Obituary Assignment
When the class was told that we would have an obituary assignment, I thought it would be really
interesting to do because when do you ever think to write your own obituary? I understand that
writing the obituary would make it more surreal, that one day our life will come to an end. I
remember you telling the class to try to put a picture of ourselves on our obituary to make us
believe it really happened, so that s what I did. I can say that after this assignment, it did make me
think more about how I live my life and what things I should change.
When I was writing the obituary, I struggling where I wanted my services to be held at because I
never gave it any thought to where I wanted to be buried. I just thought my family would decide that

Bearded Hercules
Throughout history, many civilizations have risen and fallen carrying along with them their
perspectives and beliefs manifested in works of art. All civilizations have erected monuments to not
only prove they existed, but because they believed they would remain permanently. The Ancient
Greeks were no different, portraying their ideal standards of beauty and proportion into their
sculptures. Their ideal perception of adulation represented the highest form of perfection,
comparable to the infinite impeccability of their gods and goddesses ( ). Evidently, the Ancient
Greeksideals served as a prerequisite that transcended into the ideals of their successors, the Ancient
Romans. The Marble Statue of a Bearded Hercules exemplifies the emergence of unique Roman
standards intertwined with the praised idealism of the Ancient Greeks.
The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks, as Greek art was engrossed by the Romans
resulting in the development of new standards of beauty and proportion, from creating numerous
copies of Greek sculptures. The Marble Statue of a Bearded Hercules, dating back to 68 98 A.D., is
said to be a Roman copy of a Classical Greek ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As illustrated by the Bearded Hercules, the sculpture reaches a height of nearly eight feet and
possesses a wide, thick and robust torso elucidating solidity, strength and ascendancy. Even though
the arms were not restored, the unknown artist amplified Hercules heroic stance by carving out
negative space in between the legs and around the original arms allowing light to strike solely upon
the body, highlighting his chiseled physique, meanwhile projecting an immense shadow
simultaneously. Thus, successfully transmitting a sensation of superiority and dominance as it
demands recognition from the marveled spectators gazing upon its powerful, heroic and influential

Compare And Contrast Strength Theory And Resiliency Theory
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
The study will adopt two theories that are interrelated in explaining adolescent pregnancy. It will
use the strength perspective and resilience theory.
A STRENGTHS PERSPECTIVE
Originator of the theory In 1989, Weick, Rapp, Sullivan, and Kishardt coined the term strengths
perspective to address a system in which practitioners recognize the authority and assets a client
possesses in the client s frame of reference to their life story, (Yakkaldevi, Filho, Patrascu, 2014).
Overview of the theory
The 1980s was the rising of strengths based approach, which is now coming to be one of the
most influential perspectives in the field of both social work theories and practice, drawing on
the humanistic approach emphasizing the potential of the individual. It began at the University
Of Kansas School Of Social Welfare (Rapp, 1998). The shift to a strength based perspective was
concerned originally as a strategy for working with persons with severe and persistent mental
illnesses, (Berg Weger, 2016). According to Davis Mizrahi (2008) a strength perspective is a
paradigm shift away from problem focused approaches. It focuses not on the defectiveness of the
client system in an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adolescents and the environment will always be faced with adversities which could either build
or destroy them. As discussed in the paper, there are risk factors for example poverty,
unemployment which can make adolescent girls lose hope in striving to work hard. They will
find it no use of working hard in school if there are no employment opportunities and this could
make them lose focus and indulge in disruptive behaviors as a way of coping. In the case of
adolescent girls, this makes them vulnerable to

The Psychosocial Effects Of Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in American women and around 12
percent of women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime.1 Patients have the choice of
5 different types of mastectomy: total mastectomy with removal of breast tissue without lymph
node removal, modified radical mastectomy where the entire breastand axillary lymph nodes are
removed, radical mastectomy where entire breast and chest muscles are removed, partial
mastectomy frequently referred to as breast conservative surgery where only cancerous tissue is
removed, or subcutaneous mastectomy where breast tissue is removed with conservation of the
nipple and areola.2 The standard of care in the United States for women who have had mastectomy
secondary to breast cancer is to receive a breast reconstruction.2 On top of a common but
devastating diagnosis of breast cancer with fears of facing months of chemotherapy and radiation,
most women also make the decision to beat the cancer with a mastectomy and reconstruction.
The topic I am choosing for my literature review is the psychosocial effects after breast
reconstruction in women who have chosen mastectomy as an intervention for breast cancer. I have
always been very interested in going into the plastic surgery field when I become a provider and I
believe researching this topic can help plastic surgeons and their staff provide appropriate patient
education or advise that can result in the most favorable post surgical

Montessori Education Essay
Research paper on Montessori Education
{Kierre Davis}
(American Public Universty}
Abstract
This research paper intends to explain and describe factors and features of Montessori education
and Montessori school. It illustrates the practical implementation of Montessori education. It is an
old method of education operating since 100 years. It started from the indigent nursery school in
Rome and afterwards, it continued to expand at a larger scale. Approximations specify that over
5000 schools in the U.S.; 300 communal schools and few high schools apply the Montessori
curriculum. Montessori program is featured by multi age classrooms, and a special curriculum of
instruments (Lillard Else Quest, 2006). One of the famous works known ... Show more content on

Rather than simply watching and listening, as the majority of traditional students do, Montessori
students are encouraged to participate in hands on activities that foster learning through doing. This
may involve field trips, group work, or individualized activities that allow the students to work
independently on their own research. As the students progress through the Montessori system, they
are likely granted an even greater amount of classroom freedom. Traditional schooling, often
dominated by textbooks, lectures and continuous classroom discipline, differs from Montessori
education in those very areas (Martin, 2009). In contemporary age of education, with the initiation
of the No Child Left Behind act and its significance on educational values, financial support for
gifted children frequently scampers parched. Thus it is significant for parents to search different
educational alternatives for talented children, who have a tendency to be independent and
incredible learners, who frequently do effort in classrooms where recurrence and orthodoxy are
strained and individual expression is ignored. Montessori schools were established on the cause that
children have the instinctive ability to learn themselves, and the schools must facilitate children to
lead their individual education. Because of these causes, Montessori schools might be the best
choice for talented children (Martin, 2009). Generally speaking, Montessori students do not

To His Coy Mistress By Marvell
Examine the view that Marvell presents love as entirely physical Although the role of sexual
intercourse within the context of love is heavily emphasized by Marvell in To His Coy Mistress ,
suggesting that the Carpe Diem poem presents love as solely physical is arguably hyperbolic.
Marvell s structural establishment of a perpetual hypothetical implicitly addresses the nature of
romantic asexual love and presents it as something fundamentally positive. This is structurally
established in the first verse through Marvell s diction choice of had we and continually utilized
until the twentieth line. A hypothetical context is essentially presented to the love interest
addressed in the dramatic monologue, where Marvell and his lover have enough World and Time
and her sexual coyness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, this is due to Marvell and the addressee lacking the time to pursue these endeavours.
This becomes clear to the reader in verse 21, where Marvell metaphorically alludes to the Olympian
deity Apollo, through the symbolic establishment of time s winged Charriot hurrying near . Within
the context of the poem, this metaphor ultimately introduces a sharp tonal shift between the
hypothetical nature of the poem and the realism of the current situation. The shift in tone is further
enforced by Marvell s employment of the motif of death in line 27, where the grotesque imagery
of worms essentially deflowering his lover in the grave establishes juxtaposing connotations to
Marvell s hypothetical promise to love his mistress until the end of time in verse 10. Furthermore,
it reinforces the critical lack of time Marvell and the addressee have together as the lover will
inevitably die, inherently providing an essential argument to the addressee to indulge in sexual
intercourse with

fear can change their minds. It is a natural fact that whenever a person flashback with tensed past

