In-Game Making College Essay
Creating something from nothing has always been a joy of mine, and nothing seemed to embody
that notion more than creating a game through programming. Of course, I know that creating
something from nothing is a fictional term but when you decide to immerse yourself in a
programming scheme, bridging the gap between software and hardware, something truly magical
happens. All that is needed is a single idea, no matter how absurd it is and a text editor. Once you
have that, devote yourself to it for a few hours or days and you can create your own working world
called a program.
In game making, the whole world revolves around the programmer. The programmer is the one
who takes the unrealistic expectations of everybody else and finds a way to make ... Show more

from everywhere and everyone but most surprisingly his own team has attacked him as well by
benching him. though Kaepernick continues to protest he is sacrificing his job.Through both the
media storm of his protest and potentially declining skills, there were enough reasons for the
49ers to cut Kaepernick. They decided to stick with him (Davis). Kaepernick s bold decision to

Steroid Use Of Sports On Sports
Joe Butts Mrs. Gallos English 3H 2 May 2016 Steroid use in Sports Steroid use in sports has
became a large factor of impact in the sports world today. Everyone has their own opinion on it.
They either enjoy watching athletes be ridiculously good at their sport, and they find it
entertaining, or they like to see athletes play by the rules. Steroid use is a big part of most sports,
mostly baseball. Most records held by the greatest of baseball players used steroids. Steroid
usage has many negative effects. Even a few that can be life threatening. Some people think that
making it legal in sports will make more people want to watch and more money will come to the
sport. There are many different opinions for this substance, and not all of them are agreeable
either. Taking drugs to get an advantage in a sport has increased in teens through the years. This
is very dangerous for those teens who take them because the effects that follow, especially when
someone takes them at such a young age. White and blue collar workers, females and, most
alarmingly, adolescents take steroids all linked by the desire to hopefully look, perform and feel
better, regardless of the dangers (Walder) . Steroid use in women has also increased. It causes
women to have deeper voices and lose breast development. The only reason someone would think
of a woman taking steroids, other than sports, would be if they lifted a lot of weights as a
bodybuilder. Men and young adolescent boys who take steroids

CSS NORTHERN HOSPITAL, TECHNICIAN ROSTER
RUSSELL STEWART, WILLIAM ZHI, BRENDAN ROSS
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
The Northern Hospital has commissioned analysis work to be performed on its current and future
resource requirements. The Radiology Department requires an optimised four week roster for their
CT scanner technicians. In particular, this study presents optimised rosters with minimal
technicians and minimal total hours worked.
The devised roster should satisfy the following requirements:
пѓ The rosters cover 6am to 10pm of each day
пѓ The shifts must be at least 4 hours and at most 8 hours
пѓ There must be at least a 12 hour break between shifts
пѓ In any week, no technician can work more than two shifts that finish after 6pm
пѓ In any week, no technician can work on both days in the weekend
This study also investigates whether improvements can be made by lengthening shift durations to
between 6 and 9 hours.
DATA HANDLING
CT scanner allocations were retrieved from the Scanner Allocation Report . The scanner allocations
from 2015 to 2025 are shown below:

Reexamining Crisis Management Philosophy
Personal Experience with Organizational Crises
In this paper, I present two riveting case scenarios containing the unadulterated recollection of my
direct personal experiences in crisis management. Both cases provide authoritative details of life
threatening events and the quick response by key individuals with direct corporate responsibility
for managing the pre crisis, in crisis and post crisis events. Crisis management is a highly complex
field. Therefore, a plausible approach to managing crises would require simplifying the functional
relationship of key variables. The main advantage to derive from a better understanding of the
correlation among key variables would be increased individual and institutional knowledge. I also

And, crisis management is the process of determining and influencing crisis points in a positive
direction. The opposite would be termed crisis mismanagement .
The traditional view of a crisis is that it is a turning point. The term was originally used in the
field of medicine (disease control). Therefore, it is a borrowed term with its genesis in the early
15th century, from a Latinized form of Greek krisis turning point in a disease (Online Etymology
Dictionary, n.d.). If a crisis cannot be defined in time (World Health Organization, n.d.) , then it is
an event or a point in time of 0 days duration. A milestone is defined as a significant event of no
duration (Project Management Institute, 2012). Therefore, a crisis and a milestone share similar
properties with respect to their time dimension.
The key difference between an emergency and a disaster lies in the resourcefulness of the
organization or state and the need for external intervention. Since, a crisis moment is difficult to
identify by focusing on the occurrence of the point in time; we should then divert our attention to
significant shifts in resource needs as a basis for determining crisis points.

Burn Injury Research Papers
Problem Description Burn injuries are a commonly seen in the United States. The most common
mechanism of injury is a fire or flame, followed by scald, contact, electrical, and chemical burns.
The majority of burns occur at a home or residence (ABA, 2017). Primary care providers should be
informed of the most current evidence based practice guidelines when caring for burnwounds. For
decades, the first line treatment of partial thickness burn wounds has been and continues to be,
silver sulfadiazine (SSD) cream (Zacharevskij et al, 2017).
After a burn injury occurs, the body commonly generates eschar which is necrotic tissue and dried
secretions from the wound. SSD cream helps to soften and remove eschar with mechanical
debridement during dressing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Burn wounds are extremely painful, and for many patients dressing changes are excruciating
every time they are performed (Edwards, 2011). Patients not only experience the background
pain that is constant from a burn wound, but also the procedural pain that is accompanied by
dressing changes. Burn patients also endure anticipatory pain which is the worsening in pain due
to the expectation of pain that is to come from dressing changes (Edwards, 2011). If dressings
can be reduced from twice daily to every three to five days, the amount of pain reduction for these
patients would be astronomical. Even if the hydrocolloid dressing could not last three days due to
exudate, reducing dressing changes from twice daily to daily is still beneficial to the

I Had Pity For Both Morgan And Kiki During This Period
My Commentary: I had pity for both Morgan and Kiki during this period. Morgan was making
strides, and the chain of events that led to him losing Kiki and his life wouldn t have happened
if it weren t for Ava stealing his meds. It was heartbreaking to hear how confused and
disenchanted he was in his recovery journals (11/4), trying to do everything by the book and still
failing. I had my first real occurrences of compassion for Kiki, who expressed to both Franco (10
/3) and Dillon (10/7) that she was losing sight of herself by constantly being on emotional
eggshells with Morgan, tending to his needs while ignoring her own. I was impressed that the

Nonetheless, excellent performances ensued, naturally (shout out to Dominic Zamprogna,
A.K.A. Dante). My personal favorites were from West and Wright. Ava s tortured breakdown on
10/11 after hearing Morgan died was the stuff of soap dreams and West s innate passion was the
perfect ingredient for it. Mascara covered tears fell down her face, as guilt ridden flashes of her
removing the pills seesawed with memories of their tawdry love affair, causing her to
obliviously drop her martini glass. She sobs while picking up the shards, realizing she s
involved in killing the only man she s loved since being in PC. Overtaken, she flings the pieces
and screams, What have I done?!! She bumps into Bobbie the next day, who asks if she ever
truly loved Morgan. Ava replies Yeah, I loved him...very much. There was a time when he was
the only one who saw good in me at all. Now I suppose anyone who ever did (veiled reference to
Nikolas?) is gone, and dashes off to crumble on the elevator. Carly s bouts of rage were
everything (I can t come up with a suitable adjective, so we ll go with everything ). On 10/12,
Sonny got it about Julian s hit. Before smashing a childhood photo of Morgan, she fumed, ...A
bomb blew him up. You couldn t help yourself could you? You had to be the one to finish Julian.

