Civil Unrest Of The United States
From its conception, the United States of America has been in a very unique position of being able
to develop in any fashion. Under another group of intelligent minds it could have been far different
from the democratic republic that we know it to be today. A key factor in the development of this
government was time. Although there would be some civil unrest in the years following the War of
Independence, the next major outbreak of violence would not occur until the French Revolution.
These circumstances alleviated pressure to establish a strict system of government, and gave the
opportunity for trial and error. In examining the early failures of legislation, understanding what
was wanted, and what concessions were needed, you can start to... Show more content on

For states like Maryland and New York, civic duties and powers were limited to the wealthy elite.
In contrast, states with a broader middle class, like New Jersey and Pennsylvania, favored a larger
voting population with less restrictive requirements to participate, and limited the power given to
elected officials. State constitutions laid the groundwork for the next stage of development, a
federal government. The Articles of Confederation were just as important as the Declaration of
Independence in helping to establish the legitimacy of separating from England and becoming a
new nation, but the document was not without its shortcomings. The biggest concern of the
Continental Congress was ensuring that any system created would be protected from potential
despotism. The weak framework of the Articles could be viewed as their focus on what they didn t
want, instead of focusing on what they really needed. This wasn t a document concerning one
nation, it was a contract between thirteen nations to ally against outside repression. For those with
a strong sense of state pride, the problems apparent throughout the Articles of Confederation could
be ignored. The federal government wasn t weak, they said. It was limited. It was designed to
protect citizens from tyranny, and in that regard it was very successful. As oppression was the
biggest concern, it was repeatedly addressed in each issue. By restricting military to state

The Empire Of The Seljuk Ottoman Empire
One of the small Turkish nomadic tribes in Anatolia during the 13th century was a dynasty named
after the ruler Osman, the Ottomans. This small state emerged in Anatolia during the breakdown of
the empire of the Seljuk Turks. The Ottomans quickly became an undeniable force and ended all
other Turkish dynasties. The Ottoman Empirebecame one of the largest and longest lasting empires
in the world, ruling the majority of the Middle East, northern Africa and southeastern Europe for
over 600 years until its eventual fall in 1922.
The Ottomans were one of the numbers of Turkish tribes that migrated from Central Asia. Initially
they followed a primitive shamanistic religion. Their contacts with various tribes led to the
introduction of Islam and they acquired their greatest combat tradition, that of the ghazi warrior.
The first period of the Ottoman history was characterized by almost continuous territorial
expansion. The Ottoman dominion spread out from a small Anatolian principality to cover a major
amount of land in Middle East and southeastern Europe.
Following the final defeat of the Seljuk Empire in 1293, Osman, the founder of the Ottoman
dynasty, led his principality to take over Byzantine Bithynia in northwestern Anatolia, commanded
the ghazis against the Byzantines. Osman and his successors concentrated their attacks on
Byzantine territories bordering the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara to the west. The Ottomans
took advantage of the decay of the Byzantine frontier

The Tale Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Once upon a time, a poor peasant lived with his seven quarreling sons in a cozy cottage amidst
the enveloping woods. All of the peasant s sons had an extremely cold heart and a selfish mind
except the youngest, Lumio. He was different. A charming boy he was; an outgoing personality
he possessed. And of course, his older brothers, especially Fuscus, grew more and more envious
of him until one day, they succumbed to the envy as they could take it no more. You see, all the
brothers loved an enchanting princess who ruled over their small plot of land. Day after day, and
night after night, they cared only about the princess and none other. They saw their youngest
brother as a vexing, immediate hindrance to their already slim chances of impressing the so
desired princess as they feared that if the princess met Lumio, the couple would forever be knit,
and so, the story continues. Frustrated, the jealous brothers devised a wicked, desperate plot to rid
themselves of their annoying hindrance, their brother. Fuscus, the oldest brother, spoke. Have you
heard of the deep, dank well beyond the wood? Legend has it that the well is cursed to be the lair of
the Golden Devil. What say? And so, the next day, Lumio and his brothers walked to the well in
silence. A repeated, resonating caw from a raven made even Fuscus himself turn cold with fear as if
it was a glaring reminder of the terrible deed he would perform very soon. Closer and closer the
well drew, each step, a mile. Poor Lumio

Obstacles In Ralph Marston s The Daily Motivator
People face obstacles every day: the unbearable coworker, federal income taxes, and tupperware
with no matching lids. Pressing issues such as these already contribute enough stress to life as it
is, but for some, the obstacle is themselves. Whether this be because of guilt, poor self esteem, or
mental illness, it is important to realize the toxicity of this dynamic and prevent it, as it can lead
to serious consequences even more daunting than those of plastic wares. Ralph Marston, the
writer of The Daily Motivator, states that because of the pressures that many people face each
day, it s important to avoid this type of relationship with oneself. Despite how difficult it can be
for some to do so and the failure some meet, Marston s point holds extreme validity and could
prove to be beneficial when implemented in one s lifestyle. Throughout life people... Show more

