1984 Apocalyptic Disaster
In the book 1984 by George Orwell it shows an insight of apocalyptic disaster that Winston Smith
goes through while living in totalitarianism. An apocalyptic disaster means complete destruction of the
world. My article conveys how the world is running out of time and can end in a moment. Trump is
making this time go faster than what it needs to be. The uplifting war with North Korea may cause the
ending of the world such as what happened 27 years ago in 1991. It s expected that Trump will
continue to mess things up. HE should be impeached because he is not bringing nothing to citizens but
daily reckless events. The world has been in an apocalyptical time for centuries he is bringing our
world more to an end which is affecting us all. This

Father Son Relationship in Reunion Essay
Father Son Relationship in Reunion
As children we look up to our parents as role models, it is universal that we have the need to have
them in our lives, to feel loved by them. They are the people who should be responsible for our
upbringing and in molding the way we are to be as adults. The role of a parent is not just providing
food and shelter but also providing a good example. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. There
are parents who for one reason or another are not there for their children, parents who do not set the
right example to their kids. In the story Reunion by John Cheever we see a perfect example of how a
father does not step up to his role as a parent and the effect it has on his son. We see the need of ...

The question of why Charlie himself did not put a stop to this is definite in the reader s eyes. We may
conclude, with the information given in the exposition that Charlie knew he had the option of never
seeing his father again. The train could symbolize that this encounter with his father was a ‘quick
stop in his journey in life. By not reacting with the same negative energy and by avoiding
confrontation we see the growth in Charlie. We see that he has surpassed the necessity of a father
figure and acceptance of being without one, even though he in fact would ve rather have one. I was
terribly happy to see him again (p207) I hoped that someone would see us together. I wished that we
could be photographed. I wanted some record of our having been together. (p208) and then he simply
says, Goodbye, daddy. Cheever does not go into much detail regarding the setting of this story. We
know that this story happens in Grand Central Station and in some restaurants but this in this case the
setting is not too important. The whole setting is a microcosm in itself for such situations could
happen anywhere and at any time. The title does hold some importance though. The word ‘reunion
brings up pleasant thoughts. We link it to things such as family reunions where it is a

Analysis Of Ronald J. Allen s Article Burning The Flag
Burning of the Flag In Ronald J. Allen s article he discuss a great controversial topic that at the
moment, many were talking about. At the time a man had burned an American flag as a protest against
government policies. Prior to that, In a controversial decision, the Supreme Court, by the closest
possible margin of a 5 to 4 vote, help that a person has a right to express disagreement with
governmental policies by burning the American flag. Ronald J. Allen s use of the Three appeals,
figurative language, and diction leads one to a final opinion. Personally, I believe that, like Allen
mentions, ...the Supreme Court was not wrong. It is true that Any messages that burning the flag might
convey easily can be communicated in other ways. However, the Constitution says that everyone has
Freedom of Expression which means that Each individual is to have the freedom, to develop by his or
her own lights, and not by the command of officialdom. Maybe the burning of the flag was not
completely morally correct plus ...is such a powerful form of communication. but it is still not

My Experience Of Music
Music isn t just what I do, it is who I am. I ve been surrounded by music ever since I remember. One
of my earliest memories is of my mom playing piano for my family, something she often did
throughout my childhood. Time and time again, her simple melodies echoed through our cozy house
and as I stood next to her, watching her hands, they also started to resonate in my heart. Even in those
early years, I knew that I loved music. From then on, I took every opportunity I could to make music.
I started taking piano lessons and joined church choir in third grade. However, that wasn t enough for
me, and I knew I would always want more music. I had this thirst for music that I couldn t quench,
and every opportunity I got just left me wanting more. This is why the day I got to pick out my band
instrument was such a big day for me.
It was May 15th and I woke up ready to have a good day. After so many years of waiting and
watching concerts from the audience, it was finally my turn to pick out an instrument and start band or
orchestra something I had been dreaming of for what seemed like an eternity.
As I got to school that day, I could see the excitement and anticipation on my friend s faces, as I
learned that they too were excited for band the next year. Perfect! Today s the day that I can talk on
and on about music without people thinking I m weird! Chatter about the day we got to try out the
instruments filled the fourth grade classrooms as everyone finalized their crucial

The Importance Of Perfluorooctanoic Acid ( Pfoa )
In the 1950 s DuPont, an American industrial conglomerate, started producing Teflon at its
Washington Works Plant near Parkersburg, WV; a couple of hours southeast of Columbus, Ohio on the
Ohio River. Teflon is a non stick coating commonly found on water resistant clothing, cookware,
among other things. One of the main byproducts of Teflon is perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), more
commonly known as C8. DuPont s Washington Works plant released C8 into the air as well as the
Ohio River until 2001, at which point abnormally high levels of the acid were detected in drinking
water supplies throughout the river in Little Hocking, Ohio. The Little Hocking water system consists
of five groundwater wells located immediately west (downstream) of the Ohio River and it took
approximately 50 years for the C8 released into the Ohio River to reach the well fields. This is
because contaminates were transferred via groundwater, which travels much slower than the river s
surface water. However, once the C8 had infiltrated the wells, an estimated 70,000 people were
exposed to contaminated water. Shortly after the harmful levels of C8 were detected in the well fields,
exposure to C8 was linked to cases of kidney cancer, testicular cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid
disease, pregnancy induced hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia. As a result, in 2005, customers of
Little Hocking Water (LHWA) along with five other rural water systems (Lubeck Public Service

The Effects Of Caffeine On Oxidative Stress
In the present study, the MDA level was measured as an index of lipid peroxidation in order to observe
the effect of caffeine on the oxidative stress induced by AlCl3 in cortex, hippocampus and striatum
brain areas. Brain tissues are more vulnerable to oxidative stress other than tissues for many reasons
such as high oxygen consumption (more than 20% of the total inspired oxygen), the presence of
abundant amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids which are susceptible to free radicals attack, low
antioxidant levels, high iron content in addition to the non regenerative nature of neurons (Nehru and
Anand, 2005; Kim et al., 2015). All these reasons may explain why brain is more susceptible to
aluminum toxicity than other organs. In the present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The present results showed that daily protection with caffeine attenuated the increase in MDA levels
in AlCl3 intoxicated rats. Supporting the present finding, previous studies have revealed the
antioxidant potential of caffeine against lipid peroxidation in various animal models of neurologic
diseases, including Alzheimer s disease (Prasanthi et al., 2010), epilepsy (Souza et al., 2013) and
Parkinson s disease (Khadrawy et al., 2017). It has been demonstrated that caffeine has the ability to
scavenge reactive oxygen species (Devasagayam et al., 1996) and modulated the brain antioxidant
system through increasing the content of GSH and activities of antioxidant enzymes like glutathione
reductase and superoxide dismutase (Abreu et al., 2011). Generally, the antioxidant capacity of
caffeine was similar to that of the established biological antioxidant GSH and significantly higher than
ascorbic acid (Devasagayam et al., 1996). Accordingly, this may explain the ability of caffeine to
attenuate lipid peroxidation induced by AlCl3 in the current study via direct scavenging of reactive
oxygen species or by increasing GSH content and antioxidant enzymes activities.
The present data revealed that daily oral administration of AlCl3 resulted in a significant increase in
NO levels in the cortex, hippocampus and striatum. NO is the smallest signalling molecule within

