2. Importance Of Cultural Norms And Practices In Business
establishes their rituals and justifies what are their norms and values. Businesses wanting to expand
to different nations must take into account the countries culture and values in order to produce and
manufacture products and services according to the norms of their society, and ensure their culture
is respected and preserved in the way the products are marketed and manufactured. The products
must be available and accessible without concerns of dissing religion and aspects of their culture
and way of life.
Businesses can take advantage in a developing country through specialisation, which is producing
products custom made and specifically catered to a certain culture which is similar in various
countries. Businesses will have to overcome language barriers, learn about others religion, receive
advice from local experts of the country and become familiar to the people s behaviour, customs
and aesthetics to properly and appropriately distribute its products
Specialisation can be see through Dr Matthew McDougall investing into the Chinese Market, and
became the founder of DaigouSales. Dr McDougall had found that Chinese students and immigrants
were purchasing Australian products through family and friends of their hometown. They began
exporting products of interest and learnt new ways to do business in China. They became aware of
the Chinese culture and the way their customers were updated on the latest fashion trends and
therefore marketed their products successfully. Their

3. The Jfk Airport Is The Best And Worst Experience Of My Life
I grew up in a little, one red light town, where we have one festival a year that celebrates
blueberries, where playing in the mud is not an unusual thing, and where being barefoot is
almost normal. I live in the country. The country is my home. So, to think that I would ever end
up on a three week stay in a place where the horns never stop honking, the sirens never ceased to
exist, and the people are within arms distance all around you, would be crazy. I mean going to the
Big Apple , it is an insane idea. The only thing around here that s big is our barns. I believe that
going to New York Citywas the best and worst experience of my life. The plane ride was an
experience that I definitely enjoyed. It was my first time on a plane and, it just makes sense
because you get to a place in half the time and, it s also fun. The JFK airport is a whole
experience in itself. The airport is a mall, a restaurant, a spa, a liquor store, and many other
things all in one. Stepping out into the streets of New York is like stepping into altered universe.
The horns are screamed in your ear, the people are shuffling across the street before the orange
hand comes up to tell them to stop walking (I felt more like a pack mule crossing the street with
all the luggage I was carrying), and every one was frantically searching for the taxi they just
called. When you are riding in the taxi you can try to look out the windows to see the tops of the
buildings, but your eyes will never reach the top of

4. Infantile Amnesia Research Paper
Ever wondered why you were at a family gathering and all of your family were telling stories of
childhood memories and you were the only on with the constipated face because you had no idea
of what they were talking about? Well you might be one of few who may have infantile amnesia. In
the late 19th Century, Sigmund Freud described the phenomenon in which people are unable to
recall events from early childhood as infantile amnesia. Infantile amnesia or sometimes called
childhood amnesia can be defined as the inability of adults to retrieve episodic memories before
the age of 2 to 4 years, as well as the period before age 10 of which adults retain fewer memories
than might otherwise be expected given the passage of time. Infantile amnesia is... Show more

Meltzoff 1995 conducted a study with about one hundred and ninety two infants evenly divided
between 14 and 16 months old. The researchers assessed long term memory recall using nonverbal
methods requiring the subjects to reenact a past event from memory. He conducted two different
experiments which were composed of two treatment groups. A delay of 2 months was used in
Experiment 1 and a delay of 4 months in Experiment 2. In one treatment group, motor practice
(immediate imitation) was allowed before the delay was imposed; in the other group, subjects were
prevented from motor practice before the delay. Age matched control groups were used to assess
the natural production of the target acts in the lack of exposure to the model in both experiments.
The results demonstrated significant deferred imitation for both treatment groups at both delay
intervals, and furthermore showed that infants retained and imitated multiple acts. These findings
suggest that infants have a non verbal declarative memory system that supports the recall of past
events across long term delays. It also implies that infants can form such memories so why is
infantile amnesia still such a thing ? One possibility may be that because it was a nonverbal
declarative memory that was performed and retained. Plus there was a certain time frame in which
you could receive these memories, thus concluding that the older the individual the faster the loss
of ability to retain certain

