Citizen Kane Citizen Kane brought the aspects of a newspaper tycoon in the 1940 s to life in a

Randolph Hearst and based off of some aspects of Orson Welles(Writer and Director). This filmed
has been named, The best American filmof all time due to the fact that, during the time of its
making, it was the first film to take on many new techniques of cinematography. Citizen Kaneis a

was based on Hearst, was a very controversial newspaper tycoon. This makes the film more
dramatic people there are characters that either love Kane or hate him. When Kane is caught in
a love nest with s ainger, many more people disapprove of him. Another aspect of this film is that
it is in black and white. This gives it a serious tone. The lighting they used also gave a dramatic
effect. There is a scene where two gentlemen are talking but you can see Kane dancing in the
reflection of the window. This reminds the audience that he is still important to the scene even
though he isn t directly involved. This In Citizen Kane, Welles is attempting to expose the great
influential political and social power that someone has as the head of many newspaper chains.

Summary Of Quotes From The Kite Runner
The first sentence of the quote foreshadows Amir s struggle to forget the past throughout the rest
of the book. He claims that no matter how hard you try or how far you bury it, the past will
always claw its way out . Also in this sentence, Amir implies an occurrence of a tragic event
without actually telling the readers what it was. In the last sentence Amir speaks of peering into
an alley later revealed as the alley where his childhood friend, Hassan, was raped. By saying this
he is telling the readers that the alley and the events that occurred in the alley are constantly on his
mind and have been on his mind for the past twenty six years. The fact that it has been twenty six
years also verifies the importance of the event. This was said... Show more content on

Baba tells Amir that the teacher is just jealous that Iran was a rising power in Asia. However
this quote applies to other parts of the book as well. Once Hassan is raped Amir pretends not to
know what happened because it is easier for him yet Hassan knows Amir watched. Amir says
this soon after witnessing Hassan s rape. He realized that the real reason he ran wasn t in fear of
Assef and the other boys but simply because it was the easier way out. Amir allows the rape to
happen in order to get the last kite, hoping that it would prove to Baba he was worthy of his
affection. He then says that the price of the Kite was Hassan and then compares him to the lamb
sacrificed on a Muslim holiday to represent Abraham s near sacrifice of his son to God. Baba
says this when an Afghan woman is about to be raped by a Russian as their ticket past the
Russian guards. Baba is standing up for the Afghan women. His actions are respectable however
Amir tries to stop Baba. Baba s actions are respectable and he does what he should however they
remind Amir of the rape. Amir realizes that Baba is doing exactly what Amir should ve done in
the alley but wouldn t. When Amir tries to stop Baba it s almost as if he wants his father and the
other people with them to share Amir s guilt so not to make him feel even

A Freelance Writer At Three Online Companies
Currently I am a contracted freelance writer at three online companies. I just began being paid
for writing this year. I joined one company in January, one in February, the third in March. They
are all considered content farms . The first two companies work relatively the same, the third is a
bit different in that it it pays in lifetime royalties. I have only wrote five articles for the third
company. They have the most astringent requirements and their articles are all 500 words, in third
person, and require writers to provide sources in the footnotes. The first two companies have you
write articles for your application in order to rate your quality. The first company I contracted with
recently upgraded my writingand I was not aware of it for a while. This action allows me a larger
pool of jobs to choose from.
The first two companies both have pools of categorized jobs a writer may choose from. You
may choose any job at your rating or lower. Unfortunately there s been great upheaval in my
personal life this year and it has greatly affected my on time stats. Thereby making my writer s
rating lower than what I am capable of. I have wrote all my life. Poems, lists, ideas, everything
really. I was a very nervous child and I stuttered and tripped over my tongue constantly however
put a pen in my hand and I can communicate smoothly, eloquently, and get my point across in a
clean concise manner. The ironic part is that I was born left handed with a step

Verizon Argument Analysis
Verizon has a new commercial where the whole ad is based on the slogan half fast internet. Go
ahead, say it out loud. The entire commercial s dialogue has various people, mostly families,
including a mother in front of her child, saying half fast instead of half a$$ed. Clearly, Verizon
hopes that a funny play on word expression, not normally allowed in commercials, will drive
sales. The idea of the commercial series is that most broadband providers have slow upload speeds,
making them only half fast. So, the actors in the commercial complain of the half fast job their
Internet is doing when they are posting pictures or music to the Web. The commercials are highly
amusing and certainly stick with the consumer whether they like or dislike the content. Many blogs
and posts on the internet express that Verizon should be more... Show more content on

A Framework For Continuous Auditing
A Framework for Continuous Auditing
Student: Jhona Blake
Instructor: Rajindralal Mohan Abstract
Continuous Auditing is a part of a company s internal control and is not implemented to replace
regular auditing. Continuous auditing primarily focuses on frequency of risk and the effectiveness
of internal control. Thus, continuing auditing is used to improve auditing organization, efficiency,
and add value to a company performance.
Continuous auditing is an essential tool in reducing waste, inefficiencies, and improve reliable,
relevant, timely financial evaluations. The current data analytic scripts which is used by many

That is why continuing auditing is vital to control and assessing risk automatically on a more
frequent basis. By increasing the frequency of internal audit, it adds value to business performance
and reduce risk of material misstatements. Thus, continuing auditing is crucial to the testing of
occurrence of a risk and the efficiency of an internal control. The necessity for continuous auditing
stems from the companies desires to establish effective internal control to analysis, trend on
accounts and to identify variances to alert audit team within the company to a possible issue.
Therefore, effective implementation of the audit procedures is essential to the objectives of the
company in controlling risks and assessing financial performance. Many organizations found it
difficult at first to implement continuous auditing processes because it is a continuing process that
grows as the company continue to use it. The continuous process initially project objective is
focused on developing a model and implementing processes to discover and analyze patterns,
identify anomalies, and extract other useful information in data (Shilts, March). After the initial
process the progressing step is to align the continuous auditing concept or model with the audits
policies and procedures. By creating a strong

Klinesmith, Kasser and McAndrew simultaneously studied the links between guns, (objects
associated with aggression), testosterone levels in males, and aggressive behavior. They
hypothesized that males who interacted with an object associated with aggression would have an
increase in both testosterone and aggressive behavior. To test this hypothesized they asked 30
college males to provide clean saliva samples before the experiment that would act as the baseline
measurement of testosterone. The participants were told the experiment was about taste sensitivity.
After the saliva sample was taken the males were asked to interact with either a gun, or a children

Psychological And Psychological Effects Of Advertising And...
Do you ever look around and notice a particular fashion style of those around you? Perhaps, you
ve noticed someone driving an expensive car and wonder to yourself what makes it worth all of
the money spent on it. We live in a consumer driven society in America today where everything
from the outfit you choose to wear to the car you drive is influenced by advertisement. Just how
much does it dictate our perception of life? I will be analyzing the staggering psychological and
societal effects that advertisers have over our culture today. I will be looking at advertisings origins
and showing how it developed to become one of the main contributors to what is considered to be
normal and desirable in American culture today. Advertisers have successfully employed methods
of psychologyto shape the minds of their consumers and construct a world that fattens their pocket
books while leaving the average consumer dumbfounded to the advertisement s effects. My goal is
to educate the consumer about these methods thereby empowering them to see past the façade
and decide for themselves what they need and want from the world.
History of Advertising
To truly understand the present the way advertising negatively affects American society, one must
look at its past. For as long as there has been money, there has been competition to obtain it.
Different methods have been employed in attempts to turn the consumer s attention towards a
product in hopes of getting some of this ever coveted money.

