Sugarlands Visitor Center Essay
Day 1 Sugarlands Visitor Center, Elkmont Campground, Abrams Trail, and Abrams Falls First, I
watched a twenty minute documentary film about the history of the mountains including wildlife
and nature that I might encounter, plus activities that are offered in the park. Next, I browsed the
interactive museum that had stunning authentic wildlife displays, with native plants. Ranger Sam
answered my questions, advised me on wildlife sightings, and offered valuable suggestions on
places to visit within the park. The bookstore displayed interesting books, maps, badges, post
cards, and had a variety of gifts. The Sugarlands Visitor Center offers a wealth of information,
leaving you with a passion to explore all the park s mountainous terrain.... Show more content on

Entering at Cades Cove, I hiked down the narrow muddy trail through the forest listening for the
sounds of rushing water. The cold crystal clear water flowed effortlessly over the smooth rocks
and the air was quite refreshing. Carefully, I made my way down stream watching my footing,
while admiring the spectacular scenery. The remoteness of the area provided solitude and the
quiet stillness was relaxing. As the sun beamed overhead, I caught a glimpse of a large dark fish
with a light yellow back and light spots, a brook trout. Moving about I cast my line in the
distance and was patient as the brilliant rainbow trout with it silvery sides, bluish green backs,
black spots, and bright pink bands shined in the sun s rays. I lost track of time in the peaceful
environment, and after several hours, I had my quota of five trout over seven inches, a successful
day for any angler. Then, I headed to the campsite to freshen up and then hurried off for horseback
riding at Sugarland Riding

Analysis Of Bosses Seek Critical Thinking
In 1989 1995, my father took a job as a manager of the newspaper Marin Independent Journal
company called Gannett. His job required him to have bouts of experience and to be able to
solve problems quickly. When a carrier didn t show up, he needed to quickly come up with a
solution to get the mail out. Another problem he faced was how some people s mail were stolen.
His own experience with these issues and critical thinking is what helped him become manager
for almost four years. In her article, Bosses Seek Critical Thinking , but what is that , Melissa
Korn claims that qualities like critical thinking and problem solving are major assets that young
workers may lack. As she explains, critical thinking is something that is hard to describe and can
have many different ways of wording it. That, in turn makes it difficult for employers to set this
bar. Korn continues to give multiple types of definitions of critical thinking to show exactly how
the definitions can differ. She then adds that an incorporation has their candidates work through
company assessments to see how they reach their conclusions. This lets them see if their workers
are qualified. Korn then proceeds to bring Jerry Houser s opinion on how schools are encouraging
students to focus too much on their social lives. Upon reading Korn s article, i ve found that
although many parts are agreeable, such as when she talks about how difficult it is to actually
describe and prescribe critical thinking, other parts like

Making Preservation Possible For City Skylines
Devon O Geary Mrs. Hinner LNG 341 11 November 2015 Making Preservation Possible City
skylines can be easily recognized for their unique architectural features, such as sharply pointed
steeples, dramatic heights, and distinctively shaped buildings. In the United States, the skylines
of New York, Chicago, and Seattle show familiar features, such as the Empire State Building, the
Sears Tower, and the Space Needle respectively. Buildings in Charleston, South Carolina, and
Savannah, Georgia are also acclaimed for their quaint style and Southern Charm. Many of these
notable architectural works of art, referred to generally as historic buildings or historic structures,
would cease to exist without the hard work of preservation societies. These societies, as well as
the notable architecture they preserve, provide educational lessons outside of the traditional
classroom for today s youth. For these reasons, the nation s historic buildings need to be preserved
and restored to their original glory. More state and city governments should follow the federal
government s lead and provide tax incentives to encourage builders to remodel, and thus preserve
historic buildings, preventing the demolition of iconic landmarks. A historic building is any place
with historical context. The word historic is defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary as famous or
important in history; having great and lasting importance; or happening or existing in the past,
(Merriam Webster). Chris Morris of

Fathers Should Get Paid Paternity Leave
Fathers are just as important as mothers to bond with their children. So, should they receive paid
paternity leave? Paternity leave is when a father takes time off to bond, help out, and adjust to the
new day to day life having a new addition to the family. Some people haven t heard the term,
paternity leave, and assumes you re talking about maternityleave; which is when the motheris
recuperating and caring for her new child. It sounds nice when a father takes time off to care for
their spouse and new born. Although, some men might find it more stressful to take time off
because they worry about their positioning and possible promotions in the future at work. All
fathers should receive paid paternityleave because it s beneficial in the workplace, more companies
and states will reconsider doing it, it s beneficial to the kids, and they become used to doing
more routine work around the house. One of the reasons that fathers should get paid paternity
leave is because it can be beneficial to the workplace. A lot of people wonder, how can someone
taking time off work actually help a company? We must realize, it s not an overnight benefit, it s a
benefit that will come over time in the long run after a bond has been created with the employee.
Covert says, People feel their company is committed to them in the long term, that their happiness
and wellbeing is prioritized over short term profit (Covert). When fathers receive paid paternity
leave, they feel like they can then

Examples Of Moral Dilemmas
2. What are values and norms and what is a moral dilemma?
To answer this question I will divide the question in three parts.
Starting with what values are. Values are an absolut or relative and ethic value of a person. Values
can be defined as a wide preference for specific actions.
The assumption of those can be a basic form for ethic handling.
A Valuesystem is a set of consistense values and measures. A principale value is a fundamental on
which values and measures of integrity are based.
Some values are physiologically determined and used usually for avoiding fysical pain or for
looking for fun. Other values are subjective, they are different for every individu or for different
religions. These values are more based on religion and their beliefs. Different values are ethical
/moral vales, ideological values, social values and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then the last part of this question, moral dilemmas. But what is a Moral dilemma?. A Moral
Dilemma is that two well known cases conflict with eachother. In each case you have moral
reasons to do each of the two actions, but it is not possible to do both. This is what you call moral
dilemmas.
What is really a common factor for moral dilemmas is, is that it is kind of required to do both
actions, in this situation you can choose one of them but you can t do both, so you start feeling
that you failed, because both actions are important for you. No matter which one you will choose
you always have the feeling that you failed or did something wrong. So to recap this all a Moral
Dillema is a Dillema between two factors/choices that are both important to you and whatever you
choose you will always think you made the wrong choice.

