Essay About Usa
Crafting an essay on the subject of the United States of America is akin to navigating a vast and
intricate labyrinth of historical, cultural, political, and socio-economic complexities. The sheer
breadth and depth of material to cover can be overwhelming, requiring a meticulous approach to
research and analysis.
To encapsulate the essence of a nation as diverse and multifaceted as the USA within the
confines of an essay presents a formidable challenge. One must grapple with centuries of rich
history, from the founding fathers and the birth of democracy to pivotal moments like the Civil
War, the civil rights movement, and contemporary challenges.
Furthermore, delving into the intricacies of American society necessitates an understanding of its
cultural tapestry, ranging from literature, art, and music to the nuances of regional identities and
the ever-evolving concept of the American Dream.
On the political front, dissecting the complex system of governance, the role of institutions, and
the dynamics of partisan politics demands a nuanced perspective and a keen eye for detail.
Moreover, addressing the socio-economic landscape entails grappling with issues of inequality,
immigration, healthcare, education, and the enduring debate surrounding the role of government
in shaping the nation's trajectory.
In essence, composing an essay on the USA requires more than just assembling facts and figures;
it demands a deep appreciation for the complexities that define this nation and a critical
examination of its past, present, and future trajectory.
In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on this topic may seem daunting, it is also an
opportunity to engage with one of the most influential and dynamic nations in the world,
offering insights into its triumphs, challenges, and ongoing evolution.

Krokodil Research Paper
What is Krokodil? Krokodil is a liquid substance that contains many indigestible
ingredients. These ingredients are; lighter fluid, gasoline, opiates, cleaning solutions
such as bleach, hydrochloric acid, iodine, red phosphorous, and many other lethal
ingredients. Krokodil is made different every time, mostly just ingredients that a
person can find for little to no money. One of these ingredients is paint thinner. To
make Krokodil, a person simply puts these ingredients in a bowl, transfers it to a
spoon, and adds heat to the bottom. Next, they find a syringe, and suck the liquid into
it so it can be injected into the body.
Side effects of Krokodil are widespread and miserable. These side effects include;
gangrene, skin and soft tissue infections, skin grafts, limb amputations, blood vessel
damage, bone infections, blood poisoning, and open ulcers. These are just some of
the side effects from Krokodil. Not only is there side effects, but there is always
long term effects. One of these effects is speech and motor skill lose. Amputations
are also a long term effect of Krokodil. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Krokodil is popular because of its price. Heroin and Krokodil are similar but heroin
is more expensive. Not to mention heroin is has been around longer than krokodil.
Most people that are addicted to a drug for a long period of time eventually can t
afford the price of their addiction. The reason it is easy to purchase is because of the
contents in it. It s simply because it contains very cheap components. Krokodil is 10

The Things They Carried Character Analysis Essay
Dead Weight: Analysis of The Things They Carried Tim O Brien tells the story in a
third person narrative about Lieutenant Jimmy Cross and his platoon of young
American men in the Vietnam War. In The Things They Carried we can see how
war has the power to transform a boy, into a man and a leader through a mental battle
of his own.
O Brien is a very talented author. The word choice and description he chooses, paints
the scene for the Vietnam War. O Brien unites meditation on how to tell war stories
with discussion of the epistemological constraints of knowledge and experience.
(Vernon, 177) His past is what gave him inspiration for the story The Things They

O Brien descriptively described each soldier s load in weight physically and
emotionally. What they carried was a necessity for survival no matter if there was a
physically weight to the burden or not.
Some of the necessities were P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs,
wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellant, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt
tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, C rations and two or three canteens
of water. By necessity, and because it was standard operating procedure they all
carried steel helmets that weighed five pounds. On their feet they carried jungle
boots, which weighed two pounds. They also carried a steel centered nylon covered
flak jacket which weighed seven pounds. (O Brien 266)
These men would walk and walk never knowing when the light of the tunnel was

Konzo Disease Summary
This current news article talks about how poverty is one of the main reasons for a
mysterious disease that citizens from Africa have been reporting for nearly a
century. This disease called Konzo causes permanent paralysis on whoever
consumes a crop named cassava. Hans Rosling, an epidemiologist and pop star
statistician, who died of pancreatic cancer earlier this month was the first person
who found the cause Konzo disease back in 1990. However, he also argues that a
secondary reason for this disease is the lifestyle and social class of many members
from communities around Africa.
According to Amy Maxmen, the editor of this article, the cassava crop is harmless

Gymnastics Springboard
The topic of this experiment is to determine which type of gymnastics springboard
will give the highest elevation. There are two types of springboards used in vaulting
the traditional springboard and the air board. Based on research the hypothesis states
that if a gymnast jumps on an air board then the heightoff the board will be higher
than if jumping on a traditional springboard.
To begin with, the vault has been in the Olympics for men since 1896 and for
women since 1952. The vault requires a gymnast to run down a runway, jump on a
springboard, and flip over the vault table. The springboard is a very important piece
in the vault. It is made up of a platform and springs and is used to help get the
gymnast up in the air. This experiment was chosen to determine if one type of
springboard gives and advantage over the other. ... Show more content on

Both the traditional and air springboards are widely used and sanctioned by USAG
guidelines. The traditional springboard uses up to six vertical springs while the air
board uses up to 40 horizontal springs. Gymnasts appear to defy gravity when they
are doing their flips but it is really physics and Newton s 3rd Law in action. When a
gymnast jumps on a springboard the springs compress and then decompress pushing
the gymnast into the air. This is an example of Newton s 3rd Law of Motion which
states that every action has an equal but opposite reaction (tackk.com/c003hs). Before
the gymnast jumps on the springboard the board and springs have potential energy.
When the gymnast jumps on the springboard it turns into kinetic energy and causes
the board to push the gymnast up. The larger number of springs in the air board have
more potential energy which leads to the hypothesis that it will provide the greatest

ANALYSIS OF THE 7 P s
INTRODUCTION
Services are very different from products. So the marketing concepts need to be
revisited while marketing a service. Services can range from financial services
provided by the banks, technology services provided by the IT Company, food and
ambiance as a service provided by restaurants or even a blog where an author
provides a service (information presentation, interesting reading etc) to his audience.
Services marketing are dominated by the 7 Ps of marketing namely Product, Price,
Place, Promotion, People, Process and Physical evidence. The 7 P frameworks is one
of the most popular framework for deciding a marketing strategy, right from strategy

PRICE
Price is the most important factor in doing business especially in a service industry.
It is because there is a tight competition in a service industry. So marketer need to
consider a price that is similar or even lower than the market price. This is to help
the industry to penetrate into the market as customer usually will consider price as
the most important factor in selecting their service provider. Marketer can increase
the price only if the company can provide better service than other competitors.
The prices a company sets for its product and services must strike a balance between
gaining acceptance with the target customers and making a profit for the organisation.
Services being, all the more intangible, the price becomes an important factor for the
actual service consumption to happen, after service awareness and service
acknowledgement.

Independence is extremely important, necessary, and appropriate because without an
independent IAD, IAD s objective of adding values and improving business
operations cannot be achieved. Independence is also a key component in Attribute
Standard. Accountability section states the chief audit executive s responsibility to
the management and audit committee. It is necessary and appropriate because it leads
to significant communication between the CAE and top management and between
the CAE and the Board; it also helps ensure that the standards and requirement of the
internal auditing function is achieved.
5.Company s new CAE can explain to the non audit employees that IAD s objective is
to add values and help improve the business processes as well as company
performance, which will affect each employee significantly. It is important to let all
employees understand that the answers or thoughts they provide to the internal
auditors will not be used against them. Moreover, establishing good relationship and
providing ongoing communication with the non audit employees can make them feel
more comfortable to share their feedback and thoughts, and can reduce the us vs.