Johnny Cash Biography
The Man in Black
An individual can impact society in a positive or possibly negative manner and Johnny Cash definitely
had an impactful life. He was born into a poor, nominal, farming family. Cash had a difficult
childhood and his music surely inspired many. Although, he had a great career, he, no doubt, made
many mistakes. He was certainly a leader, and, in the eyes of many, will always be.
John R. Cash was born in Kingsland, Arkansas on February 26th, 1932 when the Great Depression
was well under way. He was born into a sharecropping family who grew cotton. When he was only
three, Cash and his family moved from Kingsland to Dyess Colony, a federal program that relocated
able farmers to a cotton farming cooperative in northwestern Arkansas. ... Show more content on

Civil War Vs Radical Reconstruction
1 ) The century following the civil war saw massive and unprecedented expansion in the reach and
interconnectivity between the federal government and American citizens. Starting with radical
reconstruction all the way up to the development of the New Right, the federal government reached
into civilian lives with new legislation that were direct reactions to social fears or conflicts. While
each act of expansion did alienate certain sects of the population, it was with this growth that the
federal government expanded freedom and democracy to the masses. The beginning of this century of
increased governmental intervention was marked by the policy of Radical Reconstruction. This course
of action allowed newly freed African Americans to enjoy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starting with relatively small support, the extreme conservatives in Orange County working through
the John Birch Society and other similar organizations, eventually built up enough steam and support
to push their state legislatures to propose the Francis amendment, a proposal to amend the California

subversive doctrines from holding public office or public employment among other anti communist
precautions (McGirr 263). After this victory, these suburban Americans came to perceive themselves
as a part of a broader national conservative movement, and while they failed to reign in a Republican
president in the 1964 election, this grass roots movement would work to build up a new idea of
conservatism, eventually leading to the sweeping victory of Ronal Reagan in the 1980 election

gaining political validity which would increase their ability to influence the American way of life.
Even more importantly, this movement created

Closeted Love In Annie Proulx s Brokeback Mountain
Imagine yourself in a secluded place with just you and the person you love. Being together seems
thrilling and maybe even effortless. Adversely, for Jack and Ennis, the main characters in Annie
Proulx s Brokeback Mountain in The New Yorker, being together was nothing short of laborious. For
example, both Jack and Ennis would lie to their wives about where they would go, in consistent efforts
to continue meeting up to be together and have sex. Some of the remote places these encounters
occurred in were Brokeback Mountain and in a motel. Throughout the narrative, the overall theme of
closeted love is prominent. This is something that should be noted as a reader for the reason that, it is
an unmistakable focus throughout the story. The often

It s been missed before. Don t feel bad if you do it too; there s a sign that points out Whitewater State

I mean, if you like the small town feel, Altura is the place to be! I bet if you stood on one end of Main

11 miles from the heart of Winona County and 13 from the fairgrounds, yet most people never know it
even exists. There are maybe four hundred people; however, you would not know it in the winter. It s
a ghost town then. The old folks all leave for Florida or somewhere else, somewhere nice. Despite the
flaws, Altura has a lot to offer all year round; it will always be a part of me. Usually, it s the end of
December before I notice the lack of life. The months leading up to it are pretty busy. I m not sure
who does it, but the town gets pretty festive right before everyone leaves. The first snowfall brings out
a lot of people. Soon afterwards, the lights and decorations go up. It s funny really. The cheerful

When dealing with Military allotments, Soldiers will go out and purchase lavish and expensive items
such as cars, furniture, computers and gaming systems with ridiculous interest rates. The soldiers were
allowed to walk into businesses and purchase items with no money down and take it home the same

The Tragedy Of A Tragic Hero
FORMS
Tragedy. The protagonist (hero or heroine) is overcome in the conflict and meets a tragic end. The
tone is serious and build in the audience a fatalistic sense of the inevitability of the outcome and, as a
result, is sometimes frightening. Yet the inescapable aspects of the catastrophe serve as a catharsis that
somehow inexplicably purges the viewer of pity and fear. The significance, then, is not that the
protagonist meets with an inevitable catastrophe, but rather the degree to which he or she deals with
the conflict and the tragedy with dignity, courage, and honor.

Reckless Driving Essay
As Americans we love our cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorbikes for many different reasons. One major
reason is that they are an easy and convenient mobility; a personal mode of transportation. It is rather
hard to imagine what this county would be like without all the roads and vehicles on them. This is
abundantly evident in Arizona, where the majority of us drive to most all of our activities from going
to work or taking the kids for an ice cream. We jump into our vehicle and go. However, a curious
thing often happens when we get in our car, truck and SUVs. We sometimes change turning into
someone different when behind the wheel of our vehicle. We can become inconsiderate and aggressive
to other drivers; at times even becoming rude, crude, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are failure to yield the right of way, reckless, carless, erratic driving, failure to obey traffic signs,
and other traffic control devices, and making improper turns (AAA Foundation (2009). Arizona law
makers took notice of the dangers that are created by aggressive drivers. The lawmakers amended the
Reckless Driving Section and amended the name of the statute 28 695 to Reckless and Aggressive
Driving. Arizona statute defines aggressive driving as a situation in which a person commits a
violation of speeding and at least two other traffic violations (i.e., failure to obey traffic control
devices, improper passing, driving off the pavement or traveled portion of the highway, following too
close, failure to yield right of way, or driving in a way that is an immediate hazard to another person
or vehicle). (ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY , para. 2). This was an important step
allow law enforcement a tool to make the roads safer. The serious problem is we should be trying to
be safer on our own. The question that should be asked is why are so many people are compelled to be
dangerous drivers? It could be that there is a sense of invincibility when they are in control of a big
powerful machine. This is often the case with younger male drivers, who enjoy the thrill of dangerous
driving. In other instances normally calm, law abiding drivers snap in a fit of rage. This road rage can

