Jesus Christ Research Paper
This paper will argue the misconceptions pertaining to the description of Jesus Christ s race
transcribing as Caucasian or European in different perceptions of artwork using his origin,
characteristics that appearing from his region, and the word written in the holy text. Furthermore this
paper will argue how the improper depiction of Jesus Christ created numerous ongoing equality
complications with previous generations up until present day, thus fabricating my argument that the
depiction of Jesus Christ in the Christian Religion should be banned. The portrayal of Jesus Christ

Alexander The Great Greek Crusader
Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He established
an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent to which
Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and
Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the
democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be Greek had become
estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able to embody this Greek culture as the
King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do
not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of
vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the
use of force. The term Persian King could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but
also their customs and the favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the
way they were viewed and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the
statement is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could
trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire
his later actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign

Health Literacy Paper
An understanding of literacy, and health literacy is crucial to understand their impact on client health
outcomes. Further, a nurse s ability to better educate clients lies in his or her understanding of these
terms. Literacy is a multilayered, dynamic and complex topic; however, in short literacy is a set of
skills including reading, writing oral skills, numeracy skills, and skills that enable us to acquire
knowledge and information (Keefe Copeland, 2011). Literacy can be understood through various
theoretical lenses. Keefe Copeland also highlight five principles we must keep in mind when thinking
about literacy (2011). Firstly, all people are capable of acquiring literacy, however methods of
acquiring literacy vary greatly. Literacy is also a human right, given its ability to shape human
experience Literacy also serves as a crucial empowerment tool. Social interaction also contributes to
literacy; it is developed through human ability to build relationships. Lastly, literacy is not the
responsibility of an individual alone. Community, and human interaction nurture literacy as well.
All clients possess a degree of health literacy, and like literacy, it is a human right. It is a client s
ability to understand written, spoken or numerical information, and make health care related decisions
based on the information (Eadie, 2014). A client s health literacy also has a social component, often
being influenced by their socioeconomic status, immigration status and language

How Does Body Art Affect Our Society
Tattoos. Piercings. Colored hair. From the Bronze Age to Egypt, Japan, China, and other countries the
appearance of body art has spread and has found its way throughout the world; brought to society
today from culture, symbolism, and religion in ancient times. Many difficulties reside around the
looks they give off in a place of professionalism. Though in modern day society body art is becoming
more popular and uprising controversy of their presence in a workplace is becoming more of a
problem. Body art is a beautiful way to express yourself and if people with it cannot show it off
without consequences towards their careers is disappointing. A new law needs to be formed to protect
those who have them from getting discriminated against or fired. For the younger generations are
becoming more fond and interested in body art, while the older generations disapprove this uproar.
Within the younger generation known as the Millennials, early 1980s to early 2000s, are developing
our society into one where body art is becoming accepted. The Journal of the American Academy of
Dermatology published data showing that in 2006 approximately 24 percent of Americans had a form
of body art when back in 1976 it was only around one percent (Cooke). Also from 2007 to 2012 the
number of people that had two or more tattoos increased, which would make it 13 percent more
popular (Tattoos in the Workplace Statistics). So with body art on the rise and it becoming the new
grind, why is it not

Zara
Zara is an international retailer that is continuously growing in popularity due to the store s trend
sensitive and affordable styles. Inditex, Zara s distribution group, is one of Spain s greatest successes
in that they have dominated the global market. Their unique business model and marketing tactics
have a lot to do with this company s worldwide success. This retailer exhibits a creative and eco
friendly business plan that integrates design, just in time production, marketing and sales. With a
vertically integrated supply chain system, Zara controls product design, development, manufacturing,
selling and distribution to retailers, product service and advertising. ... Show more content on

Their method is to have a limited amount of merchandise within the stores and replenish with new
styles and trends quickly so that nothing is sitting on the floor for too long, therefore having a speedy
product life cycle. Shoppers always have new products to choose from and that keeps the sales in
stores flowing.
Zara s vertically integrated supply chain management has had a great advantage on this retailer s sales.
The risk that other retailers take with trying to predict fashion trends a year in advance is eliminated
for Zara. Due to the store s rapid restocks of new designs every two weeks, customers are introduced
to the latest fashion trends. This is a trait that puts Zara above its competitors such as H M and Gap.
Zara possesses a very wide ranging merchandise assortment sold in stores but produce a low quantity
of garments so if an item does not sell as well as they had hoped, they wont lose as much revenue as
there is not as much stock to be discounted. This also allows Zara to react quickly and analyze a fast
response should the market change rapidly.
Beginning with basic fabric dyeing, nearly all of Zara s garments form in a design and manufacturing
center in La Coruna, with most of the sewing done by seamstresses from 400 local co operatives.
Designers collaborate with store managers regularly to determine which items are in high demand and
which items can be

Critical Analysis Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find By...
Flannery O Connor was often shocked to find how people interpreted her stories. Some readers of A
Good Man is Hard to Find believed the grandmother was evil, even a witch. Soon O Connor set out,
quite explicitly, in letters and lectures to detail the theology of the story and the importance of the
grandmother as an agent of grace. In a letter to John Hawkes, she explained how violence and grace
come together: More than in the Devil I am interested in the indication of Grace, the moment when
you know that Grace has been offered and accepted such as the moment when the Grandmother
realizes the Misfit is one of her own children. These moments are prepared for (by me anyway) by the
intensity of the evil circumstances. When O Connor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Generally O Connor chalked up all the misreadings and confusion to the spiritual shortcomings of the
modern reader: Today s audience is one in which religious feeling has become, if not atrophied, at
least vaporous and sentimental. But the discrepancies between how O Connor is often read and how
she claimed she should be read cannot simply be explained by her theology of grace or by the lack of
religious feeling among readers. Critical opinion over the years has tended to line up behind O Connor
s own explanations; however, O Connor s analysis of A Good Man Is Hard to Find still seems baffling
and occasionally a critic has questioned the theology of the fiction. Andre Bleikasten, focusing on O
Connor s novels, claimed that the truth of O Connor s work is the truth of her art, not that of her
church. Her fiction does refer to an implicit theology, but if we rely, as we should, on its testimony
rather than on the author s comments, we shall have to admit that the Catholic orthodoxy of her work
is at least debatable And Frederick Asals recalls D. H. Lawrence s advice that a reader should trust the
tale and not the teller. Of A Good Man Is Hard to Find, Asals claims: BLOCK QUOTE One can easily
pass over her [O Connor s] hope that the grandmother s final gesture to The Misfit

