Pentecostal Movement Its Impact Among the Dalits and...
I. Introduction
The prime focus of this paper is to explore the modern Pentecostal or charismatic movement and its
impacts among the Dalits and the tribal in India. In this paper the presenter will also try to bring
out a brief origins and historical development of Pentecostalism, in order to understand the
movement and its impact on the Dalits and the tribal in India.
1. Etymology of the term Pentecostal
The term Pentecostal is derived from the Greek word pentekostГ© which literally means fifty . It
is the Greek name for the Jewish festival known as the Feast of Weeks in the Old Testament, which
celebrates the fiftieth day after Passover observances. The New Testament used the term to refer to
the established Jewish feast. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the Azusa Street revival on April 1906, Azusa Street soon became the Mecca for thousands
of visitors around the world. The people who visited this place went back to their homelands spread
this new experience and spread the Pentecostalism to other parts of the world and formed
Pentecostal churches. From the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles, Pentecostalism spread rapidly
around the world and began its advance toward becoming a major force in Christendom.
5. Pentecostalism Movement in India
We have observed the modern Pentecostal movement in the 20th century that sparked out of the
revivals that took place at Azusa Street, Los Angeles, which spread rapidly to the ends of the earth.
Most of the scholars traced back the origin of Pentecostalism to the Azusa Street revival in 1906.
However, it is not yet firmly established as to when the Pentecostalism started in India because prior
to the coming of Pentecostal missionaries in the 20th century there were Pentecostal like events in
the history of Christianity in India.
According to Gary McGee, the eminent historian of Assemblies of God, Pentecostalism had already
established itself in India long before word of Azusa reached the subcontinent. He validated by
showing the documentary evidence that Pentecost, with all the associated phenomena, came

What Are The Five Major Models Of Organizations That...
Individuals are all different but they all share similar characteristics. It comes within the leader
to recognize the differences and similarities. Leaders have to analyze and comprehend the
employees so that workers perform a better outcome. Organizations need a mission to look
forward; this objective should be shared or compatible with employees so that outcomes are
better and more effective. There are five major models of organization that characterized
employees. These models are Autocratic model, Custodial model, Supportive model, collegial
model, and the System model Employers have to know when and why they should apply each
model, and if to even apply them at all. The working environment is an enormous and crucial
component that influences employees performance. Leaders have to know how and when to
motivate the individuals. They have to understand that workers have to motivate to work,
nevertheless they still have to be focused toward the organization s mission. Organizations are
very complex but simple at the same time. An organization is a group of people that are organized
to work together to achieve a common goal or goals. The organization needs a mission to look
forward to, this mission or objective will make the organization concentrate and act towards their
goal. An organization is a mix of relationships, power, objectives, roles, activities and more other
factors. All this characteristics exist when the persons work together. Organizations

Essay on Narrative Style and Structure of James and the...
Narrative Style and Structure of James and the Giant Peach
The books that Roald Dahl has written have very interesting narrative styles. In the story James
and the Giant Peach, Dahl uses vivid imagination. He uses many imaginary situations but yet at the
same time encompasses enough realistic situations that the reader can still relate to it. In James
and the Giant Peach, it starts out introducing a boy named James Henry Trotter who lives with his
loving mother and father. The narrator of the book tells us, the readers, that James and his family s
dream is to sail to New York City and climb all the way to the top of the Empire State Building.
This introduction makes us think that this story is realistic, because the ... Show more content on

These bugs carry on many different human like characteristics, which help make Dahl s
imaginative story seem somewhat realistic. All of these bugs talk to James about how they hate
life on the hill and a bug eats away the stem of the peach and they go rolling down the hill.
Throughout the story the peach, with all of the characters inside, is on a dangerous adventure. After
going through oceans and winds, the peach lands them on the top of the Empire State Building.
The bugs help capture the evil aunts and they live happily together.
This story is told in the third person point of view, which helps the reader understand the whole
story and not just one character s side. If the story was told by just one character s point of view,
the story could be similar but one would only see the view of that character. By Dahl using third
person point of view, this allows the readers to see each characters views and thoughts of what is
happening in the story.
Also, throughout the book Dahl has the narrator asking many questions to make the reader
imagine what is going to happen next. Usually the question comes toward the end of a page so
the reader has to wonder or is caught in suspense until the page is flipped. This gives the reader a
chance to use their imagination and guess what happens next. I believe this sort of writing helps

Jack The Superego In Lord Of The Flies
Throughout the novel, the three main characters demonstrate each of the Freudian traits Jack
the id, Ralph the ego and Piggy the superego. Jack the id will need to seek instance gratification
of his primal needs. Ralph the ego will have to hold back the impulsiveness of the id until the
time is socially acceptable. Piggy the superego is the close connection to a moral compass. Jack
s id cannot control his emotions which implode into an emotional outburst when they went to
Castle Rock to look for the beast. The other boys wanted to go straight to the platform and climb
tomorrow but Jack s id could not control himself and he had an angry outburst. I m going up the
mountain. The words came from Jack viciously as thought they were a curse (119). Jack cannot
keep his id in check causing him to have this emotional outburst at the mountain. Additionally,
Jack s id solely care about his pleasure which is reflected when Jack talks about hunting for the
beast. There isn t a snake thing. But if there was a snake we d hunt it and kill it. We are going to
hunt pigs to get meat for everyone. (36). Now, Jack is focus on his primal desires to hunt.
Therefore, the biggest clash of Jack s id is his desire for separation from the original tribe and the
creation of his own tribe, the choir boys. Jack s id cannot live with the other tribe because he doesn
t want to follow the rules and leaves. I m not going to be part of Ralph s lot I m going off by

An Inside Look at Charter Schools Essay
Charter Schools Charter schools have recently become a topic of debate among educators. Charter
schools are schools working in the public sector of education while also being privately owned.
Charter schools are privately run, but receive public funding. There has been much debate since the
sprouting of Charter schools about the demographics being represented and underrepresented.
While there is evidence to support both sides of this argument, it should be clear to anyone after
doing the research that charter schools are an overall negative aspect of the educational system.
The stakeholders in this argument comprise a variety of groups of people. The students have their
education on the line. The parents have the future of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Teachers could potentially get a pay raise or a pay cut according to they type of school they
work for as well as the amount of funding that particular school receives. The parents of the
students also have something to gain or lose here. Most parents, if not all, want the best life
possible for their children. Parents play a big role in this issue, in that they are the ones who will
make the final decision on whether their child goes to a public school, a private school, or a charter
school.
There are three main types of schools that students currently attend. The most prevalent school is
the public school system. Funded by the government through taxes, this school usually has higher
class sizes. The second is private schools which can have religious affiliations, and often do.
However, that is not to say that all private schools have religious affiliations. To attend one of these
schools, more often than not, the parents and students must have a higher socioeconomic status
than most.
Finally, charter schools are specialized schools that are fairly new in the spectrum. There are a few
obvious stakeholders in this conversation. The first would be the students that attend the various
schools that are in question. They are the ones whose education is at stake depending on the kind
of school they attend. Other stakeholders would include the teachers at the schools as well as (for

The American Dream Essay
American Dream Many persons will give everything to come and reside in the United States.
There are some persons that pay a high amount of money to travel with someone who is going to
make them cross the border (Immigrants). These people who travel with this person have to go
through many things to accomplish this dream. But they really live the American Dream that they
expected? The law is getting stricter to Immigrants getting to a point where the Immigrants can t
live their lives. The ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity traditionally held to be available
to every American. If one were to search what the American Dream was in a dictionary, the results
would be as above. But what does this mean? These two words have had such conviction over
immigrants since our nation s founding; enough conviction for whole families to pack their bags
and leave the only life they have ever known behind, for the promise of something bigger,
something better.
This dream is usually sought after by people who have been deprived of things such as the freedom
to do what they want or the ability to have what they want. I believe that the American dream can
still be achieved by people to this very day, even though I think it is a lot harder to accomplish the
dreams they have now.The sky is the limit to what you can build, and what can happen to you and

Fall Of The Roman Empire Essay
Fall of the Roman Empire
The Roman empire was one of the most powerful and greater empires of its time during the late
antiquity period. The Roman empire was divided into an east and west. The Western Empire would
last until 467 C.E., while the Eastern Empire would stand through the next century. Although the
Western Empire outlasted the Eastern Empire it still faced its own challenges and would collapse
in 1453. Many historians have considered the fall of the Roman Empire and the reasoning behind
it. Edward Gibbon would be the first to propose his theories about the topic. Other historians such
as Peter Heather, Peter Brown, and Henri Pierenne have studied many sources and have come up
with their own theories. Considering all historians points of view, I think that Peters Heather s
ideologies make the most plausible case. Heather s used a wide spread of sources when he looked
at the fall of the Western Roman Empire. He took into consideration government and cultural stand
points. He also considers outsiders influence to be one of the main reasons the Western Empire fell.

