The Causes And Effects Of The Subprime Crisis
Subprime crisis has grabbed public s attention when a significant rise in home foreclosures in 2006
seemingly out of control in 2007 and eventually the collapse of lending industries and hedge funds has
occurred. Subprime crisis is defined as a situation whereby borrowers being approved for loans they
could not afford for repayment which affecting the mortgage industry. Fair value accounting has been
in the center of criticism in this financial earthquake. It is blamed as main cause of Subprime crisis
and led to a financial meltdown. Instead of blaming fair value accounting, in my opinion there are
some possible causes of the crisis can be identified and to be debated upon. First and foremost, most
of the blame can be pointed at the lenders who lent money to the poor credit and high default risk
borrowers. Due to the easy availability of the subprime credit, there was an ... Show more content on

At this point, subprime lending allows the borrowers to be able to make purchases for houses through
housing loan on easy terms and conditions, which in turn enhanced the home ownership in the bubble
year. This is in line with the conclusion of Whalen (2008). According to Whalen (2008), the odious
partnership of home building, banks, real estate companies, and GSEs which was formed to support
affordable housing was the main cause of the subprime credit crisis.
The housing bubble was also considered as one of the causes of the subprime crisis. A housing bubble
is caused by tremendous increases in the real property valuation until reaching unsustainable levels
relative to incomes and other affordability indexes. The perception of generations of consumers
believed that not only would the values of home not decline, but that the home values will continue to
rise in the future.

A Clean Well Lighted Place By Ernest Hemingway
How has your understanding of the concept of belonging been shaped by the representation of
relationships and events that you have encountered in the texts you have studied for the Area of Study:
Belonging?
Belonging requires an individual to build a connection with another person or group over time, these
connections are often developed through shared experience and understanding. Peter Skrzynecki s
poems; Feliks Skrzynecki (1975) and Migrant Hostel (1975) offer various perspectives and
representations on this concept. Ernest Hemingway s short story A clean well lighted place (1926) and
the picture Berlin Wall by unknown (1973) compliment these perspectives and representations further.
A lack of shared events and time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

relationships allowing sympathy and explaining his actions.
Migrant Hostel , gives the responder a perspective of the plight of migrants and the trouble they face
in building relationships due to the events in their past and the lack of understanding in the world
around them. The metaphor of the barrier at the main gate... Pointed in reprimand or shame

they consider themselves birds of passage with constant comings and goings. The constantly

time to form them, hindering belonging. Despite this shared memories of hunger and hate allowing

The Effect of Suffering on the Human Psyche
The Holocaust: A genocide in which six million Jews died, still remembered today as the single most
grotesque massacre in human history. For most, the concept of Hitler s rise to power, the building of
his strength, and the process by which his orders were carried out remains an unimaginable concept.
In the mind, laws of morality don t bend. In looking at the Holocaust, one has to wonder how so many
managed to break the rules of humanity so quickly. The easiest answer questions the existence of
ethical laws at all. Although others consider the vast majority who did not fall victim to Hitler s power
to simply be better people, a consensus of Germany pre war reveals that they were not miniature
bigots. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to some, a conscience is a stronger power than the human instincts that stayed put over
years of evolution (Anonymous, ... Powerful Motivator ). It is considered a knowledge of ourselves, or
awareness of moral principles... (Giubilini, Conscience ). Allegedly, all humans are born with a sense
of morality, or else how does the world turn round? But the truth is that the conscience is not
something that anyone is born with. Rather, conscience will always require points of reference which
can be acquired through education and moral training. (Berg, What is Moral Conscience? ). Inner
integrity must be taught, for children do not know how the world functions. If a conscience is not
taught, it may not exist at all. For Alfons Heck, Hitler Youth leader, his ethical side diminished under
the weight of his high position in the ranks. It was astonishing how fast these kids grew up under such
tremendous pressure, (Ayer et al. 113) says he. As the adolescents in the army bonded over wartime
struggles and mass death, it could be said that members of the Hitler Youth had their morals worn
away by those that reigned over them in an effort to further the Nazi cause. Furthermore, in the Nazi
party, many felt that the conscience didn t exist. Hitler himself said, Conscience is a Jewish invention,
it is a blemish... (Rauschning et al.

the inflammation and pouches formed, but the problem persisted. The patient received two more
abdominal surgeries following the first one, which helped significantly. Although the physical
therapist did not mention any precautions, the patient was very slow to sit up and move. The patient

The Use of Symbolism in Margaret Laurence s Stone Angel
The statue of the stone angel is symbolic of the Currie family pride, Hagar s inability to relate and
share her emotions, and the blindness and ignorance that comes from constantly refusing to see things
from another point of view other than your own.
The Stone angel is symbolic of the Currie family pride because it does not seem to serve it s purpose,
which is to honour Hagar s mother who had died giving birth to her. Hagar describes Mrs. Currie to be
a meek woman and a feeble ghost , whereas she describes herself to be stubborn and practical . The
statue was bought in Italy and brought to the Manawaka cemetery at a terrible expense . . . in pride to

When applies for a job to get away from Mananawka and her husband, she lies to her boss as to her
real relationship with Bram.
Hagar s pride prevents her from expressing her emotions or relating to other people, and as a result she
turns out to be just as hard and unyeilding as the stone angel itself. She never reveals her real feelings
at the risk of being thought of as soft and as a result she misses out on a lot of potentially great
relationships. At a very young age, her pride prevents her from comforting her dying brother: But all i
could think of was that meek woman I d never seen, the woman Dan was said to resemble so mcuh
and when from whom he d inherited a fraily I could not help byt detest, however mush a part of me

When Bram s horse died, she had a hard time trying to find something soothing to say or do because
she always had a stone wall built up between them.
Seeing Bram s hunched shoulders, and the look on his face, all at once I walked over to him without
pausing to ponder whether I should or not, or what to say. . . Then, akwardly, I m sorry about it Bram.
I know you were fond of him

