Essay on Voter Habits Based on Demographics
Voter Habits Based on Demographics
Abstract
In this paper I intend to evaluate the voting habits of the American public. I will look at how race,
sex, education level, marital status, income level, current employment status, and age affects
whether or not people vote. I am also going to examine which political parties these groups have
historically voted for, why they vote for them, how this has changed over the years if it has
changed at all, and why it has changed.
I believe that from previous voting information you could fairly well predict the voters choices. I m
not saying you could foretell the outcome of upcoming elections, but you could figure out what to
expect given the state of current affairs.
I find this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This difference is made up of people who do not have United States citizenship. This is important
for the consideration of racial and ethnic differences in voting rates. Immigration has affected the
non citizen population of many groups. Only two percent of Non Hispanic whites are not citizens
and six percent of Blacks are not citizens. This is in stark contrast to the thirty eight percent of
Hispanics and thirty eight percent of Asians and Pacific Islanders who do not have citizenship.
This can be seen in the nineteen percent of voting age Hispanics, Asians and Pacific Islanders who
voted compared to the thirty percent of the voting age citizen population who voted. This is
illustrated well in the following graph.
The overall percentage of 18 and over citizens who voted in the 2002 congressional election was at
the second lowest with the 1998 election being the lowest. There has been an increase in the
overall number of people eligible to vote, but a decrease in the percentage that register to vote and
the percentage of registered voters that do. I believe this comes from an increase in the
sensationalism of the presidential elections that over shadows the congressional elections. The
hype and prominence isn t present so it tends to slide by unnoticed. You can see this in the average
difference of thirteen percent more voters in presidential elections since 1964. The people who do
vote in these elections are the ones, I

Bmw, Honda, And Saab Cars
According to perceptual maps, the BMW, Honda, and SAAB cars are the main competitors.
This is because their positions are close to the Infinity G20 in the map. Individuals view Infinity
G20 as a brand for success. Moreover, they think that it s more attractive as compared to its
competitors. However, the BMW is the most prestigious and most quite, according to the
perceptual map. SAAB is the most roomy and most quite car, according to the perceptual map.
Also in Exhibit 1, most of the respondents perceive BMW as more prestigious than the infinity
G20 in the market. Most people perceive Infinity G20 as a quite car and more reliable than most
of its competitors. However, BMW and Toyota Supra proved to be the best regarding reliability.
Customers think the infinity G20 in the best built car against its competitors. However, it doesn
t stand out regarding conformability and the ease of service. On an overall score, BMW, SAAB
900 and the Honda emerged as the most preferred on an average rating. 2.Infiniti promoted the G20
as a Japanese car (basic version $17,500) with a German feel, basically a car that was like the
BMW 318i ($20,000), but lower priced. Is this a credible claim, given the perceptions and
preferences of the respondents?
According to the respondents perceptions, the infinity G20 and
the BMW 318i are almost a like. BMW s attractiveness is slightly higher. Both cars fall into the
category of the best built cars. Subsequently, respondents think that the two

William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy Essay
William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy
This compact little book is Volume III of a series entitled A History of England, edited by Lacey
Baldwin Smith, and its inclusion in this series reveals much about its scope and intent. Smith
writes in the Preface to the series that their authors have tried by artistry to step beyond the usual
confines of a textbook and conjure up something of the drama of politics, of the wealth of
personalities, and even of the pettiness, as well as the greatness, of human motivation. Some of this
can be found in The Age of Aristocracy; some of it cannot. William B. Willcox s device for
covering the significant people and events of one hundred forty two years in only two hundred
thirty seven pages is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Willcox does discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the individual monarchs, but for the most
part these kings and queens are spectators; Willcox s real interest is in the politicians, and his
book works best when he manages to draw concise and important connections between such men
as Marlborough, Chesterfield, Walpole, and North, and the social forces that they harnessed to
get their jobs done. Lord Chesterfield, for example, is presented as the epitome of the eighteenth
century Gentleman; his letters of advice to his son Philip provide a standard by which Willcox
introduces the world of manners and form that provide the background for the rest of the book.
What Chesterfield saw was there, says Willcox, the love of form and style and the surface of life
(51). Most of these miniature portraits are very effective: Robert Walpole has an entire chapter
devoted to his era, and he provides a stable center through which to understand the dizzying political
problems of dealing with Hanoverian succession, the creation of British financial empires such as
the Bank of England and the South Sea Company, and the intricate relationships between peace,
foreign diplomacy, and their effect on British business interests. Two different William Pitts are also
well served, and the Younger is particularly interesting when shown to

War Plan Orange Plan Essay
War Plan Orange is one of the most extensively outlined plans of military use. It took over forty
years to be perfected. From the early 1900s through World War II, War Plan Orange developed
through different opinions from conflicting groups, the cautionaries and thrusters, and the changing
state of the world. In 1907, Roosevelt asked for a strategy to fight Japan. The General Board
defined the Orange Plan, in which Japan was Orange and the United Stateswas blue. In it, the
geography of Japan determined the strategy of the United States. Japan s remoteness would lead
them to easy victories at first, but then it caused them to be vulnerable to blockade. The United
States problem was how to get to Japan. Thrusters wanted rapid naval offensive across the
Pacific, while cautionaries insisted upon a slow campaign with proper bases. The United States
assumed a three phase war. In the first phase, Japan would strike suddenly. In the second phase,
the US Battle Fleet would move east and set up a blockade of Japanese trade in Guam, the
Philippines, etc., and in the third phase, the United States would create a tight blockade and use
air attacks to force Japan to sue for peace. No land invasion was ever suggested. In the second
period of planning, the Battle Fleet moved to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the fifth period of planning, 5 Rainbow Plans were drawn. They ended up leading to a
suggested defensive war in the Pacific. In 1941, Rainbow Plan 5 determined that the goal was the
beat Germany first. After Pearl Harbor, Nimitz took over naval operations in the Pacific, leading
to the first offensive in the Marshalls. Late in the war, it began to be suggested to invade Japan,
which was never a part of the Orange Plan. But, Truman dropped the bomb and no invasion

Social Conventions In The Stranger, By Albert Camus
Many abide societal expectations to justify their own actions; however, it is through their
submissiveness that heightens one s vulnerability as they cannot surpass the absurdities of life.
According to J.A. Cuddon, Man is born into a kind of void, a mud. He has the liberty to remain in
this mud and thus lead a passive, supine, acquiescent existence (316 7); therefore, one has the
choice to alleviate themselves out of their own misery or accepttheir stance in society. In The
Stranger, by Albert Camus, although both Raymond Sintes and Meursault violates social
conventions through their acts of violence, it is ironically through acknowledging their crimes that
critiques not only their own existence but also the empowerment of the French Civilization.... Show

accepting the revolver to use for self defense: The trigger gave;... I shook off the sweat and the
sun. I knew that I had shattered the harmony of the day, the exceptional silence of a beach where
I d been happy. Then I fired four more times at the motionless body...And it was like knocking
four quick times on the door of unhappiness (59). Meursault enters the doors of unhappiness after
he fired four more times at the motionless body . Despite being aware that he shattered the
harmony of the day , he accepts his crimes and the consequences he may endure because of it.
Unlike the French society that disregards all responsibility of imposing violence among the Arabs,
Meursault admits to his faults and surrenders himself to a lifetime of despair. Hence, through his
consciousness Meursault enlightens himself to defy social norms and continue to choose his own
path in life. Subsequently, Meursault embraces his consequences as he pleads guilty to his crime.
After being sentenced to death, Meursault experiences an epiphany as he realizes that it is through
hatred and condemnation from others that brings justice to his crimes: For everything to be
consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators

