Examples Of Christian Ideals In King Arthurian Literature
Christian ideals are a concept known extremely well during the time of King Arthur. When connected
to Arthurian Literature, it s commonly placed among the knights, as it is one of their morals and rules:
to be like Christ. These ideals are important because despite everything happening, it s important to
always keep God at the center.
Examples of Christian ideals are known to be present in Arthurian Literature. The Knights of the
Round Table abide by one of their rules, to follow the example of Christ. While this is an excellent
rule to abide by, it s rather ironic, in being that these knights fight in battles, while it s known that
Christ despises of conflict and war. In addition, people during this time were known to be more
Christian. This

Sponsorship And Its Associated Rights
Sponsorship and its associated rights have grown in the last three decades to create what is today, a
full time industry. Fundamental to all sporting games and associations, O Sullivan and Murphy, 1998,
give an indication into its express ride to the top of the marketing pyramid; The growth of commercial
sponsorship has been perhaps the most striking development in marketing communications over the
last two decades . As the need and competition for sponsorship has grown and developed, so too has to
the need to compete for and secure sponsorship rights (Hoek and Gendall 2002). This increase in
demand and competition gives way for the emergence of what is collectively known as Ambush
Marketing .
The first to discuss the notion of Ambush ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It will also illustrate the remedies that have been explored to combat the ambush marketing culture.
One of the most talked about and well known ambush marketing scenarios took place at the Sydney
200 Olympic Games. Ansett Australia was the official airline of the games however it was Qantas who
aligned themselves closely with numerous Olympic Athletes including Susie O Neill, Cathy Freeman
and Ian Thorpe. Three of the most talk about members of the team. Qantas developed advertisement
campaigns based around these athletes and their lead up to the Olympic Games. They also ran
Olympic Sales slashing prices for flights to and from Sydney throughout the Olympic Game period. It
was research conducted by Roy Morgan Research that found that 42% of Australians believed Qantas
to be the official airline sponsor compared to that of 15% for Ansett. Although a number of
advertisements had in the fine print that they were not the official sponsor, Qantas strategically geared
their advertisements to detract from Ansett and align that connection with themselves. Prior to the
2000 Olympics, Qantas rebranded their image and developed the tag line the Spirit of Austraila which
was reminiscent of the Sydney Olympics tagline Share the Spirit . Share the Spirit was a successful
tag line for Qantas and ensured they solidified their name in the Olympic era. Due to its nature of not
directly associated itself with the Olympics, this kind of advertising is

Causes Of Natural Disasters
Among many natural disasters in this world, there are three natural things that are responsible for
natural disasters. These three are earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanos. We humans call them Natural
Disasters because they could destroy all of us or all our homes and important things we need to
survive. Without humans, they would only be called natural events because they would not have
anything to destroy. Starting with the earthquakes, they have the potential to cause harm and injury,
cost loved ones and other people their lives. Earthquakes also have the potential to weaken the
foundation of buildings, roads, and bridges and cause them to collapse. During an earthquake, some
buildings even collapse imminently, after that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were eruptions that were similar to the ones mentioned that had the potential to cause huge
destruction and even more deaths of humans.
Earthquakes are monitored by seismometers. There are 3 websites that record and report these
earthquakes by the United States Geographical Survey s Earthquake Hazards Program. One of the
website that I use was USGS.GOV/ Yellowstone and earthquakes and volcanoes
I found that these websites apply earth science collections that are needed for land use planning or
emergency preparation choices. Sadly, these websites do not predict the earthquakes.
Next, the volcano hazards program of the United States Geographical Survey s Volcano Hazards
program helps scientists understand volcanic process and also to decrease the harmful outcomes of the
volcanic activity. The program watches active or volcanos that have the potential to be active, it asses
their toxic hazards, it answers to volcanic catastrophes, and lastly, it conducts it research on how the
volcanoes work. This website focuses on making sure we get warnings of potential volcanic hazards.
The website that was used was, http://volcano.oregonstate.edu/book/export/html/367 . This gives us a
peek at actual active volcanoes in Japan and shows the volcanoes in Japan that are dormant.
For tsunamis, the websites that give the up to date information are:

