How Does Andy Warhol Show Signs Of A Death Effect
The main body of this paper compares Andy Warhol s auction data from 1985 to 1996 to Richard
Agnello s avant garde and general art market indexes for signs of a Death Effect. Compared
against both the avant garde and general art market, Warhol shows signs of a slight Death Effect.
This appendix examines Roy Lichtenstein s market for signs of a Death Effect as well. Lichtenstein
was older than Warhol and the usual artist whom the literature suggests can demonstrate a Death
Effect. Heinrich Ursprung and Christian Wiermann (2008) find that the ideal age to exhibit a death
effect is between 60 and 70 because younger artists are not well enough established and the market
already anticipates the death of older artists. To analyze Lichtenstein s ... Show more content on

The general art market, as captured in Mei and Moses s index, began to fall in 1995 and
continued to fall until 1997 (Figure 9). The art market began to rise in 1998, but Lichtenstein s
continued to fall. The year after Lichtenstein s death was the only year Lichtenstein and the
general market diverged. By 1999 Lichtenstein s market rose to rejoin the general market. This
appears to be the opposite of a death effect since total sale prices fell below the general art market.
Lichtenstein s market generally followed the Dow Jones Industrial Averagearound Lichtenstein s
death, but reacted much more significantly. From 1993 to 1995 Lichtenstein rose with the Dow,
but began falling a year before the Dow started to drop (Figure 19). The Dow peaked in 1996 and
started to decline until 1998. During this decline, Lichtenstein s individual market fell much faster
changing over 150% while the Dow fell 15%. The year of Lichtenstein s death briefly departed
from the trend and only fell 1% between 1996 to 1997, though the Dow continued to fall at the

Emotional Analysis Of The Old Spice Scent Vacation...
We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a
conversation with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials
can appear fun or exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of
this, creating commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers
engaged. The process isn t simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one
with only substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience s
attention, but provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of
information, but does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance;
if the balance is off by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero.
The Old Spice Scent Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to
advertise their new collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak
of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional
appeals, imagery, and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish
benefits of switching to Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal.
Old Spice s use of appealing to certain emotions carries strong effects in this commercial. It evokes
a multitude of feelings, anywhere from anger to lust to joy. The commercial

The Cavaliers Research Paper
A tenacious series between two terrific teams, one plagued with injuries and the other determined to
become one of the best teams in history. One man, African American, hulking, towering, robust, and
a marvelous shooter. The other, caucasian, meager, nimble, and an admirable shot creator. A
tenacious battle for LeBron James and Stephen Curry. A series acknowledged thoroughly like
children and the word candy.
The Cavaliers, a basketball team, plagued with injuries and losing two big superstar players. The
injuries damaged the Cavaliers like broken bones. Observing one man, LeBron, hoist his injury
plagued team to victory, would have been astonishing, posting stats such as 45.7 minutes per game,

Character Analysis OfThe Mill On The Floss
The sharp and unruly main character of The Mill on the Floss is Maggie Tulliver. She is a gell
gone nine, at the outset of the story, the daughter of the miller Mr. Tulliver, and lives with her
family on the banks of the Floss (Eliot 8, 9, 12). When Mr. and Mrs. Tulliver begin discussing
the issue of Tom s education in their first conversation of the story, they segue into discussion of
his sister. While Mrs. Tulliver derides Maggie for being unsensible, brown skinned, and
altogether unlike her side of the family, Mr. Tulliver defends her, saying she s a straight, black
eyed wench as anybody need wish to see. I don t know i what she s behind other folks s children;
and she can read almost as well as the parson, (Eliot 12). Maggie s parents further describe her
physiognomy for the reader later in this conversation. From Mrs. Tulliver s perspective, her
daughter s hair exemplifies the issue with Maggie s character. But her hair won t curl all I can do
with it... an there s her cousin Lucy s got a row o curls round her head, an not a hair out o place,
Mrs. Tulliver frets (Eliot 12, 13). Maggie s mother feels that her daughter is a comical mistake,
with her dark, heavy locks, air of a small Shetland pony, and likeness to a Bedlam creature, (Eliot
12, 13). Because of this dissatisfaction, Mrs. Tulliver is forever attempting to make her daughter
more similar to herself and to other folks s respectable, curly haired children. Later in the story,
Maggie s character is further established by juxtaposition to her brother Tom. Tom Tulliver differs
from Maggie not only in appearance, but also in garnering motherly affection: Mrs. Tulliver
continually speaks of him with great approbation and pride, greeting him as my sweet lad! on his
return from school (Eliot 30). In addition to this contrast in affection, a contrast in physical
character is evident between the siblings. Tom is described as a lad with light brown hair, cheeks
of cream and roses, full lips, indeterminate nose and eyebrows... the generic character to boyhood,
while Maggie is moulded and colored with the most decided intention, a dark eyed, demonstrative,
rebellious girl, though it is noted that these physical appearances

Slavery Vs American Slavery
After all of my history classes throughout school, I never seemed to completely understand what all
actually happened during the slavery years throughout the world. Reading these selections has
given me a much better understanding of slavery and the story behind it all. In part one of the
assignment, there were many things that seemed to interest me that I did not know about. One
thing is how the African slaverywas much more different than the American slavery. The passage
states that when the Europeans arrived, slavery had already existed on the continent, but little
did they know the real way slaves were treated in America. The African slaves were allowed to
own land, get married, and own slaves even though they were one themselves. When they were
brought over to America, they learned the brutality of American slavery. They tried to recruit
Native Americans but many died during transportation due to small pox, tuberculosis, and
diphtheria. The Europeans did end up finding a way to fix their labor shortages and that was by
importing slaves from Africa. Later after that, 105 colonist landed in Jamestown and by the next
year, 500 settlers had come to join I had always thought that the laws were quickly and heavily
forced by the land owners but in fact I learned that it actually gradually proceeded, one person, one
law, and one colony at a time. Around this time is when slavery became highly popular around the
South. In part two, there were also many facts that were

Biopsychosocial impact of
Obesity on Early childhood through Late Adulthood Obesity has become an epidemic which
negatively affects millions of American s and individuals from other countries. Individuals whose
mass index score exceeds the 95th percentile is considered obese. Each age group is faced with
normal developmental, social, and psychological challenges. Cognitive and socioemotional
theories developed by Piaget and Erikson define each age and stage of life. In investigating the
cause of obesity in each age group, we must consider the education level, culture, behavior,
socioeconomic status, genetics and environmental factors which predispose an individual to
obesity. The normal biopsychosocial development in people of all ages is negatively impacted by
obesity in epidemic proportions.
Early Childhood and Obesity
Early child is categorized as beginning at age two through age seven. In normal childhood
development in this age group children experience changes in their physical appearance, cognitive
development and social development.
The physical changes in this age group are rapid. They grow about two and a half inches taller and

Similarities In Narratives In Romantic Operas
To discover similarities in narratives in Romantic operas, I defer to Ernest Newman and George
Upton, who are professional music analysts. Newman has written multiple publications on the
great operas of Don Giovanni, Figaro, Turandot, and others. In his book The Wagner Operas, he
analyzes nine of Wagner s operas (Mastersingers of Nuremburg, The Valkyrie, Seigfired and
Parsifial among others). A common theme in many of Wagner s operas is that they involve the
supernatural, and this is in agreement with the immense drama of the Romantic era operas. For
example, in The Flying Dutchman, a phantom ship appears and a ghostly Dutchman (as the title
suggests) requests the marriage of a sailor s daughter to redeem himself (Newman, 1963).
Upton, has compiled plots and music of modern operas into a book published in 1926 as an
addendum to his Standard Handbooks on Music. One of the operas he summarizes is that of
Gioacchino Rossini s William Tell. The death of a herdsman s daughter at the hands of a tyrant s
follower results in the request to Tell to protect the herdsman. In a square, Tell refuses so succumb
to the tyrant s wishes and is jailed. The herdsman rounds up a rescue squad to help him and
succeeds. This is a divergence from the Wagnerian obsession with the supernatural, but is still an
excellent example of Romantic opera(Upton, 1926).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jacobs (an author for the master musician s series of texts), has done extensive research on
Wagner s life; yet the scope of this particular text required the omission of all except the major
events in Wagner s life, so this text is not a comprehensive biography of every event that happened
to him. In the text (chapter four in particular), Jacobs gives insight into the motivations for Tristan;
an interchange between himself, his wife, and another man s wife form some of the basic struggles
that eventually become Tristan and Isolde, and this interchange is explained chronologically in the

