An Introduction Of Cave Paintings In Cosquer Cave
Introduction
Do you know anything about cave paintings? Well I am here to inform you about
them. For example, the majestic paintings of bison in Cosquer Cave. In Altamira
more beautiful animals of the Ice Age. In Lascaux too were majestic animals like
horse, deer, bison, etc. These facts are truly amazing. These caves are jewels of
mother nature. Also, about Carbon 14 Dating and how it works with its formulas.
Cosquer Cave
In 1985 a professional Scuba diver named Henri Cosquer discovered the cave.
Cosquer Cave is located in Ardeche department, on the Mediterranean coast close to
the Rhode river. The cave was discovered by accident when Henri was diving and
found an opening.
He kept a secret for many years and went to check it himself from time to time. He
trusted archaeologist Jean Clotte who was also a speleologist. Jean Clotte was a
speleologist and archaeologist he is very important in the government of France. He
called Jean Courtin who was a archaeologist and a professional diver he was also
very important. They didn t make the discovery public because the public could harm
the paintings.
They kept it a secret for 6 years. Later the French government found out about it and
told the public.
The paintings are of 10,000 years of difference. The animal paintings are +18,000
years old and the hand paintings are 28,000 years old. There is a huge difference of
time because the theory is that the cave was lost however, then it was rediscovered.
The cave was
Bill Of Rights Benefits
The first ten amendments to the United States Constitution make up the Bill of
Rights. It was created by James Madison in an effort to protect the rights and liberties
of individuals and to place restrictions on government power. The Bill of Rights
prevents the United States from slipping into a totalitarian government; delegates
power to the states; and promotes individual freedom. The Bill of Rights is beneficial
to the United States. A totalitarian government is one in which all power rests in the
central government. Throughout history our nation has worked to avoid a
government in which all power rests in one centralized place, that s part of why we
created the Constitution, to give some power for the states to delegate. The Bill of

What Are The Thirteen Colonies Obligated To Independence
The authors felt that the colonies were obligated to become free and independent
from the tyrannical King George III because of the many atrocities that were being
committed by his government at the time. Jefferson et al believed that the British
government had fallen away from their ideal of what a just government should be
like. The authors believed that there were certain rights that could never be taken
away and that everyone has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
According to Jefferson et al, whenever a government fails to uphold those rights, the
people should replace it with a new one. The Founders felt that the thirteen colonies
were not only obligated to break away from the tyranny of British rule, but also
Cambodia, Congo, And Jamaica
Case Study: Cambodia, Congo, and Jamaica
Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Jamaica are countries that
gained independence from European powers after World War II. Though located in
different regions of the world, and colonized by different European powers, these
countries experienced social unrest and economic challenges that remain. Key to
understanding these countries is understanding their histories and struggles, which
continue to have significant impact on conditions within these countries today.
Cambodia
Cambodia s history contrasts a glorious past with recent tragedy. Located in Southeast
Asia between Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia s history of conflict with its
neighbors and European colonialism has led to distrust and nationalism. Fear of
foreign occupation or being partitioned by its neighbors lingers in the Cambodian
national psychology. Once part of French Indochina, Cambodian gained independence
in 1953 when King Sihanouk convinced France that only complete independence
would undercut the appeal of communism in Cambodia.
The Khmer Empire began approximately 800 CE when King Jayavarman II
subjugated the small warring kingdoms around Tonle Sap Lake and expanded to
cover most of Thailand and Laos. Because of established trade routes, art and culture
were strongly influenced by India. Hinduism was the major religion in addition to
Buddhism, animist, and traditional religions. (Plubins 2013) The Khmer capital of

Placer Vs Quartz Mining Research Paper
Placer and Quartz Mining
Placer and quartz mining although very different can be similar.
Obviously the main objective is to find gold. Another way they are similar they are
destructive for hard rock mining they would blow up mountains for placer mining
they would put mercury in the water to help find gold destroying many useful
resources. The differences between these two types of mining are although placer
mining can involve a few people hard rock mining mostly involves a large group of
people and is run by large companies. Next, is refinement since the gold usually had
lots of dirt covering the miners would remove as much by shaking it. They would
probably send it through a strainer a couple times. with placer mining they would
smash the ore and extract the gold they then wash it twice and filter it. Then they

Then we have the rocker it is placed on a rocking legs and you feed it by hand then
rock it shaking out all the dirt and leaving the gold. Finally there is the sluice box
you would feed it with a sluice run water through it and rock it it had the same
principal as the rocker but larger and fed by a sluice. Now with hard rockmining if
miners found a large concentration of gold the miners would dig tunnels which
was very hard and take the chunks that had gold. The way mining affected the
economy in Montana was huge. Hard rock mining made tons of money mining
companies were thriving until the flow of gold inflated the money leaving the
mining corporations unable to make a profit. Placer mining did not have the
biggest effect on the economy but still prevalent it make much money because it
gold was very few and far between. There were quite a few mining towns in
montana but none of them were as great as these. Helena the capital of montana was
a top place tier for mining as well as Butte and Virginia

Stone Henge
It seems that the human race is infatuated with stones. Stones are used for jewelry,
architecture,1 statues, tombstones, and even printing. Printing on stone is called
lithography. Even the word stone has many uses in the english language: a criminal
can be stoned to death, and the British unit of weight is known as a stone. Going
back to prehistoric times, specifically the Neolithicperiod, may provide some
answers of why we as a species are so drawn to stone and its many uses. Relics from
the Neolithic period are large man made stone formations, known as megaliths, that
were built from 10,000 2,000 BCE. Some evolutionary step happened in this time
period where humans started to manipulate colossal stones into markers, alignments,
fanes,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of these stone circles no longer stand, like the ones at Carnac. Stone Henge, the
most famous of the megaliths, is located in Wiltshire, England, and was built around
3000 2000 BC. The biggest stones at Stone Henge are the sarsen stones, averaging
height about 30 feet and weight 25 tons. The sarsen stones make up the posts and
lintels at the site, meaning that upright stones hold the flat stones on top of them.
Smaller stones, known as bluestones, make up the inner circle of Stone Henge,
usually weighing around 4 tons. Stone Henge s architecture lines up with
astronomical events, like the Summer Solstice. On the Summer Solstice, the sun rises
behind a marker stone, known as the Heel Stone. The sun s rays shine through the
posts that align perfectly with the Heel Stone, creating a powerfully aligned image. A
ditch surrounding the megalithic site contains human remains, some of which have
been identified as humans from other places, not just people native to the area.
There are remains of a metal worker that4 lived in Germany around 3000 BCE and
a little boy from the Mediterranean that was buried around 5000 BCE. This suggests
that people may have pilgrimaged here as a place for burial. It seems that the
neolithic people that built Stone Henge had a vast knowledge of astronomy,
architecture, and engineering. It is largely believed that this colossal site was
primarily used for religious ceremonies that took taking place with astronomical
The Five Characteristics Of Japanese Culture
Japan Culture
SSG Lomberk, Michael
SLC 501 17
Culture is a specific set of morals and values that distinguish a group of individuals
from another. The five characteristics that define a culture are that culture is learned,
shared with others, based on symbols, it s integrated throughout a nation and lastly
can have dynamic. Culture is learned, we primarily see culture taught in adolescent
years through our peers, school, family, and even sometimes the media. Your
upbringing has an impact on your culture. Culture often shared, it s a social construct.
To learn a language, behavior, or even a tradition we must interact with other people,
thus making culture shared. Culture is also sometimes based on symbols. We in
America know that the flag, red, white, and blue is a symbol of the United States, this
a part of our culture. Culture is integrated, it s brought to wherever you may go in the
world, it s usually mixed with other cultures which make culture integrated. Culture is
also dynamic; your culture can always modify slightly, it can always change.
Japanese culture is a complex system of different layers of morals and values. In
Japan, they have a huge range of different morals and values that make Japan unique
in its culture. When we think of Japanese culture, Samurai warriors and sushi, come
to mind, but there s so much more about the culture than that. The capital of Japan is
Tokyo, the population of Japan is one hundred and twenty seven million.

