David And Goliath And Casey At The Bat Essay
In the Bible story, David and Goliath and the poem, Casey at the Bat both of the main characters
share similarities and differences. One of the similarities is that both men are confident about
themselves. David was confident because he knew that God was on his side, and he could not
lose. Casey from, Casey at the Bat acted very confident because everybody was shouting his
name, and he thought he was going to win. Another way Casey and David were comparable is
that they were both fearless and courageous. Casey let the ball go on purpose, and then he received
a strike. He was being fearless and as a result of his action he struck out. He could have played it
safe and swung at the first one, but he decided to be daring. It can be proved that David was
fearless and for that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To add to this thought, David was positive he was going to win that fight. He knew that God was on
his side that was why he was confident in himself. In, Casey at the Bat , Casey was unwavering
and steady because he was focused on fame and hitting that last ball. He was absolutely positive
of his ability. In result of his actions he struck out and lost the game for the team. Both Casey
and David has a lot of comparable traits, but they were also different in many ways. In the Bible
story, David and Goliath , David was unselfish. He went out there and fought for everybody. He
was not concerned about himself. The poem, Casey at the Bat says, That ain t my style, said
Casey. Strike one, the umpire said. From the benches, black with people, there went up a
muffled roar, Using the poem, it can be inferred that Casey was selfish and for this purpose he
was sticking out so the people would cheer his name louder. He was very self absorbed and
because of that he lost the game for everybody. That also goes hand in hand with another
difference. Casey is not dependable or

Social Reformer And A Cultural Relativist
To be a social reformer and a Cultural Relativist
By Jaimie Ianke
Ethics
PHL 104 475
Is it possible to be a social reformer and a Cultural Relativist? A Cultural Relativist is one who see
morality as a product of that culture. That something is morally right if one s culture approves of it.
This would mean that there are no guidelines on right and wrong. We cannot know any absolute
right or wrong, per Rachels. Not judging another s society on what is right and wrong, would be
one simple way to explain the Cultural Relativist perspective.
Cultural Relativism works well if we were to look at another culture with the following conditions:
The society as a whole would be considered archaic

These movements would have to work differently than any other type of movements within history.
This would be the way to not just be a social reformer and a Cultural Relativism at the same time.
Martin Luther King Jr sought out to change society for the better and to rid of slavery. There is a
way this can be done within the confinements demanded by Cultural Relativism. This being as
society has not been living up to its own ideas. This makes the reformer be seen as to be doing
what is for the better of society. Where the ideas of society have the quality by we conclude any
motion as worthwhile. Then, the idea of social reform in this very restricted way would make sense.
We should not change any part of any culture or society unless it is for the better. Making or
wanting to make any type of change for personal gain of any sorts would not be the correct way
of doing anything unless it is for the good of society. This would be a very good example of the
best symbiotic relationship there actually could be. But without a Cultural Relativist and their
perspective on society we would not have social

We Can Use Mass Media And Social Media
My classmates and friends helped shape my political opinions by being a source of information
for me. Hearing news from my peers and then hearing their opinions on this news kind of
persuaded my beliefs because I would feel that I need to fit in and to do so I would have to
conform to the beliefs of others. In the early years of my life I did not have much of an opinion
and I didn t believe that my beliefs mattered. I remember hearing a lot about how my vote doesn t
matter, and how I am just a single fish in an entire sea. This meant to me that my voice would not
be heard. Now I know that this isn t true, and if any American wants to be heard, there are
numerous methods of speaking. We can use mass media, social media, we can write to our
legislators, and we can even express our first amendment rights.
The process of political socialization occurs from as young as we can remember and continues
through to adulthood. All throughout my youth I would listen, while others would talk about how
something was not going their way, and therefore, blame the government for this. Even in school,
teachers would refer to how a certain political figure, or legislative action would condemn them to
lesser pay than they deserve. To balance these actions teachers, form unions and can express their
first amendment right and peacefully assemble to protest their wages. I ve seen it over the entire
course of my education. There are many instances where I witnessed individuals assemble for or

Dbq Jewish Immigration
From 1880 1924, in order to escape persecution from Alexander the II s reign and anti Semitism,
Russian Jews emigrated to America to escape a wave of religious persecution, a chance at a new
life spurred on by the economic turmoil caused by industrialization, and for economic reasons.
They arrived during, The New Immigration the wave of immigration that lasted from 1880 1924. A

Essay on To a Wise one Dying Old
For a very long time the question has been apparent in humans minds. The question is whether to
die young and remembered? Or to die old withering and slowly being forgotten. In our prime
when were at our best in life there may have been records set by one single person or even as a
team. As we age as all humans do those records are broken over and over again by those
generations and generations below us. Slowly those who were once all stars and super stars are
being forgotten by those who know them and the generations coming in who never knew them
and never will. On the physical side we go from strong and sturdy to old and withering away as
our bones deteriorate. Some will answer that they d rather die young and not have to deal with being

If someone were to die young they would lose chances of having children of their own to keep
the family name or even to have grandchildren after a while. If life to this person were all about
sports and being in their prime then they really lose sight of what should be important in life.
Experiencing love from others and loving others should be a more important thing to have in
life and shouldn t be taken for granted. On page 1092 line 21 of A.E. Housman s poem it says,
So set, before its echo fades. Basically saying to die before your echo of glory fades and as long
as a human has someone or several people who genuinely care about them around their echo will
never fade. Finally, if a person dies at a young age they don t get to experience as many things.
With dying young there comes a loss of many experiences that life had in store. Life is full of
experiences and when people die at a young age they sometimes don t get to experience as many
things. It s quite an accomplishment to live for decades to watch the world change from how
you knew it to how it is now. All the evolving the world does especially with technology and the
job types and so on. In conclusion, dying at a young age would be a wasted life. As said before
there s loss of any type of experience including that of being close with those who you care for.
There s also more honors and more to life rather than just sports and being an amazing athlete. There

The World And A Grand Symbol Of Papal Authority Essay
During the Late Renaissance period, the largest church in the world and a grand symbol of
papal authority was built within the territory of the Vatican City. Principally designed by famous
architects, such as Michelangelo, Donato Bramante, Carlo Maderno and Gian Bernini Lorenzo,
St Peter s Basilica built between 1506 to 1626 is one of the greatest Renaissance architectures
and is regarded as the greatest of all churches of Christendom . Believed to be the site of Saint
Peter s tomb, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and considered to be the first pope, the ground
in which the basilica stands is one of the holiest places in the world. Evidence state that the tomb
of Saint Peter is located directly beneath the altar of the Basilica. Due to being such a holy place,
the Basilica contains many tombs of popes and famous religious sculptures, such as the Pieta of
Michelangelo. Admired for its Renaissance architecture, with a fusion with Baroque architecture
in the later years of building, the Basilica of St. Peter also holds great meaning; thus in order to
emphasize its importance, it took several years to design and completely build the dome (and the
Basilica itself). Consequently, the greatest architects and artists were involved . The Roman public
hall, known as a basilica, is usually a rectangular building with side aisles behind the rows of
columns which support the main walls. The focus of attention is at the end opposite the entrance,

Korean War And Modern Warfare
War was once fought with rocks, and other debris. This progressed to swords, axes, bows and
arrows... Then we had guns. The revolution of weaponry far beyond the expectations of what
anyone expected. Finally, war is now fought with robots, drones, and the human body is no longer
required, but only the mind. The physical challenge that a soldier has to undergo nowadays is
incomparable to the endless demands during the First and Second World War. Modern Warfare is
the new War metaphorically and literally, and seems to be a fashion that will persist. Then again
did all these transitions in the mode of warfare have any positive outcome? The lingering conflicts
on both that scale as well as on a domestic one, are still prevalent then and now. So what can