This was called the Mercator Projection. The equation for figuring this out was y=r In(tan(a

What Thomas Harriot discovered meant that the Earth was not a perfect circle because if it was
then the latitude lines would not have had any space when laid flat. This isn t something he
realized and wasn t confirmed till many years later. The Earth is actually a oblate spheroid
which means it has a little bit of a oval shape if you were to travel in its orbit. In 1611 Johannes
Kepler suggested the Kepler conjecture, named after the 17th century mathematician and
astronomer Johannes Kepler, is a mathematical theorem about sphere packaging in three
dimensional Euclidean space. It says that no arrangement of equally sized spheres filling space
has a greater average density than that of the cubic close packing (face centered cubic) and
hexagonal close packing arrangements. The density of these arrangements is around 74.5%. In
January 2003, Thomas Hales from the University of Michigan announced the start of a

Characters In Life Of Pi
The novel Life of Pi illustrates the life of a character named Pi during his 227 days lost at sea.
There is a strong connection between the author Yann Martel and the characters and setting in the
story Life of Pi. Martel s time spent in India was the major influence for this book as many of the
characters and story are influenced by his experiences in India. The animals in the book, which
play a major part in the story, are influenced primarily from Martel s visit to the Trivandrum Zoo,
which contains all the animals in the story except the orangutan. Religionalso plays a major role in
the story, which is influenced from Martel s visit to India as he learned about the religious culture
of India. Although Martel did not directly experience the events that occurred in Life of Pi, his time
spent in India helped to influence his work. Yann Martels visit to the Trivandrum Zoo helped to
largely inspire the characters in his novel Life of Pi. Even Luke Harding agrees that the:
Trivandrum Zoo one of India s oldest provided much of the inspiration behind Yann Martel s
extraordinary novel Life of Pi, which won the Booker prizelast week (Harding). Some of the
most important characters in Life of Pi come in the form of animals, and all of these animals can
be found in this zoo except for the orangutan. Martel s visit to the Trivandrum Zoo helped to give
character to the animals as it helped to give Martel a perspective on the animals behavior,

When America entered into World War II, several major league baseball executives started a
new professional league with women players. They created a new league in order to maintain
baseball in the public eye while the majority of men were away. The All American Girls
Professional Baseball League was founded by Philip K. Wrigley which existed from 1943 to
1954. During the league s history, over 600 women played ball. AAGPBL players were recruited
from all over the country and Canada through the Cubs scouting network (Fidler, 2006). Players

The female apologetic suggests that female athletic involvement is tolerable as long as
traditional notions of femininity are present (Pierman, 2005; Roth Basow,2004). The AAGPBL
had to present femininity to the public by wearing feminine uniforms, having charm, and code
of conduct. The overall look of the uniform was intended to remind fans that they were not only
watching real baseball, but real girls (Draeger, 1997). Players were issued an 11 page Guide for
All American Girls: How to Look Better, Feel Better, Be More Popular along with a beauty kit
(Charm School). They were given instructions in putting on makeup, how to get in and out of a
car gracefully, how to speak correctly, and how to make proper conversations in social settings
(Fincher, 1989). Clothing guidelines were issued, as well as a 10 step suggested beauty routine for
after the games. Many females were denied from being able to join the AAGPBL if they looked
masculine. Back then, being labeled masculine as a female meant they did not meet the
expectations of beauty. This raised the question of, whether or not the exclusion of the masculine
looking athletes compromised the power statistics of the league. The answer to this question still
remains unknown because it is controversial. Joining the All American Girls Professional Baseball
League brought a new opportunity for females. Many females were filling in masculine jobs

Hemingway s Iceberg Theory Analysis
Hemingway s writing technique is an interesting way of writing. His Iceberg Theory is
influential to writers today. His theory is composed up of 10% conscious mind and 90% of only
subconscious mind. He was an authentic writer. His writing is relatable and believable because
of the silences he would use and short sentences. Hemingway s writing was is close to everyday
encounters and situations. He is widely known for his writing and stories. He gave a new flavor
to writing and touched people s hearts in a personal way. Because of his special writing, his
structured way of writing will live out for generations to come.
You can identify Hemingway s Iceberg Theory in The Doctorand the Doctor s Wife. The book
starts off with conflict. There is tension between him and Dick Boulton, his son Eddy, and a
Billy Tabeshaw. They see logs at a lake, logs like these typically never are claimed and left there
to rot. The doctor saw these logs and took upon himself to to collect the logs for use, since they
might not ever be claimed by anyone. The doctor hired the Indians to come and gather up the logs.
The Indian men that the Doctor has hired sees the wood and assumes that the doctor had stolen
the wood. Dick confronts the doctor about the wood. Dick even looks to see where the logs came
from. He accuses him of stealing the wood by the lake. When Dick does this, the doctor is instantly
offended and mad. The doctor is infurious and demands the men to leave at one instance. The

The Power Of Change In Blood Wedding By Federico Lorca
Blood Wedding was written during a time of civil and political turmoil in Spain. Federico Lorca,
the author of Blood Wedding, was one of many individuals divided over whether the people should
have the oppression of the traditional ruling government or to have a new individually based era
reign over Spain. Being a homosexual male inside such difficult times, Lorca was in favor for
change. He wrote this play using a real life event that he read in the newspaper about a bride that
ran away with the son of an enemy family. The events he read and the events in the play are a time
capsule of the emotions distributed by both those for and those against change in Spain. Lorca s use

In Act Two when Mother states: As bull s go, my son will be a good worker. (39). She is
personifying the need of war. The Spanish government remained willing to fight for what the
predecessors of Spain created which is the same as Groom willing to work hard to please Bride s

(39) . Groom, the embodiment of the traditional Republican government, was deeply affected by
the death of his father and brother, however this represents the weakening of the Spanish
government due to the civil disputes within it. The use of bulls and blood are used to symbolize
war. The Fascist leaders of Italy aided in the Spanish Civil War, they urged the Republican
Government to wage war to prevent further uprisings by the Rebels, which were the individuals
fighting for freedom ( The Spanish Civil War ). Groom and Mother s relationship is used by
Lorca to portray how he views the traditional Spanish government and how it is being influenced
by Fascist thought through a concept similar to a parent and their child. The ideas of Individual
freedom are personified through Leonardo and the Horse. The horse symbolizes freedom and
independence and is always used to represent Leonardo, making him the embodiment of the
Rebels and their ideas of freedom for all social structures. ( Horse ) A prime example is from Act

Ipcc Status Report on Climate Change Summary Essay
IPCC Status Report on Climate Change Summary
Abstract
The following is a summary of the IPCC Status Report on Climate Change. The following questions
will be answered: is climate change occurring? About which aspects of climate change are we
certain? Uncertain? What are the main factors determining climate change today? What is the
likelihood that humans have caused these changes and what data supports this conclusion? And
finally, what information is not yet available or are we unable to access at this time that may have
bearing on the report and our understanding of climate change?

