The Myths About Immigration By David Cole
An interesting chapter from Current Issues and Enduring Questions was chapter twenty four,
Immigration: What is to be done? Throughout this chapter multiple authors argue their opinion of
immigration in the United States. There is much to learn about this topic because it is extremely
controversial in today s society. It is necessary for one to know both sides of agreeing or
disagreeing with immigrationto fully understand the situation and base an opinion from this
knowledge. The multiple authors within this chapter have different views about immigration but
they all make reasonable accusations. The first essay in chapter twenty four is Five Myths about
Immigration by David Cole. He begins his essay by exploiting a group from the mid nineteenth
century called the Know Nothings who blamed all of America s problems on immigrants. Cole then
goes on to acknowledge what he believes are the five myths about immigration. These myths
include: America is being overrun with immigrants, Immigrants take jobs from U.S. citizens,
Immigrants are a drain on society s resources, Aliens refuse to assimilate and are depriving us of
our cultural and political unity, and lastly noncitizen immigrants are not entitled to constitutional
rights. Cole gives reasons why these five myths are not true and by using facts he makes his
argument more believable. Cole (1994) stated the following: There is virtually no evidence to
support this view, probably the most widespread misunderstanding

The Economic Integration And Industrialisation Essay
In contemporary society, two broad standards of living define an individuals economic, political
and social status (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). These are the developed and developing world, concepts
that have only originated in the last 150 years, which can be characterised by their success in
global economic integration and industrialisation (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). Globalisation has led to
an increasingly connected and global economy, contributing to these often polar areas of the
world. The capitalist ideology has been a driving force in shifting economics to a global scale,
and in pursuit of wealth and competition can be attributed to the inequalities and differences
observed in the developed and developing world. Coupled with the post industrial era,
Globalisation has resulted in the transition from manufacturing centered to service oriented
industries in the developed world, while manufacturing has shifted to the developing world
(Jovanovic 2015, p. 349). This process has led to disparity of wages, inequality and uneven
development across national, regional and individual levels (O Brien Leichenko 2008, p. 96). This
essay identifies the importance of the social and geographical situation of consumers in the
developed or developing world in determining whether they are a beneficiary in the globalised
economy. The role of advanced countries in introducing and monitoring processes of trade, finance
and investment (Nayyar 2006, p. 138) to developing countries and how they are

Diagnosis And Treatment Of The American Heart Association
According to the American Heart Association (AHA) affects nearly 5.7 million Americans and is
responsible for more hospitalizations than all forms of cancer combined. It is the number 1 cause of
hospitalization for Medicare patients. With improved survival of patients with acute myocardial
infarction and with a population that continues to age, heartfailure will continue to increase in
prominence as a major health problem in the United States (Dimitru, 2015,p. Epidemiology). I
chose to report on this condition because my grandmother had lived with this condition
undiagnosed for many years. I feel that early diagnosis and treatment will lead to better outcomes.
With the increasing number of cases each year it is important for the family nurse practitioner to
diagnose and treat this chronic condition.

Effect Of Air Pressure In Basketball
ABSTRACT
The air pressure inside a basketball has the biggest affect on bounce. The purpose of conducting
this experiment is to determine if a basketball with a greater air pressure (psi) inside the basketball
will bounce higher. The hypothesis for this experiment is If air pressure is decreased inside the
basketball, then the bounce height will decrease as well . I have participated in numerous inflatable
ball sport activities and from personal experience this has enabled me to make an opinion on the
results of the experiment, which is expressed in the hypothesis. A video camera was set up on a
tripod, this was the main means of collecting the information by recording the bounce of the
basketball after being released from a height of 2.7 meters in front of a measuring stick. The
experiment was commenced with the basketball inflated to 12 psi and then the psi was decreased
by one unit until the basket ball was measuring zero psi. It was essential that at each level of psi
the basketball was dropped three times to gather an average resulting in more reliable data. When
conducting this experiment the findings revealed the hypothesis was proven correct. When the
basketball had the greatest amount of psi (12) it bounced the highest with a average height of
186.7cm. When the basketball had the least amount of psi (zero) it bounced the lowest height of
16.7cm. The results of this experiment provide valuable information to basketball players as it
identifies that having the right

A Study With Immense Determination And Motivation For...
I began this mini study with immense determination and motivation in hearing personal experiences
from female superintendents regarding the barriers and challenges they faced along their journeys.
Selfishly, I sought to better understand what I may face later down the road, as I personally aspire
to be a superintendentone day. Additionally, I have always had a strong interest in challenges that
marginalized groups often face. Therefore, it seemed like this topic would be natural fit. During my
very first interview, I was quite nervous. Although I had mulled over my questions repeatedly
and had practiced my questions with my husband, classmates, and in the mirror, I wanted to
sound like a competent researcher who was authentically invested in this process. I did not want
to misrepresent myself or the university. I giggled as I listened to the recording of the first
interview. I kept saying good! and okay... for a conversation filler, occasionally even when the
participant was still talking! During this interview, I quickly realized that my questions were out of
order. While I intended to open with easier, less personal questions, I found that stalled deep
conversations regarding gender barriers in the profession. Therefore, I abandoned my specific
conversation order with the two other participants and let the conversationflow more freely. I
believe I was stifling the responses and myself by being too rigid. While that rigidity potentially
came out of fear

email to Dr. Jiminez, the Director of International recruitment for the Mexican University, she
expresses her opinion on the learning and the problems she faced at with her host family. In the
email the reader gets an impression that Sarah has negated the positive images Professor W.A.

Jiminez to minimize the impact of the open mail sent by Sarah. The mail would create
complications in the future relations between the two institutes and a speedy response would
strengthen the relationship in the future. Professor McGill should be first apologetic to Dr.
Jiminez on behalf of Sarah and PLU since the problem faced by Sarah was with the host family
and not with INI or the Agencies. He should bring the attention of Dr. Jiminez to the fact that the
very critical aspect of cross cultural adjustments was overlooked by both the schools when they
embarked on these programmes.
To streamline the process and avoid such embarrassing situations in future, Prof. McGill should
suggest the following to Dr.Jiminez:
a. The host family and INI should have written agreement of dos and donts.
b. Both the schools should exchange the profiles of the students and host families based on which
the students and host families could have an opportunity to select their choice.
c. There should be a proper preparatory sessions on cross cultural behavior for the students who are
opting for study abroad opportunities.
d. There should be a systematic approach for selecting the host families and also the stipend level
for the host family should be revised.
Prof. McGill should diplomatically handle the matter with Sarah. Any censure or criticism by Prof.
McGill at this point could affect her morale