But when the person themselves becomes an issue it creates a tango between the two, except
medieval torture style and both are wearing heated iron shoes. Because of this it is important to
tackle any issues that originate from oneself, a great example being Eleanor Longden. In her
college years she was diagnosed with Schizophrenia and began hearing voices in her head. This
had troubled her a great deal and even led her to take a break from school; however, she decided
to take what she was given and make something of it, using it as a tool in her studies and
profession. Whether one feels self doubt because mom doesn t accept the neon leopard print
fringe as the real me or genuinely faces issues with self deprecation, many can take something
away from this. In the beginning of Longden s journey with Schizophrenia her life was riddled
with fear and feelings of defeat. How is one supposed to progress if they themselves are
prohibiting it? It is true that not everybody is as fortunate as her, but the day she overcame herself

Grapes Revisited There is a chapter in Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath where the Joad family

in an organized camp. There are designated campsites, fresh water faucets, and wonder of

What Were The Major Causes Of The French Revolution
What were the major causes of the French Revolution, and why did it take the course that it did?
The French Revolution of 1789 is an important milestone in the history of Europe. The revolution,
not only transformed the political, social and economic life of the people but also altered the entire
course of the worlds history. In the 18th century, Francewas a feudal society under the authority of
an out and out monarchy. The Bourbon monarchs lived in brilliance in the royal palace of
Versailles. The finances of France were in terrible conditions. The treasury was essentially empty
after the many wars that France was involved in. King Louis XVI was unable to guide France

Factors Affecting the Decline in Aging Children
The early teen reading slump has been noted by researchers. Researchers have consistently found
that pleasure reading increases throughout childhood and begins to decline, usually at age
twelve to thirteen. Howard, V. (2009). Unfortunately, few researchers have explored the specific
reasons for this decline from the perspective of teens themselves. Even fewer still have explored
the role that reading for pleasure plays in the lives of young teens. Public libraries focus
simultaneously on improving services to teen patrons and to pleasure readers of all ages as key
to strategies to maintain importance and competitive advantage in the age of Google. (p. 298).
One of the most significant barriers in the reading decline is difficulties selecting appealing
reading materials. (p.299). This particular study was collected using focus group questions with
249 completed surveys out of the 900 sent to junior high school students. There were several
factors that effected teen reading and usage of library services. Teens did not view library staff
as a useful source of readers advisory. Teens describe their lives as very busy, leaving little time to
read for pleasure. In this study, many teens note that they have more homework that elementary
school, but also more freedom to socialize. Teens describe their dislike of assigned reading and
their desire to select their own reading materials. This research

ELIZA By Fredrickson Essay
Modern society is a fast paced one that requires a lot of sacrifices to get by. One of those
sacrifices is the time we spend with others to develop connections that lead to developing
empathy for one another. This sacrifice of time leads us to have weaker ties with people around
us. Connections with families, friends, and neighbors became weaker and occur less often,
however, the human desire for love and empathy has not changed. As described by Fredrikson
when she says Just as your supplies of clean air and nutritious food forecast how long you ll walk
on this earth and whether you ll thrive or just get by so does your supply of love (107). People
need to experience what Fredrickson calls positivity resonance in their lives, which is why people

People now prefer to text one another than to call or meet. The reason for this is that technology
allows us to fulfill our desire for communication with one another much faster, easier and with
fewer consequences. This is why, with the further advancement of technology, connections with
inanimate objects that acquired human traits are becoming more popular. This can be seen in
Turkle s essay when she first introduced ELIZA, the program that engages in dialogue. she says
People used the program as a projective screen on which to express themselves. Yes, I thought, they
engaged in a personal conversation with ELIZA, but in a spirit of as if (458). It is easier for people
to have conversations that they are able to control and achieve desired outcomes without dealing
with real human emotions that can be daunting. People can experience the little moments of
positivity resonance through artificial intelligence much easier, faster and at their

Theme Of The Man Who Loved Flowers
The short story The Man Who Loved Flowers by Stephen King, is told by a third person
omniscient narrator. This is illustrated when the narrator describes the characters as the pronouns
he and her and also since the narrator has access to multiple characters thoughts and feelings. For
instance in this quote it is clear to see that he uses the pronouns he and her .
Norma, he whispered, and pulled the short handled hammer out of his pocket where it had been
all along. They re for you, Norma... it was always for you... all for you. She backed away, her face
a round white blur, her mouth an opening black O of terror, and she wasn t Norma, Norma was
dead, she had been dead for ten years...

The man is portrayed as a young man, well dressed in a light grey suit. When he walked down
the streets he was bouncing with a smile on his lips. His tie was pulled down a little and his top
collar button was undone, which give us the expression that he is relaxed. His hair was short
and dark and he had light blue eyes. He is very polite to the people he meet on his way. He is very
talkative with the flower vendor, which makes him appear like he is just a regular young man who
is in love.
He has a split personality that chances like the day. When in sunshine the man is described as a
beautiful man full with goodness and changes to evil when he turn into the darkness. When he turns
into the violent murderer he become aggressive and psycho when he swung the hammer towards
the girl he thought was Norma.
After he killed the innocent girl, he turns back to the normal and relaxed man he was in the
beginning, so he himself is a binary opposition that has two completely different kinds of
personalities.