The main factors in this climate change are observed to be the increase in temperatures and the
resulting acidification of the oceans. The previously mentioned changes and others in the report
are readily observable, such as the uptake of anthropogenic carbon since 1750 that has led to the
ocean becoming more acidic, with an average decrease in pH of 0.1 units and in some instances
blatantly obvious, even to the average layperson. It is difficult to conclude what the rate of change
in the future will be and the effects of observed ocean acidification on the marine biosphere.
The report concludes, again with high confidence , that anthropogenic (human caused) warming has
had a discernible influence on many of our planets physical and biological systems. While there are
limitations and gaps in the knowledge available, particularly from undeveloped countries, the
knowledge available allowed the group to attribute most of the observed increase in the globally
averaged temperature since the mid 20th century to the observed increase in anthropogenic
greenhouse gas concentrations. The analysis was necessarily limited in the number of systems and
locations considered. In addition, natural temperature variability is larger at the regional than at the
global scale, thus affecting identification of changes due to external forcing and at the regional
scale other factors such as land use change and pollution, are an environmental

Home Office s Annual Staff Survey
Introduction
This report is conducted to analyze data of latest Home Office s annual staff survey and define
the key areas of concern and success. The staff survey was taken this year and cover overall level
of satisfaction and engagement among employees. The report will be presented at the next meeting
of the Home Office s senior management board scheduled on 14th of December 2014.
Overview of overall level of engagement
The degree of engagement among staff of UK Home Office is close to 50%. It remains in the
same position as in the previous year. However, the difference even between benchmark according
to Civil Service survey is 9% not in a favor of the Home Office, the difference with top quarter of
survey is 13%. According to Table... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instant, the team and fair treatment have approximately no influence on the overall engagement
level. Although, even work and line management has performed higher than 60% that is a point of
congratulation in comparison with other drivers, the strongest one, leadership and managing
change, is remaining in the same position. In order to compare the strength of different drivers,
there is 73% of the staff that satisfied with their team and only 30% positive answer with
leadership style in the organization. By the fact, that leadership has the strongest impact of the
engagement level, the changes in it would be crucial for it, unlike the job satisfaction with the
team. For the all three key drivers of engagement, leadership, work and line management, Home
Office still stay below the benchmark that estimated by CS2012 by 11%, 9% and 5% respectively.
Leadership and managing change
There are 18% of respondents considers that all of the changes in the organization are making
their work better. It is disappointing, but the score is lower from previous year for 1% and for
7% lower than average level among other civil departments. From the point of view of 31% of
staff, Home Office has clear understanding of future goal. It is good to know that this number
increased form previous year for 2%, however it is still under the benchmark by 9%. The feeling,

Similarities Between Anne Bradstreet And Phillis Wheatley
Floriberto Solorzano
Ms. Shorey
ENG: 2130
3 September 2016Anne Bradstreet Compared work with Phillis Wheatley Anne Bradstreet,
Daughter of the one governor and first published poet in America, was classified as a classic
religious poet and also was also considered a very modern poet who really focused on her everyday
life and all of her daily activates. Phillis Wheatley, enslaved at the age of 6, and became the first
black women poet in America wote mostly classical poetry and had many Christian views. Her
poetry used pyscholical meaning and also used poetic devices. Although both poets were to very
respected poets of there time both are also very different compared to their work. Phillis Wheatley s
poetry was more in depth, thoughtful, and had somewhat more stylish than the work of Anne s
Bradstreet s. Anne s Bradstreet s greatest influence on her writings was religion. As a child she was
brought up as puritan therefore she has puritan beliefs that was showed in her poems. However,
In some of her writings it seems she was struggled with her belief in God. Just like Phillis
Wheatley, Anne Bradstreet used a literal device called inversions and also used many religious
references. In Anne s Bradstreet s poem Here Follow Some Verses upon the Burning of out
House, July 10TH, 1666 Anne Says It was His Own, it was not mine, Far be it that I should

Us Lobbying Reform
Since the creation of the United States government, political lobbying has played a large role in
influencing the creation and modification of laws. The act of lobbying is to solicit or try to
influence the votes of members of a legislative body (Dictionary.com). There has always been
controversy surrounding the political lobbyingsystem, due to the potential of corruption through
bribery. Two important pieces of legislation became laws as a result of this controversy. The
Federal Regulation of Lobbying Act of 1946 and the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 were created
to prevent potential abuse within the political lobbying system.
The purpose of lobbying is to communicate to public officials the special interests of specific
groups. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The controversy surrounding political lobbying does not question the act of influencing public
officials, but rather the ethics relating to how these public officials are influenced. It is
important to distinguish the fine line between bribery and lobbying. It is illegal to bribe a
public official in the United States. This would mean that an individual could not provide
compensation to a public official for them to behave, or vote, in a specific manner. Lobbyists
may donate money to a specific candidate s political campaign, but they may only do so when
there is no expectation that the public official will behave in a favorable way toward the
lobbyist or their clients (Mackinder). Lobbyists may bring public officials, their immediate
families, and staff on trips or out to dinner. While it is illegal for a lobbyist representing a
corporate client from directly bringing, it is not illegal for foreign governments to sponsor for
these said trips (Goldmacher). What has begun to happen is lobbyists representing corporate
clients may bring public officials on these trips, if the trip is sponsored by a foreign government.
The Senate Office of Public Records reported that $3.23 billion was spent on lobbying in 2013,
with 12,300 registered lobbyists. Professor James Thurber, who teaches at American University,
has studied congressional lobbying for over 30 years, and does not believe these figures are
accurate. He believes

Classroom Management Theory Essay
Students enter the classroom with differing personalities and levels of learning. Hence, it is
important that pre service teachers are equipped with knowledge and understanding of the different
theories of classroom management. Theories such as Goal Centered Theory [GCT], Cognitive
Behavioural Theory [CBT] and Assertive Discipline Theory[AD] facilitate supportive learning
environments to offer students superlative conditions to succeed at school. Research recommends
the adoption of a single approach to inform and guide a pre service teachers classroom management
style; however, a teacher s beliefs, attitudes and values help inform the best approach, whether that

24). To implement GCT effectively, teachers must be able to distinguish a student s individual
motivation to misbehave and negotiate alternative solutions to prevent their misbehaviour
(Dempsey Arthur Kelly, 2007, p.122: Lyons et al., p. 24). For example, by using preventative
strategies such as engaging in whole class discussions, explicit instructions, modelled consistency
and offering choice with rules, consequence and academic tasks, students may be able to recognise
their personal intentions and maintain suitable behaviours (Lyons et al., p. 24).
GCT has many strengths, for instance, it provides teachers with an effective framework to
distinguish their students motivation to misbehave. Furthermore, it helps students to recognise and
adapt their own misbehaviour that may arise from failure to meet social needs. GCT encourages
constructive classroom environments, where students are intrinsically motivated and actively
involved in their learning, thus they demonstrate accountability for their own academic
achievement whilst considering the needs of others. However, critics of GCT believe that not
every student has the need to be socially accepted and other reasons such as an inability to
recognise motives or hidden motives may be responsible for their misbehaviour (Lyons et al.,
2014, p. 24). Moreover, teachers who have limited

Attacks on the most vulnerable targets were chosen: the destruction of oil, transportation, the air
craft industries were regarded as the most crucial targets, but in what order they were attacked
was decided upon operational experience of the commander. The destruction caused by these
strategic bombings placed a ceiling on Germany s war production. The frequent attacks on the
aircraft factories caused significant interruption to the flow of things being manufactured for the
war. In effort to reduce the chance of factories being bombed, larger factories were dispersed into
smaller units, and in doing so these elaborate dispersals caused additional acute problems in the

Hills Like White Elephant Conflict Analysis
In Ernest Hemingway s Hills like White Elephants the conflict in is undoubtedly present and
ostentatious, both internal and external. There were immeasurable sums of identifications of
multiple accounts of conflict within the story. One of the external conflict being (man vs. man)
related to the clash between the American man and Jig, his girlfriend and their struggle with
impounding decisions, their inability to compromise so both are happy, and their lack of
understanding. Their initial first words not only disclose strain between these two but also
proposed that there are perhaps ultimate differences between them. The girl is fascinated about the

The Cultural Differences Of Chinese Culture And American...
As a Chinese international student studies in America, I have experienced two different cultures,
and I have seen Chinese practicing Chinese cultures in America, and it makes Americans think that
Chinese are straight and do not understand their behaviors. This leads to questions of what the
cultural barrier can cause and how the cultural barrier affects life of people who have different
different cultural backgrounds? In Gary Althen s article American Values and Assumptions, Althen
pargues each group has its own culture, and he points out different American cultural values.
Another article by written by Yaping Tang, Polite but Thirsty, Tang is a Chinese international
student who comes to study in America, and he discusses the difference between Chinese cultures
and American cultures by discussing different behavior practices. Every culture is unique;
however, having many different cultural diversity in today s society may cause cultural conflict
within community since other people may have different viewpoints on your cultural practice
and they may misunderstand your behavior. Therefore, it is important for people to understand
and respect other cultural practice, and it is a good idea to adapt and learn other cultural values
when people are in a new place. Overall, culture value is a collection of value that is practiced by
a group of people in a country, and every group has its own cultural value to practice. Although it

