Glorification Of Nature In Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
The power and glorification of nature and how it can be a spiritual source of renewal for individuals is
highlighted through the works of artists of the Romantic period. Rime of the Ancient Mariner by
Samuel Coleridge and Blueback by Tim Winton both display the influences that nature can have on an
individual, spiritually and emotionally, and presents a clearer understanding of the natural world.
The poem by Samuel Coleridge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner depicts a strong belief and interest in
nature and how the natural world can be a place where God can be found. The contrast between the
language of the quotes slimy things and O happy living things demonstrates this change in perspective
as the narrator realises the beauty of nature. During his punishment, the Mariner was able to see the
real beauty of nature and as a result, he had the ability to rejoice and pray about what he was seeing.
By recognising the elegance in the environment that surrounded him, it enabled the Mariner to be free
from his imprisonment. Like the belief in God, the Mariner first feared but finally loved the natural
elements of the world. Throughout the journey, the wonder and beauty of nature and how it can be a
spiritual finding is brought into focus.
Through the use of a metaphor in the quote As if it had been a Christian soul, we hailed it in God s
name. it reveals that the albatross was seen as a connection to God. The albatross was seen as a good
omen and it was the first sign of life

Firearms Legislation across the States and its...
The first question to be considered in this paper is the problem of similarity of firearms legislation
across the states and its correspondence with the federal legislation. The hypothesis is that, no matter
how many acts were enacted by the local governments in addition to the federal legislation, the
general idea of the basic federal legislation on this matter has been preserved, and there are no
dramatic changes in the main approaches. The second question arises whether the diversity of firearms
legislation across the states is a consequence of different rates of gun violence, the variations in
demographics and cultural backgrounds, or the political influences and conventional approaches to
this problem. The hypothesis of the study is that no increase in gun violence within separate states
with stricter or laxer firearms legislation has been even observed, so there is no direct correlation
between gun violence rates and the adoption of new laws regulating the gun ownership and sale.
The third research question relates to the most important reasons of such diversity in the firearms
legislation amid the states and localities. It relates to the historical, cultural, and political backgrounds
of different states. The most important effect on this diversity is produced by the political views
supported in separate states, and it is unlikely that cultural and social backgrounds, demographic
factors, or the racial content of the population have sufficient influences.

A branched chain amino acid (BCAA) is an amino corrosive having aliphatic side chains with a
branch (a focal carbon molecule bound to three or more carbon molecules). Among the proteinogenic
amino acids, there are three BCAAs: leucine, isoleucine and valine. Non proteinogenic BCAAs
incorporate norvaline and 2 aminoisobutyric acid.
The three proteinogenic BCAAs are among the nine key amino acids for people, representing 35% of
the crucial amino acids in muscle proteins and 40% of the preformed amino acids needed by warm
blooded animals.
Breaking down of bcaa
Degradation of cellucor bcaa includes the branched chain alpha keto corrosive dehydrogenase

Theories Of Durkheim
Émile Durkheim is widely considered to be one of the founders of the science of sociology. Towards
the end of his book, The Rules of Sociological Method, he writes that a science cannot be considered
definitively constituted until it has succeeded in establishing its own independent status (150), a
statement that strongly suggests that with this work Durkheim is trying to definitively constitute[]
(150) sociology as a science. Contrary to this sentiment, Durkheim appears to rely on already
established sciences and scientific methods. Though he is definitely founding something new,
Durkheim fundamentally relies on the methods of traditional science to give sociology credibility
within the scientific community and beyond. One of the most obvious way Durkheim does this is
through his use of heightened and scientific language. He describes sociological principles as being
empirical postulate[s], the product[s] of a legitimate induction (Durkheim 149), and claims that one of
the key characteristics of sociology is that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In showing the similarities between the two sciences Durkheim necessarily implies that sociology is as
legitimate of a science as biology. In Chapter III, Rules for the Distinction of the Normal from the
Pathological (144) Durkheim focusses on establishing the differences between what is normal and
what is pathological in sociology by discussing how health and sickness are determined within the
biological sphere. Every sociological phenomenon, just as every biological phenomenon, although
staying essentially unchanged, can assume a different form for each particular case (147), therefor
making every sociological phenomenon as real and as scientific as every biological phenomenon. This
comparison also serves to separate sociology from philosophy, a distinction which Durkheim
considers to be the first characteristic[] of the sociological method

Bus Stop By William Inge
The visual that a play presents is a dominating factor in the quest to invite an audience member into a
world of which they feel a part. In a play such as Bus Stop by William Inge, this is especially
important because Grace s Diner plays a primary role in the storytelling. Inge s use of the iconic
American diner to tell his story is ingenious. Simply setting eyes on the set inevitably evokes pleasant
feelings of familiarity and comfort in the minds of most audience members. A diner is a place where
people gather; a place where individuals from different backgrounds share a similar experience. Inge
crafted his characters meticulously in order to create contrast, conflict, and chemistry that would drive
the plot through the forced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would be made of wood with a plastic counter top. It would feature the meager remains of a chipped

chairs would not match. There would be two or three different types of chairs dispersed among the 3
tables.
Two badly shaded light bulbs would hang from the ceiling, creating the illusion that they are the only
light source, however if this were actually the case, the lighting would prove insufficient for the
audience to see the action on stage without straining their eyes. Therefore, most of the light would be
generated from the lighting system in the theatre. It is imperative that the contrast between the diner
and the harsh weather outside be evident from the start. This can be accomplished by presenting the
windows piled with snow on the outside, almost to the top of the windows, as if a snow plow had
pushed the snow up against them. The tops of the windows would appear to be covered in frost. This
visual would provide a realistic and budget friendly means of establishing the weather, because it
would not be necessary to find technology to create an ongoing blizzard outside. Wind sounds with
controllable velocity would contribute heavily to this. The warm colored lighting in the diner, as well

