Mosasaur Evolution
The dominant oceanic species of the Cretaceous period was the reptilian predator, the Mosasaur.
The Tyrannosaurus Rex of oceanic fauna was a 56 foot behemoth. While there is some debate
between experts about the mosasaur s place in the pecking order of the cretaceous period, it is
fairly well accepted that mosasaurs were in general dominant to the sharks of the same period.
This is the accepted truth because mosasaurs averaged a greater size then the sharks of the time.
There are obviously a few violators of this size disparity but the mosasaur is still believed to have
been dominant. The mosasaur is generally described as being a bit like a cross between a giant
monitor lizard and a snake. Its body was shaped similarly to modern day monitor... Show more

I want to finish up by talking about why we love mosasaur. Mosasaur is the sexy marine reptile
species. It was massive, it was predatory, and it was dominant. These are all things that we, as
human beings, love. We love to look at a giant like mosasaur and imagine how terrifying it must
truly have been in life. Unfortunately because of our love for mosasaur and the reasons we love
him, we tend to make it into more than it truly was. For instance in the popular movie Jurassic
World we see a gigantic mosasaurus leap out of the water like an orca to devour a shark. That is just
not accurate. Mosasaurus was far too large to propel itself out of the water like that. Moreover
the mosasaur depicted in Jurassic World was incredibly more gigantic than mosasaur actually
was. Misrepresentation like this has led to mosasaur having a larger than life image to live up
to. To give you an idea of how large Jurassic World s mosasaur was in comparison to actual
mosasaur I have attached Figure 3 on page 6. Another reason that we love mosasaur so much is
that we know a lot about it. The fossil record that exists for mosasaurus is pretty large because of
the sheer number of mosasaurs that existed when they were dominant. There are thousands of
remains that have been found. The first mosasaur skeleton was found in the Netherlands before any
dinosaur remains had been discovered. The discovery of the mosasaur led to a new age of
understanding

Snow-Personal Narrative
I stared out of the empty window, remembering my childhood and how happy I would be when
snow would come. Now snow means winter and winter never fails to remind me of you. I
remember the way you would laugh at every joke I would tell and how wide your smile would
become when you heard about something you love or saw something beautiful. I blinked and was
wide eyed into the snow. It was bright and seemed so beautiful, but cold to the touch. Kind of like a
person.
I moved away from the cold window and tied my hair up. The house was lonely but the warmth
of the coffee and my sweatshirt made me feel cozy here. I liked the quietness and simplicity of the
place. Yet, I still couldn t get you off of my mind, no matter how hard I try it was impossible. ...

I called Abby and told her to pick me up and bring her truck so we could load the wheelchair into
the back.
When we got home, she took care of me. I slept most of the time, but I didn t mind having her
stay there and keep me healthy. She stayed with me for about a week, but she checked in every
once in awhile. I wondered if my dad would worry about me at all. My legs and arm are hurting
really bad at this point.
The person who hit my car was a boy, who was only 15 years old and had just gotten his license. He
felt very bad about it all, but I told him it was okay and that it was all my fault for being on my
phone while driving.
Soon the months went by like days, and my bones began to heal and stopped hurting so badly.
The scratches on my face became scars. I hadn t been doing anything for a while and I was lonely.
My dad had called once again, but I didn t pick up.
Maybe I would feel better for a while if Abby came over. I invited her and she came right away.
We drank hot tea, the way we liked it. We sat under blankets in the window seat, and stared into the
snow for hours it seemed. I thought to myself, Everything will be okay, it s just going to take time.
It will be okay at some

Essay on Brown-Forman Distillers Corporation
Question 1 As a leading producer, marketer and importer of wines and distilled spirits, Brown
Forman was the fifth largest distiller in the United States. But the company spent huge amount of
money advertising premium brands and significantly less on low profit brands. In the late 1970 s,
the whiskey market declined and this presented Brown Foreman with growth challenges in a
mature market. Brown Foreman s response to market pressures and competition was to
aggressively move into other faster growing segments of the alcohol beverage market which
required it to expand its product lines. The company also intended to increase its advertising spend
to $86 million to aggressively promote its alcoholic product lines. The company also... Show more

The Autobiography of Malcolm X is a national bestseller pinpointing Malcolm X s involvement in
the Civil Rights Movement and the Nation of Islam. Malcolm X expresses the journey he took to
become the momentous leader he is known as today, and tells the personal reasoning behind his
movement. Alex Haley assisted Malcolm Xin his writing, and together they produced a masterpiece.
This book appeals to those interested in social justice and reform, as well as religion and spiritual
enlightenment.

All of Haley s works serve to commemorate the treacherous struggle that blacks experienced
throughout American history.
Malcolm Little was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 19, 1925, into a family of eight children.
His father, Earl Little, was a baptist minister whose outspoken push for civil rights made him a
target to constant death threats. When Malcolm was only four years old, the family s home was
burned down. Two years later, as the threats grew more severe, Earl Little s dead body was found
in the street. The police ruled both cases as accidents, but Malcolm concluded that they were
related to the Black Legion, a terrorist group of white supremacists. Earl s death took a huge toll the
Little family. With no steady source of income, they relied on welfare. Malcolm s mother was taken
over with devastation, so much so that she was eventually admitted into a mental institution,
sending all eight Little kids to foster homes with conditions hardly better than before.
At a much too early age, Malcolm understood his role as a negro living in the early eighteenth
century. Malcolm was an intelligent kid who constantly focused on his education. When asked
what he wanted to do in the future, he told his teacher he wanted to be a lawyer. His teacher
responded with pitiful laughter, telling him that his goal was unreasonable, for black people
simply weren t good enough to be lawyers. Malcolm recalled the sheer change in heart he
experienced that day. He accepts

Critical Appreciation Of Izu No Odoriko
With his publication of Izu no Odoriko in 1926, Yasunari Kawabata gained recognition for his
work. In this story, Kawabata tells the story of a student who is traveling along the Izu peninsula.
During his travels, he meets a group of traveling performers and decides to travel amongst them.
During his time with the performers, he is able to experience a life different from his student life in
Tokyo. An image that Kawabata repeatedly presents is a drum. The student tries to listen for the
drum whenever he is alone. To the student, the sound of the beating drum signifies that his time
with the traveling performers has yet come to an end. With its high popularity, Izu no Odoriko was
translated twice by two different translators during different time periods. The first translationwas
done by Edward Seidensticker in 1954. The second translation was done by J. Martin Holman in
1997. Though both Seidensticker and Holman translated the same story, there is still difference in
their translations. With the imagery of the drum, Holman and Seidensticker relay a difference in the
intensity of emotion; furthermore, with the analyzation from Tobias, it can be seen why each
translator conveys a difference in emotion. Throughout Izu no Odoriko Kawabata repeatedly
mentions the drum that the young dancer uses in her performances. To the student, the sound of the
drum reminds him of the performers. On a subconscious level, the drum reminds the student that his

The Comparison of Marxists and Elitists Accounts of...
The comparison of Marxists and Elitists accounts of political power.
In this essay we will try to compare the Marxists and the Elitists views of political power and
what makes these views different. Before we start analyzing it should be remarked that the
Elitists approach is closely connected to the works and ideas of Gaetano Mosca, Roberts
Michels and C. Wright Mills and the founder of such an approach to studying political power (W.
Pareto), who opposed his ideas to those of Marx and Gramsci. Therefore, there is a conflict of
ideas, which is to be unveiled in this essay.
Firstly, Marxists approach to political power is to be briefly overviewed. The cornerstone of all
Marx s work is the base superstructure model every aspect of his ... Show more content on

This idea reminds of the Nietzsche s Ubermensch, who is the one to power the others. The
similarity of these ideas lies in the fact that in Elitist s theory they assume that all people are not
created equal: some are stronger, more intelligent, more artistic, etc. Of course, not all abilities
lead to economic wealth or political power however, those people who have the most of the
particular abilities which a society rewards become the political elite. Here we can draw a line to
cross out Marx s idea that people are born equal and the only thing that makes them different is
being attributed to certain social class and therefore, there personal characteristics defer the social
structure the economic structure. Another Elitist Gaetano Mosca proposed the idea that there is
a ruling elite, so called Classe Politica (political elite) and Social forces those social and
economic categories on whom the society depends on because of their particular abilities. In
other words, not the whole layer of elite actually rules political power is the representative one
social forces have a major influence in them. Moreover, political elite are also the representatives
of the masses all elites stabilize their rule by making it acceptable to the masses. This is achieved
by political formula , e.g.:

Memes In Richard Dawkins s The Selfish Gene
When identifying what a meme is, one should consider the fact that a meme is not just a
circulating picture of a cat deemed grumpy. A meme is much more complex in the sense that exist
as many different entities ranging from new concepts to new slang words, to even a development
of a new behavior that has become popular within a culture. Richard Dawkins, author of the book
The Selfish Gene who is also credited for the creation of the word memeticsstates that memes act as
units that house ideas, symbols, and behaviors that are distributed from person to person via word
of mouth, tv, magazines. According to Dawkins s theory, there is a tremendously positive
correlation between cultural evolution and biological evolution. He claims that memes are ideas

Harvey the Cat 5 hurricane that occurred on August 25th left parts of Texas 40 inches under water

the backlash he received for presiding over a church that seats over 16000 parishioners that he did
not open to the people of Houston Texas that were seeking refuge. In the beginning, Osteen stated
via twitter, that the church was inaccessible due to flooding. He then recanted his statement and

Disney Movie Research Paper
In my opinion Disney is one of the best things in the whole world! Disney makes everyone feel
happy, every single Disney movie has a lesson, and it s meant for all ages. Whether it s Disney
World or a movie, Disney never fails on bringing a smile on anyone s face. Disney movies
always throw a couple jokes that make everyone laugh, And along with that, Disney movies also
have a lesson that always gets you thinking. Therefore, I believe saying Disney makes everyone
happy is quite fair to say. As I mentioned previously, Disney movies always have a lesson along
with the entertainment. For example in the movie Beauty and the Beast the lesson t is to accept
people for who they are on the inside, and not the outside. Quoted by the narrator

Parable From The Gospel Of Luke
The Christian Scriptures is a very important area of study that allows an individual to further their
knowledge about Jesus Christ and his teachings. After reading the parable from the Gospel of
Luke helped, it helped further each of our understandings by seeing the connection that each of the
Gospels have to each other. According to Powell, a large part of the parables included in the Gospel
Luke have similarities to the Gospel Mark, even though this particular parable is only found in
Luke (Powell, pg. 151). This helped each of us learn that all of the Gospels used each others
information to portraying the teachings of Jesusin many different ways. Before this course, many of
us had not connected the gospels to each other, but after learning... Show more content on

136). While many people will probably overlook the main message of this parable, to our group,
we found that it had taught us to be more aware of those less fortunate around us. Meaning, we
act more graciously with what we have, because we easily take for granted what many people
are not blessed with. One of the most important aspects we took away from this parable is that
social status and material possessions are no guarantee of ones standing with God. The only
thing that matters is a right response to the Word of God. While an individual can sit there and
say, Of course I would extend a helping hand to someone who is suffering , they say this when
they already have all of the materials they need. But, if you were to ask someone to help the
poor who were also suffering, a large majority will say no. A large challenge of life is putting
others needs in front of your own, however people who hold faith in God are always willing to
try and help in any way that they can. God has led His people through the worst and harshest
conditions and through the hatred of many people, but His faith was never waiving. This allows
individuals the comfort of knowing that even through the hardest times, God will be there for you
and take care of you, as long as you hold faith in

Colonialism And Imperialism
The country s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until
about AD 800. (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city
of Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet
for the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after
Christopher Columbuslanded on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish
King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and CristГіbal de Olid explored the
country and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to
affect the native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the
nationalistic and racist ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native
peoples ways. An example of this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the
Spanish settlers. This battle was fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further
expansion of the Spanish ways and exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards
and their colonization set the scene for a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were
to come. Fast forward to 1821, when Central America gained their independence from Spain. When
they were granted independence Spain was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in
1813. (history.com) Since Spain was taken over and controlled by another country and one that had
turned on them after being an ally they were not too concerned with their colonies overseas due to
the Napoleonic Wars. The colonies didn t benefit France and their battles in Europe so they were
granted their independence without a fight. The brush off of these potentially new countries, did
not set them up for a successful future. It left them without much guidance and caused power
struggles throughout the area, all due to the cut off of the previous imperialistic ways. With no
larger country to help them with their creation of a new country, Honduras went through a couple
more name changes and political power discrepancies.
Just after these Central American countries were granted independence, what is

Impact Of The Six Persuasions On The 21st Century Global...
1. Introduction According to Robert Beno Cialdini there are six basic fundamental
psychological principles which affects our behaviour and help others to have influence on us.
They are also known as the six weapons of influence: reciprocity, commitment and consistency,
social proof, authority, liking, scarcity. This research is going to focus on the impact of the six
persuasions on the 21st century global economy and business relationships. Examples from
business will be used to support the views. Good reputation is company s most precious asset, in
order to keep the good name there should be a specific organizational structure depending on its
goals. Every organization has a leader and his job is to monitor the employees. Power and
influence make up the fine texture of organizations, and indeed of all interactions. Influence is
the process whereby A modifies the attitudes or behaviour of B. Power is that which enables him
to do it. (Handy C. B., Understanding Organizations, 4th ed.1993, pages 118 119), which is
Ciadini s fourth principle authority. In business very often scarcity is used by the authority to
perceive people to do what they want by setting deadlines for example. It is known that when an
individual has to finish its work by a particular date it is more productive and concentrated. On the
other hand very often employers are using pep talk to motivate their employees in order to increase
their commitment and consistency in achieving their goal. By using

Foreshadowing In Of Mice And Men Analysis
The novel Of Mice and Men uses foreshadowing successfully to build tension towards the final
tragedy. Foreshadowing is shown consistently throughout the novel in various ways including;
the introduction of Curley s wife, Lennie s constant unawareness of his own strength, and Candy
s dog being killed. These situations and scenes build towards the final tragedy of the novel
effectively. Throughout the novel, Lennie is shown to love and care for various animals and
people, however in each instance Lennie is shown to be unaware of his own strength, and
inadvertently hurts the things he loves. This builds towards the final tragedy in the novel, as
Lennie unintentionally kills Curley s wife, leading to George and Lennie s worst fears to be
fulfilled. This is also shown through George s constant precautions and his fear is stemming
from what Lennie was accused of in Weed. This also foreshadows that the ending is going to be
tragic as George is constantly thinking of the worst case scenario. The first example of Lennie s
unawareness of his own strength happens at the beginning of the novel, as it is revealed that he
had killed a mouse. George seeing this as a stepping stone to what will happen explodes saying you
always kill em (Of Mice and Men Steinbeck. J, 2006 page 14) During the novel, Lennie gets a
puppy at the beginning it seems that Lennie has grown and can care for the puppy, which George
sees as a sign of hope. George desperately wants to believe in his dream of owning

Importance Of Consumerism
Introduction
Importance of Consumerism or Consumer Movement The ancestries of consumerism can be traced
back virtually as far as the beginning of commerce and trade. In business activities, the consumer s
concept is significant, and every attempt is made to promote consumer satisfaction (Rajagopalan,
2011). In reality, consumer may be exploited and cheated by unethical businessman as they are un
organized that lacking of knowledge to safeguard their right (Rajagopalan, 2011). According to
Philip Kotler and G. Amstrong, consumerism is defined that consists of the organized effects of
citizens and private, not for profit organizational to impose the rights and power, and also collective
welfare of buyers in relation to seller (Rajagopalan, 2011). Consumerism also means that consumers
are trying to unite together to protect their own interests. So that consumer organizational could
provide and organize efforts to fight against unfair marketing practice and to achieve consumer
protection when purchasing goods and services (Chand, 2015). This is a democratic action for self
protecting and also a collective effort done by consumers to safeguard their own rights to against
their exploitation in this complex economic environment. These organized activities are also called