Navistar Case Study

Navistar was a worldwide leader in the manufacturing medium and heavy trucks for 17 consecutive
years in the North American market. Navistar s premium conventional trucks were produced at the
Chatham assembly plant, which had almost 14 years experience in producing Navistar s premium
line since 1983. Navistar had forecasted increased industry demand for heavy and medium trucks in
1998. Especially, the Chatham assembly plant s customers had strict requirements to the truck s
quality and delivery date. As the assembly supervisor in Chatham, Andy Ramsz encountered the
interior trim quality and delivery problem for the truck. Andy had begun to gather data on the

Environment and Root Cause Analysis Navistar considered quality and on time delivery as a
priority that came before costs; therefore, top management as well as initiatives to improve
processes and on time delivery supported various improvement initiatives to quality programs.
Andy is an assembly supervisor but had very broad job responsibilities. Andy s time was taken up
in areas such as supplier quality evaluations, internal process documentation, process improvement,
and much more. His focus was very widespread and his day was drawn away from scheduled and
unscheduled meetings; this position required long hours and weekend work. In addition to the
quality issues, truck interior trim shortages was another challenge, which resulted in reordering of
trim parts leading to additional material handling, and post assembly installation. These delayed
parts required overtime that increased cost and delayed delivery of the finished truck of the
customer. Issues came from both Navistar and their supplier Trimco. Navistar had design changes
such as different sizes, repositioning of mechanisms and other various designer and material
changes; however, these changes to the truck interiors were not communicated to Trimco before
production runs were completed. As a result, parts were shipped with different specifications than
those needed for proper fit during assembly. Due to the lack of coordination and communication,

Nuclear Atomic Nuclear Reactor Was Brought Online
On December 2nd, 1942, the Chicago Pile 1 nuclear reactor was brought online. It was the
world s first, and the beginning of a movement that would come to shape the world s energy
resources for decades to come. Since that day, nuclear power has peaked at ten percent of the
world s total energy resources in 2011 (International Energy Agency), and has fueled not only
power grids across the globe, but a heated debate about the viability, environmental impact, and
ethical concerns of using nuclear fission and radioactive chemical reactions as a public energy
source. The most widespread arguments against its use all revolve around a trio of disastrous
reactor failures spanning the last three decades: the meltdown on Three Mile Island, the... Show

and coolant pumps later in the evening. With the steam generators no longer receiving water, the
heat and caused the reactor to perform an emergency shutdown. Within eight seconds, control
rods were inserted into the core to halt the nuclear chain reaction. Because steam was no longer
being fed into the turbine, however, heat was no longer being removed from the reactor. When
the water pumps had stopped, three auxiliary pumps activated automatically. Their valves had
been closed for routine maintenance, however, leaving them unable to pump any water. Closing
all three valves at once was a violation of Nuclear Regulatory Commission policy, and one of the
primary causes of the reactor s partial meltdown (Mahaffey 329). When the auxiliary pumps failed
to come online, a relief valve should have opened as a tertiary safety mechanism to release heat

instrumentation made this difficult for operators to discover. As a result of improper training and
complex instrumentation, it took several hours and a new shift of workers before

The Work Of Marina Abramovic
In this essay I will be looking into the work of Marina Abramovic in relation to the Feminist
movement. By looking at her work, I aim to emphasise her influence on this movement. In this
essay, I shall also briefly examine the works of Abramovic, particularly Art is Beautiful, Artist
must be Beautiful (1975) and four of her performances from her Rhythm series (10 (1973), 0
(1974), 2 (1974), and 5 (1974)). I shall describe the history of the Feminist movement and its
influence in order to develop an understanding of Abramovic s influence.
Marina Abramovic, was born on 30th November 1946 in Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia),
from an early age she was interested in art and as a teenager she felt the need to define herself and
her own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Abramovic s performances can be read as feminist works, even though she has expressed that she
was not particularly concerning herself with womens issues (Richards, 2010:19). This could be
due to her upbringing in Yugoslavia, where as a Communist country, there is less gender
inequality than that which is experienced by many women in the Western world (Richards,
2010:19). Also, as a woman, Abramovic was given the freedom to perform pieces such as her
Rhythm series, as she was seen as less of a threat than other artists in the 1970 s (Richards,
2010:2). This is problematic in itself, as it shows that as a female artist, Abramovic was not
expected to create much of an impact on the political world, perhaps suggesting that even in a
country where women have more gender equality with men, they are still subjected to the
ideologies that women belong in the private sphere, whereas men are thought to belong in the
public sphere, meaning that they are taken more seriously in political issues and are thought to have
more influence in these.
Abramovic s performances can be contextually analysed in terms of Ecriture Feminine, The Abject
Body and Feminism. Bell Hooks defines feminism as a movement to end sexism and sexist
domination and oppression, a struggle that includes efforts to end gender discrimination and create
equality (Hooks, 2000: 113). Feminism is also a political position (Barry, 2002:22). The term
Ecriture Feminine was coined by

Marketing Plan for Samsung Essay
Introduction
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has proved to the world of business that they are one of the most
advanced technology companies in terms of revenue. With more advancement in the technology
which the present market can handle at this point, Samsung has made the way for the future in
electronics industry. It is the largest mobile phone maker and television manufacturer.
Samsung s New Toy
One of the most popular new toys in the electronics market today, is the unbelievable 3D TV. First
3D TV was launched in 2010 March, and has already had a significant impact on the electronics
market (Wilson, 2010). With release earlier this year, Samsung has dominated the market,

Ability to market the brand name. Samsung has been able to position the market in such a way that
it has marketed the brand name strategically. It has been named the top rising brand by Interbrand
and is the 9th most valuable brand valued nearly $33 billion (Interbrand, 2012).
Weaknesses The Company might be able to market the product nicely or it might have been able to
get a large market share but there are certain weaknesses which the company has. Some of them are
listed below. Patent infringement. Samsung has a loose policy regarding the infringement of
patents. The company s patents were not done through a proper channel, thus ending up infringing
Apple s and other firms patents (Wikipedia, 2012). This outcome damaged Samsung s reputation
and suffered losses. Low profit margin. Samsung Electronics is the largest technology business in
the world in terms of revenue. But its low profit margin was the result of low cost of their product
and a price cut they had to endure (Wikipedia, 2012). Focus on too many products. This point could
be the strength as well as the weakness. Samsung Electronic serves many industries with many
different products in them. They lost their focus because there were competing in too many
products and too many industries, which was their disadvantage over their competitors
(Shaughnessy, 2013).

children to demonstrating why one should stray away from immoral things, these classic stories
are rooted in a rich history. Originally fairy tales were used as warning for adults, hence the
gruesome elements found in the original stories, but they have since evolved into tales that
children of all ages can enjoy. Because of the deep history and ability to be related to, cultural
importance has been put on these narratives. The social significance is implied through the

Hazel Grace Lancaster In The Fault In Our Stars By John Green
From the book, The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, the main character, Hazel Grace
Lancaster, is a person to admire. Foremost, she is a person to admire since she is selfless and
caring. First, Hazel is a person to admire since she is selfless. For example, Hazel parents are

Third, Hazel is a person to admire since she s humorous. Specifically, Hazel talks about her
diagnosis with Stage four thyroid cancer when she was thirteen. (I didn t tell him that the