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest Movie Andy
An actor s job is to embody a character to the best of their ability. In order to do this, they need to have
a strong connection with the character and essentially become them. Three actors that have displayed
amazingly unforgettable performances in different movies are Tim Robbins, Jack Nicholson, and Paul
Newman. In The Shawshank Redemption, Tim Robbins is Andy, a man falsely convicted of murder
and forced to spend 19 years in prison. In One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, Jack Nicholson portrays
a character named R.P. McMurphy, a man faking insanity so he can finish serving his prison sentence
in a mental ward. Finally, Paul Newman stars as Luke in Cool Hand Luke, a criminal serving his two
year sentence working in a chain gang. These three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When watching each of the three movies, it is easy to become enthralled because of these actor s
flawless performances. Tim Robbins perfectly captures the patience and perseverance of Andy at
Shawshank Prison. According to a review written by Janet Maslin for The New York Times, Tim
Robbins plays [his role] intensely, and he ages effectively from newcomer to father figure during the
story. His growth from newcomer to father figure is a result of his Andy s patience and perseverance,
and Tim Robbins is able to easily portray this character development. Like Tim Robbins, Jack
Nicholson does a superb job at embodying his character, McMurphy. McMurphy is personified and
made totally credible by Jack Nicholson (Ebert). Lastly, Paul Newman brings Luke to life, but also to
the end of his life. Newman brings this character to the end of its logical development, playing a hero
who becomes an anti hero because he despises the slobs who worship him (Ebert). Newman s
embodiment of Luke depicts his development as a character, all the way to the end. Tim Robbins, Jack
Nicholson, and Paul Newman all take on the character they are portraying as if they are playing
themselves, making their performances

Gender Roles In The Canterbury Tales By Geoffrey Chaucer
Geoffrey Chaucer was an English poet, born in 1342 into well to do merchant family. He got some of
his education in Greek and Latin. He was a courtier, soldier, diplomat, administrator, knight of the
Shire and a poet. He is the most musical, stylistically versatile poet but his language is different from
the language we use today. The most famous work of the Chaucer is The Canterbury Tales . It is a
descriptive poem rather a narrative. This poem is about the description of 30 people: rich and poor,

Women in the Enlightenment Essay
The Enlightenment is known as the revolution that brought to question the traditional political and
social structures. This included the question of the woman s traditional roles in society. As the public
sphere relied more and more ?? and the advances in scientific and educated thinking, women sought to
join in with the ranks of their male counterparts. Women held gatherings known as salons where they
organized intellectual conversations with their distinguished male guests. Seeking to further their
status, enlightened women published pamphlets and other works advocating for educational rights and
political recognition. Even with this evolution of woman in society, many still clung to the belief that
the role of the woman was solely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, faith in knowledge and reason and in the progress they were held certain to achieve
remained the dominant characteristic of the Enlightenment. With the change in political climate,
women began to grasp the idea of reason in the new society. There was a fight for education,
professionalism, and citizenship. The change that the Enlightenment brought to the world, gave
women the lifeline they needed to pull away from their domesticated roles as housekeepers, wives,
and mothers. Above all, perhaps, the rationalists of the eighteenth century aroused the social
conscience of mankind and stimulated the humanitarianism. The Enlightenment allowed a period of
educational growth to begin. A new love for knowledge and debate sprung up throughout the century.
Women joined in with the intellectual banter by starting salons. If Voltaire transformed the thoughts,
and Rousseau the feelings, of the eighteenth century, it was the salons of Paris that the new
conceptions of reason and nature, of free thought and the importance of the individual, were sifted,
codified, and eventually imposed. Women played a central role in the organization of these intellectual
gatherings, holding them in their homes. They invited prominent, academically inclined men to join
together to share ideas, in which the lady of the home regulated with agendas and topics. Women were
able to be present when men spoke of the political, social, and

Analysis Of With The Planets, Op 32, By Gustav Holst
With The Planets, Op. 32, composed 1914 1916, Gustav Holst incorporates a wide array of cultural
and scientific references to create musical characters for each of the planets in our solar system. The
scientific connection is immediately clear simply by looking at how Holst chose to order the
movements. While he does not specifically place the planets in order of distance from the sun, they
still follow a pattern that clearly references their positions in space. Mars, Venus, and Mercury open
the suite, being numbers 3, 2, and 1 from the sun (neglecting to count Earth, which does not appear).
Following this are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, being numbers 4, 5, 6, and 7 in order. While
an awareness of their scientific positions is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mars and Venus, movements 1 and 2, reflect similar dual scientific and mythological references. Mars
is the god of war, and his musical themes are clearly warlike: A menacing war drum rhythm is present
throughout, with low tones, dominant 5ths, and threatening melodies. Scientifically, Mars appears red
through a telescope a color commonly associated with war, rage, blood, and fighting (for example, the
phrase seeing red means anger, especially violent anger). Venus, in great contrast to Mars, is a soft,
sweet, and loving movement, reflecting the goddess Venus s dominion of romantic love. Through a
telescope, Venus appears white with occasional tones of soft yellow colors that are associated with
softness, light, and comfort (think of our association between the color white and the concept of
purity).
The remaining four movements follow the same pattern. Jupiter, or Zeus in the Greek tradition, is the
god of lightning (depicted holding a lighting bolt) as well as the mostly benevolent ruler of the gods.
His reign in Olympia is associated largely with peace and prosperity, which is reflected in his jolly
musical movement he is the Bringer of Jollity, per Holst. However, in contrast to Mercury, this is a
more stately jollity, reflecting both his enhanced position in the pantheon as well as the planet s
physically large size. A musical sense of storm beneath the surface, of potential power and strong

Socrates Was A Greek Philosopher And The Main Source Of...
Socrates was a Greek philosopher and the main source of Western thought. He was born circa 470 BC,
in Athens, Greece and also through the writings of his students, Plato and Xenophon we of his life.
Socrates was the son of Sophroniscus, an Athenian sculptor and stone maker, and Phaenarete, a
midwife. Because he was not from a superior family, he got a basic Greek education and learned his
father s craft at a young age. Before Socrates devoted his life to philosophy, it is believed he worked
as a mason for many years. Socrates married Xanthippe, a younger woman and they had three sons
Lamprocles, Sophroniscus and Menexenus. Furthermore, the Athenian law required all able bodied
males serve as citizen soldiers for duty from ages 18 until they were 60. According to Plato, Socrates
served in the armoured infantry known as the hoplite with shield, face mask and long spear. He
participated in three military campaigns during the Peloponnesian War, at Delium, and Potidaea,
Amphipolis where he saved the life of Alcibiades, a popular Athenian general. A trait that stayed with
him throughout his life was his courage in battle and fearlessness. After his trial, he compared his
refusal to retreat from his legal troubles to a soldier s refusal to retreat from battle when threatened
with death. Plato s Symposium provides the best details of Socrates s physical appearance, saying that
he was not the ideal of Athenian masculinity. Short and stocky, with a snub nose and bulging eyes,