1940s Clothing Trends
World War II significantly altered fashion in the 1940s. However, fashion was still able to flourish
in numerous ways. The war effort led to rationing due to material restrictions and labor shortages
for manufacturing in multiple countries. Therefore, fabric was limited. Wool was used to make
parachutes, maps, and gunpowder bags. Viscose and rayon would become the dominant material
for civilian clothes during World War II. Rationing led to the development of the Utility scheme
which was introduced by the Board of Trade in 1941 as a response to the shortage of clothing
materials and labor required for the war effort in Great Britain. The utility scheme ensured savings
of labor and materials and minimized manufacturing costs. This impacted men s... Show more

While Europe took some time to reactivate its leisure wear industry, US manufacturers with
experience in sports clothing were quick to produce new lines The Sports jacket became a
staple in men s fashion in the 1940s. World War II altered the suit jacket. Before the war, suit
jackets had wide peaked lapels and double breasted. During the war, sports coats became single
breasted. Lapels became narrower as well. The number of pockets was also restricted. The
design of the sports jacket followed the same suit. Sports coat or leisure coats were different
from the suit jacket. Although similar in cut and length to a suit jacket, sports jackets can be
worn on its own and are considered less formal. Sports jackets were essential in leisurewear.
Leisurewear emphasized comfortability. Then came the changes in the sports jacket. The
shoulders were fuller, sleeves wider, and the armholes larger. The sports jacket gave men the
opportunity to dress differently after work or on the weekends. Just as the lounge suit was
beginning to replace formal suiting worn to the office, the tweed jacket became an acceptable part
of casual dress. After World War II, men wore sports jackets and loose flannel trousers without a
waistcoat or a tie. This change to accommodate leisurewear was influential. Sports jackets were

Anthem For Anthem
Once upon a time, R B lovers far and wide belted an anthem that spoke to them most: I m a

(what?) While most of the late 90 s used this as the soundtrack to independent people
everywhere, I kept it as my anthem this weekend, all the way in 2017 because some things never

My partner was Chris Van Vliet, an entertainment host from Canada now living in Miami, who
luckily had experience fishing among other outdoorsy things. Winning. Chris and I had never
even had a conversation before, but it was pretty clear that by the end of the weekend, we d have
a crap ton of struggle stories to bond over. I m not going to give the entire experience away,
because we re releasing a video on it in late September, but what I can tell you is the following:
After winning best fort from the instructors themselves, eating a fish eye when almost no one
else would, and swallowing my fears to go zip lining over a moving river, it was pretty clear that
G.I. Jo was a survivor. The entire experience got me thinking: what do we even really need to
survive? We talk about the benefits of being a minimalist; how you need to own your shit and
not let your shit own you. But really, when it comes down to life or death, do we even think
about our appearance? The naysayers? The bad grad or review we received from our higher ups?
Absolutely not. The experience not only taught me how to light a fire using a tampon, chapstick,
and a knife, but like most travel stories, it put things into perspective. Sure, it s nice to have
running water, electricity, and WiFi to see what s happening with your social circle. But at thee end
of the day, we only need a few things to survive shelter, water, food, and companionship.

Dbq The Advantages Of Cities
There are many advantages of cities, both modern day, and ancient. Cities help prevent diseases,
they organize people and make them more productive, and they help the economy. In document

when people are close together. People are dying a lot less for a while in cities because of this.
In documents 1, 2, and 3, people say how cities organize, and make people more productive.
When people are closer together, they can innovate, and help each other out, as a pose to suburbs
where people are separated, and generally don t help, each other. This leads directly to cities having

Tombs In Vergina
In 1977 when renowned excavator Manolis Andronikos founded the Vergina tombs the main
debate was, and still is to this day, about whom could the remains in Tomb II be identified as.
Three tombs were discovered at Vergina and the evidence found in these quickly allowed
researches to conclude that those buried at Vergina were from a family of royalty. The evidence
from the grave offerings suggested that they were buried in the later half of the 4th Century and
the age that researches identified the remains as left only two options as to who could be buried
in Tomb II; Philip II King of Macedon or Philip III of Arrhidaeus. There is a copious amount of
evidence towards both sides of this debate and no one is yet to have a definitive argument.
However, when looking at the evidence I am going to argue that Philip II is the most likely
candidate for the burials in Tomb II in Vergina. From the abundance of grave goods uncovered at
Vergina it did not take long for Andronikos... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Andronicus has implied that because the frieze had a bearded man and a younger man with
distinct eyes, and that these were characteristics known to Philip II and Alexander IV that this
was therefore a painting of them and therefore Philip IIs tomb (Reference). It can be argued that
just because a painting has a man with a beard does not necessarily indicate it is Philip II and it
can also be said that the tomb did belong to Philip III and this painting was there as they were part
of his family. When Archaeologists discover ancient sites there are many factors that have to be
considered when identifying its surroundings and objects. Despite an abundance of materials
indicating that Tomb II belonged to Philip II and not Philip III of Arrhidaeus, it still cannot be