Dropout In The United States
Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school in the United States alone. That s a
student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day. 25% of high school freshmen fail to graduate from high
school on time. But this year, as I talked to my fellow seniors about their future plans, I never once
heard, I m not going to college. You see I live in a bubble: the typically white, conservative, well
educated town of Orchard Park, New York. Minority enrolled at my high schoolis 5%. Students
categorized as Economically Disadvantaged is 7%. The dropout rate is relatively obsolete.
Recently my school was designated a National Blue Ribbon School. But not every high school is
like this. Not every student my age has access to a quality education. Many of my peers, who have
just as much potential as I do, are disadvantaged because of the place they live or their background
they come from. The facts are that the United States is falling behind when it comes to education.
According to US Today, America is the 5th most educated country in the world. That seems
acceptable until you discern that the United States percent GDP spent on secondary education
(3.6%) is among the lowest of developed countries.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Indian Imperialism
Rudyard Kipling stated, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet (Velgen
240). One of the main questions posed by this novel, as asked by Mahmoud Ali and Hamidullah,
is whether or not it is possible to be friendly with the Englishmen. The book serves as an example
as to how difficult it might seem to achieve unity when there s diversity already present. This
question is answered through discovering the personal relationships among the main characters in
the novel and analyzing the effects of imperialism on the exploitation of those personal
relationships. Set in British colonial India, the novel explores cultural, religious, and political
barriers and the hostility between the subjects and the ruling class. India, a country already known
to be diverse within itself and containing innumerable groups formed by social hierarchy and
distinct traditions, was unaware of a society in which people of different backgrounds live in unity.
This book created much controversy because many critics believe that E.M. Forster, the author, was
being impartial to the Ango Indians and advocating more for the native Hindus.... Show more

Under The Black Flag , a book written by David Cordingly expressed the reality and myths
behind piracy. He clearly states in the introduction of the book that his aim is to examine the
popular image of pirates today, to find out where this image came from, and to compare it with
the real world of the pirates (Cordingly xiv). Along with his aim his thesis is also stated in the
introduction of his book, which essentially states that the views by everyday people of pirates
consists of a mixture of facts, and many other things such as romantic novels and films. He

Cordingly s book. This painting is from the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich depicts Anne

Safe haven laws allow the mother of a newborn infant the opportunity to surrender the child to

that there are safe places for new mothers to go when they know that they cannot care for an

The Romantic Works Of John Keats, Percy Shelley, And...
The romantic period, lasting from the late 18th to the early 19th century, followed the Age of
Reason. During this time people had an individualized, free, liberal, and imaginative attitude
towards life. Literature itself was full of introspection, emotion, passion, sublimity, beauty, and
spontaneity, with subjects such as humankind, the soul, flowers, the common people and more. Of
all of the Romantic values and subjects, the beauty, creativity, and morals of nature is what truly
inspired human imagination, and thus literature of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The
underlying theme of nature that is persistent through romantic poetry creates a bond between the
poet and the common man through short poems that express personal emotion that all can feel, as
we all are connected to nature. This can be seen through the works of John Keats, Percy Shelley,
and William Blake. Percy Shelley was a joyful and optimistic Romantic poet of the time who was
concerned with the beauty and passions of nature, creativity, and imagination. Nature is an ever
present theme in his poetry as he feels closely connected to nature s power. Ode to the West Wind
is one of his most notable poems, and one that truly exemplifies the idea of expressing personal
emotion and feeling by using metaphors from nature. He uses the west wind to symbolize the
power of nature and the imagination that was thus inspired by nature. It was almost even an agent
for change. In the poem, the wild West wind

Shared Reality: Not only did the medical community share a vision, they also shared data
through the Quality Health Network (QHN)2. They developed an IT system that is still in the

There is a common network that providers are able to log into and see other providers notes and
care plans. This sharing of information has decreased the performance of duplicate tests

will die in a minimum of 3 days. As for my thoughts on the matter, I believe the government needs
to start deregulating this industry. Many veteran drivers are in their retirement years and we will
need an influx of new drivers to take the helm. But unfortunately, many of these new drivers are
leaving the industry because they cannot handle the pressure put on them by the government. The
American highways are the safest they have ever been, so we need to stop thinking about how safe
we can make the roads, and start thinking about how we can keep these guys in the industry.

Tavi Gevinson s Ted Talk
What tools does Tavi use to help convey the message of her talk? Are these tools effective? From
start to finish Tavi Gevinson used a verity tools when giving her Ted Talk, A Teen Just Trying To
Figure It Out, which were a creative way in getting her thoughts and ideas across to the viewers.
One tool Tavi started using as soon as she stepped on stage was her voice. Tavi s voice is calm
and has much expression and depth which pulls the viewer in especially when she is talking about
something she is passionate about like feminism around women and teens. Her voice and how she
talks helps portray her confidence and passion she has on this topic. As well as informing everyone

Tavi uses many examples of television shows throughout her Ted Talk. Her discussion on these
television shows (like Girls, Freaks and Geeks, Mad Men, and so many more) help Tavi clearly get
her point across that these are the shows that have amazing female representation, female characters
that are three dimensional with flaws and everything. These examples help create a stronger
argument and clearly fight her thesis. Throughout Tavi s Ted Talk she has comedic moments which
help grasp the views attention, although the moments are comedic they still are as serious as her
other not so comedic moments. At the end of Gevinson s Ted Talk she tell the audiencethat
everyone should be Stevie Nicks. She does not say this just because she thinks Stevie Nicks is
super cool, she says this because of the way she holds herself. Stevie Nicks is empowering and a
strong female personality on and off stage and this is the whole point of Tavi s talk to let girls

Malathion Spray
Malathion spray being used for mosquitoes in our community isn t good for our health or the
environment. If you are exposed to the fumes of the spray it can cause you to get headaches,
muscle weakness, vomiting and other symptoms. It may work on the mosquitoes but is very
harmful to everyone else breathing it. You can also be affected from Malathionfrom drinking water
and food. It breaks down faster in water and will eventually go away. Our children stand a high risk
of catching symptoms from the spray. Our kids are always outside and if you have a truck rolling

Red Velvet Waffles Analysis
Spicy Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles with Spicy Butter Pecan Syrup
If I took one day longer to publish this recipe I know my followers would chew me out! I debuted
this Spicy Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles with Butter Pecan Syrup on my
Twitter last week and seemed to get pretty good engagement on the pictures. YAY! =) My taste

have a winner, guys! Who knows, I might actually sell this meal in my future restaurant.

