False Confessions Of Ward And Fontenot Essay
False Confessions
The confessions of Ward and Fontenot to raping and murdering Denice Haraway are the most
incriminating evidence against the pair. However, these are false confessions and do not prove
anything, but would in fact prove that the pair know nothing about what happened to Denice. The
events leading up to the confessions are the first indication that the confessions are false, and at
the very least tainted. As previously stated, The OSBI administered a polygraph test to Ward to
determine his involvement with Denice Haraway s disappearance. The agent who administered
the test, Rusty Featherstone, told Ward that he had failed the test Mayer, 1987, p. 54). This may
have been true, and even if it was, it means nothing. If it was not true, then the police had made a
false evidence ploy. That is when the police say they have evidence against a suspect in an
attempt to get the suspect to confess. If a person has truly committed the crime, they are likely to
confess, but if the suspect is innocent, he would just become confused as to how the police have
evidence for a crime he did not commit. To elicit a confession, police would continue to insist that
they have evidence, until the suspect begins to doubt himself, and perhaps eventually confess. The
persistence of the police, in conjunction with a lengthy interrogation would wear down the suspect.
Ward s interrogation went on for five hours before he was ready to confess Mayer, 1987, p. 56).
The questioning was also

Inferential Reasoning In Sherlock Holmes
ABSTRACT
Inferential reasoning is a central component of statistics. It is suggested that we should develop an
informal understanding of the ideas that underlie inference before learning the concepts formally.
This report is designed to help people to learn the concept of Abduction and Deduction in the
context of the one and only consulting detective of all times Sherlock Holmes.
Criminal investigations, and trials, depend upon inferential reasoning. Theories, hypotheses and
conclusions, are drawn from the evidences which are provided in the case. The victim s blood
was on the knife; we supposed it was the murder weapon. The suspect s fingerprints are on the
knife; we supposed he killed the victim. Sherlock Holmes, although a fictional character in 21st
century, remains renowned as a great detective of all times. However, his methods, which were
abduction and deduction, are used by many real detectives, is rarely described, discussed or
researched. This report compares and contrasts the two forms of inferential reasoning which are
deduction and abduction and the role of it in Sherlock s work, and training of police officers by him.

What Does The Ballad Of Flannery Street Mean
The Ballad of Calvary Street by James K. Baxter is a poem used effectively in order to develop
the key idea of appearance vs.reality. This idea is developed in the poem to reinforce idea of
Baxter s underlying dislike for modern suburbanised society. He struggled throughout his life to
understand modernized society. Growing up as a Catholic, he eventually came to an epiphany and
realised the New Zealandhe knew was filled with hypocritical middle class values that he did not
respect. In this poem, we are given an insight into these ideas. This poem is relevant to New
Zealanders, as James K. Baxter appeared to evaluate New Zealand society harshly and his
judgements were always from the perspective of one intimately involved in the social process.
James K. Baxter, who found intolerable depersonalisation, centralisation and decentralisation of
urban civilisation could still find reason for hope in the hearts of people . His criticisms of
national life and his ultimate decision to step out of the mainstream are admired by many. He
incorporates the extensive use of religious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of imagery helped readers to understand the misinterpretation of the Baxter family and
how dull the suburban life really is. The first religious symbol is in the title of the poem Ballad of
Calvary Street. This is ironic because Calvary Street is the street which Jesus walked to his place
of crucifixion, therefore having this street name as the title of the poem suggests that the street is
not a nice place to live. Another religious image James K. Baxter created throughout the poem was
hammer nails which is symbolism for Jesus being hung of the cross and white trellises is imagery
created to represent the cross Jesus was hung on. Throughout the poem there is also a lot of
repetition, which emphasises the idea of the dull life that the family lives

Food Loss And Its Effects On Food Production
Introduction
In an age of plenty, there continues to be considerable and intolerable inefficiencies that generate
extreme consequences in this world. Food loss is a pure example of this. Food loss represents the
edible amount of food that is available for human consumption but is not consumed for any reason,
which is discarded towards the front of the food supply chain, including harvest, post harvest, and
processing (Lipinski 2013). The production of the food in the United States is inefficient because
of its inability to create and process food without generating excessive amounts of waste. In the
United States alone, about 40 percent of its food is wasted daily much of it due to ineffectual food
production processes. In and of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of these foods, fresh produce naturally has the greatest production losses due to its perishable
nature (Gunders 7). Farmers grow their crops in accordance with demand, although it is
exceedingly difficult to gauge that specific match. It is important, however, to separate the
category of farming into two distinct measures, as they differ in how food loss is analyzed:
unharvested food and lost food between production and consumption. Farmers, whether it is
through a small family owned farm or a highly industrialized factory farm, are required to
provide very dependable volumes that not only meet the quantity expectations of buyers, but the
quality specifications that become extremely inspected. To provide insurance for themselves at
the risk of losing crops due to unforeseen circumstances, like bad weather, pests, blemishes, or
other imperfections, farmers will naturally grow more than they are expected to sell, as they have
little to no choice in worrying about customers (NRDC 2012). This predication is based on the
prerogatives that each of these farmers choose to go through they would much rather see their
produce go to waste than the potential of losing profit, which leads to great food loss. This is a
classic example of production exceeding demand. The economic realities for farmers are too
significant to ignore.
Market prices also hold significant reign on whether or not farmers

It Is I, Donato Bramante
It is I, Donato Bramante. Through mysterious circumstances that I cannot yet explain, I have
somehow managed to travel into the future. I am told it is the year 2015, and I am in the land
that the man named Columbus recently discovered! It is said this land is called Washington . Last
thing I knew, it was the year 1514, and I was a sickly man in Rome. I m feeling much better now.
Luckily there is a magnificent building right down the road from me called the United States Capitol
Building. I feel like I am back at home in Rome when I see such a building! The people of this
strange land say this building houses the government of their country. I find this hard to believe. A