The Fall Of The Roman Empire Essay
Many anthropologists and historians have speculated about the different causes and effects of the
fall of the Roman Empire. Some have even stated that Rome did not fall but instead, was merely
transformed. However, there were many causes that did end this prodigious empire. Many
seemingly small decisions made by powerful emperors over the course of just over a century lead
to its destruction. In this paper it will be established that the Roman emperors, in an effort to save
their political power, made adjustments to warfare/treaty practices and made political changes
which over time lead to the inevitable collapse of the realm, this caused a drastic regression in the
living standards of the Roman citizens, implying that the Empire did indeed collapse and not
transform. As Rome increased in supremacy around the expanse of the Mediterranean Sea, various
enemies were made that caused numerous invasions, increasing Rome s vulnerability. The
archeological record shows that the population on the outskirts of the Roman empirewas increasing
and this might have led to a scarcity of resources (Goldsworthy 2009). Due to the increased
population and decrease in resources the barbarians attacked the empire frequently (Goldsworthy
2009). The first of these more devastating attacks were conducted by the Huns in central and
eastern Europe in the years 376 A.D. and 405 A.D. (Heather 2005). Damages from these attacks as
well as from other invaders caused massive amounts of revenue lost to

Gun Control Laws Limit Violent Crime
Founding Father Benjamin Franklin once said that, Those who can give up essential liberty to
obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. The great American republic
was founded on the principle of liberty for all. The Bill of Rights, which is a pillar of US
democracy, clearly stipulates that all citizens have the right to bear arms. It is senseless to sacrifice
this fundamental right for a false illusion of safety. We can reference previous periods of history in
which the government placed restrictions on products and examine how ineffective they were.
Furthermore, we can look at the absence of a correlation between strict gun control measures and
reducing violent crimerates in US states. It is time to ensure that our Constitution is upheld to
protect the ideals of American democracy. The proposal of restricting US citizens from purchasing
firearms is invalid because they are protected to do so under the Constitution, strict government
regulations on other harmful products have not been effective in the past, and the idea that gun
control laws limit violent crimeis a misconception.
As Americans and lovers of liberty, you must exercise your birthright and strike down any proposals
to restrict the right to bear arms. Restricting this right is tarnishing the Constitution, which is the
central element of American government. This is why the importance of upholding the Second
Amendment cannot be emphasized enough. It provides the final line of

Explain Ways To Minimise Estate Tax
Ways to minimise Estate Tax 1) Generation skipping: Generation skipping is exactly as it sounds. In
countries that allow it, many people will often choose to transfer a portion of their estate assets to
their grandchildren rather than transferring the full estate directly to their immediate children. This
strategy skips the second generation, and transfers the assets straight to the third generation, which
saves the assets from being eventually taxed twice. Normally the assets would be taxed once when
transferred from you to your children (second generation) and again when your children transfer it
eventually to your grandchildren (third generation). 2) Valuation Discounts : Valuation discounts

Being An Effective Team
Being an Effective Team Everyone has been a part of team at one point in their life. Teams are
used all the time. They can be used during school to work on a project, in athletics, or on a job site.
What is important to keep in mind when using teams, is there various dynamics that can make a
team both succeed or fail. The more complexities that one understands, the more effective they will
be at building a team. While a leader builds a team, they will also be faced with many challenges.
It is important to keep in mind that the challenges that leaders will face are sometimes out of
their control. This paper will instead address a idea that a leader is in complete control of,
micromanagement. This paper will also include proven ways of addressing these complexities
and challenges by presenting the reader with tips from one of college basketball s most successful
coaches. Building a team is not a simple task, but if done with great care and attention to detail, it
can be a very rewarding one.
Dealing with Multiple Types of People Quite possibly the most challenging phenomena that a
leader must deal with when creating a team of people is the varying differences within the field of
options. With so many different personalities possible, the team builder has to figure out a way of
selecting 4 to 6 people who will compliment each other, while paying close attention to the idea that
one personality could harm the effect of someone with the opposite personality. For

Sexism In The Help
In a sexism stricken society there are drawbacks that affect women every day of their lives.
According to men, about 56% of them think sexism is no longer an issue (Source). Today, sexism
is still a threat to women of all over the world. Kathryn Stockett, the author of The Help, addresses
sexism to make the time period genuine to the reader. The sexismin Stockett s book is brought
forth indirectly. Stockett uses two of her main protagonists as an example on how sexism affects
women and the roles they are supposed to play. Sexism is a practice that is detrimental to women,
entices violence, and creates a social barrier between the sexes.
To begin with, women often find themselves in adverse situations that they have no control over.

Comparing today s society to the society in The Help, jobs were only offered to women who fit
the look of a petite, feminine woman and nowadays people are hired for the amount of experience
they had. Stockett emphasizes the gender barrier many women experience during the time period
she depicts in her book. In the beginning chapters when Miss. Skeeter is looking for a job she
encounters a, squat, single column under HELP WANTED: FEMALE (Stockett 68), in the
daily paper implying there is a limit of jobs that women can work. Most of them happened to be
secretary positions. This is not only hurtful to women who do not fit the conventional stereotype
of a woman, but to women who want to change their world even if it means baby steps. Men are
always offered, at least four columns filled with bank managers, accountants, loan officers, cotton
collate operators. On this page, Percy Gray, LP, is offering Jr. Stenographers fifty more cents an
hour (Stockett 69), additionally adding to the notion that men have more job opportunities and
make more money. The way that sexism plays its role in society make it seem like there is no
way of overcoming this obstacle faced by women. Breaking the large social boundary that women
should play house while the men watch television is happening in real life in today s time. All
thing considered, women today are being more than a simple housewife, they are

How Did England Lose Colonial America
In the early American days, America was mostly controlled by English and French settlers. They
fought for land near the fertile Ohio River Valley, both claiming to own the land. The strive to
fully own this land led to the French and Indian war in 1754. The French fought with the Native