Plato s Republic
In Plato s Republic, Socrates goes to great lengths to explain and differentiate between the ideas of
opinion and knowledge. Throughout society, most common men are lovers of sights and sounds.
Lovers of sights and sounds like beautiful sounds, colors, shapes, and everything fashioned out of
them, but their thought is unable to see and embrace the nature of the beautiful itself (Republic 476b).
The few who do recognize the beautiful itself are followers of the sight of truth, the philosophers.
Knowledge is based on what is, or truths. The only established truths are the forms. The forms
represent true, eternal, unchanging, or facts. Knowledge stems from the idea of forms. One who has
knowledge must understand the forms. Only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The discussion goes on to conclude that justice gives benefits to friends and does harm to enemies
(332d). Again, Socrates swiftly refutes this definition by stating that a man does not always know who
are his real friends and enemies. Both of these ideas of justice display relativity and therefore they fail
as definitions. A variety of situations can easily disprove any classification of justice displaying such
relativity. Exceptions will always exist. Glaucon and Adeimantus decide to take a different path in
trying to understand justice. He develops three classes of goods: things desired only for their
consequences, things desired for their own sake, and things desired both for their consequences and
their own sake. When prompted by the brothers, Socrates places justice in the highest class, stating
that justice should be valued for both itself and its consequences (357a – 358a). This supports the idea
of justice as a non relative concept. As a form of knowledge, justice simply is. Likewise, justice
should be valued simply for the fact that it is justice. Justice itself is good, and in addition those who
observe justice will be rewarded.
However, the brothers point out that most people do not agree with this classification of

Dante Inferno Essay
Dante Alighieri was a major Italian poet born in Florence, Italy in 1265, around the Middle Ages.
Although he wrote other works, none were as notable as the Divine Comedy, the most illustrious work
of all medieval European literature. This epic dives into Dante s journey through hell, purgatory, and
paradise. The various religious and political figures, mythological references, as well as biblical
references, all play a role in the poet s comprehensive analysis of the turmoil Florence was facing in
the Middle Ages. In Dante s Inferno, the poet spawns his own form of punishment of the heinous
conduct that was spurning in his time period. Dante s inspiration for this epic stemmed from being
exiled from Florence. As he was exiled, he commented on the corruptness in Italy, which produced
Dante s allegory Inferno. Using a biographical lens, we can see the the influence of his life in this
work. In Dante s Inferno, Dante s background plays a prominent role in how he illustrates politics in
Hell. He incorporates the history of the Church during the 1300s.The poet illustrates the venal
behaviors of both religious figures, and the Catholic Church in its entirety. Dante s resentment towards
the church is primarily due to the corruption that the church displayed during his time period, his heart
overflows with the wrath he feels against those who corrupt the things of God (Dante 152). The
ordeals during that time period influenced him to write the Inferno as a forewarning towards

Analyzing Propaganda In World War I
Analyzing Propaganda Propaganda, a type of writing that makes you want to support people, causes,
or things, has always been a form of persuasion to lure people to a cause. Propaganda uses certain
techniques to spark feelings or emotions that make you feel a certain way toward a person, group,
object, or cause. In World War One, or the Great War, propaganda was used to make people want to
join the war, support the war by bonds, or do little deeds to help the people working hard out there.
Propaganda was a useful tool used by the government and media when the Allies and the Central
Powers were using total war on each other when people started having second thoughts about the war.
Two propaganda posters from the Great War are the British ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Lady Liberty is a fine example by showing a woman flying your country s flag, while shouting

Great nation great. Even the British poster inspires pride at the fact that when you come back, you ll
come home to a happy family just waiting to hear about your heroic efforts and strifes. That s an
example of a reward for your support. Even though propaganda sometimes gives out false information
or leads you to believe something false, it is a fantastic way to rouse up the feelings of the people and

Teaching Alternative Behavior
DeRosa, Roane, Doyle and McCarthy conducted a 2013 study on the use of alternative behaviors to
target different behaviors within the same response class. Swearing, talking out and yelling can all be
considered part of the same response class that are used as a method to gain attention from others.
Through the use of differential reinforcement, the students can be taught to produce more appropriate
methods of obtaining the desired responses. According to DeRosa, et al (2013), this method of
teaching alternative responding has been proven effective in decreasing the likelihood of more severe
behaviors from occurring. In this study, the alternative behavior was prompted by the use of a visual
cue, which was a red card being placed on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Parable Of The Sower And The Seed
The Parable of the Sower and the Seed
In Luke 8:4 15, Jesus tells us the Parable of the Sower and the Seed. This parable is about how the
sower spread the seeds on different parts of the land and they each went through a different path of
life. The paths represent the different responses from the followers of God, the seeds represent the
Word of God, and the sower represents a preacher. This Parable basically explains how different kinds
of people respond to the Word of God. Some of the seeds fell into the road, and never got the chance
to grow. This is because they were stepped on by humans and eaten by birds. This represents the
people who listen to the Word of God, but don t receive it. These people will never grow to be

it keeps you in check with your faith to make sure that you are still on the right path with God.
Teaching on Prayer
Prayer is essential to our relationship with God. Prayer is ultimately our response to God s invitation.
There are five types of prayer which are blessing and adoration (acknowledging that God is the source
of everything in our lives), petition(asking for forgiveness), intercession (praying for others),
thanksgiving(thanking God for everything we have in life), and praise(acknowledging God because
HE IS).
In Luke 11:1 13, Jesus is asked by the disciples to to teach them how to pray. So Jesus talks about a
parable about prayer, and some sayings about prayer. He tells a story about asking a friend for loaves
of bread, and if they don t answer you because your friendship isn t strong enough for them to do you
that favor, then they will do it because you are bold. (Persistence is key). This is also saying that when
you need something something from God you can always pray to Him and ask for it, and you will get
an answer, Everyone who asks will receive (Luke 11:10).
This excerpt is also saying how if children ask for something we will give them something what they
ask for, not something mean or irrelevant. It says, If your children ask for[ a fish, which of you would