These columns are known as the Corinthian Order. My plan for St. Peter s called for these same
columns to circle the largest dome of the basilica. The Capitol Building pulls this same strategy
off perfectly! Surely, the architects of the building known as William Thorton, Benjamin Henry
Latrobe, and Charles Bulfinch (SOURCE), must have drew upon my plan of St. Peter s for
inspiration. I am not sure if they knew this or not, but I also used classical columns on another
masterpiece of mine that is known as the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE).
Unlike at St. Peter s, at the Tempietto I used the Doric order of columns (SOURCE). I find both
orders to be great outlets of my artistic abilities, and both pleasing to the eye. Besides the
columns, another feature of the Capitol Building that I have marvelous is the beautiful, gigantic,
dome in the center. I used a dome structure on both of my famous works that I mentioned before,
namely my plan for St. Peters, and the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). I would
say, however, that the dome on the Capitol is much larger (SOURCE)! Especially compared to
that of my Tempietto. It must have taken master craftsmen many years to complete such a feat in
architecture and engineering (SOURCE). While I do find the dome to be a great work, I think it
may be a little too different from the great domes of my work. Compared to my dome of St.
Peters, the Capitol s dome seems to

Stephen Chbosky Biography
Middle school can be painful for any kid, but, as Wonder begins, we suspect it s going to be
especially hard for 10 year old Auggie Pullman.
After 27 surgeries to help him see, breathe and hear, Auggie (played by Jacob Tremblay) doesn t
look like other children. He s small and scarred, with a high pitched, scratchy voice and a braided
rattail. He usually wears an astronaut helmet when he leaves the house. But after years of being
home schooled by his mother (played by Julia Roberts), he s preparing to join his peers at New
York s Beecher Prep.
Dear God, please make them be nice to him, Auggie s mom says to his dad (played by Owen
Wilson) as they watch him walk into school for the first time.

is in the background. Auggie s mother makes a particularly interesting character as a woman who
gave up her dreams of a Ph.D. to care for her son. Now, she feels both thrilled and guilty about
getting her own life back.
Meanwhile, although Auggie aces every pop quiz, he struggles socially at school. One toxic
teacher s pet (played by Bryce Gheisar) mercilessly teases him whenever adults are out of earshot.
Predictably, after a few difficulties, Auggie makes some meaningful connections.

Michael Solifornia Drought Research Paper
For at least the past four years, California has been in a drought. Since it has been so long of a
drought, officials are finally starting to encourage people to diminish their usage of water. When
the encouragements are not working, they use force and statewide restrictions are put into place. In
an article titled ВЁThe Wrong Way to Think about California WaterВЁ by Michael Hiltzik, the
author rants on Californians for the amount of water that they use daily, yearly, and constantly.
However, the argument only supports one side. Nowhere did they mention how much water
Californians have already cut back when told to reduce how much water they use. The paragraph
only criticizes what we are doing now, other than coming up with reasonable ideas

Influence of the Western War on Current US Action
How western war influence current US action Afghanistan Iraq
Introduction
Cambridge Illustrated History of Warfare: The Triumph of the West published in 1995, edited by
Geoffrey Parker has explained a number of factors that have played a part in the dominance of the
western way of war. The western way included in here is more about the dominance of the western
culture or the European culture in wars as compared to the other factors that may include
technology or finance. Five main foundations according to Parker can define the western way of
war. These factors include being superior in military and war based technology, superior military
training and discipline, increased reliance on military theory, an increased competition between
European states that lead to increased military innovation and lastly, military innovation by
adoption of new and better technology (Parker, 2005, p. 67).
The five foundations of western war have helped US in gaining victory over countries like Iraq and
Afghanistan. The main aim of the paper will be to highlight how these five main factors play
important roles in the dominance of a country over another during a war. How the countries like
Iraq and Afghanistan are failing against the more powerful US army based on Parker s five
foundations of a western war will be considered in the paper.
These days one of the most important ongoing wars includes war against terrorism initiated by US
against the militants in Iraq and Afghanistan. One

Jim Carry
The youngest of four children born to Percy (an accountant and aspiring jazz saxophonist) and
Kathleen, Jim Carrey was an incurable extrovert from day one. As a child he performed
constantly, for anyone who would watch, and even mailed his rГ©sumГ© to The Carol Burnett
Show (1967) at age 10. In junior high he was granted a few precious minutes at the end of each
school day to do stand up routines for his classmates (provided, of course, that he kept a lid on it
the rest of the day). Carrey s early adolescence took a turn for the tragic, however, when the family
was forced to relocate from their cozy town of Newmarket to Scarborough (a Toronto suburb).