Why I Want To Be A Veterinarian Essay
There are several professions that allow for an individual to succeed at doing
something they love to do. For example, computers, the health of others, working
cars, and even writing can lead to successful careers. The profession of veterinary
allows people how love to opperiate with animals to do just that. An individual
pursuing a career in Veterinary would want to go to a school like University of
California (UC Davis). As a student interested in being a Veterinarian , I want to go
to University of California (UC Davis)because their history as a university farm.
The decision to be a Veterinarian has been influenced by several different factors
and reasons. The first reason for my passion for Veterinary is the ability to help
animals who need it a lot. As a kid growing up, I would try to kill my dog elmo,
because I thought he was dying. Also, The hard process a veterinarian goes
through, allows for professional growth of knowing what to do to help animals
.Growing up I still want to be a veterinarian and there are many schools that help
with that. Veterinary would allow me to help animals almost everyday. Finally,
Veterinary can influence people who want to know about animals to know what to

The Lost Boy Drawing Was Influenced By Pali
The Lost Boy drawing was influenced by the short story Pali. I chose to do this
project on Pali because, I found this short story the most interesting compared to the
other readings. Plus, once you started reading it, it was hard to stop. The Lost Boy
drawing represents Pali a young boy of a Hindu family. Pali loses his familywhen
they are boarding the lorries to leave the refugee camps. The lorries are represented
in the drawing, because this is where the story of Pali all started. In the drawing, Pali
is the main focal point similar to the short story. Also in the drawing, Pali is raising
his hands and crying for help, Pitaji! Pitaji! (pg. 59), which means father in Hindu. I
chose this quote because, Pali is like a lost boy in an unfamiliar... Show more content

Pali is appalled by this, and cries. The social worker states, You are a Hindu boy
(pg. 70). This quote was used for the drawing because, Pali is going from Hindu to
Muslim back to Hindu. The Hindu community did not appreciate how Pali still
used Muslim traditions, instead of Hindus. The transition from Muslim back to
Hindu is the hardest since Pali was Muslim from four to eleven years old, which
was most of his life at the time. This also ties in with the drawing of the Muslim
hat versus the Hindu hat, and how the Hindu s and Muslim s are arguing which
religion Pali should be. My image relates to the reference Conflict: Hindus and
Muslims in the book The Indians, because it explains all the differences and
thoughts that each religion has on each other. In Conflict: Hindus and Muslims it
talks about the violence between the religions and how it all started. Similar to the
short story of Pali. Pali shows the conflict on the two religions, by an actual story of
him being Hindu and Muslim. All in all, I really enjoyed reading the story about
Pali, and it really taught me every day struggles of Indians and their religions, Hindu

How I Build A Successful Website
How to build a successful website!
If you re a webmaster or a website owner, this article is for you: These 10 tips can
help you to build better and more successful websites. We suggest to hire a web
developer if you can t write the HTML source code. Even if you re able to create a
website on your own, it s often to separate the technical stuff from the marketing part.
Each website project starts with a plan
Write down your ideas to have a plan and think about which sections in your
website project are required. Think about which categories you need for your
products or services, you need those very soon for the keyword analysis. If possible
sketch a simple diagram, this will help you later to remember how your first website
s structure was planned.
Keyword analysis, do some research which keywords need to be used to find your
website
Traffic from Google or other search engines is great for conversions on your
website. To get your site in Google s search results you need to know which
keywords are used by your customers. By using the Google Adwords Keyword Tool
it s possible to find the most popular keywords. Access the tool and enter 3 5
important keywords which are related to your product or service. From the
generated list of keywords it s not smart to select those with the highest search
volume because it s very hard to compete with existing and more established
websites. Go for the keywords with a higher volume and check for each of them the

Literature Review: Does Biological Motion Transmit Information About the
Emotional States of Others?
Actors and normal people alike, have exploited the ability to display emotion through
body movement for centuries. However, until not long ago, psychologists considered
body movements only as displays of the intensity of emotions not their specificity.
Instead, facial expressions were thought to be crucial for the judgement of emotions
(Ekman, 1973). It was not until the second half of the twentieth century that research
into biological motion illustrated that emotional state can be judged by body
movement, even if only basic emotions such as anger or happiness. However, the
evolutionary function of humans ability to express emotion was suggested a whole
century earlier by Darwin (1872).
According to Darwin (1872), each basic emotion has a combination of postures,
expressions and gestures and the ability to recognise emotions has an adaptive
advantage. Following on from this theory, Walk (1984), later proposed the alarm
hypothesis which states that the emotions of anger and fear are more readily
recognisable in order to aid survival. Several of the following studies have addressed
this theory. This review will examine the literature into the human ability to detect the
emotional state of others through biological motion as further insight could help
people with impaired social functions, such as those suffering from autism or
schizophrenia. The following areas will be
Popular Music In The 1920 s
Music has been widely popular throughout America since the nation s creation, but
ever since the 1920 s, it has become a daily part of our culture. Over the decades,
new genres have been created, each as equally popular. Some examples would be
jazz, blues, many kinds of rock, surf music, folk, soul, country, funk, disco, electronic,
and hip hop. Without music, today s world would be very different. That s why it s
safe to say that music has heavily influenced American society over the years. The
beginning of popular music started with Jazzin the city of New Orleans. Around the
year of 1900, many of the brothels in the district of Storyville, located in New
Orleans, were employing low income African American musicians to play their music,

The leaders of this genre were all white teenagers from poor southern backgrounds.
The most iconic artist of Rockabilly was Elvis Presley who moved from house to
house, several times throughout his childhood. Other famous Rockabilly artists
included Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis. They all
grew up poor and managed to combine the two most popular forms of southern
music, blues and country. In 1953, Sun Records, a declining R B record label,
ended up finding Elvis Presley who instantly became a star due to the fact that he
was the first white man who perfected singing the R B genre. He soon gained a
massive fanbase of teenage girls who tore apart his clothes after every concert.
Even most African American teens loved him. One of the reasons teenage girls
loved him so much was because of his famous hip and leg shaking. In 1956, Jerry
Lee Lewis, nicknamed The Killer , joined Sun Records where he combined R B
with country on piano. At first he wasn t very successful, but then he appeared on
The Steve Allen Show on July 28, 1957 where he ended up kicking the piano stool
into the audience while shaking his hair and banging on the keys like a madman.
After that, he ended up topping the charts with Great Balls of Fire . Carl Perkins,
whose music was very similar to Elvis , was possibly the greatest Rockabilly
guitarist of the time. Known for his hit, Blue Suede Shoes , he almost became as
famous as Elvis. Though this all changed when he got into a car accident on March
22, 1956 where he broke his collarbone, thus putting his career on hold. After this,
Elvis recorded a popular version of Blue Suede Shoes and Perkins seemed to fade
away, being more known for his songwriting than for his performing. The fourth Sun
Records Rockabilly star was Johnny Cash, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Even

The Problem Of Bad Debts
INTRODUCTION
The accumulation of huge NPA in banks has assumed great importance. The depth
of the problem of bad debts was first realised only in early 1990s. The magnitude of
NPAs in banks and financial institution is over Rs. 150000 cr.
So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the
actual burden of banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are
the big borrowers coming from the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic
approach.
Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate
the banking industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with
the private sector banks. This raises a concern in the industry and academia because
it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the profitability of a banks, weaken its financial
health and erode its solvency.
For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of
NPA under which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring.
Banks and FIs have the freedom to design and implement their own policies for
recovery and write off incorporating compromise and negotiate settlements.
DEFINITION
An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to
generate income for the bank.
A non performing asset (NPA) was defined as a credit facility in respect of which
the interest and/ or instalment of principal has remained past due for a specified
period of time.

The scale of ERASMUS programme is certainly impressive: Having started in 1987
with the small number of 3244 students from 11 countries; today ERASMUS enables
around 230,000 students per year to spend three to twelve months abroad in order to
pursue enriching learning experiences in other countries . By now, close to three
million students from more than 4000 higher education institutions all over Europe
have participated in ERASMUS, making the programme the best known and largest
exchange programme in the world as the EU itself emphasizes.
The programme plays an important role in promoting the idea that Europeans, are all
alike and foster trust and feel closer to Europeans. Moreover, the Programme has also
an impact on the society, which interacts with ERASMUS students (both the host
country during the ERASMUS exchange and the home country when mobile students
accomplish the programme). Moreover, exchange students can have an impact on the
society they belong to. European identity should be promoted in non mobile students,
therefore exchange of information about Erasmus programme is essential.
At national levels, Erasmus program increased the awareness of national
governments towards the importance of internationalization, influencing national
policy adoption in supporting its development, and also supporting similar programs
at national level like Erasmus Belgica in Belgium that encourages

The love I have for orangutans comes from an early age. Like most little sisters, my
older brother ruthlessly teased me. When I was a baby he would make me mimic
funny faces and stick my hair up on end. He said I looked like an orangutan. His
teasing continued, but instead of getting mad, I became interested. I began taking a