Analysis Of The Genocidal Killer In The Mirror
In the article, The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Crispin Sartwell focuses more on power and is
concerned with evil. Sartwell states that whether you believe you are among the evil people or not,
you are deeply malicious or a moral hero or just profoundly self deluded. He continues to point out the
timeline of all genocidal events that took place over 500 years, however, he doesn t list all of the
genocidal events during the current timeline. Theodore Dalrymple, the writer of Just Do What the
Pilot Tells You , argues that some people think a determined opposition to authority is principled and
romantic . However, Dalrymple maintains that in his experience as a doctor, people who do not obey
authority most of the time have unsuccessful relationships and a tumultuous life. He also emphasizes
this by asking a lady on an airplane if she believed in authority, she states that she disagrees and that
authority is restraining. He then challenges her by asking if it would be all right if he went to the pilot
and asked if he could fly the plane. The lady refuses and states that he does not have the training to fly
an aircraft. At this point, Dalrymple predicaments that we gave the pilot authority to fly the aircraft
through his training.
In The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Sartwell states that no problem is as profound and no evil as
prevalent as state power, but that furthermore, we all have the decisions to be deeply evil and that no
one should consider oneself too intelligent, humane, or pure. State power isn t evil because we need
laws and regulations to maintain civilization. Sometimes, authority feels as if they are above the laws
because of the status in society. Sartwell then asks, Are you a moral hero? He then points at Difference
in authority. This would be the state, the experts under normal situations. He also points out, Do you
believe what the authorities tell you just because they are authorities? Although it is possible to see the
authorities side before the person decides to follow their orders, however, this could lead to chaos. In
contrast, Just Do What the Pilot Tells You primarily focuses on the danger contained in blind
obedience. Dalrymple looks at Milgram s experiment

Good communication skills are imperative for organizations to carry out in an attempt to maintain
outstanding performance from employees and management. Every workplace is unique in terms of
their diversity profile therefore, is it vital for organization to create and execute creative
communication methodologies that will enable organizations to develop a community rather than just

Secondly, building and maintaining effective teams is a time consuming and sensitive process
particularly in business. Research shows there are a number of key reasons why team building fails...
They include the inability of the team or the organization to establish clear goals... the inability by the
team to clearly define its own roles within the team, and poor leadership of the team or the
organization (Wildblood, 2005). FACS Group Inc is an organization that is structured on team
building and working as a team. For example, the management team or leaders work on three different
levels. First, a group of associates are assigned, as a team, to a supervisor. Secondly, each supervisor
along with his or her teams is managed under an assigned manager. Lastly, each management team
reports to the director of the department. Through this process, effective team building and
interpersonal communication, allows FACS Group Inc the opportunity to further develop and become
more competitive. In addition, FACS Group Inc collectively intentionally create team based structures
which require individuals to be more adaptable and form or re form work relationships quickly and
smoothly (Prager, 1999).
The methodology of effective team building is best explained through organizational models,
communication and result oriented processes. For example, organizations my chose to use different

These systems are typically used by first level supervisors. Generally, such reports focus on past and
present activities, rather than projecting future performance. To prevent information overload, reports
may be automatically sent only under exceptional circumstances or at the specific request of a

EXECUTIVE INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Executive information systems make a variety of critical information readily available in a highly
summarized and convenient form, typically via a graphical digital dashboard. Senior managers
characteristically employ many informal sources of information, however, so that formal,
computerized information systems are only of partial assistance. Nevertheless, this assistance is
important for the chief executive officer, senior and executive vice presidents, and the board of
directors to monitor the performance of the company, assess the business environment, and develop
strategic directions for the future. In particular, these executives need to compare their organization s
performance with that of its competitors and investigate general economic trends in regions or
countries. Often individualized and relying on multiple media formats, executive information systems
give their users an opportunity to drill down from summary information to increasingly focused
details.
Describe an organization of your choice. You will use this organization as you focus on the concept of
information systems.

The Impact On Technology And The Future Of Technology
Technology is said to be taking over the world as we know it, and will soon whip out paper in its
entirety. Technology is quick growing with ample routes, while paper has vast history, with little room
for improvement. With all of the efforts to eliminate paper, it will always find a way to continue with a
prominent meaning in current times.
In China during the early years of 100 BC, Ts ai Lun invented paper by basing his ideas on bark cloth
and he did this by, mixing finely chopped mulberry bark and hemp rags with water, mashing it flat,
and then pressing out the water and letting it dry in the sun, (Carr). In those times, Buddhist monks
used paper for a mass production of prayers to present to the population. With the aid of Han Dynasty
emperor, Ho Ti, and his government officials, Ts ai Lun was the first to begin a industry of paper
making. As the first known attempts of making paper roughly 2,000 years ago, computer like
technology began in a more complex fashion.
With previous attempts and ideas, in 1822, computer pioneer, Charles Babbage was able to design the
first automatic computing engine; however, Babbage was unable to build it himself (The Babbage
Engine ). His machine was composed of a model of his early difference engine a brass calculating
machine capable of tabulating higher order polynomial functions alongside a silver automaton in the