Racial Profiling And The American Civil Liberties Union
Racial profiling can hold a variety of meanings. As defined by the American Civil Liberties Union,
however, racial profiling is the discriminatory practice by law enforcement officials of targeting
individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual s race, ethnicity, religion or national origin (
Racial Profiling ). Every day, blacks are stopped much more frequently for aimless searches and minor
infractions than their white counterparts. Several African Americans share experiences like these, such
as Roscoe Van Pelt, who was violently snatched off the street and crammed into a squad car after the
ludicrous crime of jaywalking (Walsh). A more extreme example would be the case of Sandra Bland,
who was brutally beaten following failure to signal a lane change (Schuppe). Incidents like these
occur far too frequently in black communities, all for the color of their skin. The practices of police
can best be explained in the elaboration of case probability versus class probability. Case probability is
when police take specific evidence with concrete proof in regards to the victim of a crime to accuse
one of a crime. Class probability, however, is when police generalize normal committers of the
specific crime to accuse one for it. For example, if police aimed to prosecute a seller of marijuana and
Hispanics were typically known to commit such a crime, class probability would be integrated into
case investigation if police searched every Hispanic on site for the

My Favorite Hymn is In Christ Alone
My favorite hymn is In Christ Alone. By most standards it is a modern hymn. While many Christian
hymns date back to the early church, the two songwriters of In Christ Alone began work in 2000 and
completed their work two years later. Although it lacks historical prestige, this hymn s grandeur,
strong lyrics and musical melody elevate it to a status often only given the ancient songs. In Christ
alone is undoubtedly a very influential hymn to many in my generation. So, because of its personal
impact on my life I have chosen to name it my favorite hymn. In the autumn of 2000, songwriter Keith
Getty (Irish) and musician Stuart Townend (English) met at a worship event in England. The two soon
became good friends and began to write traditional hymns together. Their work includes How Deep
the Father s Love, My First Love, and The King of Love. However their most famous hymn by far is
In Christ Alone. The hymn s writer Stuart Townend wanted to express the theme of the life, death and
resurrection of Christ and His ultimate sufficiency (Townend). Once released, In Christ Alone did just
that, gaining immediate popularity among traditional Christian music purists as well as fans of more
contemporary Christian music. In 2003, a contemporary Christian group, The Newsboys, released a
version of In Christ Alone in their album Adoration: The Worship Album that topped the Christian
Music charts in the United States. Christian groups Phillips, Craig, and Dean, and Avalon

which managers and employees work together to plan, monitor and review an employee s work
objectives and overall contribution to the organization. Value creation is the primary aim of any
business entity. Creating value for customers helps sell products and services, while creating value for
shareholders. The two tie together because the company wants to improve on their internal processes
and that includes having products or services that customers will buy and use and that is the ultimate

American Me Jenna Character Analysis
American Me (1992) is a biographical drama directed and acted by Edward James Olmos. Olmos
main character, Santana, is a Chicano from East Los Angeles (L.A.), who at an early age was
introduced to the U.S. penal system and grew to become a leader of the Mexican Mafia prison gang,
La Eme. Within the belly of the U.S. penal system the young Santana learns that respect is gained
through acts of violence. To be considered with respect is the ultimate achievement in Santana s
environments/ home in East L.A. and in prison. Young Santana and two of his childhood friends, J.D.
and Mundo, form their own gang one evening. They decide to test their strength as a unit by walking
through a rival gang s territory, where they are chased. The three ... Show more content on

The first evening in Juvenile hall, young Santana is held down and raped by a fellow inmate. Rather
than remain docile and accept repeat violation or the threat of death, Santana responds by killing the
rapist with his own shank. Santana s action is met with approval from his peers. This is Santana s first
experience earning respect . The punishment of an extended sentence was of little consequence
compared to the respect young Santa earned from this act of violence. Santana has resolved that he
found the answer (Olmos, 1992). He is conditioned at an early age that violence in the guise of respect
is an approved response to opposition or assault. Respect ensures insulation from acts of violence
from others, garners familial relationships, and provides opportunity to gain power and wealth. As
Santana matures and La Eme grows in power, so too do the acts of violence necessary to maintain the
respect of rival gangs and the members of his own gang. Weakness or an action that could be
perceived as weak by a member of La Eme was intolerable, typically ending in their

Emotional Infidelity And Gender Analysis
Over the course of evolution, men and women have developed different emotional responses to
unfaithfulness in relationships. Since men often have less parental investment and are more concerned
about reproduction itself and the passing of genes, they won t be as emotionally upset due to infidelity,
but rather would be sexually jealous if their partner was cheating. On the other hand, women tend to
be more involved in parenting, thus making it more difficult to raise offspring without their male
counterpart, making them more emotionally offended when their partner cheats. (Buss, Larsen,
Westen Semmelroth, 1992). The degree to which different ranges of emotions occur in men versus
woman have also been studied. Previous research indicates that ... Show more content on

Running this study again with a larger group would likely lead to more accurate assessment.
Additionally, the overall lack of racial diversity in the sample may have adjusted the data since it is
likely that a large proportion of the participants were raised with similar values and perceptions of
emotional and sexual relationships. This issue may be attested to the fact that the overall composition
of the student body at this college lacks significant diversity; this particular sample of students was
fairly proportional to the population of the college as a whole. Finally, the methods used in no way
distinguished for different sexual orientations within the two genders. How infidelity is viewed among
heterosexuals versus other sexual orientations certainly may differ from each other and could be an
interesting idea to pursue in future

