Analysis of the Balcony Scene in Romeo and Juliet by...
Analysis of the Balcony Scene in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare Love is profound and
unconditional. Love is devotional and overwhelming but as for Romeo and Juliet , they are not
supposed to fall in love because they are sworn enemies. When Romeo and Juliet fall in love they are
aware of the risks they are taking but the feeling of love is powerful and Romeo is a romantic dreamer,
they are not afraid to fall deeply in love. The situation they find themselves in and the strength of their
love gives this scene the immense romantic appeal and fame . The scene is full of commotion,
dramatic tension and activity. Events accelerate towards tragedy. The lovers act like they are

Juliet says how her love resembles the sea. My bounty is as boundless as the sea , my love as deep ,
the more I give to thee , the more I have, for both are infinite . This statement refers to her love as
deep as the sea and the more she gives, the more she receives. The love they have for each other is
compared to as sweet as roses and birds that sing. They are all things to do with nature signifies purity
and beauty . Romeo describes Juliet as a light in darkness. It makes Juliet sound more beautiful and
shows how to Romeo, Juliet stands out from everything. But soft, what light through yonder window
breaks? It is the east , and Juliet is the sun . She is his source of light. Their love is also referred to
radiant and life giving as the sun. Shakespeare uses religious image to describe . He makes it seem
sacred, pure and holy. It transcends our human existence. Romeo calls Juliet a saint and a bright angel
. Shakespeare uses these images to show us that Romeo does not just love Juliet, he worships her. He
mentions phrases like eyes in heaven signifying her beauty , baptised when all sins are washed away
therefore one becomes holy and receives new life. The description of her as a messenger of heaven
makes her seem like she is special and as if she was god sent . All these pure and spirit that Romeo
compares her to shows how sincere and genuine he is

Summary Of 1 And 2 Kings By Jeremiah
The books of 1 and 2 Kings were written by Jeremiah who lived around 627 BC. The books were
written with messages of repentance, but these messages were not received well as his hometown
persecuted him. Kings was written to the Israelites trying to explain their fate. The book is more of a
warning because of the peoples abandonment of their faith, or apostasy. Jeremiah wants the people to
be restored to the days when David ruled Israel. The Old Testament in general is filled with prophecy
and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The book of 1 Kings gives this message in the form of
lessons, metaphors and other interpretations. In this passage Elijah went into a cave to take shelter
from the harsh weather. Elijah had just walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of Horeb or
the mountain of God. He took this journey because he was fleeing Jezebel who was trying to have
Elijah murdered because of his faith. While in the cave Elijah heard the Lord speaking to him. The
Lord told Elijah to walk out of the cave after Elijah presented his worries to God. Elijah quickly
noticed that he could not hear the Lord in the wind or earthquake or fire. Rather, Elijah could hear the
Lord as a whispering sound. Elijah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of this use of metaphor can be seen in verse 11 of chapter 19 in 1 Kings, Then the LORD
said: Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD (1 Kings 19:11). To stand before the LORD
means, not literally to stand, but to lessen yourself in the presence of God. This metaphor means to
serve the Lord, or being a servant of God. Standing before God is being vulnerable, honest and open,
letting God work in you. This means allowing God in your life. For Elijah this was alluding to him
returning to Damascus and appointing new kings of Israel and Aram. In this passage God is telling
Elijah to trust in Him and have faith, that His plans are above all other

The Educational Journey Essay
The Educational Journey
Education is a journey through the universe. The universe is enormous and seems to have no end. If a
person wants to be truly educated, he or she must spend years in school studying both important and
trivial information. The material in the solar system represents the years a student spends in school.
The remaining space in the universe is the endless learning one does outside of the classroom.
The sun may not be in the center of the universe; however, the sun is the central core of the
educational journey. The sun is where the educational journey begins. The elementary school years,
kindergarten through fifth grade, are important years for the student. The elementary school grades are
the years where a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Thomas argues that boys often have a hard time in the classroom when their
teacher is female. According to Tony Moody, in Thomas article, instead of encouraging the boys,
female teachers may ridicule them for their aggressive behavior. This constant chastising is seen by
male students and their parents as a lack of respect for the male student (121). However, Moody first
came to this conclusion with the experience of his own son. Can a person who uses his own son as an
example be taken seriously? After all, there are not many parents in this wold who will admit that their
son or daughter could possibly be a troublemaker. Most parents are in denial, believing that their child
is a perfect angel. I have experienced this numerous times when talking to parents about their children.
Yet, students must get past this so called bias and grasp the concepts that will be the basis of the rest of
their knowledge. Once a student has the basic concepts, the space shuttle can be boarded for the tour
of the terrestrial planets.
The terrestrial planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These four planets are the planets that are
closest to the sun. Terrestrial means earthlike; therefore, these planets are all earthlike because they
have a solid ground. The terrestrial planets are the middle school years. The knowledge learned here
orbits the sun. If the knowledge learned at the sun is not retained, a student may have a

Rap Music And Its Effects On Modern Music Industry
SOUTHERN RAP
Southern hip hop also referred to as southern rap originated from the southern cities like New Orleans,
Houston, Atlanta, Miami, Memphis, and Virginia Beach, just like the names implies. Rap music has
transformed modern music greatly during the decade of 1997 and 2007 (Dyson 61). The decade has
seen the southern artists rise to both national and international prominence. The southern cities have
churned up modern rap artists like Dwayne Michael (Lil Wayne), Clifford Joseph (T.I) and many
others .This papers aims to examine various artists, music and scholarly articles in analyzing rap
music in southern cities and its effects on modern music industry.