Uncontacted Tribe Essay
Uncontacted tribes should be left alone to continue what they have been doing for the past thousands
of years. The tribes have flourished for a very long time, except for when they come in contact with
the outside world. They are being introduced to new dangers that have wiped out entire tribes at once.
The tribes face these dangers: the diseases brought to them by the people of the outside world, the
government and loggers wanting to drive through their lands and destroy their home, and the fears of
the people who don t care if they all end up dead.
In the first place, the uncontacted tribes are facing new diseases that are being brought to them. A tribe

The loggers are an immediate threat because they could come through and destroy their homes in an
instant, but the other fear is the Congress. With them wanting to make budget cuts on protecting these
tribes, would mean that they aren t really protected by the government anymore. Provided that, the
tribes need the government to not make budget cuts and to make laws to keep the loggers out of their
land. If this doesn t happen, these indigenous tribes will slowly be lost in the past.
By the same token, uncontacted tribes have to fear the cartels coming through and wiping them out.
The drug cartels who are running throughout Peru and Brazil, don t care about killing the tribesman.
The tribes people can t leave their village because it s even more of a risk than just staying in their
home. Fear is driving some of them out as well though in these cases they present themselves openly
and seek help. Drug runners throughout Peru and Brazil think nothing of killing tribal people who get
in their way (Kluger). The people in the tribe also have tried to keep the outsiders out of their territory
but not putting them in harm s way. The people fired arrows at the helicopter. They re messages.
Those arrows mean leave us in peace, do not disturb (Vaughan). The people in theses tribes have
really no option anymore on what to do. They can leave and face the outside world and the humans
out there, or they can stay in their homes and try to defend themselves when the cartels come

This has allowed the She Runs campaign to be successful in securing more active participants in the

explains, If you have a body, you are an athlete (Nike, 2013). The She Runs campaign is in line with
this mission statement, as they encourage all types of women to get involved and inspire them to
discover their own athletic potential. This motivates women to consider themselves as athletic,
modifying their self schema and therefore shaping their behaviours, perceptions and motivations in
favour of the Nike brand.
Social Psychology, Culture and Attitudes
Nike identified that women have a tendency towards self handicapping behaviour. Women perceive
running in groups as competitive and intimidating, leaving them to overcome running fears and goals
in isolation (AdNewsAus 2013). This is greatly contrasted to the female stereotype and inclination to
discuss and partake in shared experiences (MarketingMag 2013). Nike recognised this behaviour and
turned it into an opportunity through the formation of the She Runs community. Due to the need of
belonging, women have conformed to the actions of those in their reference group both on and offline
in the campaign. Women are connected to those that share their aspirations, beliefs, attitudes and their
ideal self . This community continues to grow due to conformity and how individuals match

How To Modernise Othello
Good morning ladies and gentlemen, and I hope you re as excited as I am to be here, to discuss with
you my new film pitch, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare s most loved classics, Othello.
Despite being written to pander to the lowest common demoniter in Elizabethan times, Shakespeare,
in our society, seems to be reserved for scholars and the well educated, with its use of language
lowering it s accessibilty and providing us with a barrier to enjoyment , making it relatively obsolete
in our times.
Modernising Othello provides an opportunity to transform the play into an understandable and
relevant story, whilst preserving the themes, values and attitudes portrayed in the original, however,
manipulating them to resonate with a modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting,
reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in
every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and
novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving
the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem.
My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant
questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the
metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him
come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers
wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours, Ichabod,
Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the families wealth
and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he would support
wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God that he questions
so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak havoc, coaxing Oliver
into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring between Charles and
Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder

The Appropriate Court For This Lawsuit
The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations
include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the
plaintiff and defendant in a case. Specific to corporations, personal jurisdiction only applies in the
state in which the company does business, is incorporated and has it principle office. In Margolin s
suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of
New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this
state.
Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a
specific topic. Although restrictive in its ability to hear cases based on the topic, subject matter
jurisdiction can specialize in a specific case type. Courts such as tax, federal claims and bankruptcy
are examples courts which have subject matter jurisdiction.
In reference to the case study, subject matter jurisdiction could possibly apply. Since Margolin suit
claims negligence on the parts of Novelty Now and Funny Faces for using PYR in their product the
case could be heard in a federal claims court. The violation of FDA regulations makes the case a
stronger candidate for this type of venue.
Minimum contact establishes an appropriateness for one state to assert its jurisdiction on a person or
business in another state. When evaluating the facts of the case presented, it

In recent years, environmental sustainability has risen to become an everyday concern. The impact of
the current drought and extreme weather events such as Cyclone Larry on Australian fresh produce
supplies has brought into focus the effects that climate change will have on our business. Paying
attention to sustainability is about future proofing our business.
It s about leadership.
We recognise that Woolworths can take a more prominent role in the debates around sustainability. It
is fair to say that Australian and New Zealand retailers have lagged behind companies in the United
Kingdom and Europe. So we are committed not just to contributing to the debate but to taking
specific, measurable actions to improve our performance. By virtue of our size, scale, and the
complexity of our business, Woolworths is a significant player in the Australian and New Zealand
economies. With that profile comes not only a responsibility to understand and manage our impacts,
but also a tremendous opportunity to achieve lasting and beneficial change that extends beyond our
own operations. We aim to move to a leadership position on sustainability.
It s about listening.
As our knowledge of the way in which human societies impact on the natural world develops, society
s expectations of corporate conduct have evolved. Quite rightly, our stakeholders expect us to consider
the broader, long term implications of our operations as a part of our decision making processes.