5. The Greed Cycle Essay
Article Review: The Greed Cycle, by John Cassidy
The article by Thomas Cassidy, points out the instrumental role that greed plays in the modern
corporation. Modern Economists have always seen greed as not only a necessary element in the
corporate environment, but as also a vital part of the successful evolution of a public company. As
the article points out, Economists from Adam Smith to Milton Friedman have seen greed as an
inevitable and, in some ways, desirable feature of capitalism. In a well regulated and well balanced
economy, greed helps to keep the system expanding .
In the early public companies, greed was not seen as a danger, as the implicit trust that managers
would not slack off, and would run the company in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They went on to state that competition would not solve this dilemma. This lead to a re evaluation
of the goal of corporations, from merely maximizing revenues, to maximize the value of the firm, as
it was determined in the stock market.
Once the goal of corporations became maximizing the value of the firm, they attracted wealthy
corporate raiders , who used this new corporate philosophy to launch many takeover attempts on
companies, with the intent on restructuring these companies, as to increase their stock prices, so that
they can refloat them for a considerable profit. Most of these takeovers were financed with
borrowed money, hence the term leverВaged buyouts, or LBOs. As the article states, In a typical
LBO, the acquirer would buy out the public stockholders and run the comВpany as a private
concern, slashing costs and slimming it down. The ultimate aim was to refloat the company on the
stock market at a higher valuation . Initially this was seen as one of the best remedies for the
agency issues that surfaced between shareholders and mangers. However as the economic climate
changed, many realized that the LBO was not the answer. When the economy went into a
recesВsion during the early nineteen nineties, many of the firms that had gone private, such as

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that depression will be the second highest
cause of medical cause of disability by the year 2030, second only to AIDS/HIV. Depression
comes in many different forms and shapes affecting around 350 million people worldwide,
roughly 7% of the world population and despite the available treatment options many do not have

Depression is a mental health disorder that can be characterized by loss of interest of once
enjoyable activities, and a persistent mood of depression (MacGill, 2017). As previously stated
earlier in this paper, hundreds of millions suffer from this debilitating mental disorder on a global
scale and is extremely prevalent in today s society. According to MacGill, those individuals
suffering from depression often times have symptoms consisting of feelings of loneliness,
worthlessness, apathy, or depressed moods and tend to have a difficult time doing things or getting
out of bed (2017). Other symptoms that arrive with depression can also include irritability, anxiety,
isolation, lethargic tendencies, suicidal thoughts, appetite loss, and weight gain or loss. There are
numerous causes of depression, according to MacGill, ranging from genetics, environmental
factors, traumatic events, psychological and psychosocial problems, drugs and drug abuse, having
had a major depressive disorder, or a change in neurotransmitter levels (2017). Serotonin, a
neurotransmitter that results in a happy feeling, is typically found in highly reduced levels in those

An Overview of the Other Three Temperaments
Artisans are the temperament with a natural ability to excel in any of the arts not only the fine arts
such as painting and sculpting, or the performing arts such as music, theater, and dance, but also the
athletic, military, political, mechanical, and industrial arts, as well as the art of the deal in business.
Idealists, as a temperament, are passionately concerned with personal growth and development.
Idealists strive to discover who they are and how they can become their best possible self always
this quest for self knowledge and self improvement drives their imagination. They want to help
others make the journey as well. Idealists are naturally drawn to working with people, and whether
in education or counseling, in social services or personnel work, in journalism or the ministry, they
are gifted at helping others find their way in life, often inspiring them to grow as individuals and to

9. Relationship Between Relationship Marketing And Customer...
When examined historically, relationship marketing and customer relationship management have
been two central essentials in marketing strategy in the past decades. Customer Relationship
Management term originated at the beginning of the 20th century when the concept of marketing
shifted from transactional to relational. The shift toward this more personal marketingapproach has
been stemmed from the increased demand for attention of consumers who want to ensure that the
brands they choose not only offer and sell products or services, but they sincerely care about them.
This emotional demand caused companies to act accordingly and thus human like brand
communication systems and relationship marketingstrategies which try to understand and answer
customers more deeply and carefully started to occur. Brands started to emphasize the real human
beings behind their logos, pay the attention what their customers need and display human like
humour and intelligence in the way they communicate with their customers to get ahead and
compete in the market. Being friends with the customers and providing every necessary
information and support for them on different social media accounts regularly became one of the
key success factors for companies today.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

intimacy theory. Then Reis and Shaver (1988) s proposition of intimacy had its reflections on
relationship marketing and many studies suggested further research on intimacy skills and