For every thing their is always a symbol resembling it. For example on the house on mango
street by Sandra Cisneros. The symbol is the house itself because in the story all she talks about
is how the house isn t the best house, but it s better than all the other houses she has lived in.
Another example would be the summer from The Flowers by Alice Walker . In the story there was
a girl who loses her innocence in childhood and how he story the house on mango street. The main

Gunpowder Essay
The Western military trajectory finds many of the impetuses for a military revolution stemming
from non Western stimuli. Innovations such as the composite bow (introduced by the Hyksos),
cavalry (accredited to Assyria and Persia), the stirrup (attributed to China), gunpowder (China),
crossbow (China), and cannons (China) have been attributed to non Western regions; however, it is
the Western militaries that exploited these innovations to their full deadly potential and in the
process created militaryrevolutions. This paper will discuss how some of these exploitations
affected the Western military trajectory during the Gunpowder and First Industrial Revolutions,
most often leaving the non Western militaries lagging behind. It will also... Show more content on

The French invasion of Italy was not only an early part of the Gunpowder Revolution and the
beginning of the modern age of warfare, but it was one of the first attempts at building nation
states. At the time, Italy was divided into several city states, sovereign regions formed by a city and
its surrounding territories. Due to the small size of many city states, their defense was turned over
to mercenary captains, condottieri. The paid men who formed compagnie (companies) under the
condottieri were most often foreigners who lacked loyalty to their paymasters. On the other hand,
as France expanded and took over city states such as Armagnac, Burgundy, Provence, Anjou, and
Brittany, they would become a part the French nation and its military. As such, King Charles VIII
became the leader of the most powerful state in Europe by advancing the nation state instead of city
states. Nearly one and a half centuries later, Swedish King Gustavus II Adolphus would further
advance the French artillery techniques and make modern modifications to the formation and
maneuver of his troops during the Battle of Breitenfeld in 1631 against Count Johann Tilly, an
Imperial commander. Tilly formed his forces in seventeen tercios, large formation of pikemen and
musketeers fifty men abreast and thirty men deep. This formation was deadly for everything in its

The Sports Energy Drink Industry
This case study written by Krupa Kansaru on the history of Red Bull and their success in making
the sports energy drink market what it is today has shown the key strengths of the company. The
obvious strength that the Red Bull company has a unique and early start in the sports energy drink
industry. CEO Dietrich Mateschitizin was quoted in the case study, he says that if we don t create
the market, it doesn t exists, this quote parallels with Red Bull as a whole. Starting in the 1980s
Red Bull used abstract marketingstrategies involving differentiation, word of mouth , and buzz
marketing to popularize the product instead of using a traditional approach by launching their
product and waiting to integrate it into mainstream media. Red Bull thrusted itself into
communicating with its customers and fan base by launching events, working closely with event
coordinators, and strategic product placement. Red Bull also holds much strength by associating
the product and brand with athletics and extreme sports. Targeting a younger generation and
portraying the idea of a fuller and freer life has proven to truly engage the popular culture and
counter culture alike. It is stated in the case study that Red Bull holds a seventy percent market
share in over one hundred countries statistics like that show the company s true strength especially
compared to competitors like Monster and Rockstar.

John Keats And The Romantic Period
BEAUY AND TRUTH AND THE GRECIAN URN
Dept. No: 15/PELA/031
John Keats is a romantic poet and he belongs to the Romantic Period. He was born in London and
was educated at a private school at Enfield, and at the age of fifteen he was apprenticed to a
surgeon. He lost interest in surgery, and the career of a poet became a bright possibility when he
made the acquaintance of Leigh Hunt, the famous Radical journalist and poet. When Keats was
about seventeen years old he became acquainted with Spencer, and this proved to be the turning
point in his life. The mannerism of Elizabethan immediately captivated him and he began to imitate
him. Keats health was already failing but the amount of poetry he wrote is marvellous, both in
magnitude and in quality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was, as we say nowadays, objective; it was concrete; it moved not in a world of philosophic
thought and abstraction, but in a world of imaginative realizations. It was purely and truly poetic;
and it turned towards the drama as the form which offered the most complete fulfilment of its own
nature. We shall find no deeper, nor any more transparent, phrase for the contents of Keats ideal
poetry than his own familiar words: the principle of beauty in all things. (Keats and Shakespeare 75
Murry)
This phrase is rightly and usually remembered in the form in which Keats wrote it to Fanny
Brawne soon after the haemorrhage which told him about its inevitable end. If I should die, said
I to myself, I have left no immortal work behind me, nothing to make my friends proud of my
memory, but I have loved the principle of beauty in all things, and if I had time, I would have
made myself remembered. It seems almost a sacrilege to anatomize words so lovely and

Anti-Communism During The Cold War

Wendy Wall, author of Anti Communism in the 1950 s, goes into a detailed description of the
effects of the red scare in society in the 1950 s. Two of the things constantly mentioned are the
Federal Loyalty Security Program and the House Un American Activities Committees.
Alexander Stafford, author of the article The Role of the Media During the Cold War, describes the
effects of McCarthyism. Stafford explains how McCarthyism originated and how its negative
connotation is the perfect example of corrupted power. This article fails to point out how exactly
McCarthy abused his power over the people however. It shows how the senator became the public

The Red Scare campaigns of the Western media were presented on every applicable media
source. The use of print with easily de codable and emotive images helped to redefine national
identity as a virtuous and patriotic America, against a dangerous and destructive socialist east.
The media distributed extreme propagandist slogans such as Better Dead than Red! This type of
politicized propaganda served to cause hysteria over communism and nuclear war (Bernhard). It
worked to subdue any domestic sympathy for the enemy or resistance to the conflict that usually
occurs during war. It was a calculated action to maintain public antagonism towards the enemy and
rejection of their political and economic policies. The media extended the propaganda to every
aspect of western life, from radio, film, television and print to even schools. The film Red
Nightmare was taught as part of the standard curriculum and is evidence of the media providing
state sanctioned indoctrination of the populace. This act of media manipulation to create mass fear
and paranoia cannot be undervalued, it was the conscious effort of the powerful to marginalize
unpopular opinion and spread the dominant agenda. It also assisted in the solidification and
polarization of cultural differences and reinforced political ideology

Unification of Italy and Germany Essay
Unification of Italy and Germany
By 1871 both the kingdom of Italy and the empire of Germany were united. Even though both
countries used popular trends to that time, both liberalism and nationalism, the process unifying
these two countries was very different. The end result was Germany emerging as a strong nation
and Italy appropriately, the weaker.
Italy s problems started with the fact that it didn t have one main ruler, but two people and a
concept, resulting in a different approach to the unification. Gulseppe Mazzini had a radical
program focusing on a centralized democratic republic based on universal suffrage and the will of
the people. Vincenzo Gioberti, who was a catholic priest called for a federation of existing states ...