Playing a naive salesman who discovers that his entire life is the subject of a TV show, Carrey
demonstrated an uncharacteristic sincerity that took moviegoers by surprise. He won a Golden
Globe for the performance, and fans anticipated an Oscar nomination as well when it didn t
materialize, Carrey lashed out at Academy members for their narrow minded selection process.
Perhaps inspired by the snub, Carrey threw himself into his next role with abandon. After edging
out a handful of other hopefuls (including Edward Norton) to play eccentric funnyman Andy
Kaufman in Man on the Moon (1999), Carrey disappeared into the role, living as Kaufman and
his blustery alter ego Tony Clifton for months (Carrey even owned Kaufman s bongo drums,
which he d used during his audition for director Milos Forman). His sometimes uncanny
impersonation was rewarded with another Golden Globe, but once again the Academy kept
quiet. An indignant Carrey next reprised his bankable mania for the Farrelly brothers in Me,
Myself Irene (2000), playing a state trooper whose Jekyll and Hyde personalities both fall in
love with the same woman (RenГ©e Zellweger). Carrey s real life persona wound up falling for
her too a few months after the film wrapped, the pair announced they were officially a couple. By
then, Carrey had already slipped into a furry green suit to play the stingy antihero of Ron Howard
s How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). He plans to take a break from the limelight

In eight rounds of multilateral trade negotiation Uruguay Round , GATT (1947) developed its
domain representing intellectual property right, investment and service sector banking and

Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS), Trade Related Investment Measures

(Griesgraber, J, 1997).
TRIPS agreement, comprehensive multilateral agreement on intellectual property rights

industrial and layout design (Das, 1998). However, TRIPS agreement lacks of uniformity in
protection leading to identifying personal own preferences (Fowler,

mitigate negative consequences of artificial product production. For instance, pharmaceutical
industries in developing countries have current patent law, unavoidable license, for protection of
local manufacturers from challenges of frontier drugs production. This

Music Therapy Within Children And Adolescent Bereavement
Music Therapy Within Children and Adolescent Bereavement
While the bereavement process may be a universal chapter of life, the experience itself is
conclusively subjective. Specifically for younger individuals, bereavement is a very complex
encounter because developmental factors must be considered. The loss of an individual in a
child s life is heavily influenced by the time in which it occurs because coping mechanisms may
or may not be developed. For example, if a child does not understand the context of death, they
most likely will not have adequate coping skills to process this life changing experience. Children
and adolescents who are facing bereavement may face developmental relapse as well as changes in
social, behavioral, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their article, McFerran et al. gives a great representation of the role of music within the realm of
children and adolescent bereavement:
The function of music can be metaphorically represented as both a mirror and a window for the
teenager. The idea of music serving as a mirror reflects an emphasis on the personal, including the
intrapersonal and private roles that music can fulfill when there is no expectation of an audience
for their musical engagement... The contrary idea of music serving as a window encompasses the
social, interpersonal, and cultural functions that music naturally serves for young people.
(McFerran et al, p. 543 544).
Within the world of a teenager, the desire to feel normal is very natural. When going through the
bereavement process, these individuals undoubtedly need support, but this must be approached
with caution. By providing these individuals with a familiar variable, they may feel more
comfortable with sharing what emotions they may be experiencing. Various studies have concluded
that the relationship between children, adolescents, and music is very synonymous. Adolescents in
today s modern world tend to familiarize themselves with music in which they can relate.
Furthermore, this preferential music may provide that validation for teenagers who are grieving,
making it known that what they are feeling is not atypical.

The Flowers By Alice Walker Essay
Alice Walker shows Myops innocence and subsequent loss thereof through her usage of vivid
imagery as well as the small setting and symbolism in The Flowers . Myop s sudden exposure to
the harsh reality of racism surrounding her shatters her innocence. The tone of the short story
changes abruptly showcasing the main characters shift in how she sees the world. For she is
suddenly and violently thrust into a world in which skin color dictates how others in society
will treat her. There is a clear switch in tone in The Flowers as Myop is exposed to the world
outside her home. The initial tone of the short story is carefree and child like. Though the
perspective of the story is third person omniscient initially, it is still evident that we are viewing
the story through a child s lens. The young protagonist skips lightly from hen house to pigpen to
smokehouse showing that she is happy, excited even, to enjoy the natural setting weaved around
her. As Myop explores, it becomes evident that her family s financial situation is less than ideal.
Wandering towards the woods, she leaves behind the rusty boards of her family s sharecropper
cabin (Walker). Now with little else to weave a setting in the reader s mind one can already picture
the scene as well as the time period. Very little is written about the setting outside of the family
home and the surrounding woods. This supports the childlike tone of the beginning of the story as a
young child would not have experienced the

for the Dominican Republic s freedom from tyranny. One of the tyrannies suppressing the
Dominican people and a central motif of the novel is the relationship between man and woman.
Oftentime men can be seen controlling women throughout the novel. In a patriarchal society, this

While certain men take control, others sit back and try to keep the peace. It is this second type
of man that forces the women to stand up and fight the good fight. Despite how earnest their
conviction, the women had to lose in the end. All the Mirabal sisters had to die, except for the
sole survivor, DedГ©. While it seems like Trujillo having most of the Butterflies killed off proves
men to be in control. Trujillo had these women killed off in the most inhumane way. He did not
have the respect to kill his worst enemies himself, he had his henchmen do it. These men choked
the Mirabal sisters to death, then tossed them over the edge of the mountain road in a Jeep (303).
However, Trujillo ended up making these women martyrs, helping bring about his eventual
downfall. In their death, the Mirabal sisters helped bring an end to the dictatorship in what is now
known as the Dominican Republic, and also proved that it is the women, albeit behind the scenes,
that are infinitely more

A JOKE ! Globalization !
Question: What is the height of globalization?
Answer: Princess Diana s death.
Question: How come?
Answer: An English princess with an Egyptian boyfriend crashes in a French tunnel, driving a
German car with a Dutch engine, driven by a Belgian who was high on Scottish whiskey,
followed closely by Italian Paparazzi, on Japanese motorcycles, treated by an American doctor,
using Brazilian medicines! And this is sent to you by an Indian, using Bill Gates technology,
which he stole from the Japanese. And you are probably reading this on one of the IBM clones
that use Philippine made chips, and Korean made monitors, assembled by Bangladeshi workers in