An Essay About Shark
Have you ever seen a shark s nose as long as Pinocchio s or teeth as scary as Dracula s? Well, I
assure you they re out there. For years, these sharks have lived undetected, and now I expose them
and their very strange lives. The Cookiecutter Shark, Goblin Shark, Japanese Wobbegong, and
Prickly Dogfish Sharkhave so many interesting characteristics that make them unique.
Do you know what shark has the largest teeth in the world? It s the Cookiecutter Shark! It is
called that because of the cookie shaped wounds that it leaves on the bodies of its prey. They
live in warm, deep waters near islands and equatorial oceans. They stay around 1,000 meters in
the day and 300 meters at night. The Cookiecutter Sharks live solitarily unless they need to mate
or gang up on larger prey. Females give birth to 6 to 12 live babies after pregnancy of 12 to 22

They live in very deep waters below 1,300 meters, but come to the surface at night. They live
solitarily like most sharks in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian. It is believed that they are
ovoviviparous which means that their eggs hatch in the body of the mother, and then she gives
live birth to them. Their body is kind of transparent, because these sharks have translucent skin
that enables us to see their blood vessels and other body parts. Basically, to a certain extent, we
can actually see through the skin of these sharks! They have a blade like nose and fang like
teeth. The Goblin Shark can be pinkish grey to bubblegum pink. The odd looking jaw of the
Goblin Shark can expand forward to sweep up prey that passes by. The jaw is filled with small
sharp teeth in the front for grabbing fish, and flatter teeth in the back for grinding up fish bones.

The Influence Of The Traditional Family Dinners
1. How has the traditional family meal changed from the 1950s until now?
Subsequent to watching the videos and comparing the differences between families back in the
1950 s and now, it is evident that there are many factors which have influenced the change in the
traditional family meal. Firstly, in the 1950 s there was more of a traditional family structure.
Therefore, the majority of families were nuclear, consisting of a mother, father, and children.
Nowadays, there has been major changes to the structure and definition of families. In today s
generation, the trend of marriage is decreasing, and divorce rates are rising, resulting in various
different family structures. For example, the percentage of single parent families has doubled
since 1961. Due to this, single parents are forced to work in order to support their families,
consequently leaving less time for family dinners. , Back in the 1950 s, family dinners were
formerly a regular daily occurrence that members of the family looked forward to. It was a
priority and meant to be a positive, stress free experience. Furthermore, family dinners have
become less of a priority due to the increased businesses of people s lives and the changes in
priorities in general. In contrast to back then, the idea of family has become more of a second
thought, rather than taking precedence over than everything else. Nowadays, extra curricular
activities play a major role in many families, therefore, leaving less time in evenings

Analysis Of When Dreams Come True
Art is the expression of one s creative skill, which can be expressed in many different forms.
Sculptures, paintings, clothing, music, and poems are just a few of the vast art forms. Artwork
comes not only in different forms, but different styles as well, such as abstract, representational,
and nonrepresentational styles, which are some of the most common in the world of art. When
it comes to the history, medium, and technique of an artwork, there are two specific pieces that
really stand out to me. When Dreams Come True by Leonid Afremov and Mariposa by Beatriz
Milhazes are two masterfully crafted works of art that caught my eye almost immediately.
Leonid Afremov is a modern impressionistic style of an artist. Impressionist paintings seek to
recreate the viewer s or artists general impression of a depicted scene. The style is generally
characterized by faint outlines and small brushstrokes of various colors, that the eye tends to
blend together at a distance. Representational is a word commonly used to describe art forms that
relate to the natural world in which we live in and are easily translated by the audience, which is
exactly what Leonid Afremov did with When Dreams Come True while using abstract, or out of
the ordinary, colorways. The history behind this artwork is shown in the 19th century
impressionistic style that is used as well as the vibrant and contrasting colors used. Afremov took
advantage of this color palette in order to get a message across that

can only be effected through a union, which by the character of the proletariat itself can again
only be a universal one, and through a revolution, in which, on the one hand, the power of the

other hand, there develops the universal character and the energy of the proletariat, without
which the revolution cannot be accomplished; and in which, further, the proletariat rids itself of
everything that still clings to it from its previous position in society. Areas I want to learn more

The Day Of The Camping Process

way to simplify life than camping. Being unplugged from the busy world might be hard, but it is
well worth it. From the beginning to the end there are many excellent experiences and sensations
camping can provide to anyone.
The start of the camping process is the most difficult, but a crucial part none the less. Waking up
good and early, the room is filled with a bright, orange early sunrise light. The air is cool and crisp,

The poles are made of a smooth, light metal and are surprisingly cold. Next comes folding the
actual tent. For the most part the tent feels kind of grainy, it is made mostly of a thin nylon
material but occasionally there is mesh window or a metal zipper. Placing the folded tent into
its brown cardboard box proves to because somewhat difficult as air was trapped inside while
folding it. Finding the zipper and pressing down on the tent releases the trapped air and the faint
smell of dust. Luckily most of the packing was done yesterday so all that is left is loading the
camping necessities into the bed of the very large, torch red truck. Blue and black leather bags
filled with all sorts of clothing, a cooler filled with food, a box with minor cooking utensils and
much more almost are loaded into one big colorful mess in the back of the truck. And with that it is
time to head off to the camp site.
With most of the tedious activities out of the way the real camping experience can begin. After a
long drive stepping out of the vehicle and being greeted by nature is a blessing. The sounds of
nature are music. Birds chirp a high pitch melody, animals rustle away through the brush and
bushes and swarms of bugs frantically fly around the camp site. Blowing wind shakes the trees and
carries a pure smell not commonly found in the city. No car exhaust or smoke in it, just the pure

The Importance Of Military Deception
Military Deception (MILDEC) is applicable at all levels of war and can be implemented within
any phase of military operations to deter hostile actions and increase success of friendly
defensive and offensive operations. To achieve these goals and objectives policy and doctrine
which is the driving force for everything the United States Military does will need to be sound and
able to navigate the geopolitical environment. These critical principles serve as one of the most
important aspects when discussing or implementing MILDEC. In addition, these principles serve as
a guide when developing plans by providing knowledge based experience (literature/doctrine) and
nest authority with legal backing for the Geographical Combatant Commander (GCC) and the Joint
Force Commander (JFC) when conducting MILDEC operations. In the following paragraphs, I will
illustrate how creative thinking was incorporated through MILDEC into military action which lead
to successful operations. Deception operations have been employed in warfare throughout history,
with the earliest mentions being 1294 BC when Pharaoh Ramses II of Egypt led his army against
the Hittite stronghold of Kadesh. Two Hittite soldiers volunteered to lead Egyptian elements
against their former comrades. This trust proved to be devastating for the pharaoh because of their
desired perception of the two informants. Often, as we have learned during the MILDEC course