Charles Darwin Transformative Essay
Topic 1: The ways that Darwin s theory of natural selection was transformative to his society.
Charles Darwin grew up as a shy kid who did not show much interest in his studies which led to
his father, a prominent English medical doctor, to send him to a medical school in Edinburgh and
was later sent to Cambridge for clergy and still showed no interest in either but found interest in
nature whilst studying Botany. While studying in Cambridge, he got an offer to embark on a
voyage to survey the coast of South America in the British Navy Ship (Pew Research Centre, 2009)
His most prominent findings were most notably in the Galapagos Islands. He observed the variety
of finches, tortoises in different islands. It is with these observations in which he coined the Natural
Selection and Evolution Theories.
On the voyage, Darwin read books by a British economist, Thomas Malthus, whom studied the
problems of overpopulation and books by Charles Lyell who has written about uniformitarianism.
These two scholars are believed to be the influences of Darwin, according to Rice and Moloney
(2008). Another contemporary of Darwin, Thomas Huxley wrote saying that he felt extremely
stupid not to have thought of that (Huxley 1901).
Of course, no scholar goes unopposed; among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

promoting growth and development. Differences amongst humans may be a result because of how
well requirements for growth have been met. Humans are very sensitive changes in their
surrounding environment. For example, if you were to separate two identical twins, who share the
same parents, and raise them separately in different environmental settings. Variations will
definitely be visible. Genetic variation in some human populations has also revealed how natural
selection has played a role in adaptations to specific

Persuasive Essay On Hiv Aids
Addressing the HIV/AIDS Menace It is quite disturbing to witness someone undergo much
suffering due to a fatal disease, and it is even more painful to lose a loved one because of some
kind illness that cannot be cured. Over the years, many individuals have been unfortunate to face
the devastating effects of diseases such as diabetes, cancer, among others. However, the emergence
of yet another deadly disease known as AIDShas again complicated matters. AIDS has proved to
be one of the most fatal health condition across the world, and its impact in the society has grown
to be a major global challenge today. The disease is essentially caused by the HIV virus, which can
be spread from one person to another through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, and sharing of
cutting and piecing instruments with an infected person (Shukla, 2014). AIDS has not only claimed
the lives of millions of people, but also has its economic implications to the nations of the world.
Although various treatment procedures have been designed to help address this health threat, such
as the use of antiretroviral therapies, the disease, and its associated effects, can only be dealt with
effectively through the development of HIV/AIDS vaccine. Vaccinationhas gained great
recognition as the most effective way of controlling and managing several fatal health
conditions. Thanks to Edward Jenner s successful attempt on small pox, vaccines have been
designed to help protect the human body against many diseases that would have otherwise
caused massive deaths across the world (Macaulay, 2016). Think of what would have happened
if all of these diseases were not prevented, and had to attack someone so that they are dealt with
such as the case of the AIDS disease. It is very evident that once a disease has found its way into
the human body, it acts as a trigger to several other issues that affect the various aspects of human
life. Metzl and Hansen (2014) mention that diseases are normally in a complex relationship with
every aspect of human life, and preventing them is very necessary. This is where vaccination comes
handy. The development of HIV/AIDS vaccine, therefore, would be a great step in establishing
significant resolutions to the current

In this essay I am going to analyze the short story The Kangaroo . The main themes in this essay is
growing up, and becoming a man. It is a short story written by John Michael.
This short story written by John Michael is told from a 3rd person subjective perspective, and is
limited to the boy, who is the main character. This is caused by the way we see everything from
the outside (camera view), but we still know what is going on outside of the boy s head. The way
you can see that it is a 3rd person narrator and not an omniscient narrator is because we only follow
one characters development through the story. You can see that in this quote:

The Clean Water Act ( Cwa )
In 1972 the Clean Water Act (CWA) was passed, and it established the infrastructure for waste
water management in the U.S. The CWA s main objective is to recover and preserve the physical,
biological, and chemical purity of water. The CWA formed a program that would ensure
communities had clean water by limiting the exposure of contaminants in U.S. waterways. Waste
water treatment is essential to the world because it gives people ability to use streams and rivers
for swimming, fishing and drinking water. In the early part of the 20th century, pollution in the
U.S. urban waterways caused negative side effects like fish kills, low dissolved oxygen, bacterial
contamination, and algal blooms. Early attempts of controlling water pollutionkept human waste
from contaminating water supplies or reduced floating junk that hindered shipping. Problems with
Pollution and control were mainly local concerns. Industrial and population growth have increased
the requirement for natural resources, changing the situation drastically. Advancements in
decreasing pollution can hardly keep in front of the increase in population, development of
technology, adjustments in industrial processes, business breakthroughs, increased land use, and
several other factors. The growth in both the variety and quantity of goods manufactured has
greatly altered the size and complexity of waste produced by industries and it challenges standard
treatment technology. The use of pesticides and commercial

Measurement Based Quantum Computation ( Mbqc )
Quantum entanglement, which is often counterintuitive and was originally questioned by Einstein,
Podolsky, and Rosen (EPR),1 is now recognized as a versatile resource for quantum information
protocols.2,3 In order to meet various requirements for various applications, an important
technological development is to increase the number of available entangled qubits. In particular,
measurement based quantum computation (MBQC) requires the cluster type of a large scale
entangled state,4,5 where individual components of the cluster state must be accessible by
measuring devices. The number of entangled qubits with individual accessibility seems to be
currently limited to a moderate scale.6 8 Shifting to the continuous variable (CV)... Show more

With the time domain multiplexing, a cluster state of qumodes can be an arbitrarily long chain in
the longitudinal direction by extending the operating time of the cluster state generator. In spite of
the in principle unlimitation of the time domain multiplexing, the previous experimental
demonstration of a dual rail CV cluster state was limited in the number of qumodes,13 due to a
technical reason as follows. The optical setup is a large Mach Zehnder interferometer as depicted
in Fig. 1, including a long optical delay line for a shift of qumodes on a rail. The mathematical
derivation of the cluster state with this setup is contained in Sec. S1 of the supplementary material.
In order to operate this cluster state generator, the relative phases at all interference points must be
properly locked. For this purpose, modulated bright beams are injected into the optical paths of the
cluster state as phase probes, and their classical interference signals are exploited as error signals
for the feedback control. However, the modulated bright beams are noisy, which obscures objective
quantum level correlation signals of the cluster state. The noises were circumvented in the previous
demonstration by chopping the bright beams and by detecting the cluster

Pros And Cons Of Caesarean Section
Caesarean section (CS) was brought in clinical practice as a life saving procedure both for
mother and baby. Caesarean section (CS ) is a surgical intervention which is carried out to
assure safety of mother and child when vaginal delivery is difficult or when the doctors consider
that the danger to the mother and baby would be greater with a vaginal delivery. One of the
important indicators of emergency obstetric care is Caeserean section rate (World Health
Organization 2009). Various matters like the health care inequity pattern of the world: underuse
of CS in low income settings, and adequate or even unnecessary use in middle and high income
settings can be observed and followed with use of Caeserean section rate(1). Caeserean section
rate below 5 per cent signifies that substantial proportion of women do not have access to
surgical obstetric care; however a rate higher than 15 per cent connotes over utilization of the
surgical procedure for reasons other than for life saving ones (WHO 1993; WHO 1985). Over the