Feature Integration Theory Essay
The Feature Integration Theory (Treisman Gelade, 1980) links pre attention and attention together and
tries to explain why pop out effects occur and how conjunction searches work. It states that features of
an object (for example, colour and texture) are pre attentionally coded in parallel, which explains why
the pop out effect exists. The object s features are then combined through attention to form the whole
object, which is why conjunction searches take longer to complete as you have to look for a number of
features that combine together to make what you are looking for. Support for the Feature Integration
Theory comes from Bravo Nakayama (1992) who found that as the number of distractor items
increased in a visual search task, reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They presented shapes to their participants very quickly, almost so they could not see them and then
asked which of three stimuli were presented to them. Many participants reported not seeing anything
but their rate of correct answers was above chance level. This implies that the stimuli were processed
pre attentionally as the participants had no explicit recollection of seeing the stimuli and therefore did
not pay attention to it. However, a criticism of this study is that it was conducted 80 years ago, which
would mean that their equipment is not to the same standard as modern studies. This could have led to
methodological problems including whether they presented each stimulus for the same length of time
in every condition and to every participant. Further support for the pre attentional approach of object
recognition comes from Sperling (1960). They presented 12 letters (4x3 grid) for a short period of
time and asked participants to recall as many as possible. The average response was 4 5 correct letters.
However, when participants associated a line of letters with a tone (high, medium or low) and were
then asked to recall the letters from either of those lines, they were largely able to remember all of the
letters from that row implying that they had the ability to recall around 9 of the letters in total. This
suggests that the letters were processed pre attentionally as the participants were unaware that they
had remembered them. A criticism of this study is that it focuses on memory more than

Thesis On Honesty
Honesty can be defined as a facet of the moral character that conveys virtuous and positive attributes
including truthfulness, integrity, and straightforwardness of the conduct. The word honesty also refers
to the absence of cheating, theft, and lying. It also means to be sincere, fair and loyal to others.
Overall, it can be stated that honesty is a positive characteristic and attribute of an individual that
affects other in a positive manner. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the word honesty. This paper
will also discuss different perspectives of this word. This paper will also discuss my personal opinion
about the word honesty.

Almost all religions of the world promote and encourage honesty. Since the purpose of this paper is
not to discuss this paper with regard to religious types, therefore, it is just to mention here that all
religions of the world encourage honesty in all affairs of life. If one person behaves and acts in an
honest manner, then he will ultimately be rewarded either in a direct way or some indirect way. The
individual will get benefit by adopting the characteristic of honesty.
If one person is not honest, then he may have to speak several lies throughout his life. He will have to
speak lies in order to hide other lies. As a result, the chain of lies will continue that will ultimately
result in personal as well as a religious loss for the individual. Similarly, if an individual speaks the
truth and does not lie with others, then he will be rewarded in either way. Therefore, it can be said that
the people should not lie with others.
One part of honesty means to act in a certain way towards other. However, another part of the
definition of honesty means to treat others in a way you expect others to treat you. Similarly, this
definition of honesty means to be honest with yourself. If you consider yourself in a situation while
treating other, then it is more likely to be treated in a more lively, ethical and honest

The Harmonicus Culture of Hong Kong
What place has the best harmony of the east and the west in the world do you think? The Middle East?
Southeast Asia? or China town in the US? I think Hong Kong has the best harmonious culture in the
world because it was a part of England and China, and many people from Hong Kong can speak
English and Chinese. Even until now, China is not much open as many other liberal economy
countries, but Hong Kong is. According to Milton Friedman who is one of the famous economies in
the world, and who were awarded the Novel Prize in Economic Sciences, Hong Kong is a good
example of the free market system. Therefore, Hong Kong has been influenced many different
cultures, and it becomes one of the harmoniest countries in the world. It became independent from
England, but it has not been included China yet, so it has very distinctive culture. It was established in
July 1st 1997 and would be a part of China 50 years after 1997 (Hong Kong Basic Law). Hong Kong
rapidly developed social systems and economy in 1980. Therefore, there are many similarities and
differences between 1980 and now. First, old Hong Kong and now Hong Kong have similarities in
culture, especially movie industry. Hong Kong is one of the most famous movie stars home town such
as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Sammo Hung. In fact, Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, and he
lived and went to school in the US, but he went Hong Kong when he was 3 year old baby and grew up

My Memorable Experience
I love learning in school. But sadly, I ended up having a rough time at the end of my senior year. I
moved to Oklahoma from Illinois before I finished the last year of high school, and after I move it was
hard to get adjusted to a new school. I hope you enjoy my essay!
Let s start off with the pleasant experience I had in my past education, health careers. I was really
good in this class. Health careers was a class that taught me about diseases, CPR, and much more. We
had many projects and activities. One of the projects I remember I did and felt so proud of. It was the
kidney I sculpted. My teacher gave me an A+ for putting a lot of effort into it. My teacher loved it to
the part she asked me if she can keep it as a reference for future students. It made me really happy and
of course, I said yes, what an honor for me that she is going to use my work as a good example for
future students.
My unpleasant experience was a history class. I m not really a history person, but I worked so hard to
pass the class. I had a lot of problems going in front of my class and presenting the projects the
teachers assigned to us during class. I am really a shy person, and when I am in front of many people I
get really stressed out and I start to mess up on words and talk differently. But thanks to my husband
he was able to help me raise my confidence and break this habit, now I can to hold a conversation with
people without stressing out. I ended up passing the class with a C, I worked so

Bo Jackson Obstacles
Some of the most successful people of all time have had to overcome a plethora of difficulties
throughout their life to achieve their goals. A few examples of people who demonstrate this include
Thomas Edison, Bo Jackson, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Thomas Edison came up from nearly
nothing and was able to create over one thousand patents. Bo Jackson had a very tough childhood and
a lot of injuries in his professional baseball and football careers. Ludwig van Beethoven was told that
he would never be a great composer but managed to compose an astounding number of influential
works, some while completely deaf. Without an enormous amount of determination, none of these
people would have been able to achieve the success that they did. Determination is the most important
character trait necessary to overcome obstacles because when people never give up and are fully
determined, it is much harder to stop them from excelling at whatever they are attempting to do. ...

a storage battery, he remarked, Well at least we know 8,000 things that don t work! (Edison). This