Cultural imperialism overpowering local traditions; western ideals falsely established as universal.
McDonaldization a fast food doctored to spread efficient, controllable, and predictable human

Making Music With Different Online Programs
Making Music with Different Online Programs: High School student tries to become a Record
Producer
1.THE INTRODUCTION
I ve listened to a lot of music in my 514,561,058 seconds of life.
Of course the beginning first few years of my life did not consistent of heavy articulation and
rhythm interpretation, rather it was to see if I could sing back the ABC s or mumble the Arthur
theme song to my sister.
Most of the music influence I have was harvested back when I was eleven. I listened to a wide
variety of genres of music from pop, to rock, to rap, to country, to concert band music, even to
Bollywood music as that s what would be playing in my home as my mom cooked food for all of us.
The audio quality of the music always interested me. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I learned the correlation between blowing into an instrument and the sounds that come out.
This really changed my perception about music. I found myself enjoying the classical music that
I would be playing on my clarinet, but I always kept it in correlation with the new sounds and
technology music was sounding like. The new electronic based sounds created on the computer
with the melodies and movement like a classical piece set that a part for me. I think this was
generated by sounds from Kanye West and his albums such as Graduation, and 808s Heartbreaks,
even the blending of genres from Coldplay between pop tunes and classical music using
implications such as organs, bells, and synthesizers in doing so.
So what I ended up learning and continue to learn is I that like music really no matter what
condition it comes in. The examination of the work that takes place behind it demonstrates more
than what someone on the internet can tell me about how bad an album is or how weak the lyrics
are. Of course there s some analysis if a song is deemed as good or bad, but I always respect the
work that is done in order to produce music.
2.WHY I M DOING THIS?
I was given the opportunity to generate music on the computer. I wasn t necessary handed or forced
into doing this, but when the opportunity came, I decided to take it. My computer science teacher,

Accountability
The reason for this Rbi is to inform the reader of accountability, the duties of NCO s, and failure to

Websters dictionary describes accountability as the state of being accountable, liable, or
answerable and the DOD describes it as The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or
regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or
funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property,
documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is

Military members who fail to obey the lawful orders of their superiors risk serious consequences.
Article 90 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice makes it a crime for a military member to
willfully disobey a superior commissioned officer. Article 91 makes it a crime to willfully

any lawful order and the disobedience does not have to be willful under this artice.
It states that under article 90 during times of war a military member who willfully disobeys a
superior commissioned officer can be sentence to death. The importance of rules and regulations in
the military aswell as NCO s to uphold them in the military are there so a soldier knows how to act

Iron has been here since the ancient Greece time no one knows who discovered this element. In
fact, we still use this element to make structures steel, weapons, vehicles, anything that made of

Well-Organized Government In Ancient Egypt
Introduction
The people of ancient Egypt started as hunters and gatherers. Then they settled in the Nile river
valley. When the people settled the food was more plentiful. And when the food was more plentiful
there were more. And with more people, they had to have all of the seven indicators.
Government
Every complex society needs a well organized government. In ancient Egypt having a well
organized government was important. The pharaoh was the most important person in the
government. The Pharaoh was the supreme leader of all of ancient Egypt, they even called him a
god.The Pharaoh had so many things to do being a leader/god that he needed help. So the Pharaoh
decided who was the vizier(someone who helps the Pharaoh decide what to do) so someone ... Show

Ancient Egypt also had a complex religion that tied into well organized government. The ancient
Egyptians were deeply religious. The ancient Egyptians would never worship without being
purified. They also believed that their gods had supernatural powers, and if they worshiped their
gods they would live a happy and long life. A way to worship gods is to pay tributes. They were
so religious that they built temples. They would also perform ceremonies so that ancient Egypt
would not fall into chaos. How does complex religion tie into well organized government? Every
government has a pharaoh and in the religious perspective, the pharaoh is also a god. The people
of ancient Egypt would treat him like a god and worshiped him. They would pay tributes. And
when he died they covered him in gold and riches and everything he had before. According to
ducksters.com, the people built 2 types of temples the first is cultus and the second is Mortuary
the mortuary was built for the dead pharaoh. So the pharaoh got his own temple built. The
ancient Egyptians worked a lot for their religion. The ancient Egyptians were the ones that built
the pyramids and that took a lot of work. So why did the ancient Egyptians just slack and not to
do it? Well because it was apart of their religion and they had to do it. They also built the Sphinx
for their gods and religion. The ancient Egyptians also had big ceremonies that would take a lot of

Implications of Fdi in Insurance Sector in India
Implications of FDI in Insurance
To study the impact of FDI in insurance we first look at the how the Indian insurance sector has
evolved over the years. Indian insurance sector has experienced different phases from being an open
competitive market to being nationalized and back to deregulation. The Indian insurance story
began in India in the year 1818 with the establishment of the Oriental Life Insurance Company in
Kolkata. In the year 1912 the Indian Life Insurance Companies Act came into existence and laid out
policies and procedures to control insurance business in country. It was later amended in 1938 to
protect the public. The major change came in 1956 when the central government 245 private

Why Indian Insurance sector is attractive to Foreign Direct Investors?
Every industry has a unique market structure and it is considered that the relationship between
openness to foreign investment and market structure is complex. Caves, R E (1996) states that
there are empirical evidences which show the positive relationship between the extent of foreign
investment and the degree of market concentration. It could be said that foreign investment is
being attracted by industries with high concentration and high profitability. The short run effect of
foreign entry is to increase the number of firms and reduce concentration. After the reforms of
1999 FDI was allowed and the bar was set at 26% which did not really attract FDI as most big
MNCs look for more decision making power. On the contrary, the FDI limit in the insurance sector
is higher not only in other BRIC nations but also in other Asian countries such as Japan, Korea,
Indonesia and Malaysia, in comparison to India s 26%, which was a further disincentive for foreign
investors to invest in India. In spite of that, India has an immense and almost untapped potential
market for insurers, and is a highly attractive investment destination for foreign investors. The rise
of the educated middle class promises sustaining growth opportunities for the industry to start with.
Further, the presence of IRDA as a competent regulatory body promotes the interest of the insurers.
Beyond this lies the immense potential at the bottom