Example Of Operant Conditioning
Operant conditioning is one kind of learning process demonstrated by B.F. Skinner that changes the
behavior through the use of reinforcement and punishment. A behavior can change as a result of the
individual response to stimuli that occur in the environment. According to Staddon and Cerutti (2003),
operant behavior described by Skinner as a behavior that controlled by its consequences is in practice
little different from what had previously been termed instrumental learning and what most people
would call habit (p.115). Basically, in this conditioning, the term reinforcement will be used to refer to
any event that strengthen the behavior, meanwhile the term punishment used in any event that weaken
the behavior. To emphasize, there are two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

to sound using an activity such as placing a peg in a pegboard, placing blocks in a container, stacking
rings on a stick or placing puzzle pieces into a puzzle (p.53). The children are believed to be
captivated with these games, and the games also can be used to point out a specific behavior in order
to signify a response every time he or she hear the signal (Folsom and Diefendorf, 1999). Apart from
that, clapping hands or praising the child are considered as social reinforcer that assist to exhibit the

Schooled Gordon Korman Analysis
In the book Schooled written by Gordon Korman, we follow the story of a 14 teen year old named
Cap who has lived on a farm his entire life with his grandmother hippie, who is forced to leave his
farm because his grandmother got injured. Because of this he is forced to go into our society and go to
a normal middle school and live with his guidance counselor. And because he is very different, he is a
target in middle school and because of a tradition at that middle school, which elects the weirdest
person to be school president, he becomes school president. In the book there are many craft moves

This all obviously shows characters inter thinking and as previously mentioned sets up conflict,
however the first person narrative shows what multiple viewpoints does not. By utilizing first person
narrative in the text it shows what the character s motivation is. Multiple viewpoints doesn t shows the
character s motivation because we only see what they are thinking and saying and what kind of
problems they are having but we are not seeing what they want throughout the text. However first
person narrative shows what Cap s person s goal is and how they re going to achieve it. In the text, on
page 20, Cap says, I wonder if I can just go home and get out of this place. this really shows what
Caps motivation is, because of first person narrative, it can show what Caps interthinking is, which
can show his motivation. Another goal that the author tried tried to achieve was stirring empathy. We
se throughout the text, that Cap alwayed asked questions to himself about the world around him. It s
kind of dramatic irony because he asked questions about things that knows so little about and we see
everyday. So because of this the author makes the reader feel sorry for Cap because he is so clueless.
And by the author using first person narrative, we see Caps interthinking and his questions that he
asked himself. An example of this happening is on

Racial Prejudices In Huckleberry Finn
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain is often criticized as a racist text; however, it
may have helped to dismantle racial prejudices. The classic satire piece was written in the late 1800s
and follows a young boy named Huckleberry Finn on his journey down the Mississippi river. Huck
soon joins with Jim, a runaway slave, as they both flee from their unfortunate situations. When the
book was published, it was highly controversial, due to the questionable morals of Huck Finn, and the
candid portrayal of slavery. Today, Twain is often denounced for what many see as an overuse of the n

explaining, she pecks on me all de time, en treats me pooty rough... I hear ole missus tell de widder

in part due to his love for his family, and wish to be together, but this passage reveals that he also left
due to his fear of being sold and remaining in slavery. African Americans in the media were generally
portrayed as docile and eager to work, an idea which this passage directly contradicts. When Jim

Comparing Sigmund Freud s Life And Breuer
While Freud was a medical student he was introduced to Josef Breuer through physiologist Ernst
Brucke. Josef Breuer eventually became friends with Freud and later on introduced Freud to Wilhelm
Fliess. Fliess and Breuer were two influential individuals in Freud s life and Breuer greatly influenced
the development of psychoanalysis. Josef Breuer was a Viennese physician who used hypnotism to
treat hysteria and eventually Freud also used hypnosis to treat his own patients which helped him form
his ideas on unconscious desires. Freud adopted Breuer s cathartic method in the treatment of his own
patients and it was here that he developed his ideas about the role of unconscious conflicts in hysteria

A passing Christian knocked his cap off while telling him to get out of the way and expressing how
much he disliked Jews. Instead of standing up to the Christian, Freud s father just moved out of the
way and retrieved his cap from the ground. After hearing this story Freud was greatly affected because
he lost confidence in his father as a role model. Freud later based his Oedipus Complex theory off of
Sophocles s play Oedipus the King. The story was similar to his father s story only in the play when
the main character is told to move off the road by the king the character instead retaliates and murders
the king. The Oedipus Complex is a child s desire for sexual involvement with either the mother or the
father depending on the child s gender followed by rivalry with the parent of the same sex (Breger,
2012). The Oedipal theory somewhat combines Freud s longing for his mother s attention and his
contempt for his father. Freud did not want to apply his patient s traumatic experiences to himself so
instead he applied his own experiences to his patients through this Oedipal

The Chase Approach
The Chase Approach, developed by Marian Chase, is the dance/movement therapy orientation that
continues to be studied and practiced the most to date. This orientation focuses on the therapist joining
a client on their verbal and physical level through mirroring or attunement. These interventions
involve group work that builds trust and communication through rhythmic movements. Mirroring of
the clients movements is a key rehabilitative intervention that validates their emotions on a deeply
personal and genuine level (Malchiodi, 2005, p.71). Susan Sandel, a student of Marian Chase,
identified the need to expand on the concept of mirroring through empathic reflection , which
highlighted the importance of nonjudgmental and supportive growth.

Afro-Brazilian Self-Identity in Brazil Essay
Over the past several decades there has been an increase, in Brazil, of people whom self identify as
being black or Afro Brazilian. What sparked the rise in these identities in Brazil? Was it possible
material and intellectual gains or, sparked from activism, or from other possible factors. The black
movement and affirmation of black identity came about much later in Brazil than in other countries
such as the United States. In my opinion the most important factors for the rise in these identities are
the material gains from the Quilombo Clause, the effects of affirmative action and quotas, as well as
social activism. One important reason for the increase in people identifying as black in Brazil is the
Quilombo Clause in the 1988 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this community many, who did not prior, began to identify as black in order to qualify for the
Quilombo clause and get the material gain of land. Another factor that has led to the increase in people
identifying as black is affirmative action and the quota system. In the early 2000s Brazilian
government started to introduce affirmative action with a quota system. Quotas were added for
university admissions, government jobs, film and media, among other things. Affirmative action
policies also favored places that gave fair employment to blacks (Htun). The quota systems allow
blacks to have more opportunities for jobs and other intellectual gains. These gains are an incentive
for people, whom may not have prior, to begin to self identify as black in order to qualify for them. An
example of the quota system in use are the students in Brazil deciding whether or not to apply for the
university entrance exam under the quota system in the Wide Angle segment Brazil in Black and
White . In this segment they follow five kids who are taking the entrance exam. Two of these kids
decide to apply under the quota system (Wide Angle). One of these kids is a girl who is lighter skinned
and even though she is lighter she is applying under the quota system because it would increase her
chances of getting in. Both of the girls who decide to apply under the quota system do it because it
increases their chances