Stipends
If you re unwilling to grind out the details of why your faith based nonprofit should start offering
stipends, consider delaying the transition. Answering the why question provides motivation for
staffers expected to promote the change. It prepares you to answer critics and there will be
critics. It give confidence to staffers recruited into roles with stipends. If you re ready to do the
groundwork, consider the following five reasons nonprofits start paying stipends (and one reason
to not start): The nonprofit will fulfill its mission and vision more effectively by starting stipends.
This by itself is not sufficient reason to start stipends. However, it is a prerequisite. The strategy of

Leadership has tried every imaginable form of training and team building and reorganizing. Yet
no growth. This is a time to consider providing stipends. Stipends are part of a plan to change
organizational culture. There are organizations where being a nonprofit equates with being
nonprofessional. In such nonprofits it is common to hear people say, We re just a nonprofit.
One step (and I mean just one step) in elevating how members see the professionalism of their
organization is starting stipends. Stipends are part of a new leader development process. When
leading nonprofits I m especially gratified by working with leaders we internally developed. One
widespread development process moves people from organizational members to volunteer staff to
stipend staff to paid staff. Stipends are a transitional step in starting to pay salaries. Providing
stipends before offering salaries gives nonprofits practical experience in handling payroll, taxes,
etc. It also buys the nonprofit time to develop so it can better support offering salaries. Which

Eclectic Theatre
DRAMA
Transition to Eclectic
Realism provides only amoral observation, while absurdism rejects even the possibility of debate.
(Frances Babbage, Augusto Boal). The cynicism of this remark reflects the aberrant attitude
towards absurdism, yet there is truth to it. Theatre of the absurd is an esoteric avant garde style of
theatre based on the principles of existentialism that looks at the world without any assumption of
purpose. Existentialism and Theatre of the Absurd became identified with a cultural movement that
flourished in Europe in the 1940s and 1950s, after the Second World War. The idea that man starts
with nothing and ends with nothing is a common theme amongst most absurd plays. Despite this

The Caretaker follows no such structure, with a metaphysical approach that promotes a mystical
and confusing mode. Pinter divorces and exposes society s codes, institutions and human relations.
Throughout the play the audience is rarely comfortable. This disruption is established from the
outset of the play when Mick, a character who at this stage of the play the audience knows nothing
about, sits on the bed and stares at the audience in silence for 30 seconds . Mick s arrival on stage
generates unease within the audience and the tension only increases as Pinter provides the audience
with no explanation for his being there. Mick leaves the stage in a state of maintained silence;
hence the first images presented in the play confront and challenge many of the assumptions of a
traditional theatrical experience. Pinter does not adhere to the accepted use of dramatic
conventions. There is no traditional relation of character histories within the opening scenes and
lack of revelation is maintained throughout the play as relatively little is exposed about the
character s backgrounds. This makes events within the room conditional phenomena, which are
dependent on the individuals involved and what the audience is able to interpret.
A distinguishing feature separating realism from absurd is the style of language employed
throughout the plays. In A Streetcar Named Desire the

Examples Of Confidence In Bud Not Buddy
What is confidence? I believe confidence is how you get things that seem impossible, at first,
done. In Bud not Buddy, Bud had a lot of self confidence in finding his family across the state of
Michigan, so he decided to walk clean across it. With the confidence to start the journey, Bud got to
where he wanted to go. Without confidence, he would ve never been able to reach his family and
be happy with Herman E. Calloway and the band members. Therefore, since Bud had the self
confidence to find his dad, he was able to be happy at the end with the band members and his
grandpa.
The author uses many literary tools to explain the meaning of confidence in Bud not Buddy. One
literary tool used on page 59 is that Bud s mom had said when

Comparing Cops And The Literary Versions Of The Maltese...
Cops and Chiaroscuro In the film and the literary versions of The Maltese Falcon, cops are
portrayed differently because of the distinct tools available to each media. The written
descriptions of the novel give people on the police force a personality, so that they are
humanized. On the other side, the film creates a cynical depiction of cops, where policemen are
less complex humans than the criminals of the world, so this portrayal makes the film s world
appears grimmer than the literary world. In lieu of written description, the lighting of Huston s The
Maltese Falcon (1941) causes the policemen to lack some of the depth that they had in Hammett s
novel of The Maltese Falcon (1929) because the lighting creates fewer contrasting shadows... Show

In figure 2, Polhaus and Dundy wear nearly identical outfits, they have the same grim
expressions, and they have extremely similar lighting on their faces, clothes, and hands. In
figure 3, they both appear menacing with the same dark lighting and this lighting reinforces the
idea that Spade is more trustworthy than the cops. Figures 2 and 3 illustrate how the individuals
in the police force have been blurred, so that they are nearly the same. It has already been
established that the lack of contrast in shadows on the faces of the cops makes them less
complex characters, and since all the cops are similar, it means nearly all are superficial in a
way, and that Spade is more human than all of them because he is in charge of his own actions
and morals. The cops in the film have been transformed from characters into plot devices and
obstacles for Spade to get around. This de characterization of the police forces people to relate to
criminals and morally ambiguous private investigators like Spade. The world of the film is
bleaker than the world of the novel because cops, who are meant to protect and serve others, have
been slightly discredited. Thus, the institutions in the filmic world are seen as ineffective and
unstable, and the audience can only relate to people like Spade who work outside the

What Is The Comparison Of The Magnificent Seven And Seven...
The films, The Magnificent Seven , and, Seven Samurai , essentially portray the same events in
action, especially in the introductory scene. However, The Magnificent Seven , portrays the
western version while Seven Samurai takes place in an eastern village. The films also choose a
different order to show events and to go about each event. They do, however, portray the same
basic idea: an innocent villagefaces bandits who have no intentions besides pillaging and stealing
all belongings from the villagers, even if death of villagers must come from their intentions. The
scene I have chosen to compare between the two films is the introduction scene. I have chosen to
analyze and compare this scene from each film because while they show direct similarities in
events as well as camera angles, the films differ in many ways as well. The scene in, The
Magnificent Seven, begins with the bandits riding in on horses over a hill top towards a village
to the tune of peppy western music. This scene is shot as a far away angle and is done so with
no verbal communication, almost as if the bandits all have one common goal and they do not
have to discuss with one another to know that is their intentions. This leads to the viewer being
required to view the scene as a whole and consider what the intentions of these men must be and
why they feel that way. When the men arrive to the village, the viewer is given little to no
information regarding the village. The viewer then begins to wonder: Who are these people? ,
Did they do something to deserve this? , Maybe they know each other personally. The bandits
then approach the villagers as if they own the place . They are asking for drinks, sitting down as
they please, and even taking as they wish. The villagers seem to go along with this as though they
are used to it and intend to fully comply. This can be seen through the conversation between the
bandit and villagerwhere the villager talks very quietly, slurring his words, and telling the bandit
what he wants to hear. The bandits then begin to leave as a villager runs after the bandits with
intentions of standing up to them, almost to be leading the village to rebell. The bandits quickly
show they will not stand for this

General Electric Incandescent Light Bulb
General Electric Incandescent Light Bulb
Until just over a century ago, man had two sources for light: the Sun and fire. This all changed
with the development of the electric light. The light bulb changed the world immensely. No longer
does the world comprise of barbaric people who lived in the dark but a civilized culture who have
light at their fingertips. This paper will study in depth the production process, the disposal, and
future of the incandescent light bulb.
The origins of the electric light can be dated as far back as 1802 by Sir Humphry Davy. He was
able to produce an electric light, but his design was for most purposes impractical. When Thomas
A. Edison designed and successfully tested the modern incandescent ... Show more content on