Now die) (Green 24). This shows Hazel is a person to admire since she is humorous because she
jokes about the irony of her becoming a woman to soon be basically diagnosed with character
and most likely dying instead of being depressed or self pitying. Lastly, Hazel is a person to
admire since she is smart. In particular, when first conversing with Augustus in the car, she
mentions that due to her condition, she had to drop out of from high school, and she can t go
back since she already has taken her GED so now she taking classes from the local community
college. This shows that Hazel is a person to admire since she is smart because although, she has
dropped out of school, she was still able to take the quite tough test, GED, in order to do so, and
seems to be fine taking college level classes at her age of sixteen. Therefore, Hazel is funny and
smart, making her a person to admire. In conclusion, the main character in The Fault in Our Stars

Visual Attention Paper
Vision is the most important sensory compared to other sensory modality therefore there is a
wide range of research carried out on vision. Visual attention is defined as a term that portrays
how individuals are able to change their view while attending to an image that is of a normal
perspective due to the neurones in the cortex (Carasco, 2011). It is often described as a focal
point which is situated with different locations in the region of space (Wright, 1998). Visual
search requires detecting a specific target as quickly as possible. For example, trying to find your

features to combine to form objects, It requires attention to bind the primitive features into

which is therefore time consuming (Gelade et al., 1980). The hypothesis of the present study
predicts that the participants will react quicker to the simple feature condition compared to the
conjunction feature condition when presented with targets in different display sizes. Also, that the

Abuse Of Animal Abuse
Did you know about 10 million animals get abused and neglected every year? Circuses and Zoos
are prime examples of animal abuse and neglect. Animals like tigers, elephants, dolphins, and
whales should be in their natural habitat. These animals shouldn t be in small rusty cages, and
crowded pools. There are also people who illegally fight animals for money; i.e. Dog fighting,
cock fighting, etc. These animals fight for their lives, but the owners don t care about whether or
not they die, they just want money. Animals should not be used for our entertainment. Animals
are not given the choice of going into the entertainment world. People gamble on dog fighting,
cock fighting, etc. Wild cats and elephants in circuses endure abuse and neglect to be taught how
to jump through hoops of fire. SeaWorld neglects their animals once they get sick, and these
animals are given merely any space. Animal fighting is illegal in all 50 states in the U.S. and in
district Of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Yet animal fighting happens almost every day.
Most of the animals that fight are dogs, cocks, or hogs. Dog owners like to train their dogs how
to be aggressive. They chain their dog outside out of reach from other animals and people. The
dogs are given basic veterinary care and nutrition because the owners care about winning, not about
the dogs themselves. Some fighting dogs get steroids to enhance their muscles and increase their

Frankie In Huck Finn
The Growing Maturity of Huck and Frankie When childhood and adolescence meet, people are
forced to make difficult decisions. In the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck
decides to leave his hometown, and he makes a journey with a runaway slaves that helps him
create a moral code for himself. In The Member of the Wedding, Frankie has to make the bridge
between childhood and womanhood, and she learns from the mistakes that she has made. Huck
and Frankie have matured throughout these novels in many ways through their experiences.
Huck has experienced hardship in life, so at the beginning of the novel, he is more mature than
his friend Tom, yet he lacks a decent moral code due to an absence of a role model. Huck lacks a
sense of right and wrong at the start of the book because he does not have anyone to look up to in
his life since his father is an alcoholic who only comes into Huck s life to take his money. Huck
also does not get a moral code from religion. When Miss Watson tells him Moses is dead Huck
doesn t care no more about him (6). He also doesn t understand what a spiritual gift is saying, he
doesn t see an advantage about it (14). Due to an absence of a role model in his life,... Show more

Insanity Research Paper
Insanity is a legal term pertaining to a defendants ability to determine right from wrong. Insanity
was once a medical term used by doctors. It is now defined as being in a state so severe that a
person cannot distinguish fake from reality, or is subject to uncontrollable behavior. Insanity is
something defendants use in court that could determine whether they are guilty or innocent. Insanity
can serve as defense against criminal acts without requiring an intent. Even if a defendant calls for
an insanity plea he still has to be evaluated by a doctor. Doctors no longer use the word insanity or

Spanish Edict Of Expulsion
The history of the Jewish people in Spain is certainly a pivotal time period that changed the future
of the Jews and specifically, the Sephardic Jews. At the time of the issuing and signing of the Edict
of Expulsion on March 31, 1492, Spanish Jews were experiencing the most persecution that had
been felt in the many centuries of which the Jewshad been in Spain. Spanish Jewry came to a
dramatic end after almost a millennium of Jewish presence in the country. Spanish Jewry s golden
age, however, the Jews experienced almost no persecution, resulting in a new centre of Talmudic
study, before suffering from a relapse of anti Semitism that eventually led to the Inquisition and the

For the Jews, it was almost impossible to maintain any sliver of wealth that they had in Spain,
since Jews were forbidden to leave Spain with gold, silver or any other precious metals. As a
result, only their must prized or important possessions could be taken to their new home, as they
were physically restricted for what they could take. A delegation of influential Jewish people
including the Chief Rabbi of Castile, Abraham Senior and Issac Abarbanel, a financial adviser to
the state appeared before Ferdinand and Isabella as a last ditch effort to save Spanish Jewry and
cancel the Edict of Expulsion. The delegation presented the catholic monarchs with a bag of
gold to support their argument, however, Ferdinand and Isabella remained unchanged in
respects to the Edict. The Jews began searching for their new homes, and most Jews, unwilling
to embark on a long voyage to a different region of the world, sought to immigrate to Portugal,

Character Analysis of The Handmaid s Tale
Moira =====
We first meet Moira breezing into (P65) Offred s room at college. She is the breath of fresh air.
As Offred says, She always made me laugh (P66). One of her roles is to bring humour to the
reader, to lighten the situation and contrast with the horror of the Gileadean regime. An example
of this is when Moira changes the hymn There is a Balm in Gilead to There is a Bomb in Gilead
(P230). Margaret Atwood uses imagery to illustrate the role of Moira s humour in giving hope to
the handmaidens. She describes Moira as a giggle; she was the lava beneath the crust of daily life
for the handmaidens in the Red Centre (P143). I think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Margaret Atwood describes her after her escape as being to the other handmaidens like an
elevator with open sides (P143). In this simile I believe she is showing that Moira is able to take
risks. She doesn t need the security that the others need, she is frightening to them, as she doesn t
have the same fears.
Another example of Moira s character that shows her nonconformist nature, is in that she made a
political decision to become a lesbian. She didn t realise that she was gay, she d decided to
prefer women (P180). I think the role of Moira s sexuality is to contrast the choice she had made
before the regime took over, with the Gileadean laws which prevent women from having any
choice of partner or any decision in the process of finding a partner, as The marriages are of course
arranged (P231).
Moira not only decided to become a lesbian, but also decided to be sterilised many years before
the regime took over. It is her determination to survive which is displayed when she is sent to the
Red Centre to become a handmaiden. Knowing that it is impossible for her to become pregnant
and will be sent to the colonies after attempts at pregnancy with three couples, Moira admits, I d
already had my tubes tied, years ago (P261). I believe that the role of Moira s infertility is to show
the flaws in the Gileadean regime. Many of the records at the