IT Management Capability Essay
2.2 Effect of IT management s capability on non financial firm performance
IT management capabilities are defined as the ability of an organization s IT and management staff to
administer IT resources and transform them for the creation of business value (Peppard J. , 2007). IT
function is typically portrayed as an island, separated from the rest of the organization. IT is usually
seen as a resource that can be managed from within a box on the organizations map. Yet research
clearly indicates otherwise; Peppard (2007) is quoted as saying, IT cannot be managed as an island but
must be fully integrated with the mainland . In his paper examining the Conundrum of IT

Bhatt Grover, 2005; using the well known edicts of RBV empirically assess distinct IT capabilities
and their relationship with competitive advantage of a firm. Their study attempts to distinguish
between a number of IT capabilities. They uncover that managerial skills is among the valuable (i.e.,
have an effect on performance), heterogeneously distributed across companies (i.e., are not the same
across companies), and imperfectly mobile (i.e., are difficult to acquire in resource markets or develop
internally) resources in firms. A similar position is affirmed by (Dehning Stratopoulos, 2003) that uses
secondary data from Computerworld to assess IT capabilities and competitive advantage. The study
assesses managerial skills and technical skills and discovers that managerial skills are positively
related to the duration of competitive advantage.
Evidence deduced from prior literature show that I.T management is manifested by the collection of
IT processes in the areas of planning, investment decision making, coordination, and control. (Peppard
J. , 2007) Intimates that IT management capability is generally reflected by the level at which such
processes are structured in formal and informal practices.

An induction programme is the process used within many businesses to welcome new employees to
the company and prepare them for their new role. Human Resource Managers should provide the new
employee with necessary and important information about the business. The induction process is the
first step in building a relationship between you and the new colleague/s.

Recruitment is tremendously important in any organisation, but recruiting new staff is very costly and
can take time. Recruiting in most businesses can go wrong dramatically; this is because the process of

Consequences Of Rote Learning And Cramming
Consequences of rote learning and cramming, seen through the lens of a South Korean
Education systems in Asia are often characterized to be more overwhelming for students, compared to
Western countries. In South Korea, students are pressured to ascend through high competition to enter
a top tier university to get a good job. To be superior than others in test scores, which are fundamental
in getting into a good university, Korean students often use cramming style and rote learning study

Many Korean university s acceptance are entirely based on this test. Also, unlike SATs or other
standardized tests which can be taken several times, this test can only be taken once a year, which
means that a student is delayed a full year if he does not do well on his first test (Park). This pressures
the Korean students are thus pressured by the importance of this test and they become heavily
immersed in studying since an early age, which leads to stress and discontent. According to a survey
released by the Institute for Social Development Studies in Yonsei University, Korean teenagers
turned out to be the unhappiest among the countries listed in the Organization for Economic Co
operation and Development, mainly due to exam results and extreme tiredness from studying ( We

Adaptation of Donkey
Introduction
Scientists such as Charles Darwin, Jean Baptiste Lamarck and Alfred Russel Wallace among others
who studied evolution have suggested that all organisms evolved from simpler forms to the more
complex forms that exist today. They base their evidence on environmental and climatic changes.
Charles Darwin claims that as the environment and climate change, so do the organisms in the
affected region (Jackson Groves, 2015). The main idea of evolution is so that the animals may be able
to cope with the current conditions. If the organisms structure and morphological structure do not
modify themselves with the changing conditions, then these animals are bound to perish. To
understand the idea behind evolution, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, with time, they were soon located in the Arabia regions. This is said to be due to the close
proximity to Northern Africa. The wild asses, however, remained in Northern Egypt whereas the
domesticated spread all over the world.
Habitat
Domestic donkeys are used to moderate tropical and terrestrial weather. As such, they can be found in
most regions of the world. They prefer the warm and dry areas, with low and sparse vegetation.
Role of the Donkey in the Ecology The donkey plays a huge role in the environment that cannot go
unnoticed. First, for the balance of nature to be complete, a given habitat must have bacteria,
herbivores, carnivores, omnivores, and scavengers. In this hierarchy, donkey occupies the herbivore
slot as their food is mainly grass. Donkeys eat grass and produce dung, which is used by bacteria for
decomposition. Also, they play a huge role as the beast of burden, where they help man to transport
his goods from one place to another. Also, in some instances, donkeys could be used to transport man
himself. My home area experiences quite warm weather conditions which allow grass to grow
properly. This makes the donkeys thrive properly without any struggle. Since they are domesticated,
their owners ensure that they supplement the grass with other feeds such as fodder crops. With this,
their survival is secure. However, there are people who expose them to more work than they can bear.

Magnetic Tape Essay
VAT reaches the last usable sectors on the disk. 7.6 MAGNETIC TAPE Magnetic tape is the oldest
and most cost effective of all mass storage devices. First generation magnetic tapes were made of the
same material used by analog tape recorders. A cellulose acetate film one half inch wide (1.25 cm)
was coated on one side with a magnetic oxide. Twelve hundred feet of this material was wound onto a
reel, which then could be hand threaded on a tape drive. These tape drives were approximately the size
of a small refrigerator. Early tapes had capacities under 11MB, and required nearly a half hour to read
or write the entire reel. Data was written across the tape one byte at a time, creating one track for each
bit. An additional track was added ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A stream of data is written along the length of the tape until the end is reached, then the tape reverses
and the next track is written beneath the first one (see Figure 7.18). This process continues until the
track capacity of the tape has been reached. Digital linear tape (DLT) and Quarter Inch Cartridge
(QIC) systems use serpentine recording with 50 or more tracks per tape. Digital audio tape (DAT) and
8mm tape systems use helical scan recording. In other recording systems, the tape passes straight
across a fixed magnetic head in a manner similar to a tape recorder. DAT systems pass tape over a
tilted rotating drum (capstan), which has two read heads and two write heads, as shown in Figure 7.19.
(During write operations, the read heads verify the integrity of the data just after it has been written.)
The capstan spins at 2,000 RPM in the direction opposite of the motion of the tape. (This
configuration is similar to the mechanism used by VCRs.) The two read/write head assemblies write
data at 40 degree angles to one another. Data written by the two heads overlaps, thus increasing the
recording density. Helical scan systems tend to be slower, and the tapes are subject to more wear than
serpentine systems with their simpler tape paths. FIGURE 7.18 Three Recording Passes on a