Becoming A Teacher At A Private School
.
Research into this career has expanded my knowledge excessively. Such as, there is a process
which has steps to becoming a teacher. Step one includes, learning about the education system.
Step two is to, decide if teaching is right for you. Obviously teaching is not the correct job for
someone who does not like children. Step three, find a degree program. Step four, choose the
correct specialty; in my case art. Step five, gain classroom experience. Step six, qualify for
certification. Then, step seven, get hired. Which results in step eight and nine, professional
expectations, benefits and teaching contracts. Finally step ten, the first year of teaching.
The education system is broken up into public and private education, there is a large difference
between them. When attempting to become a teacher at a private school, it may not be required to
have certification for their state or a teaching degree. Private schools are independent of the local,
federal and state government and establish their own individual education system. Ages ranging
from kindergarteners to high school adults can attend these schools when accepted and charged a
tuition. On the other hand, public schools are offered by the government and the curriculum taught
follows national and state standards; which is checked on and insured by standardized testing.
There is a limit for age, from kindergarten to twelfth grade; and when students become enrolled,
they stay until a certain age or grade. There are a

Environmental Education And The Urban Challenges
The topic I propose to develop my research in is environmental education and the urban challenges
it faces. The urgency of the current state of the environmental agenda makes it necessary to
promote environmental awareness in all generations as indispensable for a sustainable future.
Despite this, environmental education is still absent in most school programs and struggles to
compete with formal education when in fact they should be one and the same. Efforts to change
this have been recorded and so I propose to review literature on the topic. First, the literature
researchwill approach definition of environmental education as well as education for sustainable
developmentand definition and understanding of urban environmental... Show more content on

What is the current situation and context surrounding that topic? You should overview the general
subject area (and, where possible, the theoretical foundation as reported in published work) and
identify, in relation to the relevant reading you will have covered, a general problem that you can
tackle in your research.]
Sustainable development interconnects with the economic growth, nature conservation and the
concept of equality for all. Environmental education is a complex and dynamic field, and so, a
difficult one to assess. But given the urgency of the topic, its evaluation and better understanding
may provide us with the tools necessary to pursue sustainability. My primary motivation for the
research resides in the importance of sustainability as a vital practice for the future. The best way to
do this is through the spreading of knowledge and improvement of education and learning and find
what can be done to enhance it.
I find that it is necessary to understand the history and implementation of environmental education.
The use of the term environmental education itself is not considered relevant, especially due to the
fact that there is little agreement on it. Different authors have different opinions, such as Disinger
(1993), Wheeler (1985) and Sterling (1992). It is considered important, however, the actors in the
history of events that sought out for the need for an education for sustainable development.

For they too were in their own cells. They both were confined to the hurt and desperation of
having one of their children take her own life. Was it because of failure on their parts? The answer
to this they will never know. And so they will continue to live in the prison of ignorance.
Other elements that are seen throughout both of these films are infatuation and obsession.
Anyone who has seen the movie American Beauty can not miss Lester s obsession with Angela,
his daughter s classmate and friend. He first sees her when he and Carolyn go to see their
daughter perform at the school basketball game. Instantly he became mesmerized by her beauty
and couldn t stop the feelings he had for her. Obviously they were strictly sexual feelings. Is this
normal? Is it normal for a father to have any kind of feelings for their daughter s friend? It may
be normal but it is not what is correct. And so in order to portray the perfect family Lester tried
for a while to suppress the feelings he was having for Angela.
Carolyn is also a victim of obsession. She is overly obsessed with appearances. She often makes
comments to Jane about the way she looks. She feels that she cannot be happy unless she is
presented in an ideal way. Because of the necessity to keep up appearances, a serene facade often
conceals a breeding ground for dysfunction, anxiety, and hypocrisy (Berardinelli). An example of
this is when she is trying to sell a

Normal red blood cells live in the bloodstream for about 120 days and then die, whereas sickle
shaped blood cells typically last for about 10 to 20 days and the bone marrow cannot make new

Sickle cell anaemia is existent at birth, but many babies do not start showing symptoms until
after 4 months of age (What are the signs and symptoms of Sickle Cell Anaemia, 2012). The
signs and symptoms that a person will experience from sickle cell anaemia are caused by the
sickling of red blood cells. Painful episodes can occur when the sickle red blood cells get stuck
in small blood vessels due to them being so stiff, causing organ damage in the kidneys, spleen,

The Definition Of Effective Leadership
Definition of effective leadership
Most historians rank George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore
Roosevelt as America s finest leaders. Agreement on their quality is so strong, in fact, that in the
1920s, their likenesses were immortalized on Mount Rushmore, which has since become an iconic
symbol of great leadership.
On the other end of the spectrum, Warren G. Harding, Pierce, James Buchanan, and George W.
Bush are ranked as among our worst leaders. Herbert Hoover, John Tyler, and Millard Fillmore
sank to the bottom as well.
The unanimity among these rankings suggests that the qualities that make an effective leader do
not change with place and time, with the governed body or with the situation. America s sixth
president, John Quincy Adams, defined leadership this way: If your actions inspire others to
dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. I agree that effective
leadership is distinguished by four critical qualities: passion, vision, emotional intelligence, and
confidence. Leaders who possess these qualities are able to make a positive impact on their
institution as Adams did, improving American life through his strong hand on the wheel of the ship.
Without a leader s clear vision and guidance, a business is like a ship drifting aimlessly. The leader
s vision provides the map, establishing a path that leads to the desired destination. Effective leaders
create clear, concise visions that identify the key actions