Special Effects Makeup Artists
Many of the aspiring special effects make up artists begin their careers by seeking low paying
jobs as an intern or assistant to train with a more experienced artist. Whether they pursue
training they must still have a keen eye when it comes to the usage of colors. The most
important tool for a special effects make up artist to have is their personality. This is of up most
importance due to the ability to network and maintain positive work relations with other
professionals in this field and it is the difference between success and failure. Special effects
makeup artist help to create a seamless connection between the live actors/actresses and the
fantasy around them. Their job is to not only make an actor/actress look more beautiful, but in
most cases it is used to make them appear scary and beat up looking or even inhuman. Artists in
this position must answer to both the costume designer and special effects department. The main
difference between a makeup artist and a special effects makeup artist is that special effects are
used to bring to life the three dimensional vision of the director and production team. Methods such
as sculpting, painting, and drawing are used to help communicate ideas. Prospective employers

Japan s Impact On Japan
Introduction: The 2011 Japan Earthquake was one of the most destructive earthquakes that the area
had experienced in centuries. Earthquakes regularly impact Japan due to the nearby subduction
zone under the northwestern Pacific Ocean. This is where the Pacific and North American tectonic
plates meet, which ultimately causes frequent seismic activity. The 2011 earthquakeis the 5th largest
recorded since 1900 worldwide, and is classified as a 9.0 reverse fault mega thrust earthquake
(Mantanle 823). What furthered the destructive ability of the earthquake was the upthrust and
subsidence, which generated a series of massive tsunamis that struck the coast of Honshu. These
tsunamis ravaged low lying coastal areas, which led to unmanageable flooding and the meltdown of
the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear PowerPlant. Japan relies heavily on nuclear power; therefore this
became detrimental to local residents and industries relying on this power source. Japan has
proved itself somewhat capable to combat biophysical vulnerability with resilience. Japan has
employed numerous structural and non structural measures to minimize losses for future hazards.
Furthermore, Japan is considered to be one of the world s most successful democracies, and has
one of the largest economies. The preparedness of Japan is what reduces vulnerability and
probability of risk for future hazardous events, specifically earthquakes (Cutter 530). On a local
level, the 2011 Japan earthquake is significant because

Discipline Is Vital To Parenting In Ray Bradbury s The Veldt
Discipline is Vital to Parenting In today s society, parents that do not discipline their children are
perceived as nonchalant, or carefree. Ray Bradbury, an acclaimed writer, disagrees with this
concept. Instead, Bradbury would say that discipline is a vital component of parenting, and
without it, children will commit awful acts. With the use of foreshadowing and allusion in his
short story, The Veldt , Bradbury depicts that a lack of discipline leads to horrendous, potentially
deadly consequences. Bradbury foreshadows the parents fatal deaths to develop the
repercussions they face for not disciplining Wendy and Peter. For instance, after the Hadleys
have dinner, the parents head to the nursery and find George s old wallet with drops of saliva and
blood smears on both sides (Bradbury 8). The disturbing state George and Lydia find the wallet in
hints that something is wrong with the nursery and that the virtual animals can affect real life
objects. Bradbury also adds the following dialogue between the parents: Those screams they sound
familiar. Do they? Yes, awfully (9). The two screams Mr. and Mrs. Hadley heard were strikingly
familiar because they were their own screams, hinting that the children wanted them dead and that
the lions in the nursery were going to kill them. Throughout The Veldt , the parents hardly
discipline their children, or care for them, causing the children to despise them and develop a rotten
character. Had the parents properly ruled

applications. Three architectures of the capacitor array Digital Analog Converter (DAC) used in
SA ADC that are mentioned in this paper are binary weighted DAC, unary weighted DAC and
segmented DAC. In this paper comparator is been designed for all these SA ADC architectures. The
comparator used in SA ADC plays an important role. The main purpose of the comparator is to
compare a signal with a reference signal and produce an output depending on whether the input
signal is greater or smaller than the reference signal. The structure of the comparator does not
depend on the segmentation degree (i.e. the number of unary bits), for all the binary, segmented,
and unary structures, the same circuit configuration with similar power consumption can be
employed.

Example Of Legitimate Power
Legitimate Power is a person s role in the organization and can be thought of as one s formal
authority(Raven, 1992). A person holds legitimate power if other accept his or her authority to tell
them what to do (Rainey, 2014) p.177. According to French and Raven, Legitimate power is the
most complex powerand has three bases: cultural values, acceptance of social structure and
designation. Because of the leaders are appointed officially, legitimate power can also be called as
positional power or official power(Raven, 1992). Peopleused to obey more easily if someone who

It is based on leader s experience, skill, talents in specific subjects and issues. An example of
expert power is: getting legal advice from attorneys or consulting with therapist over medical
care route. Expert power is not always related to people s education, positions or titles. Most of
the time, experience is more important for expert power than knowledge, academic education or
titles. Sometime it can base on less knowledge, such as people let less educated native villager to
lead directions they want to go in the area he is expert (French et al., 1959). It means, everyone
who has expert power or skills in his or her field, is able to convince his or her followers to trust

needed for achievements. For people, it is the most preferable one among other powers, as it can
provide assistances for getting promotion, gaining respect and self confidence, being admirable
person among co workers and trusted, and so on. But it can also be dangerous when people, who

The Reign Of The Imperial System
Puyi was born in 1906 and crowned emperor in 1908. During that time, China had always been
under the imperial system, where one dynasty was ruled by one family, essentially through the idea
of heredity monarchy. Puyi, who had been proclaimed the son of heaven, followed tradition;
however, his time in being emperor was short lived as the Qing dynastyended in 1912, introducing
the Republic of China. Oblivious to life outside the temple doors, Puyicontinuously assured
himself that he was still in charge; it wasn t until in 1924, when Puyi was captured by warlords
and forced to leave the Forbidden City. In 1931, Japan invaded northeast China, and the officers
surrendered to Japan. The Japanese asked for assistance in establishing the Manchukuo, which was
granted. In 1934, Puyi was crowned to be a puppet emperor of Manchukuo under the control of
Japan; nevertheless, in 1945, Russia defeated Japan in northeast China. Puyi abdicated his thrown,
was captured by the Russian army, and arrested for betrayal.
Puyi is important because he was the last emperor that marked the complete end to China s long
timeline of dynasties. Through his experience, he had witnessed and held gargantuan amount of
power over so many people, just for that power to be stripped from him. Though Puyi didn t like
it, he basically was integrated into a modernized society, where even he could be punished under
the law. Ultimately, Puyi plays a role in modern Chinese society, as it is a learning

Employee Empowerment
Employee Empowerment Exploring employee empowerment is a management decision based on
proven capability and demonstrated trust by the employee. Transformed organizations introduce
empowerment over rules and regulations through smart governance and guidelines supporting
organizational culture. These practices promote improved customer service through employee
decision making extended by managementauthority and flexibility. Demonstrating customer
focused programs and practices through skilled and knowledgeable employees with authority and

The candidates committed to the organization coupled with the willingness to work beyond the
scope of work makes them ideal candidates for empowerment. Empowered employees work in
concert with the organizational mission as management recognizes their ability and gains further
trust in employee s capability for sound decision making and respect for boundaries. Empowered
employees are problem solvers and are keen on the organization s goals as objectives. A manager
will choose an empowered employee because he or she takes initiative on projects and is capable of
providing innovative ideas that can enhance productivity and product improvements. According to
Anderson (2011), empowered employees tend to take more responsibility in their work knowing
that what they produce effects the success and profitability of the organization. Managers identify
empowered employees as assets to the organization and instrumental in achieving successful
outcomes. Managers empower employees who they trust to follow specific instructions and
effectively communicate organizational protocols. The empowered employee is an intrinsically

In the reading, Friends, Good Friends and Such Good Friends, Judith Viorst illustrated that
friends are ranked based on their usefulness, closeness and truthfulness. I agree with the writer as
the usefulness of friends can determine their level of significance in one s life. Firstly, a friend
who has the capability to provide the help required for another would be perceived as more
noteworthy. For instance, imagine if Bill Gates offered to be your pal and forked out ten million
dollars to clear your colossal debts, would he not be immediately shot up to the top of your