I was thinking about making a spicy chocolate syrup to play off of the small amount of cocoa
powder in the red velvet waffles. I also thought the spicy chocolate syrup would work well with
the chicken because, mole. LOL, BUT I know most of my readers have probably never tried
chicken mole and would probably write me an email cussing me out for pairing chicken with
chocolate!
Anyway, I settled on making a spicy butter pecan syrup from scratch. Yes, my loves, we can
make syrup in our kitchens! Fear not, I promise it s not very labor intensive. I toasted my pecans
for a few minutes then I added them to the syrup (which is just sugar and water) then I added
some cayenne pepper, some chipotle powder, some bourbon and of course butter. This syrup is not
lacking in the spice department, it will rattle your taste buds. The heat won t overwhelm you so
there s no need to worry.

Background Summary:
Southwest airlines was founded in Texas in 1971 as a small, regional intra state carrier. They chose
to service the Golden Triangle of Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. By staying within Texan
borders, they could avoid federal regulations. They used Boeing 747 planes in their fleet. Since

They have been a multiple Triple Crown Winner in U.OT rankings. They have enjoyed thirty one
consecutive profitable years of business. They are dedicated to offering the highest quality of
customer service delivered with a sense of warmth, friendliness and individual price. They have
consistently high ratings with consumers. Southwest spends more money on employee training
than anyone else in the industry. They encourage their employees to interact with customers and to
think outside the box. They have a family friendly atmosphere that leads to high customer and
employee morale and low employee turnover. The shorter routes help Southwest Airlines maintain
better R.O.I. Their planes are in the air 12 hours per day vs. industry average of 8 hours per day.
Weaknesses: Southwest has been seeing a turnover of some of their key personnel, which is making
it difficult to maintain the corporate culture. There are labor challenges caused by increased
tensions between labor unions and management. Their current air traffic control system is based on
World War II technology using analog transmissions that cannot penetrate mountains, are impacted
by bad weather, and cannot reach across oceans. Their planes are now outdated. They have a huge
problem with mishandling bags over 400,000 of them in 2011. This cost them over $53 million.
The result is dissatisfied customers. Slower turnaround

Jewish Identity Birthright
I would emphasize Birthright s goal of exploring a person s Jewish identity, which doesn t
necessarily mean being religious at all. It is about finding what Judaism means to you, whether
that is culturally, spiritually, or even as simple as something that your ancestors took a part of. I
would also highlight the friendships you make with the people you meet and go on the trip with,
which last far beyond the experience. Not only is the trip practically free, it is a chance to explore
a part of a person s identity that links them to a broader community of amazing people that they

Analysis Of Van Gogh s Starry Night Sky
One of Vincent Van Gogh s most world renowned paintings is his landscape oil painting Starry
Night. The painting displays a small town underneath an unusual yet still extremely beautiful night
sky. In this night sky, Van Gogh utilizes an array of colors that blend well together in order to
enhance the sky as a whole. The town is clearly a small one due to the amount of buildings that are
present in the painting itself. In this small town most of the buildings have lights on which
symbolize life in a community. Another visual in Starry Night is the mountain like figures that
appear in the background of the illustrious painting. Several things contribute to the beauty of Van
Gogh s painting which are the painting s function, context, style, and design. Van Gogh s utilization
of these elements help bring further emphasis to his work in Starry Night.
Starry Night was painted by Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch painter who was well known for being an
impressionist during his time. Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853 in the Netherlands and died at
the age of 37 in France where he actually painted Starry Night while in the Hospital. Starry Night is
located in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City (Van Gogh Gallery). The main point of
emphasis in Starry Night is the relationships between a community, nature, and religion. Van Gogh
ties these three points of emphasis together in an exceptional manner in Starry Night. He compares
the community and nature by placing the town near an alluring

How Healthy Are The Youth Of Today s Population
How healthy are the youth of today s population? With the rise in childhood obesity, the lack of
prenatal care for expecting mothers, and lack of coverage for many Americans there is a need to
evaluate the health of our youth and the availability of services and education. The current youth
are the future workforce of the nation. Lessening the risk of chronic illness, obesity, and stabilizing
environmental conditions will allow the upcoming generation to help build a stronger economy. A
stronger workforce, a healthier society with less medical cost strain, and a healthier environment
are all gains to be had through improvements and healtheducation. Community outreach programs,
healthy lifestyles, and ensuring vaccine availability for all children are a few simple steps to
developing healthy generation. Per Maya Rossin Slater in her article Promoting Health in Early
Childhood, Children who are healthy early in life from conception to age five not only grow up to
be healthier adults, they are also better educated, earn more, and contribute more to the economy . It
is no secret that the current healthcare system in the United Stateslags in comparison to other
countries. America has the most expensive system and still the sickest population. We allocate
trillions of dollars to the health care services and only a fraction to population wide services. Just
as there is not an even distribution of funds in healthcare allocation, the same goes for childhood
health. There are

Entry Level Trading Essay
Let s tie these two strategies together In my opinion, the best entry level trades are identifying
and trading trend reversals. You ll want to use either a 1 minute or a 5 minute chart, and keep
your trades between 10 and 30 minute expiry times. (I generally use 5 minute charts when I

price structure. You should be able to identify the trend direction (up or down) of your asset.
What my typical trade setup can look like: В·I notice an upward (or downward) trend in previous

easier to use and is one of the very few binary options brokers I trust with my money. Since I m
open to new suggestions, I did stray to Goptions a couple months ago per a recommendation.
Goptions is pretty easy to use and has a sexy user interface, but I had a bad experience. My

ceased operations. To trade with IQOption, you only need a $10 deposit into your trading account
to get started. I would suggest at least $500 or more otherwise the Martingale strategy could be
rendered useless. If you have to employ the Martingale too many times too early, and you haven t
grown your account or deposited the perfect amount ($500 $2000), you run the risk of draining
your account before you finally hit that winning trade. A $500 deposit is the sweet spot.