Dr. Seuss Instruments
The synopsis of the process of the Dr. Seuss theme instrument. The design of our project was based
upon the instruments seen in the Dr. Seuss novels. The instrument is multi colored and similar to the
color scheme found on the cover of the book, Oh, the Places You ll Go. The shape and unique
structure are also attributed to many distinctive instruments found in Dr. Seuss stories. We decided to
have two mouthpieces available, so two people can play the instrument at the same time and the
overall structure characterizes the disproportionate instruments seen in the books. Going with the
theme, the sound created is also very interesting. When assembling the instrument, we had stuck wax
paper between the parts of the pipe, creating a kazoo like sound. We had chosen to use PVC pipes in
order to lock in the sound, leaving no air to escape, and funnels in order to amplify the sound being
given off. Before our final design, there had happened to be another idea we were going for. The
design had included a chamber that would contain soft air gun pellets or bb gun pellets that were
capped off by 3D printed discs, covering each end of the side chambers. These discs would have holes
that would allow air to enter the chamber, move the pellets around and create a rattle sound ... Show

History
The amphora was made around 575 550 BC, during the Archaic Period and the tyranny of Peisistratus

Context
The word amphora derives from the Greek amphi (on both sides) and phoros (carrier). They are
terracotta vases of variable size with two vertical handles, by which they are carried on both sides,
designed for the transport and storage of liquids (principally olive oil and wine). They could be
painted on their bellies (as in this case).
A large portion of Athenian pottery was produced by the Group of Haimon and the Leafless Group,[1]
and was carried thence to ports around the Mediterranean. The rest was produced for local use,
specifically mixing, storing and transporting wine and oil.
Attic pottery was valued in the sanctuaries of the Etruscans, where they had additional roles: cultic
ritual, banqueting and votive offerings. These vases were bought specially for a given occasion and
signified a dedication to a divinity. Generally, Attic cups were common while amphorae were rare.

Is The Contemporary Crisis Participation For Traditional...
A crisis in participation can be defined as a serious situation in which there has been a drop in, or lack
of citizens engaging in political activities designed to influence government decision making. In this
essay, I will demonstrate how there is a contemporary crisis in participation in traditional forms of
political participation. This is however more significant amongst young and unskilled groups. I will
show how there is an increase in participation in more informal methods of participation as social
norms evolve, and how this reduces the extent to which there is a crisis.
There is a trend of falling electoral turnout in a variety of established democracies. The percentage
turnout at UK General Elections as a proportion of the electorate has declined from 72.8% in 1945 to
66.1% in 2015. (UK Political Info) In April 2011, parliamentary registers were 82.3% complete,
compared to 1950s and 60s registers which were found to be 96% complete. (Electoral Commission,
2011) This highlights an even more significant crisis in participation as the register is shrinking along
with the percentage of the register which is voting. The decline in EU average turnout in European
Parliamentary elections from 61.99% in 1979 to 42.61% in 2014 (UK Political Info) shows how there
is a serious crisis in participation as this is at such a low level, the European Parliament cannot be
sufficiently held to account. This also emphasises the widespread nature of the crisis across many

The Auteur Theory In The 1960s
Auteur theory supports the director as a singular author of a film: this is a term that essentially means,
author comparable to a writer that is an author of a novel. Andrew Sarris, who is a film critic from the
US states, The strong director imposes his own personality on a film; the weak director allows the
personalities of others to run rampant. (Sarris, 1968) This suggests that a good director leaves his/her
personal signature or mark on his artwork, a distinct style or a constant theme throughout that will be
seen as unique in the film community. This could be achieved through the consistent use of similar
subject matter, related themes, repeated cast or a reoccurring visual and aesthetic style.

Colour palette
The Colour palettes in Anderson s films are significant as it can be used to recognise his films from
the rest. The frequent use of vibrant colours that occasionally clash with each other (yellow and
orange) constructs a theatre like a backdrop, eliminating it from the current period. It is no surprise
Anderson is passionate about the 50s/60s from his choice of props and complex theatre like set
designs, which isn t something we see in films today. An example would be in his film The Life

Collaborating
For many years, Anderson has gathered a great collaborative group of actors/actresses, which have
recurred in his past films. Casts, such as Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum etc. This allows
Anderson to have great control over his work due to the cast being familiar with his directing style and
narratives. Also, he chooses to work with the same DOP (Robert Yeoman) and hasn t changed since.
Since Yeoman already recognises the director s preferences, this also allows the independence to

All Biofuels Are Not Created Equal by David Tilman and...
All Biofuels Are Not Created Equal is a very informative article that everyone should be aware of. The
authors of this article show how biofuels can be made to benefit Earth. Our ecological footprint is so
big that everyone requires 2.5 Earths to maintain the same lifestyle. What does this reveal? It reveals
that Earth s resources are being diminished. This means that the world needs to do something to
prevent this so Earth can last for future generations. The way that biofuels are being made is not very
effective in helping this problem. This is because it either requires deforestation or the burning of
fossil fuels, which the world is trying to stop. Instead of using corn or sugar cane as ethanol,
alternative crops should be used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The great thing about using alternative crops is that they can be grown on less fertile land; such as
land that has been depleted of most of its nutrients from years of farming. The authors participated in
an experiment where they explored the amount of bioenergy that could be produced by planting 18
different native prairie plants on infertile soil. We found, on this highly degraded land, that the plots
planted with mixtures of many native prairie perennial species yielded 238 percent more bioenergy
than those planted with single species (Tilman, Hill). This led them to the conclusion that having high
plant diversity leads to high productivity. These plants also required very little fertilizer. This
experiment was very beneficial because it showed them a new way to make ethanol that is much more
efficient than the way it is currently being made. Using the alternative crops method to make ethanol
also allows them to harvest the crops year after year, since the crops can grow on infertile land.
Making ethanol out of corn, which is what everyone is using now, is not very efficient. But because of
how corn ethanol currently is made, only about 20 percent of each gallon is new energy (Tilman, Hill).
This is because fossil fuels are being burned to harvest the corn, and then to turn the corn into ethanol
in refineries. This method saves very little energy but creates more