The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation
in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established
geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability
claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were
obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for
their own economic prosperity (63).
The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the
southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as
contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic
distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts
in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its
origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin
makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66).
Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based industries.
Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the characterization of rap

It refers to the practice of producers burning their mark or brand onto their products. This was to
signify ownership of a product or the origin of the product. Branding was first used to brand livestock.
The act of marking livestock with fire heated marks to identify ownership has origins in ancient times,
with use dating back to the ancient Egyptians. Under the law of animus revertendi according to Barron
s Law Dictionary it means With intention to return , during the European Middle Ages, it commonly

marketing tool. The industrial revolution, new communications and transport systems and the growth
in technology made it easier for companies to advertise brands over larger regions. Most importantly,
better means of transporting goods emerged. Manufacturers transported goods mostly by ship before
the late 19th century. As a result, large scale commercial branding was generally limited to regions
served by particular ports and companies near to those shipping points. The development of the

Meaning Of Happiness
There s no question that everyone wants to be happy within their lives. The only source of
disagreement lies within how one achieves happiness and what happiness really means. The authors
within the book Pursuing Happiness have their own meanings of happiness and what it takes to
achieve happiness. Topics such as: what happiness is, what brings happiness, what role does money
play in happiness, etc. In this first discussion, we see what the some of the authors have to say about
the meaning of happiness. Someone such as his Holiness the Dalai Lama would argue that happiness
is having peace and satisfaction within one s mind. As a tibetan monk, he believe that happiness
occurs within the self (Dalai Lama and Cutler 23). In contrast, Thomas Jefferson would explain that
happiness is actually the opportunity to freely choose one s path within life. Freedom, in eyes, would
be the embodiment of freedom (Declaration of Independence). In would also argue that happiness
stems from the feeling of self worth, that you have a place within this world. As we see here, the true
meaning of happiness all depends on the person. There is no right or wrong answer because we each
perceive happiness in a different manner. This is important because it also means that there are
different opinions in which someone can achieve happiness. When it comes to achieving happiness,
there are two things to consider; physical and spiritual. Some people believe that happiness can come
from material

Multicultural Education in the Classroom
The Benefits of Multicultural Education in the Classroom I have grown up with Education being my
catapult through life; I love it. I love to study children and figure out how they learn and how our
educational experiences shape us as adults. Five years ago, I found myself accepting a position as a
Toddler teacher in a government facility. To describe it simply, I was a fish out of water. I had
experience with children, but not with children so small. This experience taught me a great deal about
learning in our great world. I was amazed to witness the pure relationships between children of all
races in that little toddler room. All color aside, the children seemed to embrace each other s
differences and celebrate in their dedicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The substantial task of desegregation did not come without its struggles. Parents were faced with
issues of involvement in their child s education due to distance between their child s school and home.
Some schools reported vandalism and student frustration in regards to the change of scenery. In 2001,
busing for Charlotte students ended, but not without leaving a legacy. Since the termination of busing,
student test scores continue to rise, even surpassing those of other urban school districts such as Los
Angeles, Chicago, and Houston (NPR, 2004).
Though mandatory busing ended, school districts continue to encourage the multicultural movement
by providing magnet programs for families who would like their child to attend another school. The
concept is the same as busing; however, participation is voluntary. Economically, the gap is
narrowing, balancing our communities. Forty percent of African Americans consider themselves to be
middle class, seventy five percent own their own homes, and two parent households earn just thirteen
percent less than Caucasian parents (Thernstrom, 1998). There are improvements to be made as the
economy continues to control and group together families within the same income bracket. Many
times, this binds families to certain schools with no other options available. Statistics show that from
1993 to 2003, there was a similar outcome regarding the schools middle class families attended. Out

Biography of Booker T. Washington
Booker T. Washington is a famous African American educator, author, civil rights activist, and
philanthropist who is from Virginia (Wells). He is the man that promoted African American to rise
above their status of trying to be equal with Caucasians by promoting education and economic self
determination. Washington s life serves as an example of his philosophy or belief due to his
experience of knowing where African Americans started after the Civil War, where they were headed,
and resulted in changing their course to successful life. Booker T. (Taliaferro) Washington was born in
Franklin County, Virginia on April 5, 1865. He was born an interracial baby to Jane Ferguson. He
white father, who he never knew, was suspected to have lived on a nearby farm (Smock, 3). He was
born a slave and was owned by the Burroughs family. The cabin that he was born was considered a
rectangular box of 16 by 14 feet and served as kitchen where his mother cooked for his family and the
Burroughs family. This cabin, known as Booker T. Washington National Monument, is still preserved
can be visited and toured to day in Franklin County, Virginia. His childhood was not filled with play
but rather labor (Smock, 18). As a young child, four or five, he would do little chores, including
fetching items and operating a fan to keep the flies away from the food. As he grow older and
stronger, he would be assigned various task such as taking corn to the mill, giving water to the men in

The Life and Career of Robert E. Lee
Robert E. Lee Robert Edward Lee was born on January 19, 1807 in Stratford, Virginia. When he
joined West Point, he graduated second in his class and had a demerit free record (Pryor). After he
graduated from West Point, he enrolled into the Army in the Mexican American War. Once the Civil
War came across America, Lee took the position as a general for the Confederacy. He proved to be a
worthy general by winning the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, the Seven Days Battle, and
was almost victorious in the battle of Gettysburg (Emery 94 100). Because of Robert E. Lee s military
accomplishments in the Civil War, he became one of America s most outstanding generals. Robert E.
Lee was born in Stratford, Virginia, in 1807. His mother, Anne Carter Lee, stayed at home to clean and
feed her family while his father, Henry Lee III, was a politician. Because of financial issues, his father
went to debtor s prison. Because of the debt, his mother had to move from their mansion to a small
house in Alexandria. Once freed from prison, Henry left the United States and went to the Indies to
escape financial problems. Robert never saw his father again and when he was eighteen years old, he