Active voice describes the sentences where the action or verb is occurring from the
subject. Furthermore, there are three examples of Ferrell as she uses several
examples of active voice throughout her poems. Ferrell begins her poem, Harmless
as Recalled by a Fairy Tale by recalling , After our rendez vous this is the last word
he said, waving to me as the train pulled away from the station (1 2), in this
sentence the active voice she is conveying is through the word waving. In this
sentence the subject is the train and the action being done is waving. In another
example of her poem of, Harmless as Recalled by a Fairy Tale , she vindicates,
Hunting out clues, I went over the roses and snows of his departed face like a
treasure map, over ( 15 16), in this sentence the word she uses to convey active
voice is through the word hunting. In this sentence she describes how as she was
departed from her lover, her world had come crashing down and sets out a
mysterious tone for the poem. In addition to the example of an active voice is in
her poem Gerburt des Monica kinds when she asserts, I was the actor who forgets

Pai s Opinions Of Leadership In Whale Rider
During the first scene in Whale Rider, the protagonist Pai is born into a tribe that
depends on her twin brother on becoming chief, but with his and their mothers
death during childbirth, her grandfather Koro wished in his heat that I (Pai) had
never been born). Though his opinion of Pai changes as she grows and they
become very close. Being the chief of the community, Paka takes tradition and
culture very seriously Paka believes that Pai s twin brother was born to be the chief,
though the audience finds out that it was Pai s duty to become chief. But while Pai
shows this clearly, Koro s antiquated ways and beliefs makes it difficult for her to
assume her position as chief.

Koro s opinion of leadership is out dated and sexist while Pai s opinions are
modern and suit the new ways of the world today. Koro believes that leading is a
man s job and a woman s duty lies within the house. Pai on the other hand learns
that she is just as capable as the other tribe boys and while she is not allowed to
attend the school Koro is running to find a new chief, she seeks out the help of
Rawiri and excels in the leadership qualities Koro is so desperately trying to find
within the boys. Nanny does not show much of an opinion about leadership
throughout the movie, though she does have similar ideas to Koro, You might be
the boss out there... But I m the boss in this kitchen. While she is not as against a
female leader like Koro, she still has an out dated opinion of a woman s duty
within the house. Rawiri shows a lot of belief in Pai, especially when he agrees to
teach her how to use the Taiaha behind Koro s back. Though this does not fully
display his ideas on leadership, it does prove to the audience that he believes in Pai
and her ability to lead, therefor showing an understanding of modern ideals about
leadership contrary to Paka s judgment. Paka s ideas on leadership barely change
throughout the movie until Pai goes to the extreme level of riding the whale out to
sea. By doing this she ultimately becomes The Whale Rider , and Koro s traditional
view of leadership changes completely. In one of the last scenes, when Pai is lying
in the hospital bed with Paka next to her he begins to talk to her, apologising for
his ways, Wise leader, forgive me. I am just a fledgling new to flight . By saying this
he is implying that he trying to change and accept the modern leadership ideals Pai

Battle Of New France Essay
During the 17th century, the French and Native allies inflicted monumental defeats
against England. At the same time, New France was rapidly expanded into areas of
land stretching down South towards Louisiana. As Settlements began to prosper,
Great Britain viewed this growth as a threat to their position in North American trade,
which was the linchpin to war with New France. Through years of industrious and
unwearying battle, The French fought unwaveringly to defend their colony.
Unfortunately, they fell short and lost every installment, one by one. This can be
attributed to many issues of New France during this time. The battle between France
and Englandwas a major catalyst for struggles that preceded and eventually led to the
fall of New... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, they sent very little troops to combat the Americans and defend the
New France colony. France also deemed it vital to protect their colonies in the
West Indies because they thought that sugar cane was more of a lucrative business
than the fur trade in New France. The war between colonies were heavily
dependent upon supplies and reinforcements sent by the mother countries. This
was clearly evident because Britain was dedicated to a full forced takeover versus
Britain that sent only what they could spare. The British had a fleet of ships in
their Royal Navy that was a key cog in taking over New France. The British used
these ships to capture French ships sent from France with supplies from entering
port. As a result, Louisbourg was the first domino to fall. In 1758, Louisbourg
witnessed this massive fleet of ships enter the bay and initiate an all out assault on
the fortress. Soldiers under the command of General Amherst and James Wolfe
proceeded with the attack but took heavy artillery fire upon their arrival at shore.
They had no choice but to move further upstream, regroup and try a different
approach. To their surprise, Wolfe and his soldiers landed in an area where they
were able to unload with ease. The tables had turned; Louisbourg was now under
constantly bombardment. As the fortress started to crumble under fire, French
warships were able to escape the harbor (Dale 46). People hoped for reinforcements
Sir Alexander Ferguson Research Paper
There are many wild stories to tell, but the wildest of all is that of Sir Alexander
Chapman Ferguson, the greatest soccer manager of his time and of Manchester
United. The name Ferguson is known by many soccer fans around the world, and is
internationally recognized for everything that he has done, from bringing his team
to success to changing how the fans and players viewed soccer. Ferguson took a
team that was in shambles and led them to victory, all the while having a cultural
and emotional impact on the club supporters, and the world. He introduced a new
style of playing, one of hard work and high pressure, and used it to topple the teams

In his autobiography, he talks about all the people he encountered, and how they
changed his life as well. In one of his two champion s league titles, a dramatic one
one at full time was played out versus Chelsea. The two teams then went to extra
time, where no one could score, and then they went to penalties. Both team s first
four people to take the penalties scored, but young Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up
for the fifth. He had already scored the lone goal for United in the beginning, but
somehow his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Petr Cech as he took the penalty. The
entire stadium held its breath as the Chelsea defender, John Terry, stepped up to
the spot. If he scored, he won. John Terry missed that shot and hit the post.
Ferguson quickly spoke to his keeper, giving him advice on what to do for the next
penalty. Soon after, United goalkeeper Van Der Saar blocked the seventh penalty
by Chelsea to take Manchester United to win the cup. Fans all over the world were
crying, and rejoicing in the win. It was all because of the genius of the manager,
Ferguson. He took the team all the way to the final in a dramatic game that saw him
win. The emotions that took control of the people were crazy. The city of
Manchester was celebrating for days before the atmosphere finally died down, but
the victory was one in the record books
Strengths And Weaknesses Of Scenario Based Analysis
7.2Strengths and Limitations and Further Research of the Study
7.2.1Strengths
The present research combined quantitative and qualitative research design. These
approaches complemented each other and provided different perspectives for
analysis, which in turn allows valid and reliable results. For instance, key informant
interviews and expert communications contribute to the design of simulation
scenarios. The quantitative analysis allows measurement of the impact of carbon
payments using mathematical programming. Using econometric techniques, the
willingness to participate in forest based carbon projects was analyzed, as well as
farmers clearing decisions in the Amazon area. The qualitative approach allowed the

The model constructed relies on own survey data and some statistical data from
national and regional surveys. This data was used in parameterization and
calibration activities. In the survey, heaping, a typical error in agricultural data, was
presented (Beegle et al. 2012). Heaping is a special case of data coarsening where
respondents round quantitative information (e.g. around one hectare may in reality
be either 1.2 or 0.8 hectare). This could have an influence on the estimates of
production functions, as happened with Schreinemachers (2006). Another problem
was the farmers use local reference units and we lack conversion tables for those
units. For instance, outputs of some crops such as plantain, cassava or fruits were
reported in bunch or bags without specifying their weights in kg. In order to
overcome this later problem, a conversion table was built during interviews, through
asking members of the community with more education and also key experts.
Information about fertilizer and pesticides was recorded by plot and not by crop, a
problem mentioned in section 6.2.2.1.1.
Externalities. In the study, carbon sequestration was the only positive externality
accounted, but there are other ecosystem services that forest projects could enhance
such as biodiversity, soil erosion control, and water regulation, among others.
Incorporating these direct and indirect values into the analysis will provide a better
picture for land use