10. Essay on The Food of the Gods
The Food of the Gods
For over 2000 years, chocolate in its many forms has been enjoyed and its effects have been
exalted. It was believed that the Mexican god Quetzalcoatl left the cocoa tree for the people. The
Aztec emperor Montezuma is reported to have consumed 50 goblets of chocolate a day. It is
called the food of the gods, literally, as a translation of Theobroma Cacao, the cacao bean. (1).
Such a title must imply that chocolate has some naturally occurring superior quality. Why else
would we crave it so much more than other foods? For many people, nothing can take the place of
chocolate when a craving hits.
Chocolate and cocoa have very complex chemical properties and many components. Among the

It is a tetrahydroisoquinoline, (TIQ), or alkaloid of dopamine found endogenous in mammalian
brains, and also found in cocoa and chocolate. This research has claimed that salsolinol seems to be
one of the main psychoactive compounds present in cocoa and chocolate and might be included in
chocolate addiction. Similar compounds have the effect of inhibition of monoamine oxidase (a
substance that reduces the amounts of norepinepherine acting on neurons), mirroring the effect of
MAO inhibitors which are commonly used as antidepressants. Other effects reflect this general
antidepressant influence on the brain. Interestingly, salsolinol was also found to bind with a
relatively high affinity to D3 receptors, a subtype of dopamine receptor which is implicated in
reward. This may be a factor in the rewarding properties which some people find chocolate to
possess. Overall, this study suggested that chocolate may have the ability to
psychopharmacologically induce craving and even addiction, especially in persons who are inclined
to become addicted to other things. (5).
Some research has found that chocolate has the capability to stimulate the production of the body s
endogenous opioids, or endorphins. Endorphins work on opioid receptors in the body, the same
receptors on which morphine, heroin and other analgesics work, to cause relief from pain, create
feelings of well being and even euphoria. Although scientists claim that one must eat many pounds

Home Sweet Home? Rebecca and I saw the crowd through sleep deprived, exhilarated eyes. We
had dreamed up the idea of this exhibit a year and a half before it opened, and had been working
on it day and night, with the help of a few devoted friends, for many intense weeks. Author,
Arwen Donahue writes, in her book, This is Home Now. In this novel, she explores the current
lives of Holocaust survivors that call Kentucky their homes. To begin her introduction, she takes us
back to when she opens her exhibit to the public, and how powerful it was to all of the attendees.
She claims that these Holocaust survivors call Kentucky their home, but does not give any
evidence to indicate that they have planted roots or have embraced their communities. While this is

However, that is all she says about denial. Having the word denial in the title gives the reader the

this whole book is about the survivors living in Kentucky, so why restate it? One of the most
fascinating stories to me, is the one of Mr. Perlman, on page 9. From Donahue s explanation, it
sounds like he was interested in helping at first, which lasted several years. However, his views on
the project dramatically changed, almost as if something had happened to him. Donahue did not

their peculiar meeting. After the story of Mr. Perlman, she included Mr. Goldfarb s light hearted

Kenneth Branagh s 1993 film of Much Ado About Nothing is a British and American romantic
comedy, based on William Shakespeare s renowned production. In sixteenth century Messina, Sicily
set on and around Governor Leonato s estate, villains are outwitted, lovers wed and dancing
concludes an underlining major conflict, ado about nothing. Suspicion of a deceived wedding, in
which husbands are obliged to be controlled and betrayed, but also greatly desire to be married.
Branagh employs visual humour through fundamental themes, recurring motifs and symbols,
which exemplify abstract ideas, or concepts. Thus, this assists to emphasise the significance of
Shakespeare s dialogue throughout specific scenes in the adaptation. To begin with, themes are the
fundamental and commonly general notions explored within Branagh s film and Shakespeare s
literary work. The ideal of social refinement depicts each character s intriguing manner of language
that Renaissance nobles endeavoured for in their social interactions. The film s language is
significantly associated with metaphor and ornamented by rhetoric, as is the original play.
Benedick and Claudio both aristocratic soldiers, as well as Don Pedro an important nobleman from
Aragon instigate the kind of witty mockery, that courtiers used to attract attention and support in
noble households. In the opening scene, Benedick and his companions attempt to present their
refined social graces both in their behaviour and dialogue. Visual

globalisation for Sub Saharan Africa? Exemplify your answer.
The Criminalisation of the State in Africa is an unhelpful and inaccurate phenomena which
postulates that at the heart of political and governmental institutions within Africa lies crime. It is
clear that in the wake of globalisation and post colonial neoliberal reforms Africa has struggled to
maintain its stature in the world wide global economy; the GDP for the whole of Sub Saharan
Africa stands at $744 billion, which is just 28% of Chinas. The rise of the Asian Tiger economies in