Jean Piajet s Theory Of Cognitive Development
Cognition is the study of the thought processes or mental activity by which we acquire or deal
with knowledge (Thomas Keenan, Sabhadra Evans 2009:157). The first theorist to look into
cognitive development systemically, and the man in which I am going to discuss in this essay
is a Swiss psychologist called Jean Piajet (Drew Weston 1959:455). Piajet viewed intelligence as
the individual s way of adapting to new information about the world (Drew Weston 1959: 456).
He believed that people used two processes to adapt to something new. These two processes are
called assimilation and accommodation (Neil R Carlson, William Bukist and G Neil Martin
2000:408). Assimilation is the process of incorporating new objects or situations into existing
schemas. Accommodation is the process of altering existing schemas or creating new ones to
deal with objects or experiences that don t fit readily into existing schemas (Jeffrey S Nevid
2009:354). Piajet believed that at different age s people use a different logic to develop their
thoughts. The stages of development introduced by Piajet are the Sensorimotor stage, the
Preoperational stage, the Concrete operational stage and the Formal operational stage. The stage
in which I am going to discuss in detail in this essay is the second stage of Piajet s theory or the
Preoperational stage, as I believe it will be the most relevant stage to myself in my future
profession (Drew Weston 1959:457). The preoperational period lasts from approximately age two
to age seven... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Effect of Audio Multitasking and Visual Multitasking...
Multitasking is an idea that many people believe saves time and helps complete tasks in a shorter
amount of time. However, theory suggests that by doing the same type of multitasking tasks, it
would be too strenuous to remember what you just did since both activities were almost the same.
This research paper aims to evaluate how the same type of multitaskingaffects the memory of
humans. Data from twenty seven people were collected in which they had to perform two types of
multitasking activities and take a testto see how much they could remember. Results show that most
participants scored lower test scores on the audio multitasking test compared to the visual
multitasking test and that the female participants obtained a test average... Show more content on

Moreover, performance on individual tasks may suffer such that errors are made and overall
productivity is diminished. (para. 2) also in 2009 Ophir, Nass, and Wagner advised, Moreover,
chronically high multitaskers were more readily distracted by both irrelevant external stimuli and
recently activated internal representations during singular task performance. Overall, people are
more easily distracted if they tend to multi task often.
Many scientists dispel the idea that multitasking is in fact an efficient way of getting things done.
For example, in a study conducted by Clapp, Rubens, Sabbharwal, and Gazzaley (2011) concluded
that, multiple tasks increase task difficulty/complexity, resource capacity limitations, increased
crosstalk conflict, and greater bottleneck processing limitations. This shows that there is a plethora
of research done to prove the ineffectiveness of multitasking. Yet research done in 2013 by Shih
reveals, behavioural and brain research suggests that multitasking is challenging and often stressful
and unproductive. However, most multitasking research observes participants conducting two
cognitive tasks that do not involve media per se (except that tasks are often computerised) This
reveals that most multitasking occurs with the use computers or technology however, many test
subjects and experiments lack that certain

Future implications: 1. Due to this accident and many other UAV incidents CASA has
responded to this issue by enforcing and creating new rules when operating a drone. This year
2016 CASA has introduced strict rules for drone operators such as, drones being kept more than
30 metres away from other people and must not be flown over crowds at beaches or sporting
events. (Digital life, 2016). Drones also need to be operated in daylight where the operator can
see them and should be kept for at least more than five kilometres from airports while staying
below 121 metre height limit. CASA also made deals with major drone companies to include the
regulations inside each box and also covering the importance of appropriate operational controls
and procedures covering drones. (RPAS, 2016) These strict rules are not only because of the
increasing numbers of incidents but because of the increasing number of drone s in the air.
Anybody can purchase a drone from fifty dollars to thousands of dollars making it such an
affordable and accessible toy. Because they are airborne objects drones represent threats to people

Disadvantages Of Virtual Reality
Virtual reality technology has been utilized in many fields since the years following the second
World War. Pilots trained for flying and medical doctors even practiced surgeries. As time has
progressed this virtual reality has been improved. By the early 1990 s visual effects were paired
with audio to enhance the experience even further (Schafer 2016). This gave way to what many
know as contemporary virtual reality, wherein participants wear a headpiece that projects an
augmented version of reality combining sight and sound. This technology is commonly used by
gamers for entertainment purposes, but has more recently come under the investigation of
medical professionals all over the world wondering if this technology could be of use to them. A
number of studies have been published revealing the benefits of virtual reality technology being
used as therapy for a number of different populations. Virtual reality technology needs to be more
widely utilized in the medical field because it has to ability to be fine tuned to the needs of all
patients, it can be used to treat both physical and psychological illnesses, and these improvements
can be observed from numerical results. Accompanying the ever improving, vastly changing world
of technology has come the concept of virtual reality. As it has existed most recently in the
mainstream to serve entertainment purposes, it has also made its appearance in the medical world.

Food, The Essentials Of Food And Food
Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually from plant
or animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or
minerals. The substance is ingested by an organism and assimilated by the organism s cells to
provide energy, maintain life, or stimulate growth. Historically, people secured foodthrough two
methods: hunting, and gathering of agriculture. Today, the majority of the food energy required by
the ever increasing population of the world is supplied by the food industry. There are seven
classes of nutrients such as: carbohydrate, proteins, minerals, vitamins, water, roughages(fibers)
and fat. Carbohydrate: are human and animals main source of energy. Proteins: essential for
growth, repair of muscles and other body tissues. minerals: Michael Demetrius defined minerals as
an inorganic compound that aid in energy production and body maintenance as well as assisting in
the control of body reactions. Vitamins: refers to water and fat soluble vitamins which plays a
significant role in many chemicals processes in the body. Water: essential for normal body function,
water plays a vital role in digestion. The human body holds 60% of water. Roughages(fibers): the
fibrous indigestible portion of our diet essential to health of the digestive system. Fat: one source of

Priyanka Chopra Controversy

Being a powerful figure and an icon for the people, they fail to realize that their act, words, or
attire may drag them into the centre of storm. Though they do so inadvertently, their conduct
becomes an issue for debate. Priyanka Chopra has become the hot topic of debate recently when
she shot for a cover page of a travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveller. Though the cover page is
not obscene, the reason of her being in the middle of the controversy is the top she is wearing
which has four words out of which Refugee, Immigrant, and Outsider, are struck off in red,
whereas Traveller is intact and clear. As soon as the magazine was out, there was a huge uproar on
social media. Many Twitteratis found it insensitive and reckoned that nobody becomes a refugee
out of choice. While Priyanka has not given any explanation on her top, the magazine spokesperson
came forward and clarified that the wordings on the top has been interpreted wrongly and their

The Ghost of Toni Morrison s Beloved Essay
The Ghost of Beloved
One of the most engaging arguments about Toni Morrison s book Beloved is centered around the
nature of the girl Beloved. The argument is whether Beloved is simply a young woman who
herself had suffered the horrors of slavery, or the ghost of Sethe s crawling already? baby girl. The
evidence shows that Morrison intended Beloved to be the ghost of the crawling already? girl.
It has been said that there are basically two reasons why ghosts walk: they have either unfinished
business to attend to of have died a very violent death. The crawling already? girl fits both of these
profiles. She died without growing up, without knowing why she died. As a result, she has
unfinished business with her mother, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Beloved arrived, the scene was described with, Here Boy nowhere in sight. Here Boy could
sense that Beloved was the ghost and didn t want to be hurt again. Also, at the end of the book
when Beloved was already gone, Here Boy returned.
One of Paul D s biggest questions about Beloved was her skin. Her skin was like new skin,
lineless and smooth, including the knuckles of her hands . Most women in that time had lined,
callused, scarred hands by the time they were nineteen the scarring from playing when they were
children and lines and calluses from the housework. The crawling already? girl died when she
was one with baby new skin. It didn t have the time to become spoiled by labor and play.
Beloved also had trouble keeping her head up. She would, [rest] her head in the palm of her hand
as though it were too heavy for her neck alone. When Sethe killed the baby girl, she held its head
up because she had cut so deeply, it almost severed the girl s head. If the Beloved were the ghost,
she would have great troubles holding her head up because her neck had been severed.
When a person dies, certain things happen to their bodies. For instance, they become very cold
because the heart is no longer pumping blood through the body. All the blood stops, and settles
everything cools off. Also, bodies become very dehydrated because their is no more fluids being
ingested. When Beloved arrives, she is very cold and drink a lot of water. An

Designing A New Computer System

Three friends have asked me to configure a new computer for each one of them. The first one is a

The two have been tested against one another, and honestly there is really not much different

faster than the HD. I am going to go with the SSD with this gaming system because it loads
faster, transitioning maps throughout the game is significantly faster, and overall it means that
your computer will boot at a significantly faster. Overall one would have a better experience
because it makes the overall functionality of the computer better as a whole. The Samsung 840
EVO 240 GB would be a great one to choose. It can be found for $129.99. It is a little on the
pricey side, but it will be well worth it. Next we need to configure a reliable computer system for
my friend that has a small, at home travel agency. With this system I would also recommend
buying an already made system, and perhaps doing a few upgrades. Dell has the OptiPlex 3020
Micro which is a descent system for an at home business. It comes with an Intel Pentium
G3240T Processor which is dual core with HD Graphics. This dual core processor has plenty of
horsepower to work with for a small business, so there is really no need in upgrading this to a quad
core processor. It will allow you to answer e mails while running Word, Excel, and PowerPoint,
along with the Web browser. It also comes with 4 gigabytes of RAM, and there is