President Obama promised to all Americans that they would finally have an opportunity to obtain
or purchase health insurance in the United States for the first time and for those that already had
insurance he promised to them that they would be able to keep the insurance they already had
and it would not increase because of Obama Care. After the passing of Obama Care the only truth
was that Americans could purchase health care but other than that the rest were lies. People that
already had insurance plans some of their plans went up and some plans even got dropped because
of Obama Care. Many Americans now ask themselves why do they have to suffer and pay more for

( Maria ) Obama Care is still a step in the right direction, though because it now allows anyone to
obtain health coverage that wants it. Lastly, another downside to Obama Care is that the people
that did not have health coverage before are now forced to get it or will get fined on their taxes
at the end of the year. Many Americans do not even have the money to buy it so how will they
pay the fine? It is highly unlikely the U.S government will never see that money any time soon.
The republican party to this day are still trying to repeal certain parts of Obama Care because it
does not work. The legislatures of the United States should take a hard look at how Canada
operates with their health care laws. In Canada their legislators passed a better law allowing all
citizens to have the same health care. Sure there are longer lines, but at the end of the day
everyone is on the same team. The U.S on the other hand has not played as a team but still as an
individual. Why make others pay higher prices for doing the right thing all their life? The U.S
legislators should pass a law like Canada and make everyone pay equally or do not pass anything
because it s not fair game. Health care is valued by many citizens in the United States and in
Canada. Both countries have their own health care systems to provide coverage for citizens.
Canada has basic health care coverage for all citizens through federal legislation, but not all
services are covered. Additional health

It`s true that strict rules and tight regulations are necessary they protect consumers, customer

It always increases the cost of operations. Also turnaround time for repairs was highly critical and
cost for flight delay was extremely huge. Customers might be upset or even shift to other airlines
if delays caused them lose the connecting flights. Thus, the cost of aircraft delays was crucial
element in engineering. Bargaining power of supplier, difficulty to forecast demand and harsh

It is known that when there is no consideration of property type, on the other hand, there is no
selection of valuation method. Because, selection of valuation method and identification of
property type mostly go together. Description of the property which is the subject of a valuation
report is one of the scientific procedures of valuation (http://www.iacenig.org/CEthics.html). This is
realized from the fact that for the selection of valuation method, the available data and the type of
property (commercial or residential) plays important role.
IA CE (2008) says that, The procedure and method for deciding a given value in question is a
matter for the valuer himself to determine. Nevertheless, better valuation practice needs that the
method selected be right for the purpose, hold consideration of all the factors that have a bearing

Monopolies Essay
A monopoly is a firm that has no rivals in the market. It can decide on the prices and quantity it
wants. It set the prices that suit it. It aims at making profit at the expenses of consumers and at the
expenses of other firms. Therefore monopolies are owned by wealthy people who are willing to do
everything they can to keep their power. Some monopolies don t mind using their networks and

sometimes, in some countries synonym with corruption. Monopolies are willing to invest their

monopolies create strategies to stop them by lowering their prices so that the new firms don t make

Microsoft is a monopoly and for years it had a strategy to keep development very slow and even
stagnant. (Spaudling, 1982 2015). Keeping development at bay can has its toll on the economic
development.
Another effect of a monopoly on economic development is the low quality of output. Since a
monopoly controls the market, and since its products have no substitutes, it can put anything in the
market for the price it wants.
A monopoly can use asymmetric information by not supplying the costumer with enough

DEET Research Paper
To begin with, I believe DEET is one of the most affective ways to repel mosquitos. Some do not
agree, as they believe DEET is a harmful chemical. I will explain why I think that DEET is one
of the best mosquito repellents. DEET is shorthand for the chemical name N,N diethyl meta
toluamide and is the active ingredient in most insect repellents. It has been used for over 60 years,
by over 50 million people. Dr. Mustapha Debboun, who is director of the mosquito control division
of Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services in Houston, says ВЁDEET is the
standardВЁ. Meaning that DEET is the highest quality there is for bug spray. Dr. Dan Strickman,
who is with the Global Health Program at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation... Show more

When applied to certain materials, DEET can be damaging, which is concerning as it is
approved for use on human skin. DEET can damage rubber, plastic, vinyl, lenses and synthetic
fibers. The people who are against it claim that if DEET is that damaging to other things, think
about what it might be doing to us. According to the writer Francie Diep from Popular Science,
ВЁIn all of scientific literature since 1957, when DEET first appeared on store shelves
researchers have reported 14 cases of kids who suffered encephalopathy, including seizures, after
using DEET on their skin. All but one were kids under age 8. Three children died. The others
recovered fully. In each of the cases, it was difficult to determine whether DEET caused the brain
symptoms. The kids could have been exposed to other things, but it could have been the DEET,
too.ВЁ However, I still stand by my opinion that DEET is the best. There have been studies that
show proof that DEET has no adverse affects. Many doctors agree that itВґs one of the best ways to
repel the nasty blood suckers. Consequently if people somehow start dying or getting cancer or
mutating into weird stuff from using DEET, I will stop using it and use an alternative. However,
since it has not been proven to have those side effects, I will forever use bug spray that contains
DEET because the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, which are not even proven

Benjamin Franklin, the Father of Foreign Diplomacy Essay
Some people will argue that the true birth of United States of America started with George
Washington leading the Continental Army against Great Britain s royal army in pursuit of freedom
from foreign dictatorship; seizing the opportunity to create and control their own government in the
manner in which they sought fit. One of the major forces in this battle for freedom was the
diplomatic travels of Benjamin Franklin. His travels to England and France set the foundation for
the dealings in foreign diplomacy that are still in effect today. Without Benjamin Franklin s
wisdom, knowledge and courage to address Kings and Parliament on the behalf of the colonies, the
American government, as we know it would not exist.
Benjamin was born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon his return to the colonies he was elected as the unofficial ambassador to England, and this
became a duty that he carried out for many years to come.
Over the next decade, hostilities grew between the colonies and England. Benjamin Franklin spent
his time as a delegate between the two lands and argued many of the colonies grievances toward
Britain s mistreatment. In 1765 at the age of 59, Franklin addressed Parliament regarding the
Quartering Bill, which allowed forceful housing of British soldiers in the homes of the Americans.
He argued on behalf of the colonies and Parliament amended the bill making the act illegal. During
this same year, Parliament passed the Stamp Act as a way of acquiring more money from the
colonies. This is where many of Benjamin Franklin s diplomatic duties began.
Franklin was called to testify in front of Parliment,
A questioner asked: Considering the resolutions of Parliament as to the right, do you think, if the
stamp act is repealed, that the North Americans will be satisfied?
Franklin responded: I think the resolutions of right will gibe them very little concern, if they are
never attempted to be carried into practice.
A adversary asked: If the stamp act should be repealed, would it induce the assemblies of America
to acknowledge the rights of Parliament to tax them, and would they erase their resolutions [of

Perceptual Mapping Of A Product Or Brand
Perceptual mapping is a graphical technique that helps marketers to get a visual display regarding
perception of customers or potential customers. The position of a product or brand is displayed
comparative to their competition. Perceptual maps are often used to help the organization to
classify a positioning strategy. Perceptual mapping graph is useful to find out strength and
weakness compare to other company product. Also, it helps to recognize the competitive advantage
for the product. Moreover, it finds the market opportunity. It shows the empty space where brand or
product has opportunities to improve their product quality and retain or gain competitive advantage.