One can ask can an Equal society exist? Is it possible?
According to the fact that everyone is different in many ways, it isn t possible for everyone to be

The Health Care Industry Affecting The Healthcare Industry
The patient population is mostly affected by the healthcare industry (Su et al., 2009). There are
many aspects of the healthcare industry that can affect the patient, but the cost is probably the
biggest concern of consumers. When consumers talk about health care cost, they mean how much
will cost them. Therefore, consumers use of healthcare has a direct relation to the out of pocket
expenses. The less the out of pocket the more the consumer will use the health care services. This
can drive to higher costs to the payer (health care insurance) which can raise then the health care
premium. The same expectation of paying the least possible drives the consumer to search for the
insurances that are more appealing in this respect. Employers as

Embracing Death:
A Rhetorical Look at Clendinen s The Good Short Life How does one want to die? That might be

Do people embrace death and live every moment to the fullest until it is their time to go? One
man, Dudley Clendinen, a writer for the New York Times, did just that. His article is about his

Law As A Member Of Congress Essay
Law in the United States is created by starting as an idea from many places including a Member
of Congress, a Members constituents, as well as the President of the United States or a private
group. A bill can also be introduced by placing it into the hopper during the active session of
Congress. The bills can be formed by either the Senate or the House of Representatives, except
for bills for revenue or appropriation which start in The House of Representatives. A bill will
either be private immigrations and naturalization, claims against the U.S., or public issues to do
with the public. Regardless of which house creates and presents the final proposed bill, the
process they follow is identical. The initial draft of the bill is written and the clerk will assign it a

congress and if approved by the majority vote, it is sent to the president where it is either signed

Distinctively Visual Elements In The Shoe Horn Sonata
Composers breathe life into their characters experience with aspects of distinctively visual
elements. John Misto effec6tively does this in his play The Shoe Horn Sonata (TSHS), a
remembrance for the women imprisoned during WWII. The play recounts on live television
about Bridie and Sheila s untold grief and stories and their loss of innocence at a young age and
the hopelessness they held. Likewise, David Douglas Duncan s Korean war photograph has
captured time to highlight fear and hopelessness the victims of the war held. These aspects are
done through the clever employment of visual techniques and engaging dialogue and as a result
of this, John Misto and David give life to the characters experience. Distinctively visual elements
employed by John highlights Sheila s recount of the tragic she was involved in and how
significantly she had been affected. Non diegetic sounds are heard to set the mood and create
tension and this effectively engages the audiences attention to what is going to unfold; this lets
John Misto bring Sheila s terror to life. Furthermore Sheila talks about the gloves she had worn
when she was leaving Singapore, always wear gloves, wherever you go... she expresses this to be
something a lady must have. The gloves symbolizes her innocence and purity that she had at a
young age and when she no longer had them, it meant she was no longer innocent, thus John Misto
uses this as a catalyst to show the character s growth and highlights visual elements

The Imbalance Between Uniformity And Diversity
To match beliefs about diversity with practice, it becomes necessary to address the imbalance
between uniformity and diversity. Australia is the biggest example of having multiculturalism. In
2011, the Census revealed that over a quarter (26%) of Australia s population was born overseas
and a further one fifth (20%) had at least one overseas born parent. This pattern of migration is
evident in the make up of the richly diverse society that has been recorded in the 2011 Census. This
diversity can be seen in the variety of languages, religions, ancestries and birthplaces reported by
Australians (Australian Bureau of Statistics 21 June 2102). Migration is social, cultural,

A child builds his basic life concepts at Primary age and when he is moved to a different
environment that never existed in his conceptual knowledge, it brings difficulty to him in

feeling neglected. Most of the immigrated students in Australia have different culture, different
religious beliefs and different language. Most sensitive dimension of diversity in schools is
different religious beliefs of the students. Equity in schools cannot be achieved by ignoring the
different religious beliefs of its students.
To claim equity in schools it is necessary to eradicate the social injustice issues with the students
having different religious beliefs. Talking about religious diversity in a classroom, here is an

Upon entering his classroom during homeroom period, Mr. Ortiz, an eighth grade teacher, noticed
several students crowded around two of their peers, Nikhil and Jasper. Nikhil was the boy who

arguing about something Nikhil was wearing. Mr. Ortiz asked the other student to explain the

Research Paper On Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Introduction Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a painful repetitive motion injury in the wrist that can
develop in one or both hands. The syndrome starts as a numbness in the palm and spreads to the
fingers that are innervate by the median nerve. If the condition worsens, pain can replace the
numbness and spread to the elbows and shoulders, effecting your activities of daily living. Carpal
Tunnel Syndromeis increasingly reported every year and tends to effects women more then men
due to pregnancy. Thankfully, it has many different treatment plans that can cure or help decrease
the pain in the afflicted extremities. This is a great relief and interest to many people who have
developed this syndrome. (1)

Wrist orthotics is based off of the theory that CTS symptoms would improve with rest and
relaxation of the muscles. If worn at night with little repetitive movement during the day, patient
have the chance to lessen their carpal tunnel pain. Studies have show that wearing a wrist othotic at
night for 12 weeks can 1) improve median motor action potential, 2) shorten nerve latency and 3)
increase median sensory velocity. However, it make no significant difference with your
performance with functional activities. After the six week mark, a wrist orthosis can alleviate the
pressure and promote regeneration of the median nerve.

legality of the court decision I agree with. The facts are simple as it relates to our laws. The court
understands that there is abuse in the workplace, but focusing on ministerial exceptions with the
use of the First Amendment at times can shield a organization such as this. The courts found that
the exception does not apply to employment decisions concerning individuals with administrative

Given the power that religious organizations have under Title VI I, how do you think
employment discrimination concerns can be addressed in the religious workplace? I feel
employment discrimination concerns can be addressed quite simply in the religious workplace
by implementing an organizational policy addressing ministerial exceptions and first amendment

with staff covering religious rights in the workplace I would give detail and clear guidance on
how to notify individuals and supervisor to make a discrimination complaint without retaliation.

Robert Cohn s Struggle for Respect in The Sun Also Rises
Jake Barnes: You re not an aficionado? Spanish waiter: Me? What are bulls? Animals. Brute
animals... A cornada right through the back. For fun you understand. (Hemingway, 67) Why does
everybody hate Robert Cohn? At the beginning of Hemingway s novel, The Sun Also Rises, Jake
Barnes, the story s point of view character, wants us to believe that he has at least some
appreciation for Cohn. He relates some of Cohn s life for us, how at Princeton he was a middle
weight boxing champ, how despite his physical prowess he had feelings of shyness and

than knocking Mike out, which he certainly is capable of doing, Cohn takes the abuse and sulks,
perhaps in the interest of preserving his interactions with Lady Brett. But Cohn is continuously
bad mouthed. The other characters make several anti Semitic comments, scoffing his Jewish
superiority. (166) And all through this, Brett Ashley doesn t give him the time of day! How can
this man be held so contemptuously by the others? Maybe because Cohn is the bull, not the

bulls come out, Jake remarks: Look how he knows how to use his horns...He s got a left and a

Alicia Donovan s My Life Essay
Alicia Donovan leans causally against the railing of her grandmother s porch, smoldering
cigarette in hand, watching the cars and passerbys going up and down Mount Pleasant Avenue in
Providence. A beat up Chevrolet with blasting rap music slows down and Donovan exchanges
good natured insults with the four or five boys inside. Teasingly, she makes and obscene gesture
and the car takes off up the street, leaving the air thick with the distinct smell of muffler smoke
and the fading strains of DMX. As they disappear out of sight, she shakes her head and chuckles
slightly, obviously struck by some funny thought that she s not about to share. Watching this
nonchalant blonde, no one would ever guess she carries the stigma of a childhood marked my
tragedy and trauma. Alicia looks right at home in front of the shabby, grey tenement which she
shares with her grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Unlike most of the girls today, she s not
trying to be trendy or fashionable. She has on a plain white T shirt, worn from unsuccessful
attempts to get out its numerous stains, and a pair ofjeans which are slightly ripped in the knees.
Turning her attention away from the view, she runs her hands through her tousled hair and drops
into one of the porch s slightly rusted aluminum chairs. Well let s do this, she says with a good
natured shrug, so whatcha got for me? Alicia wipes the trademark grin off her face and gains a