Theu.s. Is A Unique And Special Country
The fact that some Mexicans send money back to Mexico to their families causes Americans to
speculate and, as a result, believe that they are too unattached to the pride that they should have
while living in this country because of their close ties still with Mexico. In contrast to that, eighty
percent said in the survey that, if they had to go through the process of immigrationall over again,
they would because the U.S. is a unique and special country (Farkas). Based on that high percentage
alone, there can be no real debate on the intentions of Mexicans moving here other than those that
are encouraging.
Donald Trump, of course, attempted to challenge that statistic. During his campaign, he claimed,
The worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican
government... They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those
problems to us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists (Walker).
It seems that Donald may have a slightly narrow view of the number of people who actually fit
into these categories versus the total number of people attempting to enter the country. Based on
previously stated evidence, their intentions for moving to the United States were to gain a higher
quality of life by getting a job, not solely to sell drugs and act as rapists. Now that he has been
elected as our president, many Mexicans are currently living in fear of what the next step in his
plan of action is.

Margaret Atwood Film Techniques
Costume Design is one of the most important factors in the filmmaking process. A single piece of
clothing can change the audiences perception of a character. Contemporary films use costume
design in a way to create a realistic and familiar setting, while period dramas or films from
another time use it as a way to shape a character. Throughout the years, the approach to costume
design has evolved but the heart of it has never wavered. Films are affected greatly by the use of

Margaret Atwood Feminist Literature
Margaret Atwood: a Social Activist Through Feminist Literature The 1980s signified the
continuation of an era of social and political upheaval in the United States of America. At the
forefront was a socially conservative agenda that aimed to rescind women s rights only ratified less
than a decade before, a marked display of the nation s desire to uphold traditional values that
defined the preceding generation (Françoise). Among the devastating political climate, however,
was Margaret Atwood: a voice that refused to be silenced, a progressive storyteller who interwove
her writings with feminist themes that pushed boundaries and defied the status quo
(Napierkowski). Her prolific writing career is full of poems, essays, short stories, and novels
that have permanently altered the perception of Canadian literature, while never ceasing to shed
light on pertinent cultural and social issues. Margaret Eleanor Atwood was born on November
18, 1939 in Ottawa, Canada. As a child, she moved back and forth from Toronto and rural
northern Canada, at the same time fostering a passion for writing at an early age. She would later
earn bachelor s and master s degrees from the University of Toronto and Radcliffe College,
respectively. In addition, Atwood has held various teaching positions at universities throughout
North America ( Editors ). She is internationally recognized as one of Canada s most prolific and
impactful writers, most recently winning the PEN Center USA Lifetime Achievement Award in
2017 ( Awards ). Perhaps Atwood s earliest influence can be found in her upbringing. Her exposure
to both metropolitan Toronto and rural Quebec created a colorful childhood, absent of the
comfortable monotony that plagues the youth of others. Her father, an entomologist and avid
reader, helped cultivate in his daughter a love of nature (Biography.com). Atwood expressed how
her parents challenged gender roles in a 1978 interview with The New York Times:
They expected me to make use of my intelligence and abilities and did not pressure me into
getting married ... remember that all this was taking place in the 1950s, when marriage was seen
as the only desirable goal. My mother is a very lively person who would rather skate

Americans living in the British colonies didn t feel like living in liberty being under the tyranny of
King George III. Their happiness (the one they once thought they d find leaving the Old World) was
far from being achieved under so many taxes. Jefferson defended the idea that these rights must be
secured by governments instituted by men, and that when these governments become destructive of
these rights, the people have the right to abolish those institutions and to create new ones in order
to secure their principles. Further in this same long second paragraph, Jefferson accuses King

King George III was the person holding the highest position in the British Government at that

enumerates a series of facts to prove the right to dissolve the political bands with the mother

Rip Van Winkle Allegory
Washington Irving s story of Rip Van Winkle is an allegory of the American Revolutionary War

abandoned and in ruins and his wife was dead, the village was larger, with more people and
houses. This indicates that the new nation without England s authority was more prosperous,
even though some aspects were ruined in the process of war. Irving writes, The very character of
the people seemed changed. There was a busy, bustling, disputatious tone about it, instead of the
accustomed phlegm and drowsy tranquility (51). Some readers may argue that the new nation
is not as good as the colonies because life is faster paced and people are more involved rather
than a more relaxed society, however life is more lively and full. There is more ambition and

woman have little or no power compared to men. Men have always been seen as the dominant
gender. Countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Nepal, and many other
countries, women are treated less than men. Some of these countries won t let women get an
education, and those who do choose to find education will likely get kidnaped or raped. In other
countries, women who don t get married young get sold to human traffickers. And in most of these
countries, pregnant women don t have the proper healthcare to deliver a baby which spikes the
death rate for women and infants. As for men, they don t need to worry about this since men are...

All the data was fitted satisfactorily using the equivalent circuit shown in Fig. 7. Where, Rs,
CPE1 and R1 represent solution resistance, a constant phase element corresponding to the double
layer capacitance and the charge transfer resistance, respectively. CPE2 and R2 were added to
account for the electrical elements of the outer layer. The following formula expressed the
electrode impedance, Z, as follow: Z = Rs + [Rct/ {1 +(2 ПЂ f Rct Cdl)О± }] (8) Where О± is an
empirical parameter (0 ≤α≤1) and f is the frequency in Hz. This formula considered the
deviation from the ideal RC behavior due to surface inhomogeneties, roughness effects, and
different compositions of surface layers 40, 41. The first time constant at low frequency range
was claimed to the presence of an inhomogeneous passive film 42. A constant phase element
(CPE) was used instead of a pure capacitance due to these inhomogenities, which were found at
the oxide/electrolyte interface and under the oxide film. CEE can be introduced in terms of
impedance from the following equation: Zw= Zo i(W) n Where Zo is the CPE constant, W is the
angular frequency (in rad/s), i2 = 1 is the imaginary number and (n) is the CPE exponent. Based
on (n), CPE can represent resistance (n = 0, Zo = R),... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With respect to the influence of albumin, it increased the charge transfer resistance and the outer
layer resistance of titanium and copper alloy and slightly decreased the capacitance. This was
mainly due to the blocking effect of the organic molecule and the adsorption effect 48. R2 value
of Ti increased from 592.2 kΩ cm2 in SBF solution to 1080 kΩ cm2 in SBF + Albumin and from
168.5 kΩ cm2 to 292 kΩ cm2 for the copper alloy. On contrary was the effect of KF, where it

As Clearly And Carefully As You Can
Voluntarists and non voluntarists have had intense debate on the issue of religion and morality. The
underlying central argument of the debate is whether the morality requires a religious foundation
or not. While the voluntarists claim that morality does require a religious foundation, non
voluntarists assert that it doesn t. David Brink and George Mavrodes argues with this theme of
voluntarist and non voluntarist. My essay will largely focus on the strengths and weakness of both
voluntarists and non voluntarists associating with Mavrodes and Brink s idea on this issue.
Voluntarists are the people who insist that it is the will or the attitude of godthat determines morality
and its qualities, while the non voluntarists argue that moral ... Show more content on