The And Its Effect On The Nanoscale
Introduction
Nanotechnology is the study of particles on the nanoscale with, at least one dimension being less than
100nm. (Chen, Schluesener, 2008) Nanoscale particles can come in many shapes and sizes, ranging
from 100 1 nm. These particles can be found as rods, cones, spheres and many more complex matrices
and patterns as seen in figure 1.(Champion, Katare, Mitragotri, 2007) Nanosilver will form a roughly
spherical shape as can be seen in figure 2. (Utopia Silver Supplements, 2012)
In the medical industry there is high demand for antibacterial and antiseptic products, especially in
hospitals and other medical institutes. Antibacterial products fall into two categories, residue
producing, that provide a long lasting antibacterial action like triclosan, and non residue producing
which are generally fast acting and can rapidly kill bacteria and disappear quickly leaving no residues,
like alcohols. (APUA, 2014) But these are costly, time absorbing and inefficient to produce. (how
products are made, 2016) There is also the very real threat of superbugs.(antibacterial resistant
microbes) Silver Nanoparticles could produce a quick and cheap antimicrobial that conserves
resources.
Silver is the 47th element of the periodic table and has been known since greek times to have a healing
and antibacterial effect. More recently, silver has been used in world war 1 to prevent infections from
wounds. (Chen. et al, 2008) Now, because of nanotechnology people have created colloidal

Richard Rodriguez’s Challenging The Traditional Classroom...
Education is a wonderful asset to anyone. With a good one the sky is the limit, and without one
opportunity may never come knocking. In today s society, so much emphasis is put on education. How
many times have we heard the saying if you get a good education, you ll get a good job and make a lot
of money ? Even today, my parents remind me of how much a college degree would add to my
marketability. But when does it become too much? Is it possible that one could overlook the more
important values in life in search to become a learned man ? In Richard Rodriguez s story Challenging

As Rodriguez became more involved with his academics he drifted further away from his family. The
intimacy once shared between them was disappearing. He takes his first step toward academic
success, away from his family. . His family also understood the importance of education, as his
siblings did well in school, but were never so anxious about their schooling . Upon making sure that
her children learned English, Rodriguez s mother would tell them to maintain their Spanish. This was
obviously a hint to the children to remember their culture. While soaking in all his academics,
Rodriguez intentionally abandons his culture. He makes it obvious that he wants nothing to do with
his heritage by imitating the accents and diction of his teachers. He also doesn t participate in family
gatherings, which is evident when he tells us, Nights when relatives visited and the front rooms were
warmed by Spanish sounds, I slipped quietly out of the house . Rodriguez actually uses his academics
to move further away from his culture. He believes that being educated in academics will truly make
him successful, and like his teachers .
It s sad to think that one could put so much focus on education, and not see the importance of family
and heritage. These two things are what make us who we are, and despite what we go through, they
will remain unchanged (in most cases). Rodriguez learns this lesson first hand when he realizes the

Landscape Of Africville Analysis
Through exploring everyday life, geography is an essential discipline that is a central part of our
understandings of the world around us. An important part of geography deals with the relationship
between human activity and the physical aspects of where this activity takes place (Bryan, 1958). It is
important to then consider that these physical aspects can often be viewed as landscapes within our
society. The concept of landscape plays an important part within geography and this is a term that has
been associated with a way of seeing the natural world (Cosgrove, 1984). From a geographical
perspective, it is a concept embedded with visual aspects and appearance but also composed of
structure and functions. Although landscapes assist individuals ... Show more content on

Examining Sherene Razack s (2002) term, a white settler society , we are able to gain an
understanding that the province of Nova Scotia took part in being a white settler society in relation to
the Africville community. According to Razack (2002), aspects of a white settler society take place
when there is a racial hierarchy present and spaces are organized to maintain unequal social relations.
The landscape of this community was structured in this way because the community was
predominately of black individuals and therefore the inhabitants were not regarded as being an
important part of the city. This can be demonstrated through the ways in which the community of
Africville was treated by the government of Nova Scotia. For instance, during the time that Africville
was present, this community was denied of essential services in which Nelson (2000) explains,
requests for water lines and sewerage which would bring sanitation and quality of life closer to the
standards for the rest of the city were refused. Police and fire protection and garbage collection on par
with such services received by the rest of Halifax were denied. Living conditions were ironically
described by city officials as intolerable and unsanitary (p. 166). Thus, the landscape of Africville was
associated with being regarded as a slum within the society of Nova Scotia. A slum is referred to as
filthy, foul smelling, wretched, rancorous, uncultivated and lacking care (Nelson, 2000, p. 168). What
is important to take into consideration however, is that the community of Africville was racialized
against which resulted in the landscape being viewed as a slum. In addition, the government not only
denied the community access to basic necessities needed in order to maintain a healthy environment,
but continued to further racialize this community by placing a

The Personal Plan Of Action
Personal Plan of Action
According to Eric Sheninger, effective principals are instructional leaders, create a positive school
climate, employ quality teachers, are organized, has great communication skills, and has a sense of
professionalism. Many of these qualities are traits that I feel I have and are continually being
strengthened by the knowledge I acquire through my graduate courses and the role as FCIM
facilitator. I hope that through hard work and diligence I will receive an assistant principal
appointment in the next two years, and ultimately a principalship in the next five years.
As a principal, I will be a curriculum leader on my campuses, especially classroom instruction. I will
spend a high percent of my time walking the hallways, devoting the majority of my efforts to evaluate,