Dance A Sport
Is Dance Considered a Sport? Three laps around the gym, minute long planks, crunches, sit ups,
and pushups in a matter of thirty minutes. As a dancer, experiencing and realizing the strength that
needs to be present in order for an athlete to grow is vital. We go through long hours of
choreography sessions, pain and strain on our bodies, and vigorous training. Many people will

Dance Will Always Be a Sport and the infographic entitled Is Dance a Sport? attack this
controversial dilemma. Even though these arguments use different formats, they use rhetoric
similarly.
In Esquibel s article, she battles with the use of ethos. Her article is created on a site called The

the Mary Elizabeth isn t credible because she doesn t pertain a profession or have a degree in the

while dealing with the pain and strain that their bodies are going through ( Esquibel 1). This may

August 26, 2016, the first day Colin Kaepernick takes a knee during the National Anthem in a

of the first amendment, but would that really show a good message to the fans of the team, your

country has had in a long time and I believe that we as people should not interfere with a situation

on the Navajo Nation. The second article gives an overview if the troubles of the Navajo due as

Although there appears to be multiple benefits to allowing mining on Navajo land, the majority
of them are not in favor of people of who reside there. One of the major benefits resulting from
mining is the increase in employment opportunities, which is in the opening of the article when a
resident discusses how under a shady tree, they offered steady work at union wages, (Rowe). As
the article continues, benefit of jobs appears to be only positive outcome for Navajo inhabitants,
while people who live in other regions benefit from the mining. The author of the article, Claudia
Rowe, talks about how the coal is for cheap electricity for much of the residential and business
development in the Southwest . The emphasis of the positive effects of mining on Navajo land and
people show how the benefits they receive are practically nothing comparing to the benefits of

What forms the basis of such vast and complex system of governance? One needs not to be an
Einstein to guess the answer. It is fundamental right to vote or simply voting in elections. Indian
constitution provide every adult above the age of 18 years irrespective of his/her religion,
region, caste, creed, color, economic status, education and sex the essential right to vote and
elect her/his candidate to represent her/him. Hence voting can be termed as backbone of not just
democracy in India but all around the world. Voting can be done in various ways. In early Roman
Empire voting used to be done by raising hands in favor or against. In board rooms voting is done
in similar way, some write their vote down, some choose to speak, some choose to cast vote using
latest technology.
Voting Techniques In India all earlier elections be it state elections or centre elections a voter used
to cast his/her vote to his/her favorite candidate by putting the stamp against his/her name and then
folding the ballot paper as per a prescribed method before putting it in the Ballot box. This is a
long, time consuming process and very much prone to errors. This method wanted voters to be
skilled voters to know how to put a stamp, and methodical folding of ballot paper. Millions of
paper would be printed and heavy ballot boxes would be loaded and unloaded to and from ballot
office to polling station. All this continued till election scene was completely changed by electronic
voting

Elizabeth Arden Inc. has a feature of flexible governance whereby the board is assisted by the
committee in directing the company (Elizabeth Arden Inc., 2015). With minimal organizational
layers the company ensures that there is a lot more cross functionality and horizontal
communication which intern reduces bureaucracy whilst encouraging associates in the
organization to develop skills across many functions. In our opinion, we believe that Elizabeth
Arden Inc. has a business to consumer business model as oppose to a business to business model.
The company attributes its success to paying keen attention to what their customers are interested
in and uses that information to stay relevant worldwide (Elizabeth Arden Inc., 2015). The most
famous collaborations of all Elizabeth Arden have, is with Allergan Inc., a renowned pharma

Data General
1.Tracy Kidder conveys the historic computer development competition between Digital Equipment
Corporation (DEC) and Data General in The Soul of A New Machine mainly through
chronological events; however, he refers to past events to delve deeper into his point and prove his
conclusions. While Kidder tries to deliver the story mainly through a neutral perspective, he tends
to reveal Data Generals side of the story with a focus on its employees stories causing a slight bias
towards Data General. Kidder continuously references some years back (Kidder 23), revealing that
he may be looking back and analyzing the events that occurred. His focus is also primarily on the
events that occurred and the people that influenced them; thus, Kidder briefly mentions the exact
year of each event by passing over it with short syntax: It was 1976 (Kidder 35). In addition, Kidder
tangents off to flashbacks of previously mentioned events or situations that occurred significantly

Tom West, a key person behind Data General, has his character developed throughout the story
primarily through the use of pathos. In the background, Kidder initially uses you multiple times
to connect the reader with the situation at hand and contrast West to the other people on the
boat by describing the others as lonely child[ren] (Kidder 4), as in those who feared the boat
journey ahead. West, on the other hand, is described as cheerful and ecstatic to be on a boat
journey from Maine to New York. Kidder then uses sensory details like his bony elbows and
sleeves rolled up in precise fold, like the pages of a letter (Kidder 28) to depict his physical
appearance, so readers can better understand his mannerisms and personality, especially in a work
setting. In addition, anecdotes about the regular roast parties West hosted, where his face all lit up
and was funny and warmhearted (Kidder 53), further adds to his intricate personality that contains
solemn and outgoing