Below I am going to do perceptual mapping for auto industry including rating one to five: In that
mapping I shown that my four quadrant are populated with different brand like as Mercedes,
Audi, Jaguar, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Porches, BMW and Mazda. Also, there have four attributes
in that mapping .Those are Expensive VS Cheap and Sporty VS Conservative. In vertical axis I
have shown Sporty VS Conservative and horizontal axis I shown Expensive VS Cheap.
Moreover I rate this in five point rating scale (1 5) and attach a excel file with that for a clear
view of my mapping. In that mapping Jaguar is my selected brand and main competitors are
Mercedes and Audi. So, after reviewing that map it can be say that for this three specific brand
there has same target customer. However, among those three brands Jaguar holds a moderate
position that means they have sporty cars but not like the competitor. So, to get a better position
jaguar has to reposition this brand. For that Jaguar have to identify competitor advantages that it do
not have right now. In that mapping the market leader is Audi .That means they have different
variety of sports cars and those cars are more expensive. Mercedes holds second position in that
market that means they have more sports cars rather than Jaguar but not as many as Audi.
However, there cars are not much expensive. After analyzing this perceptual map I identify two
things that

Rattlesnake Venom Analysis
In the book Holes written by Louis Sachar there is a camp known as Camp Green Lake. It s
inhabitants are mean counselors, bad children, and a wide assortment of reptiles and other lethal
creatures. Many of the counselors share traits with these reptiles like the deadly yellow spotted
lizards and the horrifying rattlesnake. The reptile the Warden s relates to is the rattlesnake because
of how they both use rattlesnake venom as a weapon, if unprovoked they will say passive but if
annoyed they will become hostile, and how they both have a sign of if their being threatened.
Secondly both the Warden and the rattlesnake use venom specifically rattlesnake venom. The
rattlesnake naturally uses venom if you threaten it. The Warden uses nail polish as

Paddock s Art Analysis
Paddock is known for many different art media fields such as sculptor, graphic design, and
furniture designer. I was inspired, however, by his paintings and knew of him through those as
well. I chose to recreate one of Ewing Paddock s paintings from the London Underground series.
I was inspired by his works because each of them are unique and diverse. Paddock s paintings also
interested me because they were all recently painted. He started the London Underground series in
2009 and it took him three years to complete 25 canvases, paintingaround 70 people. In each of his
paintings you can see the emotion that the person is giving off which is one reason I enjoy them.
All 25 of the canvas are super interesting to look and see the different characters

Aquaculture Is The Cultivation Of Sea Creatures ( Finfish...
Background What is Aquaculture? Aquaculture is the wide term used to describe the cultivation
of sea creatures. An example of aquaculture is fish farming. In Canada, the activities of
aquaculture are practised in all provinces. However, if we look at the species each province
produces (Figure 1 1), operations of coastal provinces have more variety on what they produce. It
is easy to see why operations are more focused on the top producers in Canada: British Columbia,
New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador (Figure 1 2). What type of economic activity
does aquacultureprovide? Essentially, aquaculture is considered as a primary industry in the
economic sector. This means that aquaculture s main service is the production of goods, in this
case, aquatic life. Aquaculture is unique as it does not harvest wild marine animals, compared to
commercialized fishing. Instead, aquaculture focuses on farming the species of aquatic creatures
(Finfish and shellfish). This economic activity provides a product of resource that is cultivated
without damaging the population of aquatic life found naturally in the wild and provides a different
alternative when it comes to the production of the renewable resources of fishin Canada. In
Canadian aquaculture, there are a variety of methods involving the farming of aquatic life because
of location. The oldest method is with the net pen system (Figure 1 3). This type of aquaculture
involves containing fish in a net that suspends around

After finishing reading Bible, I am aware of the importance of diligence and the negative effect of
being lazy. As a Christian, I strongly recommend that people should follow what the Bible has told
us and listen to our God s commands. Because the knowledge that Bible gives us will have a good
and profound influence on our lives and help us out in many situations. During the process of
reading Bible, we may gain much wisdom that will be helpful in our daily life. Also, God will see
us that we are diligent in following his words and he will bless us in the future life. However, if we
choose laziness when we are walking with God, he could penalize us because of the ... Show more

Work hard and become a leader; Bing lazy and never succeed. (Proverbs 12:24) Not trying or
giving yourself into laziness will never result in happiness or a joyful life. Even worse, it will
only bring you guilt and shame. Therefore, in our walk with God, being diligent is a motto
which we should remind ourselves everyday because it is what God wants us to do. Only then
will we have a chance to gain much more knowledge of wisdom from God and live in a happy and
meaningful lifestyle. That is what the Hebrew teachings of wisdom have told us!
There are numerous errors in spelling and grammar I did not mark all of them and the most
common is the writing in first person. This should be avoided in academic settings. It would be
helpful for you to seek the assistance of the Online Writing Center to continue to improve your
grammar skills.