Ultrasonic sensors detect over long ranges up to forty feet, while limit switches and inductive sensors
do not.
Broad area detection: While some photo electric sensors can detect over long distances they lack the
ability to detect over a wide area without using a large number of sensors. The advantage of Migatron
s ultrasonic sensors is that both wide and narrow areas can be covered. All it takes is the proper
ultrasonic transducer selection. Widest range of target materials:Only ultrasonic sensors are
impervious to target material composition. The target material can be clear, solid, liquid, porous, soft,
wood and any color because all can be detected.
Non contact distance measuring: Because sound can be timed from when it leaves the transducer to
when it returns, distance measuring is easy and accurate to .05% of range which equates to +or .002 of

Augustine Of Hippo And Wolfgang Iser
Meaning is not created in one single time frame, it develops and evolves over time. Representation
refers to the essential part of the process by which meaning is produced and exchanged between
members in a culture (Hall 15). Theorists such as Augustine of Hippo, Jaques Lacan, Northrop Frye,
Roland Barthes, and Wolfgang Iser all have diverging opinions on the topic of representation due to
the evidently contrasting themes that they presented in each of their works. From the time of the third
century up until the more recent twentieth century, each of the listed theorists came to differrnt
conclusions about the representation due to the culture by which they were surrounded, and the
meaning that they were attempting to present. Despite differing ... Show more content on

Inspiration for his analysis came from his formative years by phenomenological and psychoanalytic
reformulations of psychiatric practice that began to criticize the constitutional model of the causation
of mental disorders dominant during that period (Groden 573). Michael Groden also states that
inspiration for Lacan s works came from the hysteria and paranoia of society on the issue of delirious
subjects (573). While Lacan was heavily inspired by the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud,
Lacan also greatly contributed to the field of literary theory and criticism specifically in his
speculations on language, the subject, sexual difference, ethics, and the unconscious (Groden 573). In
his text, Lacan s focus is on the connection between the structure of language of the unconscious with
the formula that defines the sign (Baggett lecture). Ferdinand Saussure, the originator of
Structuralism, theorizes that the signifier is just the sound image or a mental image that comes to
mind, while

The Severing Nature Of Sin In Jenson s View Of God
Like any relationship, the relationship between God and his people requires input from both parties.
One of the ways to positively engage in the relationship is through prayer, however, one of the ways to
both actively and negatively engage in this relationship is through sin. Many historical and social
developments have shifted sin into the realm of ethics, however, for Jenson, it is a theological concept.
It is a theological concept in the sense that it relates to the active relationship between man and God,
which stems precisely from being made in the image of God. As a result, sin is what breaks up this
active relationship and community that God has established. Jenson achieves this conception of sin by
once again analyzing God s identity in scripture, specifically his active ... Show more content on

Sin is not only the rejection of one s relationship with god, but a rejection of one s relationship to other
human beings as well. The aforementioned good moral life is not an individual goal that is separate
from God or other human beings, it is a collective goal that forms a community that this sin destroys.
The severing nature of sin stems directly from the story of Adam and Eve: their betrayal of God
through manifests itself in original sin and relationship severing consequences, there is a division
between humans, in which the woman is directed to be ruled by the husband, and a division between
man and God, in which the people are banished from the garden of Eden and its many blessings.
However, sin is only a rupture, not a complete dissolution, of one s relationship with God and thus, it
is mendable and redeemable. Jenson states that what reunites us with God is not any of our particular
works or actions, rather what unites us with God is our trust in what happens in Christ. It is precisely
this faith and only this faith, this trust, that touches our lives to the divine drama (Jenson

The Manhunt For Christopher Cortez

Dorner and Cortez are victims as much as they are criminals because of the choices they have made
and the things they have done. They have both made bad decisions that has led them to where they are
now.
Dorner got called many rude names for being a black person, he suffered all through his childhood and
most of his adulthood. In the Manhunt for Christopher Dorner, chapter 2, it states, In first grade at
Norwalk Christian School, he wrote, the principal swatted him for punching a student who had taunted
him with a racial slur. The swattings from authority figures continued through junior high, he claimed,
when he dared to stand up to bigots. Throughout his life, there were many things said to him that he
didn t like, even when he arrived at the LAPD. In chapter 3, it states, When he arrived at the LAPD, he
wrote, he found it a nest of racists. In the Police Academy, he complained about another recruit s use
of a racial slur and was shunned. Although, Cortez was a Mexican, he also had racist stuff said against
him because of his race. In Applebee (707), it states, And as he drove off the American said, Now isn t

Essay about Arthurian Features in That Hideous Strength
Arthurian Features in That Hideous Strength
Tales change with every teller. Features may be added or subtracted, stories may be broken apart or
combined. Often the story teller will adapt the tale for his own purposes to emphasize some theme of
his own. C. S. Lewis uses and modifies older sources in many ways in his novel That Hideous
Strength, incorporating themes and portions of Arthurian literature to add color and emphasize the
subjects of his plot.
Lewis includes many direct references to older Arthurian literature in his novel. The leader of his
group of heroes is the former philogist Ransom, at first known as Mr. Fisher King, who has a wounded
foot. The name and the wound are obvious reminders of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Cecil Dimble searches for Merlin in the woods, he recalls the ancient houses whose mortar had
been ritually mixed with babies blood (Lewis, p. 233), reminding readers about the early stories of
Vortigern s vanishing tower and the druids plot to destroy the young Merlin by having his blood
spread on the foundation. When Ransom s friendly bear, Mr. Bultitude, destroys the awful severed
head through which the leaders of the N.I.C.E. (National Institute of Controlled Experiments) receive
instructions from the evil eldils, or spirits, Lewis seems to be referring to Arthur s dream in Geoffrey s
Historia where a bear and a dragon fight together. There the bear is slain, but here he is victorious
against the supernatural beast he fights against.
Dreams have been important in much of Arthurian literature, from the Historia of Geoffrey of
Monmouth to Wace s Brut and the alliterative and stanzaic Morte Arthures. In those works, a vivid
dream came to Arthur at some crucial point or points, whether on the way to Gaul, in his camp at
Rome, or in England before his battle with Mordred. In That Hideous Strength, dreams appear not just
at important moments, but regularly. Jane Studdock discovers herself to be a seer, able to dream of
real events either happening or about to happen, and thus supplies important information to the
Pendragon and his companions. Her dreams are more realistic and informative than

visual appearance of both the riders and the bikes. The riders take on the appearance of a professional
road racer, along with that of skinny and scruffy kids. While the bicycles themselves can be brightly