Cones Lab Report
A cone is a cell located in the retina of a human eye. Cones allow color vision, unlike rods. Something
that can go wrong with a cone is something such as cone rod dystrophy or color blindness. Cones are
photoreceptors in the retina. There are three types of cones. The short wave length light cone, the
medium wave length light cone, and the large wave length cone. They are also known as the S, M, and
L cones accordingly.
The S cone sees 430 nanometre light. The M cone sees 530 nanometre light, and the L cone sees 560
nanometre light. To go along with the S, M, and L cones, there are building instructions, or genes for
each of them respectively.
The OPN1SW gene provides instructions for making an opsin pigment that is more sensitive to light
in the blue/violet part of the visible spectrum (short wavelength light). Cones with this pigment are
called short wavelength sensitive or S cones. In response to light, the photopigment triggers a series of
chemical reactions within an S cone . . . The OPN1MW gene provides instructions for making an
opsin pigment that is more sensitive to light in the middle of the visible spectrum (yellow/green light).

chromosome. (Genetics). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Brief Look at Climate Change
The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and
to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling in
the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the
internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climate and our capacity for designing efficient climate
adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition
equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2
concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing
the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the
system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear
feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension,
and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010).
Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of
climate change s impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013).
The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on
the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and
economic systems. Recent work, such as that of Cai

The Characteristics Of Community Psychology
Richard Henry
PSY 324E

A Collective Mind
Before we can discuss what community psychology is, we must understand what a community is. We
often view a community as a collective or randomized people, some happen to work close by, some
happen to like the housing market and decided to raise a family, and some may have been in the same
town for their whole lives, feeling no interest to look beyond. What is represented here, is the
differences within the individuals. No two people have the same exact story, the same upbringing, the
same experience. Often times, your neighbor may be nothing like you, yet you may have similarities.
The similarities may come from the way you both think politically, to the teams you root for. (you
notice he too, has a 12th man sticker plastered on his back windshield)
Community psychology is the collection of individuals, their moralities, their viewpoints on the world
and the basis in which you collectively live. For the example of different communities, I ll take
Portland, Oregon, my new place of residence, versus where I am originally from, Ocean City, New
Jersey. Portland is recognized as one of the more inclusive places in the world, a collection of people
who look out for each other , wanting everyone to feel both welcome and equal. We often look at a
place as being a general population of similar people, where we assume everyone in Portland just
moves here and becomes influenced. But I tend to believe that people live

Essay on The Character Piggy in Lord of the Flies
Piggy saw the smile and misinterpreted it as friendliness. There had grown up tacitly among the
biguns the opinion that Piggy was an outsider, not only by accent, which did not matter, but by fat, and
ass mar, and specs, and a certain disinclination for manual labour. (Golding 68)
The character Piggy in William Golding s novel Lord of the Flies serves as the intellectual balance to
the emotional leaders of a group of shipwrecked British boys. Ironically, their new society values
physical qualities over intellectual attributes whereas it is the rational actions that will lead to their
survival. Piggy s actions and the reactions from his fellow survivors foreshadow his eventual death.

again when the boys not let him speak without interruption even when he had the conch shell. Piggy s
greatest asset was also his weakest point; the only way he could relate to the other boys was at an
intellectual level, whereas the other boys could only relate on an emotional level. Ironically, in spite of
his intelligence and logic, rational thought, from the beginning of the novel, Piggy was a social
outcast.
Because Piggy is much more intelligent than the other boys, he adds a sizeable amount of irony to
Lord of the Flies. The other castaways on the island treat Piggy with disrespect and contempt, despite
how clever the overweight child actually is. The whole time the boys are stranded on the deserted
island, instead of concern, they show a definite lack of interest and care for Piggy. The central reason
for this cruel deficiency of empathy is Piggy s appearance. Regardless of how intelligent he was,
Piggy was ignored because he was fat and he had glasses; the other children could not see past this
unattractive façade to the logical and analytical genius underneath. Several times during the novel,
Piggy tried to speak his mind, undoubtedly providing logical insight to many issues, such as lighting

Thesis Of Bartleby The Scrivener
Bartleby, the Scrivener is a remarkable short story written by author Herman Melville. The narrator of
the story is a lawyer who owns his own law practice located on Wall Street and has various scriveners
who work for him. The first scrivener he describes is named Turkey. He is an excellent worker in the
morning, but as the day goes on his work begins to become messy and sloppy. He also has an ill
temper in the afternoon. The lawyer tries to have Turkey work only in the morning, but of course
Turkey argues with him so the lawyer just decides to give him less import work in the afternoon. The
second worker that the narrator describes is Nippers, is the complete opposite from Turkey. He is a
young and has an ambitious attitude. Although he has trouble working in the morning, he is always on
task and works best in the afternoon and evening hours. The next employee is not a scrivener but he
works as an errand boy. He is nicknamed Ginger Nut due to the fact that Nippers and Turkey always
send him to get ginger Nut cakes for them.
Lastly, the last employee The Lawyer describes is Bartleby. According to the Lawyer, Bartle is, one of
those beings of whom nothing is ascertainable, except from the original sources, and in his case those
are very small (Melville 1). To him, Bartleby is the most interesting scriveners of all time. Bartleby

The Assassination Of John Brown
There are many definitions of terrorism and no one can be completely certain what it really means.
Despite his actions at Pottawatomie Creek and Harper s Ferry, John Brown certainly had legitimate
reasons to carry out his attacks. Throughout his childhood, John had learned to be against slavery. His
father was a deeply religious man who believed owning people was against God s word. Even as a
child and teenager John was mature, enough to be an adult. So when he saw slaves beaten by their
owners, he knew it was wrong. As a teenager, John proceeded to become closer to the lord. Soon John
was an adult and still believed that slavery was wrong. The murder of Elijah P. Lovejoy set John over
the edge and he vowed that he would end slavery. In the years that followed, John Brown s vow

Having no remorse over the dead, John kept tromping onward. He took over Harper s Ferry as planned

Eventually, the military came and wiped out all of John s men including two of his sons. John was
captured and had to be brought on a stretcher to his hearing. They announced him guilty of all his
crimes and he was later sentenced to be hanged. John s actions caused a ripple throughout the north.
Northerners looked up to him as a hero. He inspired the north to make their moves to stop slavery. He