Unfortunately, this is no longer the case, and natives are stripping away these
creatures habitats for commercial business. If things don t change, it is believed that
orangutans will be extinct in the wild in as few as ten years. This is something that
can only be changed with human intervention.
Two major causes of orangutan endangerment are the illegal selling of baby
orangutans and the unlawful logging of the rainforest in which they live. The bond
between a mother orangutan and her baby is the longest childhood dependence of
any animal in the world. Orangutans will only have one child about every eight
years. Baby orangutans nurse until they are about six years old and then they still
stay close to their mothers for a few more years. Female orangutans will sometimes
stay with their mother until their adolescents, in order to learn how to take care of
their own babies by watching their mothers take care of a younger sibling.
The already low natural population increase makes any killing a major threat to the
survival of the species. Because babies stay with their mother for so many years, the
only way to capture one is to kill the mother. Although highly illegal, baby orangutans
are being sold as family pets as a high commodity on the black market. When the

Explain The Motives Of British Imperialism In Africa
Motives for British Imperialism in Africa
Before the Europeans began the New Imperialism in Africa, very little was known
about the inner parts of the continent. However, after some explorers delved deeper
into the heart of Africa, the Europeans soon realized how economically important this
area was, and how much they could profit from it. At the time, Britain had only small
occupations of land in Africa, but after they realized that they could make money
from the rich resources from the inner regions of Africa, they wanted to invade the
African countries and take over. This led to the scramble and ultimately, the partition
of Africa. During the Age of Imperialism, from 1870 1914, Britain was a major
country, which proved to be true in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They took up the scientific ideas of natural selection and the survival of the fittest
and applied the concepts to the human social world. However, some westerners
actually genuinely thought that they should help and westernize the inferior
countries of the world. The British went into Africa, thinking that it was their duty
to spread their advances of medicine, law, western civilization, and the Christian
religion. This was proved to be embraced in the anthem of imperialism, called the
White Man s Burden by Rudyard Kipling. He expressed in the poem that the duty
of the white man was to teach and help the people who they cast the inferior rank
to. However, it is hard to believe that this was Britain s most important goal in their
imperialism. Finally, the most important reason to British imperialism was their
desire to advance economically. Their economy was primarily based on trade, and
because colonies could be added as a form of imperial control, it only furthered and
expanded trade. Because such countries as Germany and France began to rise to
power, Britain was confronted with competition, so they felt that they had to take the
African land first. The British feared that as the other countries began to become
stronger and more stable, they would steal their markets, so that is how the scramble
for Africa starts. As for the Suez Canal, it became extremely important for money

Policy Gaming For Strategy And Change Essay
Research Assignment 1
Summary: Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change
The following assignment is a summary of the article Policy Gaming for Strategy
and Change that was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article,
it can be read how companies can use gaming simulations in order to analyse future
scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their complex organisational environment.
The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more
useful for today s organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of
today is a risk to organisations strategies, and that these risks would require coming
up with innovative and creative solutions in order to solve these issues.
It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses

The Fashion Trends Of A Wedding Gown
Various people around the world are sensitive to the classy fashion trends. It is
synonymous with Australia and is a true classic (Walter, Kartsounis Carosio,
2009). Stunning classic has survived many eras. The company s various varieties
of products are universal to the changes in the fashion trends. Especially in the
classy official clothing that includes, men suits. The suits were worn by the
grandfathers in past and they are worn today hence they will be worn in future too.
This fashion trend will enable the customer to sustain their products and maintain
the customers who mostly are white collar workers. On the other hand, products

Charles Manson Essay
On the morning of August 9, 1969, three LAPD officers arrived at 10050 Cielo

in a parked car, the body of Steven Parent was found. He was shot four times and
stabbed once. Laying about eighteen or twenty feet past the front door of the house,
Voytek Frykowski had been shot twice, beaten over the head with a blunt object
thirteen times, and stabbed fifty one times. Also discovered on the lawn was coffee
heiress Abigail Folger, stabbed twenty eight times. Inside the home, in the living

claims to have reached theta clear while in prison. He supposedly achieved this
through many auditing sessions, the method that Scientologists use to teach
awareness, taught by his cell mate, Lanier Rayner (Bugliosi 195 196). Most likely,
he picked up many of his methods of mind control from these sessions, along with
ideas such as karma and reincarnation (635). The Process Church of the Final

Satire Essay On Social Media Privacy
Facebook. Instagram. Whatsapp. All which are categorised as social media, which
we are all familiar with. Social media has been ingrained into our lives; we use
them every day. Without social media, we would be lost for many reasons: It has
encompassed both our personal and professional life, as its purposes ranges from
using it for work purposes to simply having a chat. However, have we ever stopped
and wondered at what cost? Little do we know that social media can be used as a
tool to scrutinize our personal lives. We have been lied to about having freedom on
social media, the Government has the ability to look at every single thing we are
doing on it. This is a purely disgusting act, people deserve their privacy, and taking
that away from them is in the kindest manner absolutely horrendous. Oh, let me
rephrase that.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many cases which are exemplary of this, take the cold war for instance;
the Americans had to take secrets owned by the Russians, (like the designs of
weapons like soviet tanks, these were invaluable as it helped them plan future

intentions, America would have surely been on the brink of a long, abhorrent nuclear

intelligence, and it is only when a country genuinely understands another country s
capabilities and intentions where they can truly gain honourable trust from one
another. These simply result in a world with an exceedingly low chance of

SWOT Analysis SWOT is an abbreviation which stands for the internal Strength and
Weaknesses of the company and the external Opportunities and Threats facing it. This
analysis is a common technique that used by managers and potential investors to get

assumption that an optimal strategy of the company derives from a sound fit among
company s internal resources (strengths and weaknesses) and its external
opportunities and threats. An ideal management maximizes strengths and
opportunities of the firm and nullifies its threats and weaknesses. Accurately

I Will Take A Sony Dream Machine Model Icf Cs15ip Alarm
Clock
Waking up in the morning is a difficult task for some people, whereas for others
waking up may seem like a natural routine. Well for those people who have a hard
time waking up or just wanting to get up at a specific time there was a device
invented called the alarm clock. This device was originally invented by ancient
Greek philosophers around 250 B.C. and over the years mechanical alarm clocks
were invented by Levi Hutchins in 1787 (History of Clocks. (n.d.). Retrieved
November 6, 2014.), then came radio alarm clocks invented by James Reynolds (The
History of Alarm Clocks {INFOGRAPHIC}. (n.d.). Retrieved November 6, 2014.),
and finally the modern alarm clocks with IPhone or IPod docking bays. My objective
is to write a proposal for option one on the final project, in which I will take a Sony
Dream Machine model ICF CS15iP alarm clockand discuss my experience using and
interacting with the device. Also I will examine how other people interact and
review their experience in using the Dream Machine. The methods I plan on using
to accomplish this project will be to explain in detail the ways I interact with the
device and go over my experience with it too. The first and second part of the
project will be to gather information from various sources such as, manufacturer s
manual, Sony s website, and web sites that contains reviews from people that have
used or that is still using the Dream Machine. After, reading the reviews I will
categorize them into separate
Primo Levi Survival In Auschwitz Quotes
In the World War II era, Jewish people were picked upon by the Nazis to kill off to
purify their bloodlines. The Holocaust is an example of pure hatred and
dehumanization. Dehumanize is to deprive someone of human qualities. The Nazis
did this to the Jewish people by putting them in concentration camps to make them
work to the brink of death, or they would kill them. They separated them from their
families and took away all human rights from the Jewish people.
Primo Levi was a Holocaust survivor that lived through terrible conditions in
concentration camps and physical abuse from the Nazi soldiers. Levi wrote about his
experiences in the Holocaust in his book, Survival in Auschwitz, and this is one of
the things he had to say, I have learned I am a Haftling. My number is 174517; we
have been baptized, we will carry the tattoo on our left arm until we die . This quote
shows how the Nazis took away names, which are essential human rights, and
replaced them with a number that meant close to nothing. The removal of a name can