What Brink argues is that if the natural properties of a situation determine its moral properties, then
its moral properties can t depend on god s will. He further states that if voluntarism were true, then
two situations could have different moral properties even if there were no natural differences
between them, i.e. , if god s attitudes to the two tokens of the same type were different, one system
could be unjust, but an absolute same one of that system don t have to be unjust. Therefore, the
second argument against to the voluntarism is that voluntarism implies a rejection of supervenience
of the moral properties of natural ones, which rejecting supervenience is counterintuitive and thus
voluntarism has a counterintuitive implication.
The third opposition is a substantive claim argument. This argument explains that if the god
merely selects whatever he or she wants to be good or right, then when people say God is good ,
this notion becomes trivial and non substantive. This argument implies that if voluntarism is true,
then praise of god as good or right wouldn t be meaningful. For example, we can pick our own
grades for the work we had done but don t consider their quality which are independent of our
choice of grade. It would genuinely not count as substantive praise if one person says to another
you got an A. You did very well .
On the contrary, there are also arguments against non voluntarism. To begin

Mayan Archaeological Investigation
When I was faced with choosing what archaeological site I should pick for this research project, I
had no site in mind except that I wanted to pick one that would teach me the most about past
civilizations, but also about what archaeological investigation entails. To complete this task and
with a personal interest in the Maya civilizationI felt that El Mirador was the right choice.
El Mirador or the the lost Mayan city is a huge site that s area in total is larger than Los Angles. It s
located in the jungle of northern Guatemala in a section called the Mirador Basin, a vast area of
forest that contains dozens of Mayan ruins including several large cities, and El Mirador is the

By 2008, Hansen and his team had published over 100 scientific papers and many more technical
reports and scientific presentations. Hansen s work still continues today as he is the director of
what is called the Mirador Basin project. In the article El Mirador, the lost city of the Maya the
author Chip Brown explains how Hansen has excavated, explored and mapped 51 ancient cities
in the Mirador Basin and he has observed how the achievements of the Pre Classic Maya were
reflected in the way they made the leap from clans and chiefdoms to complex societies with class
hierarchies and a cohesive ideology. According to his discoveries he thinks that the mapped sites in
the Mirador Basin may have formed the earliest well defined political state in Mesoamerica. An
early political state or not, this leap that the Maya were able to make at the time was not due to
simple one factor but many. In the article Top 10 Discoveries of 2009 Popol Vuh Relief by Zach
Zorich who describes that there was a fairly new discovery that was found while a team was
investigating the water collection system at the city El Mirador. What they found was a sculptural
panel with one of the earliest depictions of the Maya creation story, the Popol Vuh. The depiction
of the Maya mythology is not all though, Zorich explains that the sculptural panel decorates the
wall of a channel that was meant to funnel water through the central administrative area of the
city. According to Hansen every roof and plaza in the city was designed to guide rainwater into
the reservoir and while a rainforest does not seem to a place of drought, the Mirador Basin gets
very little rain from January through May. Not

What Really Happened In Roswell, New Mexico
What Really Happened in Roswell
Introduction
When people hear the name Roswell, they do not think of a desert town known for livestock,
cotton, petroleum, and natural gas. Instead, they immediately think of UFOs and government cover
ups. When I first heard about the Roswell UFO incident I remember feeling both frightened by the
idea of space aliens and at the same time excited that there could be other intelligent life in the
universe. I wanted to explore and come to my own conclusions about the event that happened in
Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. Did aliens truly visit Roswell and was there a massive government
cover up of this visitation?

people who were interviewed claimed to have seen debris or aliens. Most witnesses were

High Level Nuclear Waste ( Hlw )
High Level Nuclear Waste (HLW) refers to byproducts from nuclear reactors. The byproducts
come in the two forms of spent nuclear fuel, and waste from reprocessing operations. Nuclear fuel
is considered spent when the fission rate has slowed to the point where the creation of electricity is
no longer an efficient process. While reprocessing operations remove uranium or plutonium from
the spent nuclear fuel, the wastes created in the process are still radioactive enough to require the
same sort of storage as spent nuclear fuel. Used nuclear fuel and reprocessing wastes can be
harmful to life and the environment because they are thermally and radioactively hot, so their
storage form must be able to withstand both the heat and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, the United States has no such repository, so casks of immobilized HLW are stored at
the plants that process them. Even without the existence of a repository, any form of ceramic
storage for HLW must be designed with long term effects in mind. Selecting the proper form for
HLW depends on three parameters. The first parameter is the composition of the waste.
Actinides or fission products in HLW will require a complex mixture of elements to be
effectively immobilized in any waste form. The second parameter is the properties of the waste
form. The selection criteria for the waste form properties includes the waste loading maximum,
chemical durability and long term storage ability, and radiation resistance. The waste form must
be capable of containing a required weight percentage of HLW in such a manner that the form is
not degraded over time due to radiation, since HLW products may have very large half lives.
These parameters form the selection criteria that any ceramic candidate for HLW storage must
adhere to in order to be considered. The first waste form to be discussed is borosilicate glass.
Glass is amorphous, so the principle of using this glass as the immobilization form is that the
radionuclides are dissolved and randomly embedded in the structure, and stored interstitially. The
basis for glass as a storage form is based on

Cannibalism to say the least is a very taboo word. Cannibalism is known to be very disturbing and
sets off a certain set of powerful emotions when spoken about. One thing about cannibalism is that
it used to be considered a normal part of life, and has only recently been seen as taboo in the recent
centuries. Many people believe Cannibalismshould be legal world wide, but only have reasoning s
of culture and religions. Cannibalism should be illegal because of immorality, diseases , and
murder by eating someone s flesh. The History of Cannibalism is small, yet widely spread
around the world. The Korowai Tribe has been around since 1974, they are known for killing
outsiders, and to be afraid of pale skinned people (Raffaele). If Cannibalism stays legal, the
isolated tribes could possibly expand, and want to kill any pale skinned person, or anyone not
from their tribe. The Carib tribe was the first known tribe to commit acts of cannibalism to their
enemies, which became increasingly rare once the introduction of Christianity was introduced in

outcast, giving it no reason to be legal within our current society. The Aztecs are known as one of

The Chemical Ingredient Of Acetylsalicylic Acid Essay
Acetylsalicylic acid is the active pharmaceutical ingredient that is found in aspirin and is used to
treat inflammation, pain and fever. It is created by an esterification reaction of salicylic acid with
acetic anhydride in the presence of an acid catalyst. At the end of the reaction, a product and
unreacted salicylic acidand acid catalyst was created. The product contains impurities, such as acetic
anhydrideand salicylic acid, which needs to be removed. Crystallization, a technique used to
purify substances, produces crystals and the impurities get filtered under the vacuum. Adding
water after the crystals are made but before the crystals are vacuumed helps to purify the crystals
and get rid of some impurities. Melting the crystals can determine the purity of the product that
was made. When performing the experiment, salicylic acid will be in a flask and in a water bath.
It is important that it sits in the water bath for at least eight minutes but no more than ten
minutes. If it is in the water bath for more than ten minutes, the salicylic acid could decompose.
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the presence of salicylic acid and starch in
acetylsalicylic acid. The presence of salicylic acid can be determined by performing a ferric
chloride test. The presence of starch can be determined by performing an iodine test. In order to
find the percent yield, the following formula was used:

Audiences received the original King Kongvery well. The stop motionsequences of Kong were