Washington Monuments History
Starting with victory in their Revolution, there were many proposals to build a monument to
Washington. After his death, Congress authorized a suitable memorial in the national capital, but
the decision was reversed when the Republicans took control of Congress in 1801. The Republicans
were dismayed that Washington had become the symbol of the Federalist Party; furthermore, the
values of Republicanism seemed hostile to the idea of building monuments to powerful men.[200]
Further political squabbling, along with the North South division on the Civil War, blocked the
completion of the Washington Monument until the late 19th century. By that time, Washington had
the image of a national hero who could be celebrated by both North and South, and memorials to
him were no longer controversial.[201] Predating the obelisk on the National Mall by several
decades, the first public memorial to Washington was built by the citizens of Boonsboro, Maryland,

Kallistos Ware Beliefs
One of the most important characteristics of faith that Kallistos Ware highlights is the idea that
much, if not all, of one s relationship with God, is based off of instinctive feelings as opposed to
other feasible elements. As Ware states, Faith is not the supposition that something might be true,
but the assurance that someone is there. Faithin God, as Ware explains in this quotation, is not
merely believing in God due to elements of scripture or teaching, but is instead something that
occurs after personal experiences that provide a basis for the presence of God in one s life.
Additionally, these personal experiences not only need to occur, but also need to be interpreted and
attributed to God. However, this can be difficult for many,

Why I Want To Go To Chinese Immigration Essay
I m an American born Chinese woman who loves an adventure. Exploring new places and
learning about my heritage is the reason why I want to go to China, since I ve never traveled

my family went to China except me. I ve been exposed to the Chinese culture when I lived in
Brooklyn, but lost it after my grandmother passed away. In Brooklyn, I lived in a predominantly
Chinese neighborhood, but at age 5 I moved to New Jersey, to a town where there were no Chinese
families. After years of reconnecting with Asian families in New Jersey, this sparked my interest in
traveling to China.

Literary Elements Of Sherlock Holmes
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes many detail oriented literary elements to develop the many
adventures of the famous fictional British detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner, John Watson.
Long winded description and complex vocabulary are infused into Doyle s writing to accentuate
Holmes s great intelligence. By incorporating such a heavy, educated tone upon the mysteries, the
tales of Sherlock Holmesare expressed as very complicated stories that challenge readers in
comprehension as well as encourage curiosity through puzzling cases. One of the most important
literary features of Doyle s works is the use of dialogue and conversations held between characters,
whether it be Holmes, Watson, a victim, and so forth. It seems that a key... Show more content on

Another factor to consider is how Holmes is written to be asking Watson even though he
understands that Watson is not on the same page. This curious occurrence in the interactions
between Holmes and Watson may also elevate the status Holmes imposes on the text and to the
readers.
Not only can the dialogue bring life to the story, but it can tell the story itself, as seen in many
instances in which Holmes has wrapped up another mystery. Most cases are concluded with a
recollection of events and revealing hints that only Holmes knew of, presented almost
conversationally from Holmes to Watson. With his first person account of the mystery, Doyle
uses Holmes to clarify any remaining confusion or questions that linger in readers minds as the
chapter ends. While it is repetitive after several cases, granting Holmes with such large chunks of
dialogue eliminates the need for boring, lengthy straight forward narration. A good example of
the use of retelling in dialogue in place for narration can be found in The Red Headed League. A
combination of complex writing and sophisticated vocabulary also follow the genius detectives
mysteries and help to represent his intelligence through Doyle s skillful work. Each story is written
with extensive vocabulary as well as depth, which also alludes/attributes to Holmes himself.
Therefore, Doyle was careful to ensure that the professional nature of Holmes was also conveyed

The Gods In The Iliad
In Greek Mythology, gods and goddesses were assigned gifts related to specific aspects of nature.
It explained to people the origin of the universe and how the world operates. The ancient Greeks
were basing these scientific concepts solely based on their beliefs alone, which resulted in stories
that included the gods swooping in and interfering with human affairs. Many of those recorded
stories, including Homer s The Iliad, can be interpreted in two ways: either the actual gods have
appeared before a protagonist or that there was a natural occurrence that had no scientific
evidence to clarify what it was. Book 5 of The Iliad shows several occasions where this occurs,
and each example presented in this essay will argue if it shows that the gods are physically
present in the story, or the gods are used only as metaphors for a scientific phenomenon. On the
first line of page 164, Homer describes a scene where Athenagives Diomedes strength and daring
to ... shine forth and tower over the Argives and win himself great glory (Hom. Il. 5.2 3). The
reality of the situation is that Diomede s sudden surge of energy is most likely coming from the

upon all that the Greeks have created a belief system that describes science in a beautifully abstract
way. Through them, humans will begin to identify certain human occurrences and discover a more

The Exodus Of The Old Testament
Exodus is the earliest text in the Old Testament that creates a new identity and sense of
community to a group of people who had nothing. According to the Exodus there were a group
of slaves who fled Egypt and where led by a prophet named Moses, who also is the proclaimed
author of the book. These people where on a mission to find the promise land where they can be
free from oppression and create their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this
day, but the text was written around the 1400 B.C. Mosesintentions for Exodus were to set laws
for his new community to a group of people who had only knew lives as slaves. In chapter 21 of
Exodus there are a set of laws for the new community that pander to push away their old lives to
create a new identity in which men can be equal with one another. The second verse within
chapter 21 states, if thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he
shall go out free for nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately the author set a law that if there are
slaves then they must be released within six years, which creates hope for potential slaves.
Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of any of them being set
free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new community that will release their male
slaves. During this era men were dominant while women are treated as property and evidence can
be found in Exodus of this inequality. If his master have given

I am not saying just go to war for any reason we see fit, but have it as a last resort, when the other

we must support our country. We can take roles in the army as non combatance if it is necessary
for us to actually go out to war, but whatever we do it is our duty to our country to show support
and be involved so we can make sure that the war is just for what is necessary and not taken out
of hand. You see, if we stay out of war then our country and way of living will be threatened all
together, but most of us do not wish to go in headfirst and kill everyone who opposes us. We just
find a median where we can help control what is going on and seek the best possible outcome for
the world in which we live in.
The next topic that we will discuss is the Christian s involvement in matters relating to the division
of church and state and religious liberty. I believe that a

Micro Perspectives On Technological Competition
2. Micro perspectives on technological competition.
2.1 What determines the technological competitiveness in markets?
Competition in a technology market represents that two or more technology companies, firms
compete there, in the same business area. When a company decides to enter a new market and to
continue own business there, then one of the most important things is that, regard to the
competition. The main characteristics for determining the competition are:
What are the weak and strong sides of the competition?
What are the best ways for gaining the dominance in the competition?
What is necessary for competing with other firms?
Competitiveness does not just depend on the cost of factors of production, or on a specific
technological advantage. Rather, it depends on continuous innovation, high level skills and
learning, an efficient communications and transport infrastructure, and a supportive enabling
environment. Each of these aspects is discussed below in greater detail.
Each firm competitor is different. So all of these firms have different plans separately. When we
talk about the competition and the main distinguish determinants of this competition, it is very
important to describe the whole competition. Always we can do it by talking around perfect
competition . This also helps us to describe the market structure. It s very clear that, if perfect
competition exists in a market, then the firms are price takers. When each firm in this market
produces a

The Killer Cats Are Winning Analysis
Cats, are a common household in America and are known to outnumber dogs as pets. Natalie
Angier talks about this in her article The Killer Cats Are Winning! I think cats should be allowed
to be outdoors. Cats are playful animals, they are great pets, and I own one.
Natalie Angier, discusses that we spend a lot of money on cats; yet cats are wild at heart. Peter P.
Marra and Chris Santella authors of Cat Wars, view cats as cuddly killers. Cats are viewed as
invasive species as a contamination to the environment. Outdoor cats are a threat to wildlife as
predators. Also cats are a danger to human health from different types of illnesses. The Trap Neuter
Return (TNR), view cats as human alternative to euthanizing strays.