Caesarean birth does cost more than normal vaginal delivery. It is being knocked as it draws
resources from other parts of healthcare. Some have interpreted it as unethical for women
undergoing caesarean section without any medical indication. On the other hand, women are now
encouraged to decide their mode of delivery. More concerns are now put on women s satisfaction,
particularly the pain during labour.More research results showed long term complication of urinary
and faecal problems related to vaginal births. This will make more women request caesarean
section. Maternal request has been reported as a significant factor in the rise in caesarean section
rate.(7).This target of 15% caesarean section rate has been commented as an authoritarian approach

Essay on DeStalinization
DeStalinization
The Origins
В· Desalinization was an extremely sensitive issue, as if it was handed badly, it could provoke
unrest. The post Stalinist officials wished to give the impression that they had not been involved in
Stalin s crime, but also wished to promote change from his style of leadership.
В· Initially, prisoners were released from labor camps and other criminals were rehabilitated, in
order to buy time for a more major action.
В· In 1995 the central committee set up a commission that intended to investigate Stalin s crimes.
However, the commission was extremely limited in what it could condemn. It was not allowed to

В· The speech, however, was not as effective as Khrushchev had hoped. It failed to criticize many
aspects of Stalin s rule and did not condemn Stalin as a person, but rather, the Stalinist system.
Nonetheless, it shocked the delegates, and effectively instigated Desalinization in the Soviet Union.
Why did Khrushchev do it?
* Several possible reasons:
Wished to liberate the party officials from the fear of repression, as under Stalin, no one was safe
to voice an opinion that conflicted to his.
A strategic maneuver on the part of Khrushchev, with the goal of securing his own authority. By
denouncing Stalin, Khrushchev was also undermining the credibility of his competitors, namely
Molotov and Malenkov, who had been members of Stalin s inner circle. This gave them an
ultimatum: side with Khrushchev or be condemned along with Stalin
Truly wished to change the coarse of the development of the Soviet Union
The events that followed
В· Throughout the 1950 s, Khrushchev s policy of Desalinization continued, with many new
policies constructed that greatly deviated from the past Stalinist approach.
В· The SU s approach to agriculture was completely different then under Stalin, putting
collectivization on the backburner and implementing an entirely new agricultural policy, the Virgin
land schemes. Under this, previously

Universal Design For Learning Within Educational Environments
Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the
strengthening of respect for human rights... promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among
all... (The United Nations, 1948). As emphasised by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
education is an inalienable right, and until it is proven that a student will not benefit from or is not
stimulated by being in school, it must be assumed that they are gaining some value from the
experience. Indoctrinated within Universal Designfor Learning (UDL) framework is the need for
teachers to shift from primarily hosting students with additional educational needs, to extensively
engaging them in a fruitful education. Under the principles of Universal Design for Learning,
educators venture to create these meaningful learning experiences as a result of employing
innovative educational mechanisms that ensure the participation of everyone. This essay aims to
explore the invaluable effect of incorporating the elements of Universal Design for Learning within
educational environments, with specific reference to the English curriculum.

Symptoms And Treatment Of A Pressure Ulcer
A pressure ulcer is defined as a localized injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue, usually over
a bony prominence, as a result of pressure, or pressure in combination with shear, according to
the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, abbreviated NPAUP (2007). NPUAP (2007)
redefined the definition and classification of a pressure ulcer in 2007. As a result of the
modification, stages I IV, the four original stages, underwent alterations to their existing
classifications and definitions. In addition, two stages, deep tissue injury and unstageable resulted.
Through an explanation and description of the development of a pressure ulcer and the stages, the
anatomy is shown. For a pressure ulcer to develop, damage to the lining of bloodand lymphatic
vessels, or endothelial damage occur over a bony prominence as the result of several processes
such as a disrupting and shearing force (Gillick Sheerin, 2004, p. 34). Once a pressure ulcer begins

Napolean Bonaparte Considered to be the Savior of the...
An important period in the history of France, was the French Revolution, covering the years of
1789 to 1799 (French Revolution cite). During this period of time, Napolean Bonaprate was
considered to be the savior of the French Revolution and of France itself; Napolean ended the
revolution while putting it in the hands of a government that brought stability and equality
throughout the country (Napolean Bonaparte cite). The main cause of the French Revolutionwas
because of the constant failure of the governments and their ability to manage the country.
However, when Napolean became a leader he made sure that France s current conditions would
change. This individual had a tremendous impact on the region, which many believe saved
France s conception and government. The inveterate legacy from this individual is the
Napoleonic Code (NBS). Napolean based this code mainly on the idea of equality, that way the
region wasn t divided among the rich and poor or wealth status; inequality played a major role in
the French Revolution since people were treated based on their affluence. The Napoleonic Code
divided Civil Law into three categories, thus being: Personal Status, Property, Acquisition of
Property (NBS). Even though there were conflicts among this code, it ensured that everyone would
have a chance to gain personal wealth and status, instead of pursuing off of family sovereignty.
This code, interestingly, is still in use to this day in former French colonies such as Quebec and

Robots And The Robot Robots
In the mid 1970 s second generation robots were introduced. As these robots became more
advanced they were equipped with internal sensors which gave them a major advantage over first
generation robots. This new technology gave them increased information about the world around
them. Robots use sensors to detect changes around them and to respond to their surroundings
based on the information they receive from certain sensors. There are many types of sensors that
perform a variety of tasks by transforming mechanical, heat, and light energies into electrical
signals. The signals produced by sensors communicate to the robot on how it should respond to
different situations. This gives the robot a higher sense of intelligence and adaptive skills by
providing more information about its environment. These skills allow the robot to change their
manipulator location and the position of its end effector so that it can work around obstructions
in its work envelope. The robot s surroundings, the precision needed, and what must be sensed all
help decide what type of sensor must be used for the robot. Depending on these credentials, robots
could be equipped with light, optical, sound, or temperature sensors. Light is a form of radiation
that makes up a group of frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum that we can see. Robots can
react to this form of radiation by using light sensors. Light sensors respond to variations in light
energy by applying many types of opto electronic

Western Culture And Suicide Essay
Eastern and Western Ideologies Surrounding Suicide and Their Origins
In order to understand the eastern and western beliefs about suicide, we must first review and
consider the influences of these beliefs, such as religion and history, as well as the effects of
acculturation. The Eastern and Western cultures have very distinct views on deathand suicide. The
two cultures I will be specifically focusing on is Japan and the United States.
In Japan, there is a strong presence of Buddhism and Shintoism. In Buddhism, death is not the end.
Originally written by Padma Sambhava, and translated by Robert Thurman, the Tibetan Book of the
Dead (1994) states death is merely a door towards enlightenment, and human life is a bridge to
nirvana. Shintoism teaches that a human s soul is everlasting; transitioning into another realm after
the body dies. To those born into the eastern culture, these views on the afterlife are not theories. It
is science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christian devotees do not believe in reincarnation. After the spirit departs, the body reverts to dust,
and the soul returns to God (Ecclesiastes 12:7, King James Version). There is no need for
immortality since there is a heaven. Apart from religion, the western view of death is that of
rejection. Americans use euphemisms, like passed away and transitioned in order to cope with the
misfortune. Instead of cherishing individuals while they are alive, Americans take them for
granted, and when the person departs their deaths are described as premature, sudden, and too
soon . A prime example of this is American actor Paul Walker, who died in a horrific car accident
in 2013. The reason for this is because the westernized culture does not think about death. In the
east, it is considered a bright and natural cycle; death is treated with anxiety and uncertainty in the

everybody can understand the same words. There are hundreds of languages spoken around the