Companies have developed more efficient light bulbs known as compact fluorescent lights
(CFLs). These light require on average one quarter of the energy needed for a comparable
incandescent light. For example a 60 watt incandescent could be replaced by a 15 watt CFL.
This is because CFLs are 75% more efficient at producing light. Hence less energy is wasted as
heat. If every household in the U.S. replaced one light bulb with CFL it would prevent enough
carbon dioxide released to equal removing one million cars from the road. CFLs last 6 10 times
longer then standard lights and are being endorsed by the government through their Energy Star
program (Church).
Another possible replacement for the incandescent light that is becoming more widespread is
light emitting diodes (LEDs). Many researchers believes LEDs will be widely used to light
homes by 2010, and they come with a glowing report from energy experts. They can be left on
for 100,000 hours (11 years) and, if they are switched on for only four hours a day , they will last
for over 60 years. Like CFLs, nearly all the energy goes on creating the light, using only 10% of an
incandescent s energy. LEDs are currently being installed in traffic lights and in brake lights
(Mathews).
In conclusion, one must ask himself if he or she feels justified in owning and using an incandescent
light bulb. In order to analyze this

Dunkin Donuts Vs Starbucks Persuasive Essay

When you reach two o clock p.m. you immediately start to feel sleepy and very irritable. If it was

around at work you typically reach for the next best thing coffee.
While there are various brands such as: Folgers, Maxwell House, and Chock Full O Nuts you can

are the top two competitors when it comes to coffee. I personally am caught between the two. On

Known as one of the most dangerous and violent terrorist organizations in the world, the Shining
Path or El Sendero Luminoso in Spanish of Peru was unique in various aspects. Although now
considered a menace to Peruvian society, the Shining Path still remains as a significant reference for
revolutionary movements. Living in an age of terror, Peruwas a country of disorder and corruption;
the road to liberation was a far way to go. For years, demagogic candidates turned dictatorial
leaders were filled with an insatiable hunger to fight for power and dominance. They mainly spent
money on military forces, drugs, and other frivolous things; yet all failed to simply provide for the
people who needed them most. Living was almost nonexistent and an illusion with an impoverished
economy. The country remained socioeconomically stagnant. Promises were never made and
Peruvians became more desperate, angry, and resentful by the day. Emotions gradually fueled their
fires into strong burning passions. This was more than enough to spark a revolutionary movement
to eternally live on. No matter how vile and wicked it would resort to, the people were ready.
Everyone just wanted to survive. And that was exactly where the Shining Pathcame into the picture.
Despite how unconventional this shining path was, it brought a promising future to the voices
dying to be heard.

drivers and affiliates as to how misconduct affects the whole team. The main principles of Uber

express authority, this principle provides that the principle (Uber) enters an explicit agreement with
the agent (drivers) to take part in a given action such as giving orders for them to transport people

A Statistical Physics Model ( Or Soal )

Outgrowth Patterning Normally, at the leading edge, the molecular mechanism produces axon
outgrowth activity and moves plasma membrane extension of HSN cell body in the ventral
direction (Adler et al., 2006). However, in mutants, the different directions of axonoutgrowth from
the HSN cell body scored to create a probability distribution for axon outgrowth activity directions,
diffusion and displacement (Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Therefore, the axon outgrowth pattering
is altering. Previous study reported that the extracellular guidance cues, including UNC 6/Netrin

Using the probability distribution, we compared the probabilities in wild type and mutants. For
example, UNC 6/Netrin extracellular guidance cues can decreases or increase the probability of
UNC 40 activity at each side of the neuron. Thus, this probability is directed as a stochastic
process. In more evidence, the probability of axon outgrowth activity in ventral direction is
decreased, whereas the probability of axon outgrowth in other directions is increased in mutants
(Xu et al., 2009; Kulkarni et al, 2013; Yang et al., 2014; Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Therefore, the
guidance cues control the direction of movement fluctuates over time. We report that this
probabilities can cause different regions of the neurons plasma membrane to move in different
directions. Thus the axon outgrowth extension morphology is abnormal and cause new axon
outgrowth patterning. Genetic evidence indicates that UNC 40/DCC, a central regulator of
polarization in multicellular animals (Ziel and Sherwood, 2010), mediates several signals that
regulates the polarization and orientation in response to UNC 6/Netrin. UNC 40::GFP clusters
randomly along the cell surface in response to polarization signal whereas the orientation signal
causes the UNC 40::GFP cluster toward specific direction (Xu et al., 2009; Kulkarni et al., 2013;
Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Consisting with a random walk, we hypothesize that random walk

The American Nightmare
The American Nightmare It was an extraordinary gift for hope, a romantic readiness such as I
have never found in any other person and which it is not likely I shall ever find again (Fitzgerald
6). In The Great Gatsby, the narrator, Nick Carraway, was describing his neighbor s goal of
marrying a woman named Daisy. Gatsby, however, did not realize the futility of his dream which
ended up costing him his life. The Great Gatsbywas written by Fitzgerald in 1925 and takes place
in the summer of 1922. The belief that anyone could get rich through hard work was still alive at
the time and is evident in the novel as both Gatsby and Carraway are newly rich characters.
Fitzgerald himself grew up in a well off family, similar to Carraway. Later on, Fitzgerald joined
the Army during World War I, as did Gatsby and Carraway. Gatsby was a successful officer in the
Army when he met a woman named Daisy who would then be the only concern in his life.
Carraway was a somewhat successful bond salesman who lived next door to Gatsby and liked to
believe he was a fair and honest man. Daisy was a woman who, in simple terms, was a gold
digger. Daisy s only concern was to stay in the upper class, so she married a rich man instead of
Gatsby, which crushed his dream. If The Great Gatsby centered around Gatsby s failed dream, the
quick gain of money, and selfishness, then the novel may be a criticism of the American Dream.

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine whether sexism has an effect on the lives of women in
situations such as breastfeeding their child and whether or not people take offense to the sight
of seeing a mother breastfeed her child. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females,
ranging from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where
participants are shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the
images in one of two categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study
will be to ask the participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with
their significant other continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a
stranger (See Appendix). I hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a
mother breastfeeding in a public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of
shirtless men playing football in the park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the
conclusion that people are more likely to take offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to
seeing a shirtless man.

Area of Interest Prostate cancer being a huge cause of mortality and medical expense in men age

than all other men. They are diagnosed up to 65% more frequently and the mortality rate is twice
that of Caucasian counterparts (Emerson, 2009). The African American male is also less likely to

Leininger s Sunrise Model Madeline Leininger s Sunrise Model has been used in many studies
over the past twenty years. Between 1999 and 2008, over 200 citations of articles were noted
using Leininger Theory (McEwen, 2011). She postulated that nurses should attempt to increase
knowledge related to the care of people who value their cultural heritage and way of life (McEwen,

Over the years the villain has had to move with the times, but there was one villain created that

Back in 1975 Jaws was a phenomenon upon release, but it was, first and foremost, an exemplary

Counseling Helping Relationships Serving students with different backgrounds, personalities, or

It does not matter if they are documented or not, children or adults, in each case we see the
unethical state power in its treatment of non citizens. To explain this further, we will mention a
few examples of what Carens means by this as well as the merits of the argument. For example,
if a person is residing within an specific polity as undocumented, throughout the years (this is
something that should be contemporary relevant for all of us) the person will have created a huge
network of social ties and multiple distinct types of relationships. After several years of a person
doing this, one must see the moral claim that a person should have the right to citizenship. The
contemporary rules to acquire citizenship are made from beliefs and they violate the human right
to freedom of conscience. Renouncing other citizenships serves no purpose for the state. In fact,
these are abuses that will discriminate against the poor (the process is expensive), and the civic
citizenship test is an undemocratic standardize test that reveals nothing else the unfairness and
nation centric view of the state. As a side note, the only edge that Carens is willing to accept, on
the conventional assumption that states have sizeable moral discretion over border policies, is the
absence of a criminal record, but only the absence of a criminal record that would morally warrant