The Theme Of Plot In Sweat By Zora Hurston
In her short story Sweat , Zora Hurston uses plot to expose the theme that what goes
around comes around. Plot is an author s careful arrangement of incidents in a
narrative in order to achieve a desired effect. In Hurston s case, the desired effect is
shaping the theme of the story. Throughout Sweat , all of the events are carefully
thought out in order to show the reader that Sykes got what he deserved, therefore
creating the theme what goes around comes around. The main highlighted events in
this plotare the verbal conflict that Delia and Sykes have, the town scene where
Sykes is being discussed by local townspeople, Sykes bringing home a rattlesnake,
and Sykes getting bit by the snake.
The first major incident in the plot of Sweat is a verbal conflict between Delia and
Sykes in the beginning. It starts with Delia being scared with a bullwhip by Sykes.
She reacts in fear, saying, Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You
know it would skeer me... (Hurston). Delia and Sykes go back and forth about how
scared Delia is scared of snakes, and how Sykes purposely wants to scare her.
Delia, however, stays calm until she seizes a skillet and strikes a defensive pose.
Sykes is shocked, so he just leaves the house, slamming the gate after him
(Hurston). At this point in the story, the reader gets a good idea of the relationship
between Delia and Sykes. The reader knows Delia and Sykes are opposites, Sykes
badness outlines the good, hardworking side of Delia. This first scene serves as
rising action to get to know the life of Delia and Sykes. The theme is not yet clear,
because the plot is only beginning. However, Delia foreshadows Sykes fate at the
end of this part of Hurston s story. Delia thinks out loud before sleep when she says,
Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back, is got to come under his belly.
Sometime or ruther, Sykes, like everybody else, is gointer reap his sowing (Hurston).
The next scene of this story is the conversation the townspeople have. When they see
Delia, they spark a conversation about how badly Sykes treats Delia (Hurston). A
few of the townspeople comment angrily, He useter be so skeered uh lookin huh...We
oughter take Syke an dat stray oman uh his n down in
Essay on Intercultural Communication
Today, we live in a culturally diverse society due to globalization. As our world
grows, expands and become increasingly more interconnected, the need for effective
interpersonal communication among differing cultures has become apparent. When
people from different cultures interact with one another there is intercultural
communicationbecause different cultures create different interpretation and
expectations about what is seen as competent behaviors that will enable the
construction of shared meanings.
There are numerous definitions of culture but I will use the definition of the
interpretive approach and Clifford Geertz s, which defines culture as a meaning

However, many of the group based stereotypes are incorrect and generalizing and it
promotes further misunderstandings and prejudice. Prejudice is having a false
attitude toward an out group in comparison to one s in group. Prejudiced individuals
are prejudging without knowing any information about the Others (Rogers and
Steinfatt).
According to Allport, the process of categorization is the basis to develop
prejudice and stereotypes. People think in categories and the mind forms groups
and classes to guide our daily actions. Dahl also verifies that the predictions we
make about Others is based on stereotypes and that this is necessary and it is a
process that we cannot avoid. If categorization is a natural cognitive process and all
categorization leads to generalization, then stereotype is also a natural cognitive
process. Categories are necessary to give meaning to our reality and to create
structure, however they are flexible and they change. On the other hand
stereotypes seem to give us a feeling of order and security but they are inflexible
and try to reinforce one particular image over others. Stereotypes still persist even
when we know better because they help to create a positive self image and they are
to a large degree attached to ideologies (Christoffanini). Furthermore, we represent
Others by using language or images, which allow us to portray Others in ways
Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Theories
Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory places everyone into stages, from the days
where they still need diapers and bottles, to the days where they can barely

communicate, and trust. How easy we are influenced and how we feel internally is
what helps us understand how we are placed within these stages.

Than this of Juliet and her Romeo.
William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, 5.3
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic play about two star crossed lovers written by
Shakespeare in 1595. The play is a timeless teenage tradgedy. The play champions
the 16th Century belief that true love always strikes at first sight, (Lamb 1993:
Introduction) and even in modern times an audience still want to believe in such a
thing as love at first sight. Act II Scene II the balcony scene displays that romantic
notion perfectly.

Luhrman has based his version at Verona Beach; America and instead of basing it in
the 16th century like Zeffirelli, he had his film based in the 20th century, with
mansions, shiny cars and bright lights. While Zeffirelli paced his film in an Iambic
pentameter a traditional Shakespeare pace; Luhrman never kept his film at a solid
pace. By modernizing these aspects of the play, and reconstructing the prologue,
Luhrmann creates a movie that is more interesting to the modern viewers. ( Franco
Zeffirelli and Baz Luhrmann s Romeo and Juliet. 123HelpMe.com). As Zeffirelli
may have believed famous actors would steal his show he instead hired fresh new
faces to give the movie a more fresh, innocence value, But Luhrman used well
known actors to play the lead roles. This worked because more people were attracted
to the film by the actors.
Zeffirelli used symbols to help capture his audience. Some were subtle, others were
meant to get the audiences attention. For example Romeo climbing over the high
wall to reach Juliet s balcony was a subtle symbol showing the heights and
challenges he would face for true love, and even the fact the scene was set on a
balcony overlooking an orchid which was may have been meant to symbolise the
natural love or green being fresh and inexperienced. Some more prominent symbols
were used, such as Juliet s particular costume in this scene, a symbol
`` Fun Home `` By Alison Bechdel
Alison Bechdel s comic book Fun Home is narrated by none other than herself who
builds the narrative around her family and her life growing up. Then, years later,
her father dies in a car accident, and despite not knowing if it was really an accident
or a suicide, she occupies herself with finding a justification for his death. Now
imprisoned with the task she put herself to, the narrator blames her father s shame
and lack of happiness due to him being a homosexual, which she also discovered
herself being at the age of 19. The story touches on several themes including
happiness, identity and honesty. More specifically, Fun Home suggests that
happiness is unattainable if one conforms to society s norms by suppressing their true
identity. This is demonstrated through the comparison made with the character Jay
Gatsbyfrom The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgeraldand Bruce Bechdel, as well as the
narrator s depiction of herself.
Firstly, the comic draws a connection between Jay Gatsby and Bruce Bechdel to
show that they are both so occupied with maintaining a facade due to their lack of
self acceptance, they live a fictional life. When Jay Gatsby from F. Scott Fitzgerald
s The Great Gatsby is referenced by Bechdel, she explains: I employ these allusions
to James and Fitzgerald not only as descriptive devices, but because my parents are
most real to me in fictional terms. (27 panel 1). Bruce does not mention identifying
with the character but the parallels are
Future Nursing Shortage Essay
The waiting lists for nursing programs are very long. Sometimes students have to
wait 2 3years to start that program, on another hand nurses always complain they
are short stuff. According to Moore (2015), the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects
that 526,800 more nurses will be needed by 2022 an increase of 19.4 percent from
2012 to help keep up with patient growth and replace those who leave. One of the
reason for the future nursing shortageis that there are not enough faculty to teach
incoming nursing students. Either faculty are leaving due to retirement like their
counterparts in health care settings, they too are aging or they re gaining higher
salaries elsewhere in practice settings other than teaching. (Moore, 2015)