While Jackson s remake is true to the original for the most part, there are some small changes
made in order to make the movie more appealing. In the original King Kong it is the lead actor in
the movie that saves the damsel in distress but in the 2005 remake it is the scriptwriter that saves
the female actress. This change is likely due to the recent trend of heroes coming from unlikely
places. Studios know that if a movie does well the first time, it is likely to do well the second
time and even the third time. King Kong is no exception. Producers can presume that the glory
of the original will pass on to the remake since audiences hope for that feeling again. Whether the
movie is better or not doesn t matter. Audiences will go to see King Kong over the years because
the remakes are associated with the original. Every King Kong remake is based on the same
principles: wanting to create a movie that will capture audiences and instill in them a sense of
wonderment and awe. The original did this and the remakes try to do it again. Directors, producers,
and studios may change the story, update the actors and technology but they are essentially just

Parenting Styles Of Child Rearing
There are four different parenting styles of Child rearing which include, the uninvolved parent, the
Authoritarian parent, the permissive parent, and the authoritative parent. Each style has different
characteristic that can be beneficial or harmful to a child s emotional and social development. The
first child rearing style is the uninvolved parentwhich is exactly like it sounds. These parents aren
t engaged with their child and are emotionally detached, they make little to no demands and let
their child do as they please. Next is the authoritarian parent who is overly aggressive. They tend
to be cold and rejecting toward their children and make so many demands that their child doesn t
get a chance to make any choices. Thirdly there is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These kids tend to be more antisocial, are disobedient and defiant. School performance can decline
and they can t seem to stay on task. The parenting style that has positive outcomes to a child is an
authoritative parent. These children have higher self esteem, are more cooperative and have
positive behavior. They also have better school performance and stay on task.
As a parent, I tend to be around other parents often weather it s picking my kids up from school
or going to places like the zoo or museum. I have encountered all four times of parents. While on
the school playground I observed an uninvolved parent who was with a child that was between 2
3 years of age who must have been picking up and older sibling. This parent let the child walk a
good 30 feet ahead of them while starring at their phone screen the whole time. The child went
onto the playground and was attempting to climb stairs to go down a slide, the parent honestly
never looked up from their phone and just sat on a bench. During this time I am with my
daughter so I kept an eye on the child and helped him climb the stairs. In the next ten minutes or
so the parent not once engaged in their child or looked to see if he was still around. The child
also seemed to have had an accident but was still playing in his wet clothes. I didn t notice any
emotional or behavioral challenges with the boy because he seemed happy to be playing outside

Hoarding Buried Alive Essay
I freaked out watching TLC show Hoarding, Buried Alive . This show evoked me how modern
people have accumulated stuff excessively. In the TV show, none of them are happy living with
massive material possessions. It even destroys the relationship with their family members. Hoarders
felt uncomfortable, depression and anxiety. This brings me into a question about the negative effect
of consumerism in modern days. Why does living more or less effect to our happiness?
Over the past years, like many other people, I searched my happiness in material possessions.
Like an ordinary 20s something girl, I thrived to shop pretty clothes, shoes, and bags. At the age of
21, I moved to New York City. A big city with a new place made me a good reason to modernize
myself with updated brand new materials. I bought shoes, sweaters, pants and many other
accessories to fill up my new closet and room. But my happiness did not last long. A few days
later, I found more discounted items, deals online for the same items I bought before. An... Show

Compare And Contrast Gilgamesh And Noah
The story of the great flood in the Epic of Gilgamesh, where the ignorance of gods between man
is noticed purely. Same as the story of Noah s Ark, god wants all men to die due to the mass of sins.
The Epic of Gilgamesh and The story of Noah are very similar but different in their own
perspective. In Gilgamesh the gods have been peeved by the noise and rambles of the people and
decides to kill them all. In the Genesis Goddecides to kill most men to recover from sins, both
similar ambitions.
In the Epic of Gilgamesh Utnapishtim says, I heard the whisper of the god saying that a huge
genocide will happen and the gods are angry . He warns the townsfolk and his family but fail
ultimately by leaving them for saving 2 of each animal. But in the gods defense they realized
how much of a terrible mistake they have made. When releasing the bottomless water gates and
conjuring a powerful 40 day storm, they quickly found them selves clinging to the high wall of
the great god like dogs, whimpering for a scrap of food from the butchers shop . Utnapishtim
suffered the most from this. He had to leave his family for the better of the earth but in return he

Ntb Airplane Failure
Weather is possibly the biggest X factors affecting a pilot in flight. According to a 2014 Airplane
Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) Report (NTSB DEN06LA036), approximately 4% of
general aviation accidents are weather related, yet these accidents account for more than 25% of all
fatalities. Unintended flight in to IMC is probably one of the most confusing, perilous, and
challenging situations a pilot can go through. On 25 January 2006, a pilot crashed his recently
purchased Cessna 172C while ferrying it from Arkansas to his home base in Richfield, Utah after
encountering instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) while flying via visual flight rules(VFR).
The airplane suffered extensive damage when it collided with numerous trees... Show more content

Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez Essay
Zoot Suit by Luis Valdez
Based on the infamous 1942 Sleepy Lagoon murder mystery and the resulting Zoot Suit Riots in
Los Angeles , playwright Luis Valdez weaves fact and fiction to depict the fate of 22 young
Mexican Americans brought to trial for a murder they did not commit.
Zoot Suit brings together unforgettable characters such as the irreverent El Pachuco and the
charismatic Henry Reyna, an unsuspecting gang leader who finds himself caught in the middle of
the racially turbulent events that rocked Los Angeles during the early 1940s.
Valdez says this production exemplifies the evolution of American society.
The essence about the American experience is about cultural fusion, Valdez says. Zoot Suit has

It s very gratifying to get the immediate reaction from the audience, he says. Many young
playwrights tend to want to move toward making movies, mainly because of the potential to reach
a world wide audience. However, you can t see your viewers reactions.
At the age of 6, Valdez got his first taste of theater when he was cast to play a monkey for his
school s production of Christmas in the Jungle.
I use to bring my lunch in a paper bag and I remember when we were getting ready to prepare for
the play, my teacher took my bag, ripped it up and used it to make papier mache, he recalls. We
made masks for our costumes out of paper mache; and I got a monkey mask made from my lunch
bag. I also got a tail and I remember our costumes were really nice, made with nice material. I was
so excited.
Valdez never got to perform in his school play because the week before the play, his family, who
were farm workers, were evicted from their home and had to move.
They play went on without me, he says. I never got to act and I was very disappointed. That event
created this hole in me; and I think from then on I ve been trying to fill it through my work.
Valdez s experience in a farm worker family provided much encouragement and drive when he
founded El Teatro Campesino. In 1965, Valdez left the San Francisco Mime Troupeto join Cesar

Globalization Through The Eyes Of Soccer
Globalization through the Eyes of Soccer
One indisputable aspect of modernity is that as time has progressed, the world has become more
and more connected in all imaginable ways. This aspect of modern society is termed globalization,
and it has a large impact on how the world operates. Observing and understanding the development
and integration of soccer in various societies proffers insight as to how the sport has aided in the
increasing globalization of the world within the past century. These effects of globalization can
first be seen in the international efforts around the world of soccer. Globalization can be divided
into political, cultural and economic interactions. Examples of both the political and the cultural
impacts of soccer can be found in France and its recent history, whereas a consequence of
economic globalization and its ties to soccer can best be seen in Asia.
The history of soccer at the international level connects heavily with the idea of globalization.
Globalization, in essence, is the interaction, collaboration, and sometimes even conflict, between
people of different nations; soccer embodies this idea heavily. For instance, in 1904, seven
European nations founded the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), creating the
foundation for the behemoth of an organization that it is today (McMahon 11/8/2016). The idea
behind the association was to have a governmental body that could control and dictate international
matches, as well as