APES Period 1
An Analysis of the Challenges Facing the Arctic Ocean
The Arctic is a covers a vast expanse of the Earth. It is touched by 8 different countries, including
Russia and the United States. It is an area of extreme economic and scientific interest, being one of
the last frontiers not yet completely explored or conquered on planet Earth. Can the Arctic be both
an economic powerhouse and an ecological preserve? The answer to this question is yes, it is
possible, but it would be extremely difficult. If the arctic becomes an economic powerhouse, it
will be difficult for it to remain an ecological reserve, and if it become an ecological preserve it
can not become as much of an economic powerhouse. The arctic becoming ... Show more content

If the arctic becomes an area that is open for business for anyone to mine, drill or fish in it is
likely that the habitats of many different species of wildlife will be damaged. Oil spills can
severely hurt many species of bird and fish which live in the Arctic, as well as the animals which
prey on them, and as there is currently no surefire way to fix or contain an underwater oil spill if
it happens, along with the limited infrastructure currently in the Arctic, the results of one could be
disastrous for the Arctic s ecosystem. Over half of all of the United State s fish supply comes
from the Arctic Many areas of the Arctic already are being hurt by illegal fishing and unprofitable
overfishing, which could be curbed if major countries would stop providing subsidies to
unprofitable fishing

Relationship Between Graffiti And Graffiti
The Relations Between Street Art, Graffiti, and Culture
Street art, also known as guerilla art and neo graffiti is a literate and self conscious form of visual
art, created and displayed in public locations, as a way for artists to communicate directly with an
audience. Popular in cities and densely populated urban areas, street art is often commonly confused
with graffiti. However, the two mediums have their differences. Graffiti takes the form of written
words, usually a name or a tag, scrawled across structures such as walls or bridges in spray paint.
Tags tend to be used as claims of territory or dominance over an area, and are demonstrated in a
rebellious fashion.
While also a form of rebellion, street art is a medium where self proclaimed artists use walls,
sidewalks, or any other architectural structure of their choice, and (as the name implies) create art
(which goes beyond the use of one s own name or tag) on the selected surface. Street art can take
many shapes and forms: Stencils, paintings, stickers, or sculpture installations. It can be as simple
as adding to something which is already there, or as complex as installing a huge piece which
covers an entire wall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The roots of street art and graffiti lie in post industrial megapolis cultures according to Magid. As
a result, they are often associated with the idea of urban decay. Being generally more prevalent in
poorer areas, many believe that the presence of street art and graffiti decreases property value.
However, in his article Magid states that graffiti represents an excellent argument for bolstering
police surveillance and that the system can derive advantages not only from the vandalizing nature
of graffiti, but also from its creative element . Although graffiti and street art can represent a
challenge to the law, it also stands as as social commentary about the subjectivity of the laws

It Is Difficult to Remain a Bystander in Any Situation of...
In Conflict there are those who choose to sit on the side and ignore or turn a blind eye to the
situation at hand. Bystanders that do so are often overpowered by the pressures of conflict and are
forced to take part in the conflict or create another further complicating the matters involved. When
a Bystanders values and opinions are challenged indirectly they generally shrug the opposing value
and opinion off, ignoring the actions or words that have challenge them, but an individual can only
do this for so long, quickly falling into the pit of conflict. During the Course of conflict there are
also individuals that crumble to the persistent clashes, which can lead to one being so overwhelmed
that they must choose a new path in order to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If an individual chooses not to stay in that clash, they lead themselves on another path which can
ultimately create a new conflict, an example of this may be from the character Dick from the novel
The secret River where he finds himself unable to withstand the actions of his father, and chooses to
detach himself from his family, creating conflict with his father but remaining a bystander in the
conflict against the aboriginals, Hence why it is often difficult to remain a bystander in any
situation of conflict.
Although some are overwhelmed by the pressures of conflict and choose to create a new path
that better suits one s values or just simply fall into the trap of conflict, there are some that
choose to join certain situations in order to keep the things they value the most. A perfect
example of this would be the character William Thornhill from the novel The Secret River who
in order to save, Sal his beloved wife and his newly acquired land joins the group of farmers on a
mission to exterminate the aboriginals, after so many years of trying to live side by side these so
called Savages which most farmers call them. Hence the reason it is often difficult to remain a
bystander in under the pressures of conflict.

Framing Effect In Frankenstein
Framing effect is the concept in psychology that the way information is presented influences how
the audience feels about the information and can affect the judgments the audience makes about the
information (July 2011. Web. 17 May 2016. .) First we have Walton talking to his sister. Then we
have Victor telling Walton the story. In middle of the story we have the monster telling his part of
the story to Victor, and then Victor telling the monster s story to Walton. Discussing the framing
and how it contributes to the ghost story contributes to the theme that Mary Shelley was going for
in the novel.
To begin with, the three main characters that are involved with the framing of the story are Victor
Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and The Monster. Victor was the creator of the monster. He tried
playing God,but it backfired. Throughout the framing he speaks of his story to Walton, making
you visualize as if you were there. I do not know that the relation of my disasters will be useful to

North Pole and even though he has his crew, he still has the lonely feeling of not the having a

Cord Blood Case Study
Did you know that cord blood can treat over 80 medical conditions and diseases?
Cord blood refers to residual blood that s present in the placenta and umbilical cord immediately
after a baby is born. This blood can be gathered and stored to treat various types of illnesses and
medical conditions.
When harvested immediately after the birth of a baby, cord blood has a number of stem cells that
can take the form of other cell types in the body such as fat, liver, muscle, nerve, and blood cells.
Here are five types of medical conditions the harvested blood can treat.
1. Cancers

and many others.
3. Metabolic Disorders
Cord blood can be used to treat metabolic disorders such as krabbe disease and hurler syndrome,
which have been known to cause weight loss, seizures, and frequent body pain. These medical
conditions can be life threatening. Cord blood can be used as a treatment option for patients with
other metabolic disorders as well, such as sly syndrome, tay sachs, niemann pick disease, and lesch
nyhan syndrome, among many other conditions.
4. Immune Disorders
Cord blood can also be used to treat immune disorders such as myelokathexis and evans syndrome
that cause the body to attack itself. The resulting frequent fevers and fatigue can be very
debilitating. In some cases, immune disorders can be fatal. Among immune disorders that can be

The Wage Gap Is A Conflict Within The Work Force
The occupational wage gap has always been and still continues to be a conflict within the work
force. The gender wage gap is defined as the average income of a male compared to the average
income of a female. There have been a few laws that were put into effect due to women s efforts
to create fairness in the workplace. The first law, called the Equal Pay Act of 1963 signed into
law by President John F. Kennedy, requires men and women in the same workplace be given equal
pay for equal work (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). The Paycheck Fairness Act
is a recent extension of the Equal Pay Act, it gives workers added protection to take action in the
wage discrimination (National Women s Law Center). When comparing full time and year round
workers, 23.5% is the gap between the annual maleearnings compared to women and that has not
changed much since 2001 (Burns, 1). In the profession I have chosen, there is quite a difference in
dominant genderbetween dental hygienists and dentists. Dental hygiene is a very femaledominated
field of work, although few male dental hygienists exist. Due to the gender roles our society has
molded, hygiene is usually compared to nursing because it revolves around care giving service
and many believe that is not a task men are usually willing to do. Contrary to belief, men can be
just as, if not more, nurturing than women. On the other hand, women are perfectly capable of
becoming dentists as well. The culture we were raised in

The Importance of Sharing Religious Rituals in the Home...
The Importance of Sharing Religious Rituals in the Home for Jewish Families
The home is central to Judaism as it is the setting in which a husband and wife mature together and
where children are taught about their religion through example and direct instruction. Both
Orthodox and Liberal Jews will share rituals as a family at home but will not share the same
attitudes and degree of discipline. This can lead to different behaviour.
Sharing rituals in the home can bring a family closer together because they are spending time
together and are unified by their faith. The Shabbat meal can bring the family together because the
family are sharing the Challot and teaching and learning about their faith. ... Show more content on