Diversity and Ecosystem Health: Protist Survival in Acidic Habitats
Abstract:
In this lab, we studied the health and response of a protist community in an
environmental change. The objective of this lab was to study and learn about how
variables, such as a more acidic environment, impact the community in a habitat.
Furthermore, it was also to learn about how diversity is quantified. To test this, we
added protist communities to habitats of different pH levels, from 7 to 4, and let
them live there for a week. We then studied the results and investigated which
protists lived better in which environments. We discovered that at a pH of 7, the
neutral pH of spring water, protists were able to live. As the pH was decreased,
however, protists began to die off and could not survive in such acidic conditions.
We also noticed that the lower the pH, the lower the diversity because fewer types
of protists could survive. We can use this information to see how acidic conditions
in nature such as those caused by acid rain can affect communities. We now know
that an acidic environment can be extremely harmful to a community and so we
should be more cautious of acid rain. If acidic conditions are bad for protists, it is
quite possible that they are unfavorable for humans as well.
Introduction:
In this lab, we examined protist survival in different communities. An biological
community is a community where two or more species coexist in
Arguments For Cloning Extinct Species
Introduction:
In 2003 the Pyrenean Ibex, an extinct subspecies, was successfully cloned and
brought back to life albeit only for a few minutes (Zimmer, 2015.) Thus bringing the
idea of cloning extinct species itself to life. Newton (2015) shows that in animals
cloning is achieved by transplanting the nucleus of one animal into an enucleated egg
cell of another. Cloning has become more precise and increasingly common in our
rapidly progressing society (Newton, 2015) however from this a debate as to
whether these technologies should be used to clone and bring back extinct animals
has arisen. A central reason as to why this causes such a large debate is due to the
apparent defiance of nature that is occurring (Zimmer, 2015.) There are many
arguments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Michael Archer believes that as a society we have a duty to animals that became
extinct due to direct human impacts (Zimmer 2013.)
When the extinct Pyrenean Ibex was successfully cloned the newborn kid died in
minutes due to lung deformities causing breathing issues (Gray Dobson 2009.) A
2013 study of cloned piglets led to the findings that of the piglets born 48 % died in
their first month and 29.5% of them exhibited malfunctions (Schmidt et al 2015.)
From this the issue of a cloned animal s welfare is raised showing that unless
technologies advance significantly there is a high risk of suffering and death for such
animals (Sherkow Greely 2013.)
Another ethically problematic area is that of money, by cloning extinct species
large profits may be made off of the animals, especially well known ones, from
things such as donations and private funding (Cottrell et al 2014.) This would allow
the animals to be treated well and for further cloning efforts. However this leads to
the issue of money being spent in the wrong places for the wrong reasons, where as it
could be better spent on conserving the many species at current risk of extinction
(Four reasons against de extinction

Good Charlotte Band
With many popular hit in the early 2000 s, Good Charlotte has made a name for
itself in the hearts of many teenagers of that era. With song that speak of the many
adolescent struggles of teen s day to day life, Good Charlotte made a deep
connection with their targeted teen audience. With songs like Lifestyle of The Rich
and The Famous, This band connects with the less economically sound demographic
and shares a familiar story of social and class issues. With their outreach to the less
fortunate and anarchy punk sound, Good Charlottecreates a sense of energy and
passion that cannot be found in a mere pop band. While Good Charlotte does
appeal to a large audience, to classify them as a pop band without following it by
punk would be an injustice to the band s music, lyrics, and overall message. A
group of high school friends created the punk rock band Good Charlotte in 1996.
Two twin brothers, Joel and Benji Madde, created the band after seeing a Beastie
Boysconcert in 1995. It was after this that the Madde boys started to work putting
together the band know as Good Charlotte. It was clear from the start that this band
would have a high energy sound that stemmed from Beastie Boys, but Good
Charlotte also added to this sound. With the integration of sarcasm and sometimes
silly lyrics, this band was on the way to being a pop punk band that was destine for
fame. Good Charlotte was well on its way to stardom with the Madde twins covering

The Righteous One Follows God, Not The Unrighteous ( Vv )
A.The righteous one follows God, not the unrighteous (vv. 1 2)
The psalm begins by declaring that the righteous one is ЧђЧ©ЧЁЧ™. The word is
usually translated blessed, or happy. It is distinct from Ч‘ЦёЧЁЧ•ЦјЧљЦ° (also
translated blessed ) in that the latter invokes the beneficent work of God on persons
and groups, while ЧђЧ©ЧЁЧ™ is a beatitude and points to and commends the
conduct and character that enjoys [God s blessing]. Neither word is perfect, because
ЧђЧ©ЧЁЧ™ describes both secular and spiritual happiness, and Brown suggests
truly happy as a translation that captures both.
This is followed by three parallel phrases describing how the righteous one is not like
the unrighteous. Each line contains a different verb describing what the righteous one
does not do, a different object noun describing an aspect of the unrighteous, and a
different genitive noun used to name the unrighteous.
The three verbs translated literally are walk, stand, and sit, and are three of the most
common verbs in the Hebrew language. All of these verbs can be used
metaphorically, as is the case here. These three verbs are all are in the perfect tense,
and VanGemeren comments that this indicates the godly are never involved with
anything tainted with evil.
I don t know if you can show that using the perfect tense means absolutes in this
instance. However, it s worth observing that these are the only indicatives that are
clearly in the perfect mood in the whole psalm. All of the other
Analysis Of Sandberg s Lean On Dig Deep
Sandberg s Lean In vs. Hook s Dig Deep are two articles that are similar, but they
have differences. Sandberg s main point is that women are over looked for
executive job positions, and there is extreme sexism in play, while most job fields
are ran by misogynists. She also feels as though women are looked at as second
class citizens, and are only worth to either stay at home and cook and clean. She
makes a great point by giving a personal example, when she stated that her
grandmother had to drop out of school to take care of her family. Hook s article is

Personally, I know several women that has a high moral, and are working for leader
positions in their field. There are more females that are nurses than males in
America. Statistically, that makes a great outlook on how well women are doing in
some areas. Sandberg also makes it known that gender stereotypes were reinforced
throughout her life and they became self fulfilling prophesies . I agree with
Sandberg fully because there are many people will say Women cannot drive or
Women are only good at being servants, which includes cooking, cleaning, and
other daily household chores . While that is not true at all, women are grouped by
a statistic. Simply because women are often skilled at cooking and cleaning, does
not mean that is their goal or what they aspire to become. There are a plethora of
women who will not cook, clean, or serve men, period. There has been women that
arose to great heights. They had to beat the odds, ignore statistics, and in some
cases fight their oppressors. I disagree that women should be looked upon as
second class citizens, I have known the women that I personally meet to be very
wise and educated. Then there is this ancient stereotype that a woman could not
make a reasonable decision, without their feelings altering their decision. That is
another thing some men truly believe, in which I feel is a very ignorant one. Not
every man will make a decision based upon the business aspect of it, sometimes a
man s feelings will get in
Respect Essay
I have been told that I need to write a 1000 word essay on disrespecting a Non
Commissioned Officer. But it is really hard to write about this because I am
having a hard time wondering how I disrespected them. So, where do I start on this
and what do I say about it. As far as this essay goes I am just going to write how I
feel about respect and how respect works both ways. It is wrong to disrespect a
Non Commissioned Officer because they are appointed above me to guide me to
the right place and things to do. But it is really hard to respect someone when they
do not respect you. Respect works both ways and if that person or leadership does
not respect you trying to respect them is difficult. No matter what is said it is

disrespect is if you just plainly say hell no or fuck off. I have never done that and
yet they automatically think that if you are asking them why you are told to do