Don t forget you re at a concentration camp. Here, every man has to fight for himself
and not think of anyone else. Even of his father. Here, there are no fathers, no
brothers, no friends. Everyone lives and dies for himself alone. This quote stirs up
so much in me because the Nazi soldier wants him to go against his father for his
better. That is morally wrong, and just a bad thing to think of in the first place. It
shows how the Nazis felt, and how evil they were. This experience Elie had is an
example of dehumanization because the Nazi is trying to twist Elie s
Us Dollar Euro Exchange Rate Essay
Introduction An analysis involving the U.S. dollar euro (USD EUR) exchange rate
involves an in depth study on the exchange rate between the two currencies. The U.S.
dollar euro exchange rate in the past was the most analyzed subject studied in global
economics. However, any results attempted in studying the dollar euroexchange rate
has not been that successful in the past. This is due to researchers not being able to
make a connection between the fundamentals of macroeconomics and exchange
rates (Molodtsova, Nikolsko Rzhevskyy, Papell, 2011). For this purpose, this paper
will discuss where the U.S. dollar euro exchange rate has been in the past, where it is
in the present, and where it is expected to be at in the future?
The Past of the U.S. Dollar Euro Exchange Rate Where the U.S. dollar euro
exchange rate has been in the past several decades from 1999 2014 is as follows.
Ever since the euro was created in January of 1999, the value of it has equaled to
$1.17. In October of 2000, the dollar was gaining strength when the euro was just
$0.88. Afterwards the dollar continued to decline against the euro by 39% from
2001 to 2004 (Islam, 2005). However, in 2005 the dollar rose, but negative outlooks
began to occur during the Great Recession in 2006. As the dollar started to decline
in 2006 before the subprime mortgage crisis, capital flows caused more volatility in
dollar euro exchange rate market forcing individuals to deal with this economic

Tim Burton Film Techniques Essay
Tim Burton s films are strange and wonderful with his medium shots, eye level
angles, and front or back lighting. His films have great depth of meaning and he
always seems to get the audience s attention with his techniques. In some of his
movies like Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice he used many different
techniques to demonstrate sinister moods and tones. The tones of his movies are
usually always dark because of his childhood experiences and past. Tim Burton
creates something so odd and turns it into a work of art. The purpose of medium
shots is for capturing the medium distance between the camera and the objects or
characters being filmed, it s used to express the main story of what s occurring. For
example, in his movie Edward Scissorhands, Tim Burton filmed a medium shot of
when Edward watched the water bed slush around before he put a hole in the
mattress. The medium shot makes the scene funny and odd to watch; considering the
scene is Edward moving along, watching the bed, then him poking a hole on accident
in the water mattress, plus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The technique allows the audience to become apart of the movie, in a way the angle
gives the audience the characters eyes, letting the audience see what the character
might be seeing from their view point. For example, in Charlie in The Chocolate
Factory , Tim Burton caught the audience s attention when some of the characters
were just beginning to meet Willy Wonka, before they were invited inside his
factory. The scene was shot from the character s eye level looking up at Willy Wonka
and listening to him speak about welcoming them to his factory, although he was
reading off of note cards and just showed them singing, dancing, mechanical puppets
that quit working due to catching on fire. The scene was in particularly odd and

He also wrestles with limitless surveillance and the reasons that people are willing

Truman Show the surveillanceis deemed acceptable by the audience because they are

presents the ills of such a situation of excessive surveillance and the danger it poses.
Truman is driven to the brink of insanity when he realizes that his life is not what it

live a normal life and make his own choices. The audience, both within the film and
watching the film, sympathize with Truman whose wife and best friend were both

impossibility of maintaining such a level of surveillance and control, even over a
single subject like Truman, evident in his eventual escape. Person of Interest does not
question the surveillance state, it utilizes it. The program s pilot does not criticize the
technological circumstances upon which the plot is founded. Instead, by blatantly
utilizing surveillance, through The Machine, it suggests that hyper surveillance is a
necessary aspect of preventing and fighting crime. It cites 9/11 for

It is in these situations that modern methods of business forecasting can be especially
useful. Modern forecasting methods are usually grouped into two main categories:
qualitative methods, and quantitative methods. Qualitative analysis includes the
intuitive and knowledge based approach as discussed earlier. The decision maker
reviews all of the information available, and then makes an estimated forecast.
Quantitative techniques are used mostly when qualitative information is not
available. In contrast, qualitative techniques are based on an analysis of data
(Namvar, 2000, p.8).
Delphi Forecasting Method
Qualitative forecasting techniques are: executive committee, the Delphi method,
and surveys of the sales force, surveys of customers, historical analogy, and market
research. The objective of most Delphi applications is the reliable and creative
exploration of ideas or the production of suitable information for decision making.
The Delphi Method is based on a structured process for collecting and distilling
knowledge from a group of experts by means of a series of questionnaires interspersed
with controlled opinion feedback (chase, 2003, P471).
The Delphi method is a variation of the executive committee approach. But the
interaction is indirect, iterative and structured. The basic premise of Delphi method
is to identify a group of experts and each of them are given a set of questions or
issues,
Fluoride Argumentative Essay

What if you found out that the water in your house was poisoning you and your
family? How would you feel knowing that the water your family uses everyday might
slowly be killing them? Many people believe that the government is secretly
poisoning communities across the country by putting fluoride in our tap water. Others
believe that fluoride is a safe product that benefits us. Most scientists and
researchers are split on whether fluoride is harmful or not. The United States has
been fluoridating communities water supplies since the early 1940 s

in our water supply or not.
The government says that we need fluoride, but fluoride is not an essential nutrient
for humans. Fluoride is the only chemical added into our water for the purpose of
medical treatment. It is supposed to prevent tooth decay, but studies show that tooth
decay hasn t decreased significantly since fluoride was added (fluoridealert.org,

Job exists as the sole counselor in this event because he encourage his wife even

miseries of Job s trials and does not mention Job s wife again until the last five
verses of the book; however this counseling session will parallel the events of Job
and focus on the reconciliation of Job s wife. This counseling session begins after
Job s wife tells him to curse God because at this point she existed at the deepest point
of her grief and anger. Furthermore, the next step to take in this counseling session
exists in identifying the type of grief that Job s wife is experiencing and if her anger
exists as a symptom of grief, or does it subsist as its own issue. In J. William Worden
s book, Grief Counseling and Grief Therapy, he discusses multiple reasons and
responses of grief in different occasions. Job s wife experiences a sudden death of
multiple children and Worden proposes that those who lose a loved one in a sudden
death react differently to the situation. He says that some clients obtain a sense of
unreality about the loss; others feel guilt, helplessness, or even agitation. I believe
that Job s wife is feeling agitation from the sudden death of all her children and this
is characterized by a fight or flight response. She
Donald Trump s Campaign Trail
Throughout the history of the United States of America there have been many
politicians that have run on the campaign trail using their charm, their wit and some
funds to help them on their way to win an election, and then there s Donald Trump.
Whatever you say about Donald Trump s morals, there has been no doubt that his
campaign has been a spectacle to watch. To show the effects of his campaign,
envision the first presidential candidatethat pops into your head. Donald Trumphas

Trump uses this unpredictability to manipulate the actions of his opposition and
then outmaneuvering them to draw in voter and media attention, rather than
directly persuading people to vote for him. Donald Trump loves to be
unpredictable, it s one of the reasons that the has done so well, it s a message of
rebellion, telling the voters that he is not a politician because he does not follow
the rules of a politician. An example of this on his campaign trail was when he just
skipped a debate and just did his own rally instead. I believe if the most clinically
insane person were to run for president he would at least make every debate, why
would Donald Trump do something like this, there are three reasons. One, his
message is carried that he is a rebel and does not follow the rules as set by the
Republicans further branding himself as not a politician. Two, it gains more media
coverage by doing an action as ludicrous as missing a debate, which helps him show
his messages. Three, it catches the other Republican candidates off guard because he
changed last minute and they are required change strategies to compensate for his
decision. When Donald Trump missed the debate it was well into the primary
elections and by the time of the debate, he had insulted practically all the G.O.P.
nominees. Because of this, most candidates had prepared for Trump being the
greatest threat and made their
How Anions Take Electrons
Cations take electrons so they are shown as a rectangle with an indent which
symbolizes a slot for an electron to be taken. If they require multiple electrons to be
given to them, they are shown as a rectangle with multiple indents, one for each
needed electron. Anions give electrons so they are shown as a rectangle with a tab
which symbolizes an extra electronthat they want to give away. If the anion have
multiple electrons to give away it is shown as a rectangle with multiple tabs on it,
one for each electron to give away. The tabs from the anions would fit into the
indent of the cations and it would form a rectangle with no tabs or indents as they
have no more electrons to giveaway and does not have the need to take any more. If
there are tabs on the piece of paper, it must be a cation (giving off a negative charge).