Outline the View That Crime Is Socially Constructed Essay
This essay will offer different definitions of crime, suggesting that it is a social construction as it
varies across culture, time and belief. It will examine the role of social construction, through
interpretation and meaning, in the identification, reporting and legal consequences of criminal acts.
After illustrating how fear, escalated by the media, can directly affect crime, it will conclude that
crime and its consequences are socially constructed. The obvious definition of crime is the legal
definition of an act which breaks the law. However, the Oxford English Dictionary extends this to
include an act which is ‘injurious to the public welfare An evil or injurious act; an offence, sin;
esp. of a grave character (Mooney et ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence suggests that the meaning attached to criminal acts influence the reporting, recording and
legal consequences. For example, quantitative evidence or data demonstrates a substantial increase in
crime until 1995 and an apparent slight decrease since then (Maquire, 1997, p.158). Qualitative
evidence questions this by suggesting that crime is greatly under reported for reasons such as the
feeling that the crime was not serious enough. In contradiction, Maguire (1997) suggests that there is
an increased reporting of crimes, for example, through having greater access to a telephone. In relation
to conviction, Eitzen (1986, p.427) demonstrates that white collar crime and street crime carry
different legal penalties, thus illustrating the different meanings they hold.
Today concerns are often expressed about the increasing magnitude and changing nature of crime,
which can lead to the perception that life was better in the past. Geoffrey Pearson (1983) suggests that
this is one example in the history of ‘respectable fears which, it is argued, are a result of a decline in
the stability of social structures, shared morality and values witnessed in, for example, the increase in
single parent families. Cohen (1973) suggests that societies do, periodically, experience these social
fears or ‘moral panics when something or someone is

My Father Is A Hero Or Villain Essay
My Father: Hero or Villain? A stranger once questioned my thirteen year old self, Would you rather

responded an easy life. Ever since I was able to realize right from wrong, my immature mind always
struggled understanding why bad things happen to good people and why our world can t be at peace.
Or why must my body react anxiously? Or why my parents are divorced? Now, only God has the
answers to all these questions. However, God simply wants YOU to figure out the obstacles on your

The Lives of Working Children from Labouring Families at...
At the end of the Nineteenth century life was difficult for labouring classes due to the constant long
hours of manual labour, the financial problems from the low pay, and the stresses of pandemics across
the country. Working Children/Adults had difficult lives because their jobs were usually severely
energy consuming and in extremely bad cases some developed deformities due to their ruthless
occupations. Additionally, family life could be difficult due to the insufficient wages and therefore a
possibly inadequate amount of food. Luxuries were also scarce among the family and dependent on
their jobs, families would rarely see one and other. Housing was also huge issue in the industrial
revolution due to the highly populated cities where there were small but populated and cramped
houses spreading diseases very quickly. The lives of working children from labouring class families at
the end of Nineteenth century were hard, tough and strenuous. Children normally had to work because
not enough money was being made in their family however the factories preferred to employ orphans
because there were many in the orphanages and they could be easily replaced if an accident was to
happen. Additionally, although these jobs did not earn much, it was normally enough to buy them a
meal (under 11 year old boys in Lancashire received 2s3d). Children were necessary to do small jobs

My Experience At Ceo And What She Is It Through Hard Work...
I m in this job because I believe I earned it through hard work and high performance. Did I get some
opportunities early in my career because of my race and gender? Probably...I went to work for a
company that was openly seeking to diversify its workplace. So, I imagine race and gender got the
hiring guys attention. And then the rest was really up to me Ursula
Burns, Chairwoman and CEO of Xerox (Byrnes and Crockett, 2009).
These previous words by Ursula Burns display her resilience to prove her worth to the business world,
regardless of her gender and the color of her skin. The basic idea of this case was to display the
significance of Burns helm at CEO and what she has done to attempt in making Xerox the leading
company in its industry again. In terms of breaking diversity barriers, Burns became the first African
American woman to lead a major U.S. corporation and the first CEO to take the reins from another
woman, which was Anne M. Mulcahy (Byrnes and Crockett, 2009). However, Burns had been a staple
at Xerox, working at various influential roles over the past few decades. From starting as an summer
intern at Xerox in 1980, to working in the custom systems division in the 1980 s, to holding the
general manager and vice president worldwide manufacturing position in the late 1990 s, and finally
being groomed by Mulcahy to eventually become Xerox s CEO, Burns built up a resume full of a

Music and Poetry
Music and Poetry
The poetry of William Wordsworth initiated the Romantic Era by emphasizing emotion, intuition, and
pleasure rather than form and affectation. His poems set the stage for John Keats, a central figure in
early 19th century Romanticism. The fundamental themes in the works of both poets include: the
beauty of nature; the consanguinity of dreams/visions and reality and yet the tendency of dreams to
mask reality; the intense emotions brought about by beauty and/or suffering; and the transience of
both sensation and human life. Although William Wordsworth and John Keats wrote poetry with
entirely different senses of purpose, they came together in the worship of a song that each found in
nature. Both Wordsworth and Keats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wordsworth s persona in The Solitary Reaper explores the limitations of language as he watches the
maiden in the field, enthralled by her melancholy strain (6). Unable to know of what she sings, he is
forced to rely only on musical characteristics to influence his reaction. Such things as tone, quality,
audible key, and tempo make it possible for one to grasp the essence of music. Although the maiden s
words flow from her lips in Gaelic, the persona is able to identify the emotions underlying her song
from the melodic nature of the lines she sings. Will no one tell me what she sings? Perhaps the
plaintive numbers flow For old, unhappy, far off things . . . Or is it some more humble lay, Familiar
matter of to day? Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain, That has been, and may be again?
Whate er the theme, the maiden sang As if her song could have no ending; (lines 17 25)
Wordsworth s persona s reliance on the melancholy sound of the maiden s song also forces him to
open his mind and his ears, leaving him free from any possible language based influence and entirely
enraptured by the sheer loveliness of the lass s simple, soul filled music.
John Keats wrote his Ode to a Nightingale in the typical style

