Even before that day, Priest has left a impression on me. Priest Mountain, for me, has been such a majestic riding area; IГve been riding in this area for more than 10 years, and it is such a magical place to ride. On this one fine day, we had a typical Colorado snow storm.. I can recall this very trip to the wonderful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The large lot was completely full; the trucks and trailers were packed into the lot like a can of sardines. I finally found a place to park and we unloaded the machines. There was slight breeze and a whisper in the air; Priest Mountain was calling my name! Once my dad arrived, we were on our way. I jumped out into the first park that we came to and the fresh new powder exalted me. We then rode over to our friend s cabin to say hello and have a Pepsi. We asked our friend, Bob to come along for the ride and he was delighted to join us. From there we cut across flat lined Twin Lake and then across the untracked Eggleston Lake. To my unpleasant surprise, we approached the lodge, and sleds were buzzing around like crows on road kill. Ten miles down the road I expected to, at least, see some other people riding, but we had the whole mountain to ourselves. We rode from mountain to mountain, crossing open drainages and gigantic playgrounds of snow one after another. After an hour of hard riding we came to our first rest stop and decided to ride over towards Priest. Of course, we played and got stuck along the way. The measles, mumps and rubella vaccinations (MMR), that are supposed to help are being questioned by people believing they are linked to Autism. Numerous studies have shown that there is no connection between the two. The holes and lies in this theory are prevalent when looking in depth at how this theory was established, whom it benefits if it s true, and the facts that disprove it. Science is supposed, to tell the truth, but because humans are the ones performing the experiments sometimes there are flaws. For instance, Andre Wakefield in 1998 of Royal Free Hospital in London, England, said the Measles, Mumps, and rubella vaccines were to blame for autism. Andrew Wakefield came to this conclusion based on results found in eight out of twelve children. His results were then published in a medical journal called Lancet. Andrew Wakefield condemnation of vaccination caused the public to become scared ( vaccinations and Autism . . .). • 9. The Importance of Music In Marketing Techniques Music has become an important part of the marketing tool s extent, with the compound usage of TV and radio as the mean of communicating with the consumers. Music can serve universal promotional goals in one or more of several capacities. The classic jingle is the most common musical technique for aiding memorability and thus product recall. Some of the biggest products and companies in the world are successful solely because of the customer satisfaction, this is also because the customers like a particular jingle/music in an advertisement the brand produced. An intimate jingle/music catches the customer s attention and makes them think twice about a product; and a bad jingle might make a company famous for the wrong reasons, or persuade people from looking at a certain brand. The usage of music and jingles in marketing has proven to be of importance. It helps to create the product or brand s image and it also helps, together with all of the other marketing tools to promote the product and to make it memorable for the consumers. (Shimp Andrews, 2013 pp 65 66) One of the important aspects in music in advertising is the music fit or the degree of congruity between the advertisement and song content. Marketing and music can definitely agree. This involvement refers to the amount of attention directed toward the advertisement and its content. It can be implied or directly stated, changing the way in which background music interacts with advertisement viewing or listening. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Since this was my first week teaching I did not have previous experience to go off of from this class. Being African American, I know that our culture doesn t readily accept transgender people and we frown upon and ridicule a parent who allows their child to choose a different gender. When the situation arises where someone in our culture chooses to openly change genders we believe that it is a condition that will either pass or can be prayed away. This way of thinking forces our children s worldview to be rooted in shame and embarrassment and they begin to feel trapped in the wrong body with no way out and no one to talk to. The book teaches politicians how to be powerful and yet viewed positively among the people. Machiavelli discussed actions of past rulers of Europe and whether or not their actions were correct. He analyzed how these men seized, retained and lost political power as well as land. The book has lasted throughout the ages and is referred to as a classic by many. The first one he talked about was King Louis XII of France. He lectured that King Louis occupied Milan (an Italian state) and just as quickly lost it (Machiavelli, 9). The author said that he seized it correctly but did not do anything to retain the land he had captured. Machiavelli then introduces his ideas about retaining land and compares them to the Romans in that same chapter. He then said the Romans captured and held massive amounts of surrounding area as they followed the correct actions. Three main actions are taught in chapter three.