The positive charge from the anions matches the negative charge of the cations. This
caused the charge to become neutral, having no negative charge and no positive
charge. This relates to the chemical formula because for example if a cation has a
negative charge of two, it either needs an anion with a positive charge of two or, two
anions with a positive charge of one. Cation s do not change names from the original
element while occasionally having a roman numeral in parentheses to signify the
higher oxidation number. Anions include the ide suffix. Not all metals have the

This was fine because she handled the situation like a professional. When it was time

how technology could be unreliable. From there, she segued into her own materials

Our guest speaker talked about many topics that are directly related to the course.
As previously mentioned, she talked about how people have different ideas about
what is humor. This stems from people having different humor styles. A caustic
humor style can be harsh and sarcastic, while a cerebral style can be dry and
satirical. On the other end of the spectrum, someone with a crazy humor style thinks
silly, ridiculous, and shocking things are hilarious, while people with a caring
humor style enjoy funny things that are wholesome, harmless, and positive. Mrs.
Cline also suggested that it is best to practice a style of humor that caters to a
combination of all four humor styles. This way, it is easier to practice humor with
different audiences. Mrs. Cline also advised the class to always be prepared to tackle
any technical difficulties that may arise before a presentation. However, she also said
when the technological situation doesn t seem to cooperating, use the situation as a
chance to get started with some funny improvisational comments the way she did at
the beginning of the class. Another tip Mrs. Cline offered was to interact with the
audience while being in the moment of performing comedy or giving a speech. This
helps the speaker connect with the audience. Lastly, for those who are interested in
pursuing a career involving humor or comedy, Mrs. Cline suggested to just take a
chance and try it
Enslavement of the Individual in Capitalist Society as...
Bourgeois society enslaves the individual such that any attempt to transcend one s
environmental limitations results in self destruction. Nietzsche slave morality
theory is applicable to the works of Dostoyevsky, Mann, and Ibsen, and posits that
an individual uprising under a bourgeois blanket leads to reactivity, not activity.
Though each man calls for individuals values to be raised in some way (in the case of
Nietzsche, by an Гјber mensch), each understands the impossibility of that under
bourgeoisrule. Marxargues that the only way to restore individuality is for the
proletariat to band together and overthrow the society that hinders its freedom. Only
then will slave morality be erased as individuals forge active change.... Show more

This proposes that an individual is allowed to impose his own values on society.
However, Raskolnikov s actions imply that he still operates out of a slave
mentality. He eats his soup in a mechanical sort of way (1, 6, p.86), and in the
murder of the landlady he almost mechanically struck her (1, 6, p.96). The crime
seals Raskolnikov s isolation, which is necessary for an extraordinary man to set
himself apart from the rest and defeat his slave impulses; he tells his mother and
sister, I want to be alone. Better forget me altogether (4, 3, p.328). However, even the
self sufficient Svidrigaylov demonstrates a human requirement for the company of
others, indicating his own lavishness: And I shall be your slave‹for the rest of
my life (6, 5, p.506). Further examples refute Raskolnikov s theory. He wonders if
man isn t really a beast‹man in generalŠthe whole human raceŠthen all the rest
is just prejudice, just imagined fears (1, 2, p.44). Raskolnikov s, or any single man
s, inability to rise out of the morass of bourgeois complacency is pointed out by a
bar patron, who asks Would you kill the old woman yourself?ЕIf you are not ready
to do it yourself, it s not a question of justice at all (1, 6, p.86). The Raskolnikov
does eventually kill her by himself, the important idea presented here is that no single
person has the strength or will to combat bourgeois morality by himself; rather, there

and if breastfeeding plays a significant role in cognitive development. The article

variables to determine how much of an impact breastfeedinghas on cognitive
development. The authors stress the difference with their research, as they use PSM

After the study was conducted, they learned that, while breastfeeding can play a
part in cognitive development, they realized more research would need to be done.
The reason being is, many factors come into play, regarding cognitive development

child plays/learns on a daily basis, and so on, making it harder to pinpoint what
exactly is causing the increase in cognitive development. Other sources, such as

Gentrification Has Taken The Bay Area
Adding to the inequalities and misfortunes within communities of color,
gentrification has taken the Bay Area by a storm. Gentrification is the purchasing of
deteriorated urban homes and areas, then the renovation by higher end and middle
class communities. An abundance of high end people rush into the Bay Area and
purchase up the real estate. Incoming middle and higher class take the Bay Area real
estate and revitalise it into up and coming neighborhoods, then increase rent prices.
Therefore, reducing affordable housing for communities of color. Therefore, this
revitalization is changing the character of communities because the Bay Area may

When cities begin their journey of being gentrified, many locals become displaced.
Displacement is when locals are uprooted from their homes, due to outside factors,
and forced to move elsewhere. According to the Urban Displacement Project
conducted by U.C. Berkeley, Gentrification results from both flows of capital and
people. The extent to which gentrification is linked to racial transition differs
across neighborhood contexts... Displacement takes many different forms direct
and indirect, physical or economic, and exclusionary and may result from either
investment or disinvestment (U.C. Berkeley). Many people are coming into San
Francisco s Bay Area because of how diverse each element is. However, according
to Census numbers, between 1990 and 2010, 35.7% of San Francisco s black

such a strong large part of people leave, The City will experience a shift in culture

semester, I am heading out on a plane with my parents and three of their best
friends to take on Italy for two weeks. It is my parent s thirtieth wedding
anniversary, and to celebrate we are going to the land they love most in the world.
This is going to be their third trip there, the first being for their twenty fifth ... Show

We made sure our priorities were straight, food over practicality.
We fly above the coast of the Mediterranean. I can see the blue green waters below
and realize in a weeks time I could be dipping my toes in it. I wonder how warm it
will be. As the plane heads into Tuscany, I scan the ground in search of the Italy of
my dreams, which is really just fields of gold, like the Sting song. Except this is
May, and the only fields I see are bright green with tiny dots of bright red poppies
dispersed throughout. The landing is perfect and we taxi around the airport to our
gate. My dad points out that the Italians waste no land, as they are using the small
strip of land between runways for hay rolls. When we get off the plane the first
wave of humidity hits me. It is too warm for the two shirts I have on and I break
one of my cardinal rules of fashion and tie one shirt around my waist.
We shuffle through the crowds of tourists to the baggage claim. Everyone else
seems to get their luggage right away, while mine is nowhere to be found. Finally
my blue duffel bag comes around and it s time to head towards the final customs
check. Jan is nervous to go towards the group of guys just hanging out at the bag
inspection area but they say ?buon giorno? and let us be on our way. The lady
stamping our passports is rude to my mother s Americanized ?buon giorno? and gives
me no confidence to try to say anything in Italian to her.
We head over to the car
Essay On Classification Of Avian Avulavirus Serotype-1
Classification of Avian Avulavirus serotype 1 The causative agent of ND, is now
classified as a species Avian avulavirus serotype 1 (AAV 1). Recently, the 10th
annual International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV, EC 48, Budapest,
Hungary, August 2016), categorized the virus as a member of the genus Avulavirus
of the paramyxoviridae family (Alexander, 1997) in the order of mononegavirales
(Knipe and Hetsley, 2001; Mayo, 2002; Murphy et al., 1995; Afonso et al., 2016).
The order mononegavirales has undergone several changes in 2017 ICTV report. It s
comprised of eight families hosting viruses with non segmented, linear, single
stranded and negative sense RNA. The designated Paramyxoviridae family is now