The Chocolate War is a novel about a freshman boy named Jerry Renault going against the normalcy
of school life and deciding not to sell the chocolate bars. Jerry was given this assignment by a boy
named Archie Costello. Archie is a member of The Vigils, a group that makes assignments for a
certain person or group of people to do based on who they are and how they act. The odd thing about
Archie telling Jerry not to sell the chocolates is that Archie earlier told Brother Leon that The Vigils

Deconstructing of Forest and Woodland
Introduction
The definitions for the words forest and woodland are heterogeneous around the world and are
circumscribed to each country´s structural stands in local eco regions.
Countries as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, India, Japan, Mexico or US, with a great
diversity of climates and soil conditions attributable to their large land extensions and altitude
gradients (Borja Jimenez et al. 2013), can be identified as territories with high variety of forests and
woodlands.
The great diversity and diffuse thresholds among ecosystems difficult construction of criteria for their
classification into inventories and application of management and conservation policies.
Box Fujiwara (2013) differentiate forests from woodlands: forest is an ecosystem dominated by tall
trees, in a closed structure (considered closed when tree crowns are touching) and woodland is an
ecosystem dominated by tall or short trees with an open distribution.
The etymology of both words has different meanings according to the language. In Chinese, 森林
(sēnlín), the first character, sēn (also mori in Japanese) means tree , forest , dark , gloomy ; the second
character, lín, means forest , grove , thicket , wood . Differently, 林地 (líndì) means wood (first
character) land (second character). It also means holt that means little forest . The word bosque in
Spanish derives from the German word busch meaning bush , shrub , jungle . Different from English,

Why Did The Ming Dynasty Dominate The World

Despite the great achievements of the Ming Dynasty, why did China fail to dominate the world?
History is full of unpredictable incidences, instability and uncertainties. It is quite difficult to foretell
the condition of our world s economic, social and political affairs for the upcoming decade. Anything
and everything is possible. A perfect example of such an occurrence is the inability of China to
dominate the world. What was it that led to China s descent and its declining grip over achieving

How were the people convinced so thoroughly about China becoming the world ruler ? The Ming
dynasty, reigning from 1368 to 1644, is one of the greatest empires in the history of China. It was the
time when China had reached its pinnacle of glory by developing the most advanced navigation
technologies, largest and the most powerful military system, defence mechanisms, warfare tactics,
improving trade as well as social relations with the western world by cultural and material exchanges
such as books, literature, silk and porcelain. It was China who invented the paper making methods,
gunpowder, compasses and printing technique. These inventions preceded the development of science
and technology to its peak. It was only then that the western world acquainted itself to such
advancements. The Great Wall of China is a marvellous architecture, completed in the Ming dynasty,
which protected China from its northern invaders, especially the Mongols. Other such constructions
include the Forbidden City and the restoration of the Grand Canal. Zheng He, during the Ming
dynasty, set out on voyages with 7000 fleets to explore trade and set Chinese sovereignty in the minds
of the outside world. Invasions on China were very difficult, so thinking about conquering it was
simply out of the question. The fall of the Ming dynasty was due to a lot of internal conflicts, natural

Mythical Norm Affects The Construction Of Identity For...
The Mythical Norm affects the construction of identity for Ethnic Minority women. The Mythical
Norm is considered to be what is socially acceptable of an ideal man and woman based on many
factors including race, gender, class, and age. The Ethnic Minority women usually play the inferior
role in society, while the male plays the dominant role and promotes the idea of being superior. The
unit demonstrates the position women are perceived throughout society as they are forced to hide their
own beliefs and capabilities to satisfy the needs of the men. Without the woman s consent, they are
being taught to satisfy the men s standards to become the ideal woman. For example, in Invisibility is
an Unnatural Disaster: Reflections of an Asian American Woman by Mitsuye Yamada when she
recognizes how Asian American woman is lulled into believing that people perceive her as being
different from other Asian women (the submissive, subservient, ready to please, easy to get along with
Asian woman), she is kept comfortably content with the state of things. This is an ordinary example of
how the Mythical Norm comes back in place with the Ethnic Minority women. In this case, the
Mythical Norm plays a role in an Asian American woman s life as if she is being controlled by the
men in her life since in her cultural background the ideal women are to be the caretaker in the
household and nothing more. As well as in American Indian Women Managers: Living in Two Worlds

gregarious and live in social groups of 2 25 individuals (the average group size is ten). 3. Belugas are
unique among cetaceans in that the vertebrae in their necks are not fused together. This gives their
heads added manueverability.
2) The beluga whale, or Delphinapterus leucas, is the only member of its genus. It shares the
Monodont family with one other species, Monodon monoceros, otherwise known as the narwhal.
They are in the sub order Odontoceti, which contains 74 species, and the order Cetacea, which
contains 89. This in turn is part of the mammalian clade Cetartiodactyla.
3) Beluga whales are born dark gray, but within 8 years their coloration changes to a distinctive white.
The species sexually dimorphic, whith males roughly 25% larger than females. Males weigh between
1,100 and 1,600 kg and are 3.5 5.5 m in length. Females range between 700 and 1,200 kg, and
between 3 and 4.1 m in length. They are Arctic and sub Arctic, inhabiting the Arctic ocean and its
adjacent seas. Belugas are adapted to a range of habitats including open oceans, shallow coasts, ice
flats, and warm water estuaries. Some populations migrate annually while others remain in an area
year round. The global population is estimated between 60,000 and 80,000 individuals.