Technology plays a major role within our society and world wide. In order to prepare our students
for the 21st century learning environment, the school district will ensure student success by leading
to higher education, work, and life long learning, embedding an equitable and accessible 21st
century learning environment along with supporting students with emerging technologies through
the curriculum. This learning environment will include available and current technologies,
information resources, and training to help ensure innovative teaching and learning in the
classroom. Our district s entire educational community will collaboratively work to provide this
digitally rich environment in order to equip our students to become independent, life long learners
who are prepared to meet the challenges ahead.
Rationale
The current state of Shadow Rock Elementary is one that is evolving technologically. The school
has received 6 Chromebooks carts that are available for students and teachers to use. Shadow
Rock also has 4 IPad carts along with 3 ThinkPad carts; however, with the school s technology
resources we have neglected because the lack of professional development to insure effective use
of these technologies. National Institute for Professional Practice (2014) states, schools should

Preventing a Life of Regret The ruckus of the crowd pierced the fallen players ears in the form
of a serrated knife. Feeling the blood pulsing through his head caused him to clench his eyes
shut in agony and grab at his hair, hoping to block out the unbearable waves of pain. The blurry
forms of his coach and teammates surrounded his vision and as much as he wanted to get up and
tell them that he was fine, he knew that there was no way that he would be able to recover from
this injury easily. He had known that something was wrong with him, but he had pushed these
thoughts out of his mind, knowing that he could not disappoint his fellow teammates. They had
helped him in too many ways and ignoring the clear symptoms of a concussion seemed like the
best way to repay them. Now, he knew he was wrong, but it was too late. He was going to pay

caused by a hit or blow to the head and is a risk that all people who play sports have to face,
especially people who choose to play football, a sport that requires courage, strength, and stamina.
It is also a sport where choosing to stay in a game, when a player is clearly injured with a
concussion, can determine how the player may live the rest of his life. Although with teens, the risk
of getting a concussion has deadlier consequences and can jeopardize their future in more ways

Anabolic Steroids Are Known As Anabolic Androgenic Steroids
Anabolic Steroids are known as anabolic androgenic steroids. A drug that is structured to relate to
the cyclic steroid ring system. Anabolic steroids can many similar effects to testosterone in the
body. What anabolic steroids do is increase the protein in the cells. The increase in these cells most
happens in the skeletal muscles. Anabolic steroids can also have Androgenic and virilizing
properties, that includes the development and the maintenance of masculine characteristics. With
that, exactly what are the effects of anabolic steroids to the body visually and in health as well
mentally? With anabolic steroids, they can cause many affects with a human s health. For example
the heart, liver, Growth defects, Feminization, and the kidney. With the ways anabolic steroids
affects the heart is how it can have alterations in the structure of the heart. Like enlargement and
thickening of the left ventricle, this impairs its contractions and the relaxation. Other possible
effects of these alterations in the heart that can happen are hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias,
congestive failure with the heart, heart attacks, and sudden cardiac death. With the sudden cardiac
attacks, anabolic steroids are typically the leading the cause, what researchers say. Other problems
with steroids and the heart are how anabolic steroids can lead to the increase in cholesterol levels.

Displacement Reactions And The Single Displacement Reaction
Introduction
There are two types of displacement reactions : One type is called the single displacement reaction,
the other is called the double displacement reaction. During a single displacement reaction, an
element substitutes another element in a compound, creating a new element and a new compound
as products. In most single displacement reactions, either a metal replaces another metal, or a non
metal replaces another non metal. The more reactive element takes the place of the less reactive
element in the compound, otherwise the reaction will not occur. The general chemical equations of
single displacement can be: A (metal) + BC в†’ AC + B,
A (non metal) + BC в†’ BA + C. Double displacement reaction is a chemical reaction
, where the
positive ions of two different chemical compounds exchange and produce two new compounds.
The products may contain a precipitate. The general chemical equation of double displacement is:
AB+ CD в†’ AD + CB
The purpose of the lab is to observe the reactants and the products of three chemical reactions and
determine which type of reaction occurs in each chemical reaction.
The solubility tables can be used to help better determine the reaction types. The solubility tables
refer to the solubility of ionic compounds in water. By using the solubility tables, we can know
whether a compound is soluble or insoluble.

Diazepam (Valium) was developed by Leo Sternbach in early 1960s and approved for use in 1963.
Since 1969 Valium was the most sold pharmasutical drug in the United States . In therapeutic doses
diazepam has a much stronger sedative effect compared to barbiturates.
Death rarely results from diazepam overdose. Diazepam pharmacologic classificaition is
benzodiazepine and therapeutic classification is as an anti anxiety agent, anticonvulsant, sedative
/ hypnotic and skeletal muscle relaxant. You can use Diazepam for Anxiety Disorders and other
issues. It can be used in the treatment of status epilepticus and for uncontrolled seizures as well as a
skeletal muscle relaxant. It can also be used to treat acute myocardial infarction with associated
anxiety and insomnia. Diazepam suppresses the central nervous system by binding to the GABA
receptor chloride channels in the CNS. It inhibits spinal polysynaptic afferent pathways which
causes relaxation in skeletal muscles. Due to enhanced presynaptic inhibition it has anticonvulsant

The Problem Analysis Of Acetone And Chloroform
1.Problem statement
Acetone and chloroform are two molecules which have an attraction for each other and form a
maximum boiling azeotrope. Their boiling points (acetone = 329.4 K and chloroform = 334.3 K)
are very close, however, they have considerably different molecular weights (acetone = 58.08 kg

Dependent variables, which are obtained from the solution of the model equations after decision
variables are set by the decision maker (i.e., optimizer).
The number of decision variables determines the degree of the freedom of a model. The degrees of
the freedom of the extractive distillation plant which has two distillation units can be divided into
two categories: design and operating degrees of freedom.
The analysis of the operating degrees of freedom of the model of a simple distillation column

such as reflux ratio, distillate flow rate, components recovery, condenser/reboiler temperature and
condenser/reboiler heat duty should be specified to set the degrees of the freedom to zero (Hanson

Despite the fact that considering reflux ratio and distillate flow rate is a common choice as the

Implementation Of A Non Breakable Encryption Algorithm
There has been a need for a non breakable encryption algorithm desired after since the establishment
of Cryptography was first matured. However, an algorithm is advised to be immune as long as there
has not been found susceptibility through cryptanalysis. Symmetric key block ciphers abide as the
largest and critical aspect in many cryptographic systems. Independently, they add confidentiality.
As a central construction block, their adaptability grants the manufacturing of pseudorandom
stream ciphers, number generators, hash functions, and MAC s. Moreover they serve as an
essential component in message verification methods, symmetric keysignature schemes, entity
confirmation protocols, and data purity. Although Block ciphers are very powerful objects their
design flaws and complex interface opens the door for wider attacks.
No block cipher is equipped for all functions, even one contributing an immense state of asylum.
This is a result of impending accommodations needed in practical applications, containing those
arising from, for example, rate requirements and memory limitations such as data size, cache, code
size, and memory, forces imposed by implementation platforms such as (e.g., software, hardware,
chipcards), and distinct resistance of applications to properties of differing modes of operation. In
addition, efficiency ought typically to be traded off against security. Hence it is helpful to have a
number of contender ciphers from which to draw.