Analysis Of Christopher ColumbusWhen Worlds Collide
When Worlds Collide
The title When Worlds Collide refers to the interaction between the Natives from the New World and
the explorers from the old world. Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer who was sponsored by
Spain, attempted to find a faster route to India. Columbus didn t find what he was looking for, and was
unaware that he had found a New World that pathed the way for exploration of the America s.
Columbus never found out what he had discovered, and died thinking he had found a route to India.
Columbus discovery would lead to the exploration of the new world and would force interaction
between the people of the old world and the natives of the new world. They would exchange things
like animals and food but would also exchange things like diseases that were detrimental to the native
population.
The natives changed the European diet with their introduction of tobacco, maize, beans, tomatoes, and
most of all the potato. These foods would revolutionize the diet of not only the Europeans, but the
entire world. In return for the natives contribution to the Europeans, Columbus would return with old
world goods such as cows, horses, and swine. They also brought foods like wheat, sugar, rice, and
coffee. Although many of the things brought over were beneficial, there were some bad things that
were traded. These things seemed to have the largest effect. People from the old world brought over
many diseases including, smallpox, measles, bubonic plague, influenza, typhus,

Gerard Egan
An Easy Introduction to Egan s Skilled Helper Solution Focused Counselling Approach By Patrick JM
Nelson Part One What is it? Gerard Egan s Skilled Helper Model of eclectically based counselling
provides a structured and solution focused basis for counsellors, psychotherapists and hypnotherapists.
It is a three stage model in which each state consists of specific skills that the therapist uses to help the
client move forwards. By mastering the process of using these basic skills in an appropriate manner
(often in a cyclical process of stage 1 2 3 evaluate 1 2 3 evaluate) the talking therapist may be able to
increase their efficiency and structure their work in a more logical way, thus helping clients in a more
consistent manner and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Verbal communication articulates the client s experiences, behaviours and feelings. The Skilled
Helper encourages the client to stick to the point (what is relevant), they are non judgemental and they
are Empathic rather than sympathetic. Appropriate Empathy is a state of human interaction in which
the helper enters and understands the client s perspective, whilst getting in touch with their thoughts
and feelings, however, in this the helper remains rational in their understanding of the client s situation
and reality. Unlike in some counselling approaches, although the Skilled Helper communicates
Empathy to the client as the basis of counselling, when appropriate they may also use challenging
skills with the client when particular and clearly harmful irrational statements or destructive patterns
etc keep resurfacing, however any challenging must be congruent with the maintenance of therapeutic
Rapport and Empathy because Empathy and Rapport provide the client with the warmth, comfort and
safety needed to facilitate effective positive change. Exploring Skills (Egan Stage I Introduction)
Exploring the client s Existing Situation The stage one skills of the Egan Helping Model are based
upon the exploration of the client s situation and they basically correlate with the Rogerian counselling
skills of the Person Centered Approach. The purpose of Stage I is to build a nonthreatening
counselling relationship and help the client explore

A Summary Of Hunting
Supporters of hunting state that most of the money earned from people coming in to hunt goes to local
communities, however those communities will almost never see any of it. Many local communities
hold charity or fundraising events by inviting hunters to come hunt because they spend thousands to
hunt one animal. For example, the Namibian government held on of these fundraisers, and allowed the
black rhino to be hunted. They then claimed that the money went to a conservation for black rhinos,
but the money was nowhere to be found. This is a clear statement for how the money really is going
rather than what supporters of hunting claim to be saying. According to an article written by Teresa
Telecky, she argues that even though lots of money is

Trauma In The Afghan Girl
Trauma is universal; life without both the exposure and reaction to catastrophe, suffering, or
hopelessness is alien to the human experience and stunts one s growth of understanding said
experience more fully, regardless of impact. The attitudes and behaviors that people carry with them
as expressions of either instinctual or cultural values, however, are integral to comprehending the
diverse mentalities and viewpoints of trauma victims. Indignation, paranoia, depression, antipathy,
ennui, and aimlessness can be functionally identical in most all human beings, but the subconscious
catharsis of that awesomely mixed cascade of emotions resulting from trauma is a powerful indicator
of who exactly that person is and what they ve suffered. They aren t fuzz buried in the endless streams
of television static between doom laden news channels; they re a fierce piercing into the soul, the eyes
of the Afghan Girl.
In the article The Afghan Girl: A Life Revealed, Cathy Newman details the miraculous rediscovery by
photographer Steve McCurry of Sharbat Gula, the subject of McCurry s legendary National
Geographic portrait Afghan Girl. Newman describes the influences of Gula, her internal struggles with
confronting the horrors of the Soviet Occupation, the subsequent failures of rebuilding what was lost,
and the suffocation of fear and fury consuming her ordinary life, carrying the harrowing assumption
that everything will be for the worst and to hope is feign at best. As Pakistani

Tipping Point Chapter Summary
Introduction In The Tipping Point, Gladwell follows trends from their beginning to their end and he
tries to figure out why some ideas tip and others do not. Firstly, Gladwell gives the three rules for the
tipping point which are: contagiousness, the fact that little causes can have big effects, and
transformation happens in one moment. In the introductory chapter of the book, Gladwell uses the
syphilis epidemic of Baltimore, along with other outbreaks of disease, to illustrate his three rules. He
restates the three rules more simply as the law of few, the stickiness factor and the power of context.
Gladwell begins by discussing the incomprehensible recovery of then terminally uncool Hush Puppies
shoes amongst a few of hipsters in Manhattan s cutting edge regions in the 1990s, a development
which soon extended across the United States and lead to exponential increases in the company s
sales. Using this sensation as an introduction to the book s methodical theme, the author states that he
will recognize, dissect and give details on the mechanisms by which certain trends occur, while others
fail. Chapter 1: The Three Rules of Epidemics Gladwell declares that most trends, styles, and
occurrences are natural and spread according to paths of transmission and carriage that are patently
similar. In most of these consequences, whether the event in question is the spread of syphilis in
Baltimore s unpleasant streets or the unexpected spike in the acceptance of Hush Puppies sales,