What Is A Random Act Of Kindness
Random Acts Of Kindness That Shouldn t Be Random Many people have a perception that a
deviant act must be something negative that unbalances the norms of society. However that is
not always the case, a deviant act could be one that is positive. According to Merriam Webster
deviant is defined as different from what is considered to be normal or morally correct. So it
comes down to what is considered to be normal behavior, and believe it or not going out of your
own way to help others or being randomly kind to strangers is not considered to be normal. Why
though, why do these acts of kindness towards others have the potential to be reacted to in a
negative fashion? In Ed and Deb Shapiro s article Why Random Acts of Kindness are So Important,

On October 4th I ran in the Rugged Maniac, a 3.6 mile obstacle course through mud, water, and
fire. I decided that during the course of the race I would go out of my way to help others over
obstacles, provide encouraging words, and keep a smile on my face. However going into the
race I already knew how my actions would be perceived. During the race there were multiple
times when I assisted another in pulling them up over an obstacle or boosting them up over an
obstacle, and each and every time everyone was appreciative and usually helping the next person
that came behind them. The difference with this act is the community that it is preformed in. I
ve previously ran the Rugged Maniac at an earlier date and also the Tough Mudder. People who
participate in these events are a special kind of person, they all go out of their way to help each
other and when someone does help another it isn t looked at as odd or deviant, where as if they
were openly helpful out in the rest of the world. These mud runs are like families and they don t
look at how fast someone finishes the course but rather at making sure you do finish. Why do
people have to be covered in filth and running for miles to experience the kind of generosity that
should be present in day to day life? Honestly I don t have an answer other then its just part of the
race, and that feeling

Australia Before Cook Theory
Many people believe that Australia was discovered in 1788 by the British, or was it? There are
multiple theories that not only were the British not the first people to discover Australia, but that
they may have landed in Australia many years prior to Captain Cook s voyages. This essay will
discuss the various theories of countries visiting Australiabefore the British, British arrival before
Cook, and then my opinion of the validity of these theories. When reading this essay it is important
to note that most of these theories cannot be proven 100%, so it is important that nothing written
should be taken as the entire truth as all evidence is only put forward by historians.
While Australia was first settled by the British, that does not mean that no other countries were
here prior, much like America and the Vikings who discovered it before Columbus. One country
that could have possibly beaten Cook by many decades is Admiral ... Show more content on

It is believed by many that by about 50,000 years ago humans had reached Papua New Guinea
and surrounding areas, but had no way to make it across the 90 kilometre stretch of sea. They
were still in the Stone Age by the time they reached the water which separated Australia and Papua
New Guinea, so they didn t have the mental capacity to build a boat which would be capable of
sailing across the water.
Many historians agree that humans arrived in Australia by complete accident. They could have
floated here on pieces of debris after a major flood or tsunami. It is most likely that they landed in
the north, most likely in the Northern Territory. Some historians believe that this could have been
just one pregnant female who began the entire aboriginal race. Some historians even believe that

Spider Man Compare And Contrast Essay
The author of The Birth of Spider Man , Max Bruno, and the author of Stan Lee and Spider Man ,
Simmi Patel, both present their information about Spider Man differently and similarly through
their purposes, points of views, and facts chosen.
First, the two authors both convey their purposes similarly. Both authors write information about
Spider Man s creation. The author Simmi Patel writes about how Stan Lee was able to get his idea
about Spider Man across successfully after many failures. The author Max Bruno also writes about

Seeing the Method of the Blind through Touching and Listening The theme of sight in Raymond

Shias Beliefs About Khums
Khums: refers to the religious obligation of a Muslim to pay one fifth of the spoils of war as tax.
This tax was paid to the Caliph or the head of state that was in charge at the time. Sunnis and Shias

and is paid at the beginning of the financial year. Sunnis who are followers of Salafism

Although our number is very similar to those of Jewish people in this country, we have no
comparison in strength in terms of economic, political and educational strength. We do not have
any Congressmen or Senators. We do not control university boards or faculties. We do not have a
single factory or financial institution, which is able to employ Muslims in large numbers.
Therefore, we cannot judge the future of Islam by looking at the number of Muslims praying on
earth or attending the conventions and bazaars of ISNA. There have to be deeper indicators of our
strength (Athar, 2008).
As stated by Dr. Athar, the future of Islam cannot solely depend on the spiritual actions of the
community. The quality of the Muslim people will determine the future of the religion. Muslims
need to practice peace, justice and equality that made the religion so appealing in the past. These
righteous qualities will make the public aware of the good we represent and hopefully wash away

African American Music In The 1960s
A time of disruption in: society, fashion, mindsets and music epitomised the United States in the
1960s. Before the mid 1960s, music still mirrored the sound, stylistic traits and views of the
prior decade. Many of the popular records were by artists who had found mainstream success in
the 1950s, such as Ray Charles, Elvis Presley and Bill Haley his Comets. From the mid 1960s
onwards, a number of social influences changed what popular music was and introduced us to the
miscellany that even today we experience with music. The assassination of President Kennedy
(1963), the intensification of the Vietnam War (1965 1973) and the advancement of the Civil
Rights Movement (1963) all had a significant impact on the disposition of American culture and
the music began to reflect that. (Holz, 2010) One of the artists that erupted at this pivotal time
was James Brown. Rather than the backbeat that characterised African American music, James
Brown developed his signature groove that accentuated the downbeat. Heavy emphasis was put
on the first beat and in some cases the third beat of every measure to form his characteristic
sound. (Parker and Gross, 1989) This one, three beat propelled the stint in James Brown s
signature music style with I Got You (I Feel Good) (1965) being one of his first songs... Show more

farmers affected. The dust bowlwas located in the Great Plainsregion, which includes the states of