However, Shabbat may not strengthen a Jewish family but instead cause tension. This may be
brought about by some family members, especially children and teenagers, not wanting to follow
the Shabbat laws if they feel excluded from their friends. They may also resent the repetitiveness of
the celebrating Shabbat every week. If the mother in a Jewish family grew to resent having to make
such extensive preparations every week, this too could cause tension.
Sharing this type of family ritual could become monotonous if performed weekly and I think I
would come to feel anger towards my parents if they made me take part every week and stopped
me from going out. On the other hand, spending time with your family may mean that you would
get on better together and as I grew older I might come to appreciate their discipline towards these
religious rituals.
At Pesach, when Jews celebrate the Exodus from Egypt, the escape from slavery and the
goodness of God for providing for them, all the family help with the preparations. The family
remove all the chamez (leavened bread) from the house and make it into a game by hiding the
pieces of bread. They also prepare the food for the Sedar meal and clean the house. During the
Sedar meal, questions such as Why is tonight different from all other nights? are answered and

INTRODUCTION:
Mitochondrion produces the energy that cell needs by breaking down sugars, fatty acids and
amino acids to CO2 and H2O. In this process, which is called cellular respiration, the chemical
energy in sugar, fatty acid and amino acid molecules is captured as ATP. Krebs cycle is a part of
the cellular respiration that consists of series of reactions. And succinate dehydrogenase is one of the
enzymes that is used in this cycle. It basically catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate. In
this reaction, succinate reduces a FAD molecule, which eventually donates its electrons to
coenzyme Q. However, Azide prevents FADH2 from giving its electrons to coenzyme Q, rather
than an artificial electron acceptor, DCIP takes the electrons. DCIP is a dark blue solution that
gets lighter as it gains electrons. As DCIP gets lighter, its absorbance will decrease. So, the rate
of the reaction can be relatively observed by looking at the absorbance values of DCIP since the
reaction processes, DCIP gains electrons and gets lighter in color. By spectrophotometry we took
the absorbance values. Spectrophotometer is used in the process, which sends beams of light to the
sample and measures the intensity of the light that passes through the sample. This way we can

The Four Genetic Disorders
There are four different types of genetic disorders: single gene mutations, chromosome mutations,
multifactorial, and mitochondria. Single gene mutation, also known as Mendelian disorder, is an
abnormality in the DNA of a gene, and is divided into three categories, dominant, recessive, and X
linked. Chromosomal mutation is a result of extra or lack of a certain number of chromosomes, or
an irregular structure of a chromosome. Multifactorial disorder is caused by multiple genes that are
combined with environmental and by the lifestyle of that particular person. Mitochondrial disorders

Other studies conducted indicate that a high stressful life event has a high significant association
with consequent major depressive episodes at an astounding 75% proportion; evidently stating a
causal relationship (Kendler et al. 1999). Kendler et al. (1999) supported that a higher causal
relationship with stressor events was more evident in the first stage of depression over recurrent
episodes of major depression and furthermore, found that 85.4% of the sample indicated the
stressful event and the arrival of depressive symptoms occurred in the same month. Furthermore
supporting the findings previously stated by Kendall et al (2004), not all major depressive
episodes are as a result of stressor events, but may instead be attributed to the predisposition of
neurotic temperaments (Kendler et al 1999). Further support for Vanessa suffering a major
depressive episode is further ensued by the theory of ambiguous loss termed by Boss (1999) who
describes this term as a situation that stalls the grieving process through the obstruction of coping
and stress management, as a result of physical absence and psychological presence, usually leading
to feelings of guilt, anxiety and uncertainty and ultimately leading to depression. Finally, in an
attempt to demonstrate that Vanessa s reactions to a romantic breakup Parker et al. s (2015) study
demonstrates that depressive symptoms is a primary response to her stressor.

Ans3. These fully automated information kiosks provide a very high business value for the airline
industry which is one of the most emerging fields because of the increasing globalization. Thus a
large no of people keep travelling for business purposes to various countries. These corporate
people do not like spending their precious time waiting in the queue to check in to the airport. As a
result, the implementation of such self service kiosks are always of a very high value for the
airline industry as it helps them getting more customers.
Yes, they do give an airline company a lot of competitive advantage. When an airline company
implements such an information system, by which a customer can do all the things sitting at home
and has to just walk in to the airport half an hour before his flight would surely give that company a
competitive advantage over the others who are not implementing. Because the customers of those

studied Ibuprofen, which originated as an anti acidic drug for gastrointestinal patients. The
purpose of the study was to assess the safety of non inflammatory drugs to treat cardiovascular
disease (BMJ 2016, pg.1). Accordingly, of this study s 10 million participants, 92% had
cardiovascular disease caused by painkillers, and those who stopped using Ibuprofenreduced risk of

minors, physicians lowered doses as a precautionary measure. By contrast, long term users above
age seventy seven who were prescribed higher doses showed an increased risk of heart attack.
Various ages, races, and sexes were tested to generalize results. Hospitalization occurred in 95% of

Life presents questions to every person that experiences it. Many of these question will forever
remain unanswered. The social and psychological problems and questions that life throws at it
attendants are stressed by one of the mid to late 1800 s best problem play authors, Henrik Ibsen.
Ibsen spend most of his writing career exploring the human mind. He had a passion for the truth,
and due to this he conveyed his thoughts through writing. His time period offered many scenarios
for him to write about which still apply to today s society. One of these scenarios is the societal
roles that given to people. Ibsen stressed the importance of societal and gender roles in his ... Show

in a leadership role. The minority follow the doctor. Now, both aspects of the conflict are in full
blast. Society is forcing these brothers to work against each other, ironically for one main shared
purpose. Both of these stories show the affect that society has on communities and individuals,
alike. The need for specific people, such as Torvald and the Stockman brothers, to be what society
wants them to be creates conflicts that are larger than themselves. It creates problems with others.
This is the result of human doing what they do best, make mistakes. The human race evolves over
time, both mentally and physically. With these changes come new responsibilities and decisions.
When people fail to fulfill their responsibilities, conflicts arise. That is seen in these stories. This is
a similar pattern as that of the gender role throughout history. Women were seen as the more
submissive gender. This is because human beings made it this way. All of these conflicts and
problems that are still to this day present are because of humans. As a race, humans create
problems between each other because they feel some sort of unearned privilege to be better than
others. Henrik Ibsen understood this concept; he loved to explore the minds of humans. That is

Hamlet s Frustration Essay
Hamlet s Frustration
In order to understand Hamlet, we must understand his frustration. This frustration is most clear in
his famous monologue, famously beginning with the line Oh what a rogue and peasant slave am I.
This self condemnation is contrasted by his admiration for the actor of the previous scene, who in a
fiction is able to force his soul to his own conceit. The word soul is an example of metonymy, as
the soul represents the actor s visage, tears, distraction, and voice. Thus Hamlet equates soul with
one s actions, so by his own comparison his soul is weak, as he does not take action against the
king. The second sentence is furthermore a rhetorical question, beginning with, Is it notЕ So clearly

Instead of being pregnant Hamlet instead admits he can say nothing. Ironically, the same word
was used earlier to describe the actor s cause ( for nothing,/for Hecuba ). Hamlet thus feels
completely impotent in his situation, like a slave. He rhetorically asks himself, Am I a coward?
From cowardice, humiliation results, as Hamlet in his mind s eye is being taunted by Claudius,
who is calling him a villain. The word villain is especially ironic, since clearly Claudius is the
villain, the murderer, and also since a villain is often meant to mean the antagonist of a play. Thus
in a sense it is Hamlet who is the antagonist of the play, working against his noble instincts. Then
Hamlet describes what Claudius does to him, metaphorically breaking his pate across, and plucking
out his beard, to blow it in his face.
These images of humiliation make one imagine a slave master belittling his slave or an abusive
parent scolding his child. Then he decides he deserves this humiliation, saying swounds, I should
take it since he is pigeon livered and lack[s] gall. This is in violent contrast to what Hamlet
would do or should have done: fatted all the region kites with the slave s offal, which is what
Hamlet feels Claudius deserves. The word slave is ironic since this is what Hamlet feels he himself
is, indicating that the roles

DEFENDING IN FOOTBALL
Defence as a system, is under rated by many coaches in youth and professional football. According
to a survey conducted by students of National Institute of Physical Education in Lleida, Spain,
individual and collective defence practice is generally occupying less than 15 % of all training
sessions (Wein, 2004). It is not surprising to see that the players who win individual awards at the
end of every season is either a goal scoring machine or a midfield maestro. Although there have
been few exceptions (Fabio Cannavaro, Franz Beckenbauer, Lev Yashin), the trend of goal scorers
or goal makers being valued over goal defenders continues. The game is based on attacking and
defending, yet it is difficult to make people understand how significant the art of defending is. A
good attack, like a good defence, decreases the number of losses a club racks up, but defence
provides a more powerful statistical explanation for why teams lose Anderson and Sally, 2013, p.