Several antigenic and genetic diversity are recognized (Aldous et al., 2003;
Alexander, 1997; Kim et al., 2007) using molecular based techniques for analyzing
the genome sizes (Knipe and Hetsley, 2001). The classification schemes adopted
for Avian Avulavirus 1, is based on the sequences and phylogenetic analysis of HN,
L, M and F genes and these have been advanced to group isolates (Aldous et al.,
2003; Liu et al., 2011; Miller et al., 2010; Pedersen, 2010). Depending on the
researcher s preference, nominal differences arise in the grouping of isolates.
Using genotypes or genetic lineages proposed by Aldous et al., Avian Avulavirus 1
is placed in serotype 1 with six lineages and 13 sublineages (AVV 1) (Aldous et al.,
2003), to which three other sublineages were added (Snoeck, et al 2009). Most ND
vaccines are grouped under Class II, genotype I and II while genotype III X are
velogenic that might be used as challenge viruses in vaccination experiments.
Using the genome size scheme, Avian Avulavirus 1 is placed into six lineages (1 to
6) (Alexander and Senne, 2008). Detailed analysis reveals sub lineages in lineage 3
and 4 (a to d) and in lineage 5 (a to e). On the other hand, using genomic
characterization and restriction site mapping of HN, F and L
Analysis Of The Movie Television Tv
As Oliver s parents, we know him best. So we would like to share our perspective
of him with you. Oliver is a smart, active, unpredictable, funny 5 year old boy. His
greatest love is for humor and being silly. One of his most favorite things to do is
make people laugh. He will go from making silly noises or faces, to saying
something so very very random, just to see the reaction on your face. And of
course, sometimes, these things may involve bodily functions that most 5 year old
boys would giggle about. He has many interests, and loves to pretend play. His love
for game, movie, tv or cartoon characters is extensive, from every superhero there is,
to Spongebob`. He knows every tiny fact about them. He is fantastic at memorizing
scenes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does not comprehend boundaries of other people, talking right in their faces,
getting on their laps, giving hugs. Oliver also does not comprehend the meaning of
strangers, saying Hi and talking, he may even try to hug, anyone he sees. His
social skills with other children is limited, he has his older sister, Charlotte. He
also spends time with a aunt and cousin who are older and a younger cousin.
Playing with the older children can be frustrating for him. He gets very loud,
compensating for everything going on around him. He usually does not like to
play what others want to, especially if he isn t fully interested, and will get angry if
they do not agree with him. Sharing can be quite difficult, especially if it is
something he has become quite attached too. Although, playing with younger
children, he seems to be the opposite, sharing, making sure he is being very gentle,
and quiet. That is when his nurturing side shows. Oliver s emotions are very
unbalanced. When he is not bubbly, giggling, and happy. He will have outbursts
without warning, cry or scream. He can have very high anxiety over events, or
items, and takes things very literal which enhances all of these feelings. At the same
time, he has little sense for danger and little fear, of dangerous situations. Even if it
is explained as dangerous and why, he would run into a road if you re
Women In The Tang Dynasty
Throughout the long history of mankind, women s status has been through a huge
historical evolution. Ancient Chinese feminism is obviously more noticeable than
other cultures due to its feudal and conservative society. Yuan Zhen, who is a famous
Chinese writer and politician in Tang Dynasty, has written one of the greatest
masterpieces in that time period called The Story of Yingying. In the story, he reflects
the awakening of feminism in the Tang Dynastyby describing the love tragedy about
Zhang and Cui Yingying as well. However, there are a lot of different distinctions
on people s opinions on this story, and many people believe that Cui Yingying is
just simply a woman who does not know how to protect or respect herself. As time
goes by, people start to change their views as women are getting treated better and

This event makes the status of women improved a lot, and it also leads a lot of
litterateurs to start changing their view on the famous female character Cui
Yingying. Many female roles can be able to pursue their own love which
represents one aspect of feminism (DeBlasi 39 40). From many literary works,
Women in the Tang Dynasty can now fully displayed their confidence and beauty.
Feminism is the belief that woman have equal political, social, sexual, love,
intellectual and economic rights to men (Holdsworth8). Though Yingying is not
completely fitted to the whole standards, but she has chased her love and what she
does has become a progress of awakening feminism. Also her bold act to pursue
their love becomes a symbol of the awakening of feminism. The author Yuan Zhen
describes Yingying as expressions of either joy or misery seldom showed on her face
(1055). This is an expression of noble girls personality. She loves Zhang, but the
feelings are not revealed, and she tries to
Problems Within Education Today s Education Essay
Problems Within Education Today
For my extra credit assignment I would like to research, and write about the
problems in education today. According to chapter eight in the book, worldwide one
in five adults can not read or write, two thirds of them being women. The problems
we are facing in education can be linked to other social problems such as poverty or
unemployment, seeing that those who graduate college make up twenty percent of
the unemployment rate, compared to the forty percent of the unemployment rate in
people with less than a high school degree. Another issue facing education is the
inequality of schools and school districts. School districts with a lower
socioeconomic status must spend more money on things like maintaining the school.
Thus, leaving less money to spend on bettering the education of the children, which
in turn leads to higher rates of drop outs, and lower rates of college attendance.
Therefore, leaving them more likely to be unemployed or live in poverty. Finally,
another major problem facing the American education system is the lack of financial
support. One survey revealed that the most common thing to happen due to budget
cuts is to increase the class size, which has been directly correlated with poorer
academic achievement. The problems facing education are plentiful, most of which
are grounded in financial woes. These effects can be devastating to the lives of the
children it affects or society as a whole, due to the statistics correlating
The Importance of the First Amendment of the United...
Being expression one of the most important rights of the people to maintain a
connected society right to speech should be accepted to do so. The first amendment
is one of the most fundamental rights that individuals have. It is fundamental to the
existence of democracy and the respect of human dignity. This amendment describes
the principal rights of the citizens of the United States. If the citizens were unable to
criticize the government, it would be impossible to regulate order. By looking
freedom of speech there is also freedom of assembly and freedom of press that are
crucial for the United States democracy.According to the Derechos, Human Rights,
freedom of speech is one of the most dangerous rights, because it means the freedom

The people will be submitted to a dictatorship. That s why freedom of speech is so
important because is the main and the introductory part to the Bill of Rights and the
Constitution. The founding fathers wrote this right to make sure that United States
will be a different country, a better country where everyone could understand each
other and that what happened to them (British government) will not happen ever
again. In a democratic government also depends on freedom of press and freedom
of assembly. Freedom of press is the occurrences that happen every day that are
informed or detailed through television, newspaper, internet, magazines or speech
without adding or removing any type of information that do not benefit a particular
sector. And also is that the people have the right to have their own type of press to
express their ideas. Today, freedom of press is a utopia because every country has
their own secrets, and covers important information to their citizens. With freedom of
press, the countries will have a perfect government not so perfect but the people need
to know the truth. The democratic government is a form of government in which the
people, either directly or indirectly, take part in governing. Democracy is the worst
form of government except for all those others that have been tried. This is because
there is no system that can perfectly order society. Usually the purpose of democracy
is to prevent tyranny (the accumulation of
English Settlers In The 17th Century Essay
In the 17th century, many English settlers immigrated out of England for various
reasons. Some seeked religious freedom, while others seeked wealth. They moved to
the New England region which consisted of Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and
the New Jerseys, both East and West. They also moved to the Chesapeake region
which was made up of the MassachusettsBay Colony, Plymouth, Connecticut, Rhode
Island, and New Haven. Although these regions were both populated by english
settlers, they were more different than alike. These regions were different in
government establishments, in economy, and religious views. Yet their differences
allowed them to attract a diverse set of individuals, all depending on what they
wanted. In 1620, the Separatists that arrived in Plymouth wrote the Mayflower
Compact which was an agreement that all decisions concerning the government
would be made through the choice of the majority. Puritans who immigrated to the
Massachusetts Bay already knew... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some wanted to expand Puritan belief and construct ideal Puritan communities. In
the Massachusetts Bay, political leaders were also religious leaders, like John
Winthrop. Settlers in this region took religion very seriously, and weren t very
tolerant with those who didn t follow their beliefs until the creation of the Act of
Toleration in Maryland. This created toleration with those who believed in Christ
and allowed for persecuted Catholics to settle in Maryland. Puritans also believed
in calvinism, which was the idea of predestination meaning everyone s destiny,
whether they re going to heaven or hell, was already chosen for them. However,
Pennsylvania was populated by Quakers who believed in inner light which was the
idea that God encouraged people to adopt a more optimistic view on humanity.
Quakers weren t as strict as the Puritans, they believed all acts were sacred if they
were committed to
Los Angeles Five Themes Of Geography
Los Angeles is the biggest city in the southwestern part of the state of California.
Every city has the five themes of geography, which are location, place, human
environment interaction, region and movement. Just like every other city, Los
Angeles has them too! The location of Los Angeles is 34.05 latitude and 118.24
longitude. Los Angelesis at elevation 96 meters above sea level. With that being
said, location and place are not the same thing when geography is involved. For
example, the place for Los Angeles is the climate and language. The climate of Los
Angeles is warm and sunny and the winters bring rain instead of snow. Also, the
languages that are mostly spoken there are English and Spanish. Los Angeles is a

The Founders felt that the thirteen colonies were not only obligated to break away from the tyranny of British rule, but also
  • 6. Cambodia, Congo, And Jamaica Case Study: Cambodia, Congo, and Jamaica Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Jamaica are countries that gained independence from European powers after World War II. Though located in different regions of the world, and colonized by different European powers, these countries experienced social unrest and economic challenges that remain. Key to understanding these countries is understanding their histories and struggles, which continue to have significant impact on conditions within these countries today. Cambodia Cambodia s history contrasts a glorious past with recent tragedy. Located in Southeast Asia between Thailand and Vietnam, Cambodia s history of conflict with its neighbors and European colonialism has led to distrust and nationalism. Fear of foreign occupation or being partitioned by its neighbors lingers in the Cambodian national psychology. Once part of French Indochina, Cambodian gained independence in 1953 when King Sihanouk convinced France that only complete independence would undercut the appeal of communism in Cambodia. The Khmer Empire began approximately 800 CE when King Jayavarman II subjugated the small warring kingdoms around Tonle Sap Lake and expanded to cover most of Thailand and Laos. Because of established trade routes, art and culture were strongly influenced by India. Hinduism was the major religion in addition to Buddhism, animist, and traditional religions. (Plubins 2013) The Khmer capital of Angkor was a vibrant