The Nation Of Islam And African Americans
The Nation of Islam was founded by Wali Farad in Detroit, Michigan in 1930. While Farad is
credited with the foundation, most of the teachings came from a different movement. It evolved
from the Moorish Temple of Science founded by Timothy Drew (Source 1). Drew preached that
Islam was the correct faith for African Americans. Drew also preached that African Americans were
superior to Caucasians. The Nation of Islam, along with being a religious movement, was a
movement for change. They wanted to raise awareness and create racial pride within the African
Americancommunity (Source 1). The Nation of Islam wanted to improve the lives of African
Americans, however, how they wanted to achieve that improvement was unacceptable. The Nation

Blood Libel is the belief that Jews kidnap children and use their blood in their rituals. The
controlling of the media and finances resemble Hitler s argument that Jews were after world
domination. These two examples of the Nation of Islam slandering Christianity and Judaism are
only two of the many examples of slander. The Nation of Islam created an us vs. them mentality.
This mentality is dangerous and can have disastrous effect on society. The hatred can lead to
conflicts and wars. Along with denouncing any religion other than Islam, they denounce anyone
that is not African American. This is the second reason that the movement was unacceptable. The
Nation of Islam used the teachings of Timothy Drew from the Temple of Science (Source 3). Drew
preached that African Americans were the superior race. He especially focused on their superiority
over the Caucasians. Drew also preached that the Caucasians were doomed because Jesus was a
black man who attempted to redeem the Black Moabites, only to be executed by the white
Romans (Source 3). These teachings influenced the Nation of Islam greatly and lead to their belief
in African American superiority. It is important for African Americans to feel a sense of pride,
however, that should not lead one to believe that they are better than others based off of their skin
tone. This prejudice leads to discrimination of other based on skin color. Instead of falling

Othello Is Essentially an Noble Character, Flawed by...
Othello is essentially an noble character, flawed by insecurity and a nature that is naive and
unsophisticated . Looking at William Shakespeare s Othello The Moor Of Venice, the central
character, Othello is revered as the tragic hero. He is a character of high stature that is destroyed
by his surroundings, his own actions, and his fate. His destruction is essentially precipitated by his
own actions, as well as by the actions of the characters surrounding him. The tragedy of Othellois
not a fault of a single villain, but is rather a consequence of a wide range of feelings, judgments
and misjudgments, and attempts for personal justification exhibited by all of the participants.
Othello is first shown as a hero of war and a man of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These instances heighten his nobility as a character. He is in great demand by the duke and
senate due to his honorable qualities. This is evidenced by Cassio s comment that the senate
sent about three several quests to look for Othello (I.ii.46). Othello is a noble man who is well
known and respected for his position as a general. He is experienced in battle and shows great
courage and demonstrates high levels of dignity. Othello shows immense respect for his fellow
man, we see this in his initial relationships with Casio an Iago. Othello s valiant personality is a
major part of his success in the military as well as with his marriage, to Desdemona. Because of
his exotic qualities, he is able to woo his wife in an art of story telling, reflecting his nobility and
honor. Such a storey seduces Desdemona, causing a strong bind to Othello made from a mixture of
love and lust. The Venetian government trusts Othello enough to put him in full martial and
political command of Cyprus; indeed, in his dying speech, Othello reminds the Venetians of the
service he has done their state (V.ii.348). However noble or revered by his peers Othello may be, it
is his honor, aided by his naivety and insecurity that lead to his destruction.
Othello s naivety can be noted down to his background. Culturally, he is

Compare and Contrast The Two Poems
Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea
I recently read two poems entitled Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea . They are both
similar in theme, but they also have many differences. Both poems are based on the emotions of
people who live near the sea and their feelings towards it. This theme relates to both of the authors,
and connects them; the author of The Fringe Of The Sea , A.L. Hendricks, was born in Jamaica
and later in life moved to Britain. Grace Nichols, author of Island Man , was born in Ghana and then
also immigrated to the UK.
Grace Nichols poem Island Man is about a Caribbean man who lives in London, but still longs for
his home and the sea. The poem follows the man as he wakes ... Show more content on

These lines use enjambment for the effect of the lines flowing into each other to make it seems
like the sea. The first half flows smoothly, as does the second half, except for the final word. The
letter S is used in both halves to bring them together to remind the readers of Islands Man
closeness to the sea. The letter H ( head ) is a break from the S s and therefore the rhythm is lost.
The third line ( to the sound of blue surf ) has alliteration of the letter S . The sound of this letter
is very much like that of the waves to remind the reader of the sea. To insure that this comes
across to the readers there is emphasis on these letters. There is also an emphasis on the word
head here to make the readers realize that it is only in Island Man s head, as he also realizes the
truth.
The fourth line uses two verbs, which have internal rhyme to make the line flow
easier (breaking and wombing). The first verb breaking suggests the repetitive and steady breaking
of the waves on the Caribbean sands. More evidence of this meaning the waves is the fact that the
line says the steady breaking and wombing which clearly illustrates the waves motion. The second
verb wombing is derived from the word womb ; therefore this connotes warmth, maternal love and
family. Island Man would connect all of these with his home, and he would connect

The Significance Of The Lincoln Memorial
The location selected for a monument is a significant factor to consider when contemplating the
creation of a monument. For instance the Lincoln Memorial was built on the National Mall, in
Washington D.C., a place that is practically a pilgrimage site , as said by Kirk Savage in his book

about a symbolic aura for the government. The Lincoln Memorial brings this aura by honoring

What Are The Long Term Causes Of The Great Depression
The Great Depression was a time in the U.S where the economy had dropped and the majority of
the population struggled with poverty. One of the long term causes of the Great Depression
was that there was no program to help aid the people because President Hoover believed in
rugged individualism, another long term reason of the depression was that the people had placed
money on the banks and the banks would share it for the stock market and usually didn t give it
back. Hoover was elected in 1928, he believed in rugged individualism, natural cycles, and

that trust and faith that everyone had lost because of the prior leader and the depression.
Furthermore, President Roosevelt had made a speech covering everything that he was willing

Persuasive Essay On Crosswalks
Summary
Since moving into the neighborhood about seven months ago, there are a lot of activities for the
residents to partake in. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger
children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes
at the end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One
thing missing in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and
more. What I am proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents
are safe when crossing the road.
Problem
A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to
where the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to
different activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The
problem is when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the
road. Currently there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a
major safety concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due
to the school bus dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Also, as this being unsafe
for residents this is also an unsafe condition for others such as, the families of residents,
maintenance workers, delivery drivers, etc. However,