The Scaffold Scenes in Nathaniel HawthroneВґs The Scarlet...
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is known as a psychological novel regarding humanity,
sin, guilt, and a fair amount of other ambiguous concepts. One of those is the significance of the
three scaffold scenes throughout the work. The scaffold scenes signify religious and moral ideas,
such as sinfulness, the spiritual figures the characters each portray, and the character development
achieved by public and private absolution. The first scaffold scene begins the novel. In chapters two
through three, the protagonist Hester Prynnestands on the scaffold, bearing a scarlet A and a child
at her breast as signs of her adultery. She is interrogated and lectured by the Puritan ministers of
the town, including Arthur Dimmesdale, who is later discovered to have been Hester s partner in
crime and the father of Hester s baby Pearl. The first scaffold scene hosts also the initial
appearance of Hester s speculated dead husband, Roger Chillingworth, amidst the crowd of
townspeople watching his wife s public humiliation. Had there been a Papist among the crowd of
Puritans, he might have seen in this beautiful woman [Hester], so picturesque in her attire and
mien, and with the infant at her bosom, an object to remind him of the image of Divine Maternity...
(Hawthorne, ch.2, В¶17). The depiction of Hester as the Virgin Mary connotes a sympathetic tone
of the author towards her character. The sin Hester committed is to be with her for the rest of her

A Good Strategy Drives Business
A good strategy drives business. In some previous definition, the role of a strategist has been
relevant to outsourced specialists and analytic number crunchers. Hence, the main responsibility
of a leader is more likely to be a theory and principle, wh0ich is devised by MBAs and
consultants. In the book The Strategist, the author Cynthia Montgomery plainly redefines strategy
and teaching the leaders about being an effective strategist in an organization. Moreover, she also
points out that the procedure of being a strategist or a leader rather than merely building a new set

This is because they think that these elaborative procedures can guide the companies to implement
better performance. On the other hand, Montgomery demonstrates that an effective strategy should
continuously modify and maintain rather than finishing in once. Put simply, the strategy needs to
appropriate follow and adjust present company s condition and the change of external environment.
Furthermore, the strategy, as a heart and inspiration in a company, should be constantly upgraded,
and the leaders have to recognize the intimate relevance between strategy and leadership. In the
book, the author also redefines that a good strategy is never frozen and should be implemented over
time. Accordingly, leaders play an important role in investigating suitable strategies for their
companies, and just like Montgomery mentions in the book that leader is the one who must
shepherd this ongoing process, must stand watch, identify and weigh, decide and move, time and
time again (Cynthia Montgomery, 2012). As a result, rather than using consultants to describe the
strategies, a leader must be placed in a strategist position in order to bring the companies and
organizations to achieve its long term business success. To emphasize the significance of business
strategy, Montgomery uses Masco as a representative example to verify her standpoint. The

only insoluble solids can form precipitates.

Human s Obsession with the Pretty One
Chasing Beauty
Sitting in a bar a few nights ago I noticed two women sitting at a table by themselves. It wasn t
long till a group of four guys asked to join them. As the men pulled up chairs they concentrated
heavily to one side of the table. It didn t take long to figure out they were all pining after the more
attractive of the two women. Why does the pretty woman get all the attention and free drinks, and
her homely friend blends into the wallpaper? We all know attractive people get treated better. It s
so ingrained in human evolution to chase after attractive qualities, and it shapes our every day lives.
Advertising is a good example of our affinity for beauty. Magazines, television, billboards, and
Internet pop up ads use attractive people to sell products. We end up chasing products that we
believe will make us healthier, better looking, or covers our physical flaws. They get beautiful
models and actresses to make consumers think the product is what makes the models and actresses
attractive. This tactic is so effective because it plays on our desire to be attractive. The more
attractive we are the better sexual mates we can attract. Martial arts expert Chuck Norris endorses a
home workout product called the Total Gym. We see Chuck Norris using the product in the
commercials, yet it had nothing to do with the level of fitness he achieved. It doesn t matter
though. We see the extremely fit man using a product so we think if we use it as well we to can be

Discussions Developing countries present a serious problem in terms of asbestos related diseases.
Do to low or non existent occupational health standards; many people may be unknowingly
exposed to asbestos. Developing countries usually have low awareness of occupational hazards,
such as asbestos. This low awareness is not only by the workers, but also by their managers, the
government, and health care professionals.2 Many people are inadequately trained in how to
properly handle asbestosas well as lacking the basic equipment and proper facilities.2 Many
developing countries also lack proper governmental infrastructure in making policies and
developing preventative methods.2 High unemployment rates causes individuals to work at any type

Tushar Kant Joshi who is Director of the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health in
New Delhi, expressed his concern about India s asbestos consumption by saying, Human
biology is the same everywhere; if asbestos of all kinds including chrysotile/white asbestos is a
carcinogen in over 30 countries how can it not be hazardous in India . . . How can we allow
asbestos to cause havoc while waiting another 30 40 years for an Indian study to conclude that
asbestos is a carcinogen.12 It is believe that over 1 million people living in India are being
occupationally exposed to asbestos.12 This does not even include the millions that live near the
factories where asbestos is used. Studies by the National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH),
which is an autonomous government scientific body based in Ahmedabad, India, have found lung
impairments and radiological abnormalities in 54.8% of asbestos milling workers and 19.5% in
asbestos miners.12 Like the U.S, India does have restrictions on asbestos ambient air dust levels
which are set to 2 f/cc per 30 minutes, however it has been found that these limits are not practiced
and on average milling factories were found to have more than 33 times the legal limit of asbestos
present.12 While there are restrictions in

Native American Boarding Schools
The Native Americans also lost their old cultures throughout time. In 1860, Americans created the
first boarding school for Indians. The government forced many families to put their kids into the
school. At the school it was mandatory to learn english, American ways of living, religious training
for Christianity, change names to American names, and wear proper clothing. Americans thought if
they were taught the religious beliefs of Americans everyday, they would soon believe in
Christianity and forget about their old culture. Their end goal was to completely demolish the Indian
culture. One boarding schoolthen turned to sixty schools for 6,200 Indian students all learning the
same things. In order to change the kids from Indian to American,

The American lung association estimated if the cost of one pack cost $5.5 then the cost of
production for that pack would be $18. Cleary the tobacco industry does not do any good to the
economy, it only taking over 3 times the amount from the economy. Although some states have
been trying to cover health expenses by rising taxes to pay for healthcare however it will never be
high enough to cover them. In addition to this, the use of tobaccodecrease workers productivity. For
instance, a smoker would be absent from work and still getting paid and their absences usually last

The Out Of Body Experiences
Out of Body Experiences Out of Body Research Foundation noted Stephanie C Experiences on
April 25/2016 I remember drowning somehow (I think by a lake or river or something) and
eventually knowing I had passed. All of a sudden I felt an out of body experience and like I was
being lifted up through a vortex. A very intense vortex, it felt like I was going at least 100 mph.
The scenery looked like bright light and like I was passing through a bunch of stars. The vortex
eventually stopped however, and then my out of body experience occurred (OBERF, 2016). .
Out of body experiences are a process that focuses on the feeling of floating outside one s body,
and some cases, the feeling of perceiving one s physical body as if from a place outside one s
body (Brugger Mohr, 2009, p. 137). Out of body experiences may refer to astral projections or
near death experiences. Astral projections refer to a person s conscious detachment from one s
physical body that can travel or exist outside of the body, these individual who experience such
phenomena often are aware of their surroundings and can hear what is being said around them
(Slick, n.d.). In turn, near death experience refers to the possibility of detachment from one s body,
a feeling of levitation, total serenity, security, warmth and absolute dissolution and the presence of
light; usually associated with death (McRae, 2014). These are indexes for the paranormal. Out of
body experiences could happen to anyone, but many skeptics