Comparison Of Blackboard Jungle And Rebel Without A Cause
Seeing a drastic shift of teenage culture within a decade is mesmerizing. After watching these two
movies I believe that there is a clear difference in how the teenage culture has shifted within a small
amount of time. The similarities between Blackboard Jungle and Rebel Without a Cause were that in
both movies the teenagers fit the stereotype of acting out of line. The difference is the, type of sound
track, different take on the youth movement. In Blackboard Jungle the sound track portrays a type of

movie Rebel Without a Cause there is an unknown type of mentality. The song that was playing in the
beginning of the movie Blackboard Jungle was called Rock around the Clock by Bill Haley. Because
of the up tempo beat and the lyrics it reminded me of a rebellion type of music. The song talks about
rocking around the clock so I can imagine the teenagers in the movie breaking the teachers records
while causing mad hysteria in the classroom. In the movie Rebel Without a Cause the song was more
an unknown type of mentality. When I heard the song at the beginning of the movie I didn t know
where the song was going to go for instance if the beat was going to increase or slow down. This
correlated in the movie because the main character Jim is used to leaving every time he makes a
mistake. On the other hand, this time he decides to stay and do the right thing. I think this shows that
there is still hope for the youth culture because they are able to realize their own mistakes without
parents. However, there was a belief that teenagers were a separate class they assumed that they were
separate and unequal. It s neat to see that rock n roll played a roll into the growing division. Rock n

Effects Of Fast Food
Many fast food restaurants are available whenever you want and at any time during the day. From In n
out to Chick fil A, fast food places are convenient and quick but not many people know about the
effects these places bring into our lives. The most important effect is what it can do to your health.
From the convenience, new deals and prices, these places are rising in popularity. Popular places such
as mcdonalds and taco bell have traveled far beyond what we could imagine just for a small meal. The
effects of these fast food restaurants and their popularity have caused many problems in the lives of
people.
The biggest and major effect of fast food places is the affect on your health. The popularity of fast
food places takes a toll on the health of their costumers. Many families have a mother and father that

published in 1807. In this poem Wordsworth describes his wife, Mary Hutchinson and his reaction to

depict three points in their developing relationship: when they first met; as they began to know each

By observing a woman s eternal beauty, Wordsworth successfully conveys his discovery of what
makes his wife truly beautiful. Beginning with a distant view that offers an illusion, he closes up to a
more realistic and spiritual appreciation of his wife. The poem is well organized because it has a clear
structure which gives us correct understanding. In my opinion the poet wants to depict each and every
detail of the lady from the day he met her till now when they are happily married. The beauty which
the poet describes about her is eloquent but at the same time it is very calm and soft, something
delicate. The sound of the poem is mesmerizing and melodic. The poem s overall tone is of admiration

Differences and Similarities between the Civil and Common...
Nowadays every legal system wants to achieve justice. Different legal traditions in the world have
given a different meaning of this concept by following one of the two legal systems: a civil law
system and a common law system. The civil law system emerged from Roman law and throughout
many centuries has been developed in continental Europe and often is called a continental legal
system , achieving its prominence through development of aqui communitare in Europe. The common
law system emerged in England during the Anglo Saxon period and was developed by British
colonies, reaching its peak in the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
There are many differences as well as similarities between the civil and the common law judicial ...

In an adversary system the judge and jury as decision makers have a passive role in investigating and
gathering evidence and are responsible solely in deciding the case. In contrast, in an inquisitorial
system the judge holds a very active role in the process, by choosing which evidence to accept and
applying the law to the evidence in deciding the case. Supporters of the adversary system consider this
feature as an advantage because they believe that the justice is best achieved where the decision maker
is neutral, passive and impartial in deciding the case.
Distinction of roles between judges and juries is a further fundamental difference between the
adversarial and inquisitorial systems. In an adversarial system, there is a division of work between a
judge and jury. The role of the judge is to adjudicate the issue of law and to ensure that the trial
proceeds comply with the procedural and substantial laws, while the role of the jury is to adjudicate
the issue of facts as served by the opposing parties based on the law given by judges. Generally, a
judge will not interfere in jury s decision making, but this approach varies subject to matters being
decided in the criminal or civil cases. In civil cases, a judge has a power to set aside a decision taken
by jury if such decision was not made in accordance with the applicable law. However, in criminal
cases a judge does not

Boston Massacre Dbq
On March 5, 1770...The Boston Massacre, known as the Incident on King Street by the British, was an
incident on March 5, 1770, in which British Army soldiers shot and killed people while under attack
by a lot of colonists. There was not a massacre on March 5, 1770 in Boston because. According to the
sources B,C and D say that the colonists had weapons and they were also attacking in the massacre.
The evidence that supports my claims is that in documents B,C,D the colonists are clearly seen with
weapons according to the documents with the gazette, it said that the colonists had weapons and were
involved in the fight. This supports my own opinion because in document b the colonists are seen with
some type of sword or golf club. My second reason

Life and Achievements of John Hancock Essay
John Hancock was born on January 12, 1737 in Braintree, Massachusetts. He was orphaned as a child
and then was adopted by a wealthy merchant uncle who was childless. Hancock went to Harvard
College for a business education. He graduated Harvard College at the age of 17. He apprenticed to
his uncle as a clerk and proved to be honest and capable that in 1760, he was sent on a business
mission to England. In England, he witnessed the coronation of King George III and engaged some of
the leading businessmen of London. In 1763, his uncle died and Hancock inherited what was said to
be the greatest body of wealth in New England. This placed him in a society of men who consisted
mainly of loyalists, suspected by the working population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He delivered a public address to a large crowd in Boston, commemorating the Boston Massacre. In
Hancock s speech he had been so explicit and so patriotic that even the most doubtful became
convinced of what his close associates already knew, that Hancock was for real. The speech also
convinced the British that he was a rebel. Hancock became a marked man. For this reason, on the day
of the battles of Lexington and Concord the British were seeking to arrest Hancock and Samuel
Adams. Following those battles, Massachusetts governor Gage issued a proclamation granting a
general pardon to all who would demonstrate a proper penitence to the crown, except Hancock and
Samuel Adams. In 1774, he was elected to the Provincial Congress of Massachusetts and
simultaneously to the Continental Congress. He married Dorothy Quincy on August 23, 1775 and they
had two children. His daughter is named Lydia Hancock, and his son is named John George
Washington Hancock.
When Peyton Randolph resigned in 1776, John Hancock assumed the position of President. Hancock
retired in 1777 due to problems with gout, but continued public service in his native state by
participating in the formation of its constitution. In 1780, he was elected the first governor of
Massachusetts under the new state constitution. He was re elected governor each year through 1785