Good Parenting In A Good Man Is Hard To Find
A parent s ability to properly raise a child stands as the most pivotal test in their chapter of life as
guardians. The quality of a guardians parenting skills create the foundation for the child to grow
and prosper in their lifetime as good, moral human beings. As a society, we understand that we need
to teach our children right from wrong, not talk to strangers, and to always share with others. These
just begin to break the surface of the many lessons that good parents should instill into their children

In today s society, some unfortunate families stay stuck in a vicious cycle of crime that they can
t evade. The parents resort to a life of crime so inevitably the children follow in their parents
footsteps and live the same lifestyle. In A Good Man is Hard to Find the concept of kids learning
the wrong lessons from their parents remains quite apparent. June and John both hold tendencies to
shriek out words of pure disrespect to any person they talk to. For example, John expresses that
Tennessee is just a hillbilly dumping ground, disrespecting not only the Grandmothers opinion on
wanting to go to Tennessee, but Tennessee as a state as well. Also, June says I wouldn t live in a
broken down place like this for a million bucks! in several variations throughout the story. The kids
act and speak in this manner because they learn this from their parents and Grandmother who don t
assume the roles of good parents. In addition to disrespectfulness, the children often times behave
violently and fight with not only each other but other family members as well. On the drive to
Florida, June and John began to savagely slap each other because supposedly John doesn t play

A Study on Operant and Classical Conditioning
Operant and Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning best explains reflective responding that
is largely controlled by stimuli preceding the response, while operant conditioning is the kind of
learning influenced by stimulus events that follow the responses. (Weiten). In operant conditioning,
reinforcement is defined as after the fact. Reinforcement follows a response and increases tendency
to make the response. In classical conditioning, the reinforcement comes before the response is
made and increases tendency to make the response. A middle school teacher intercepted a note that
contained personal information, read it out loud, and the student the note was intended for leaves
the class and school, feels sick at going to school the next day, and becomes ill at the thought of
the teacher. This is a classical conditioning case. (Daniels, 2009). If the student s behavior had
happened before the teacher intercepted the note and read it out loud, it would have been a case of
operant conditioning. In classical conditioning, the student s reaction to the teacher, classroom, and
the school is a conditioned response and creates a physiological reaction. In operant conditioning,
the teacher s reaction to the student s behavior, if reversed, would have been conditioned and
creates a physiological reaction. Operant responding is controlled by consequences as response
outcomes (R O) are learned. In operant conditioning the student s response can be considered a
consequence

The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall Analysis
The Jilting of Granny Weatherall, a short story by Katherine Anne Porter, describes the last
thoughts, feelings, and memories of an elderly woman. The importance of the title becomes
obvious as Granny Weatherall s life flashes before her eyes. She is an 80 year old woman who is
bedridden, stubborn, sick, and in denial. She has four children one of whom had passed away:
Lydia, Cornelia, Jimmy, and Haps. Critics agree that there is no sign from God that her soul will
be accepted into heaven. Granny Weatherall expects a sign from God, but overlooks it when it is
given. Granny undeniably gets a sign from God; however, she overlooks this sign because it is
Hapsy her last born daughter that had passed away.
Granny has flash backs of her life that goes as far back as 60 years. Hapsy was the one that
Granny wanted. Did you send for Hapsy to? (68) As Granny Weatherall moves closer to death her
thoughts become more scattered. Making connections with her thoughts is possible to conclude
that Hapsy is her favorite daughter that she longs to see once again. Hapsy had been her last born
child, that had passed away. Hapsy melted from within and turned flimsy as gray gauze and the
baby was a gauzy shadow, and Hapsy came up close and said, I thought you d never come, and
looked at her very searchingly and said, You haven t changed a bit! (68) Granny imagines telling
Hapsy many things in Heaven, that she was not able to do so here on earth. Granny was
searching for Hapsy. She had to go long way back through many great rooms to find Hapsy
standing with a baby on her arm. (68) Hapsy was Granny s sign from Christ, but because Granny
overlooked this it is a sign of the rejection of the jilting Granny Weather Courageously faced.
Granny has been through several triumphs in her life. She was about to marry George and he left
her at the altar. After that happened she married and her husband John which passed away. She
learned to be an independent woman that did not rely on anyone. She had fenced in a hundred
acres once, digging the post holes herself and clamping the wires with just a negro boy to help.
(67) She did both chores that the woman and the man would do. At the end, Granny blew out the
light in fear of

Seneca Virtue Causes
The Cause and Effects of Virtue
Virtue can be defined as behavior that shows high moral standards. Virtue is a useful quality that
can drastically improve the quality of living for a person. Lucius Annaeus Seneca did not agree
with the idea of the liberal studies being able to give us virtue, he believed that the right way to
becoming virtuous was through doing good deeds and gaining morality in order to become a better
person. Once virtue is gained, it affects the person positively and they are left with many desirable
characteristics such as temperance, wisdom, and loyalty. The cause of virtue is gaining morality

In Britain s eyes, Colonial America was nothing but another piece of land that earned them money,
but as it began to be acknowledged by other powerful countries for its self sufficient lifestyle, it

anything but easy for America to form in the first place. From 1765 to 1783, the American

Abraham Was The Grandfather Jacob, The Israelite Patriarch
Bell 2
Introduction
Abraham was the grandfather Jacob, the Israelite patriarch. The Israelite lineage consists of
descendants from Jacob and his 12 sons, that later became the12 tribes of Israel. Scholars and
many Christians believe that the strife between Arab nations and the Israelites originated before
Jacob, with his grandfather, Abraham and his son Jacob. Abraham lived several hundred years B.C.
According to the Bible and other legends and references God had promised Abraham a child and
from this child`s lineage would come a great nation. He was to have the child with his wife Sarah.
Sarah was thought to be barren and too old to conceive. In this time and culture, it was custom that

Sarah saw that her hand maiden, Hagar, held contempt for her and Abraham told Sarah to do as

Ishmael, and it would be numerous. She was told her son would be wild and violent and would

to be the father of the nation of Israel. Ishmael became the father of what is now considered the

in use of recreational drugs, changing societal views, some states are legalizing Marijuana use
and a more empathic view of being young and doing things that may be regretted later. Opponents
will say this is just another way of lowering standards, while proponents of the change will say
this is an adjustment in the realities that agencies are facing with regard to hiring. Time will tell if
this change is procedure has ill effects or was the right

Comparing Artemisia Gentileschi And Leonardo Da Vinci
Everyone knows Leonardo da Vinci, but do you know Artemisia Gentileschi? Women in the
renaissance, no matter how talented, were always degraded by men. These two admirable artists
both helped society by creating new painting techniques and many more new artistic skills.
However they both came from very different backgrounds and both were treated in different ways.
Artemisia Gentileschi, was the daughter of a major follower of revolutionary paintings. In her
early years she developed a love of painting and begged her father to become a pupil of a
landscape painter. The painter was a friend of her father s and reluctantly agreed. Her first work
of art was a biblical image. Susanna and the Elders ( Artemisia Gentileschi ). Leonardo da Vinci on
the other hand, was a illegitimate son of a Florentine landlord. Thus he was sent to school and ...