Essay about The Continuation Of Patriarchy In Our Culture
Our culture has created a social system that allows the driving forces of patriarchy to flourish.
Although many people may not be purposefully attempting to continue this system of patriarchy, we
each play a role in its survival. For many the problem is not that they are promoting patriarchy but that
they are not challenging the system. In Johnson s article Patriarchy , he is not examining whether a
patriarchal system exists in our culture but what factors are driving this system to continue. The
articles analyzed demonstrate Johnson s theory of patriarchy by exemplifying his three facets of the
patriarchal system and by recognizing the notion of the path of least resistance. Johnson argues that
patriarchy is made up of more than just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This connection with other men is important, and there is a risk of losing masculinity if a man should
choose not to participate in homosocial behavior. Even Schwyzer, a pro feminist thinker, has found
himself going along with the banter of his peers out of fear of exclusion. When relationships begin to
be formed around ideas that drive patriarchy it becomes very hard to overturn these notions. Although
not all male friendships are formed out of objectifying women, homosociality allows connections to
be made very quickly among men. This article also shows the fears of taking the path of resistance .
Men as well as women are apprehensive to go against the group. Deciding not to join in on the
homosocial behavior could result in exclusion or ridicule, and often standing your ground is not worth
that risk. The connections that are formed around this behavior are one of the many reasons patriarchy
continues in our culture. Many men are afraid to go against other men in fear of seeming feminine.
This pressure for men to appear masculine is one of the many parts that form the system of patriarchy.
Hegemonic masculinity reveals the male dominance of patriarchy. This term refers to what is
considered normal male behavior in our culture. Hegemonic masculinity is characterized by male
domination and female subordination. In Michael Messner s article Becoming 100 Percent Straight ,
he discusses male s drive to overcompensate their masculinity out of

Essay About Registering To Vote
The process for registering to vote may sound complicated since not everybody is devoted to politics.
However, registering to vote is actually not as complicated as it seems. Many people do not realize
that registering to vote brings more benefits such as to serve jury in a court and to elect the
representatives of the country. The biggest benefit it can bring is that it allows people to become
engaged in politics. To begin with, if a person is not familiar with the different methods available to

variety of resources to guide a person in the process of registering to vote. After searching a person

Legalize Euthanasia
A person has the right to life, why not death? These are two topics that are debated everyday in some
form or another. Death is something that we all will face, it is inevitable. There is no miracle cure to
fix it and to keep the subject in the dark could be considered irresponsible. Thesis End of life
discussion are to be used to talk about options available to patients as they face a terminal illness or
just old age. The options available are many; from do not resuscitate orders to palliative care. There
are a few places in the world that extend those options to physician assisted suicide (PAS) and

A patient has control over what we deem is necessary or unnecessary care or treatment. We have
control over what we want; to be kept comfortable in a hospital or at home. To have the legal right to
say enough is enough. (Jama) Having options can potentially lead to a better quality of life. Patients
were able to take the burdens off of family member by having made decisions before they were
needed, resulting a shorter and less traumatic grieving period for surviving family members. (Jama)
Having made the decision for themselves they have been able to enjoy the time they have left without
feeling like a burden to family which translates to a better quality of life for the patient. Since there are
positives with just have the options to choose where a patient wants to stay why could there not be a
similar benefit for extending the options into PAS and euthanasia. So why do we not look at the
options of physician assisted suicide? Is it just too much for the general public to deal with? This is
not a subject that everyone will be open to for discussion, but it should be an option. This is a moral
dilemma, suicide is wrong in some circles and to have a doctor assist is debated even by doctors
themselves. (Darity 2008) The American Heritage Dictionary defines suicide as the act of intentionally
killing oneself . (AM Heritage pg1287) There is a completely

California Gangs
There are approximately 1.4 million active street, prison, and outlaw gang members comprising more
than 33,500 gangs in the United States, according to the National Gang Intelligence Center of the
Federal Bureau of Investigation. Gangs are defined as a group of people who form an alliance for a
common purpose and engage in violent or criminal activity. Gang violence continues to grow in
California. It is inarguable that the gang problem has become more entrenched, over the past 25 years,
especially here locally in Porterville. There are many different gangs in California, but there is a
strong presence of hispanic gangs. During 1980 s, California street gangs were divided into Surenos
and Nortenos. Some say the North South battle started in the 1950s in a California prison, where two
prisoners fought over a pair of shoes. One inmate formed the Mexican Mafia for SureƱos, and the
other prisoner formed Nuestra Familia for NorteƱos, which is how the division was created.
The Central Valley is the dividing line for northern and southern gangs. Gangs remain the primary
distributors of drugs. Often, gang members are involved in drug sales and trafficking. Financial gain is

Most law enforcement personnel agree on a couple of key points: gangs will always be around, but the
negative impacts caused by gangs can be prevented or mitigated to some extent. However, media
reporting has a natural tendency to cover areas experiencing escalations in gang violence, sometimes

Essay on Big Bang Theory
There has been a lot of research done on the influence media can have on society, in particular the
degrading images of women that are often seen in media. Since the second wave of the women s rights
movements these images were the object of scrutiny and an easy example of how women were
viewed. In modern society where women have made many strides towards equality why are there still
instances in popular media were women are negatively depicted? Have women come as far as they
think? The popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory negatively depicts the female characters by reverting
to a binary view of gender, in which the female characters are lacking, they can be beautiful or smart
however they cannot be both.