Persuasive Essay On Having A Child
Growing up having kids is something that you simply assume would happen. It was never even
a question you always knew that one day you would be a parent and that having kids seemed
like a natural step in becoming an adult. Your thoughts are to meet someone, get married, and
eventually have children.Sometimes life doesn t work out that way. Many women have trouble
conceiving depending on age and how the body reacts to developing a child. Some people don t
have to try to get pregnant but others aren t so lucky they have to continue to try until your results
come out positive, so to speak. But trying to conceive and failing after many attempts can be
overwhelming and frustrating always trying to stay positive that this time will work. It s important
to start the process of finding out what test s you have to take to know if you re able to have
children; and what are options for infertility.
Many women feel hesitant to discuss their difficulties with conceiving and carrying babies to term,
fearing embarrassment, judgment from others, or simply other people s awkward or inappropriate
responses.10 percent of women (6.1 million) between the ages of 15 44 in the U.S. struggle getting
pregnant according to the (CDC) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

their are a number of things that can cause you to not get pregnant. It s a good idea for any women

Christianity And Its Impact On The Development Of...
Christianity was born and flourished in an empire where the common language was Latin and
Greek. Two important people like Paul and Constantine further influenced and were a major part of
the development of Christianity. The history of the Jews leading up to the time of Jesus had a
major impact on the development of Christianity. When Christianity was clearly identified as a
distant religion, the new religion was considered by its members to be the fulfillment of Judaism
rather than a new religion. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to the Jews, Christianity was
closely linked to Judaism. The development of Christianity was due to several historical, political,
and social circumstances.
The ministry of Jesus brought about a new religion: Christianity. Jesus teachings were apocalyptic
in that he preached the nearness of the Kingdom of God. He also taught, To love your neighbor as
yourself Mark 12:31[NIV]. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to Jews, Christianity was closely
linked to Judaism. Early Christian missionaries, being Jews, interacted at first with the Jewish
communities in the empire s cities. This was only natural and gave them common ground with
other groups in the provinces in which Jews were a minority. Among the Jews, however, resistance
to Jesus being the Messiah was often encountered, and early on, the Christians or the church gained
converts from non Jews. Christianity in its early stages used the Jewish synagogues, allowing it

Sectionalism Due to Western Expansion Essay
The Antebellum period from 1800 to 1850 marked a time of sectionalism in American history.
Furthermore, new territories gained during western expansion added to this conflict between
different sections of America. Southern states wanted new slave territories, while the North wanted
to contain the spread of slavery. While Western expansion contributed to growing sectional tensions
between the North and South from 1800 1820, sectionalism intensified significantly from 1820
1850. Since the turn of the nineteenth century, Western territorial expansion started to increase a
sense of sectionalism throughout America. President Jefferson obtained the Louisiana purchase

Any state admitted into the Union bellow this line would decide the legality of slavery for their
new state, by popular sovereignty. This temporarily maintained the balance of slave states and free
states in the Union, while increasing sectionalism throughout America. Neither the North or South
wanted the other section to have more states favoring their own slavery ideals, in fear of biased
representation in the Senate. Furthermore, sectionalism was demonstrated by the fact that congress
felt the need to implement The Gag rule ; This disallowed congress from discussing the issue of
slavery for the next thirty years (while only lasting a decade). Though members of the house tried to
pass the Wilmot proviso, which would ban slavery in newly acquired Mexican territories,
Southerners naturally opposed this. Disagreements over how to decide the newly acquired land s
position on slavery, further intensified sectionalism between the North and South. At one point the
South even tried to pass the Ostend Manifesto in an attempt to purchase Cuba from Spain, and
admit it into the Union as a slave state. Although this effort failed, it strongly represents the intense
sectionalism during the time: As an entire portion of the country acted autonomously to secure an
additional state to gain power over their Northern neighbors. Finally, the compromise of 1850 was
passed, declaring popular sovereignty as the determining factor of the position of slavery among the

Mary Ainsworth Attachment Theory
The first years are an important stage in an child s life. They are learning an abundance of
information about themselves and the people and world around them. During this time when there
is a great amount of development taking place, one of the major components is establishing some
sort of attachment with their primary caregivers. There are two different perspectives on the
attachment to consider. Those of John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth, who emphasized the
importance of infants creating relationships to have a healthy up bringing for later adulthood.

However, those who support the attachment theory believe children should be nurtured and cared
for, for them to function as mentally healthy adults. Certainly, Watson was concerned with
teaching parents how to produce a child who finally enters manhood so bulwarked with stable
work and emotional habits that no adversity can quite overwhelm him (Watson Watson, 1928,
p.10). As mentioned before, Watson s views on raising children was not the most ideal. Children
would not learn how to properly cope with life s challenges because they were ultimately left to
learn on their own, and no one can learn without being taught or influenced. In fact, Dickerson
and Kemeny (2004) refer to any form of neglect, rejection, criticism, and/or harsh parenting

The Declaration Of Independence And The United States...
The Declaration of Independence was a new beginning for the thirteen colonies, formerly a part of
the British empire. This document brought about a new understanding of how the country would be
run. The Articles of Confederation were adopted November 15, 1777 and remained the sole form of
government until it was replaced by the current United States Constitutionin 1788 for its lack of
efficiency in running the country. Federalists and Anti Federalists argued endlessly over the pros
and cons of the two documents. The questions that arise are is the Constitution a radical change
from the Articles or was it not so distinct? As well as, do both documents embody the Declaration
or does one document do more so? The United StatesConstitution, which holds truer to the
principles in the Declaration of Independence, is a radical change from the Articles of
Confederation. The Constitution was a distinct change from the Articles, but similarities between
the two do exist. Both documents were established by the same people. The Continental Congress
resided over the writing of both. Both documents refer to the country as The United States of
America. The Articles of Confederation state in Article I, The stile of this confederacy shall be The
United States of America (Continental 155). As well the Preamble of the Constitution addresses
citizens as ...People of the United States (Philadelphia 171). Both documents were considered the
official government of the United States, and

How Did Britain Contribute To The Industrial Revolution
Britain was the first country in the world to experience an Industrial Revolution. There are several
factors that contributed to the Industrial Revolution in Britain. In this essay, population increase,
agricultural revolution, transport revolution, British entrepreneurialism and growing overseas
markets will all be individually examined and a conclusion will be drawn about which of these
factors was the most crucial to the Industrial Revolutionand why that is the case.
One factor that was considerably important in the lead up to the industrial revolution was the huge
increase in the British population, which meant an increase in the need for work and labour.
Previously, mortality rates in Britain had been particularly high due to poor housing and sanitation,
among other things, which led to serious illnesses among the population. However, throughout the
1750s to the 1810s, the mortality rate had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bringing in goods from other countries widens the range of products available at home and makes
for a better standard of living. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the biggest export
coming out of Britain was wool (69%), however, during the Industrial Revolution the importance
of wool dropped considerably with the new focus being mainly on products such as iron and
cotton. With most of the imports coming into Britain being from the Empire, they consisted mostly
of things such as coffee, tobacco, tea, sugar, and cotton. The amount of raw materials being
imported into Britain in 1700 was 71%, while 1851 it had risen to a staggering 95%. The growth of
overseas markets was therefore significantly important as it created such a high demand for British
products which in turn allowed producers to sell their products on large scales, continuously
bringing money into Britain, therefore providing the money needed to complete the process of