  • 3. Bearded Hercules Throughout history, many civilizations have risen and fallen carrying along with them their perspectives and beliefs manifested in works of art. All civilizations have erected monuments to not only prove they existed, but because they believed they would remain permanently. The Ancient Greeks were no different, portraying their ideal standards of beauty and proportion into their sculptures. Their ideal perception of adulation represented the highest form of perfection, comparable to the infinite impeccability of their gods and goddesses ( ). Evidently, the Ancient Greeksideals served as a prerequisite that transcended into the ideals of their successors, the Ancient Romans. The Marble Statue of a Bearded Hercules exemplifies the emergence of unique Roman standards intertwined with the praised idealism of the Ancient Greeks. The Romans were heavily influenced by the Greeks, as Greek art was engrossed by the Romans resulting in the development of new standards of beauty and proportion, from creating numerous copies of Greek sculptures. • 4. Compare And Contrast Strength Theory And Resiliency Theory THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK The study will adopt two theories that are interrelated in explaining adolescent pregnancy. It will use the strength perspective and resilience theory. A STRENGTHS PERSPECTIVE Originator of the theory In 1989, Weick, Rapp, Sullivan, and Kishardt coined the term strengths perspective to address a system in which practitioners recognize the authority and assets a client possesses in the client s frame of reference to their life story, (Yakkaldevi, Filho, Patrascu, 2014). Overview of the theory The 1980s was the rising of strengths based approach, which is now coming to be one of the most influential perspectives in the field of both social work theories and practice, drawing on the humanistic approach emphasizing the potential of the individual. It began at the University Of Kansas School Of Social Welfare (Rapp, 1998). The shift to a strength based perspective was concerned originally as a strategy for working with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses, (Berg Weger, 2016). According to Davis Mizrahi (2008) a strength perspective is a paradigm shift away from problem focused approaches. It focuses not on the defectiveness of the client system in an ... The Psychosocial Effects Of Breast Cancer Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in American women and around 12 percent of women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime.1 Patients have the choice of 5 different types of mastectomy: total mastectomy with removal of breast tissue without lymph node removal, modified radical mastectomy where the entire breastand axillary lymph nodes are removed, radical mastectomy where entire breast and chest muscles are removed, partial mastectomy frequently referred to as breast conservative surgery where only cancerous tissue is removed, or subcutaneous mastectomy where breast tissue is removed with conservation of the nipple and areola.2 The standard of care in the United States for women who have had mastectomy secondary to breast cancer is to receive a breast reconstruction.2 On top of a common but devastating diagnosis of breast cancer with fears of facing months of chemotherapy and radiation, most women also make the decision to beat the cancer with a mastectomy and reconstruction. The topic I am choosing for my literature review is the psychosocial effects after breast reconstruction in women who have chosen mastectomy as an intervention for breast cancer. I have always been very interested in going into the plastic surgery field when I become a provider and I believe researching this topic can help plastic surgeons and their staff provide appropriate patient education or advise that can result in the most favorable post surgical ... • 6. Montessori Education Essay Research paper on Montessori Education {Kierre Davis} (American Public Universty} Abstract This research paper intends to explain and describe factors and features of Montessori education and Montessori school. It illustrates the practical implementation of Montessori education. It is an old method of education operating since 100 years. It started from the indigent nursery school in Rome and afterwards, it continued to expand at a larger scale. Approximations specify that over 5000 schools in the U.S.; 300 communal schools and few high schools apply the Montessori curriculum. Rather than simply watching and listening, as the majority of traditional students do, Montessori students are encouraged to participate in hands on activities that foster learning through doing. This may involve field trips, group work, or individualized activities that allow the students to work independently on their own research. As the students progress through the Montessori system, they are likely granted an even greater amount of classroom freedom. Traditional schooling, often dominated by textbooks, lectures and continuous classroom discipline, differs from Montessori education in those very areas (Martin, 2009). In contemporary age of education, with the initiation of the No Child Left Behind act and its significance on educational values, financial support for gifted children frequently scampers parched. Thus it is significant for parents to search different educational alternatives for talented children, who have a tendency to be independent and incredible learners, who frequently do effort in classrooms where recurrence and orthodoxy are strained and individual expression is ignored. Montessori schools were established on the cause that children have the instinctive ability to learn themselves, and the schools must facilitate children to lead their individual education. Because of these causes, Montessori schools might be the best choice for talented children (Martin, 2009). Generally speaking, Montessori students do not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. To His Coy Mistress By Marvell Examine the view that Marvell presents love as entirely physical Although the role of sexual intercourse within the context of love is heavily emphasized by Marvell in To His Coy Mistress , suggesting that the Carpe Diem poem presents love as solely physical is arguably hyperbolic. Marvell s structural establishment of a perpetual hypothetical implicitly addresses the nature of romantic asexual love and presents it as something fundamentally positive. This is structurally established in the first verse through Marvell s diction choice of had we and continually utilized until the twentieth line. A hypothetical context is essentially presented to the love interest addressed in the dramatic monologue, where Marvell and his lover have enough World and Time and her sexual coyness ... This becomes clear to the reader in verse 21, where Marvell metaphorically alludes to the Olympian deity Apollo, through the symbolic establishment of time s winged Charriot hurrying near . Within the context of the poem, this metaphor ultimately introduces a sharp tonal shift between the hypothetical nature of the poem and the realism of the current situation. The shift in tone is further enforced by Marvell s employment of the motif of death in line 27, where the grotesque imagery of worms essentially deflowering his lover in the grave establishes juxtaposing connotations to Marvell s hypothetical promise to love his mistress until the end of time in verse 10. Furthermore, it reinforces the critical lack of time Marvell and the addressee have together as the lover will inevitably die, inherently providing an essential argument to the addressee to indulge in sexual intercourse with ... Navistar s premium conventional trucks were produced at the Chatham assembly plant, which had almost 14 years experience in producing Navistar s premium line since 1983. Navistar had forecasted increased industry demand for heavy and medium trucks in 1998. Andy is an assembly supervisor but had very broad job responsibilities. Andy s time was taken up in areas such as supplier quality evaluations, internal process documentation, process improvement, and much more. His focus was very widespread and his day was drawn away from scheduled and unscheduled meetings; this position required long hours and weekend work. In addition to the quality issues, truck interior trim shortages was another challenge, which resulted in reordering of trim parts leading to additional material handling, and post assembly installation. These delayed parts required overtime that increased cost and delayed delivery of the finished truck of the customer. Issues came from both Navistar and their supplier Trimco. Navistar had design changes such as different sizes, repositioning of mechanisms and other various designer and material changes; however, these changes to the truck interiors were not communicated to Trimco before production runs were completed. As a result, parts were shipped with different specifications than those needed for proper fit during assembly. Due to the lack of coordination and communication, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Work Of Marina Abramovic In this essay I will be looking into the work of Marina Abramovic in relation to the Feminist movement. By looking at her work, I aim to emphasise her influence on this movement. I shall describe the history of the Feminist movement and its influence in order to develop an understanding of Abramovic s influence. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Abramovic s performances can be read as feminist works, even though she has expressed that she was not particularly concerning herself with womens issues (Richards, 2010:19). This could be due to her upbringing in Yugoslavia, where as a Communist country, there is less gender inequality than that which is experienced by many women in the Western world (Richards, 2010:19). Also, as a woman, Abramovic was given the freedom to perform pieces such as her Rhythm series, as she was seen as less of a threat than other artists in the 1970 s (Richards, 2010:2). This is problematic in itself, as it shows that as a female artist, Abramovic was not expected to create much of an impact on the political world, perhaps suggesting that even in a country where women have more gender equality with men, they are still subjected to the ideologies that women belong in the private sphere, whereas men are thought to belong in the public sphere, meaning that they are taken more seriously in political issues and are thought to have more influence in these. Abramovic s performances can be contextually analysed in terms of Ecriture Feminine, The Abject Body and Feminism. Bell Hooks defines feminism as a movement to end sexism and sexist domination and oppression, a struggle that includes efforts to end gender discrimination and create equality (Hooks, 2000: 113). Feminism is also a political position (Barry, 2002:22). The term Ecriture Feminine was coined by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Weaknesses The Company might be able to market the product nicely or it might have been able to get a large market share but there are certain weaknesses which the company has. It is often described as a focal point which is situated with different locations in the region of space (Wright, 1998). Visual search requires detecting a specific target as quickly as possible. The Eighth Amendment and Death Penalty Essay The Eight Amendment to the U.S. Constitution Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishment inflicted , proposed on 9/25/1789 and approved on 12/15/1791. The cruel and unusual punishment confines the harshness of penalties that state and federal governments