How Presidents Have Too Much Power
Most of the specifications for the executive branch in the Constitution, other than how he is to
be elected, have to deal with the interactions between Congress and the President. The president
can (fill in the blank) but only if (this part) of Congress approves. The powers of the president
have been interpreted widely so that he has more power than I believe the Framers intended.
They wanted him to be able to check Congress with veto power and be the head of the military.
However, I think that presidents nowadays have too much power. They are active in trying force
their policy agenda through Congress, manage foreign relations, and act as the administrative
head of the entire nation. The textbook lays it out well in, The vast size of the executive branch
and the number and complexity of decisions that must be made each day pose a challenge for the
White House. (316) In order to deal with the stresses put on the executive branch, there are
thousands of employees that work to give the president the information that he needs to make
decisions. He has advisors, cabinet members, legislative liaisons; the list goes on and on, but he
is the person who actually gets to make all of the choices. The President is limited in some ways
and given more power in other ways by the structure laid out for him in the Constitution, and
evolved to be what it is now. Based on the way that the President s office was created, the makeup
of the Congress can present a challenge or an

and Spartaneglected the idea of implementing warfare into their daily lives. Ancient Sparta was the

This gave Rome different types of people to work with and different ideas on ways of training
their soldiers. In general, typical Roman military training consisted of endurance marching,
building field fortifications, developing specialist skills, and weapons exercises (Coulston). A
form of training within Rome, Disciplina or physical and technical training, helped enhance the
bravery of the soldiers along with proper diet and medical support (Coulston). For a warrior
heading into the battlefield, the bravery of the soldiers was a necessity to hold the formations
performed by the Roman warriors. Coupled with this bravery was the security of medical support
mechanisms in the form of surgeons and field medics. Along with disciplina, the weapon training
enhanced the speed and performance of the warriors which included long, repetitive practice and
extra weight equipment (Coulston). This bravery increased the strength at which Rome s armies
would charge at the opposing side; loss of a soldier s brethren usually resulted in an angered state
and could usually turn the tides in a battle. Qualifications for the Roman army were simplistic in
that only males could actually fight in wars, although some women did actually achieve the rank
of general. The population was divided into seven classes; generally the highest classes, or the
Equestrian class, were skilled at being cavalry while the lower five

Essay Emotion in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred...
Emotion in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
In his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot subtly conveys a wide variety of
Prufrock s emotions; he creates pathos for the speaker by employing the objective correlative,
which Eliot defines as a set of objects, a situation, a chain of events [that] shall be the formula of
that particular emotion ( Hamlet and His Problems ).
The first stanza introduces Prufrock s isolation, as epitomized metaphorically by half deserted
streets (4): while empty streets imply solitude, Eliot s diction emphasize Prufrock having been
abandoned by the other half needed for a relationship or an argument (8). Hoping for a companion,
Prufrock speaks to the reader when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The eyes (55) and arms (62) that Prufrock claims to have known are synecdoches for women;
since he does not say he is familiar with their hearts, which would metaphorically imply
experience with their love, Prufrock only knows women physically. He gives one explanation for
this by noting the perfume and dress (65) that make him digress (66) from presumably his goal:
instead of fostering relationships, Prufrock focuses on sexual/sensual aspects. In spite of this,
Eliot provides insight to Prufrock desiring more than physical intimacy through the repeated
mention of meals: toast and tea (34), tea and cakes and ices (79), marmalade (88), tea cups (102);
these references indicate a wish to no longer dine alone, and Prufrock saying, Among the porcelain,
among some talk of you and me exemplifies his aspiration for domestic life.
Eliot explains Prufrock s isolation by hinting at the man s anxiety. When Prufrock says, There will
be time to murder and create, (29), he likely refers to the elimination of possibilities and the
manifestation of a consequent situation and/or problem; he could refer to, for example, how best to
use the time before...toast and tea (34), meaning breakfast, i.e. a night. Copulating would murder
the opportunity of talking all night and could create a problem in the form of an illegitimate child,
while sleeping would eliminate any options, thus forcing Prufrock to

Throughout history, Cromwell has been portrayed in very different lights, especially in Great
Britain. It is an undeniable fact that Cromwell contributed some good to his country. For instance,
numerous laws were made less severe and politics as well as justice less corrupt. In matters of
religion, he granted freedom of worship. Yet, after his death Cromwell was seen as a tyrant and a
king slayer and the people were tired of living under such strict rules. Regarding politics, debates
arose about what effect he had on the political system after his death. It is incontrovertible that his
rule was one of the turning points in British history, as Cromwell ensured that a king would never
be able to rule on his own.
However, nowhere is Cromwell more associated with fevered anti Catholicism and murder than in
Ireland. Cromwell came to Ireland in 1649 pursuing two objectives: to place the island firmly
under the control of British leaders and to suppress those Royalists who wanted to return to the
status quo, in which English monarchy ruled. Those Loyalists and also Irish Catholics were
especially a thorn in the side of Cromwell, as he believed they were all potential traitors and willing
to help any Catholic uprising that wanted to attack England. Cromwell personified the anti
Catholicism of his time and he believed he was carrying out the orders from God by taming the
Irish. His first target was Drogheda, a town in which he slaughtered thousands of Irish people.

Childhood Memories And Its Effects On Our Lives
We each have memories, both from long ago and recent times, that we hold dear to us.
Memories get us through the hard days and keep us chipper in the good ones. The past is what
makes us who we are. It shapes how we act, how we treat others, and simply just what we do on a

By brainstorming we will be able to identify all the possible solution/outcome. From these
possible solutions, we will be able to pick out the optimal solution. As soon as we find the
probable optimal solution to the current problem, we try to implement it. After implementation of
the optimal solution, the next step is to evaluate. After the evaluation is done we come to know
whether the solution which we have implemented is optimal or not. Our current problem that is
addressed in this project is regarding overheating and explosion of SAMSUNG smartphones.
After the brainstorming was done, several solutions were put forward in order to identify
possible reasons of the battery explosion. Following are the possible solutions: Avoid charging

Basic Interpersonal Communicative Skills ( Calp )
1.Compare and contrast BICS and CALP. Name one point that you think teachers should know
about second language acquisition.
Basic Interpersonal Communicative Skills (BICS) refers to a student s ability to understand basic
conversational English, sometimes called social language. Cognitive Academic Language
Proficiency (CALP) refers to a student s ability to effectively understand and use the more
advanced and complex language necessary for success in academic endeavors, sometimes referred

The difference between this two is that BISCS is a more easy way of communication because is

One point teachers should be aware of language acquisition is that the child ability to participate in

she brings people who also have a voice in gay s equality they would like to share, or at times
she will stop her show just to talk about it personally. For instance, in one of her many shows on
February 28, 2008 she stopped and started mentioning a tragic story about a fifteen year old boy .
Larry King; a teenage boy who was gay was shot multiple times by one of his classmates,
Brandon McInerney. The reason why Larry was murdered was simply because he asked
Brandon to be his valentine which to Brandon threatened him so much he believed he had no
other choice . Ellen was heart broken by this and felt she had to share his story so the world
knows how hard it is for some gays or lesbians who cannot come forward because of the fear
society puts on them. Many people were touched by this story so Ellen promoted some charities
they could donate to show their support like The Trevor Project; which is a 24/7 suicide
prevention helpline for homosexuals . There are