A Biblical Study of Spiritual Gift of Tongues Essay
Continuists argue that the spiritual gift of tongues still continue today. To understand this fully, we
need to remind ourselves of the primary purpose of the spiritual gifts and the spiritual gift of
speaking in tongues. Donald W. Burdick refutes the argument of the cessationists using I
Corinthians 13:8. According to him, we must notice, however, that this verse does not say that
tongues were to cease at the end of the apostolic age. However, he also concluded that healings,
tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, and other gifts which may have been objectively
miraculous in nature fade not due to the sagging spiritual life of the church as claimed by the
Pentecostals, but because they have fulfilled their purpose.
Argument 3: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There, the people are willingly giving their lives away for the Gospel enduring beatings and
hardships, imprisonments and poverty. The Church in these places is more like the Church in
Smyrna [Rev 2:8], where believers suffered and died for the faith. It is surely unjust to class them
with the Laodicean church. What is true that during every age, the Seven Churches provide
examples and warnings to the Body of Christ as types of faithfulness and failure.
Conclusion
Spiritual gift of tongue is surely an interesting topic. A thorough study of this topic must be
explored by the church to understand fully its biblical meaning, purpose, characteristics,
regulations, and life. Each believer of the church must understand this doctrine so that they will be
armed in battle or spiritual warfare. This gift was given to the church by the God through the Holy
Spirit at Pentecost, the birth of the church, to validate the apostles as the messengers of God, with
God s message. It is also verified by various sources cited above that the glossolalia, or the tongue
speaking meant by Paul in his epistles were literal language known to man, a foreign language that
may not be known to the speaker that s why an interpreter who has the gift of interpretation has to
be present each time it happens to interpret the utterances, thus, this is not a result of ecstatic

society. Obstructive sleep apnea is undiagnosed mostly in women being 92% and 80% in men.
The estimated prevalence in women is 2% and in men is 4%. A study was done by the

Another study called The Wisconsin Cohrt study showed that people who are 30 to 60 years old,

it had every attempt before that. The close bond my male counterparts on the robotics team were

Electronic Health Records ( Ebd )
Electronic Health Records (EHRs) is another version of a patient s medical history, that is
maintained by the healthcare facilities or provider over time, and may include all of the key
administrative clinical data relevant to that persons care under particular healthcare facilities,
including demographics, progress notes, medication, x rays, surgical history, and etc.(CMS,2012).
While the adoption of the electronic health recordsystem seems promising for the healthcare
community and having a positive impact on the HIM field with better care and decreased in
healthcare cost, and other promising aspects. However, poor EHR system design and improper
use can cause EHR related errors put at risk to honesty of the information in the EHR; causing or
leading healthcare facilities and hospital to break that confidential bond they have with the patient.
This will cause EHRS to have errors that endanger patient safety or decrease the quality of care
that the patients expect from the hospital or healthcare facility (Bowman, 2013). In the paper I will
discussed the topics along the lines like managing the Transition from Paper to EHRs, EHRs to
redefine the role of doctors, and other ways how EHRs impact will have on the HIM community.

Essay about George Babbitt of Sinclair Lewis Babbitt
George Babbitt: Image of a Presbyterian
In Babbitt, Sinclair Lewis portrays religion as a corrupt business. In fact, he emphasizes this by
focusing on his main character George Babbitt. George Babbitt is characterized as a businessman
in Zenith. He is a man preoccupied about his reputation and his image before the main leaders of
the town he lives in. Lewis creates a hypocritical figure for Babbitt through his reasons for being a
Presbyterian. He says that if you were to question Babbitt about his religion he would say, My
religion is to serve my fellow men, to honor my brother as myself, and to do my bit to make life
happier for one and for all (199). Of course, if you heard this from Babbitt you would ... Show more

His participation within his religious denomination was his stepping stool. Chum Frink and
Mr.Eathorne accepted Babbitt because of his proposals for the Sunday School. He wanted to divide
the school into four armies with militaristic characteristics. This would help the children feel as if
they were doing something worthy. Secondly, he insisted on improvement of the advertising
committee (Lewis 207). This goes to show you how businesslike the Sunday School was becoming.
Babbitt was only thinking of business morals and forgetting the religious morals.
Lewis also draws an image of George Babbitt s sanctimoniousness through his idea of Hell. We
see Babbitt s hypocrisy when he says, if one was a Bad Man, that is, if he murdered or
committed burglary or used cocaine or had mistresses or sold non existent real estate, he would
be punished (199). Notice how everything Babbitt mentions at the time is something he has not
done, however as he continues to live his life he eventually pulls a crooked real estate deal and
begins to cheat on his wife, Myra. Babbitt s flirtatious character is seen when he dates several
women and is careless because of his wife s absence. Lewis practically points out Babbitt s
hypocrisy through his failure to comply with his own criteria of who does and who does not go to
Hell.

Some Information about Rational Expectations Theory
The theory of rational expectations is particularly important for workers ideological of national
security , because it is derived from the consequences of the assumption that reaches people in
social policy in a rational way , and some of the consequences of its flavor from the ideological

Research has shown that the relevant bargaining in fashion that can be seen as rational from the

One way to link an individual to work with the principle of rational thought is an argument of the
social contract . The basic idea , which goes back to Thomas Hobbes (2) , is that rational individuals

is chaos , that life solitary , poverty and filth , irrational , and short . Most importantly , it will
continue to comply with the agreement , because (according to Hobbes ) it will install voluntarily
and authoritarian government , which gives them an incentive strong to do so.

The Mormon faith otherwise known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was

However, Mormonism receives a heavy amount of criticism due to the fact that Smith told his

Causes of the French Revolution Essay
Causes of the French Revolution There is no doubt that the French Revolution has had a profound
effect on the world. The cause or causes of it have been greatly disputed. Clearly the Revolution s
primary cause was the presence of a weak monarchy and a lack of a stable system of government.
France s absolute monarchy had many changes toward the end of the eighteenth century. Louis
XIV, in his attempts to centralize his authority and also lessen the power of the aristocrats, had
planned out an intendant system. The intendants were like governors. They would oversee one
region of the country. These intendants did not govern the region in which they lived and were

There were three divisions or classes in France. These classes were called estates. The first estate
which was composed of church officials, had great power and obtained enormous salaries.
Church officials obtained their salaries via taxes collected from church property. Therefore, since
the officials received their salaries from the church property, they did not have to pay taxes. The
second estate was mainly composed of nobility. They too were exempt from paying taxes. This
left the tax burden upon the third estate. The third estate consisted of some merchants and
entrepreneurs; however, the majority were peasants. Corruption of the estates was causing much
frustration among the common people who composed 70 percent of the population. The
monarchy tried to make an attempt to give the third estate power. The monarchy established the
Estate s General. This too, was corrupted. Unlike most legislative bodies, the Estate s General did
not vote by each person having a single vote. Rather, they let each estate have one vote each.
Since the first two estates were always in agreement, the third estate was always out voted. This is
a prime example of how the lack of a stable government had an immensely tragic effect on the
people of the country. If the monarchy had tried to make some reform or if Louis XVI had more
backbone to institute some tax reform to lessen the burden on the third

Direct Cinema Essay
Direct Cinema
The term direct cinema was coined by American director Albert Maysles, to describe the style of
documentary that he and his contemporaries were making in the 1960s as a result of a lightweight,
portable 16mm camera and high quality lightweight audio recorders becoming available. The
introduction of these, together with film stock which was sensitive enough to give a good quality
close up monochrome picture under most lighting conditions
(Including hand held lights) led to a revolution in Documentary filmmaking, allowing film crews to
be much more flexible. Gone were the days of bulky, virtually immobile 35mm cameras; now
manufacturers improved their 16mm stock and accepted it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ideal subjects for documentaries according to the direct cinema ethos were:
1) A person who is interesting;
2) A person who is in an interesting situation which s/he cares deeply about;
3) A subject where a conclusion can be arrived at in a limited time; and
4) A subject where there is easy access to events.
The group believed that the cameraman, the director and the sound recordist were all equal in
status and were all film makers, playing a role in an integrated process. They felt that the filmmaker
s relationship with the subject was personal and one of equality, and that an audience was active in
its engagement with the film. Direct cinema practitioners wished the audience to be presented with
sufficient evidence to enable them to make up their own minds and not be mere passive observers.