  • 5. Alexander The Great Greek Crusader Alexander the Great embarked from Greece in 334 BC never to return to his homeland. He established an empire which not only spanned Europe and Asia but also united them. The extent to which Alexander s life agrees with the statement is dependent on the definitions of a Greek Crusader and Persian King . The Greeks (except Sparta) had abolished their kingdoms and replaced them with the democratic city states. Consequently, the concept of kings and what it meant to be Greek had become estranged with the result that Alexander may not have been able to embody this Greek culture as the King of Macedon. The definition of Crusader poses an issue; in hindsight its medieval connotations do not appear to be appropriate but the role Greek Crusader can be defined in this context as a pursuer of vengeance against the Persian sacrilege or as an advocator of Greek culture and religion through the use of force. The term Persian King could not only be interpreted to resemble their style of rule but also their customs and the favouring of the Asiatic peoples. The evolution of these roles in both the way they were viewed and the way they developed is essential in understanding how accurate the statement is. First of all, we must assess the extent to which Alexander was Greek. Alexander could trace his ancestry through his mother to both Helen of Troy and Achilles, relatives who would inspire his later actions. From a young age he was influenced by Hellenic culture; under the reign ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Health Literacy Paper An understanding of literacy, and health literacy is crucial to understand their impact on client health outcomes. Further, a nurse s ability to better educate clients lies in his or her understanding of these terms. Literacy is a multilayered, dynamic and complex topic; however, in short literacy is a set of skills including reading, writing oral skills, numeracy skills, and skills that enable us to acquire knowledge and information (Keefe Copeland, 2011). Literacy can be understood through various theoretical lenses. Keefe Copeland also highlight five principles we must keep in mind when thinking about literacy (2011). Firstly, all people are capable of acquiring literacy, however methods of acquiring literacy vary greatly. Literacy is also a human right, given its ability to shape human experience Literacy also serves as a crucial empowerment tool. Social interaction also contributes to literacy; it is developed through human ability to build relationships. Lastly, literacy is not the responsibility of an individual alone. Community, and human interaction nurture literacy as well. All clients possess a degree of health literacy, and like literacy, it is a human right. It is a client s ability to understand written, spoken or numerical information, and make health care related decisions based on the information (Eadie, 2014). A client s health literacy also has a social component, often being influenced by their socioeconomic status, immigration status and language ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. How Does Body Art Affect Our Society Tattoos. Piercings. Colored hair. From the Bronze Age to Egypt, Japan, China, and other countries the appearance of body art has spread and has found its way throughout the world; brought to society today from culture, symbolism, and religion in ancient times. Many difficulties reside around the looks they give off in a place of professionalism. Though in modern day society body art is becoming more popular and uprising controversy of their presence in a workplace is becoming more of a problem. Body art is a beautiful way to express yourself and if people with it cannot show it off without consequences towards their careers is disappointing. A new law needs to be formed to protect those who have them from getting discriminated against or fired. For the younger generations are becoming more fond and interested in body art, while the older generations disapprove this uproar. Within the younger generation known as the Millennials, early 1980s to early 2000s, are developing our society into one where body art is becoming accepted. The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology published data showing that in 2006 approximately 24 percent of Americans had a form of body art when back in 1976 it was only around one percent (Cooke). Also from 2007 to 2012 the number of people that had two or more tattoos increased, which would make it 13 percent more popular (Tattoos in the Workplace Statistics). Inditex, Zara s distribution group, is one of Spain s greatest successes in that they have dominated the global market. Their unique business model and marketing tactics have a lot to do with this company s worldwide success. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their method is to have a limited amount of merchandise within the stores and replenish with new styles and trends quickly so that nothing is sitting on the floor for too long, therefore having a speedy product life cycle. Shoppers always have new products to choose from and that keeps the sales in stores flowing. Zara s vertically integrated supply chain management has had a great advantage on this retailer s sales. The risk that other retailers take with trying to predict fashion trends a year in advance is eliminated for Zara. Due to the store s rapid restocks of new designs every two weeks, customers are introduced to the latest fashion trends. This is a trait that puts Zara above its competitors such as H M and Gap. Zara possesses a very wide ranging merchandise assortment sold in stores but produce a low quantity of garments so if an item does not sell as well as they had hoped, they wont lose as much revenue as there is not as much stock to be discounted. This also allows Zara to react quickly and analyze a fast response should the market change rapidly. Beginning with basic fabric dyeing, nearly all of Zara s garments form in a design and manufacturing center in La Coruna, with most of the sewing done by seamstresses from 400 local co operatives. Designers collaborate with store managers regularly to determine which items are in high demand and which items can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Critical Analysis Of A Good Man Is Hard To Find By... Flannery O Connor was often shocked to find how people interpreted her stories. Some readers of A Good Man is Hard to Find believed the grandmother was evil, even a witch. Soon O Connor set out, quite explicitly, in letters and lectures to detail the theology of the story and the importance of the grandmother as an agent of grace. In a letter to John Hawkes, she explained how violence and grace come together: More than in the Devil I am interested in the indication of Grace, the moment when you know that Grace has been offered and accepted such as the moment when the Grandmother realizes the Misfit is one of her own children. These moments are prepared for (by me anyway) by the intensity of the evil circumstances. When O Connor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally O Connor chalked up all the misreadings and confusion to the spiritual shortcomings of the modern reader: Today s audience is one in which religious feeling has become, if not atrophied, at least vaporous and sentimental. But the discrepancies between how O Connor is often read and how she claimed she should be read cannot simply be explained by her theology of grace or by the lack of religious feeling among readers. Critical opinion over the years has tended to line up behind O Connor s own explanations; however, O Connor s analysis of A Good Man Is Hard to Find still seems baffling and occasionally a critic has questioned the theology of the fiction. Andre Bleikasten, focusing on O Connor s novels, claimed that the truth of O Connor s work is the truth of her art, not that of her church. Her fiction does refer to an implicit theology, but if we rely, as we should, on its testimony rather