a.Finance Co. has a security interest in the bikes
A security interest attaches when (1) there is an agreement, (2) Debtor grants a security interest
in movable property,(2) debtor had the rights in the property, (3) value is given and (4) there is
an authenticated security agreement that describes the collateral . (1) Here, financing had agreed
to grant working capitol to Mikes Bikes. (2) Mike s Bikes as owner of the bikes has rights in the
property. (3) Finance gave value when they granted Mikes Bikes $250,000 in working capitol. (4)
The agreement Finance sent to Mike s Bikes qualifies as a security agreement. This because it
grants a security interest in the bikes. It adequately describes the bikes as inventory. Even though
the fact pattern refers to it as personal property it is not because the property is held in the trade of
business. The bikes are inventory because they are held by the debtor for sale to consumers. The
security agreement is authenticated by the electronic signature of the debtor in the reply email. This
is because multiple documents that are attached to each other can qualify as a security agreement.
Finance s security interest would still attach to the bikes acquired after March 1, 2015 even though
there security agreement did not contain the terms or henceforth acquired. This is because it is
assumed that a secured party would understand that inventory would be sold and replenished and
would therefore, take a security

The Invention Of Harley Davidson Essay
In 1868, a man named Sylvester H. Roper invented the very first motorcycle. He lived in Roxbury,
Massachusetts. He came up with the idea of a twin cylinder steam velocipede with a cool fired
broiler between the wheels. When he came up with this idea, people thought that it was craziest
idea someone could come up. He went through with it anyways. His invention helped pave the way
for motorcycles today. Roper s inventions came to a screeching halt when he passed away
demonstrating one of his many inventions along with many other motorcycleinventors. Harley
Davidson came about in 1903. A lot of people were riding motorcycles instead of bicycles in
1902. He helped World War I by seeing increased interests in communications and getting place
to place. You rarely saw messengers on horseback anymore at that time. When World War II
happened, Harley Davidson s motorcycles skyrocketed up to 100mph. The only type of motor
he still uses is an air cooled v twin engine. Over the years his bikes have changed and developed

Cookmaid With Still Life Of Vegetables And Fruit
Fashion is a platform in which one can represent themselves. People are often characterized and
assessed based on what they wear and how they present their body to the world. This notion of
clothing not just being for function but also for expression dates back long before the modern
age. In the early seventeenth century, for example, an artists portrayal of apparel was used as a
symbol of wealth and status. The paintings Cookmaid with Still Life of Vegetables and Fruit
(Figure One), Probably Mary Lady Scudamore (Figure Two), and Dudley, the 3rd Baron North
(Figure Three) all depict people of different prosperity and backgrounds. The three subjects in the

The subject of the portrait, Dudley North, is pictured wearing a knee length rich black garment
fully embroidered in silver thread, paired with an extravagant set of shoes. He also dons a white
collar and cufflinks made of lace, paralleling those depicted in the portrait of Lady Scudamore.
The color and materiality of the attire convey the elite status of Dudley. The subject of the
painting was a principle courtier of James I, a role that placed him in the heart of clothing. The
court members developed into models for the noble style of dress, with royalty spending
thousands of pounds annually for their wardrobe. In the modern world, fashion is predominately a
female dominated industry. However, in the early seventeenth century, the dress of men was of
greater importance than that of woman, as aristocratic woman often lived privatized lives whereas
men were more exposed to society. The fit of the male outfit also held a high significance, just as it
did for the female. In the portrait, Dudley s waist is highlighted through the tight tailoring of the
costume, and is enhanced by the belt that clasps his sword. The male representation of fashion was
a symbol of aristocracy in seventeenth century England and was used in portraiture in order to
express one s wealth, as seen through the painting of Dudley

The Impact Of The Manchu Invasion Of China
One might wonder what life was like in China 300 years ago? Or even think about the aspects of
life just 100 years ago? Others ponder the history of China, and how the country came to be. The
Manchus, and their invasion of China played an enormous role in all of these thoughts. The
Manchu invasion of Chinaduring the 17th century, was an extremely significant event in Chinese
history, that left important impacts on China. It also helped to influence culture for years to come.
The Manchu people were a, federation of various tribes living in what is today China s provinces
of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang who belonged to the Tungus branch of the Atlantic people
(Theobald, The Manchus ). The Manchus replaced the Ming Dynasty in China after the decline of
the Ming in 1644.
The Ming Dynasty ruled China from 1368 until the dynasty commenced deterioration. By the
beginning of the 1600s, the Ming began to lose power due to threats from Barbarians on all
sides, political in fighting, rebellions, and poor loyalty in the military (Ryder). Likewise, the
spread of violence in China contributed to the collapse of the Ming Dynasty (Zarrow). In the year
1644, the Chinese rebels overthrew the dynasty (Williams). At this time, the Ming emperor
committed suicide as the rebel armies invaded Beijing (Zarrow). After the rebels overthrew the
Ming, the Manchu people stepped in to try and gain power.
The Manchus were able to establish clear power due to their strong discipline, unity,

Holes, by Louis Sachar, innocent Stanley Yelnats is sent to a juvenile delinquent camp as a
punishment for stealing shoes . The theme of Holes is perseverance because in the story, Stanley
escapes from the camp, takes a lot of risks, and rebels against Mr. Sir, the Warden, and Mr.
Pendanski.
In Holes, Stanley is sent to a camp for bad boys for stealing a pair of shoes from Clyde
Livingston, a famous baseball player, when they actually fell out of the sky on top of him. Now
he has to dig giant holes everyday and he hates it because it is hard and he is actually innocent.
At one point in the story, Stanley gets really angry and runs away from camp. He escapes
because he doesn t like it there, people are mean to him, and he is going to look for his friend
Zero who ran away before him. As far as he could tell, nobody was chasing him... He d have to
return to camp. He knew that. But he was in no hurry. (Sachar, 149) This quote shows that Stanley
runs away from the awful camp. He hates the camp so much that he does NOT want to go back.
He wants to get far away from there and find his friend Zero. ... Show more content on