At first, you might interpret that Squeaky is not nice at all when she is really, is a confident girl
who does not like to be a chicken. This takes place in New York City on 34th street. When
Squeaky is walking down Broadway with Raymond, her brother, all of a sudden she sees Gretchen
and her sidekicks. Gretchen and her nasty sidekicks like to tease Raymond because Raymond has
mental disabilities.

where she and five other girls are gonna race 50 yards. Squeaky is talking to the person who is
coaching the race about the race. Squeaky feels very confident that she is going to win the race
against Gretchen, and four other girls. There are three main people in the scene. One. The coach
who is coaching the 50 yard dash, two, Gretchen who is also participating in the same race with
Squeaky. Finally, three, Raymond, who is going to chant and help Squeaky by cheering her on
with her race. When Squeaky is talking to the coach it seems like she is a little angry at the
coach.Squeaky is getting ready for the race and the race official wants Squeaky to purposely
lose the race, so she can give someone else a break. Well Hazel Elizabeth Deborah Parker, gonna
give someone else a break this year? I squint at him real hard to see if he s seriously thinking I
should lose the race on purpose just to give someone else a break. Page 33. Line 235 239.

she s a little angry at the coach or person that asked her to lose the race on purpose. This takes

The Sower, By Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent Van Gogh was a man in crisis during the late 1880 s. In his painting The Sower, the
person planting the seeds is wearing all black and has no face. Painting someone in all black is a
representation of Van Gogh s sorrow. Not giving the sower a face is a way of expressing that
Van Gogh may think that he has no soul or identity, that he is not deserving of one. A person
who was not in crisis would have given the person some character, using vibrant colors to display
their emotions and expressions. In the article, Van Gogh s Life , Van Gogh says, The orchards
stand for pink and white, the wheatfields for yellow. He has identified each season and subject with
a color. There is not much detail in his painting. The color association to

The Wars of Religion Essay
Politics and religion in the world of today aren t subjects that generally go hand in hand in our
own society. This was not always the case however; in Europe the two were synonymous up until
relatively recently, (recently meant in the loosest sense of the word,) and are still closely tied in
foreign parts of the world, the most obvious example being the Middle East. The duos intimate
relationship was exemplified during the late sixteenth century, extending into the seventeenth
century, during a series of wars which would later on come to be called the wars of religion. But
is this title completely appropriate? For wars claiming to be centered on religion, they seem to
carry an awfully heavy load of political baggage. In fact, one... Show more content on

She simply made alliances with the less threatening of the enemies (the Huguenots, and the Guises)
whenever it suited her, disregarding her Catholic religion at times to escape a heavily Guise
influenced monarchy, as well as risking the aforementioned when the protestants seemed to be
gaining major influence. These alliances were purely political, and were angled towards getting rid
of the largest threat of the moment. Originally, honoring her alliances with the Huguenots,
Catherine enacted the Edict of January which allowed the Huguenots to worship in private outside
of towns. This; however, was quickly disregarded when the Duke of Guise slaughtered a
congregation of worshiping Calvinists in a permitted area. This was brick that broke the camel s
back, marking the official start of the French War of Religion. Subsequently, the bloodiest and most
violent of conflicts followed as well as the assassination of the duke of Guise, paving the way for the
Peace of Saint Germain en Laye and ending the brutal fighting. Following these events, the
Huguenots began to steadily gain influence, entertaining the notice of Catherine. Unhappy about
the situation, Catherine set to convincing her son, Charles, that the Huguenots were planning a
coup. Fearful of losing the crown, Catherine, with the help of the Guises, hastily ordered the Saint
Bartholomew s Day Massacre, causing the death of twenty thousand Protestants

Speech On Smoking
A Breath of Fresh Air
Even after people know what these substances can and will do to their body, people keep taking
it and in the process, they slowly destroy their bodies every day just so they can feel good for
some number of hours. Some of those people get so addicted they lose jobs, friends, homes and
even family smoking these toxic chemicals. The smoke you put in your lungs starts to break
down tissues there and other body parts and can lead to serious or even fatal diseases. I could go
all eternity without ever smoking or doing any drugs of any kind and never be bothered about it.
Even teens who get dared to smoke at a party can really destroy their bodies. The harmful toxins
break down their bodies and causes diseases for them later in their life. Smoking causes 90% of
deaths from lung cancer, around 80% of deaths from COPD, and around 17% deaths from heart
disease. Sadly, most people don t realize the damage just one cigaret can have on your body.
Every drag you take on the cigaret raises you blood pressure and heart rate. Teenagers that smoke
at the age of 15 are three times more likely to die from cancer than someone who starts smoking
in their mid 20s. For this reason, smoking as a teen can permanently damage your body and
smoking can even kill young adults or give them intense diseases later on in their life.
If you have ever seen a long term smoker before and after their years of smoking, you ve seen first
hand the damage they do to the outside of

Dangerous Liaisons By Claudia Moscovici
Nakia was in a relationship with a psychopath. A person with a psychopathic personality lacks
the ability to love or establish meaningful relationships. A psychopath is a predator who pretends
to love you in order to lure you into his deadly game of power, control, and manipulation. The
man who Nakia thought was her knight in shining armor turned out to be a nightmare.
Throughout their relationship, he emotionally abused her, held a gun to her head, criticized her
weight, made false accusations, cheated, called her names, and physically assaulted her during
pregnancy. A psychopath seeks to destroy your self worth and self esteem through cruel and
methodical mind manipulation. In her book, Dangerous Liaisons: How to Recognize and
Escape from Psychopathic Seduction, Claudia Moscovici writes about psychopaths and how
they seduce women. She reveals the process of psychopathic seduction: Idealize, Devalue, and
Discard. Let s examine Nakia s abusive relationship using the Idealize, Devalue, and Discard
phases, so we can observe how a psychopath operates. 1.Idealization Phase During the
Idealization Phase the predator lures you in with the promise of love He s a charmer, seducing
you with sweet whispers so you can t see him for who he really is: a cold blooded slithering snake
waiting to sink his fangs into your self esteem and feed off your soul Nakia says during the
honeymoon phase of their relationship, her abuser was charming, chivalrous, and romantic. He

Artificial Intelligence Is More Complicated Than The...
Question #1 Artificial Intelligence is far more complicated than the mechanical process of
thinking. There are multiple things in these world from phones to computers that can be
considered Artificial Intelligence. However, the description for an A.I. vary dramatically due to
the fact that intelligence itself is not easy to describe design within itself. The Touring test states
that you could have an imitation game going on with a computer and if you do its considered to
have intelligence. To counter act that point, if one can only imitate and copy someone else s
thoughts and patterns is it considered to be its own entity? Indeed, using language as the bases
of intelligence is a good step however it does not answer the conception of a mind. Artificial
Intelligence can imitate but since it cannot create its own distinctive answer, therefore Lady
Lovelace state that it is lacking conscious and cannot be the basis of a mind. If we look at a
human mind, one can input data from various sources and create mental images that our sentient
mind can handle and process appropriately. With that in mind, we sound and process exactly like
a computer or an intelligent program, where we differentiate from is how we make an output.
This is where the scale for a weak A.I. and a strong A.I come into play. A weak A.I. can input data
per its program but that is where it is limited, while a Strong A.I. can use think for itself possible
outside its program. For Example, a human can be on a train