Why Is Aeschylus Called The Most Superior Greek Drama
Aeschylus, one of the first Greek dramatists, was born between 525 524 BCE, during the period
that the Athenian government was evolving from a tyranny to a democracy. Throughout his whole
life, he would alternate between serving in the military and performing and writing dramas. Every
year, Aeschylus would attend the Great Dionysia, a competition where three dramatists would
perform their dramas or plays and would get ranked from first to third place. Out of his ninety
plays, he won thirteen first place awards. Which means that he won about 42 awards because each
tragedyentry consisted of four plays. He died at age 69 between 456 455 BCE. Aeschylus deserves

How To Get Credit For A New Business Case Study
How to get credit for a new business
Written by Janet Gershen Siegel
Do you know how a new business can acquire a business line of credit? As a new business, by
definition, you have no or little business credit history, so it could be difficult. When you ask:
What is the credit score of a new business? The answer is it s usually not so hot. But you can get
past that. Here are some ideas which will work.
Use your personal credit to get started
At some point, you will want to stop doing this, but at the beginning, you have got to get your new
business off the ground, and that means you will need developmental funding. This is funding to
do anything from paying a rental deposit for an office to purchasing a set of prototypes for a ...

No matter which kind of vendor you get trade credit with, be responsible and, of course, pay them
on time (and early, if you can swing that). Not only does that reinforce and maintain that
relationship, it also counts toward your credit score.
Be responsible with any credit you ve got, including personal
This may feel a bit like an obvious fact, but your use of currently existing credit will be what any
creditor (trade or banks, etc.) will use to ascertain if you can pay your bills on time and are,
therefore, what is considered a good credit risk. Suddenly squandering all of your personal credit
at the tables in Vegas is not going to endear you to future lenders. New companies in particular,
no matter how cautious they are, are generally evaluated as the full credit package. That is, both
personal and business credit scores are under consideration. If you look like a bad credit risk on the
personal credit side, you ll appear, to future lenders and creditors, to be an equally poor credit risk
on the business side of things.
Establish your business under IRS rules
And finally, because a new business and its credit will inevitably be conflated with the personal
credit of its founder(s), take steps to separate the two. One of the most significant steps you can
take is to apply for an IRS EIN (employer identification number). By declaring to the IRS that your
new business is the real deal, and not just a pipe dream

An Controversial Issue Of Drinking Water Crisis
Clean water crisis
One of the most controversial issues today relates drinking water. It could be defined as drinkable
water or potable water which is safe enough for drinking and food preparation (Charitywater.org,
2016). Many people argue that some countries are meeting rising problems of not having enough
drinking water. For example in Africa, a lot of people suffer and die daily from various diseases
because they have unclear, dirty, contaminated water. This essay partly agrees with this statement
and will illustrate this issue in term of how important the water is, the causes of getting less clear
drinking water, two technological solutions which is waters desalination and groundwater wells and
how to apply these solutions to Chad in Africa.
Widely, clear water has been getting less because of many reasons. The most two effect causes
are the increase of people number and the pollution of rivers (Eschooltoday.com, 2016). This is
because, the world wants more drinking water for the huge people and it is not like the past
when there were a few people and at less 1 liter for one person a day. For example in China and
India, it is difficult for Chinese and Indians governments to give enough drinking water for the
people, so water is so expensive there. Furthermore, the rivers was one of the sources for having
good drinking water, but farmers and some companies had contaminated the river until the they

Money Laundering Essay
Money laundering , is a term that is often used in association with illegal activities, especially in
terms of terrorist actions. Many news reports in televisions and newspapers have used the term
money laundering but still, the general public do not have enough knowledge of what money
laundering is and the corresponding effects upon society. In line with this, there is also a need to
further study the processes that are involved in money laundering in order to properly address the
aforementioned illegal action. Being the case, there is a need to define the term money laundering

In the modern definition, money laundering occurs every time any transaction takes place or
relationship is formed which involves any form of property or benefit, whether it is tangible or
intangible, which is derived from criminal activity (Hopton, p.2). In relation to this, it is also
important to point out that criminal proceeds do not have to be moved in order to launder them
(Hopton, 2009). The modern definition of money laundering highlights important points that
describe money laundering. Contrary to the common belief that laundering only involves illegal
money, there are also cases wherein the money is legal but the failure of an individual to properly
declare it as income on a tax return is also recognized as laundering. Furthermore, the traditional
view of money laundering involves the purpose that criminals result to laundering in order to
identification, punishment, and confiscation of their ill gotten wealth. The traditional perspective
is not incorrect but it is also essential to highlight that the primary aim of criminals is not the
conversion of property but rather the need to hide the fact that they actually own the property. The
purpose of the criminals is to remove the link between them and the property so that it cannot be
related to the criminal offence that they wish to avoid. As a result, money laundering is more

In my opinion, the benefits of the European exploration did not outweigh its consequences. One
reason why the benefits did not outweigh the consequences is the Native American population.
Another reason the benefits did not outweigh is because of the Columbian Exchange. Columbus

the Native American population. The population decreased starting from 1500 1650. The
population decreased because the European people killed them with smallpox. The population of

In our study we have used Xanthan Gum, a natural polymer to form hydrogel with HEMA. A
hydrogel is a three dimensional cross linked polymeric network formed between a hydrophilic
polymer like Xanthan gum and a hydrophobic polymer like HEMA. Here the solution of Xanthan
gum and HEMA was cross linked with N,N,N,N Tetra methylethylenediamine (TEMED) and
Ammonium Persulphate (APS). The hydrogels formed from naturally occurring polymers have
remarkable use in many biomedical applications like wound healing. These hydrogels show a better
response in swelling compared to hydrogels formed from synthetic polymer. They possesses anti
microbial properties whereas synthetic matrial based hydrogels need to incorporate antimicrobial
agent to comprise antimicrobial property within the hydrogel. Hydrogels made from the naturally