Images of the Future in Neurology
The study of neurology attempts to explain the most fascinating aspects unique to humanity and
theorizes an explanation for the causes of mental dysfunctions. Vilanyur S. Ramachandran, nicknamed
The Marco Polo of Neurology (UCSD), has discovered many interesting facts about the human brain,
and his studies with those who have mental disorders have transformed neuroscience. One of his
greatest research topics, mirror neurons, poses as an explanation of phenomena ranging from the
development of language and the transmission of culture to empathy, autism, and even the uniqueness
of the human species (Melnick). Through his studies of mirror neurons and their possible impact
specifically relating to autism spectrum disorder, more great discoveries and treatments may occur in
the future.
Born in 1951, Ramachandran developed an early interest in science. In the introduction of his novel
The Tell Tale Brain, he stated, Although my current interest is neurology, my love affair with science
dates back to my boyhood in Chennai, India. (Ramachandran 5). He developed a passion for multiple
sciences including chemistry, biology, botany, zoology; he also loved history and anthropology. His
mother also encouraged his interest in science; they were a well traveled family, so she brought him
zoological specimens from all around the world, and his father brought him a Carl Zeiss research
microscope when he was in his early teens. He acquired multiple degrees, being initially trained

Dan Dolson s Argument
Part AAn argument is deductively valid if and only if its premises are true and always lead to a true
conclusion. (Dolson, HO #3, p.1) Premise A, If Abraham Lincoln was a friend of John Wilkes Booth,
then John Wilkes Booth would not kill Abraham Lincoln. is true. Premise B, Abraham Lincoln was
not friends with John Wilkes booth. is also true. But, the conclusion supposes that because John
Wilkes Booth and Lincoln were not friends, Booth would kill Abraham Lincoln. There are multiple
ways to show an argument is invalid. One test is Dan Dolson s Test for Validity (D.D.T.V.). To use
D.D.T.V. we must pretend the premises are true and find a way in which the conclusion can be false
(Dolson, #3, p.1). We have already stated the premises are true so there is no need to pretend, but the
test still works. We can easily imagine a situation in which Booth and Lincoln are not friends where
Booth does not kill Lincoln. Therefore, using the D.D.T.V. we can conclude that the argument is
invalid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Lincoln and Booth argument is invalid because it uses an invalid form of argument called denying
the antecedent. Denying the antecedent is a misuse of the deductive argument form modus ponens. By
denying the antecedent, the argument produces a conclusion that is not always true, which directly
contradicts the definition of a valid deductive argument. An example of an argument using the modus
ponens form would

Leadership In The Last American Man
Following Footsteps: Leadership in The Last American Man
Parents set the perfect example of leadership while raising their own children, making their kids the
priorities of their lives by being able to protect and love them through any given situation. In addition,
many parents strive to make their children like themselves because nothing would be better than a
parent seeing another human being walking in their own footsteps. However, some parents push their
children to become exactly like them, making their own dreams come true through their child. This
makes it hard for the child to grow up and become an independent person because they are too busy
living the lives that their parents are making them live. In The Last American Man, Eustace ... Show

Eustace does not realize that what causes people to leave Turtle Island isn t the physical labor but the
psychological stress of losing their identity (216). Eustace is independent when he ignores the
expectations of his father because it is not very individualistic to become an exact copy of anyone
else. However later in Eustace s life, he expects other people to become just like him by making them
do what he wants all of the time, taking away their own individuality. This is both oppressing and
humiliating to Eustace s followers because they will have to become a different people order to make
Eustace aware of their own existence. This form of leadership is a definite result of his instinct to copy
the actions of his father. Eustace continues to act like his father because he wants to copy the control
his father had over him. During Eustace s horse trips across the nation with his brother and his
girlfriend, Eustace couldn t put his their needs first When the stake of each of these journeys was so
massive nothing less than the prize of getting his father s attention at last (183). This form of
leadership not so much as self centered as it is honoring his own father. However, Eustace needs to
know that although he thinks he needs to match his father s level of leadership, it doesn t mean that he
should treat other people the same way that his father treated him. This is why Eustace has problems
with relationships throughout his entire lifetime; he is too concentrated on copying his father s
behavior than on building new relationships with different

This Way for the Gas, Ladies Gentlemen
The sole factor that separated Tadeusz Borowski from the gas chambers when he was at Auschwitz
beyond the fact that he wasn t Jewish was his cooperation with the S.S. soldiers. He assisted the Nazis
in eliminating thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. This Way for the Gas, Ladies and
Gentlemen ultimately uses the narrator to convey Borowski s message of what really happened during
the Holocaust. This also explains why the story is in first person: it reflects the author s own
experiences. Borowski s writing is quite crude: harsh yet realistic. Readers cannot judge Borowski
negatively; he was as much of a victim as the people coming off the transports.

soldiers while ultimately they are equals to those being sent to the gas chambers.
Borowski mentioned a key reason as to why he did not commit suicide. His own question What will
the world know of us if the Germans win? allowed him to fight through the struggle in the hopes of
getting out alive one day and sharing the truth with the world; it would be the only way the truth
emerged (Charters 150). What may seem immoral to people outside the camps is ordinary to those
inside as proven by Henri s actions in the story. Ultimately, though, the two worlds are incomparable.
Due to his need to collaborate with the S.S. soldiers in order to keep himself alive, many may consider
that Borowski indeed played a huge part in the deaths of thousands of people when he could have
taken a more noble route self immolation as the girl did in the story. This is hindsight bias, however,
and does not take into account the terror that filled the prisoners. In a hope to see life beyond
imprisonment, anyone would take part in this process. The survival of the fittest theory created by
Charles Darwin analyzes organisms behavior towards one another and their environment to see who
will thrive. In concentration camps such as Auschwitz, the only method of survival was assisting the
S.S. soldiers if one was not already sentenced to death by default. To be able to collaborate day in and
day out and stomach the

World War II And Japan
World War II and Japan The Greater Japanese Empire was one of the fastest growing and most
dominant world powers of the late 1800 s and early 1900 s. After being created as a result of the Meiji
Restoration of 1868, the Empire of Japan grew quite well and prospered until it was dissolved in 1947.
Although Japan experienced a long period of economic strife, massive destruction and a switch from a
military to a consumer based economy, after World War II, the country emerged stronger than ever and
became a serious player on the world economic stage. While scholars have debated World War II s
impact on Japan s economy, ultimately WWII allowed Japan to emerge with adaptive and innovative
manufacturing capabilities. Japan occupied Vietnam and joined the Axis Powers in 1940, which led to
an oil boycott from the United States and Great Britain (Ike 5). In 1941 Japan captured the Dutch East
Indies, and after the December attack on Pearl Harbor, they were officially at war with the Allied
Powers in the Second World War. The attack on Pearl Harbor resulted in over 2,400 American deaths
and four sunken ships. On the same day, Japan initiated the Southern Expansion, which was a massive
invasion of Guam, Hong Kong, and the Philippines, in addition to a few other East Asian territories
(Kato 57). During the next few months Japan was able to deliver a series of blows to Allied forces in
the region by taking over American bases and sinking British ships. Japan s momentum began to