Africa has a history of political and civil unrest dating back to the late 19th century and the start of
the colonial occupation of African nations. Since independence many nations have struggled with
undemocratic governments famous for corruption, embezzlement and money laundering. Within
the criminalisation of state theory it is claimed that Sub Saharan Africa has a standardised criminal
model derived from dominant social groups exploiting the income gained from their insertion into
the international economy as a method of dependence (Bayart, Ellis and Hibou 1999). This is an
attempt to show the historical context of the criminality within the state as if it is something that
has existed throughout all of the African nations importing and exporting life span. In order to suit
this argument it is easy to use few famous state leaders, such as Charles Taylor or Joseph Momoh,
who are renowned for their criminal activity as examples; however to paint a whole continent with
the same brush seems nonsensical and inaccurate. Botswana emerged from the colonial regime one
of the poorest nations in Africa yet due to a

14. Doublespeak In Advertising
I agree with your claim that MasterCard unethically uses doublespeak in this advertisement, and
that was one of my main ideas (my first one to be specific) in my original answer also. It s
interesting how when we think as critical receivers, we can clearly see the juxtaposition between
what s said and its actual underlying meaning. For example, when they say free , it will actually
cost a lot of money, and when they discuss offers associated with having this card, they fail to
mention the fees and terms that are associated with the card. While any misleading or confusing
persuasive language can be considered doublespeak, this specific utilization of words with opposite
meanings exemplifies George Orwell s newspeak from 1984 (Larson,... Show more content on

Obviously as an advertiser it makes sense that you only show the positive benefits associated
with the product, but in this case, the positive elements aren t even realistic. This ties in to my
point about the association principle being woven into the ad to connect a credit card with
happiness and family values. The association principle connects these ideals which in reality are
not connected at all (Campbell et. al., 2013). For instance, if I want to show my family that I
value and love them, I can spend time with them and verbally convey affection. I find it
inappropriate and unethical that MasterCard is implementing exaggerated emotional appeals
(pathos) to suggest that a family s happiness is connected to their world credit card; after all, as
the age old adage goes, Money can t buy happiness. In addition, as I have claimed in my original
answer and some of my other responses, the emotional branding used by MasterCard is marketing a
lifestyle more than a product (Goodman et. al., 2003), and using this kind of marketing strategy
often results in fallacious and unethical persuasive tactics. There s some excellent ideas here,

employee to use or go though the county clinics to seek treatment, which is a challenge in itself
as the clinics, are so busy on any given day or night. There are many reasons to rethink the
compensation and benefits that this organization offers employees. They do offer a large PTO
amount each payday; however that is used for everything such as, sick leave, holiday pay, and
vacations. If one of the departments is closed for the holiday then you are forced to take PTO
even if you do not want to. During the first year of employment, full time staff accrues 28 days at
the rate of 8.62 hours every two weeks. The accrual rate increases with each year of full time
service, up to a rate of 38 days per year (University Health Systems, 2015). Another benefit that is

question that many people might have. Why some people are more successful than others? The
answer couldn t be just their intelligence or hard working, as Malcolm Gladwell explains in his

that we shouldn t just research only about the person, also we need to spend more time and