Social Responsibility Of A Business
Introduction Cohen wrote extensively on the work of Drucker especially in the areas of business
and nonprofit management. However, Cohen s article on social responsibility drew a lot attention
from other scholars like Friedman. In view of this, this paper will discuss and define the concept of
social responsibility of a business to its workers, stakeholders, and society; how the perspectives
align with that of Drucker; comparing Cohen s opinion with that of Friedman and finally
determines which of the two individual s opinion best aligns with the current business climate
promoting a green environment.
Concept of social responsibility According to Cohen (2009), the concept of social responsibility
entail that every organization must assume the full responsibility for its impact on employees, the
environment, customers, and whomever and whatever it touches (p. 31). On the other hand,
Murphy (2009) explains that social responsibility pertains to an entity s ability to respond to a
person, situation or issue in a certain way (p. 245). Comparatively, Carroll Buchholtz (2003)
revealed that the concept of social responsibility means that organizations have moral, ethical, and
philanthropic responsibilities in addition to their responsibilities to earn fair return for investors
and comply with the law (p. 36). This means that the society will look for major organizations
where profits and nonprofit could be derived to take care of some of the ills in the society.

makes his wife truly beautiful. Beginning with a distant view that offers an illusion, he closes up

How Not Deal With An Identity Crisis
How Not To Deal With an Identity Crisis Identity is a common trope in most literature. One
reason this maybe is because it is a very relatable topic, as many people also struggle with their
identity. Having an identity crisis to mean many different things. It can mean struggling with
inner demons, being what other people expect and not who one is, or trying to find out where
one belongs in the world. Everyone can say that they felt like this at one time or another in their

Many people struggle with identity and deal with it in different ways including the characters in

The Mexican War And The Cause Of The Mexican American War
The Mexican American War, generally called the Mexican War and in Mexico the American

immigrants came to America in search of the American Dream of freedom and a better way of life,

But can the fiction genre be considered a reliable source for studying the immigrant narrative? If

Anzia Yezierska s personal immigrant narrative began in Russian Poland. She was born around
1885, and immigrated to America with her family when she was 15 years old. Yezierska s family
were Jews who escaped from the anti Semitic government that was in control of Russia at that
time. They settled in New York s Lower East Side, along with millions of East European Jews who
fled to the United States ( Anzia 28:332).
Yezierska s personal experiences were not unlike those of other Jewish immigrants. Her father

Romanticism s Sublime Style in Rip Van Winkle, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Billy Budd
Sublime refers to an aesthetic value in which the primary factor is the presence or suggestion of
transcendent vastness or greatness, as of power, heroism, extent in space or time (Internet
Encyclopedia). This essay will explore different levels of Romanticism s sublime style in
Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle
, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Herman Melville s Billy
Budd. The essay will particularly focus on how the writers incorporate the spiritual and the terror
aspects of the sublime into their work.
American romanticism requires the wilds of nature to be the setting for the sublime. It is in this
setting that the protagonist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Longinus writes in his Peri Hypsous. For as if instinctively, our soul is uplifted by the true
sublime; it takes a proud flight, and is filled with joy and vaunting, as though it had itself produced
what it has heard (qtd in Weiskel 3).
Friedrich von Schiller, a German poet and philosopher from the 18th century, suggests there is more
to the sublime than a feeling of transcendence. ?The beautiful, says Schiller, is valuable only with
reference to the human being, but the sublime with reference to the pure daemon in man, the
statutes of pure spirit? (qtd. in Weiskel 3). Daemon is translated from the German
languageГ·demon. Schiller is suggesting that the sublime is more than physical beauty. For the
sublime to be meaningful it needs to include the goblins lurking about inside the human.
Like Schiller, Edmund Burke a British philosopher from the 18th century, also suggests the sublime
is more than a transcending feeling; it includes an intense feeling of terror. In his Section VII Of the
Sublime Burke writes:
Whatever is fitted in any sort to excite the ideas of pain, and danger, that is to say, whatever is in
any sort terrible, or is conversant about terrible objects, or operates in a manner analogous to
terror, is a source of the sublime, that is, it is productive of the strongest emotion which the mind is
capable of feeling. (qtd. in Boulton 39)

Changing Photojournalism Education in American Universities
Kenneth Kenney stated the obvious in 1987 The lack of trained teachers and educators and
standard teaching materials is the most pressing problem in photojournalism education (Kenney
1987). The same rings true today professors in the fields of journalism and photojournalism are
practicing the same things they were taught in college many have been out of the workforce for
years, if they were working journalists or photojournalists at all. Today s professors were trained in
the beginning of the digital age or earlier, and practices and requirements for the future
photojournalists have changed, and are continuing to change daily. Without the proper re education

To ensure the proper training with equipment, the student must have access to the constantly
changing and updating materials that photojournalists, photographers, and journalists regularly
have to evolve with.
Oblinger and Oblinger again address this today s college students, the Net Gen , have grown up
with technology they have the latest computer, software, programs, websites, phones, etc. Children
and youth today average more time spent on digital media than watching TV. Today s Net Gen
also expects up to date technology in their learning process, and expect their professors to have
knowledge of the technology similar to theirs (Oblinger and Oblinger, 2005).
Photojournalism today epitomizes the multimedia function photojournalists are required to perform
multiple duties rather than just take pictures. Instead, they are both taking the pictures while also
writing the story, taking video, and uploading to social media. Despite the constant addition of
duties, staffers are expected to perform them all in less time than they were previously expected to
perform one duty. Education in video, audio, photography, writing, and social media is imperative
for the future photojournalist, and with skills in all of these sets, a photojournalist will be more of
an asset to the employer than one who has only one or two of these skill sets. Specialized focuses
in photojournalism education should also be

Dream Interpretation For Beginners Summary
A person opens their eyes and realizes that they are are on a gigantic chocolate chip cookie boat,

river, the person sees mountains that are made of ice cream and are topped with whipped cream

Total Quality Management At Kiichiro Toyoda
The main pillars in the model resemble the total quality control or total quality management of the
company that can best be summarized in this pyramid illustration.
Total quality management means that everyone is involved in continuously refining the service to
customers with data and profound knowledge. Kiichiro Toyoda made customers a huge priority in
his theory. The base of the pyramid consisted of the costs of gaining quality, processing services,
testing, tools, and prevention. The second level of the pyramid is involvement, which examines the
rewards, acknowledgment, training, empowerment, and partnerships within the company. The third
level is leadership that deals with talks about the ownership, management support, and the
corporation s mission plan. The next level is culture, which explains the values and continuous
improvement made by the employees. Finally the top of the pyramid is total quality management,
which encompasses the main goal of being a customer driven company. Toyoda s primary
viewpoints in his system embrace the theories of just in time and Jidoka. Just in time (JIT) focuses
on productivity improvement with the main idea being, making only what is needed, when it is
needed, and in the amount needed . The main goal for JIT was to effectively build a car within the
shortest possible amount of time by obeying four guidelines. The first rule states that when the first
order is established it must be brought to the start of the assembly line as

Ionotropic Receptors Research Paper
Ionotropic receptors is a binding site that opens when an ion attaches to the binding site. The
ionotropic receptor is also a direct method to the ion channels. Ionotropic receptors has a channel
where molecules move in and out of the ion channel. The ions that goes into the ion channel are
made out of sodium which cause the membrane to become small.
Metabotropic receptors is receptor that is a part of the binding site of a neurotransmitter.
Metabotropic is indirect and complex method to the ion channels. Metabotropic receptor process is
also different from the inotropic receptor. When the ion channel is open the molecule move to the
ion channel then molecule attaches to the metabotropic receptor and the ion channel closes.