Comparing The Dream Of The Rood And Piers Plowman
Throughout Christian poems and stories, the story of Christ and His crucifixion occasionally shows
up, either as the focus of the story or a prominent part of it. Naturally, the portrayal of this scene
always stays with the same basic outline, with Christ dying while on the cross after his trial. Although
the basics stay the same, stories occasionally show different portrayals of the death of Jesus. This
aforementioned crucifixion scene appears in both The Dream of the Rood and Piers Plowman.
However, although these stories portray the same scene, they do so in varying ways. While The Dream
of the Rood and Piers Plowman both had the same response from creation to Jesus s death and similar
actions from the people who wished for Jesus to die, they differed with portraying Jesus s torture
while he hung from the cross. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Dream of the Rood, the narrator says that shadows went forth (The Dream of the Rood ln. 54),
with dark under clouds (Rood 55). Similarly, in Piers Plowman, the story also shows a scene after
Jesus s death where Daylight shrank (Piers Plowman pg. 212) and the sun was darkened (Piers 212).
However, these two stories share even more similarities with their portrayal of creation s reaction.
Piers Plowman tells of a terrifying noise (Piers 212), while The Dream of the Rood says that all
creation wept (Rood 55). Even though their exact words may differ, both The Dream of the Rood and
Piers Plowman paint a very similar picture for their