Nurses Usage Of Clinical Decision Support Systems
Little is know regarding nurses usage of Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSSs). Few studies
in this subject focus on nurses adherence and engagement on using this healthcare information
technology to ensure patient safety and delivery of the best care possible (Anderson Willson, 2008).
Clinical decision support systems are defined as electronic systems (computer software
applications) designed to aid directly in clinical decision making, in which patient s characteristics
are used to generate patient specific assessments and recommendations (Bright et al., 2012).
Examples of CDSSs include alerts (allergic reaction warnings), reminders (antibiotic order renewal),

In 2009, the Institute of Medicine listed the implementation of clinical decision support systems,
among other healthcare information technologies, as one of its 100 priority areas of research,
bringing visibility and reinforcing the need of theses systems to improve the health of the country.
A considerable investment ($36 billion) aiming the rapid implementation and adoption of these
information technologies came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of
2009 (Piscotty Kalisch, 2014). The previous listed works and investments, among others, have the
goal to use electronic health records in a meaningful way, promoting exchange of information
among healthcare providers (Piscotty Kalisch, 2014), delivery of the best care possible and patient
safety. Different works found in the literature address research questions regarding the function of
clinical decision support systems, its usage among healthcare providers, the role on improving care
and reducing costs, the impact of design and usability interface, along with adoption of clinical
practice guidelines in theses systems and the adherence of providers to the recommendations
generated by them (Anderson Willson, 2008; Bright et al., 2012; Piscotty Kalisch, 2014). A

How can a woman convert a monster into a man?

How To Write A Forensic Investigation Essay
Abstract Law enforcement agencies have relied on forensic art as one of their investigation
methods for many years. The job of a forensic artist is quite difficult because he or she must
reconstruct an image of an individual based on just hearsay and memory from another individual.
The purpose of this study is to research forensic artists, also known as sketchartists, and their
ability to draw up a suspect through the information provided by a witness. Interviews on two
different forensic artists provide insight of the duties and hardships a law enforcement sketch artist
takes on. The process of how law enforcement sketch artists are able to recreate the faceof another
individual, and how that picture can be a very useful piece of evidence for crime reports will also
be addressed throughout the study. This study is relevant to anthropology because it touches on
how how an individual perceives those around them and forensics itself is also one of the key
topics discussed in biological anthropology.
Statement of the Research Question Sketch artists are capable of reconstructing the faces of suspects
by either the detailed information (or lack of detailed information) given to them by those who
were at the scene of the crime, which is quite a challenging task to do. The overall questions I
want to address and answer are how accurate are the artist s sketches and whether or not TV shows
and or movies accurately depict the everyday life of a forensic artist.

If you were to view millennials or generation y through the eyes of a critic, you would see a
generation that is full of narcissistic people, who are entitled, slothful, detached, and more self

millennials are no more or less self involved than previous generations. Contrarily, they actually

Theme Of Knowledge In Oryx And Crake
Socrates once said, The only good is knowledge, and the only evil is ignorance. While knowledge
can be justifiably good through the use of learning how to help others, it can also be horribly
dangerous. Society nowadays uses knowledge to classify the people who are worthy of greatness
and those who are not. It is in these classifications that the state of human relationships is greatly
tested because of inequality. In Margaret Atwoods novel, Oryx and Crake, two of the main themes
are academic importance and the state of human relationships. In the culture that Atwood creates, if

because he sounds bias to one of the character in the story. For example from the book first clue

respiratory lead instructed her that this mode of transportation was acceptable. The conflict
escalated from that point due to the fact that I had stated in return, obviously you can see that it
was not acceptable and it s your job to be an advocate for this patient, I know that you have access
to portable ventilators because we use them all the time. Matters only deteriorated further when co
workers of mine decided to become flippant with them on their way out as well. Co workers were
saying that I grew into my ICU skin that night and had become a true ICU nurse. The humiliation
that the emergency room nurse was now facing grew exponentially at that point and I felt terrible as
well, not realizing that everyone had heard what had transpired because the unit was so quiet and
the patient status had drawn so much attention.
Interpersonal conflict had occurred originally and then escalated into intergroup conflict in a matter
of moments. The conflict was quickly forgotten by me due to

Michael Jordan Identity Crisis Essay
I never thought I would have something in common with Michael Jordan that is until I was cut
from the high school basketball team. It may not seem significant to most people but to someone
who lived, breathed, and loved the sport for eight years, it was detrimental. Identity crisis does not
even begin to describe what I faced after this defeat. Friends, teachers, and classmates alike
frequently inquired how the team was doing, expecting me to be a part of it. As the days passed,
self confidence plummeted and embarrassment was recurrent. I found myself pondering Why did
something like this have to happen to me? Everyone hits a major turning point at some time or
another and this just happened to be mine. I put all my passion and focus into