Broca s Hemorrhage Analysis
The haemorrhage occurred in the frontal lobe of the brain; the area closest to and impacted by
the haemorrhage is the Broca s area. The Broca s area is considered the motor speech area, which
enables the body to coordinate muscles involved in speech production (Marieb, 2013). Damage to
the Broca s area may result in symptoms that impact the ability to communicate; damage to the area
doesn t affect the ability to decipher language, but presents difficulty for communicating, as it
impacts the ability to speak, type and use sign language (Marieb, 2013). The symptoms experienced
by damaging the Broca s area reflect the symptoms experienced by John; Judy described John as

The peripheral motor division and the central nervous system are involved in voluntary movement.
The motor division of the peripheral nervous system that allows us to move our body, the somatic
nervous system is the division of the motor division that enables voluntary movement. The somatic
nervous system conducts voluntary movements by distributing impulses to skeletal muscle from
the central nervous system, allowing the conscious control of skeletal muscle through somatic
motor pathways. The information required to control skeletal muscle is generated in the brain by
the primary motor cortex, but the specific origin is dependent on the location of the skeletal
muscle, the pathway used is efferent and involves two motor neurons; the upper motor neuron exits
the brain and is projected down the spinal cord in the descending white matter tract, then the cell
body of the lower motor neuron and the axon synapse. The lower motor neuron transmits the
information to the skeletal muscle from the spinal cord; the axon exits the ventral root and
terminates at the effector. The primary motor cortex contains the cell bodies of the upper motor
neuron, while the motor nuclei of the ventral grey horn contains the cell bodies of the lower motor
neuron. Motor neuron disease is a neuron degenerative

The Effect Of Temperature On Our Cognition
Introduction
When a person describes someone, as being warm one understands it as a person who is friendly
and not as someone who is physically warm. Using temperature as a way to describe a person has
been understood as a metaphor, however studies have revealed that there is a connection between
the association of warmth and feelings of social belonging (Ijzerman et al., 2012).
The belief that our physical world has an influence on our cognition is called the embodiment
theory (Chen, Poon Dewell, 2014). In this theory it is believed that our surroundings shape of
psychological feelings (Chen et al., 2014). Hence, why we use temperature as a way to expressing
feelings. The following studies have conducted different types of ... Show more content on

Participants were divided into two different groups and would have two different food drink

The participants believed that they were playing with two other players online, however the game
was programmed with no real players. One group was only passed the ball twice in 30 throws
while the other group received the ball frequently. Finally, the participants were handed a survey
that measured which foods they desired more and it was found that the socially excluded group
desired warm food (Zhong Leonardelli, 2008).
The following study read these results and hypothesized that perhaps a person feeling a room to be

procedure as the ball tossing game Zhong and Leonardelli (2008) presented, however the
participants temperature would be recorded this time. For this experiment 41 participants were
recruited from VU University. The participants were also divided into two groups where one would
be thrown the ball only twice and the other an evenly distributed amount of times. A device that was
located on their index finger measured all participants temperature continuously, which along the
way revealed that the participants body temperature went down in the exclusion group (Ijzerman et
al., 2012).

The Pros And Cons Of Belgian Federalism
Dr. Wilfried Swenden, a professor at Edinborough University in his research paper called Belgian
Federalism: Basic Institutional Features and Potential as a Model for the European Union , argues
that there are positive as well as negative aspects as Belgium as a federal state. The good things
about it is that it managed to lower the amount of tension between the different language speaking
groups. He supports it by stating that the amount of demonstrations has gone down since
federalization of the country and that that can be linked to the success of the government. One of
the critiques that is often raised that it is very costly. Certainly, the process itself costs money,
however, it could lower the expenses by stopping some of the costly proto federal practices aimed
at concealing disputes between the two Communitiesin a unitary context (Swenden, 2003). He also
argues that the state of public finance is better nowadays than in was before the reforms. One of his
strongest arguments is that people have actually started identifying more with Belgiumthan before
when they allowed to identify with their region too. Swenden calls it the Moreno question the share
of citizens who have been willing to shift their identity to the Belgian end of the continuum has
increased, rather than decreased over time (Swenden, 2003).
However, there are some disadvantages. Like that Belgium while having three regions and
communities is actually bipolar in character. The German speaking

Margaret Mead Warfare
In Margaret Mead s Warfare: An Invention Not a Biological Necessity we see her ideas
surrounding the relationship between biological and cultural influences on an aspect of life and
society. Mead s ideas play off of some of the thoughts mentioned in Ruth Benedict s The Individual
and the Pattern of Culture. Benedict mentions how there ...is always a give and take, (114) that
is between culture and the individual. Which can be related to Mead s mention of how war or
fighting is dependant on a culture s need for that kind of outlet. Because Mead was a student of
Benedict s when she was a professor at Columbia University(112) it becomes evident how some of
the similarities in their ideas had developed.
Although Mead s essay is quite specific to the concept of warfare, it is possible to dissect the
essay and find the underlying ideas she has regarding culture. Mead states that A people can use
only the forms it has, (503) meaning that a group or individual only uses the ideas or ways of life
that have been shown or passed down to them, that they wouldn t use a concept that they had not
learned. This idea helps to explain why what one culture deems as normal, another one doesn t

pattern of vendetta will indulge in vendetta...peoples who do not know of dueling will not fight

The Future Effect Of The Election Of Prime Minister Justin...
This political study will define the future effect of the election of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in
terms of the Canadian foreign policy in the restructuring of military intervention in foreign affairs
and the pro trade globalization mandates of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP). Trudeau s election
defines the overriding political agenda of the Liberal Party of Canadato stop ineffective bombing
missions in Syria and Iraq, yet to maintain special forces troops to better manage the war against
ISIS. More so, Trudeau supports the globalizationof Canadian trade by promoting the positive
effects of the TPP to promote international growth in trade. These aspects of the new Liberal
government are vital aspects of as greater focus on improved economic security and a declining
approach to pro American bombing campaigns as a form of military interventionism in foreign
affairs. In essence, a political analysis of the future effects of the Liberal Party of Canada under PM
Trudeau will define the restructuring of military intervention in Iraq and Syria and the increased
focus on international tradeunder the guidelines of the TPP in foreign policy. The election of
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of the Liberal Party of Canada on October 14th, 2015 defined a
political shift in the power of the Conservative Party under Stephen Harper in foreign affairs. In
contrast to the Harper Administration, PM Trudeau seeks to implement a more efficient plan for

West Side Story
No 10: Tonight (Ensemble)
Maria, Tony, Anita, Riff, Bernardo, Jets and Sharks
In this number, all the participants talk about the eventful evening they feel is ahead, each with
their own thoughts on what will happen.
There are three trains of thought:
1Riff and Bernardo thinking (in terms of their own gangs) of the fight arranged for later that evening
2Anita thinking about her nocturnal activities with Bernardo after the fight
3Tony and Maria more romantic love, idealised, though Tony has to agree with Riff, in
exasperation, to be present at the fight

adapted) and then the different melodic lines are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film version plays on this a little just after the Prologue where the Jets laugh as heartily as the
Sharks at a joke made by Bernardo at the expense of the common enemy the police.