She also collaborated with King Charles the I of Great Britain by being paid to take part on
ceiling painting in Great Hall in Queen s House in Greenwich. ( Artemisia Gentileschi ) Over
the years she painted many portraits and surpassed many artists that had tried to grab fame.
Despite the fact that Artemisia was a great artist, Leonardo s most famous works of art were and
still are greatly admired. The Mona Lisa and the Last Supper are the most renown and greatly
printed pieces of art in the world!( Leonardo Di Ser Piero Da Vinci. ) Also unlike Artemisia,
Leonardo would often procrastinate and do experiments on his artwork. Nevertheless, Leonardo
was a multitasker and the art that he did finish were and still are revolutionary. ( Leonardo Di Ser
Piero Da Vinci. ) Artemisia Gentileschi and Leonardo da Vinci were both amazing artists, however
their life as artists was greatly impacted by their

Penny Lab Essay
In this lab we will be heating up substances and use them to galvanize pennies. When you heat up
the zinc, and then coat the penny in it, it then galvanizes the penny. Meaning, it helps protect the
penny from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the
penny. This helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On
part B of this experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what
reaction you get. The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinccovered pennies is
that the pennies will change color.
In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are
loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing
(Francis, E . . .). Metallic bonds are when the electrons are shared and are able to move and how C
models show that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps
produce its characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). In a redox
reaction, oxidation and reduction happens. Also you can t have reduction happening without
oxidation also happening along with it. Redox reactions oxidation is the loss of electrons
and
reduction is the gain of electrons (Redox . . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iron not only needs water, but also oxygen in order to form rust. (Rusting . . .). Galvanizing
involves coating corrosive metals with a non corrosive metal, which not only protects from
corrosion of soft metals but also adds strength of the original, uncoated metal. Hot dipping is one
way of galvanizing, which is when you dip a metal into hot melted zinc (What . . .). When the
metal is dipped into the melted zinc, it creates a protective shell around the metal and keeps it from
rusting away from oxygen and

My First Job At The Whale s Tale Ice Cream
I gained valuable work experience and specialized skills at various jobs while attending junior
school , high school and community college. Each job took me out of my comfort zone by
meeting new people whom had different ethics, work experience, and financial backgrounds than
my own. My first job was at The Whale s Tale Ice Cream Shop in the Hamptons, an exclusive
vacation destination in New York. The following summer I put in an application at the Vine Street
Cafe which is a high end restaurant in the Hamptons. That same summer I worked in the morning
shift as a busboy for the Chequit Inn. From this experience I learned that hard work and
dedication are key factors to being successful. Those principles have helped me excel at each job I

Human Rights Against Human Rights
Human rights are the internal and external privileges which all humans are considered given
including freedom to live, liberty, equality, and a fair trial, freedom from slavery and torture, and
freedom of thought and expression. But, even the privileges that our countries and life itself give
us can be violated or even taken away. A more specific example is the death penalty or capital
punishment, which is the most severe government ruling of executing a convicted criminal. This
practice is extremely common in America and other countries around the world. Many argue that
the execution of a human life is not a human rightsviolation using hammurabi s code of an eye for
an eye, a life for a life and that capital murders deserve to be capitally murdered. But considering
constitutional issues, precedents and other global issues, the death penalty is a human rights
violation. Justice is not served, when one kills in the name of justice. America s stance on capital
punishment is at a 62% 38% for the death penalty, but due to recent allegations and decisions the
support for the death penalty is rapidly decreasing across the United States. There are 31 states with
the death penalty: Alabama Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho,
Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New
Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon,Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota,

The Current Status Of Galaxy Formation
The field of physics encompasses a variety of topics and sub disciplines which include astronomy,
cosmology, and particle physics, to name a few. As a student in the physics field, it is important to
understand how physicists actually write and make arguments in their respective disciplines. By
being able to analyze and rhetorically inspect an article, the material becomes more
comprehensible and some potential implications of the writing begin to resound with the reader.
The more we learn about the universe, the more we can predict what is to come and apply that
knowledge to everyday life. Physicsis a highly technical field with most of its papers including an
immense amount of jargon, models, evidence, and observations. An inspection of an article entitled
The Current Status of GalaxyFormation, written by Joseph Silk and Gary Mamon and published in
Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics(RAA), demonstrates these qualities in abundance and
goes beyond them into the realm of how the research involving galaxy formation will change in
the future. The exigence or urgency of this article is never explicitly stated, but it can be garnered
from a cursory inspection that furthering the research in the field of cosmology (the study of the
origin, evolution, and development of the universe), especially as it applies to galaxies, can lead to
scientific and public understanding of what the future holds for us. This is important not merely for
curiosity s sake, but also for