Curricular Birds Response
How does feeing behavior change in the instance a threating noise is made, such as the call of a

Once all birds have been counted I will play the sound and note the actions of the birds (freeze or flee)
along with noting the number of birds that have left and the number that stayed at the feeder. I will
then measure the number of birds feeding over a 10 minute period (how many birds are feeding at 1
min mark, 2 min mark, 3 min mark...etc.). At the end of the 10 minute period, I will replay the sound
and repeat the process 5 more times. In addition to tallying the number of birds present I will measure
how long it took for the first bird to come back to the feeder.
I will do each condition for a total of 3 5 times (occurring once every other day), over a one hour per
day. Each trial will be 10 minutes long, with the next occurring immediately at the end of the previous
one. A total of 6 trials will be conducted per day. I will leave at least one week in between conditions
(bell vs predator call) to account for any habituation.
I will compare all trails with one another to see if there are any differences. I will also compare the
responses of birds in a natural woodland setting to that of birds in a more urban setting. Then I will
use both conditions to see if the birds were responding to just the presentation of a loud sound, or were
responding to the threating call, giving me the ability to determine if the birds can make a

Black Power Mixtape Analysis
The Black Power Mixtape follows momentous events between 1965 and 1975. It is directed by two
Swedish directors, and their nationality is very important for the layout of the film. The film takes
place during the Civil Rights Movement, and included leaders such as Stokely Carmichael, Angela
Davis, Malcolm X, and Medgar Evers. This was also during the time of the Vietnam War, whom
Sweden saw a useless war. The heads of this country were the Nixon Administration, and Lyndon
Johnson s administration. Furthermore, The Black Power Mixtape included world renowned artists
such as Erykah Badu and Talib Kweli. I had no clue they were so educated on these matters. Also, the
author of our classes textbook, Robin Kelley, spoke. The compilation of information and video

up in school, no one ever taught me any other perspective on this part of American history. There s no

help the viewer understand specifically how the Japanese don t understand Confucianism. To be more
specific in Confucianism there is a value called RƩn (Chinese: 仁), ( Confucianism ) this value simply
states treat other s how you would want to be treated.
Bushido or in other words way of the warrior plays a huge role in how this film is displayed and
shown. Now I understand that the word Bushido specifically applies to Samurai. But there are still
some similarities to how Master IP did things compared to a Samurai, we will also look at how
Bushido affected the Japanese in this film. Now Master IP demonstrates all of the 8 virtues of Bushido
( The Bushido Code: The Eight Virtues of the Samurai ) throughout this film, but I have decided to
focus on just 2. Benevolence or Mercy ( The Bushido Code: The Eight Virtues of the Samurai ) and
Character and Self Control ( The Bushido Code: The Eight Virtues of the Samurai ). The Bushido
Code: The Eight Virtues of the Samurai define benevolence/mercy as A man with the power to
command and kill was expected to demonstrate equally extraordinary powers of benevolence, as well
they define character/self control as What s right is right, and what s wrong is wrong... not

Persuasive Essay Holidays
Thanksgiving is the holiday for family gatherings. Air travel analysts have coined it the most traveled
holiday of the year. People may head to the mountains or the beaches at christmas but gathering at
grandma s for that coveted feast of thanks is high on the family priority list. But not all is as blissful as
the famous Norman Rockwell portrayed. Family can equal stress, lots of stress. All that traveling
makes for weary, cranky guests. Then there is the overcrowded accommodations, unequal division of
chores and the dreadful family gossip. So many aspects of this holiday can leave one overwhelmed
and contemplating the true meaning of giving thanks.
Packing for the holidays away from home can be a chore within itself. Many things need to be taken
into consideration. One needs to be informed of the weather conditions to assure proper attire. Many
times there are also children and others in the family that need assistance with this. Also you need to
consider if you will be spending a lot of time outdoors. If your family plans a black friday shopping
trip you could find yourself in long lines out in the cold morning air. Perhaps Grandma will be sending
you out to fetch the christmas tree or assist in the delightful chore of outdoor holiday house
decorating. In any case, obviously a great deal of thought needs to go into the packing process.
Next comes the dreaded chore of carrying the luggage and family to ever pleasant airport. The day is
filled with all the wonderful

My Teacher As A Good Teacher
When my teacher assigned our new essay, I felt as this one might be a bit of a struggle. I was too busy
worrying about my SAT and I kept having second thoughts about what I planned to do. Then, I
remembered how terrible my school teachers were and decided why not just write about that.
Throughout my school life I ve encountered many teachers who I would consider to be bad teachers. I
find it funny how some people only become teachers, so they can get an easy paying job. A bad
teacher is someone who assigns work and sits back in their desk, one who assigns the same type of
assignment, and one who gives up because he or she can t get the students to calm down. A teacher
who just sits in his or her desk is one critical example of a bad teacher. My eight grade math teacher
would assign us work, show us one or two examples and sit back in her desk. Often times the warm up
would be what the assignment would be over, but it was only the basics. Another one of my teachers
was my sixth grade English teacher. This teacher was even worse; all we did in class was sit and
sometimes go over simple comprehension skills. On most days he would sit on his desk and stay on
his Blackberry playing Tetris, or Bridge Breaker. I m not sure how some teachers manage to keep their
job when they behave like this. Still, I was glad I passed my Taks Test that year. I thought this would
be the last of my bad teacher s experiences, but it went on all the way to high school. Quitting is