William Shakespeare s The Man From Stratford On Avon
The debate of the true authorship of Shakespeare is one that has been argued for centuries. While
there are various theories to suggest that William Shakespeare, the man from Stratford on Avon was
not the true author of the plays produced within his lifetime, one theory in particular seems to hold
the most concrete evidence. The authorship theory about Edward de Vere, Seventeenth Earl of
Oxford seems to have the most historical evidence proving that he is the writer of the plays and
sonnets under the pseudonym William Shakespeare. Looking at DeVere s personal life, one can see
how his social status and access to higher education would have made it more credible for him to
have written such literary masterpieces. Various circumstances of historical fact found about de
Vere s life are mirrored in the circumstances and relationships found within the works of
Shakespeare. The rich settings in which many of the plays are set include traditional and
historical details that could not have been available to anyone who did not travel to these places
themselves. Lastly many of the biblical passages and allusions found in the work of
Shakespeare are also found in the Bible that de Vere had his personal marks. There are too many
historical facts found about DeVere that coincide with the plays of Shakespeare that cannot be
brushed aside as coincidence. This essay will aim to show how these historical facts lead to solid
proof that Edward DeVere was in fact the true author of the works

Essay On Critique Of Pure Reason By Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant s Critique of pure reason aims to question and evaluate what is ultimately real, and
to discover the restrictions and scope of pure reason. The main doctrine within the critique being
the idea of transcendental idealism, concerning epistemology. Kant s doctrine aims to show that
humans can only construct knowledge from their senses. This opposed the previous views of Rene
Descartes idealism and George Berkley s complete denial of the existence of matter. Universal
concepts which Kant regards as categories then filter the senseimpressions we receive. Kant s idea
of the noumenal plays a key role when understanding the notions within the Critique and is
ultimately a very helpful way of helping us understand why we think the way... Show more content

For example, what colour is the noumenal realm? If it has a colour and is red for example, we are
applying human concepts like colour. If has no colour, we are still applying human concepts of it
having no colour or not being red . Thus, one of them must involve itself in the noumenal realm, as
a third description between colour and not having colour is impossible. It either has a colour or
does not. In my opinion, Kant can overcome this weakness within the argument for noumena by
using the distinction between positive and negative predicates. Kant could hold that the noumenal
realm can only have negative predicates and as such human ascriptions become less

The Dominance of Microsoft’s Xbox 360
The Dominance of Microsoft s Xbox 360
The video game market has slowly and steadily created a larger presence for itself in the
entertainment industry. The largest part of the market s recent growth (from 2005 to the present) is
undeniably due in part to the video game console created by Microsoft called the Xbox 360.
Microsoft was the first company to release what is called the current generation console, and
successfully beat Sony out of the gate. Prior to the release of the Xbox 360, Sony had dominated the
market with their console, the PlayStation 2. It is because of Microsoft s ongoing innovations to
enhance player interactivity and large game catalogue (especially those with record breaking sales)
is why they are the dominant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Kubba) This amount of money is unheard of when it comes to music or film. In comparison,
the top most grossing films are Avatar and Titanic. (Internet Movie Database) The film Avatar
earned $760 million within three years, and Titanic earned $658 million within six years, all of
which are comprised of film earnings at the box office and home video recordings like DVD or
Blu ray. The technology created by Microsoft for their Xbox 360 is the first of its kind. A perfect
example is a device called the Kinect. This device utilizes a microphone and multiple cameras to
enhance gamers experience, especially for game titles like Dance Central. Kinect utilizes motion
detection in order to spot interaction and display it on the screen accordingly. Another function for
the device is voice recognition. Rather than using a controller, the player can simply speak the
commands and the Xbox will do the said action. But the use for the Kinect has also extended far
beyond its gaming origins, spurring advances in medical treatment. (Knight) Using the Kinect for
real world applications, including making medical diagnoses or three dimensional modeling was an
unintended side effect of the Kinect when it was released. At first, Microsoft seemed hesitant to
allow people to use the Kinect for something outside of gaming, but soon it was apparent that it
could be used

Mcdonald s A Competitive Advantage
SYNOPSIS
In the United States, the fast food market provides consumers quick meals at a reasonable cost. It
has grown significantly in recent years with an 8.7% average annual growth rate throughout the
1980 s. The concept of the industry, providing healthy alternatives to traditional fast food and being
environmentally sound is the latest example how consumers affect the industry. The companies
must be able to change very quickly in order to meet these customer demands and the changing
environment while still conforming to its strategy. For an example, consider McDonald s
Corporation; it is a company that has been able to remain true to its philosophy and still be able to
adapt to the market situation. The resources and capabilities the company has assembled has
allowed it to be a consistent top performer even in a market that is competitive. This paper discusses
several capabilities and resources that provided McDonald s a competitive advantage: food
innovations, customer satisfaction, regulatory standards, intensive training program, quality
products, franchisee relationships, and supplier relations. By applying the VRIO theory to the
information discovered in the case, it was determined that the resources and capabilities that
McDonald s possessed in the 1990 s allowed it to gain a sustainable competitive advantage which
lead to industry success throughout the years.

Essay Laws Restricting the Paparazzi
The paparazzi a fusion of the Italian words papatacci, meaning gnat and razzi meaning the
popping of flashbulbs. It is also known as aggressive photography. The word paparazzo was
coined by Federico Fellini, the name he gave to a prying society cameraman in his 1959 film La
Dolce Vita . Paparazzi photographers are fueled by large sums of money offered by the tabloid
press. They try to catch the rich and famous in unflattering situations.
The new breed of journalism grew by leaps and bounds after the Watergate scandal first broke in
Washington, DC (Petersen s, 57). At first the paparazziwere an annoying group of photographers

The bill states that harassment would be considered persistently physically following or chasing a
victim, in circumstances where the victim has a reasonable expectation of privacy. The way that is
defined, victims can sue the police department if they were videotaped harassing a suspect like the
Rodney King videotaped beating.
After Bono s death, Rep. Elton Gallegly, a California Republican, offered H. R. 3224, a more
carefully defined version of Bono s proposal (Quill, 27). Bono s widow succeeded her husband to
keep the Bono name on H. R. 2448. There are many bills being made to stop the most aggressive
of the paparazzi but many take away from the first Amendment, freedom of speech.
Sen. Feinstein s bill, S.2103, differs from the House bills because it also provides for civil actions
against members of the press for use of high powered lenses, microphones, or helicopters used to
trespass for commercial purposes. This provision attempts to supplement existing laws of trespass,
creating a new legal cause of action for new forms of trespass made possible by modern
technology. Victims can recover compensatory, and punitive damages and may also seek injunctive
and declamatory relief (Quill, 21).
All three paparazzi bills H. R. 2448 and 3224 in the House, and S. 2103 in the Senate would, in
their own way, create new criminal and civil penalties for commercially motivated invasions of