18. Language And Its Effects On The Formation Of Relative Clauses
INTRODUCTION
Kiswahili is one of the best documented and most studied African languages and much work has
been done in analyzing various aspects of the language. However, one area which has thus far
been not enough explored is that of the syntactic elements of the relative clause. To this end, the
paper will focus on by providing a detailed (though not exhaustive) analysis of relative clauses
without attempting to grapple with morphology. This is done deliberately so that time is not
wasted on restating too much previous research as morphology in Kiswahili is already a well
researched area. Moreover, Swahili syntax is deceptively simple and can cause one to imagine
that it is of no importance. In a language as highly agglutinative as Swahili, it seems that
morphology is all that is needed to appreciate the language, however, syntax, as will be shown,
does have some powerful implications in the formation of relative clauses.
The morphosyntactic glosses provided will follow the Leipzig glossing convention throughout.
Given the nature of this research, original data has not been collected, as opposed to the previous
study of the NP structure, and all of the examples have been taken from secondary sources namely:
Zwart (1997), Lippss (2011), and Ngonyani (2001).
Before dealing with relative clause syntax, outlining a few general features of Kiswahili and having
an idea of what a simple sentence can be in Kiswahili seems to be useful.

22. Ballet Slippers Research Paper
Ballet Slippers Culture is the overview of how a group of people live, their beliefs and moral
system, and basic things such as how they dress. Culture is subjective, no two people see it the
same way. I may see Scottish culture as a group of people who wear kilts and play bagpipes, but
someone else may think it involves red hair and haggis. Cultureis often made up of stereotypes, for
example: someone may believe that Canadian culture is igloos, pet polar bears, apologizing, and
saying eh after every word. In reality Canadian culture from the perspective of someone living in it
includes: different religions, holding the door for someone behind you, and wearing a tuque in
winter. There are multiple layers of culture, the blanket term; usually referring to the country or
main region in which you live. Culture can then be broken down into many sub categories such as:

23. The Changes In The Medieval Church
Before the church deliberates missiology we need to go back to the creation of all things because
the glory of God is evident there. We must immediately fall back on the Holy Scriptures because
they witness to God s covenant and promises to humanity. It is a covenant that ranges from the
formation of a people, Israel, temporary through the New Testament, with the coming of Jesus, to
one day the complete manifestation of God s Holy Spirit reaching to all nations and cultures. Thus
we will go back in history reviewing the Medieval Church s mission in contrast with the Anabaptist
and its missiology.

The culture shapes the institutional mission, goals and values, and determines the parameters of
operation of the Army. The first element of the American Army culture is ethic. This is
influenced by the artifacts and hierarchical manner in which the Army is structured. Soldiers are
required to bring dignity and honor to themselves and to the nation. The actions of the Army s
strategic leaders are determined by the established laws of the United States. The second element
of culture is respect for the right and dignity of other people. The different operations conducted
by the Army should consider the rights and dignity of others and the Army should not be seen to
be infringing on these rights. Even in enemy territory, the target is always the adversary and the
Army always tries as much as possible not to expose innocent civilians of the enemy territory to
danger. The Soldiers are always trained to protect the political independence of the collective
American society. This is to mean that the nation has a right of holding political opinions within
the geopolitical world and no citizen of the nation should be exposed to threats due to the political
stands of the nation. The other element of Army culture is that evaluations are always performed

Secrets and Style of Sir Poe Gothic fiction is the strange, dark, spooky, and supernatural writing
style loved by readers of all ages. Most of the stories written in the Gothic style were centered in
the gothic medieval period. Several renowned books like The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston
Leroux and The Hunchback of Notre Dame by Victor Hugo were written in this style. Edgar Allan
Poe was one well known Gothic writer and poet from the early eighteen hundreds; he was
especially famous for his tales of mystery and macabre. A popular dark short story, The Tell Tale

Therefore, the metaphors used by Poe supports the sinister mood of the short story and poem.
Diction, or word choice, is also used in The Tell Tale Heart and The Raven to indirectly
characterize the narrator and speaker. The narrator of The Tell Tale Heart, upon spying the
vulture eye of the old man, depicts it as all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over [the eye] that
chilled the very marrow in [his] bones (Poe 355). Through using the word hideous and the
phrase chilled the very marrow in [his] bones , the narrator blatantly reveals his wariness
towards the old man s eye. The narrator feels threatened by the eye, which indirectly
characterizes him as insane because it is unnatural for people to feel terrorized by appearance.
Additionally, the speaker in The Raven claims that while he dreams about Lenore in the
presence of the raven, the air [grows] denser, perfumed from an unseen censer / Swung by
Seraphim whose footfalls tinkled on the tufted floor (Poe 79, 80). Censer and Seraphim are two
words that express the speaker s longing for Lenore, as a censer is a covered incense burner
usually used in funerals, and Seraphim is an order of angels from Heaven. The reference to angels
and funerals indirectly characterizes the speaker as

his bleak outlook on humanity. In 1819, at the age of 72, Goya moved into a two story house