Address The Chosen Target For The Focus Learner
a. Why was it necessary to address the chosen target for the focus learner? Cite evidence and
specifically reference your IEP at a Glance and your RIOT/ICEL Assessment to support your decision.
[As Mentioned in the RIOT ICEL, MB struggles to turn in homework, and often turns in incomplete
assignments or assignments without a name; because of this, MB s learning target is to turn in
homework, complete and on time. In order to help her do this, she will be filling out a daily checklist
reminding her to check for assignments before leaving school, put her name on assignments, get her
assignments signed and finish her assignments on time and turn them in. This learning target is
important for MB to focus on because it will prepare her for public school, help her improve her
grades; help her learn self monitoring, and self regulation skills. As mentioned in the RIOT ICEL, MB
is in the TOPS program students are preparing for the transition back into public school. In public
school, students have to be able to monitor themselves and know how to manage their time effectively
so that they keep track of their homework, complete it, and turn it in on time. This is a vital
organizational skill MB needs to know in order to succeed in Public school, which will help develop
good grades and independence. ]

The Problem Of Population Health
Population health revolves around the ability to stratify patients to understand the population and
address disparities in care (Darves, 2015). The stratification measures allow the provider to track
trends and improve the health of patients. This process often requires population health councils,
leaders, providers and employees and breaking away from hospital or practice centric and focusing on
the patient (Darves, 2015). The change will require special handling with a physician leader and a non
aggressive management (Darves, 2015). Develop care continuum models in the hospital and
community system to link patients back to their primary care provider. In addition, select clinics and
pilot the program focusing on high risk patients and a selected disease management state such as
diabetes, heart failure and COPD targeting high utilization and setting care protocols to gain support
and demonstrate the success of the model (Darves, 2015). The shift to population health management
is labor, technology and financial intensive. In the past patients received the same care, however with
population health stratify the population and developing care models for each segment of high risk,
rising risk and health along with providing education to the staff and community will help deliver
better care while lowering cost and ensuring patients receive the care when and where they need it
(Darves, 2015). However with population health the patient s health is broken down to high

American Culture Influence On Somalia
States have fought wars for a multitude of reasons in the past few centuries. Today, smaller amounts of
wars are being fought between states, and more are fought within states. Many states and areas of land
are extensively packed with many different people, all possessing specific cultures and ethnicities.
Currently, Iraq is plagued by resentment from Sunni Arabs, under control of the Islamic State, while a
Shiite Iraqi Army tries to fight back. Boko Haram is also present in Northeastern Nigeria, and is
clashing with the Sufi, Shiite, and Izala sects of Islam due to differences in culture preferences
regarding Islam. These are only a few of the examples that incessantly plague the world and represent
the importance of culture in war. Conflicts are not simply about territory or jurisdiction issues, they

To comprehend how culture influences war, Somalia is a perfect example. The culture of Somalia
created the perfect environment for the tactics of an irregular war to be utilized. Geography, clan
lineage, social contract, and Islam define this culture. Most inhabitants in Somalia are ethnic Somalis,
who belong to a specific lineage or ancestral group of bloodline descendants. These inhabitants do not
only belong to a lineage, but also a clan, which is a group of closely connected families. I.M. Lewis,
an anthropologist who studied Somali culture, commented, The (Somalis), indeed, regard fighting... as

Analysis Of Pygmalion And Stoppard s Arcadia
Although all education is interrelated and can improve one s quality of life, it is up to him or her to
utilize the knowledge to improve their life in both Shaw s Pygmalion and Stoppard s Arcadia, but
differs in the motive seeking education, where one is to improve one s social class and life and another
is due to curiosity and fascination, respectively. In both texts, knowledge and education advanced the
character s life quality to a certain limit. In Pygmalion, Eliza, a girl with no manners who seemingly
lives on the streets seeks education in the means of language and manners in order to sell flowers at a
flower shop. In Arcadia, Thomasina, on the other hand, seeks education in the pursuit of curiosity.
Both texts depict knowledge as a passageway for a better life but then show that it is how one utilizes
the education and knowledge that determines one s quality and satisfaction with life.
Education in Pygmalion is depicted as a stepping stone into a better life, but it is how one puts one s
knowledge to use that determines their satisfaction with life. The main message of Pygmalion is
appearances can be deceiving. Higgins, a high middle class man who studies phonetics the science of
speech with a proper education, conveys a persona of being cold, stern, proper, conventional, and

African American And The Caribbean
BLACKS IN AMERICAN AND THE CARIBBEAN
Ariel Holder