than on the author s comments, we shall have to admit that the Catholic orthodoxy of her work is at least debatable And Frederick Asals recalls D. H. Lawrence s advice that a reader should trust the tale and not the teller. • 10. Racial Profiling And The American Civil Liberties Union Racial profiling can hold a variety of meanings. As defined by the American Civil Liberties Union, however, racial profiling is the discriminatory practice by law enforcement officials of targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual s race, ethnicity, religion or national origin ( Racial Profiling ). Every day, blacks are stopped much more frequently for aimless searches and minor infractions than their white counterparts. Several African Americans share experiences like these, such as Roscoe Van Pelt, who was violently snatched off the street and crammed into a squad car after the ludicrous crime of jaywalking (Walsh). A more extreme example would be the case of Sandra Bland, who was brutally beaten following failure to signal a lane change (Schuppe). Incidents like these occur far too frequently in black communities, all for the color of their skin. The practices of police can best be explained in the elaboration of case probability versus class probability. Case probability is when police take specific evidence with concrete proof in regards to the victim of a crime to accuse one of a crime. Class probability, however, is when police generalize normal committers of the specific crime to accuse one for it. For example, if police aimed to prosecute a seller of marijuana and Hispanics were typically known to commit such a crime, class probability would be integrated into case investigation if police searched every Hispanic on site for the ... • 11. My Favorite Hymn is In Christ Alone My favorite hymn is In Christ Alone. By most standards it is a modern hymn. While many Christian hymns date back to the early church, the two songwriters of In Christ Alone began work in 2000 and completed their work two years later. Although it lacks historical prestige, this hymn s grandeur, strong lyrics and musical melody elevate it to a status often only given the ancient songs. In Christ alone is undoubtedly a very influential hymn to many in my generation. So, because of its personal impact on my life I have chosen to name it my favorite hymn. In the autumn of 2000, songwriter Keith Getty (Irish) and musician Stuart Townend (English) met at a worship event in England. The two soon became good friends and began to write traditional hymns together. Their work includes How Deep the Father s Love, My First Love, and The King of Love. However their most famous hymn by far is In Christ Alone. The hymn s writer Stuart Townend wanted to express the theme of the life, death and resurrection of Christ and His ultimate sufficiency (Townend). Once released, In Christ Alone did just that, gaining immediate popularity among traditional Christian music purists as well as fans of more contemporary Christian music. In 2003, a contemporary Christian group, The Newsboys, released a version of In Christ Alone in their album Adoration: The Worship Album that topped the Christian Music charts in the United States. Olmos main character, Santana, is a Chicano from East Los Angeles (L.A.), who at an early age was introduced to the U.S. penal system and grew to become a leader of the Mexican Mafia prison gang, La Eme. Within the belly of the U.S. penal system the young Santana learns that respect is gained through acts of violence. To be considered with respect is the ultimate achievement in Santana s environments/ home in East L.A. and in prison. The first evening in Juvenile hall, young Santana is held down and raped by a fellow inmate. Rather than remain docile and accept repeat violation or the threat of death, Santana responds by killing the rapist with his own shank. Santana s action is met with approval from his peers. This is Santana s first experience earning respect . The punishment of an extended sentence was of little consequence compared to the respect young Santa earned from this act of violence. Santana has resolved that he found the answer (Olmos, 1992). He is conditioned at an early age that violence in the guise of respect is an approved response to opposition or assault. Respect ensures insulation from acts of violence from others, garners familial relationships, and provides opportunity to gain power and wealth. As Santana matures and La Eme grows in power, so too do the acts of violence necessary to maintain the respect of rival gangs and the members of his own gang. • 15. Emotional Infidelity And Gender Analysis Over the course of evolution, men and women have developed different emotional responses to unfaithfulness in relationships. Since men often have less parental investment and are more concerned about reproduction itself and the passing of genes, they won t be as emotionally upset due to infidelity, but rather would be sexually jealous if their partner was cheating. On the other hand, women tend to be more involved in parenting, thus making it more difficult to raise offspring without their male counterpart, making them more emotionally offended when their partner cheats. (Buss, Larsen, Westen Semmelroth, 1992). The degree to which different ranges of emotions occur in men versus woman have also been studied. Previous research indicates that ... • 16. Feature Integration Theory Essay The Feature Integration Theory (Treisman Gelade, 1980) links pre attention and attention together and tries to explain why pop out effects occur and how conjunction searches work. It states that features of an object (for example, colour and texture) are pre attentionally coded in parallel, which explains why the pop out effect exists. The object s features are then combined through attention to form the whole object, which is why conjunction searches take longer to complete as you have to look for a number of features that combine together to make what you are looking for. Support for the Feature Integration Theory comes from Bravo Nakayama (1992) who found that as the number of distractor items increased in a visual search task, reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They presented shapes to their participants very quickly, almost so they could not see them and then asked which of three stimuli were presented to them. Many participants reported not seeing anything but their rate of correct answers was above chance level. This implies that the stimuli were processed pre attentionally as the participants had no explicit recollection of seeing the stimuli and therefore did not pay attention to it. However, a criticism of this study is that it was conducted 80 years ago, which would mean that their equipment is not to the same standard as modern studies. This could have led to methodological problems including whether they presented each stimulus for the same length of time in every condition and to every participant. Further support for the pre attentional approach of object recognition comes from Sperling (1960). They presented 12 letters (4x3 grid) for a short period of time and asked participants to recall as many as possible. The average response was 4 5 correct letters. However, when participants associated a line of letters with a tone (high, medium or low) and were then asked to recall the letters from either of those lines, they were largely able to remember all of the letters from that row implying that they had the ability to recall around 9 of the letters in total. This suggests that the letters were processed pre attentionally as the participants were unaware that they had remembered them. A criticism of this study is that it focuses on memory more than ... Since the purpose of this paper is not to discuss this paper with regard to religious types, therefore, it is just to mention here that all religions of the world encourage honesty in all affairs of life. If one person behaves and acts in an honest manner, then he will ultimately be rewarded