Plutonium Missing Magnet
Being a metal, plutonium should technically be magnetic, however, all evidence and studies up to
this point in time have shown the exact opposite. A team at Los Alamos National Laboratory (https:

But there are plenty of metals that don t stick to a magnet.
Yes, that s true, though magnetic in this sense means something a little different. Metals that don t
stick to magnets are known as non ferrous metals . Some of these metals include copper, aluminum,
lead, and nickel along with alloys such as brass. These metals share many similarities, but the one
that keeps them from sticking to magnets is the fact that they don t have trace amounts of iron in
them. The iron is what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Plutonium s Odd State and Missing Magnetism
Marc Janoschek (http://www.lanl.gov/discover/news stories archive/2014/November/janoschek
wolfram prandl prize.php) of the Los Alamos Lab says that, on the atomic level, each atom of a
metal has a set number of electrons that orbit the nucleus that never changes. This set number of
electrons is referred to as the metal in its ground state . The neutrons and electrons both have a
magnetic field that creates an opportunity for the atom to be aligned in another magnetic field.
However, when plutonium s ground state was first measured, it was found that its ground state
could consist of four, five, or six electrons. There was no constant amount of electrons in its
unaltered, fixed ground state. Plutonium fluctuates between three different ground states while also
simultaneously being in all three states at the same time. The basis for this theory was first
imagined at Rutgers University in 2007, but thanks to Janoschek and his team, it has been proven
correct. The reason to plutonium s missing magnetism has been

Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder, Unflavored Review
I bought this product in hopes that it would help me bulk up. I ve become a pretty healthy guy, I
work out about 3 times a week. I started working out with my girlfriend 6 months ago. I eat clean
and train as hard as I can, but I was not the size I wanted to be. I decided to invest in Optimum
Nutrition Creatine Powder. A friend had recommended this brand to me so I thought I d give it a
shot. I started using it in addition to my workout plan and eating schedule.
After some initial research I found out that this produce has 5000 mg of Creatine Monohydrate.
This supplement is great for helping muscles grow. It also helps you recover more quickly and

Most protein powders out there are way too expensive for what you re actually getting. I don t
mind spending a little extra but it should be proportional. I didn t think twice about buying this
product. This one is a bang for your buck.
It works. I ve tried a lot of pills, supplements, and powders in the past. I didn t really see the
results that I wanted from those, so I was happy to find something that worked for me. I felt an
increase in my energy as I started to use it, so I didn t feel so fatigued during my workouts. The fact
that I actually saw results was motivating.
It s unflavored. For me this is a pro because I would rather have the option of adding it to
anything. If something is chocolate or vanilla flavored I think about what would taste best with it.
When it s unflavored, you can mix it with anything. I usually add it to coffee or my

Coast beaches occurs mostly to the sand on the beaches where the waves can easily erode away.

These sand dunes are important to the coastline and should be protected from these natural
threats. The dunes are important because it is used as a buffer against wave damages caused by
storms, cyclones, king tides, etc. which protects the land behind from salt water intrusions. The
dunes also act as a sand storage area to replenish and maintain the beach at times of erosion. Sand
suns also provide a foundation for ecosystems made up of a wide variety of coastal life. (http:/
/curiosity.discovery.com/question/why dunes coastal areas). Due to the sand dunes being swept
away by the cyclones and king tides all the protection that the dunes are providing to the inland is
slowly decreasing because of the erosion that the cyclones and king tides cause. The erosion effects
the foreshore most out of all the parts of the sand dunes. The foreshore is most affected because it is
where the waves are most frequently hitting that part of the sand dunes which means that erosion
will occur faster there. Due to the foreshore wearing away, sand from the foredune and interdune
will replace the sand that has been washed away which means that the establishments that are on the

Thorough analysis and response essay on Civil Peace by...
Civil Peace. One rarely hears those two words together. It is usually either Civil War, or perhaps
Civil Chaos, but rarely is it Civil Peace. This is because it is not the times of peace that are
remembered, but the times of war. It is during these times that people truly shine as the need arises
or are exposed for their truer, more evil selves. Like Jamie Sullivan said in A Walk to Remember,
There would be no compassion without suffering. Chinua Achebes Civil Peace is a story about going
through hardships and never forgetting what is most important.
Civil Peace is set in the early 1970 s in the country of Nigeria. There had been a civil war in the late
1960 s that had had a devastating effect on the country. When the civil war had... Show more

Jonathan also checks up on his old mining job, but after finding that it had become an
unpredictable job, he decides to focus on his bar. Some time after, he receives a 20 pound egg
rasher for turning in rebel money. Then, that night, after Jonathan finally falls asleep after being
anxious about receiving the egg rasher, someone begins to knock on the door. Jonathan and his
family wake up and begin yelling to try to wake up the soldiers, but to no avail. Then, in a mockery
of them, the gang begins yelling the same thing. Jonathan asks them what they want, and the leader
responds with a request for 100 pounds and a threat of gunfire, which makes Maria and the children
cry. Jonathan then tells them that he only has 20 pounds, and that they could search his house and
if they find more, they could kill him and his family. The leader accepts the 20 pounds and leaves.
The story ends with Jonathan telling his sympathizers that the loss of the egg rasher is nothing
important to him, that more important things were lost in the war, and that he is content with what
he has.
There are quite a few symbols in this story. Jonathan Iwegbu symbolizes all people in this world,
all having their own miracles and blessings, and conflicts and hardships. Jonathan s family
represents those that help people enjoy their blessings and get through their hardships. The bicycle,
the house, and the egg rasher all symbolize the things in this world

A few months back when visiting friends out of town, I decided to go all out and try this

Kitchenpaid Research Paper
One of the best gifts my husband ever bought me was a KitchenAid Pro Series 600 stand mixer.
He knew I wanted one but wouldn t spend the nearly $600 on myself. He researched all the
brands and models and settled on one. KitchenAid mixers are excellent to have because of their
superior durability, multiple available attachments, time saving ability, and aesthetic appeal.
After two years of heavy use I can definitely say it was an exceptional purchase. When selecting a
mixer my husband did most of his research online; he read reviews and consumer reports as well
as getting background information on the different companies. KitchenAid has been in business
since 1919 and their only product was the stand mixer. For people like my husband and I, we
appreciate that they are still made in the United States of America (Adams, 2009). KitchenAid had
the best reviews and warranties out of all the similar type mixers. If you think you don t do enough
baking to warrant buying such an expensive toy, just wait until you see what this appliance can do.

The Soviet Union And The Central Asian Republics
Topic 1: Evaluate the extent to which the Soviet Union was successful in transforming the
traditional tribal and clan identities in the Central Asian Republics?
Introduction
Central Asia, also known the middle Asia is the core region of Asian continent, which stretches
from the Caspian Sea in the east to China in the West and from the South to the Afghanistan and
Russia in the North (Collins, 2002). The Soviet Union was a socialist state in that existed between
1922 and 1991, in Eurasia. The union was a one party federation, the communist party and with its
capital in Moscow. It had multiple sub national republics with its economy and the government
being highly centralised. It had its roots in the revolution of 1917 October. The Soviet ... Show more

Those observers who valued cultural preconditions would have expected a new Asia to be
underwritten from Asian values or a theocracy from Islamic values or Leninist legacy to perpetuate
something like the Soviet regime. The theorists who did see the modernisation of the economy
were also doubtful when it came to the popular government in the region (Vladislav, 2009). The
Soviet Central Asia s most important economic indicators saw it as notably higher than Africa and
South Asia and still came out nearing the bottom of the post communist world with much of rural
economies and less of a middle class (Robert, 2009). The high level of literacy in Central Asia
although suggested that democratic beliefs and civil society could emerge. This seemed unlikely to
outweigh other legacies, but the preconditions thinking of every stripe anticipated uniformity of
regimes and at the same time a uniformly nondemocratic regime all across the post Soviet Central
Asia.
Even if the future was projected along the continued communism of even continued disagreements
along ethnicity and Islam remained oblivious, one thing was certain that democracy transition of
any kind was not likely. All in all a transition began later on in Kyrgyzstan. As from 2002, all the
five Central Asian states are under one form or another of authoritarian rule (Bishkek, 2014). To