to learn from them. If I remember correctly the Non Commissioned Officer Creed
states Competence is my watchword. My two basic responsibilities will always be
uppermost in my mind accomplishment of my mission and the welfare of my
soldiers. I will strive to remain tactically and technically proficient. I am aware of
my role as a Noncommissioned Officer. I will fulfill my responsibilities inherent in
that role. All soldiers are entitled to outstanding leadership; I will provide that
leadership. I know my soldiers and I will always place their needs above my own. I
will communicate consistently with my soldiers and never leave them
uninformed. I will be fair and impartial when recommending both rewards and
punishment. But it seems that only a few of the Non Commissioned Officers
respect the lower enlisted. Why should soldiers words get twisted and why is that
NCO s are not respecting the soldiers and their needs. We need to be respected that
is one of the many needs of the soldiers of today. That is why a lot of soldiers act
out against Non Commissioned Officers. Ok so disrespect is all on what that person

he speaks to Death . As he continues to write he, He will not be ruled by death, but

sleep. As he used logic, Donne is stating that since death is external, to be purely
asleep and sleep is a pleasurable thing, death must be even more pleasurable, which
contradicts. He compares death to rest and sleep. His claims are that rest, and
sleep are only pictures of death. His reason is because you re immobile and your
eyes are closed as you were dead. Rest and sleep, which by the pictures is plentiful

free will, and it is controlled or used by other things such as fate, chance, kings, and
desperate men. Death is controlled by events that end life such as; bad luck,
accidents, murder, wars, and sickness. The angel of death has no internal power
but external from God. Meanwhile death doesn t decide when people will die; he

Hands Down Something In Between Analysis
Hands down, Something in Between is the best YA contemporary book of the year.
If you re only familiar with Melissa de la Cruz s fantasy and paranormal books, I m
going to put a huge disclaimer: this is drastically different than her previous works.
It is her best yet. She came back to her original roots which is realistic fiction ala
chick lit where the stakes are higher.
Something in Between follows the story of Jasmine de los Santos, a smart high
school student who s eligible to apply to prestigious universities. After receiving an
invitation to meet the President of the United States, she discovers her family is
undocumented Filipino immigrants. This shattered her chance for a scholarship, and

Criticism
The republicans are portrayed too good for my liking. They generally dismissed and
alienate marginalized groups, it doesn t set down well with me.
I m quite disappointed with some of the ableist language being passed as a pun.
There are handful of scenes where Jasmine s family members invalidate Royce s
biracial background. The story is supposed to be inclusive, let s thrive for that.
Something in Between would appeal to a chockfull of readers. I simply love that this
book combines everything I love in contemporary YA, there s romance, strong
political ambiance, racial inclusion, tight knit family and friendship. I couldn t ask
anything better. Highly recommended to contemporary fans that dig Morgan Matson,
and Jenny
Harvey Velocity Theory
Shortly after the Mets 4 2 victory over the Marlins on Wednesday afternoon, the
Mets quietly announced that RHP Matt Harvey was being sent to the 15 day
disabled list for discomfort in his right shoulder. This roster move followed weeks
of struggles on the mound for Harvey, who has thus far pitched to career worst
marks in ERA and K/9 marks, en route to a 4 10 record on the season. While he s
still actually pitching respectably (by FIP, Harvey s been keeping pace with Zach
Greinke, Jordan Zimmerman, and David Price), this is not the season we ve come to
expect from the Dark Knight. So what has been tormenting the pride of Gotham?

But no pitcher will ever go up on the mound without any defense behind them
(unless you re Satchel Paige), because most pitchers won t be striking out everyone
they face (and by most, I mean all). Inevitably, some batter will make contact and
put the ball in place, at which point, getting the batter out becomes the responsibility
of the defense. Typically, some balls will fall in for hits, but most won t. The
percentage of the balls put in play that become hits is measured using BABIP, or
Batting Averageon Balls In Play (it s also pretty fun to say). BABIP can be used to
measure how good the defense is behind a pitcher, in addition to how unlucky or
lucky they are. Comparing their current season figure season to their career number
can let you know if a pitcher is over or under performing. For instance, Jon Lester
of the Cubs has been pitching this season with a .265 BABIP, which is significantly
less than his career number of .299 this indicates that he s been the beneficiary of
good defense and good luck while on the mound.
So what does this have to do with Harvey? Everything. On the season, Harvey is
pitching to the tune of an incredible .353 BABIP more than 60 points worse than his
career average. His .353 figure is the second worst in the MLB only Robbie Ray is
pitching with a worse BABIP, .364 (and Ray s career BABIP is .339, so the

Film Analysis Of The Movie The Bride Of Frankenstein
Making a good movie is easy but making a great movie is hard. As I watched a
short clip from the movie The Bride of Frankenstein I watched how the acting,
plot, lighting, camera work, and script all made this film come to life. This movie
was made in 1935 yet it is still so compelling to watch because it is successful with
the important components of a movie. The first thing I noticed about the short clip
was the lighting. As a photographer lighting is the most important thing about
pictures and films. I realized that the whole movie was very dark for the most part.
As I watched the short clip I saw harsh shadows on the background or on their faces
which gave a mysterious feeling. As a viewer it came off creepy, and kept thinking
was something about to pop out? The lighting was great when Pretorius says to Dr.
FrankensteinYou are responsible for all the murders, there is a dark shadow on Dr.
Frankenstein. As for Pretorius it seems like he has a halo of light around him. I have
a feeling that the lightening in this conversation was intentional. Dr. Frankenstein is
looked down, dark, and evil because he murdered people. While in this same
conversation it seems like Pretorius is the good guy in this situation even though they
both do not seem very good. All in all, the lighting was very intentional. If they put
soft/ airy lighting in this film, I do not think the message would come across and it
would not be as interesting than it was. Acting and script go hand on hand
Soy Sauces In East Asian And Southeast Asian Cultures
Soy sauce is widely used as an important flavouring and has been integrated into the
traditional cuisines of many East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures. Despite their
rather similar appearance, soy sauces made in different cultures and regions are
different in taste, consistency, fragrance and saltiness.
Soy sauce is a salty, brown liquid made from fermented soy beans mixed with some
type of roasted grain such as wheat, barley and rice, injected with a special yeast
mold, Aspergillus oryzae and liberally flavoured with salt. The sauce s consistency
can range from very thin to very thick. Flavours too, vary by type and have very
subtle differences. There are many types of soy sauce, all are salty and earthy tasting

Dark or old Chinese soy sauce is a dark, thick soy sauce, aged longer and added with
molasses to give it its distinctive look. This variety is mainly used as a table top
seasoning, but is also used in cooking. It has a richer flavour than light soy sauce, but
is less salty.
Chinese soy sauce is made with a lower proportion of wheat than the lighter
Japanese soy sauce. Besides, Japanese style soy sauces tend to be clearer and
thinner than Chinese soy sauces. Light soy sauce from Japan has a thinner
consistency and a saltier flavour than the darker varieties. It is preferred when a
darker sauce will ruin the appearance of a dish, or when a lighter flavour is sought,
especially when serving seafood.
Tamari is a deeply coloured Japanese soy sauce which has a rich texture and intense
flavour. It contains little or no wheat. Wheat free tamari can be used by people with
gluten intolerance. It is the original Japanese soy sauce, as its recipe is closest to
the soy sauce originally introduced to Japan from China. With a higher soybean

Trying to work and help pay for funeral expenses, because my grandmother let the
insurance lapse, was extremely difficult. I couldn t take summer courses like I had
planned. I was sure to use my grandfather as my motivation for the semester of Fall
2016, but everything hit me at once. Trying to be a big girl and stay busy, I ended
up suffering from ER visits panic attacks. I was given strong medication that kept me
sedated. I was so determined, but I was rushing things to stay focused on school and
ending up not doing so well.
Everyone deserves a second chance. If I could rewind back time I would do
everything completely different. We all know death of a person so close to you
can leave an effect on people. I know I have opportunities to make my grandfather
proud, because knowing that he is at peace allows me to continue to be my
strongest in all that I do. These burdens have revealed so much maturity in myself
along with decisions. I am not perfect, nor does my last few bad semesters indicate
that I am a failure. I feel as if my anxiety is at rest which shows major progress
allowing myself to focus and live my life. I m willing to cut my hours even more
or quit my job to make sure I am guaranteed focus and study time. Work and school
are battles upon each other, but you must choose what will benefit the most. There
are times I feel as if I still must remain the strongest for my family, but I am learning
how to cope with things on a different level