  • 2. False Confessions Of Ward And Fontenot Essay False Confessions The confessions of Ward and Fontenot to raping and murdering Denice Haraway are the most incriminating evidence against the pair. However, these are false confessions and do not prove anything, but would in fact prove that the pair know nothing about what happened to Denice. The events leading up to the confessions are the first indication that the confessions are false, and at the very least tainted. As previously stated, The OSBI administered a polygraph test to Ward to determine his involvement with Denice Haraway s disappearance. The agent who administered the test, Rusty Featherstone, told Ward that he had failed the test Mayer, 1987, p. 54). This may have been true, and even if it was, it means nothing. If it was not true, then the police had made a false evidence ploy. That is when the police say they have evidence against a suspect in an attempt to get the suspect to confess. If a person has truly committed the crime, they are likely to confess, but if the suspect is innocent, he would just become confused as to how the police have evidence for a crime he did not commit. To elicit a confession, police would continue to insist that they have evidence, until the suspect begins to doubt himself, and perhaps eventually confess. The persistence of the police, in conjunction with a lengthy interrogation would wear down the suspect. Ward s interrogation went on for five hours before he was ready to confess Mayer, 1987, p. 56). The questioning was also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Inferential Reasoning In Sherlock Holmes ABSTRACT Inferential reasoning is a central component of statistics. It is suggested that we should develop an informal understanding of the ideas that underlie inference before learning the concepts formally. This report is designed to help people to learn the concept of Abduction and Deduction in the context of the one and only consulting detective of all times Sherlock Holmes. Criminal investigations, and trials, depend upon inferential reasoning. Theories, hypotheses and conclusions, are drawn from the evidences which are provided in the case. The victim s blood was on the knife; we supposed it was the murder weapon. The suspect s fingerprints are on the knife; we supposed he killed the victim. Sherlock Holmes, although a fictional character in 21st century, remains renowned as a great detective of all times. However, his methods, which were abduction and deduction, are used by many real detectives, is rarely described, discussed or researched. This report compares and contrasts the two forms of inferential reasoning which are deduction and abduction and the role of it in Sherlock s work, and training of police officers by him. ... • 4. What Does The Ballad Of Flannery Street Mean The Ballad of Calvary Street by James K. Baxter is a poem used effectively in order to develop the key idea of appearance vs.reality. This idea is developed in the poem to reinforce idea of Baxter s underlying dislike for modern suburbanised society. He struggled throughout his life to understand modernized society. Growing up as a Catholic, he eventually came to an epiphany and realised the New Zealandhe knew was filled with hypocritical middle class values that he did not respect. In this poem, we are given an insight into these ideas. This poem is relevant to New Zealanders, as James K. Baxter appeared to evaluate New Zealand society harshly and his judgements were always from the perspective of one intimately involved in the social process. James K. Baxter, who found intolerable depersonalisation, centralisation and decentralisation of urban civilisation could still find reason for hope in the hearts of people . His criticisms of national life and his ultimate decision to step out of the mainstream are admired by many. He incorporates the extensive use of religious... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These types of imagery helped readers to understand the misinterpretation of the Baxter family and how dull the suburban life really is. The first religious symbol is in the title of the poem Ballad of Calvary Street. This is ironic because Calvary Street is the street which Jesus walked to his place of crucifixion, therefore having this street name as the title of the poem suggests that the street is not a nice place to live. Another religious image James K. Baxter created throughout the poem was hammer nails which is symbolism for Jesus being hung of the cross and white trellises is imagery created to represent the cross Jesus was hung on. Throughout the poem there is also a lot of repetition, which emphasises the idea of the dull life that the family lives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Food Loss And Its Effects On Food Production Introduction In an age of plenty, there continues to be considerable and intolerable inefficiencies that generate extreme consequences in this world. Food loss is a pure example of this. Food loss represents the edible amount of food that is available for human consumption but is not consumed for any reason, which is discarded towards the front of the food supply chain, including harvest, post harvest, and processing (Lipinski 2013). The production of the food in the United States is inefficient because of its inability to create and process food without generating excessive amounts of waste. In the United States alone, about 40 percent of its food is wasted daily much of it due to ineffectual food production processes. In and of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of these foods, fresh produce naturally has the greatest production losses due to its perishable nature (Gunders 7). Farmers grow their crops in accordance with demand, although it is exceedingly difficult to gauge that specific match. It is important, however, to separate the category of farming into two distinct measures, as they differ in how food loss is analyzed: unharvested food and lost food between production and consumption. Farmers, whether it is through a small family owned farm or a highly industrialized factory farm, are required to provide very dependable volumes that not only meet the quantity expectations of buyers, but the quality specifications that become extremely inspected. To provide insurance for themselves at the risk of losing crops due to unforeseen circumstances, like bad weather, pests, blemishes, or other imperfections, farmers will naturally grow more than they are expected to sell, as they have little to no choice in worrying about customers (NRDC 2012). This predication is based on the prerogatives that each of these farmers choose to go through they would much rather see their produce go to waste than the potential of losing profit, which leads to great food loss. This is a classic example of production exceeding demand. The economic realities for farmers are too significant to ignore. Market prices also hold significant reign on whether or not farmers ... The Capitol Building pulls this same strategy off perfectly! Surely, the architects of the building known as William Thorton, Benjamin Henry Latrobe, and Charles Bulfinch (SOURCE), must have drew upon my plan of St. Peter s for inspiration. I am not sure if they knew this or not, but I also used classical columns on another masterpiece of mine that is known as the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). Unlike at St. Peter s, at the Tempietto I used the Doric order of columns (SOURCE). I find both orders to be great outlets of my artistic abilities, and both pleasing to the eye. Besides the columns, another feature of the Capitol Building that I have marvelous is the beautiful, gigantic, dome in the center. I used a dome structure on both of my famous works that I mentioned before, namely my plan for St. Peters, and