Dr. Danielle James
Caribbean people view race differently than African Americans. Caribbean immigrants who arrive to
the United States are often shell shocked by the tangible presence of racism there. What is all the more
surprising is that some of these tensions are more so perpetuated by African Americans. Before an
immigrant can experience the American dream , a life of joys and hardship, they are adequately
discouraged, or warned to reconsider moving to America. They are warned that success will most
certainly be harder for them. Warned that things are different here and that the color of your skin has,

intense and often times unnecessary sense of racial awareness. There are some things that both groups
can relate to as Black people and yet there are many more things that sets them apart.
What sets African Americans and Islanders apart is indeed their history, which is why we are so
different. I would like to start at the beginning on what first shaped these two groups. Many can trace
of the groups heritage of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade back to Africa or other countries such as India,
Asian (indentured servants); however Caribbean people have mainly held onto that heritage, mostly
for cultural aspects of ancestry rather for racial heritage. And many islands still practice this culture
today. It is seen in the way we speak (a fusion of African language with other languages, creole,
patois, Portuguese and numerous dialects), in our holidays, and festivities.

Role Of Flappers In The 1920 s
In the 1920 s, there were many controversial issues going on such as prohibition, the war ending and
the view of woman in society. Although, many other issues were prevalent at this time, one that gained
a wide variety of attention was the more risquƩ women of the 1920 s, flappers. Many at this time still
believed that woman should only be in the background and not be seen as a public figure, but many
woman began to disagree and were ready for their on way, leading to the beginning of flappers. The
flapper woman were not afraid of change and with the rise of prohibition and jazz, they were
introduced into a whole new set of circumstances (2 4). They embraced change, such as changing the
way they looked, how they acted, and basically began to individualize themselves. Some saw what the
flappers were stepping out of line and were not being respectable woman, but others thought it was
time to be questioning the school norm. The flappers, that began flourishing during World War I, by
the 1920 s had become a prominent character with their very own defining characteristics. Around the
time of the WWI woman were closer than ever before to gaining women s rights, giving women the
confidence they needed to make change happen(2 2). By the time the war ended, flappers had gained
an image of slender woman in short straight dresses, long beaded necklaces, and bobbed hair, drinking
gin and dancing the Charleston (1 167) 4. The flappers were the new woman of the era that were

The hCG Diet Essay
The hCG diet was designed nearly 50 years ago by a British physician whose belief that a hormone
found in pregnant women would help people lose weight rapidly and reduce fat. This diet demands
that a person s caloric intake be no more than 500 calories a day along with a daily injection of hCG.
hCG is also known as human chorionic gonadotropin. It is also available in pill form or drops.
hCG has proven to be an acceptable diet program that millions of dieters have reaped benefits from. It
can help a dieter lose up to a pound a day with some people losing even more, as well as keeping the
weight off after returning to a normal lifestyle.

At 500 calories per day this diet does not meet the U.S. nutritional dietary guidelines.
While this diet does promise quick and easy weight loss at first, it is because you are eating fewer
calories than you are burning off.
The diet plan is simple and straight forward. The following is an example of a typical day on this diet:
Breakfast includes tea or coffee in any amount without any sugar. Saccharin or stevia may be used,
however, only one tablespoon of milk in a 24 hour period is allowed
Lunch includes 3 oz of veal, chicken, beef or fish with all visible fat removed. The meat must be
weighed raw before cooking. It should be grilled or boiled only.
Only one vegetable with lunch is allowed from the following: green salad, spinach, chard, chicory,
tomatoes, celery, fennel, onions, red radishes, cucumbers, asparagus, cabbage.
One breadstick or melba toast
An apple, orange, or a handful of strawberries or one half grapefruit.
Dinner is the same as your lunch choices.
Tea, coffee, plain water or mineral water are allowed in any quantity at any time. The juice of one
lemon daily is allowed for all purposes. Salt (minimal), pepper, vinegar, mustard powder, garlic, sweet
basil, parsley, thyme, marjoram, etc., may be used for seasoning. But NO OIL, BUTTER or
DRESSING.
Any diet is tough to follow. Controversy encompasses just about any diet plan found on the market
today. Most diet fads have their zealous followers

Our Needs And Wants Essay
Our Needs and Wants: effects on our inner peace
Life, in general, has not changed over the years; it is only the surroundings and circumstances that
have changed. The way we choose to react to those changes, determines the direct effect on the quality
of our life. We need to focus on the need of distinguishing, between the ever increasing
responsibilities on our shoulders and other insignificant matters that consume our precious time.
Our needs and wants are two distinct entities. We need to separate our needs from our wants in order
to achieve satisfaction. It is definitely not a simple matter. The dilemma is that we all want everything,
but we don t need everything we want. When we can quiet the unnecessary, we can give an