Wisdom is the reward for surviving our own stupidity, said Brian Rathbone, author of countless
number of books. This universal idea about development in people is also depicted in literary works.
Authors of literary pieces strive to portray how character s development in their story correlates with
humans in the real world developing through possibly bizarre past experiences. In Mark Twain s The
Adventure of Tom Sawyer and Judith Cofer Ortiz s Abuela Invents the Zero, the characters are faced
with their own internal conflicts while facing people they encounter in certain circumstances.

Characterization Of Fagin In Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens
BAB I
INTRODUCTION
1. Victorian period
Victoria s long reign saw a growth in literature, especially in fiction, practiced notably by Dickens,
Thackeray, the Brontës, George Eliot, Trollope, James, and Hardy. Victorian is a term that is often
extended beyond the queen s reign (1837 1901) to include William IV s reign from 1830. Historian
distinguishes early, middle, and late Victorian England, corresponding to periods of growing pains, of
confidence in the 1850s, and of loss of consensus after 1880, a date which offers a convenient
division: Charles Dickens (1812 70), and Oscar Wilde (1854 1900) belonged to different ages.

shriveled Jew with a villainous looking and repulsive face. Victorians stereotyped the Jews as

Economic Sustainability And The Problems Facing The Global...
All humans are economical by nature. We are constantly thinking socially, ethically and politically. We
are constantly at a crossroads between which decisions to make. Almost all of our decisions are driven
by economic considerations leading humans to be considered as economically rational. Which option
will provide us with the most net benefit either in the long or short term. However, these choices are
not always the right choice. Economics is the study of these choices but in the context of this essay it
is on a larger scale than regular human choice. This essay aims at discussing the importance of
economic sustainability and whether or not it is compatible with ecological sustainability through
comparisons of countries with a high Gross Domestic Product and their quality of life. The main idea
behind this research question is whether or not the amount of ecological destruction for human needs
matches the amount of consumption currently occurring globally; insinuating that mans need is far
less than the destruction for mans greed.
Ecological Sustainability: Importance and the problems it faces
One of the biggest problems facing the global population of the world today is ecological
sustainability. Ecological sustainability is when the rates in which renewable resources are harvested,
population is increases and non renewable resources are depleted can be continued indefinitely. If all
of these aspects cannot be continued indefinitely then ecological sustainability

which made the music of hip hop spread at the Arab streets is a domination of American culture

One reason the witches have the most power is because Macbeth went on this journey of self

includes Comte De Guiche, Ragueneau, Le Bert, Liniere, and some others. These characters were
replaced in the movie by fire fighters working under Cyrano. The character Dixie is included in the
movie but not in the book; Dixie is Cyrano and Roxanne s best friend who owns a restaurant. The
setting is based in towns in both the movie and book. However, the book s setting was in a rural
France and the movie takes place in a modern suburban in America. The time period in the book was
1640 and the time in the movie was in present day. The conflict is similar at the beginning of both
stories. Cyrano loves Roxanne, but Roxanne loves Christian who does not know how to talk to her.
Therefore, Christian has Cyrano write letters to Roxanne pretending that Christian really wrote the
letters. Cyrano feels that his big nose makes him ugly, and no one could ever love him. The ending of
the story changes in the movie from the book. In the book, Christian is killed in the war. Cyrano never
tells Roxanne that he wrote the letters and ends up dying at her side fourteen years later. In the movie,
Roxanne leaves to go to a convention instead of Christian leaving for war. Christian ends up meeting a
new woman and ends up leaving with her, while