IT has given major benefits to a broad variety of countries, ranging from developed countries
(such as New Zealand, Sweden and the UK) to developing ones (such as Brazil, Korea and South
Africa). For India, there are probably broader powerful benefits, it says.
India s gross fiscal deficit remains one of the highest in the world and, recently, government
liabilities have been increasing at an alarming rate.
Goldman Sachs estimates that the overall government deficit stood at just under 6% in FY2008.
In FY2009, this may accelerate to above 7%, due to a large debt waiver for farmers, a big wage
hike for civil servants, increasing fertiliser and oil subsidies, and higher exemptions on income tax.
At such high levels, government borrowing crowds out private sector credit, keeps interest rates
high, adds to already high government debt, and becomes a key source of macro vulnerability.
Therefore, a medium term strategy for fiscal policy, which reduces the overall deficit to a
sustainable level, is critical for India.
India s financial sector remains small and underdeveloped. The state still dominates the sector,
holding 70% of banking assets, a majority of insurance funds and the entire pension sector.
Additionally, markets are lacking in corporate debt, currency and derivatives. This leads to a lack
of credit and low financial savings. Total credit, at 50% of GDP (although increasing rapidly in
recent years), remains well below that of its Asian

On June 28, 2012, the Protecting Canada s Immigration System Act (Bill C 31) took effect. This
act was put in place to bring further reforms to the asylum system, add measures to address human
smuggling, and add the requirement to include biometric data as part of a temporary resident visa,
work permit, and study permit application. These changes were claimed to help the system to
function better, cut down wait time, make the process faster, screen applicants better, and to
prevent needless complications. This resulted in many changes to Canadas asylum system. There
were four changes made to the Immigrationand RefugeeBoard of Canada (IRB). The first change
was replacing the Basis of Claim (BOC) form with the Personal Information Form (PIF). This
change meant that people who make a refugee claim at an office in Canada must submit a
completed BOC during their eligibility interview. If they made a refugee claim at a port of entry
then they must submit their BOC to the IRB no later than 15 days after their claim is referred to
the IRB. Another change made was that the hearings at the (IRB) would be conducted by public
servant decision makers rather than people appointed by the Governor in Council (GIC). Also,
hearings for most claimants would be held no later than 60 days after the refugee claim is referred
to the IRB. And finally, for claimants from designated countries of origin, their hearings would be

32. Diversity And Inclusion For Diversity
In the most simplest terms diversity and inclusion can be explained by diversity being the mix
and inclusion is getting the mix to work well together. In broader terms, diversity is anything
that can be used to differentiate groups and people from one another. This can be anything from
life experiences, learning styles, personality types to race, gender, sexual orientation or even
county of origin. These differences can be used to achieve quality teaching, learning and support
services. Inclusion is used to describe a state of being valued, respected and also supported. The
term is also used to describe the active, intentional and ongoing engagement with diversity. This
also focuses on the need of every particular person and making sure that the right conditions are
set for them to reach their full potential. Diversity is the balance in each individual in a certain
group, whereas inclusion is the strategies that allow each person s strengths to be welcomed and
embraced. It is important to spread the rule of diversity and inclusion in the workplace in order to
ensure that your employees feel comfortable and valued in your company. When a diversity and
inclusion agreement is in place you have to make sure that staff, faculty and anyone going in or out
of the office are actually practicing it. This means celebrating different cultures, religions and
ethnicities as well as equipping the employees with programs to strengthen their skills and

33. The First System Of Law Enforcement
When the first settlers came over from England, they didn t have a clue on how to survive or
make their way in a new environment. To ensure their survival, they tried to use the information
that they had learned in England to help them start their way, such as scavenging for food,
collecting wood to build a shelter, and finding places to get fresh water. Over the decades,
Americans and early settlers have copied English ways of living before changing them to fit their
needs today, such as, spelling by removing the u from words like color, driving on the other side
of the road and finding our own food style that doesn t consist of tea and scones.
When the early, New England settlers came to America, they tried to set up their own ways of life
that differed from the mother country of England. For example, in 1631, the first system of law
enforcement was established. It was modeled after the British police structure, which incorporated
the watch, constables, and sheriffs in a community based police organization. While colonists
started settling into the New World, local ordinances had allowed for constables to be appointed.
The townspeople of each town created an unpaid watch made up of six watchmen, one constable,
and several volunteers who patrolled at night. This is what is written down in the National Law
Enforcement Museum for the origin of the police, but in actuality, the police system was shaped
and originated by slave patrols and night watches.