The Concept Of Dianetics And Scientology
Scientology, defined as the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and
other life, its aim, according to Hubbard is to create a civilization without insanity, without
criminals and without war; where the world can prosper and honest being can have rights, and
where free man is free to rise to greater heights (Wiki 2016). Sounds nice, but then again so does
finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The originator of the concept of dianetics and
scientology is named L. Ron Hubbard, born 1911 in small town Tilden, Nebraska. Said to be a
prolific writer of pulp magazine, adventure, fantasy, and science fiction, in 1948 Hubbard wrote a

A form of abreaction therapy first utilized to treat neuroses in evacuated soldiers, Hubbard s
adaptation was aimed to gain access to and locate engrams in the human mind and erase them. A
construction of Hubbard s theories, an engram is a recorded moment of physical or emotional
pain that the mind has recorded consciously and unconsciously. For instance let s say that Mary,
age 4, had a little lamb, this lamb figured it did not like Mary anymore and gave her a nice head
butt. Mary grows into a women, has no recollection of being head butt by a lamb, but now
whenever she drives by a sheep farm or a petting zoo she gets a headache. Erasing these engrams
is the path to what seems to be the ultimate goal of scientology which is becoming clear,
becoming clear would be Buddhism s equivalent to achieving a state of nirvana. While Hubbard s
theory that aspects of human behaviour might be explained as responses traumatic events and
past experiences makes perfect sense and that addressing these experiences may lead to a clear
mind, in the literal meaning of the word of course, as does the Buddha s version, do go things and
good things will happen, Hubbard s leap from addressing past conflict to the benefits of

The Black Hole, An Area Of Spacetime
The black hole, an area of spacetime thats gravity is so strong that it can prevent anything from
escaping, even light. Contrary to popular belief, black holes are not empty holes in space, but
rather a massive amount of matter packed into a small area. The graphic to the right shows the
simulated view of a black holein front of a Large Magellanic Cloud. The theory of these black
holes was conceived in Einstein s theory of general relativity. It predicts that a plentiful compact
mass will contort spacetime and create a black hole. The black hole acts like a perfect black
body, in the sense that it reflects no light. The area where the nothing can escape is the event
horizon. This event horizon has no features that can be detected from close up, and has huge
effects on what will happen to the object that crosses it. Also, according to the to quantum field
theory in curved spacetime, an event horizon will emit a black body radiation, also known as
Hawking radiation. The graphic to the right shows where the event horizon, and the black hole
itself, are located. It also shows the accretion disk, which is formed when matter falls into a
black hole and is heated by friction. It is believed that black holes of extreme mass form when
giant stars collapse. After this event, its continues to grow by absorbing the mass from its
surroundings. The way scientists can tell the age of a black hole is by using the orbits of stars
around it. It is believed that supermassive black holes

Aequorea Research Papers
Aequorea victoria is a jellyfish in Puget Sound, Washington State. The small hydromedusa grows to
be 5 to 10 centimeters in diameter and live for around six months. The tiny jellyfish is most
famously known for the luminescent protein aequorin and the fluorescent molecule GFP or green
fluorescent protein (Mills 1999). These two proteins have proven to be quite useful in biochemistry
and biomedical research. More commonly used is green fluorescent protein, which has been used as
a marker for geneexpression in various types of research. Green fluorescent protein was first
recognized in the early 1960s by a group of researchers studying the bioluminescent properties of
the Aequorea victoria jellyfish. They discovered that the jellyfish produces green bioluminescence
from small photoorgans located on its umbrella. Osamu Shimomura found that in order to
bioluminesce Aequorea releases calcium ions. These bind to a protein that he called aequorin,
which release blue light upon calcium binding. The blue light is absorbed by green fluorescent
protein, which in turn gives off the green light (Shimomura, O., Johnson, F. H. and Saiga, Y. 1962.)
In 1987, Douglas Prasher was the first person to recognize the potential for Green fluorescent
protein to be utilized as a tracer molecule. Due to proteins being extremely small and unseen even
under electron... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the aid of GFP, researchers have developed ways to watch processes that were previously
invisible, such as the development of nerve cells in the brain or how cancer cells spread. Tens of
thousands of different proteins reside in a living organism, controlling important chemical
processes in minute detail. If this protein machinery malfunctions, illness and disease often follow.
That is why it has been imperative for bioscience to map the role of different proteins in the body.

Factors Influencing Nursing Among Nurses
Title: Factors influencing professionalism in nursing among nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia.
INTRODUCTION
Statement of the problem
Healthcare organizations in Saudi Arabia are very dependent on expatriate nurses to meet the
demands of health staffing, a situation exacerbated by the current global nursing shortages and
retention issues (Almalki, Fitzgerald, Clark, 2011). I propose to study the factors that influence the
professionalism in nursing amongst nurses from different countries in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. I
am particularly interested in this field as I have encountered nurses behaving unprofessionally in a
hospital setting.
According to Miller, Adams and Beck (1993), formal education in a university setting and education
with a scientific background are critical for professionalism in nursing. A study done by Rees,
Monrouxe, and McDonald (2015), expressed that while nursing students are shown professionalism
through formal educational module, they ordinarily encounter workplace based professionalism
dilemmas that are frequently created by registered nurses. Peer relationships in nursing is also
important in maintaining the standards of professionalism (Padgett, 2013).
Purpose of the study
The purpose of the study is to determine the factors influencing professionalism in nursing among
nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Theoretical framework
The theoretical framework that I would use in this research paper is the Hall s

QUESTION 3:
HOBBITON
History:
In 1998 was when it all started ,looking for the perfect area of land suitable for a village of
Hobbits, Peter Jackson found the Alexanders family farm while he was on a aerial search
suitable for what they needed with pristine rolling grasslands, like a slice of ancient England
(Wikipedia TLOTR), looked as though Hobbits had already begun excavations (Alan Lee ,set

construction begun in March 1999 transforming the landscape into the set for Hobbiton. The New
Zealand army also got involved bringing heavy machinery to build a 1.5 kilometer road from the
nearest highway to the construction site. Peter Jackson wrote: I knew Hobbiton needed to be
warm, comfortable and feel lived in. By letting the weeds grow through the cracks and establishing
hedges and little gardens a year before filming, we ended up with an incredibly real place, not just a
film set (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobbiton_Movie_Set).So much detail went into creating the
perfect atmosphere for the 37 Hobbit holes ,gardens and even hedges. In December 1999 filming
commenced for The Lord of the Rings and lasted for three months. The set, originally built out of
untreated timber, ply and polystyrene, was never meant to last, but only for the duration that was
needed however it became a place of interest for tourist.