Improving Athletic Performance
Competitive and recreational athletes typically use preparatory exercises such as warm up and
stretching to prepare the body for vigorous physical activity (Worrell, Smith, Winegarden, 1995).
For many years, stretching before athletic competition has been recommended to prepare the
athlete for the event (Unick, Kieffer, Cheesman, Freeney, 2005), and stretching has traditionally
been considered as an essential component of warm up routines to prepare muscles for activity,
enhance performance, and prevent injuries (Gleim McHugh, 1997; Marek et al., 2005; Schilling,
2000). The use of stretching as part of warm up routines comes from the belief that stretching will
aid in athletic performance and help prevent injury as well as decrease musclestiffness, increase
range of motion, alleviate pain (Schilling Stone, 2000; Unick, Kieffer, Cheesman, Freeney, 2005).
Recently, many studies have been conducted to determine which types of stretching such as static
stretching or dynamic stretching, is better for improving strength, speed, power and force
production, as well as whether the stretching prior to athletic competition would have an effect on
the performance (Church, Wiggins, Crist, 2001; Fletcher Jones, 2004; Unick, Kieffer, Cheesman,

focus eastward. Continuing problems at home and in the Middle East however have made doing so
difficult. Additionally more and more frequently attempts at influencing the ongoing narrative in
the Asia Pacific region have been rebuffed. Even allies have found strength in the emergence of a
system that fails to conform to previously prescribed methods and ideals. This leads to a
fundamental question America must answer quickly. Has the growing hypocrisy of idealistic
political rhetoric versus actual foreign policy finally undermined American credibility with
developing nations, or for the purposes of this paper more specifically China? The answer is yes. In
a world made much smaller by the instantaneous connections of digital communications a state such
as America cannot hope to proclaim its own brainchild the internet open to all while at the same
time subtly manipulating its use via the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers or
ICANN. Neither can America lend its support to the growing consensus that Climate Change is one
of the most perilous natural uncertainties to face humanity in recorded history without leading the
way in dramatically reducing its contributions to CO2 emissions. In such a world it is impossible to

Supply Chain Strategy Of A Convenience Store Chain
An attempt to be responsive from a convenience store chain should include the supply chain
strategy that fit with competitive factors such as high quality, quick response, flexibility, service
and innovation. First option can be expanding new stores in areas with existing clusters of stores.
This way, the store chain can gain quicker awareness among customers and receive high density
market presence. Just like 7 Eleven, after the growth of its stores, the company focuses on
increasing the number of original items that were available only at their stores. Company like Zara
also has the same strategy, where they products are displayed based on store locations, which
makes every store unique and local adaptive. Flexible hours can enhance... Show more content on

Last but not least, the delivery system worked on trust in order to reduce the delivery time spent
at each store. Therefore, if there is a mistake in delivery, the store personnel cannot inform the
delivery person right away and that might take even more time to fix. (c)Facility Location: To
ensure efficiency, 7 Eleven Japan have implemented a market dominate strategy to saturate an
area with stores. Based on the strategy, all manufacturing facilities are centralized to improve
brand awareness, and also lower the transportation cost by aggregating them and achieve
efficiency. Inventory management:7 Eleven Japan offered its stores a choice from a set of 5000
stock keeping units. Each store carried on average about 3000 stock keeping units depending on
local customer demand, and the food items were classified in four categories: (1) Chilled temp;
(2) Warm temp; (3) Frozen items; (4) Room temp. Transportation:7 Eleven Japan requires all
suppliers to deliver to their distribution center, and use their own trucks for replenishment from
store to store. It offered three times a day store delivery of all rice dishes, and twice a day
delivery of bread and other fresh food. In addition, there were four categories of temperature
controlled trucks, and each made deliveries to multiple retail stores. All deliveries were made
during off peak hours, and did not require the delivery person to be present when the store
personnel scanned in the

Timeline of American Beauty Essay
Not long ago, a woman s success was measured by the success of her husband and her domestic
prowess. Today, a woman is presumed successful if she can emulate the standards of beauty
portrayed in the media. Unfortunately, this subliminally enforced standard is unattainable to some
women, regardless of the quality of their character. Let s examine how western women went from
being pioneering superheroes, to people who measure their worth against airbrushed photographs of
impossibly beautiful women.
Timeline of American Beauty
People have used women in print media to sell their products since the mid 19th century. The
women in the ads were portrayed with thin waists, large breasts and stylish clothing. As the roaring
1920 s moved in, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some pin ups were printed to advertise a product, while others were printed as calendars or
centerfolds for the soldiers serving in World War II. Pin up icons, such as Marilyn Monroe, began
their careers this way. As of 2010, these women still set the par for American beauty standards.
The 1950 s introduced the American housewife. Women in print ads were portrayed in a
wholesome, Donna Reid, manner. They had the figures of a pin up, but these figures were covered
with dainty house dresses.
Health and Beauty
During the 19760 s and 1970 s, models, such as Twiggy, appeared everywhere. Women in print
looked thin to the point of being sick. The hippie movement, and the fashions that came with it,
did nothing to stop this standard. Hippies ate when they could, and were almost always thin. In
the early 1980 s, AIDS reared its ugly head. The general population believed that if a person was
thin, he or she may have the virus. The media began looking for healthier women to use to sell
products. In the 1980 s, the Wilhelmina Modeling Agency found Gia Carangi, the first supermodel.
Gia sported a healthy, yet sexy appearance. Sadly, Gia needed to use drugs to deal with the
pressures of maintaining perfection. Sadly, IV drug use led to her tragic death. On November 18,
1986, 26 year old Gia died of AIDS related pneumonia.
Social Status
Today, print ads feature women with obvious social status. Veneers over teeth, name brand

Differences Between Ebay And Amazon
Think of any situation, and there are likely pros and cons. The same is true when deciding whether
to expand your sales to Amazon. The fact is, neither eBay nor Amazon can claim to be the best
across the board nowadays.
Many eBay sellers have wondered if it s really worth selling on Amazon. Some feel there are too
many rules and it wouldn t be worth the effort. Some have asked for a point by point comparison
between the two sites. Here are a dozen points of comparison that may help sellers make a decision.
1. Fees
2. Format (Auction vs. Fixed price)
3. Community
4. Stability
5. Feedback
6. Branding

If Amazon cannot collect the payment, you don t have a sale, and your item is still listed on their
site. eBay s system is simply more work, more time, and ultimately costs more to manage as a seller.
Advantage: Amazon
11. Return Policy
Some eBay sellers fear Amazon because of their obligatory return policy, called the A z Guarantee.
This guarantee allows the buyer to receive a full refund if the item is materially different from that
described, for up to 90 days. Amazon will usually side with the buyer. Sounds pretty tough.
The eBay seller is free to fight it out with buyers with a dispute resolution. This could ultimately
result in negative feedback for the seller. They are not required to offer a refund. If eBay forces
sellers to use PayPal for payments though, your funds could be held or you may even receive a
charge back against your account. It s basically the same difference, but the eBay / PayPal route is
a lot messier and time consuming. If you have a buyer that is determined to get a refund, they ll
generally figure a way to get it.
Simply based on the time consuming mess the dispute resolution process is, I m

These claims included accusations that Napster was response for allowing users to infringe upon
existing copyrights and were even encouraging users to download unlicensed copyrighted materials.
When the recording industry won this landmark lawsuit, Napster stopped offering their file sharing