The man behind this was, David Lyall in 1894 he decided to bring along his female cat to the
island. Lyall was an amateur naturalist studying the biological bounty. Wasn t this guy smart
enough not to take the cat along? On the island there was flightless songbirds but they went extinct
because of the cats. The flightless songbird would have not been extinct today if David would
have not gone with the cat. Plus, those birds cannot fly so obviously they were going to die.
As this article continues to be bias. A research in 2015, showed proof that cat killed many animals.
But when asked by cat owners 98 percent did not car. Also they did not want the cats inside all of
the time. Plus, the research showed 60 percent did not think their cats were doing harm to the
environment. This is proving that people do not see harm from cats whether they are outside or to
the environment.
I do not agree with this article because the entire thing is bias towards cats. There are more cat pets
over dogs. Cats should have the freedom to be outdoors, not get blamed for the destruction of the
environment and more studies should be done on how cats are worthy rather than the immoral

Genophilosophy Essay
Genophilosophy
ABSTRACT: Contemporary progress in life sciences, particularly in genetic engineering, is
changing our concept of human being and a whole series of other philosophical and common
notions. The conventional idea of subject will no longer be the final reference for philosophical
thinking, since even the subject qua biological or psychological structure will enjoy a high degree
of unpredictability. The results of gene technology require reinterpreting such concepts as
reproduction, individuality, history, freedom and subjectivity. This paper focuses on the question of
freedom, where freedom means the capacity to deliberate and choose between different alternatives
of action. We hold that the issue of freedom is relevant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gene technology requires dealing with, and reinterpreting terms such as reproduction, individuality,
history, freedom and subjectivity. Many people consider 1989 as the symbolic turning point, when
the epoch of history and society started to be replaced by the epoch of biotechnology, genetic
engineering or most recently evolution technology. We can say, that we are at the beginning of a
genetic epoch (genepoch) or as Manfred Eigen (Steps Towards Life, Oxford University Press,
1992) calls it the era of molecular biology . In this vision of history, having solved the disputed
questions of society in the practice and theory of democracy, mankind begins a new historical
period, the genetic period, where even the terminology of history will be a completely new kind.
Avant garde philosophers develop a new approach for investigating the genetic structure of all
traditional problems instead of further exploring the society, language, knowledge or physical
world. The protagonists of this new paradigm think, that after such kind of leading principals of
philosophical discussions as democracy , socialism , subject and causal sciences , there will be a
new leading idea, which by the analogy of neuronalism and cognitivism, should be called genetism.
It is not our goal here to review all the possible (medical, social, etc.) implications, which could be
involved in genetic research and in the development of

Offensive Word Essay
The main issue is the use of a word that many find offensive, in a book that many consider to be
one of the greatest American novels. To make the book more accessible to a greater number of
people, New South Books has reprinted Huckleberry Finn changing that offensive word to slave
. The argument has two sides, on one side of the argument we have the scholars who believe that
removing the offensive word from the book changes the book and makes the impact of the book
less significant; the other side of the argument is those who say changing the word to a less
offensive word takes away the impact and importance of the book. The first side who is in favor of
the word being included in the book believe that talking about the word is important... Show more

He read a quote from the book that puts Huck Finn and Jim on the same side and not against each
other based on their race. Mark Twain put the offensive word there to grab the reader s attention
and every time the word it read it does just that. Others feel that the use of the word 219 times in
the book is excessive and disrupts the message of anti slavery. Was Mark Twain just trying to
capture the manner in which people spoke back in Huckleberry Finn s time, which is what those
in favor of keeping the offensive language in the book believe? I get the sense that Byron Pitts
does feel uncomfortable with the word being used, for this reason he seems to sway towards the
side in favor of censoring the book. He seems to ask for more of an explanation from David
Bradley than he does from Williams, this is another reason I think he leans towards the censoring
of the word. It is hard for me to say which side I am on. Changing literature because people are
offended by it does change the feel of a book. The same way censoring works of art changes

Epipen Research Paper
There is no doubt that the study of chemistry has changed the world dramatically. Under the right
circumstances, many advances in the realm of chemistry can save lives. The EpiPenВ® has been
a wonderful chemical developed tool, aiding in potentially lethal allergic reactions such as
anaphylaxis. It is important to understand what an EpiPenВ® is, and how it works to one day
save a life if necessary. What will further be discussed is what an EpiPenВ® is, how it is made,
used, and how it works chemically in the human body.
The EpiPenВ® is an auto injecting pen made with epinephrine. Epinephrine commonly known as
adrenaline, is a chemical compound with the formula C9H13NO3. Epinephrine is a
sympathomimetic hormone, meaning a hormone that produces physiological effects in the body
from the sympathetic nervous system.2 Epinephrine, or adrenaline is naturally produced in the
adrenal medulla. Upon its release in the body, causes vasoconstriction or the shrinking of blood
vessels, stimulates the heart, and opens up the bronchi in the lungs. Epinephrine is a compound
classified as a Catecholamine. A Catecholamine is a monoamine, an organic compound with a

be anything from dust, food products such as peanuts, shellfish, nuts, and even insects and sting
like bees and wasp stings. Life threatening symptoms of anaphylaxis include dizziness,
unconsciousness, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, and fast heart beat. The most serious
threat to the human life during anaphylaxis is the lack of oxygen, O2. With lack of O2 the brain
begins to lose brain cells. The brain is in control of all the systems in the body as more time passes
without O2 organs begin to fail and the heart also stops beating.4 Other symptoms of swelling of

average price of a housing unit in LA is right around $590,000, while the average price for renting
a one bedroom apartment is $1,949. If you want a two bedroom apartment, the price rockets up to

commuting by car a tad faster. The other alternative is using public transportation in which the
cost for a single ride on the LA metro is $1.75, and a 30 day pass is priced at 100$. With all the
mass transportation, LA s environment is taking a beating. In 2013, the Los Angeles ranked
number 1 in most ozone polluted city, 4th most polluted city by annual particle pollution, and
the 4th most polluted city by 24 hour particle pollution. All the pollution could potentially lead
to respiratory harm, early death, and even cancer. California implemented the Diesel Emissions

Causes And Effects Of Gettysburg
The American civil war
This text will be a summary of the most gruesome battle in the entirety of the civil war as well as a
little bit about the causes and effect of the Gettysburg battle. Which is arguably the most important
moment of the entire war.
The Civil war waged for an entire 4 years. Between the year 1861 and 1865. And the opponents in
the war were the United States against the Confederate states. This infamous split was due to the
fact that Lincoln became commander in chief of the United States, and because publicly pitted
himself against slavery and wished to work against the abolishment. The fact that this was an open
opinion led to great upset, mostly in the south were nearly the entire economy was based around

Summary Of Baseball In April And Other Stories By Gary Soto

Gary Soto
Gary Soto is a very shrewd American poet, novelist, and memoirist. Being a Mexican American,
Soto emphasizes latino culture in his writings. He also uses his experiences from living in the
barrios of central California to create conflicts and characters.
Growing up, Mexican Americans in Fresno California, Soto s Family, were farmers and factory
workers. Several quotes from the article, About Gary Soto, give information on Soto s family.
For example, the article quotes, everyone in his family was a field or factory worker. ( About )

uses spanish to emphasize a connection towards poverty and how people of wealth were mostly
looked upon when in the barrios. Another example is shown when Soto quotes They shook
hands, raza style, and jerked their heads at one another in a saludo de vato. (Soto 53) Saludo de
vato is spanish for any type of greeting like wassup or whats hanging. Soto tries to connect to the
hispanic culture within his hometown, Fresno, California. Soto also quotes His father, who was

The Working Poor Essay
American factories can comprise of about up to 1000 workers. If American factories are shut
down and moved to other countries, this takes many American people out of work. Companies are
now also importing jobs. This is where employers hire people such as immigrants to work less
than minimum wage. For that reason, many Americans are stuck with the other minimum wage,
and low paying jobs that barely get them through life. Because of this, many Americans are
working full time jobs that are below the Federal poverty line. These types of people are often
called the working poor. Due to this the working poor have to run to welfare. This affects all
Americans because taxpayers are the ones paying for welfare. The more jobs that are taken... Show

These immigrates do not have any problems with there wages because they made little or less in
their home country. In the past decade, American jobsscreamed out of the United States at an ever
accelerating rate of speed, says Wooldridge, While American workers stood in unemployment
lines, major corporations insourced, outsourced and offshored jobs to Third World countries.
Why? They could obtain labor for $1.00 an hour and sometimes less. Capitalism knows no
loyalty to man, beast or country. One example of a corporation exercising this scheme is Bank of
America. This company cut 5,000 jobs, and sent 1,250 of them to India. The company has also
announced that they would cut 12,000 in the next two years or so. General Electric has also sent
jobs to India. The company has sent about 12,000 jobs to India.
Foreign workers cost less. Sometimes it costs a lot to move jobs overseas for expenses like legal
fees, training and security. But wages in many foreign countries are so much lower than wages
here that the move usually pays for itself. The average computer programmer in Northern
Virginia, for example, makes more than $50,000 a year. Compare that to a typical programmer in
India, who earns less than $10,000 for the same work. The same is true for lots of different jobs in
many different countries. (American Jobs Move Overseas).
There are Americans that work full time at minimum wage and are still under the Federal poverty