What Is The Source Of Injustice In The Prince And The Pauper
In The Prince and the Pauper the main source of injustice is from the monarchy that was
controlled by King Henry VIII during 15th century England. Tom Canty and Edward Tudor( the
prince) trade cloths and then released they looked very similar. They decided to trade places
because they thought that they each had what the other wanted. They were separated while Tom
Canty was posing as prince the king died and this put Tom Canty in power. The king has ruled a
monarch based on the belief of divine right. Divine right is when a blood line considered godly
by a group of people therefore that blood line can do what ever they want because God has given
the there blessing. There are several characters that rise above the limits of there society to
change it for the better. Tom Canty is one of the best examples of a character that rises above his
society to better the people around him. The first example of this is when he refuses to beg he is
better for it by his father but begging is agent the law. When he is posing as the king he pardons
many people of crimes that they were unjustly charged with. He is also very honest about knot
being the king even though know one believes him. When the real king shows up he gives him his
title back. Toms honest and resilience are his main characteristics that help him rise above the

Black Worms Lab
There are two main types of toxicity, acute and chronic. Acute toxicity refers to a relatively high
dose of a toxin given over a short period of time. Chronic toxicity is a relatively low dose of a
toxin given over a longer time period. Acute toxicity is measured by the Lethal Dose 50 (LD50).
LD50 is the dose of a specific substance that kills 50% of test organisms, and it varies from
substance to substance. Toxin severity is due to intrinsic, within the body, and extrinsic, outside of
the body, factors. When determining the effect of a toxin on an organism, it is important to