New Orleans Jazz Research Paper
New Orleans Jazz
Introduction
Jazz is a music genre which came up from the creativity of different people from diverse
backgrounds. It s a known fact that it originated from New Orleans, USA. The music genre was
often played at funerals and sometimes in churches too. Even before the jazz music, for the people
of New Orleans music was just more than a luxury is was considered a necessity.
Origin of Jazz New Orleans jazz music started back in the nineteenth century, and it was as a
result of the love for music that the new Orleanais have and due to the treating of music as a
necessity and not like many other parts that treat music as a luxury (Watts Erick p57). The new jazz
began to emerge in the context of the full musical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. The Myths About Immigration By David Cole An interesting chapter from Current Issues and Enduring Questions was chapter twenty four, Immigration: What is to be done? Throughout this chapter multiple authors argue their opinion of immigration in the United States. There is much to learn about this topic because it is extremely controversial in today s society. It is necessary for one to know both sides of agreeing or disagreeing with immigrationto fully understand the situation and base an opinion from this knowledge. The multiple authors within this chapter have different views about immigration but they all make reasonable accusations. The first essay in chapter twenty four is Five Myths about Immigration by David Cole. He begins his essay by exploiting a group from the mid nineteenth century called the Know Nothings who blamed all of America s problems on immigrants. Cole then goes on to acknowledge what he believes are the five myths about immigration. These myths include: America is being overrun with immigrants, Immigrants take jobs from U.S. citizens, Immigrants are a drain on society s resources, Aliens refuse to assimilate and are depriving us of our cultural and political unity, and lastly noncitizen immigrants are not entitled to constitutional rights. Cole gives reasons why these five myths are not true and by using facts he makes his argument more believable. Cole (1994) stated the following: There is virtually no evidence to support this view, probably the most widespread misunderstanding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Economic Integration And Industrialisation Essay In contemporary society, two broad standards of living define an individuals economic, political and social status (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). These are the developed and developing world, concepts that have only originated in the last 150 years, which can be characterised by their success in global economic integration and industrialisation (Nayyar 2013, pp. 41). Globalisation has led to an increasingly connected and global economy, contributing to these often polar areas of the world. The capitalist ideology has been a driving force in shifting economics to a global scale, and in pursuit of wealth and competition can be attributed to the inequalities and differences observed in the developed and developing world. Coupled with the post industrial era, Globalisation has resulted in the transition from manufacturing centered to service oriented industries in the developed world, while manufacturing has shifted to the developing world (Jovanovic 2015, p. 349). This process has led to disparity of wages, inequality and uneven development across national, regional and individual levels (O Brien Leichenko 2008, p. 96). This essay identifies the importance of the social and geographical situation of consumers in the developed or developing world in determining whether they are a beneficiary in the globalised economy. The role of advanced countries in introducing and monitoring processes of trade, finance and investment (Nayyar 2006, p. 138) to developing countries and how they are ... • 4. Diagnosis And Treatment Of The American Heart Association According to the American Heart Association (AHA) affects nearly 5.7 million Americans and is responsible for more hospitalizations than all forms of cancer combined. It is the number 1 cause of hospitalization for Medicare patients. With improved survival of patients with acute myocardial infarction and with a population that continues to age, heartfailure will continue to increase in prominence as a major health problem in the United States (Dimitru, 2015,p. Epidemiology). I chose to report on this condition because my grandmother had lived with this condition undiagnosed for many years. I feel that early diagnosis and treatment will lead to better outcomes. With the increasing number of cases each year it is important for the family nurse practitioner to diagnose and treat this chronic condition. Patient Demographics Kim is a 53 year old woman who developed 6/10 (on a 0 10 pain scale) chest pain and shortness of breath in the airport after flying from Chicago, IL to Sioux Falls, SD. She was transported to the hospital by paramedics. She was alert and oriented with stable vital signs and oxygen saturation of 87%. Her electrocardiogram (EKG) showed normal sinus rhythm with no acute abnormalities; heart rate of 90. History included hypertension for 15 years, mild obesity, and hyperlipidemia. • 5. Effect Of Air Pressure In Basketball ABSTRACT The air pressure inside a basketball has the biggest affect on bounce. The purpose of conducting this experiment is to determine if a basketball with a greater air pressure (psi) inside the basketball will bounce higher. The hypothesis for this experiment is If air pressure is decreased inside the basketball, then the bounce height will decrease as well . I have participated in numerous inflatable ball sport activities and from personal experience this has enabled me to make an opinion on the results of the experiment, which is expressed in the hypothesis. A video camera was set up on a tripod, this was the main means of collecting the information by recording the bounce of the basketball after being released from a height of 2.7 meters in front of a measuring stick. The experiment was commenced with the basketball inflated to 12 psi and then the psi was decreased by one unit until the basket ball was measuring zero psi. It was essential that at each level of psi the basketball was dropped three times to gather an average resulting in more reliable data. When conducting this experiment the findings revealed the hypothesis was proven correct. When the basketball had the greatest amount of psi (12) it bounced the highest with a average height of 186.7cm. When the basketball had the least amount of psi (zero) it bounced the lowest height of 16.7cm. The results of this experiment provide valuable information to basketball players as it identifies that having the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Study With Immense Determination And Motivation For... I began this mini study with immense determination and motivation in hearing personal experiences from female superintendents regarding the barriers and challenges they faced along their journeys. Selfishly, I sought to better understand what I may face later down the road, as I personally aspire to be a superintendentone day. Additionally, I have always had a strong interest in challenges that marginalized groups often face. Therefore, it seemed like this topic would be natural fit. During my very first interview, I was quite nervous. Although I had mulled over my questions repeatedly and had practiced my questions with my husband, classmates, and in the mirror, I wanted to sound like a competent researcher who was authentically invested in this process. I did not want to misrepresent myself or the university. I giggled as I listened to the recording of the first interview. I kept saying good! and okay... for a conversation filler, occasionally even when the participant was still talking! During this interview, I quickly realized that my questions were out of order. While I intended to open with easier, less personal questions, I found that stalled deep conversations regarding gender barriers in the profession. Therefore, I abandoned my specific conversation order with the two other participants and let the conversationflow more freely. I believe I was stifling the responses and myself by being too rigid. While that rigidity potentially came out of fear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Charles Darwin Transformative Essay Topic 1: The ways that Darwin s theory of natural selection was transformative to his society. Charles Darwin grew up as a shy kid who did not show much interest in his studies which led to his father, a prominent English medical doctor, to send him to a medical school in Edinburgh and was later sent to Cambridge for clergy and still showed no interest in either but found interest in nature whilst studying Botany. While studying in Cambridge, he got an offer to embark on a voyage to survey the coast of South America in the British Navy Ship (Pew Research Centre, 2009) His most prominent findings were most notably in the Galapagos Islands. He observed the variety of finches, tortoises in different islands. It is with these observations in which he coined the Natural Selection and Evolution Theories. On the voyage, Darwin read books by a British economist, Thomas Malthus, whom studied the problems of overpopulation and books by Charles Lyell who has written about uniformitarianism. These two scholars are believed to be the influences of Darwin, according to Rice and Moloney (2008). • 11. Persuasive Essay On Hiv Aids Addressing the HIV/AIDS Menace It is quite disturbing to witness someone undergo much suffering due to a fatal disease, and it is even more painful to lose a loved one because of some kind illness that cannot be cured. Over the years, many individuals have been unfortunate to face the devastating effects of diseases such as diabetes, cancer, among others. However, the emergence of yet another deadly disease known as AIDShas again complicated matters. AIDS has proved to be one of the most fatal health condition across the world, and its impact in the society has grown to be a major global challenge today. The disease is essentially caused by the HIV