My bounty is as boundless as the sea , my love as deep , the more I give to thee , the more I have, for both are infinite . • 3. Summary Of 1 And 2 Kings By Jeremiah The books of 1 and 2 Kings were written by Jeremiah who lived around 627 BC. The books were written with messages of repentance, but these messages were not received well as his hometown persecuted him. Kings was written to the Israelites trying to explain their fate. The book is more of a warning because of the peoples abandonment of their faith, or apostasy. Jeremiah wants the people to be restored to the days when David ruled Israel. The Old Testament in general is filled with prophecy and preparation for the coming of Jesus. The book of 1 Kings gives this message in the form of lessons, metaphors and other interpretations. In this passage Elijah went into a cave to take shelter from the harsh weather. Elijah had just walked forty days and forty nights to the mountain of Horeb or the mountain of God. He took this journey because he was fleeing Jezebel who was trying to have Elijah murdered because of his faith. While in the cave Elijah heard the Lord speaking to him. The Lord told Elijah to walk out of the cave after Elijah presented his worries to God. Elijah quickly noticed that he could not hear the Lord in the wind or earthquake or fire. Rather, Elijah could hear the Lord as a whispering sound. Elijah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of this use of metaphor can be seen in verse 11 of chapter 19 in 1 Kings, Then the LORD said: Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD (1 Kings 19:11). To stand before the LORD means, not literally to stand, but to lessen yourself in the presence of God. This metaphor means to serve the Lord, or being a servant of God. Standing before God is being vulnerable, honest and open, letting God work in you. This means allowing God in your life. For Elijah this was alluding to him returning to Damascus and appointing new kings of Israel and Aram. In this passage God is telling Elijah to trust in Him and have faith, that His plans are above all other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If a person wants to be truly educated, he or she must spend years in school studying both important and trivial information. The material in the solar system represents the years a student spends in school. The remaining space in the universe is the endless learning one does outside of the classroom. On the other hand, Thomas argues that boys often have a hard time in the classroom when their teacher is female. According to Tony Moody, in Thomas article, instead of encouraging the boys, female teachers may ridicule them for their aggressive behavior. This constant chastising is seen by male students and their parents as a lack of respect for the male student (121). However, Moody first came to this conclusion with the experience of his own son. Can a person who uses his own son as an example be taken seriously? After all, there are not many parents in this wold who will admit that their son or daughter could possibly be a troublemaker. Most parents are in denial, believing that their child is a perfect angel. I have experienced this numerous times when talking to parents about their children. These four planets are the planets that are closest to the sun. Terrestrial means earthlike; therefore, these planets are all earthlike because they have a solid ground. The understanding of the idea of the Dirty South and southern rap in general has found the articulation in stereotypes of the south: the emergence of the idea represented a shift in already established geographical imaginary of hip hop music which is bombarded with authenticity and marketability claims (59). Before the idea, southern cities were not completely excluded from rap, but they were obliged to stick to certain styles and conceptual limits so as to reach a wider music authenticity for their own economic prosperity (63). The period of Dirty south saw a substantial growth of major rap label investment in particular the southern cities (Taylor Virgil 251). Research studies have remarked the dirt south phenomenon as contradictory and paradoxical about its music and place (251). For some scholars, the stylistic distinctions between the produced music in different geographical areas are not avoidable to the shifts in economical and political context (Dyson 64). The connections between styles of music and its origin appear to be more organic because of the ways in which they are layered; the styles and origin makes meaning through repetition and establishment of implicit and explicit links (66). Since the emergence of Bronx in 1970s, rap industry has centrally focused with place based industries. Geography has played an important role in conception of authenticating the characterization of rap genre ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Meaning Of Happiness There s no question that everyone wants to be happy within their lives. The only source of disagreement lies within how one achieves happiness and what happiness really means. The authors within the book Pursuing Happiness have their own meanings of happiness and what it takes to achieve happiness. Topics such as: what happiness is, what brings happiness, what role does money play in happiness, etc. In this first discussion, we see what the some of the authors have to say about the meaning of happiness. Someone such as his Holiness the Dalai Lama would argue that happiness is having peace and satisfaction within one s mind. As a tibetan monk, he believe that happiness occurs within the self (Dalai Lama and Cutler 23). In contrast, Thomas Jefferson would explain that happiness is actually the opportunity to freely choose one s path within life. Freedom, in eyes, would be the embodiment of freedom (Declaration of Independence). In would also argue that happiness stems from the feeling of self worth, that you have a place within this world. As we see here, the true meaning of happiness all depends on the person. There is no right or wrong answer because we each perceive happiness in a different manner. This is important because it also means that there are different opinions in which someone can achieve happiness. When it comes to achieving happiness, there are two things to consider; physical and spiritual. Some people believe that happiness can come from material ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I love to study children and figure out how they learn and how our educational experiences shape us as adults. Five years ago, I found myself accepting a position as a Toddler teacher in a government facility. To describe it simply, I was a fish out of water. I had experience with children, but not with children so small. This experience taught me a great deal about learning in our great world. The substantial task of desegregation did not come without its struggles. Parents were faced with issues of involvement in their child s education due to distance between their child s school and home. Since the termination of busing, student test scores continue to rise, even surpassing those of other urban school districts such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston (NPR, 2004). Though mandatory busing ended, school districts continue to encourage the multicultural movement by providing magnet programs for families who would like their child to attend another school. The concept is the same as busing; however, participation is voluntary. Economically, the gap is narrowing, balancing our communities. Forty percent of African Americans consider themselves to be middle class, seventy five percent own their own homes, and two parent households earn just thirteen percent less than Caucasian parents (Thernstrom, 1998). Upon making sure that her children learned English, Rodriguez s mother would tell them to maintain their Spanish. This was obviously a hint to the children to remember their culture. • 14. Landscape Of Africville Analysis Through exploring everyday life, geography is an essential discipline that is a central part of our understandings of the world around us. An important part of geography deals with the relationship between human activity and the physical aspects of where this activity takes place (Bryan, 1958). It is important to then consider that these physical aspects can often be viewed as landscapes within our society. The concept of landscape plays an important part within geography and this is a term that has been associated with a way of seeing the natural world (Cosgrove, 1984). From a geographical perspective, it is a concept embedded with visual aspects and appearance but also composed of structure and functions. Although landscapes assist individuals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examining Sherene Razack s (2002) term, a white settler society , we are able to gain an understanding that the province