He also gets in trouble for risks that some of the other boys take. One of the biggest risks that
Stanley takes is stealing Mr. Sir s truck and driving it across the barren lake right into a hole.
Think about this, he told himself, but there wasn t time to think. He flung open the door to the
truck and climbed quickly inside. (Sachar, 147) This quote really shows how Stanley is a risk
taker. It tells how he thinks of doing things he shouldn t do. He acts quickly and often times there
isn t time to think about consequences. It shows that he does bad, risky things for good reasons, but
doesn t always fully think through

The Flipped Classroom Essay
The Benefits of the Flipped Classroom for the 21st Century Student
Introduction
The motivation to examine the flipped classroom as a theme of investigation originates from this
present creator s advantage and mastery in utilizing innovation and how it can be utilized to draw in
and upgrade the classroom condition today. Most secondary school seniors were conceived and
grew up concurrent with the introduction of cell phones, youtube, myspace, facebook, snapchat and
instagram. With the advances in innovation regularly, one starts to contemplate what is the eventual
future of education. Flipped classroom turned into an enthusiasm of mine since it includes utilizing
online videos and it can possibly furnish educators with additional time in the classroom to provide
learning experiences that will reinforce the skills needed by the 21st Century student.
Why the Flipped Classroom
Research has demonstrated that the classroom educator can have the largest impact on gains in
student learning (Marzano, Pickering, Pollack, 2001). Marzano et al. (2001) provided teachers with
many different research based strategies for increasing student achievement. In later research,
(Marzano, 2007) went on to say, Arguably, keeping students engaged is one of the most important
considerations for the classroom teacher (Marzano, 2007 p. 98). He additionally states that
engaging students have become increasingly difficult with the influence of a society with fast
paced media and video games.

Marxist View on Education
Using material from Item A and elsewhere, assess the view that the education system exists mainly
to select and prepare young people for their future work roles. (20 marks)
As stated in Item A sociologists see the education system as performing a vital role in modern
societies. Item A also highlights that the educationsystem can equip individuals with the specialised
knowledge and skills they will need when they join the workforce. Therefore, the education system
helps select and allocate individuals into their future work roles. Although many sociologists agree
this is the main role of education, they argue whether this is a positive thing or a negative thing.
Whereas Functionalists believe this role of education benefits society and ... Show more content on

Althusser also argues that pupils learn a smokescreen so they cannot see inequality and the lie
of meritocracy. He claims that schools try to promote the belief of meritocracy this basically
means success is based on your own merit and ability. This supposedly helps motivate pupils to
work hard because if they do they will succeed in life and in their chosen careers. However
Althusser believes this is a lie as schools are in no way meritocratic. This is shown through the
fact that the middle classes have more opportunity i.e. being able to afford the best possible
education etc. Althusser believes that schools teach working class pupils to blame themselves for
social failure instead of society i.e. if pupils fail they will usually say they didn t work hard
enough etc. Although schools have a role of promoting the ruling class ideology, educations main
role is to mould pupils into ideal workers which helps prop up and maintain capitalism.
Durkheim also believes education has the important role of teaching the skills needed for work and
that it has an allocation function which helps people fit into the right roles in society. It has been
suggested that this helps prepare young people for their future work roles through the teaching of
specialist skills. Functionalist Parsons builds on Durkheim s ideas.

Nursing Case Study
Results During this course of the timeline provided, there were 725 ICU patients in this hospital.
Out of these ICU patients, only 85 of met the qualifications for this study. Out of the patients
presenting with a TBI with or without ARDS, 87.2% were men, with a mean age of 38.9 years.
Patients with ARDS with or without a TBI had a mean age of 48.3 years. Out of these patients,
70.9% were men. There were no significant differences in baseline parameters between either
those TBI patients with or without ARDS, or the ARDS patients with or without TBI. For the cases
of patients presenting in the ICU with non traumatic causes of ARDS, the most common were

The study intended to survey patients with TBI and ARDS, breaking down the connection between
their frequency and seriousness. ARDS affects up to 22% of TBI cases and is a known reason
for the death rate in these patients. During this studies investigation, 36.2% of patients with TBI
advanced with ARDS. It is likely that the high frequency of ARDS in this population of patients
with TBI could be because the seriousness of injury being with only trauma ICU admissions
examined. The most common of TBI is higher among men, with a mean age of 30 years, with
motor vehicle accidents as the cause for the patient s trauma. Alcohol and smoking were also noted
to have an association in regards to the development of ARDS in this study. 12.8% of the patients
in this study with TBI, and 9.1% with ARDS had a history or recent encounter with alcohol.
Alcohol was also a known culprit to be associated with motor vehicle accidents, or violence in
Brazil. The consumption increases the chances of ARDS in general. However, in this study, no
differences in ARDS incidence between alcoholic and non alcoholic victims of TBI were found.
This could be due to data and patient history being lost during this study course, or not properly
communicated. Smokers take up a high percentage of trauma cases, and this should be known to
lead to worse outcomes and difficulty in weaning these patients off mechanical ventilation.
Furthermore, nicotine withdrawal could be a relation to

England in the populous village of Highbury, where Emma lives with her father in their mansion,
Hartfield. In this book, both the protagonist and the antagonist turn out to be the same person, Emma
. Emma Woodhouse is beautiful, clever, talented, and the youngest of two daughters born to her
father. The effect of her sister Isabella s marriage to Mr. John Knightley a few years earlier had left

This website uses geometric lines and spaces to make its advantage. Generally, web developers
can utilize lines as a space or content divider and create attractive designs for backgrounds or
header images (South University Online, 2016). The Aquent website is a great example for this
concept which makes it appropriate for this page. This homepage includes many links,
nevertheless, navigation is not a problem since the links are clearly defined in both the header and
footer. It is more time consuming than usual to scroll through the homepage. Nonetheless, I am
certain that the design is still excellent and contends are laid out in an attractive manner. Once
more the designers have chosen the rectangle as the most used shape which helps to divide the
different sections of the page. Squares are used to link to different areas of the website. Aquent,