Margaret Sanger Vs Betty Friedan
Throughout history, leaders of political and social movements have designed slogans and
catchphrases to mobilize ordinary citizens into political and social activists. Historically, activists
such as Nelson Mandela, Mohandas Gandhi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and countless
others have, in their speeches and writings, created a perfect pairing of words that persists in the
mind of the listener. Two such activists of the Twentieth Century were Margaret Sanger
and Betty
Friedan. Friedan and Sanger greatly influenced the women s rights movement; despite both being
feminists, however, their personal beliefs in terms of other civil rights movements often fell at
opposite ends of the spectrum. Both Friedan and Sanger popularized phrases which empowered
their respective followers and similar activists to push back against a system designed to repress
them; the phrases that the two activists used, however, reflected their different brands of activism
and revealed their differences of opinion on who mattered both for and in the Women s Rights
Movement. : Sanger with the phrase birth control and Friedan with the term feminine mystique.
Betty Friedan, who lived from 1921 2006, constructed her activism through her writing. She wrote
for trade unions and magazines, and later, at the age of 42, published her best known work The
Feminine Mystique. This book stirred up a following among urban, white, middle class American
women who felt that their male counterparts

Essay Of Franz Kafka s Metamorphosis
In the book, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor has moved down the social ladder to
the worst because of the loss of money. The novella follows the Marxist theory where Gregor
who represents the lower class, is exploited and eliminated. As part of the proletariat who sells his
labour power for wages, he does not own the means of production and thereby has no authority
over his very life. His limited powerresults in torture, mistreatment, exploitation, and ultimately
death.
In the first section, Gregor demonstrates the power he once had because he brought in money for
the family to spend. Because of this power and authority, he was able to get away with a lot of
things like freedom. However overall, the one with all the power is the family. They were the
ones demanding resources because Gregor was actually under them. Once Gregor was not able
to work he was quickly dropped by his family and shunned. He was sent to a room for himself
and he was supposed to live there for the time being. The family did not realize they had after
begging Gregor s manager to have Gregor keep his job. Their desperation showed the amount of
power money had on people and it determined the ranking. Without any more money the Samsa s
had to work for their own and their bitterness started to build up. This phenomenon hurt the whole
family because they had lost all consideration for the future (15). The family s first reaction to this
was that Gregor had to handle the situation himself,

International Market Analysis For A Growing Firm
Luigi Vittatoe Professor Stanley Klatka BUS1801 Global Business Perspectives October 5, 2015
International Business Paper Introduction For a growing firm, the international market represents
one of the avenues to achieve growth and expansion. The global market, through trade, has been an
engine of growth, for example, world trade has been growing at seven percent since 1945,
becoming a contributor to economic growth. The international market has facilitated global trade
and the integration of economies. Therefore, it has enabled countries to exploit its comparative
advantage. The following report looks at the international market entry strategies, reasons for
selecting the topic, new relevant materials learned facts about the topic and the unexpected facts
relating to it. Reasons for choosing the topic International market entry is important because it
enables an organization to increase its output and attract new customers. By expanding the
customer base and the scale of production, the business will be able to achieve economies of scale.
That is, the organization can be able to reduce the average cost per unit of production when the
level of output is substantially increased (Stephan and Roin 28). After international expansion, cost
advantages and higher profit be obtained through bulk purchasing, enjoying high turnover rate and
paying lower interest rates on loans. For the business firm to grow, it has to find new opportunities
of expansion. The opportunity for