A Linguistic Term For Indo European And Indian History
ARYANS
Aryan is a linguistic term for Indo European (Robert Westad 2014a). The Aryans
brought to India no culture so advanced as that of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a).
When the Aryans appear writing disappeared and does not come back until the
middle of the first millennium BCE. Cities were reinvented by the Aryans, which
lack the elaboration and order of the gridded pattern of Harappans (Robert Westad
2014a). When the Aryans migrated into the Indus Valley they brought with them a
culture that was very different from any other region (Breyer 2004). The invaders had
two contributions to Indian history; it s formal history and its social institutions
(Robert Westad 2014a). One of the biggest social institutions that the Aryans brought
to India was the unique social structure; in their system every class had a duty to
their society (Breyer 2004). Originally there were only three main classes or Varnas,
but this changed to fit the civilisation in which they controlled (Breyer 2004). As
religion and rituals were a major part of Indian life, it was only fitting that the
priests and scholars were the highest class (Beyer 2004). They were called the
Brahmans (Breyer 2004). Under the Brahmans were the ruling class or the
Kshatriyas; this also included nobles and warriors (Breyer 2004). The third class
was made up of the commoners they were called the Vaisyas. It was the fourth class
that the servants and peasants made up, called Sudras. It was later on where another
Communication Styles in Negotiation
Communication Styles in Negotiation
Introduction
Communication styles in negotiation are probably one of the most important skills or
characteristics one will develop over a lifetime. From the point a human being begins
to develop cognitive skills, the process of learning and understanding situations
become more apparent. One will learn from a very young age the dynamics and
characteristics of communication and its role in negotiation. To better understand the
communication process, one must be able to recognize how they communicate,
whether it is on an assertive, aggressive, passive, or passive aggressive level of
communication. The manner in which one conveys his/her message is critical, and
the many methods in which they do it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Negotiation fifth edition, threats are defined by five linguistic dimensions:
polarizing, immediacy, intensity, lexical diversity, and high power language style.
Polarizing language is the choice of words when describing ones position to make
it appear positive and the use of negative words when describing an opponent s
side. Verbal immediacy is the measurement given through vocabulary that lets the
recipient of the message know the level of urgency affiliated with the message.
Immediacy can be either high or low depending on whether one wants to engage or
distance oneself from the other party. Language intensity identifies how strong one
feels about the situation through use of vocabulary. Possible results of language
intensity are either high or low depending on the level of feelings one wants to
portray to the opposing party. Lexical diversity is the degree of vocabulary that
one uses. Holding a rich vocabulary gives the impression of competence, while
possessing a low level of lexical diversity gives the impression of inexperience.
Last, the extent of a high powered language style means the manner in which one
uses language as the means of being effective. Using a low power language style is
identified by politeness and hesitations; while using a high power language style is
recognized by verbal dominance and clarity. Therefore
The Mongol Empire And The Empire
I was watching my cousin play Fallout Shelter, and he said that the things that are
needed for a safe and long lasting shelter is charisma, agility, strength, and
perception. These four words best describe an innovative kingdom, and the kingdom
that best fit all these words was the Mongol Empire, the mightiest and biggest
Empire in the world. Mongols were nomads from north of the Gobi Desert. They
were first ruled by Genghis Khan, which means Universal Ruler . Temuchin, which
is Genghis birth name, lived a rough early life. His father was poisoned by an
enemy. When older, he decided to unite all the Mongol clans under one empire,
making him one of the most powerful people of all time (BK Essay). The Mongol
empire lasted for only 40 years, 1260 1300 A.D (Doc 1). Since then and before
then, there hasn t been an empire so big, with so many advances. Even though there
were many destructions throughout the process of the making of the Mongol
Empire, they should be remembered as an innovative empire because it was the
biggest empire in the world and still managed to be prosperous, it was tolerant
towards all races/religions and people and knew how to protect it, and last, but not
least, it made it s own government and its own way of governing it.
Four Khanates, the Silk Road, bodies of water, mountains, and many more. What is
not there? The Mongols had access to everything. Although, people believe they were
destructive demons because they the death of 30 million people,

Callahan Auto Parts Rhetorical Analysis
Memo Analysis of Rhetorical Situation
When analyzing the rhetorical situation of the Callahan Auto Parts memo there are
six elements of the situation to be discussed: topic, purpose, speaker, audience,
context, and culture. The topic of this memo is informing the employees of the
upcoming retirement of the CEO/founder. The purpose is to inform the staff kindly
about the upcoming change to head off any hesitation from the staff about Tommy
Boy taking over and ensure a smooth transition occurs. The speaker is the founder and
long time CEO of the auto parts store. The audience is the staff and employees of the
store, after they read the memo the goal is that they feel a little bit more at ease
and less hesitant going into the change. They should also know how to handle the
change over and what will partake while it occurs. The context of the memo is that
me the founder is leaving and someone else is taking over that has less experience.
I know before writing the memo the employees are probably going to be hesitant
about the change because of Tommy Boy s lack of experience. The culture of the
group is that they are a close community that feels comfortable with what is going on
now.
Letter Analysis of Rhetorical Situation When analyzing the rhetorical situation of the
Callahan Auto Parts letter there are six elements of the situation to be discussed:
topic, purpose, speaker, audience, context, and culture. The topic of the letter is to
notify clients about my upcoming retirement and solicit business from them. The
purpose is to inform the clients of Callahan Auto Parts about my upcoming
retirement and that my son, Tommy Boy, will be taking over. I also need to ensure
them about the change and the good fit my son will be. Lastly I need to have them
commit to purchasing brake pads for he next two years, exclusively. The speaker of
this letter is me the founder of the company. The audience is the clients of the store,
after they read the letter the goal is that they understand the change over should be
smooth and that the company will not change. To do this for the audience I need to
inform them of what is going to happen and as its happening that nothing is going to
be changing other then the CEO. I also
The American Architectural Firm Skidmore
Introduction Formed in 1936, the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings
and Merrill (SOM) is one of the most successful and innovate firms to focus on
high end commercial building and lead the paradigm of the use of the modern
international, or glass box style of skyscraper. Since its inception, the firm has
designed and built several of the world s largest buildings including the John
Hancock Center (1969), the Sears Tower (1973) and the Burj Khalifa(2010), currently
the world s tallest building. The company has diversified and evolved and now offers
services in Architecture, Building Services, Graphics, Digital and Interior Design,
Structural and Civil Engineering, and most recently, Sustainable Design and Urban
Planning (Adams). For many, in fact, SOM s postwar buildings are the essential
building blocks to understand the modern movement in the United States.
Biography SOM was founded by Louis Skidmore (1897 1962), Nathaniel Owings
(1903 1984), and John Merrill (1896 1975). Merrill was the structural engineer of the
group, while Skidmore was the architect, and Owings the visionary. Owings was
known as the catalyst, the person in the firm who ironed out differences among
clients, contractors and the planning commission (Barron). The strength of the three
was that they had the vision to move beyond the standards of their time, to imagine a
way to bring beauty and structural integrity to the needs of the modern urban
environment, and to understand how to