Mistakes Are Mistakes
Have you ever made a mistake that actually helped to open your eyes or lead you to a great idea?
Mistakes are the key to making new discoveries all around us. How do you think we learned
about gravity? A mistake was made with an apple falling from a tree which helped us to open
our eyes and give us the great idea to learn more about gravity. Mistakes are the key to new
discoveries, because it opens your eyes to new possibilities and it can help you to do great deeds.
It has been argued that, mistakes are not the key to making new discoveries, because of the
problems it can cause. I know this because in the text it said, Most of the time, scientists work for
decades and make very few mistakes. When they do, most mistakes cause problems, not... Show

We make so many mistakes, everyone of us, but when you make a mistake it normally opens
your eye s to new possibilities. I know this because in the text it said, Percy Spencer never set
out to help cook your dinner in only 5 minutes. All he did was carry a bar of chocolate from his
pocket onto the factory floor. What he discovered that day was more than how to get chocolate
stains out of your clothes. He discovered a completely new way to cook ( How a Melted Bar of
Chocolate Changed our Kitchens ) . Based on this evidence, Percy s eyes were opened to a
whole to new way to cook food all because of an accident, of taking chocolate in his warm pocket
onto a factory floor. According to Martin Farquhar Tupper, a 19th Century English writer Error is
a hard plant; it flourisheth in every soul ( A series of Quotations about Error and Discovery ).
Based on the evidence given, what it is saying is that mistakes are in everybody, but those mistakes
begin to flourish and become something better than what it was. This supports my claim, because
mistakes can open your eyes to new possibilities like the chocolate bar and mistakes

Analysis Of Edward O. Wilson s The Future Of Life
Edward O. Wilson in his book The Future of Life (2002) writes two bi oppositional passages that
illustrate two extreme sides of an argument on environmentalism. Wilson writes both passages with
the same rhetorical patterning and reasoning to show how these arguments are not productive,
because all they are doing throughout these passages are attacking the other side through pointing
out their wrongdoings. In both passages, there is a question of illegitimacy and skepticism brought
into light. The [environmental] wackos have a broad and mostly hidden agenda that always comes
from the left ... Their aim is to expand the government[.] (7 10) Here Wilson uses an ethical appeal
to try to convince the reader that the environmentalist side is hiding their true motives, and only
seek power. There is a clear attack on their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

23) Wilson here is using a logical appeal to get at that these unreasonable occurrences are at the
goal of the environmentalists. However, the environmentalist passage includes Their conception
of the public trust is a strong military establishment and subsides for loggers and ranchers. (53
55) Again, Wilson is using a logical appeal to get at how unreasonable these ideas of the critics
are. The point Wilson is really trying to make with the combination of these two statements is how
they are nothing but unproductive. Instead of saying these things about the other side, it would be
more beneficial to reinforce beliefs and stances, build your own case up, end the self righteousness,
and end the idea that their side is superior without explanation. There is little to be won from
dispersing the opposition if you have no more than they on your

Comparing Cinderella And Donkeyskin
The protagonists in both stories of Cinderella and Donkeyskin are perhaps a vivid example of a
character who is lost. In both stories, the girls are bound by one reason or another, whether it
consist of her father, or two sisters and a godmother who have no care for her fate. Both stories
portray her as helpless and equally unwilling to rebel against other characters, perhaps out of fear
or her personality alone. Instead, she essentially beats them out in a more passive yet effective way.
However throughout both these stories, it is clear that she does not have the wealth or luxury of
doing this alone, hence where other characters take on that role.
These characters are possibly abstract, or perhaps visions/voices from the thoughts of another
character, such as Cinderella when the prince carries away the step sisters one by one, but the
birds offer a piece of advice, telling the prince of a poem that explains that he has chosen the
wrong girl. When reading this line, that repeats itself as he confuses the other step sister for
Cinderella, I wondered if these were just images or lines within his head instead of real birds
talking as the fairytale world may suggest. This way of thinking may suggest that the prince knows
exactly of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

teams that can be on totally different skill levels depending on the tournament. After a team

the bracket posted by the concession stand to see when and who they play next. The pool games

important in the sense because that is where they will place you in the bracket. The A bracket is
where every team strives to be at, those are the best of the best teams. Next down is AA, then B,
then BB, and depending on how large the tournament is it could go all the way down to a CC. As
I sat at the game early in the day I could hear the chants from across the 8 fields at the complex,
where each team had different attitudes about the game they were in. I got cold chills just listening

Essay On Us Foreign Relations
The United States is an amazing land of opportunity, open to most anyone of any nationality. This
land has shone a beacon of freedom since 1776 when it declared its sovereignty from Great Britain
and the fight for its freedom. The United States has since then taken a vital part in much of the
many international affairs that occur around the globe. Some of it being conducive to its continued
sovereignty and expansion and its fight to be the most powerful country in the free world, and
some of it to help our allies in ways that they cannot always help themselves. In today s world, the

While this is one example of foreign relations in the history of the United States, there are many
others, such as the Revolutionary War, where the United States got its beginning, the War of 1812,
where the United States had to once again defend itself from Great Britain in a great victory,
America s involvement in the island nation of Hawaii, which had an interesting outcome, and the
Spanish American war, which had many repercussions, some being good and some being bad.
The best place to start with foreign relations of the United States is in the Revolutionary War when
the United States fought Great Britain for their independence. This war began on April 19, 1775,
and ended on September 3, 1783, with a surprising victory for the Americans. The war was caused
by growing political changes between the Americans and the British. The British were continually
taxing the American people while simultaneously giving them no say in the matter. This is where
the famous phrase No taxation without representation comes from. It was not long after this point
when the Americans decided to finally fight for their independence from the British and not only
fight for better representation in their government. This is arguably the first time the United States
as a sovereign nation had any sort of foreign relations with a nation that was not