Another way they are similar they are destructive for hard rock mining they would blow up mountains for placer mining they would put mercury in the water to help find gold destroying many useful resources. The differences between these two types of mining are although placer mining can involve a few people hard rock mining mostly involves a large group of people and is run by large companies. Next, is refinement since the gold usually had lots of dirt covering the miners would remove as much by shaking it. The way mining affected the economy in Montana was huge. Hard rock mining made tons of money mining companies were thriving until the flow of gold inflated the money leaving the mining corporations unable to make a profit. • 9. Stone Henge It seems that the human race is infatuated with stones. Stones are used for jewelry, architecture,1 statues, tombstones, and even printing. Printing on stone is called lithography. Even the word stone has many uses in the english language: a criminal can be stoned to death, and the British unit of weight is known as a stone. Going back to prehistoric times, specifically the Neolithicperiod, may provide some answers of why we as a species are so drawn to stone and its many uses. Relics from the Neolithic period are large man made stone formations, known as megaliths, that were built from 10,000 2,000 BCE. Some evolutionary step happened in this time period where humans started to manipulate colossal stones into markers, alignments, fanes,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A lot of these stone circles no longer stand, like the ones at Carnac. Stone Henge, the most famous of the megaliths, is located in Wiltshire, England, and was built around 3000 2000 BC. The biggest stones at Stone Henge are the sarsen stones, averaging height about 30 feet and weight 25 tons. The sarsen stones make up the posts and lintels at the site, meaning that upright stones hold the flat stones on top of them. Smaller stones, known as bluestones, make up the inner circle of Stone Henge, usually weighing around 4 tons. Stone Henge s architecture lines up with astronomical events, like the Summer Solstice. On the Summer Solstice, the sun rises behind a marker stone, known as the Heel Stone. The sun s rays shine through the posts that align perfectly with the Heel Stone, creating a powerfully aligned image. A ditch surrounding the megalithic site contains human remains, some of which have been identified as humans from other places, not just people native to the area. There are remains of a metal worker that4 lived in Germany around 3000 BCE and a little boy from the Mediterranean that was buried around 5000 BCE. This suggests that people may have pilgrimaged here as a place for burial. It seems that the neolithic people that built Stone Henge had a vast knowledge of astronomy, architecture, and engineering. It is largely believed that this colossal site was primarily used for religious ceremonies that took taking place with astronomical
  • 10. The Five Characteristics Of Japanese Culture Japan Culture SSG Lomberk, Michael SLC 501 17 Culture is a specific set of morals and values that distinguish a group of individuals from another. The five characteristics that define a culture are that culture is learned, shared with others, based on symbols, it s integrated throughout a nation and lastly can have dynamic. Culture is learned, we primarily see culture taught in adolescent years through our peers, school, family, and even sometimes the media. Your upbringing has an impact on your culture. Culture often shared, it s a social construct. To learn a language, behavior, or even a tradition we must interact with other people, thus making culture shared. Culture is also sometimes based on symbols. We in America know that the flag, red, white, and blue is a symbol of the United States, this a part of our culture. Culture is integrated, it s brought to wherever you may go in the world, it s usually mixed with other cultures which make culture integrated. Culture is also dynamic; your culture can always modify slightly, it can always change. Japanese culture is a complex system of different layers of morals and values. In Japan, they have a huge range of different morals and values that make Japan unique in its culture. When we think of Japanese culture, Samurai warriors and sushi, come to mind, but there s so much more about the culture than that. • 13. The Lost Boy Drawing Was Influenced By Pali The Lost Boy drawing was influenced by the short story Pali. I chose to do this project on Pali because, I found this short story the most interesting compared to the other readings. Plus, once you started reading it, it was hard to stop. The Lost Boy drawing represents Pali a young boy of a Hindu family. Pali loses his familywhen they are boarding the lorries to leave the refugee camps. The lorries are represented in the drawing, because this is where the story of Pali all started. In the drawing, Pali is the main focal point similar to the short story. Also in the drawing, Pali is raising his hands and crying for help, Pitaji! Pitaji! (pg. 59), which means father in Hindu. I chose this quote because, Pali is like a lost boy in an unfamiliar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pali is appalled by this, and cries. The social worker states, You are a Hindu boy (pg. 70). This quote was used for the drawing because, Pali is going from Hindu to Muslim back to Hindu. The Hindu community did not appreciate how Pali still used Muslim traditions, instead of Hindus. The transition from Muslim back to Hindu is the hardest since Pali was Muslim from four to eleven years old, which was most of his life at the time. This also ties in with the drawing of the Muslim hat versus the Hindu hat, and how the Hindu s and Muslim s are arguing which religion Pali should be. My image relates to the reference Conflict: Hindus and Muslims in the book The Indians, because it explains all the differences and thoughts that each religion has on each other. In Conflict: Hindus and Muslims it talks about the violence between the religions and how it all started. Similar to the short story of Pali. Pali shows the conflict on the two religions, by an actual story of him being Hindu and Muslim. All in all, I really enjoyed reading the story about Pali, and it really taught me every day struggles of Indians and their religions, Hindu and

  • 15. Does Biological Motion Transmit Information about the... Literature Review: Does Biological Motion Transmit Information About the Emotional States of Others? Actors and normal people alike, have exploited the ability to display emotion through body movement for centuries. However, until not long ago, psychologists considered body movements only as displays of the intensity of emotions not their specificity. Instead, facial expressions were thought to be crucial for the judgement of emotions (Ekman, 1973). It was not until the second half of the twentieth century that research into biological motion illustrated that emotional state can be judged by body movement, even if only basic emotions such as anger or happiness. However, the evolutionary function of humans ability to express emotion was suggested a whole century earlier by Darwin (1872). According to Darwin (1872), each basic emotion has a combination of postures, expressions and gestures and the ability to recognise emotions has an adaptive advantage. Following on from this theory, Walk (1984), later proposed the alarm hypothesis which states that the emotions of anger and fear are more readily recognisable in order to aid survival. Several of the following studies have addressed this theory. This review will examine the literature into the human ability to detect the emotional state of others through biological motion as further insight could help people with impaired social functions, such as those suffering from autism or schizophrenia. The following areas will be
  • 16. Popular Music In The 1920 s Music has been widely popular throughout America since the nation s creation, but ever since the 1920 s, it has become a daily part of our culture. Over the decades, new genres have been created, each as equally popular. Some examples would be jazz, blues, many kinds of rock, surf music, folk, soul, country, funk, disco, electronic, and hip hop. Without music, today s world would be very different. That s why it s safe to say that music has heavily influenced American society over the years. The beginning of popular music started with Jazzin the city of New Orleans. Around the year of 1900, many of the brothels in the district of Storyville, located in New Orleans, were employing low income African American musicians to play their music, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The leaders of this genre were all white teenagers from poor southern backgrounds. The most iconic artist of Rockabilly was Elvis Presley who moved from house to house, several times throughout his childhood. Other famous Rockabilly artists included Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Buddy Holly, and Jerry Lee Lewis. They all grew up poor and managed to combine the two most popular forms of southern music, blues and country. In 1953, Sun Records, a declining R B record label, ended up finding Elvis Presley who instantly became a star due to the fact that he was the first white man who perfected singing the R B genre. He soon gained a massive fanbase of teenage girls who tore apart his clothes after every concert. Even most African American teens loved him. One of the reasons teenage girls loved him so much was because of his famous hip and leg shaking. In 1956, Jerry Lee Lewis, nicknamed The Killer , joined Sun Records where he combined R B with country on piano. At first he wasn t very successful, but then he appeared on The Steve Allen Show on July 28, 1957 where he ended up kicking the piano stool into the audience while shaking his hair and banging on the keys like a madman. After that, he ended up topping the charts with Great Balls of Fire . Carl Perkins, whose music was very similar to Elvis , was possibly the greatest Rockabilly guitarist of the time. Known for his hit, Blue Suede Shoes , he almost became as famous as Elvis. Though this all changed when he got into a car accident on March 22, 1956 where he broke his collarbone, thus putting his career on hold. After this, Elvis recorded a popular version of Blue Suede Shoes and Perkins seemed to fade away, being more known for his songwriting than for his performing. The fourth Sun Records Rockabilly star was Johnny Cash, who served in the U.S. Air Force. Even Roy
  • 17. The Problem Of Bad Debts INTRODUCTION The accumulation of huge NPA in banks has assumed great importance. The depth of the problem of bad debts was first realised only in early 1990s. The magnitude of NPAs in banks and financial institution is over Rs. 150000 cr. So gross NPA reflects the quality of the loans made by banks, net NPA shows the actual burden of banks. Now it is increasingly evident that the major defaulters are the big borrowers coming from the initiative to reduce NPAs in a time bound strategic approach. Public sector banks figure prominently in the debate not only because they dominate the banking industries, but also since they have much larger NPAs compared with the private sector banks. This raises a concern in the industry and academia because it is generally felt that NPAs reduce the profitability of a banks, weaken its financial health and erode its solvency. For the recovery of NPAs a board framework has evolved for the management of NPA under which several options are provided for debt recovery and restructuring. Banks and FIs have the freedom to design and implement their own policies for recovery and write off incorporating compromise and negotiate settlements. DEFINITION An asset, including a leased asset, becomes non performing when it ceases to generate income for the bank. A non performing asset (NPA) was defined as a credit facility in respect of which the interest and/ or instalment of principal has remained past due for a specified period of time.