We need to find an opportunity to coach somewhere, in fact anywhere. Find a young person, a young
team, jump in and impart training, like we would if we were coaching at the highest level. Such
initiative and experience, will give us sufficient boost to reach our goals, and actually become a sport
coach one day.
We should not be afraid to take small steps. There s something powerful about momentum...no matter
how little. Many times, the impossible is simply the untried. When we are immobilised with fear,
when each task ahead appears to be a huge one, when we are unable to lift ourselves to face it at those
moments we can break the dilemma by using two simple words: Do something! By taking some small
steps, the required momentum will begin to come into our life.
Most people don t succeed because they are too afraid to even try. As incredible as it sounds, they
decide in advance that they are going to fail. Many times, our final goal seems so distant unachievable
that we don t even make an effort. But, once we have made our decision and actually start, it s like we
are halfway

What is Female Circumsicion Essay
Female Circumcision The World Health Organization defines female circumcision as a procedure
involving partial or total removal of the external genitalia for cultural, religious, or non therapeutic
reasons(1). It is commonly practiced by Muslims in Africa and various parts of the Middle East.
According to Loretta Kopelman, there are over 80 million women who have had some variation of this
procedure. Female circumcision is categorized into three types; Type one is the complete or partial
removal of the clitoris, type two removes the clitoris completely as well as some of the labia minora,
and type three is known as Infibulation, the sewing shut of the vulva leaving only a hole big enough

There is no hygienic or medical benefit for circumcising a female. Also, a male is circumcised shortly
after birth, whereas females experience this procedure at much later ages such as seven or eight. In
2012, the U.N. passed a resolution that condemns female genital mutilation, or circumcision, as
harmful to women and girls (Kolodny). This article argues that female genital mutilation should be a
crime, not a cultural practice, but even if there was some way to make this practice illegal, how would
it ever be enforced in the lawless countries that it is commonly practiced. Cultural relativism is a
concept that the norms, values, morals, and beliefs of a particular culture cannot be judged as right or
wrong, moral or not moral, by a culture that may not share the same beliefs as the other culture. In the
case of the article, Female Genital Mutilation: Crime or Culture, because of cultural relativism, the
practice of circumcising a female is not a crime, but a cultural practice that upholds the traditions of
that culture. The concept of cultural relativism also keeps the practice of this genital mutilation from
being judged by other societies, such as the views that the people in the United States have against a
procedure like this. People who want to continue these practices resent cross cultural criticisms, seeing
them as assaults on their social traditions and identity (Kopelman, 221). In cultures

Hundreds of years of ethnic violence are dredged up at every meet; everyone thinks theirs is the just
cause. From my impartial view there is more than enough blame to go around for all sides .
Milosevic came in to power in Yugoslavia because of his adept timing to use the 1987 protest by
promoting Serbian nationalism on national television. Milosevic adamantly stated in the interview that
none of his books and speeches discussed a strictly Serbian state. The concept of Greater Serbia was
conceived in 1884 Ilika Garasanin and was the credo for the secret Serb nationalist group the Black
Hand who assassinated Franz Ferdinand . Emulating the same opinion from the Garasanin writing,
Milosevic tried to create a Serbia that had complete control over the Yugoslavian area and discredited
any country that tried to exempt itself out of the reaches of Serbian control. Bosnia and Herzegovina
was illegally proclaimed as an independent state and recognized.
Nationalism had been voiced many time s by Milosevic which he uses to voice out against the
Bosnian state. With the help from Karadzic another person who was indicted for war crimes,
Milosevic was able to gain a stronger foothold in Bosnia Herzegovina. Rape camps were used and
created to eliminate the Bosniak bloodline. Thousands of Muslim and Croatian girls and women were
raped and made forcibly pregnant in settings including Serbian run concentration camps, of which
about twenty are solely rape/death camps

Environmental Issues and the Importance of Connecting With...
Biology and Connecting With Nature
Oh, what a catastrophe, what a maiming of love when it was made personal, merely personal feeling.
This is what is the matter with us: we are bleeding at the roots because we are cut off from the earth

The fundamental problem, as David Wann writes in his book Bio Logic, is that our brains and
technologies are still evolving. Although we are part of nature, humans have decided to go their own
way, separated from the realities learned in Biology. Recently both the physics and chemistry industry
formed an alliance and over looked the still evolving field of biology. The result of the coalition was
runaway chemicals, disappearing species, and an afflicted Human population. It is discouraging to see
the violence and the hatred that is growing in the industrial society. The destruction of the forests,
wildlife, and oceans, results in using the remains of the land for a variety of ends that are not at all
related to the spirit of those places. The spirit of Nature that one grows around. Our lives, along with
the lives of the global community, are at risk. We are wounding the earth and in return we are
suffering with it. Some examples of the distruction that humans are causing the earth and themselves
are; hunting and killing endangered species, development of nuclear weapons and thus nuclear waste,
increase of the risk of cancer due to industrial chemicals in the environment, and least but not last the
Ozone depletion problem. These are only few examples from an endless list.