Lean Six Sigma And Benchmarking
Quality is a measure of excellence that conforms to requirements and free from defects in a service or
product and which meets the standards for a customer. Benchmarking is a method to compare the key
metrics of their day to day operation with other companies in the same industry (Marksberry, 2011).
This helps the companies to identify how they are performing, how they can improve their processes

Alfred Wegener s theory about the continents moving was continental drift. He based his argument
over the observation the many of the coastlines on opposite sides of the ocean fit together. This

this by hypothesizing that a very long time ago all of Earth s continents were joined and made one

A Review of the Effects of Steroid Hormones and Neuropeptides on Social Emotional Behavior
Bos, Peter A., Panksepp, Jaak, Bluthé, Rose Marie, van Honk, Jack (2011). Acute effects of steroid
hormones and neuropeptides on human social emotional behavior: A review of single administration
studies. Frontiers in Neuroendocrinology 33 (2012) 17 35.
1. Introduction/Background Information The discovery of hormones and their function has been
relatively recent. The term was first coined by Professor Earnest Starling in 1905. He derived the word
from the Greek meaning to arouse or excite. However, the idea of the role hormones could be traced

on human conduct has yet to be fully comprehended.
2. Goals of the study The main goal of this study was to review all of the placebo controlled single

oxytocin and vasopressin, and the steroids testosterone and estradiol. This research gives insight into
the underlying neural mechanisms and also demonstrates substantial hormonal control over human
behavior. After reviewing and discussing the placebo controlled studies, they proposed a theoretical
model that synthesized detailed knowledge of neuroendocrinology of social emotional behavior in
animals, as well as the recently gained data on humans. The study of emotional and behavioral
disorders have become more popular in the last twenty years. Characteristics of these irregularities
include: learning disabilities that are not explainable by either sensory, health, or intellectual factors;
persistently inappropriate feelings and conduct; and/or chronic unhappiness or depression (gadoe.org).
The authors of this study thoroughly analyzed the underlying neural mechanisms of supplemental
hormones and how they affect participants as opposed to using a placebo. Research into human
behavior as it relates to neuroendocrinology will be crucial to future generations and their
interrelations.