Power training involves applying a force at the greatest speed possible (Power = force x velocity).
Jumping is a powerful movement and it must be trained using exercises which require a high
power output. In a previous article, I had described the importance of strength in vertical jump
training development. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application
in the power equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation.
Performing movements at a high velocity is the goal when designing power based exercises along
with a second goal of focusing on maximum effort with each repetition. There are two major types
of power exercises, those which involve more than body weight resistance and those utilizing only
body weight. This article will discuss the application of performing power exercises which
incorporate an added resistance through weight training. Power resistance exercises can fall into
several categories:
1) weightlifting exercises with a low to moderate percentage

Didion On Critical Thinking
Klooster: Independent thinking is one of the many key words the author uses. By Independent
thinking the author means that each person forms his or her own ideas. That however does not
mean that they cannot agree with someone else but that they have the ability to choose whether
or not they do. A passage in the text that I found interesting is when the author finally states the
fifth form of critically thinking, which is social thinking. I found this passage important
because the author is write. Critically thinking is influenced by those around us because they
challenge not only our norms but our ideas. Whether we notice if we are thinking critically or
not. The passage where the author states the fourth form of critical thinking, which is seeking
reasoned arguments. For critically thinking one has to defend a claim or point out why they
believe such claim is correct or better and by doing do they need evidence. So while we might
all be entitled to our opinion we should research why we believe a certain thing is superior than
another thing. Didion: The overall purpose of Didion s essay is to show you her writing process.
Which is that something so vague like a picture or a memory can create a whole novel. She

Why Was Ancient Greek Culture Important
The Importance of Ancient Greek Culture
The ancient Greeks were unquestionably a gargantuan reason that today s civilizations are
remarkably developed. Their ideas have affected multiple generations. In many ways too. For
example their political, religious, and economic structures have all altered the United States and
even the world. These three aspects are just a few instances of the importance of Ancient Greece.
These, however, are the main reasons that Ancient Greecewas so esteemed.
One aspect of culture that was essential in ancient Greece was politics. Before most of ancient
Greece had a democratic or oligarchical type of government, most of them were monarchies; in
other words, they were governments controlled by kings. The ... Show more content on

This is displayed in Sophocles s play where the text reads: You know your orders: take her to the
vault and leave her alone there. And if she lives or dies, that s her affair, not ours: our hands are
clean . Creon had enough trust in the gods that he decided to basically force Antigone to pray to
the gods to let her live. She was left in a vault where she had no contact with anybody. While
some Greeks did believe in the gods to a great extent, there is also evidence that most of them did
not. Many of Greeks did not regularly pray to the gods. This is proven in the quote: ...it is easy
to overlook the fact that most Greeks believed in their gods in roughly the modern sense of the
term and that they prayed in a time of crisis not merely to the relevant deity... . This evinces that it
was only crucial to pray when there was a crisis or vital problem. Obviously, it is clear to see that
religion was important to the Greeks, but another aspect that was important was the economy.
Finally, the economic aspect of ancient Greece was important to the Greek culture. If a Greek had
more wealth, it would display that they had more authority and power than other poorer citizens.
Sophocles 441 B.C. play Antigone explains, however, in the quote, ...the wisest have sometimes
been known to count a few coins too many. Creon contrastingly expresses his idea of wealth. He
clarifies that the economic system is imperfect and should be improved. He basically explains that