The Pros And Cons Of Biomass
There are many different types of renewable resources. There s wind, solar and many more. Today we
are going to talk about one of the many renewable resources. The renewable resource is called
Biomass. So let s dive into the amazing renewable resource called Biomass.
Biomass is an organic matter that comes from plants and also from animals and it is also a renewable
energy source. Biomass can also be used as a facility heating, Electric power generation, and
combined heat and power. Using Biomass is Burning, Fermentation, and Conversion. Reason why
Biomass is a renewable source cause supplies aren t limited. And biomass reduce dependence on
foreign oil cause biofuels is the only renewable liquid.
Biomass contains stored from the sun and plants absorbs the sun s energy in process is called
photosynthesis. When the Biomass is burn the chemical energy it releases as heats. The percent of fuel
of biomass contains about 5% for this time of year. Mostly researcher are trying to find more ways to
contain more biomass fuel for years. For this year wood has the largest amount of biomass energy
resources stored today but some other natural resources can be stored as well. And also biomass has
the potential to greatly reduce greenhouse gas emission. There are some pros of biomass, but there are
also some cons of biomass. One pro of biomass is the fact that it is a renewable energy. It s renewable
by converting one year s crop into fuel, and while you are doing that,

Gendercide exists on almost every continent. It affects rich and poor; educated and illiterate; Hindu,

the government should enforce the laws against gender testing. This could be considered as to create

potential risk for taking a gender testing or some intended abortions. Generally, killing and murdering

Hays Production Code s Impact on Vertigo Essay
In 1930, the Hay s Production Code was introduced into the film industry to regulate films that were
produced. It regulated several different aspects of movie scenes containing crimes against the law,
vulgarity, sex, obscenity, profanity, costume, dances, religion, locations, national feelings, titles and
repellent subjects. (History of the Motion Picture Rating System) When scenes in films dealt with
crimes committed against the law, the Hays Production Code stated that the crimes could never be
presented in such a way to throw sympathy with the crime as against law and justice or to inspire
others with a desire for imitation. The code goes into specific detail on several different crimes and
how they shouldn t be shown in the films. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hitchcock obviously had to spend some time to create a murder that would stick into the minds of the
audience without breaking any of the rules laid out in the Hays Production Code. Another thing
Hitchcock had to deal with when making Vertigo were the different areas when Scotty and Madeleine
came close and shown the attraction they had for each other. The code states that adultery must not be
explicitly treated, justified, or presented attractively in films. It also discusses scenes of passion and
regulates what are in them by saying that excessive and lustful kissing, lustful embraces, suggestive
postures and gestures, are not to be shown. ( Motion Picture Production Code of 1930 ) Hitchcock
avoids both of these, although they are very critical to the plot of the story. First of all, Hitchcock sets
up a plot where adultery is a big part of it. Scotty falls in love with Madeleine and vice versa, even
though Madeleine is already supposedly married to the man who hired Scotty. Hitchcock is able to do
this by later showing that the woman Scotty fell in love with was a poser, so it wasn t really
committing adultery. In the scenes where they embraced each other, Hitchcock kept it simple and used
quick embraces between the two. He also threw in an awkward scene between the two when Scotty
removed her clothes and hung them up to dry, but he was able to do it in a way to throw implications
of what he d done

Default Risk And The Ways Of Identifying It Essay
Default Risk and the ways of identifying it in corporate bond market
Introduction
In bond market, there are a number of bonds offered for investors to purchase such as Treasury bonds,
municipal bonds, mortgage securities and so on. Among these various bonds, one particular kind of
bond is the corporate bond which attracts a wide range of investors with their higher return. However,
there are no free lunches in financial market. Being accompanied by the high yield, the corporate bond
investors have to face higher default risk which is the risk that the issuer will default on its debt
obligation in bond market. Especially after the 2008 crisis crunch in which vast amounts of debt
default occurred, an increasing number of investors realize the significance of identifying the default
risk in the bond investments. This essay will first consider the reason why investors ought to recognize
the default risk and secondly, will explore the different ways in which investors can identify the
default risk of corporate bonds.
Importance of recognizing default risk
In bond market, one important indicator of distinguishing the different bonds is the degree of default
risk. A good example of this is Treasury bonds and corporate bonds. These two bonds are similar in
the structure of coupon payment and the principal return, however, Treasury bonds generally may be
viewed as the free of default risk as we all know the government would not go bankruptcy easily,
which is a good option for

Corporal Punishment and the Effects of Its Usage
Corporal Punishment and the effects of its usage Corporal punishment is the ability to make physical
contact as a form of punishment for reprimanding ones behavior. Corporal punishment versus positive
reinforcement while they both serve their purpose corporal punishment is known to be more effective.
The most common form of disciplining has always been either a spanking, corporal punishment has
been dated all the way back to biblical times. Now the corporal punishment that occurred during
biblical and slavery times might not be for the greater good, however the individuals who owned
slaves thought it to help one complete their job quicker and better. If one slave didn t do something
properly or escaped corporal punishment was enforced which resulted in receiving a beating from a
long strap; this is form of corporal punishment is actual abuse, yet it deterred other slaves from
committing the same actions as others. As a result corporal punishment has been around for years and
serves its purpose for every aspect in life. Throughout my book I ll be explaining the effectiveness of
corporal punishment versus positive reinforcement. The effectiveness of corporal punishment is
something that is much more than whooping a child for wrongful doing, but it s a deterrence
mechanism within households and even schools. As a result of corporal punishment it can have a
positive and negative effect it is something that works different on all individuals, positive

The Conservative Project Upholds The Best System Of...
It is essential for people to receive the wealth and resources they have earned for the amount of work
they have contributed. That is a fact of society that is undisputable from almost every perspective.
This concept, however, is not exclusive to just the majority of society. In several ways, one can argue
that it is not just for the majority to have control over private property rights. That is why I believe that
the conservative project upholds the best system of distributing wealth and ownership. Both liberal
and conservative perspectives believe in the idea that management of capital, as well as the economic
system, should be handled by a group of leaders in the public and private world. This is a shared belief