may inflict upon ones who have been condemned of a criminal offense. The excessive fines phrase restricts the amount that state and federal governments may possibly fine an individual for a specific offense. The excessive bail phrase limits legal judgment in setting bail for the discharge of persons indicted of an illegal action during the time following their capture but prior to their trial. She is the breath of fresh air. As Offred says, She always made me laugh (P66). One of her roles is to bring humour to the reader, to lighten the situation and contrast with the horror of the Gileadean regime. An example of this is when Moira changes the hymn There is a Balm in Gilead to There is a Bomb in Gilead (P230). Another example of Moira s character that shows her nonconformist nature, is in that she made a political decision to become a lesbian. She didn t realise that she was gay, she d decided to prefer women (P180). I think the role of Moira s sexuality is to contrast the choice she had made before the regime took over, with the Gileadean laws which prevent women from having any choice of partner or any decision in the process of finding a partner, as The marriages are of course arranged (P231). Moira not only decided to become a lesbian, but also decided to be sterilised many years before the regime took over. It is her determination to survive which is displayed when she is sent to the Red Centre to become a handmaiden. Knowing that it is impossible for her to become pregnant and will be sent to the colonies after attempts at pregnancy with three couples, Moira admits, I d already had my tubes tied, years ago (P261). • 28. Japan s Impact On Japan Introduction: The 2011 Japan Earthquake was one of the most destructive earthquakes that the area had experienced in centuries. Earthquakes regularly impact Japan due to the nearby subduction zone under the northwestern Pacific Ocean. This is where the Pacific and North American tectonic plates meet, which ultimately causes frequent seismic activity. The 2011 earthquakeis the 5th largest recorded since 1900 worldwide, and is classified as a 9.0 reverse fault mega thrust earthquake (Mantanle 823). What furthered the destructive ability of the earthquake was the upthrust and subsidence, which generated a series of massive tsunamis that struck the coast of Honshu. These tsunamis ravaged low lying coastal areas, which led to unmanageable flooding and the meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear PowerPlant. Japan relies heavily on nuclear power; therefore this became detrimental to local residents and industries relying on this power source. Japan has proved itself somewhat capable to combat biophysical vulnerability with resilience. Japan has employed numerous structural and non structural measures to minimize losses for future hazards. Furthermore, Japan is considered to be one of the world s most successful democracies, and has one of the largest economies. Discipline Is Vital To Parenting In Ray Bradbury s The Veldt Discipline is Vital to Parenting In today s society, parents that do not discipline their children are perceived as nonchalant, or carefree. Ray Bradbury, an acclaimed writer, disagrees with this concept. Instead, Bradbury would say that discipline is a vital component of parenting, and without it, children will commit awful acts. With the use of foreshadowing and allusion in his short story, The Veldt , Bradbury depicts that a lack of discipline leads to horrendous, potentially deadly consequences. Bradbury foreshadows the parents fatal deaths to develop the repercussions they face for not disciplining Wendy and Peter. For instance, after the Hadleys have dinner, the parents head to the nursery and find George s old wallet with drops of saliva and blood smears on both sides (Bradbury 8). The disturbing state George and Lydia find the wallet in hints that something is wrong with the nursery and that the virtual animals can affect real life objects. Bradbury also adds the following dialogue between the parents: Those screams they sound familiar. Do they? Yes, awfully (9). The two screams Mr. and Mrs. Hadley heard were strikingly familiar because they were their own screams, hinting that the children wanted them dead and that the lions in the nursery were going to kill them. Throughout The Veldt , the parents hardly discipline their children, or care for them, causing the children to despise them and develop a rotten character. Had the parents properly ruled ... Design of Comparator for Successive Approximation Analog Digital Converter Manali Matey Department of Electronics Engineering YCCE Nagpur, India manali.matey@gmail.com Swati Nitnaware Department of Electronics Engineering YCCE Nagpur, India swatitidke02@gmail.com Abstract SA ADCs are widely used in low power applications. Three architectures of the capacitor array Digital Analog Converter (DAC) used in SA ADC that are mentioned in this paper are binary weighted DAC, unary weighted DAC and segmented DAC. In this paper comparator is been designed for all these SA ADC architectures. The comparator used in SA ADC plays an important role. The main purpose of the comparator is to compare a signal with a reference signal and produce an output depending on whether the input signal is greater or smaller than the reference signal. The structure of the comparator does not depend on the segmentation degree (i.e. the number of unary bits), for all the binary, segmented, and unary structures, the same circuit configuration with similar power consumption can be employed. Keywords Successive Approximation Analog to Digital Converter(SA ADC); comparators; segmented capacitor based digital to analog converter (DAC); unary capacitor based digital to analog converter (DAC) I.INTRODUCTION Successive approximation analog to digital converter (SA ADC) has become very attractive in low power applications due to their low power consumption. • 41. DEET Research Paper To begin with, I believe DEET is one of the most affective ways to repel mosquitos. Some do not agree, as they believe DEET is a harmful chemical. I will explain why I think that DEET is one of the best mosquito repellents. DEET is shorthand for the chemical name N,N diethyl meta toluamide and is the active ingredient in most insect repellents. It has been used for over 60 years, by over 50 million people. Dr. Mustapha Debboun, who is director of the mosquito control division of Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services in Houston, says ВЁDEET is the standardВЁ. Meaning that DEET is the highest quality there is for bug spray. Dr. Dan Strickman, who is with the Global Health Program at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When applied to certain materials, DEET can be damaging, which is concerning as it is approved for use on human skin. DEET can damage rubber, plastic, vinyl, lenses and synthetic fibers. The people who are against it claim that if DEET is that damaging to other things, think about what it might be doing to us. According to the writer Francie Diep from Popular Science, ВЁIn all of scientific literature since 1957, when DEET first appeared on store shelves researchers have reported 14 cases of kids who suffered encephalopathy, including seizures, after using DEET on their skin. All but one were kids under age 8. Three children died. The others recovered fully. In each of the cases, it was difficult to determine whether DEET caused the brain symptoms. The kids could have been exposed to other things, but it could have been the DEET, too.ВЁ However, I still stand by my opinion that DEET is the best. There have been studies that show proof that DEET has no adverse affects. Many doctors agree that itВґs one of the best ways to repel the nasty blood suckers. Consequently if people somehow start dying or getting cancer or mutating into weird stuff from using DEET, I will stop using it and use an alternative. However, since it has not been proven to have those side effects, I will forever use bug spray that contains DEET because the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, which are not even proven ... • 42. Benjamin Franklin, the Father of Foreign Diplomacy Essay Some people will argue that the true birth of United States of America started with George Washington leading the Continental Army against Great Britain s royal army in pursuit of freedom from foreign dictatorship; seizing the opportunity to create and control their own government in the manner in which they sought fit. One of the major forces in this battle for freedom was the diplomatic travels of Benjamin Franklin. His travels to England and France set the foundation for the dealings in foreign diplomacy that are still in effect today. Without Benjamin Franklin s wisdom, knowledge and courage to address Kings and Parliament on the behalf of the colonies, the American government, as we know it would not exist. Benjamin was born ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon his return to the colonies he was elected as the unofficial ambassador to England, and this became a duty that he carried out for many years to come. Over the next decade, hostilities grew between the colonies and England. Benjamin Franklin spent his time as a delegate between the two lands and argued many of the colonies grievances toward Britain s mistreatment. In 1765 at the age of 59, Franklin addressed Parliament regarding the Quartering Bill, which allowed forceful housing of British soldiers in the homes of the Americans. He argued on behalf of the colonies and Parliament amended the bill making the act illegal. During this same year, Parliament passed the Stamp Act as a way of acquiring more money from the colonies. This is where many of Benjamin Franklin s diplomatic duties began. Franklin was called to testify in front of Parliment, A questioner asked: Considering the resolutions of Parliament as to the right, do you think, if the stamp act is repealed, that the North Americans will be satisfied? Franklin responded: I think the resolutions of right will gibe them very little concern, if they are never attempted to be carried into practice. A adversary asked: If the stamp act should be repealed, would it induce the assemblies of America to acknowledge the rights of Parliament to tax them, and would they erase their resolutions [of ... I was inspired by his works because each of them are unique and diverse. Paddock s paintings also interested me because they were all recently painted. He started the London Underground series in 2009 and it took him three years to complete 25 canvases, paintingaround 70 people. An example of aquaculture is fish farming. In Canada, the activities of aquaculture are practised in all provinces. However, if we look at the species each province produces (Figure 1 1), operations of coastal provinces have more variety on what they produce. It is easy to see why operations are more focused on the top producers in Canada: British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador (Figure 1 2). What type of economic activity does aquacultureprovide? Essentially, aquaculture is considered as a primary industry in the economic sector. This means that aquaculture s main service is the production of goods, in this case, aquatic life. Aquaculture is unique as it does not harvest wild marine animals, compared to commercialized fishing. Instead, aquaculture focuses on farming the species of aquatic creatures (Finfish and shellfish). This economic activity provides a product of resource that is cultivated without damaging the population of aquatic life found naturally in the wild and provides a different alternative when it comes to the production of the renewable resources of fishin Canada.