virus, which can be spread from one person to another through sexual intercourse, blood transfusion, and sharing of cutting and piecing instruments with an infected person (Shukla, 2014). AIDS has not only claimed the lives of millions of people, but also has its economic implications to the nations of the world. Although various treatment procedures have been designed to help address this health threat, such as the use of antiretroviral therapies, the disease, and its associated effects, can only be dealt with effectively through the development of HIV/AIDS vaccine. Vaccinationhas gained great recognition as the most effective way of controlling and managing several fatal health conditions. Thanks to Edward Jenner s successful attempt on small pox, vaccines have been designed to help protect the human body against many diseases that would have otherwise caused massive deaths across the world (Macaulay, 2016). Think of what would have happened if all of these diseases were not prevented, and had to attack someone so that they are dealt with such as the case of the AIDS disease. It is very evident that once a disease has found its way into the human body, it acts as a trigger to several other issues that affect the various aspects of human life. Metzl and Hansen (2014) mention that diseases are normally in a complex relationship with every aspect of human life, and preventing them is very necessary. This is where vaccination comes handy. The development of HIV/AIDS vaccine, therefore, would be a great step in establishing significant resolutions to the current ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Clean Water Act ( Cwa ) In 1972 the Clean Water Act (CWA) was passed, and it established the infrastructure for waste water management in the U.S. The CWA s main objective is to recover and preserve the physical, biological, and chemical purity of water. The CWA formed a program that would ensure communities had clean water by limiting the exposure of contaminants in U.S. waterways. Waste water treatment is essential to the world because it gives people ability to use streams and rivers for swimming, fishing and drinking water. In the early part of the 20th century, pollution in the U.S. urban waterways caused negative side effects like fish kills, low dissolved oxygen, bacterial contamination, and algal blooms. Early attempts of controlling water pollutionkept human waste from contaminating water supplies or reduced floating junk that hindered shipping. Problems with Pollution and control were mainly local concerns. Industrial and population growth have increased the requirement for natural resources, changing the situation drastically. Advancements in decreasing pollution can hardly keep in front of the increase in population, development of technology, adjustments in industrial processes, business breakthroughs, increased land use, and several other factors. The growth in both the variety and quantity of goods manufactured has greatly altered the size and complexity of waste produced by industries and it challenges standard treatment technology. Measurement Based Quantum Computation ( Mbqc ) Quantum entanglement, which is often counterintuitive and was originally questioned by Einstein, Podolsky, and Rosen (EPR),1 is now recognized as a versatile resource for quantum information protocols.2,3 In order to meet various requirements for various applications, an important technological development is to increase the number of available entangled qubits. In particular, measurement based quantum computation (MBQC) requires the cluster type of a large scale entangled state,4,5 where individual components of the cluster state must be accessible by measuring devices. The number of entangled qubits with individual accessibility seems to be currently limited to a moderate scale.6 8 Shifting to the continuous variable (CV)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the time domain multiplexing, a cluster state of qumodes can be an arbitrarily long chain in the longitudinal direction by extending the operating time of the cluster state generator. In spite of the in principle unlimitation of the time domain multiplexing, the previous experimental demonstration of a dual rail CV cluster state was limited in the number of qumodes,13 due to a technical reason as follows. The optical setup is a large Mach Zehnder interferometer as depicted in Fig. 1, including a long optical delay line for a shift of qumodes on a rail. The mathematical derivation of the cluster state with this setup is contained in Sec. S1 of the supplementary material. In order to operate this cluster state generator, the relative phases at all interference points must be properly locked. For this purpose, modulated bright beams are injected into the optical paths of the cluster state as phase probes, and their classical interference signals are exploited as error signals for the feedback control. However, the modulated bright beams are noisy, which obscures objective quantum level correlation signals of the cluster state. The noises were circumvented in the previous demonstration by chopping the bright beams and by detecting the cluster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Pros And Cons Of Caesarean Section Caesarean section (CS) was brought in clinical practice as a life saving procedure both for mother and baby. Caesarean section (CS ) is a surgical intervention which is carried out to assure safety of mother and child when vaginal delivery is difficult or when the doctors consider that the danger to the mother and baby would be greater with a vaginal delivery. One of the important indicators of emergency obstetric care is Caeserean section rate (World Health Organization 2009). Various matters like the health care inequity pattern of the world: underuse of CS in low income settings, and adequate or even unnecessary use in middle and high income settings can be observed and followed with use of Caeserean section rate(1). Caeserean section rate below 5 per cent signifies that substantial proportion of women do not have access to surgical obstetric care; however a rate higher than 15 per cent connotes over utilization of the surgical procedure for reasons other than for life saving ones (WHO 1993; WHO 1985). • 23. Symptoms And Treatment Of A Pressure Ulcer A pressure ulcer is defined as a localized injury to the skin and/or underlying tissue, usually over a bony prominence, as a result of pressure, or pressure in combination with shear, according to the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, abbreviated NPAUP (2007). NPUAP (2007) redefined the definition and classification of a pressure ulcer in 2007. As a result of the modification, stages I IV, the four original stages, underwent alterations to their existing classifications and definitions. In addition, two stages, deep tissue injury and unstageable resulted. Through an explanation and description of the development of a pressure ulcer and the stages, the anatomy is shown. For a pressure ulcer to develop, damage to the lining of bloodand lymphatic vessels, or endothelial damage occur over a bony prominence as the result of several processes such as a disrupting and shearing force (Gillick Sheerin, 2004, p. 34). Once a pressure ulcer begins to develop, deep tissue damage gradually rises to shallower tissues. According to Gillick and Sheerin (2004), the extent of damage caused by a pressure ulcer is related to the pressure and repeated pressure applications and the length of time that a body part is exposed to pressure (p. 34). Therefore, locally reduce blood flow, which could cause complications if the endothelium is impaired, and locally reduce oxygen levels and increase carbon dioxide levels are a direct result of irregular pressure. • 24. Napolean Bonaparte Considered to be the Savior of the... An important period in the history of France, was the French Revolution, covering the years of 1789 to 1799 (French Revolution cite). During this period of time, Napolean Bonaprate was considered to be the savior of the French Revolution and of France itself; Napolean ended the revolution while putting it in the hands of a government that brought stability and equality throughout the country (Napolean Bonaparte cite). The main cause of the French Revolutionwas because of the constant failure of the governments and their ability to manage the country. However, when Napolean became a leader he made sure that France s current conditions would change. This individual had a tremendous impact on the region, which many believe saved France s conception and government. The inveterate legacy from this individual is the Napoleonic Code (NBS). Napolean based this code mainly on the idea of equality, that way the region wasn t divided among the rich and poor or wealth status; inequality played a major role in the French Revolution since people were treated based on their affluence. The Napoleonic Code divided Civil Law into three categories, thus being: Personal Status, Property, Acquisition of Property (NBS). Even though there were conflicts among this code, it ensured that everyone would have a chance to gain personal wealth and status, instead of pursuing off of family sovereignty. • 25. Robots And The Robot Robots In the mid 1970 s second generation robots were introduced. As these robots became more advanced they were equipped with internal sensors which gave them a major advantage over first generation robots. This new technology gave them increased information about the world around them. Robots use sensors to detect changes around them and to respond to their surroundings based on the information they receive from certain sensors. There are many types of sensors that perform a variety of tasks by transforming mechanical, heat, and light energies into electrical signals. The signals produced by sensors communicate to the robot on how it should respond to different situations. This gives the robot a higher sense of intelligence and adaptive skills by providing more information about its environment. These skills allow the robot to change their manipulator location and the position of its end effector so that it can work around obstructions in its work envelope. The robot s surroundings, the precision needed, and what must be