When connected to Arthurian Literature, it s commonly placed among the knights, as it is one of their morals and rules: to be like Christ. These ideals are important because despite everything happening, it s important to always keep God at the center. Examples of Christian ideals are known to be present in Arthurian Literature. The Knights of the Round Table abide by one of their rules, to follow the example of Christ. While this is an excellent rule to abide by, it s rather ironic, in being that these knights fight in battles, while it s known that Christ despises of conflict and war. Fundamental to all sporting games and associations, O Sullivan and Murphy, 1998, give an indication into its express ride to the top of the marketing pyramid; The growth of commercial sponsorship has been perhaps the most striking development in marketing communications over the last two decades . As the need and competition for sponsorship has grown and developed, so too has to the need to compete for and secure sponsorship rights (Hoek and Gendall 2002). This increase in demand and competition gives way for the emergence of what is collectively known as Ambush Marketing . The first to discuss the notion of Ambush ... One of the most talked about and well known ambush marketing scenarios took place at the Sydney 200 Olympic Games. Ansett Australia was the official airline of the games however it was Qantas who aligned themselves closely with numerous Olympic Athletes including Susie O Neill, Cathy Freeman and Ian Thorpe. Three of the most talk about members of the team. Qantas developed advertisement campaigns based around these athletes and their lead up to the Olympic Games. They also ran Olympic Sales slashing prices for flights to and from Sydney throughout the Olympic Game period. It was research conducted by Roy Morgan Research that found that 42% of Australians believed Qantas to be the official airline sponsor compared to that of 15% for Ansett. Although a number of advertisements had in the fine print that they were not the official sponsor, Qantas strategically geared their advertisements to detract from Ansett and align that connection with themselves. Prior to the 2000 Olympics, Qantas rebranded their image and developed the tag line the Spirit of Austraila which was reminiscent of the Sydney Olympics tagline Share the Spirit . Share the Spirit was a successful tag line for Qantas and ensured they solidified their name in the Olympic era. These three are earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanos. We humans call them Natural Disasters because they could destroy all of us or all our homes and important things we need to survive. Without humans, they would only be called natural events because they would not have anything to destroy. Starting with the earthquakes, they have the potential to cause harm and injury, cost loved ones and other people their lives. Although many people may not be purposefully attempting to continue this system of patriarchy, we each play a role in its survival. For many the problem is not that they are promoting patriarchy but that they are not challenging the system. In Johnson s article Patriarchy , he is not examining whether a patriarchal system exists in our culture but what factors are driving this system to continue. The articles analyzed demonstrate Johnson s theory of patriarchy by exemplifying his three facets of the patriarchal system and by recognizing the notion of the path of least resistance. This connection with other men is important, and there is a risk of losing masculinity if a man should choose not to participate in homosocial behavior. Even Schwyzer, a pro feminist thinker, has found himself going along with the banter of his peers out of fear of exclusion. When relationships begin to be formed around ideas that drive patriarchy it becomes very hard to overturn these notions. Although not all male friendships are formed out of objectifying women, homosociality allows connections to be made very quickly among men. This article also shows the fears of taking the path of resistance . Men as well as women are apprehensive to go against the group. Deciding not to join in on the homosocial behavior could result in exclusion or ridicule, and often standing your ground is not worth that risk. The connections that are formed around this behavior are one of the many reasons patriarchy continues in our culture. Many men are afraid to go against other men in fear of seeming feminine. This pressure for men to appear masculine is one of the many parts that form the system of patriarchy. Hegemonic masculinity reveals the male dominance of patriarchy. This term refers to what is considered normal male behavior in our culture. Hegemonic masculinity is characterized by male domination and female subordination. Throughout my school life I ve encountered many teachers who I would consider to be bad teachers. I find it funny how some people only become teachers, so they can get an easy paying job. A bad teacher is someone who assigns work and sits back in their desk, one who assigns the same type of assignment, and one who gives up because he or she can t get the students to calm down. The stratification measures allow the provider to track trends and improve the health of patients. • 34. Our Needs And Wants Essay Our Needs and Wants: effects on our inner peace Life, in general, has not changed over the years; it is only the surroundings and circumstances that have changed. The way we choose to react to those changes, determines the direct effect on the quality of our life. We need to focus on the need of distinguishing, between the ever increasing responsibilities on our shoulders and other insignificant matters that consume our precious time. Our needs and wants are two distinct entities. We need to separate our needs from our wants in order to achieve satisfaction. It is definitely not a simple matter. The dilemma is that we all want everything, but we don t need everything we want. When we can quiet the unnecessary, we can give an opportunity to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We need to find an opportunity to coach somewhere, in fact anywhere. Find a young person, a young team, jump in and impart