  • 2. How Does Andy Warhol Show Signs Of A Death Effect The main body of this paper compares Andy Warhol s auction data from 1985 to 1996 to Richard Agnello s avant garde and general art market indexes for signs of a Death Effect. Compared against both the avant garde and general art market, Warhol shows signs of a slight Death Effect. This appendix examines Roy Lichtenstein s market for signs of a Death Effect as well. Lichtenstein was older than Warhol and the usual artist whom the literature suggests can demonstrate a Death Effect. Heinrich Ursprung and Christian Wiermann (2008) find that the ideal age to exhibit a death effect is between 60 and 70 because younger artists are not well enough established and the market already anticipates the death of older artists. To analyze Lichtenstein s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The general art market, as captured in Mei and Moses s index, began to fall in 1995 and continued to fall until 1997 (Figure 9). The art market began to rise in 1998, but Lichtenstein s continued to fall. The year after Lichtenstein s death was the only year Lichtenstein and the general market diverged. By 1999 Lichtenstein s market rose to rejoin the general market. This appears to be the opposite of a death effect since total sale prices fell below the general art market. Lichtenstein s market generally followed the Dow Jones Industrial Averagearound Lichtenstein s death, but reacted much more significantly. From 1993 to 1995 Lichtenstein rose with the Dow, but began falling a year before the Dow started to drop (Figure 19). The Dow peaked in 1996 and started to decline until 1998. During this decline, Lichtenstein s individual market fell much faster changing over 150% while the Dow fell 15%. The year of Lichtenstein s death briefly departed from the trend and only fell 1% between 1996 to 1997, though the Dow continued to fall at the same rate of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Emotional Analysis Of The Old Spice Scent Vacation... We all know a person who looks very confident and put together on the outside, but a conversation with them reveals that much is lacking in their personality. Similarly, commercials can appear fun or exciting, but upon further inspection it is greatly lacking in depth. Because of this, creating commercials is a balance between providing information and keeping the viewers engaged. The process isn t simply writing a script containing only style and no substance, or one with only substance and no style. With the former, a commercial could capture the audience s attention, but provides no supporting information; the latter, provides an excessive amount of information, but does not seize the viewers. Creating commercials pines for the utmost balance; if the balance is off by a fraction, it could mean the difference between a million dollars or zero. The Old Spice Scent Vacation commercial sits atop the pinnacle of this balance. It was made to advertise their new collection of scents ranging from the scenic beaches of Fiji to the snowy peak of Denali (Mt. McKinley). The commercial illustrates this balance through the use of emotional appeals, imagery, and appeals to authority and credibility to convince people of the outlandish benefits of switching to Old Spice, in terms of confidence and sexual appeal. Old Spice s use of appealing to certain emotions carries strong effects in this commercial. It evokes a multitude of feelings, anywhere from anger to lust to joy. The commercial ... A tenacious battle for LeBron James and Stephen Curry. A series acknowledged thoroughly like children and the word candy. The Cavaliers, a basketball team, plagued with injuries and losing two big superstar players. The injuries damaged the Cavaliers like broken bones. • 5. Character Analysis OfThe Mill On The Floss The sharp and unruly main character of The Mill on the Floss is Maggie Tulliver. She is a gell gone nine, at the outset of the story, the daughter of the miller Mr. Tulliver, and lives with her family on the banks of the Floss (Eliot 8, 9, 12). When Mr. and Mrs. Tulliver begin discussing the issue of Tom s education in their first conversation of the story, they segue into discussion of his sister. While Mrs. Tulliver derides Maggie for being unsensible, brown skinned, and altogether unlike her side of the family, Mr. Tulliver defends her, saying she s a straight, black eyed wench as anybody need wish to see. I don t know i what she s behind other folks s children; and she can read almost as well as the parson, (Eliot 12). Maggie s parents further describe her physiognomy for the reader later in this conversation. From Mrs. Tulliver s perspective, her daughter s hair exemplifies the issue with Maggie s character. But her hair won t curl all I can do with it... an there s her cousin Lucy s got a row o curls round her head, an not a hair out o place, Mrs. Tulliver frets (Eliot 12, 13). Maggie s mother feels that her daughter is a comical mistake, with her dark, heavy locks, air of a small Shetland pony, and likeness to a Bedlam creature, (Eliot 12, 13). Because of this dissatisfaction, Mrs. Tulliver is forever attempting to make her daughter more similar to herself and to other folks s respectable, curly haired children. Later in the story, Maggie s character is further established by juxtaposition to her brother Tom. Tom Tulliver differs from Maggie not only in appearance, but also in garnering motherly affection: Mrs. Tulliver continually speaks of him with great approbation and pride, greeting him as my sweet lad! on his return from school (Eliot 30). In addition to this contrast in affection, a contrast in physical character is evident between the siblings. Tom is described as a lad with light brown hair, cheeks of cream and roses, full lips, indeterminate nose and eyebrows... the generic character to boyhood, while Maggie is moulded and colored with the most decided intention, a dark eyed, demonstrative, rebellious girl, though it is noted that these physical appearances ... • 6. Slavery Vs American Slavery After all of my history classes throughout school, I never seemed to completely understand what all actually happened during the slavery years throughout the world. Reading these selections has given me a much better understanding of slavery and the story behind it all. In part one of the assignment, there were many things that seemed to interest me that I did not know about. One thing is how the African slaverywas much more different than the American slavery. The passage states that when the Europeans arrived, slavery had already existed on the continent, but little did they know the real way slaves were treated in America. The African slaves were allowed to own land, get married, and own slaves even though they were one themselves. When they were brought over to America, they learned the brutality of American slavery. They tried to recruit Native Americans but many died during transportation due to small pox, tuberculosis, and diphtheria. The Europeans did end up finding a way to fix their labor shortages and that was by importing slaves from Africa. Later after that, 105 colonist landed in Jamestown and by the next year, 500 settlers had come to join I had always thought that the laws were quickly and heavily forced by the land owners but in fact I learned that it actually gradually proceeded, one person, one law, and one colony at a time. Around this time is when slavery became highly popular around the South. In part two, there were also many facts that were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Similarities In Narratives In Romantic Operas To discover similarities in narratives in Romantic operas, I defer to Ernest Newman and George Upton, who are professional music analysts. Newman has written multiple publications on the great operas of Don Giovanni, Figaro, Turandot, and others. In his book The Wagner Operas, he analyzes nine of Wagner s operas (Mastersingers of Nuremburg, The Valkyrie, Seigfired and Parsifial among others). A common theme in many of Wagner s operas is that they involve the supernatural, and this is in agreement with the immense drama of the Romantic era operas. For example, in The Flying Dutchman, a phantom ship appears and a ghostly Dutchman (as the title suggests) requests the marriage of a sailor s daughter to redeem himself (Newman, 1963). Upton, has compiled plots and music of modern operas into a book published in 1926 as an addendum to his Standard Handbooks on Music. One of the operas he summarizes is that of Gioacchino Rossini s William Tell. The death of a herdsman s daughter at the hands of a tyrant s follower results in the request to Tell to protect the herdsman. In a square, Tell refuses so succumb to the tyrant s wishes and is jailed. The herdsman rounds up a rescue squad to help him and succeeds. This is a divergence from the Wagnerian obsession with the supernatural, but is still an excellent example of Romantic opera(Upton, 1926).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jacobs (an author for the master musician s series of texts), has done extensive research on Wagner s life; yet the scope of this particular text required the omission of all except the major events in Wagner s life, so this text is not a comprehensive biography of every event that happened to him. It is touched by 8 different countries, including Russia and the United States. It is an area of extreme economic and scientific interest, being one of the last frontiers not yet completely explored or conquered on planet Earth. Can the Arctic be both an economic powerhouse and an ecological preserve? The answer to this question is yes, it is possible, but it would be extremely difficult. • 10. Relationship Between Graffiti And Graffiti The Relations Between Street Art, Graffiti, and Culture Street art, also known as guerilla art and neo graffiti is a literate and self conscious form of visual art, created and displayed in public locations, as a way for artists to communicate directly with an audience. Popular in cities and densely populated urban areas, street art is often commonly confused with graffiti. However, the two mediums have their differences. Graffiti takes the form of written words, usually a name or a tag, scrawled across structures such as walls or bridges in spray paint. Tags tend to be used as claims of territory or dominance over an area, and are demonstrated in a rebellious fashion. While also a form of rebellion, street art is a medium where self proclaimed artists use walls, sidewalks, or any other architectural structure of their choice, and (as the name implies) create art (which goes beyond the use of one s own name or tag) on the selected surface. Street art can take many shapes and forms: Stencils, paintings, stickers, or sculpture installations. It can be as simple as adding to something which is already there, or as complex as installing a huge piece which covers an entire wall. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The roots of street art and graffiti lie in post industrial megapolis cultures according to Magid. As a result, they are often associated with the idea of urban decay. Being generally more prevalent in poorer areas, many believe that the presence of street art and graffiti decreases property value. However, in his article Magid states that graffiti represents an excellent argument for bolstering police surveillance and that the system can derive advantages not only from the vandalizing nature of graffiti, but also from its creative element . Although graffiti and street art can represent a challenge to the law, it also stands as as social commentary about the subjectivity of the laws ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If an individual chooses not to stay in that clash, they lead themselves on another path which can ultimately create a new conflict, an example of this may be from the character Dick from the novel The secret River where he finds himself unable to withstand the actions of his father, and chooses to detach himself from his family, creating conflict with his father but remaining a bystander in the conflict against the aboriginals, Hence why it is often difficult to remain a bystander in any situation of conflict. Although some are overwhelmed by the pressures of conflict and choose to create a new path that better suits one s values or just simply fall into the trap of conflict, there are some that choose to join certain situations in order to keep the things they value the most. A perfect example of this would be the character William Thornhill from the novel The Secret River who in order to save, Sal his beloved wife and his newly acquired land joins the group of farmers on a mission to exterminate the aboriginals, after so many years of trying to live side by side these so called Savages which most farmers call them. • 12. Framing Effect In Frankenstein Framing effect is the concept in psychology that the way information is presented influences how the audience feels about the information and can affect the judgments the audience makes about the information (July 2011. Web. 17 May 2016. .) First we have Walton talking to his sister. Then we have Victor telling Walton the story. In middle of the story we have the monster telling his part of the story to Victor, and then Victor telling the monster s story to Walton. Discussing the framing and how it contributes to the ghost story contributes to the theme that Mary Shelley was going for in the novel. To begin with, the three main characters that