Quality Improvement Analysis
From the article we read about Toyota I loved the quote; You can t solve problems unless you
admit them (Fishman, 2006). To me this is what quality improvement is all about. I would apply
principles of quality improvement in my current practice a few different ways. First, I would look
at the big picture. What needs to be changed? How can I take better care of my patients? After
answering these questions implementing new techniques would need to occur. Lastly, I would
make sure that my team and myself were all on the same page. Every team member needs to know
what is going on and the objectives we are trying to meet in the long run. At Toyota, there is a
presumption of imperfection. Perfection is a fine goal, but improvement is much more realistic,
much more human (Fisher, 2006).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If I were to apply our design of quality improvement to where I plan on working using Roger s
Diffusion of Innovation Theory I would use his five elements to help me along. According to
Rogers there are five elements of a new or substitute clinical behaviour that will each partly
determine whether adoption or diffusion of a new activity will occur: relative advantage,
compatibility, complexity, trialability and observability (Sanson Fisher, 2004). Michelle and I
decided hiring new nurses and using existing float nurses would improve compliance rates because
there would be a smaller patient to nurse ratio. Before applying our design I would take Roger s
five elements into consideration when approaching staff about a quality improvement project
because ultimately how well the design works is based off staff accomplishment. This approach is
compatible to current unit needs and can be easily adopted. We plan to do an audit quarterly to see
if our new approach is improving compliance rates on the unit and is meeting the Joint Commissions

Analysis Of The Movie Poor Kids
There are millions of people in poverty. People can be very well off and then within a few
months they could become poor. Becoming poor can cause a lot of stress and depression. The
movie Poor Kids displays how being poor can affect kids and their families. In order for one to
better understand how being poor affects the economy, one could view Poor Kids to see
examples of how being poor affects children s activities, children s future jobs, and their health.
When a family is poor, there are not very many activities for the children to partake in. In Poor
Kids, Kaylie Hageman and her siblings spend most of their days trying to make money for the
family. Her family is very poor because her mother can not hold a well enough paying job long
enough to pay their bills. Most days Kaylie s older brother goes around town mowing lawns for
$10 a lawn while Kaylie collects cans to refund. This is very hard on kids since they do not have
enough money to buy items for activities. Instead of playing games, the kids have fun by earning
money which almost all of it goes to the mother to pay off bills. This can lead to stress and
depression, which can affect a childs motivation to make friends or work hard in life. If the child
does not have motivation, they will not acquire the skills necessary to obtain and keep a job that
can help them survive. While children have a hard time in partaking in activities, being poor in
childhood can affect their future lives as well. When

Harrison Bergeron Hero
Harrison Bergeron
In Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut, a society set in the future is controlled by a
government who claims to make all people equal, when in reality, they are filled with
corruption. Harrison Bergeron, an elite young teenager, sees the malfeasance in the government,
and decides to stand up for the greater good of the nation. In order to do this, Harrison removes
all of the handicaps placed on him by the government and reveals it to the world on live
television, eventually being shot and killed. Many people may see Harrison as a threat to his
society due to the unnecessary chaos he caused. However, because he sparked the idea of rebellion
in a civilization desperate for freedom, Harrison Bergeron can be considered a hero to society.
Harrison s actions of can be described as heroic due to the fact that he attempted to revolutionize
the society in a way that benefitted the population as a whole, not just himself. Many other
people were angered and confused by the idea of handicaps, and by standing up to the
government when all other people were afraid to do so, he acted in a selfless manner, a
characteristic of a true hero. An example of another person doubting the intentions of the Handicap
General can be seen at the beginning of the story, when George, Harrison s father, realizes that it is
unfair to place the hindrance of a handicap on a ballerina. On page 2, the text states, George was
toying with the vague notion that maybe dancers shouldn t be

Common Law and National Consumer Law
Chapter 1 1. Why did common law become so rigid and inflexible? Answer: By the reign of
henry II, the practice of sending the royal justice throughout the country on circuit began to result
in fairly uniform body of law developing around the country the common law. The judges were
assisted in finding an agreement among them by keeping records known as plea rolls. They set
out not only the facts of each case and judgement, but often the reasoning behind the judgement, in
much the same way as the modern law reports does. During the reign of henry II writs came into
wide use. They were purchased from the king s clerks of chancery and stated the complaint,
ordering the name person either to right the wrong or to show the king s justices... Show more

Explain Answer: law is basically a device to regulate the economic and social behaviour of
society. Generally laws are created by people to maintain harmony in the society and the
country. As people have to follow the certain rules of the country or society, there is a sense of
responsibility people feel. If people lived in complete isolation and didn t carry on any economic
activity or recognise any superior authority, there would be no need for laws to exist because
there would be nothing to regulate or control. However, the reality is otherwise. People don t
live in complete isolation and economic activity is carried on. The law, as regulatory device,
provides the mechanism for society to function by prioritising needs and desires through tools
such as legislation. All these laws are made by the superiors at the higher stages. Even the
people establishing these laws have to follow the same laws so it has to be made regarding the
needs of the people. The people creating laws have the power to organise all these laws and
should be pass the law according to the demand of time and the need of the people. All the other
tests cannot be ignored as law because they at some stages describe law. But somehow other
statements are less effective. Like, law is not only a command by a political superiors because all
kinds of law are not commanded by political superiors or inferiors. It could be family law
commanded by the eldest

A few states call the SCHIP program by the term Children s Health Insurance Program .
The Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare provides opportunities to boost and
strengthen children s healthcare coverage (Rudawitz, 2014). ACA requires states to improve
coverage for children by transitioning coverage for all children up to 133% Federal Poverty Line
(FPL) to Medicaid (Rudawitz, 2014). With enrollment increasing the CHIP program will need
additional funding. If the funding is reauthorized the program will have enhanced funding from
2016 2019. According to Rudawitz the future of CHIP reauthorization will have important
implications for children s coverage. Funding for CHIP reauthorization will be challenging and
more research will need to highlight obstacles to coverage as well as changes in coverage between
CHIP and the Marketplace to understand the consequences tied to CHIP reauthorization.
CHIP focuses on low income children in working families who earn too much to qualify for
Medicaid but not enough to be able to purchase health insurance coverage on their own. CHIP s
supporters recognize the value of investing in children s coverage to make sure that all children
have access to medical care they need to grow up to become healthy and productive adults. CHIP
has been enormously successful, helping to reduce the number of low income uninsured children
by a remarkable 67.9%. (Shapiro, April 2016). The CHIP program gives families the