training, like we would if we were coaching at the highest level. There s something powerful about momentum...no matter how little. Many times, the impossible is simply the untried. When we are immobilised with fear, when each task ahead appears to be a huge one, when we are unable to lift ourselves to face it at those moments we can break the dilemma by using two simple words: Do something! • 35. What is Female Circumsicion Essay Female Circumcision The World Health Organization defines female circumcision as a procedure involving partial or total removal of the external genitalia for cultural, religious, or non therapeutic reasons(1). It is commonly practiced by Muslims in Africa and various parts of the Middle East. According to Loretta Kopelman, there are over 80 million women who have had some variation of this procedure. Female circumcision is categorized into three types; Type one is the complete or partial removal of the clitoris, type two removes the clitoris completely as well as some of the labia minora, and type three is known as Infibulation, the sewing shut of the vulva leaving only a hole big enough for urine and menstrual blood to pass, after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no hygienic or medical benefit for circumcising a female. Also, a male is circumcised shortly after birth, whereas females experience this procedure at much later ages such as seven or eight. In 2012, the U.N. passed a resolution that condemns female genital mutilation, or circumcision, as harmful to women and girls (Kolodny). This article argues that female genital mutilation should be a crime, not a cultural practice, but even if there was some way to make this practice illegal, how would it ever be enforced in the lawless countries that it is commonly practiced. Cultural relativism is a concept that the norms, values, morals, and beliefs of a particular culture cannot be judged as right or wrong, moral or not moral, by a culture that may not share the same beliefs as the other culture. In the case of the article, Female Genital Mutilation: Crime or Culture, because of cultural relativism, the practice of circumcising a female is not a crime, but a cultural practice that upholds the traditions of that culture. The concept of cultural relativism also keeps the practice of this genital mutilation from being judged by other societies, such as the views that the people in the United States have against a procedure like this. People who want to continue these practices resent cross cultural criticisms, seeing them as assaults on their social traditions and identity (Kopelman, 221). In cultures ... The Good, the Bad, and the Milosevic Slobodan Milosevic and many others who were born in WW2 have had troubled childhoods, Milosevic s parents committing suicide which would traumatize any adult . He rose through the ranks of Tito s communist party and survived the late 60 s purges where he became a close ally to the 1980 s party leader Ivan Stambolic. When Slobodan Milosevic was president of Serbia, Time Magazine interviewed him in 1995 just after the Dayton peace accords. Hundreds of years of ethnic violence are dredged up at every meet; everyone thinks theirs is the just cause. From my impartial view there is more than enough blame to go around for all sides . Milosevic came in to power in Yugoslavia because of his adept timing to use the 1987 protest by promoting Serbian nationalism on national television. Milosevic adamantly stated in the interview that none of his books and speeches discussed a strictly Serbian state. The concept of Greater Serbia was conceived in 1884 Ilika Garasanin and was the credo for the secret Serb nationalist group the Black Hand who assassinated Franz Ferdinand . Emulating the same opinion from the Garasanin writing, Milosevic tried to create a Serbia that had complete control over the Yugoslavian area and discredited any country that tried to exempt itself out of the reaches of Serbian control. Bosnia and Herzegovina was illegally proclaimed as an independent state and recognized. Nationalism had been voiced many time s by Milosevic which he uses to voice out against the Bosnian state. With the help from Karadzic another person who was indicted for war crimes, Milosevic was able to gain a stronger foothold in Bosnia Herzegovina. Rape camps were used and created to eliminate the Bosniak bloodline. Thousands of Muslim and Croatian girls and women were raped and made forcibly pregnant in settings including Serbian run concentration camps, of which about twenty are solely rape/death camps ... Biology and Connecting With Nature Oh, what a catastrophe, what a maiming of love when it was made personal, merely personal feeling. This is what is the matter with us: we are bleeding at the roots because we are cut off from the earth and sun and stars. Love has become a grinning mockery because, poor blossom, we plucked it from its stem on the Tree of Life and expected it to keep on blooming in our civilized vase on the table. D.H. The fundamental problem, as David Wann writes in his book Bio Logic, is that our brains and technologies are still evolving. Although we are part of nature, humans have decided to go their own way, separated from the realities learned in Biology. Recently both the physics and chemistry industry formed an alliance and over looked the still evolving field of biology. The result of the coalition was runaway chemicals, disappearing species, and an afflicted Human population. It is discouraging to see the violence and the hatred that is growing in the industrial society. The destruction of the forests, wildlife, and oceans, results in using the remains of the land for a variety of ends that are not at all related to the spirit of those places. The spirit of Nature that one grows around. Our lives, along with the lives of the global community, are at risk. We are wounding the earth and in return we are suffering with it. Some examples of the distruction that humans are causing the earth and themselves are; hunting and killing endangered species, development of nuclear weapons and thus nuclear waste, increase of the risk of cancer due to industrial chemicals in the environment, and least but not last the Ozone depletion problem.