Stem Research On Stem Cell Research

Stem Cell Research Stem cell research has cultivated a new, miraculous study in the health field.
The study has led to an increase in curing diseases over the past couple of decades. Before stem
cell research, diseases were destroying and devastating lives continuously on end. With the use of
stem cells in modern time, diseases are no longer taking control of lives. The innovation in
biomedical technology, such as stem cell research, has greatly impacted the understanding of how
diseases can be treated, how drugs can be tested, how more careers will be available in the
future, and how newborns can safely provide help. Stem cells are cells that give rise to all other
cells in the body with a specialized function. Blood cells, muscle cells, and the cells of internal
organs all form from stem cells. There are several sources of stem cells found in the body. Two
known sources of stem cells are the embryonic stem cell and the adult stem cell. Embryonic stem
cells are found in embryos three to five days old. This means that they are able to divide into
more stem cells, or become any specialized cell in the body at this early stage. Adult stem cells are
rare, but not uncommon. These adult stem cells are found in low numbers amongst all adult
tissues. However, these cells are most commonly found in bone marrow and fat. Unlike embryonic
stem cells, adult stem cells have limited ability to breeding other cell

Alzheimer s A Type Of Dementia
Introduction:
Alzheimer s is a type of dementia that causes complications with memory, thinking, and behavior.
Long before any signs of memory loss, there a microscopic changes occurring in the brain, altering
its functionality (Alzheimer s Association Organization, 2016). The brain has billions of nerve cells
that work together, and when one portion of the brains neurons are malfunctioning it leads to
breakdowns in other parts of the brain. The two most noted abnormal structures that are suspected
to damage and kill neurons in the brain in patients with Alzheimer s are plaques and tangles.
Plaques are deposits of a proteins fragment called beta amyloid that build up in the spaces between
nerve cells; and tangles are twisted fibers of another protein called tau that build up inside cells
(Alzheimer s Association Organization, 2016).
There are many different types of dementia, but Alzheimer s is the most common, accounting for
60 80% of dementia cases in America (Alzheimer s Association Organization, 2016). There are
three types of Alzheimer s, Early onset Alzheimer s, when people younger than 65 years old are
diagnosed with the disease, typically around their 40 s or 50 s and is very rare, less than 10% of all
people with Alzheimer s have early onset; Late onset Alzheimer s which is what most people are
familiar with, and is when someone is diagnosed with the disease after the age of 65; and lastly,
Familial Alzheimer s disease which is a form that doctors know for

The Miller s Tale Essay
The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer consists of several characters from various social
classes. Together, these characters go on a pilgrimage to Canterbury and along the journey they
all tell different tales. In order to write this book, Chaucer decided to go on his own pilgrimage
and to also observe people in his everyday life in order to make the characters and the book itself
realistic. Many authors like Chaucer will take real life experiences and incorporate them into their
novels. In The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer uses the characters in order to reveal his inner most
opinions of his past. Chaucer s solicitous portrayal of contrary women in The Miller s Tale can
be traced back to his tolerance of the affair between his wife and his best friend. For example,
Alison from The Miller s Tale is having an affair with Nicholas and warns him that My husband
is so full of jealousy, unless you watch your step and hold your breath I know for certain it will be
my death (Chaucer 91). This evidence suggests that Alison was aware of her wrong doing and

This having been his second and possibly third time visiting Italy, the Italian influence became
more apparent in his work after this visit. The Knight s Tale represents Chaucer s second attempt
to adapt the material of the Teseida written by Italian poet, Giovanni Boccaccio (Rossignal). The
tale is about two prisoner knights who are fighting for the love of one woman. This tale contains
the exact characters and plot of Boccaccio s Teseida. In other words, Chaucer s visit to Italy and
his enlightenment on Italian poets drew him to incorporate an Italian poet s work into his very
own, The Canterbury Tales, but more specifically The Knight s Tale . Not only did Chaucer use
Teseida but the Decameron provided direct parallels for The Reeve s Tale, The Clerk s Tale, The
Merchant s Tale, The Franklin s Tale, and The Shipman s

Nissan Xd Crew Truck Essay
A diesel driven Titan XD Crew Cab 4x4 in SL garb lands on the Auto Trends driveway.
Oftentimes, it is the second opportunity with a vehicle that paints a clearer picture of its
capabilities. Following my introduction to the all new Nissan Titan XD seven months earlier, I
welcomed a 2016 Nissan Titan XD Crew Cab 4x4 in SL trim to my home. Not only did I have
more time to put it through the paces, but I also was able to essentially completely dissect this
vehicle.
My verdict? Nissan has a formidable competitor in the Titan XD, one the manufacturer says fills the
white space between light and heavy duty trucks. In particular, instead of going up against the likes
of the Ford Super Duty and similar models from Chevrolet, Ram, and GMC, Nissan built the Titan
XD to give it enhanced towing capacity without the attendant huge price tag.
More Power, Manageable Price
The result is a powerful Crew Cab only pickup truck priced from $35,290 in base S trim, a 4x2
model with a 5.6 liter, gasoline engine. But the big news here is the availability of a turbo diesel
engine provided by Cummins, a supplier who is no stranger to the auto industry.