According to lecture 10, Capital and Liberal Ideology, it is stated that The United States was the first
country created on the basis of liberal ideology, the first country whose very justification for being
created and existing came from liberal ideology. The founding document of the United States, the US
Declaration of Independence (1776) by American revolutionary leader Thomas Jefferson, is based
upon the most important founding document of liberalism. The liberal agenda focuses more on
actively helping the majority of the population through programs that aid the poor, sick, and elderly.
These have historically been paid for by taxing the working population, with wealthier citizens paying
a greater share. As seen in Lecture 55, Using Racism to Hide the Transfer of the White Majority s
Labor to Capital, there was a social program set up in 1866, which was the Freedmen s Bureau. The
premise of this social program was to help transition ex slaves from slavery to wage labor. This
movement allowed capital to form in the hands of these ex slaves. And as said, It also performed some
welfare state functions, such as education and rudimentary medicine, and was later used by the
Republicans to try to secure some rights for blacks. Liberals also focus on the regulation of major
corporations through minimum wage laws and worker safety regulations. The key defining aspect of
contemporary conservatism is the opposition to major social programs

Stars As Commodities
Furthermore, the market functions are what forms their most important aspect of all; increasing
economic advantages. The market and the industry are part of the labour that produces and distributes;
both factors interrelate with each other. However, stars contribute themselves into making
commodities; both labour and what labour produces. Dyer (2005) argues stars as commodities are
distributed in several stages. Firstly, successful commodities are created from stars with a reputable
image, as the work of fashioning the star out of the raw material of the person, varies in the degree to
which it respects what artists refer to as inherent qualities of the material; make up, coiffure, clothing,

The emphasis on human emptiness is compared to contemporary society where culture must be
somewhat positive which produces the status quo; which does not mean that art is affirmative of
bourgeois values, for to affirm those values, however limited they are, is still to affirm a value, a
positive quality, to set against the tawdriness of the achievements of bourgeois society (Dyer, 2002, p.
13). However, Dyer (2002) argues certain objections of sheer manipulation; firstly, not all
manipulation works due to stars fluctuating audience responses from their careers, i.e.: Anna Sten in
The Great Stars. In contradiction to Boorstin and Marcuse, Dyer s interpretation of manipulation are
raised against the view of the star phenomenon. Boorstin and Marcuse do not examine the content of
star images, but solely focus on the stars outer appearances and superficial content; where the stars
images are seen as acceptable in the medium and/or seen in context to their roles or filmic
representations (Dyer, 2002, p. 14). Due to fluctuating audience control and outward appearance used
as manipulation, Boorstin and Marcuse identify human consciousness to play a critical role in
manipulation as it becomes dependent towards the behavioural

Contracts For A Contract Agreement Essay
A contract is a promise or a set of promises that one party makes to another and that can be enforced
using law. Contracts are made for commercial bargains. A contract is legally binding. It entails selling
or hire of commodities such as services, goods or land. The major elements required for a legally
binding contract are offer and its acceptance . When one person expresses an offer on outlined terms
to contract and the offeree indicates that they have agreed to the set terms, the contract becomes
legally binding. There is usually no room for negotiations after a contract has been made. Therefore,
an offer that is valid must be in existence. There are requirements for existence of such a valid offer.
This essay assesses the requirements. For an offer to be valid, contracting parties in a commercial
transaction must be having an intention of entering into an agreement that is legally binding.
Therefore, both the offeror and the offeree must be ready to create a relationship that is legal in
manner . This ensures that either parties can sue the other in case they do not adhere to provisions of
the terms in the contract. If the parties are in a commercial relationship that is not legally binding, then
that is not a contract. It may be subject to contract which means that the terms of the relationship will
become legally binding once the parties sign the subsequent contract. When the interaction is subject
to contract, either of the parties is free to exit the negotiations at

THE LAST MESSAGE FROM EARTH is a sci fi thriller that features a compelling plot with a strong
moral dilemma. The script merits consider, but there are still areas that would benefit from more
development.
First, the goal is clear and the stakes are high. The opening sequence is strong with the disappearance
of young Danny. Immediately the audience is emotionally invested in the outcome.
The script does a good job of establishing the goal for the parents. The structure works well. The
opening establishes the ordinary life of Amelia and John Hart. It s clear they are scientists or

Even in a short, there could be an added scene that shows Amelia re building the machine, as well as
showing her physical and emotional struggle with building it. Perhaps a montage could highlight the
stages of the progress, as well as showing Amelia sleeping with the Teddy Bear until she completes
the machine. One might have her try it and it doesn t work. This would elevate the struggle and
anticipation. Then she figures it out. However, it s not entirely clear how she would be able to recreate
the exact same spot where Danny is.
The teddy bear is a nice plant and symbolic of the parents inner conflict. It s a nice visual reminder of
Danny. The use of the teddy bear also provides for a clever payoff when Amelia find finds the thumb
drive. However, one small note about the Teddy Bear. It might be more emotionally engaging if the
Teddy Bear is given to Danny when he s born vs. first seeing the teddy bear when he disappears.
What s not clear is the motivation for Agent Roger to help the parents. Consider showing his struggle
with his decision, or maybe he pulls out a picture of his own son. The audience will understand his
moral dilemma. They will understand he s thinking about what he would do if it were his son.
Rogers helps, but reports them missing. One assumes he s trying to cover his tracks by reporting them
gone, but hoping they already escaped. However, it s not entirely clear. Or perhaps he thought they
would escape through the side exits. Try to

Japan s Experience Of Defeat And Occupation At The End Of...
Japan s experience of defeat and occupation at the end of the Second World War has most commonly
been examined from the point of view of the conquerors. It has rarely been tackled as a Japanese
experience. John Dower attempts to understand the hopes, visions and dreams of the defeated
Japanese as they sought to remake their identity and values in the after the war. Dower examines an
array of responses from the Japanese perspective to find out how they are feeling after the war. Dower
places the Japanese against the background of an American Occupation which was at once high
minded and visionary, arrogant and imperialist. Dower tackles this theme through two narratives. The

Secondly as an observer, he maintains a deep sympathy for his subjects while still preserving an
appropriately sharp and critical moral sense as he navigates through their stories. Dower s cultural
history begins with the anguish of physically and materially shattered lives at war s end. The shock,
devastation, exhaustion and despair are listed to provide the reader a detailed narration of the events.
The depth of loss and confusion which the Japanese people experienced is vividly conveyed, notably
in Dower s accounts of the huge scale of social displacement and missing persons, and the long drawn
out period of food droughts. Against this background of economic and social misery, however, Dower
is also concerned to locate the effects of defeat on the Japanese people. Even in the pits of despair,
people were reshaping their future identity and discovering new aspirations. Dower tackles this at
three levels. First, he investigates the subcultures of defeat. The world of prostitution under the
Occupation, for example was simultaneously an area of sexual exploitation and a channel for the
growth of interracial affection and the undermining of old racial stereotypes. It was a symbol of
national shame and a conduit for new American values of luxury, and materialism that were eagerly
embraced. Likewise, the black markets were both explosions of entrepreneurial energy and a site for
violent criminal gangs. And a new urban demimonde