Training Shedd Frasier offers the bare minimum of training for their legal

informal and mostly hands on. However, there are so many functions to learn

always available to answer many of my questions. Timeslips offers helpful

  • 1. Essay About Usa Crafting an essay on the subject of the United States of America is akin to navigating a vast and intricate labyrinth of historical, cultural, political, and socio-economic complexities. The sheer breadth and depth of material to cover can be overwhelming, requiring a meticulous approach to research and analysis. To encapsulate the essence of a nation as diverse and multifaceted as the USA within the confines of an essay presents a formidable challenge. One must grapple with centuries of rich history, from the founding fathers and the birth of democracy to pivotal moments like the Civil War, the civil rights movement, and contemporary challenges. Furthermore, delving into the intricacies of American society necessitates an understanding of its cultural tapestry, ranging from literature, art, and music to the nuances of regional identities and the ever-evolving concept of the American Dream. On the political front, dissecting the complex system of governance, the role of institutions, and the dynamics of partisan politics demands a nuanced perspective and a keen eye for detail. Moreover, addressing the socio-economic landscape entails grappling with issues of inequality, immigration, healthcare, education, and the enduring debate surrounding the role of government in shaping the nation's trajectory. In essence, composing an essay on the USA requires more than just assembling facts and figures; it demands a deep appreciation for the complexities that define this nation and a critical examination of its past, present, and future trajectory. There are two types of springboards used in vaulting the traditional springboard and the air board. Based on research the hypothesis states that if a gymnast jumps on an air board then the heightoff the board will be higher than if jumping on a traditional springboard. To begin with, the vault has been in the Olympics for men since 1896 and for women since 1952. The vault requires a gymnast to run down a runway, jump on a springboard, and flip over the vault table. Before the gymnast jumps on the springboard the board and springs have potential energy. When the gymnast jumps on the springboard it turns into kinetic energy and causes the board to push the gymnast up. The larger number of springs in the air board have more potential energy which leads to the hypothesis that it will provide the greatest

At the same time, New France was rapidly expanded into areas of land stretching down South towards Louisiana. As Settlements began to prosper, Great Britain viewed this growth as a threat to their position in North American trade, which was the linchpin to war with New France. Through years of industrious and unwearying battle, The French fought unwaveringly to defend their colony. Unfortunately, they fell short and lost every installment, one by one. France also deemed it vital to protect their colonies in the West Indies because they thought that sugar cane was more of a lucrative business than the fur trade in New France. The war between colonies were heavily dependent upon supplies and reinforcements sent by the mother countries. This was clearly evident because Britain was dedicated to a full forced takeover versus Britain that sent only what they could spare. The British had a fleet of ships in their Royal Navy that was a key cog in taking over New France. The British used these ships to capture French ships sent from France with supplies from entering port. As a result, Louisbourg was the first domino to fall. In 1758, Louisbourg witnessed this massive fleet of ships enter the bay and initiate an all out assault on the fortress. Soldiers under the command of General Amherst and James Wolfe proceeded with the attack but took heavy artillery fire upon their arrival at shore. They had no choice but to move further upstream, regroup and try a different approach. To their surprise, Wolfe and his soldiers landed in an area where they were able to unload with ease. The tables had turned; Louisbourg was now under constantly bombardment. As the fortress started to crumble under fire, French warships were able to escape the harbor (Dale 46). Both team s first four people to take the penalties scored, but young Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up for the fifth. The model constructed relies on own survey data and some statistical data from national and regional surveys. This data was used in parameterization and calibration activities. In the survey, heaping, a typical error in agricultural data, was presented (Beegle et al. 2012). Heaping is a special case of data coarsening where respondents round quantitative information (e.g. around one hectare may in reality be either 1.2 or 0.8 hectare). This could have an influence on the estimates of production functions, as happened with Schreinemachers (2006). Another problem was the farmers use local reference units and we lack conversion tables for those units. For instance, outputs of some crops such as plantain, cassava or fruits were reported in bunch or bags without specifying their weights in kg. In order to overcome this later problem, a conversion table was built during interviews, through asking members of the community with more education and also key experts. Information about fertilizer and pesticides was recorded by plot and not by crop, a problem mentioned in section 6.2.2.1.1. Externalities. In the study, carbon sequestration was the only positive externality accounted, but there are other ecosystem services that forest projects could enhance such as biodiversity, soil erosion control, and water regulation, among others. Incorporating these direct and indirect values into the analysis will provide a better picture for land use

  • 15. The Theme Of Plot In Sweat By Zora Hurston In her short story Sweat , Zora Hurston uses plot to expose the theme that what goes around comes around. Plot is an author s careful arrangement of incidents in a narrative in order to achieve a desired effect. In Hurston s case, the desired effect is shaping the theme of the story. Throughout Sweat , all of the events are carefully thought out in order to show the reader that Sykes got what he deserved, therefore creating the theme what goes around comes around. The main highlighted events in this plotare the verbal conflict that Delia and Sykes have, the town scene where Sykes is being discussed by local townspeople, Sykes bringing home a rattlesnake, and Sykes getting bit by the snake. The first major incident in the plot of Sweat is a verbal conflict between Delia and Sykes in the beginning. It starts with Delia being scared with a bullwhip by Sykes. She reacts in fear, saying, Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You know it would skeer me... (Hurston). Delia and Sykes go back and forth about how scared Delia is scared of snakes, and how Sykes purposely wants to scare her. Delia, however, stays calm until she seizes a skillet and strikes a defensive pose. Sykes is shocked, so he just leaves the house, slamming the gate after him (Hurston). At this point in the story, the reader gets a good idea of the relationship between Delia and Sykes. The reader knows Delia and Sykes are opposites, Sykes badness outlines the good, hardworking side of Delia. This first scene serves as rising action to get to know the life of Delia and Sykes. The theme is not yet clear, because the plot is only beginning. However, Delia foreshadows Sykes fate at the end of this part of Hurston s story. Delia thinks out loud before sleep when she says, Oh well, whatever goes over the Devil s back, is got to come under his belly. Sometime or ruther, Sykes, like everybody else, is gointer reap his sowing (Hurston). The next scene of this story is the conversation the townspeople have. Prejudice is having a false attitude toward an out group in comparison to one s in group. According to Allport, the process of categorization is the basis to develop prejudice and stereotypes. People think in categories and the mind forms groups and classes to guide our daily actions. Dahl also verifies that the predictions we make about Others is based on stereotypes and that this is necessary and it is a process that we cannot avoid. If categorization is a natural cognitive process and all categorization leads to generalization, then stereotype is also a natural cognitive process. Categories are necessary to give meaning to our reality and to create structure, however they are flexible and they change. On the other hand stereotypes seem to give us a feeling of order and security but they are inflexible and try to reinforce one particular image over others. Stereotypes still persist even when we know better because they help to create a positive self image and they are to a large degree attached to ideologies (Christoffanini). This is demonstrated through the comparison made with the character Jay Gatsbyfrom The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgeraldand Bruce Bechdel, as well as the narrator s depiction of herself. Firstly, the comic draws a connection between Jay Gatsby and Bruce Bechdel to show that they are both so occupied with maintaining a facade due to their lack of self acceptance, they live a fictional life. When Jay Gatsby from F. Scott Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby is referenced by Bechdel, she explains: I employ these allusions to James and Fitzgerald not only as descriptive devices, but because my parents are most real to me in fictional terms. • 20. Future Nursing Shortage Essay The waiting lists for nursing programs are very long. Sometimes students have to wait 2 3years to start that program, on another hand nurses always complain they are short stuff. According to Moore (2015), the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that 526,800 more nurses will be needed by 2022 an increase of 19.4 percent from 2012 to help keep up with patient growth and replace those who leave. One of the reason for the future nursing shortageis that there are not enough faculty to teach incoming nursing students. Either faculty are leaving due to retirement like their counterparts in health care settings, they too are aging or they re gaining higher salaries elsewhere in practice settings other than teaching. • 22. Environmental Diversity Lab Olek Peraire Lab Report E4 Emily Speranza 11/23/14 Diversity and Ecosystem Health: Protist Survival in Acidic Habitats Abstract: In this lab, we studied the health and response of a protist community in an environmental change. The objective of this lab was to study and learn about how variables, such as a more acidic environment, impact the community in a habitat. Furthermore, it was also to learn about how diversity is quantified. To test this, we added protist communities to habitats of different pH levels, from 7 to 4, and let them live there for a week. We then studied the results and investigated which protists lived better in which environments. We discovered that at a pH of 7, the neutral pH of spring water, protists were able to live. As the pH was decreased, however, protists began to die off and could not survive in such acidic conditions. We also noticed that the lower the pH, the lower the diversity because fewer types of protists could survive. We can use this information to see how acidic conditions in nature such as those caused by acid rain can affect communities. We now know that an acidic environment can be extremely harmful to a community and so we should be more cautious of acid rain. If acidic conditions are bad for protists, it is quite possible that they are unfavorable for humans as well. Introduction: In this lab, we examined protist survival in different communities. An biological community is a community where two or more species coexist in