  • 2. Essay on Voter Habits Based on Demographics Voter Habits Based on Demographics Abstract In this paper I intend to evaluate the voting habits of the American public. I will look at how race, sex, education level, marital status, income level, current employment status, and age affects whether or not people vote. I am also going to examine which political parties these groups have historically voted for, why they vote for them, how this has changed over the years if it has changed at all, and why it has changed. I believe that from previous voting information you could fairly well predict the voters choices. I m not saying you could foretell the outcome of upcoming elections, but you could figure out what to expect given the state of current affairs. I find this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This difference is made up of people who do not have United States citizenship. This is important for the consideration of racial and ethnic differences in voting rates. Immigration has affected the non citizen population of many groups. Only two percent of Non Hispanic whites are not citizens and six percent of Blacks are not citizens. This is in stark contrast to the thirty eight percent of Hispanics and thirty eight percent of Asians and Pacific Islanders who do not have citizenship. This can be seen in the nineteen percent of voting age Hispanics, Asians and Pacific Islanders who voted compared to the thirty percent of the voting age citizen population who voted. This is illustrated well in the following graph. The overall percentage of 18 and over citizens who voted in the 2002 congressional election was at the second lowest with the 1998 election being the lowest. There has been an increase in the overall number of people eligible to vote, but a decrease in the percentage that register to vote and the percentage of registered voters that do. I believe this comes from an increase in the sensationalism of the presidential elections that over shadows the congressional elections. The hype and prominence isn t present so it tends to slide by unnoticed. You can see this in the average difference of thirteen percent more voters in presidential elections since 1964. The people who do vote in these elections are the ones, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Individuals view Infinity G20 as a brand for success. Moreover, they think that it s more attractive as compared to its competitors. However, the BMW is the most prestigious and most quite, according to the perceptual map. SAAB is the most roomy and most quite car, according to the perceptual map. Also in Exhibit 1, most of the respondents perceive BMW as more prestigious than the infinity G20 in the market. Most people perceive Infinity G20 as a quite car and more reliable than most of its competitors. However, BMW and Toyota Supra proved to be the best regarding reliability. Customers think the infinity G20 in the best built car against its competitors. However, it doesn t stand out regarding conformability and the ease of service. On an overall score, BMW, SAAB 900 and the Honda emerged as the most preferred on an average rating. 2.Infiniti promoted the G20 as a Japanese car (basic version $17,500) with a German feel, basically a car that was like the BMW 318i ($20,000), but lower priced. Is this a credible claim, given the perceptions and preferences of the respondents?
According to the respondents perceptions, the infinity G20 and the BMW 318i are almost a like. BMW s attractiveness is slightly higher. Both cars fall into the category of the best built cars. Subsequently, respondents think that the two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy Essay William B. Willcox s The Age of Aristocracy This compact little book is Volume III of a series entitled A History of England, edited by Lacey Baldwin Smith, and its inclusion in this series reveals much about its scope and intent. Smith writes in the Preface to the series that their authors have tried by artistry to step beyond the usual confines of a textbook and conjure up something of the drama of politics, of the wealth of personalities, and even of the pettiness, as well as the greatness, of human motivation. Some of this can be found in The Age of Aristocracy; some of it cannot. William B. Willcox s device for covering the significant people and events of one hundred forty two years in only two hundred thirty seven pages is to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Willcox does discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the individual monarchs, but for the most part these kings and queens are spectators; Willcox s real interest is in the politicians, and his book works best when he manages to draw concise and important connections between such men as Marlborough, Chesterfield, Walpole, and North, and the social forces that they harnessed to get their jobs done. Lord Chesterfield, for example, is presented as the epitome of the eighteenth century Gentleman; his letters of advice to his son Philip provide a standard by which Willcox introduces the world of manners and form that provide the background for the rest of the book. What Chesterfield saw was there, says Willcox, the love of form and style and the surface of life (51). Most of these miniature portraits are very effective: Robert Walpole has an entire chapter devoted to his era, and he provides a stable center through which to understand the dizzying political problems of dealing with Hanoverian succession, the creation of British financial empires such as the Bank of England and the South Sea Company, and the intricate relationships between peace, foreign diplomacy, and their effect on British business interests. Two different William Pitts are also well served, and the Younger is particularly interesting when shown to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. War Plan Orange Plan Essay War Plan Orange is one of the most extensively outlined plans of military use. It took over forty years to be perfected. From the early 1900s through World War II, War Plan Orange developed through different opinions from conflicting groups, the cautionaries and thrusters, and the changing state of the world. In 1907, Roosevelt asked for a strategy to fight Japan. The General Board defined the Orange Plan, in which Japan was Orange and the United Stateswas blue. In it, the geography of Japan determined the strategy of the United States. Japan s remoteness would lead them to easy victories at first, but then it caused them to be vulnerable to blockade. The United States problem was how to get to Japan. Thrusters wanted rapid naval offensive across the Pacific, while cautionaries insisted upon a slow campaign with proper bases. The United States assumed a three phase war. In the first phase, Japan would strike suddenly. In the second phase, the US Battle Fleet would move east and set up a blockade of Japanese trade in Guam, the Philippines, etc., and in the third phase, the United States would create a tight blockade and use air attacks to force Japan to sue for peace. No land invasion was ever suggested. In the second period of planning, the Battle Fleet moved to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1941, Rainbow Plan 5 determined that the goal was the beat Germany first. After Pearl Harbor, Nimitz took over naval operations in the Pacific, leading to the first offensive in the Marshalls. Late in the war, it began to be suggested to invade Japan, which was never a part of the Orange Plan. But, Truman dropped the bomb and no invasion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Social Conventions In The Stranger, By Albert Camus Many abide societal expectations to justify their own actions; however, it is through their submissiveness that heightens one s vulnerability as they cannot surpass the absurdities of life. According to J.A. Cuddon, Man is born into a kind of void, a mud. He has the liberty to remain in this mud and thus lead a passive, supine, acquiescent existence (316 7); therefore, one has the choice to alleviate themselves out of their own misery or accepttheir stance in society. In The Stranger, by Albert Camus, although both Raymond Sintes and Meursault violates social conventions through their acts of violence, it is ironically through acknowledging their crimes that critiques not only their own existence but also the empowerment of the French Civilization.... Then I fired four more times at the motionless body...And it was like knocking four quick times on the door of unhappiness (59). Meursault enters the doors of unhappiness after he fired four more times at the motionless body . Despite being aware that he shattered the harmony of the day , he accepts his crimes and the consequences he may endure because of it. Unlike the French society that disregards all responsibility of imposing violence among the Arabs, Meursault admits to his faults and surrenders himself to a lifetime of despair. Hence, through his consciousness Meursault enlightens himself to defy social norms and continue to choose his own path in life. Subsequently, Meursault embraces his consequences as he pleads guilty to his crime. After being sentenced to death, Meursault experiences an epiphany as he realizes that it is through hatred and condemnation from others that brings justice to his crimes: For everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution ... • 8. Gunpowder Essay The Western military trajectory finds many of the impetuses for a military revolution stemming from non Western stimuli. Innovations such as the composite bow (introduced by the Hyksos), cavalry (accredited to Assyria and Persia), the stirrup (attributed to China), gunpowder (China), crossbow (China), and cannons (China) have been attributed to non Western regions; however, it is the Western militaries that exploited these innovations to their full deadly potential and in the process created militaryrevolutions. This paper will discuss how some of these exploitations affected the Western military trajectory during the Gunpowder and First Industrial Revolutions, most often leaving the non Western militaries lagging behind. It will also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The French invasion of Italy was not only an early part of the Gunpowder Revolution and the beginning of the modern age of warfare, but it was one of the first attempts at building nation states. At the time, Italy was divided into several city states, sovereign regions formed by a city and its surrounding territories. Due to the small size of many city states, their defense was turned over to mercenary captains, condottieri. The paid men who formed compagnie (companies) under the condottieri were most often foreigners who lacked loyalty to their paymasters. On the other hand, as France expanded and took over city states such as Armagnac, Burgundy, Provence, Anjou, and Brittany, they would become a part the French nation and its military. As such, King Charles VIII became the leader of the most powerful state in Europe by advancing the nation state instead of city states. Nearly one and a half centuries later, Swedish King Gustavus II Adolphus would further advance the French artillery techniques and make modern modifications to the formation and maneuver of his troops during the Battle of Breitenfeld in 1631 against Count Johann