The Causes And Effects Of The Subprime Crisis Subprime crisis has grabbed public s attention when a significant rise in home foreclosures in 2006 seemingly out of control in 2007 and eventually the collapse of lending industries and hedge funds has occurred. Subprime crisis is defined as a situation whereby borrowers being approved for loans they could not afford for repayment which affecting the mortgage industry. Fair value accounting has been in the center of criticism in this financial earthquake. It is blamed as main cause of Subprime crisis and led to a financial meltdown. Instead of blaming fair value accounting, in my opinion there are some possible causes of the crisis can be identified and to be debated upon. First and foremost, most of the blame can be pointed at the lenders who lent money to the poor credit and high default risk borrowers. Due to the easy availability of the subprime credit, there was an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At this point, subprime lending allows the borrowers to be able to make purchases for houses through housing loan on easy terms and conditions, which in turn enhanced the home ownership in the bubble year. This is in line with the conclusion of Whalen (2008). According to Whalen (2008), the odious partnership of home building, banks, real estate companies, and GSEs which was formed to support affordable housing was the main cause of the subprime credit crisis. The housing bubble was also considered as one of the causes of the subprime crisis. A housing bubble is caused by tremendous increases in the real property valuation until reaching unsustainable levels relative to incomes and other affordability indexes. The perception of generations of consumers believed that not only would the values of home not decline, but that the home values will continue to rise in the future. ... • 4. A Clean Well Lighted Place By Ernest Hemingway How has your understanding of the concept of belonging been shaped by the representation of relationships and events that you have encountered in the texts you have studied for the Area of Study: Belonging? Belonging requires an individual to build a connection with another person or group over time, these connections are often developed through shared experience and understanding. Peter Skrzynecki s poems; Feliks Skrzynecki (1975) and Migrant Hostel (1975) offer various perspectives and representations on this concept. Ernest Hemingway s short story A clean well lighted place (1926) and the picture Berlin Wall by unknown (1973) compliment these perspectives and representations further. • 5. Fight Or Flight Response The Effect of Suffering on the Human Psyche The Holocaust: A genocide in which six million Jews died, still remembered today as the single most grotesque massacre in human history. For most, the concept of Hitler s rise to power, the building of his strength, and the process by which his orders were carried out remains an unimaginable concept. In the mind, laws of morality don t bend. In looking at the Holocaust, one has to wonder how so many managed to break the rules of humanity so quickly. The easiest answer questions the existence of ethical laws at all. Although others consider the vast majority who did not fall victim to Hitler s power to simply be better people, a consensus of Germany pre war reveals that they were not miniature bigots. ... It is considered a knowledge of ourselves, or awareness of moral principles... (Giubilini, Conscience ). Allegedly, all humans are born with a sense of morality, or else how does the world turn round? But the truth is that the conscience is not something that anyone is born with. Rather, conscience will always require points of reference which can be acquired through education and moral training. (Berg, What is Moral Conscience? ). Inner integrity must be taught, for children do not know how the world functions. If a conscience is not taught, it may not exist at all. For Alfons Heck, Hitler Youth leader, his ethical side diminished under the weight of his high position in the ranks. It was astonishing how fast these kids grew up under such tremendous pressure, (Ayer et al. 113) says he. As the adolescents in the army bonded over wartime struggles and mass death, it could be said that members of the Hitler Youth had their morals worn away by those that reigned over them in an effort to further the Nazi cause. Lastly, Paul Newman brings Luke to life, but also to the end of his life. Newman brings this character to the end of its logical development, playing a hero who becomes an anti hero because he despises the slobs who worship him (Ebert). Nevertheless, faith in knowledge and reason and in the progress they were held certain to achieve remained the dominant characteristic of the Enlightenment. With the change in political climate, women began to grasp the idea of reason in the new society. There was a fight for education, professionalism, and citizenship. The change that the Enlightenment brought to the world, gave women the lifeline they needed to pull away from their domesticated roles as housekeepers, wives, and mothers. Above all, perhaps, the rationalists of the eighteenth century aroused the social conscience of mankind and stimulated the humanitarianism. The Enlightenment allowed a period of educational growth to begin. A new love for knowledge and debate sprung up throughout the century. Women joined in with the intellectual banter by starting salons. If Voltaire transformed the thoughts, and Rousseau the feelings, of the eighteenth century, it was the salons of Paris that the new conceptions of reason and nature, of free thought and the importance of the individual, were sifted, codified, and eventually imposed. Women played a central role in the organization of these intellectual gatherings, holding them in their homes. Mars is the god of war, and his musical themes are clearly warlike: A menacing war drum rhythm is present throughout, with low tones, dominant 5ths, and threatening melodies. Scientifically, Mars appears red through a telescope a color commonly associated with war, rage, blood, and fighting (for example, the phrase seeing red means anger, especially violent anger). Venus, in great contrast to Mars, is a soft, sweet, and loving movement, reflecting the goddess Venus s dominion of romantic love. Through a telescope, Venus appears white with occasional tones of soft yellow colors that are associated with softness, light, and comfort (think of our association between the color white and the concept of purity). The remaining four movements follow the same pattern. Socrates was the son of Sophroniscus, an Athenian sculptor and stone maker, and Phaenarete, a midwife. Because he was not from a superior family, he got a basic Greek education and learned his father s craft at a young age. Before Socrates devoted his life to philosophy, it is believed he worked as a mason for many years. Socrates married Xanthippe, a younger woman and they had three sons Lamprocles, Sophroniscus and Menexenus. Furthermore, the Athenian law required all able bodied males serve as citizen soldiers for duty from ages 18 until they were 60. He participated in three military campaigns during the Peloponnesian War, at Delium, and Potidaea, Amphipolis where he saved the life of Alcibiades, a popular Athenian general. A trait that stayed with him throughout his life was his courage in battle and fearlessness. After his trial, he compared his refusal to retreat from his legal troubles to a soldier s refusal to retreat from battle when threatened with death. IT Management Capability Essay 2.2 Effect of IT management s capability on non financial firm performance IT management capabilities are defined as the ability of an organization s IT and management staff to administer IT resources and transform them for the creation of business value (Peppard J. , 2007). IT function is typically portrayed as an island, separated from the rest of the organization. IT is usually seen as a resource that can be managed from within a box on the organizations map. A similar position is affirmed by (Dehning Stratopoulos, 2003) that uses secondary data from Computerworld to assess IT capabilities and competitive advantage. The study assesses managerial skills and technical skills and discovers that managerial skills are positively related to the duration of competitive advantage. Role of the Donkey in the Ecology The donkey plays a huge role in the environment that cannot go unnoticed. First, for the balance of nature to be complete, a given habitat must have bacteria, herbivores, carnivores, omnivores, and scavengers. In this hierarchy, donkey occupies the herbivore slot as their food is mainly grass. Donkeys eat grass and produce dung, which is used by bacteria for decomposition. Also, they play a huge role as the beast of burden, where they help man to transport his goods from one place to another. Also, in some instances, donkeys could be used to transport man himself. My home area experiences quite warm weather conditions which allow grass to grow properly. This makes the donkeys thrive properly without any struggle. Since they are domesticated, their owners ensure that they supplement the grass with other feeds such as fodder crops. With this, their survival is secure. Twelve hundred feet of this material was wound onto a reel, which then could be hand threaded on a tape drive. These tape drives were approximately the size of a small refrigerator. Digital linear tape (DLT) and Quarter Inch Cartridge (QIC) systems use serpentine recording with 50 or more tracks per tape. Digital audio tape (DAT) and 8mm tape systems use helical scan recording. In other recording systems, the tape passes straight across a fixed magnetic head in a manner similar to a tape recorder. DAT systems pass tape over a tilted rotating drum (capstan), which has two read heads and two write heads, as shown in Figure 7.19. (During write operations, the read heads verify the integrity of the data just after it has been written.) The capstan spins at 2,000 RPM in the direction opposite of the motion of the tape. (This configuration is similar to the mechanism used by VCRs.) The two read/write head assemblies write data at 40 degree angles to one another. Data written by the two heads overlaps, thus increasing the recording density. Climate change is an area where modeling in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climate and our capacity for designing efficient climate adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2 concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables characterizing the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow for nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas, 2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and timing of climate change s impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013). The Characteristics Of Community Psychology Richard Henry PSY 324E October 14, 2017 A Collective Mind Before we can discuss what community psychology is, we must understand what a community is. We often view a community as a collective or randomized people, some happen to work close by, some happen to like the housing market and decided to raise a family, and some may have been in the same town for their whole lives, feeling no interest to look beyond. What is represented here, is the differences within the individuals. No two people have the same exact story, the same upbringing, the same experience. Often times, your neighbor may be nothing like you, yet you may have similarities. The similarities may come from the way you both think politically, to the teams you root for. (you notice he too, has a 12th man sticker plastered on his back windshield) Community psychology is the collection of individuals, their moralities, their viewpoints on the world and the basis in which you collectively live. For the example of different communities, I ll take Portland, Oregon, my new place of residence, versus where I am originally from, Ocean City, New Jersey. Portland is recognized as one of the more inclusive places in the world, a collection of people who look out for each other , wanting everyone to feel both welcome and equal. He chooses to depict three points in their developing relationship: when they first met; as they began to know each other better; and now that they are married. Beginning with a distant view that offers an apparition, he closes up to a more realistic and spiritual view of his wife. The poem s overall tone is of admiration and respect. By observing a woman s eternal beauty, Wordsworth successfully conveys his discovery of what makes his wife truly beautiful. Beginning with a distant view that offers an illusion, he closes up to a more realistic and spiritual appreciation of his wife. The poem is well organized because it has a clear structure which gives us correct understanding. In my opinion the poet wants to depict each and every detail of the lady from the day he met her till now when they are happily married. The beauty which the poet describes about her is eloquent but at the same time it is very calm and soft, something delicate. The sound of the poem is mesmerizing and melodic. The poem s overall tone is of admiration and respect. This poem shows how their relationship grows and how he comes to appreciate her for many different reasons. The poem has a logical order and the analysis makes us capture the main ideas of the poet. But being a romantic description it is also a profound and realistic one. Other aspects I want to talk about are the rhetorical devices and figures of speech. I think they are so interesting in the sense we need to understand them to understand the correct meaning of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In an adversary system the judge and jury as decision makers have a passive role in investigating and gathering evidence and are responsible solely in deciding the case. In contrast, in an inquisitorial system the judge holds a very active role in the process, by choosing which evidence to accept and applying the law to the evidence in deciding the case. Supporters of the adversary system consider this feature as an advantage because they believe that the justice is best achieved where the decision maker is neutral, passive and impartial in deciding the case. Distinction of roles between judges and juries is a further fundamental difference between the adversarial and inquisitorial systems. In an adversarial system, there is a division of work between a judge and jury. The role of the judge is to adjudicate the issue of law and to ensure that the trial proceeds comply with the procedural and substantial laws, while the role of the jury is to adjudicate the issue of facts as served by the opposing parties based on the law given by judges. Generally, a judge will not interfere in jury s decision making, but this approach varies subject to matters being decided in the criminal or civil cases. Premise B, Abraham Lincoln was not friends with John Wilkes booth. is also true. But, the conclusion supposes that because John Wilkes Booth and Lincoln were not friends, Booth would kill Abraham Lincoln. There are multiple ways to show an argument is invalid. One test is Dan Dolson s Test for Validity (D.D.T.V.). To use D.D.T.V. we must pretend the premises are true and find a way in which the conclusion can be false (Dolson, #3, p.1). We have already stated the premises are true so there is no need to pretend, but the test still works.