Research summary
1) Economic overview
There are three major economic factors that have combined contribution to FMG s growth over the
past 5 years, including the strong AUD , the amazing export feature due to the Chinese boom which
drives up the commodity price and the interest rate decision by RBA. Australia dollar has appeared
strong for the past 5 years and maintained at $6 $6.8 level for AUD/CNY at most time. It promised a
high level of foreign income for Australia exporter. In 2009, China demanded almost 60% of the
world s iron ore to produce 47% of world s steel production. It contributes the most to the price rocket
from $31.78 to $180.6 US cents/mts in 5 years time. In addition, Australia borrowing cost remains
high over the past few years which may alter the finance decisions of FMG.
2) Industry overview
The seaborne iron ore industry is very competitive globally. The company has to compete in both
domestic and international markets, facing domestic competition from BHP and Rio Tinto along with
international competition from CVRD. In order to gain market share, FMG has at least 10 contracts
with Chinese steel companies at a bellowed market price. In early 2010, the big three ore miners, BHP
in particular, have been pushing for a renovation of the annual system, arguing that shorter term
pricing would be fairer. 40 year tradition

Fascism in the Twentieth Century
Fascism in the Twentieth Century; Hitler and Nazism
Fascism is one of the most controversial political terms in modern history. The lack of a universally
accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide variety of
political contexts. Fascism developed from the destruction caused by the First World War. Its origins
can be traced, however, to the intellectual revolt against liberalism in Europe at the end of the
nineteenth century. While there was a revolutionary reaction against the ideals of the French
Revolution before 1914, it was the First World War which acted as a real catalyst for the emergence of
fascism. The war swept away the Hohenzellern, Halsburg and Romanov dynasties in Germany, ...

Although it was a complex procedure, Hitler proved himself to be both a skilled political manipulator
and an original military strategist. But above all, Hitler was a rabid ideologist. As a result of his
actions, the Hitler state destroyed the legacy of imperial and Weinmar Germany and undermined the
humane values of German culture.
Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced
economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth century
had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further from the
failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s sudden
defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918.
Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism,
Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany. Before
1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the political
fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Hitler himself, for example, although later greatly
influenced by the Austrian anti Semitism of Karl Leuger (1844 1910), was a failed art student and
architect whose personal apathy prevented him from enjoying the bourgeois (upper class) lifestyle that
he craved. He, like other failures in the German and Austro Hungarian empires, found in anti