  • 2. Mosasaur Evolution The dominant oceanic species of the Cretaceous period was the reptilian predator, the Mosasaur. The Tyrannosaurus Rex of oceanic fauna was a 56 foot behemoth. While there is some debate between experts about the mosasaur s place in the pecking order of the cretaceous period, it is fairly well accepted that mosasaurs were in general dominant to the sharks of the same period. This is the accepted truth because mosasaurs averaged a greater size then the sharks of the time. There are obviously a few violators of this size disparity but the mosasaur is still believed to have been dominant. The mosasaur is generally described as being a bit like a cross between a giant monitor lizard and a snake. Its body was shaped similarly to modern day monitor... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to finish up by talking about why we love mosasaur. Mosasaur is the sexy marine reptile species. It was massive, it was predatory, and it was dominant. These are all things that we, as human beings, love. We love to look at a giant like mosasaur and imagine how terrifying it must truly have been in life. Unfortunately because of our love for mosasaur and the reasons we love him, we tend to make it into more than it truly was. For instance in the popular movie Jurassic World we see a gigantic mosasaurus leap out of the water like an orca to devour a shark. That is just not accurate. Mosasaurus was far too large to propel itself out of the water like that. Moreover the mosasaur depicted in Jurassic World was incredibly more gigantic than mosasaur actually was. Misrepresentation like this has led to mosasaur having a larger than life image to live up to. To give you an idea of how large Jurassic World s mosasaur was in comparison to actual mosasaur I have attached Figure 3 on page 6. Another reason that we love mosasaur so much is that we know a lot about it. The fossil record that exists for mosasaurus is pretty large because of the sheer number of mosasaurs that existed when they were dominant. There are thousands of remains that have been found. The first mosasaur skeleton was found in the Netherlands before any dinosaur remains had been discovered. The discovery of the mosasaur led to a new age of understanding ... • 3. Snow-Personal Narrative I stared out of the empty window, remembering my childhood and how happy I would be when snow would come. Now snow means winter and winter never fails to remind me of you. I remember the way you would laugh at every joke I would tell and how wide your smile would become when you heard about something you love or saw something beautiful. I blinked and was wide eyed into the snow. It was bright and seemed so beautiful, but cold to the touch. Kind of like a person. I moved away from the cold window and tied my hair up. The house was lonely but the warmth of the coffee and my sweatshirt made me feel cozy here. I liked the quietness and simplicity of the place. Yet, I still couldn t get you off of my mind, no matter how hard I try it was impossible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I called Abby and told her to pick me up and bring her truck so we could load the wheelchair into the back. When we got home, she took care of me. I slept most of the time, but I didn t mind having her stay there and keep me healthy. She stayed with me for about a week, but she checked in every once in awhile. I wondered if my dad would worry about me at all. My legs and arm are hurting really bad at this point. The person who hit my car was a boy, who was only 15 years old and had just gotten his license. He felt very bad about it all, but I told him it was okay and that it was all my fault for being on my phone while driving. We sat under blankets in the window seat, and stared into the snow for hours it seemed. I thought to myself, Everything will be okay, it s just going to take time. It will be okay at some ... • 4. Essay on Brown-Forman Distillers Corporation Question 1 As a leading producer, marketer and importer of wines and distilled spirits, Brown Forman was the fifth largest distiller in the United States. But the company spent huge amount of money advertising premium brands and significantly less on low profit brands. In the late 1970 s, the whiskey market declined and this presented Brown Foreman with growth challenges in a mature market. Brown Foreman s response to market pressures and competition was to aggressively move into other faster growing segments of the alcohol beverage market which required it to expand its product lines. The company also intended to increase its advertising spend to $86 million to aggressively promote its alcoholic product lines. The company also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Autobiography Of Malcolm X Is A National Bestseller The Autobiography of Malcolm X is a national bestseller pinpointing Malcolm X s involvement in the Civil Rights Movement and the Nation of Islam. Malcolm X expresses the journey he took to become the momentous leader he is known as today, and tells the personal reasoning behind his movement. Alex Haley assisted Malcolm Xin his writing, and together they produced a masterpiece. This book appeals to those interested in social justice and reform, as well as religion and spiritual enlightenment. The autobiography was written in hopes of accurately illustrating Malcolm X s experiences. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of Haley s works serve to commemorate the treacherous struggle that blacks experienced throughout American history. Malcolm Little was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on May 19, 1925, into a family of eight children. His father, Earl Little, was a baptist minister whose outspoken push for civil rights made him a target to constant death threats. When Malcolm was only four years old, the family s home was burned down. Two years later, as the threats grew more severe, Earl Little s dead body was found in the street. The police ruled both cases as accidents, but Malcolm concluded that they were related to the Black Legion, a terrorist group of white supremacists. Earl s death took a huge toll the Little family. With no steady source of income, they relied on welfare. Malcolm s mother was taken over with devastation, so much so that she was eventually admitted into a mental institution, sending all eight Little kids to foster homes with conditions hardly better than before. At a much too early age, Malcolm understood his role as a negro living in the early eighteenth century. Malcolm was an intelligent kid who constantly focused on his education. When asked what he wanted to do in the future, he told his teacher he wanted to be a lawyer. His teacher responded with pitiful laughter, telling him that his goal was unreasonable, for black people simply weren t good enough to be lawyers. Malcolm recalled the sheer change in heart he experienced that day. He accepts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Critical Appreciation Of Izu No Odoriko With his publication of Izu no Odoriko in 1926, Yasunari Kawabata gained recognition for his work. In this story, Kawabata tells the story of a student who is traveling along the Izu peninsula. During his travels, he meets a group of traveling performers and decides to travel amongst them. During his time with the performers, he is able to experience a life different from his student life in Tokyo. An image that Kawabata repeatedly presents is a drum. The student tries to listen for the drum whenever he is alone. To the student, the sound of the beating drum signifies that his time with the traveling performers has yet come to an end. With its high popularity, Izu no Odoriko was translated twice by two different translators during different time periods. The first translationwas done by Edward Seidensticker in 1954. The second translation was done by J. Martin Holman in 1997. Though both Seidensticker and Holman translated the same story, there is still difference in their translations. With the imagery of the drum, Holman and Seidensticker relay a difference in the intensity of emotion; furthermore, with the analyzation from Tobias, it can be seen why each translator conveys a difference in emotion. Throughout Izu no Odoriko Kawabata repeatedly mentions the drum that the young dancer uses in her performances. To the student, the sound of the drum reminds him of the performers. On a subconscious level, the drum reminds the student that his time with traveling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Comparison of Marxists and Elitists Accounts of... The comparison of Marxists and Elitists accounts of political power. In this essay we will try to compare the Marxists and the Elitists views of political power and what makes these views different. Before we start analyzing it should be remarked that the Elitists approach is closely connected to the works and ideas of Gaetano Mosca, Roberts Michels and C. Wright Mills and the founder of such an approach to studying political power (W. Pareto), who opposed his ideas to those of Marx and Gramsci. Therefore, there is a conflict of ideas, which is to be unveiled in this essay. Firstly, Marxists approach to political power is to be briefly overviewed. The cornerstone of all Marx s work is the base superstructure model every aspect of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea reminds of the Nietzsche s Ubermensch, who is the one to power the others. The similarity of these ideas lies in the fact that in Elitist s theory they assume that all people are not created equal: some are stronger, more intelligent, more artistic, etc. Of course, not all abilities lead to economic wealth or political power however, those people who have the most of the particular abilities which a society rewards become the political elite. Here we can draw a line to cross out Marx s idea that people are born equal and the only thing that makes them different is being attributed to certain social class and therefore, there personal characteristics defer the social structure the economic structure. Another Elitist Gaetano Mosca proposed the idea that there is a ruling elite, so called Classe Politica (political elite) and Social forces those social and economic categories on whom the society depends on because of their particular abilities. In other words, not the whole layer of elite actually rules political power is the representative one social forces have a major influence in them. Moreover, political elite are also the representatives of the masses all elites stabilize their rule by making it acceptable to the masses. This is achieved by political formula , e.g.: ... A meme is much more complex in the sense that exist as many different entities ranging from new concepts to new slang words, to even a development of a new behavior that has become popular within a culture. Richard Dawkins, author of the book The Selfish Gene who is also credited for the creation of the word memeticsstates that memes act as units that house ideas, symbols, and behaviors that are distributed from person to person via word of mouth, tv, magazines. Disney movies always throw a couple jokes that make everyone laugh, And along with that, Disney movies also have a lesson that always gets you thinking. Therefore, I believe saying Disney makes everyone happy is quite fair to say. As I mentioned previously, Disney movies always have a lesson along with the entertainment. • 10. Parable From The Gospel Of Luke The Christian Scriptures is a very important area of study that allows an individual to further their knowledge about Jesus Christ and his teachings. After reading the parable from the Gospel of Luke helped, it helped further each of our understandings by seeing the connection that each of the Gospels have to each other. According to Powell, a large part of the parables included in the Gospel Luke have similarities to the Gospel Mark, even though this particular parable is only found in Luke (Powell, pg. 151). This helped each of us learn that all of the Gospels used each others information to portraying the teachings of Jesusin many different ways. Before this course, many of us had not connected the gospels to each other, but after learning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 136). While many people will probably overlook the main message of this parable, to our group, we found that it had taught us to be more aware of those less fortunate around us. Meaning, we act more graciously with what we have, because we easily take for granted what many people are not blessed with. One of the most important aspects we took away from this parable is that social status and material possessions are no guarantee of ones standing with God. The only thing that matters is a right response to the Word of God. While an individual can sit there and say, Of course I would extend a helping hand to someone who is suffering , they say this when they already have all of the materials they need. But, if you were to ask someone to help the poor who were also suffering, a large majority will say no. A large challenge of life is putting others needs in front of your own, however people who hold faith in God are always willing to try and help in any way that they can. God has led His people through the worst and harshest conditions and through the hatred of many people, but His faith was never waiving. This allows individuals the comfort of knowing that even through the hardest times, God will be there for you and take care of you, as long as you hold faith in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Colonialism And Imperialism The country s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until about AD 800. (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city of Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet for the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after Christopher Columbuslanded on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and CristГіbal de Olid explored the country and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to affect the native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the nationalistic and racist ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native peoples ways. An example of this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the Spanish settlers. This battle was fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further expansion of the Spanish ways and exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards and their colonization set the scene for a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were to come. Fast forward to 1821, when Central America gained their independence from Spain. When they were granted independence Spain was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in 1813. (history.com) Since Spain was taken over and controlled by another country and one that had turned on them after being an ally they were not too concerned with their colonies overseas due to the Napoleonic Wars. The colonies didn t benefit France and their battles in Europe so they were granted their independence without a fight. The brush off of these potentially new countries, did not set them up for a successful future. It left them without much guidance and caused power struggles throughout the area, all due to the cut off of the previous imperialistic ways. With no larger country to help them with their creation of a new country, Honduras went through a couple more name changes and political power discrepancies. Just after these Central American countries were granted independence, what is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