  • 2. Sugarlands Visitor Center Essay Day 1 Sugarlands Visitor Center, Elkmont Campground, Abrams Trail, and Abrams Falls First, I watched a twenty minute documentary film about the history of the mountains including wildlife and nature that I might encounter, plus activities that are offered in the park. Next, I browsed the interactive museum that had stunning authentic wildlife displays, with native plants. Ranger Sam answered my questions, advised me on wildlife sightings, and offered valuable suggestions on places to visit within the park. The bookstore displayed interesting books, maps, badges, post cards, and had a variety of gifts. The Sugarlands Visitor Center offers a wealth of information, leaving you with a passion to explore all the park s mountainous terrain.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Entering at Cades Cove, I hiked down the narrow muddy trail through the forest listening for the sounds of rushing water. The cold crystal clear water flowed effortlessly over the smooth rocks and the air was quite refreshing. Carefully, I made my way down stream watching my footing, while admiring the spectacular scenery. The remoteness of the area provided solitude and the quiet stillness was relaxing. As the sun beamed overhead, I caught a glimpse of a large dark fish with a light yellow back and light spots, a brook trout. Moving about I cast my line in the distance and was patient as the brilliant rainbow trout with it silvery sides, bluish green backs, black spots, and bright pink bands shined in the sun s rays. I lost track of time in the peaceful environment, and after several hours, I had my quota of five trout over seven inches, a successful day for any angler. Then, I headed to the campsite to freshen up and then hurried off for horseback riding at Sugarland Riding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of Bosses Seek Critical Thinking In 1989 1995, my father took a job as a manager of the newspaper Marin Independent Journal company called Gannett. His job required him to have bouts of experience and to be able to solve problems quickly. When a carrier didn t show up, he needed to quickly come up with a solution to get the mail out. Another problem he faced was how some people s mail were stolen. His own experience with these issues and critical thinking is what helped him become manager for almost four years. In her article, Bosses Seek Critical Thinking , but what is that , Melissa Korn claims that qualities like critical thinking and problem solving are major assets that young workers may lack. As she explains, critical thinking is something that is hard to describe and can have many different ways of wording it. That, in turn makes it difficult for employers to set this bar. Korn continues to give multiple types of definitions of critical thinking to show exactly how the definitions can differ. She then adds that an incorporation has their candidates work through company assessments to see how they reach their conclusions. This lets them see if their workers are qualified. Korn then proceeds to bring Jerry Houser s opinion on how schools are encouraging students to focus too much on their social lives. Upon reading Korn s article, i ve found that although many parts are agreeable, such as when she talks about how difficult it is to actually describe and prescribe critical thinking, other parts like ... • 6. Making Preservation Possible For City Skylines Devon O Geary Mrs. Hinner LNG 341 11 November 2015 Making Preservation Possible City skylines can be easily recognized for their unique architectural features, such as sharply pointed steeples, dramatic heights, and distinctively shaped buildings. In the United States, the skylines of New York, Chicago, and Seattle show familiar features, such as the Empire State Building, the Sears Tower, and the Space Needle respectively. Buildings in Charleston, South Carolina, and Savannah, Georgia are also acclaimed for their quaint style and Southern Charm. Many of these notable architectural works of art, referred to generally as historic buildings or historic structures, would cease to exist without the hard work of preservation societies. These societies, as well as the notable architecture they preserve, provide educational lessons outside of the traditional classroom for today s youth. For these reasons, the nation s historic buildings need to be preserved and restored to their original glory. More state and city governments should follow the federal government s lead and provide tax incentives to encourage builders to remodel, and thus preserve historic buildings, preventing the demolition of iconic landmarks. A historic building is any place with historical context. The word historic is defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary as famous or important in history; having great and lasting importance; or happening or existing in the past, (Merriam Webster). • 7. Fathers Should Get Paid Paternity Leave Fathers are just as important as mothers to bond with their children. So, should they receive paid paternity leave? Paternity leave is when a father takes time off to bond, help out, and adjust to the new day to day life having a new addition to the family. Some people haven t heard the term, paternity leave, and assumes you re talking about maternityleave; which is when the motheris recuperating and caring for her new child. It sounds nice when a father takes time off to care for their spouse and new born. Although, some men might find it more stressful to take time off because they worry about their positioning and possible promotions in the future at work. All fathers should receive paid paternityleave because it s beneficial in the workplace, more companies and states will reconsider doing it, it s beneficial to the kids, and they become used to doing more routine work around the house. One of the reasons that fathers should get paid paternity leave is because it can be beneficial to the workplace. A lot of people wonder, how can someone taking time off work actually help a company? We must realize, it s not an overnight benefit, it s a benefit that will come over time in the long run after a bond has been created with the employee. Covert says, People feel their company is committed to them in the long term, that their happiness and wellbeing is prioritized over short term profit (Covert). • 8. Examples Of Moral Dilemmas 2. What are values and norms and what is a moral dilemma? To answer this question I will divide the question in three parts. Starting with what values are. Values are an absolut or relative and ethic value of a person. Values can be defined as a wide preference for specific actions. The assumption of those can be a basic form for ethic handling. A Valuesystem is a set of consistense values and measures. A principale value is a fundamental on which values and measures of integrity are based. Some values are physiologically determined and used usually for avoiding fysical pain or for looking for fun. Other values are subjective, they are different for every individu or for different religions. These values are more based on religion and their beliefs. But what is a Moral dilemma?. A Moral Dilemma is that two well known cases conflict with eachother. In each case you have moral reasons to do each of the two actions, but it is not possible to do both. This is what you call moral dilemmas. What is really a common factor for moral dilemmas is, is that it is kind of required to do both actions, in this situation you can choose one of them but you can t do both, so you start feeling that you failed, because both actions are important for you. No matter which one you will choose you always have the feeling that you failed or did something wrong. So to recap this all a Moral Dillema is a Dillema between two factors/choices that are both important to you and whatever you choose you will always think you made the wrong choice. 