  • 3. Summary Of Quotes From The Kite Runner The first sentence of the quote foreshadows Amir s struggle to forget the past throughout the rest of the book. He claims that no matter how hard you try or how far you bury it, the past will always claw its way out . Also in this sentence, Amir implies an occurrence of a tragic event without actually telling the readers what it was. In the last sentence Amir speaks of peering into an alley later revealed as the alley where his childhood friend, Hassan, was raped. By saying this he is telling the readers that the alley and the events that occurred in the alley are constantly on his mind and have been on his mind for the past twenty six years. The fact that it has been twenty six years also verifies the importance of the event. This was said... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Baba tells Amir that the teacher is just jealous that Iran was a rising power in Asia. However this quote applies to other parts of the book as well. Once Hassan is raped Amir pretends not to know what happened because it is easier for him yet Hassan knows Amir watched. Amir says this soon after witnessing Hassan s rape. He realized that the real reason he ran wasn t in fear of Assef and the other boys but simply because it was the easier way out. Amir allows the rape to happen in order to get the last kite, hoping that it would prove to Baba he was worthy of his affection. He then says that the price of the Kite was Hassan and then compares him to the lamb sacrificed on a Muslim holiday to represent Abraham s near sacrifice of his son to God. Baba says this when an Afghan woman is about to be raped by a Russian as their ticket past the Russian guards. Baba is standing up for the Afghan women. His actions are respectable however Amir tries to stop Baba. Baba s actions are respectable and he does what he should however they remind Amir of the rape. • 4. A Freelance Writer At Three Online Companies Currently I am a contracted freelance writer at three online companies. I just began being paid for writing this year. I joined one company in January, one in February, the third in March. They are all considered content farms . The first two companies work relatively the same, the third is a bit different in that it it pays in lifetime royalties. I have only wrote five articles for the third company. They have the most astringent requirements and their articles are all 500 words, in third person, and require writers to provide sources in the footnotes. The first two companies have you write articles for your application in order to rate your quality. The first company I contracted with recently upgraded my writingand I was not aware of it for a while. This action allows me a larger pool of jobs to choose from. The first two companies both have pools of categorized jobs a writer may choose from. You may choose any job at your rating or lower. Unfortunately there s been great upheaval in my personal life this year and it has greatly affected my on time stats. Thereby making my writer s rating lower than what I am capable of. I have wrote all my life. Poems, lists, ideas, everything really. I was a very nervous child and I stuttered and tripped over my tongue constantly however put a pen in my hand and I can communicate smoothly, eloquently, and get my point across in a clean concise manner. The ironic part is that I was born left handed with a step ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The entire commercial s dialogue has various people, mostly families, including a mother in front of her child, saying half fast instead of half a$$ed. Clearly, Verizon hopes that a funny play on word expression, not normally allowed in commercials, will drive sales. The idea of the commercial series is that most broadband providers have slow upload speeds, making them only half fast. So, the actors in the commercial complain of the half fast job their Internet is doing when they are posting pictures or music to the Web. The commercials are highly amusing and certainly stick with the consumer whether they like or dislike the content. Many blogs and posts on the internet express that Verizon should be more... Perhaps, you ve noticed someone driving an expensive car and wonder to yourself what makes it worth all of the money spent on it. We live in a consumer driven society in America today where everything from the outfit you choose to wear to the car you drive is influenced by advertisement. Just how much does it dictate our perception of life? I will be analyzing the staggering psychological and societal effects that advertisers have over our culture today. I will be looking at advertisings origins and showing how it developed to become one of the main contributors to what is considered to be normal and desirable in American culture today. Advertisers have successfully employed methods of psychologyto shape the minds of their consumers and construct a world that fattens their pocket books while leaving the average consumer dumbfounded to the advertisement s effects. My goal is to educate the consumer about these methods thereby empowering them to see past the façade and decide for themselves what they need and want from the world. History of Advertising To truly understand the present the way advertising negatively affects American society, one must look at its past. For as long as there has been money, there has been competition to obtain it. Different methods have been employed in attempts to turn the consumer s attention towards a product in hopes of getting some of this ever coveted money. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Farad is credited with the foundation, most of the teachings came from a different movement. It evolved from the Moorish Temple of Science founded by Timothy Drew (Source 1). Drew preached that Islam was the correct faith for African Americans. Drew also preached that African Americans were superior to Caucasians. The Nation of Islam, along with being a religious movement, was a movement for change. They wanted to raise awareness and create racial pride within the African Americancommunity (Source 1). Blood Libel is the belief that Jews kidnap children and use their blood in their rituals. The controlling of the media and finances resemble Hitler s argument that Jews were after world domination. These two examples of the Nation of Islam slandering Christianity and Judaism are only two of the many examples of slander. The Nation of Islam created an us vs. them mentality. This mentality is dangerous and can have disastrous effect on society. The hatred can lead to conflicts and wars. Along with denouncing any religion other than Islam, they denounce anyone that is not African American. This is the second reason that the movement was unacceptable. The Nation of Islam used the teachings of Timothy Drew from the Temple of Science (Source 3). Drew preached that African Americans were the superior race. He especially focused on their superiority over the Caucasians. Drew also preached that the Caucasians were doomed because Jesus was a black man who attempted to redeem the Black Moabites, only to be executed by the white Romans (Source 3). These teachings influenced the Nation of Islam greatly and lead to their belief in African American superiority. Looking at William Shakespeare s Othello The Moor Of Venice, the central character, Othello is revered as the tragic hero. He is a character of high stature that is destroyed by his surroundings, his own actions, and his fate. His destruction is essentially precipitated by his own actions, as well as by the actions of the characters surrounding him. He is in great demand by the duke and senate due to his honorable qualities. This is evidenced by Cassio s comment that the senate sent about three several quests to look for Othello (I.ii.46). Othello is a noble man who is well known and respected for his position as a general. He is experienced in battle and shows great courage and demonstrates high levels of dignity. Othello shows immense respect for his fellow man, we see this in his initial relationships with Casio an Iago. Othello s valiant personality is a major part of his success in the military as well as with his marriage, to Desdemona. Because of his exotic qualities, he is able to woo his wife in an art of story telling, reflecting his nobility and honor. Such a storey seduces Desdemona, causing a strong bind to Othello made from a mixture of love and lust. The Venetian government trusts Othello enough to put him in full martial and political command of Cyprus; indeed, in his dying speech, Othello reminds the Venetians of the service he has done their state (V.ii.348). Compare and Contrast The Two Poems Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea I recently read two poems entitled Island Man and The Fringe Of The Sea . They are both similar in theme, but they also have many differences. Both poems are based on the emotions of people who live near the sea and their feelings towards it. This theme relates to both of the authors, and connects them; the author of The Fringe Of The Sea , A.L. Hendricks, was born in Jamaica and later in life moved to Britain. Grace Nichols, author of Island Man , was born in Ghana and then also immigrated to the UK. These lines use enjambment for the effect of the lines flowing into each other to make it seems like the sea. The first half flows smoothly, as does the second half, except for the final word. The letter S is used in both halves to bring them together to remind the readers of Islands Man closeness to the sea. The letter H ( head ) is a break from the S s and therefore the rhythm is lost. The third line ( to the sound of blue surf ) has alliteration of the letter S . The sound of this letter is very much like that of the waves to remind the reader of the sea. To insure that this comes across to the readers there is emphasis on these letters. There is also an emphasis on the word head here to make the readers realize that it is only in Island Man s head, as he also realizes the truth. The fourth line uses two verbs, which have internal rhyme to make the line flow easier (breaking and wombing). The first verb breaking suggests the repetitive and steady breaking of the waves on the Caribbean sands. More evidence of this meaning the waves is the fact that the line says the steady breaking and wombing which clearly illustrates the waves motion. The second verb wombing is derived from the word womb ; therefore this connotes warmth, maternal love and family. Island Man would connect all of these with his home, and he would connect ... One of the long term causes of the Great Depression was that there was no program to help aid the people because President Hoover believed in rugged individualism, another long term reason of the depression was that the people had placed money on the banks and the banks would share it for the stock market and usually didn t give it back. Furthermore, President Roosevelt had made a speech covering everything that he was willing to do for his country and the faith of the people. • 16. Persuasive Essay On Crosswalks Summary Since moving into the neighborhood about seven months ago, there are a lot of activities for the residents to partake in. The neighborhood has eleven playgrounds, (some which are for younger children considered tot lots), four basketball courts, a pool, a recreational center, and mailboxes at the end of each resident s street. Seems like a lot of places you are able to walk, right? One thing missing in the neighborhood is crosswalks leading to each of these different places and more. What I am proposing is to have cross walks put up throughout the neighborhood so residents are safe when crossing the road. Problem A large circle is the main road for the neighborhood and has eight connecting streets leading to where the resident s houses are located. Families each day walk around the neighborhood to different activities such as the playgrounds, basketball courts, the pool, and other activities. The problem is when residents have to walk to different places there are no safe places to cross the road. Currently there are no painted crosswalks or even pedestrian crossing signs. This can cause a major safety concern for residents and drivers. Children and teens can be affect largely by this due to the school bus dropping them off at the entrance of the neighborhood. Also, as this being unsafe for residents this is also an unsafe condition for others such as, the families of residents, maintenance workers, delivery drivers, etc. However, ... • 18. Christianity And Its Impact On The Development Of... Christianity was born and flourished in an empire where the common language was Latin and Greek. Two important people like Paul and Constantine further influenced and were a major part of the development of Christianity. The history of the Jews leading up to the time of Jesus had a major impact on the development of Christianity. When Christianity was clearly identified as a distant religion, the new religion was considered by its members to be the fulfillment of Judaism rather than a new religion. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to the Jews, Christianity was closely linked to Judaism. The development of Christianity was due to several historical, political, and social circumstances. The ministry of Jesus brought about a new religion: Christianity. Jesus teachings were apocalyptic in that he preached the nearness of the Kingdom of God. He also taught, To love your neighbor as yourself Mark 12:31[NIV]. Since Jesus was a Jew and preached to Jews, Christianity was closely linked to Judaism. Early Christian missionaries, being Jews, interacted at first with the Jewish communities in the empire s cities. This was only natural and gave them common ground with other groups in the provinces in which Jews were a minority. Among the Jews, however, resistance to Jesus being the Messiah was often encountered, and early on, the Christians or the church gained converts from non Jews. • 19. Sectionalism Due to Western Expansion Essay The Antebellum period from 1800 to 1850 marked a time of sectionalism in American history. Furthermore, new territories gained during western expansion added to this conflict between different sections of America. Southern states wanted new slave territories, while the North wanted to contain the spread of slavery. While Western expansion contributed to growing sectional tensions between the North and South from 1800 1820, sectionalism intensified significantly from 1820 1850. Any state admitted into the Union bellow this line would decide the legality of slavery for their new state, by popular sovereignty. This temporarily maintained the balance of slave states and free states in the Union, while increasing sectionalism throughout America. Neither the North or South wanted the other section to have more states favoring their own slavery ideals, in fear of biased representation in the Senate. Furthermore, sectionalism was demonstrated by the fact that congress felt the need to implement The Gag rule ; This disallowed congress from discussing the issue of slavery for the next thirty years (while only lasting a decade). Though members of the house tried to pass the Wilmot proviso, which would ban slavery in newly acquired Mexican territories, Southerners naturally opposed this. Disagreements over how to decide the newly acquired land s position on slavery, further intensified sectionalism between the North and South. At one point the South even tried to pass the Ostend Manifesto in an attempt to purchase Cuba from Spain, and admit it into the Union as a slave state. Although this effort failed, it strongly represents the intense sectionalism during the time: As an entire portion of the country acted autonomously to secure an additional state to gain power over their Northern neighbors. Finally, the compromise of 1850 was passed, declaring popular sovereignty as the determining factor of the position of slavery among the land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As mentioned before, Watson s views on raising children was not the most ideal. Children would not learn how to properly cope with life s challenges because they were ultimately left to learn on their own, and no one can learn without being taught or influenced. It could be defined as drinkable water or potable water which is safe enough for drinking and food preparation (Charitywater.org, 2016). Many people argue that some countries are meeting rising problems of not having enough drinking water. For example in Africa, a lot of people suffer and die daily from various diseases because they have unclear, dirty, contaminated water. This essay partly agrees with this statement and will illustrate this issue in term of how important the water is, the causes of getting less clear drinking water, two technological solutions which is waters desalination and groundwater wells and how to apply these solutions to Chad in Africa. Widely, clear water has been getting less because of many reasons. The most two effect causes are the increase of people number and the pollution of rivers (Eschooltoday.com, 2016). This is because, the world wants more drinking water for the huge people and it is not like the past when there were a few people and at less 1 liter for one person a day. For example in China and India, it is difficult for Chinese and Indians governments to give enough drinking water for the people, so water is so expensive there. Contrary to the common belief that laundering only involves illegal money, there are also cases wherein the money is legal but the failure of an individual to properly declare it as income on a tax return is also recognized as laundering. Furthermore, the traditional view of money laundering involves the purpose that criminals result to laundering in order to identification, punishment, and confiscation of their ill gotten wealth. On the other hand, Murphy (2009) explains that social responsibility pertains to an entity s ability to respond to a person, situation or issue in a certain way (p. 245). Comparatively, Carroll Buchholtz (2003) revealed that the concept of social responsibility means that organizations have moral, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities in addition to their responsibilities to earn fair return for investors and comply with the law (p. 36). For as if instinctively, our soul is uplifted by the true sublime; it takes a proud flight, and is filled with joy and vaunting, as though it had itself produced what it has heard (qtd in Weiskel 3). Friedrich von Schiller, a German poet and philosopher from the 18th century, suggests there is more to the sublime than a feeling of transcendence. ?The beautiful, says Schiller, is valuable only with reference to the human being, but the sublime with reference to the pure daemon in man, the statutes of pure spirit? (qtd. in Weiskel 3). Daemon is translated from the German languageГ·demon. Schiller is suggesting that the sublime is more than physical beauty. For the sublime to be meaningful it needs to include the goblins lurking about inside the human. Like Schiller, Edmund Burke a British philosopher from the 18th century, also suggests the sublime is more than a transcending feeling; it includes an intense feeling of terror. In his Section VII Of the Sublime Burke writes: Whatever is fitted in any sort to excite the ideas of pain, and danger, that is to say, whatever is in any sort terrible, or is conversant about terrible objects, or operates in a manner analogous to terror, is a source of the sublime, that is, it is productive of the strongest emotion which the mind is capable of feeling. Stem Research On Stem Cell Research Taylor Basham Professor Susan Kelly English 111 36 25 November 2014 Stem Cell Research Stem cell research has cultivated a new, miraculous study in the health field. The study has led to an increase in curing diseases over the past couple of decades. Before stem cell research, diseases were destroying and devastating lives continuously on end. With the use of stem cells in modern time, diseases are no longer taking control of lives. The innovation in biomedical technology, such as stem cell research, has greatly impacted the understanding of how diseases can be treated, how drugs can be tested, how more careers will be available in the future, and how newborns can safely provide help. Stem cells are cells that give rise to all other cells in the body with a specialized function. Blood cells, muscle cells, and the cells of internal organs all form from stem cells. There are several sources of stem cells found in the body. Two known sources of stem cells are the embryonic stem cell and the adult stem cell. Embryonic stem cells are found in embryos three to five days old. This means that they are able to divide into more stem cells, or become any specialized cell in the body at this early stage.