That study also showed a great number of players came back with great speed as well, just over 12 months (O Brien 2015). Another study was over 137 MLB pitchers. • 15. Impact Of The Six Persuasions On The 21st Century Global... 1. Introduction According to Robert Beno Cialdini there are six basic fundamental psychological principles which affects our behaviour and help others to have influence on us. They are also known as the six weapons of influence: reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, authority, liking, scarcity. This research is going to focus on the impact of the six persuasions on the 21st century global economy and business relationships. Examples from business will be used to support the views. Good reputation is company s most precious asset, in order to keep the good name there should be a specific organizational structure depending on its goals. Every organization has a leader and his job is to monitor the employees. Power and influence make up the fine texture of organizations, and indeed of all interactions. Influence is the process whereby A modifies the attitudes or behaviour of B. Power is that which enables him to do it. (Handy C. B., Understanding Organizations, 4th ed.1993, pages 118 119), which is Ciadini s fourth principle authority. In business very often scarcity is used by the authority to perceive people to do what they want by setting deadlines for example. It is known that when an individual has to finish its work by a particular date it is more productive and concentrated. On the other hand very often employers are using pep talk to motivate their employees in order to increase their commitment and consistency in achieving their goal. By using ... • 16. Foreshadowing In Of Mice And Men Analysis The novel Of Mice and Men uses foreshadowing successfully to build tension towards the final tragedy. Foreshadowing is shown consistently throughout the novel in various ways including; the introduction of Curley s wife, Lennie s constant unawareness of his own strength, and Candy s dog being killed. These situations and scenes build towards the final tragedy of the novel effectively. Throughout the novel, Lennie is shown to love and care for various animals and people, however in each instance Lennie is shown to be unaware of his own strength, and inadvertently hurts the things he loves. This builds towards the final tragedy in the novel, as Lennie unintentionally kills Curley s wife, leading to George and Lennie s worst fears to be fulfilled. This is also shown through George s constant precautions and his fear is stemming from what Lennie was accused of in Weed. This also foreshadows that the ending is going to be tragic as George is constantly thinking of the worst case scenario. The first example of Lennie s unawareness of his own strength happens at the beginning of the novel, as it is revealed that he had killed a mouse. George seeing this as a stepping stone to what will happen explodes saying you always kill em (Of Mice and Men Steinbeck. J, 2006 page 14) During the novel, Lennie gets a puppy at the beginning it seems that Lennie has grown and can care for the puppy, which George sees as a sign of hope. • 19. Jean Piajet s Theory Of Cognitive Development Cognition is the study of the thought processes or mental activity by which we acquire or deal with knowledge (Thomas Keenan, Sabhadra Evans 2009:157). The first theorist to look into cognitive development systemically, and the man in which I am going to discuss in this essay is a Swiss psychologist called Jean Piajet (Drew Weston 1959:455). Piajet viewed intelligence as the individual s way of adapting to new information about the world (Drew Weston 1959: 456). He believed that people used two processes to adapt to something new. These two processes are called assimilation and accommodation (Neil R Carlson, William Bukist and G Neil Martin 2000:408). Assimilation is the process of incorporating new objects or situations into existing schemas. Accommodation is the process of altering existing schemas or creating new ones to deal with objects or experiences that don t fit readily into existing schemas (Jeffrey S Nevid 2009:354). Piajet believed that at different age s people use a different logic to develop their thoughts. The stages of development introduced by Piajet are the Sensorimotor stage, the Preoperational stage, the Concrete operational stage and the Formal operational stage. The stage in which I am going to discuss in detail in this essay is the second stage of Piajet s theory or the Preoperational stage, as I believe it will be the most relevant stage to myself in my future profession (Drew Weston 1959:457). However, theory suggests that by doing the same type of multitasking tasks, it would be too strenuous to remember what you just did since both activities were almost the same. This research paper aims to evaluate how the same type of multitaskingaffects the memory of humans. Data from twenty seven people were collected in which they had to perform two types of multitasking activities and take a testto see how much they could remember. Overall, people are more easily distracted if they tend to multi task often. Many scientists dispel the idea that multitasking is in fact an efficient way of getting things done. For example, in a study conducted by Clapp, Rubens, Sabbharwal, and Gazzaley (2011) concluded that, multiple tasks increase task difficulty/complexity, resource capacity limitations, increased crosstalk conflict, and greater bottleneck processing limitations. This shows that there is a plethora of research done to prove the ineffectiveness of multitasking. Yet research done in 2013 by Shih reveals, behavioural and brain research suggests that multitasking is challenging and often stressful and unproductive. After his death, Congress authorized a suitable memorial in the national capital, but the decision was reversed when the Republicans took control of Congress in 1801. The Republicans were dismayed that Washington had become the symbol of the Federalist Party; furthermore, the values of Republicanism seemed hostile to the idea of building monuments to powerful men.[200] Further political squabbling, along with the North South division on the Civil War, blocked the completion of the Washington Monument until the late 19th century. Kallistos Ware Beliefs One of the most important characteristics of faith that Kallistos Ware highlights is the idea that much, if not all, of one s relationship with God, is based off of instinctive feelings as opposed to other feasible elements. As Ware states, Faith is not the supposition that something might be true, but the assurance that someone is there. Faithin God, as Ware explains in this quotation, is not merely believing in God due to elements of scripture or teaching, but is instead something that occurs after personal experiences that provide a basis for the presence of God in one s life. Additionally, these personal experiences not only need to occur, but also need to be interpreted and attributed to God. However, this can be difficult for many, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Exploring new places and learning about my heritage is the reason why I want to go to China, since I ve never traveled there. Being the first generation in my family born in the United States, it seems like everyone in my family went to China except me. I ve been exposed to the Chinese culture when I lived in Brooklyn, but lost it after my grandmother passed away. In Brooklyn, I lived in a predominantly Chinese neighborhood, but at age 5 I moved to New Jersey, to a town where there were no Chinese families. After years of reconnecting with Asian families in New Jersey, this sparked my interest in traveling to China. • 36. Literary Elements Of Sherlock Holmes Sir Arthur Conan Doyle utilizes many detail oriented literary elements to develop the many adventures of the famous fictional British detective Sherlock Holmes and his partner, John Watson. Long winded description and complex vocabulary are infused into Doyle s writing to accentuate Holmes s great intelligence. By incorporating such a heavy, educated tone upon the mysteries, the tales of Sherlock Holmesare expressed as very complicated stories that challenge readers in comprehension as well as encourage curiosity through puzzling cases. One of the most important literary features of Doyle s works is the use of dialogue and conversations held between characters, whether it be Holmes, Watson, a victim, and so forth. It seems that a key... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another factor to consider is how Holmes is written to be asking Watson even though he understands that Watson is not on the same page. This curious occurrence in the interactions between Holmes and Watson may also elevate the status Holmes imposes on the text and to the readers. Not only can the dialogue bring life to the story, but it can tell the story itself, as seen in many instances in which Holmes has wrapped up another mystery. Most cases are concluded with a recollection of events and revealing hints that only Holmes knew of, presented almost conversationally from Holmes to Watson. With his first person account of the mystery, Doyle uses Holmes to clarify any remaining confusion or questions that linger in readers minds as the chapter ends. While it is repetitive after several cases, granting Holmes with such large chunks of dialogue eliminates the need for boring, lengthy straight forward narration. A good example of the use of retelling in dialogue in place for narration can be found in The Red Headed League. A combination of complex writing and sophisticated vocabulary also follow the genius detectives mysteries and help to represent his intelligence through Doyle s skillful work. Each story is written with extensive vocabulary as well as depth, which also alludes/attributes to Holmes himself. Therefore, Doyle was careful to ensure that the professional nature of Holmes was also conveyed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Gods In The Iliad In Greek Mythology, gods and goddesses were assigned gifts related to specific aspects of nature. It explained to people the origin of the universe and how the world operates. The ancient Greeks were basing these scientific concepts solely based on their beliefs alone, which resulted in stories that included the gods swooping in and interfering with human affairs. Many of those recorded stories, including Homer s The Iliad, can be interpreted in two ways: either the actual gods have appeared before a protagonist or that there was a natural occurrence that had no scientific evidence to clarify what it was. Book 5 of The Iliad shows several occasions where this occurs, and each example presented in this essay will argue if it shows that the gods are physically present in the story, or the gods are used only as metaphors for a scientific phenomenon. According to the Exodus there were a group of slaves who fled Egypt and where led by a prophet named Moses, who also is the proclaimed author of the book. These people where on a mission to find the promise land where they can be free from oppression and create their own civilization. These claims are true are still debated to this day, but the text was written around the 1400 B.C. Mosesintentions for Exodus were to set laws for his new community to a group of people who had only knew lives as slaves. In chapter 21 of Exodus there are a set of laws for the new community that pander to push away their old lives to create a new identity in which men can be equal with one another. The second verse within chapter 21 states, if thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing ( Exodus , 21, 2). Immediately the author set a law that if there are slaves then they must be released within six years, which creates hope for potential slaves. Before Moses led the his followers out of Egypt there was no prospect of any of them being set free from their lives as slaves. This law helps create a new community that will release their male slaves. Competition in a technology market represents that two or more technology companies, firms compete there, in the same business area. When a company decides to enter a new market and to continue own business there, then one of the most important things is that, regard to the competition. The main characteristics for determining the competition are: What are the weak and strong sides of the competition? What are the best ways for gaining the dominance in the competition? What is necessary for competing with other firms? Competitiveness does not just depend on the cost of factors of production, or on a specific technological advantage. Rather, it depends on continuous innovation, high level skills and learning, an efficient communications and transport infrastructure, and a supportive enabling environment. Each of these aspects is discussed below in greater detail. Each firm competitor is different. So all of these firms have different plans separately. Many people consider 1989 as the symbolic turning point, when the epoch of history and society started to be replaced by the epoch of biotechnology, genetic engineering or most recently evolution technology. We can say, that we are at the beginning of a genetic epoch (genepoch) or as Manfred Eigen (Steps Towards Life, Oxford University Press, 1992) calls it the era of molecular biology . In this vision of history, having solved the disputed questions of society in the practice and theory of democracy, mankind begins a new historical period, the genetic period, where even the terminology of history will be a completely new kind. Avant garde philosophers develop a new approach for investigating the genetic structure of all traditional problems instead of further exploring the society, language, knowledge or physical world. The protagonists of this new paradigm think, that after such kind of leading principals of philosophical discussions as democracy , socialism , subject and causal sciences , there will be a new leading idea, which by the analogy of neuronalism and cognitivism, should be called genetism. His limited powerresults in torture, mistreatment, exploitation, and ultimately death.