  • 2. Glorification Of Nature In Rime Of The Ancient Mariner The power and glorification of nature and how it can be a spiritual source of renewal for individuals is highlighted through the works of artists of the Romantic period. Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Samuel Coleridge and Blueback by Tim Winton both display the influences that nature can have on an individual, spiritually and emotionally, and presents a clearer understanding of the natural world. The poem by Samuel Coleridge, Rime of the Ancient Mariner depicts a strong belief and interest in nature and how the natural world can be a place where God can be found. The contrast between the language of the quotes slimy things and O happy living things demonstrates this change in perspective as the narrator realises the beauty of nature. During his punishment, the Mariner was able to see the real beauty of nature and as a result, he had the ability to rejoice and pray about what he was seeing. By recognising the elegance in the environment that surrounded him, it enabled the Mariner to be free from his imprisonment. Like the belief in God, the Mariner first feared but finally loved the natural elements of the world. Throughout the journey, the wonder and beauty of nature and how it can be a spiritual finding is brought into focus. Through the use of a metaphor in the quote As if it had been a Christian soul, we hailed it in God s name. it reveals that the albatross was seen as a connection to God. The albatross was seen as a good omen and it was the first sign of life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Firearms Legislation across the States and its... The first question to be considered in this paper is the problem of similarity of firearms legislation across the states and its correspondence with the federal legislation. The hypothesis is that, no matter how many acts were enacted by the local governments in addition to the federal legislation, the general idea of the basic federal legislation on this matter has been preserved, and there are no dramatic changes in the main approaches. The second question arises whether the diversity of firearms legislation across the states is a consequence of different rates of gun violence, the variations in demographics and cultural backgrounds, or the political influences and conventional approaches to this problem. The hypothesis of the study is that no increase in gun violence within separate states with stricter or laxer firearms legislation has been even observed, so there is no direct correlation between gun violence rates and the adoption of new laws regulating the gun ownership and sale. The third research question relates to the most important reasons of such diversity in the firearms legislation amid the states and localities. It relates to the historical, cultural, and political backgrounds of different states. The most important effect on this diversity is produced by the political views supported in separate states, and it is unlikely that cultural and social backgrounds, demographic factors, or the racial content of the population have sufficient influences. ... • 5. Theories Of Durkheim Émile Durkheim is widely considered to be one of the founders of the science of sociology. Towards the end of his book, The Rules of Sociological Method, he writes that a science cannot be considered definitively constituted until it has succeeded in establishing its own independent status (150), a statement that strongly suggests that with this work Durkheim is trying to definitively constitute[] (150) sociology as a science. Contrary to this sentiment, Durkheim appears to rely on already established sciences and scientific methods. Though he is definitely founding something new, Durkheim fundamentally relies on the methods of traditional science to give sociology credibility within the scientific community and beyond. One of the most obvious way Durkheim does this is through his use of heightened and scientific language. He describes sociological principles as being empirical postulate[s], the product[s] of a legitimate induction (Durkheim 149), and claims that one of the key characteristics of sociology is that it ... Every sociological phenomenon, just as every biological phenomenon, although staying essentially unchanged, can assume a different form for each particular case (147), therefor making every sociological phenomenon as real and as scientific as every biological phenomenon. In a play such as Bus Stop by William Inge, this is especially important because Grace s Diner plays a primary role in the storytelling. Inge s use of the iconic American diner to tell his story is ingenious. Simply setting eyes on the set inevitably evokes pleasant feelings of familiarity and comfort in the minds of most audience members. A diner is a place where people gather; a place where individuals from different backgrounds share a similar experience. Therefore, most of the light would be generated from the lighting system in the theatre. It is imperative that the contrast between the diner and the harsh weather outside be evident from the start. This can be accomplished by presenting the windows piled with snow on the outside, almost to the top of the windows, as if a snow plow had pushed the snow up against them. The tops of the windows would appear to be covered in frost. Throughout society, most common men are lovers of sights and sounds. Lovers of sights and sounds like beautiful sounds, colors, shapes, and everything fashioned out of them, but their thought is unable to see and embrace the nature of the beautiful itself (Republic 476b). The few who do recognize the beautiful itself are followers of the sight of truth, the philosophers. Knowledge is based on what is, or truths. The only established truths are the forms. The forms represent true, eternal, unchanging, or facts. Knowledge stems from the idea of forms. One who has knowledge must understand the forms. Only a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The discussion goes on to conclude that justice gives benefits to friends and does harm to enemies (332d). Again, Socrates swiftly refutes this definition by stating that a man does not always know who are his real friends and enemies. Both of these ideas of justice display relativity and therefore they fail as definitions. A variety of situations can easily disprove any classification of justice displaying such relativity. Exceptions will always exist. Glaucon and Adeimantus decide to take a different path in trying to understand justice. He develops three classes of goods: things desired only for their consequences, things desired for their own sake, and things desired both for their consequences and their own sake. When prompted by the brothers, Socrates places justice in the highest class, stating that justice should be valued for both itself and its consequences (357a – 358a). This supports the idea of justice as a non relative concept. As a form of knowledge, justice simply is. Likewise, justice should be valued simply for the fact that it is justice. Justice itself is good, and in addition those who observe justice will be rewarded. However, the brothers point out that most people do not agree with this classification of ... In conclusion I think the Parable of the Sower and the Seed is an extremely important parable, because it keeps you in check with your faith to make sure that you are still on the right path with God. Teaching on Prayer Prayer is essential to our relationship with God. Prayer is ultimately our response to God s invitation. There are five types of prayer which are blessing and adoration (acknowledging that God is the source of everything in our lives), petition(asking for forgiveness), intercession (praying for others), thanksgiving(thanking God for everything we have in life), and praise(acknowledging God because HE IS). In Luke 11:1 13, Jesus is asked by the disciples to to teach them how to pray. So Jesus talks about a parable about prayer, and some sayings about prayer. He tells a story about asking a friend for loaves of bread, and if they don t answer you because your friendship isn t strong enough for them to do you that favor, then they will do it because you are bold. (Persistence is key). This is also saying that when you need something something from God you can always pray to Him and ask for it, and you will get an answer, Everyone who asks will receive (Luke 11:10). • 14. Analysis Of The Genocidal Killer In The Mirror In the article, The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Crispin Sartwell focuses more on power and is concerned with evil. Sartwell states that whether you believe you are among the evil people or not, you are deeply malicious or a moral hero or just profoundly self deluded. He continues to point out the timeline of all genocidal events that took place over 500 years, however, he doesn t list all of the genocidal events during the current timeline. Theodore Dalrymple, the writer of Just Do What the Pilot Tells You , argues that some people think a determined opposition to authority is principled and romantic . However, Dalrymple maintains that in his experience as a doctor, people who do not obey authority most of the time have unsuccessful relationships and a tumultuous life. He also emphasizes this by asking a lady on an airplane if she believed in authority, she states that she disagrees and that authority is restraining. He then challenges her by asking if it would be all right if he went to the pilot and asked if he could fly the plane. The lady refuses and states that he does not have the training to fly an aircraft. At this point, Dalrymple predicaments that we gave the pilot authority to fly the aircraft through his training. In The Genocidal Killer in the Mirror, Sartwell states that no problem is as profound and no evil as prevalent as state power, but that furthermore, we all have the decisions to be deeply evil and that no one should consider oneself too intelligent, humane, or pure. State power isn t evil because we need laws and