either in a direct way or some indirect way. The individual will get benefit by adopting the characteristic of honesty. If one person is not honest, then he may have to speak several lies throughout his life. He will have to speak lies in order to hide other lies. As a result, the chain of lies will continue that will ultimately result in personal as well as a religious loss for the individual. Similarly, if an individual speaks the truth and does not lie with others, then he will be rewarded in either way. Therefore, it can be said that the people should not lie with others. One part of honesty means to act in a certain way towards other. However, another part of the definition of honesty means to treat others in a way you expect others to treat you. • 18. The Harmonicus Culture of Hong Kong What place has the best harmony of the east and the west in the world do you think? The Middle East? Southeast Asia? or China town in the US? I think Hong Kong has the best harmonious culture in the world because it was a part of England and China, and many people from Hong Kong can speak English and Chinese. Even until now, China is not much open as many other liberal economy countries, but Hong Kong is. According to Milton Friedman who is one of the famous economies in the world, and who were awarded the Novel Prize in Economic Sciences, Hong Kong is a good example of the free market system. Therefore, Hong Kong has been influenced many different cultures, and it becomes one of the harmoniest countries in the world. It became independent from England, but it has not been included China yet, so it has very distinctive culture. It was established in July 1st 1997 and would be a part of China 50 years after 1997 (Hong Kong Basic Law). Hong Kong rapidly developed social systems and economy in 1980. Therefore, there are many similarities and differences between 1980 and now. First, old Hong Kong and now Hong Kong have similarities in culture, especially movie industry. Hong Kong is one of the most famous movie stars home town such as Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, and Sammo Hung. In fact, Bruce Lee was born in San Francisco, and he lived and went to school in the US, but he went Hong Kong when he was 3 year old baby and grew up in Hong Kong. I moved to Oklahoma from Illinois before I finished the last year of high school, and after I move it was hard to get adjusted to a new school. I hope you enjoy my essay! Let s start off with the pleasant experience I had in my past education, health careers. I was really good in this class. Health careers was a class that taught me about diseases, CPR, and much more. We had many projects and activities. One of the projects I remember I did and felt so proud of. It was the kidney I sculpted. My teacher gave me an A+ for putting a lot of effort into it. My teacher loved it to the part she asked me if she can keep it as a reference for future students. It made me really happy and of course, I said yes, what an honor for me that she is going to use my work as a good example for future students. My unpleasant experience was a history class. I m not really a history person, but I worked so hard to pass the class. I had a lot of problems going in front of my class and presenting the projects the teachers assigned to us during class. I am really a shy person, and when I am in front of many people I get really stressed out and I start to mess up on words and talk differently. But thanks to my husband he was able to help me raise my confidence and break this habit, now I can to hold a conversation with people without stressing out. A few examples of people who demonstrate this include Thomas Edison, Bo Jackson, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Thomas Edison came up from nearly nothing and was able to create over one thousand patents. Bo Jackson had a very tough childhood and a lot of injuries in his professional baseball and football careers. Ludwig van Beethoven was told that he would never be a great composer but managed to compose an astounding number of influential works, some while completely deaf. Without an enormous amount of determination, none of these people would have been able to achieve the success that they did. Representation refers to the essential part of the process by which meaning is produced and exchanged between members in a culture (Hall 15). While Lacan was heavily inspired by the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, Lacan also greatly contributed to the field of literary theory and criticism specifically in his speculations on language, the subject, sexual difference, ethics, and the unconscious (Groden 573). One of the ways to positively engage in the relationship is through prayer, however, one of the ways to both actively and negatively engage in this relationship is through sin. Many historical and social developments have shifted sin into the realm of ethics, however, for Jenson, it is a theological concept. It is a theological concept in the sense that it relates to the active relationship between man and God, which stems precisely from being made in the image of God. As a result, sin is what breaks up this active relationship and community that God has established. Jenson achieves this conception of sin by once again analyzing God s identity in scripture, specifically his active ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sin is not only the rejection of one s relationship with god, but a rejection of one s relationship to other human beings as well. The aforementioned good moral life is not an individual goal that is separate from God or other human beings, it is a collective goal that forms a community that this sin destroys. The severing nature of sin stems directly from the story of Adam and Eve: their betrayal of God through manifests itself in original sin and relationship severing consequences, there is a division between humans, in which the woman is directed to be ruled by the husband, and a division between man and God, in which the people are banished from the garden of Eden and its many blessings. However, sin is only a rupture, not a complete dissolution, of one s relationship with God and thus, it is mendable and redeemable. Jenson states that what reunites us with God is not any of our particular works or actions, rather what unites us with God is our trust in what happens in Christ. When Ransom s friendly bear, Mr. Bultitude, destroys the awful severed head through which the leaders of the N.I.C.E. • 35. Tipping Point Chapter Summary Introduction In The Tipping Point, Gladwell follows trends from their beginning to their end and he tries to figure out why some ideas tip and others do not. Firstly, Gladwell gives the three rules for the tipping point which are: contagiousness, the fact that little causes can have big effects, and transformation happens in one moment. In the introductory chapter of the book, Gladwell uses the syphilis epidemic of Baltimore, along with other outbreaks of disease, to illustrate his three rules. He restates the three rules more simply as the law of few, the stickiness factor and the power of context. Gladwell begins by discussing the incomprehensible recovery of then terminally uncool Hush Puppies shoes amongst a few of hipsters in Manhattan s cutting edge regions in the 1990s, a development which soon extended across the United States and lead to exponential increases in the company s sales. Using this sensation as an introduction to the book s methodical theme, the author states that he will recognize, dissect and give details on the mechanisms by which certain trends occur, while others fail. Chapter 1: The Three Rules of Epidemics Gladwell declares that most trends, styles, and occurrences are natural and spread according to paths of transmission and carriage that are patently similar. In most of these consequences, whether the event in question is the spread of syphilis in Baltimore s unpleasant streets or the unexpected spike in the acceptance of Hush Puppies sales, ...