sensed all help decide what type of sensor must be used for the robot. Depending on these credentials, robots could be equipped with light, optical, sound, or temperature sensors. Light is a form of radiation that makes up a group of frequencies in the electromagnetic spectrum that we can see. Robots can react to this form of radiation by using light sensors. • 26. Western Culture And Suicide Essay Eastern and Western Ideologies Surrounding Suicide and Their Origins In order to understand the eastern and western beliefs about suicide, we must first review and consider the influences of these beliefs, such as religion and history, as well as the effects of acculturation. The Eastern and Western cultures have very distinct views on deathand suicide. The two cultures I will be specifically focusing on is Japan and the United States. In Japan, there is a strong presence of Buddhism and Shintoism. In Buddhism, death is not the end. Originally written by Padma Sambhava, and translated by Robert Thurman, the Tibetan Book of the Dead (1994) states death is merely a door towards enlightenment, and human life is a bridge to nirvana. Shintoism teaches that a human s soul is everlasting; transitioning into another realm after the body dies. To those born into the eastern culture, these views on the afterlife are not theories. It is science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christian devotees do not believe in reincarnation. After the spirit departs, the body reverts to dust, and the soul returns to God (Ecclesiastes 12:7, King James Version). There is no need for immortality since there is a heaven. Apart from religion, the western view of death is that of rejection. Americans use euphemisms, like passed away and transitioned in order to cope with the misfortune. Instead of cherishing individuals while they are alive, Americans take them for granted, and when the person departs their deaths are described as premature, sudden, and too soon . A prime example of this is American actor Paul Walker, who died in a horrific car accident in 2013. The reason for this is because the westernized culture does not think about death. In the east, it is considered a bright and natural cycle; death is treated with anxiety and uncertainty in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Study on Operant and Classical Conditioning Operant and Classical Conditioning Classical conditioning best explains reflective responding that is largely controlled by stimuli preceding the response, while operant conditioning is the kind of learning influenced by stimulus events that follow the responses. (Weiten). In operant conditioning, reinforcement is defined as after the fact. Reinforcement follows a response and increases tendency to make the response. In classical conditioning, the reinforcement comes before the response is made and increases tendency to make the response. A middle school teacher intercepted a note that contained personal information, read it out loud, and the student the note was intended for leaves the class and school, feels sick at going to school the next day, and becomes ill at the thought of the teacher. This is a classical conditioning case. (Daniels, 2009). If the student s behavior had happened before the teacher intercepted the note and read it out loud, it would have been a case of operant conditioning. In classical conditioning, the student s reaction to the teacher, classroom, and the school is a conditioned response and creates a physiological reaction. In operant conditioning, the teacher s reaction to the student s behavior, if reversed, would have been conditioned and creates a physiological reaction. The importance of the title becomes obvious as Granny Weatherall s life flashes before her eyes. She is an 80 year old woman who is bedridden, stubborn, sick, and in denial. She has four children one of whom had passed away: Lydia, Cornelia, Jimmy, and Haps. Critics agree that there is no sign from God that her soul will be accepted into heaven. Granny Weatherall expects a sign from God, but overlooks it when it is given. Granny undeniably gets a sign from God; however, she overlooks this sign because it is Hapsy her last born daughter that had passed away. Granny has flash backs of her life that goes as far back as 60 years. Hapsy was the one that Granny wanted. Did you send for Hapsy to? Hapsy melted from within and turned flimsy as gray gauze and the baby was a gauzy shadow, and Hapsy came up close and said, I thought you d never come, and looked at her very searchingly and said, You haven t changed a bit! God spoke to Hagar and told her to submit to Sarah and go back. God promised her a different nation would come from her son, Ishmael, and it would be numerous. She was told her son would be wild and violent and would always cause trouble with his kinsmen . Soon, Sarah bore Abraham a son named Isaac, and he was to be the father of the nation of Israel. Ishmael became the father of what is now considered the Arab lineage. The land that was promised to Abraham and his son, the promised land , was the center of many disputes. Ishmael`s line believed the land was rightfully theirs as Ishmael was the first born son. Ishmael was a son conceived out of disobedience and sin to a woman who was not Abraham`s wife making him an illegitimate child. Israel believed the land was rightfully theirs because it was promised to them by God. This is what many believe to be the root of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Ortmeier Davis, 2012) One of the first issues that needed to be standardized was who should be a police officer and who can be depended upon to protect the citizens. Over the years, police hiring standards have changed to meet the cultural standards of the times and needs of the profession. Law enforcement agencies are expected to hire officers who are above reproach, will always make to right choice, have incredible empathy and be able to stay detached even when someone... The reason for this change in procedure is due to several reasons. Opponents will say this is just another way of lowering standards, while proponents of the change will say this is an adjustment in the realities that agencies are facing with regard to hiring. • 46. Penny Lab Essay In this lab we will be heating up substances and use them to galvanize pennies. When you heat up the zinc, and then coat the penny in it, it then galvanizes the penny. Meaning, it helps protect the penny from oxygen and water. Afterwards, you will need to record data such as the mass of the penny. This helps keep track of what physical traits are being changed during this experiment. On part B of this experiment, you will be heating up the now galvanized pennies in order to see what reaction you get. The reaction you should receive from heating up the now zinccovered pennies is that the pennies will change color. In metallic bonding, the reason it is so good at conducting heat and electricity, is the electrons are loosely held in the atom. Also, the structural pattern of metals is hexagonal close packing (Francis, E . . .). Metallic bonds are when the electrons are shared and are able to move and how C models show that. The idea of the electrons being able to move, delocalized electrons, helps produce its characteristics like conductivity and malleability, etc. (Anderson . . .). • 51. Human Rights Against Human Rights Human rights are the internal and external privileges which all humans are considered given including freedom to live, liberty, equality, and a fair trial, freedom from slavery and torture, and freedom of thought and expression. But, even the privileges that our countries and life itself give us can be violated or even taken away. A more specific example is the death penalty or capital punishment, which is the most severe government ruling of executing a convicted criminal. This practice is extremely common in America and other countries around the world. Many argue that the execution of a human life is not a human rightsviolation using hammurabi s code of an eye for an eye, a life for a life and that capital murders deserve to be capitally murdered. But considering constitutional issues, precedents and other global issues, the death penalty is a human rights violation. Justice is not served, when one kills in the name of justice. America s stance on capital punishment is at a 62% 38% for the death penalty, but due to recent allegations and decisions the support for the death penalty is rapidly decreasing across the United States. There are 31 states with the death penalty: Alabama Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon,Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, ... • 52. The Current Status Of Galaxy Formation The field of physics encompasses a variety of topics and sub disciplines which include astronomy, cosmology, and particle physics, to name a few. As a student in the physics field, it is important to understand how physicists actually write and make arguments in their respective disciplines. By being able to analyze and rhetorically inspect an article, the material becomes more comprehensible and some potential implications of the writing begin to resound with the reader. The more we learn about the universe, the more we can predict what is to come and apply that knowledge to everyday life. Physicsis a highly technical field with most of its papers including an immense amount of jargon, models, evidence, and observations. An inspection of an article entitled The Current Status of GalaxyFormation, written by Joseph Silk and Gary Mamon and published in Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics(RAA), demonstrates these qualities in abundance and goes beyond them into the realm of how the research involving galaxy formation will change in the future. The exigence or urgency of this article is never explicitly stated, but it can be garnered from a cursory inspection that furthering the research in the field of cosmology (the study of the origin, evolution, and development of the universe), especially as it applies to galaxies, can lead to scientific and public understanding of what the future holds for us. This is important not merely for curiosity s sake, but also for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