  • 2. David And Goliath And Casey At The Bat Essay In the Bible story, David and Goliath and the poem, Casey at the Bat both of the main characters share similarities and differences. One of the similarities is that both men are confident about themselves. David was confident because he knew that God was on his side, and he could not lose. Casey from, Casey at the Bat acted very confident because everybody was shouting his name, and he thought he was going to win. Another way Casey and David were comparable is that they were both fearless and courageous. Casey let the ball go on purpose, and then he received a strike. He was being fearless and as a result of his action he struck out. He could have played it safe and swung at the first one, but he decided to be daring. It can be proved that David was fearless and for that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To add to this thought, David was positive he was going to win that fight. He knew that God was on his side that was why he was confident in himself. In, Casey at the Bat , Casey was unwavering and steady because he was focused on fame and hitting that last ball. He was absolutely positive of his ability. In result of his actions he struck out and lost the game for the team. Both Casey and David has a lot of comparable traits, but they were also different in many ways. In the Bible story, David and Goliath , David was unselfish. He went out there and fought for everybody. He was not concerned about himself. The poem, Casey at the Bat says, That ain t my style, said Casey. Strike one, the umpire said. From the benches, black with people, there went up a muffled roar, Using the poem, it can be inferred that Casey was selfish and for this purpose he was sticking out so the people would cheer his name louder. He was very self absorbed and because of that he lost the game for everybody. That also goes hand in hand with another difference. Casey is not dependable or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Social Reformer And A Cultural Relativist To be a social reformer and a Cultural Relativist By Jaimie Ianke Ethics PHL 104 475 Is it possible to be a social reformer and a Cultural Relativist? A Cultural Relativist is one who see morality as a product of that culture. That something is morally right if one s culture approves of it. This would mean that there are no guidelines on right and wrong. We cannot know any absolute right or wrong, per Rachels. Not judging another s society on what is right and wrong, would be one simple way to explain the Cultural Relativist perspective. Cultural Relativism works well if we were to look at another culture with the following conditions: The society as a whole would be considered archaic There is no industrialization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These movements would have to work differently than any other type of movements within history. This would be the way to not just be a social reformer and a Cultural Relativism at the same time. Martin Luther King Jr sought out to change society for the better and to rid of slavery. There is a way this can be done within the confinements demanded by Cultural Relativism. This being as society has not been living up to its own ideas. This makes the reformer be seen as to be doing what is for the better of society. Where the ideas of society have the quality by we conclude any motion as worthwhile. Then, the idea of social reform in this very restricted way would make sense. We should not change any part of any culture or society unless it is for the better. Making or wanting to make any type of change for personal gain of any sorts would not be the correct way of doing anything unless it is for the good of society. This would be a very good example of the best symbiotic relationship there actually could be. But without a Cultural Relativist and their perspective on society we would not have social ... • 4. We Can Use Mass Media And Social Media My classmates and friends helped shape my political opinions by being a source of information for me. Hearing news from my peers and then hearing their opinions on this news kind of persuaded my beliefs because I would feel that I need to fit in and to do so I would have to conform to the beliefs of others. In the early years of my life I did not have much of an opinion and I didn t believe that my beliefs mattered. I remember hearing a lot about how my vote doesn t matter, and how I am just a single fish in an entire sea. This meant to me that my voice would not be heard. Now I know that this isn t true, and if any American wants to be heard, there are numerous methods of speaking. We can use mass media, social media, we can write to our legislators, and we can even express our first amendment rights. The process of political socialization occurs from as young as we can remember and continues through to adulthood. All throughout my youth I would listen, while others would talk about how something was not going their way, and therefore, blame the government for this. Even in school, teachers would refer to how a certain political figure, or legislative action would condemn them to lesser pay than they deserve. To balance these actions teachers, form unions and can express their first amendment right and peacefully assemble to protest their wages. I ve seen it over the entire course of my education. There are many instances where I witnessed individuals assemble for or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Essay on To a Wise one Dying Old For a very long time the question has been apparent in humans minds. The question is whether to die young and remembered? Or to die old withering and slowly being forgotten. In our prime when were at our best in life there may have been records set by one single person or even as a team. As we age as all humans do those records are broken over and over again by those generations and generations below us. Slowly those who were once all stars and super stars are being forgotten by those who know them and the generations coming in who never knew them and never will. On the physical side we go from strong and sturdy to old and withering away as our bones deteriorate. Some will answer that they d rather die young and not have to deal with being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If someone were to die young they would lose chances of having children of their own to keep the family name or even to have grandchildren after a while. If life to this person were all about sports and being in their prime then they really lose sight of what should be important in life. Experiencing love from others and loving others should be a more important thing to have in life and shouldn t be taken for granted. On page 1092 line 21 of A.E. Housman s poem it says, So set, before its echo fades. Basically saying to die before your echo of glory fades and as long as a human has someone or several people who genuinely care about them around their echo will never fade. Finally, if a person dies at a young age they don t get to experience as many things. With dying young there comes a loss of many experiences that life had in store. Life is full of experiences and when people die at a young age they sometimes don t get to experience as many things. It s quite an accomplishment to live for decades to watch the world change from how you knew it to how it is now. All the evolving the world does especially with technology and the job types and so on. In conclusion, dying at a young age would be a wasted life. As said before there s loss of any type of experience including that of being close with those who you care for. • 7. The World And A Grand Symbol Of Papal Authority Essay During the Late Renaissance period, the largest church in the world and a grand symbol of papal authority was built within the territory of the Vatican City. Principally designed by famous architects, such as Michelangelo, Donato Bramante, Carlo Maderno and Gian Bernini Lorenzo, St Peter s Basilica built between 1506 to 1626 is one of the greatest Renaissance architectures and is regarded as the greatest of all churches of Christendom . Believed to be the site of Saint Peter s tomb, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and considered to be the first pope, the ground in which the basilica stands is one of the holiest places in the world. Evidence state that the tomb of Saint Peter is located directly beneath the altar of the Basilica. Due to being such a holy place, the Basilica contains many tombs of popes and famous religious sculptures, such as the Pieta of Michelangelo. Admired for its Renaissance architecture, with a fusion with Baroque architecture in the later years of building, the Basilica of St. Peter also holds great meaning; thus in order to emphasize its importance, it took several years to design and completely build the dome (and the Basilica itself). Consequently, the greatest architects and artists were involved . The Roman public hall, known as a basilica, is usually a rectangular building with side aisles behind the rows of columns which support the main walls. The revolution of weaponry far beyond the expectations of what anyone expected. Finally, war is now fought with robots, drones, and the human body is no longer required, but only the mind. The physical challenge that a soldier has to undergo nowadays is incomparable to the endless demands during the First and Second World War. Modern Warfare is the new War metaphorically and literally, and seems to be a fashion that will persist. Then again did all these transitions in the mode of warfare have any positive outcome? The lingering conflicts on both that scale as well as on a domestic one, are still prevalent then and now. So what can subsequently terminate all of the above? • 9. Theu.s. Is A Unique And Special Country The fact that some Mexicans send money back to Mexico to their families causes Americans to speculate and, as a result, believe that they are too unattached to the pride that they should have while living in this country because of their close ties still with Mexico. In contrast to that, eighty percent said in the survey that, if they had to go through the process of immigrationall over again, they would because the U.S. is a unique and special country (Farkas). Based on that high percentage alone, there can be no real debate on the intentions of Mexicans moving here other than those that are encouraging. Donald Trump, of course, attempted to challenge that statistic. During his campaign, he claimed, The worst elements in Mexico are being pushed into the United States by the Mexican government... They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems to us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists (Walker). It seems that Donald may have a slightly narrow view of the number of people who actually fit into these categories versus the total number of people attempting to enter the country. Based on previously stated evidence, their intentions for moving to the United States were to gain a higher quality of life by getting a job, not solely to sell drugs and act as rapists. Contemporary films use costume design in a way to create a realistic and familiar setting, while period dramas or films from another time use it as a way to shape a character. Throughout the years, the approach to costume design has evolved but the heart of it has never wavered. • 16. Margaret Atwood Feminist Literature Margaret Atwood: a Social Activist Through Feminist Literature The 1980s signified the continuation of an era of social and political upheaval in the United States of America. At the forefront was a socially conservative agenda that aimed to rescind women s rights only ratified less than a decade before, a marked display of the nation s desire to uphold traditional values that defined the preceding generation (FranГ§oise). Among the devastating political climate, however, was Margaret Atwood: a voice that refused to be silenced, a progressive storyteller who interwove her writings with feminist themes that pushed boundaries and defied the status quo (Napierkowski). Her prolific writing career is full of poems, essays, short stories, and novels that have permanently altered the perception of Canadian literature, while never ceasing to shed light on pertinent cultural and social issues. Margaret Eleanor Atwood was born on November 18, 1939 in Ottawa, Canada. As a child, she moved back and forth from Toronto and rural northern Canada, at the same time fostering a passion for writing at an early age. She would later earn bachelor s and master s degrees from the University of Toronto and Radcliffe College, respectively. In addition, Atwood has held various teaching positions at universities throughout North America ( Editors ). She is internationally recognized as one of Canada s most prolific and impactful writers, most recently winning the PEN Center USA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 ( Awards ). Perhaps Atwood s earliest influence can be found in her upbringing. Her exposure to both metropolitan Toronto and rural Quebec created a colorful childhood, absent of the comfortable monotony that plagues the youth of others. Her father, an entomologist and avid reader, helped cultivate in his daughter a love of nature (Biography.com). Atwood expressed how her parents challenged gender roles in a 1978 interview with The New York Times: They expected me to make use of my intelligence and abilities and did not pressure me into getting married ... remember that all this was taking place in the 1950s, when marriage was seen as the only desirable goal. The Declaration of Independence is a juridical and legal document written sometime between June 11 and June 28, 1776. The reason for that lapse of time is because a draft of the declaration was asked to a group of five delegates of the Continental Congress on June 11, called The Committee of Five , consisting of John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, Robert R. Americans living in the British colonies didn t feel like living in liberty being under the tyranny of King George III. Their happiness (the one they once thought they d find leaving the Old World) was far from being achieved under so many taxes. Jefferson defended the idea that these rights must be secured by governments instituted by men, and that when these governments become destructive of these rights, the people have the right to abolish those institutions and to create new ones in order to secure their principles. Further in this same long