  • 2. Pentecostal Movement Its Impact Among the Dalits and... I. Introduction The prime focus of this paper is to explore the modern Pentecostal or charismatic movement and its impacts among the Dalits and the tribal in India. In this paper the presenter will also try to bring out a brief origins and historical development of Pentecostalism, in order to understand the movement and its impact on the Dalits and the tribal in India. 1. Etymology of the term Pentecostal The term Pentecostal is derived from the Greek word pentekostГ© which literally means fifty . It is the Greek name for the Jewish festival known as the Feast of Weeks in the Old Testament, which celebrates the fiftieth day after Passover observances. The New Testament used the term to refer to the established Jewish feast. However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the Azusa Street revival on April 1906, Azusa Street soon became the Mecca for thousands of visitors around the world. The people who visited this place went back to their homelands spread this new experience and spread the Pentecostalism to other parts of the world and formed Pentecostal churches. From the Azusa Street revival in Los Angeles, Pentecostalism spread rapidly around the world and began its advance toward becoming a major force in Christendom. 5. Pentecostalism Movement in India We have observed the modern Pentecostal movement in the 20th century that sparked out of the revivals that took place at Azusa Street, Los Angeles, which spread rapidly to the ends of the earth. Most of the scholars traced back the origin of Pentecostalism to the Azusa Street revival in 1906. However, it is not yet firmly established as to when the Pentecostalism started in India because prior to the coming of Pentecostal missionaries in the 20th century there were Pentecostal like events in the history of Christianity in India. According to Gary McGee, the eminent historian of Assemblies of God, Pentecostalism had already established itself in India long before word of Azusa reached the subcontinent. He validated by showing the documentary evidence that Pentecost, with all the associated phenomena, came ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay on Narrative Style and Structure of James and the... Narrative Style and Structure of James and the Giant Peach The books that Roald Dahl has written have very interesting narrative styles. In the story James and the Giant Peach, Dahl uses vivid imagination. He uses many imaginary situations but yet at the same time encompasses enough realistic situations that the reader can still relate to it. In James and the Giant Peach, it starts out introducing a boy named James Henry Trotter who lives with his loving mother and father. The narrator of the book tells us, the readers, that James and his family s dream is to sail to New York City and climb all the way to the top of the Empire State Building. This introduction makes us think that this story is realistic, because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These bugs carry on many different human like characteristics, which help make Dahl s imaginative story seem somewhat realistic. All of these bugs talk to James about how they hate life on the hill and a bug eats away the stem of the peach and they go rolling down the hill. Throughout the story the peach, with all of the characters inside, is on a dangerous adventure. After going through oceans and winds, the peach lands them on the top of the Empire State Building. The bugs help capture the evil aunts and they live happily together. This story is told in the third person point of view, which helps the reader understand the whole story and not just one character s side. If the story was told by just one character s point of view, the story could be similar but one would only see the view of that character. By Dahl using third person point of view, this allows the readers to see each characters views and thoughts of what is happening in the story. Also, throughout the book Dahl has the narrator asking many questions to make the reader imagine what is going to happen next. Usually the question comes toward the end of a page so the reader has to wonder or is caught in suspense until the page is flipped. This gives the reader a chance to use their imagination and guess what happens next. I believe this sort of writing helps Dahl pull his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The other boys wanted to go straight to the platform and climb tomorrow but Jack s id could not control himself and he had an angry outburst. I m going up the mountain. Charter schools are schools working in the public sector of education while also being privately owned. Charter schools are privately run, but receive public funding. There has been much debate since the sprouting of Charter schools about the demographics being represented and underrepresented. While there is evidence to support both sides of this argument, it should be clear to anyone after doing the research that charter schools are an overall negative aspect of the educational system. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teachers could potentially get a pay raise or a pay cut according to they type of school they work for as well as the amount of funding that particular school receives. The parents of the students also have something to gain or lose here. Most parents, if not all, want the best life possible for their children. Parents play a big role in this issue, in that they are the ones who will make the final decision on whether their child goes to a public school, a private school, or a charter school. There are three main types of schools that students currently attend. The most prevalent school is the public school system. Funded by the government through taxes, this school usually has higher class sizes. The second is private schools which can have religious affiliations, and often do. However, that is not to say that all private schools have religious affiliations. To attend one of these schools, more often than not, the parents and students must have a higher socioeconomic status than most. Finally, charter schools are specialized schools that are fairly new in the spectrum. There are a few obvious stakeholders in this conversation. The first would be the students that attend the various schools that are in question. They are the ones whose education is at stake depending on the kind of school they attend. This dream is usually sought after by people who have been deprived of things such as the freedom to do what they want or the ability to have what they want. The Roman empire was divided into an east and west. The Western Empire would last until 467 C.E., while the Eastern Empire would stand through the next century. Although the Western Empire outlasted the Eastern Empire it still faced its own challenges and would collapse in 1453. Many historians have considered the fall of the Roman Empire and the reasoning behind it. Edward Gibbon would be the first to propose his theories about the topic. Other historians such as Peter Heather, Peter Brown, and Henri Pierenne have studied many sources and have come up with their own theories. Considering all historians points of view, I think that Peters Heather s ideologies make the most plausible case. They live in warm, deep waters near islands and equatorial oceans. They stay around 1,000 meters in the day and 300 meters at night. • 12. The Influence Of The Traditional Family Dinners 1. How has the traditional family meal changed from the 1950s until now? Subsequent to watching the videos and comparing the differences between families back in the 1950 s and now, it is evident that there are many factors which have influenced the change in the traditional family meal. Firstly, in the 1950 s there was more of a traditional family structure. Therefore, the majority of families were nuclear, consisting of a mother, father, and children. Nowadays, there has been major changes to the structure and definition of families. In today s generation, the trend of marriage is decreasing, and divorce rates are rising, resulting in various different family structures. For example, the percentage of single parent families has doubled since 1961. Due to this, single parents are forced to work in order to support their families, consequently leaving less time for family dinners. , Back in the 1950 s, family dinners were formerly a regular daily occurrence that members of the family looked forward to. It was a priority and meant to be a positive, stress free experience. Furthermore, family dinners have become less of a priority due to the increased businesses of people s lives and the changes in priorities in general. In contrast to back then, the idea of family has become more of a second thought, rather than taking precedence over than everything else. Sculptures, paintings, clothing, music, and poems are just a few of the vast art forms. Artwork comes not only in different forms, but different styles as well, such as abstract, representational, and nonrepresentational styles, which are some of the most common in the world of art. When it comes to the history, medium, and technique of an artwork, there are two specific pieces that really stand out to me. When Dreams Come True by Leonid Afremov and Mariposa by Beatriz Milhazes are two masterfully crafted works of art that caught my eye almost immediately. Leonid Afremov is a modern impressionistic style of an artist. Impressionist paintings seek to recreate the viewer s or artists general impression of a depicted scene. The style is generally characterized by faint outlines and small brushstrokes of various colors, that the eye tends to blend together at a distance. Representational is a word commonly used to describe art forms that relate to the natural world in which we live in and are easily translated by the audience, which is exactly what Leonid Afremov did with When Dreams Come True while using abstract, or out of the ordinary, colorways. The history behind this artwork is shown in the 19th century impressionistic style that is used as well as the vibrant and contrasting colors used. Capitalism And The Communist Manifesto can only be effected through a union, which by the character of the proletariat itself can again only be a universal one, and through a revolution, in which, on the one hand, the power of the earlier mode of production and intercourse and social organization is overthrown, and, on the other hand, there develops the universal character and the energy of the proletariat, without which the revolution cannot be accomplished; and in which, further, the proletariat rids itself of everything that still clings to it from its previous position in society. Areas I want to learn more about: The ideas of the ruling class are in every epoch the ruling ideas. Specifically, more examples about how this operates in society and by what mechanisms (is it media? family? any others?). Pre capitalist societies and how they transitioned to capitalism. Marx and Engels make a few broad generalizations in The German Ideology and The Communist Manifesto, but I want to see in more detail about how the transition to capitalism took place, and how it was different in different regions. Applications of materialist history. Marx spends a lot of time describing he materialist conception of history but I would like to learn more about how other historians have used it. Finding the zipper and pressing down on the tent releases the trapped air and the faint smell of dust. He had a resolute intent to do what is right, true, and just, which made him the Archbishop that people remember and make movies about. The Importance Of Military Deception Military Deception (MILDEC) is applicable at all levels of war and can be implemented within any phase of military operations to deter hostile actions and increase success of friendly defensive and offensive operations. To achieve these goals and objectives policy and doctrine which is the driving force for everything the United States Military