Louis Pasteur And Its Effects On Humans
Louis Pasteur made very important contributions to science. He figured out that microorganism
scaled microbes made alcohol and milk go sour. Before his discovery, there was no way to stop
beverages from going bad. Drinking spoiled drinks can have very negative effects on humans.
Louis created a process that destroys the microbes inside of liquids. To do this, you must heat up a
liquid to a high temperature for a short amount of time. He named this revolutionary process
pasteurization. In addition to is amazing achievement, Louis created vaccines for rabies and anthrax.
Louis Pasteur was born on December 27, 1822. He was born in Dole, France. Louis grew up in a
town called Arbois with his father, Jean Joseph Pasteur. Louis father had a... Show more content on

This is where Louis met his wife, Marie Laurent. Louis married Marie on May 29 in the year
1849. Marie and Louis had five children. Sadly, only two of these children survived their childhood.
After managing to cope with the death of two of his children, Louis Pasteur was made a professor
at the University of Lille. It was at this university, that Louis tried to find a solution to the problem
manufacturers of alcohol faced at that time. Louis Pasteur, of course, did not invent Germ Theory.
He did however, further develop the theory, and convinced the majority of Europe that this theory is
true.
After showing how microorganism affected drinks such as alcohol and milk, Louis then created a
process that was capable of destroying these organisms that put humans in danger. He figured out
that this could be accomplished by boiling, and then cooling a liquid. Louis performed this for the
first time on April 20 in 1862. We later named this process pasteurization, after its inventor.
Louis s knowledge of how microorganisms forms helped him later in life. By using what he
knew about microbes, Pasteur saved the silk industry. Pasteur proved to silk manufacturers that
microbes were responsible for the silk shortage. The microbes were attacking silkworm eggs. By
doing this, the silkworms caught a disease. Louis realized that if the microbes were killed, the
disease would cease to exist. And of course, Louis s hypothesis was correct, and by