Tilly, an Imperial commander. Tilly formed his forces in seventeen tercios, large formation of pikemen and musketeers fifty men abreast and thirty men deep. CEO Dietrich Mateschitizin was quoted in the case study, he says that if we don t create the market, it doesn t exists, this quote parallels with Red Bull as a whole. Starting in the 1980s Red Bull used abstract marketingstrategies involving differentiation, word of mouth , and buzz marketing to popularize the product instead of using a traditional approach by launching their product and waiting to integrate it into mainstream media. Red Bull thrusted itself into communicating with its customers and fan base by launching events, working closely with event coordinators, and strategic product placement. Red Bull also holds much strength by associating the product and brand with athletics and extreme sports. Targeting a younger generation and portraying the idea of a fuller and freer life has proven to truly engage the popular culture and counter culture alike. • 10. John Keats And The Romantic Period BEAUY AND TRUTH AND THE GRECIAN URN Dept. No: 15/PELA/031 John Keats is a romantic poet and he belongs to the Romantic Period. He was born in London and was educated at a private school at Enfield, and at the age of fifteen he was apprenticed to a surgeon. He lost interest in surgery, and the career of a poet became a bright possibility when he made the acquaintance of Leigh Hunt, the famous Radical journalist and poet. When Keats was about seventeen years old he became acquainted with Spencer, and this proved to be the turning point in his life. The mannerism of Elizabethan immediately captivated him and he began to imitate him. It was, as we say nowadays, objective; it was concrete; it moved not in a world of philosophic thought and abstraction, but in a world of imaginative realizations. We shall find no deeper, nor any more transparent, phrase for the contents of Keats ideal poetry than his own familiar words: the principle of beauty in all things. (Keats and Shakespeare 75 Murry) This phrase is rightly and usually remembered in the form in which Keats wrote it to Fanny Brawne soon after the haemorrhage which told him about its inevitable end. If I should die, said I to myself, I have left no immortal work behind me, nothing to make my friends proud of my memory, but I have loved the principle of beauty in all things, and if I had time, I would have made myself remembered. Two of the things constantly mentioned are the Federal Loyalty Security Program and the House Un American Activities Committees. Alexander Stafford, author of the article The Role of the Media During the Cold War, describes the effects of McCarthyism. Stafford explains how McCarthyism originated and how its negative connotation is the perfect example of corrupted power. The use of print with easily de codable and emotive images helped to redefine national identity as a virtuous and patriotic America, against a dangerous and destructive socialist east. The media distributed extreme propagandist slogans such as Better Dead than Red! This type of politicized propaganda served to cause hysteria over communism and nuclear war (Bernhard). It worked to subdue any domestic sympathy for the enemy or resistance to the conflict that usually occurs during war. It was a calculated action to maintain public antagonism towards the enemy and rejection of their political and economic policies. The media extended the propaganda to every aspect of western life, from radio, film, television and print to even schools. The film Red Nightmare was taught as part of the standard curriculum and is evidence of the media providing state sanctioned indoctrination of the populace. This act of media manipulation to create mass fear and paranoia cannot be undervalued, it was the conscious effort of the powerful to marginalize unpopular opinion and spread the dominant agenda. Even though both countries used popular trends to that time, both liberalism and nationalism, the process unifying these two countries was very different. The end result was Germany emerging as a strong nation and Italy appropriately, the weaker. Italy s problems started with the fact that it didn t have one main ruler, but two people and a concept, resulting in a different approach to the unification. John Misto effec6tively does this in his play The Shoe Horn Sonata (TSHS), a remembrance for the women imprisoned during WWII. The play recounts on live television about Bridie and Sheila s untold grief and stories and their loss of innocence at a young age and the hopelessness they held. Likewise, David Douglas Duncan s Korean war photograph has captured time to highlight fear and hopelessness the victims of the war held. These aspects are done through the clever employment of visual techniques and engaging dialogue and as a result of this, John Misto and David give life to the characters experience. Distinctively visual elements employed by John highlights Sheila s recount of the tragic she was involved in and how significantly she had been affected. Non diegetic sounds are heard to set the mood and create tension and this effectively engages the audiences attention to what is going to unfold; this lets John Misto bring Sheila s terror to life. Furthermore Sheila talks about the gloves she had worn when she was leaving Singapore, always wear gloves, wherever you go... she expresses this to be something a lady must have. The evening lecture held by Prof. Corbett gave an excellent introduction to the topic with his evening lecture by presenting Bellows mutual themes with the Ashcan School, due of them being the relationship between the artists and New York City. The mormon prophet and founder Joseph Smith found golden plates that introduced a previously unknown third section of the bible. • 40. Causes of the French Revolution Essay Causes of the French Revolution There is no doubt that the French Revolution has had a profound effect on the world. The cause or causes of it have been greatly disputed. Clearly the Revolution s primary cause was the presence of a weak monarchy and a lack of a stable system of government. France s absolute monarchy had many changes toward the end of the eighteenth century. Louis XIV, in his attempts to centralize his authority and also lessen the power of the aristocrats, had planned out an intendant system. The intendants were like governors. They would oversee one region of the country. These intendants did not govern the region in which they lived and were chosen from other than the aristocracy. This insured that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were three divisions or classes in France. These classes were called estates. The first estate which was composed of church officials, had great power and obtained enormous salaries. Church officials obtained their salaries via taxes collected from church property. Therefore, since the officials received their salaries from the church property, they did not have to pay taxes. The second estate was mainly composed of nobility. They too were exempt from paying taxes. This left the tax burden upon the third estate. The third estate consisted of some merchants and entrepreneurs; however, the majority were peasants. Corruption of the estates was causing much frustration among the common people who composed 70 percent of the population. The monarchy tried to make an attempt to give the third estate power. The monarchy established the Estate s General. This too, was corrupted. Unlike most legislative bodies, the Estate s General did not vote by each person having a single vote. Rather, they let each estate have one vote each. Since the first two estates were always in agreement, the third estate was always out voted. This is a prime example of how the lack of a stable government had an immensely tragic effect on the people of the country. Direct Cinema Essay Direct Cinema The term direct cinema was coined by American director Albert Maysles, to describe the style of documentary that he and his contemporaries were making in the 1960s as a result of a lightweight, portable 16mm camera and high quality lightweight audio recorders becoming available. The introduction of these, together with film stock which was sensitive enough to give a good quality close up monochrome picture under most lighting conditions (Including hand held lights) led to a revolution in Documentary filmmaking, allowing film crews to be much more flexible. The group believed that the cameraman, the director and the sound recordist were all equal in status and were all film makers, playing a role in an integrated process. The duos intimate relationship was exemplified during the late sixteenth century, extending into the seventeenth century, during a series of wars which would later on come to be called the wars of religion. • 47. Artificial Intelligence Is More Complicated Than The... Question #1 Artificial Intelligence is far more complicated than the mechanical process of thinking. There are multiple things in these world from phones to computers that can be considered Artificial Intelligence. However, the description for an A.I. vary dramatically due to the fact that intelligence itself is not easy to describe design within itself. The Touring test states that you could have an imitation game going on with a computer and if you do its considered to have intelligence. To counter act that point, if one can only imitate and copy someone else s thoughts and patterns is it considered to be its own entity? Indeed, using language as the bases of intelligence is a good step however it does not answer the conception of a mind. Artificial Intelligence can imitate but since it cannot create its own distinctive answer, therefore Lady Lovelace state that it is lacking conscious and cannot be the basis of a mind. If we look at a human mind, one can input data from various sources and create mental images that our sentient mind can handle and process appropriately. With that in mind, we sound and process exactly like a computer or an intelligent program, where we differentiate from is how we make an output. This is where the scale for a weak A.I. and a strong A.I come into play. A weak A.I. can input data per its program but that is where it is limited, while a Strong A.I. can use think for itself possible outside its program. For Example, a human can be on a train ... While there are various theories to suggest that William Shakespeare, the man from Stratford on Avon was not the true author of the plays produced within his lifetime, one theory in particular seems to hold the most concrete evidence. The authorship theory about Edward de Vere, Seventeenth Earl of Oxford seems to have the most historical evidence proving that he is the writer of the plays and sonnets under the pseudonym William Shakespeare. Looking at DeVere s personal life, one can see how his social status and access to higher education would have made it more credible for him to have written such literary masterpieces. Various circumstances of historical fact found about de Vere s life are mirrored in the circumstances and relationships found within the works of Shakespeare. The rich settings in which many of the plays are set include traditional and historical details that could not have been available to anyone who did not travel to these places themselves.