second paragraph, Jefferson accuses King George III (he doesn t name him directly, but it is obvious that he makes him responsible because King George III was the person holding the highest position in the British Government at that moment) of despotism, and of having established a tyranny over the States. Thomas Jefferson enumerates a series of facts to prove the right to dissolve the political bands with the mother country. Summing up some of the next paragraphs Jefferson refers to the lack of Colonial representation in the governing British Parliament, and many colonists considered some of the laws of the British Government to be illegitimate and a violation of their rights as Englishmen, due to the fact that the British Crown adopted the policy that the colonies should pay an increased proportion of the ... In this story, the character of Rip Van Winklerepresents the colonies, Dame Van Winkle represents England, and the villagers represent the American citizens. This indicates that the new nation without England s authority was more prosperous, even though some aspects were ruined in the process of war. Irving writes, The very character of the people seemed changed. There was a busy, bustling, disputatious tone about it, instead of the accustomed phlegm and drowsy tranquility (51). Some readers may argue that the new nation is not as good as the colonies because life is faster paced and people are more involved rather than a more relaxed society, however life is more lively and full. There is more ambition and interest in life and government, as opposed to the apathy that existed before the revolution. While no longer tranquil, there was more engagement from the citizens. The underlying central argument of the debate is whether the morality requires a religious foundation or not. While the voluntarists claim that morality does require a religious foundation, non voluntarists assert that it doesn t. David Brink and George Mavrodes argues with this theme of voluntarist and non voluntarist. My essay will largely focus on the strengths and weakness of both voluntarists and non voluntarists associating with Mavrodes and Brink s idea on this issue. Voluntarists are the people who insist that it is the will or the attitude of godthat determines morality and its qualities, while the non voluntarists argue that moral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What Brink argues is that if the natural properties of a situation determine its moral properties, then its moral properties can t depend on god s will. He further states that if voluntarism were true, then two situations could have different moral properties even if there were no natural differences between them, i.e. , if god s attitudes to the two tokens of the same type were different, one system could be unjust, but an absolute same one of that system don t have to be unjust. Therefore, the second argument against to the voluntarism is that voluntarism implies a rejection of supervenience of the moral properties of natural ones, which rejecting supervenience is counterintuitive and thus voluntarism has a counterintuitive implication. The third opposition is a substantive claim argument. This argument explains that if the god merely selects whatever he or she wants to be good or right, then when people say God is good , this notion becomes trivial and non substantive. This argument implies that if voluntarism is true, then praise of god as good or right wouldn t be meaningful. For example, we can pick our own grades for the work we had done but don t consider their quality which are independent of our choice of grade. It would genuinely not count as substantive praise if one person says to another you got an A. You did very well . On the contrary, there are also arguments against non voluntarism. To begin ... The byproducts come in the two forms of spent nuclear fuel, and waste from reprocessing operations. Nuclear fuel is considered spent when the fission rate has slowed to the point where the creation of electricity is no longer an efficient process. While reprocessing operations remove uranium or plutonium from the spent nuclear fuel, the wastes created in the process are still radioactive enough to require the same sort of storage as spent nuclear fuel. Used nuclear fuel and reprocessing wastes can be harmful to life and the environment because they are thermally and radioactively hot, so their storage form must be able to withstand both the heat and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Currently, the United States has no such repository, so casks of immobilized HLW are stored at the plants that process them. Even without the existence of a repository, any form of ceramic storage for HLW must be designed with long term effects in mind. Selecting the proper form for HLW depends on three parameters. The first parameter is the composition of the waste. Actinides or fission products in HLW will require a complex mixture of elements to be effectively immobilized in any waste form. The second parameter is the properties of the waste form. The selection criteria for the waste form properties includes the waste loading maximum, chemical durability and long term storage ability, and radiation resistance. The waste form must be capable of containing a required weight percentage of HLW in such a manner that the form is not degraded over time due to radiation, since HLW products may have very large half lives. These parameters form the selection criteria that any ceramic candidate for HLW storage must adhere to in order to be considered. The first waste form to be discussed is borosilicate glass. • 30. The Chemical Ingredient Of Acetylsalicylic Acid Essay Acetylsalicylic acid is the active pharmaceutical ingredient that is found in aspirin and is used to treat inflammation, pain and fever. It is created by an esterification reaction of salicylic acid with acetic anhydride in the presence of an acid catalyst. At the end of the reaction, a product and unreacted salicylic acidand acid catalyst was created. The product contains impurities, such as acetic anhydrideand salicylic acid, which needs to be removed. Crystallization, a technique used to purify substances, produces crystals and the impurities get filtered under the vacuum. Adding water after the crystals are made but before the crystals are vacuumed helps to purify the crystals and get rid of some impurities. Melting the crystals can determine the purity of the product that was made. When performing the experiment, salicylic acid will be in a flask and in a water bath. It is important that it sits in the water bath for at least eight minutes but no more than ten minutes. If it is in the water bath for more than ten minutes, the salicylic acid could decompose. The purpose of this experiment was to determine the presence of salicylic acid and starch in acetylsalicylic acid. The presence of salicylic acid can be determined by performing a ferric chloride test. The presence of starch can be determined by performing an iodine test. In order to find the percent yield, the following formula was used: Percent yield= (Mass of product obtained experimentally)/(mass of product ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the original King Kong it is the lead actor in the movie that saves the damsel in distress but in the 2005 remake it is the scriptwriter that saves the female actress. This change is likely due to the recent trend of heroes coming from unlikely places. Studios know that if a movie does well the first time, it is likely to do well the second time and even the third time. King Kong is no exception. The tiny jellyfish is most famously known for the luminescent protein aequorin and the fluorescent molecule GFP or green fluorescent protein (Mills 1999). These two proteins have proven to be quite useful in biochemistry and biomedical research. More commonly used is green fluorescent protein, which has been used as a marker for geneexpression in various types of research. Green fluorescent protein was first recognized in the early 1960s by a group of researchers studying the bioluminescent properties of the Aequorea victoria jellyfish. They discovered that the jellyfish produces green bioluminescence from small photoorgans located on its umbrella. Osamu Shimomura found that in order to bioluminesce Aequorea releases calcium ions. These bind to a protein that he called aequorin, which release blue light upon calcium binding. The blue light is absorbed by green fluorescent protein, which in turn gives off the green light (Shimomura, O., Johnson, F. H. and Saiga, Y. 1962.) In 1987, Douglas Prasher was the first person to recognize the potential for Green fluorescent protein to be utilized as a tracer molecule. With the aid of GFP, researchers have developed ways to watch processes that were previously invisible, such as the development of nerve cells in the brain or how cancer cells spread. Tens of thousands of different proteins reside in a living organism, controlling important chemical processes in minute detail. If this protein machinery malfunctions, illness and disease often follow. That is why it has been imperative for bioscience to map the role of different proteins in the body. • 49. Factors Influencing Nursing Among Nurses Title: Factors influencing professionalism in nursing among nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. INTRODUCTION Statement of the problem Healthcare organizations in Saudi Arabia are very dependent on expatriate nurses to meet the demands of health staffing, a situation exacerbated by the current global nursing shortages and retention issues (Almalki, Fitzgerald, Clark, 2011). I propose to study the factors that influence the professionalism in nursing amongst nurses from different countries in a hospital in Saudi Arabia. I am particularly interested in this field as I have encountered nurses behaving unprofessionally in a hospital setting. According to Miller, Adams and Beck (1993), formal education in a university setting and education with a scientific background are critical for professionalism in nursing. A study done by Rees, Monrouxe, and McDonald (2015), expressed that while nursing students are shown professionalism through formal educational module, they ordinarily encounter workplace based professionalism dilemmas that are frequently created by registered nurses. Peer relationships in nursing is also important in maintaining the standards of professionalism (Padgett, 2013). Purpose of the study The purpose of the study is to determine the factors influencing professionalism in nursing among nurses in a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Theoretical framework The theoretical framework that I would use in this research paper is the Hall s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History Of The New Zealand Army Essay QUESTION 3: HOBBITON History: In 1998 was when it all started ,looking for the perfect area of land suitable for a village of Hobbits, Peter Jackson found the Alexanders family farm while he was on a aerial search suitable for what they needed with pristine rolling grasslands, like a slice of ancient England (Wikipedia TLOTR), looked as though Hobbits had already begun excavations (Alan Lee ,set decorator). After some negotiations were made with the Alexander family ,shortly after construction begun in March 1999 transforming the landscape into the set for Hobbiton. The New Zealand army also got involved bringing heavy machinery to build a 1.5 kilometer road from the nearest highway to the construction site. Peter Jackson wrote: I knew Hobbiton needed to be warm, comfortable and feel lived in. By letting the weeds grow through the cracks and establishing hedges and little gardens a year before filming, we ended up with an incredibly real place, not just a film set (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hobbiton_Movie_Set).So much detail went into creating the perfect atmosphere for the 37 Hobbit holes ,gardens and even hedges. In December 1999 filming commenced for The Lord of the Rings and lasted for three months. The set, originally built out of untreated timber, ply and polystyrene, was never meant to last, but only for the duration that was needed however it became a place of interest for tourist. Tours began in 2002, daily, for a two hour excursion across the 14 acre ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. What Is The Source Of Injustice In The Prince And The Pauper In The Prince and the Pauper the main source of injustice is from the monarchy that was controlled by King Henry VIII during 15th century England. Tom Canty and Edward Tudor( the prince) trade cloths and then released they looked very similar. They decided to trade places because they thought that they each had what the other wanted. They were separated while Tom Canty was posing as prince the king died and this put Tom Canty in power. The king has ruled a monarch based on the belief of divine right. Divine right is when a blood line considered godly by a group of people therefore that blood line can do what ever they want because God has given the there blessing. There are several characters that rise above the limits of there society to change it for the better. Tom Canty is one of the best examples of a character that rises above his society to better the people around him. The first example of this is when he refuses to beg he is better for it by his father but begging is agent the law. When he is posing as the king he pardons many people of crimes that they were unjustly charged with. He is also very honest about knot being the king even though know one believes him. When the real king shows up he gives him his title back. Toms honest and resilience are his main characteristics that help him rise above the society.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 52. Black Worms Lab There are two main types of toxicity, acute and chronic. Acute toxicity refers to a relatively high dose of a toxin given over a short period of time. Chronic toxicity is a relatively low dose of a toxin given over a longer time period. Acute toxicity is measured by the Lethal Dose 50 (LD50). LD50 is the dose of a specific substance that kills 50% of test organisms, and it varies from substance to substance. Toxin severity is due to intrinsic, within the body, and extrinsic, outside of the body, factors. When determining the effect of a toxin on an organism, it is important to compare the behavior of the organism exposed to a toxin to that of the same type of organism when not exposed to a toxin.