In 1934 Hitler moved in to take supreme power of Germany and was able to establish a
dictatorship. I agree that the main reason why Hitler was able to do this was because of the
Reichstag Fire in 1933. There were many other reasons other than this such as the Enabling Act, the
banning of political parties and trade unions and finally the Night of the Long Knives.
The Reichstag fire was the most important why Hitler was able to establish a dictatorship. On the
evening of the 27th of February 1933, the Reichstag building was destroyed by a huge fire caused

The Reichstag was now just a meeting place for the NSDAP.
The final reason for the establishment of Hitler s dictatorship was the Night of the Long Knives.
Some SA leaders demanded that the Nazi party should carry out its socialist agenda, and that the
SA should take over the army. Hitler couldn t afford to annoy the businessmen or the army. On
the 30th of June 1934, Hitler, with the help of the SS, murdered around 400 of the SA members,
including its leader Ernst Röhm, along with a number of Hitler s other political opponents. All
this was done in just 4 days! The Night of the Long Knives was important. The first reason it was
important was because of this, Hitler was given loyalty by the army. Because the army was much
smaller than the SA, they feared them a lot. Consequently, many of the Army s leaders asked
Hitler to abolish the power of the SA. If he didn t do this, the army warned him that they will put
up a candidate to oppose Hitler. The army was also the only organisation that had the power to
remove Hitler. After he did this, the army swore an oath of loyalty to Hitler.
So what am I to conclude? Is it still a yes or is it a no. In fact, I think the answer is still yes,
because not only did the Reichstag Fire

some extent, but these sales promotions, promo staff are more consumerist. These promotions are
vital for proper marketing of services or products of a company. There are three categories of
strategies namely push strategy, pull strategy and combination of both.
A push strategy engrosses the intermediary channel members to push the product through the
distribution channels to end consumers through promotions. Companies promote the services or
products though the resellers who in turn promote it to another buyer or to the end customer. These
are the people who carry the brand though out the channel to reach the end

41. Cuba Post-Cold War Analysis
This week s readings followed the perspectives of the United States and Cuba through multiple
transitions of power throughout the mid 20th century and late 21st century. U.S. policies
implemented by the various presidents over this sixty year span were unable to solve previous
hegemonic and interventionist ideologies. On the other hand, Cubapre and post Cold War was a
growing power that gave voice and representation to nations who had been previously colonized
and dominated by bigger superpowers. Cuba wanted to end ties with the United States, a nation who
had been instrumental in preventing their goals and fight for their struggles. Fidel Castrorepresented
the legitimacy of Cuban goals and pursuits of nationalism across the world. On the... Show more

Cuba no longer had the Soviets support, which had previously been an instrumental part of their
resilience throughout the war. Yet, the United States refused to normalize relations or make amends
with the vulnerable country. Author Jorge I. DomГnguez noted, Cuba repatriated its troops,
stopped its military assistance to insurgencies, and began to conform to a world market economy
(pg. 4). Post Cold War, the United States should have extended its reprieve and apologized for its
years of wrongdoings. Cuba had proven itself as a powerful force, a struggle that they had long
undergone for decades, despite great odds. Instead, the United States devised the Helms Burton Act,
a policy that endured U.S. embargo against Cuba one of many modern lineal descendants of the
Monroe Doctrine and the Roosevelt Corollary (DomГnguez, pg.12). U.S. policymakers and
officials failed to learn from their same mistakes that put the two nations in such a place. To prove
this point again, President Clinton was even considering military intervention in Cuba before
agreeing upon the implementation of the Helms Burton Act. The subsequent presidents after
Dwight Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy seemed to have forgotten the deleterious effects of
intervention of all