All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth. Chief Seattle The love I have for orangutans comes from an early age. Like most little sisters, my older brother ruthlessly teased me. When I was a baby he would make me mimic funny faces and stick my hair up on end. He said I looked like an orangutan. If things don t change, it is believed that orangutans will be extinct in the wild in as few as ten years. This is something that can only be changed with human intervention. Two major causes of orangutan endangerment are the illegal selling of baby orangutans and the unlawful logging of the rainforest in which they live. The bond between a mother orangutan and her baby is the longest childhood dependence of any animal in the world. Orangutans will only have one child about every eight years. Baby orangutans nurse until they are about six years old and then they still stay close to their mothers for a few more years. Female orangutans will sometimes stay with their mother until their adolescents, in order to learn how to take care of their own babies by watching their mothers take care of a younger sibling. The already low natural population increase makes any killing a major threat to the survival of the species. Because babies stay with their mother for so many years, the only way to capture one is to kill the mother. Although highly illegal, baby orangutans are being sold as family pets as a high commodity on the black market. When the babies

Explain The Motives Of British Imperialism In Africa Motives for British Imperialism in Africa Before the Europeans began the New Imperialism in Africa, very little was known about the inner parts of the continent. However, after some explorers delved deeper into the heart of Africa, the Europeans soon realized how economically important this area was, and how much they could profit from it. At the time, Britain had only small occupations of land in Africa, but after they realized that they could make money from the rich resources from the inner regions of Africa, they wanted to invade the African countries and take over. However, some westerners actually genuinely thought that they should help and westernize the inferior countries of the world. The British went into Africa, thinking that it was their duty to spread their advances of medicine, law, western civilization, and the Christian religion. This was proved to be embraced in the anthem of imperialism, called the White Man s Burden by Rudyard Kipling. He expressed in the poem that the duty of the white man was to teach and help the people who they cast the inferior rank to. However, it is hard to believe that this was Britain s most important goal in their imperialism. Finally, the most important reason to British imperialism was their desire to advance economically. Their economy was primarily based on trade, and because colonies could be added as a form of imperial control, it only furthered and expanded trade. Because such countries as Germany and France began to rise to power, Britain was confronted with competition, so they felt that they had to take the African land first. The British feared that as the other countries began to become stronger and more stable, they would steal their markets, so that is how the scramble for Africa starts. As for the Suez Canal, it became extremely important for money making The

Policy Gaming For Strategy And Change Essay Research Assignment 1 Summary: Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change The following assignment is a summary of the article Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change that was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article, it can be read how companies can use gaming simulations in order to analyse future scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their complex organisational environment. The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more useful for today s organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of today is a risk to organisations strategies, and that these risks would require coming up with innovative and creative solutions in order to solve these issues. It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses this dilemma, namely on one hand as a customised and interactive approach and on the other as an opportunity to shape the own future, which can be explored and analysed, due to a mixture of role playing and strategic simulation. Further on, the article is divided into two parts. In the first part, the authors explain how exactly policy gaming works, so how it is build up and how it is practiced. In the second part, the authors make a step further and defining how powerful simulation gaming is actually by using examples, which show the potential that simulation gaming has in real world cases. The Holocaust is an example of pure hatred and dehumanization. Dehumanize is to deprive someone of human qualities. The Nazis did this to the Jewish people by putting them in concentration camps to make them work to the brink of death, or they would kill them. They separated them from their families and took away all human rights from the Jewish people. The U.S. dollar euro exchange rate in the past was the most analyzed subject studied in global economics. However, any results attempted in studying the dollar euroexchange rate has not been that successful in the past. This is due to researchers not being able to make a connection between the fundamentals of macroeconomics and exchange rates (Molodtsova, Nikolsko Rzhevskyy, Papell, 2011). For this purpose, this paper will discuss where the U.S. dollar euro exchange rate has been in the past, where it is in the present, and where it is expected to be at in the future? This proposes that an individual is allowed to impose his own values on society. However, Raskolnikov s actions imply that he still operates out of a slave mentality. He eats his soup in a mechanical sort of way (1, 6, p.86), and in the murder of the landlady he almost mechanically struck her (1, 6, p.96). The crime seals Raskolnikov s isolation, which is necessary for an extraordinary man to set himself apart from the rest and defeat his slave impulses; he tells his mother and sister, I want to be alone. Better forget me altogether (4, 3, p.328). However, even the self sufficient Svidrigaylov demonstrates a human requirement for the company of others, indicating his own lavishness: And I shall be your slave‹for the rest of my life (6, 5, p.506). Everyone else seems to get their luggage right away, while mine is nowhere to be found. Finally my blue duffel bag comes around and it s time to head towards the final customs check. Jan is nervous to go towards the group of guys just hanging out at the bag inspection area but they say ?buon giorno? and let us be on our way. The lady stamping our passports is rude to my mother s Americanized ?buon giorno? and gives me no confidence to try to say anything in Italian to her. We head over to the car

Essay On Classification Of Avian Avulavirus Serotype-1 Classification of Avian Avulavirus serotype 1 The causative agent of ND, is now classified as a species Avian avulavirus serotype 1 (AAV 1). Recently, the 10th annual International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV, EC 48, Budapest, Hungary, August 2016), categorized the virus as a member of the genus Avulavirus of the paramyxoviridae family (Alexander, 1997) in the order of mononegavirales (Knipe and Hetsley, 2001; Mayo, 2002; Murphy et al., 1995; Afonso et al., 2016). The order mononegavirales has undergone several changes in 2017 ICTV report. It s comprised of eight families hosting viruses with non segmented, linear, single stranded and negative sense RNA. The designated Paramyxoviridae family is now where the causative agent of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Several antigenic and genetic diversity are recognized (Aldous et al., 2003; Alexander, 1997; Kim et al., 2007) using molecular based techniques for analyzing the genome sizes (Knipe and Hetsley, 2001). The classification schemes adopted for Avian Avulavirus 1, is based on the sequences and phylogenetic analysis of HN, L, M and F genes and these have been advanced to group isolates (Aldous et al., 2003; Liu et al., 2011; Miller et al., 2010; Pedersen, 2010). Depending on the researcher s preference, nominal differences arise in the grouping of isolates. Using genotypes or genetic lineages proposed by Aldous et al., Avian Avulavirus 1 is placed in serotype 1 with six lineages and 13 sublineages (AVV 1) (Aldous et al., 2003), to which three other sublineages were added (Snoeck, et al 2009). Most ND vaccines are grouped under Class II, genotype I and II while genotype III X are velogenic that might be used as challenge viruses in vaccination experiments. Using the genome size scheme, Avian Avulavirus 1 is placed into six lineages (1 to 6) (Alexander and Senne, 2008). Detailed analysis reveals sub lineages in lineage 3 and 4 (a to d) and in lineage 5 (a to e). On the other hand, using genomic characterization and restriction site mapping of HN, F and L

According to chapter eight in the book, worldwide one in five adults can not read or write, two thirds of them being women. The problems we are facing in education can be linked to other social problems such as poverty or unemployment, seeing that those who graduate college make up twenty percent of the unemployment rate, compared to the forty percent of the unemployment rate in people with less than a high school degree. Another issue facing education is the inequality of schools and school districts. School districts with a lower socioeconomic status must spend more money on things like maintaining the school. Thus, leaving less money to spend on bettering the education of the children, which in turn leads to higher rates of drop outs, and lower rates of college attendance. Therefore, leaving them more likely to be unemployed or live in poverty. Finally, another major problem facing the American education system is the lack of financial support. One survey revealed that the most common thing to happen due to budget cuts is to increase the class size, which has been directly correlated with poorer academic achievement.