the Tempietto at San Pietro in Montorio (SOURCE). Influence of the Western War on Current US Action How western war influence current US action Afghanistan Iraq Introduction Cambridge Illustrated History of Warfare: The Triumph of the West published in 1995, edited by Geoffrey Parker has explained a number of factors that have played a part in the dominance of the western way of war. The western way included in here is more about the dominance of the western culture or the European culture in wars as compared to the other factors that may include technology or finance. Five main foundations according to Parker can define the western way of war. These factors include being superior in military and war based technology, superior military training and discipline, increased reliance on military theory, an increased competition between European states that lead to increased military innovation and lastly, military innovation by adoption of new and better technology (Parker, 2005, p. 67). The five foundations of western war have helped US in gaining victory over countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. The main aim of the paper will be to highlight how these five main factors play important roles in the dominance of a country over another during a war. How the countries like Iraq and Afghanistan are failing against the more powerful US army based on Parker s five foundations of a western war will be considered in the paper. Perhaps inspired by the snub, Carrey threw himself into his next role with abandon. Specifically for younger individuals, bereavement is a very complex encounter because developmental factors must be considered. The loss of an individual in a child s life is heavily influenced by the time in which it occurs because coping mechanisms may or may not be developed. The contrary idea of music serving as a window encompasses the social, interpersonal, and cultural functions that music naturally serves for young people. (McFerran et al, p. 543 544). Within the world of a teenager, the desire to feel normal is very natural. When going through the bereavement process, these individuals undoubtedly need support, but this must be approached with caution. By providing these individuals with a familiar variable, they may feel more comfortable with sharing what emotions they may be experiencing. Various studies have concluded that the relationship between children, adolescents, and music is very synonymous. Myop s sudden exposure to the harsh reality of racism surrounding her shatters her innocence. The tone of the short story changes abruptly showcasing the main characters shift in how she sees the world. For she is suddenly and violently thrust into a world in which skin color dictates how others in society will treat her. There is a clear switch in tone in The Flowers as Myop is exposed to the world outside her home. The initial tone of the short story is carefree and child like. Though the perspective of the story is third person omniscient initially, it is still evident that we are viewing the story through a child s lens. The young protagonist skips lightly from hen house to pigpen to smokehouse showing that she is happy, excited even, to enjoy the natural setting weaved around her. As Myop explores, it becomes evident that her family s financial situation is less than ideal. Wandering towards the woods, she leaves behind the rusty boards of her family s sharecropper cabin (Walker). Now with little else to weave a setting in the reader s mind one can already picture the scene as well as the time period. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why Indian Insurance sector is attractive to Foreign Direct Investors? Every industry has a unique market structure and it is considered that the relationship between openness to foreign investment and market structure is complex. Caves, R E (1996) states that there are empirical evidences which show the positive relationship between the extent of foreign investment and the degree of market concentration. It could be said that foreign investment is being attracted by industries with high concentration and high profitability. The short run effect of foreign entry is to increase the number of firms and reduce concentration. After the reforms of 1999 FDI was allowed and the bar was set at 26% which did not really attract FDI as most big MNCs look for more decision making power. On the contrary, the FDI limit in the insurance sector is higher not only in other BRIC nations but also in other Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia, in comparison to India s 26%, which was a further disincentive for foreign investors to invest in India. In spite of that, India has an immense and almost untapped potential market for insurers, and is a highly attractive investment destination for foreign investors. Step one includes, learning about the education system. Step two is to, decide if teaching is right for you. Obviously teaching is not the correct job for someone who does not like children. Step three, find a degree program. Step four, choose the correct specialty; in my case art. Step five, gain classroom experience. Step six, qualify for certification. Then, step seven, get hired. Which results in step eight and nine, professional expectations, benefits and teaching contracts. Finally step ten, the first year of teaching. The education system is broken up into public and private education, there is a large difference between them. When attempting to become a teacher at a private school, it may not be required to have certification for their state or a teaching degree. Private schools are independent of the local, federal and state government and establish their own individual education system. Ages ranging from kindergarteners to high school adults can attend these schools when accepted and charged a tuition. On the other hand, public schools are offered by the government and the curriculum taught follows national and state standards; which is checked on and insured by standardized testing. Environmental education is a complex and dynamic field, and so, a difficult one to assess. My primary motivation for the research resides in the importance of sustainability as a vital practice for the future. The best way to do this is through the spreading of knowledge and improvement of education and learning and find what can be done to enhance it. I find that it is necessary to understand the history and implementation of environmental education. The use of the term environmental education itself is not considered relevant, especially due to the fact that there is little agreement on it. The Definition Of Effective Leadership Definition of effective leadership Most historians rank George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt as America s finest leaders. Agreement on their quality is so strong, in fact, that in the 1920s, their likenesses were immortalized on Mount Rushmore, which has since become an iconic symbol of great leadership. On the other end of the spectrum, Warren G. Harding, Pierce, James Buchanan, and George W. Bush are ranked as among our worst leaders. Herbert Hoover, John Tyler, and Millard Fillmore sank to the bottom as well. The unanimity among these rankings suggests that the qualities that make an effective leader do not change with place and time, with the governed body or with the situation. America s sixth president, John Quincy Adams, defined leadership this way: If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. I agree that effective leadership is distinguished by four critical qualities: passion, vision, emotional intelligence, and confidence. Leaders who possess these qualities are able to make a positive impact on their institution as Adams did, improving American life through his strong hand on the wheel of the ship.