A hemiola effect with orchestral tutti chords every three beats. The characters are getting in their
excuses ( well they began it ) first with a particularly childish version of the theme heard at 38
both quickly observe that their gangs will be the ones to stop the opposition (once again in unison
and with the same lyrics. Sondheim is careful to have no references to Jets or Sharks when both
leaders are singing). At 50 the Tonight motif is heard again. At 50 slinky, glissando saxophones
announce musically the arrival of the alluring Anita for her verse. This sort of sax writing has been
used in innumerable films and television programmes to signify a particularly alluring or sexy
(usually female) character
Bar 53 verse 4
Musically a return to verse one but Anita s snaky, swinging triplets in the vocal part make more of
her suggestive nature (rather than the rather direct and unsubtle quavers of Riff and Bernardo)
Bar 68 verse 4
Anita s Tonight motif overlaps with Tony s tonight on the anacrusis. Again there is a change to A

False Dichotomy
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over
will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to
you. (Luke 6:38 NKJV)
After reading Kapic s A Little Book for New Theologian, a false dichotomy that I have come
across throughout many churches and the body of Christ is the dilemma between giving and
receiving. Many people are so concerned with their treasures on Earth, that they will do whatever
it takes to maintain that treasure. Furthermore, pride gets in the way of individuals receiving the
blessings of the Lord mainly because they do not know how to receive. The church has those
individuals who do not want to give, but there are also many people who do ... Show more content

Kapic (2012, 52) states the faith to receive and submit to divine revelation is not acquired at the
conclusion of syllogistic exercise; it is a gift from God. Everyone struggles with something.
However, the church does not seek assistance because it would be viewed negatively, or that
individual has too much pride to receive something that they, or their family, needs. My argument
would be if we do not allow ourselves to be put in a position to receive from others, then we can
never receive God s many blessings either.
In order to resolve the false dichotomy between giving and receiving, I think individuals need to
recognize the importance of having a healthy balance of both ideals. It s important as followers
of Christ to know how to both give and receive of our time, money, energy, talents, etc.
Additionally, I think the dichotomy can be resolved by recognizing a weakness or lack of
understanding in one of the two ideals. If a church or an individual is able to give without question
but has a problem receiving , then that church or individual needs to focus on that ideal to resolve