Arguments For Cloning Extinct Species Introduction: In 2003 the Pyrenean Ibex, an extinct subspecies, was successfully cloned and brought back to life albeit only for a few minutes (Zimmer, 2015.) Thus bringing the idea of cloning extinct species itself to life. Newton (2015) shows that in animals cloning is achieved by transplanting the nucleus of one animal into an enucleated egg cell of another. Cloning has become more precise and increasingly common in our rapidly progressing society (Newton, 2015) however from this a debate as to whether these technologies should be used to clone and bring back extinct animals has arisen. A central reason as to why this causes such a large debate is due to the apparent defiance of nature that is occurring (Zimmer, 2015.) There are many arguments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michael Archer believes that as a society we have a duty to animals that became extinct due to direct human impacts (Zimmer 2013.) When the extinct Pyrenean Ibex was successfully cloned the newborn kid died in minutes due to lung deformities causing breathing issues (Gray Dobson 2009.) A 2013 study of cloned piglets led to the findings that of the piglets born 48 % died in their first month and 29.5% of them exhibited malfunctions (Schmidt et al 2015.) From this the issue of a cloned animal s welfare is raised showing that unless technologies advance significantly there is a high risk of suffering and death for such animals (Sherkow Greely 2013.) Another ethically problematic area is that of money, by cloning extinct species large profits may be made off of the animals, especially well known ones, from things such as donations and private funding (Cottrell et al 2014.) This would allow the animals to be treated well and for further cloning efforts. However this leads to the issue of money being spent in the wrong places for the wrong reasons, where as it could be better spent on conserving the many species at current risk of extinction (Four reasons against de extinction

The word is usually translated blessed, or happy. It is distinct from Ч‘ЦёЧЁЧ•ЦјЧљЦ° (also translated blessed ) in that the latter invokes the beneficent work of God on persons and groups, while ЧђЧ©ЧЁЧ™ is a beatitude and points to and commends the conduct and character that enjoys [God s blessing]. Neither word is perfect, because ЧђЧ©ЧЁЧ™ describes both secular and spiritual happiness, and Brown suggests truly happy as a translation that captures both. This is followed by three parallel phrases describing how the righteous one is not like the unrighteous. Each line contains a different verb describing what the righteous one does not do, a different object noun describing an aspect of the unrighteous, and a different genitive noun used to name the unrighteous. The three verbs translated literally are walk, stand, and sit, and are three of the most common verbs in the Hebrew language. All of these verbs can be used metaphorically, as is the case here. These three verbs are all are in the perfect tense, and VanGemeren comments that this indicates the godly are never involved with anything tainted with evil. I don t know if you can show that using the perfect tense means absolutes in this instance. However, it s worth observing that these are the only indicatives that are clearly in the perfect mood in the whole psalm. All of the other

There are more females that are nurses than males in America. Statistically, that makes a great outlook on how well women are doing in some areas. Sandberg also makes it known that gender stereotypes were reinforced throughout her life and they became self fulfilling prophesies . I agree with Sandberg fully because there are many people will say Women cannot drive or Women are only good at being servants, which includes cooking, cleaning, and other daily household chores . While that is not true at all, women are grouped by a statistic. Simply because women are often skilled at cooking and cleaning, does not mean that is their goal or what they aspire to become. There are a plethora of women who will not cook, clean, or serve men, period. There has been women that arose to great heights. They had to beat the odds, ignore statistics, and in some cases fight their oppressors. I disagree that women should be looked upon as second class citizens, I have known the women that I personally meet to be very wise and educated. Then there is this ancient stereotype that a woman could not make a reasonable decision, without their feelings altering their decision. That is another thing some men truly believe, in which I feel is a very ignorant one. Not every man will make a decision based upon the business aspect of it, sometimes a man s feelings will get in

It is wrong to disrespect a Non Commissioned Officer because they are appointed above me to guide me to the right place and things to do. Inevitably, some batter will make contact and put the ball in place, at which point, getting the batter out becomes the responsibility of the defense. Typically, some balls will fall in for hits, but most won t. The percentage of the balls put in play that become hits is measured using BABIP, or Batting Averageon Balls In Play (it s also pretty fun to say). BABIP can be used to measure how good the defense is behind a pitcher, in addition to how unlucky or lucky they are. Comparing their current season figure season to their career number can let you know if a pitcher is over or under performing. For instance, Jon Lester of the Cubs has been pitching this season with a .265 BABIP, which is significantly less than his career number of .299 this indicates that he s been the beneficiary of good defense and good luck while on the mound. This movie was made in 1935 yet it is still so compelling to watch because it is successful with the important components of a movie. The first thing I noticed about the short clip was the lighting. As a photographer lighting is the most important thing about pictures and films. I realized that the whole movie was very dark for the most part. As I watched the short clip I saw harsh shadows on the background or on their faces which gave a mysterious feeling. As a viewer it came off creepy, and kept thinking was something about to pop out? The lighting was great when Pretorius says to Dr. FrankensteinYou are responsible for all the murders, there is a dark shadow on Dr. Frankenstein. Dr. Frankenstein is looked down, dark, and evil because he murdered people. While in this same conversation it seems like Pretorius is the good guy in this situation even though they both do not seem very good. All in all, the lighting was very intentional. If they put soft/ airy lighting in this film, I do not think the message would come across and it would not be as interesting than it was. Acting and script go hand on hand

The Aryans brought to India no culture so advanced as that of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans appear writing disappeared and does not come back until the middle of the first millennium BCE. Cities were reinvented by the Aryans, which lack the elaboration and order of the gridded pattern of Harappans (Robert Westad 2014a). When the Aryans migrated into the Indus Valley they brought with them a culture that was very different from any other region (Breyer 2004). The invaders had two contributions to Indian history; it s formal history and its social institutions (Robert Westad 2014a). One of the biggest social institutions that the Aryans brought to India was the unique social structure; in their system every class had a duty to their society (Breyer 2004). Originally there were only three main classes or Varnas, but this changed to fit the civilisation in which they controlled (Breyer 2004). As religion and rituals were a major part of Indian life, it was only fitting that the priests and scholars were the highest class (Beyer 2004). They were called the Brahmans (Breyer 2004). Under the Brahmans were the ruling class or the Kshatriyas; this also included nobles and warriors (Breyer 2004). The third class was made up of the commoners they were called the Vaisyas. It was the fourth class that the servants and peasants made up, called Sudras. It was later on where another