regulations to maintain civilization. Sometimes, authority feels as if they are above the laws because of the status in society. Sartwell then asks, Are you a moral hero? He then points at Difference in authority. This would be the state, the experts under normal situations. He also points out, Do you believe what the authorities tell you just because they are authorities? Although it is possible to see the authorities side before the person decides to follow their orders, however, this could lead to chaos. In contrast, Just Do What the Pilot Tells You primarily focuses on the danger contained in blind obedience. Dalrymple looks at Milgram s experiment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technology is quick growing with ample routes, while paper has vast history, with little room for improvement. With all of the efforts to eliminate paper, it will always find a way to continue with a prominent meaning in current times. In China during the early years of 100 BC, Ts ai Lun invented paper by basing his ideas on bark cloth and he did this by, mixing finely chopped mulberry bark and hemp rags with water, mashing it flat, and then pressing out the water and letting it dry in the sun, (Carr). How To Modernise Othello Good morning ladies and gentlemen, and I hope you re as excited as I am to be here, to discuss with you my new film pitch, a modern adaptation of one of Shakespeare s most loved classics, Othello. Despite being written to pander to the lowest common demoniter in Elizabethan times, Shakespeare, in our society, seems to be reserved for scholars and the well educated, with its use of language lowering it s accessibilty and providing us with a barrier to enjoyment , making it relatively obsolete in our times. Modernising Othello provides an opportunity to transform the play into an understandable and relevant story, whilst preserving the themes, values and attitudes portrayed in the original, however, manipulating them to resonate with a modern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Entitled The Treachery of Images , the film makes reference to Magritte s infamous pipe painting, reminding us that we should not necessarily believe in what we see and think, as deception lies in every nook and cranny in our lives, meaning that nothing can truly be trusted. This is a modern and novel nod to Othello, as the play itself is an adept exploration of the faces of good and evil, proving the end point that nothing, and no one, are truly what they seem. My vision re casts Othello as Oliver, a 20th century English Duke, who, despite his constant questioning of the church and it s values, is appointed as mayor of a small village, leaving the metropolitan haven of the city, and into a place where he is neither trusted nor accepted. With him come his faithful and sweet wife, Dorothea, who married him against her heavily religious fathers wishes, and his two sons, Ichabod and Charles. Whilst Oliver trusts, and supposedly favours, Ichabod, Charles is far more successful than his brother, meaning he is named sole heir of the families wealth and estate. For fair natured and trustworthy Ichabod, this would be a choice that he would support wholly, however, a changling has taken his place, a curse put upon him by the God that he questions so freely. Under the pretense of being Ichabod, the changeling begins to wreak havoc, coaxing Oliver into pyschosis and convincing him that there is something Oedipal occuring between Charles and Dorothea, and eventually causing Oliver to murder ... • 27. The Appropriate Court For This Lawsuit The appropriate court for this lawsuit depends upon several factors. Three important considerations include the following: Personal jurisdiction which allows courts to have jurisdiction over both the plaintiff and defendant in a case. Specific to corporations, personal jurisdiction only applies in the state in which the company does business, is incorporated and has it principle office. In Margolin s suit, personal jurisdiction would not apply because although the company does business in the state of New York, both Novelty Now and Funny Faces are not incorporated or have principle offices in this state. Subject matter jurisdiction allows a court the authority to only hear case that are in regards to a specific topic. Although restrictive in its ability to hear cases based on the topic, subject matter jurisdiction can specialize in a specific case type. Courts such as tax, federal claims and bankruptcy are examples courts which have subject matter jurisdiction. In reference to the case study, subject matter jurisdiction could possibly apply. Since Margolin suit claims negligence on the parts of Novelty Now and Funny Faces for using PYR in their product the case could be heard in a federal claims court. The violation of FDA regulations makes the case a stronger candidate for this type of venue. The instrument is multi colored and similar to the color scheme found on the cover of the book, Oh, the Places You ll Go. The shape and unique structure are also attributed to many distinctive instruments found in Dr. Seuss stories. We decided to have two mouthpieces available, so two people can play the instrument at the same time and the overall structure characterizes the disproportionate instruments seen in the books. Going with the theme, the sound created is also very interesting. When assembling the instrument, we had stuck wax paper between the parts of the pipe, creating a kazoo like sound. We had chosen to use PVC pipes in order to lock in the sound, leaving no air to escape, and funnels in order to amplify the sound being given off. Before our final design, there had happened to be another idea we were going for. The design had included a chamber that would contain soft air gun pellets or bb gun pellets that were capped off by 3D printed discs, covering each end of the side chambers. They could be painted on their bellies (as in this case). A large portion of Athenian pottery was produced by the Group of Haimon and the Leafless Group,[1] and was carried thence to ports around the Mediterranean. The rest was produced for local use, specifically mixing, storing and transporting wine and oil. Attic pottery was valued in the sanctuaries of the Etruscans, where they had additional roles: cultic ritual, banqueting and votive offerings. These vases were bought specially for a given occasion and signified a dedication to a divinity. Generally, Attic cups were common while amphorae were rare. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Is The Contemporary Crisis Participation For Traditional... A crisis in participation can be defined as a serious situation in which there has been a drop in, or lack of citizens engaging in political activities designed to influence government decision making. In this essay, I will demonstrate how there is a contemporary crisis in participation in traditional forms of political participation. This is however more significant amongst young and unskilled groups. I will show how there is an increase in participation in more informal methods of participation as social norms evolve, and how this reduces the extent to which there is a crisis. There is a trend of falling electoral turnout in a variety of established democracies. The percentage turnout at UK General Elections as a proportion of the electorate has declined from 72.8% in 1945 to 66.1% in 2015. (UK Political Info) In April 2011, parliamentary registers were 82.3% complete, compared to 1950s and 60s registers which were found to be 96% complete. (Electoral Commission, 2011) This highlights an even more significant crisis in participation as the register is shrinking along with the percentage of the register which is voting. The decline in EU average turnout in European Parliamentary elections from 61.99% in 1979 to 42.61% in 2014 (UK Political Info) shows how there is a serious crisis in participation as this is at such a low level, the European Parliament cannot be sufficiently held to account. The frequent use of vibrant colours that occasionally clash with each other (yellow and orange) constructs a theatre like a backdrop, eliminating it from the current period. The authors of this article show how biofuels can be made to benefit Earth. Our ecological footprint is so big that everyone requires 2.5 Earths to maintain the same lifestyle. What does this reveal? It reveals that Earth s resources are being diminished. This means that the world needs to do something to prevent this so Earth can last for future generations. The way that biofuels are being made is not very effective in helping this problem. This is because it either requires deforestation or the burning of fossil fuels, which the world is trying to stop. Instead of using corn or sugar cane as ethanol, alternative crops should be used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The great thing about using alternative crops is that they can be grown on less fertile land; such as land that has been depleted of most of its nutrients from years of farming. The authors participated in an experiment where they explored the amount of bioenergy that could be produced by planting 18 different native prairie plants on infertile soil. We found, on this highly degraded land, that the plots planted with mixtures of many native prairie perennial species yielded 238 percent more bioenergy than those planted with single species (Tilman, Hill). This led them to the conclusion that having high plant diversity leads to high productivity. These plants also required very little fertilizer. This experiment was very beneficial because it showed them a new way to make ethanol that is much more efficient than the way it is currently being made. Using the alternative crops method to make ethanol also allows them to harvest the crops year after year, since the crops can grow on infertile land. Making ethanol out of corn, which is what everyone is using now, is not very efficient. But because of how corn ethanol currently is made, only about 20 percent of each gallon is new energy (Tilman, Hill).