of Nova Scotia took part in being a white settler society in relation to the Africville community. According to Razack (2002), aspects of a white settler society take place when there is a racial hierarchy present and spaces are organized to maintain unequal social relations. The landscape of this community was structured in this way because the community was predominately of black individuals and therefore the inhabitants were not regarded as being an important part of the city. This can be demonstrated through the ways in which the community of Africville was treated by the government of Nova Scotia. For instance, during the time that Africville was present, this community was denied of essential services in which Nelson (2000) explains, requests for water lines and sewerage which would bring sanitation and quality of life closer to the standards for the rest of the city were refused. Police and fire protection and garbage collection on par with such services received by the rest of Halifax were denied. Living conditions were ironically described by city officials as intolerable and unsanitary (p. 166). Thus, the landscape of Africville was associated with being regarded as a slum within the society of Nova Scotia. A slum is referred to as filthy, foul smelling, wretched, rancorous, uncultivated and lacking care (Nelson, 2000, p. 168). What is important to take into consideration however, is that the community of Africville was racialized against which resulted in the landscape being viewed as a slum. In addition, the government not only denied the community access to basic necessities needed in order to maintain a healthy environment, but continued to further racialize this community by placing a ... It will examine the role of social construction, through interpretation and meaning, in the identification, reporting and legal consequences of criminal acts. After illustrating how fear, escalated by the media, can directly affect crime, it will conclude that crime and its consequences are socially constructed. The obvious definition of crime is the legal definition of an act which breaks the law. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence suggests that the meaning attached to criminal acts influence the reporting, recording and legal consequences. For example, quantitative evidence or data demonstrates a substantial increase in crime until 1995 and an apparent slight decrease since then (Maquire, 1997, p.158). Qualitative evidence questions this by suggesting that crime is greatly under reported for reasons such as the feeling that the crime was not serious enough. In contradiction, Maguire (1997) suggests that there is an increased reporting of crimes, for example, through having greater access to a telephone. In relation to conviction, Eitzen (1986, p.427) demonstrates that white collar crime and street crime carry different legal penalties, thus illustrating the different meanings they hold. Today concerns are often expressed about the increasing magnitude and changing nature of crime, which can lead to the perception that life was better in the past. Geoffrey Pearson (1983) suggests that this is one example in the history of ‘respectable fears which, it is argued, are a result of a decline in the stability of social structures, shared morality and values witnessed in, for example, the increase in single parent families. Cohen (1973) suggests that societies do, periodically, experience these social fears or ‘moral panics when something or someone is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the end of the Nineteenth century life was difficult for labouring classes due to the constant long hours of manual labour, the financial problems from the low pay, and the stresses of pandemics across the country. Working Children/Adults had difficult lives because their jobs were usually severely energy consuming and in extremely bad cases some developed deformities due to their ruthless occupations. Additionally, family life could be difficult due to the insufficient wages and therefore a possibly inadequate amount of food. Luxuries were also scarce among the family and dependent on their jobs, families would rarely see one and other. Box Fujiwara (2013) differentiate forests from woodlands: forest is an ecosystem dominated by tall trees, in a closed structure (considered closed when tree crowns are touching) and woodland is an ecosystem dominated by tall or short trees with an open distribution. The etymology of both words has different meanings according to the language. How were the people convinced so thoroughly about China becoming the world ruler ? The Ming dynasty, reigning from 1368 to 1644, is one of the greatest empires in the history of China. It was the time when China had reached its pinnacle of glory by developing the most advanced navigation technologies, largest and the most powerful military system, defence mechanisms, warfare tactics, improving trade as well as social relations with the western world by cultural and material exchanges such as books, literature, silk and porcelain. It was China who invented the paper making methods, gunpowder, compasses and printing technique. These inventions preceded the development of science and technology to its peak. It was only then that the western world acquainted itself to such advancements. The Great Wall of China is a marvellous architecture, completed in the Ming dynasty, which protected China from its northern invaders, especially the Mongols. Other such constructions include the Forbidden City and the restoration of the Grand Canal. • 31. Mythical Norm Affects The Construction Of Identity For... The Mythical Norm affects the construction of identity for Ethnic Minority women. The Mythical Norm is considered to be what is socially acceptable of an ideal man and woman based on many factors including race, gender, class, and age. The Ethnic Minority women usually play the inferior role in society, while the male plays the dominant role and promotes the idea of being superior. The unit demonstrates the position women are perceived throughout society as they are forced to hide their own beliefs and capabilities to satisfy the needs of the men. Without the woman s consent, they are being taught to satisfy the men s standards to become the ideal woman. For example, in Invisibility is an Unnatural Disaster: Reflections of an Asian American Woman by Mitsuye Yamada when she recognizes how Asian American woman is lulled into believing that people perceive her as being different from other Asian women (the submissive, subservient, ready to please, easy to get along with Asian woman), she is kept comfortably content with the state of things. This is an ordinary example of how the Mythical Norm comes back in place with the Ethnic Minority women. In this case, the Mythical Norm plays a role in an Asian American woman s life as if she is being controlled by the men in her life since in her cultural background the ideal women are to be the caretaker in the household and nothing more. Victorian period Victoria s long reign saw a growth in literature, especially in fiction, practiced notably by Dickens, Thackeray, the Brontës, George Eliot, Trollope, James, and Hardy. Victorian is a term that is often extended beyond the queen s reign (1837 1901) to include William IV s reign from 1830. Historian distinguishes early, middle, and late Victorian England, corresponding to periods of growing pains, of confidence in the 1850s, and of loss of consensus after 1880, a date which offers a convenient division: Charles Dickens (1812 70), and Oscar Wilde (1854 1900) belonged to different ages. • 37. Economic Sustainability And The Problems Facing The Global... All humans are economical by nature. We are constantly thinking socially, ethically and politically. We are constantly at a crossroads between which decisions to make. Almost all of our decisions are driven by economic considerations leading humans to be considered as economically rational. Which option will provide us with the most net benefit either in the long or short term. However, these choices are not always the right choice. Economics is the study of these choices but in the context of this essay it is on a larger scale than regular human choice. This essay aims at discussing the importance of economic sustainability and whether or not it is compatible with ecological sustainability through comparisons of countries with a high Gross Domestic Product and their quality of life. The main idea behind this research question is whether or not the amount of ecological destruction for human needs matches the amount of consumption currently occurring globally; insinuating that mans need is far less than the destruction for mans greed. Ecological Sustainability: Importance and the problems it faces One of the biggest problems facing the global population of the world today is ecological sustainability.