  • 4. In-Game Making College Essay Creating something from nothing has always been a joy of mine, and nothing seemed to embody that notion more than creating a game through programming. Of course, I know that creating something from nothing is a fictional term but when you decide to immerse yourself in a programming scheme, bridging the gap between software and hardware, something truly magical happens. All that is needed is a single idea, no matter how absurd it is and a text editor. Once you have that, devote yourself to it for a few hours or days and you can create your own working world called a program. In game making, the whole world revolves around the programmer. They decided to stick with him (Davis). Kaepernick s bold decision to take a knee during the national anthem has brought an unforgiving media srom and with his poor play the 49ers organization has considered the option of cutting there QB.There decision to keep him on the team just expresses the fact that Kaepernick is making a change in the NFL and and how people see activists. Everyone has their own opinion on it. They either enjoy watching athletes be ridiculously good at their sport, and they find it entertaining, or they like to see athletes play by the rules. Steroid use is a big part of most sports, mostly baseball. Most records held by the greatest of baseball players used steroids. Steroid usage has many negative effects. Even a few that can be life threatening. Some people think that making it legal in sports will make more people want to watch and more money will come to the sport. Reexamining Crisis Management Philosophy Personal Experience with Organizational Crises In this paper, I present two riveting case scenarios containing the unadulterated recollection of my direct personal experiences in crisis management. Both cases provide authoritative details of life threatening events and the quick response by key individuals with direct corporate responsibility for managing the pre crisis, in crisis and post crisis events. Crisis management is a highly complex field. Therefore, a plausible approach to managing crises would require simplifying the functional relationship of key variables. The main advantage to derive from a better understanding of the correlation among key variables would be increased individual and institutional knowledge. I also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And, crisis management is the process of determining and influencing crisis points in a positive direction. The opposite would be termed crisis mismanagement . The traditional view of a crisis is that it is a turning point. The term was originally used in the field of medicine (disease control). Therefore, it is a borrowed term with its genesis in the early 15th century, from a Latinized form of Greek krisis turning point in a disease (Online Etymology Dictionary, n.d.). If a crisis cannot be defined in time (World Health Organization, n.d.) , then it is an event or a point in time of 0 days duration. A milestone is defined as a significant event of no duration (Project Management Institute, 2012). Therefore, a crisis and a milestone share similar properties with respect to their time dimension. The key difference between an emergency and a disaster lies in the resourcefulness of the organization or state and the need for external intervention. Since, a crisis moment is difficult to identify by focusing on the occurrence of the point in time; we should then divert our attention to significant shifts in resource needs as a basis for determining crisis points. The most common mechanism of injury is a fire or flame, followed by scald, contact, electrical, and chemical burns. The majority of burns occur at a home or residence (ABA, 2017). Primary care providers should be informed of the most current evidence based practice guidelines when caring for burnwounds. For decades, the first line treatment of partial thickness burn wounds has been and continues to be, silver sulfadiazine (SSD) cream (Zacharevskij et al, 2017). Patients not only experience the background pain that is constant from a burn wound, but also the procedural pain that is accompanied by dressing changes. Burn patients also endure anticipatory pain which is the worsening in pain due to the expectation of pain that is to come from dressing changes (Edwards, 2011). If dressings can be reduced from twice daily to every three to five days, the amount of pain reduction for these patients would be astronomical. • 11. I Had Pity For Both Morgan And Kiki During This Period My Commentary: I had pity for both Morgan and Kiki during this period. Morgan was making strides, and the chain of events that led to him losing Kiki and his life wouldn t have happened if it weren t for Ava stealing his meds. It was heartbreaking to hear how confused and disenchanted he was in his recovery journals (11/4), trying to do everything by the book and still failing. I had my first real occurrences of compassion for Kiki, who expressed to both Franco (10 /3) and Dillon (10/7) that she was losing sight of herself by constantly being on emotional eggshells with Morgan, tending to his needs while ignoring her own. I was impressed that the writers gave her enough self awareness to acknowledge her revolving door dating patterns,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, excellent performances ensued, naturally (shout out to Dominic Zamprogna, A.K.A. Dante). My personal favorites were from West and Wright. Ava s tortured breakdown on 10/11 after hearing Morgan died was the stuff of soap dreams and West s innate passion was the perfect ingredient for it. Mascara covered tears fell down her face, as guilt ridden flashes of her removing the pills seesawed with memories of their tawdry love affair, causing her to obliviously drop her martini glass. She sobs while picking up the shards, realizing she s involved in killing the only man she s loved since being in PC. Overtaken, she flings the pieces and screams, What have I done?!! She bumps into Bobbie the next day, who asks if she ever truly loved Morgan. Ava replies Yeah, I loved him...very much. There was a time when he was the only one who saw good in me at all. Now I suppose anyone who ever did (veiled reference to Nikolas?) is gone, and dashes off to crumble on the elevator. Carly s bouts of rage were everything (I can t come up with a suitable adjective, so we ll go with everything ). On 10/12, Sonny got it about Julian s hit. Before smashing a childhood photo of Morgan, she fumed, ...A bomb blew him up. You couldn t help yourself could you? You had to be the one to finish Julian. • 13. Characters In Life Of Pi The novel Life of Pi illustrates the life of a character named Pi during his 227 days lost at sea. There is a strong connection between the author Yann Martel and the characters and setting in the story Life of Pi. Martel s time spent in India was the major influence for this book as many of the characters and story are influenced by his experiences in India. The animals in the book, which play a major part in the story, are influenced primarily from Martel s visit to the Trivandrum Zoo, which contains all the animals in the story except the orangutan. Religionalso plays a major role in the story, which is influenced from Martel s visit to India as he learned about the religious culture of India. Although Martel did not directly experience the events that occurred in Life of Pi, his time spent in India helped to influence his work. The overall look of the uniform was intended to remind fans that they were not only watching real baseball, but real girls (Draeger, 1997). Players were issued an 11 page Guide for All American Girls: How to Look Better, Feel Better, Be More Popular along with a beauty kit (Charm School). They were given instructions in putting on makeup, how to get in and out of a car gracefully, how to speak correctly, and how to make proper conversations in social settings (Fincher, 1989). Clothing guidelines were issued, as well as a 10 step suggested beauty routine for after the games. Many females were denied from being able to join the AAGPBL if they looked masculine. Back then, being labeled masculine as a female meant they did not meet the expectations of beauty. This raised the question of, whether or not the exclusion of the masculine looking athletes compromised the power statistics of the league. The answer to this question still remains unknown because it is controversial. Joining the All American Girls Professional Baseball League brought a new opportunity for females. • 18. The Power Of Change In Blood Wedding By Federico Lorca Blood Wedding was written during a time of civil and political turmoil in Spain. Federico Lorca, the author of Blood Wedding, was one of many individuals divided over whether the people should have the oppression of the traditional ruling government or to have a new individually based era reign over Spain. Being a homosexual male inside such difficult times, Lorca was in favor for change. He wrote this play using a real life event that he read in the newspaper about a bride that ran away with the son of an enemy family. The events he read and the events in the play are a time capsule of the emotions distributed by both those for and those against change in Spain. Groom, the embodiment of the traditional Republican government, was deeply affected by the death of his father and brother, however this represents the weakening of the Spanish government due to the civil disputes within it. The use of bulls and blood are used to symbolize war. The Fascist leaders of Italy aided in the Spanish Civil War, they urged the Republican Government to wage war to prevent further uprisings by the Rebels, which were the individuals fighting for freedom ( The Spanish Civil War ). Groom and Mother s relationship is used by Lorca to portray how he views the traditional Spanish government and how it is being influenced by Fascist thought through a concept similar to a parent and their child. The ideas of Individual freedom are personified through Leonardo and the Horse. The main factors in this climate change are observed to be the increase in temperatures and the resulting acidification of the oceans. The previously mentioned changes and others in the report are readily observable, such as the uptake of anthropogenic carbon since 1750 that has led to the ocean becoming more acidic, with an average decrease in pH of 0.1 units and in some instances blatantly obvious, even to the average layperson. It is difficult to conclude what the rate of change in the future will be and the effects of observed ocean acidification on the marine biosphere. The report concludes, again with high confidence , that anthropogenic (human caused) warming has had a discernible influence on many of our planets physical and biological systems. While there are limitations and gaps in the knowledge available, particularly from undeveloped countries, the knowledge available allowed the group to attribute most of the observed increase in the globally averaged temperature since the mid 20th century to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations. The analysis was necessarily limited in the number of systems and locations considered. In addition, natural temperature variability is larger at the regional than at the global scale, thus affecting identification of changes due to external forcing and at the regional scale other factors such as land use change and pollution, are an environmental ... The act of lobbying is to solicit or try to influence the votes of members of a legislative body (Dictionary.com). There has always been controversy surrounding the political lobbyingsystem, due to the potential of corruption through bribery. Two important pieces of legislation became laws as a result of this controversy. The controversy surrounding political lobbying does not question the act of influencing public officials, but rather the ethics relating to how these public officials are influenced. It is important to distinguish the fine line between bribery and lobbying. It is illegal to bribe a public official in the United States. This would mean that an individual could not provide compensation to a public official for them to behave, or vote, in a specific manner. Lobbyists may donate money to a specific candidate s political campaign, but they may only do so when there is no expectation that the public official will behave in a favorable way toward the lobbyist or their clients (Mackinder). Lobbyists may bring public officials, their immediate families, and staff on trips or out to dinner. While it is illegal for a lobbyist representing a corporate client from directly bringing, it is not illegal for foreign governments to sponsor for these said trips (Goldmacher). What has begun to happen is lobbyists representing corporate clients may bring public officials on these trips, if the trip is sponsored by a foreign government. The Senate Office of Public Records reported that $3.23 billion was spent on lobbying in 2013, with 12,300 registered lobbyists. To implement GCT effectively, teachers must be able to distinguish a student s individual motivation to misbehave and negotiate alternative solutions to prevent their misbehaviour (Dempsey Arthur Kelly, 2007, p.122: Lyons et al., p. 24). For example, by using preventative strategies such as engaging in whole class discussions, explicit instructions, modelled consistency and offering choice with rules, consequence and academic tasks, students may be able to recognise their personal intentions and maintain suitable behaviours (Lyons et al., p. 24). GCT has many strengths, for instance, it provides teachers with an effective framework to distinguish their students motivation to misbehave. Furthermore, it helps students to recognise and adapt their own misbehaviour that may arise from failure to meet social needs. GCT encourages constructive classroom environments, where students are intrinsically motivated and actively involved in their learning, thus they demonstrate accountability for their own academic achievement whilst considering the needs of others. However, critics of GCT believe that not every student has the need to be socially accepted and other reasons such as an inability to recognise motives or hidden motives may be responsible for their misbehaviour (Lyons et al., 2014, p. 24). • 33. Displacement Reactions And The Single Displacement Reaction Introduction There are two types of displacement reactions : One type is called the single displacement reaction, the other is called the double displacement reaction. During a single displacement reaction, an element substitutes another element in a compound, creating a new element and a new compound as products. In most single displacement reactions, either a metal replaces another metal, or a non metal replaces another non metal. The more reactive element takes the place of the less reactive element in the compound, otherwise the reaction will not occur. The general chemical equations of single displacement can be: A (metal) + BC в†’ AC + B, A (non metal) + BC в†’ BA + C. Double displacement reaction is a chemical reaction , where the positive ions of two different chemical compounds exchange and produce two new compounds. The products may contain a precipitate. The general chemical equation of double displacement is: AB+ CD в†’ AD + CB The purpose of the lab is to observe the reactants and the products of three chemical reactions and determine which type of reaction occurs in each chemical reaction. The solubility tables can be used to help better determine the reaction types. The solubility tables refer to the solubility of ionic compounds in water. The analysis of the operating degrees of freedom of the model of a simple distillation column having one reboiler and one condenser reveals that two parameters among the various parameters such as reflux ratio, distillate flow rate, components recovery, condenser/reboiler temperature and condenser/reboiler heat duty should be specified to set the degrees of the freedom to zero (Hanson et al., 1962). • 38. The Scaffold Scenes in Nathaniel HawthroneВґs The Scarlet... Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter is known as a psychological novel regarding humanity, sin, guilt, and a fair amount of other ambiguous concepts. One of those is the significance of the three scaffold scenes throughout the work. The scaffold scenes signify religious and moral ideas, such as sinfulness, the spiritual figures the characters each portray, and the character development achieved by public and private absolution. The first scaffold scene begins the novel. In chapters two through three, the protagonist Hester Prynnestands on the scaffold, bearing a scarlet A and a child at her breast as signs of her adultery. She is interrogated and lectured by the Puritan ministers of the town, including Arthur Dimmesdale, who is later discovered to have been Hester s partner in crime and the father of Hester s baby Pearl. The first scaffold scene hosts also the initial appearance of Hester s speculated dead husband, Roger Chillingworth, amidst the crowd of townspeople watching his wife s public humiliation. Had there been a Papist among the crowd of Puritans, he might have seen in this beautiful woman [Hester], so picturesque in her attire and mien, and with the infant at her bosom, an object to remind him of the image of Divine Maternity... Accordingly, leaders play an important role in investigating suitable strategies for their companies, and just like Montgomery mentions in the book that leader is the one who must shepherd this ongoing process, must stand watch, identify and weigh, decide and move, time and time again (Cynthia Montgomery, 2012). For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. (Luke 6:38 NKJV) After reading Kapic s A Little Book for New Theologian, a false dichotomy that I have come across throughout many churches and the body of Christ is the dilemma between giving and receiving. Many people are so concerned with their treasures on Earth, that they will do whatever it takes to maintain that treasure. My argument would be if we do not allow ourselves to be put in a position to receive from others, then we can never receive God s many blessings either. In order to resolve the false dichotomy between giving and receiving, I think individuals need to recognize the importance of having a healthy balance of both ideals. It s important as followers of Christ to know how to both give and receive of our time, money, energy, talents, etc. Additionally, I think the dichotomy can be resolved by recognizing a weakness or lack of understanding in one of the two ideals.