are involved with the framing of the story are Victor Frankenstein, Robert Walton, and The Monster. Victor was the creator of the monster. • 16. The Wage Gap Is A Conflict Within The Work Force The occupational wage gap has always been and still continues to be a conflict within the work force. The gender wage gap is defined as the average income of a male compared to the average income of a female. There have been a few laws that were put into effect due to women s efforts to create fairness in the workplace. The first law, called the Equal Pay Act of 1963 signed into law by President John F. Kennedy, requires men and women in the same workplace be given equal pay for equal work (U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission). The Paycheck Fairness Act is a recent extension of the Equal Pay Act, it gives workers added protection to take action in the wage discrimination (National Women s Law Center). When comparing full time and year round workers, 23.5% is the gap between the annual maleearnings compared to women and that has not changed much since 2001 (Burns, 1). In the profession I have chosen, there is quite a difference in dominant genderbetween dental hygienists and dentists. Dental hygiene is a very femaledominated field of work, although few male dental hygienists exist. Due to the gender roles our society has molded, hygiene is usually compared to nursing because it revolves around care giving service and many believe that is not a task men are usually willing to do. Contrary to belief, men can be just as, if not more, nurturing than women. On the other hand, women are perfectly capable of becoming dentists as well. The culture we were raised in ... The Importance of Sharing Religious Rituals in the Home for Jewish Families The home is central to Judaism as it is the setting in which a husband and wife mature together and where children are taught about their religion through example and direct instruction. Both Orthodox and Liberal Jews will share rituals as a family at home but will not share the same attitudes and degree of discipline. This can lead to different behaviour. Sharing rituals in the home can bring a family closer together because they are spending time together and are unified by their faith. The Shabbat meal can bring the family together because the family are sharing the Challot and teaching and learning about their faith. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, Shabbat may not strengthen a Jewish family but instead cause tension. This may be brought about by some family members, especially children and teenagers, not wanting to follow the Shabbat laws if they feel excluded from their friends. They may also resent the repetitiveness of the celebrating Shabbat every week. If the mother in a Jewish family grew to resent having to make such extensive preparations every week, this too could cause tension. Sharing this type of family ritual could become monotonous if performed weekly and I think I would come to feel anger towards my parents if they made me take part every week and stopped me from going out. On the other hand, spending time with your family may mean that you would get on better together and as I grew older I might come to appreciate their discipline towards these religious rituals. At Pesach, when Jews celebrate the Exodus from Egypt, the escape from slavery and the goodness of God for providing for them, all the family help with the preparations. The family remove all the chamez (leavened bread) from the house and make it into a game by hiding the pieces of bread. They also prepare the food for the Sedar meal and clean the house. Summary Of Succinate Dehydrogenase Activity Of Mitochondria Succinate Dehydrogenase Activity of Mitochondria Student Name: Lolwa Alfouzan SMU Id Number: A00423662 Date:16, November 2017 Lab time: 2:30 5:29 Biol2321(cell biology) Lab Section:(01) Lab (7) Full lab report INTRODUCTION: Mitochondrion produces the energy that cell needs by breaking down sugars, fatty acids and amino acids to CO2 and H2O. In this process, which is called cellular respiration, the chemical energy in sugar, fatty acid and amino acid molecules is captured as ATP. Krebs cycle is a part of the cellular respiration that consists of series of reactions. And succinate dehydrogenase is one of the enzymes that is used in this cycle. It basically catalyzes the oxidation of succinate to fumarate. In this reaction, succinate reduces a FAD molecule, which eventually donates its electrons to coenzyme Q. However, Azide prevents FADH2 from giving its electrons to coenzyme Q, rather than an artificial electron acceptor, DCIP takes the electrons. DCIP is a dark blue solution that gets lighter as it gains electrons. As DCIP gets lighter, its absorbance will decrease. So, the rate of the reaction can be relatively observed by looking at the absorbance values of DCIP since the reaction processes, DCIP gains electrons and gets lighter in color. By spectrophotometry we took the absorbance values. Spectrophotometer is used in the process, which sends beams of light to the sample and measures the intensity of the light that passes through the sample. This way we can ... Furthermore supporting the findings previously stated by Kendall et al (2004), not all major depressive episodes are as a result of stressor events, but may instead be attributed to the predisposition of neurotic temperaments (Kendler et al 1999). Further support for Vanessa suffering a major depressive episode is further ensued by the theory of ambiguous loss termed by Boss (1999) who describes this term as a situation that stalls the grieving process through the obstruction of coping and stress management, as a result of physical absence and psychological presence, usually leading to feelings of guilt, anxiety and uncertainty and ultimately leading to depression. Both of these stories show the affect that society has on communities and individuals, alike. This frustration is most clear in his famous monologue, famously beginning with the line Oh what a rogue and peasant slave am I. This self condemnation is contrasted by his admiration for the actor of the previous scene, who in a fiction is able to force his soul to his own conceit. The word soul is an example of metonymy, as the soul represents the actor s visage, tears, distraction, and voice. Thus Hamlet equates soul with one s actions, so by his own comparison his soul is weak, as he does not take action against the king. The second sentence is furthermore a rhetorical question, beginning with, Is it notЕ So clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of being pregnant Hamlet instead admits he can say nothing. Ironically, the same word was used earlier to describe the actor s cause ( for nothing,/for Hecuba ). Hamlet thus feels completely impotent in his situation, like a slave. He rhetorically asks himself, Am I a coward? From cowardice, humiliation results, as Hamlet in his mind s eye is being taunted by Claudius, who is calling him a villain. The word villain is especially ironic, since clearly Claudius is the villain, the murderer, and also since a villain is often meant to mean the antagonist of a play. Thus in a sense it is Hamlet who is the antagonist of the play, working against his noble instincts. Then Hamlet describes what Claudius does to him, metaphorically breaking his pate across, and plucking out his beard, to blow it in his face. These images of humiliation make one imagine a slave master belittling his slave or an abusive parent scolding his child. Then he decides he deserves this humiliation, saying swounds, I should take it since he is pigeon livered and lack[s] gall. Along with disciplina, the weapon training enhanced the speed and performance of the warriors which included long, repetitive practice and extra weight equipment (Coulston). This bravery increased the strength at which Rome s armies would charge at the opposing side; loss of a soldier s brethren usually resulted in an angered state and could usually turn the tides in a battle. Qualifications for the Roman army were simplistic in that only males could actually fight in wars, although some women did actually achieve the rank of general. • 37. Essay Emotion in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred... Emotion in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock In his poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock, T.S. Eliot subtly conveys a wide variety of Prufrock s emotions; he creates pathos for the speaker by employing the objective correlative, which Eliot defines as a set of objects, a situation, a chain of events [that] shall be the formula of that particular emotion ( Hamlet and His Problems ). The first stanza introduces Prufrock s isolation, as epitomized metaphorically by half deserted streets (4): while empty streets imply solitude, Eliot s diction emphasize Prufrock having been abandoned by the other half needed for a relationship or an argument (8). Hoping for a companion, Prufrock speaks to the reader when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eyes (55) and arms (62) that Prufrock claims to have known are synecdoches for women; since he does not say he is familiar with their hearts, which would metaphorically imply experience with their love, Prufrock only knows women physically. He gives one explanation for this by noting the perfume and dress (65) that make him digress (66) from presumably his goal: instead of fostering relationships, Prufrock focuses on sexual/sensual aspects. In spite of this, Eliot provides insight to Prufrock desiring more than physical intimacy through the repeated mention of meals: toast and tea (34), tea and cakes and ices (79), marmalade (88), tea cups (102); these references indicate a wish to no longer dine alone, and Prufrock saying, Among the porcelain, among some talk of you and me exemplifies his aspiration for domestic life. Eliot explains Prufrock s isolation by hinting at the man s anxiety. When Prufrock says, There will be time to murder and create, (29), he likely refers to the elimination of possibilities and the manifestation of a consequent situation and/or problem; he could refer to, for example, how best to use the time before...toast and tea (34), meaning breakfast, i.e. a night. Copulating would murder the opportunity of talking all night and could create a problem in the form of an illegitimate child, while sleeping would eliminate any options, thus forcing Prufrock to ... There are few people in Great Britain and Ireland today who have not yet heard of Oliver Cromwell and either loathe him or see him as a hero. Yet, the world is not black and white and so is the truth about Cromwell. In order to understand his role in both countries as a whole, one has to look at the perspective of both nations, Cromwell s beliefs and his motives. Throughout history, Cromwell has been portrayed in very different lights, especially in Great Britain. It is an undeniable fact that Cromwell contributed some good to his country. For instance, numerous laws were made less severe and politics as well as justice less corrupt. In matters of religion, he granted freedom of worship. Yet, after his death Cromwell was seen as a tyrant and a king slayer and the people were tired of living under such strict rules. Regarding politics, debates arose about what effect he had on the political system after his death. It is incontrovertible that his rule was one of the turning points in British history, as Cromwell ensured that a king would never be able to rule on his own. However, nowhere is Cromwell more associated with fevered anti Catholicism and murder than in Ireland. Cromwell came to Ireland in 1649 pursuing two objectives: to place the island firmly under the control of British leaders and to suppress those Royalists who wanted to return to the status quo, in which English monarchy ruled. Those Loyalists and also Irish Catholics were especially a thorn in the side of Cromwell, as he believed they were all potential traitors and willing to help any Catholic uprising that wanted to attack England. Cromwell personified the anti Catholicism of his time and he believed he was carrying out the orders from God by taming the Irish. His first target was Drogheda, a town in which he slaughtered thousands of Irish people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As soon as we find the probable optimal solution to the current problem, we try to implement it. After implementation of the optimal solution, the next step is to evaluate. After the evaluation is done we come to know whether the solution which we have implemented is optimal or not. Our current problem that is addressed in this project is regarding overheating and explosion of SAMSUNG smartphones. After the brainstorming was done, several solutions were put forward in order to identify possible reasons of the battery explosion. Following are the possible solutions: Avoid charging and using phone simultaneously One of the major reasons identified was charging of the phone and using is simultaneously. The neutrons and electrons both have a magnetic field that creates an opportunity for the atom to be aligned in another magnetic field. However, when plutonium s ground state was first measured, it was found that its ground state could consist of four, five, or six electrons. There was no constant amount of electrons in its unaltered, fixed ground state. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application in the power equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation.