  • 2. 1984 Apocalyptic Disaster In the book 1984 by George Orwell it shows an insight of apocalyptic disaster that Winston Smith goes through while living in totalitarianism. An apocalyptic disaster means complete destruction of the world. My article conveys how the world is running out of time and can end in a moment. Trump is making this time go faster than what it needs to be. The uplifting war with North Korea may cause the ending of the world such as what happened 27 years ago in 1991. It s expected that Trump will continue to mess things up. HE should be impeached because he is not bringing nothing to citizens but daily reckless events. The world has been in an apocalyptical time for centuries he is bringing our world more to an end which is affecting us all. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Father Son Relationship in Reunion Essay Father Son Relationship in Reunion As children we look up to our parents as role models, it is universal that we have the need to have them in our lives, to feel loved by them. They are the people who should be responsible for our upbringing and in molding the way we are to be as adults. The role of a parent is not just providing food and shelter but also providing a good example. Unfortunately, this does not always happen. There are parents who for one reason or another are not there for their children, parents who do not set the right example to their kids. In the story Reunion by John Cheever we see a perfect example of how a father does not step up to his role as a parent and the effect it has on his son. We see the need of ... The train could symbolize that this encounter with his father was a ‘quick stop in his journey in life. By not reacting with the same negative energy and by avoiding confrontation we see the growth in Charlie. We see that he has surpassed the necessity of a father figure and acceptance of being without one, even though he in fact would ve rather have one. I was terribly happy to see him again (p207) I hoped that someone would see us together. I wished that we could be photographed. I wanted some record of our having been together. (p208) and then he simply says, Goodbye, daddy. Cheever does not go into much detail regarding the setting of this story. We know that this story happens in Grand Central Station and in some restaurants but this in this case the setting is not too important. The whole setting is a microcosm in itself for such situations could happen anywhere and at any time. The title does hold some importance though. The word ‘reunion brings up pleasant thoughts. All I need is a chance at this spot to prove to you that I am worthy of Trial Moderator. You may ask why should we pick you from other people? Well I think you should pick me because I love to help out people that are in need. I always love helping out people in Teamspeak and In Game if they have any problems and other staff are busy. At the time a man had burned an American flag as a protest against government policies. Prior to that, In a controversial decision, the Supreme Court, by the closest possible margin of a 5 to 4 vote, help that a person has a right to express disagreement with governmental policies by burning the American flag. • 6. My Experience Of Music Music isn t just what I do, it is who I am. I ve been surrounded by music ever since I remember. One of my earliest memories is of my mom playing piano for my family, something she often did throughout my childhood. Time and time again, her simple melodies echoed through our cozy house and as I stood next to her, watching her hands, they also started to resonate in my heart. Even in those early years, I knew that I loved music. From then on, I took every opportunity I could to make music. I started taking piano lessons and joined church choir in third grade. However, that wasn t enough for me, and I knew I would always want more music. I had this thirst for music that I couldn t quench, and every opportunity I got just left me wanting more. This is why the day I got to pick out my band instrument was such a big day for me. It was May 15th and I woke up ready to have a good day. After so many years of waiting and watching concerts from the audience, it was finally my turn to pick out an instrument and start band or orchestra something I had been dreaming of for what seemed like an eternity. As I got to school that day, I could see the excitement and anticipation on my friend s faces, as I learned that they too were excited for band the next year. Perfect! • 7. The Importance Of Perfluorooctanoic Acid ( Pfoa ) In the 1950 s DuPont, an American industrial conglomerate, started producing Teflon at its Washington Works Plant near Parkersburg, WV; a couple of hours southeast of Columbus, Ohio on the Ohio River. Teflon is a non stick coating commonly found on water resistant clothing, cookware, among other things. One of the main byproducts of Teflon is perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), more commonly known as C8. DuPont s Washington Works plant released C8 into the air as well as the Ohio River until 2001, at which point abnormally high levels of the acid were detected in drinking water supplies throughout the river in Little Hocking, Ohio. The Little Hocking water system consists of five groundwater wells located immediately west (downstream) of the Ohio River and it took approximately 50 years for the C8 released into the Ohio River to reach the well fields. This is because contaminates were transferred via groundwater, which travels much slower than the river s surface water. However, once the C8 had infiltrated the wells, an estimated 70,000 people were exposed to contaminated water. Shortly after the harmful levels of C8 were detected in the well fields, exposure to C8 was linked to cases of kidney cancer, testicular cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, pregnancy induced hypertension, and hypercholesterolemia. As a result, in 2005, customers of Little Hocking Water (LHWA) along with five other rural water systems (Lubeck Public Service District, West Virginia; City of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Effects Of Caffeine On Oxidative Stress In the present study, the MDA level was measured as an index of lipid peroxidation in order to observe the effect of caffeine on the oxidative stress induced by AlCl3 in cortex, hippocampus and striatum brain areas. Brain tissues are more vulnerable to oxidative stress other than tissues for many reasons such as high oxygen consumption (more than 20% of the total inspired oxygen), the presence of abundant amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids which are susceptible to free radicals attack, low antioxidant levels, high iron content in addition to the non regenerative nature of neurons (Nehru and Anand, 2005; Kim et al., 2015). All these reasons may explain why brain is more susceptible to aluminum toxicity than other organs. In the present ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The present results showed that daily protection with caffeine attenuated the increase in MDA levels in AlCl3 intoxicated rats. Supporting the present finding, previous studies have revealed the antioxidant potential of caffeine against lipid peroxidation in various animal models of neurologic diseases, including Alzheimer s disease (Prasanthi et al., 2010), epilepsy (Souza et al., 2013) and Parkinson s disease (Khadrawy et al., 2017). It has been demonstrated that caffeine has the ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species (Devasagayam et al., 1996) and modulated the brain antioxidant system through increasing the content of GSH and activities of antioxidant enzymes like glutathione reductase and superoxide dismutase (Abreu et al., 2011). Generally, the antioxidant capacity of caffeine was similar to that of the established biological antioxidant GSH and significantly higher than ascorbic acid (Devasagayam et al., 1996). Accordingly, this may explain the ability of caffeine to attenuate lipid peroxidation induced by AlCl3 in the current study via direct scavenging of reactive oxygen species or by increasing GSH content and antioxidant enzymes activities. The present data revealed that daily oral administration of AlCl3 resulted in a significant increase in NO levels in the cortex, hippocampus and striatum. • 28. Hays Production Code s Impact on Vertigo Essay In 1930, the Hay s Production Code was introduced into the film industry to regulate films that were produced. It regulated several different aspects of movie scenes containing crimes against the law, vulgarity, sex, obscenity, profanity, costume, dances, religion, locations, national feelings, titles and repellent subjects. (History of the Motion Picture Rating System) When scenes in films dealt with crimes committed against the law, the Hays Production Code stated that the crimes could never be presented in such a way to throw sympathy with the crime as against law and justice or to inspire others with a desire for imitation. The code goes into specific detail on several different crimes and how they shouldn t be shown in the films. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hitchcock obviously had to spend some time to create a murder that would stick into the minds of the audience without breaking any of the rules laid out in the Hays Production Code. Another thing Hitchcock had to deal with when making Vertigo were the different areas when Scotty and Madeleine came close and shown the attraction they had for each other. The code states that adultery must not be explicitly treated, justified, or presented attractively in films. It also discusses scenes of passion and regulates what are in them by saying that excessive and lustful kissing, lustful embraces, suggestive postures and gestures, are not to be shown. ( Motion Picture Production Code of 1930 ) Hitchcock avoids both of these, although they are very critical to the plot of the story. First of all, Hitchcock sets up a plot where adultery is a big part of it. Scotty falls in love with Madeleine and vice versa, even though Madeleine is already supposedly married to the man who hired Scotty. Hitchcock is able to do this by later showing that the woman Scotty fell in love with was a poser, so it wasn t really committing adultery. In the scenes where they embraced each other, Hitchcock kept it simple and used quick embraces between the two. He also threw in an awkward scene between the two when Scotty removed her clothes and hung them up to dry, but he was able to do it in a way to throw implications of what he d done ... Default Risk And The Ways Of Identifying It Essay Default Risk and the ways of identifying it in corporate bond market Introduction In bond market, there are a number of bonds offered for investors to purchase such as Treasury bonds, municipal bonds, mortgage securities and so on. Among these various bonds, one particular kind of bond is the corporate bond which attracts a wide range of investors with their higher return. However, there are no free lunches in financial market. Being accompanied by the high yield, the corporate bond investors have to face higher default risk which is the risk that the issuer will default on its debt obligation in bond market. Especially