3.What Values and Norms does the chosen organisation ... That s a student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day. 25% of high school freshmen fail to graduate from high school on time. But this year, as I talked to my fellow seniors about their future plans, I never once heard, I m not going to college. You see I live in a bubble: the typically white, conservative, well educated town of Orchard Park, New York. Minority enrolled at my high schoolis 5%. Students categorized as Economically Disadvantaged is 7%. The dropout rate is relatively obsolete. Recently my school was designated a National Blue Ribbon School. But not every high school is like this. Not every student my age has access to a quality education. Many of my peers, who have just as much potential as I do, are disadvantaged because of the place they live or their background they come from. The facts are that the United States is falling behind when it comes to education. According to US Today, America is the 5th most educated country in the world. That seems acceptable until you discern that the United States percent GDP spent on secondary education (3.6%) is among the lowest of developed countries.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. Indian Imperialism Rudyard Kipling stated, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet (Velgen 240). One of the main questions posed by this novel, as asked by Mahmoud Ali and Hamidullah, is whether or not it is possible to be friendly with the Englishmen. The book serves as an example as to how difficult it might seem to achieve unity when there s diversity already present. This question is answered through discovering the personal relationships among the main characters in the novel and analyzing the effects of imperialism on the exploitation of those personal relationships. Set in British colonial India, the novel explores cultural, religious, and political barriers and the hostility between the subjects and the ruling class. India, a country already known to be diverse within itself and containing innumerable groups formed by social hierarchy and distinct traditions, was unaware of a society in which people of different backgrounds live in unity. This book created much controversy because many critics believe that E.M. Forster, the author, was being impartial to the Ango Indians and advocating more for the native Hindus.... During this time people had an individualized, free, liberal, and imaginative attitude towards life. Literature itself was full of introspection, emotion, passion, sublimity, beauty, and spontaneity, with subjects such as humankind, the soul, flowers, the common people and more. Of all of the Romantic values and subjects, the beauty, creativity, and morals of nature is what truly inspired human imagination, and thus literature of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The underlying theme of nature that is persistent through romantic poetry creates a bond between the poet and the common man through short poems that express personal emotion that all can feel, as we all are connected to nature. Shared Reality: Not only did the medical community share a vision, they also shared data through the Quality Health Network (QHN)2. They developed an IT system that is still in the infancy stages in the rest of the United States where data is shared between various providers. There is a common network that providers are able to log into and see other providers notes and care plans. This sharing of information has decreased the performance of duplicate tests /procedures and has decreased the costs and increased the quality of care that patients in the Grand Junction community receive. The information in the shared data system was also used to promote transparency of data on physician performance to formulate a health care model that focused on the patient and through peer pressure, caused the providers to strive for better outcomes. People: We have learned that the United States is lacking providers in the primary care field but Grand Junction actually has an increased number of PCPs in their community, and this has allowed them to manage their patient s care more in depth.2 Having the social service groups to assist with necessary patient follow up and home care has also worked favorably for them. In addition, they have highly motivated individuals that are seeking to make a change in the way that health care is delivered. The trucking industry has been a leading factor in moving goods since the 1900 s. Without it, the United States will die in a minimum of 3 days. As for my thoughts on the matter, I believe the government needs to start deregulating this industry. Many veteran drivers are in their retirement years and we will need an influx of new drivers to take the helm. But unfortunately, many of these new drivers are leaving the industry because they cannot handle the pressure put on them by the government. • 27. Analysis Of Van Gogh s Starry Night Sky One of Vincent Van Gogh s most world renowned paintings is his landscape oil painting Starry Night. The painting displays a small town underneath an unusual yet still extremely beautiful night sky. In this night sky, Van Gogh utilizes an array of colors that blend well together in order to enhance the sky as a whole. The town is clearly a small one due to the amount of buildings that are present in the painting itself. In this small town most of the buildings have lights on which symbolize life in a community. Another visual in Starry Night is the mountain like figures that appear in the background of the illustrious painting. Several things contribute to the beauty of Van Gogh s painting which are the painting s function, context, style, and design. Van Gogh s utilization of these elements help bring further emphasis to his work in Starry Night. Starry Night was painted by Vincent Van Gogh, a Dutch painter who was well known for being an impressionist during his time. Van Gogh was born March 30, 1853 in the Netherlands and died at the age of 37 in France where he actually painted Starry Night while in the Hospital. Starry Night is located in the Museum of Modern Art in New York City (Van Gogh Gallery). The main point of emphasis in Starry Night is the relationships between a community, nature, and religion. The subject of the painting was a principle courtier of James I, a role that placed him in the heart of clothing. The court members developed into models for the noble style of dress, with royalty spending thousands of pounds annually for their wardrobe. In the modern world, fashion is predominately a female dominated industry. However, in the early seventeenth century, the dress of men was of greater importance than that of woman, as aristocratic woman often lived privatized lives whereas men were more exposed to society. The fit of the male outfit also held a high significance, just as it did for the female. (20 marks) As stated in Item A sociologists see the education system as performing a vital role in modern societies. Item A also highlights that the educationsystem can equip individuals with the specialised knowledge and skills they will need when they join the workforce. Therefore, the education system helps select and allocate individuals into their future work roles. Althusser also argues that pupils learn a smokescreen so they cannot see inequality and the lie of meritocracy. He claims that schools try to promote the belief of meritocracy this basically means success is based on your own merit and ability. This supposedly helps motivate pupils to work hard because if they do they will succeed in life and in their chosen careers. However Althusser believes this is a lie as schools are in no way meritocratic. This is shown through the fact that the middle classes have more opportunity i.e. being able to afford the best possible education etc. Althusser believes that schools teach working class pupils to blame themselves for social failure instead of society i.e. if pupils fail they will usually say they didn t work hard enough etc. Although schools have a role of promoting the ruling class ideology, educations main role is to mould pupils into ideal workers which helps prop up and maintain capitalism. Durkheim also believes education has the important role of teaching the skills needed for work and that it has an allocation function which helps people fit into the right roles in society. It has been suggested that this helps prepare young people for their future work roles through the teaching of specialist skills. Functionalist Parsons builds on Durkheim s ideas. ... In both stories, the girls are bound by one reason or another, whether it consist of her father, or two sisters and a godmother who have no care for her fate. Both stories portray her as helpless and equally unwilling to rebel against other characters, perhaps out of fear or her personality alone. Instead, she essentially beats them out in a more passive yet effective way.