does will need to be sound and able to navigate the geopolitical environment. These critical principles serve as one of the most important aspects when discussing or implementing MILDEC. In addition, these principles serve as a guide when developing plans by providing knowledge based experience (literature/doctrine) and nest authority with legal backing for the Geographical Combatant Commander (GCC) and the Joint Force Commander (JFC) when conducting MILDEC operations. In the following paragraphs, I will illustrate how creative thinking was incorporated through MILDEC into military action which lead to successful operations. Deception operations have been employed in warfare throughout history, with the earliest mentions being 1294 BC when Pharaoh Ramses II of Egypt led his army against the Hittite stronghold of Kadesh. Two Hittite soldiers volunteered to lead Egyptian elements against their former comrades. This trust proved to be devastating for the pharaoh because of their desired perception of the two informants. • 26. Comparing Cops And The Literary Versions Of The Maltese... Cops and Chiaroscuro In the film and the literary versions of The Maltese Falcon, cops are portrayed differently because of the distinct tools available to each media. The written descriptions of the novel give people on the police force a personality, so that they are humanized. On the other side, the film creates a cynical depiction of cops, where policemen are less complex humans than the criminals of the world, so this portrayal makes the film s world appears grimmer than the literary world. In lieu of written description, the lighting of Huston s The Maltese Falcon (1941) causes the policemen to lack some of the depth that they had in Hammett s novel of The Maltese Falcon (1929) because the lighting creates fewer contrasting shadows... In figure 2, Polhaus and Dundy wear nearly identical outfits, they have the same grim expressions, and they have extremely similar lighting on their faces, clothes, and hands. In figure 3, they both appear menacing with the same dark lighting and this lighting reinforces the idea that Spade is more trustworthy than the cops. Figures 2 and 3 illustrate how the individuals in the police force have been blurred, so that they are nearly the same. It has already been established that the lack of contrast in shadows on the faces of the cops makes them less complex characters, and since all the cops are similar, it means nearly all are superficial in a way, and that Spade is more human than all of them because he is in charge of his own actions and morals. The cops in the film have been transformed from characters into plot devices and obstacles for Spade to get around. This de characterization of the police forces people to relate to criminals and morally ambiguous private investigators like Spade. The world of the film is bleaker than the world of the novel because cops, who are meant to protect and serve others, have been slightly discredited. • 28. What Is The Comparison Of The Magnificent Seven And Seven... The films, The Magnificent Seven , and, Seven Samurai , essentially portray the same events in action, especially in the introductory scene. However, The Magnificent Seven , portrays the western version while Seven Samurai takes place in an eastern village. The films also choose a different order to show events and to go about each event. They do, however, portray the same basic idea: an innocent villagefaces bandits who have no intentions besides pillaging and stealing all belongings from the villagers, even if death of villagers must come from their intentions. The scene I have chosen to compare between the two films is the introduction scene. I have chosen to analyze and compare this scene from each film because while they show direct similarities in events as well as camera angles, the films differ in many ways as well. The scene in, The Magnificent Seven, begins with the bandits riding in on horses over a hill top towards a village to the tune of peppy western music. This scene is shot as a far away angle and is done so with no verbal communication, almost as if the bandits all have one common goal and they do not have to discuss with one another to know that is their intentions. This leads to the viewer being required to view the scene as a whole and consider what the intentions of these men must be and why they feel that way. When the men arrive to the village, the viewer is given little to no information regarding the village. The viewer then begins to wonder: Who are these people? , Did they do something to deserve this? , Maybe they know each other personally. The bandits then approach the villagers as if they own the place . They are asking for drinks, sitting down as they please, and even taking as they wish. The villagers seem to go along with this as though they are used to it and intend to fully comply. This can be seen through the conversation between the bandit and villagerwhere the villager talks very quietly, slurring his words, and telling the bandit what he wants to hear. The bandits then begin to leave as a villager runs after the bandits with intentions of standing up to them, almost to be leading the village to rebell. These light require on average one quarter of the energy needed for a comparable incandescent light. For example a 60 watt incandescent could be replaced by a 15 watt CFL. This is because CFLs are 75% more efficient at producing light. Hence less energy is wasted as heat. If every household in the U.S. replaced one light bulb with CFL it would prevent enough carbon dioxide released to equal removing one million cars from the road. CFLs last 6 10 times longer then standard lights and are being endorsed by the government through their Energy Star program (Church). Another possible replacement for the incandescent light that is becoming more widespread is light emitting diodes (LEDs). However, in mutants, the different directions of axonoutgrowth from the HSN cell body scored to create a probability distribution for axon outgrowth activity directions, diffusion and displacement (Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Using the probability distribution, we compared the probabilities in wild type and mutants. For example, UNC 6/Netrin extracellular guidance cues can decreases or increase the probability of UNC 40 activity at each side of the neuron. Thus, this probability is directed as a stochastic process. In more evidence, the probability of axon outgrowth activity in ventral direction is decreased, whereas the probability of axon outgrowth in other directions is increased in mutants (Xu et al., 2009; Kulkarni et al, 2013; Yang et al., 2014; Tang and Wadsworth, 2014). Therefore, the guidance cues control the direction of movement fluctuates over time. Gatsby, however, did not realize the futility of his dream which ended up costing him his life. The Great Gatsbywas written by Fitzgerald in 1925 and takes place in the summer of 1922. The belief that anyone could get rich through hard work was still alive at the time and is evident in the novel as both Gatsby and Carraway are newly rich characters. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females, ranging from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where participants are shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the images in one of two categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study will be to ask the participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with their significant other continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a stranger (See Appendix). I hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a mother breastfeeding in a public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of shirtless men playing football in the park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the conclusion that people are more likely to take offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to seeing a shirtless man. For example, if a person is residing within an specific polity as undocumented, throughout the years (this is something that should be contemporary relevant for all of us) the person will have created a huge network of social ties and multiple distinct types of relationships. After several years of a person doing this, one must see the moral claim that a person should have the right to citizenship. The contemporary rules to acquire citizenship are made from beliefs and they violate the human right to freedom of conscience. Renouncing other citizenships serves no purpose for the state. In fact, these are abuses that will discriminate against the poor (the process is expensive), and the civic citizenship test is an undemocratic standardize test that reveals nothing else the unfairness and nation centric view of the state. Improving Athletic Performance Competitive and recreational athletes typically use preparatory exercises such as warm up and stretching to prepare the body for vigorous physical activity (Worrell, Smith, Winegarden, 1995). For many years, stretching before athletic competition has been recommended to prepare the athlete for the event (Unick, Kieffer, Cheesman, Freeney, 2005), and stretching has traditionally been considered as an essential component of warm up routines to prepare muscles for activity, enhance performance, and prevent injuries (Gleim McHugh, 1997; Marek et al., 2005; Schilling, 2000). The use of stretching as part of warm up routines comes from the belief that stretching will aid in athletic performance and help prevent injury as well as decrease musclestiffness, increase range of motion, alleviate pain (Schilling Stone, 2000; Unick, Kieffer, Cheesman, Freeney, 2005). Realizing this the United States of America has attempted to once again turn its focus eastward. Continuing problems at home and in the Middle East however have made doing so difficult. Additionally more and more frequently attempts at influencing the ongoing narrative in the Asia Pacific region have been rebuffed. Even allies have found strength in the emergence of a system that fails to conform to previously prescribed methods and ideals. This leads to a fundamental question America must answer quickly. Has the growing hypocrisy of idealistic political rhetoric versus actual foreign policy finally undermined American credibility with developing nations, or for the purposes of this paper more specifically China? In order for one to better understand how being poor affects the economy, one could view Poor Kids to see examples of how being poor affects children s activities, children s future jobs, and their health. When a family is poor, there are not very many activities for the children to partake in. In Poor Kids, Kaylie Hageman and her siblings spend most of their days trying to make money for the family. Her family is very poor because her mother can not hold a well enough paying job long enough to pay their bills. Most days Kaylie s older brother goes around town mowing lawns for $10 a lawn while Kaylie collects cans to refund. This is very hard on kids since they do not have enough money to buy items for activities. Instead of playing games, the kids have fun by earning money which almost all of it goes to the mother to pay off bills. This can lead to stress and depression, which can affect a childs motivation to make friends or work hard in life. Generally laws are created by people to maintain harmony in the society and the country. As people have to follow the certain rules of the country or society, there is a sense of responsibility people feel. If people lived in complete isolation and didn t carry on any economic activity or recognise any superior authority, there would be no need for laws to exist because there would be nothing to regulate or control. However, the reality is otherwise. People don t live in complete isolation and economic activity is carried on. The law, as regulatory device, provides the mechanism for society to function by prioritising needs and desires through tools such as legislation.