42. How Do Earthquakes Affect Japanese Life
The Japanese islands sit where several continental and oceanic plates meet. The two continental
plates are the Eurasian and North American Plates, while the oceanic plates are the Pacific and
Philippine Sea Plates. These four plates slowly grind each other, which builds up seismic force, and
when this force is released, the result is an earthquake. More than 100,000 earthquakes strike Japan
each year, big and small. And if an earthquake occurs below or close to the ocean, a tsunamimay
form. Earthquakes have definitely affected Japanese life. The most major earthquakes in Japanese
history have taken a heavy toll of human lives and property. To prevent some of the damage,
scientists have been trying to predict the occurrence of earthquakes

43. Harriet Jacob And Phillis Wheatley
Harriet Jacob and Phillis Wheatley, Incident in the Life of a Slave Girl and On Being Brought
from Africa to America both presents the existential conditions of being a black woman in a male
dominated society. Despite their years span differences, both author present different, yet similar
views of enslavement in America where black women struggle to reclaim their humanity and seek
freedom within their society. For both Harriet and Phillis, both women used literacy as their voice
to raise concern for the plight of enslaved African Americans, more specifically the women.
For both Harriet Jacob and Phillis Wheatley, their authority comes through narration in establishing
the authenticity of their character and their, which becomes a significant aspect in both Incidents in
the Life of a Slave Girl and On Being Brought from Africa to America. Both the narrative and poem
challenges the literacy framework in which their work reflected. From the beginning, Phillis and
Harriet identify their social identity as young African American women forced into slavery. Harriet
begins her narrative and states, I was born a slave; but I never knew it till six years of happy
childhood had passed away (1). Her narrative focuses on the horrendous conditions in which slaves,
especially women slaves endured at the hand of their white masters. Although it fits with the
framework of a melodramatic style that also copies resemble elements of romantic novels, Harriet
works outside the framework, but

44. Marshmallow Research Papers
In an archeological dig at a 60,000 year old Neanderthal burial ground, discoveries were made
that indicated these early people used marshmallow, yarrow and groundsel, which are still in use
today. An ancient papyrus believed to have originated in the 16th century BCE before common
era), lists over 800 recipes which refer to 700 plus herbs used medicinally, including wormwood,
peppermint, myrrh, aloe, henbane and castor oil. The papyrus also notes the used of moldy bread
on sores and wounds to prevent infection. This is interesting, but are these herbs used today? How
do I use them and what are their uses? Let s find out. On the previous slide, you discovered,
60,000 years ago, people used marshmallow in herbal practice. I bet you instantly... Show more

45. The Pursuit Of Happiness Is The Universal Search For A Life
The pursuit of happiness is the universal search for a life an individual can feel content and
satisfied with. However, as stated in class, happiness is a fleeting emotion rather than a prolonged
state. Once an individual achieves a sense of happiness it is only a matter of time before they return
to the starting point of their quest. Therefore, happinessalone is not enough to elicit a good life. On
a similar note, in 2004, Professor Martin Seligman gave a TED talk that addressed the current
direction of psychology. He believed the extent of psychology had become the ability to make
miserable people feel less miserable rather than [making] relatively untroubled people happier. As a
result, he and his colleagues developed positive psychology, a branch of psychology that promotes
the components of happiness, well being, and fulfillment to achieve a satisfactory life. The
purpose of this project is to learn about your well being and discover ways to increase the quality
of your life through positive psychology.
For the first section of this project, I performed a self assessment of my well being using Seligman
s five pillars of positive psychology: Positive emotion, engagement, meaning, relationships, and
accomplishment (Grison, Heatherton, Gazzaniga, 2015). I identified the characteristics of each
pillar and compared them to similar criteria in my life. This process provided me with an in depth
understanding of my life in relation to the model. Following the

46. Ownership In Stadiums
You have found yourself in a tough spot that is for sure. Since the stadium does not claim
responsibility for damage to your car, there is little you can do in respect to the damage to the
car itself. You would absolutely have a legal right to recover damages from the fan who damaged
your car if you had some way of proving who it was who actually threw the statue through your
windshield. However, all hope is not lost. One important detail of this occurrence you must uncover
is who has ownership over the statue that was used to create this damage. If the statue is owned by
the stadium, then you have found your window. Most parking lots or parking garages have a
disclaimer removing themselves from the liability of the damage to your car. However,