after the 2008 crisis crunch in which vast amounts of debt default occurred, an increasing number of investors realize the significance of identifying the default risk in the bond investments. This essay will first consider the reason why investors ought to recognize the default risk and secondly, will explore the different ways in which investors can identify the default risk of corporate bonds. Importance of recognizing default risk In bond market, one important indicator of distinguishing the different bonds is the degree of default risk. A good example of this is Treasury bonds and corporate bonds. These two bonds are similar in the structure of coupon payment and the principal return, however, Treasury bonds generally may be viewed as the free of default risk as we all know the government would not go bankruptcy easily, which is a good option for ... The most common form of disciplining has always been either a spanking, corporal punishment has been dated all the way back to biblical times. Now the corporal punishment that occurred during biblical and slavery times might not be for the greater good, however the individuals who owned slaves thought it to help one complete their job quicker and better. If one slave didn t do something properly or escaped corporal punishment was enforced which resulted in receiving a beating from a long strap; this is form of corporal punishment is actual abuse, yet it deterred other slaves from committing the same actions as others. As a result corporal punishment has been around for years and serves its purpose for every aspect in life. Throughout my book I ll be explaining the effectiveness of corporal punishment versus positive reinforcement. That is a fact of society that is undisputable from almost every perspective. This concept, however, is not exclusive to just the majority of society. In several ways, one can argue that it is not just for the majority to have control over private property rights. That is why I believe that the conservative project upholds the best system of distributing wealth and ownership. Both liberal and conservative perspectives believe in the idea that management of capital, as well as the economic system, should be handled by a group of leaders in the public and private world. According to lecture 10, Capital and Liberal Ideology, it is stated that The United States was the first country created on the basis of liberal ideology, the first country whose very justification for being created and existing came from liberal ideology. The founding document of the United States, the US Declaration of Independence (1776) by American revolutionary leader Thomas Jefferson, is based upon the most important founding document of liberalism. The liberal agenda focuses more on actively helping the majority of the population through programs that aid the poor, sick, and elderly. These have historically been paid for by taxing the working population, with wealthier citizens paying a greater share. As seen in Lecture 55, Using Racism to Hide the Transfer of the White Majority s Labor to Capital, there was a social program set up in 1866, which was the Freedmen s Bureau. The premise of this social program was to help transition ex slaves from slavery to wage labor. This movement allowed capital to form in the hands of these ex slaves. And as said, It also performed some welfare state functions, such as education and rudimentary medicine, and was later used by the Republicans to try to secure some rights for blacks. The market and the industry are part of the labour that produces and distributes; both factors interrelate with each other. However, stars contribute themselves into making commodities; both labour and what labour produces. Dyer (2005) argues stars as commodities are distributed in several stages. Firstly, successful commodities are created from stars with a reputable image, as the work of fashioning the star out of the raw material of the person, varies in the degree to which it respects what artists refer to as inherent qualities of the material; make up, coiffure, clothing, dieting and body building can all make more or less ... The emphasis on human emptiness is compared to contemporary society where culture must be somewhat positive which produces the status quo; which does not mean that art is affirmative of bourgeois values, for to affirm those values, however limited they are, is still to affirm a value, a positive quality, to set against the tawdriness of the achievements of bourgeois society (Dyer, 2002, p. 13). However, Dyer (2002) argues certain objections of sheer manipulation; firstly, not all manipulation works due to stars fluctuating audience responses from their careers, i.e.: Anna Sten in The Great Stars. In contradiction to Boorstin and Marcuse, Dyer s interpretation of manipulation are raised against the view of the star phenomenon. Boorstin and Marcuse do not examine the content of star images, but solely focus on the stars outer appearances and superficial content; where the stars images are seen as acceptable in the medium and/or seen in context to their roles or filmic representations (Dyer, 2002, p. 14). Contracts are made for commercial bargains. A contract is legally binding. It entails selling or hire of commodities such as services, goods or land. The major elements required for a legally binding contract are offer and its acceptance . When one person expresses an offer on outlined terms to contract and the offeree indicates that they have agreed to the set terms, the contract becomes legally binding. There is usually no room for negotiations after a contract has been made. Therefore, an offer that is valid must be in existence. There are requirements for existence of such a valid offer. This essay assesses the requirements. For an offer to be valid, contracting parties in a commercial transaction must be having an intention of entering into an agreement that is legally binding. Therefore, both the offeror and the offeree must be ready to create a relationship that is legal in manner . This ensures that either parties can sue the other in case they do not adhere to provisions of the terms in the contract. If the parties are in a commercial relationship that is not legally binding, then that is not a contract. It may be subject to contract which means that the terms of the relationship will become legally binding once the parties sign the subsequent contract. Japan s experience of defeat and occupation at the end of the Second World War has most commonly been examined from the point of view of the conquerors. It has rarely been tackled as a Japanese experience. John Dower attempts to understand the hopes, visions and dreams of the defeated Japanese as they sought to remake their identity and values in the after the war. Dower examines an array of responses from the Japanese perspective to find out how they are feeling after the war. Secondly as an observer, he maintains a deep sympathy for his subjects while still preserving an appropriately sharp and critical moral sense as he navigates through their stories. Dower s cultural history begins with the anguish of physically and materially shattered lives at war s end. The shock, devastation, exhaustion and despair are listed to provide the reader a detailed narration of the events. The depth of loss and confusion which the Japanese people experienced is vividly conveyed, notably in Dower s accounts of the huge scale of social displacement and missing persons, and the long drawn out period of food droughts. Against this background of economic and social misery, however, Dower is also concerned to locate the effects of defeat on the Japanese people. Even in the pits of despair, people were reshaping their future identity and discovering new aspirations. Dower tackles this at three levels. First, he investigates the subcultures of defeat. The world of prostitution under the Occupation, for example was simultaneously an area of sexual exploitation and a channel for the growth of interracial affection and the undermining of old racial stereotypes. It was a symbol of national shame and a conduit for new American values of luxury, and materialism that were eagerly embraced. Research summary 1) Economic overview There are three major economic factors that have combined contribution to FMG s growth over the past 5 years, including the strong AUD , the amazing export feature due to the Chinese boom which drives up the commodity price and the interest rate decision by RBA. Australia dollar has appeared strong for the past 5 years and maintained at $6 $6.8 level for AUD/CNY at most time. It promised a high level of foreign income for Australia exporter. In 2009, China demanded almost 60% of the world s iron ore to produce 47% of world s steel production. It contributes the most to the price rocket from $31.78 to $180.6 US cents/mts in 5 years time. In addition, Australia borrowing cost remains high over the past few years which may alter the finance decisions of FMG. 2) Industry overview The seaborne iron ore industry is very competitive globally. The company has to compete in both domestic and international markets, facing domestic competition from BHP and Rio Tinto along with international competition from CVRD. In order to gain market share, FMG has at least 10 contracts with Chinese steel companies at a bellowed market price. In early 2010, the big three ore miners, BHP in particular, have been pushing for a renovation of the annual system, arguing that shorter term pricing would be fairer. 40 year tradition

The lack of a universally accepted definition for the term has meant that it can and has been applied to a wide variety of political contexts. Fascism developed from the destruction caused by the First World War. Its origins can be traced, however, to the intellectual revolt against liberalism in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. Although it was a complex procedure, Hitler proved himself to be both a skilled political manipulator and an original military strategist. But above all, Hitler was a rabid ideologist. As a result of his actions, the Hitler state destroyed the legacy of imperial and Weinmar Germany and undermined the humane values of German culture. Unlike in Italy, the rise of fascism in Germany occurred in one of the world s most advanced economies, for the German modernisation and industrialisation process during the nineteenth century had helped to create a powerful state. Political extremism in Germany developed further from the failure of the state and society to manage the complex problems arising from the country s sudden defeat at the end of the First World War in 1918. Although the First World War created the necessary conditions to enable the rise of Nazism, Nazi ideology was derived from the intellectual and political underworld of pre 1914 Germany. Before 1914, this far right ideology which was heavily focused on anti Semitism, remained on the political fringe and had little influence on domestic policies. Hitler himself, for example, although later greatly influenced by the Austrian anti Semitism of Karl Leuger (1844 1910), was a failed art student and architect whose personal apathy prevented him from enjoying the bourgeois (upper class) lifestyle that he craved.