  • 2. Civil Unrest Of The United States From its conception, the United States of America has been in a very unique position of being able to develop in any fashion. Under another group of intelligent minds it could have been far different from the democratic republic that we know it to be today. A key factor in the development of this government was time. Although there would be some civil unrest in the years following the War of Independence, the next major outbreak of violence would not occur until the French Revolution. These circumstances alleviated pressure to establish a strict system of government, and gave the opportunity for trial and error. In examining the early failures of legislation, understanding what was wanted, and what concessions were needed, you can start to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For states like Maryland and New York, civic duties and powers were limited to the wealthy elite. In contrast, states with a broader middle class, like New Jersey and Pennsylvania, favored a larger voting population with less restrictive requirements to participate, and limited the power given to elected officials. State constitutions laid the groundwork for the next stage of development, a federal government. The Articles of Confederation were just as important as the Declaration of Independence in helping to establish the legitimacy of separating from England and becoming a new nation, but the document was not without its shortcomings. The biggest concern of the Continental Congress was ensuring that any system created would be protected from potential despotism. The weak framework of the Articles could be viewed as their focus on what they didn t want, instead of focusing on what they really needed. This wasn t a document concerning one nation, it was a contract between thirteen nations to ally against outside repression. For those with a strong sense of state pride, the problems apparent throughout the Articles of Confederation could be ignored. The federal government wasn t weak, they said. It was limited. It was designed to protect citizens from tyranny, and in that regard it was very successful. As oppression was the biggest concern, it was repeatedly addressed in each issue. • 3. The Empire Of The Seljuk Ottoman Empire One of the small Turkish nomadic tribes in Anatolia during the 13th century was a dynasty named after the ruler Osman, the Ottomans. This small state emerged in Anatolia during the breakdown of the empire of the Seljuk Turks. The Ottomans quickly became an undeniable force and ended all other Turkish dynasties. The Ottoman Empirebecame one of the largest and longest lasting empires in the world, ruling the majority of the Middle East, northern Africa and southeastern Europe for over 600 years until its eventual fall in 1922. The Ottomans were one of the numbers of Turkish tribes that migrated from Central Asia. Initially they followed a primitive shamanistic religion. Their contacts with various tribes led to the introduction of Islam and they acquired their greatest combat tradition, that of the ghazi warrior. The first period of the Ottoman history was characterized by almost continuous territorial expansion. The Ottoman dominion spread out from a small Anatolian principality to cover a major amount of land in Middle East and southeastern Europe. Following the final defeat of the Seljuk Empire in 1293, Osman, the founder of the Ottoman dynasty, led his principality to take over Byzantine Bithynia in northwestern Anatolia, commanded the ghazis against the Byzantines. Osman and his successors concentrated their attacks on Byzantine territories bordering the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara to the west. The Ottomans took advantage of the decay of the Byzantine frontier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Tale Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald Once upon a time, a poor peasant lived with his seven quarreling sons in a cozy cottage amidst the enveloping woods. All of the peasant s sons had an extremely cold heart and a selfish mind except the youngest, Lumio. He was different. A charming boy he was; an outgoing personality he possessed. And of course, his older brothers, especially Fuscus, grew more and more envious of him until one day, they succumbed to the envy as they could take it no more. You see, all the brothers loved an enchanting princess who ruled over their small plot of land. Day after day, and night after night, they cared only about the princess and none other. They saw their youngest brother as a vexing, immediate hindrance to their already slim chances of impressing the so desired princess as they feared that if the princess met Lumio, the couple would forever be knit, and so, the story continues. Frustrated, the jealous brothers devised a wicked, desperate plot to rid themselves of their annoying hindrance, their brother. Fuscus, the oldest brother, spoke. Have you heard of the deep, dank well beyond the wood? Legend has it that the well is cursed to be the lair of the Golden Devil. What say? And so, the next day, Lumio and his brothers walked to the well in silence. A repeated, resonating caw from a raven made even Fuscus himself turn cold with fear as if it was a glaring reminder of the terrible deed he would perform very soon. Closer and closer the well drew, each step, a mile. Poor Lumio ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. ELIZA By Fredrickson Essay Modern society is a fast paced one that requires a lot of sacrifices to get by. One of those sacrifices is the time we spend with others to develop connections that lead to developing empathy for one another. This sacrifice of time leads us to have weaker ties with people around us. Connections with families, friends, and neighbors became weaker and occur less often, however, the human desire for love and empathy has not changed. As described by Fredrikson when she says Just as your supplies of clean air and nutritious food forecast how long you ll walk on this earth and whether you ll thrive or just get by so does your supply of love (107). • 16. The Fall Of The Roman Empire Essay Many anthropologists and historians have speculated about the different causes and effects of the fall of the Roman Empire. Some have even stated that Rome did not fall but instead, was merely transformed. However, there were many causes that did end this prodigious empire. Many seemingly small decisions made by powerful emperors over the course of just over a century lead to its destruction. In this paper it will be established that the Roman emperors, in an effort to save their political power, made adjustments to warfare/treaty practices and made political changes which over time lead to the inevitable collapse of the realm, this caused a drastic regression in the living standards of the Roman citizens, implying that the Empire did indeed collapse and not transform. As Rome increased in supremacy around the expanse of the Mediterranean Sea, various enemies were made that caused numerous invasions, increasing Rome s vulnerability. The archeological record shows that the population on the outskirts of the Roman empirewas increasing and this might have led to a scarcity of resources (Goldsworthy 2009). Due to the increased population and decrease in resources the barbarians attacked the empire frequently (Goldsworthy 2009). The first of these more devastating attacks were conducted by the Huns in central and eastern Europe in the years 376 A.D. and 405 A.D. (Heather 2005). • 17. Gun Control Laws Limit Violent Crime Founding Father Benjamin Franklin once said that, Those who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. The great American republic was founded on the principle of liberty for all. The Bill of Rights, which is a pillar of US democracy, clearly stipulates that all citizens have the right to bear arms. It is senseless to sacrifice this fundamental right for a false illusion of safety. We can reference previous periods of history in which the government placed restrictions on products and examine how ineffective they were. Furthermore, we can look at the absence of a correlation between strict gun control measures and reducing violent crimerates in US states. It is time to ensure that our Constitution is upheld to protect the ideals of American democracy. The proposal of restricting US citizens from purchasing firearms is invalid because they are protected to do so under the Constitution, strict government regulations on other harmful products have not been effective in the past, and the idea that gun control laws limit violent crimeis a misconception. As Americans and lovers of liberty, you must exercise your birthright and strike down any proposals to restrict the right to bear arms. Restricting this right is tarnishing the Constitution, which is the central element of American government. This is why the importance of upholding the Second Amendment cannot be emphasized enough. Before the mid 1960s, music still mirrored the sound, stylistic traits and views of the prior decade. Many of the popular records were by artists who had found mainstream success in the 1950s, such as Ray Charles, Elvis Presley and Bill Haley his Comets. From the mid 1960s onwards, a number of social influences changed what popular music was and introduced us to the miscellany that even today we experience with music. The assassination of President Kennedy (1963), the intensification of the Vietnam War (1965 1973) and the advancement of the Civil Rights Movement (1963) all had a significant impact on the disposition of American culture and the music began to reflect that. (Holz, 2010) One of the artists that erupted at this pivotal time was James Brown. Rather than the backbeat that characterised African American music, James Brown developed his signature groove that accentuated the downbeat. Heavy emphasis was put on the first beat and in some cases the third beat of every measure to form his characteristic sound. The job of a forensic artist is quite difficult because he or she must reconstruct an image of an individual based on just hearsay and memory from another individual. The purpose of this study is to research forensic artists, also known as sketchartists, and their ability to draw up a suspect through the information provided by a witness. Interviews on two different forensic artists provide insight of the duties and hardships a law enforcement sketch artist takes on. The process of how law enforcement sketch artists are able to recreate the faceof another individual, and how that picture can be a very useful piece of evidence for crime reports will also be addressed throughout the study. This study is relevant to anthropology because it touches on how how an individual perceives those around them and forensics itself is also one of the key topics discussed in biological anthropology. Statement of the Research Question Sketch artists are capable of reconstructing the faces of suspects by either the detailed information (or lack of detailed information) given to them by those who were at the scene of the crime, which is quite a challenging task to do. It was at this university, that Louis tried to find a solution to the problem manufacturers of alcohol faced at that time. Louis Pasteur, of course, did not invent Germ Theory.
